- 0:48Speaker 4: the next one right now, Come on, yo, boutlet cap
- 0:54Speaker 4: podcast man.
- 0:55Speaker 1: Special guests in here. My guy Reason is back, Yes, yes,
- 0:58Speaker 1: finally after Yeah, he missed the podcast when he rolled
- 1:02Speaker 1: out porches, but he's here. Two years later. Welcome sir,
- 1:05Speaker 1: I apologize about that. It's all good, man, it's all good.
- 1:08Speaker 1: You had a lot going on, yeah I did. I
- 1:09Speaker 1: had a lot on the messiest album out of all time.
- 1:11Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, but we're here. How you been, man, I've
- 1:15Speaker 1: been good. I've been good.
- 1:16Speaker 2: Just rebuilding, you know, finalizing the team, finalizing projects. I'm
- 1:21Speaker 2: trying to drop three this year, so I just been working.
- 1:23Speaker 2: Like I was telling my manager Jy, like I'm exhausted,
- 1:26Speaker 2: but a good exhausted, like not not like burnt out.
- 1:28Speaker 1: So yeah, I mean for you is that kind of
- 1:30Speaker 1: like it's got to feel good to be like I
- 1:32Speaker 1: can put out three albums this year and it's up.
- 1:34Speaker 2: To you, right, it's up to me. And knowing that,
- 1:36Speaker 2: like if I wanted to come out, it'll come out.
- 1:40Speaker 2: It's like little things like I was. I was talking
- 1:42Speaker 2: to the team and like when we dropped out of
- 1:43Speaker 2: joint with Bo's not what you think, that was the
- 1:46Speaker 2: first joint that I've ever dropped that wasn't at least
- 1:48Speaker 2: a year old. So that was crazy for me, Like
- 1:51Speaker 2: I've never put out a song that wasn't at least
- 1:53Speaker 2: like at least a year at least a year, like,
- 1:55Speaker 2: so I was still emotionally connected with it. Cause that's
- 1:57Speaker 2: one of the things, like whenever I would drop music,
- 1:58Speaker 2: it would be hard to talk about me because I
- 2:00Speaker 2: wasn't even that person anymore.
- 2:02Speaker 1: You know, It's crazy people don't realize like artists they
- 2:06Speaker 1: I guy, what you call demoitis is that in yea
- 2:09Speaker 1: where you get tired of your own ship hasn't heard it.
- 2:12Speaker 2: You either get tired of your own ship or you
- 2:14Speaker 2: hear it one way so long that then when it's
- 2:16Speaker 2: about to come out, the label might like make a
- 2:19Speaker 2: last minute change to it, and now you hate it
- 2:21Speaker 2: because you're like or you're like, no, I like the original.
- 2:23Speaker 1: I like the original, or the fans don't know but
- 2:25Speaker 1: the fans don't know.
- 2:25Speaker 2: Or you figure out you couldn't clear the sample, you
- 2:27Speaker 2: got to remake the sample, and now you hate the record,
- 2:29Speaker 2: but they love it, but you hate it.
- 2:30Speaker 1: And it's like, yeah, that's got to be refreshing, man,
- 2:33Speaker 1: Yeah it feels. It feels good for you. Man. So
- 2:36Speaker 1: are you strictly independent? Do you got a distro situation? Like?
- 2:39Speaker 2: What is I got like a partnership distro situation? A
- 2:42Speaker 2: lot of distros came to me It was funny because
- 2:45Speaker 2: a lot of labels like right when I left, of course,
- 2:48Speaker 2: like I had a lot of deals on the table,
- 2:50Speaker 2: but they were all just like throwing money my way.
- 2:52Speaker 2: But I just kept telling them like, bro, I just
- 2:55Speaker 2: got to like the last thing I want to do
- 2:57Speaker 2: is you know when money comes long term, I'm like,
- 3:00Speaker 2: why would I go into another situation like that? But yeah,
- 3:03Speaker 2: like a partnership distroal situation though, yeah, one that's like
- 3:07Speaker 2: under Next Records. So yeah, Next Records. I think they
- 3:10Speaker 2: got like Bennie the Butcher Davies, like a few people
- 3:13Speaker 2: that's in that pocket. So that was another thing that
- 3:14Speaker 2: interests me because it's kind of like in the wave
- 3:16Speaker 2: of kind of what I wanted to do.
- 3:18Speaker 1: Speaking of waves, wave shout out to my mama. Yeah,
- 3:23Speaker 1: I appreciate it, yo, Uh talk to me like for you, man,
- 3:27Speaker 1: what is the last couple of years been like? Because
- 3:29Speaker 1: I feel like you probably found out one who like
- 3:33Speaker 1: some of your real friends are and who were just
- 3:36Speaker 1: like showing the street man, what was the process like
- 3:40Speaker 1: going through that? Man?
- 3:42Speaker 2: I was talking to my brother about that ship, like
- 3:45Speaker 2: I didn't see that coming. There were certain relationships. There
- 3:47Speaker 2: were certain relationships that I didn't know were as strong
- 3:50Speaker 2: as they were, Like I left, and then we became
- 3:54Speaker 2: even closer and tighter and people reached out and was
- 3:56Speaker 2: just like, yo, you know, I just want to let
- 3:58Speaker 2: you know, like you know, I fuck with you, our
- 3:59Speaker 2: rock with you, like you've always been solid. You know,
- 4:01Speaker 2: we locked in, And so I had more of those
- 4:03Speaker 2: than the other way around. But then there were certain
- 4:05Speaker 2: relationships where him like niggas un followed me like yeah,
- 4:09Speaker 2: like it's followed me like don't answer the phone no more,
- 4:12Speaker 2: and I'm just like all right, bet. But I always
- 4:14Speaker 2: look at stuff like that as a blessing because it's
- 4:16Speaker 2: it's better to kind of know than to you know,
- 4:19Speaker 2: have a situation where you know, people just if they
- 4:22Speaker 2: feel like they got to choose side, which I've always
- 4:24Speaker 2: tried to like tread the line of making people not
- 4:26Speaker 2: feel like they have to choose sides and telling the
- 4:28Speaker 2: story in a way to where you know, people don't
- 4:31Speaker 2: feel that way, but if they feel like they got
- 4:32Speaker 2: a cheoe sides, people choose sides. And there's just certain
- 4:34Speaker 2: relationships that I had where it's still love on my end,
- 4:38Speaker 2: but I could tell that it was like, oh, so
- 4:39Speaker 2: you was just fucking with me because I.
- 4:40Speaker 1: Was TD, you know what I mean, which is it's
- 4:42Speaker 1: all good. Was there anybody with TD that like they
- 4:45Speaker 1: used to keep in contact with?
- 4:48Speaker 2: I still I still talk to Ray and then I'll
- 4:52Speaker 2: still talk to DOCIH shout out to Doci. She's going
- 4:55Speaker 2: fucking insane. Yeah, but I knew that was the day
- 4:57Speaker 2: I met Doci. I told Moose, was like, she's fucking
- 5:01Speaker 2: like yeah, Like I think.
- 5:04Speaker 1: You were there when she had a little like introduction
- 5:06Speaker 1: to LA party where she performed and it was like
- 5:09Speaker 1: some airplanes shure, yeah, yep, yep. I was just like,
- 5:12Speaker 1: what the nah, bro?
- 5:13Speaker 2: Like the the thing about Dochi that's so special, bro,
- 5:16Speaker 2: is that if you like, from the day I met her,
- 5:18Speaker 2: if you have a conversation, she's always talking like long term,
- 5:21Speaker 2: like she's always she was always thinking like nine steps ahead,
- 5:25Speaker 2: and to be that young black woman in this industry
- 5:29Speaker 2: where it's at right now because the best time for
- 5:31Speaker 2: black women also talented and to have like that type
- 5:34Speaker 2: of mind, I was just like, yeah, she's out of here,
- 5:36Speaker 2: you know what I mean. So those are probably the
- 5:38Speaker 2: only two though that I still like keep in contact with.
- 5:41Speaker 2: If I run into niggas though it's love and I
- 5:43Speaker 2: just running a start not too long ago. Yeah racist, yeah, yeah,
- 5:47Speaker 2: she was so purpose.
- 5:48Speaker 1: I feel like it's crazy, like how she rolled out
- 5:50Speaker 1: her career because she like this new album is like
- 5:53Speaker 1: really like a boombab rap album. Yeah yeah, but like
- 5:56Speaker 1: her biggest record prior to this was the what it
- 5:58Speaker 1: is before that, it was The Persuasion.
- 6:01Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what I tell people, bro, It's like her
- 6:04Speaker 2: her bag is like I genuinely believe. And I see
- 6:08Speaker 2: some of her fans, so the dochik don't come from
- 6:10Speaker 2: me but I because they hate comparing. But I genuinely
- 6:13Speaker 2: believe she's gonna be like as big as Beyonce in
- 6:15Speaker 2: the Rap. I genuinely yeah. I literally have said that.
- 6:19Speaker 2: I think she's going to be there. There will be
- 6:21Speaker 2: a day where she's the biggest artist on the planet.
- 6:23Speaker 1: Yeah. I mean she had my Alma of the Year
- 6:24Speaker 1: last year. A lot of people want, you're fucking crazy.
- 6:27Speaker 1: I'm like, well, you haven't heard the album. And then
- 6:28Speaker 1: all of a sudden, the Grammy buzz starts rolling and
- 6:30Speaker 1: everybody gets hip and then that fucking uh she did that?
- 6:34Speaker 4: Uh?
- 6:34Speaker 1: DENIALA is the river with the Yeah, kids, that shit's over. TikTok.
- 6:40Speaker 1: Yeah wow Yeah for you man. You said, you know
- 6:44Speaker 1: when when you when you came in, you were like
- 6:46Speaker 1: kind of had to get away a little bit. Was there,
- 6:47Speaker 1: like a like a reset you had to go through
- 6:49Speaker 1: because I feel like you've had like a you've had
- 6:52Speaker 1: like a great career for an artist, especially someone who
- 6:56Speaker 1: makes fucking real ship, you know what I'm saying, But
- 6:58Speaker 1: like rap rap music of get thrown in the blender
- 7:01Speaker 1: in terms of like leaving TDE and some of the
- 7:03Speaker 1: shit that was out there were like like how did
- 7:05Speaker 1: you kind of prepare yourself mentally for like this new
- 7:08Speaker 1: era of your career.
- 7:11Speaker 2: I definitely had to hit a reset. I was living
- 7:14Speaker 2: like too close. I call it, like living in your
- 7:16Speaker 2: work when you live in like Hollywood and shit like that,
- 7:18Speaker 2: you know what I mean. Yeah, so it's like everywhere
- 7:21Speaker 2: you go, you know what I mean, It's just like
- 7:23Speaker 2: music or entertainment shit, you know what I mean. So
- 7:25Speaker 2: kind of moved out a little bit east and whatnot.
- 7:27Speaker 2: And then I just got back like in the studio alone,
- 7:30Speaker 2: like just on some studio shit, like trying to rEFInd
- 7:33Speaker 2: the love.
- 7:33Speaker 1: For it because I had lost the love for it.
- 7:35Speaker 2: It started feeling like I was like just clocking into work,
- 7:38Speaker 2: like when I would go to the studio at the
- 7:40Speaker 2: TD Base, like I would feel like literally, I started
- 7:43Speaker 2: feeling like when I had a job, like Okay, I'm
- 7:45Speaker 2: here and I'll be looking at the clock like how
- 7:47Speaker 2: many more hours of my session?
- 7:48Speaker 1: You know what I mean.
- 7:49Speaker 2: And so when you're when you're in a creative job
- 7:51Speaker 2: and you feel that way, it's never gonna go well
- 7:54Speaker 2: because your mind got to be in a certain space
- 7:56Speaker 2: to even want to create, you know what I mean.
- 7:58Speaker 1: And so it's funny.
- 8:00Speaker 2: I was talking to my boy about it, and I
- 8:01Speaker 2: was sending him the ship from me and Kas's project
- 8:04Speaker 2: coming out, and he was like, bro, you got like
- 8:06Speaker 2: way better. And I told him, I was like, I
- 8:07Speaker 2: don't think I got way better. I just think I
- 8:09Speaker 2: started liking it again, you know what I mean. I
- 8:11Speaker 2: started liking doing music again. So I wasn't kind of
- 8:13Speaker 2: just punching the clock anymore and just kind of getting by.
- 8:16Speaker 1: Yeah, you love what you do, You're better at You're
- 8:19Speaker 1: just better at it. You get what I'm saying, You're
- 8:20Speaker 1: just better at it.
- 8:21Speaker 2: And I think that you know that RESET really helped
- 8:24Speaker 2: me I got away from I wasn't kicking it, you know,
- 8:27Speaker 2: at industry places no more. I wasn't kicking it with
- 8:29Speaker 2: artists nomore. I was just with the homies, you know
- 8:31Speaker 2: what I mean. And then when I was in the studio,
- 8:32Speaker 2: I was just with my engineer, Kaitel, and we was
- 8:35Speaker 2: just like throwing shit at the wall. Don't We're not
- 8:37Speaker 2: looking for a single. We're not looking for We're just
- 8:39Speaker 2: looking to just like get shit off, you know what
- 8:41Speaker 2: I mean. And so wrote out all of my feelings,
- 8:43Speaker 2: the feelings that I can't, you know, necessarily talk about
- 8:46Speaker 2: about everything that happened, just to get those out, and
- 8:49Speaker 2: then started falling back in love with it.
- 8:50Speaker 1: And yeah, so yeah, yeah, I mean that's one thing
- 8:53Speaker 1: that you kind of mentioned in passing. Obviously, you and Cosben,
- 8:57Speaker 1: you guys had my favorite song on the on the
- 8:59Speaker 1: Dreamville project. Thank you. I appreciate that. Yeah, I know
- 9:02Speaker 1: the fans have been waiting to see what's gonna happen
- 9:05Speaker 1: with this, Yeah, year, long time. The theory of an
- 9:08Speaker 1: album between you two, Yeah, yeah, it's it's it's one
- 9:11Speaker 1: hundred percent coming. It's probably a lot easier to make
- 9:13Speaker 1: happen now, to be quite yeah, yeah, and Coz has
- 9:16Speaker 1: some label situations, not with Dreamville but with Interscope if
- 9:19Speaker 1: I can't say that cause I'm sorry, but he's he's
- 9:22Speaker 1: figured that out now too.
- 9:23Speaker 2: So now it's like super easy, you know what I mean?
- 9:26Speaker 2: And uh, same thing with us Bro. We had like
- 9:29Speaker 2: forty five records, and because every time we would lock
- 9:31Speaker 2: in for like three months and do some records, then
- 9:34Speaker 2: we would.
- 9:34Speaker 1: Hit a wall, you know what I mean.
- 9:36Speaker 2: And then it was on my end, I'm like, okay,
- 9:37Speaker 2: I know with TD, I'm probably only gonna drop once
- 9:39Speaker 2: every two to three years. Do I want to waste
- 9:42Speaker 2: my drop with cause, like you know what I mean.
- 9:43Speaker 2: So it was always a thing like that. And then
- 9:45Speaker 2: with Kas, same thing, you know, with him, not the length,
- 9:47Speaker 2: but just like him being like okay time and wise
- 9:50Speaker 2: does it make sense? But now with me independent with
- 9:52Speaker 2: him like basically independent, it's super easy. Like the track
- 9:55Speaker 2: list is basically locked in. We're just finishing up a
- 9:58Speaker 2: couple of loose strings kind of like concept. No, actually
- 10:02Speaker 2: it's funny because we actually like it sounds a lot
- 10:04Speaker 2: different than I think people are gonna like assume it
- 10:08Speaker 2: a sound.
- 10:08Speaker 1: It's it's super fun.
- 10:09Speaker 2: It's a lot of raps of course, but we got
- 10:12Speaker 2: like a lot of records that like, it sounds like
- 10:14Speaker 2: very very much LA. And I think that's different because
- 10:17Speaker 2: me and Cos both don't necessarily sarirely have like the
- 10:19Speaker 2: typical LA sound, right, Yeah, but it sounds very LA
- 10:23Speaker 2: and it's it's a fun album. We had a lot
- 10:25Speaker 2: of fun making this ship over the years, for real,
- 10:28Speaker 2: Like we got some of my favorite records I've even
- 10:29Speaker 2: ever made period on this album.
- 10:31Speaker 1: So yeah, you put Ransom and Coyote on a song together,
- 10:34Speaker 1: which is so awesome and random and random is Ransom
- 10:39Speaker 1: is like one of the most prolific independent rappers bro ever,
- 10:43Speaker 1: Like this guy is a fucking beast.
- 10:45Speaker 2: Yeah, shout out my Doug Ransom mixtape.
- 10:47Speaker 1: Legend, Independent Legend, and the Coyote obviously on the new
- 10:50Speaker 1: side of the La Ship. They're going crazy.
- 10:52Speaker 2: Yeah, I gotta, I gotta my schedule being crazy. We're
- 10:55Speaker 2: shooting a video for it. But I also got to
- 10:57Speaker 2: you know, they go crazy with the content. I need
- 10:58Speaker 2: to catch up with them and they go crazy.
- 11:01Speaker 1: Have the best videos in the game. Crazy independent bro.
- 11:04Speaker 2: They be having mariachi bands behind them in the Instagram videos,
- 11:09Speaker 2: like full blown and these are like real Mexicans, Like
- 11:13Speaker 2: these are real Mexicans with the hats playing it Like
- 11:15Speaker 2: that ship is crazy to me, bro, Like they.
- 11:17Speaker 1: Do not play with the content is something like because
- 11:20Speaker 1: I because I knew them when they were signed with
- 11:22Speaker 1: Whack Yep, and they've kind of gotten into this like
- 11:26Speaker 1: funk where they couldn't release when they were kind of similar, right,
- 11:30Speaker 1: so then they just started dropping it on Instagram and
- 11:33Speaker 1: that's when I just saw the flips and yeah, all
- 11:37Speaker 1: of that. Yeah, and then everything they do is on
- 11:39Speaker 1: the phone. Yeah. Yeah, bro, that ship is crazy. But
- 11:41Speaker 1: people would think that they have like a content, it's not.
- 11:44Speaker 1: It's like it's like Guapo and and they're just they
- 11:48Speaker 1: they do their own ship. They just do their own cut. Yeah.
- 11:51Speaker 2: No, they're they're super They're super inspiring to me because
- 11:53Speaker 2: they like so everything about me and Coyote's relationship is random.
- 11:57Speaker 2: Like I met them in the barbershop and didn't even
- 11:59Speaker 2: know they do me at first, and then well the
- 12:01Speaker 2: that's what I'm saying, Like, yeah, so they cut next
- 12:03Speaker 2: to my barber at the time, and then like.
- 12:07Speaker 1: Something ended up coming up in conversation.
- 12:09Speaker 2: I was like, y'all do music and I was like,
- 12:10Speaker 2: send me some shit, and then they were hard and
- 12:12Speaker 2: I'm like all right, bet, And then i started following
- 12:13Speaker 2: them on the Gram and I'm seeing the video. I'm like,
- 12:15Speaker 2: all these niggas is like crazy. So I met him
- 12:17Speaker 2: like when they were still signed the Whack but started
- 12:19Speaker 2: doing the videos and so I'm like, okay, they actually fired.
- 12:22Speaker 2: So we did that record a while ago, but we
- 12:25Speaker 2: did it before Porches actually, so yeah, definitely a while ago.
- 12:27Speaker 2: And I was gonna put it on Porches but ended
- 12:30Speaker 2: up holding back off of it, and then they were
- 12:32Speaker 2: about to put it out and I told them that
- 12:34Speaker 2: they could, but then we talked about doing this project,
- 12:36Speaker 2: so I was like hold on. So yeah, it ended
- 12:38Speaker 2: up working out. And then Ransom I actually met him
- 12:40Speaker 2: through my engineer, and I just I wanted another rapper
- 12:44Speaker 2: on it.
- 12:44Speaker 1: I don't know why.
- 12:45Speaker 2: I just felt like a posse cut and so yeah,
- 12:47Speaker 2: but it worked though, and they versus they smoked it.
- 12:49Speaker 1: They smoked it. Yeah. Are you already kind of like
- 12:52Speaker 1: like honed in on your album, like in terms of
- 12:55Speaker 1: like is it like kind of coming together?
- 12:58Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 12:58Speaker 2: Yeah, So like so so it's funny, like I know
- 13:01Speaker 2: everybody's calling this one album, but it's really a mixtape,
- 13:03Speaker 2: and I mean like not like everybody says, oh, I'm
- 13:05Speaker 2: dropping a mixtape and then it's like an album. Like
- 13:07Speaker 2: when you hear it, it's like a mixtape. You can
- 13:09Speaker 2: hear you hear me talking to the fans. It's really
- 13:12Speaker 2: a thank you to the fans. And it's probably something
- 13:14Speaker 2: I'm gonna do continuously between albums. So it's really kind
- 13:17Speaker 2: of like a life update, kind of like Little Wayne
- 13:19Speaker 2: did with the dedications when he was stopping. Just talks
- 13:21Speaker 2: like that. But album wise, yeah, I'm probably like sixty
- 13:24Speaker 2: percent done. I'm kind of like in feature mode, trying
- 13:26Speaker 2: to figure out what features I want, figuring out like Okay,
- 13:29Speaker 2: what do we want the singles to be. I already
- 13:31Speaker 2: have a concept and so yeah, I'm probably like sixty
- 13:35Speaker 2: sixty five percent done, but that won't come out till
- 13:37Speaker 2: that'd be the last project this year, so that'd be
- 13:39Speaker 2: like my first independent like solo album, you know what
- 13:43Speaker 2: I mean since the split stuff like that.
- 13:45Speaker 1: Man, Yeah, yeah, how have the fans been because there
- 13:48Speaker 1: are a certain amount of fans who are kind of
- 13:51Speaker 1: just like cult members with TD for sure, with your
- 13:53Speaker 1: benefit from yeah, of course, of course, right away. But
- 13:56Speaker 1: then I'm sure there's also a portion of those fans
- 13:58Speaker 1: who might back up off you once you leave the label.
- 14:00Speaker 1: Is that something or have the fans.
- 14:02Speaker 2: Solid Honestly, the fans have been The fans have been
- 14:05Speaker 2: like consistent all the way throughout, like the fans that
- 14:08Speaker 2: didn't because you know, there's TV there's a wide number
- 14:11Speaker 2: of TD fans, and there's TD fans that they don't
- 14:13Speaker 2: like any artists besides the Big Four, you know what
- 14:17Speaker 2: I'm saying, and then there's artists that you know, they
- 14:19Speaker 2: only fans that they only, like I said, were shot
- 14:21Speaker 2: or whatever. So the only the fans that didn't like
- 14:24Speaker 2: me before they were consistent, and they still don't like me,
- 14:26Speaker 2: because when you saw with TD, there's gonna be TD
- 14:28Speaker 2: fans that don't fuck with you.
- 14:29Speaker 1: It's just how it works.
- 14:30Speaker 2: But the fans have been pretty The only fans I
- 14:32Speaker 2: really lost were fans that I shot myself in the
- 14:34Speaker 2: foot in But I had to do that to get
- 14:37Speaker 2: out of the the label deal. When the when the
- 14:39Speaker 2: Dot and the Drake beef started, I felt like topping
- 14:43Speaker 2: them were kind of like dragging their feet a little bit.
- 14:45Speaker 1: I don't think purposely.
- 14:46Speaker 2: I just think they had a lot of shit going on,
- 14:48Speaker 2: and I knew that if I kind of like sparked
- 14:49Speaker 2: a fire a little bit, that they'd be like, we
- 14:51Speaker 2: got to separate from this. So I kind of like
- 14:52Speaker 2: started tweeting shit on the side of Drake purposely because
- 14:55Speaker 2: I saw how how yeah, so there's fans that hate.
- 14:58Speaker 1: Me for that? And wait, wait, what was the main
- 15:01Speaker 1: the main tweet that fans hated you for they hated
- 15:04Speaker 1: me when I remember that was just like you just
- 15:08Speaker 1: like yeah, this is crazy. But I was purposely doing it.
- 15:10Speaker 2: So I was talking to my boy LTA and he
- 15:11Speaker 2: was like, bro, you got to turn it up if
- 15:12Speaker 2: you want to get out of here in this year,
- 15:14Speaker 2: Like this is gonna drag, Like I know how because
- 15:16Speaker 2: he's the lawyer. He does contracts, Like I know how
- 15:18Speaker 2: this ship works, Bro, it should have take two and
- 15:20Speaker 2: a half years unless you turn it up. So I tweeted, uh,
- 15:23Speaker 2: it was right after Push Ups Drop. I tweeted like
- 15:26Speaker 2: y'all hating this beat switch up his fire and then
- 15:28Speaker 2: I like let it sit for like ten minutes and
- 15:30Speaker 2: deleted it. It went crazy and then you know what
- 15:32Speaker 2: I mean, And I still had the reason TD So
- 15:34Speaker 2: it looked like insane, right, look like super crazy. So
- 15:38Speaker 2: I tweeted that and then I also I had a
- 15:41Speaker 2: rap radar that I did, I mean, not a rap radar,
- 15:45Speaker 2: the grain room.
- 15:46Speaker 1: Why am I on the radar?
- 15:46Speaker 2: On the radar, Yeah, on the radar that I did
- 15:49Speaker 2: over a drake beat. But this was before the beef
- 15:50Speaker 2: even started.
- 15:51Speaker 1: Wow. So they hit me.
- 15:52Speaker 2: They're like, yo, we was about to drop it, but
- 15:54Speaker 2: we don't want to, you know, damage your situation.
- 15:57Speaker 1: Run that, run it, run it. Let's do it like
- 15:59Speaker 1: run it.
- 15:59Speaker 2: And so that I had like five million views on Twitter,
- 16:02Speaker 2: and it was like mixed reviews, like some people like
- 16:04Speaker 2: this think of gas and this shit fired, don't matter.
- 16:06Speaker 1: Then other people like, what the fuck are you wrapping up?
- 16:08Speaker 1: Because you know, fans think you recorded it today, you
- 16:10Speaker 1: know what I mean. So if it dropped today, you
- 16:12Speaker 1: recorded it today. And so we did that and then
- 16:15Speaker 1: that went viral and kind of ran it. So I
- 16:17Speaker 1: just knew it was sensitive times, and I knew business
- 16:19Speaker 1: wise it would make the most sense for them to
- 16:22Speaker 1: separate from me at that point, you know what I mean.
- 16:24Speaker 2: And that shit worked like a month later. A month later,
- 16:27Speaker 2: I was expeditiously.
- 16:28Speaker 1: It was fast. It was fast.
- 16:30Speaker 2: It was like a month later it was like yo,
- 16:33Speaker 2: we yeah, it's done. So paperwork was in my email.
- 16:35Speaker 4: You.
- 16:36Speaker 1: I feel like when like not to take it back
- 16:39Speaker 1: too far, but yeah, were you purposely when you had
- 16:43Speaker 1: the issue like the whole back on fake situation with
- 16:45Speaker 1: Musa and obviously when viral and was crazy, was that
- 16:48Speaker 1: also on purpose? No, that's just like you just like
- 16:51Speaker 1: that was like to be honest with you.
- 16:53Speaker 2: And so the accountability I take, and I know that
- 16:57Speaker 2: nobody else in that situation takes accountability, but that's okay.
- 17:00Speaker 2: But the accountability I take is that I never watched
- 17:03Speaker 2: anything in that podcast world, so I wasn't familiar with
- 17:07Speaker 2: how they do things. I just knew, like I didn't
- 17:09Speaker 2: know even though Mackwap was gonna be there, Like I
- 17:11Speaker 2: thought I was doing a podcast with a D and Trail.
- 17:14Speaker 2: So I hit a D in his DMS and he
- 17:18Speaker 2: was like, bet, let's do it Monday, And then I
- 17:21Speaker 2: text AD. He didn't answer, so I just hit up
- 17:23Speaker 2: t Reil. I didn't really know Troll like that, but
- 17:24Speaker 2: I assumed that they were doing it together. So I
- 17:27Speaker 2: hit up Trail and Treel was like, bet, yeah, like
- 17:29Speaker 2: you good for Monday, come Monday, not knowing that there's
- 17:31Speaker 2: two different ye.
- 17:34Speaker 1: Exactly.
- 17:34Speaker 2: So when Mackwap walked in the room, I just thought
- 17:36Speaker 2: he was pulling up to kick it. And then when
- 17:38Speaker 2: he sat down, I'm like, oh shit, like AD's.
- 17:40Speaker 1: Not gonna be here. What's going on?
- 17:41Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly, And then I was drinking Herodora and then
- 17:43Speaker 2: like then, So for me, it wasn't on purpose, but
- 17:46Speaker 2: I thought that it was a safe space because Trel's
- 17:49Speaker 2: CU's best friend, Mackwap is qs DJ. I'm thinking, we're
- 17:51Speaker 2: in a TD space and we're never gonna like the
- 17:54Speaker 2: last place we're going to get into this type of
- 17:56Speaker 2: situation is a is a TDE podcast. Like if anything,
- 18:00Speaker 2: we're gonna be protected. You get what I'm saying. Like,
- 18:02Speaker 2: so usually when I do interviews and sit down, so
- 18:04Speaker 2: when now, I'm very aware of what's going on, and
- 18:06Speaker 2: so that's the accountability I take.
- 18:07Speaker 1: I just wasn't aware.
- 18:08Speaker 2: And they started off the pod with like, why are
- 18:11Speaker 2: you dropping out of nowhere? You ain't had no promotion,
- 18:13Speaker 2: and so I already been drinking, and so it just
- 18:15Speaker 2: it kind of you know what I mean, like it
- 18:17Speaker 2: just spiraled or whatever, and Yeah, I just.
- 18:20Speaker 1: I just wasn't. I wasn't.
- 18:21Speaker 2: I didn't have my intentas up you know what I mean.
- 18:22Speaker 2: I didn't read the wrong you know what I mean?
- 18:24Speaker 2: Good enough, and then it spiral. But it was a
- 18:26Speaker 2: tough situation to get to get through. But I tell
- 18:28Speaker 2: people all the time that was the biggest blessing because
- 18:31Speaker 2: I wouldn't have I don't think I would have gotten
- 18:33Speaker 2: out of my contract without that going so public.
- 18:35Speaker 1: You know what. That was crazy? Yeah, it was insane.
- 18:38Speaker 1: One thing I had moosho. I was like, oh wait,
- 18:40Speaker 1: oh no, it went left.
- 18:42Speaker 2: And that's the thing is, mind you, I'm intoxicated the
- 18:44Speaker 2: entire show, So you got to like put yourself in
- 18:47Speaker 2: my shoes. But I've taken like eight Like I could drink,
- 18:51Speaker 2: but I've taken like eight shots at this time. You
- 18:52Speaker 2: get what I'm saying. So when it all goes left,
- 18:55Speaker 2: like I'm not the only thing I knew how to
- 18:57Speaker 2: handle it. The best way is to just kind of
- 18:59Speaker 2: like shut up, you know what I mean, Like as
- 19:02Speaker 2: much as I could, you know, I went back and
- 19:03Speaker 2: forth with them a little bit, but I didn't want
- 19:05Speaker 2: to crash out because the way I would have crashed
- 19:07Speaker 2: out off a liquor would have been like way worse,
- 19:09Speaker 2: you know what I mean.
- 19:10Speaker 1: Yeah, it's interesting because that that uh I guess like
- 19:14Speaker 1: with the streaming dynamic, it's all live.
- 19:16Speaker 2: Yeah, so you can't even fix it. It ain't even
- 19:19Speaker 2: like you can like, yo, hey man, that's not right,
- 19:21Speaker 2: that's not yeah, let's let's just skip to you know
- 19:24Speaker 2: that forty minutes. That's just not It was live, and
- 19:26Speaker 2: so I'm there, I'm seeing the chat go like it's
- 19:29Speaker 2: it was a lot, you know what I mean, it
- 19:30Speaker 2: was it was going crazy, but uh but.
- 19:32Speaker 3: It was it was.
- 19:32Speaker 1: It was.
- 19:33Speaker 2: It wasn't as like, to be honest with you, the
- 19:36Speaker 2: part that that moment didn't like I didn't even leave
- 19:39Speaker 2: the place like super mad or nothing like that. The
- 19:41Speaker 2: part that bothered me the most was just like afterwards,
- 19:45Speaker 2: like you just kind of like what we were talking
- 19:47Speaker 2: about about the relationship, Like you you're in a label
- 19:50Speaker 2: that you feel like his family, and then when something
- 19:52Speaker 2: like that happens and you don't see the family dynamic
- 19:57Speaker 2: of it and you see yourself just kind of get
- 19:58Speaker 2: put on an island. I'm like, oh, this is just business.
- 20:01Speaker 2: So at that point I'm just like I bet that
- 20:03Speaker 2: I don't necessarily need to like basketball.
- 20:05Speaker 1: It's like, what you get traded, You're like, oh, bro,
- 20:07Speaker 1: that's the exact way, and you just like, oh, damn.
- 20:10Speaker 1: Like y'all, y'all like the nigga better than than me
- 20:12Speaker 1: that traded for me. You know, when Luca got traded,
- 20:14Speaker 1: You're like like a d like damn.
- 20:16Speaker 2: Like I've been grabbing boards every night, like you know
- 20:18Speaker 2: what I mean. And so it's kind of like that,
- 20:20Speaker 2: you know what I mean. And so to get put
- 20:22Speaker 2: on the island and it not be I'm used to
- 20:24Speaker 2: family being like, you know, if two people in the
- 20:27Speaker 2: family fight, we keep it in the house. But like
- 20:29Speaker 2: y'all just even if y'all got to catch a fade,
- 20:31Speaker 2: y'all just faded out and then we're good for it
- 20:33Speaker 2: to be like the way that it was. And I
- 20:36Speaker 2: still got love for everybody over there. I just I
- 20:38Speaker 2: just realized it was just an eye open experience. I'm like, oh,
- 20:40Speaker 2: it's just business, and if it's business, then I gotta
- 20:42Speaker 2: do what makes the most sense business for me.
- 20:44Speaker 1: It was kind of like the most like it was
- 20:47Speaker 1: like because TV's like the least messy label for publicly. Sure, Yeah,
- 20:51Speaker 1: and to just kind of have the curtain Like yeah,
- 20:54Speaker 1: I'm like, oh this is not I'm sure. I'm sure
- 20:57Speaker 1: Top was not very happy. Yeah happy, He wasn't happy.
- 21:01Speaker 1: He wasn't happy with me. I can't imagine he wasn't
- 21:03Speaker 1: happy with either.
- 21:04Speaker 2: No, he wasn't He wasn't happy with Yeah, Top, top is.
- 21:06Speaker 2: Top is very is very fair, you know what I mean.
- 21:09Speaker 2: So he wasn't happy with either one of us. And
- 21:11Speaker 2: you know, top is is very much like like you said,
- 21:14Speaker 2: like keep everything in house, you know what I mean?
- 21:18Speaker 1: Exactly exactly. It's literally that we didn't know.
- 21:20Speaker 2: We didn't know time Brady and Bill had anything until
- 21:23Speaker 2: it was over, you get what I'm saying, Like we
- 21:24Speaker 2: had no idea, And that's very much how how Top is.
- 21:27Speaker 2: And honestly, that was what I felt the most bad
- 21:29Speaker 2: for is Like regardless of where me and tops relationship
- 21:34Speaker 2: is now, Like I love Top and I appreciate everything
- 21:36Speaker 2: that Top did for me. Like this is a nigga
- 21:38Speaker 2: that when I was broke, would just give me money
- 21:40Speaker 2: just to keep the lights on, you know what I mean.
- 21:42Speaker 2: So there's no there's almost nothing outside of like you know,
- 21:48Speaker 2: saying something about a family member of mind that Top
- 21:49Speaker 2: could do for me to ever.
- 21:51Speaker 1: Yeah, I think just at this point, like I think
- 21:53Speaker 1: he's it's pretty much like.
- 21:55Speaker 2: It's it's it's like it's it's yeah, he's in the rafters.
- 21:58Speaker 1: But I think I think just you you be. I mean,
- 22:01Speaker 1: when we think about TD you now at this point,
- 22:02Speaker 1: it's like, you know, me and a problem had a
- 22:06Speaker 1: back and forth about a year ago in which I
- 22:11Speaker 1: was arguing that death Row because we were talking about
- 22:15Speaker 1: death Brow. Yeah, and I was on the death Row side.
- 22:17Speaker 1: But I think I'm on the TV side. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 22:21Speaker 1: because when we think about just like because death Row
- 22:23Speaker 1: was like a flash in the pan, right, it was
- 22:25Speaker 1: like like a four year period for real, for real,
- 22:28Speaker 1: like five years tops. But like the TD run is
- 22:32Speaker 1: it's a whole nine you know, with Jay Rock signed
- 22:36Speaker 1: with Warnerton now it's like yeah, and then you know,
- 22:39Speaker 1: if you just think about just like the biggest pop star,
- 22:43Speaker 1: I mean and then Kendrick.
- 22:44Speaker 2: They have the biggest pop star, they have the biggest rapper,
- 22:47Speaker 2: and then the biggest up and coming artists all on
- 22:49Speaker 2: the same label.
- 22:49Speaker 1: It's crazy. It's crazy, you know what I mean.
- 22:51Speaker 2: So yeah, I think top is I mean, in my opinion,
- 22:55Speaker 2: and I could be wrong, but I got them at
- 22:58Speaker 2: either one or two of Label of all time.
- 23:00Speaker 1: I don't think he's number one man. Yeah, yeah, no,
- 23:02Speaker 1: that's what I'm saying.
- 23:03Speaker 2: Like, I don't I don't think that you could really
- 23:04Speaker 2: kind of argue with because I've never seen Like I said,
- 23:07Speaker 2: we obviously don't know anything about behind the scenes and
- 23:09Speaker 2: nothing like that. But but you know, for the most part,
- 23:12Speaker 2: you could kind of point to any Label executive and
- 23:14Speaker 2: be like they did some goofy shit.
- 23:15Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, yeah, you know, think about Russell Simmons. Don't
- 23:19Speaker 1: think too much about him, because then you might then
- 23:21Speaker 1: you're you know, then you like damn or like or
- 23:26Speaker 1: even like Sugar or whoever the fuck you could go
- 23:28Speaker 1: through it even like you know, you know, the dudes
- 23:30Speaker 1: from QC have some you know, uh, the one guy.
- 23:33Speaker 1: But but Top I feel like, fuck man, like he's
- 23:37Speaker 1: I don't know, man, I just and then just like
- 23:39Speaker 1: the one thing about Top I appreciate is he signs
- 23:42Speaker 1: reason he signs, sir, he signs like, he signs, he builds.
- 23:46Speaker 2: You don't have to have the following. Like He's confident
- 23:50Speaker 2: enough that to me, that's what separates him is that
- 23:54Speaker 2: a he has a better musical ear than people give
- 23:56Speaker 2: him credit for. Like I always tell people everything top
- 24:00Speaker 2: ever told me to do musically worked, and everything that
- 24:03Speaker 2: he told me to do that I didn't do, I
- 24:05Speaker 2: ended up wishing I did it, you know what I mean?
- 24:07Speaker 2: And I mean like down to specific songs, taking lines out,
- 24:11Speaker 2: switching beats, like oh, you know, switching flows every single
- 24:15Speaker 2: Actually there's one song I wish I didn't listen to him,
- 24:18Speaker 2: but that's like minor. But yeah, every ding, like his
- 24:20Speaker 2: musical ear is like crazy, you know what I mean.
- 24:23Speaker 2: And so that putting an album together, like understanding when
- 24:27Speaker 2: the album you know, like what fits where, Like he's
- 24:30Speaker 2: super fire at that. And then like you just said,
- 24:33Speaker 2: like the confidence to be like as long as the
- 24:35Speaker 2: artist is dope, yeah, nobody, nobody, Yeah, nobody, nobody. Nobody's
- 24:41Speaker 2: bolded enough to do it that way. Artists developments, Yeah,
- 24:44Speaker 2: so nobody's nobody's bold enough to do it that way.
- 24:46Speaker 2: And I think that's what like completely separates.
- 24:48Speaker 1: I feel like a lot of people don't understand like
- 24:49Speaker 1: the the like Long Trip to Scissors, Control was likesics
- 24:55Speaker 1: Control came out in twenty seventeen, but like there was
- 24:58Speaker 1: this huge like thing about her not dropping music and
- 25:03Speaker 1: and look now and you know they're doing stadiums. It's crazy. Well,
- 25:10Speaker 1: we got to talk about the beef since you brought it? Yeah,
- 25:15Speaker 1: worst el than Jah rup? Is it a bigger is
- 25:18Speaker 1: it a bigger el than jar rule?
- 25:19Speaker 2: I think I think it's too early to say because
- 25:21Speaker 2: Joah's career, I hate even saying this on camera, became
- 25:25Speaker 2: a verb. Yeah, and people said he became a verb
- 25:29Speaker 2: and his career was essentially just over, you know what
- 25:31Speaker 2: I mean. And so I think it's too early to
- 25:33Speaker 2: call it because we don't know if Drake's career is over.
- 25:36Speaker 2: I think that if Drake's career is over, which I don't,
- 25:40Speaker 2: I don't think will happen. To be honest, I think
- 25:42Speaker 2: he's too big. I think he's too big. That's what
- 25:43Speaker 2: I'm trying to say.
- 25:44Speaker 1: So I think I don't. I think, no matter what,
- 25:46Speaker 1: Drake will have a place exactly a certain level of success,
- 25:49Speaker 1: exactly exactly. But I think I think it's an example
- 25:52Speaker 1: of like when the people choose like. For me, I
- 25:56Speaker 1: personally hate the beef, and I only hate the beef
- 25:57Speaker 1: because to me, this had a potential to be like
- 26:02Speaker 1: the most like entertaining beef from like a rap perspective,
- 26:05Speaker 1: like I thought the black thick it was, see, I
- 26:08Speaker 1: don't view with it once once it got too messy
- 26:10Speaker 1: for me. It was like it was it was hard
- 26:12Speaker 1: for me to like which which it was, which rap
- 26:14Speaker 1: beefs are messy, not messy like that though, like when
- 26:17Speaker 1: we start talking about like hitting your significant other and
- 26:19Speaker 1: pedophe Like to me, it crossed the line where I feel,
- 26:23Speaker 1: I feel nasty, you know what I mean, Like the
- 26:26Speaker 1: Nas and jay Z bef got extremely nasty, not pediphid,
- 26:31Speaker 1: dirty cond on NAS's child's baby.
- 26:34Speaker 2: Yeah, but fucking your bitch is always going to be
- 26:36Speaker 2: in rap, Like that's like a thing that's gone, that's
- 26:38Speaker 2: been in rap since the history, you know what I mean,
- 26:40Speaker 2: since the beginning of the time. Like to me, that's
- 26:42Speaker 2: not that crazy. And I don't even mean on doc
- 26:44Speaker 2: I mean on both ends, like well, listen.
- 26:46Speaker 1: On your forury. He kind of told him, like no,
- 26:48Speaker 1: for sure, for sure like at the end of it,
- 26:50Speaker 1: don't find out.
- 26:51Speaker 2: Exactly at the end of the day, like you know,
- 26:53Speaker 2: everything that happened happened for a reason, no pun intended.
- 26:56Speaker 2: But if I just I wanted to see them like
- 27:00Speaker 2: like from a pen standpoint, I wanted to see them
- 27:03Speaker 2: go back and forth like more. And I feel like
- 27:06Speaker 2: it got so messy that it was like neither side
- 27:09Speaker 2: can like go anywhere else, never.
- 27:12Speaker 1: Any coming back from it. And that's what I'm trying
- 27:15Speaker 1: to say, is like like there's never gonna be a
- 27:17Speaker 1: point in time where where they they cool, and like
- 27:19Speaker 1: I wanted to see them and then be like, yo,
- 27:22Speaker 1: there won't.
- 27:24Speaker 2: Record, yeah exactly, and so that's never gonna happen. And
- 27:27Speaker 2: so that's the only part about it that I would
- 27:30Speaker 2: if I could like be the constructor of how it happened,
- 27:32Speaker 2: I would want that just because I'm a fan of both,
- 27:35Speaker 2: you know what I mean. And I think that now
- 27:37Speaker 2: we're at a point where and we're at a point
- 27:39Speaker 2: just in the industry where like everybody it just feel nasty.
- 27:42Speaker 1: Everybody has to choose a side.
- 27:43Speaker 2: And when we're when we're in that space, to me,
- 27:45Speaker 2: we're not like allowing like honesty and authenticity to be
- 27:50Speaker 2: to live.
- 27:51Speaker 1: Like you can't.
- 27:52Speaker 2: You can't be in a space of choosing size and
- 27:54Speaker 2: have honesty in it. You can't be in a space
- 27:55Speaker 2: of choosing size and have authenticity in it because you
- 27:58Speaker 2: have to just stand where you're at, like you know
- 28:01Speaker 2: what I'm saying, and we look at it like Mal's
- 28:02Speaker 2: my guy, but he's all the way on this end.
- 28:04Speaker 1: It's fucking ridiculous.
- 28:05Speaker 2: Malls wildless. And then Joe's my guy, but he's all
- 28:08Speaker 2: the way on this end. It's ridiculous, you know what
- 28:09Speaker 2: I mean. And so there there is no space to
- 28:11Speaker 2: be completely you know what I mean, unbiased and authentic.
- 28:14Speaker 2: By the way, if you just followed me on Twitter,
- 28:16Speaker 2: you would think I was the West Coast mall. But
- 28:19Speaker 2: for Kendrick, you've been going craze so much. The funnest
- 28:22Speaker 2: thing in.
- 28:22Speaker 1: The world on Twitter for me to do right now
- 28:25Speaker 1: is to just throw some red meat to the ov hose.
- 28:29Speaker 1: I just throw I just I just I just bait them. Yeah,
- 28:32Speaker 1: I'll throw a tweet out there and I'll just let
- 28:34Speaker 1: it go. You just watch it. Just it just it
- 28:36Speaker 1: just takes on a life of his own. It's like
- 28:37Speaker 1: these are real people, yeah, bro like and like these
- 28:40Speaker 1: Drake fans, they're like their entire profiles dedicated to this day.
- 28:44Speaker 1: And then they're gonna tweet me about not getting pussy
- 28:48Speaker 1: like you, I don't even know what you look like it's.
- 28:50Speaker 2: Crazy, bro, And then do you so do you know
- 28:53Speaker 2: anybody in real life that's like that?
- 28:54Speaker 1: No? So, No, Actually I have a friend about to
- 28:57Speaker 1: say I who has an Ovo tattoo and he'll and
- 29:00Speaker 1: I've been making fun of him for ten years. Yeah
- 29:01Speaker 1: that's crazy. But now it was like, yeah, after DJ
- 29:04Speaker 1: Yours truly, I'm like, bro, you got a fucking Ovo
- 29:07Speaker 1: owl on your shoulder. Fuck. But no, but there's people
- 29:11Speaker 1: with the song about say so.
- 29:13Speaker 2: I don't know a lot of people like that, but
- 29:15Speaker 2: when you meet it when you when you were when
- 29:17Speaker 2: you are cool with somebody, and then it's like that,
- 29:21Speaker 2: it's like yo, bro, like it's just us here, like
- 29:24Speaker 2: we can talk like like you know what I'm saying,
- 29:25Speaker 2: Like we can have a conversation, you know what I mean. Like,
- 29:27Speaker 2: and that's on both sides, Like I know a couple
- 29:29Speaker 2: of people that's like that on drake'son and I know
- 29:31Speaker 2: you know of course, because I'm you know, I was
- 29:33Speaker 2: with TD. I know a lot of people like that
- 29:35Speaker 2: on on Dots and and it just makes like barbershop
- 29:38Speaker 2: talk not as fun no more.
- 29:40Speaker 1: Like yeah, I mean I think if you're like if
- 29:42Speaker 1: it's like you're either mal or your me. Yeah. I mean, like,
- 29:46Speaker 1: I'll say this about Drake, like obviously, Drake's one of
- 29:48Speaker 1: the greatest rabbers of all time, for sure, biggest hit
- 29:51Speaker 1: maker ever for sure without adult uh. I think that
- 29:55Speaker 1: I've always been pretty critical Drake for sure over the
- 29:59Speaker 1: years that I've always there was always something holding me
- 30:02Speaker 1: back from like me putting him above like a few guys.
- 30:07Speaker 1: And then you know, this Battle just kind of reconfirmed
- 30:09Speaker 1: all those feelings I had.
- 30:11Speaker 2: And I think that that's why a lot of people
- 30:14Speaker 2: chose the side that they chose, is because people have
- 30:16Speaker 2: been having a certain perception or feeling about somebody and
- 30:20Speaker 2: then it's like, like you said, like the Battle highlighted
- 30:23Speaker 2: those things and so people felt I think that they
- 30:25Speaker 2: felt their emotions seen. And the biggest thing I think
- 30:29Speaker 2: that the biggest takeaway that I tell artists with the
- 30:31Speaker 2: Battle is Jaco just releases his podcast series and he
- 30:36Speaker 2: he had he had a line from Dilated People that
- 30:38Speaker 2: he said he kind of lived his career by which
- 30:41Speaker 2: is worse come to worse my people first. And I
- 30:43Speaker 2: think that great record the Alchemists exactly, and I love
- 30:48Speaker 2: like I got relationships on on Drake's camp side as
- 30:52Speaker 2: far as like production, different things like that. But the
- 30:53Speaker 2: one thing that I do feel like as an artist
- 30:55Speaker 2: you could take from that situation is I think Drake
- 30:59Speaker 2: over the years could have done a better job taking
- 31:02Speaker 2: care of his people. Because to me, the difference in
- 31:05Speaker 2: the battle Dot one regardless. So even even to me
- 31:09Speaker 2: music wise, I think Dot put out the better records.
- 31:11Speaker 2: But I think the reason why it got as bad
- 31:12Speaker 2: as it got is because I think over the years
- 31:15Speaker 2: of just being such a big artist, I think Drake
- 31:18Speaker 2: did not take care of his core. So Drake might
- 31:20Speaker 2: have the bigger fan base like overall, but Dot has
- 31:24Speaker 2: the bigger core. And when you are in beefs, your
- 31:28Speaker 2: core is gonna be the one that's gonna like ride
- 31:30Speaker 2: and ignite the fire. And let's say Drake has ten
- 31:33Speaker 2: million fans and not only has five. Well, Dot has
- 31:37Speaker 2: four point five million core fans, and Drake might have
- 31:39Speaker 2: only had like one.
- 31:41Speaker 1: Yeah, it's almost like there's Drake fans that are Drake
- 31:43Speaker 1: fans just passively, That's what I mean. And it's like,
- 31:46Speaker 1: you know, it's almost like if you are a Drake fan,
- 31:50Speaker 1: you might not necessarily you know, most Death got some
- 31:53Speaker 1: hell because he said that Drake made great music to
- 31:56Speaker 1: shop at Target to Yeah, he was out of his mind.
- 31:58Speaker 1: It was hilarious. But like, but that's kind of like
- 32:02Speaker 1: true because there's a lot of people who might just
- 32:04Speaker 1: be shopping at Target. I got what comes on and
- 32:07Speaker 1: you're like, oh, I unders still but they but that
- 32:09Speaker 1: might be the only hip hop artist they listen to, right,
- 32:11Speaker 1: And then you know, you have all these Kendrick fans
- 32:15Speaker 1: who have been like anointing him to be like, oh,
- 32:19Speaker 1: because he for for better or worse, like Kendrick is.
- 32:21Speaker 1: He's been you know, in my opinion, he's been top
- 32:24Speaker 1: five for the last like seven eight years. But somehow
- 32:28Speaker 1: he's also kind of underground for someone who's doing arena
- 32:32Speaker 1: you have the underground feel, yeah, for someone who's still
- 32:34Speaker 1: doing arenas and doing the Black Panther soundtrack and winning
- 32:37Speaker 1: all these Grammys and shit. But he's he's his art first.
- 32:40Speaker 2: He's found a way to keep his feel underground first.
- 32:44Speaker 1: So it's like if he does an entire album like
- 32:46Speaker 1: Missing around the Big Steppers and it's about like therapy
- 32:49Speaker 1: and like looking in the mirror in like this crazy way,
- 32:52Speaker 1: and like most people don't get it, but the fans
- 32:55Speaker 1: who do get it are like, y'all know crazy this
- 32:57Speaker 1: shiite and this battle the way all these like like
- 33:02Speaker 1: YouTubers and TikTokers broke down every single little thing. Everybody
- 33:06Speaker 1: was like, this guy is surgical, and it's like, well,
- 33:08Speaker 1: he's always been he's always been away. Now it's just
- 33:11Speaker 1: you're just seeing him surgically like pick another human being.
- 33:14Speaker 2: A part and like even and and the fans are
- 33:18Speaker 2: having a reason to like spread it even more, you
- 33:22Speaker 2: know what I mean, because because of the stage that
- 33:24Speaker 2: it's on.
- 33:25Speaker 1: Well, now it's like he's the I mean, this is
- 33:27Speaker 1: the I think this is the biggest run we've ever
- 33:28Speaker 1: seen an artist go on. He's got a hundred million
- 33:31Speaker 1: listeners on Spotify, which I mean before he two weeks
- 33:34Speaker 1: in a row. Last week he was the first rapper
- 33:36Speaker 1: to ever get ninety million listeners in a month. This
- 33:38Speaker 1: week is the first rapper to get a hundred million
- 33:40Speaker 1: listeners in a month. And then you know Drake, And
- 33:43Speaker 1: this is the thing about Drake is like Drake's just
- 33:46Speaker 1: I mean, alien level talented, right, But then he puts
- 33:51Speaker 1: out this party next Door album and it's a it
- 33:53Speaker 1: sounds like AI there's just no feeling in it. It's
- 33:57Speaker 1: it's like, I don't know. There's a couple of songs
- 34:01Speaker 1: give me a hug. I like, like, I like, I
- 34:03Speaker 1: like to know kill record, I like, give me a hug.
- 34:05Speaker 1: I like a spider Man a Superman. I personally liked
- 34:08Speaker 1: the album because I know I knew coming out, like
- 34:10Speaker 1: I didn't have felt like a bunch of throwaways from
- 34:12Speaker 1: like twenty thirteen.
- 34:14Speaker 2: That that's I mean, I don't I don't necessarily like agree,
- 34:18Speaker 2: but I can understand why you're saying that, if you
- 34:21Speaker 2: know what I mean. But I like it because I
- 34:25Speaker 2: knew what it was for, Like I knew before it
- 34:27Speaker 2: came out. I put it in the box of like
- 34:29Speaker 2: the Honesty never Mind, which I actually thought was no.
- 34:31Speaker 1: I like honestly never Mind.
- 34:33Speaker 2: Yeah, I thought it was fire too, That's what I'm saying, Like,
- 34:35Speaker 2: so I put it in that box, and so I
- 34:37Speaker 2: didn't come into the I didn't come into listening to it.
- 34:39Speaker 1: I think it's the worst Drakeout ever because I think honestly,
- 34:42Speaker 1: never Mind's better, and you think I think it's the
- 34:46Speaker 1: worst Drakeout member. And I think that's a problem when
- 34:48Speaker 1: you're Drake and you're like, yo, if you're gonna come
- 34:51Speaker 1: out with the slow jams on Valentine's Day, dog, you're
- 34:53Speaker 1: capable of making Marvin's room full, Like not, what have
- 34:56Speaker 1: you been doing the last eight months? Crying? I feel
- 34:58Speaker 1: that like you should be you. I was expecting, like, oh,
- 35:01Speaker 1: Drake's coming with like the hardest R and B shit
- 35:03Speaker 1: we've heard from him ever, because this is this is
- 35:06Speaker 1: his first release for real since See.
- 35:08Speaker 2: But do you feel like that is affecting the way
- 35:10Speaker 2: that you see the album though, because I didn't view
- 35:12Speaker 2: it and will do it twice, like I didn't view
- 35:14Speaker 2: it like this is going to be the hardest RB
- 35:16Speaker 2: you get.
- 35:16Speaker 1: I'm staring on with my wife in the car, and
- 35:20Speaker 1: three songs in, she was like, this is new Drake.
- 35:24Speaker 1: This sucks Jesus Christ. And I was like night with
- 35:28Speaker 1: even dinner. I'm like, oh, the new Drake came out.
- 35:30Speaker 1: I was throwing on. She's like this is new. I'm like, yeah,
- 35:34Speaker 1: like my thoughts terrible, See and ship that's all the
- 35:37Speaker 1: other ship is. I tried, No, I give you listen
- 35:40Speaker 1: thing I want you.
- 35:41Speaker 2: I give you credit for putting it on because that's
- 35:44Speaker 2: like kind of like against you know what.
- 35:45Speaker 1: I mean you've been. It's weird because I actually like, uh,
- 35:49Speaker 1: I enjoy a lot of Drake music over the years.
- 35:50Speaker 1: I was, of course, I just you know, for me,
- 35:53Speaker 1: it's like, I don't know, man, it's just man, I
- 35:56Speaker 1: just feel dirty putting it on now. It's weird, even
- 36:00Speaker 1: though I love dude, like, nothing was the same as
- 36:02Speaker 1: a fucking and I always I always say this because
- 36:05Speaker 1: people will get on my head because I say Drake
- 36:08Speaker 1: doesn't have a consensus hip hop classic. And what I
- 36:11Speaker 1: mean by that is, if you put like a hundred
- 36:15Speaker 1: of like the top hip hop heads journalists in a room,
- 36:19Speaker 1: if you ain't getting ninety five percent of them, motherfuckers
- 36:21Speaker 1: to say that's a classic, it's not a classic like
- 36:23Speaker 1: a good Kid, Mad City or Dogy Style. Now. To me,
- 36:26Speaker 1: Drake's got like three classics to me. To me, I
- 36:31Speaker 1: got a me at four class I think the first mix, well,
- 36:34Speaker 1: not the first mixtape, the.
- 36:36Speaker 2: Well we count that I got him at five. If
- 36:38Speaker 2: we count so far gone.
- 36:39Speaker 1: So far gone, I got so far gone, I got
- 36:41Speaker 1: take Care and nothing was the same. I know a
- 36:43Speaker 1: lot of people like the if you're reading this, it's
- 36:45Speaker 1: too late, that's a classic. To me, I just can't
- 36:46Speaker 1: get over the fact that I heard the fucking references.
- 36:50Speaker 1: I can respect that one hundred percent. Yeah, I can
- 36:51Speaker 1: respect one hundred percent. But those are those are to
- 36:54Speaker 1: me the three that I'm like, Yo, Drake's so I'm like,
- 36:58Speaker 1: I'm listen, I'm a hater, but uh, if I'm being honest,
- 37:00Speaker 1: like I love all three of those out. Yeah, Yeah,
- 37:02Speaker 1: for me, so Far Gone.
- 37:04Speaker 2: Made me like, I think so that's about saying I
- 37:07Speaker 2: think so far Gone is the consensus classic that you
- 37:11Speaker 2: were talking about. I don't see you getting in the
- 37:13Speaker 2: room with hip hop has and them saying so far
- 37:15Speaker 2: gone is not a classic point. But for me, I
- 37:17Speaker 2: got so far gone to take care nothing was the
- 37:19Speaker 2: same I do have. If you're reading this, it's too late,
- 37:22Speaker 2: and I got the future joint what It's time to
- 37:24Speaker 2: be alive? For me, how I judge classics is different though.
- 37:27Speaker 2: I judge it where if you can just put it
- 37:30Speaker 2: on and let it play and not have to press skip,
- 37:31Speaker 2: And that doesn't mean that there's no song you don't like.
- 37:34Speaker 2: It just means that you never get to a point
- 37:36Speaker 2: to where you feel obbly.
- 37:37Speaker 1: Yeah, what It's time to be alive? Had that was
- 37:39Speaker 1: crazy it was actually and so I judge it off
- 37:43Speaker 1: of that.
- 37:43Speaker 2: I judge it off for impact, which is why I
- 37:45Speaker 2: always say now like there's no such thing as like
- 37:48Speaker 2: there's gonna be no new artists that can put out
- 37:50Speaker 2: classics anymore because of impact, because there's it's the game
- 37:54Speaker 2: is so convoluted that unless you're like a huge, huge
- 37:57Speaker 2: artist or about to be huge, I think it's really
- 38:00Speaker 2: hard to put out an impact Like I think, don't
- 38:02Speaker 2: she put out I think, don't she put out a classic?
- 38:04Speaker 2: But I'm saying like, you have to have that level
- 38:06Speaker 2: of impact. So if you're you know, an artist that
- 38:08Speaker 2: just can't make an impact in that way, it doesn't
- 38:10Speaker 2: matter how good the music is, it's gonna be.
- 38:12Speaker 1: Yeah. I think it's hard, man, because at the end
- 38:14Speaker 1: of the day, like you said, there's just so much,
- 38:16Speaker 1: just so much shit. And it's not even just music.
- 38:18Speaker 2: It's you know, it's it's almost like movies, it's podcast
- 38:21Speaker 2: it's it's everything, you know what I mean. Like Shannon
- 38:23Speaker 2: Sharp was having sex on the internet that lasted for
- 38:25Speaker 2: two days, Like when when it wasn't so much shit
- 38:28Speaker 2: going on, we would have been talking about that for weeks.
- 38:30Speaker 1: You talked about that for maybe thirty six hours. We're
- 38:32Speaker 1: in this like a weird media space where the streamers,
- 38:38Speaker 1: you know, like a kid like Aiden Ross, like people
- 38:40Speaker 1: like his opinion on hip hop, people reachmatter matter, He's
- 38:43Speaker 1: not to know anything about hip hop.
- 38:45Speaker 2: I love Kay Sannatt to death. I think everything kys
- 38:48Speaker 2: Sanata is doing is fucking phenomenal. But even the fact
- 38:51Speaker 2: he's obviously not a hip hop head. That's what I
- 38:53Speaker 2: was gonna say, obvious, the fact that you have people
- 38:55Speaker 2: dropping hip hop albums and feel like they are obligated
- 38:58Speaker 2: to stop at Kay sannat spot which and he's dope,
- 39:02Speaker 2: and you know, Kyle, I love Speed. I think I
- 39:07Speaker 2: think the one is is fucking phenomenal in there. I
- 39:10Speaker 2: think their visionaries, especially to be so young. But like
- 39:13Speaker 2: you said, it's I and he don't even try to
- 39:15Speaker 2: act like he's a hip hop He no. And that's
- 39:17Speaker 2: one of the reasons I love Kay is because Kay's
- 39:19Speaker 2: and I don't try to be nothing that he's not.
- 39:21Speaker 2: He don't give he don't give a fuck like they're
- 39:22Speaker 2: killing them right now because of what he said about Die,
- 39:24Speaker 2: But he genuinely don't give a fuck, And that's what
- 39:27Speaker 2: I love about him. He's just authentically Kai all the time.
- 39:30Speaker 2: But I say this to say, you got you know
- 39:33Speaker 2: people that are thirty three, thirty four feeling like obligated
- 39:35Speaker 2: that they got to stop there and spend a night
- 39:39Speaker 2: to get their album to sell. You get what I'm saying,
- 39:41Speaker 2: like for real, Like and it's like to me, that's
- 39:43Speaker 2: the part of the game that like, I just I
- 39:44Speaker 2: just hate that we're at now, is that nobody's doing anything,
- 39:48Speaker 2: Like nobody's doing shit because they love it anymore. Everybody's
- 39:52Speaker 2: treating it like a fucking job. And that's what I hate.
- 39:55Speaker 2: Like you don't see big rappers sitting down with keVs
- 40:00Speaker 2: or Charlemagne's or whoever. That like people that actually love rapping.
- 40:04Speaker 2: They're just going to wherever they think makes sense for
- 40:07Speaker 2: that album.
- 40:08Speaker 1: That's all. Like a lot of artists now, if they're
- 40:10Speaker 1: a certain level, they're just gonna go do kaisonat that's it.
- 40:14Speaker 1: That's it, bro. Like Nicki Minaj, the only piece of
- 40:16Speaker 1: media she did, she went and spent the night with
- 40:18Speaker 1: Kayson And it's like, bro, like like I don't love
- 40:21Speaker 1: you spend the night.
- 40:22Speaker 2: I don't think she spend the night, but like with
- 40:23Speaker 2: like I love Nikki to dead.
- 40:24Speaker 1: But with all due respect, why the fuck is Nicki
- 40:27Speaker 1: Minaj spending like or it's like popular, No, no, it's
- 40:30Speaker 1: like it's okay to do that, but it's like also
- 40:32Speaker 1: do jothing where we just have a music conversation about
- 40:34Speaker 1: like I don't.
- 40:35Speaker 2: Know, just but see, I'm gonna take it a step further.
- 40:37Speaker 2: I don't think it's I don't think that she should
- 40:39Speaker 2: do that. I'm gonna be honest with you. I don't
- 40:41Speaker 2: think she should do that because Nikki. To me, I
- 40:42Speaker 2: have Nikki as the best and biggest female rapper ever.
- 40:45Speaker 2: It's not even a debate.
- 40:46Speaker 1: I agree.
- 40:47Speaker 2: So you are big enough to where like whatever the
- 40:50Speaker 2: fuck you do is it? And that is one thing
- 40:53Speaker 2: that I do I have always like liked about Drake
- 40:58Speaker 2: is that, like, like Drake did on the radar, on
- 40:59Speaker 2: the I became a spot.
- 41:01Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying.
- 41:01Speaker 2: Like to me, it's like when you're in that spot,
- 41:05Speaker 2: like do groundbreaking ship because you are the wave.
- 41:08Speaker 1: Like. But then the other thing dra will do is
- 41:11Speaker 1: he'll he'll, he'll, he won't go do it because this
- 41:13Speaker 1: I agree with that as much as I don't agree
- 41:15Speaker 1: with academics. And you know, academics has invited me to
- 41:18Speaker 1: suck his dick on his stream. Wild guy. Uh. We
- 41:22Speaker 1: we got on the phone though, We're fine, but I'm like, yo, Drake,
- 41:26Speaker 1: go do academic ship. Why are you doing these random
- 41:28Speaker 1: little Canadian white dudes and the gambling on stream like
- 41:32Speaker 1: this is no? I agree with he as fuck I
- 41:34Speaker 1: I and I and I agree. I feel like that's
- 41:36Speaker 1: what I may know is like to me, go do
- 41:38Speaker 1: Moriam mall Bro go do Rory and.
- 41:44Speaker 4: It no.
- 41:46Speaker 2: But that's what I mean is like that's fire. Like
- 41:48Speaker 2: I thought it was dope that Dot just sat down
- 41:50Speaker 2: with Ebro Like to me, it's like that was a
- 41:52Speaker 2: part of.
- 41:53Speaker 1: The super Bowl and it was one of super Bowl.
- 41:54Speaker 1: But I'm like, don't sit with.
- 41:57Speaker 2: Is that like bro like to me? Like, and so
- 41:59Speaker 2: that's what I'm saying, Like, this is not like a biasing.
- 42:01Speaker 2: This is not like a pick sized thing. To me,
- 42:03Speaker 2: hip hop is in the space that is in because
- 42:05Speaker 2: people pick features off of clicks and what's gonna benefit them.
- 42:10Speaker 2: They pick interview, they pick everything based off of what
- 42:15Speaker 2: makes sense for the algorithm and not what makes sense
- 42:18Speaker 2: for the culture. And that's why the culture keeps dying,
- 42:21Speaker 2: Like regardless of where this beef is. It's like hip
- 42:24Speaker 2: hop is not in the best space that it's it's
- 42:26Speaker 2: not in the best space because people do that. So
- 42:29Speaker 2: like you'll get a big artist that it might make
- 42:31Speaker 2: sense for them to work with a boogie, but Boogie's
- 42:34Speaker 2: maybe not hot enough, so they go work with a
- 42:37Speaker 2: nigga that they don't even know his catalog, but somebody
- 42:40Speaker 2: told him, like, yo, go look at this artist. He
- 42:41Speaker 2: going crazy, and so they go work with him instead
- 42:43Speaker 2: of doing that when it's like you're not at that point,
- 42:45Speaker 2: you're not feeding the ecosystem. We don't feed the ecosystem enough.
- 42:48Speaker 2: Like we need to keep our media that is in
- 42:52Speaker 2: the world that we love, that really cares about this world.
- 42:54Speaker 2: We need to keep them as the hottest media.
- 42:56Speaker 1: How do you do that? Pull up? You get what
- 42:58Speaker 1: I'm saying.
- 42:59Speaker 2: If Nikki pulls up you know to I don't fucking
- 43:02Speaker 2: know name whoever is a person?
- 43:04Speaker 1: And that I was about Q. Yeah, Q going and
- 43:06Speaker 1: doing background FIG was dope to me.
- 43:07Speaker 2: That was fire Like that was fire, bro Like, like
- 43:09Speaker 2: go do back on FIG because that is like the
- 43:12Speaker 2: people that fuck with you know what I mean?
- 43:14Speaker 1: Like, what what you represent?
- 43:16Speaker 2: That's the ecosystem you should be feeding and like when
- 43:19Speaker 2: you're a bigger like, I understand it for up andcoming
- 43:21Speaker 2: artists because you just trying to.
- 43:22Speaker 1: Get whatever like you can get.
- 43:23Speaker 2: But if you are like Nikki, you Nikki, you can
- 43:25Speaker 2: go sit down with a nigga that we ain't never
- 43:28Speaker 2: heard of before and they're gonna be the biggest thing
- 43:31Speaker 2: because you're gonna bring a bunch of abauty.
- 43:32Speaker 1: The other thing too, though, is a lot of artists
- 43:34Speaker 1: now like they just go straight to fans. They'd rather
- 43:36Speaker 1: just go on Instagram live. Like, for sure, Cardi B
- 43:40Speaker 1: be fucked up on Instagram line titty out, for sure.
- 43:44Speaker 1: I've seen Cardi B's aeral on and meat a lot lately.
- 43:48Speaker 1: But it's it's like anything you need to know about
- 43:50Speaker 1: her and her fucking just go straight to the fils
- 43:52Speaker 1: bro for better everything that's happening with her and offset. Yeah,
- 43:57Speaker 1: that's that's a fact. But of course you could go
- 43:59Speaker 1: sit down in an interview and they ask, so what's
- 44:00Speaker 1: going on with you? Went off? Just go watch my
- 44:02Speaker 1: drunk live from three nights ago? Do you know exactly
- 44:05Speaker 1: what the fuck happened? But we had sex six hours
- 44:07Speaker 1: ago and now I hate them, but I also fuck
- 44:11Speaker 1: with that because that's feet that's feeding her ecosystem. For sure,
- 44:14Speaker 1: I'm saying that's that's what I mean. Yeah, And then
- 44:16Speaker 1: the other on the other side, it's like, unfortunately, with
- 44:20Speaker 1: the streaming and like some of this ship like artists
- 44:23Speaker 1: have also adopted what they call in the streaming world
- 44:26Speaker 1: clip farming, like the clip farming uh model where you're
- 44:32Speaker 1: just like, Okay, I'm rolling out the album. What are
- 44:35Speaker 1: like three or four moments I can create.
- 44:37Speaker 2: Exactly that is just gonna get clipped and then we're
- 44:39Speaker 2: gonna send it to all of the pages and they're
- 44:41Speaker 2: gonna post and so yeah, yeah, yeah, no, for sure.
- 44:43Speaker 1: We'll see I mean, I like I saw. I think,
- 44:44Speaker 1: like the one thing with the Kendrick thing and like
- 44:46Speaker 1: Dochi winning Best New Artists or I'm sorry best hip
- 44:49Speaker 1: Hop Album she got wrong for Best New Artists? Who
- 44:51Speaker 1: listens to Chappelle Room, Yeah, I didn't even know who
- 44:54Speaker 1: that was anyway, But I think it's like promising we'll
- 44:59Speaker 1: see you know, we'll see man. But yeah, I'm I'm hopeful.
- 45:05Speaker 1: But yeah, the ecosystem of media is it's just becoming
- 45:09Speaker 1: a lot, dude. Bro.
- 45:10Speaker 2: The ecosystem of media.
- 45:11Speaker 1: And I'm not even hating on anything. I love, Like
- 45:13Speaker 1: you said, I love speed, but there's always like the
- 45:16Speaker 1: Playboy Max guy. I feel like he just popped up
- 45:18Speaker 1: like a month ago. Yeah he did, he did, and
- 45:20Speaker 1: he's lit now, but I didn't know the fuck he
- 45:23Speaker 1: was like forty five days. And to me, I don't
- 45:25Speaker 1: think there's anything wrong with it.
- 45:26Speaker 2: I just think that like that ecosystem should exist over
- 45:29Speaker 2: there because it's the thing.
- 45:30Speaker 1: They feed their ecosystem.
- 45:31Speaker 2: Like Kai puts on a bunch of streamers, he's just
- 45:34Speaker 2: talking about the stream university that he wants to do doc.
- 45:36Speaker 2: That's something he's a visionary. But I'm like, they feed
- 45:39Speaker 2: their ecosystem. The issue with us is that we don't
- 45:41Speaker 2: feed our ecosystem like our goats or our idols and
- 45:44Speaker 2: shit like that. They don't go sit down and feed
- 45:48Speaker 2: the ecosystem. They don't do records with up and coming artists.
- 45:51Speaker 2: That you'll have an artist, they'll have artists A who
- 45:54Speaker 2: praised them so much that when you listen to artists
- 45:57Speaker 2: as music, you can hear it in their music how
- 45:59Speaker 2: much they are influenced by this artist. And then they
- 46:01Speaker 2: have artists B that kind of likes them, but they
- 46:04Speaker 2: hot and they popping, and then they'll just go do
- 46:07Speaker 2: a feature with artists B, which is like, that's cool
- 46:09Speaker 2: and it's gonna help you, but it's not gonna help
- 46:12Speaker 2: the ecosystem because if you do it with artists A,
- 46:14Speaker 2: they're gonna get bigger and then they're going to a
- 46:17Speaker 2: praise you for doing that and putting them in a
- 46:19Speaker 2: bigger light. But then also be they're gonna then feed
- 46:22Speaker 2: the ecosystem because now they're bigger, so now they can
- 46:24Speaker 2: do bigger features with other people.
- 46:25Speaker 1: Yeah, I think, you know, I think back to the
- 46:27Speaker 1: Drake rap Ratear interview a few years ago, and I
- 46:30Speaker 1: think like it would be if if artists of that
- 46:33Speaker 1: caliber every few years just did one of those sit downs,
- 46:38Speaker 1: not necessarily just with with someone who.
- 46:41Speaker 2: Wants aware of just pick one, like literally, if you
- 46:44Speaker 2: could put them in dice and roll the fucking dice out, sure,
- 46:46Speaker 2: and just just pick one, bro, and it'll keep our
- 46:49Speaker 2: you know what I mean, Like ecosystem in that space.
- 46:52Speaker 1: Random J Cole stepping out probably best decision ever, right one.
- 46:58Speaker 1: When you talk you talk about visionaries, visionary he said,
- 47:01Speaker 1: I wouldn't.
- 47:02Speaker 2: Hey, man, everybody knows knows this. That's the reason fan
- 47:06Speaker 2: Like I'm a diehard cold fan. That is my goat,
- 47:07Speaker 2: like on a Big three. I was hot when I
- 47:10Speaker 2: figured it when I heard it while I was on stage. Actually,
- 47:12Speaker 2: I was on stage and I talked to about the
- 47:14Speaker 2: crowd a lot while I'm performing, and somebody in the
- 47:17Speaker 2: crowd told me like J Cole just apologized because I
- 47:19Speaker 2: made a joke about the beef. And right when I
- 47:21Speaker 2: got off stage, I looked a him like, oh my god,
- 47:23Speaker 2: my heart was hurt. But hindsight you talk about you
- 47:26Speaker 2: talk about twenty twenty.
- 47:28Speaker 1: I saw a punch. I saw punch maybe like three
- 47:31Speaker 1: or four days before that, and I was like, hey,
- 47:34Speaker 1: this before push ups came out. Yeah yeah. I was like, hey, Drake, Drake,
- 47:38Speaker 1: don't want to smoke it. Cold cool, cold, Yeah, he's
- 47:42Speaker 1: one of the cold. That would have been a fire
- 47:44Speaker 1: battle though, that would have been man. I'm like I
- 47:46Speaker 1: told him, I said, hey, but dude, dream Dreamville Fast
- 47:49Speaker 1: is coming, Like there's a lot of like Q was
- 47:52Speaker 1: on it, sisor was on it. I was like, yeah,
- 47:55Speaker 1: what's gonna happened? Like this is weird, you know, And dude,
- 47:58Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 47:58Speaker 2: I genuinely think dot what's supposed to be at that
- 48:00Speaker 2: Dreamville fest. I genuinely believe that.
- 48:02Speaker 1: I'm glad man, because you know, there's there's this, uh
- 48:06Speaker 1: version of a Kendrick and Cole album that was started
- 48:08Speaker 1: that will never hear, you know, but those two guys
- 48:10Speaker 1: to me are always like you know for sure guys
- 48:13Speaker 1: you know yeah, uh, any idea when your mixtape is
- 48:16Speaker 1: going to you said before the end of the year.
- 48:19Speaker 2: No, So this mixtape is dropping on the twenty eighth.
- 48:21Speaker 2: So the album, yeah, the album my bad album I'm
- 48:24Speaker 2: aiming for I'm aiming for third quarter. I just I'm
- 48:27Speaker 2: kind of like, kind of tired of all of my
- 48:29Speaker 2: projects are dropped in third quarter, and then when we
- 48:31Speaker 2: tore porches it was like freezing cold for sure, and
- 48:34Speaker 2: so I kind of I want to drop third quarter,
- 48:36Speaker 2: but I also kind of like maybe I should wait
- 48:38Speaker 2: till fourth That way I can tour it like maybe
- 48:40Speaker 2: like March aprilish and it won't be as cold, so
- 48:43Speaker 2: it'll probably end up like leaning towards fourth quarter.
- 48:46Speaker 1: Who's who also on the tape besides obviously who we've seen.
- 48:49Speaker 2: On the the mixtape twenty eighth. Uh, this dope up
- 48:53Speaker 2: and coming artist Ben Riley. I want to say he's
- 48:56Speaker 2: freestyle on my fire fire bro like, yeah, fire, shout
- 48:59Speaker 2: out to the group chat. We got a group chat
- 49:01Speaker 2: with U, and I apologize if I miss anybody but
- 49:03Speaker 2: me Ben Riley, Deonte Hitchcock Bro. This group chat is
- 49:07Speaker 2: so fucking fire bro Seeddi Hendricks Like, It's just a
- 49:12Speaker 2: bunch of a bunch of fire niggas in the group chat.
- 49:15Speaker 1: So that's how I met Ben.
- 49:15Speaker 2: But Ben, we got a record that we we flipped
- 49:20Speaker 2: We Made You sample by Kanye Kanye super Fire, and
- 49:23Speaker 2: he does have a better verse of me. I'm gonna
- 49:25Speaker 2: just put that out there. He's super super crazy. So
- 49:28Speaker 2: Ben Riley, of course, you know the Coyotes Ransom by
- 49:32Speaker 2: hit Boy got a verse. It's funny because people saw
- 49:34Speaker 2: it and they thought it was production. But I've been
- 49:36Speaker 2: a big hit Boy rap fan for a long time,
- 49:38Speaker 2: So shout out to him and Surf Club.
- 49:40Speaker 1: He's on there.
- 49:42Speaker 2: I feel like I'm coded the friend and coded the
- 49:44Speaker 2: friends on there.
- 49:45Speaker 1: Yeah, he's on.
- 49:46Speaker 2: Actually, my favorite song on the project I have been
- 49:51Speaker 2: for the last month. Happened because I've been too busy.
- 49:53Speaker 2: But that's been like you know, my love. We just
- 49:55Speaker 2: want our championship, the adult league championship. So I take
- 49:58Speaker 2: that very seriously. And I got most improved because the
- 50:01Speaker 2: first season I was so bad and coming off of
- 50:04Speaker 2: just being drunk all the time. At the second season,
- 50:06Speaker 2: I had nowhere to go but up. So you played.
- 50:08Speaker 2: I played in college the racist college coach. Ever find
- 50:11Speaker 2: out that you clowned him, I don't know.
- 50:16Speaker 1: So many people putting shit together. Bro, they put it
- 50:18Speaker 1: together too, they like I saw, like they found it.
- 50:21Speaker 1: This is the coach.
- 50:22Speaker 2: They got it, Bro, they found it. But I don't
- 50:25Speaker 2: know if he ever did because I never talked to him.
- 50:27Speaker 2: But my assistant coach did hit me and was like, Bro,
- 50:30Speaker 2: you're crazy for saying that. But I understand, but I
- 50:33Speaker 2: understand why you did it.
- 50:34Speaker 1: He was like, bro, like that.
- 50:35Speaker 2: He was like, the way you were treated over there
- 50:37Speaker 2: was fucking nasty. So yeah, excited about Luca. It's super
- 50:41Speaker 2: excited about Luca. I hated losing Anthony Davis though, I
- 50:44Speaker 2: will say that, And then he got injured his first
- 50:45Speaker 2: game with the Mavericke and I was like, God, I'm like, bro,
- 50:48Speaker 2: like you know what I'm saying. Like I was talking
- 50:50Speaker 2: to the hommies that they hated the trade, because you know,
- 50:52Speaker 2: Laker fans, we fall in love with players that.
- 50:54Speaker 1: We really love. You knew Laker fans that hated the trade.
- 50:57Speaker 1: I do.
- 50:57Speaker 2: I did know Laker fans, which is crazy because it
- 51:00Speaker 2: was a thing where it was like Ad was carrying
- 51:02Speaker 2: us this season. So it wasn't so much that they
- 51:03Speaker 2: hated the trade. They just hated to see a d go.
- 51:05Speaker 2: But I told him, like, bro, like it is what
- 51:08Speaker 2: it is, like you know what I mean. Like, but
- 51:09Speaker 2: but I will say this, like the MAVs were right
- 51:13Speaker 2: in the standpoint of like, look, I got to lose
- 51:14Speaker 2: some weight, bro, that shit. When I saw him run
- 51:16Speaker 2: up and down the court, I'm like, come on, yeah,
- 51:17Speaker 2: but like, but he'll be fine though.
- 51:19Speaker 1: Like that took him to the finals. You should never know.
- 51:21Speaker 1: This is the thing.
- 51:22Speaker 2: They were right in saying that he was fat. But
- 51:25Speaker 2: that's not a good enough reason to trade thirty eight.
- 51:28Speaker 2: That guy is not enough reason to trade it.
- 51:30Speaker 1: Fat. He could be fat, Yeah, fat guy. Whoever that
- 51:32Speaker 1: guy is, Nick, Nico Richards or whatever. Nick, he's fired.
- 51:35Speaker 1: He's not gonna be here long. Bro. I can promise
- 51:37Speaker 1: you I'm glad. I'm not a Mavericks fan. I'm a
- 51:39Speaker 1: Sun's fan. I'm tortured, But if that would have happened,
- 51:41Speaker 1: I might have been in that. I would you know,
- 51:43Speaker 1: they say he's getting death threats, I would have been
- 51:45Speaker 1: in those threats.
- 51:47Speaker 2: Honestly, the fans is better than me because to me,
- 51:51Speaker 2: as a fan base, you supposed to boycott games until
- 51:53Speaker 2: they fire.
- 51:54Speaker 1: I would have you supposed to boycott. You're supposed to
- 51:55Speaker 1: be outside the arena.
- 51:57Speaker 2: You're supposed to hit them they where they hurt, in
- 51:58Speaker 2: they pockets and buy no tickets. Was gone just quiet?
- 52:03Speaker 2: It should have been quiet. Like when I saw the game,
- 52:05Speaker 2: I saw many people was there. I was like, oh, y'all,
- 52:07Speaker 2: y'all not serious about this ship. If they would have
- 52:09Speaker 2: traded Kobe Nigga, if they would have traded Kobe, it
- 52:13Speaker 2: wouldn't have been nobody in that Kobe.
- 52:16Speaker 1: It's like if they would have traded Kobe when he
- 52:17Speaker 1: was thirty seven, maybe you'd have been like, yeah, but
- 52:20Speaker 1: if you if traded created Kobe number eight bro after
- 52:23Speaker 1: he took after he took his team to the finals,
- 52:26Speaker 1: like you trade that Kobe, Bro, the Steple Center would
- 52:29Speaker 1: have been dry outside. It would have been cracking riot. Yeah,
- 52:35Speaker 1: they would have sad some cars on one percent. So
- 52:38Speaker 1: I'm like the mass fan.
- 52:39Speaker 2: They clearly don't take their team serious enough because trading Luca,
- 52:42Speaker 2: y'all supposed to be you're supposed to be demanding Nico's
- 52:46Speaker 2: head on a stake.
- 52:47Speaker 1: Yo. Once Luga got traded, I started just wrapping my
- 52:49Speaker 1: head around, like damn, I guess they could trade Booker
- 52:53Speaker 1: if Luca got traded, Like, bro, anybody, Nobody's off limits
- 52:57Speaker 1: at this point. Like I'm like, bro, like the Wolves
- 53:00Speaker 1: could trade a you know a. Like it's like what
- 53:04Speaker 1: you're being saying, but you're being said, Yeah, anyway, Well listen,
- 53:07Speaker 1: I think the only person who's probably untradeable for real,
- 53:09Speaker 1: it's two people Wenby. Yeah, yeah, I agree with that.
- 53:14Speaker 1: I agree with that.
- 53:14Speaker 2: No, I agree with that whole heartedly. Yeah Wemby, you
- 53:17Speaker 2: trade Wenby? You you must have cancer and the doctor
- 53:21Speaker 2: told you have four must live, So you was just
- 53:22Speaker 2: trying to like make a splash before you you get
- 53:25Speaker 2: what I'm saying, before you kick the bucket or something.
- 53:26Speaker 1: All good man. So the mixtapes dropping on the twenty eighth,
- 53:29Speaker 1: Yeah mixtape dropping on twenty eighth, Go Support, Go Support,
- 53:32Speaker 1: please please be on the lookout.
- 53:33Speaker 2: Me and COS will be following up pretty soon after that.
- 53:37Speaker 2: Like it won't be a large yeah, it won't be
- 53:38Speaker 2: a large gap. It'll be like, yeah, probably we'll probably
- 53:41Speaker 2: start rolling out, probably start rolling out around Dreamville Fest. Fire,
- 53:44Speaker 2: So it'll be soon dream Belfest like first week and
- 53:47Speaker 2: that's the last one, right, yes.
- 53:49Speaker 1: That's the last one. That is the last one.
- 53:51Speaker 2: So this should be a very very fun and interesting
- 53:53Speaker 2: Dreamville Fest. I hope cold drop song like I just
- 53:55Speaker 2: want a Cold album, like a real album at this.
- 53:58Speaker 1: Yeah, I think. Unfortunately it's crazy because my deleat this
- 54:00Speaker 1: later like kind of got Lost in the Sauce last year,
- 54:02Speaker 1: is such a great body. He worked out that brought.
- 54:04Speaker 2: I revisited it the other day and I'm like, this
- 54:07Speaker 2: is a really good project, bro, like a really and
- 54:09Speaker 2: you know, yeah it is. Everything got lost in the
- 54:12Speaker 2: sauce stow with the beef. The beef, just the beef
- 54:14Speaker 2: just was a tidal way to everything here it is.
- 54:16Speaker 1: Man, Well, I appreciate you pulling up reason my guy,
- 54:19Speaker 1: Thank you, brother, appreciate it.
- 54:21Speaker 4: Fire
