- 0:00Speaker 1: Hello there, Welcome to the ned Palty.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Hi.
- 0:06Speaker 3: This is Nick and Ostasy, you lead editor and writer
- 0:09Speaker 3: on Mall shadow Lord, and you're listening to aggressive negotiations.
- 0:19Speaker 2: You have wandered on into the middle of some aggressive negotiations.
- 0:23Speaker 2: A Star Wars podcast here on the Nerd Party Network,
- 0:27Speaker 2: hosted by your two friends, myself, Jedi Master John Mills,
- 0:31Speaker 2: and my dear compatriot, my ever, ever long suffering companion
- 0:36Speaker 2: in this journey, Jedi Master Matthew Rushing. Matt, how are
- 0:41Speaker 2: you doing this evening or day whenever? People are listening
- 0:45Speaker 2: to this across the galaxy?
- 0:47Speaker 1: Thankfully not suffering, John, And one of the main reasons
- 0:51Speaker 1: for that is because I'm here with you to talk
- 0:53Speaker 1: about Star Wars, which is one of my favorite things
- 0:56Speaker 1: to do. And you know, still kind of I feel
- 0:58Speaker 1: like basking in that glo of the Mandalorian and Grogu
- 1:02Speaker 1: and Darth Maul, you know, the mast shadow Lord having
- 1:07Speaker 1: come out, and and so just enjoying the soundtracks that
- 1:11Speaker 1: came out for those as well, and uh, just eager
- 1:15Speaker 1: eagerly anticipating now, uh the hopeful physical release of the
- 1:20Speaker 1: Mandalorian Grogu maybe within the next six months. So you know,
- 1:24Speaker 1: I can, I can enjoy all the special features and
- 1:28Speaker 1: I can, you know, do things like watch with the
- 1:31Speaker 1: director's commentary and that kind of stuff. So yeah, man,
- 1:35Speaker 1: I mean it's it's a to me. It's a great
- 1:37Speaker 1: time to be a Star Wars fan, and it's a
- 1:39Speaker 1: great time to be talking with you about Star Wars.
- 1:43Speaker 2: Well, gosh, Matt, I'm kind of torn here because you're
- 1:46Speaker 2: suffering is actually what I enjoy most. But sure, we're here,
- 1:49Speaker 2: let's talk about Star Wars. What the heck? And actually
- 1:52Speaker 2: we have made to suffer.
- 1:54Speaker 1: It's our lots in life.
- 1:55Speaker 2: Exactly right. And I think that uh, you know, if
- 1:59Speaker 2: people love to share the word, you know, you can
- 2:02Speaker 2: go over to Apple Podcasts, give us star rating and review.
- 2:05Speaker 2: We'd appreciate it. You can reach out to us at
- 2:07Speaker 2: the nerd party dot com, slash contact and find at
- 2:10Speaker 2: the Jedi Masters out there on ex Twitter. And I
- 2:13Speaker 2: think we're just too old and busy to find any
- 2:16Speaker 2: other topics to find any other networks to be on.
- 2:21Speaker 2: But what I can say, too old and busy to
- 2:25Speaker 2: find any other social networks to be on. But what
- 2:28Speaker 2: I can say is that we promise that if we
- 2:30Speaker 2: ever do go on TikTok. Neither one of us will
- 2:33Speaker 2: ever try to invent a dance, so while.
- 2:37Speaker 1: We won't, no, I think I want to do the
- 2:39Speaker 1: snice doodles, you.
- 2:40Speaker 2: Know, oh the side Well, okay, size noodles. Come on,
- 2:43Speaker 2: hold on, are you talking nineteen eighty three size noodles
- 2:46Speaker 2: or are you talking special edition nineteen ninety seven size
- 2:49Speaker 2: mash toodles.
- 2:50Speaker 1: That's what I'm talking about.
- 2:51Speaker 2: Oh, now see, I like that. I like that. You
- 2:53Speaker 2: can call it, you can call it the stringless Marionette.
- 2:57Speaker 2: And you start off with like the herky jerky movements
- 2:59Speaker 2: and then all you're doing the hip.
- 3:01Speaker 1: Thing exactly like that. It's like you start off with
- 3:04Speaker 1: a lane and then move into something smoother.
- 3:06Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, I like that. I like that very much.
- 3:10Speaker 2: I just promised that get a couple of drinks in
- 3:12Speaker 2: me and I'll be jaw Yao's up for you, Okay,
- 3:15Speaker 2: So I'll just run up and just go Wow, who
- 3:19Speaker 2: can believe has been so long since shaw Yaos came
- 3:22Speaker 2: into our lives. I'll never forget him. May he maybe,
- 3:26Speaker 2: may he forever be in our hearts? So uh, you know, though,
- 3:29Speaker 2: I do have a little fun idea here Matt, because
- 3:33Speaker 2: I was thinking, right, we seem to be, like you said,
- 3:35Speaker 2: we're getting a lot of content for Star Wars, but
- 3:37Speaker 2: we haven't had any announcements for anything. I think D
- 3:40Speaker 2: twenty three is coming up as of this recording. Is
- 3:43Speaker 2: that sometime soon or something like that? Yeah? Probably, sure,
- 3:46Speaker 2: why not they have it, But it feels like there's
- 3:49Speaker 2: got to be some announcement coming along here, right that.
- 3:52Speaker 2: The whole thing is, we've got this new era of
- 3:55Speaker 2: Star Wars going along, and I always think about what
- 3:58Speaker 2: movie or what show could they do? And I was
- 4:01Speaker 2: thinking specifically about the fact that I think we have
- 4:07Speaker 2: an opportunity here, and I want to get your perspective
- 4:09Speaker 2: on this. We have explored the bad Batch and the
- 4:15Speaker 2: Clone Wars, seeing the good soldiers. Good soldiers follow Oders,
- 4:21Speaker 2: we've seen them go through everything, and we've seen the
- 4:25Speaker 2: perspective of the good guys. Are we entering an era
- 4:33Speaker 2: where we could be looking at a show about Stormtroopers
- 4:40Speaker 2: finding their way in the post return of the Jedi
- 4:43Speaker 2: world and being true Star Wars. It's almost like a
- 4:48Speaker 2: mirror image of the Bad Batch, where eventually these guys
- 4:51Speaker 2: are going to get to a good place. But they're
- 4:55Speaker 2: trying to figure out what their lives mean in this
- 4:59Speaker 2: post empire world. Do you think that's a show that
- 5:03Speaker 2: could work in the modern Star Wars era?
- 5:08Speaker 1: I mean, so is the good place like the world
- 5:10Speaker 1: between worlds or like a heaven or something like that.
- 5:16Speaker 2: I'm talking more than they become decent close instead of stormtroopers.
- 5:20Speaker 1: You know, Oh yeah, okay, no, I figured that's what
- 5:23Speaker 1: you meant. I you know, I think that's an interesting idea.
- 5:27Speaker 1: And one of the reasons is because you know, with
- 5:32Speaker 1: Clones the story as it's set up, they go the
- 5:40Speaker 1: way they do because they don't really have a choice, right,
- 5:43Speaker 1: And those that are able to counterman the programming, it takes,
- 5:51Speaker 1: you know, some sort of freak accident or it takes
- 5:56Speaker 1: intervention by somebody like a Soca or something like that
- 5:58Speaker 1: to have happened for them not to go the way
- 6:01Speaker 1: that they go. But so many people, you know, who
- 6:04Speaker 1: join the Empire, that's their choice, right, And so I
- 6:10Speaker 1: think you do have this really interesting story that you
- 6:13Speaker 1: could tell about the idea of what happens when the
- 6:18Speaker 1: you know, empire ends, and you know, you have those
- 6:21Speaker 1: people coming out of it who really believed in the Empire.
- 6:25Speaker 1: You have those people coming out of it who were
- 6:26Speaker 1: basically doing it for paycheck. You had those people who
- 6:30Speaker 1: were doing it because they actually liked the mayhem and
- 6:33Speaker 1: the murder of it, you know, and being ordered to
- 6:36Speaker 1: do these terrible things. I mean, you have a gamut
- 6:40Speaker 1: that you could run of storytelling opportunities. And I think,
- 6:45Speaker 1: you know, like you said, Bad Batch, with the way
- 6:48Speaker 1: in which all of those clones speecifically, you know, ended
- 6:53Speaker 1: their run as a clone beholden to the Republic and
- 6:58Speaker 1: then the Empire, it would be fascinating to watch people
- 7:02Speaker 1: who had chosen, for one reason or another to join
- 7:05Speaker 1: the Empire on purpose, and what are their lives like
- 7:10Speaker 1: when they come out of that. You know, I think
- 7:12Speaker 1: it's not that we want to excuse the villainy of
- 7:16Speaker 1: any person, right and specifically you know, choosing to be
- 7:22Speaker 1: a part of something like the Empire. But you know,
- 7:24Speaker 1: I think one of the beauties of something like the
- 7:27Speaker 1: Bad Batch where Crosshair is a great example of somebody
- 7:31Speaker 1: who just goes with their programming and just continues with
- 7:34Speaker 1: it because it also reinforces previous ideology that he held to.
- 7:39Speaker 1: But you also see all the people like it, you know,
- 7:42Speaker 1: as we watched in and Or who truly believed that
- 7:46Speaker 1: the Empire was doing the right thing right. They had
- 7:49Speaker 1: been suckered into the propaganda from the Empire and they
- 7:55Speaker 1: truly believed it right. And so again like coming out
- 7:59Speaker 1: of that after Return of the Jedi Man, I think
- 8:03Speaker 1: that that does have a lot of a validity, a
- 8:07Speaker 1: lot of validity as a story idea.
- 8:09Speaker 2: Well, I'm glad. I'm glad that you do, because sort
- 8:12Speaker 2: of the inspiration point for it is I know that
- 8:14Speaker 2: Tashi and is coming out with a volume collecting the
- 8:18Speaker 2: original Marvel comics Run like a nice deluxe hardcover edition, which,
- 8:23Speaker 2: of course, if I have enough money saved up when
- 8:27Speaker 2: it comes out, I will buy, even though I have
- 8:30Speaker 2: most of the original run still in the original box
- 8:35Speaker 2: that I have everything hidden away in. Trust me, kids,
- 8:39Speaker 2: don't break in. It's worthless. I read the hell out
- 8:41Speaker 2: of those issues. The spines are broken. There's nothing even remote.
- 8:45Speaker 2: If I had it graded by like the Comic Book Guide,
- 8:49Speaker 2: everything would get like a one point three. But just
- 8:52Speaker 2: trust me, they've been run racking.
- 8:53Speaker 1: It's worth this.
- 8:54Speaker 2: Yes, are you the creature of hey Lewis? Because you
- 8:57Speaker 2: were making me laugh. I think that The issue that
- 9:03Speaker 2: inspired this sort of thinking is that there was. It
- 9:06Speaker 2: was issue eighty six. It's sick that I can remember
- 9:09Speaker 2: this many years later that it was issue eighty six.
- 9:12Speaker 2: The cover of it is you see a stormtrooper holding
- 9:15Speaker 2: Princess Leah above a chasm like a canyon, and he's
- 9:19Speaker 2: saying as he holds her, still feeling high and mighty, Princess.
- 9:23Speaker 2: The story is this stormtrooper and Princess Lea wind up
- 9:28Speaker 2: stranded somewhere, sort of like an enemy mind concept for
- 9:31Speaker 2: anybody who's seen that old Lou Gasset Junior Dennis Quaid movie,
- 9:35Speaker 2: and in it they have to help each other try
- 9:40Speaker 2: to survive. But you find out the stormtrooper is actually
- 9:43Speaker 2: from Aldern, and Lea of course, is absolutely floored by this,
- 9:49Speaker 2: like how could you possibly be a stormtrooper? And you
- 9:52Speaker 2: have that sort of back and forth of him saying,
- 9:56Speaker 2: I was doing a job. I'm a soldier, what did
- 9:58Speaker 2: you expect me to do? I'm more an alder On too.
- 10:02Speaker 2: I think there are just some really interesting layers you
- 10:05Speaker 2: could get into. My question is, is okay, I appreciate
- 10:08Speaker 2: that you find that there's validity in that. Do you
- 10:11Speaker 2: think that there's a show in that that people would
- 10:13Speaker 2: want to watch because you're guaranteed to have no Jedi
- 10:18Speaker 2: in it, and you're guaranteed to just be focused on
- 10:23Speaker 2: these troopers as they go through the galaxy and try
- 10:26Speaker 2: to find their way. I think you could even have
- 10:29Speaker 2: a bad Batch like Core, where what you're saying, one
- 10:34Speaker 2: of them is the true believer and two of them
- 10:38Speaker 2: are like, well no, I was just sort of I
- 10:40Speaker 2: didn't know they were doing this, what are you talking about?
- 10:42Speaker 2: And then you have maybe a commanding officer that's like, yeah,
- 10:44Speaker 2: I kind of knew that we were on the wrong side,
- 10:47Speaker 2: but what am I going to do? My duty was
- 10:49Speaker 2: to protect you guys, and have that sort of thing.
- 10:52Speaker 2: I mean, is this an animated series? Is this a
- 10:55Speaker 2: live action series? Do you think they could do this
- 10:57Speaker 2: with live action?
- 11:00Speaker 1: I think that's a good question as to what it
- 11:02Speaker 1: should be. You know, I do see that the animated
- 11:06Speaker 1: route would probably be easier for them in some senses, right,
- 11:10Speaker 1: because you know, you're it's just let it's probably more
- 11:14Speaker 1: cost effective most likely. And I was thinking of from
- 11:21Speaker 1: two perspectives with the animation idea. Is this something where
- 11:27Speaker 1: it's almost like you did a tales of and you
- 11:32Speaker 1: follow you know, three different stormtroopers coming out of the Empire,
- 11:37Speaker 1: and they have three completely different perspectives, right, uh, you
- 11:42Speaker 1: know one's contrite. One is belligerent, you know, the other
- 11:45Speaker 1: is maybe just completely messed up from his experience. You know,
- 11:49Speaker 1: many people who come out of war, right, they have
- 11:51Speaker 1: the PTSD from it. And I think that could be
- 11:54Speaker 1: really interesting idea and the and that's that's where my
- 12:00Speaker 1: mind went immediately when I'm thinking of the animated idea,
- 12:05Speaker 1: because do you think because I think this is the
- 12:09Speaker 1: main question. Is this an idea that supports like an
- 12:14Speaker 1: entire season of something or is it better within a
- 12:20Speaker 1: short run because it just allows us to explore those
- 12:25Speaker 1: interesting ideas without having to try and artificially continue the story,
- 12:31Speaker 1: if you know what I'm saying.
- 12:33Speaker 2: I do. I think the big question becomes, what's your
- 12:36Speaker 2: point of attack? At what point are we meeting these guys?
- 12:40Speaker 2: And I think you if you wanted to have it
- 12:43Speaker 2: be a full season show, it would have to be
- 12:49Speaker 2: started anywhere but the Battle of end or because it's
- 12:55Speaker 2: got to start somewhere else and maybe they're deserting or
- 12:58Speaker 2: something well, or or what idea? What do you think
- 13:01Speaker 2: would be the certain point.
- 13:03Speaker 1: You said something about Endoor and immediately clicked. Like, my
- 13:07Speaker 1: wife and I just we showed a friend of ours
- 13:10Speaker 1: Star Wars for the first time. She knew very little
- 13:13Speaker 1: about Star Wars. We finally got through all of them.
- 13:16Speaker 1: We finished Return of the Jedi. She was like, I
- 13:18Speaker 1: think that's my favorite, uh, the last two her favorites,
- 13:22Speaker 1: and so h it was wonderful. But Rex, right, It
- 13:28Speaker 1: just made me think of what if a storm Trooper
- 13:32Speaker 1: or three Stormtroopers surrender to Rex on Endoor, right, and
- 13:38Speaker 1: and you have that juxtaposition of and and so that
- 13:43Speaker 1: maybe is our end for the story. And what if
- 13:46Speaker 1: it's about Rex trying to help these guys be rehabilitated. Yeah,
- 13:51Speaker 1: and and and the difference between how each of these three.
- 13:56Speaker 2: Guys approach I like this. I like this a lot
- 14:00Speaker 2: because by having Rex as the underpinning of the show,
- 14:03Speaker 2: you have an opportunity because you have a character who's
- 14:06Speaker 2: gone through the whole journey all the way there, and
- 14:11Speaker 2: he can be a great counselor for people, sort of
- 14:14Speaker 2: the way Captain America winds up being a counselor for
- 14:17Speaker 2: people after you know, the snap in Infinity war, He's
- 14:22Speaker 2: been through it. He can counsel people how to make
- 14:26Speaker 2: life work after, you know, terrible tragedy in their lives.
- 14:31Speaker 1: Life after Empire.
- 14:33Speaker 2: You know, it's like right, yeah, But the thing I
- 14:37Speaker 2: struggled with with Endoor, tell me if this this plays
- 14:41Speaker 2: in it for you at all? The thing I struggle
- 14:44Speaker 2: with for Endoor is simply the fact that I think
- 14:49Speaker 2: that Endoors a starting point got burned out by some
- 14:52Speaker 2: of the early New EU literature that Disney released, where
- 14:58Speaker 2: it seemed everybody was used Endoors the flashpoint for their story,
- 15:03Speaker 2: and it was like that that's the one thing is
- 15:07Speaker 2: is that just a personal thing that I have? Is
- 15:09Speaker 2: that something that is just my own hang up? Because
- 15:12Speaker 2: I would say, I like the idea of bringing Rex in,
- 15:16Speaker 2: but I would even enjoy seeing these people start at
- 15:22Speaker 2: one of the celebrations at at Bestpin or even on
- 15:29Speaker 2: tato wine, like so you know, troops on tatowine first
- 15:33Speaker 2: and foremost, we love to start things on tato wine.
- 15:36Speaker 2: But additionally having them at some outpost where you can,
- 15:44Speaker 2: like you said, not excuse, but understand how somebody could say, look,
- 15:49Speaker 2: I just enlisted because what else was I going to do?
- 15:52Speaker 2: I just wanted to be a soldier. I wasn't thinking
- 15:54Speaker 2: about anything, and he just spends his whole career, as
- 15:59Speaker 2: it were, just like post it on some dustball planet
- 16:02Speaker 2: where the worst thing that ever happens is he has
- 16:04Speaker 2: to like stun a jahua who's trying to steal their
- 16:07Speaker 2: speeder or something.
- 16:08Speaker 3: You know.
- 16:09Speaker 1: Yeah, I do get what you're saying. And I think
- 16:12Speaker 1: one of the things that when I think of the
- 16:14Speaker 1: idea of that, there have been you know, other mediums
- 16:20Speaker 1: where we've talked about things like you know, what Happened
- 16:24Speaker 1: after Indoor and that kind of stuff. I'm reminded that
- 16:29Speaker 1: Dave Filoni over wrote the Zoka novel by doing his
- 16:34Speaker 1: version of that story and had no problem with it.
- 16:38Speaker 1: And so that's where I you know, I love you know, uh,
- 16:43Speaker 1: the expanded material mm hm. But at the same time,
- 16:48Speaker 1: if we have a good enough story, I don't care
- 16:51Speaker 1: about overwriting it and maybe giving us the definitive version,
- 16:55Speaker 1: you know, and I know you don't either.
- 16:56Speaker 2: I'm sure I would not object. I would not overwriting
- 17:00Speaker 2: that material at all.
- 17:01Speaker 1: But I think, you know, I think there is a
- 17:10Speaker 1: lot of different storytelling options here, you know, in all honesty,
- 17:16Speaker 1: I think what we're seeing is as we're talking about this,
- 17:19Speaker 1: there are a lot of different ways that you could
- 17:21Speaker 1: attack this. You know, I still am quite taken just
- 17:27Speaker 1: with the idea that Rex is somehow involved, you know,
- 17:35Speaker 1: and because again, like you said, that gives you you're
- 17:39Speaker 1: in And the other part about this is right, is
- 17:43Speaker 1: that it begins the question, and this is I think
- 17:45Speaker 1: the other big question, right is what do we do
- 17:48Speaker 1: with all of these people? And we've seen a little
- 17:50Speaker 1: bit that in the Mandalorian right, the Rehabilitation Project. We
- 17:54Speaker 1: just finished talking about the Mandalorian season three, and we
- 17:56Speaker 1: saw that these people who are working for the New Republic.
- 18:01Speaker 1: But I think it would be more interesting to actually
- 18:04Speaker 1: delve into that in a way that didn't feel so
- 18:09Speaker 1: truncated and you know, maybe not as well done as
- 18:13Speaker 1: we would hope for a story of that magnitude. And
- 18:16Speaker 1: so what I think we're coming to is that, you know,
- 18:21Speaker 1: you just can't, you know, get away from these type
- 18:25Speaker 1: of stories because they I think they do give us
- 18:28Speaker 1: the opportunity to see how, you know, our heroes differ
- 18:34Speaker 1: from those that they fought right and those and how
- 18:38Speaker 1: they treat those who were on the other side. I
- 18:40Speaker 1: think there's a lot of great storytelling for that.
- 18:44Speaker 2: I think you're right, because the we could see the
- 18:48Speaker 2: birth of the rehabilitation program in a sense by we
- 18:54Speaker 2: see everybody celebrating in the Ewoks playing the helmets as
- 19:00Speaker 2: part of the music, and then the camera just sort
- 19:02Speaker 2: of scans down and there's a slightly lower level where
- 19:06Speaker 2: all of the guys whose helmets those are. I know,
- 19:09Speaker 2: I know, we love to joke that the Ewoks ate
- 19:10Speaker 2: them and stuff like that, but those guys, they're the
- 19:14Speaker 2: ones sitting down there. And you have Rex saying, hey, look,
- 19:20Speaker 2: there's a lot of mess out there. You willing to
- 19:22Speaker 2: give this a shot cleaning up? And you can have
- 19:25Speaker 2: that discussion. It's the same day you guys just beat us.
- 19:29Speaker 2: You're reaching out your hand and Rex saying, if somebody
- 19:32Speaker 2: hadn't reached out her hand to me at the worst
- 19:34Speaker 2: possible moment, I wouldn't have been where I am. And
- 19:38Speaker 2: I owe it to her to help you guys if
- 19:43Speaker 2: you want it. And we are following people who chose
- 19:46Speaker 2: in that moment to say, yeah, you know what, what
- 19:48Speaker 2: have I got to lose?
- 19:50Speaker 1: Well, and I think the beauty of this is a
- 19:51Speaker 1: storytelling structure, right, Is that just like the bad Batch did.
- 19:55Speaker 1: This allows us to be able to tell larger stories
- 19:58Speaker 1: within the Star Wars galaxy. Right, You know that these
- 20:00Speaker 1: guys that are being rehabilitated with Rex are then a
- 20:06Speaker 1: part of storylines that help us understand the formation of
- 20:12Speaker 1: the New Republic and all that kind of stuff like
- 20:16Speaker 1: and they get to beat heroes that are much easier
- 20:18Speaker 1: to do again in animation, where whether it's Luke or
- 20:21Speaker 1: Han or Lea or Chewy or other characters like that.
- 20:25Speaker 1: Right that it just it allows you to play with
- 20:29Speaker 1: all of those toys in the sandbox without having to
- 20:32Speaker 1: worry about how much money do we have to spend
- 20:34Speaker 1: to try and do this in live action. And you
- 20:39Speaker 1: know that's one of the things that we've talked about
- 20:41Speaker 1: many times. In fact, we were even just talked about
- 20:43Speaker 1: it on our last episode. Right that the animation has
- 20:47Speaker 1: really in many ways become the glue of Star Wars,
- 20:51Speaker 1: where it is bringing together some disparate elements, right and
- 20:56Speaker 1: trying to make sense of it. Because Star Wars has
- 20:59Speaker 1: always been in a continuously told story. Is it is
- 21:03Speaker 1: an alternate history of a galaxy far far away, right,
- 21:07Speaker 1: and everything is interconnected in a way that helps tell
- 21:10Speaker 1: the larger hole, you know, And so I think by
- 21:15Speaker 1: telling this story it allows them to be able to
- 21:19Speaker 1: do that alongside of something like what we've been getting
- 21:23Speaker 1: in Mando, right, it's another opportunity to kind of try
- 21:27Speaker 1: and sew together the Star Wars galaxy.
- 21:32Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, you know, I think I think it's something
- 21:35Speaker 2: to work on, and I think that it's something that
- 21:38Speaker 2: could really be interesting because it is coming from a
- 21:44Speaker 2: different angle where you're not starting with the good guys,
- 21:49Speaker 2: but you can go on a path where they become
- 21:52Speaker 2: them and they find their way to it and we
- 21:57Speaker 2: can see what I think is that hopeful note that
- 22:01Speaker 2: persists throughout Star Wars, that the larger bend of the
- 22:05Speaker 2: galaxy of history of life is to end up toward
- 22:11Speaker 2: something a little better that even though you go through
- 22:15Speaker 2: difficult moments, the better future is always there and you
- 22:20Speaker 2: can't you can't give up on it. And like again,
- 22:23Speaker 2: you could have Rex saying that same thing when they
- 22:26Speaker 2: get down trodden. You know, Rex comes in for that
- 22:28Speaker 2: special episode where he goes, I've been where you are, man,
- 22:31Speaker 2: I understand I'd go I had to go to ground
- 22:33Speaker 2: and hide and it wasn't until you know, they found
- 22:36Speaker 2: me again while I was on an old converted ad
- 22:38Speaker 2: at wandering through the wilderness, that I suddenly knew it
- 22:42Speaker 2: was time to come back in yeah and yeah and
- 22:45Speaker 2: have those references there.
- 22:46Speaker 1: Well, And you know, I think the other thing about
- 22:49Speaker 1: this that that I think really works is that George
- 22:53Speaker 1: was very keen that Star Wars stories were bastion of
- 23:00Speaker 1: good morals, meanings and messages.
- 23:03Speaker 3: Right.
- 23:03Speaker 1: He was very keen on this idea, and all of
- 23:07Speaker 1: his stories, in some way, shape or form do that.
- 23:10Speaker 1: And I think what our world needs more than anything
- 23:14Speaker 1: right now is that we need to show people that
- 23:19Speaker 1: find a path to redemption, right, find paths to forgiveness.
- 23:26Speaker 1: And our world is in desperate need of being reminded
- 23:29Speaker 1: that what we all need most is redemption.
- 23:34Speaker 3: Right.
- 23:35Speaker 1: We've all done things that we're not proud of, every
- 23:38Speaker 1: one of us, and and so for us to be
- 23:41Speaker 1: able to find that is really important. I think this
- 23:46Speaker 1: could be a show that really does that. And so
- 23:48Speaker 1: in all honesty, I think, as we've talked about this,
- 23:54Speaker 1: I truly believe that this is a story idea that
- 23:57Speaker 1: we should sell the to Dave Filoni. So guess we
- 24:00Speaker 1: better call him and just get on it right now.
- 24:05Speaker 1: And I think it. Yeah, I think we've got a
- 24:07Speaker 1: great show for him. Here at Animation, we've got a
- 24:10Speaker 1: new show for you, guys.
- 24:12Speaker 2: I think it's great. And in fact, if they want
- 24:14Speaker 2: to reach out to you and discuss the terms of
- 24:17Speaker 2: our being hired Matt as showrunners for this, even though
- 24:21Speaker 2: neither one of us has any idea what a showrunner does,
- 24:24Speaker 2: I think we'd be great at it. Anyway, I think
- 24:26Speaker 2: we'd be excellent at it. I don't know what Hey,
- 24:28Speaker 2: look at me, I'm throwing around an industry term showrunner. Bang,
- 24:31Speaker 2: there you go. I know what I'm doing. There you go.
- 24:33Speaker 2: But if they wanted to reach out to you about
- 24:34Speaker 2: the details for our contract, where could they find you online?
- 24:37Speaker 1: Well, you could find me all over social media onner
- 24:39Speaker 1: the name Matt Rushing zero two. So hit me up there, Lucas,
- 24:42Speaker 1: Phil John and I ready for work. You can also
- 24:44Speaker 1: find me here on the Nerd Party network doing another
- 24:46Speaker 1: show called Outposts, talk about every single chapter of the
- 24:49Speaker 1: Harry Potter series one chapter of Time. And I'm also
- 24:51Speaker 1: on the TFM network doing a bunch of shows once
- 24:53Speaker 1: called the six oh two Club, talking about all of
- 24:57Speaker 1: the franchises we love. John's a frequent guest over there.
- 24:59Speaker 1: Plus you can find me with a lot of great
- 25:01Speaker 1: star trek talk there too, with my good friend Chris Jones.
- 25:04Speaker 1: But John, if people wanted to, you know, contact you
- 25:07Speaker 1: and you get us a job with Lucasfilm, where can
- 25:09Speaker 1: they find you?
- 25:10Speaker 2: Well, you can find me out there as kessel Junkie
- 25:13Speaker 2: over at kesseljunkie dot com or on your social network
- 25:16Speaker 2: of choice. My preferred ones are Letterboxed and good Reads.
- 25:21Speaker 2: Please join me over there. I am active on a
- 25:23Speaker 2: few others, but you know, catches catch can mostly a lurker,
- 25:27Speaker 2: And of course you can find me here on the network,
- 25:29Speaker 2: co hosting another show called house Lights with Tristan Riddell
- 25:33Speaker 2: and Darren Moser, where we talk about movies that are
- 25:36Speaker 2: not Star Wars, because I would probably reach through the
- 25:40Speaker 2: screen and slap them for some of the thoughts that
- 25:42Speaker 2: they have about that. So, Matt, all of that said,
- 25:46Speaker 2: I can very clearly see that somebody is signaling that
- 25:51Speaker 2: we need to go back and sign a contract back
- 25:53Speaker 2: at the Temple. So I think it's time to close
- 25:55Speaker 2: these negotiations.
- 25:57Speaker 1: John, negotiations are closed. Join the Revolution, Join the Nerd Party.
