- 0:03Speaker 1: Hi everyone, I'm Richie Rolie. I am filling in for
- 0:07Speaker 1: Scott Braun today. I'm here with aircrafts on foul Territory.
- 0:10Speaker 1: Welcome to FT Live, Join us, tweet us, let us
- 0:14Speaker 1: know what we're doing. So to Lely, Eric and I today.
- 0:17Speaker 1: So we are relying on comments and feedback from all
- 0:20Speaker 1: of you guys, right Eric.
- 0:21Speaker 2: Yeah, we need the chat every day. We need the
- 0:23Speaker 2: chat anytime we can, anytime we can have the chat.
- 0:26Speaker 2: The chat will let Britt know if she's kind of
- 0:29Speaker 2: getting off track a little bit. They love me, They don't.
- 0:32Speaker 2: They don't say anything bad about me because I'm not
- 0:35Speaker 2: gonna read it.
- 0:37Speaker 1: How could they? That is That is basically what I
- 0:39Speaker 1: subscribe to as well. But Happy Friday, Anti Family will
- 0:42Speaker 1: get you through previewing everything that is happening this Weekend's
- 0:45Speaker 1: some really big series around baseball. Lots of news this
- 0:48Speaker 1: morning as well, and we're almost into Cratsy, my favorite
- 0:51Speaker 1: time of the season, which is the playoff push. We're
- 0:54Speaker 1: getting into September. Things are heating up there getting interesting.
- 0:57Speaker 1: Things are also interesting here at FT. Some big news
- 1:01Speaker 1: next week. The show is picking up. It's going on
- 1:04Speaker 1: a little bit of a move it's headed down to
- 1:05Speaker 1: Old Alabama where FT is going to be next week.
- 1:10Speaker 1: They'll be live from the pro Rivals open in Point Clear, Alabama,
- 1:14Speaker 1: Monday through Friday. Attendees include John Smoltz, Greg Maddox, Josh
- 1:18Speaker 1: Donald Said, Vince Coleman, and a lot more. That looks
- 1:21Speaker 1: like a There could be worse days at the office
- 1:24Speaker 1: crats than being that looks like a beautiful golf course.
- 1:26Speaker 1: Have you been there?
- 1:27Speaker 2: I know, rub it in, rub it in. I didn't
- 1:29Speaker 2: get invited. I have to stay here. So there's that.
- 1:33Speaker 2: But it's going to be sick because there's a bunch
- 1:35Speaker 2: of dudes playing against each other. Those guests, that guest list,
- 1:38Speaker 2: I was feeling like, that's our guest list. Now I'm
- 1:40Speaker 2: hoping it grows based on when everybody has their tea
- 1:43Speaker 2: times and everything. It's a pretty sick event. We did
- 1:46Speaker 2: it a little bit last year, but now we're kind
- 1:47Speaker 2: of upgrading, taking it down to Alabama.
- 1:52Speaker 1: I love it. Shout out John Smoltz, Michigan State Legend.
- 1:56Speaker 1: I'm also in Michigan State Legend, a little bit lesser known,
- 2:00Speaker 1: but anyway, shout out small Ze. Let's charge the mound.
- 2:02Speaker 1: We've got some cool stuff going on for.
- 2:04Speaker 2: You charge them about.
- 2:08Speaker 1: Boston, New York. Let's do it, Red Sox Yankees. What
- 2:12Speaker 1: do you got on this? But again, I know this
- 2:14Speaker 1: is a rivalry, cretcy. This is also let's make it
- 2:17Speaker 1: very clear for Toronto fans who have been long suffering
- 2:19Speaker 1: there in first place, this is a second place rivalry.
- 2:22Speaker 1: They are within a half game of each other. They
- 2:23Speaker 1: are fighting, They are very much in the playoff mix.
- 2:28Speaker 1: How excited are you to kind of watch these teams?
- 2:31Speaker 1: You know, you look at Boston and I think they're
- 2:34Speaker 1: two totally different teams too. I think or the window
- 2:37Speaker 1: is right now. They're an older team, a team that
- 2:39Speaker 1: certainly has a lot of injuries. With Boston. You know,
- 2:41Speaker 1: my mom's a huge baseball fan, and she's like, I
- 2:43Speaker 1: don't know anybody on the Red Sox. I was trying
- 2:45Speaker 1: to explain to her that they built from within. Hein
- 2:48Speaker 1: Bloom did a great job of acquiring all these top prospects.
- 2:51Speaker 1: Who are many of them who are now up here.
- 2:53Speaker 1: Of course, Roman Anthony the latest as well. Will get
- 2:56Speaker 1: to him a little bit more in detail later on
- 2:58Speaker 1: in the show. But you know, you look at this series,
- 3:01Speaker 1: how do you think that this all shakes out, I.
- 3:04Speaker 2: Mean how it shakes out. We can get into that.
- 3:07Speaker 2: I mean, if you think matchups are what they are
- 3:09Speaker 2: and figure out who's gonna win and who's gonna lose.
- 3:12Speaker 2: But I love what you said about Hein Bloom. HEINM Bloom.
- 3:15Speaker 2: Not only did he acquire some of these prospects, but
- 3:19Speaker 2: he helped develop He helped the system develop these guys,
- 3:23Speaker 2: and he put people in the situation to help the
- 3:25Speaker 2: system develop these guys. So it could be looking up
- 3:28Speaker 2: for the Cardinals. But as far as the two teams
- 3:31Speaker 2: in kind of they're just built differently. When even when
- 3:35Speaker 2: the Red Sox stink, because there haven't been any years
- 3:37Speaker 2: where the Yankee stink as much as Yankee fans think
- 3:41Speaker 2: they stink, some years they don't stink. They don't ever stink.
- 3:45Speaker 2: The Red Sox stink. Sometimes they have some absolute stinkers
- 3:48Speaker 2: of seasons. And now they're back up. They have one
- 3:53Speaker 2: of the I think it's top five era, if not
- 3:56Speaker 2: top three bullpen era in the game, which you know
- 4:01Speaker 2: you gotta build that too, You got to build that up.
- 4:04Speaker 2: You gotta have that to be able to have success
- 4:06Speaker 2: in the playoffs. And this lineup besides Trevor Story and
- 4:11Speaker 2: Alex Bregman are super young. They are young all across
- 4:16Speaker 2: the board. I get it, Yoshidah's coming out there now
- 4:18Speaker 2: and he's getting some at bats here and there. But
- 4:22Speaker 2: this is a young team, the Yankees. While they are
- 4:25Speaker 2: an older team, they're built to do the exact same
- 4:29Speaker 2: thing that the Red Sox are built to do, to
- 4:32Speaker 2: win the World Series. In the Red Sox mind, I
- 4:35Speaker 2: don't know if the Red Sox are built are gonna
- 4:37Speaker 2: able to be able to do it. The Yankees have
- 4:40Speaker 2: the experience and anytime this rivalry hits off, no matter
- 4:43Speaker 2: where the Red Sox are in the standings, because the
- 4:45Speaker 2: Yankees are almost always at the top, it is always
- 4:49Speaker 2: a good series. So whether they're in second place or not,
- 4:52Speaker 2: banger of a rivalry.
- 4:54Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree. Boston ticks Game one last night. We
- 4:57Speaker 1: saw Roman Anthony Goyard and really interesting Alex Bregman, who
- 5:02Speaker 1: has been around a lot of young players in Houston,
- 5:04Speaker 1: you know, has transitioned excellently in Boston. He's got his
- 5:07Speaker 1: own beer. I mean, the guy's just been there for
- 5:08Speaker 1: a hot second. They already love him. He called Roman
- 5:11Speaker 1: Anthony one of the most mature twenty one year old
- 5:14Speaker 1: that he's ever been around. And you know, I believe
- 5:17Speaker 1: him pratzy because I think when you're talking about markets
- 5:19Speaker 1: like Boston and New York, you can't just have the
- 5:21Speaker 1: physical skills. You have to be able to handle those markets.
- 5:24Speaker 1: And I think that certain young players are not equipped
- 5:28Speaker 1: at twenty one years old to go right into Boston
- 5:30Speaker 1: and in New York. So I think that you have
- 5:32Speaker 1: to have that level of maturity, and certainly Roman Anthony
- 5:36Speaker 1: seems to have it because he's going to fail at
- 5:39Speaker 1: some point in time. He's going to come up, he's
- 5:41Speaker 1: going to struggle, He's going to have to be able
- 5:43Speaker 1: to be okay in that media market, which is very
- 5:46Speaker 1: much like a fish bowl. He's going to have to
- 5:48Speaker 1: be strong enough mentally to handle that. So I think
- 5:51Speaker 1: when you look at this, this idea of hey, let's
- 5:55Speaker 1: bring up a guy like Roman Anthony, to me, Alex
- 5:59Speaker 1: Bregman's quote makes a lot sets and have you played
- 6:01Speaker 1: with anybody that kind of reminds you of that when
- 6:03Speaker 1: you look at this like young, I remember Manny Machado
- 6:06Speaker 1: coming up in a Pennant race as a twenty year
- 6:07Speaker 1: old and they had to be certain that he was
- 6:10Speaker 1: going to be okay and not wilt under the pressure.
- 6:11Speaker 1: They brought him up. They moved him from shortstop the
- 6:13Speaker 1: third base. That's kind of what this reminds me of
- 6:15Speaker 1: a little bit. Anybody come to mind for you.
- 6:19Speaker 2: I mean, not in that same ilk of like Manny
- 6:23Speaker 2: Machado or like Bryce Harper, type of like Superstar. But
- 6:27Speaker 2: I remember first playing with Neil Walker. Neil Walker was
- 6:30Speaker 2: a guy his dad had played in the big leagues,
- 6:32Speaker 2: his uncle had played in the big leagues. He had
- 6:33Speaker 2: that like he had been around big league clubhouses, and
- 6:36Speaker 2: when I played with him in Triple A, he already
- 6:38Speaker 2: had a cup of coffee. But it was something that
- 6:42Speaker 2: he was a young guy that knew his routine and
- 6:45Speaker 2: knew how to get himself ready for big league games
- 6:50Speaker 2: day in and day out. We played in Triple A together,
- 6:52Speaker 2: we played in the big leagues together, and I think
- 6:54Speaker 2: that's it's a rare thing. So when they say this
- 6:57Speaker 2: about Roman Anthony, I know a guy, Justinholder, who used
- 7:01Speaker 2: to coach him in high school, just talked about how
- 7:06Speaker 2: he was mature. I would say physical maturity is something
- 7:09Speaker 2: that comes at a different time for everybody. He's physically gifted.
- 7:13Speaker 2: When you add in somebody that's that's mature and has
- 7:19Speaker 2: mental maturity to add to it, that's when you start
- 7:22Speaker 2: getting guys who are you know, could be perennial All Stars,
- 7:25Speaker 2: could be guys that grow into their power, which he
- 7:29Speaker 2: hasn't grown Roman Anthony, he hasn't grown into his power yet.
- 7:31Speaker 2: I think he's twenty three or twenty seven extra base hits,
- 7:35Speaker 2: like an ops of like eight forty so, but he
- 7:38Speaker 2: only has five homers. So he's gonna start hitting more
- 7:41Speaker 2: homers when he grows into his physical maturity and his
- 7:46Speaker 2: big league swing comes through. To me, it is that
- 7:49Speaker 2: is you're talking about like an MVP type of candidate.
- 7:52Speaker 2: You're talking about a perennial All Star type of candidate.
- 7:55Speaker 2: And it's all because, oh, he has that extra and
- 7:58Speaker 2: tangible which is the mental maturity to handle the ups
- 8:02Speaker 2: and downs of the game.
- 8:06Speaker 3: Okay, Kratz, I opened up Arena Club, put my own
- 8:08Speaker 3: money in there, and I wasn't gonna go big.
- 8:11Speaker 2: I know.
- 8:11Speaker 3: We went over the Ruby pack a week ago. This time,
- 8:14Speaker 3: I just went for the low level pack where it's
- 8:17Speaker 3: an easy entry point twenty five bucks. You can get
- 8:19Speaker 3: yourself a big Boy card. The grail has many good options.
- 8:23Speaker 3: I slice open the pack. We're looking at it if
- 8:25Speaker 3: you're watching us right now, and I pull a card
- 8:27Speaker 3: from the nineteen fifties. Super cool. I enjoyed the experience
- 8:32Speaker 3: looking at it. It's Jim Gilliam. It's the top set
- 8:34Speaker 3: from the mid fifties. But I got an offer for
- 8:37Speaker 3: more than what the slap pack costs, and I sold
- 8:40Speaker 3: it back. Tough times for the Dodgers right now, don't
- 8:43Speaker 3: at me, but I got twenty eight bucks instantly, so
- 8:45Speaker 3: I can buy another one of those packs and try
- 8:47Speaker 3: and get what I want.
- 8:49Speaker 2: Absolutely the excitement I heard Kip say before. The excitement's
- 8:53Speaker 2: in the chase. You sold it back. Now you get
- 8:55Speaker 2: to open another one. I enjoy when you slide it
- 8:58Speaker 2: across the screen.
- 8:59Speaker 1: There.
- 9:00Speaker 3: Pack opens arenaclub dot com slash foul twenty percent off
- 9:03Speaker 3: your first lab pack or card purchase. Get after it.
- 9:06Speaker 1: Yeah, no, I agree, and I think you're dead on.
- 9:09Speaker 1: I think for Boston this is going to be like
- 9:11Speaker 1: the start of their window, right Like, I don't think
- 9:13Speaker 1: they have enough this year to go to the World Series.
- 9:15Speaker 1: They could use a middle of the order big bat.
- 9:17Speaker 1: I mean, I don't know where they would have gotten that.
- 9:19Speaker 1: Oh wait, they traded away Raphaeldevers. I think that, you
- 9:22Speaker 1: know that's gonna end up obviously hurting them a little
- 9:24Speaker 1: bit this year. But if Craig Breslow getsie okay from
- 9:27Speaker 1: John Henry, if they do agree to spend and supplement
- 9:29Speaker 1: this core, I think this could be a really interesting
- 9:31Speaker 1: winter for the Red Sox. The Yankees. In my mind,
- 9:34Speaker 1: I'm a little confused because last year we saw on
- 9:37Speaker 1: the big stage, and people in the comments are getting
- 9:39Speaker 1: into this too, like fundamentally they're not a good team,
- 9:42Speaker 1: and you see that. You've seen them in a lot
- 9:43Speaker 1: of the games that they've lost this year. I mean,
- 9:45Speaker 1: I remember the Toronto series against them, where the Blue Jays,
- 9:47Speaker 1: obviously in first place, put the ball in play all
- 9:50Speaker 1: the time, they don't strike out. They were just kind
- 9:52Speaker 1: of running a book on the Yankees. And when your
- 9:55Speaker 1: struggles are on such a big platform like the Yankees
- 9:57Speaker 1: were last year, why do you not go out and
- 9:59Speaker 1: then fundamentally address that. And that's part of the issue
- 10:02Speaker 1: that fans have in Aaron Boone, I think is there's
- 10:04Speaker 1: so little that manager can control. But fundamentally, the Yankee
- 10:08Speaker 1: should be a better team. Right We're in the big leagues,
- 10:10Speaker 1: and I think when you see some of the stuff
- 10:12Speaker 1: that they don't do well, how poor they are defensive metrics,
- 10:15Speaker 1: base running metrics. You know, they're not a team. They're
- 10:18Speaker 1: not the Toronto Blue Jays. They don't put the ball
- 10:20Speaker 1: in play at a high clip. These are things that
- 10:22Speaker 1: they need to get better at. And these are also
- 10:24Speaker 1: reasons why I don't think, of course accident of Garrett
- 10:27Speaker 1: Cole and some of the things that they're missing this year,
- 10:29Speaker 1: that they're not built for a deep October run in
- 10:31Speaker 1: my mind either. I don't know how you see it,
- 10:33Speaker 1: but to me, these are two teams that are fighting
- 10:36Speaker 1: for a wildcard spot, but ultimately I have early exit
- 10:39Speaker 1: for both of these teams for different reasons. I think
- 10:41Speaker 1: you could be a lot more optimistic right now if
- 10:43Speaker 1: you're a Boston Red Sox fan.
- 10:45Speaker 2: Okay, I'm going to first hit on something that bothers me.
- 10:49Speaker 2: When when people watch games or play, you know, ce games,
- 10:53Speaker 2: they always want to run back these narratives. They always
- 10:56Speaker 2: want to run back like narratives of kind of what
- 10:59Speaker 2: you are alluding to, in the sense of, like they
- 11:01Speaker 2: don't play good defense, Yeah, for sure. They've they led
- 11:06Speaker 2: major League Baseball on air since you all start break.
- 11:08Speaker 2: I think they have twenty nine. But I would say
- 11:10Speaker 2: they addressed those issues. They brought in Paul Goldschmidt, who
- 11:15Speaker 2: was playing better than the platoon people, and then Anthony
- 11:18Speaker 2: Rizzo came back, but he wasn't himself last year, so
- 11:21Speaker 2: that's an upgrade. They moved Chisholm back to second base,
- 11:26Speaker 2: who all of a sudden now can't turn a double
- 11:29Speaker 2: play and he throws it into the stands, you know,
- 11:31Speaker 2: game every other game. They upgraded a third base in
- 11:37Speaker 2: Ryan McMahon, and so to me, those are three upgrades
- 11:41Speaker 2: at positions that they needed. Those. The issue is you're
- 11:45Speaker 2: having a bad year from Volpi. You're having some of
- 11:48Speaker 2: their pitchers who don't field the ball very well, and
- 11:51Speaker 2: you're having a guy last night and Ben Rice who
- 11:54Speaker 2: threw the ball in the center field obviously hit a
- 11:56Speaker 2: dang or two, hasn't caught much. So it's almost like
- 12:01Speaker 2: they're stealing from Peter to pay Paul. It's like you
- 12:06Speaker 2: have to figure out what the best lineup is defensively
- 12:09Speaker 2: and offensively, and up until now, up and up until
- 12:14Speaker 2: this season when they upgraded with McMahon, and they shifted
- 12:19Speaker 2: Jazz over to second base. Their entire roster, their entire
- 12:24Speaker 2: position player roster was made up of dudes who hit
- 12:27Speaker 2: the ball really freaking hard and hit the ball out
- 12:29Speaker 2: of the ballpark that plays in the playoffs. I think
- 12:32Speaker 2: they have a better chance than the Red Sox because
- 12:36Speaker 2: of that. But I agree with you. I don't think
- 12:39Speaker 2: these teams are necessarily built for a late run unless
- 12:45Speaker 2: they can clean those things up, and I think the
- 12:47Speaker 2: Red Sox are in better position to clean those things up.
- 12:51Speaker 2: I mean, I'm sorry, the Yankees are in better position
- 12:54Speaker 2: to clean clean some of that up. Do they do it?
- 12:57Speaker 2: Who knows?
- 13:00Speaker 1: See disagree, Eric? What if I told you the teams
- 13:02Speaker 1: that may contact more actually do better than the high
- 13:04Speaker 1: power teams in the playoffs because power pitching almost always
- 13:07Speaker 1: speaks power hitting, So teams like the Astros, who historically
- 13:10Speaker 1: have been a contact team do well in the postseason.
- 13:13Speaker 1: So I do not think that the Yankees are built
- 13:16Speaker 1: better than the Red Sox at all. For October. I'm
- 13:18Speaker 1: going to disagree on that, but we can. You got
- 13:20Speaker 1: you got a counter point.
- 13:21Speaker 2: Let's hear it, last last point, so we can move
- 13:24Speaker 2: on no team has ever made it to the World
- 13:26Speaker 2: Series or has won the World Series without being top
- 13:29Speaker 2: four in home runs. So what about rate? Just talking
- 13:34Speaker 2: about home runs? Just talking about home You gotta hit bangers,
- 13:38Speaker 2: You gotta hit bangers. Guess who's back back again? Yes,
- 13:43Speaker 2: who's back? I guess who's back. Craig Camberrell, Kimber, veteran reliever.
- 13:52Speaker 2: It's Craig Camberrill signing with the Houston Astros. He'll be
- 13:55Speaker 2: joining the big league team. He'll be joining the big
- 13:59Speaker 2: I've been trying to find out what he's been doing
- 14:03Speaker 2: in the last and I couldn't get any answers back
- 14:05Speaker 2: from anybody, but I know there had to be some
- 14:07Speaker 2: fishing and golf going on. Do you think he hits
- 14:11Speaker 2: it here? Do you think is it the spot or
- 14:13Speaker 2: is this a desperate Astro effort? Because I don't think
- 14:18Speaker 2: Craig Kimbro can hit it all and the Astros have
- 14:21Speaker 2: scored less than seven runs in their last six games
- 14:24Speaker 2: before last night.
- 14:26Speaker 1: Yes, but to me, I think you roll the dice here,
- 14:29Speaker 1: don't you? What's the down side? He sucks to cut
- 14:31Speaker 1: ties like you just you're talking about a guy who's
- 14:34Speaker 1: got more active saves than anybody in the game minus
- 14:36Speaker 1: Kelly Janssen. He's thirty seven years old. He's been in
- 14:39Speaker 1: big situations. Does he have a little bit of juice
- 14:42Speaker 1: left in the arm. We're about to find out. He
- 14:44Speaker 1: gives some bullpen depth. They do need a little depth
- 14:46Speaker 1: in the bullpen, so I don't have a problem with this.
- 14:49Speaker 1: I agree with you. They have some holes, but they're
- 14:51Speaker 1: on a tight race with Seattle, So if Craig Kimberl
- 14:55Speaker 1: has just a little bit left, he could help them.
- 14:58Speaker 2: And he's kind of streaking, so they could put them
- 15:01Speaker 2: in and find three hot weeks. Is he gonna win
- 15:04Speaker 2: in the World Series? No, don't expect that. But if
- 15:07Speaker 2: I'm a reliever in the minor leagues right now, and
- 15:10Speaker 2: I have an out on August twenty fifth, which is
- 15:13Speaker 2: a lot of guys, do hopefully the Astros come calling.
- 15:21Speaker 1: The Yankees are hosting Seinfeld Night tonight. Look at this line.
- 15:26Speaker 1: They're giving away a bobblehead of George Costanza sleeping under
- 15:30Speaker 1: his desk. Look at this quote. I love a good nap.
- 15:33Speaker 1: Sometimes it's the only thing getting me out in bed
- 15:36Speaker 1: in the morning. I feel that so hard with a
- 15:38Speaker 1: three year old and an eight month old Cratzy. I
- 15:41Speaker 1: love a good nap, and there's Cratsy already napping. I also,
- 15:47Speaker 1: I also have to say, I don't know how you
- 15:49Speaker 1: feel about Seinfeld, but I'm not a huge Seinfeld person. However,
- 15:53Speaker 1: I would probably wait in line for that because those
- 15:55Speaker 1: are the kind of things that are probably going to
- 15:57Speaker 1: be resold for like ten Well they're free, They're gonna
- 16:00Speaker 1: be resold for I don't even know what a couple
- 16:02Speaker 1: hundred bucks. Right. These are games that you go to,
- 16:05Speaker 1: you get the giveaway, and then you're like, hey, all
- 16:07Speaker 1: my food and alcoholic tickets basically free as long as
- 16:09Speaker 1: I sell this bobblehead. That's how I look at it.
- 16:12Speaker 1: But you seem like a collector with all the stuff
- 16:14Speaker 1: with your background.
- 16:14Speaker 2: There, so there, I am not a collector. This is
- 16:17Speaker 2: all stuff that my teammates gave me. I am not
- 16:20Speaker 2: a I am not a collector. I don't have a
- 16:22Speaker 2: lot of bobble heads, but the Yankees really need bobbleheads.
- 16:26Speaker 2: I feel like there's I feel like the Yankees are
- 16:28Speaker 2: like the one team that doesn't do like a ton
- 16:31Speaker 2: of bobblehead nights. No shades, the Dodgers, the Dodgers have
- 16:35Speaker 2: had seven Otani bobbleheads already with like with with Uh Decoy,
- 16:43Speaker 2: I was thinking Scout, but Decoy you had. You have
- 16:46Speaker 2: the golden babble heads you have. People love them, but
- 16:50Speaker 2: I'm a Shinfeld fan. I don't rewatch them, though I
- 16:53Speaker 2: like the show.
- 16:59Speaker 1: FT fan.
- 17:00Speaker 2: Do you want to have confidence when you go out
- 17:02Speaker 2: in public? Absolutely, we can't all wear a backwards hat
- 17:05Speaker 2: like me. But you can get some True Classic fit shirts.
- 17:08Speaker 2: It almost looks like, oh wow, the shirt was tailored
- 17:11Speaker 2: for me. Nope, it's every True Classic. This john is soft,
- 17:16Speaker 2: it is smooth, and it makes you look a little jacked.
- 17:20Speaker 3: I'm just saying, and Krats, you are jacked and you
- 17:24Speaker 3: are spot on. True Classic is the spot to go
- 17:26Speaker 3: if someone's like, where do I get shirts? True Classic.
- 17:29Speaker 3: The colors are fantastic. They've sold over twenty five million
- 17:33Speaker 3: shirts to more than five million customers. Their shirts just win.
- 17:37Speaker 3: The feel, the tailored look, the price. We all wear
- 17:40Speaker 3: True Classic on FT. I mean cam maybe literally can't
- 17:43Speaker 3: say enough about them too. Next time we have Camon,
- 17:46Speaker 3: hit up True Classic dot com slash foul give it
- 17:48Speaker 3: a shot, upgrade your wardrobe and save on True classic
- 17:52Speaker 3: at true, Classic dot com slash foul, that's true, classic
- 17:55Speaker 3: dot com slash fo u l.
- 18:09Speaker 1: All right, better than box scores. Let's get to the
- 18:12Speaker 1: team that everybody is talking about lately, the Milwaukee Brewers
- 18:16Speaker 1: eighty wins eric nobody else is even close. Is Pat
- 18:21Speaker 1: Murphy gonna win an L Manager of the Year again?
- 18:24Speaker 1: In my mind, I don't know how he doesn't, right which.
- 18:26Speaker 2: He's gonna hate it if he does. He's gonna hate
- 18:29Speaker 2: it if he does. He does, he doesn't want the award,
- 18:31Speaker 2: but they're playing.
- 18:32Speaker 1: Well, he's got to. I don't you know. I'm looking
- 18:36Speaker 1: at it and he really I don't know who's the
- 18:39Speaker 1: last manager that went back to back. It feels like
- 18:40Speaker 1: you win Manager of the Year and then two or
- 18:42Speaker 1: three years later you get fired. That was the case
- 18:44Speaker 1: with Brendon Hyde, That's been the case with Buck show Walters.
- 18:48Speaker 1: But the case with a bunch of managers really that
- 18:50Speaker 1: you know, you win the award and then you know,
- 18:51Speaker 1: a couple of years later, yuh skip, Schumacher no longer managing.
- 18:54Speaker 1: But I digress. The Brewers a team full of you know,
- 18:58Speaker 1: players that most casual bas small fans have not heard of.
- 19:01Speaker 1: That are just playing out of their minds because they
- 19:03Speaker 1: play part of a system and these guys are all
- 19:06Speaker 1: They play the game right. We talked about fundamentals with
- 19:08Speaker 1: the Yankees. We talked about, you know, doing the little
- 19:10Speaker 1: things right. This team is just constantly putting pressure on opponents,
- 19:14Speaker 1: going first to third, you know, running the bases efficiently,
- 19:17Speaker 1: playing Chris Baseball. They do have the power. The power
- 19:20Speaker 1: is we're in the pitching staff. The power is not
- 19:22Speaker 1: in their lineup. And of course Brewers fans that are
- 19:24Speaker 1: listening say, oh god, I know we're good in the
- 19:27Speaker 1: regular season. Are we ever going to win in the playoffs? Like?
- 19:29Speaker 1: Do you think this team is better set up than
- 19:31Speaker 1: previous iterations to finally advance and go on a deep ruth?
- 19:35Speaker 2: I do, But I still need to continue to see it.
- 19:38Speaker 2: I don't need to continue to see him win. They
- 19:41Speaker 2: know how to win. I need to see how they're
- 19:45Speaker 2: rolling into the playoffs. Are they healthy? Do they have
- 19:50Speaker 2: that do they have the consistent lockdown of the sixth
- 19:57Speaker 2: through eighth inning? Are those areas that they have guys
- 20:00Speaker 2: that can compete in the postseason, because right now they
- 20:05Speaker 2: are exactly like they have been the last seven out
- 20:09Speaker 2: of eight years when they have made the playoffs. They
- 20:12Speaker 2: have a dominant closer. Oh wait, hater's gone. Oh wait,
- 20:16Speaker 2: Devin Williams is gone. Step in next, dominant closer. They
- 20:21Speaker 2: have three legit first game, first three games of the
- 20:26Speaker 2: playoffs starting pitchers. They're a little bit deeper in this though.
- 20:29Speaker 2: They're a little bit deeper in this category. Big Wu
- 20:31Speaker 2: had a little bit of a blip for him on
- 20:35Speaker 2: the radar, but he's got a below a two and
- 20:37Speaker 2: a half era. Freddie p is going to start your
- 20:39Speaker 2: first game. The misz is a guy that's going to
- 20:43Speaker 2: give you electric innings. Does he have enough experience? Have
- 20:47Speaker 2: they figured him out? This is all stuff that we
- 20:50Speaker 2: have to watch September. This team has a great lead
- 20:54Speaker 2: and they will never become complacent because Pat Murphy will
- 20:57Speaker 2: not let them get complacent. I think the different everybody
- 21:01Speaker 2: thinks that this team was just outplayed because they were
- 21:05Speaker 2: bounced early in playoffs since twenty eighteen when we made
- 21:09Speaker 2: a run to Game seven and lost to the Dodgers.
- 21:12Speaker 2: It's not the case. There's been some crazy like to
- 21:16Speaker 2: say you would have the lead you had in the
- 21:20Speaker 2: elimination game, and Devin Williams on the mound, the game's over.
- 21:24Speaker 2: They should be in the next round. But I don't
- 21:26Speaker 2: think this team wants to make it to the next round.
- 21:30Speaker 2: They want to win a World Series. And I don't
- 21:32Speaker 2: think there is a city besides maybe Cleveland and Seattle
- 21:38Speaker 2: that wants a World Series more than Milwaukee fans. And
- 21:42Speaker 2: I think this team, especially when Reece Hoskins comes back,
- 21:45Speaker 2: is going to have a lot more power depth in
- 21:48Speaker 2: this lineup to be able to get them over the hump.
- 21:53Speaker 1: Yeah. By the way, two managers recently have not kind
- 21:56Speaker 1: of recently, have one back to back. Kevin Cash raise
- 21:59Speaker 1: manager twenty and twenty one. He's got to be one
- 22:01Speaker 1: of the longest tenure managers going now, Kevin Cash and
- 22:04Speaker 1: Bobby Cox in Atlanta, and that I think was back
- 22:08Speaker 1: in four five. So it does happen. They don't always
- 22:12Speaker 1: win and get fired. It just seems like it because
- 22:14Speaker 1: it's a tough gig. Let's get to Let's get to
- 22:17Speaker 1: Kansas City where Vidi Pascuantino passquatch friend of the show
- 22:21Speaker 1: has been red hot for Homer's four consecutive games. Look
- 22:25Speaker 1: at that one go. He does not swing lightly gratzy.
- 22:30Speaker 1: He's a guy who you know is kind of like
- 22:31Speaker 1: Brent Firro and Buxton to me of the twins, like,
- 22:33Speaker 1: as he goes, it feels like the Royals go. Look
- 22:37Speaker 1: at that swing, he would say.
- 22:41Speaker 2: I would say, yes, yes, as he goes, the Royals go.
- 22:44Speaker 2: But it's still Bobby Wits Team, Bobby Wits. Still he's
- 22:49Speaker 2: the he's the energy, He's the red bull in the
- 22:52Speaker 2: red Bull and vodka drink. Vinnie P. Vinnie P is
- 22:56Speaker 2: the guy that is probably never going to get his
- 22:59Speaker 2: due because he just drives in a hundred runs every
- 23:02Speaker 2: year and people are like RBI's it wouldn't happen without
- 23:07Speaker 2: Bobby Wood, it wouldn't happen without mikel Franco or sometimes
- 23:11Speaker 2: Is Bells leading off for India this year, or you know,
- 23:14Speaker 2: he's always driving in Salvador Perez got to you gotta
- 23:17Speaker 2: be able to hit the ball to get it out
- 23:18Speaker 2: of Kaufman. And what Vinnie P has done, especially if
- 23:23Speaker 2: you look back at what he did in April, he
- 23:26Speaker 2: has been not only one of the more productive RBI
- 23:30Speaker 2: guys in the game, but his quality played appearances, seeing
- 23:34Speaker 2: pitches and them culminating in a successful at bat, whether
- 23:39Speaker 2: it's hit hard, maybe didn't get maybe it didn't get
- 23:42Speaker 2: a hit, but he's driving runs in in different ways
- 23:46Speaker 2: in all of baseball. Like and you sit there and
- 23:49Speaker 2: you go, well, who are the stars for the Royals.
- 23:52Speaker 2: Salvador Perez, Bobby Wid Junior, Michel Franco's a a all star?
- 24:00Speaker 2: Oh oh wait a minute, yeah, Vinnie Passmenttino. I think
- 24:04Speaker 2: he is the unsung hero of that team that is
- 24:09Speaker 2: only two names out of the wildcard and everybody thought
- 24:11Speaker 2: they should be selling at the trade deadline, and they said, nah,
- 24:15Speaker 2: we're gonna buy.
- 24:16Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 24:17Speaker 1: Fifteen of his twenty six overs had given the Royals
- 24:19Speaker 1: a lead this year. I remember even dating back to
- 24:21Speaker 1: last year in the playoffs I where he had the
- 24:23Speaker 1: injury and they worked sure if he was going to
- 24:24Speaker 1: be available for the Orioles and that wildcard series, and
- 24:27Speaker 1: it made a big difference, you know. And we're talking
- 24:29Speaker 1: to scouts at the time that we're like, hit the
- 24:31Speaker 1: lineup is basically just Bobby Witt. If you add Vinnie
- 24:34Speaker 1: into the lineup, all of a sudden, you can't pitchure
- 24:36Speaker 1: on Bobby Wit because you know you got Viny too.
- 24:37Speaker 1: So I agree with you. It's Bobby Wit Junior's team.
- 24:40Speaker 1: He's the huge face. But to me, Vinny is the
- 24:42Speaker 1: guy that lengthens that lineup, that adds another dimension that
- 24:46Speaker 1: makes you go, oh okay, I got to work around
- 24:48Speaker 1: this guy too. Then I got Salpaerez. You know, I've
- 24:51Speaker 1: got a little bit more to worry about when he
- 24:54Speaker 1: is healthy. Kansas City, as you mentioned at eight and
- 24:56Speaker 1: two home stand one of their best home stands. I mean,
- 24:59Speaker 1: this is a team that is kind of reminiscent at
- 25:01Speaker 1: times of those fourteen to fifteen teams. The fifteen team
- 25:05Speaker 1: obviously won the World Series. That fourteen team got there,
- 25:08Speaker 1: wasn't able to get it done. But I never thought
- 25:10Speaker 1: they were going to sell Cratzy. You look at this
- 25:13Speaker 1: front office, Juji Piccola. You look at the ownership group
- 25:15Speaker 1: now with John Sherman. They spent an unprecedented amount of
- 25:18Speaker 1: money for them two winters ago. They believe their window
- 25:21Speaker 1: is now. They signed Bobby Wood Junior to that deal.
- 25:23Speaker 1: They promised him they were going to win. They're going
- 25:25Speaker 1: to continue to try to push their chips in and
- 25:28Speaker 1: you know, why shouldn't they. This is a team that
- 25:31Speaker 1: has kind of been built around pitching. Is not a
- 25:34Speaker 1: team full of huge luggers as we've As we mentioned
- 25:36Speaker 1: obviously with past Pontino can do some damage a couple
- 25:39Speaker 1: other guys. But you know, they are going to win
- 25:41Speaker 1: the Kansas City way, and I think they have as
- 25:44Speaker 1: much chance as anybody is getting in the say oh
- 25:46Speaker 1: wild card. It's really a wide open wildcard grace right now.
- 25:50Speaker 1: And you look at how that all shakes out. Obviously
- 25:52Speaker 1: they're not going to touch the Tigers. I don't know
- 25:54Speaker 1: if we want to go to those standings, but you know,
- 25:56Speaker 1: Detroit is so much better than any other team in
- 25:58Speaker 1: the Central, but Kansas City's right in the thick of
- 26:01Speaker 1: things right now as it stands. I wouldn't be surprised
- 26:03Speaker 1: at all if they go back to the playoffs. And
- 26:05Speaker 1: you can look at this right here, two games you
- 26:07Speaker 1: got Cleveland hanging around a little bit further back, it
- 26:10Speaker 1: is Texas. To me, you're probably looking at Cleveland, Casey, Seattle, Boston,
- 26:13Speaker 1: and New York that are fighting those five teams fighting
- 26:16Speaker 1: over those three spots. Seattle of course hoping to not
- 26:19Speaker 1: be in this mix at all because they are very
- 26:21Speaker 1: much still in the division race with Houston. How do
- 26:25Speaker 1: you like Kansas City and how this all steps up.
- 26:28Speaker 2: Well, you should love Kansas City because they put the
- 26:30Speaker 2: ball in play, and Ida said, that's that's how you
- 26:34Speaker 2: win GameSpy, you hate it.
- 26:36Speaker 1: On for saying this. This is a fundamental baseball thing
- 26:39Speaker 1: that is now coming back in vogue. Let's embrace it. It's
- 26:41Speaker 1: not the three true outcomes anymore. Who wants to watch
- 26:44Speaker 1: walk strikeout, home run? It is boring baseball. Give me doubles,
- 26:47Speaker 1: give me first, the third, give me triples. Bring it
- 26:49Speaker 1: all Backcratsy, bring it all back.
- 26:51Speaker 2: And see I didn't see any of those doubles, triples,
- 26:55Speaker 2: first of thirds in the highlight that we just showed
- 26:57Speaker 2: a Vinnie Pascentino, the whole everybody. Everybody finds a way.
- 27:02Speaker 2: Everybody finds a way to find somebody that's gonna hit
- 27:05Speaker 2: a Dinger and Kaufman. If you build your team around dingers,
- 27:10Speaker 2: it ain't gonna happen. You have you'll have years where
- 27:12Speaker 2: guys pop up. Moose after the year he got hurt,
- 27:15Speaker 2: he put in work forty plus dingers, Jorge Solaire forty
- 27:19Speaker 2: plus dingers, Salvado Perez forty plus dingers. But you can't
- 27:23Speaker 2: rely and live on that. You have to do exactly
- 27:28Speaker 2: what you said you have to put the ball in
- 27:29Speaker 2: play in this team not only doesn't strike out, but
- 27:34Speaker 2: they put together good at bats. They put together good
- 27:36Speaker 2: at bats up and down the lineup. And I thought
- 27:39Speaker 2: Jonathan India was gonna be was gonna have a more
- 27:43Speaker 2: of a monster season than he's had. But I think
- 27:45Speaker 2: what he brought to this team is quality at bats.
- 27:49Speaker 2: They were always a team that didn't strike out a lot,
- 27:51Speaker 2: but I love how they're not chasing as much. Before
- 27:54Speaker 2: they just didn't strike out because they put the ball
- 27:57Speaker 2: in play. They would just, you know, oh, I'm not
- 28:00Speaker 2: going to strike out, so I'm going to you know,
- 28:02Speaker 2: maybe reach out and touch a ball that isn't going
- 28:04Speaker 2: to give me hard contact. Now their hard contact is elevated.
- 28:09Speaker 2: It's not resulting in more a ton more homers, but
- 28:12Speaker 2: it's resulting in better at bats that keep them in
- 28:16Speaker 2: the game and they're wearing down starting pitchers and then
- 28:19Speaker 2: they're able to get that big hit ftfam When you're
- 28:24Speaker 2: playing games, you kind of have some stress anxiety. Teammates
- 28:28Speaker 2: need somebody something to help. Now it's at your fingertips.

- 29:19Speaker 3: better mental health today. You deserve quality care from someone
- 29:22Speaker 3: who cares.
- 29:23Speaker 1: All. Right, little Max Monsey update we've got right now.
- 29:26Speaker 1: He looks like he's progressing a little bit crazzy. He's
- 29:29Speaker 1: taken swings off a tee. He's not feeling any discomfort
- 29:32Speaker 1: in as oblique. That's a positive sign in my mind.
- 29:35Speaker 1: They're still going to slow play this a little bit though,
- 29:37Speaker 1: because he's dealt with this injury before. Obliques are a
- 29:40Speaker 1: little pasky though obviously the Dodgers contended to continue to
- 29:44Speaker 1: be a banged up club. They could certainly use him
- 29:46Speaker 1: because when he's not hurt, he's been very effective for them,
- 29:49Speaker 1: and I think he's a guy that's definitely going to
- 29:53Speaker 1: be able to help them when he comes back. I
- 29:54Speaker 1: think they anticipate him coming back at some point before
- 29:57Speaker 1: the season is over. But again, obliques are just something
- 30:00Speaker 1: that you know better than me. It seems like in baseball,
- 30:03Speaker 1: you go and you test it, you got to be
- 30:04Speaker 1: careful because if you tweak it again, you're back at
- 30:07Speaker 1: square one. So it is definitely a delicate situation here,
- 30:11Speaker 1: and I'm sure they're going to monitor how he feels
- 30:13Speaker 1: after those swings, which is probably even more important the
- 30:16Speaker 1: next day than it is presently.
- 30:17Speaker 2: When it comes to obliques, they always talk about an injury,
- 30:20Speaker 2: is ourtp return to play? What does that process look
- 30:24Speaker 2: like for an oblique? It definitely looks different when you've
- 30:28Speaker 2: had an oblique before. Hopefully Max knows where he needs
- 30:33Speaker 2: to be, but it's something that you don't want to
- 30:35Speaker 2: reaggravate this. You need if you're the Dodgers, you need
- 30:39Speaker 2: Max Monsey. Max Munsey if he goes zero for four
- 30:43Speaker 2: or if he goes two for two in a game.
- 30:47Speaker 2: He is so valuable because he always sees so many pitches,
- 30:51Speaker 2: and I think he changes this lineup more than his
- 30:54Speaker 2: numbers would say.
- 30:58Speaker 1: All right, they're adding panels. Big news. Trump candle Field
- 31:01Speaker 1: obviously devastated the hurricane. They're adding panels back on cratzy
- 31:07Speaker 1: nature is healing, Raise the Roof tweeted that out look
- 31:10Speaker 1: at that they're on the mend there, you know, I
- 31:13Speaker 1: actually don't know. I don't know if you know either.
- 31:16Speaker 1: Are they anticipating this will be ready for next spring?
- 31:19Speaker 1: Is that the goal here? Twenty six?
- 31:21Speaker 2: That's what I heard. That's what I heard. But my
- 31:24Speaker 2: the biggest news is, I mean, I don't obviously have
- 31:26Speaker 2: no idea. Construction always takes. You know, it's like the
- 31:29Speaker 2: movie I forgot the movies even called, but they're always
- 31:31Speaker 2: like two weeks, two weeks, two weeks later. Oh it'll
- 31:35Speaker 2: be two weeks anybody through construction, so it's no different
- 31:38Speaker 2: for them. The news is, do you see the color
- 31:40Speaker 2: of it? I hope they do not put some type
- 31:43Speaker 2: of white covering over that blue tarp. I hope it
- 31:46Speaker 2: stays blue because they're moving out of there soon. If
- 31:50Speaker 2: it stays blue, that is a game changer. You'll be
- 31:53Speaker 2: able to see a pop up up there without you know,
- 31:56Speaker 2: risking life and limb. So I don't know. Maybe I'm
- 31:59Speaker 2: just hopeful of that, but we'll see.
- 32:02Speaker 1: Yeah, Well, well, you're right, people complained about that all
- 32:04Speaker 1: the time. That and all the catwalks right, everything is
- 32:06Speaker 1: white for people who haven't ever gone to a game
- 32:09Speaker 1: there and it's domed, and all you know, a ball
- 32:11Speaker 1: is foul or a ball is this that, depending on
- 32:13Speaker 1: where it hits on that group. So yeah, I'll stay,
- 32:18Speaker 1: but it'll be a lot easier for guys who play
- 32:22Speaker 1: outfield there who complain about the turf and who complain
- 32:24Speaker 1: about trying to find the ball once it gets into
- 32:27Speaker 1: the air there. So I still don't really know a
- 32:29Speaker 1: lot of the rules. Every time I was there on
- 32:31Speaker 1: the Oriel speed, it felt like something wacky came up,
- 32:33Speaker 1: and it only happens to traffic cana Field right where
- 32:36Speaker 1: we're like catwalk B beeds this, catwalk C beeds this
- 32:40Speaker 1: and You're like.
- 32:41Speaker 2: What who would? Who would? Who would build it? Like
- 32:45Speaker 2: shame on them whoever was? Never again, whenever they get
- 32:49Speaker 2: their new stadium, whatever city it's going to be in,
- 32:53Speaker 2: not that company. I mean, it's like it's like playing
- 32:55Speaker 2: arena arena baseball.
- 32:57Speaker 1: It shouldn't happen, it is, but climate controls so selfishly
- 33:01Speaker 1: for the media. Is an excellent place. It's always like
- 33:03Speaker 1: seventy two degrees in there, and you never agry about
- 33:06Speaker 1: a green delay. But new ownership get it done. Build
- 33:10Speaker 1: a nicer stadium, no catwalks. I'm pretty sure that place
- 33:14Speaker 1: is like a million years old, cratzy. It was never
- 33:16Speaker 1: meant to be. It's like state of the art baseball stadium,
- 33:19Speaker 1: right like yeah, right.
- 33:23Speaker 2: Like it's climate control, that's what that's what they're that's
- 33:26Speaker 2: what they're going for. I mean, Chuck E Cheese is
- 33:28Speaker 2: climate controlled too. They don't play baseball games there, Like,
- 33:31Speaker 2: come on, you know.
- 33:32Speaker 4: I only watch them, I only watch them.
- 33:43Speaker 2: Yes, we are looking ahead.
- 33:45Speaker 1: We are looking ahead. Well, it's it's perfect. We were
- 33:48Speaker 1: just talking about it this weekend's big series with can
- 33:51Speaker 1: the Dodgers and the Padres. You got Lake Snell, you
- 33:54Speaker 1: darbish lots of exciting games going on here. I know
- 33:58Speaker 1: that's that's going to be, Like I said, playoff atmosphere
- 34:01Speaker 1: type of baseball as well, any games you're looking forward to,
- 34:05Speaker 1: in particular this week at Eric before we get into
- 34:07Speaker 1: the whole slate of what's going on here in MLB
- 34:09Speaker 1: as we get closer and closer to September.
- 34:12Speaker 2: Oh for sure. I mean we have Red Sox, we
- 34:15Speaker 2: have the Red Sox Yankees series. There's no there's no
- 34:18Speaker 2: to me, there's no better matchup for both of these teams,
- 34:21Speaker 2: Freed versus Brian Beyo. Like Brian Beyo's kind of started
- 34:26Speaker 2: to look like he's taken that next step to be
- 34:28Speaker 2: the guy that's gonna slot in behind Garrett Crochet. A
- 34:33Speaker 2: little bit of a blip recently, but to me, these
- 34:38Speaker 2: are two teams that the rivalry is what the rivalry is,
- 34:42Speaker 2: so it's gonna be must Ce TV. I'm surprised that
- 34:44Speaker 2: Ken's not there doing doing that game, but he's in
- 34:48Speaker 2: he's in San Diego doing the doing the La La
- 34:52Speaker 2: and Padres game. Like, to me, these two series are
- 34:55Speaker 2: the Marquis series for this weekend. My favorite thing about
- 34:59Speaker 2: the Padres Dodgers game is each team's best pitchers are
- 35:05Speaker 2: matching up against each other. So you look at you
- 35:07Speaker 2: have Blake Snell, you have Glass, now you have Yamamoto.
- 35:10Speaker 2: For the Dodgers, it doesn't really matter for the Padres
- 35:13Speaker 2: because all their starters have to do is get it
- 35:16Speaker 2: to the fifth inning. I mean, now you don't have
- 35:19Speaker 2: to finish the fifth inning. You get it to the
- 35:21Speaker 2: fifth inning. And I think Shild's gonna empty his clip
- 35:24Speaker 2: in that bullpen. So to me, if you look, if
- 35:28Speaker 2: you look past the fifth inning, it's going to be
- 35:31Speaker 2: a long games. It's going to be Gasolina, and it's
- 35:36Speaker 2: going to be some elite, elite bullpen guys. And I
- 35:39Speaker 2: think the series shifts the Padres way because of that.
- 35:45Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree. I also think for the Padres, you
- 35:46Speaker 1: gotta win tonight. You just lost three in a row
- 35:48Speaker 1: to the Dodgers. You gotta get them out of your head.
- 35:51Speaker 1: You gotta go out tonight and kind of make a statement.
- 35:53Speaker 1: Not that you can't salvage the series if you don't
- 35:56Speaker 1: win tonight, but in my mind, especially at Pecko, especially
- 35:59Speaker 1: with those fans, so you want to keep them in this,
- 36:02Speaker 1: winning tonight would be a big statement. So that's obviously
- 36:05Speaker 1: going to be something I'm paying attention to. I'm going
- 36:07Speaker 1: to the game. I'm also going to have a Beaver's game.
- 36:09Speaker 1: He's playing Miami. As we mentioned, it's going to be
- 36:11Speaker 1: his return to the mound. How is he going to look?
- 36:14Speaker 1: That is really going to heavily play in because if
- 36:16Speaker 1: he's good, all of a sudden, the Blue Jays have
- 36:18Speaker 1: a little bit of a rotation competition. Not the worst
- 36:21Speaker 1: thing in the world down the stretch to have six
- 36:23Speaker 1: guys fighting for five jobs. Max Schurzer has pitched a
- 36:26Speaker 1: lot more like Max Schurzer as of late. They also
- 36:28Speaker 1: have Kevin Gossman obviously as well at Chris Bassett, so
- 36:31Speaker 1: they're going to have really an odd man out, which
- 36:34Speaker 1: is a great situation for a team to be in.
- 36:36Speaker 1: He's going to make his season debut against a Miami
- 36:39Speaker 1: team missing Kyle Stowers, who's been their best hitter, so
- 36:43Speaker 1: that's going to help a little bit as well. As
- 36:45Speaker 1: Ken mentioned, you're not sure what you're going to get.
- 36:46Speaker 1: Guys coming off Tommy John often have command issues, so
- 36:50Speaker 1: to be interesting to see how he bears how Miami
- 36:53Speaker 1: plays it in their first look at him as well.
- 36:55Speaker 1: So lots of really good games but we can highlight
- 37:00Speaker 1: what I think are the ones I'm going to have on.
- 37:01Speaker 1: It's hard. This is the time of year, Cratzy, where
- 37:03Speaker 1: I've got like four boxes up a lot and I'm
- 37:06Speaker 1: trying to pay attention to like what this game means here,
- 37:08Speaker 1: what this game means here, because we are getting into
- 37:10Speaker 1: the time of year where you know series matters, wins matter.
- 37:14Speaker 1: You're looking at a team like the Reds that you
- 37:16Speaker 1: know they're not playing like a big divisional opponent atch up,
- 37:19Speaker 1: but they are playing because they're trying to stay in
- 37:23Speaker 1: this wildcard race. Right There are teams that every win counts. Houston,
- 37:26Speaker 1: it's every win Seattle, like we're in this stretch here.
- 37:29Speaker 1: There's only a couple teams really like Milwaukee and Detroit,
- 37:33Speaker 1: where it's kind of like going to be cost season
- 37:35Speaker 1: here pretty soon, where they can lose a game here
- 37:37Speaker 1: and there and it's not really going to matter. Everybody
- 37:40Speaker 1: else is still very much in it. The clubs are
- 37:43Speaker 1: in an unusual situation in my mind, Cratzy. I don't
- 37:45Speaker 1: know how you feel, but how do you get up
- 37:47Speaker 1: for it knowing you have like a five and a
- 37:49Speaker 1: half game lead in the wildcard standings you're not catching Milwaukee,
- 37:52Speaker 1: but you're probably not going to fall out of the
- 37:55Speaker 1: wildcard race here either. There in a little bit of
- 37:57Speaker 1: a weird situation. I think looking at this like last
- 38:00Speaker 1: five weeks or so of the season, Yeah.
- 38:03Speaker 2: I mean the whole let up, the whole let up
- 38:05Speaker 2: or lead off thing. I don't I don't know. I
- 38:09Speaker 2: rarely see players actually confirming that that happened. Like, you
- 38:14Speaker 2: don't get complacent, like it's a big leagues like you,
- 38:16Speaker 2: you're trying to go out there and win every day.
- 38:19Speaker 2: Maybe managers manage games a little bit differently. You know,
- 38:21Speaker 2: you're not burning you're not burning your bullpen up, because
- 38:25Speaker 2: the Cubs need to make sure their bullpen is is
- 38:28Speaker 2: fresh going into this, going into the playoffs. But to me,
- 38:31Speaker 2: a big series that has one team that's completely out
- 38:34Speaker 2: of it, but it's playing a divisional opponent. It's the
- 38:37Speaker 2: Braves and Mets series. The Mets are scary close to
- 38:44Speaker 2: getting eliminated from the wildcard position that they've had the
- 38:48Speaker 2: entire season, and you talk about the Reds trying to
- 38:52Speaker 2: catch them. The Mets need to turn it around. They hit,
- 38:56Speaker 2: they hit lind Or hit the first inning home run yesterday,
- 38:59Speaker 2: and you go, okay, you know, here comes the Mets offense.
- 39:02Speaker 2: Here they are. Look at the standings, they're half a
- 39:06Speaker 2: game up, they're half a game up on the Reds,
- 39:09Speaker 2: and tonight they have kind of their project. McLean's going again.
- 39:15Speaker 2: He's got an opportunity to not just solidify his spot,
- 39:20Speaker 2: but continue to make that tryout to in a starting
- 39:24Speaker 2: rotation that needs so much help. They need so much help,
- 39:28Speaker 2: and they need length. They need quality starts from their starters.
- 39:33Speaker 2: And if he if he puts together two more of these,
- 39:35Speaker 2: that would only be three big league starts. You sit
- 39:38Speaker 2: there and you go, okay, this is a guy that
- 39:40Speaker 2: we can use in the postseason. And the Braves when
- 39:44Speaker 2: you play a divisional opponent that was supposed to be
- 39:47Speaker 2: really good. The Braves know this team. I get it.
- 39:51Speaker 2: They haven't been playing well. I get it. They're you know,
- 39:53Speaker 2: they're kind of being held together by duct tape and
- 39:57Speaker 2: duct tape and bubblegum. But this team knows how to
- 40:01Speaker 2: play in division and they're going to be tough.
- 40:16Speaker 1: All right, Kratz, we made it, We did it. We
- 40:18Speaker 1: got to the end. Let's see what your hat is.
- 40:20Speaker 1: Kratz's hats, what do.
- 40:22Speaker 2: You got best team in baseball, best record in baseball
- 40:25Speaker 2: by far. Then their eightieth win the brew Hajas yep.
- 40:29Speaker 1: Got free burgers for everybody. I mean, they have done
- 40:33Speaker 1: their job this season. The only question is will they
- 40:36Speaker 1: do it in October? Cratzy, That's what all the Brewers
- 40:38Speaker 1: fans of my life want to know. Will they do
- 40:40Speaker 1: it in October? You think they will. I'm starting to agree.
- 40:43Speaker 1: I'm starting to believe that this team is a little
- 40:45Speaker 1: bit different than Brewers teams.
- 40:47Speaker 4: Of the past.
- 40:49Speaker 1: Happy Friday everyone, thanks for joining us so much on
