- 0:00Speaker 1: What's up everyone, and welcome to another episode of the
- 0:03Speaker 1: Epstein Chronicles. In this episode, we're going to get back
- 0:06Speaker 1: to the New Mexico interim report filed about Jeffrey Epstein
- 0:11Speaker 1: and the crimes he committed in New Mexico. Intellectual interest
- 0:16Speaker 1: and involvement in the Santa Fe Institute, Epstein had a
- 0:19Speaker 1: number of intellectual interests, which he fostered by cultivating relationships
- 0:23Speaker 1: with numerous academics and scientists, many of whom he supported financially.
- 0:29Speaker 1: One such interest included transhumanism, a modern day version of eugenics.
- 0:34Speaker 1: Transhumanism is the science of improving the human population through
- 0:38Speaker 1: technologies like genetic engineering and artificial intelligence. According to media
- 0:44Speaker 1: reporting based on Whenness interviews, Epstein hoped to see the
- 0:47Speaker 1: human race with his DNA by impregnating women on Zoro Ranch.
- 0:52Speaker 1: To date, the Commission has uncovered no evidence showing that
- 0:55Speaker 1: this scheme came to fruition. Epstein advanced his intellectual interests
- 1:00Speaker 1: by becoming a patron of various scientific causes. A biography
- 1:04Speaker 1: presented at one academic conference noted that Epstein was a
- 1:07Speaker 1: member or former member of the Trilateral Commission, the Council
- 1:11Speaker 1: on Foreign Relations, and the New York Academy of Sciences,
- 1:15Speaker 1: a former Rockefeller University board member and a former trustee
- 1:19Speaker 1: of the Institute of International Education, the board of Directors,
- 1:24Speaker 1: and the president of the Couq Foundation, Incorporated, one of
- 1:28Speaker 1: the largest scientific philanthropies funding topics such as biologically inspired
- 1:33Speaker 1: financial computing, game theory and the currency markets, the mathematics
- 1:39Speaker 1: and political impacts of esoteric financial instruments, and the personal
- 1:44Speaker 1: genomics and power. This same biography also noted that Epstein
- 1:49Speaker 1: was actively involved in the Santa Fe Institute, the Theoretical
- 1:52Speaker 1: Biology Initiative at the Institute for Advanced Study, and the
- 1:57Speaker 1: Quantum Gravity Program at the University of Pennsylvania, and also
- 2:01Speaker 1: sat on the Mind, Brain, and Behavior Advisory Committee at
- 2:05Speaker 1: Harvard University. According to its website, the Santa Fe Institute
- 2:09Speaker 1: an independent, nonprofit theoretical research institute located in Santa Fe
- 2:15Speaker 1: and dedicated to the multidisciplinary study of the fundamental principles
- 2:19Speaker 1: of complex adaptive systems, including physical, computational, biological, and social systems.
- 2:26Speaker 1: SFI's mission, as stated on its web pages, to understand
- 2:31Speaker 1: and unify the underlying shared patterns in complex physical, biological, social, cultural, technological,
- 2:37Speaker 1: and even possible astrobiological worlds. Our global research network of
- 2:43Speaker 1: scholars spans borders, departments, and disciplines, unifying curious minds steeped
- 2:49Speaker 1: in rigorous logical, mathematical, and computational reasoning. As we reveal
- 2:55Speaker 1: the unseen mechanisms and processes that shape these evolving worlds,
- 2:59Speaker 1: we see to use this understanding to promote the well
- 3:02Speaker 1: being of humankind and life on Earth. Nobel Laureate Murray Gelman,
- 3:07Speaker 1: who proposed the Quark model, founded SFI in nineteen eighty four.
- 3:11Speaker 1: In the acknowledgment section of his nineteen ninety five book
- 3:14Speaker 1: The Quark and the Jaguar, Gelman thanked Epstein for his
- 3:18Speaker 1: financial support. Epstein's interest in transhumanism, among other things, manifested
- 3:24Speaker 1: in the relationships he developed with academics and scientists affiliated
- 3:29Speaker 1: with the SFI. This included Martin Nowak, an Austrian born
- 3:33Speaker 1: professor of mathematics and biology at Harvard University known for
- 3:37Speaker 1: his work in evolutionary dynamics, focusing on evolutionary theory and
- 3:42Speaker 1: viral dynamics. Epstein and Noak regularly exchanged emails. On August tenth,
- 3:48Speaker 1: twenty thirteen, Noak emailed Epstein, and they discussed a number
- 3:52Speaker 1: of SFI scholars, including Nobel laureate Gelman and theoretical physicist
- 3:58Speaker 1: Jeffrey West. Second twenty sixteen, Noak emailed Epstein commenting on
- 4:04Speaker 1: Sidney Redner, an SFI affiliate whose research focused on non
- 4:08Speaker 1: equilibrium statistical mechanics and network structure, stating I think he
- 4:13Speaker 1: is cool for August. In another email, dated February twenty six,
- 4:18Speaker 1: twenty seventeen, Noak let Epstein know that SFI president David
- 4:23Speaker 1: Krackhauer is in Maui at present, but hopefully talking to
- 4:27Speaker 1: him later today. Epstein and Noak. We're closer than these
- 4:31Speaker 1: emails might suggest. The preface of Noak's two thousand and
- 4:34Speaker 1: six textbook Evolutionary Dynamics, exploring the equations of Life, ends
- 4:40Speaker 1: with I thank Jeffrey Epstein for many ideas and for
- 4:43Speaker 1: letting me participate in his passionate pursuit of knowledge in
- 4:47Speaker 1: all of its forms. Noak also benefited financially from his
- 4:51Speaker 1: relationship with Epstein. In two thousand and three, Epstein donated
- 4:56Speaker 1: six and a half million to Harvard to establish the
- 4:58Speaker 1: Program for Plutionary Dynamics, which was led by Noak. The
- 5:03Speaker 1: evidence further shows that this financial support allowed Epstein access
- 5:07Speaker 1: to Harvard University facilities, including a key card, passcode, and
- 5:11Speaker 1: an office. Subsequent to Epstein's conviction for solicitation of a prostitute,
- 5:18Speaker 1: Harvard conducted a review of the Epstein Noak relationship, during
- 5:22Speaker 1: which it discovered that Epstein had maintained access to personal
- 5:25Speaker 1: office in Noak's lab for nine years and used the
- 5:29Speaker 1: office over forty times, typically accompanied by young women serving
- 5:33Speaker 1: as his assistant. Harvard shut down the ped and sanctioned
- 5:37Speaker 1: Noak for his involvement with Epstein. Epstein interacted frequently with
- 5:43Speaker 1: SFI associates with whom he had close ties. In a
- 5:47Speaker 1: November tenth, twenty ten email, he was reminded of an
- 5:50Speaker 1: upcoming meeting on the Frontiers of Complexity Science. On December fourth,
- 5:55Speaker 1: twenty ten, theoretical physicist Lawrence Kraus wrote, Jeffree asked me
- 5:59Speaker 1: to find out the dates of something which is happening
- 6:02Speaker 1: at the Santa Fe Institute this month. I look forward
- 6:05Speaker 1: to hearing from you. On March fourteenth, twenty twelve, Epstein
- 6:09Speaker 1: received an email referencing the July fifteenth, sixteenth Santa Fe
- 6:13Speaker 1: Institute The Science of Cities conference I'm attending. We'd love
- 6:17Speaker 1: to see you. I think it's really hot during that
- 6:20Speaker 1: time of year. Miss you. MIT. Professor and SFI expert
- 6:25Speaker 1: on quantum information theory Seth Lloyd sent an email on
- 6:28Speaker 1: January twenty seventh, twenty seventeen, stating, Dear Jeffrey, sorry, I
- 6:33Speaker 1: was hung up all day meetings at the Santa Fe
- 6:35Speaker 1: Institute the last few days. Also realize I don't have
- 6:38Speaker 1: your phone number to call. Email correspondence also shows Epstein
- 6:43Speaker 1: sometimes hosted SFI associates at his ranch. On June twenty fifth,
- 6:48Speaker 1: twenty twelve, Leslie Groff emailed asking would you like me
- 6:52Speaker 1: to touch base with who's staying at the ranch July
- 6:55Speaker 1: fifteenth or sixteenth for the Science of the City's conference
- 6:58Speaker 1: at Santa Fe Institute. She also wrote on July twenty sixth,
- 7:02Speaker 1: twenty twelve, want to make sure y'all know Jeffrey West
- 7:06Speaker 1: is to visit Jayee on the ranch on August ninth.
- 7:09Speaker 1: Details have not been given yet. He's a professor at
- 7:12Speaker 1: the Santa Fe Institute. On August seventh, twenty twelve, scientist
- 7:17Speaker 1: and entrepreneur Adam Bly let Epstein know I'm at the
- 7:20Speaker 1: Santa Fe Institute for a couple of days. Neuroscientist al
- 7:24Speaker 1: Secl wrote Epstein on July sixteenth, two thousand and nine,
- 7:27Speaker 1: letting him know, marry gentleman just invited me, Isabelle and
- 7:31Speaker 1: Christine to celebrate his eightieth birthday at the Santa Fe
- 7:35Speaker 1: Institute in mid September. It will be three days of
- 7:39Speaker 1: celebrated talks. And al Secyl obviously was married to Glenn
- 7:43Speaker 1: Maxwell's sister, and then of course he had an unfortunate
- 7:47Speaker 1: fall off of a cliff. Would you be interested in attending?
- 7:54Speaker 1: Seckel also seems to have invited himself to Epstein's ranch. Also,
- 7:57Speaker 1: you once mentioned something about a property in the area
- 8:00Speaker 1: and us visiting. Do you have a place for us
- 8:02Speaker 1: to stay? Jeffrey West's assistant wrote an email on August tenth,
- 8:07Speaker 1: twenty twelve, referencing an upcoming visit to the ranch. I
- 8:11Speaker 1: met a mat for jeff for Jeffrey, but he mentioned
- 8:14Speaker 1: that there is a marker on the road for the
- 8:15Speaker 1: turn off to Jeffrey Epstein's ranch, and I wonder if
- 8:19Speaker 1: you could tell me what it is and also give
- 8:22Speaker 1: specific directions to the ranch. On July eleventh, twenty eleven,
- 8:27Speaker 1: leslie Groff wrote, Jeffrey West Assistant, Hello, Jeffrey. Jeffrey Epstein
- 8:31Speaker 1: is visiting the ranch and wondering if you might be
- 8:33Speaker 1: around and have some time to see him. SFI affiliated
- 8:37Speaker 1: scientists also asked for and took Epstein's money and attended
- 8:41Speaker 1: conferences reflecting Epstein's intellectual interests, sometimes organized by Epstein at
- 8:46Speaker 1: his residences. One such conference, referenced in a July tenth,
- 8:50Speaker 1: twenty ten email between Epstein and Seckel, was hosted on
- 8:54Speaker 1: Little Saint James and featured a program covering the following
- 8:57Speaker 1: topics Artificial intelligence, complexity theory, new trends in theoretical physics,
- 9:03Speaker 1: evolutionary biology, cognitive neuroscience, minimally invasive surgery, encryption and decryption,
- 9:11Speaker 1: new financial systems and methods, Emerging technologies. The email notes
- 9:17Speaker 1: that the conference is made possible by a generous grant
- 9:21Speaker 1: from the Epstein Foundation. Gellman of the Santa Fe Institute
- 9:25Speaker 1: was a confirmed attendee. In in August thirtieth, twenty fourteen email,
- 9:29Speaker 1: Epstein conveyed that the publisher of Nautilus is asking for funds.
- 9:34Speaker 1: The Commission is looking into reports that over the years
- 9:37Speaker 1: Epstein donated two hundred and seventy five thousand dollars directly
- 9:40Speaker 1: to SFI. This does not include donations made to individual
- 9:45Speaker 1: SFI affiliated scientists such as Martin Noak. Investigative Area number
- 9:50Speaker 1: five Financial Crimes and Irregularities and Recovery. This investigative area
- 9:57Speaker 1: covers Epstein's use of money to leverage access and to
- 9:59Speaker 1: silent victims and others. This investigative area also covers any
- 10:04Speaker 1: financial crime at Epstein or any of his associates committed
- 10:08Speaker 1: in New Mexico. Finally, this investigative area addresses whether remedies
- 10:13Speaker 1: for recovering the damages were available and, if so, availed
- 10:17Speaker 1: of for those victimized by Epstein. Subpoenas have been issued
- 10:21Speaker 1: to Deutsche Bank and JP Morgan. Deutsche Bank has partially
- 10:25Speaker 1: responded to the Commission subpoena and is indicated it will
- 10:28Speaker 1: produce on a rolling basis bank records responsive to the
- 10:32Speaker 1: subpoena to the same extent, bank records have been provided
- 10:35Speaker 1: in response to prior investigations. Deutsche Bank has indicated the
- 10:40Speaker 1: volume of these materials at approximately sixty thousand pages. The
- 10:44Speaker 1: promised records have been partially made available and are pending
- 10:49Speaker 1: retention of a financial analyst. JP Morgan has failed to
- 10:53Speaker 1: respond to the Commission subpoena. JP Morgan is investigating whether
- 10:57Speaker 1: the subpoena may have been misdirected. Past investigations have established
- 11:02Speaker 1: that entities involved in management and operation of Zoro Ranch
- 11:06Speaker 1: engaged in financial transactions that subject them to frequent scrutiny.
- 11:10Speaker 1: For instance, Deutsche Bank flagged multiple compliance deficiencies requiring remediation
- 11:16Speaker 1: under the know Yer Customer Review process. Also, a JP
- 11:20Speaker 1: Morgan compliance note for the Zoro related entity states, please
- 11:24Speaker 1: tag the UBO Ultimate Beneficial Owner as a PEP politically
- 11:29Speaker 1: exposed person due to his close relationship with Bill Clinton
- 11:32Speaker 1: and name redacted. This PEP designation tagging Epstein because of
- 11:37Speaker 1: his political connections, triggered enhanced due diligence requirements that JP
- 11:41Speaker 1: Morgan compliance officers documented, but that did not result in
- 11:45Speaker 1: account closure until years later. In addition, TD Bank made
- 11:49Speaker 1: a filing with Finsen under the Bank Secrecy Act flagging
- 11:53Speaker 1: aggregate transactions of fourteen point sixty six million between Epstein
- 11:57Speaker 1: related accounts and hb Are Associates Incorporated. Because bank and
- 12:03Speaker 1: other records have not been fully produced and are appending
- 12:05Speaker 1: detailed inspection and analysis the Commission at the time. At
- 12:10Speaker 1: this time defers reporting on whether Epstein and others engaged
- 12:14Speaker 1: in financial irregularities in New Mexico. Observations and continuing investigation
- 12:21Speaker 1: review of the available evidence, including records produced in response
- 12:25Speaker 1: to the Commission subpoenas, is incomplete, and ongoing findings and
- 12:29Speaker 1: recommendations will be deferred until issuance of the final investigation report.
- 12:35Speaker 1: If there are survivors who have yet to come forward
- 12:37Speaker 1: or to be found, the Commission welcomes their reports and
- 12:40Speaker 1: will do its utmost to find them. If there are
- 12:43Speaker 1: perpetrators yet to identify, the Commission will do its utmost
- 12:46Speaker 1: to find them. Observations. Given the record as it currently stands,
- 12:52Speaker 1: it's possible and appropriate to make some obvious observations about
- 12:56Speaker 1: the record, even while the investigation contemplates further actual refinement
- 13:01Speaker 1: and revelation. First, Epstein maintained power and influence despite his
- 13:05Speaker 1: sex offender status. The two thousand federal non prosecution Agreement
- 13:09Speaker 1: allowed Epstein to continue his life largely uninterrupted until twenty nineteen,
- 13:14Speaker 1: when he was picked up by federal authorities. He was
- 13:18Speaker 1: first imprisoned in two thousand and eight two thousand and nine,
- 13:21Speaker 1: and even when he was released from a Florida jail
- 13:23Speaker 1: on work release for up to twelve hours a day
- 13:26Speaker 1: until he was arrested in July two thousand nineteen by
- 13:29Speaker 1: federal prosecutors in New York and indicted in Manhattan Federal
- 13:33Speaker 1: Court on two counts, sex trafficking conspiracy Count one and
- 13:37Speaker 1: sex trafficking of miners count two. He was able to
- 13:40Speaker 1: abuse in New Mexico when he was ultimately charged. He
- 13:44Speaker 1: was accused of sexually exploiting and abusing dozens of underage
- 13:48Speaker 1: girls as young as fourteen at his homes in Manhattan
- 13:51Speaker 1: and Palm Beach between two thousand and two and two
- 13:54Speaker 1: thousand and five, with no charges related directly to New Mexico.
- 13:59Speaker 1: Since his conviction for solicitation of prostitution from a minor
- 14:02Speaker 1: in two thousand and eight, reports of Epstein's systematic abuse
- 14:06Speaker 1: of women and girls was publicly known. Nonetheless, persons of
- 14:10Speaker 1: the highest rank still took from Epstein's wealth and continued
- 14:14Speaker 1: to vie for inclusion in his circle of friends. Government officials,
- 14:18Speaker 1: law enforcement, university professors, scientists, lawyers, celebrities, and other persons
- 14:24Speaker 1: with power and wealth continue to have relationships with Epstein
- 14:29Speaker 1: and those within his operation. A second observation is that
- 14:33Speaker 1: Epstein operated his systematic sex abuse operation in plain sight,
- 14:37Speaker 1: making little effort to hide the evidence and indica of
- 14:40Speaker 1: his criminal enterprise. Many of those invited to Epstein's circle
- 14:44Speaker 1: would have seen the endless stream of young women and
- 14:47Speaker 1: miners who were present on his aircraft and on his ranch.
- 14:51Speaker 1: A third and final observation is that those in law
- 14:53Speaker 1: enforcement most responsible for protecting New Mexicans from Epstein played
- 14:58Speaker 1: a passive role in instigating them, letting others in Miami
- 15:02Speaker 1: and New York do it. As a result, the conduct
- 15:05Speaker 1: of Epstein and his co conspirators in New Mexico went
- 15:08Speaker 1: unexamined and unpunished. Ongoing investigation, the Commission will continue its
- 15:14Speaker 1: review and assimilation of records obtained by subpoena and other sources,
- 15:18Speaker 1: will issue follow up subpoenas and process and will continue
- 15:22Speaker 1: to interview witnesses, including those with personal knowledge of activity
- 15:26Speaker 1: at Zoro Ranch. Governmental and law enforcement authorities with a
- 15:30Speaker 1: responsibility to monitor and investigate Epstein and his co conspirators
- 15:34Speaker 1: and other actors as identified in this interim report. Going forward,
- 15:39Speaker 1: the Commission endeavors to uncover the truth so many for
- 15:42Speaker 1: too long were blind to. All Right, folks, well that's
- 15:46Speaker 1: going to do it for the New Mexico Interim report
- 15:49Speaker 1: on Jeffrey Epstein. And when the next part comes out,
- 15:52Speaker 1: we'll get that bad Boy added to the catalog as well.
- 15:57Speaker 1: All the information that goes with this episode can be
- 16:00Speaker 1: found in the description box.
