- 0:01If you're like me, you want to save money. You don't want to keep replacing things.
- 0:07So I want to talk about how long we can keep our furnaces and our air conditioning
- 0:11units going without having to replace them.
- 0:15So I asked my good friend, Nathan Shafer, to join me today on the program
- 0:19to talk about what's the best way to extend the life of my air conditioning
- 0:25and heating units. Hey, Nathan.
- 0:27Hey, Jim. How are you today? I am doing great. Great. Thank you so much.
- 0:30So what's the answer to that? How can we extend the life?
- 0:32Because it's a big investment to have to replace something if we don't need
- 0:36to. So how can we extend it?
- 0:38For sure it is. Yeah. It's a huge investment. You know, it's one of those things
- 0:42that most people, you know, might make the purchase of once or twice in a lifetime, you know?
- 0:47And so we want to make sure that we protect that and make that last as long
- 0:53as possible, as pain-free as possible, as risk-free as possible.
- 0:57And so there's lots of ways that we can do that. But number one is gonna be,
- 1:01what are we doing to maintain that system?
- 1:03To keep it at factory fresh conditions.
- 1:06And that starts from really day one, month one, year one, right?
- 1:10Right from the beginning.
- 1:11Oftentimes someone might say, well, you know, we talk about maintenance plans.
- 1:15We have what we call our club membership. You know, it's our VIP status.
- 1:18And I mean, those are our happiest customers. Our systems last the longest.
- 1:21They have the least amount of breakdowns. They get the extra VIP treatment and
- 1:25savings and all these awesome things that come with it.
- 1:28But I mean, really, you know, most important because of this is protecting that
- 1:31investment of that system. And sometimes people might think or will get a comment.
- 1:35Well, it's a brand new system and it has 10 year warranty.
- 1:38You know, why would I need to maintain it? Because it's covered for warrant under one for 10 years.
- 1:43And really, the fact is, it'd be like buying a brand new car and saying,
- 1:47well, why should I change the oil? Why should I wash it?
- 1:50Why would I vacuum it out or wipe it down or take care of or change and rotate
- 1:53the tires and the brakes?
- 1:55Why maintain it? it's got a, you know, a whatever, a hundred thousand mile warranty
- 1:59or whatever the case may be, you know, three-year warranty. So,
- 2:02um, it's just like that car.
- 2:04You still want to do that. And you want to do that on a regular basis.
- 2:07Um, you want to keep that system clean because as, uh, dirt and different things
- 2:11in our house, you know, are pulling through that system, it's going to decrease in efficiency.
- 2:16Uh, parts are going to wear and tear. And if we're out there on a regular basis,
- 2:20um, checking that system, cleaning that system, keeping it at factory fresh conditions,
- 2:25calibrating everything, checking and monitoring, you know, all the pressures
- 2:28and electrical connections and the components within that system, uh, properly,
- 2:32man, you're, you're, you're guaranteed to either a find something before breaks
- 2:36and, or maybe it's a minor repair instead of something major, um,
- 2:40like even like a start device for a motor or something, um,
- 2:44and, or prevent something from failing.
- 2:46And so, uh, that's really the idea. So there's, there's lots of ways that we
- 2:50can do that, but man, I tell you being on that regular, maintenance plan.
- 2:54I know it sounds basic being a quote-unquote maintenance, but man,
- 2:58it's so, so important to protecting that investment and keeping that system
- 3:02lasting a long time and also running efficiently.
- 3:06Your club membership is really the best vehicle for this, isn't it?
- 3:10Oh, it is. Yeah, it is. Like I said, it's, it's when you, when you talk about
- 3:14that club membership and you go through all the benefits and the savings and
- 3:18what you get for that, you know, for 20 bucks a month,
- 3:21you know, it's like, it's, it's, most people are like, it's what,
- 3:24after you go through it, they're like, that's it.
- 3:26You know, well, heck yeah. How many times can I sign up? I mean,
- 3:29sign me up, please. Like yesterday, like it's a no brainer. It really is.
- 3:32I mean, it's one of those things you just set it and forget about it,
- 3:35you know, because Because, I mean, most people that are like you are like me,
- 3:38right? I mean, we have busy lives.
- 3:40And so the last thing in our mind is calling somebody to come out and maintain my HVAC system.
- 3:46Because most of those, they're out of sight. They're out of mind.
- 3:48They're in the attic, the basement, the closet, wherever, you know.
- 3:53Years turn into months, turn into, I mean, time just flies by so fast.
- 3:58And so on those maintenance plans, it's all automated. We're calling you,
- 4:02hey, it's time to have your system cleaned and maintained. You know,
- 4:05when can we get a technician at this convenient for your schedule?
- 4:07So just once again, it's like lots of things that we try to do here for our clients.
- 4:12Hey, what's all the ways possible we can take the risk off of off of our client?
- 4:16Put that on to us. Let us take care of that for you.
- 4:18You know, we've got the systems in place to do that. And let's keep that system
- 4:21lasting a long time and running efficiently.
- 4:24And or sometimes people like, well, the system's, you know, 10 years old.
- 4:28You know, maybe I'll just wait till the next one. in reality well maybe
- 4:31it is 10 years old but do you want to keep it lasting as
- 4:34long as possible you know how can i try to get more life out
- 4:37of it well once again that maintenance plan that club membership
- 4:40uh is the best option to do that you know you can always get dentures this morning
- 4:45i got a text message from my dentist reminding me about my appointment every
- 4:51six months yeah i go in for the maintenance i could get fake teeth they could
- 4:57tear them all out and put in fake teeth.
- 4:59I choose to keep mine. It's the same thing, isn't it? Twice a year you guys
- 5:03go out to make sure that your customers can keep their teeth or in this case,
- 5:08their air conditioning and heating systems.
- 5:11I hadn't heard that analogy before. I thought of it compared with teeth.
- 5:15But yes, that's exactly right. Yeah.
- 5:17A hundred percent. So join the club, Shafer Heating and Cooling.
- 5:23Nathan, thank you so much for joining me today. Much appreciated.
- 5:26Hey, thank you, Jim. Thanks for having me. Happy to help anytime.
