- 2:01Speaker 5: from the District Attorney's office.
- 2:05Speaker 3: I suppose I might have known.
- 2:06Speaker 5: The first thing I opened my eyes, I'd see those
- 2:08Speaker 5: vultures hovering around.
- 2:10Speaker 6: I suppose, right, all right, I'm gonna tell us about it.
- 2:13Speaker 6: Why should I as to keep the record straight and
- 2:16Speaker 6: save us a lot of trouble?
- 2:18Speaker 3: And you've got nothing to lose. How do you figure that?
- 2:21Speaker 6: Because they're going to carry you out of here with
- 2:23Speaker 6: a sheet over your face before morning?
- 2:25Speaker 3: Is that right? Doc? Afraid?
- 2:27Speaker 7: That's right?
- 2:29Speaker 3: Okay, take this downs, Kunny, gotcha.
- 2:33Speaker 5: You can call it a plane case of murder spelled.
- 2:37Speaker 3: P L A. N e. I make joke, get it? Yeah,
- 2:45Speaker 3: very very funny.
- 2:57Speaker 5: I'd been home three weeks when I finally broke down
- 3:00Speaker 5: and called her, and she said to come on out.
- 3:03Speaker 3: Her husband wouldn't be home. It's funny.
- 3:07Speaker 5: I'd already met Dorothy, but I called Marion anyway. Maybe
- 3:12Speaker 5: I was crazy with hate even then. Maybe it was
- 3:15Speaker 5: what I'd been through, stuck in one of those civilian
- 3:18Speaker 5: concentration camps out from the Philippines for three long years,
- 3:23Speaker 5: and all the time dreaming about Marian, making up endless
- 3:27Speaker 5: little scenes about how happy I was going to be
- 3:30Speaker 5: when it was all over with Marian. So it seemed
- 3:33Speaker 5: that all I was living and fighting for was Marian.
- 3:36Speaker 5: The whole war was just for Marian. And then to
- 3:41Speaker 5: come back and find she's married to this other guy,
- 3:44Speaker 5: something like that, he'll do things to you no matter
- 3:46Speaker 5: how good you are.
- 3:48Speaker 3: And so once she told me to come.
- 3:50Speaker 5: Out, I went why a sort of horrible fascination. I
- 3:56Speaker 5: suppose to see it with my own eyes. I already
- 4:00Speaker 5: knew from everything i'd heard that she'd married the guy
- 4:03Speaker 5: for his money, and that the Marian I'd been dreaming
- 4:06Speaker 5: about all those years was just another cheap, little gold digger.
- 4:12Speaker 5: I went up to the big front door and rang
- 4:14Speaker 5: the bell. She must have seen me coming up the drive,
- 4:18Speaker 5: because there she was right.
- 4:19Speaker 3: Away and let me in herself. My dream girl, Marian.
- 4:24Speaker 7: Randy, Hello, Marian, Hello, Randy.
- 4:28Speaker 3: Do you mind if I come in?
- 4:30Speaker 7: Of course, not.
- 4:32Speaker 8: Come on.
- 4:33Speaker 7: Here's a little more private.
- 4:36Speaker 3: What do we need to be private about?
- 4:38Speaker 7: Oh? I thought we'd like to have a little talk.
- 4:40Speaker 3: Sure, let's have a little talk.
- 4:44Speaker 8: Oh Randy, Please don't be bitter. Don't you see? I
- 4:46Speaker 8: couldn't help it. It's such a wonderful person. I know
- 4:49Speaker 8: you'll like him.
- 4:51Speaker 3: I can see why you like him.
- 4:52Speaker 7: Oh no, Randy, it's nothing like that. I thought you
- 4:55Speaker 7: were dead, and then ED came along, and well we
- 4:58Speaker 7: fell in love. That's all. A person can't help falling
- 5:00Speaker 7: in love, can they.
- 5:02Speaker 3: You never tried to find out how dead I was, though.
- 5:04Speaker 7: Did you, Randy? I did? I tried every way there.
- 5:06Speaker 3: Walter checked on that there's no record that you ever tried.
- 5:10Speaker 7: But I did. I swear I did.
- 5:12Speaker 3: Okay, Skip.
- 5:13Speaker 5: It's really a lovely place you've got here, yes, isn't it.
- 5:18Speaker 8: You can see the property better from over here. It
- 5:21Speaker 8: owns all this part of the valley clear over those trees.
- 5:23Speaker 7: You can see him up against the mountain. You see,
- 5:25Speaker 7: you see him?
- 5:25Speaker 3: Uh huh? What's he doing with it all? Oh?
- 5:28Speaker 8: Nothing much? See he adds real businesses cattle. Of course,
- 5:31Speaker 8: this is in cattle country. He's visiting one of his
- 5:34Speaker 8: cattle ranches.
- 5:34Speaker 5: Now, oh, he away quite a lot.
- 5:39Speaker 7: Yes, Randy, tell me about you. I saw in the
- 5:43Speaker 7: papers a big welcome they gave in all you've done
- 5:45Speaker 7: out there, it must have been awful.
- 5:47Speaker 3: It wasn't fun.
- 5:49Speaker 7: Well, what are you doing now?
- 5:52Speaker 3: Well, in a way, you know, a thing like that
- 5:55Speaker 3: almost pays.
- 5:56Speaker 7: Off, pays off.
- 5:57Speaker 3: Uh huh. All that hero business, you know.
- 6:00Speaker 5: I was out there for a commercial aircraft company, selling
- 6:03Speaker 5: private planes to sugar growers and gold miners and so on. Yes, well,
- 6:08Speaker 5: the first thing that happens is that the company makes
- 6:10Speaker 5: me vice president in charge of sales seventy five thousand a.
- 6:14Speaker 7: Year, seventy five thousand, bah huh.
- 6:17Speaker 3: And then the movies want to do my.
- 6:18Speaker 5: Life story, and they discover that I've got such great
- 6:21Speaker 5: executive ability. They make me a part time producer another
- 6:24Speaker 5: fifty thousand. Then, of course, a percentage of the picture
- 6:28Speaker 5: and the story price itself will come to oh about
- 6:31Speaker 5: another two hundred and fifty thousand, Randy. And then through
- 6:35Speaker 5: contacts and the aircraft business, I run into some guys
- 6:38Speaker 5: in the oil game, and that based off I don't know,
- 6:42Speaker 5: I figure I'll be able to retire in three or
- 6:44Speaker 5: four years with a cool million. I'll make more. Of course,
- 6:47Speaker 5: if I wanted to stick to it.
- 6:49Speaker 3: Why be a hug?
- 6:50Speaker 7: Why Randy, that's wonderful. I never dreamed.
- 6:54Speaker 3: Right then and there I knew I had her.
- 6:57Speaker 5: I don't know what it made me tell her all
- 6:59Speaker 5: those lives to be again with just for the satisfaction
- 7:02Speaker 5: of watching her show her hand and jump at it,
- 7:04Speaker 5: I guess.
- 7:05Speaker 3: But now I knew I had her.
- 7:08Speaker 5: And as she talked, as I saw that greedy gleam
- 7:11Speaker 5: coming into her eyes, I began to know what I
- 7:15Speaker 5: was going to do about it.
- 7:16Speaker 8: Well, Well, Randy Judson, a big, rich, famous man. I'm
- 7:20Speaker 8: so happy for you, Randy, not.
- 7:22Speaker 3: Even talking about running me for governor. Yeah, funny things.
- 7:27Speaker 3: Fate does well, Marian.
- 7:29Speaker 7: I've got to run along, oh, Randy, must you.
- 7:31Speaker 3: Yeah, there's a new field. We think it's coming in today.
- 7:35Speaker 3: Not a million a year if it does well.
- 7:37Speaker 7: All right, I'll walk into the door.
- 7:38Speaker 3: Hell right, thanks, Well, goodbye.
- 7:43Speaker 7: Marion, Randy. What don't you want to kiss me goodbye?
- 7:49Speaker 3: You know I do, Marian.
- 7:52Speaker 7: Oh, Randy, Randy's seeing you again. I'm afraid I made
- 7:57Speaker 7: a terrible mistake.
- 7:59Speaker 3: Yes, I'm afraid you have. I was pretty sure after
- 8:10Speaker 3: that that all I had to do was wait.
- 8:13Speaker 5: There was some truth, and when I told her about
- 8:16Speaker 5: two percent, I had been a salesman for a commercial
- 8:20Speaker 5: aircraft company and I still was, and I had a
- 8:23Speaker 5: little money enough to look the part of the thing
- 8:25Speaker 5: executive when I was around Marion anyway, And of course
- 8:29Speaker 5: it had to be secret, not only because of Dorothy
- 8:31Speaker 5: and of Marian's husband, but.
- 8:34Speaker 3: Because of what I had figured out for later.
- 8:37Speaker 5: But as the weeks went by, I saw her all right,
- 8:40Speaker 5: I saw a lot of her and waited and I
- 8:43Speaker 5: didn't have to wait too long.
- 8:45Speaker 7: Oh, Randy, Randy, I love you so much.
- 8:48Speaker 3: I know you do. Baby, Randy.
- 8:49Speaker 7: What are we going to do?
- 8:51Speaker 3: I don't know, Marian.
- 8:52Speaker 7: There must be something we can do.
- 8:54Speaker 3: Divorce.
- 8:55Speaker 7: Oh, you'd never give me a divorce, you know that.
- 8:56Speaker 3: Never.
- 8:57Speaker 5: Yeah, it's it's just one of those things, I guess, Randy.
- 9:01Speaker 7: I can't go on like this. Something's got to happen.
- 9:04Speaker 5: Nothing's going to happen, Marian, it could what could something?
- 9:09Speaker 7: Anything, just so I could be free and be with you.
- 9:14Speaker 3: There's only one thing that would do us any good.
- 9:17Speaker 7: Things like that do happen if somebody makes them happen.
- 9:24Speaker 3: You want to kill him, Randy.
- 9:26Speaker 7: I know it's terrible. I just know it's wicked to
- 9:28Speaker 7: you even think it's such a thing.
- 9:29Speaker 3: But you do. Yes? Oh what's stopping you?
- 9:33Speaker 7: Oh I'm afraid alone.
- 9:37Speaker 5: You mean you want to kill him, but you want
- 9:40Speaker 5: me to help you to kill him?
- 9:43Speaker 7: Yes, yes, yes.
- 9:53Speaker 5: Marryan, my dream girl. Oh I agreed to help her,
- 9:57Speaker 5: all right, Sure I did. I planned it for.
- 10:02Speaker 3: First.
- 10:03Speaker 5: There was the plane that was going to do several
- 10:06Speaker 5: things for us, and of course, my being an aircraft salesman,
- 10:09Speaker 5: made it easy. Marian suddenly became interested in aviation. She
- 10:14Speaker 5: began reading about it hanging around the airports. Then she
- 10:18Speaker 5: started taking lessons. She learned fast too. I'll say that
- 10:22Speaker 5: for soloed in six hours and had her license in ten.
- 10:26Speaker 5: All this time I stayed out of the picture and
- 10:29Speaker 5: just waited and went out with Dorothy once in a while.
- 10:33Speaker 5: This was the buildout. It lasted about six weeks until
- 10:38Speaker 5: I got her call and went out there. My name
- 10:43Speaker 5: is Judson.
- 10:43Speaker 3: Is it done? Oh?
- 10:45Speaker 7: How do you do it?
- 10:46Speaker 3: Certainly been hearing a lot about your product lately. Oh,
- 10:49Speaker 3: by the way, there's my wife, missus Dunham.
- 10:51Speaker 7: How do you do mister Judson? Oh my, she really
- 10:54Speaker 7: is a beauty.
- 10:55Speaker 3: It's a two place job.
- 10:56Speaker 5: You see, funnier room in the fuse lodge for baggage
- 11:00Speaker 5: one hundred and fifty horsepower engine variable prop Sher cruise
- 11:03Speaker 5: is nearly one hundred and fifty, and yet her landing
- 11:06Speaker 5: speed is much more than forty five.
- 11:08Speaker 3: And of course she has flats for low speed landing.
- 11:11Speaker 5: Uh huh, I am really sincere when I say that
- 11:14Speaker 5: you can't match her anywhere near in the price field.
- 11:17Speaker 3: Well, I don't know much about it, but it's that's
- 11:20Speaker 3: what Mario wants.
- 11:21Speaker 7: Oh, Ed, you're a darling.
- 11:22Speaker 3: Well that's the way we like to make a sale.
- 11:25Speaker 3: How about little Smith.
- 11:27Speaker 5: Or I don't know till one begin Sometimes just around
- 11:31Speaker 5: the field. Oh, by the way, you've got practically a
- 11:34Speaker 5: perfect natural landing field here.
- 11:36Speaker 3: Yeah, I have to pull a behind her us that
- 11:39Speaker 3: won't run you much climb in.
- 11:41Speaker 5: Whoa, hey, yeah, you keep on the word over.
- 11:47Speaker 3: I will, oh, by the way, before I take up.
- 11:50Speaker 3: Here's a release you have to sign, just a formality.
- 11:54Speaker 5: Has three copies, one for me is the pilot, one
- 11:57Speaker 5: for the company, and one for the Bureau of Civilian.
- 11:59Speaker 3: Air ORTIC Uh A word I signed, oh anywhere at
- 12:04Speaker 3: the bottom.
- 12:04Speaker 5: Now, okay, that's fine, thank you, miss it Adam. It's funny,
- 12:20Speaker 5: in spite of everything they tell you about reading anything
- 12:22Speaker 5: you sign, the average man will glance through the first
- 12:26Speaker 5: copy and sign the others without looking particularly at.
- 12:30Speaker 3: He's nervous in a hurry. That's what he did. The
- 12:34Speaker 3: first two copies were just something I'd dreamed up, because
- 12:37Speaker 3: there's no such niece anyway.
- 12:40Speaker 5: But the last was a blank piece of paper. When
- 12:44Speaker 5: he signed that, he signed his own death.
- 12:47Speaker 3: Warrant or suspense.

- 15:02Speaker 5: I can give no reason for what I am about
- 15:05Speaker 5: to do, and I pray to Heaven the reason will
- 15:07Speaker 5: never come to lights. But it is the only way
- 15:11Speaker 5: to my loving wife. Particularly. I know this will come
- 15:14Speaker 5: as a great shock, but at least I can leave
- 15:17Speaker 5: her amply provided for.
- 15:19Speaker 3: Goodbye and they were done him? Uh huh? You sure
- 15:24Speaker 3: he is leaving you amply provided for? It would look bad.
- 15:27Speaker 7: I took care of that some time ago.
- 15:29Speaker 5: What about the typewriter, There's no question but what it
- 15:31Speaker 5: will be identifying.
- 15:32Speaker 7: Myself on it all the time. He's had it for years.
- 15:35Speaker 3: You want me to keep this or are you all right?
- 15:38Speaker 5: It doesn't matter. You're positive the gun is registered in
- 15:41Speaker 5: his name. Yes, and he'll be alone tonight.
- 15:44Speaker 7: Yes, we've been through all this.
- 15:45Speaker 3: I know I don't want any mistakes. This is no Pennyati.
- 15:49Speaker 3: Now you got your reservations.
- 15:51Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, I checked again this morning.
- 15:54Speaker 5: Okay, Now you better leaven. Plenty of time you want
- 15:57Speaker 5: to be sure and make Phoenix before the little airport
- 15:59Speaker 5: closes down. I'll come down back of the house tonight
- 16:02Speaker 5: a little beforehand, say twelve forty five. Be sure you
- 16:06Speaker 5: don't use any throttle coming in a long glide, cut your.
- 16:09Speaker 3: Motor as far out as you can.
- 16:10Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, I will.
- 16:12Speaker 5: I'll be on time. You've got to get back to
- 16:14Speaker 5: Phoenix before daylight. And when you put through that call
- 16:16Speaker 5: to me, lay it on thick. I will, And don't worry.
- 16:20Speaker 7: I'm not worried.
- 16:22Speaker 5: No, I don't think you are. The wheels were moving, complicated,
- 16:33Speaker 5: but good. We've been over it enough've rehearsed it line
- 16:37Speaker 5: by line, so I knew exactly what she'd be doing
- 16:41Speaker 5: and saying almost every minute. First she'd be circling that
- 16:46Speaker 5: little airport about a mile from the hotel and sounding
- 16:49Speaker 5: as though she was in trouble, a little trick of
- 16:52Speaker 5: sending out.
- 16:53Speaker 3: The mixture that I showed her. And then she'd be
- 16:56Speaker 3: coming in for a landing, taxing over the hang. That
- 17:00Speaker 3: would be a little before five.
- 17:06Speaker 9: Yes's not what she's.
- 17:07Speaker 3: Acting up on here, huh, Yeah she is.
- 17:10Speaker 7: I didn't think I was gonna.
- 17:10Speaker 8: Make it, Oh corporation, maybe exhaust valve stick and I.
- 17:14Speaker 3: Think, yeah, I could do it all right? Yeah? Thanks? Hey,
- 17:18Speaker 3: you staying in Phoenix for a few days can I
- 17:19Speaker 3: leave it here? Oh? Sure, tomorrow. First thing, I'll get
- 17:22Speaker 3: a man.
- 17:22Speaker 8: Oh no, I'm going to get the man down here
- 17:24Speaker 8: who sold it to me. I've only flown at about
- 17:25Speaker 8: eight hours.
- 17:26Speaker 3: Oh gee, it shouldn't be doing.
- 17:27Speaker 7: That, I'll say it shouldn't. Is there anybody here at night?
- 17:30Speaker 3: No, I'm sorry, ma'am. I come on again at eight
- 17:32Speaker 3: in the morning.
- 17:33Speaker 8: Well, he may be down here before that, because I'm
- 17:34Speaker 8: going to get him out of bed if it's the
- 17:35Speaker 8: last thing I do. It's a brand new sixty five
- 17:37Speaker 8: hundred dollars airplane.
- 17:38Speaker 3: Oh I don't blame yet.
- 17:40Speaker 10: Well, in case you're out here before I am, I'll
- 17:42Speaker 10: give you the key to the shop sold there's anything
- 17:43Speaker 10: you need.
- 17:44Speaker 7: Thanks, don't bother now, just send it around the hotel.
- 17:46Speaker 3: Okay, where are you staying.
- 17:47Speaker 8: Desert in Missus Mary and Dunham.
- 18:03Speaker 3: Hello?
- 18:03Speaker 9: If this is the hotel operator, Missus Dunham, I have
- 18:05Speaker 9: your called at Los Angeles.
- 18:07Speaker 7: Oh yes, thank you, go ahead Los Angeles.
- 18:10Speaker 8: Hello, mister Judson, this is maryon Dunham.
- 18:13Speaker 9: Oh how do you do Missus Dunham.
- 18:16Speaker 8: I don't do so well, mister Judson. In fact, if
- 18:18Speaker 8: you ask me, I'm lucky to be alive. I'm mad,
- 18:21Speaker 8: mister Judson. I think I've got a right to be.
- 18:23Speaker 8: I started out for Phoenix today in that airplane you
- 18:26Speaker 8: sold me. I just barely made it. I don't see
- 18:28Speaker 8: why a brand new sixty five hundred dollars airplane could
- 18:31Speaker 8: possibly I.
- 18:31Speaker 3: Can't understand it, Missus Dunham. What seemed to be the trouble?
- 18:35Speaker 7: Well, an exhaust valve or two just burned up.
- 18:37Speaker 8: Apparently, planes absolutely useless to me, and the conditions in now,
- 18:40Speaker 8: I doubt I would even get off the ground.
- 18:42Speaker 9: I quite understand this.
- 18:44Speaker 3: I'll send a man justin.
- 18:46Speaker 8: Man, I think you ought to come down here and
- 18:47Speaker 8: look at it yourself, mister Judson, I should come.
- 18:50Speaker 9: Why there's nothing in particular that I could well?
- 18:52Speaker 8: Are you responsible for these planes you sell to people,
- 18:55Speaker 8: mister Judson, or aren't you well?
- 18:56Speaker 9: I oh, all right, Missus Dunham, I'll be down first
- 19:00Speaker 9: thing in the morning.
- 19:01Speaker 7: Where are you staying the desert?
- 19:02Speaker 9: In the desert, all right, Missus Donovan, tomorrow morning, then, thank.
- 19:07Speaker 7: You, mister Justin.
- 19:07Speaker 3: Good night, good night, Missus Dunam.
- 19:14Speaker 7: Did did you get your call to Los Angeles with Donald?
- 19:17Speaker 3: Yes?
- 19:17Speaker 7: Thank you?
- 19:17Speaker 8: But is the doctor on his way up here. Oh
- 19:20Speaker 8: never mind, never mind, that must be him. Thank you,
- 19:22Speaker 8: Come in, Yes, come in, doctor. I'm afully sorry to
- 19:28Speaker 8: bother you, doctor, but I've got a frightful headache. I
- 19:31Speaker 8: flew in from Los Angeles today and something went wrong
- 19:34Speaker 8: with my plane. I suppose it's just nerves, and I
- 19:37Speaker 8: was wondering if you could give me something to help
- 19:39Speaker 8: me sleep.
- 19:39Speaker 3: Should thank you? Just the thing for you right here.
- 19:44Speaker 3: Take one of these or two you think you.
- 19:46Speaker 7: Need it, well I better take two.
- 19:48Speaker 3: Well pretty strong.
- 19:50Speaker 7: How long they make me sleep?
- 19:52Speaker 3: You'll be dead to the world for a good eight
- 19:54Speaker 3: or nine hours. Particularly take two.
- 19:56Speaker 7: Well, thank you, doctor. I'll go in and take him
- 19:58Speaker 7: right now. Would you mind hanging that do not disturb
- 20:01Speaker 7: some on the door when you go out.
- 20:02Speaker 3: I'm not a.
- 20:05Speaker 7: Good night doctor.
- 20:15Speaker 5: I was at the field back of her house a
- 20:18Speaker 5: little ahead of time, and I had a little bottle
- 20:21Speaker 5: of chloroform in my pocket.
- 20:24Speaker 3: Oh the plan was all right, Like I say, it
- 20:27Speaker 3: was perfect.
- 20:29Speaker 5: But it was just a little bit too perfect for Marion,
- 20:33Speaker 5: because when they found her lying there beside the corpse,
- 20:37Speaker 5: every one of those little steps she'd taken to give
- 20:40Speaker 5: herself an alibi would prove that she'd planned it, premeditated
- 20:44Speaker 5: murder in the first degree. They'd say it went wrong
- 20:47Speaker 5: only because her husband managed to knock her cold before
- 20:49Speaker 5: he died. The suicide notes. There wouldn't be any I'd
- 20:54Speaker 5: see to that, and I'd even be a witness against her,
- 20:58Speaker 5: because instead of flying down the Phoenix with a couple
- 21:00Speaker 5: of burned valves in my pocket to support her alibi,
- 21:04Speaker 5: I'd fly down there and find there wasn't any plane
- 21:07Speaker 5: or any merry. And when she started that last walk
- 21:11Speaker 5: to the gas chamber, maybe she'd begin to realize what
- 21:14Speaker 5: I'd been through, my dream girl. I knew she'd sneaked
- 21:21Speaker 5: out of the hotel a good two hours ago, and
- 21:23Speaker 5: sure enough I heard the motor and I heard her
- 21:28Speaker 5: cut it, and she was gliding in, and then we
- 21:31Speaker 5: were walking together over towards.
- 21:33Speaker 3: The darkened house.
- 21:34Speaker 7: Yes, everything went right.
- 21:35Speaker 3: What's the matter with you? You haven't spoken a civil
- 21:37Speaker 3: word to me. I got your keyte's dark, I got
- 21:46Speaker 3: a pleasure.
- 21:50Speaker 7: Something was there walking or I'll have to go to
- 21:56Speaker 7: one store somehow, get in there, get into the quick. Okay,
- 22:02Speaker 7: it's me And.
- 22:03Speaker 9: What the world are you doing?
- 22:06Speaker 5: It seemed like an hour that I was in there,
- 22:09Speaker 5: straining to hear and not being able to.
- 22:14Speaker 3: She'd done it. I heard her running down the hall.
- 22:16Speaker 3: She'd done it. I had my hand on the doorknob
- 22:19Speaker 3: and was just about to step out when there was
- 22:22Speaker 3: a click and the knob wouldn't turn. Marion, Marion, Marion.
- 22:32Speaker 3: That was the front door. I was locked in, and
- 22:35Speaker 3: she was gone. For a moment.
- 22:47Speaker 5: I almost faded because I could see just how she'd
- 22:50Speaker 5: plan it, just what I'd planned to do to her.
- 22:54Speaker 5: She'd fly back to Phoenix and then put in a
- 22:55Speaker 5: call to her husband on some pretext, and she wouldn't
- 22:58Speaker 5: get any answer and pretend to be worried and call
- 23:00Speaker 5: the cops and they'd find me. They'd say I killed them.
- 23:04Speaker 5: And then got in a panic and locked myself in
- 23:05Speaker 5: the closet by mistake. It was a spring lock, and
- 23:08Speaker 5: it could happen.
- 23:11Speaker 3: The door was solid oak, at least two inches thick.
- 23:15Speaker 5: I went frantically through my pockets for something to work
- 23:17Speaker 5: in the lock with. It was no good, but I
- 23:20Speaker 5: did find my pocket knife. There was just one chance.
- 23:23Speaker 3: I had about three hours to whindle a hole through
- 23:26Speaker 3: that door big enough for me to get my hand to.
- 23:28Speaker 3: I went to work ten minutes. My clothes are ring wet.
- 23:36Speaker 5: In twenty minutes, I thought I was gonna die of exhausted,
- 23:38Speaker 5: and i'd hardly begun. Somehow, I kept going. Then the
- 23:43Speaker 5: knife blade broke. I was almost crying. I opened a
- 23:47Speaker 5: small blade and kept on. My hand was raw with
- 23:50Speaker 5: broken flicks. The second blade broke. I kept on with
- 23:54Speaker 5: the stump of the big one. Hours past could seem,
- 23:58Speaker 5: and then at last I was but the hole wasn't
- 24:01Speaker 5: big enough yet. More hours and then I tore half
- 24:05Speaker 5: the skin off my hand and got it through.
- 24:08Speaker 3: I opened the door. I was free. As I started
- 24:14Speaker 3: out the front door, the phone rang in the hall.
- 24:17Speaker 3: I picked it up and listened.
- 24:19Speaker 9: Phoenix, Arizona calling mister Edward Dunham. Hello, hello operator.
- 24:25Speaker 3: I put the phone quietly back.
- 24:29Speaker 5: That would be Marian, and that meant that she called
- 24:31Speaker 5: the cops next and they'd be out to investigate him.
- 24:35Speaker 5: I only had a few minutes left, but there was
- 24:37Speaker 5: still my plane. I started running across the field to
- 24:40Speaker 5: where it stood. If I could get off on that plane,
- 24:42Speaker 5: I had a chance a good And then I stopped.
- 24:47Speaker 3: Marry him.
- 24:49Speaker 5: She'd fly back, she'd land right on this very field.
- 25:00Speaker 5: Sure enough, in about twenty minutes the cops came. Then
- 25:03Speaker 5: more cops from homicide. I suppose they prowled all over
- 25:07Speaker 5: the place so they didn't find me. I was hidden
- 25:10Speaker 5: another little clump of trees, and pretty soon they went away,
- 25:15Speaker 5: and I waited three hours more and I heard it
- 25:23Speaker 5: Mary has played, And then I saw her coming into
- 25:26Speaker 5: land and I was out there and up on the
- 25:28Speaker 5: wing before she did even rolled to us.
- 25:30Speaker 3: Stop, Wendy, a double cross.
- 25:34Speaker 7: You're a fine one to talk, you and you're Dorothy.
- 25:37Speaker 8: I suppose you thought I didn't know about her, that
- 25:38Speaker 8: you got engaged to her the very day that you
- 25:41Speaker 8: were gonna.
- 25:41Speaker 7: Frame me, weren't you. Well met you to it and
- 25:43Speaker 7: you'll die, do you hear me?
- 25:44Speaker 3: You dit? She was dead when I let go, my
- 25:56Speaker 3: dream girl I had out there.
- 26:03Speaker 5: The counts have seen her land. They must have seen
- 26:05Speaker 5: me too, because they were running out of the fields
- 26:07Speaker 5: and began shooting as they could up.
- 26:12Speaker 3: But something was wrong. May be merry and it even
- 26:15Speaker 3: figured on this, I don't know. I remember fighting a
- 26:18Speaker 3: pullet up and then those trees coming.
- 26:20Speaker 5: At me in the track on the fire.
- 26:37Speaker 3: You got all that's funny I got it. How was
- 26:40Speaker 3: he dying? It's not so good here, just sign him? Sure,
- 26:46Speaker 3: I'll sign.
- 26:47Speaker 6: Hurry up, Simon, Hey, Die's gone dead dead.
- 26:56Speaker 10: Fine thing. I got a confession and no one to
- 26:59Speaker 10: sign it. What's the difference you got? Witnesses their plain
- 27:04Speaker 10: Case of Mood spell PLA n E. Very very funny.
