- 3:20Speaker 1: Good evening, good evening, Welcome, Welcome, Welcome to the Crew
- 3:26Speaker 1: podcast and I am your host, Prophetence Alma Thomas from
- 3:33Speaker 1: Inspirational Moments with Prophets Tea and for the month of August,
- 3:40Speaker 1: we have a treat for you because since school is
- 3:44Speaker 1: starting back for a lot of people, I will be
- 3:48Speaker 1: talking about early education. Last week we talked about play
- 3:54Speaker 1: and this week we will have another topic. But before
- 3:59Speaker 1: we start, let's have prayer. There Heavenly Father and the
- 4:06Speaker 1: Prince's maxis name of your son, Jesus. We thank you
- 4:11Speaker 1: for all our gifts and talents. We ask you to
- 4:14Speaker 1: serve up our creative portals on tonight. God send those
- 4:20Speaker 1: that need to listen on tonight in the name of Jesus.
- 4:26Speaker 1: Once again, I am your host, Prophet is Teeth and
- 4:31Speaker 1: our quote for the night is Mathematics. Knows no races
- 4:38Speaker 1: or geographical boundaries for mathematics. Mathematics the cultural world is
- 4:47Speaker 1: one country and that was made by David Hilbert, a
- 4:53Speaker 1: German mathem maticien. So we're gonna get star when teaching
- 5:04Speaker 1: young children, let me back up a little bit. For
- 5:10Speaker 1: thirty two years I taught Headstart, which is a fairly
- 5:14Speaker 1: funded program for at risks.
- 5:17Speaker 2: At risk youth. So I did it for thirty two years.
- 5:23Speaker 2: I started.
- 5:25Speaker 1: I was just gonna work for a semester and go
- 5:29Speaker 1: back to college to study law. But once I got
- 5:33Speaker 1: into the classroom, I enjoyed seeing the children coming in
- 5:38Speaker 1: as blank colm canvases and leaving with so much knowledge
- 5:44Speaker 1: and education. So when teaching young children maths, young children
- 5:52Speaker 1: need to be taught basic math skills and a fun
- 5:56Speaker 1: and engaging way. Starting with any thing too complicated can
- 6:02Speaker 1: lead to frustration. Fun math activities boost child development. Introducing
- 6:11Speaker 1: preschoolers to fun math activities help develop everyday skills and
- 6:19Speaker 1: aid and brain development. Be creative. Young children are full
- 6:26Speaker 1: of injury, so they can get bored very quickly. Keep
- 6:31Speaker 1: introducing new concepts and games to hold their interest and
- 6:37Speaker 1: inspire a love of learning. You don't need to wait
- 6:44Speaker 1: and tell your child start school to introduce simple math concepts.
- 6:51Speaker 1: In fact, it is an intriguative part of early development.
- 6:56Speaker 1: Preschool math activities teach basic life skills such as memory,
- 7:03Speaker 1: retention and fine motor skills. Young children have a natural curiosity,
- 7:10Speaker 1: so it's the perfect time to introduce novel learning experience.
- 7:16Speaker 1: This is where fun math activities come in. By teaching
- 7:21Speaker 1: your children math concepts to play, you can inspire a
- 7:27Speaker 1: love of learning and begin the path to academic success.
- 7:35Speaker 1: You might ask why is math in preschool so important.
- 7:42Speaker 1: Maths can seem like a complex topic for preschoolers. However,
- 7:47Speaker 1: research has shown that children as young as three months
- 7:52Speaker 1: old can understand differences in numerical quantities, so it's never
- 7:58Speaker 1: too early to start. Children who develop strong math skills
- 8:05Speaker 1: early in life are also more likely to seceed in
- 8:09Speaker 1: school than their peers. Now, let's jump into some fun
- 8:25Speaker 1: preschool math activities that you can try out with young children.
- 8:33Speaker 2: One string beads on pipe cleaners.
- 8:38Speaker 1: This is a classic math activity that requires only two materials,
- 8:45Speaker 1: pipe cleaners and beads. You can find these at your
- 8:49Speaker 1: local dollar store. Simply thread a certain number of beads
- 8:54Speaker 1: onto each hype cleaner. This activity helps to develop motor
- 9:01Speaker 1: skills and basic counting ability, and also fine motor skills.
- 9:08Speaker 2: Two Counting puzzles.
- 9:12Speaker 1: Number puzzles are a fun way to learn for young
- 9:18Speaker 1: children to practice their accounting and number recognition skills.
- 9:24Speaker 2: For this exercise, right the digits.
- 9:29Speaker 1: One through ten on pieces of card stocks and the
- 9:34Speaker 1: corresponding number of dots or shapes or other pieces. Kids
- 9:41Speaker 1: need to match the correct digit with the right number
- 9:48Speaker 1: of dots three build in count and this game, children
- 10:05Speaker 1: first roll dice and then build the number rollbots.
- 10:13Speaker 2: They build a number robots that can block.
- 10:16Speaker 1: Once they have two or more towers, children can stack
- 10:21Speaker 1: the top the box on top of each other and
- 10:24Speaker 1: count how many they have in total. You can also
- 10:29Speaker 1: use the blocks that measure. They can build blocks that
- 10:35Speaker 1: are toilet in them. They can build blocks that are
- 10:39Speaker 1: shorter than them. You can give them pencils or rulers
- 10:45Speaker 1: or of the objects to see how many blocks they
- 10:51Speaker 1: need to complete. It is the same length as that,
- 10:56Speaker 1: and then they can count how many blocks they use.
- 11:05Speaker 1: Flip Uno cards to make a match. Owner cards are
- 11:10Speaker 1: perfect for number matching games, which improve memory and number recognition.
- 11:18Speaker 1: Flip the ouno cards over so your child can't see
- 11:23Speaker 1: the numbers. Then take turns picking up two cards. If
- 11:29Speaker 1: they match, you keep the set and take another turn.
- 11:34Speaker 1: The person with the most sets at the end is
- 11:38Speaker 1: the winner. Once again, like I said on last week,
- 11:44Speaker 1: there are great programs that are on the internet that
- 11:51Speaker 1: teaches math skills, but limit that kind of teaching because
- 11:59Speaker 1: kids learn best with hands on teaching. If they can
- 12:05Speaker 1: touch something, they can field something, they can smell something,
- 12:10Speaker 1: then they will remember faster than if they're just doing
- 12:18Speaker 1: rope counting. They're just spending time on the internet. So
- 12:26Speaker 1: do a lot of activities where you don't need to
- 12:30Speaker 1: go out and buy any expensive things. As a matter
- 12:34Speaker 1: of fact, when our children come in in the beginning
- 12:38Speaker 1: of the school year, we have meetings home.
- 12:42Speaker 2: Business with the parents.
- 12:44Speaker 1: And the main thing that I found and the last
- 12:48Speaker 1: when I first began teaching thirty two years ago, the
- 12:53Speaker 1: parents would say, oh, they love coloring, they love building
- 12:57Speaker 1: with their blocks, they love playing with their dolls. In
- 13:02Speaker 1: the latter years, everybody that I would ask what is
- 13:07Speaker 1: their child's favorite activity would say playing with their iPad.
- 13:16Speaker 1: And I would tell them, you know, go get some
- 13:19Speaker 1: dollar color and books.
- 13:21Speaker 2: So that they.
- 13:21Speaker 1: Can learn the color in the lines, because when you
- 13:25Speaker 1: learn how the color on the internet, you're pressing a
- 13:28Speaker 1: button and it's coloring in for you. So a lot
- 13:32Speaker 1: of the children are you leave losing that fine motor
- 13:37Speaker 1: skill of being able to color in the line. Well,
- 13:43Speaker 1: I have some more tips for you. But before I
- 13:46Speaker 1: get into the rest of the tips that I have
- 13:50Speaker 1: for you on tonight, we're gonna take a brief commercial
- 13:55Speaker 1: break and I'll be right back with you.
- 14:06Speaker 7: Got sixty seconds Take a mental health minute to learn
- 14:09Speaker 7: about depression disorders. They cause symptoms that affect how you feel,
- 14:15Speaker 7: how you think, and how you handle daily life. Depression
- 14:21Speaker 7: should be treated by health professionals. Don't try to handle
- 14:25Speaker 7: it alone or treat it with alcohol or illegal drugs.
- 14:30Speaker 7: Treatments include psychotherapy or talk therapy, medication, and sometimes brain
- 14:36Speaker 7: stimulation therapy. These treatments may also be used in combination
- 14:40Speaker 7: with one another. If you think you might have depression,
- 14:43Speaker 7: talk to a trusted friend, family member, or health care provider.
- 14:48Speaker 7: The earlier treatment begins, the more effective it is. Learn
- 14:52Speaker 7: more about depression through the NIMAH website and take sixty
- 14:56Speaker 7: seconds to share this mental health minute to help someone.
- 14:59Speaker 3: Else fact, it's me Profitice Tea.
- 15:12Speaker 1: The host of inspirational Moments with Profit is Tea, and
- 15:17Speaker 1: we are speaking about things that you can do at
- 15:21Speaker 1: home to increase your child's learning experience. But before that,
- 15:28Speaker 1: you know what, do me a favor you guys, If
- 15:32Speaker 1: you know someone who has a preschool child and that
- 15:36Speaker 1: would benefit from this information, hit like, share and comment, Like,
- 15:44Speaker 1: share and comment. If you know anyone that would benefit
- 15:50Speaker 1: from this information, share it with them. Don't keep it
- 15:54Speaker 1: to yourself, okay. Number five Tag the number. This is
- 16:01Speaker 1: a great activity to get children moving. Write individual numbers
- 16:08Speaker 1: on pieces of paper and tape them up around the room.
- 16:14Speaker 1: You can either shout out a number or roll a dive.
- 16:19Speaker 1: Then children have to run up and tap the correct number.
- 16:25Speaker 1: This game is guaranteed to create a lot of buzz,
- 16:30Speaker 1: especially in the classroom. Number six Build a city. This
- 16:40Speaker 1: simple game is a great way to develop math skills
- 16:47Speaker 1: and have fun at the same time. So you see
- 16:50Speaker 1: the key returning returning word is make sure your kids
- 16:55Speaker 1: are having fun. When it's not fun and it feels
- 16:59Speaker 1: like a and they feel like it's boring, then they
- 17:03Speaker 1: grow up thinking that math is hardened. They don't like math,
- 17:07Speaker 1: but if their first experiences with math of fun, they
- 17:12Speaker 1: tend to do better later in life. So once again,
- 17:18Speaker 1: this simple game is a great way to develop basic
- 17:23Speaker 1: math skills and have fun at the same time. Write
- 17:27Speaker 1: a single digit number a long a simple grid, and
- 17:32Speaker 1: alternative number option is using wooden or magnetic numbers, which
- 17:40Speaker 1: can be easily switched around on a magnetic or paper grid.
- 17:47Speaker 1: It looks something like this, where you would write the
- 17:50Speaker 1: numbers like, for example, three, eight, five, two, and seven,
- 17:57Speaker 1: and then you have your child identify each number and
- 18:03Speaker 1: stack the corresponding number of blocks to make the towers.
- 18:09Speaker 1: Once finished, they will have created their very own city.
- 18:18Speaker 1: Race to fill up the cup. All you need for
- 18:23Speaker 1: this game are a few platic cups and a status
- 18:28Speaker 1: of small items like beans, pennies, or paper clips. To
- 18:34Speaker 1: play Grandma Die, or just shout at a number, kids
- 18:39Speaker 1: must fill their cup with the selected number of items
- 18:45Speaker 1: as quickly as possible. The one who finishes first wins.
- 18:52Speaker 1: Another way that you can teach counting skills is playing
- 18:57Speaker 1: the game Mother may I. You may take two giant
- 19:02Speaker 1: steps Mother may I, and then they take two steps.
- 19:07Speaker 2: You may twirl.
- 19:08Speaker 1: Around three times Mother may I, and then they twirl
- 19:13Speaker 1: around three times. The first one who reaches the leader
- 19:18Speaker 1: is the winner. Hunt for Numbers. This game combines basic
- 19:26Speaker 1: math preschool math with additional sensordary element in a nutshell.
- 19:35Speaker 1: Kids have to dig around in a century bind to find.
- 19:39Speaker 2: Certain number cards.
- 19:42Speaker 1: Sensory material you can use include rice, sand, popcorn kernels,
- 19:50Speaker 1: or dry pasta. Once found, children place these cards onto
- 19:57Speaker 1: a key. This can be a simp pull as numbers
- 20:01Speaker 1: written onto pieces of cards.
- 20:06Speaker 4: Nine.
- 20:07Speaker 1: Bounce a balloon. What child doesn't enjoy playing with the balloon?
- 20:13Speaker 1: Roll a die and see if your child can bounce
- 20:18Speaker 1: a balloon in the ear that many times.
- 20:22Speaker 2: Without it touching the floor. Build a beetle with shapes.
- 20:32Speaker 1: Cut out different shapes that will create a simple beetle
- 20:36Speaker 1: when put together, For example, legs, abdomen, head, and tenor
- 20:44Speaker 1: eyds and a tail. Now allocate a number to each
- 20:49Speaker 1: body part. I either tail is five, the leg is two.
- 20:55Speaker 1: Children should roll a die and add the corresponding body
- 21:00Speaker 1: board to their beagle. The first one to finish their
- 21:05Speaker 1: beetle wins eleven. Create shapes with pipe cleaners or sticks.
- 21:15Speaker 1: This is an excellent game to improve shape recognition. Lay
- 21:21Speaker 1: out some type cleaners or craft sticks and get your
- 21:25Speaker 1: child to create different shapes with them.
- 21:29Speaker 2: You can write numbers on each.
- 21:31Speaker 1: Other's sticks to encourgat your child to think about the
- 21:35Speaker 1: type of shape they need to make. For example, three
- 21:40Speaker 1: sticks with the number three on them means they need
- 21:45Speaker 1: to create a triangle number twelve. Counch your steps. This
- 21:53Speaker 1: is a fantastic counting activity for kids to play outside.
- 22:00Speaker 1: For instance, you can ask your child how many steps
- 22:05Speaker 1: they think it would take to walk to the end
- 22:08Speaker 1: of the driveway, then ask them to act out that
- 22:13Speaker 1: guest and find the answer. As you've seen on tonight
- 22:21Speaker 1: that there are many many games and cheap alternatives just
- 22:28Speaker 1: turning on the two box and these electronic gadgets that
- 22:34Speaker 1: will not only enhance their learning experience, but it would
- 22:40Speaker 1: encourage them to move more.
- 22:43Speaker 2: We find that a lot of.
- 22:46Speaker 1: The children just want to sit inside on their electronics.
- 22:52Speaker 2: You remember when we were children.
- 22:54Speaker 1: In the summer, we would spend the whole day outside
- 23:00Speaker 1: and tell our mama's called us in and we saw
- 23:04Speaker 1: those porch lights coming on and it was time to
- 23:07Speaker 1: go in. But these children spend so much time and
- 23:11Speaker 1: side that when their parents sign them up for camps
- 23:14Speaker 1: and things like that. I remember I worked at camps
- 23:17Speaker 1: for twenty years, and during the last years it's also
- 23:23Speaker 1: was that kids didn't understand how to play the game
- 23:29Speaker 1: such as Dunk Duck, Ghules, Ring Around the Roadie, red Light.
- 23:34Speaker 2: Green Light one two three, Mother May I.
- 23:38Speaker 1: All these games the children didn't know how to play,
- 23:42Speaker 1: and they would complain so much about it being hot.
- 23:47Speaker 1: It's so hot out here. I wanted to go inside
- 23:50Speaker 1: and go on my phone. And I'm telling them, your
- 23:53Speaker 1: parents are not paying good money for you to sit
- 23:57Speaker 1: inside and play your electronics. You could have stayed at
- 24:02Speaker 1: home and did that for free. But once again, I
- 24:06Speaker 1: thank you, I thank you. I thank you for tuning
- 24:09Speaker 1: in to inspirational moments with profits Tea. And like I said,
- 24:15Speaker 1: if you like the content, you know somebody who needs
- 24:18Speaker 1: the content, that has a child that's just starting out
- 24:22Speaker 1: on their educational journey, share this episode with them, share
- 24:28Speaker 1: like in common. And like I said, for the month
- 24:32Speaker 1: of August, I will be given all school tips for
- 24:37Speaker 1: early childhood education because that's the feel that I majored in.
- 24:44Speaker 1: So that's the feel that I would like to share
- 24:48Speaker 1: with you. The things that you can do. A lot
- 24:50Speaker 1: of parents say they don't have enough time. They you know,
- 24:54Speaker 1: they're busy, they work. But a lot of activities that
- 24:58Speaker 1: you could do with your child is alongside of the
- 25:04Speaker 1: daily chores that you have to do. You don't know
- 25:08Speaker 1: how excited children are to fold up clothes and we
- 25:14Speaker 1: stuff once a week, wash our dolls and talk about
- 25:19Speaker 1: washing your body. And they used to have so much
- 25:23Speaker 1: fun washing the baby dolls and folding up the clothes
- 25:27Speaker 1: and putting them into the drawers. So things that you
- 25:31Speaker 1: think of chores, they just enjoy helping. And while they
- 25:36Speaker 1: are helping, they're also learning so many skills. So once again,
- 25:43Speaker 1: thank you, thank you, thank you, like always us and
- 25:47Speaker 1: with a prayer, and we're gonna pray for our children
- 25:51Speaker 1: that just went back to school in New York. Our
- 25:55Speaker 1: children have another money or but we're gonna pray for them,
- 26:00Speaker 1: pray over them that they have a fantastic school year.
- 26:06Speaker 1: Dear Heavenly Father and the precious Max's name of your son, Jesus.
- 26:13Speaker 1: I'll come to you, God, as humble as God know how,
- 26:17Speaker 1: asking you, God to watch over the kids. Send your
- 26:21Speaker 1: angels to protect them from use and misuse. Go open
- 26:26Speaker 1: up their understanding, their wisdom and their understanding. God, that
- 26:30Speaker 1: they may have a knowledge of the things that the
- 26:34Speaker 1: teachers are trying to teach. God touch their spirits. God
- 26:39Speaker 1: and the name of Jesus, calm them down. In the
- 26:42Speaker 1: name of Jesus, give the teachers a nurturing, empathetic spirit.
- 26:47Speaker 1: God and the name of Jesus. Now we declare the
- 26:52Speaker 1: creed that this will be the kids best year ever.
- 26:56Speaker 1: We bind up school shootings of Jesus. We bind up
- 27:02Speaker 1: gun violence, We bind up at we mind, bind.
- 27:06Speaker 2: Up the lack of food. Ah in the name.
- 27:09Speaker 1: Of Jesus, God, we asked that you watch over the
- 27:12Speaker 1: children name by name, and one by one. God, in
- 27:16Speaker 1: the name of Jesus, we thank you on tonight. We
- 27:20Speaker 1: thank you for this avenue. On tonight, God, let it
- 27:25Speaker 1: be placed in the hands of those that needed. In
- 27:29Speaker 1: the name of Jesus Or we love you, God, we
- 27:33Speaker 1: praise your holy name.
- 27:35Speaker 2: All praises be long to you.
- 27:38Speaker 1: In Jesus' name, we pray a man and a man
- 27:42Speaker 1: and a man. And once again I am Prophetess Teeth
- 27:47Speaker 1: and I will be back on the third Wednesday in August,
- 27:57Speaker 1: and we will be continuing our conversation on early childhood education.
- 28:05Speaker 1: So do me a favor, like, share, and comment. This
- 28:11Speaker 1: is property's tea, with inspirations, with inspirational moments, with profity
- 28:20Speaker 1: is tea where is our desire and our purpose to inspire,
- 28:27Speaker 1: empower and educate. Good Night, good night, good night, See
- 28:33Speaker 1: you in two weeks, God bless
- 28:39Speaker 4: Oh, where all the blue skys
