Transcript
- 0:02SPEAKER_00: Hello, everyone.
- 0:03SPEAKER_00: Welcome back to another great episode of Truth Be Told.
- 0:06SPEAKER_00: I am Mickey, your host, and joining me today is my co-host, Bethany.
- 0:09SPEAKER_00: And today we are going to drive dive back in to where we left off in a series that we've been working on.
- 0:16SPEAKER_00: And that series is called Why Forgiveness.
- 0:19SPEAKER_00: And I just want you, as we go through this episode today, just to keep in the back of your mind the question, why?
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: Why do we need forgiveness?
- 0:27SPEAKER_00: Why do we need to be forgiven and why do we need to forgive others?
- 0:31SPEAKER_00: And we've been talking about that for four weeks now.
- 0:33SPEAKER_00: Today's our fifth episode, and we're just going to keep going because we really want to just take the word and meditate on it.
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: So I'm going to have Bethany jump in and say hi and let her give us a recap of where we where we've been for the last four um episodes on this topic, and then we will continue on with um today's episode.
- 0:51SPEAKER_00: So Bethany, welcome in.
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: It's good to see you again.
- 0:54SPEAKER_01: Thank you.
- 0:55SPEAKER_01: Great to be here.
- 0:56SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 0:57SPEAKER_01: Um so we've been on this topic of life for goodness, and it's it's very important to really think about how and understand.
- 1:17SPEAKER_01: Um there's there's so many people, I believe, who are searching or wondering about various things.
- 1:33SPEAKER_01: And I think one of those main topics is why do we need forgiveness?
- 1:45SPEAKER_01: And so back in part one, we gave why we need forgiveness, and the reason is because of sin.
- 2:04SPEAKER_01: Now, maybe you say, Well, why is there sin?
- 2:11SPEAKER_01: So let's go back, take a bit of time right now and go back and explain why is there sin?
- 2:24SPEAKER_01: Well, God created the universe, God created humanity, God created everything in six literal twenty-four-hour days.
- 2:43SPEAKER_01: Among that creation is angels.
- 2:49SPEAKER_01: God created angels, and one of those angels that he created was Lucifer.
- 2:58SPEAKER_01: And for whatever reason, we we don't know the reason, but for some reason Lucifer chose to rebel.
- 3:16SPEAKER_01: Lucifer wanted to be like God, and obviously that was what caused God to banish Lucifer from heaven, and Lucifer became Satan.
- 3:34SPEAKER_01: And then in Genesis 3, the time period between Genesis 1 and Genesis 3, there was no need for forgiveness.
- 3:49SPEAKER_01: There was no need for forgiveness up until Genesis 3, verse 6.
- 3:57SPEAKER_01: And so that's why forgiveness is needed.
- 4:01SPEAKER_01: And so in parts two to four, and then continuing on today, we are talking about why it's important to forgive others.
- 4:19SPEAKER_01: That was part two, and then parts three and four, continuing on today as well, is verses that should encourage us, give us an assurance that we are forgiven if we truly confess our sins.
- 4:47SPEAKER_01: Now, if we just say that we're sorry for our sins, but we don't actually mean it, that's not forgiveness.
- 5:14SPEAKER_01: And so if you have not yet watched your lesson to parts one through three, four, parts one through four, I encourage you to take time after this and um watch your listen for yourself.
- 5:41SPEAKER_01: Don't take my word for anything, don't take Mickey's word for anything.
- 5:50SPEAKER_01: Watch and listen to the episodes.
- 5:53SPEAKER_01: Ask the Lord to show you what he has for you in those episodes, because what he has for you may be different than what he had for Mickey or I when we recorded them.
- 6:17SPEAKER_01: And so I encourage you to watch and listen to them.
- 6:25SPEAKER_01: Ask the Lord what he has for you from them.
- 6:31SPEAKER_01: And so now let's get into part five of why forgiveness.
- 6:41SPEAKER_01: And we are going to be looking at two scriptures that should further encourage us, further give us that assurance that when we confess our sins, we are forgiven.
- 7:03SPEAKER_01: So the next time that Satan comes with those accusations, we can resist them, we can reject them.
- 7:18SPEAKER_01: As we're told in James 4, 7 to do.
- 7:23SPEAKER_01: James 4.7, submit yourselves, therefore, to God, resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
- 7:33SPEAKER_01: And so, Mickey, if you would like me to, I can go out and pray and get into it.
- 7:40SPEAKER_00: That'd be great.
- 7:43SPEAKER_01: Right, let's pray.
- 7:50SPEAKER_01: So very much for this time that we have.
- 8:14SPEAKER_01: Not audibly, but do our spirits, to your Holy Spirit.
- 8:25SPEAKER_01: So Lord, I thank you for this time.
- 8:28SPEAKER_01: I thank you for what you will give each listener.
- 8:37SPEAKER_01: What you will show them, encourage them with whatever they need, Lord.
- 8:47SPEAKER_01: In this topic of why forgiveness and the assurance that we can have that when we truly confess, we are forgiven.
- 9:05SPEAKER_01: Thank you for that, Lord.
- 9:09SPEAKER_01: And thank you for what you will do.
- 9:11SPEAKER_01: Thank you for speaking to Mickey and I.
- 9:16SPEAKER_01: We give it to you, Lord.
- 9:18SPEAKER_01: In Jesus' name, amen.
- 9:23SPEAKER_01: So two more scriptures to add to the ones that we've already looked at.
- 9:33SPEAKER_01: And if you're curious about the ones that we've already looked at, I encourage you to go back to each of the parts.
- 9:47SPEAKER_01: Redo the show notes because Mickey does an excellent job at the descriptions of those.
- 9:59SPEAKER_01: And so the scriptures that we use are included in the show notes there.
- 10:07SPEAKER_01: So go back and read you those as well later.
- 10:15SPEAKER_01: But now let's look at Jeremiah.
- 10:22SPEAKER_01: Jeremiah chapter thirty-one and verse thirty-four.
- 10:32SPEAKER_01: And I would encourage you to read the chapter for yourself.
- 10:56SPEAKER_01: Every man his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, No the Lord, for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the Lord.
- 11:19SPEAKER_01: For I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.
- 11:32SPEAKER_01: Yes, that verse is speaking to a specific time, but I also believe it is for us today, especially that last praise, when it's telling us that and the Lord is speaking, God is speaking, when He says, I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.
- 12:20SPEAKER_01: That is very powerful.
- 12:28SPEAKER_01: I often wonder, do we understand just how powerful that is?
- 12:36SPEAKER_01: When the Lord God is saying that He will forgive iniquity, he will forgive sin.
- 12:49SPEAKER_01: That's great.
- 12:56SPEAKER_01: No, put this on top of that though, and he will not for he will not remember sin anymore.
- 13:12SPEAKER_01: That I'm not very outgoing or you know um over the top cited I I was not created that way.
- 13:38SPEAKER_01: And that's okay.
- 13:41SPEAKER_01: But whenever I read scriptures like this, whenever I read how God forgives and forgets confessed sin.
- 14:04SPEAKER_01: Um I'm very much excited and encouraged and empowered and uplifted, and that's what I want for you as well.
- 14:25SPEAKER_01: That when you read verses like this, you understand that since God cannot lie, and that is said in Titus one verse two, that God who cannot lie confessed, sin is forgiven and forgotten by God.
- 15:08SPEAKER_01: Mickey, I I'm sure you've heard the phrase that people say at times, you know, when they have people um do them wrong or whatever, and they're asked for forgiveness.
- 15:35SPEAKER_01: And the person says, Well, I'll forgive, but I'll never forget.
- 15:45SPEAKER_01: That is such a tragedy.
- 15:52SPEAKER_01: I do believe.
- 15:56SPEAKER_01: Because that's not what God does.
- 16:05SPEAKER_01: For those who are listening, please understand that when you genuinely confess your sins to God, they are forgiven.
- 16:16SPEAKER_01: He forgives them.
- 16:19SPEAKER_01: And I wish I had the biggest font available to put and in and he forgets you know, one area that the Lord has been working on me is those of us who are genuine Christians, when we say phrases like that, or we think phrases like that, the one I'll forgive, but I'll never forget, is that truly being like Christ?
- 17:34SPEAKER_01: No, not and I won't I won't take more time on that in this episode, but I think one of our future episodes should be on that so that it it's it's not like Christ.
- 18:06SPEAKER_01: Because Christ forgives and forgets, and that should encourage us.
- 18:15SPEAKER_01: That should be one of our things that we are encouraged by most.
- 18:27SPEAKER_01: And so, McGee, what are your thoughts on this verse?
- 18:34SPEAKER_00: Um, I just want to point out, especially to our listeners today, that if you're looking for assurance, like serious assurance, this scripture is it.
- 18:46SPEAKER_00: It nails it 100%.
- 18:48SPEAKER_00: There's no greater assurance than this.
- 18:51SPEAKER_00: And I know for myself, I've often questioned well, does God really forgive me?
- 18:57SPEAKER_00: Is he going to really forgive me?
- 18:58SPEAKER_00: That doubt that we have, it that doesn't come from the Lord, by the way.
- 19:03SPEAKER_00: That comes from the enemy.
- 19:05SPEAKER_00: He wants us to be doubt.
- 19:06SPEAKER_00: That he's he's when we say, I'll forgive you, but I won't forget, that's the enemy talking actually, because he wants us to hold on to that because that's not true forgiveness.
- 19:18SPEAKER_00: True forgiveness is what it says right here in the scripture.
- 19:21SPEAKER_00: It says, For I will forgive their iniquity and I will remember their sin no more.
- 19:26SPEAKER_00: That's true, that's true forgiveness.
- 19:30SPEAKER_00: That's that's an overabundance of mercy and love.
- 19:36SPEAKER_00: We often don't share that with other people.
- 19:39SPEAKER_00: We don't give that to other people.
- 19:40SPEAKER_00: We want it for ourselves.
- 19:41SPEAKER_00: We want God to give it to us, but we're not, we don't give it to others.
- 19:45SPEAKER_00: We put a little clause on there that you know, we've got to read those fine little prints.
- 19:50SPEAKER_00: I think we have little clauses that, and that's the enemy still over here in your mind going, you know, but what if they do it again?
- 19:57SPEAKER_00: Or what if, well, God probably thinks the same thing.
- 20:00SPEAKER_00: God already knows, you know what?
- 20:02SPEAKER_00: God already knows we're gonna do it again.
- 20:04SPEAKER_00: He just needs us to repent for it.
- 20:06SPEAKER_00: He needs to be sorry us to be sorry for it.
- 20:08SPEAKER_00: We need to ask God to forgive us for it.
- 20:10SPEAKER_00: He knows what we struggle with, he knows our weaknesses, he knows our strengths.
- 20:15SPEAKER_00: And the more we go to him with true repent repentance and forgiveness, the more he will help us not to do that sin, opposed to continuing it.
- 20:25SPEAKER_00: A lot of people repeat sins because they think they're not forgivable sins.
- 20:30SPEAKER_00: There's no sin out there that's not there, there is no sin out there that is not forgiven.
- 20:36SPEAKER_00: Even murder.
- 20:38SPEAKER_00: When we think about the Ten Commandments, and I've broken every single one of them.
- 20:43SPEAKER_00: No, I haven't personally killed anyone, but the thought has crossed my mind a time or two, but I'm just gonna say, yeah, I mean, you know, we get these thoughts in our head, and that's the enemy, you know, given this is that's where they start anyway.
- 20:55SPEAKER_00: You think murder doesn't start in our minds and in our hearts?
- 20:58SPEAKER_00: It does because our hearts are hardened, and the enemy will play with that, and and he will really do a number on you if we allow him to.
- 21:07SPEAKER_00: But if we're connected to it says in the scripture, know the Lord.
- 21:16SPEAKER_00: If you're out here dabbling in sin, you don't know the Lord, you're hanging out with the devil.
- 21:23SPEAKER_00: The devil is your best friend, by the way.
- 21:25SPEAKER_00: He will keep you there, he will he will he will try to keep you in that situation because he doesn't want you to know the Lord.
- 21:31SPEAKER_00: Those three words know the Lord.
- 21:33SPEAKER_00: The enemy doesn't want us to even tell you that you're supposed to know the Lord.
- 21:38SPEAKER_00: What does that mean?
- 21:39SPEAKER_00: You are supposed to read the word, you're supposed to you know learn the word, meditate on the word, and then take it for what it says.
- 21:47SPEAKER_00: God is not a liar, like that's a convention.
- 21:50SPEAKER_00: He is not a liar, he can't lie, it's impossible.
- 21:53SPEAKER_00: It's one thing God cannot do, He's He just can't lie.
- 21:58SPEAKER_00: So if it tells you.
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: You, hey, you better know the Lord.
- 22:02SPEAKER_00: And you better repent.
- 22:05SPEAKER_00: You need to be honest to goodness, sorry for what you've done.
- 22:10SPEAKER_00: And there's, you know, it drives me nuts when people say, sorry, sorry, but they don't mean it.
- 22:15SPEAKER_00: They just say it to try to appease you.
- 22:17SPEAKER_00: Drives me nuts.
- 22:18SPEAKER_00: It really drives me nuts because you know it that's a lie in itself, right there.
- 22:22SPEAKER_00: They're lying right to your face when they're not really sorry.
- 22:26SPEAKER_00: Is that how we're talking to the Lord?
- 22:28SPEAKER_00: It says to know the Lord.
- 22:30SPEAKER_00: If you know the Lord, you know what a mockery that would be to God.
- 22:35SPEAKER_00: He's not to be toyed with.
- 22:39SPEAKER_00: He is the most supernatural, most powerful entity in the entire world.
- 22:46SPEAKER_00: He created you with his very breath.
- 22:50SPEAKER_00: He breathed life into you.
- 22:52SPEAKER_00: He breathed the universe out of his nostrils, mind you.
- 22:56SPEAKER_00: That's some pretty powerful stuff right there.
- 23:00SPEAKER_00: How well do you know the Lord?
- 23:02SPEAKER_00: If you know the Lord, then you will know that this scripture is a perfect scripture for assurance.
- 23:09SPEAKER_00: 100%.
- 23:10SPEAKER_00: It, I mean, if this is the only scripture that you get today or understand out of the whole entire Bible and you're looking for assurance, this is it.
- 23:19SPEAKER_00: Seriously, it is it.
- 23:21SPEAKER_00: I will forgive their inequity and I will remember their sin no more.
- 23:25SPEAKER_00: He doesn't say, I'm gonna just set it on the shelf over here in case they do it again so I can bring it back up and throw it in their face.
- 23:32SPEAKER_00: We do that.
- 23:34SPEAKER_00: God doesn't do that.
- 23:36SPEAKER_00: And we have a hard time with that, especially when people repetitiously sin and do it over and over and over and over again because I just, you know, and and we are creatures of habit.
- 23:47SPEAKER_00: A lot of times our sin is repetitious because we are that.
- 23:50SPEAKER_00: It's part of our humanity, it's also part of being born with a free will, and it's also part of being born with an enemy that has reign over the entire world.
- 24:02SPEAKER_00: So we got a few things stacked against us, but guess what?
- 24:05SPEAKER_00: If you know the Lord, you'll know that the Lord already knows that about us.
- 24:10SPEAKER_00: He knows that we're dealing with all that.
- 24:13SPEAKER_00: That's why there is mercy and forgiveness.
- 24:16SPEAKER_00: That's why he gives it because he loves us so much.
- 24:19SPEAKER_00: But we have to ask for it.
- 24:23SPEAKER_00: You know, we it is it's freely given, but you have to ask for it.
- 24:29SPEAKER_00: He's not gonna force you to quit sinning.
- 24:34SPEAKER_00: But he will forgive you if you do.
- 24:35SPEAKER_00: If you ask him to forgive you, he will.
- 24:38SPEAKER_00: If you think about someone who's wronged you or hurt your feelings or done something to you, and you've had a really hard time forgiving them.
- 24:47SPEAKER_00: Really, really, really hard time.
- 24:50SPEAKER_00: One thing I want to encourage you to do today, right now, if there's somebody that came to your mind right now as I brought this up, I want you to go to the Lord and give it to Him.
- 25:02SPEAKER_00: You may not be able to handle it, but God can.
- 25:05SPEAKER_00: And God will help you get over that and help you to forgive that.
- 25:08SPEAKER_00: My grandma shared an instant in a situation with me one time.
- 25:12SPEAKER_00: I'm not going to share the story, I'm just going to share what she did.
- 25:15SPEAKER_00: She had a hard time forgiving someone that hurt her really badly.
- 25:20SPEAKER_00: And she knew in order to face this person, she had to find forgiveness in her heart because she knew that she would not be nice to this person if she saw them face to face.
- 25:31SPEAKER_00: Because she had that animosity, she had that hurt and that pain.
- 25:34SPEAKER_00: And she knew that would be on the outside, that would be her outward, you know, presence with her.
- 25:40SPEAKER_00: And she went in, she had a little house on the outside of her house.
- 25:44SPEAKER_00: She would go out to the little house, and that's where she did a lot of praying, a lot of praying out in that little house.
- 25:49SPEAKER_00: I mean, you want to talk about a prayer closet, that little house had lots of prayer in it.
- 25:55SPEAKER_00: But excuse me, she prayed.
- 25:58SPEAKER_00: And this is what she what she said.
- 26:00SPEAKER_00: She said, Lord, I can't forgive him, but I know through you I can.
- 26:06SPEAKER_00: And she had to keep telling herself that.
- 26:08SPEAKER_00: And she told herself that until she came to the realization that she couldn't do it on her own, but she knew with God she could do it.
- 26:18SPEAKER_00: Because God requires it.
- 26:20SPEAKER_00: God requires that we forgive one another, just like he requires us to love one another, just like he requires us to know the Lord.
- 26:28SPEAKER_00: So it's important that we understand that.
- 26:30SPEAKER_00: So if there's somebody that comes to your mind today, and you're having a really hard time forgiving that person for whatever it is they did, whatever.
- 26:38SPEAKER_00: It could be horrible.
- 26:39SPEAKER_00: Maybe what they did to you was just you may think it's just absolutely unforgivable.
- 26:44SPEAKER_00: It's not okay.
- 26:49SPEAKER_00: Take it to the Lord.
- 26:51SPEAKER_00: Ask God, help me to forgive and the big font, like Bethany said, let's get the big A word in there.
- 27:00SPEAKER_00: And help me to remember it no more.
- 27:04SPEAKER_00: Even if you don't go to that person and tell them that you forgive them, or you go to them and ask them to ask you to be forgiven by them, just forgive them today.
- 27:15SPEAKER_00: And and let God work, let Him take that off of you, that burden away.
- 27:20SPEAKER_00: And I'm telling you, the joy that comes with doing that.
- 27:24SPEAKER_00: Like Bethany said, she doesn't get excited about much, but this is exciting to know that we are forgiven when we don't deserve forgiveness.
- 27:33SPEAKER_00: We are not worthy of forgiveness.
- 27:35SPEAKER_00: None of us are.
- 27:37SPEAKER_00: We're automatically born right into sin.
- 27:40SPEAKER_00: If we have to repent for sin, then we're in trouble already, right off the gate.
- 27:43SPEAKER_00: You know, we're we're already in trouble, you know.
- 27:47SPEAKER_00: And all we have to do is ask God to forgive it, and it's forgiven.
- 27:50SPEAKER_00: That's it.
- 27:51SPEAKER_00: God, there's no there's no clause of requirements that go with it.
- 27:56SPEAKER_00: Well, I'll forgive you if you do this.
- 27:58SPEAKER_00: Well, I'll forgive you.
- 27:59SPEAKER_00: I'll forgive you, I'll forgive you.
- 28:03SPEAKER_00: The woman that was going to be stoned had five, five affairs.
- 28:12SPEAKER_00: Five affairs, affairs, not relationships, not marriage, affairs.
- 28:18SPEAKER_00: So she had these affairs, and she kept having them.
- 28:22SPEAKER_00: And with married men or whatever, you know, it was just wasn't a good thing for her.
- 28:27SPEAKER_00: And the town knew about it.
- 28:28SPEAKER_00: She was talked about, she wasn't talked very nice about.
- 28:32SPEAKER_00: Nowadays, you know, it just seems like everybody does whatever nowadays, but back then that was really frowned upon.
- 28:42SPEAKER_00: But what did Jesus do?
- 28:44SPEAKER_00: What did he tell the crowd?
- 28:48SPEAKER_00: If any of you have no sin, then you can throw the first stone.
- 28:54SPEAKER_00: What happened?
- 28:56SPEAKER_00: And he looked at the woman and he said, Woman, where are your accusers?
- 29:00SPEAKER_00: There wasn't any.
- 29:03SPEAKER_00: Because we all sin, every one of us.
- 29:08SPEAKER_00: But are we all forgiven?
- 29:11SPEAKER_00: Ask yourself, am I forgiven?
- 29:14SPEAKER_00: Well, if you want to be, this scripture right here tells you what to do and tells you how easy it is.
- 29:22SPEAKER_00: We complicate things, we like things complicated.
- 29:27SPEAKER_00: It's not complicated to God, and I'm sure God probably is up there shaking his head more than more than not because we complicate things so much.
- 29:36SPEAKER_00: This is his assurance.
- 29:38SPEAKER_00: It's signed, sealed, and delivered right in his word for you, for me, for all of us.
- 29:44SPEAKER_00: And what are we doing with it?
- 29:46SPEAKER_00: This is something that I would encourage you to take advantage of.
- 29:50SPEAKER_00: Seriously.
- 29:52SPEAKER_00: I don't tell people to take advantage of things very often, but this right here, I would say get excited about this.
- 29:59SPEAKER_00: Because it's important.
- 30:00SPEAKER_00: If you don't ask God to forgive you before judgment day, you will answer to God for every sin that you have committed that you have not asked for forgiveness for.
- 30:10SPEAKER_00: And I'm going to say that again.
- 30:12SPEAKER_00: For the sin you have not asked for forgiveness, you will stand before God and give an account to it.
- 30:21SPEAKER_00: So think about that.
- 30:25SPEAKER_00: You might want to check out your history.
- 30:28SPEAKER_00: And you might have sin that you've forgotten about.
- 30:31SPEAKER_00: You might have sin that you don't even know you've done.
- 30:33SPEAKER_00: Just ask God to forgive it.
- 30:34SPEAKER_00: It's really easy.
- 30:36SPEAKER_00: I ask God to forgive me for the sins I know about and the ones I don't know about because sometimes I do things and I don't even realize I do them.
- 30:42SPEAKER_00: Sometimes it's not intentional.
- 30:44SPEAKER_00: Sometimes we do sin intentionally.
- 30:47SPEAKER_00: Sometimes we don't.
- 30:49SPEAKER_00: God also knows our heart.
- 30:54SPEAKER_00: He knows the pureness of our heart and what's really true and what's really not true.
- 31:00SPEAKER_00: Now, if we tell him, well, God, I, you know, forgive me for these sins that I don't know that I'm doing, but you know what you're doing.
- 31:07SPEAKER_00: Well, don't don't go to the Lord and lie to the Lord, right?
- 31:09SPEAKER_00: I wouldn't recommend that.
- 31:11SPEAKER_00: Just confess it.
- 31:13SPEAKER_00: Because he already knows if you're lying or not.
- 31:15SPEAKER_00: So don't do it.
- 31:17SPEAKER_00: So the scripture is great.
- 31:19SPEAKER_00: It's simple, it's right to the point.
- 31:23SPEAKER_00: And I mean, it gives you that 100% assurance that the forgiveness is there and the sin is no more.
- 31:31SPEAKER_00: It's no longer.
- 31:33SPEAKER_00: What sin?
- 31:36SPEAKER_00: When Jesus turned around, he said to the woman, Where are your accusers?
- 31:40SPEAKER_00: That's what God's going to say to your sin.
- 31:42SPEAKER_00: What sin?
- 31:43SPEAKER_00: Where is your sin?
- 31:44SPEAKER_00: I don't see it.
- 31:46SPEAKER_00: You're already forgiven for it.
- 31:48SPEAKER_00: What a glorious thing that'll be.
- 31:51SPEAKER_00: All of the mistakes and dumb things I've done in my lifetime, I'm excited about that.
- 31:57SPEAKER_00: Because I'm going to tell you right now, I've had a lot of people in my life that like to rub stuff in.
- 32:02SPEAKER_00: They like to throw it back at you, put it in your face constantly, you know.
- 32:06SPEAKER_00: And we live in a world that we do that.
- 32:09SPEAKER_00: We walk around carrying the stones.
- 32:14SPEAKER_00: But Jesus says, all right, if you're a sinner, you can't throw that stone.
- 32:24SPEAKER_00: So be careful.
- 32:27SPEAKER_00: It also says, if we're going to look at someone else's sin, you better look at your own.
- 32:34SPEAKER_00: You better get that beam plucked out of your own eye before you look at this liver in somebody else's.
- 32:39SPEAKER_00: We have to be careful.
- 32:40SPEAKER_00: And I know we'll get more into that as we dive in.
- 32:42SPEAKER_00: I know we have another scripture to talk about, but I really want you to really concentrate and think about how simple this scripture is.
- 32:50SPEAKER_00: If you are looking for assurance, it is right here.
- 32:55SPEAKER_00: God's word, his love letter to us, the whole Bible, is all assurance.
- 33:02SPEAKER_00: Every bit of it.
- 33:04SPEAKER_00: You can go down to the to the insurance company and you can get coverage.
- 33:08SPEAKER_00: You're never going to get the coverage that you'll get in this word.
- 33:12SPEAKER_00: Ever.
- 33:12SPEAKER_00: From anybody.
- 33:14SPEAKER_00: There is not a person on this earth that can give you the assurance that God can.
- 33:20SPEAKER_00: Think about that.
- 33:21SPEAKER_00: That's why it says you might want to get to know who the Lord is.
- 33:25SPEAKER_00: If you don't know him like that, you need to know him like that.
- 33:30SPEAKER_00: The insurance company, he's just gonna give you a bunch of baloney.
- 33:35SPEAKER_00: Then when you really get in the accident, you're gonna find out how much coverage you really don't have.
- 33:41SPEAKER_00: Or if something happens, you'll find out what you really don't have.
- 33:43SPEAKER_00: But with God, it doesn't work that way.
- 33:48SPEAKER_00: And I'm so thankful.
- 33:49SPEAKER_00: I know, Bethany, you are.
- 33:50SPEAKER_00: I mean, it is exciting.
- 33:52SPEAKER_00: We should be excited about it.
- 33:55SPEAKER_00: We should be telling people about how good God is.
- 33:58SPEAKER_00: A lot of people like, you know, you know, they're they hem and ha, and God is great.
- 34:04SPEAKER_00: He's so sovereign.
- 34:06SPEAKER_00: And we don't even we don't even see it or understand it necessarily to the to the depth that He has of the love that He has for us.
- 34:18SPEAKER_00: I don't think we I don't think we'll ever know, obviously, until we are face to face with God to be able to understand that that that um that depth from God.
- 34:31SPEAKER_00: But this scripture being so simple, just it's I mean, it's it's just amazing to me that we we we ask the questions, why?
- 34:44SPEAKER_00: Why?
- 34:45SPEAKER_00: God doesn't want us asking why do we need forgiveness, he just wants us to be forgiven.
- 34:50SPEAKER_00: We were born into the sin.
- 34:52SPEAKER_00: We are sinners.
- 34:54SPEAKER_00: If if you think for one second you're not a sinner, you are mistaken.
- 35:00SPEAKER_00: I can show you scripture after scripture after scripture that proves that you are a sinner.
- 35:05SPEAKER_00: From Genesis to Romans, right from the garden.
- 35:09SPEAKER_00: We are sinners.
- 35:10SPEAKER_00: We are born into sin from Adam and Eve.
- 35:13SPEAKER_00: Yes, because we came after them.
- 35:18SPEAKER_00: So we're born into sin.
- 35:21SPEAKER_00: We're sinners as soon as we're created in the womb, we're sinners.
- 35:26SPEAKER_00: But God gave us a, you know, God gave us the ticket, He gave us the assurance.
- 35:34SPEAKER_00: So if God's so willing to give us this assurance, why aren't we giving it to others?
- 35:40SPEAKER_00: We need to be doing the same thing.
- 35:43SPEAKER_00: If we want to act and be the hands and feet of Jesus, like it says we're supposed to be, then we need to give it to others.
- 35:49SPEAKER_00: And it's hard.
- 35:50SPEAKER_00: There's times that I don't want to forgive people that keep hurting me.
- 35:55SPEAKER_00: Sometimes I don't want to do it.
- 35:58SPEAKER_00: Take it to the Lord, give it to God, let him help you get through it.
- 36:03SPEAKER_00: Because he wants you to have that peace, that path, that's all understanding.
- 36:08SPEAKER_00: You won't have that if you don't forgive.
- 36:12SPEAKER_00: And you won't have it if you're not forgiven.
- 36:14SPEAKER_00: You're gonna have that hanging over you like a big old suitcase of baggage.
- 36:20SPEAKER_00: Carrying it out.
- 36:23SPEAKER_00: If you want free today, give it to God.
- 36:27SPEAKER_00: I encourage you, that person that came to your mind, I want you just to say, God, you know already.
- 36:33SPEAKER_00: You know who this is, you know why, you know the situation.
- 36:37SPEAKER_00: You don't even have to explain it to God.
- 36:38SPEAKER_00: He already knows, by the way.
- 36:40SPEAKER_00: You know, sometimes we spend a lot of time explaining things to the Lord.
- 36:43SPEAKER_00: I'm sure is that they're going, can you just get to the bottom line?
- 36:46SPEAKER_00: You know, I think we do that sometimes.
- 36:48SPEAKER_00: But I mean, he loves us, but he does already know.
- 36:51SPEAKER_00: Just give it to him.
- 36:52SPEAKER_00: Just say, God, you already know the situation.
- 36:54SPEAKER_00: You, you know, just help me with it.
- 36:57SPEAKER_00: Help me to forgive this person.
- 37:01SPEAKER_00: And he will.
- 37:03SPEAKER_00: Because guess what?
- 37:04SPEAKER_00: God's already forgiven them, I bet.
- 37:07SPEAKER_00: If they ask for forgiveness, maybe not from you, but from God, they're already forgiven.
- 37:15SPEAKER_00: And they're walking around happy as could be, and you're the one carrying all the animosity.
- 37:21SPEAKER_00: So, you know, think about some of these things, you know.
- 37:24SPEAKER_00: Get to know who God is and get to know who the Lord is.
- 37:27SPEAKER_00: So you know, you know, the simplicity that He has, how much love He has for you.
- 37:34SPEAKER_00: So we have another scripture I know that Bethany is going to share with us.
- 37:38SPEAKER_00: I really wanted to touch base on that because I really wanted to emphasize the importance of how much assurance this scripture actually holds.
- 37:47SPEAKER_00: Very powerful scripture.
- 37:48SPEAKER_00: Just one scripture in the Bible holds so much power.
- 37:52SPEAKER_00: No, like you said, it's unbelievable.
- 37:54SPEAKER_00: So go ahead, Bethany, I'll let you dive into the next scripture.
- 37:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah, um, before I do that, you know, when we think of the entire Bible, and we're looking at just one verse.
- 38:17SPEAKER_01: And like you say, Mickey, how powerful that one verse is.
- 38:26SPEAKER_01: Give the Bible a chance to prove to you just how powerful all the other verses are.
- 38:37SPEAKER_01: Because they are that's the excitement and the joy, and I can hardly contain myself whenever I am in the Bible, whenever I am doing what the Lord has called me to do.
- 39:04SPEAKER_01: And I encourage you as well with this verse, write it out.
- 39:15SPEAKER_01: Take time to write it out and put it somewhere where you see it every day.
- 39:27SPEAKER_01: I've mentioned it before on here, but you know, it's great that verses are in the Bible.
- 39:36SPEAKER_01: It's great that we have access to the Bible, no matter whether it's in print or on the internet or wherever it is.
- 39:51SPEAKER_01: But it doesn't do us any good unless we open it, unless we read it, unless we apply it.
- 40:03SPEAKER_01: And so I encourage you write out this verse, put it somewhere where you see it every day.
- 40:12SPEAKER_01: That way, if you don't open your Bible on a particular day for whatever reason, you can still see the verse, and you can still be reminded that yes, I can know the Lord, and I have the assurance that He forgives and He forgets and the importance that we need to do the same because we do.
- 40:53SPEAKER_01: I strongly believe that to truly live like what God wants those of us who are Christians to live.
- 41:07SPEAKER_01: We we need to stop being like I'll forgive well, but I'll never forget.
- 41:15SPEAKER_01: We need to stop and we need to truly forgive and truly forget because if we don't I don't believe we're living like God wants us to live.
- 41:34SPEAKER_01: And so now the other verse for today that I wanted to share is also in Jeremiah.
- 41:47SPEAKER_01: But it's Jeremiah chapter 50 5-0 Jeremiah 50 and verse 20.
- 41:59SPEAKER_01: I think another foundational verse.
- 42:04SPEAKER_01: Another verse that we can cling to, that we can have assurance from.
- 43:45SPEAKER_01: Because what is pardon?
- 43:50SPEAKER_01: Pardon is forgiveness.
- 43:55SPEAKER_01: Notice who God pardons.
- 44:02SPEAKER_01: He pardons those who he preserves.
- 44:09SPEAKER_01: Now what what is that about?
- 44:13SPEAKER_01: No.
- 44:15SPEAKER_01: If you're um new to the Bible, what what is that talking about?
- 44:27SPEAKER_01: To me, how I see that is I see that as God saying I'm forgiving who has asked for forgiveness as Megan, I have mentioned even in this episode the importance of genuine confession, genuine repentance.
- 45:15SPEAKER_01: Jeremiah fifty, verse twenty.
- 45:20SPEAKER_01: He's talking to those who are Christians.
- 45:52SPEAKER_01: I do believe that God knew those who were his those who were reserved.
- 46:07SPEAKER_01: To me, I think of it as one year reserving let's say a hotel room.
- 46:22SPEAKER_01: If you're going on a trip or something, what do you reserve to you reserve a room so that way the people at the hotel know that that room is reserved for you.
- 46:42SPEAKER_01: Today when you become a Christian, God reserves you for eternity in heaven.
- 46:58SPEAKER_01: And maybe this is uh not the greatest example, but it's it's one that the Lord has laid on my heart um regarding Jeremiah fifty verse twenty.
- 47:30SPEAKER_01: So maybe not as strong of a assurance as Jeremiah 3134.
- 47:47SPEAKER_01: But I do believe it's still an unsure assurance for us to understand that when we repent, when we confess our sins, not just for becoming a Christian, but for that time from becoming a Christian until eternity.
- 48:15SPEAKER_01: And so encouragement to know that when you truly confess God forgives and He forgets Starting today, starting right now.
- 48:56SPEAKER_01: You can have the assurance that whenever Satan comes and attacks you with things, accuses you of things that you know you have forgiven.
- 49:11SPEAKER_01: You know you have confessed to God and God has forgiven you.
- 49:22SPEAKER_01: It's already taken care of.
- 49:24SPEAKER_01: So I'm not I'm not submitting to you.
- 49:28SPEAKER_01: I'm not I'm resisting you.
- 49:37SPEAKER_01: Not that we should have interaction with Satan because I I I don't know that we should other than to tell him this is what this is what I've confessed, God, this is what has been forgiven.
- 50:08SPEAKER_01: So your Satan, your accusations against me don't stand.
- 50:18SPEAKER_01: So, Mickey, what are your thoughts on this?
- 50:24SPEAKER_00: One thing I really like about this scripture, and I think it holds just as much assurance as the other scripture, because when we do the salvation prayer and we ask God to come into our hearts, we ask him to forgive us of our sins, to take away our sins, and to take us to heaven.
- 50:39SPEAKER_00: This scripture clearly lets us know that he has reserved a spot for us.
- 50:44SPEAKER_00: We are our reserved.
- 50:46SPEAKER_00: Once we are forgiven.
- 50:47SPEAKER_00: Now, if you're not a Christian, Christians, people that are not Christians, people that don't believe in God, they're atheists, they don't believe in forgiveness either.
- 51:00SPEAKER_00: That doesn't mean they're bad people, don't get me wrong.
- 51:02SPEAKER_00: There's a lot of nice people out there.
- 51:05SPEAKER_00: Um, they, you know, they don't see a need for God because they they think, well, I'm a nice person.
- 51:12SPEAKER_00: I'm a good person.
- 51:13SPEAKER_00: I don't need God.
- 51:14SPEAKER_00: We all need God.
- 51:16SPEAKER_00: We all do.
- 51:17SPEAKER_00: It doesn't matter how nice you are, you know, or how good you are, or whatever.
- 51:22SPEAKER_00: Because it says you can't get to heaven.
- 51:24SPEAKER_00: Oh, excuse me.
- 51:26SPEAKER_00: Excuse me, sorry about that.
- 51:27SPEAKER_00: You can't get to heaven through your works and your kindness.
- 51:31SPEAKER_00: It doesn't say that.
- 51:33SPEAKER_00: God tells us what is what the requirements are.
- 51:38SPEAKER_00: And it's to be forgiven and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior.
- 51:44SPEAKER_00: You have to believe in Jesus.
- 51:45SPEAKER_00: That is the ultimate sin.
- 51:46SPEAKER_00: If you do not believe in Jesus, that is the ultimate sin right there.
- 51:52SPEAKER_00: Out of any other sin in the entire world, even over murder.
- 51:58SPEAKER_00: Crazy as that is, I'm not, that doesn't mean I'm saying go ahead and go murder someone.
- 52:01SPEAKER_00: That is not what I'm saying.
- 52:02SPEAKER_00: Please that make sure I am being clear here.
- 52:05SPEAKER_00: But when God pardons you, he gives you that freedom, he's not just giving you freedom, he's preparing a mansion for you in heaven.
- 52:19SPEAKER_00: On judgment day, when you're standing on the pearligates and you're standing before the Lord and He's asking you questions and you've been pardoned already.
- 52:27SPEAKER_00: There's some people that I think are gonna have a really long conversation with God because they have a lot of things that they have not confessed.
- 52:35SPEAKER_00: I think they're gonna be standing there for a hot minute.
- 52:37SPEAKER_00: And then there's some people that I that I think that he's gonna say, Well done, thou good and faithful.
- 52:42SPEAKER_00: You may enter in now.
- 52:43SPEAKER_00: I have a mansion I have prepared for you.
- 52:45SPEAKER_00: Here's your robe and here's your crown.
- 52:48SPEAKER_00: And we will we will reap the benefits based on what we do here.
- 52:53SPEAKER_00: And this is part of what we do.
- 52:55SPEAKER_00: This is why he's reserved that spot for us.
- 53:00SPEAKER_00: I remember my grandmother telling me one time when she was about, I think she was probably like 91 or 92.
- 53:08SPEAKER_00: So I was really shocked.
- 53:09SPEAKER_00: And my grandma's a very, very devout Christian, very, very good Christian.
- 53:14SPEAKER_00: Um, and um she just set the prime example of what a Christian was supposed to be like, you know.
- 53:22SPEAKER_00: And I remember her saying one day that she said, I hope I I did okay.
- 53:28SPEAKER_00: I just hope I did okay.
- 53:29SPEAKER_00: And I remember thinking, what are you talking about?
- 53:31SPEAKER_00: You did fantastic compared to you know, a lot of people and my even myself, you know, you have done amazing.
- 53:37SPEAKER_00: You're an amazing grandmother.
- 53:39SPEAKER_00: You're you have really set set the mold.
- 53:42SPEAKER_00: Um and the and the standards are high.
- 53:45SPEAKER_00: She she was and she was kind and loving.
- 53:48SPEAKER_00: And even when I made mistakes, she didn't like scold me.
- 53:52SPEAKER_00: She would sit me down and have a talk, and then and then she would tell me, you need to ask God to forgive you.
- 53:57SPEAKER_00: You need to spend some time with God.
- 53:58SPEAKER_00: She was real good about that.
- 54:01SPEAKER_00: And when she said that, I thought to myself, man, you're gonna have a huge mansion, you're gonna have an amazing robe, and you're gonna have lots of jewels in your crown when you get to heaven.
- 54:09SPEAKER_00: That's what I told her that day.
- 54:11SPEAKER_00: I said, God has already prepared what's coming for you, just like he has for you and me, all of us.
- 54:20SPEAKER_00: It says right here, it's already reserved.
- 54:23SPEAKER_00: Your spot is reserved, you're already pardoned, but you have to ask for it and you have to also believe in it.
- 54:36SPEAKER_00: If you don't believe that God forgives you, you're sadly mistaken for one, and for two, how sad is that for God?
- 54:47SPEAKER_00: Again, another mockery to him.
- 54:50SPEAKER_00: Because if he says he's gonna do it, then he does it.
- 54:54SPEAKER_00: He's done it, it's done, it's over.
- 54:58SPEAKER_00: And he's not gonna tell you 20 times, he just does it, and he that's the end.
- 55:05SPEAKER_00: We need to believe that, and if we don't believe that, then we're missing the whole picture.
- 55:11SPEAKER_00: We need to believe in salvation, and we need to believe in repentance, and we need to believe that we are forgiven.
- 55:18SPEAKER_00: Jesus said, Woman, where are your accusers?
- 55:21SPEAKER_00: There were none.
- 55:22SPEAKER_00: Not one in that whole town, there was not one accuser.
- 55:30SPEAKER_00: But he what did he say to her?
- 55:34SPEAKER_00: Your faith has made you whole, but go and sin no more.
- 55:39SPEAKER_00: Go and sin no more.
- 55:42SPEAKER_00: You're forgiven right now.
- 55:43SPEAKER_00: Go and try not to do that again, you know.
- 55:47SPEAKER_00: He said, Don't do it again.
- 55:48SPEAKER_00: Now, if she did it again, she's gonna have to go back and have another, you know, talk with Jesus.
- 55:55SPEAKER_00: And again, here's the thing: even if she did do it again, no one can still throw a stone.
- 56:02SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 56:03SPEAKER_00: Think about that.
- 56:05SPEAKER_00: How many times do people, and and I've done it myself, and especially when you're raising kids, you you're you know, parents, we we raise our kids and we want them to know their mistakes so that they can learn from them.
- 56:18SPEAKER_00: We're not trying to hurt them because they've made mistakes, we want them to learn from their mistakes.
- 56:22SPEAKER_00: So we tell our kids over and over again, stop doing that, stop doing that, you know.
- 56:27SPEAKER_00: And I know God probably thinks to us, yeah, I wish you would stop doing that too, you know.
- 56:33SPEAKER_00: When we're telling our kids and we're teaching them, don't do that, it's not gonna work out well for you, you know, if you keep doing this in your life.
- 56:41SPEAKER_00: God does the same thing.
- 56:44SPEAKER_00: But he doesn't stop loving us because we mess up.
- 56:48SPEAKER_00: We just have to fess up.
- 56:50SPEAKER_00: That's it.
- 56:50SPEAKER_00: We just have to just fess up.
- 56:52SPEAKER_00: Okay, God, I did it.
- 56:53SPEAKER_00: Okay, I did it again.
- 56:55SPEAKER_00: I'm sorry, I did it again.
- 56:56SPEAKER_00: I and then that's when you need to ask God to help you.
- 56:59SPEAKER_00: If you can't get over that sin, and you have a if you're stuck in that sin, you just cannot get past it.
- 57:05SPEAKER_00: That doesn't mean you still don't go ahead and ask for forgiveness and ask God to help you not to do sin.
- 57:14SPEAKER_00: Because some people think, well, I can't quit sin, so I'm just not gonna ask for forgiveness.
- 57:18SPEAKER_00: No, ask for forgiveness.
- 57:21SPEAKER_00: Ask for forgiveness.
- 57:24SPEAKER_00: You need to truly be sorry for what for the mistakes that you make, you know, the things that we do, the people that we hurt.
- 57:30SPEAKER_00: And sometimes our sin is stupid.
- 57:32SPEAKER_00: Sometimes our sin is just dumb.
- 57:34SPEAKER_00: We do dumb things.
- 57:36SPEAKER_00: Some things we do intentionally.
- 57:38SPEAKER_00: We need to ask God to forgive it.
- 57:41SPEAKER_00: And then we need to believe that He has.
- 57:44SPEAKER_00: The reason that we sometimes sin more and keep sinning, you want to know why?
- 57:48SPEAKER_00: It's because we don't think we're forgiven.
- 57:53SPEAKER_00: You got to quit hanging on to that.
- 57:56SPEAKER_00: Jeremiah clearly says you are forgiven.
- 58:04SPEAKER_00: And I remember it no more.
- 58:05SPEAKER_00: God doesn't remember it.
- 58:06SPEAKER_00: Why are you still remembering it?
- 58:09SPEAKER_00: There's not even a thought in his mind.
- 58:11SPEAKER_00: And he doesn't want to remember it again.
- 58:13SPEAKER_00: He wants it to be gone.
- 58:16SPEAKER_00: Do you want it to be gone?
- 58:17SPEAKER_00: That's the question.
- 58:18SPEAKER_00: Some people like to live in travesty, honestly.
- 58:21SPEAKER_00: They kind of bring on their own demise, if you will.
- 58:25SPEAKER_00: But if that's not you and you don't want that, and you really, really, really want to be forgiven, just remember that God will forgive you.
- 58:34SPEAKER_00: You are forgivable.
- 58:36SPEAKER_00: There's nothing that you do that's so bad that God will not forgive.
- 58:41SPEAKER_00: Even my kids, when my kids mess up, even if if my kid committed murder, I would not be happy.
- 58:49SPEAKER_00: No, I would not be happy.
- 58:50SPEAKER_00: I'd be very sad and I'd be worried and concerned for where his heart and his mind is at, of course.
- 58:56SPEAKER_00: But if if if they did that, but I would still love him or her.
- 59:02SPEAKER_00: I would love my kids, no matter what sin they did, you know.
- 59:07SPEAKER_00: And I would try to help them to know who God is.
- 59:11SPEAKER_00: I think sometimes when we do these sins, it's because we don't know the Lord.
- 59:17SPEAKER_00: We don't know him well enough.
- 59:20SPEAKER_00: He's over here on the on the shelf getting dirty, getting dusty.
- 59:24SPEAKER_00: We're not picking up the word.
- 59:26SPEAKER_00: The only time we think about God is on Sunday morning when we go to church and the pastor says, Hey, get your Bibles out.
- 59:32SPEAKER_00: Do you even have your Bible?
- 59:33SPEAKER_00: I've had pastors say, Does anybody actually have a Bible in here today?
- 59:37SPEAKER_00: A real Bible?
- 59:39SPEAKER_00: They say that in church now.
- 59:44SPEAKER_00: I mean, I kind of try not to laugh because I mean, I have my phone.
- 59:48SPEAKER_00: I have my computer, I have Audible.
- 59:50SPEAKER_00: I listen to Audible.
- 59:52SPEAKER_00: I listen to it on TV.
- 59:53SPEAKER_00: I like to listen to it when I'm cleaning the house and worship.
- 59:56SPEAKER_00: But I have my Bibles, I have stacks of Bibles.
- 1:00:00SPEAKER_00: I have some that are very special.
- 1:00:02SPEAKER_00: I have my grandmother's Bible.
- 1:00:04SPEAKER_00: I have a Bible that is so profoundly used that it's duct taped together.
- 1:00:12SPEAKER_00: And it's the most precious Bible in my home today.
- 1:00:16SPEAKER_00: It means so much to me because I know how much time my grandma spent in that word.
- 1:00:21SPEAKER_00: Out of everything in this house, that Bible holds the most value to me.
- 1:00:26SPEAKER_00: Out of everything, even over money.
- 1:00:30SPEAKER_00: If the house was on fire and I had to save something, it would probably be that Bible.
- 1:00:34SPEAKER_00: I guarantee you it'd be that Bible.
- 1:00:36SPEAKER_00: That's what I would go for.
- 1:00:38SPEAKER_00: Before anything else.
- 1:00:41SPEAKER_00: That's how much we are to know the Lord and love him.
- 1:00:45SPEAKER_00: Where's your Bible at?
- 1:00:46SPEAKER_00: Where's your Bible sitting?
- 1:00:48SPEAKER_00: Is it dirty?
- 1:00:49SPEAKER_00: Is it dusty?
- 1:00:54SPEAKER_00: And I'm not I'm not judging anybody that uses their phone.
- 1:00:57SPEAKER_00: If you use your phone and you take your phone, most people take their phone everywhere.
- 1:01:01SPEAKER_00: Sometimes we never set it down.
- 1:01:05SPEAKER_00: People get mad at me sometimes because I will take my phone and my charger is in my bedroom.
- 1:01:10SPEAKER_00: I don't charge my phone in the living room ever.
- 1:01:12SPEAKER_00: Because when I need to take a break from my phone, I put it in the room and I walk out and I leave it.
- 1:01:18SPEAKER_00: So I I separate myself from that, if that makes any sense.
- 1:01:23SPEAKER_00: It's a separation.
- 1:01:24SPEAKER_00: And I do that so it doesn't have control over me.
- 1:01:28SPEAKER_00: I have control over it.
- 1:01:29SPEAKER_00: I don't allow it to control me.
- 1:01:33SPEAKER_00: I just go and put the phone.
- 1:01:34SPEAKER_00: And people go, well, why didn't you answer your phone?
- 1:01:35SPEAKER_00: Well, I don't have to.
- 1:01:37SPEAKER_00: I don't always have to be on my phone.
- 1:01:40SPEAKER_00: People think you have to be readily available always.
- 1:01:45SPEAKER_00: It's really kind of crazy, isn't it?
- 1:01:48SPEAKER_00: I think we should talk about that someday.
- 1:01:50SPEAKER_00: But anyhow, I don't want to drag that out.
- 1:01:52SPEAKER_00: But if you are worried about being forgiven because of something that you've done, you need to understand.
- 1:02:00SPEAKER_00: You cannot get past it until you are forgiven.
- 1:02:06SPEAKER_00: To become saved, to become a Christian, it says to confess your sins and ask Jesus in your heart.
- 1:02:13SPEAKER_00: It doesn't say just ask Jesus in your heart.
- 1:02:16SPEAKER_00: To confess your sins first.
- 1:02:18SPEAKER_00: Ask Jesus in your heart.
- 1:02:21SPEAKER_00: It's part of your salvation.
- 1:02:23SPEAKER_00: That's why it says this scripture is also like a salvation scripture because it says, I will pardon them who I reserve.
- 1:02:32SPEAKER_00: They're pardoned, they're forgiven, they're reserved for eternity.
- 1:02:37SPEAKER_00: The salvation prayer.
- 1:02:38SPEAKER_00: We've asked for forgiveness, and then we have, we're sanctified in that salvation through Jesus Christ's blood.
- 1:02:47SPEAKER_00: Saying the same thing.
- 1:02:48SPEAKER_00: It's a powerful verse.
- 1:02:51SPEAKER_00: Lots of assurance.
- 1:02:52SPEAKER_00: And not only are we forgiven, but he's reserved our spot in heaven.
- 1:03:00SPEAKER_00: It's an extra assurance.
- 1:03:04SPEAKER_00: So I think it's I think it's a great verse.
- 1:03:06SPEAKER_00: And I know that we've, you know, we've only we've only shared two verses today, but like Bethany said, there's so much power.
- 1:03:14SPEAKER_00: Every verse in the Bible has a has it has so much power.
- 1:03:19SPEAKER_00: Every verse from start to finish, Genesis to Revelation.
- 1:03:25SPEAKER_00: In its own entity, it has so much power.
- 1:03:28SPEAKER_00: And when when sometimes when I look at a scripture and and and maybe I don't understand it fully.
- 1:03:35SPEAKER_00: Again, because I don't know the Lord well enough to understand it, maybe.
- 1:03:38SPEAKER_00: But the Lord is teaching me how to know him through the word, through his scripture.
- 1:03:44SPEAKER_00: He gave us an instruction manual.
- 1:03:49SPEAKER_00: And this is it.
- 1:03:50SPEAKER_00: He's saying, I have pardoned you and I reserved a spot for you.
- 1:03:53SPEAKER_00: All you have to do is ask me.
- 1:03:57SPEAKER_00: Don't sit on it any longer.
- 1:04:00SPEAKER_00: I really encourage you today not to sit on it.
- 1:04:02SPEAKER_00: Ask God to forgive you.
- 1:04:05SPEAKER_00: Even if you're struggling with it, ask him to forgive you.
- 1:04:08SPEAKER_00: Even if you don't think he'll forgive you, ask him to forgive you.
- 1:04:12SPEAKER_00: That is the why.
- 1:04:14SPEAKER_00: Just do it.
- 1:04:16SPEAKER_00: We're sitting here, if we're sitting on the why, why, well, why?
- 1:04:20SPEAKER_00: Why should I do it?
- 1:04:21SPEAKER_00: Why should I do it?
- 1:04:21SPEAKER_00: Why?
- 1:04:23SPEAKER_00: I'll do it later.
- 1:04:25SPEAKER_00: Don't do that.
- 1:04:28SPEAKER_00: Just do it and get on with it.
- 1:04:30SPEAKER_00: What are you waiting for?
- 1:04:32SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna tell you, there's so much joy that comes with it and so much peace.
- 1:04:35SPEAKER_00: There's so much peace.
- 1:04:38SPEAKER_00: There really is.
- 1:04:39SPEAKER_00: There's people in my life that I have had a hard time forgiving.
- 1:04:42SPEAKER_00: And I finally just said, you know what, God?
- 1:04:45SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna forgive them because your word says to, not because I'm happy about it, by the way.
- 1:04:50SPEAKER_00: There's times I had this conversation with God.
- 1:04:52SPEAKER_00: I don't know about you, Bethany, if you've had this same conversation, but I was like, okay, God, your word says that we are commanded to forgive one another.
- 1:04:59SPEAKER_00: So I'm going to forgive this person, although I am still not happy.
- 1:05:04SPEAKER_00: God doesn't say you have to be happy.
- 1:05:06SPEAKER_00: Doesn't say you have to like it either.
- 1:05:09SPEAKER_00: Another thing my grandmother taught me when I used to get really frustrated with my mom.
- 1:05:14SPEAKER_00: And she said, you have to honor your mother and your father.
- 1:05:16SPEAKER_00: That's what the word says, right?
- 1:05:17SPEAKER_00: And I said, Yeah, but I don't want to.
- 1:05:18SPEAKER_00: And she said, God didn't ask you what you wanted.
- 1:05:20SPEAKER_00: He said to do it.
- 1:05:21SPEAKER_00: And he goes, and he didn't say you had to like it either.
- 1:05:24SPEAKER_00: And I said, Oh wow, she just put me right in my place.
- 1:05:26SPEAKER_00: She just put me right in my place in two seconds.
- 1:05:29SPEAKER_00: It was a simple conversation that she had with me.
- 1:05:32SPEAKER_00: And it was it was straight to the truth.
- 1:05:35SPEAKER_00: We want to put God in a box and we want to put stipulations on God.
- 1:05:39SPEAKER_00: God doesn't allow that.
- 1:05:42SPEAKER_00: We're gonna be in a lot of trouble if we continue to keep trying to do that with God.
- 1:05:46SPEAKER_00: When Jesus returns, we're gonna find out real quick what power is coming.
- 1:05:52SPEAKER_00: And it's coming sooner than later, mind you.
- 1:05:55SPEAKER_00: It is coming, and I believe in my lifetime.
- 1:06:00SPEAKER_00: In your lifetime, right?
- 1:06:01SPEAKER_00: You know, like soon.
- 1:06:02SPEAKER_00: He could come back at any time.
- 1:06:04SPEAKER_00: The prophecies are almost completely fulfilled.
- 1:06:06SPEAKER_00: Not all of them, but a lot of them have been fulfilled.
- 1:06:09SPEAKER_00: Hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of prophecies from Genesis to now have been fulfilled.
- 1:06:17SPEAKER_00: And he can come back at any time.
- 1:06:19SPEAKER_00: Be ready.
- 1:06:21SPEAKER_00: It says to be ready in and out of season.
- 1:06:25SPEAKER_00: You need to be prepared.
- 1:06:27SPEAKER_00: Prepare your heart.
- 1:06:29SPEAKER_00: Your heart is what's going to be on trial, by the way.
- 1:06:34SPEAKER_00: Not what people see on the outside.
- 1:06:36SPEAKER_00: It's what God sees on the inside that's going to be on trial.
- 1:06:39SPEAKER_00: What does that look like?
- 1:06:40SPEAKER_00: Take a look, take a deep look at yourself.
- 1:06:43SPEAKER_00: Do some soul searching and say, where am I?
- 1:06:45SPEAKER_00: Where am I?
- 1:06:46SPEAKER_00: Am I a good person?
- 1:06:47SPEAKER_00: And I'm not talking about, yeah, I get up and I help people, or I, you know, I do this or I do that, and yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:06:52SPEAKER_00: Pat yourself on the back and all that, give yourself brownie points, whatever.
- 1:06:55SPEAKER_00: No, I don't talk about that kind of stuff.
- 1:06:56SPEAKER_00: I'm talking about your pureness of heart.
- 1:07:01SPEAKER_00: And there's times that I have to self-check myself and be like, Lord, you better help me today because I am on one.
- 1:07:06SPEAKER_00: I'm having a day.
- 1:07:08SPEAKER_00: But God knows this and he works with us.
- 1:07:12SPEAKER_00: And we have to make a decision what to do with it.
- 1:07:16SPEAKER_00: Because he loves us.
- 1:07:18SPEAKER_00: So, Bethany, do you have anything you want to add to to these scriptures before we go into closing?
- 1:07:25SPEAKER_00: It's good today.
- 1:07:26SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh.
- 1:07:27SPEAKER_00: I mean, the word is just, it's so the it just baffles me that the word has so much simplicity, yet we complicate it to the extreme.
- 1:07:38SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 1:07:39SPEAKER_00: When I when I when I sit in a room with theologians and they are arguing about the word, and they're arguing about the scripture, and I'm thinking, you guys have missed the the whole boat.
- 1:07:52SPEAKER_00: The boat is done sailed.
- 1:07:53SPEAKER_00: Where yeah, you're all sitting here arguing.
- 1:07:56SPEAKER_00: I I I get blown away because we want to we want to amp it up to make it something that it's that it's not.
- 1:08:06SPEAKER_00: God is a simple God.
- 1:08:08SPEAKER_00: He's not even difficult.
- 1:08:11SPEAKER_00: But boy, we are.
- 1:08:14SPEAKER_00: We can be, you know, we can be really difficult.
- 1:08:17SPEAKER_00: Um so in closing, um, that you don't you don't really have anything else to add today, or okay.
- 1:08:24SPEAKER_00: So again, I just want you to know if you're looking for assurance, these scriptures are it.
- 1:08:29SPEAKER_00: And I'm gonna tell you, like Bethany has already told you, it's a really good idea to take scripture and place it around your house.
- 1:08:37SPEAKER_00: I I had um a gal made me a journal, and we were doing a um a secret sister exchange, and it was the coolest gift.
- 1:08:48SPEAKER_00: And I remember her telling me she was a single mom with two or three kids.
- 1:08:53SPEAKER_00: I think she had she was two kids and pregnant with another kid, single mom.
- 1:08:58SPEAKER_00: And um, she really she wanted a secret sister, but she didn't really have the money to participate, but she did it anyway.
- 1:09:05SPEAKER_00: So she had a little tiny journal, and in that journal, she went and wrote on every single page a scripture out of God's word.
- 1:09:14SPEAKER_00: And it was very moving for me.
- 1:09:16SPEAKER_00: It meant more to me than anything anyone could have given me.
- 1:09:19SPEAKER_00: And she said, I'm sorry it wasn't much.
- 1:09:21SPEAKER_00: I said, Are you kidding me?
- 1:09:23SPEAKER_00: It's it's like the most amazing thing you could have ever given me.
- 1:09:26SPEAKER_00: So every day that I used it, I wrote the scripture out and I would place it around the house on sticky notes so I could have that scripture that day.
- 1:09:34SPEAKER_00: And it would just be such a huge, I told her it was a huge blessing.
- 1:09:39SPEAKER_00: Because we take for granted God's word.
- 1:09:44SPEAKER_00: And she thought she didn't give me anything.
- 1:09:46SPEAKER_00: You know, like the woman that gave her last two mites, that's what she gave me when she wrote out the word in this little tiny journal that she gave me.
- 1:09:55SPEAKER_00: She gave me her last two mites.
- 1:09:57SPEAKER_00: And I thought, wow, she has no idea how amazing this little gift is to me.
- 1:10:05SPEAKER_00: I still have it.
- 1:10:06SPEAKER_00: I don't write in it.
- 1:10:06SPEAKER_00: I don't even write in the journal.
- 1:10:08SPEAKER_00: I don't like to write in it.
- 1:10:09SPEAKER_00: It's so special to me.
- 1:10:10SPEAKER_00: I don't even write in the journal.
- 1:10:11SPEAKER_00: But I've used the journal, I've gone to the journal so many times to write into other people's journals because she has the scripture all out and it's just amazing.
- 1:10:21SPEAKER_00: And I so I ended up doing one for my grandmother before she passed away and a couple of my friends.
- 1:10:26SPEAKER_00: And and um my grandmother, I I'll share this story real quick and then we'll close.
- 1:10:30SPEAKER_00: But my grandmother um had just lost her brother and she was having a really hard time handling it.
- 1:10:36SPEAKER_00: And um, so she wasn't really um up for conversation, let's say.
- 1:10:41SPEAKER_00: She just was kind of you know in a little bit of a depressed state because she was missing her brother.
- 1:10:46SPEAKER_00: And um, they were very close, and he was a pastor, and they're just really close.
- 1:10:49SPEAKER_00: Anyhow, I got a journal for her, and not every page, but I would just open up the pages and I would just write little notes like, Oh, I love you, you're so amazing, God bless you, write a scripture, da-da-da-da.
- 1:11:01SPEAKER_00: But I would just go every three, four, four pages, five pages.
- 1:11:04SPEAKER_00: Sometimes I'd stick a little picture or draw her little picture, you know, whatever.
- 1:11:07SPEAKER_00: And then I went and I took the journal and I stuck it on her nightstand in with her books, and I didn't tell her about it.
- 1:11:14SPEAKER_00: She found it like six months later.
- 1:11:16SPEAKER_00: She didn't even know it was there.
- 1:11:18SPEAKER_00: And she said she sat on her bed and cried and cried and cried because I had left her such a special gift.
- 1:11:25SPEAKER_00: And I I didn't think it was gonna take her six months.
- 1:11:27SPEAKER_00: I was thinking, is she ever gonna find that journal?
- 1:11:29SPEAKER_00: You know, but I never told her.
- 1:11:31SPEAKER_00: I I did I just stayed quiet.
- 1:11:32SPEAKER_00: And it was such a special thing to her because when she said, she said, I found it when I needed it the most.
- 1:11:40SPEAKER_00: Uh oh, are you there?
- 1:11:46SPEAKER_00: I don't know what happened to our screen.
- 1:11:51SPEAKER_00: Okay, I don't know if we're recording or not.
- 1:12:04SPEAKER_00: Are you there?
- 1:12:05SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I'm there.
- 1:12:06SPEAKER_00: Hang on a second.
- 1:12:08SPEAKER_00: Can you see me?
- 1:12:10SPEAKER_00: No.
- 1:12:10SPEAKER_00: Okay, something happened to my computer, but it's okay, we're back.
- 1:12:13SPEAKER_00: I don't know what happened, so I apologize.
- 1:12:15SPEAKER_00: That we're closing anyway, but anyway, thank you, Bethany, for bringing that scripture.
- 1:12:18SPEAKER_00: It was is perfect um for this topic of discussion.
- 1:12:22SPEAKER_00: Um, I'm not sure if we will continue on with this series or we will start a new one, but um just want you guys to understand that um forgiveness is a very, very important part of what God requires us to do.
- 1:12:35SPEAKER_00: And it's a commandment.
- 1:12:36SPEAKER_00: He can he commands us to be to forgive one another, like he commands us to love one another.
- 1:12:41SPEAKER_00: Um, so keep that in mind when you're you know you're having it out with someone, you know, or if someone's having it out with you.
- 1:12:48SPEAKER_00: And you know, we need to be in in a place in our mind and in our hearts that we need to be able to forgive one another.
- 1:12:56SPEAKER_00: Um if we want God to forgive us, we have to forgive each other.
- 1:13:01SPEAKER_00: So make sure you're doing that.
- 1:13:02SPEAKER_00: And if you're struggling with it, just ask God to help you.
- 1:13:05SPEAKER_00: Because He He wants to help you.
- 1:13:07SPEAKER_00: So just remember that.
- 1:13:09SPEAKER_00: So, Bethany, thank you for bringing the scripture.
- 1:13:11SPEAKER_00: And um, for all of our listeners, I sorry about that little glitch.
- 1:13:14SPEAKER_00: I hope that it's still recording.
- 1:13:15SPEAKER_00: I'm hoping I think we're still recording.
- 1:13:17SPEAKER_00: Um, but if not, then we cut we got cut off at the end.
- 1:13:21SPEAKER_00: So um we will be back um next week with another episode.
- 1:13:25SPEAKER_00: I do not know yet um if it's going to be a continuation or if we're gonna start a new series, but thank you guys for watching.
- 1:13:31SPEAKER_00: Thank you for being here.
- 1:13:32SPEAKER_00: We love you.
- 1:13:32SPEAKER_00: If you have any questions, make sure to like, follow, and share it.
- 1:13:34SPEAKER_00: Share this episode, as well as reach out to Bethany and I if you have any questions or if you need prayer for anything, we'd be glad to pray for you.
- 1:13:42SPEAKER_00: So thank you, Bethany, for bringing the word today.
- 1:13:51SPEAKER_03: There we go.
