- 0:38Living a life for Christ. She's a happy girl.
- 0:38Music.
- 0:48She's a happy girl.
- 1:02We have a promise. that if we keep God's commandments and have our ways to be
- 1:07pleasing in His sight, God will deliver us when we pray. What a deal!
- 1:13These requirements are not difficult for a child of God because Christ is walking
- 1:17with you and the Holy Spirit is dwelling in you.
- 1:21Both God and the Holy Spirit are instructing you in the way that you should go.
- 1:25It is simple to see that if you are keeping His commandments,
- 1:29then your requests are going to be within His will.
- 1:33Join us in this broadcast talk on the basis of your walk, as Kim Miller of Woman
- 1:39at the Well Ministries takes us through 1 John 3, 22, which says,
- 1:44And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments and
- 1:49do those things that are pleasing in his sight.
- 1:52Hello, and welcome to this broadcast of Woman at the Well Ministries. Let us pray.
- 1:56Our kind and most gracious, dear Heavenly Father, Lord, we are so thankful that
- 2:00you are a God that watches over us. that you're a God that cares about us and
- 2:04that you're a God that leads the way and protects us and supplies our every need.
- 2:08Lord, we're so thankful that you live to absolutely take care of us and that
- 2:14you have proven that to us over and over again.
- 2:17Lord, we are so grateful that you are alive and that we are serving a risen
- 2:22Savior, one that is interested in who we are, one who is capable and one who loves us.
- 2:28Lord, we're thankful that you tell us that we can ask you and that we will receive
- 2:33that which we ask if it's in your will.
- 2:35And Lord, we're even more thankful that you know what is best for us.
- 2:39And so that when we ask things of you and they're out of your will,
- 2:42you don't give them to us.
- 2:44We're thankful, Lord, that you can look beyond our feeble selves and give to
- 2:51us the things that we ask when they are pleasing to what would be you would have us to have.
- 2:57Lord, we're thankful that you don't have short-sightedness, but that you know
- 3:03all things and that you give to us those things which would allow us to have
- 3:07the abundant life for which you came that we might have.
- 3:11Lord, we love you and we praise you and we thank you in Jesus' name.
- 3:14And all of God's people said, Amen.
- 3:17The Bible says in the scripture that we ask and we receive if we keep his commandments
- 3:23and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.
- 3:26And upon first look of this scripture you may feel that there's a lot of conditions.
- 3:34That make asking the Lord for something happen you might also want to argue
- 3:41me which I will never argue the scriptures the Bible says that that is not what
- 3:47we're to do and there really is no argument God said it and that settles it
- 3:51doesn't matter whether I believe it or you believe it either.
- 3:53The truth is when God speaks, that is truth.
- 3:58But you might want to say, well, you know, I've asked this and I've asked that
- 4:02and it really never happened.
- 4:05And I would encourage you to dig a little deeper into the scriptures,
- 4:10to dig a little deeper into your prayer life, and to allow God to show you where
- 4:15what you ask, either one, was not in His will and not what was best for you.
- 4:21Because the Bible says that He doesn't withhold any good thing from them that love Him.
- 4:26And I would also ask you to take a look and perhaps allow God to show you where
- 4:31what He did give you did answer your prayer.
- 4:34It just wasn't answered the way perhaps you had
- 4:37asked because his word is true and
- 4:41he tells us very clearly in the scripture that if
- 4:44we ask we'll receive it of him infer in
- 4:48second thessalonians in chapter 2 as you
- 4:51begin to look at verse 16 he also says this
- 4:54now our lord jesus christ himself and
- 4:57god even our father which have loved us and
- 5:01hath given us everlasting consolation and
- 5:04good hope through grace comfort your
- 5:07hearts and establish you in every good word and work i want you to listen to
- 5:14that verse in the context of what we're talking about in this message that whatsoever
- 5:20you ask we receive of him because we keep his commandments.
- 5:26I want you to look at this verse that I just read and you're hearing these two
- 5:31verses out of 2 Thessalonians and see how the Lord asks us to keep his commandments,
- 5:38which would allow us then to ask of those things which would be best for us
- 5:43because we wouldn't be asking for things outside of the will of God if we're close and walking.
- 5:49But I want you to see that he says right here, The Father which hath loved us
- 5:54establishes us in every good work and word.
- 5:59And then he says in chapter 3 of 2 Thessalonians in verse 3,
- 6:03But the Lord is faithful who will establish you and keep you from evil.
- 6:08This Christian life that we serve is one in which the Lord sets us up for complete success.
- 6:16He allows us to know what he expects of us. He allows us to know what is required
- 6:22of us, and then he establishes us, and he gives us what it takes to be able to live that life.
- 6:30And the end of that life is a life of blessing and reward.
- 6:34So by doing what we're supposed to do, which leads to blessing and reward,
- 6:40we also find that we are living the best life possible because all he wants
- 6:44for us is us to have the abundant life that he came that we might have.
- 6:48So those of you who are listening and are scoffing at God requires this and
- 6:53God requires that, and he doesn't really love us or he wouldn't have so many rules,
- 6:57I want you to know that he has rules that allow us to stay within the bounds
- 7:02that we need to stay in to live the most abundant life that we could possibly live.
- 7:08These rules are not to punish us or to constrict us or to constrain us.
- 7:12They're to keep us in the place where we can receive the blessings of God and
- 7:16we can live the life that he has preordained that all of us should have and
- 7:20that's a life of blessings in him.
- 7:23And when we are following after his commandments, then we are living the life.
- 7:28That's going to give us the least amount of sorrow and the most amount of peace.
- 7:33Because when he says that you're not to go out and do riotous living, that's for our benefit.
- 7:39Do you realize that that's what leads to destruction?
- 7:44That the drinking, the carrying on, the partying, the late nights,
- 7:48the missing work, the doing this, doing that, perhaps even tangered,
- 7:52Those things are slowly but surely killing your body, but they're destroying
- 7:57the important relationships and the important things in your life.
- 8:01So aside from God, when you take when you partake in these kind of activities,
- 8:06you're destroying your life.
- 8:08And so when God says, don't do it, he's simply keeping you in a place that allows
- 8:16you to have the best life possible.
- 8:18And these scriptures in 2 Thessalonians explain to us that he will give you
- 8:23what it takes to be able to resist the devil.
- 8:26He says, draw nigh unto me and I will draw nigh unto you. The Lord says, follow me.
- 8:31And I promise you he's not going to be found in any of those places.
- 8:35The Bible tells us that we're to be anxious for nothing, but in everything with
- 8:40prayer and thanksgiving, that we should let our requests be made known unto
- 8:43God and the peace of God shall fill our hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
- 8:47Those are not words to give us punishment. Those are words to tell us that we have a hope.
- 8:55And the scriptures in 2 Thessalonians, in correlation with this scripture in 1 John 3,
- 9:0222, very clearly tell us that we
- 9:05can comfort our hearts because God is comforting
- 9:08us and he's going to establish us and
- 9:12then he says in 2nd Thessalonians chapter
- 9:143 and verse 13 but ye brethren be
- 9:17not weary in well-doing you see
- 9:20the world was going to come down on you and they're going to start talking to
- 9:24you about how well you asked for this and you asked for that one of the most
- 9:27popular things I'm ever told that they asked for that didn't happen is especially
- 9:32a non-believer says to me that they asked for to win the lottery and they didn't win it.
- 9:38Well, first of all, if you're a non-believer, that's like me going up to your
- 9:41father and asking for a thousand bucks.
- 9:43He's not going to give it to me. He doesn't know me, has no obligation.
- 9:47Also, the Bible says that God will not hear a prayer when you have iniquity
- 9:51in your heart, except the prayer of repentance.
- 9:54And that's not what's happening. So you're totally disqualified from trying to ask for that.
- 9:59So your argument has no bearing at all.
- 10:02But then there's the Christians who want to come to me and say,
- 10:07Oh, you know, I really want to believe what the word says.
- 10:11And I believe he saved me. And I believe when I die, I'm going to go to heaven.
- 10:15But, you know, some of this stuff is a little sketchy here. I've asked and I haven't received.
- 10:20And the Bible says, Ask and you shall receive. you seek and you shall find knock
- 10:24and it shall be opened unto you.
- 10:25And I always kind of chuckle in my heart because I've been in that same trap.
- 10:29That verse in Matthew 7, 7 has all three. I promise you that if you ask and
- 10:35you seek at the same time, you'll seek to ask what God wants you to ask.
- 10:42And then I promise you, you will receive.
- 10:45But we like to just ask. And we like to just go around claiming these promises
- 10:50without any kind of faith to back them up.
- 10:55You see, we have to talk on the basis of our walk. And that means we need to
- 10:59talk to God on the basis of our walk.
- 11:02I need to talk to the Lord standing in the position that I am in faith.
- 11:06If I believe in him with all of my heart, if I am choosing to live by his principles,
- 11:12then I can stand in his presence and by his grace and because of his love and
- 11:17his mercy upon me and the imputed righteousness he has given to me,
- 11:21I can answer the call that he said that I could call unto him and he would answer
- 11:26me and show me great and mighty things.
- 11:28I can call upon him in a time of trouble and I can obtain help and I can come
- 11:33boldly to the throne of God.
- 11:35But if I have been one who has tasted of the goodness of God and I have turned
- 11:40my back on him and I have walked away and God has no place in my day,
- 11:45no place in my life, I don't pay attention to his word.
- 11:48I don't pay attention to his scriptures, I feel no tugging of my heart from
- 11:52the Holy Spirit, then I've got two things I need to worry about.
- 11:55One, I need to really go back and see, have I ever, ever given my heart to him?
- 12:00Secondly, I need to know I'm not where I'm supposed to be. So I don't need to
- 12:04be asking for things because my mind is in the wrong place.
- 12:07And I surely will ask for the wrong things because who I'm listening to is not God.
- 12:12But as soon as I repent and turn from my sinful ways and allow the Lord to forgive
- 12:19me, then I can be in a place where my mind is focused on him.
- 12:23And when you're focused on him and he is running through your heart and you
- 12:27are listening to what he has to say, your words...
- 12:31Will be the ones he wants to hear, and they'll be the ones best for your life,
- 12:36and they'll follow after his commandments.
- 12:39And then when you ask, he'll give it to you. It'll be like asking for your mommy
- 12:44for food when you're starving.
- 12:46It'll come flowing in abundance too much to eat.
- 12:51That's the love he has for you, and that's the love he has for me.
- 12:56But when you talk, especially to God, you got to talk on the basis of your walk,
- 13:02and they need to line up because they do.
- 13:06My prayer is that you are standing in the center of his will.
