- 0:02SPEAKER_00: Kate Dreston here.
- 0:04SPEAKER_00: Do you have something coming up that you are just dreading?
- 0:07SPEAKER_00: You know,
- 0:07SPEAKER_00: it's one of those meetings that will probably come with plenty of drama,
- 0:11SPEAKER_00: anxiety, or stress.
- 0:13SPEAKER_00: Well, if you do, I was right there with you last week.
- 0:17SPEAKER_00: In this five-minute episode,
- 0:18SPEAKER_00: I'll share what the Bible says to help us when we're really dreading something.
- 0:24SPEAKER_00: Hi, guys.
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: I had a difficult meeting land on my schedule this week.
- 0:29SPEAKER_00: We've all been there.
- 0:31SPEAKER_00: You know, it could be a work function or a doctor's appointment or a test.
- 0:36SPEAKER_00: It could be a family party or any meeting where there could be drama or where
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: the stakes are high and there's a good chance you're going to be uncomfortable.
- 0:45SPEAKER_00: Your mind plays out a hundred different ways things might unfold,
- 0:49SPEAKER_00: and they are usually all the worst-case scenarios.
- 0:53SPEAKER_00: In my experience, the anticipation of an event is often far worse than the actual event.
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: When I was waiting on my event to come around,
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: I searched the Bible to see what it had to say about how I was feeling.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: And here's what I found.
- 1:09SPEAKER_00: Number one, God is sovereign over all events.
- 1:14SPEAKER_00: He shapes the overall course of world history,
- 1:17SPEAKER_00: and yet at the same time, He guides the smallest details of our lives.
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: Isn't that amazing?
- 1:26SPEAKER_00: Knowing that everything is under His careful oversight.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: Well, that should give us both comfort and courage to face what we dread.
- 1:34SPEAKER_00: Sometimes we forget how big God is, how He holds this whole world together.
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: He knows every detail about our lives, and it's all under His control.
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: Number two, He goes before us.
- 1:49SPEAKER_00: God prepares people and situations for the appropriate outcome.
- 1:55SPEAKER_00: God's working behind the scenes so we can trust Him.
- 1:59SPEAKER_00: He goes before us and He'll provide what we need to get through whatever we're dreading.
- 2:04SPEAKER_00: And that means we can walk in faith and know that if we obey Him,
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: things will go according to His plan.
- 2:12SPEAKER_00: And notice I didn't say it'll go the way we want,
- 2:15SPEAKER_00: but sometimes what we want doesn't line up with what He wants.
- 2:19SPEAKER_00: Number three, He provides for us.
- 2:23SPEAKER_00: When we can't see a way, He will make a way.
- 2:27SPEAKER_00: God has an amazing track record of doing this.
- 2:30SPEAKER_00: The Bible is full of examples.
- 2:32SPEAKER_00: Take Daniel in the lion's den.
- 2:35SPEAKER_00: Or how He provided manna every day for the Israelites.
- 2:40SPEAKER_00: Or how about Jonah and the fish?
- 2:42SPEAKER_00: God provides us with strength and discernment to know just what to do and how to handle things.
- 2:49SPEAKER_00: He gives us just the right words to say.
- 2:53SPEAKER_00: There's no doubt He'll bring us out the other side of whatever we are dreading so much.
- 2:59SPEAKER_00: And number four, He stays with us through it all.
- 3:03SPEAKER_00: Even if we don't feel His presence, it doesn't mean He isn't there.
- 3:07SPEAKER_00: Through faith, we believe God's promises.
- 3:11SPEAKER_00: And we walk by faith, not by sight.
- 3:14SPEAKER_00: So, as we wrap it up, remember God's in control.
- 3:19SPEAKER_00: He goes before us.
- 3:20SPEAKER_00: He provides for us.
- 3:22SPEAKER_00: And He stays with us through it all.
- 3:25SPEAKER_00: Time can only move forward.
- 3:27SPEAKER_00: So eventually, whatever we're dreading is going to be a memory.
- 3:32SPEAKER_00: If you're cringing at the thought of how a future event is going to turn out,
- 3:36SPEAKER_00: surrender your feelings of anxiety, discouragement, fear to the Lord.
- 3:43SPEAKER_00: Ask Him for wisdom and strength to face this challenge.
- 3:47SPEAKER_00: And lastly, believe He will be your anchor, keeping you steady.
- 3:52SPEAKER_00: Because I'm going to be doing the same.
- 3:56SPEAKER_00: Make it a great day.
- 3:57SPEAKER_00: And thanks for listening.
