- 1:35Speaker 2: I'll tell you about three or so this morning, I
- 1:38Speaker 2: thought I thought my house was about ready to just
- 1:41Speaker 2: be lifted off of its foundation. It takes a lot
- 1:44Speaker 2: to wake me up, and it takes even more to
- 1:47Speaker 2: keep me awake. And then another big downpour about the
- 1:50Speaker 2: time I hit town about seven o'clock or so this morning. Now,
- 1:54Speaker 2: those storms are going to continue off and on pretty much,
- 1:57Speaker 2: not only throughout the day, but throughout the week. We're
- 1:59Speaker 2: going to have some breaks. But according to media rilogist
- 2:02Speaker 2: Brian Hughes, when you may drag him in here a
- 2:04Speaker 2: little bit later on to tell us what is going on.
- 2:07Speaker 2: I do love Brian's description. No hot, depressive and active
- 2:10Speaker 2: is how he called the temperatures today with the AID

- 2:15Speaker 2: so there are high water issues out there, folks, the
- 2:17Speaker 2: normal low lying areas.
- 2:18Speaker 3: As they say, so you know where they are. Use caution.

- 2:37Speaker 2: I want to welcome into the show now the president
- 2:39Speaker 2: and CEO of Guarantee Banks several locations, and for the
- 2:41Speaker 2: past few months they've been up and running here in Charleston,
- 2:45Speaker 2: kind of a soft opening type thing since April, I think,
- 2:47Speaker 2: and today they're having their official grand opening with the
- 2:49Speaker 2: ribbon cutting set for one o'clock this afternoon. Josh Snowers,
- 2:52Speaker 2: President Ceoni, joins us this morning in the Jeric Construction Studios.
- 2:56Speaker 3: Good morning, sir, Welcome to the show. Morning Dave.
- 2:57Speaker 2: Appreciate Tom, thank you for being there. So how's the
- 2:59Speaker 2: for a few months man? In your soft opening? I
- 3:02Speaker 2: guess it's.
- 3:02Speaker 3: Been great, Dave.
- 3:03Speaker 5: You know we've we've been uh just welcomed with open
- 3:06Speaker 5: arms by the city of Charleston. People have been coming
- 3:08Speaker 5: in every day. Uh, we've been serving the the the
- 3:11Speaker 5: people of Charleston. Building those relationships has been our goal
- 3:14Speaker 5: since day one. And uh, let you as you said,
- 3:16Speaker 5: you know, we had a soft opening in April and uh,
- 3:19Speaker 5: you know, make sure that everything's uh you know, kicking
- 3:22Speaker 5: on all cylinders and we're ready to have a grand
- 3:24Speaker 5: opening to day and and get off, get off to
- 3:26Speaker 5: the races.
- 3:26Speaker 6: Now.
- 3:27Speaker 2: That grand opening is gonna be at one o'clock today.
- 3:28Speaker 2: The public is invited to a ton but you can't
- 3:30Speaker 2: make it at one o'clock. You can come in any
- 3:32Speaker 2: time and take it, take a look at the facility.
- 3:33Speaker 2: Rate absolutely, you know, the ribbon cuttings at one o'clock.
- 3:37Speaker 2: You know it's the formal formal grand opening, but uh,
- 3:39Speaker 2: you know we've got lobby hours Monday through Friday. You know,
- 3:43Speaker 2: drive through is is will be open and people can
- 3:45Speaker 2: come in anytime, and uh, you know, I'm.
- 3:48Speaker 5: There most days. We have branches down to Mego County
- 3:50Speaker 5: as well. I do spend some time with ever that
- 3:52Speaker 5: I'm there most days, come in ask for me. I'll
- 3:54Speaker 5: sit down and talk to you and listen to your
- 3:56Speaker 5: story and uh, hopefully we can.
- 3:57Speaker 3: Help you out.
- 3:58Speaker 2: Now, there are banks everywhere throughout the Kanal value. What
- 4:01Speaker 2: makes Guarantee Bank different?
- 4:02Speaker 5: Look, I think you know, when we decided to come
- 4:05Speaker 5: to Charleston, I mean there was there was multiple reasons
- 4:07Speaker 5: behind that. I mean, other than it just being the
- 4:10Speaker 5: economic and governmental center of West Virginia. But we think
- 4:12Speaker 5: it's a market that a that a community bank can
- 4:14Speaker 5: really you play a role. And and I think from
- 4:17Speaker 5: a community bank standpoint, what we offer is not just
- 4:21Speaker 5: the modernization and the growth, but also those values of
- 4:24Speaker 5: community bank that doesn't that that sometimes gets lost with that,
- 4:27Speaker 5: those personal relationships, the accessibility, the responsiveness, the the local
- 4:32Speaker 5: decision making. And I think that I think West Virginians
- 4:35Speaker 5: and and you know, everyone in Kanawha County and Charleston
- 4:38Speaker 5: you still want so I think that's what sets us apart.
- 4:41Speaker 5: And hopefully we can uh uh you know, we can
- 4:44Speaker 5: build value for for the businesses and individuals and uh
- 4:48Speaker 5: nonprofits in anybody that needs it needs those financial services.
- 4:51Speaker 2: Now, you mentioned the word community bank about ten times
- 4:54Speaker 2: UH and that it's very important to you.
- 4:56Speaker 3: Get it out a little bit. It is Guarantee Bank.
- 4:59Speaker 5: At our core is a West Virginia community bank, you know,
- 5:02Speaker 5: found in nineteen seventy six, served southern West Virginia. Since then,
- 5:07Speaker 5: we've been blessed to be successful enough to invest in
- 5:10Speaker 5: other markets in the last year, but we are at
- 5:13Speaker 5: our core community bank, and we we want to be
- 5:15Speaker 5: able to again differentiate with with with with some of
- 5:19Speaker 5: the other with with some of the other banks that
- 5:22Speaker 5: that are out there, that you can grow and you
- 5:24Speaker 5: can modernize and you can offer some of those services
- 5:27Speaker 5: that they expect from larger institutions, but not lose that
- 5:30Speaker 5: community feel and that and that really is what we're
- 5:33Speaker 5: proud of. That is our mission, uh and that's what
- 5:35Speaker 5: we're here to do. Talk about the different services that
- 5:37Speaker 5: you offer.
- 5:38Speaker 7: Uh.
- 5:38Speaker 5: Look, we we offer uh you know, we offer consumer loans, UH,
- 5:42Speaker 5: commercial loans, whether that's commercial real estate, whether that's equipment
- 5:46Speaker 5: for for for for small businesses, whether that's uh, you know,
- 5:49Speaker 5: mortgages for individuals.
- 5:51Speaker 6: UH.
- 5:51Speaker 5: We offer installment loans, auto loans, uh CDs iras you know,
- 5:55Speaker 5: you know, the whole gamut of financial services that you
- 5:57Speaker 5: might think of when you walk into to any bank,
- 5:59Speaker 5: whether it's a community bank or one of the larger institutions.
- 6:02Speaker 5: We offer those products and those services, and uh, we
- 6:05Speaker 5: believe that we're competitive just just about with anybody else.
- 6:08Speaker 2: And you know, getting back to the community bank aspect
- 6:10Speaker 2: of it, again, banking ain't what it was this time,
- 6:14Speaker 2: let's say fifteen or twenty years ago, let alone thirty
- 6:18Speaker 2: or forty years ago.
- 6:19Speaker 3: This changed so much.
- 6:19Speaker 2: How do you how do you walk that line between
- 6:23Speaker 2: doing the community service of the community banking that that
- 6:26Speaker 2: you're that you're trying to do it, but also keeping
- 6:28Speaker 2: up with all the modern technologies of banking.
- 6:30Speaker 5: These days, right, And I think you're you're you're right
- 6:32Speaker 5: at the core of what we are striving to do.
- 6:34Speaker 5: You know, we we understand the needs uh and and
- 6:37Speaker 5: and how the market changes with with the technologies. We
- 6:41Speaker 5: have a full online banking platform like you would see
- 6:43Speaker 5: on any any bank, you know, with you know, a
- 6:46Speaker 5: ten billion dollar bank, we have you know, that online
- 6:49Speaker 5: capability you can do you know your your your deposits
- 6:52Speaker 5: on your phone online. You know we have that capability,
- 6:55Speaker 5: but we want to make sure that as we grow
- 6:57Speaker 5: and as we modernize and offer this vers is that
- 7:00Speaker 5: people come to expect that we don't lose those those
- 7:04Speaker 5: personal relationships that you know that you have that accessibility.
- 7:07Speaker 5: You can pick up the phone uh and call Guarantee
- 7:10Speaker 5: Bank and you're going to talk to somebody that that
- 7:11Speaker 5: more than likely if you call the Charleston Brands lives
- 7:14Speaker 5: in Charleston, I can get you an answer. You're not
- 7:16Speaker 5: going to go through a whole uh. You know, you bureaucratic, uh,
- 7:19Speaker 5: you know silo like a lot of people get caught in.
- 7:22Speaker 5: You're going to talk to a real person. You're going
- 7:23Speaker 5: to talk to somebody you know from Charleston that can
- 7:26Speaker 5: more than likely make a decision on what you might
- 7:28Speaker 5: be looking for.
- 7:29Speaker 2: And I love the idea of talking to actual people
- 7:31Speaker 2: from around here. So if you know, we can be
- 7:34Speaker 2: somewhat folksy in West Virginia some time and if you
- 7:36Speaker 2: call up the bank and you say, look, thinking about
- 7:38Speaker 2: buying this piece of property over insistent Ville and so and.
- 7:42Speaker 3: So, and they'll say, oh, yeah, that's that was uh
- 7:44Speaker 3: it was Johnny's.
- 7:45Speaker 5: Market or something back in the day or something like that, right,
- 7:47Speaker 5: And I think I said it when I was on
- 7:49Speaker 5: here before, and I've said it.
- 7:50Speaker 3: I've said it multiple times.
- 7:52Speaker 5: You know, if if if you walk in a bank
- 7:53Speaker 5: and your banker doesn't know your mom's you have made
- 7:56Speaker 5: a name, and where your land lays, then you're just
- 7:59Speaker 5: borrowed money from a strange and and we want to
- 8:03Speaker 5: to bring that community feel uh, you know, to keep
- 8:06Speaker 5: that community feel uh with with with banking because we
- 8:09Speaker 5: believe truly that you know, fundamentally, banking is still a
- 8:13Speaker 5: relationship business. And and we think that most people want
- 8:16Speaker 5: that relationship uh when when when they're when they're talking,
- 8:20Speaker 5: particularly small business owners, you know that they want to
- 8:22Speaker 5: know who's making the decisions about about their business and
- 8:24Speaker 5: and and we think we can offer that and and
- 8:27Speaker 5: and hopefully we get.
- 8:27Speaker 2: The chance to talking to Josh Towers again, who's the
- 8:29Speaker 2: president and CEO of Guaranteed Bank. Dave Island show and
- 8:33Speaker 2: find Vidieline Brown to inmparted by Pinnacle Consultants. When environmental
- 8:36Speaker 2: questions come up into building, Pinnacle provides clear answers.

- 8:45Speaker 2: at Pinnacle Corp dot net. Helping you understand your environment
- 8:47Speaker 2: because what you don't know can't hurt you. Talk about
- 8:50Speaker 2: your other locations that you have so as a.
- 8:52Speaker 5: Mension before you know, we you know, we were founded
- 8:56Speaker 5: in nineteen seventy six in Mingo County. We have three
- 8:59Speaker 5: branches in Minga County, uh in Williamson and del Barton
- 9:02Speaker 5: and Gilbert, still very thriving branches in Mingo County serving
- 9:06Speaker 5: southern West Virginia. But as I mentioned, we've been blessed
- 9:08Speaker 5: with success and have invested in other markets in the
- 9:11Speaker 5: last year.
- 9:12Speaker 6: Uh.
- 9:12Speaker 5: Not only are we opening up uh you know the
- 9:14Speaker 5: branch you know, having the grand opening here in Charleston
- 9:17Speaker 5: today and you know had the soft olden in April,
- 9:19Speaker 5: but we opened up branch in Wayne right across from
- 9:23Speaker 5: the County Courthouse in the town of Wayne last last
- 9:26Speaker 5: summer in July, again serving serving markets that we feel
- 9:30Speaker 5: are underserved where you've had a lot of banks that
- 9:33Speaker 5: have that have either merged or or left and and
- 9:36Speaker 5: just continue to try to serve uh, you know, the
- 9:39Speaker 5: people of West Virginia and give them options. But we uh,
- 9:42Speaker 5: you know, we've we've we've been thriving in those new
- 9:45Speaker 5: locations and uh, you know, the sky's limit.
- 9:47Speaker 2: I want to talk about the actual building here in
- 9:49Speaker 2: Charleston thirteen T when you can all bulevards.
- 9:51Speaker 3: There's quite a history with that building.
- 9:53Speaker 2: It is, it's it's served me most recently. I guess
- 9:55Speaker 2: it was the American Federation for Teachers. Yes, building, but
- 9:58Speaker 2: it's I mean, it's a beautiful building right there on
- 10:01Speaker 2: the boulevard.
- 10:01Speaker 5: And it's primarily as you mentioned it was, it was
- 10:04Speaker 5: primarily occupied you know, previously by the uh American Federation Teachers.
- 10:08Speaker 5: But prior to that, it's been multiple different uh you know,
- 10:11Speaker 5: financial institutions over the years.
- 10:14Speaker 3: It has, uh it's eye catching right there on the boulevard.
- 10:17Speaker 5: And again, you know, we are our strategic plan was
- 10:19Speaker 5: to be located in Charleston, you know, sooner rather than later.
- 10:22Speaker 5: But that building uh uh coming available it really uh
- 10:28Speaker 5: you really forced us to accelerate those plans because it's
- 10:30Speaker 5: just in a prime location right there on the boulevard.
- 10:32Speaker 5: You know, great ingress, egress, great visibility, beautiful, you have
- 10:37Speaker 5: plenty of room to grow inside. And so we are
- 10:40Speaker 5: we are really we are really tickled to be there.
- 10:41Speaker 3: Well, and it's a great I think.
- 10:43Speaker 2: I don't know what your plans are from it, but
- 10:45Speaker 2: I talked to the people, some other people in the
- 10:47Speaker 2: company and they said said that they're they can envision
- 10:49Speaker 2: maybe because it's got so many rooms in it, maybe
- 10:51Speaker 2: doing community service type things and they're maybe having meetings
- 10:54Speaker 2: or something and everything.
- 10:55Speaker 5: Sure, I mean, we we have we have plenty of space.
- 10:57Speaker 5: We have you know, it's essentially a really two buildings.
- 11:01Speaker 5: You have the original structure that you have an addition
- 11:03Speaker 5: onto it and and it.
- 11:05Speaker 3: Like I said, plenty of room to grow.
- 11:07Speaker 7: Uh.
- 11:07Speaker 5: We we we want to host uh at the community events.
- 11:11Speaker 5: We want to offer it to too, folks that want
- 11:13Speaker 5: to come in and like you said, have uh you know,
- 11:15Speaker 5: have meetings, sit down, possibly offer them financial services. But
- 11:19Speaker 5: you know, we are looking to possibly sub lease some
- 11:21Speaker 5: of it out until we you know, grow into it.
- 11:24Speaker 5: So we're uh, but you know, we're in it for
- 11:26Speaker 5: the long haul and and uh the building is a
- 11:27Speaker 5: great place for us to be and to grow into.
- 11:30Speaker 2: So the grand opening celebration, can you guys opened in
- 11:33Speaker 2: April we'll have a soft opening, but you have the
- 11:36Speaker 2: grand opening celebration. I wish the weather was a little
- 11:38Speaker 2: bit better, but maybe maybe you'll get a little bit
- 11:40Speaker 2: Maybe Brian Hughes to work with us and we'll get
- 11:41Speaker 2: a little bit of a break here.
- 11:43Speaker 3: Yeah, I think I think we've got a little gap
- 11:45Speaker 3: in the weather.
- 11:45Speaker 5: I think I think we're going to be fine until
- 11:47Speaker 5: later this afternoon, so we should be able to get
- 11:49Speaker 5: to the grand opening and and hopefully, uh you know,
- 11:51Speaker 5: at least be able to do the ribbon cutting outsides.
- 11:53Speaker 2: Yeah, that's the plan anyway. And I know you have
- 11:55Speaker 2: officials there and so on and so forth. You got
- 11:57Speaker 2: refreshments so everybody.
- 11:58Speaker 5: Become plenty of food and the fish months. So anybody
- 12:01Speaker 5: can come on down. Welcome, come down. And I'm on
- 12:02Speaker 5: the air at that time. So if you want to,
- 12:04Speaker 5: you know, have a have one of your people send
- 12:05Speaker 5: me a play of food. We're not that far away.
- 12:07Speaker 5: We can do we can do a Guarantee delivery. So
- 12:10Speaker 5: you got a guy named Tommy, put him to work.
- 12:12Speaker 5: We will absolutely something, absolutely all right.
- 12:14Speaker 2: Josh Stowers, President's CEO of Guarantee Bank thirteen to twenty
- 12:17Speaker 2: can a boulevard east here and Charleston building looks great.
- 12:20Speaker 2: It's going to be a great day for your grand
- 12:21Speaker 2: opening once we get the rain behind us, at least
- 12:23Speaker 2: for a little while. We're just trying to hit that
- 12:24Speaker 2: sweet spot in the window where you can do it outside.
- 12:27Speaker 3: If not, we'll move it inside. That's right, well, we
- 12:29Speaker 3: will adapt, all right. Appreciate you being here, thanks to
- 12:32Speaker 3: appreciate your break, and we'll come back right after this.

- 15:33Speaker 14: It's an adventure you don't want to miss. Welcome back
- 15:46Speaker 14: to the show. Today Island Show and five adline brought
- 15:48Speaker 14: to you fire by the all New Generations Ford of
- 15:50Speaker 14: Hurricane Visit Generations for dot com. We got our schedules
- 15:53Speaker 14: a little bit crossed here.
- 15:54Speaker 2: We had intended on talking to our good friend Amanda
- 15:58Speaker 2: from the Kennal Tarst new Manassociation with the not.
- 16:01Speaker 3: Associated with the Adopt Me. Please put her of the week.
- 16:03Speaker 2: I already think it's Friday, but no, it's not that
- 16:07Speaker 2: it is their Kegs for Canine event and It's going
- 16:10Speaker 2: to be held at the Red Carpet Lounge coming up
- 16:12Speaker 2: on August twenty ninth, And for some reason, we had
- 16:15Speaker 2: it down that she was coming in today and that's
- 16:16Speaker 2: my fault.
- 16:17Speaker 3: Possibly.
- 16:18Speaker 2: If not, then I'll blame Ashley upstairs for it, but
- 16:20Speaker 2: I do I think it may have been my fault.
- 16:22Speaker 2: But I will let you know that the annual Kegs
- 16:25Speaker 2: for Canine event benefit of the Canal Charleston Newman Association
- 16:28Speaker 2: is going to be held August to twenty ninth at
- 16:30Speaker 2: the Red Carpet Lounge on Elizabeth Street in Charleston. Now,
- 16:34Speaker 2: Amanda Pollard, who I was talking about earlier, is the
- 16:37Speaker 2: director of Development for the Canal charalst Neumane Association, and
- 16:39Speaker 2: we will work to get her back on the show
- 16:41Speaker 2: to talk about this. This is one of the premiere
- 16:44Speaker 2: events and it's really really fantastic too. I mean, it's
- 16:48Speaker 2: a lot of fun. I've been the last couple of years.
- 16:50Speaker 2: Steve Animal and myself from ninety eight seven a month
- 16:53Speaker 2: and Wild, a wonderful classic rocker, are always there every year.
- 16:57Speaker 2: And I love their slogan because their slogan is cold beer,
- 17:01Speaker 2: good vibes and dogs everywhere. What more could you need,
- 17:05Speaker 2: And that's pretty much what it is. And I was
- 17:08Speaker 2: checking the schedule earlier. That's when college football is going
- 17:11Speaker 2: to start getting ramped up. Not not so much for Marshall
- 17:13Speaker 2: and WVU, but there are several big college football games
- 17:16Speaker 2: on that day.
- 17:16Speaker 3: So because of the.
- 17:17Speaker 2: Red Carpet Lounge, they are going to have the screen,
- 17:21Speaker 2: big screen's going with lots of college football on it
- 17:24Speaker 2: as well, So you can check that out. And by
- 17:26Speaker 2: the way, I'll just say, if you've never been to
- 17:28Speaker 2: the Red Carpet in Charleston, then shame on you, because
- 17:32Speaker 2: it's one of the coolest places in Charleston. It's iconic
- 17:36Speaker 2: in fact, and of course you know all of the
- 17:38Speaker 2: stories about all the capital deals that have gotten done
- 17:40Speaker 2: at the Red Carpet and the whole motto what happens
- 17:44Speaker 2: at the Carpet stays at the carpet, and it's kind
- 17:46Speaker 2: of a you know, it's kind of a safe spot
- 17:50Speaker 2: if you will. You know that people can exchange ideas
- 17:53Speaker 2: off the record. A lot of reporters and whatnot have
- 17:55Speaker 2: hung out there over the years. And of course they
- 17:57Speaker 2: got the tiki bar outside as well. In the way
- 18:00Speaker 2: that they do this, they have what they call the
- 18:03Speaker 2: Cara Van and that's c A R E. A dash
- 18:07Speaker 2: van with all of these animals that are up for adoption.
- 18:11Speaker 2: And I can tell you a couple of years ago,
- 18:14Speaker 2: there's a guy that I happened to know here in Charleston.
- 18:17Speaker 3: That showed up at the event.
- 18:19Speaker 2: Didn't know he was showing up to get a dog,
- 18:22Speaker 2: and it just so happened that, yeah, he got a dog,
- 18:25Speaker 2: and he still has the dog with him today. He
- 18:27Speaker 2: adopted it that particular day. Because they have them there,
- 18:30Speaker 2: they're in the air conditioned trailer, you can get them out,
- 18:33Speaker 2: you can walk them, and so on and so forth,
- 18:35Speaker 2: and it's just a great, great event, especially if you
- 18:38Speaker 2: like animals. For the Charleston Humane Association. Now you can
- 18:41Speaker 2: go online and get your tickets at adopt Charleston dot com.
- 18:46Speaker 2: That's the official website for the Kanaal Charleston Humane Association.
- 18:50Speaker 2: You can also check it out on social media as well.
- 18:53Speaker 2: And again I apologize, we got a wires crossed some
- 18:55Speaker 2: way or another.
- 18:56Speaker 3: I thought the.
- 18:56Speaker 2: Interview was today, but I guess it is not. With
- 18:58Speaker 2: Amanda will have her back on the shows, we get
- 19:00Speaker 2: a little bit closer. But I hope everybody can join
- 19:03Speaker 2: us there. It's going to be August to twenty ninth
- 19:05Speaker 2: at the annual Kegs for Canines event, and there's just
- 19:08Speaker 2: a lot of really cool stuff that goes on there,
- 19:11Speaker 2: so I really hope that you can join us there
- 19:14Speaker 2: for that big event. We've been keeping a close eye
- 19:17Speaker 2: on the weather and I want to bring in Metro
- 19:19Speaker 2: News meteorologist Brian Hughes right now because Brian, it's been
- 19:24Speaker 2: a little bit wicked. I told the listeners earlier this morning.
- 19:27Speaker 2: I started, I guess it woke me up about three
- 19:30Speaker 2: am this morning, and my wife will tell you it
- 19:32Speaker 2: takes a lot to wake me up, and it takes
- 19:34Speaker 2: even more to keep me from going back to sleep,
- 19:37Speaker 2: which I didn't sleep a whole lot. Between about three
- 19:40Speaker 2: and four point thirty in this morning, I just decided, well,
- 19:42Speaker 2: I'm just gonna go ahead and get up, jump in
- 19:43Speaker 2: the car, and I just missed all the heavy rain
- 19:45Speaker 2: because by the time I hit Charleston about seven this morning,
- 19:48Speaker 2: it was just raining buckets.
- 19:49Speaker 3: I know, we had traffic issues and so.
- 19:51Speaker 2: On and so forth with Rex and so what can
- 19:54Speaker 2: you tell us what's the latest?
- 19:55Speaker 4: Well, we do have a flashball morning to the Celin
- 19:56Speaker 4: effect because a lot of this water is still washing
- 19:59Speaker 4: out out of the re and right now, the thing
- 20:01Speaker 4: that we're looking at at the moment is, you know,
- 20:04Speaker 4: we've got a severe teniscial watch that's been issued well
- 20:07Speaker 4: to our northwest and this includes parts of Carter Boyd
- 20:09Speaker 4: Counties in Kentucky and you get into the sections of
- 20:12Speaker 4: Lawrence County, Ohio and back to the northwest. But that
- 20:16Speaker 4: is setting up the stage for what's going to be
- 20:18Speaker 4: hearing later on today. Is we get close to the midday,
- 20:20Speaker 4: we're gonna have more showers and storms that are gonna
- 20:22Speaker 4: be moving through. There'll be that round for the midday
- 20:24Speaker 4: early afternoon, and we've got another round that'll be the
- 20:27Speaker 4: seeding into the night time hours. Here's what's happening. You've
- 20:30Speaker 4: seen the rain. It's been going over the exact same
- 20:32Speaker 4: area over and over and over again. We've got you know,
- 20:35Speaker 4: the heavy the heavy rainfall, plus some of the wicked
- 20:39Speaker 4: winds we had yesterday. We had a tornado warning cross
- 20:41Speaker 4: parts of the Pomeroy area. Moving off to the southeast
- 20:44Speaker 4: saw some of that that it was there was straight
- 20:47Speaker 4: up funnel cloud that was working in its way across
- 20:49Speaker 4: parts of southern Ohio. So you know, you've got so
- 20:51Speaker 4: many hazards from the the tornado throat is very very low,
- 20:54Speaker 4: but still one of those can happen if they're all
- 20:56Speaker 4: by themselves. But we're just gonna see these storms over
- 20:59Speaker 4: and over again.
- 21:00Speaker 9: Matter of fact.
- 21:00Speaker 3: That a matter of fact.
- 21:01Speaker 4: Right now, it's still raining out at Southbridge, it's raining
- 21:04Speaker 4: in southern Knaal County and Lincoln County back into Putnam County.
- 21:08Speaker 4: So it's it's just not going to essentially stop for
- 21:10Speaker 4: a number of days. When we do get the reprieval,
- 21:12Speaker 4: it's going to be Saturday in the Sunday, but even in.
- 21:14Speaker 9: A spotty shower chance as possible.
- 21:15Speaker 4: So just if you live anywhere near creeks, uh creeks
- 21:20Speaker 4: or streams, just know that you have got to keep
- 21:23Speaker 4: an eye on things.
- 21:24Speaker 9: Because those things are gonna come up pretty fast.
- 21:26Speaker 4: We had that happen this morning with some of that
- 21:28Speaker 4: very heavy rainfall, and then as we go into the
- 21:30Speaker 4: rest of the rest of the week, it's not gonna stop.
- 21:33Speaker 4: So uh, this is uh, this is a day you know,
- 21:36Speaker 4: uh tonight into this evening tonight because actually I'll say this,
- 21:40Speaker 4: I'm on the Charleston radar.
- 21:42Speaker 9: This is very very rare.
- 21:44Speaker 4: On the Charleston radar, we're picking up we're picking up
- 21:47Speaker 4: rain showers all the way back up to uh north
- 21:49Speaker 4: of Toledo.
- 21:50Speaker 9: That's very very rare, very very rare.
- 21:52Speaker 3: Is that far.
- 21:53Speaker 4: Yeah, it's they're they're that tall, that they're that big.
- 21:57Speaker 4: So we've got thunderstorms we have to watch. That's gonna
- 21:59Speaker 4: be a lone line of storms, just so you know
- 22:01Speaker 4: as we go into this afternoon. So we've got to
- 22:03Speaker 4: keep our eyes on that because as I've said, I've
- 22:06Speaker 4: said over the last couple of days, we're in a
- 22:08Speaker 4: Duracho style pattern. I don't use that word lightly at all.
- 22:11Speaker 4: It's a style pattern. It's not doesn't mean that there's
- 22:14Speaker 4: a du ratio. It doesn't mean there's one, but it's
- 22:17Speaker 4: the type of pattern that could produce one if you've
- 22:19Speaker 4: got the if you've got one setting up way far
- 22:21Speaker 4: to the northwest, and we've got one of those, it's
- 22:22Speaker 4: up around Daton. Right now, we've got a line of storms.
- 22:25Speaker 4: There are sereal thudstial mornings all along it. And right now,
- 22:29Speaker 4: even if a look at those, they're looking at you know,
- 22:32Speaker 4: the wind speeds that are associated with some of those
- 22:34Speaker 4: storms right now are eighty miles per hour. That's a
- 22:37Speaker 4: pretty good storm right there. Apround Springfield, Ohio, they've got
- 22:41Speaker 4: windsor in excess of sixty.
- 22:42Speaker 9: Miles per hour.
- 22:43Speaker 4: So those are things we're watching. You know, it's going
- 22:46Speaker 4: to be just a while week in the weather department.
- 22:48Speaker 2: Well, and I saw some pictures a lot of people
- 22:49Speaker 2: were posting last night about the hail that hit Mason County.
- 22:52Speaker 2: I think the Mason County Fair is going on.
- 22:54Speaker 9: Yeah, they did have it out there.
- 22:56Speaker 3: I saw some people were posting some pictures.
- 22:57Speaker 4: Yeah, I think that golf ball size hell there last
- 23:00Speaker 4: night and h and that was the one that was
- 23:02Speaker 4: producing the potential tornado off to the north and west.
- 23:05Speaker 4: And I saw some video on that this morning. So
- 23:08Speaker 4: there's it's there's a lot of things happening, you know.
- 23:10Speaker 4: It's it's interesting to see that everybody is just kind
- 23:15Speaker 4: of the weather world. It's on pins and needles because
- 23:18Speaker 4: we're talking all the way back up to Iowa to
- 23:21Speaker 4: West Virginia. That's this is the corridor of severe weather
- 23:25Speaker 4: and flash flooding for for the country.
- 23:27Speaker 2: Did we uh have any high water issues? I know
- 23:30Speaker 2: there was the alerts going off and so on and
- 23:32Speaker 2: so forward. Do we have any specific high water issues.
- 23:35Speaker 4: I actually actually went through some in the east of
- 23:37Speaker 4: the capital in Canal City. We all said, uh, along Avenue,
- 23:41Speaker 4: the the outfalls that go into the Canal River couldn't
- 23:44Speaker 4: handle the water so much so the pressure was so
- 23:47Speaker 4: high that they were acting the culverts, you know, the greats.
- 23:51Speaker 4: They were acting like geyser's water was coming up. So
- 23:53Speaker 4: it was it's big time draining, it.
- 23:56Speaker 3: Said, than what it was. We didn't do we have
- 23:57Speaker 3: any reports of any creek flooding.
- 23:59Speaker 4: River flow, no careerver flooding to be reported at this time.
- 24:02Speaker 4: But it is like you said, it was definitely what
- 24:05Speaker 4: was happening with the water that just the outfahlls couldn't
- 24:09Speaker 4: handle it. I mean, we can't big build bigger outfahls.
- 24:12Speaker 4: It's just not possible anymore. We've got a city already constructed.
- 24:16Speaker 4: So all right, if we could, we would take us
- 24:18Speaker 4: through the rest of the day. Again, rest of day,
- 24:20Speaker 4: we're gonna have some midday storms. Those are up there
- 24:23Speaker 4: north of Sinsey back around Dayton right now. They're headed
- 24:25Speaker 4: our way. We'll see those around the around the lunch hour.
- 24:28Speaker 4: As we go into this afternoons evening, we'll see showers
- 24:30Speaker 4: and storms again. Round six is this evening, maybe a
- 24:34Speaker 4: touch after and so we'll have the next round of
- 24:35Speaker 4: storms and those will go later into the night, and
- 24:38Speaker 4: then we do expect another round tomorrow morning. The thing
- 24:40Speaker 4: about these rounds of storms is you get you essentially
- 24:43Speaker 4: get your batch of storms. They're gonna be with you
- 24:46Speaker 4: four a couple hours, maybe two three hours, and then
- 24:48Speaker 4: they're gone and we have a little bit of a
- 24:50Speaker 4: break gap. Then we get another round of showers and
- 24:52Speaker 4: storms another few three to four hours later that we'll
- 24:54Speaker 4: have coming through. So this is going to be happening
- 24:56Speaker 4: over and over again.
- 24:59Speaker 3: Yeah. The thing Natalie Tenant, who's already had some, she
- 25:02Speaker 3: just came in, uh with a run in. If we
- 25:04Speaker 3: say in the resting business run in.
- 25:06Speaker 7: Well, I'm not really tagged in because we're double team.
- 25:10Speaker 6: Well.
- 25:10Speaker 7: The only thing that I have is from Dame Dave Armstrong.
- 25:14Speaker 7: I asked him about flooding. But it's exactly what you
- 25:16Speaker 7: were saying as I walked in. It's nuisance flooding, clog
- 25:19Speaker 7: drains and full ditch lines. And that's what I would
- 25:23Speaker 7: say to folks. If you know that you are in
- 25:26Speaker 7: an area where there's a drainage, and we always say
- 25:29Speaker 7: blow your grass back onto your lawn and not out
- 25:32Speaker 7: into the street. When I walk the dog, I always
- 25:34Speaker 7: push it off the off the drain, So try to
- 25:36Speaker 7: do that. But here's some other things that we are
- 25:40Speaker 7: certainly passing along that if you live in a flood
- 25:43Speaker 7: prone area and you know it, don't wait until the
- 25:46Speaker 7: water surrounds your home to leave.
- 25:47Speaker 4: Because when you wait, exactly it's too eight for some
- 25:51Speaker 4: people to come make you time.
- 25:52Speaker 7: So, yes, know the difference between watching a warning, that's
- 25:55Speaker 7: your job.
- 25:57Speaker 15: You know.
- 25:57Speaker 4: The taco is the warning, the taco ingredient to the watch.
- 26:01Speaker 4: So if you have all the ingredients for your taco,
- 26:04Speaker 4: that's a watch. If you have a taco, that means
- 26:07Speaker 4: you produced it all. So now you're up to a warning.
- 26:11Speaker 7: Stomach.
- 26:12Speaker 3: Okay, watch out for that letters too.
- 26:14Speaker 2: I know exactly all right now, Brian, of course you
- 26:17Speaker 2: can follow download the Metro News Television app, follow Brian,
- 26:19Speaker 2: follow him on social media as well.
- 26:21Speaker 3: We do want to mind you We have Brian.
- 26:22Speaker 2: Hughes's page, but we also have the Metro News Television
- 26:25Speaker 2: Weather page that.
- 26:26Speaker 4: Has all the instant alerts you could you get to
- 26:28Speaker 4: imagine and we're fine tuning that.
- 26:30Speaker 9: We were constantly tweaking it.
- 26:31Speaker 4: Matter of fact, I literally was writing code at midnight
- 26:34Speaker 4: last night to help improve you know, the way things
- 26:37Speaker 4: operate around here.
- 26:38Speaker 9: So I'll probably go write some more code here in
- 26:40Speaker 9: a few minutes.
- 26:40Speaker 3: Well, well, you know how to live.
- 26:43Speaker 6: I live.
- 26:44Speaker 4: I live a wildlife writing code in the middle of
- 26:46Speaker 4: the storms. Oh, we can make this weather.
- 26:48Speaker 3: People are nuts anyway. Actually, you would dig that.
- 26:50Speaker 4: I will say this when you see, when you see
- 26:52Speaker 4: what I'm about to produce, you will go that's pretty cool.
- 26:54Speaker 2: So all right, Well, if you need to jump back
- 26:57Speaker 2: in here, we'll let you back on a little bit later.
- 26:58Speaker 3: I think that's good.

- 30:24Speaker 2: knows something about the Mountaineers.
- 30:27Speaker 7: We had a great season four and seven in nineteen ninety.
- 30:30Speaker 7: It's all right, all because of that girl mountaineer.
- 30:32Speaker 3: Is that what it was?
- 30:33Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 30:33Speaker 7: Well, forget the fact that people all, well, people did
- 30:35Speaker 7: blame that girl mountaineer because she was the first one
- 30:38Speaker 7: sports fans do that exactly. But they forgot the fact
- 30:41Speaker 7: that Major Harris left early. And imagine if he would
- 30:46Speaker 7: have stayed, what that they wouldn't have even known there
- 30:48Speaker 7: was a girl mountaineer.
- 30:49Speaker 3: Now, were you on campus?
- 30:50Speaker 2: I don't want to give away your age here, but
- 30:51Speaker 2: when it's okay, but when you were you on campus?
- 30:53Speaker 2: When when they had the magical season of eighty eight?
- 30:56Speaker 2: Were you there yet?
- 30:57Speaker 3: Okay?
- 30:58Speaker 2: Well, the reason I ask is because I remember that well,
- 31:02Speaker 2: a little bit younger than you, just a little bit,
- 31:04Speaker 2: but I remember I was just getting into radio at
- 31:06Speaker 2: that time, and I was, as we call it in
- 31:08Speaker 2: the business, running the board for that Mountaineer season. And
- 31:11Speaker 2: I remember our general manager at the radio station setting
- 31:14Speaker 2: us down and saying that general manager of the radio
- 31:17Speaker 2: station wasn't here. This is a love good russe Maguire
- 31:19Speaker 2: was his name. But I remember Russ sitting down and saying, look,
- 31:23Speaker 2: this Mountaineer team is going to be really, really good
- 31:26Speaker 2: this season. All the games weren't on TV like they
- 31:29Speaker 2: are now. There was no web or anything like that.
- 31:32Speaker 2: They're on this radio station.
- 31:33Speaker 3: If you screw this up, don't come back. That's literally.
- 31:38Speaker 3: I sat there, Natalie, six hours running the WVU game,
- 31:41Speaker 3: and I know we're on radio. You can't see this.
- 31:43Speaker 2: I set there before what we used to call cart machines,
- 31:46Speaker 2: which were.
- 31:47Speaker 3: Like they looked like eight track, they looked.
- 31:49Speaker 2: Like a track, sat there with my hand just like this.
- 31:51Speaker 2: Didn't go to the bathroom, didn't eat or anything, because
- 31:54Speaker 2: I was like, i am sitting here for six hours,
- 31:55Speaker 2: and I'm not screwing this game up because I'm seventeen
- 31:57Speaker 2: years old and I don't want to get fired.
- 31:59Speaker 7: And you're here. You didn't screw it up, and you're
- 32:01Speaker 7: going to the Hall of Fame.
- 32:02Speaker 3: That's what they tell me.
- 32:02Speaker 7: Yeah, you know what, the remember the machines that would
- 32:05Speaker 7: erase those cart machines. You know, when you're a poor reporter,
- 32:10Speaker 7: first year reporter, and you didn't have money back in
- 32:13Speaker 7: those days. Remember the olden days when they had checks,
- 32:16Speaker 7: we would we would try to demagnetize our checks. We
- 32:20Speaker 7: would run that demagnetizer is that what it was called
- 32:23Speaker 7: over our checks ca Yeah, carter rators. So it would
- 32:27Speaker 7: take longer for the bank. They would have to hand
- 32:30Speaker 7: input it, so the bank would take longer.
- 32:33Speaker 13: Have money in there.
- 32:35Speaker 7: Yeah, wbo Y. Brad Weaver taught me that I always
- 32:41Speaker 7: remember things about your first job.
- 32:42Speaker 3: I got it all right, all right.
- 32:44Speaker 2: I want to talk about a couple of things in
- 32:45Speaker 2: the news and then we'll turn it over to you
- 32:47Speaker 2: talk about whatever you want to talk about. There's been
- 32:49Speaker 2: a couple of big things, actually two or three that
- 32:51Speaker 2: have made a lot of news recently. One of those
- 32:52Speaker 2: was the clean Seas project in Bell old eighty four
- 32:56Speaker 2: lumber location and the Valley North project that's two hundred
- 32:58Speaker 2: and sixty mile high multi transmission line going from John
- 33:02Speaker 2: Amos of the Frederick County, Maryland. Lots of discussion commission
- 33:05Speaker 2: recently about let'st's start with the facility in Bell because
- 33:07Speaker 2: there's been a lot of questions about that facility.
- 33:10Speaker 7: There certainly are, and I'm really proud of the County Commission,
- 33:13Speaker 7: and at the time it's just it's just Ben Selango
- 33:17Speaker 7: and me and we have had some great public common
- 33:23Speaker 7: They weren't public meetings in a sense officially called. They
- 33:25Speaker 7: were the county commission meeting and anyone's invited to come
- 33:28Speaker 7: and anybody can talk about what they want. And you know,
- 33:30Speaker 7: some folks were willing to say, hey, we're coming to
- 33:34Speaker 7: talk about this, and so we had prepared for it
- 33:36Speaker 7: in terms of let's make time, let's ask questions, let's
- 33:40Speaker 7: try to get both sides to this. So the clean
- 33:42Speaker 7: Seas is the clean Seas plant that is over in
- 33:47Speaker 7: the old Quincy well. It's in Quincy at the old
- 33:49Speaker 7: eighty four lumber spot. And a year ago I went
- 33:53Speaker 7: to the ribbon cutting for it where they showed us
- 33:58Speaker 7: some of the pellets what they call fee stock. Now
- 34:00Speaker 7: for a farm girl, that means a whole different thing.
- 34:03Speaker 7: But feedstock was the plastic pellets that either would become
- 34:08Speaker 7: or would be heated up. You can see. I've talked
- 34:12Speaker 7: to both sides of folks who say, you know, the
- 34:14Speaker 7: folks are against it, it's gonna burn. Well, when I
- 34:17Speaker 7: talked to the to the business folks, the clean Cees folks,
- 34:22Speaker 7: they say, we're not burning plastic because there's no oxygen
- 34:24Speaker 7: to it, so there's no burn process. But it's called
- 34:27Speaker 7: pi PI pri aalysis and there are some folks who
- 34:33Speaker 7: are concerned about it. So they came to us and
- 34:36Speaker 7: they asked us to, you know, write a letter to
- 34:39Speaker 7: the Deep and it was, you know, that Thursday before
- 34:43Speaker 7: it was due on that Monday, and so we just
- 34:44Speaker 7: wrote Deep with some concerns. Now what I did, what
- 34:48Speaker 7: I what we promised to do. There were three things
- 34:51Speaker 7: that the Commission promised to do that the citizens had come.
- 34:54Speaker 7: They were upset that there was not an air monitor
- 34:57Speaker 7: that was in the eastern part of the county near Quincy.
- 35:01Speaker 7: They said it was at Dixie Street. And we also
- 35:05Speaker 7: had C. W. Sigmun who is our emergency director and
- 35:08Speaker 7: he was up there at many of these meetings at
- 35:10Speaker 7: clean Seas. So that was our first request from them.
- 35:14Speaker 7: We called d EP, they will put a monitor up there.
- 35:17Speaker 7: The second request was they were upset that our logo,
- 35:22Speaker 7: the Canawa County Commission Condah County logo was on the
- 35:25Speaker 7: clean Seas website in terms of being a partner. And
- 35:30Speaker 7: I said, yes, I saw that too, and I wasn't
- 35:33Speaker 7: too happy either because I said, and you know. I
- 35:36Speaker 7: was in full transparency. I said, folks, I was at
- 35:39Speaker 7: that ribbon cutting and I was there and they were like, oh,
- 35:42Speaker 7: we know Natalie. We saw the pictures and I'm like, oh,
- 35:46Speaker 7: they got pictures of Natalie. And I'm like, I'll take
- 35:49Speaker 7: that one because I showed up to it. There are pictures,
- 35:52Speaker 7: and maybe they thought because I showed up at ribbon cuttings.
- 35:55Speaker 7: Now I go to a lot of ribbon cuttings. I'm
- 35:57Speaker 7: going to the one today that you talked to Josh
- 35:59Speaker 7: Stowers about because I want to support. So that was
- 36:03Speaker 7: a promise to get that taken off. And I talked
- 36:07Speaker 7: to John Yance. It's y O n Ce, but I
- 36:11Speaker 7: think it's still pronounced Yance, not like the Yances that
- 36:14Speaker 7: are here in Charleston. But I talked to him. He said,
- 36:17Speaker 7: I can understand that Natalie will take that off. My
- 36:19Speaker 7: second duty was to have people from the company, John Ynce,
- 36:27Speaker 7: who is the vice president here for Charleston, and he
- 36:31Speaker 7: promised that he would come and talk to some of
- 36:34Speaker 7: the groups that have asked about this. So that is
- 36:39Speaker 7: my next step in getting Citizens Action Group together. Morgan King,
- 36:43Speaker 7: there's a gentleman named Eric Carruthers, who has made himself
- 36:47Speaker 7: very known, and I see him a lot of the
- 36:49Speaker 7: different meetings.
- 36:50Speaker 3: Now show yesterday did.
- 36:53Speaker 7: About me, I didn't say. I didn't hear it.
- 36:55Speaker 3: Not a thing.
- 36:55Speaker 2: It was on the show yesterday. You talked about a
- 36:57Speaker 2: protest at the capitol. You have to deal with the
- 36:59Speaker 2: transmission line. So he gave us a live update from there.
- 37:02Speaker 3: But go ahead.
- 37:02Speaker 7: I meant to go. I meant to go over there
- 37:04Speaker 7: and say hello to folks. And that's right, And and
- 37:08Speaker 7: he does back and forth. And now we have each
- 37:10Speaker 7: other's cell phone, and he's gonna text me and and
- 37:13Speaker 7: there's a woman named Marty Gibson. So anyway, I'm gonna
- 37:16Speaker 7: pull those folks together because we have to have respectful
- 37:23Speaker 7: dialogue back and forth. Because I had that with John,
- 37:26Speaker 7: and of course I was only here on his side
- 37:28Speaker 7: during the during the commission meeting, I was only here
- 37:31Speaker 7: on the other side. And there there may be some
- 37:35Speaker 7: misconceptions from both. So we've we've we've we've made our
- 37:40Speaker 7: we've met our promises that we promised to folks. That
- 37:44Speaker 7: was a long, a long story.
- 37:46Speaker 2: We're talking to Kennaugh County Commissioner Natalie Tenth of a
- 37:49Speaker 2: Dave Island show on five. That eline brought to you
- 37:50Speaker 2: in part by the all New Generations Ford of Hurricane
- 37:52Speaker 2: Visit Generations for dot Com transmission.
- 37:55Speaker 3: Line was discussed at the last County Commissioner Sure.
- 37:58Speaker 7: I loved that meeting. It was an hour and a
- 38:00Speaker 7: half longest meeting I've ever had as a county commissioner.
- 38:04Speaker 7: You know, there are some new there's some new changes.
- 38:06Speaker 7: Ben Selango runs a great Kenowai County Mission Commission meeting,
- 38:11Speaker 7: and we knew this was kind of going to be longer.
- 38:14Speaker 7: We had. We had folks from Valley Link there. Now
- 38:21Speaker 7: I want to put this out because everybody who was
- 38:23Speaker 7: in that room, no, no, the behind the things PJM.
- 38:29Speaker 7: I was trying to like, what, where, where what's PJM
- 38:31Speaker 7: stand for? And people are like, I don't, I don't know.
- 38:34Speaker 7: But it's the the the organization. It's called an LLC.
- 38:39Speaker 7: It used to stand for someone told me Pennsylvania, Jersey
- 38:42Speaker 7: and Maryland. But it is the entity that determines what
- 38:47Speaker 7: is needed in the power grid and it represents thirteen
- 38:50Speaker 7: states of which West Virginia is one is one of them,
- 38:55Speaker 7: and it determined that there was a need for more Electricity,
- 39:00Speaker 7: and then Valley Link is a collaboration. I don't think
- 39:05Speaker 7: I don't have the all of their information. I don't
- 39:08Speaker 7: think it's an LLC, but it's a collaboration among AEP
- 39:12Speaker 7: which is called trans Source, First Energy and Dominion. So
- 39:16Speaker 7: those three energy companies make up valley Link. Valley Link
- 39:22Speaker 7: won the bid from what PJM determined, So this is
- 39:28Speaker 7: why we have valley Link North and Alex Weld spoke
- 39:33Speaker 7: and gave a lot of information, did a power point.
- 39:37Speaker 7: I ask a lot of questions. Imagine that, you know,
- 39:39Speaker 7: I'm always like and what about this? And she's like,
- 39:42Speaker 7: it's in the next lit and I'm like, what about
- 39:44Speaker 7: this in the next lot? Okay, So she spoke very respectful,
- 39:48Speaker 7: and then citizens spoke who were very respectful, and you know,
- 39:52Speaker 7: we were all just asking each of them the questions. Now,
- 39:56Speaker 7: folks came in and I had to set you tell people,
- 40:01Speaker 7: I play Devil's Advocate a lot, and I did, so
- 40:05Speaker 7: I push back on what they were saying. I am
- 40:08Speaker 7: a farm girl, a seventh generation tenant. I am fighting
- 40:12Speaker 7: for two century farms that my family has and that
- 40:17Speaker 7: a nephew would be able to call a century farm.
- 40:20Speaker 7: But during a divorce, his wife got our land, our
- 40:24Speaker 7: century farmland. So I'm extra raw about when we talk
- 40:30Speaker 7: about land and we talk about what we do with
- 40:32Speaker 7: our land. So that was a lot of the reasons
- 40:36Speaker 7: that people did not want it. It's going to be
- 40:38Speaker 7: on our land. You're going to take our farms. News
- 40:41Speaker 7: You're not taking the farms, You're taking the two hundred
- 40:44Speaker 7: feet maybe up to I don't think it's up to
- 40:47Speaker 7: a thousand feet where these towers will go. And this
- 40:53Speaker 7: is where I want to learn more. And this is
- 40:55Speaker 7: why I'm going to go to John Amos power Plant
- 40:58Speaker 7: and I'm hopeful. I was out there yesterday, but I
- 41:00Speaker 7: I couldn't determine which ones was the were the seven
- 41:03Speaker 7: sixty five voltage And I'm going to go stand under it.
- 41:06Speaker 7: I'm going to go look at it. I'm going to
- 41:07Speaker 7: take pictures so I can really see. Because the citizens
- 41:11Speaker 7: who came to Canawac County want the Commission to write
- 41:16Speaker 7: a resolution that says we're against it. How do I
- 41:19Speaker 7: do that? How do I do that if I don't
- 41:21Speaker 7: know all the other like, they don't want me to
- 41:23Speaker 7: go and do a resolution that says I'm for it.
- 41:25Speaker 7: Right if I don't have all the information.
- 41:28Speaker 3: That's the way you should do it right.
- 41:30Speaker 7: And it's the reporter in me that that pushes back
- 41:33Speaker 7: that also, and it's it's you know, I don't know,
- 41:37Speaker 7: how do you talk about yourself as a leader. It's
- 41:39Speaker 7: the leader in me who is going to be asking
- 41:43Speaker 7: the hard questions. It's the leader in me who's going
- 41:46Speaker 7: to say, let's not cut off our nose to spite
- 41:49Speaker 7: our face. Let's just not get all riled up if
- 41:52Speaker 7: we don't know what's happening. Because then I'm up and
- 41:56Speaker 7: down the inner from Marion County. So I'm up and
- 41:58Speaker 7: down the interstate a lot. And I asked one woman,
- 42:01Speaker 7: I said, how many cell phone towers did you see
- 42:04Speaker 7: when you came down from Calhoun County? And she looked
- 42:09Speaker 7: at me like I was like what, I didn't notice
- 42:12Speaker 7: any of them? I said, do you see twenty five
- 42:16Speaker 7: years ago we were up in arms because we were
- 42:18Speaker 7: gonna have cell phone towers? Do you remember that? So
- 42:21Speaker 7: now I drive up and down, there's like, I don't
- 42:24Speaker 7: even know what the tower is. They don't look like
- 42:27Speaker 7: cell phone towers to me. When I go up and
- 42:29Speaker 7: down seventy nine, there's like three that I can see
- 42:33Speaker 7: in one view, So I don't like. That's my question.
- 42:37Speaker 7: It's like, what are we doing here? And if we
- 42:41Speaker 7: don't have this, what's next? Because obviously there's a need
- 42:44Speaker 7: for electricity, and people are like, but it's our electricity
- 42:47Speaker 7: and we're gonna get nothing from it. Well, we've been
- 42:50Speaker 7: sending electricity out with Pride, our West Virginia Cole lights
- 42:53Speaker 7: the world or you know, lights whatever, and so we've
- 42:58Speaker 7: been sending it out. Then then second they're like, we're
- 43:02Speaker 7: it's somebody else. It's going we're not getting anything from it. Well,
- 43:05Speaker 7: let's work to get something from it. Let's negotiate. Let's
- 43:09Speaker 7: get roads put in, because I know what it's like
- 43:11Speaker 7: to be on a farm when the natural gas companies
- 43:15Speaker 7: come in. Let's negotiate good roads for our farms. Let's
- 43:19Speaker 7: negotiate more money for that area that you're not really losing,
- 43:25Speaker 7: you just you just maybe can't use it at that point.
- 43:27Speaker 7: And that's what I want to learn more about too.
- 43:29Speaker 7: We'll see if Natalie's hair gets curly when she goes
- 43:32Speaker 7: under the.
- 43:33Speaker 3: John Amos talk to TJ. Meadows about this. He's all
- 43:36Speaker 3: things energy. He can explain it all to you.
- 43:39Speaker 7: Well, I'm getting it. It's not it's not. I don't
- 43:41Speaker 7: need the energy explained to me. We have to we
- 43:44Speaker 7: have to listen to what people are afraid.
- 43:46Speaker 3: Of loss and I understand that, and that's.
- 43:51Speaker 7: What we have to I don't want to say come
- 43:55Speaker 7: to terms about because that's not fair, but we have
- 43:58Speaker 7: to have an understanding of that. And so go ahead.
- 44:01Speaker 7: I know you're trying to.
- 44:02Speaker 3: Sake the break. I'll be able to hang out with me.
- 44:04Speaker 3: Just one second here, Okay, I do have to take

- 45:36Speaker 19: Hey, this is Bobby Spratt, and last year we purchased
- 45:38Speaker 19: a new HVAC system from Best Virginia heating and coaling.
- 45:41Speaker 19: During the inspection of our old unit, their technician discovered
- 45:44Speaker 19: a crack in the heat exchanger that was slowly leaking
- 45:47Speaker 19: carbon monoxide into our home.
- 45:49Speaker 7: From that moment on, we knew we.

- 46:57Speaker 2: is here in Commissioner Commission.
- 47:00Speaker 3: You may kind of reference it earlier.
- 47:01Speaker 2: You folks are down a member because Lance Wheeler stepped
- 47:03Speaker 2: down to take over the ambulance service, and you and
- 47:06Speaker 2: commission President Solango and now got decisions to make on
- 47:10Speaker 2: who the next commissioner is going to be.
- 47:12Speaker 7: Yes, we do, and we couldn't get it done. On
- 47:15Speaker 7: July twenty third, that was the meeting with the clean
- 47:18Speaker 7: Sees folks because we had different folks and I realized
- 47:20Speaker 7: I should have put my nomination out there, but that
- 47:23Speaker 7: was too late. It's too late now. So I just
- 47:26Speaker 7: think the Kanah Republican Committee gets to gets to give
- 47:31Speaker 7: us names, and really.
- 47:32Speaker 3: So when is the next meeting that will decide that?
- 47:34Speaker 7: The twenty seventh, twelve.
- 47:35Speaker 2: Seventh and so basically, since since you you guys couldn't
- 47:37Speaker 2: come up with an agreement so basically the Executive Committee
- 47:41Speaker 2: will then submit it's three.
- 47:44Speaker 7: And I have a feeling they have them because I
- 47:47Speaker 7: saw a couple press releases. One they were saying they
- 47:50Speaker 7: were taking applications until the fourth of August, and then
- 47:54Speaker 7: two I saw their other press release where they weren't
- 47:56Speaker 7: happy with Commissioner Natalie Tennant. But you know, they're the
- 48:01Speaker 7: ones who get to do this. And when I did,
- 48:03Speaker 7: I said, I looked at what precedent had been done
- 48:06Speaker 7: in Knawakah, and that's what I was going to ask you.
- 48:08Speaker 7: I mean, maybe better off the year I don't know,
- 48:11Speaker 7: but but you know, back in twenty twenty four, we
- 48:14Speaker 7: had to the commission at that time had two opportunities
- 48:19Speaker 7: in appointing someone. When there was a vacancy in the
- 48:24Speaker 7: county Commission, they did not appoint the person who won
- 48:26Speaker 7: the primary election, and in the Prosecutor's office they did
- 48:31Speaker 7: appoint the person who won the primary election. So I
- 48:33Speaker 7: was like, what what precedent do I take? Well, we
- 48:35Speaker 7: got a bunch of them, so let's go with the
- 48:37Speaker 7: third one.
- 48:38Speaker 3: A and B, A and B and you took J Yeah, yeah.
- 48:43Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean, but it's it's it's interesting and it's like,
- 48:47Speaker 7: you know, it's it's good. People don't realize it's okay
- 48:51Speaker 7: to be in tough situations. It's okay to be squeezed
- 48:54Speaker 7: a little bit, because then you really learn how someone is.
- 48:59Speaker 7: And so I know, I'm squeezed and I'm in a
- 49:02Speaker 7: tough situation. I thought about that. I've thought about this,
- 49:07Speaker 7: you know, especially with the with the Valley Link. I've certainly,
- 49:12Speaker 7: you know, I woke up one morning and I'm like,
- 49:14Speaker 7: what about the what about the bald eagles? Natalie, It's like, well,
- 49:17Speaker 7: how many bald eagles? I know there's a lot of
- 49:19Speaker 7: bald there's some over in uh normad or Montgomery clear
- 49:23Speaker 7: on down there, a little bit over there, a little bit.
- 49:26Speaker 7: What's it going to do to the bald eagles? I mean,
- 49:28Speaker 7: folks think that I'm I'm I'm thinking all the way
- 49:31Speaker 7: around on this, and so are the people. So is
- 49:34Speaker 7: Valley Link. They don't need. And that's the other thing.
- 49:37Speaker 7: They don't have a true route yet. The route is
- 49:40Speaker 7: going to be determined. Well, it's going to be narrowed
- 49:42Speaker 7: down in November.
- 49:44Speaker 2: Say they wanted to have it completed I think by
- 49:46Speaker 2: early next year, but maybe they want to get it
- 49:48Speaker 2: done in November and have it ready to go.
- 49:49Speaker 7: Or right well, to have to have more open houses. Heck,
- 49:52Speaker 7: it might not even go through Kanawa County. I don't know.
- 49:56Speaker 7: And so they still want to hear from folks and
- 50:00Speaker 7: they haven't shut people out. There's been twenty three across
- 50:03Speaker 7: the whole region. Twenty three open houses. Well yeah, I
- 50:09Speaker 7: was up there in Cisonville. There's some in Putnam County also,
- 50:13Speaker 7: and folks are mad. It's like, you know, they paid
- 50:16Speaker 7: us go from place to place. Well, heck yeah, because
- 50:18Speaker 7: you're an expert on your one thing construction. Somebody else
- 50:22Speaker 7: was the expert on easement, and right away someone was
- 50:25Speaker 7: the expert on how much money or landowners going to
- 50:31Speaker 7: receive for doing this. And so that's why I just
- 50:34Speaker 7: thought that was kind of cool. But I'm willing to
- 50:38Speaker 7: take the hits. I'm willing to have to make the
- 50:41Speaker 7: tough decisions because I don't want us. I want us
- 50:45Speaker 7: to be an improv You know how, when you do improv,
- 50:48Speaker 7: it's supposed to be yes and or this is your situation,
- 50:52Speaker 7: the needs to and and not just a no. You
- 50:55Speaker 7: can't do improv if someone says no, good way to
- 50:59Speaker 7: put it if you ever done improv I have not. Well, okay,
- 51:03Speaker 7: that's because you might have said no insteady yes.
