- 0:00Speaker 1: Ron Verb on News Radio 570 WKBN. And it's a
- 0:05Speaker 1: good Friday to you. It's 3.05 in the afternoon. It's
- 0:08Speaker 1: 83 degrees. It's Friday, August 21st already. Not that far
- 0:13Speaker 1: from the Canfield Fair, which I would say if you're
- 0:16Speaker 1: in my neck of the woods, gang, once you hit
- 0:18Speaker 1: the fair here in our neck of the woods, that's
- 0:20Speaker 1: pretty much, well, how would you view it? It's the
- 0:24Speaker 1: end of summer. Isn't that kind of the official marking point?
- 0:28Speaker 1: in our community to say, okay, summer's behind us and
- 0:31Speaker 1: fall is here. That's when you start to notice the
- 0:34Speaker 1: days getting a lot shorter, right around Canfield Fair time.
- 0:38Speaker 1: Just giving you some of the history of where we
- 0:41Speaker 1: broadcast from right here at the Kingdom of Mahoning with
- 0:45Speaker 1: one of the largest county fairs around. They're going to
- 0:47Speaker 1: be coming up in not a handful of days, basically.
- 0:53Speaker 1: Maybe two handfuls here of days and the Canfield Fair
- 0:56Speaker 1: will be here and it's then fall will be here
- 1:00Speaker 1: in shorter days.
- 1:01Speaker 2: Ah, yes.
- 1:04Speaker 1: And it'll be the times of your life, to quote
- 1:07Speaker 1: Paul Anka, if you remember him. 83 degrees, good afternoon.
- 1:10Speaker 1: I'll set that aside. I'll get to that shortly. Some
- 1:14Speaker 1: things I want to mention to you. You're on the air.
- 1:18Speaker 3: Yes, hi, Ron.
- 1:19Speaker 4: How you doing?
- 1:21Speaker 1: I'm glad you called. I want to ask you a question. Sure,
- 1:25Speaker 1: go ahead. I want to pick your brain on some stuff.
- 1:28Speaker 1: And can you give me some analysis? And I say this, folks,
- 1:33Speaker 1: and you tell me if I'm allowed to or if
- 1:35Speaker 1: I should stop. You were just … You're Joe Bagadonich.
- 1:40Speaker 1: You're not a stock guy. You're not a certified financial
- 1:42Speaker 1: guy or anything like that. But it's fair for me
- 1:44Speaker 1: to say that I've spoken to you for years. Would
- 1:49Speaker 1: you agree with that? And I've watched you make a lot.
- 1:52Speaker 4: Going back to the 90s, I believe, when I used
- 1:55Speaker 4: to trade Chrysler stock.
- 1:57Speaker 5: Right.
- 1:57Speaker 4: And I said that was the big winner for me
- 2:00Speaker 4: back in the 90s with Chrysler.
- 2:02Speaker 1: I mean, I guess my point is this, folks. I
- 2:05Speaker 1: feel like I've known this guy for a long, long
- 2:07Speaker 1: time in talking to him. And I'm here to say,
- 2:11Speaker 1: in my opinion, he's a really smart guy, all right?
- 2:14Speaker 1: And just on how the financial world that he understands
- 2:18Speaker 1: and what he's done on his own is just, to me,
- 2:20Speaker 1: absolutely remarkable. And I do mean remarkable. So would you
- 2:26Speaker 1: give me some input? From an economic standpoint, I would
- 2:29Speaker 1: like to ask you, I saw the other day this
- 2:33Speaker 1: bailing out of Japan to prevent them from selling off.
- 2:38Speaker 1: They have a trillion dollars in treasuries to prevent them
- 2:40Speaker 1: from selling them off, which our country said would raise
- 2:43Speaker 1: our interest rates or the interest rates would go up.
- 2:47Speaker 1: So we bailed out Japan. in a strange kind of
- 2:50Speaker 1: way for our own benefit, if you will. Then you
- 2:53Speaker 1: had this bond buyback that's going on. The best it's preaching,
- 3:00Speaker 1: it seems like the market doesn't care for much. Then
- 3:04Speaker 1: I just take a look at the Walmart stock and
- 3:08Speaker 1: purchasing power from people. So I want to ask you this.
- 3:11Speaker 1: Here's my long introduction to a question. How do you
- 3:14Speaker 1: think the economy actually is as we talk today? on
- 3:18Speaker 1: Main Street, if you will. And where do you think
- 3:23Speaker 1: the economy's heading and the global economy is heading? Because
- 3:26Speaker 1: some of these things, I think, are very deeply troubling
- 3:29Speaker 1: and disturbing to me.
- 3:31Speaker 4: I think for the... There's two worlds. It's the Joe
- 3:37Speaker 4: Bag of Donuts and the people that have money. The
- 3:40Speaker 4: economy is great. If you have money and you can
- 3:43Speaker 4: take advantage of this... foals gold on Wall Street. I
- 3:52Speaker 4: can't believe how the market is discounting it. I was
- 3:55Speaker 4: looking back at a clip of Donald Trump in 2016
- 4:00Speaker 4: when he was running for president, when our national debt
- 4:03Speaker 4: was $ 24 trillion, and Trump was at a rally. He said,
- 4:07Speaker 4: if we hit $ 24 trillion, it'll be a point of
- 4:11Speaker 4: no return. He says we'll become a country that's unsalvageable.
- 4:17Speaker 4: And now look at the debt now under Trump, you know,
- 4:20Speaker 4: $ 40 trillion. And I don't follow bonds and the Japanese situation.
- 4:27Speaker 4: I think they had a bailout in Japan. But, you know,
- 4:31Speaker 4: with $ 40 trillion in debt, we have no business giving
- 4:36Speaker 4: anyone foreign aid. That's the first thing.
- 4:40Speaker 1: All right. Well, pause for a second. When you're talking
- 4:43Speaker 1: about that, they say Trump is responsible for $ 4 trillion
- 4:49Speaker 1: of debt in his two years. $ 4 trillion. It's the
- 4:53Speaker 1: number they're putting out there. In two years. So, I mean,
- 4:58Speaker 1: he is really growing this debt at a record base,
- 5:02Speaker 1: record number.
- 5:03Speaker 4: Well, if he would have taken care of... He promised
- 5:07Speaker 4: this a year ago, and he put J.D. Vance in
- 5:09Speaker 4: charge of his fraud... investigations, uncovering fraud. Nothing's ever come
- 5:16Speaker 4: of that. And then, of course, you've had Elon Musk,
- 5:20Speaker 4: and he had so many great suggestions that Trump completely ignored.
- 5:25Speaker 4: Trump turned his back on the MAGA movement. And the
- 5:30Speaker 4: sad thing is, you can't live in, you know, my
- 5:33Speaker 4: house has paid off. I just mailed in my payment
- 5:38Speaker 4: for taxes, the real estate taxes. I mean, it's just like,
- 5:44Speaker 4: unless you move to Florida, you can never own your house.
- 5:47Speaker 4: You have to keep paying on it, and it's ridiculous.
- 5:50Speaker 4: If we would just cut the fraud, you wouldn't have
- 5:54Speaker 4: to have real estate taxes, income taxes. But we have
- 5:59Speaker 4: two parties. I'm an independent now. Next time I go
- 6:04Speaker 4: to vote, I'm going to drop my Republican... registration and
- 6:09Speaker 4: register as an independent. I'm just fed up with both parties.
- 6:12Speaker 4: These clowns do nothing. With a $ 40 trillion debt, it's unbelievable.
- 6:20Speaker 1: I mean, they are juggling... The reason that they did
- 6:24Speaker 1: this bailout, most people don't understand it, of Japan was
- 6:27Speaker 1: because Japan has over a trillion dollars of our treasuries.
- 6:31Speaker 1: And if Japan sold off a bunch of them, as
- 6:34Speaker 1: they were talking about doing, their concern was it would
- 6:36Speaker 1: raise the interest rates, which would be detrimental to the country,
- 6:41Speaker 1: to our country as far as their debt and deficit
- 6:43Speaker 1: is concerned. That's why they bailed. Did this run around
- 6:48Speaker 1: to bail out Japan. And it's also why they're doing
- 6:52Speaker 1: this bond buyback stuff. I mean, the stuff you see
- 6:55Speaker 1: going on globally is a lot of moves, I think,
- 7:00Speaker 1: to stabilize the global economy. But you can do all
- 7:03Speaker 1: of this stuff. And as long as you have... this
- 7:07Speaker 1: situation going on in Iran. And I go back to
- 7:10Speaker 1: say this, here's the reality. There's a shortage of oil.
- 7:14Speaker 1: I don't care what anyone tries to spin it or
- 7:16Speaker 1: how they try to spin it. When you take 20
- 7:18Speaker 1: or 30 million barrels of oil off the market a day,
- 7:21Speaker 1: and you're going to have a shortage of oil, prices
- 7:25Speaker 1: are going to go up. And so you, the straight
- 7:27Speaker 1: is still basically closed. So there's the reality of where
- 7:31Speaker 1: things are headed today. And as these oil experts say,
- 7:34Speaker 1: as you go further into August, June, July, August, September,
- 7:38Speaker 1: it's just going to get worse.
- 7:40Speaker 4: Well, no, Trump said we have complete control of the strait.
- 7:44Speaker 1: But that's nonsense.
- 7:46Speaker 4: Yeah, exactly. And all of a sudden he comes up
- 7:48Speaker 4: with this economic D-Day two days ago. It's a whole
- 7:52Speaker 4: new plan. Well, what happened to the military war? Is
- 7:55Speaker 4: that on the back burner?
- 7:58Speaker 1: Well, see, I'm glad you brought that up. The bombing campaign,
- 8:02Speaker 1: and we're going to bomb them to rubble and all
- 8:04Speaker 1: this kind of stuff. He was just talking that, what,
- 8:07Speaker 1: a month ago or something? We're going back to the
- 8:09Speaker 1: bombing campaign, the likes of which I've never seen, all
- 8:12Speaker 1: of this kind of stuff. Now that's come to an end,
- 8:14Speaker 1: and now we're on a different strategy. Now we're going
- 8:17Speaker 1: to have, what did he say, this economic— D-Day.
- 8:22Speaker 3: Economic D-Day.
- 8:23Speaker 1: Well, what happened to the bombing you were talking about?
- 8:26Speaker 1: Now it's going to be an economic D-Day. Okay. It
- 8:29Speaker 1: just seems like we're trying to try anything to see
- 8:34Speaker 1: if we can get somehow an agreement to get out
- 8:38Speaker 1: of this mess. And it doesn't seem like they're too agreeable.
- 8:42Speaker 4: Well, you know what bothers me, talking about bombing, our
- 8:45Speaker 4: military partner, the Israelis... I don't think they've bombed Iran.
- 8:51Speaker 4: What they're bombing now is Gaza and Lebanon in a
- 8:54Speaker 4: major way. And that is turning a lot of people
- 8:59Speaker 4: in the MAGA movement against Trump. They do not like
- 9:03Speaker 4: to see innocent civilians killed with our tax dollars. And
- 9:08Speaker 4: it's funny, I just heard that you ran a commercial
- 9:11Speaker 4: for the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews. They want
- 9:15Speaker 4: you to donate. I'm saying... We're giving you military aid.
- 9:19Speaker 4: You own all of our politicians. You're running our country.
- 9:22Speaker 4: And I think our president is a puppet. And now
- 9:27Speaker 4: they want us to donate to the International Fellowship. But
- 9:32Speaker 4: we should be giving money to the poor civilians in
- 9:35Speaker 4: Lebanon and Gaza. It's crazy.
- 9:38Speaker 1: I mean, basically, as a Trump supporter, he's turned you off, correct?
- 9:45Speaker 5: Correct.
- 9:45Speaker 4: Yeah, when I heard you on, I believe it was
- 9:48Speaker 4: this week on a Monday or Tuesday, you were really
- 9:52Speaker 4: ripping into G2.
- 9:54Speaker 3: Yes. Rightly so.
- 9:56Speaker 4: I said, you're reading the room and you're looking at
- 9:59Speaker 4: the facts. and I don't know what world G2 is
- 10:01Speaker 4: living in, but you sort of cut them some slack
- 10:04Speaker 4: a little bit yesterday. But I think G2 is underestimating
- 10:10Speaker 4: how fed up the MAGA movement is with Donald Trump.
- 10:16Speaker 4: And I talked to a lot of people, a lot
- 10:18Speaker 4: of Trump supporters, and And all but the most diehard
- 10:22Speaker 4: Trump supporters have lost their enthusiasm for the guy. And
- 10:28Speaker 4: then he put a thing out, I think it was today,
- 10:30Speaker 4: he's going to dump foreign beef into the country to
- 10:34Speaker 4: lower the price of beef at a 25% below the
- 10:39Speaker 4: market price, no tariffs. And what he should be doing
- 10:43Speaker 4: instead of doing that is helping our cattle farmers to
- 10:47Speaker 4: and building up our herds. But he's going for like
- 10:50Speaker 4: a Biden. Remember when Biden released oil from the Strategic
- 10:55Speaker 4: Reserve just for a short-term gain? Trump is doing the
- 10:59Speaker 4: same thing with beef. And I don't know if it's
- 11:04Speaker 4: going to help him or not, but he's down in
- 11:07Speaker 4: the polls.
- 11:10Speaker 1: Yeah, but basically economically, you're not thrilled with what's going
- 11:15Speaker 1: on in the country.
- 11:17Speaker 4: No, but as far as you asked me, if things
- 11:20Speaker 4: are good, things are great in the market. And this AI,
- 11:26Speaker 4: you're not going to stop it. It's going to be
- 11:28Speaker 4: a big multi-year boom for the investors in the stock
- 11:33Speaker 4: market and the people that have money. But I feel
- 11:36Speaker 4: sorry for the average guy that's paying his house payments
- 11:42Speaker 4: and insurance and groceries and utilities. And when Trump ran,
- 11:48Speaker 4: he said he was going to lower our utility bills
- 11:52Speaker 4: next to nothing. And I said, what has happened to
- 11:54Speaker 4: the guy? All the promises he made, he broke. And
- 12:00Speaker 4: I know the Epstein files will never, nothing will overcome
- 12:03Speaker 4: of that. That's a done deal. And the debt is
- 12:07Speaker 4: what bothers me the most. But after that, well, put
- 12:11Speaker 4: the war on the top of it. This stupid war
- 12:14Speaker 4: that we started, that we didn't have to start.
- 12:17Speaker 1: Well, I would back up and drop the we, the
- 12:20Speaker 1: stupid war that he started.
- 12:22Speaker 3: Right, yes.
- 12:22Speaker 4: It was, well, it was..
- 12:25Speaker 1: I mean, there wasn't any debate in Congress. I mean,
- 12:28Speaker 1: your senators and congressmen really didn't have a vote or
- 12:30Speaker 1: a say-so on it and still really haven't had one
- 12:33Speaker 1: on it.
- 12:34Speaker 4: But they really haven't protested the war that much.
- 12:37Speaker 1: Right.
- 12:38Speaker 4: The Democrats, it's all one big uniparty. The Senate is
- 12:41Speaker 4: a joke, tunes a joke, do nothing, they've done nothing. And, well,
- 12:49Speaker 4: the Democrats now have their own problem with the DSA
- 12:52Speaker 4: wing of the party, but they seem to have that
- 12:55Speaker 4: almost under control. But we'll see how the midterms turn out.
- 13:02Speaker 4: But then the other thing that bothers me is all
- 13:04Speaker 4: of the promises that he made, you know, he just
- 13:08Speaker 4: turned his back on everybody. And he threw all of
- 13:11Speaker 4: his allies and all the MAGA people under the bus.
- 13:15Speaker 4: You know, you go back, we have a two-party system
- 13:17Speaker 4: that I think will never change. It almost changed with
- 13:21Speaker 4: Ross Perot, and then the Tea Party had a little shot,
- 13:25Speaker 4: but that was, it sort of fizzled out and it
- 13:27Speaker 4: became MAGA, and then Trump, I think, hijacked the MAGA movement,
- 13:32Speaker 4: which was the original Tea Party movement, and now he's
- 13:36Speaker 4: dumped MAGA as far as I'm concerned, but it's Not
- 13:41Speaker 4: looking good.
- 13:43Speaker 1: I wish I could say, I hope I'm wrong, but
- 13:45Speaker 1: I'm not optimistic, economically speaking. We shall see as time
- 13:50Speaker 1: goes on. Always a pleasure talking to you. Go ahead.
- 13:53Speaker 4: One other quick thing. I was talking about politicians, senators, congressmen.
- 13:58Speaker 4: Down on the local level, it really disturbs me what
- 14:01Speaker 4: I see in cities like Youngstown, where we have incompetent
- 14:07Speaker 4: leadership in city council, in the mayor, I believe. They
- 14:11Speaker 4: don't know what they're doing. They can't get out of
- 14:13Speaker 4: their own way. Nothing seems to be coordinated. And all
- 14:17Speaker 4: the COVID money, I think, is almost gone. They've blown
- 14:20Speaker 4: it on parks, on playgrounds. And they had the program
- 14:26Speaker 4: for putting new roofs on dilapidated homes and then helping
- 14:30Speaker 4: other people out. And they just basically gave the money away.
- 14:35Speaker 4: And now we have nothing to show for it. And
- 14:39Speaker 4: if you drive down Wick Avenue, it's terrible. They should
- 14:44Speaker 4: have put the new fire and police station there.
- 14:47Speaker 6: Right.
- 14:48Speaker 4: They were going to do that. That would have been
- 14:50Speaker 4: a great asset to the city. It was a corridor
- 14:53Speaker 4: into YSU, Earthland, and the downtown area. But they just,
- 14:59Speaker 4: now what's going to happen when they're out of money?
- 15:02Speaker 4: And they're a bunch of clowns.
- 15:05Speaker 1: All right. Appreciate it. Thank you. NewsRadio 570. Don't hear
- 15:08Speaker 1: you again. Just talking about Youngstown, I want to acknowledge
- 15:12Speaker 1: the passing of Bob Bush. Many of you might remember him.
- 15:18Speaker 1: He was with the Youngstown Police Department and was the
- 15:21Speaker 1: chief of police. And I thought a hell of a guy.
- 15:25Speaker 1: It was an honor to know Bob Bush and to
- 15:28Speaker 1: talk to him on the radio over the years, both
- 15:32Speaker 1: as police chief and when he left that position. And
- 15:36Speaker 1: I thought he was a very, very interesting man, to
- 15:39Speaker 1: say the least. Was in Vietnam. Was a gunner on
- 15:41Speaker 1: a helicopter. And ultimately was in the police department. Became
- 15:48Speaker 1: a lawyer and police chief. And he has passed away.
- 15:54Speaker 7: And a.
- 15:56Speaker 1: Heck of a life, though. Lived a heck of a life.
- 15:59Speaker 1: Accomplished a lot in his time. News Radio 570 WKBN.
- 16:01Speaker 1: You're on the air.
- 16:05Speaker 8: Ron, you and Options Guy said everything I was going
- 16:08Speaker 8: to say, except I disagree with Options Guy. We have
- 16:13Speaker 8: a uniparty, not a two-party system, and people are leaving
- 16:18Speaker 8: both the Democrats.
- 16:19Speaker 1: I think that's what he said, though. I don't think
- 16:21Speaker 1: you disagree. I think you're in agreement. I think that's
- 16:23Speaker 1: exactly what he said. It's like the same party. But
- 16:26Speaker 1: I'm going to back up, and I'm going to ask
- 16:28Speaker 1: you the same question. Economically speaking, from Japan to the
- 16:33Speaker 1: bond yields yesterday, I mean, these are global things that
- 16:36Speaker 1: are going on as far as the global economy is concerned,
- 16:39Speaker 1: and I find them all deeply disturbing and troubling, and
- 16:42Speaker 1: I'm genuinely concerned about the global economy because of this
- 16:46Speaker 1: war situation. Your comment.
- 16:50Speaker 8: Well, before I answer your question, people are leaving both
- 16:54Speaker 8: the Democrats in Republican Party and record numbers.
- 16:59Speaker 1: Yeah, but you've got to go. Yeah, but stand by
- 17:02Speaker 1: for a minute. I'll come right back to you and
- 17:04Speaker 1: more after this. Ron Ferb, it's always a pleasure to
- 17:10Speaker 1: check in with Mike Leonard out of Bernard Daniels. Ron
- 17:15Speaker 1: Ferb from the Kingdom of Mahoning. So give me, based
- 17:18Speaker 1: on what I've asked the first caller, I'm just going
- 17:21Speaker 1: to ask you the same question. Most people don't understand
- 17:24Speaker 1: this stuff, and they might not even follow it. But
- 17:26Speaker 1: these are, in my opinion, bad economic news for the
- 17:29Speaker 1: globe when you're bailing out Japan and when you're doing
- 17:35Speaker 1: the bond buyback that's going on. And with the situation
- 17:40Speaker 1: as far as energy goes, with this war situation that
- 17:44Speaker 1: Trump has created and the debt and deficit situation, They
- 17:49Speaker 1: were saying Trump's responsible for $ 4 trillion over two years.
- 17:53Speaker 1: Give me your take on all of that and what
- 17:58Speaker 1: you see and where you think it's headed.
- 18:01Speaker 8: Well, first of all, we shouldn't be bailing out anybody.
- 18:06Speaker 8: Japan is an advanced, industrialized economy. Why are we bailing
- 18:12Speaker 8: them out? And she, too, was giving.
- 18:15Speaker 1: You a hard time the other day.
- 18:16Speaker 5: Right.
- 18:16Speaker 1: Pause for a second. We're bailing them out because Japan
- 18:19Speaker 1: was going to cash in. They have a trillion dollars
- 18:22Speaker 1: in treasuries, and they were going to start cashing them in.
- 18:24Speaker 1: And they felt if they did that, the interest rates
- 18:27Speaker 1: would go up and it would be further in the hole.
- 18:29Speaker 1: We kind of bailed them out for our own selfish reasons.
- 18:31Speaker 1: Go ahead.
- 18:33Speaker 8: Yeah, that's what I said the other day. And I
- 18:35Speaker 8: also mentioned that they're probably cashing in treasuries to pay
- 18:40Speaker 8: for the high price of oil because... They import 90%
- 18:45Speaker 8: of their oil. They have very little oil. Now, G2
- 18:49Speaker 8: has given you a hard time the other day because
- 18:52Speaker 8: he thinks everything is affordable and Republican. Economic policies are
- 18:57Speaker 8: good for the country. Now, I'm going to give G2
- 19:00Speaker 8: a reality check. Walmart's stock is dropping because investors fear
- 19:06Speaker 8: that more Americans will not be able to afford basic
- 19:10Speaker 8: necessities like food and clothes. And, Ron, gold is soaring
- 19:15Speaker 8: in price because Wall Street expects inflation to get worse.
- 19:20Speaker 8: It's not just gold. All my commodity stocks are soaring.
- 19:24Speaker 8: If you've got copper going up, you've got platinum going up, palladium,
- 19:29Speaker 8: iron ore, those costs in most cases are going to
- 19:34Speaker 8: be passed on to the consumer at the retail level.
- 19:39Speaker 8: And oil prices jumped. as Trump threatens economic warfare on Iran.
- 19:45Speaker 8: That was headline news today. But, Ron, I want to
- 19:50Speaker 8: say to G2, 92% of Americans say they have delayed
- 19:56Speaker 8: or totally abandoned medical care because they fear the cost,
- 20:01Speaker 8: especially the young generation. Young people are not getting the
- 20:05Speaker 8: care they need because of the cost. And a recent
- 20:10Speaker 8: study says that AI, artificial intelligence, is also making health
- 20:16Speaker 8: care more expensive, not cheaper. Only the middle class and
- 20:21Speaker 8: the millionaires are getting the care they need. Now, a
- 20:25Speaker 8: recent study by the Tax Policy Center found that G2' s
- 20:30Speaker 8: beloved tariff taxes are regressive. meaning it is hurting lower
- 20:35Speaker 8: income earners a lot more than higher income earners. And
- 20:40Speaker 8: another study has shown that every taxpayer dollar spent on
- 20:45Speaker 8: the military is ineffective in creating a significant number of jobs.
- 20:51Speaker 3: And Ron, you.
- 20:52Speaker 8: Know that interest rate debt is now the largest expense
- 20:58Speaker 8: item in the federal budget. larger than the war expense,
- 21:02Speaker 8: and Social Security.
- 21:04Speaker 1: Isn't that something? It was the second biggest expense, other
- 21:11Speaker 1: than Social Security, was just the interest payment on the debt.
- 21:14Speaker 1: Just paying the interest, not lowering it all. But we
- 21:17Speaker 1: continue to run the debt up, and interest rates are
- 21:21Speaker 1: going up because of the demand for borrowing money from
- 21:26Speaker 1: the government. Supply and demand. Government's borrowing so much money.
- 21:29Speaker 1: AI's borrowing so much money to expand that interest rates
- 21:32Speaker 1: are going up without the Fed raising them. And now
- 21:35Speaker 1: as a result of that, you're saying that the interest
- 21:37Speaker 1: is now the number one expense. And what do you
- 21:39Speaker 1: get for it?
- 21:40Speaker 5: Nothing.
- 21:41Speaker 1: You're not paying the debt down. You're getting absolutely nothing.
- 21:45Speaker 1: It's a terrible position that all of these politicians have
- 21:48Speaker 1: put this country in, Democrats and Republicans. And the chickens
- 21:54Speaker 1: are coming home to roost.
- 21:56Speaker 8: Well, you know, Ron, I had called your show, I
- 21:59Speaker 8: don't know, a year and a half ago, something like that.
- 22:03Speaker 8: I said I was looking at a technical chart of
- 22:06Speaker 8: interest rate debt. And I said it was the scariest
- 22:09Speaker 8: thing I'd ever seen. If you see, like, stocks uptrending,
- 22:14Speaker 8: it goes up a few days, then goes down a
- 22:17Speaker 8: little bit. Goes up a few more days, a few
- 22:20Speaker 8: more weeks.
- 22:21Speaker 5: Goes down.
- 22:22Speaker 1: Stand by. Stand by. Let me do my break. I'll
- 22:24Speaker 1: come back. Wrap it up with Frank. Take more of
- 22:26Speaker 1: your calls. Some insights from Frank ahead. News Radio 570 WKVN.
- 22:36Speaker 9: Police in Canton are looking for a woman suspected in
- 22:38Speaker 9: a double shooting. 24-year-old Nikala Smith allegedly shot two women
- 22:42Speaker 9: Tuesday night on 6th Street Southwest. The victims were taken
- 22:46Speaker 9: to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Smith, meanwhile, is considered
- 22:50Speaker 9: armed and dangerous. One man is seriously injured after trying
- 22:54Speaker 9: to break up a fight in the Cincinnati area Wednesday afternoon.
- 22:57Speaker 9: Officers responded to the scene on Vine Street in Elmwood
- 23:00Speaker 9: Place to find the victim shot in the chest. The
- 23:03Speaker 9: suspect was taken into custody several hours later. Voters could
- 23:06Speaker 9: get a say in the future of the former Avon
- 23:08Speaker 9: Lake power plant site. A group has submitted a proposed
- 23:11Speaker 9: charter amendment that would require voter approval for rezoning or
- 23:15Speaker 9: tax increment financing tied to the 131-acre property. City Council
- 23:20Speaker 9: previously approved zoning changes allowing mixed-use development at the site.
- 23:24Speaker 1: I'm Andy Betts.

- 23:30Speaker 10: and sports radio.
- 23:31Speaker 11: Podcast 2.
- 23:32Speaker 1: Download the app.
- 23:34Speaker 11: Free never sounded so good.
- 23:35Speaker 1: A to Z dependable on verb. On NewsRadio 570 WKBN.
- 23:42Speaker 1: All right, 335 in the afternoon, NewsRadio 570 WKBN. So it's...
- 23:48Speaker 1: It's not a good scenario. You were talking about, and
- 23:53Speaker 1: to the caller before you, about one party. They all
- 23:56Speaker 1: seem to be on the same page. But you've got
- 23:58Speaker 1: to vote for somebody. And in many cases, most of
- 24:01Speaker 1: my life, it has been the lesser of two evils
- 24:04Speaker 1: to a large extent. And there's no way I can
- 24:07Speaker 1: vote for Amy Acton. There's no way I could vote
- 24:10Speaker 1: for Sherrod Brown. There's no way I could vote for
- 24:12Speaker 1: any of these crazy Democrats. As far as the ones,
- 24:17Speaker 1: like if you're asking me, do I think AOC should
- 24:20Speaker 1: be president? No, I think she's a nitwit or Gavin Newsom.
- 24:23Speaker 1: I think he's been a lousy governor. I don't see
- 24:26Speaker 1: anybody worthwhile on the Democrat side. And quite frankly, their
- 24:31Speaker 1: agenda and the problems they created, I couldn't vote for
- 24:35Speaker 1: any of them. So sometimes it's the lesser two evils.
- 24:38Speaker 1: I could enthusiastically vote for Ron DeSantis. I could tell
- 24:41Speaker 1: you that. And many of the Republicans, I would support
- 24:47Speaker 1: certainly over any Democrat. And Trump, unfortunately, has been a
- 24:52Speaker 1: little disappointing lately. But we got some serious, I believe, serious,
- 24:57Speaker 1: serious economic issues in this country. I mean, serious economic issues.
- 25:04Speaker 1: And it is in part because of the war and
- 25:08Speaker 1: in part because of the ignorant or ignoring the debt
- 25:11Speaker 1: and deficits. I mean, this idea, interest being your number
- 25:14Speaker 1: one expense, is just lunacy and a waste of your
- 25:17Speaker 1: tax dollars. Okay, go ahead with your comments and what you.
- 25:21Speaker 12: Have to add.
- 25:22Speaker 8: Well, I've never voted Republican or Democrat. I've always voted Libertarian.
- 25:29Speaker 8: And interest rate expense is growing at an exponential rate
- 25:34Speaker 8: with no end in sight. How long before interest rate
- 25:38Speaker 8: expense takes every taxpayer dollar to service? And Apple had
- 25:44Speaker 8: its worst post-earnings drop in 13 years. Tim Cook, the
- 25:50Speaker 8: CEO of Apple, said he will now buy fewer chips
- 25:53Speaker 8: from Micron Technology and more chips from other memory suppliers.
- 26:00Speaker 8: And on this news, Micron Stop had another big drop.
- 26:05Speaker 1: Yeah. It's not good. I mean, I don't see any
- 26:09Speaker 1: good economic signs. Do you?
- 26:12Speaker 4: No, I don't.
- 26:13Speaker 8: But, you know, Ron, millions of young people are facing
- 26:18Speaker 8: collection efforts and wage garnishment on top of all the
- 26:23Speaker 8: other challenges they face at the worst possible time.
- 26:28Speaker 1: I read this to John Arnold last night. I've got
- 26:34Speaker 1: to see if I can find it again. that somebody
- 26:38Speaker 1: had posted. And I thought it was really, really well
- 26:42Speaker 1: written here that it had to do with buying a home. Okay,
- 26:48Speaker 1: here it is. Okay, this guy posted this. Now, there's
- 26:52Speaker 1: a picture of the home, okay? There's a picture of
- 26:54Speaker 1: a home. I would describe it. It'd be hard for
- 26:56Speaker 1: you to understand because you're in Florida. But it looks
- 27:01Speaker 1: like a home that you'd see in any of the
- 27:04Speaker 1: Joe Koch developments, all right? It looks... If you're familiar,
- 27:07Speaker 1: it looks like your typical middle class home. All right.
- 27:11Speaker 1: And the guy and the guy says, my dad bought
- 27:13Speaker 1: a house on this street in 1996, working at a
- 27:15Speaker 1: local warehouse. Today, my wife, a nurse and I and
- 27:19Speaker 1: accountants with two full time salaries are struggling to qualify
- 27:23Speaker 1: for a mortgage on houses in the same neighborhood. Young
- 27:26Speaker 1: people didn't suddenly forget how to work hard. Hard work
- 27:29Speaker 1: just stopped buying what it used to. I think that
- 27:32Speaker 1: is spot on, don't you?
- 27:36Speaker 8: Yeah, I mean, I called a week or two ago
- 27:40Speaker 8: and said that Wall Street expects mortgage rates to rise again.
- 27:47Speaker 1: Yeah, interest rates, I told you, are going up. It
- 27:49Speaker 1: doesn't matter what the Fed does because of supply and demands.
- 27:53Speaker 8: Well, the reason why the Fed buys back treasuries is
- 28:00Speaker 8: they can't find enough buyers, foreign buyers to buy our
- 28:04Speaker 8: junk bonds. Interest rates will probably have to go a
- 28:08Speaker 8: lot higher on federal government to get people to buy them.
- 28:13Speaker 1: Well, the problem is exactly as you say. As the
- 28:15Speaker 1: debt of the country continues to go up and as
- 28:18Speaker 1: interest rates go up, the amount of money that we
- 28:21Speaker 1: have to spend on just servicing the debt continues to
- 28:24Speaker 1: go up. We take in $ 4. 5 trillion. In federal taxes
- 28:29Speaker 1: a year, income taxes a year, $ 4. 5 trillion. Well, if
- 28:33Speaker 1: your number one expense is just the interest, you don't
- 28:36Speaker 1: get anything for that. And you're not lowering it. It
- 28:39Speaker 1: just goes on and on and on. And it's just
- 28:43Speaker 1: stupid money management. This country can't afford to give anybody
- 28:46Speaker 1: foreign aid. It's got to take a serious look at
- 28:48Speaker 1: cutting expenditures. And we don't cut Social Security and we
- 28:53Speaker 1: don't cut Medicare. You know, I talk about things that
- 28:56Speaker 1: we shouldn't cut. But you've got the Democrats out there
- 28:59Speaker 1: saying it should be Medicare for all. It should be
- 29:02Speaker 1: another government program. No, we can't afford the ones we
- 29:05Speaker 1: have now, for God's sakes. And the Democrats are out
- 29:08Speaker 1: there championing more stuff. And I'm thinking to myself, are
- 29:11Speaker 1: you paying attention? We're $ 40 trillion in debt. Are you
- 29:15Speaker 1: paying attention to what the interest payments are in this?
- 29:17Speaker 1: And you want to give Medicare for all? The Democrats
- 29:21Speaker 1: are insane. All right, Frank. Thanks, buddy. Appreciate it. As always,
- 29:25Speaker 1: have a great weekend. You're on the air.
- 29:26Speaker 2: You're on the air. Hello.
- 29:30Speaker 5: Yes. Yeah. You know, I've been listening to your talk show,
- 29:37Speaker 5: and I see a lot of these people coming up
- 29:39Speaker 5: to you. and doom all the time. So I'm saying
- 29:42Speaker 5: to myself, what exactly do we want? I mean, do
- 29:45Speaker 5: we want Iran to have a nuclear weapon and kill
- 29:48Speaker 5: us all?
- 29:49Speaker 13: Or what?
- 29:50Speaker 5: Can't we take it for six months and see how
- 29:52Speaker 5: it goes? I mean, you know, it really baffles me
- 29:56Speaker 5: as people come... Keep calling up, gloom and doom, gloom
- 29:59Speaker 5: and doom. You know, the stock went down, the stock
- 30:02Speaker 5: went up. I heard this guy talk about, you know,
- 30:04Speaker 5: micron technology going down. I just heard the interview on CNBC,
- 30:11Speaker 5: and they are talking about nothing but prosperity.
- 30:14Speaker 13: And they are, you.
- 30:15Speaker 5: Know, so I'm saying to myself, what exactly do Americans want?
- 30:22Speaker 5: I mean, do you want a low price forever at
- 30:24Speaker 5: the cost of Iran having a nuclear weapon and killing
- 30:27Speaker 5: us all?
- 30:27Speaker 14: Or what?
- 30:29Speaker 5: It baffles me to listen to all these guys talk
- 30:31Speaker 5: about gloom and doom all the time. And I like
- 30:34Speaker 5: to listen to your comments. Thank you so much.
- 30:37Speaker 1: Thank you for your call. And I'll let your comments
- 30:40Speaker 1: stand and see what people have to say about it.
- 30:42Speaker 1: Let people react to your comments. You're on the air.
- 30:47Speaker 5: Hello? Hello?
- 30:50Speaker 1: Well, I waited for you. I wish you would have
- 30:52Speaker 1: waited for me. You're on the air.
- 30:54Speaker 13: Hello. Well, I waited for you. I wish you'd have
- 30:58Speaker 13: hung up on me.
- 31:00Speaker 1: Well, you know this much. You know that's coming.
- 31:04Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 31:05Speaker 13: Well, listen, a couple, three things. Number one, right? I,
- 31:11Speaker 13: how can I put this? I'm going to defend G2.
- 31:16Speaker 13: I may disagree with him. But I'm going to defend
- 31:20Speaker 13: him in the conversation he had with you. He was
- 31:24Speaker 13: trying to..
- 31:25Speaker 1: I'll defend him. I'll defend him as well. You know,
- 31:28Speaker 1: it's okay for G2 and me to disagree on stuff.
- 31:31Speaker 1: I somewhat enjoyed the conversation. You can disagree. We don't
- 31:35Speaker 1: agree on everything. That's healthy and that's good. As a
- 31:38Speaker 1: matter of fact, you and I don't agree on much,
- 31:41Speaker 1: but it's still... But I don't dislike you at all. Well,
- 31:46Speaker 1: some days I do.
- 31:48Speaker 13: Yeah, well, you got to understand something, Ron.
- 31:50Speaker 5: Yes.
- 31:50Speaker 13: G2 was trying to teach you guys something.
- 31:52Speaker 12: Uh-huh.
- 31:53Speaker 13: And it was a hard lesson for me to learn.
- 31:57Speaker 13: And a guy that retired, he used to work in
- 32:01Speaker 13: your station. I think his first name was Dan. Me
- 32:04Speaker 13: and him went around about something one time, and he
- 32:07Speaker 13: finally got me to listen to him. Now, G2 tried
- 32:12Speaker 13: to teach you guys something, but you guys didn't want
- 32:15Speaker 13: to listen. And what he was trying to teach you
- 32:19Speaker 13: is this. It does not matter how good or how
- 32:25Speaker 13: bad your idea is. If you don't get elected, it
- 32:31Speaker 13: doesn't matter. So if you say something during a campaign
- 32:36Speaker 13: to get you elected, well, so what? You got elected.
- 32:40Speaker 13: So what G2 was trying to tell you guys is, listen.
- 32:46Speaker 13: You're going to vote Republican... regardless of how bad these
- 32:51Speaker 13: guys are. You can have a Republican in the White House,
- 32:55Speaker 13: a Republican in the Republican-held Senate, Republican-held House, Republican-held state governors,
- 33:03Speaker 13: Republican-held state Senate.
- 33:08Speaker 1: You're saying I would vote Republican over Democrats despite my
- 33:14Speaker 1: disagreements with them because the Democrats are much worse. I
- 33:17Speaker 1: would plead guilty to that, Your Honor.
- 33:20Speaker 13: So G2 is trying to tell you guys, get with
- 33:23Speaker 13: the program. The program is we have to get our
- 33:26Speaker 13: guys elected. If our guys don't get elected, then we
- 33:31Speaker 13: will have problems. And what I say to that is,
- 33:35Speaker 13: before I go to the next subject is, The definition
- 33:39Speaker 13: of insanity is doing the same thing over and over
- 33:42Speaker 13: and expecting a different result.
- 33:45Speaker 3: No, wait a minute.
- 33:47Speaker 1: Wait a minute. Dirty pool. Dirty pool here. So here
- 33:55Speaker 1: I think you're—folks, listen. This was masterfully executed by Emanuel.
- 34:01Speaker 1: Right when I think he's going to pay G2 a compliment,
- 34:05Speaker 1: he's saying if he was doing the same thing over
- 34:07Speaker 1: and over again and expecting different results, that's a definition
- 34:10Speaker 1: of insanity. Boy, you got me hook, line, and sinker.
- 34:13Speaker 13: Okay, I'm going to leave on that. Have a nice weekend.
- 34:18Speaker 1: Boy, oh boy, oh boy. Was that something? Boy, he
- 34:23Speaker 1: reeled me in, didn't he? He just reeled me in.
- 34:26Speaker 1: I want to defend G2, and G2' s talking how despite
- 34:31Speaker 1: all of the stuff that's bad that's going on, the
- 34:35Speaker 1: never-ending war, the debt of the country, the bond bailouts,
- 34:40Speaker 1: and all this kind of stuff, he's just making a
- 34:44Speaker 1: point that you've got to get more Republicans elected because...
- 34:52Speaker 1: You'll get different results. What do they say? If you
- 34:58Speaker 1: expect different, do the same thing. Expect different results. It's, oh, boy,
- 35:01Speaker 1: did he reel me in. Boy, did he get me good.
- 35:04Speaker 1: News Radio 570. But it's like I say, and I'm realistic,
- 35:08Speaker 1: there is absolutely no possible way I would ever vote
- 35:12Speaker 1: for Sherry Brown. Sherrod Brown is a left-wing Biden supporting
- 35:18Speaker 1: every wacky thing that Biden did. I cannot go back
- 35:21Speaker 1: to a party that thinks men can have babies. I
- 35:24Speaker 1: cannot go back to a party that can't define what
- 35:26Speaker 1: a woman is. I can't go back to a party
- 35:29Speaker 1: that says we want to appoint a Supreme Court justice,
- 35:31Speaker 1: but the justice must be black and female and is
- 35:35Speaker 1: just probably one of the lowest IQ members of that
- 35:39Speaker 1: court ever.
- 35:41Speaker 15: And..
- 35:42Speaker 1: I can't go back to that party that says we've
- 35:44Speaker 1: got to have all this transgender nonsense. So I can't
- 35:50Speaker 1: go back to that party on its social agenda and
- 35:52Speaker 1: certainly not on its economic agenda, which created the bulk
- 35:57Speaker 1: of this inflation and its energy agenda. There is absolutely
- 36:02Speaker 1: no way as an alternative I can say that's a
- 36:05Speaker 1: better choice as a thinking man. So sometimes it's the
- 36:09Speaker 1: lesser of two evils, but... I would absolutely be voting
- 36:16Speaker 1: for the Republican John Houston. And absolutely be voting for
- 36:22Speaker 1: the Republican candidate for governor of Ohio. So, you know, there,
- 36:30Speaker 1: I mean, there you have it. Now, these are in
- 36:33Speaker 1: your state races and your federal races. So there you
- 36:40Speaker 1: have it.
- 36:41Speaker 5: All right.
- 36:42Speaker 1: Boy, did he get me good. You're on the air.
- 36:45Speaker 16: Yeah, I have some updates on property tax collections. Becky
- 36:48Speaker 16: and I were at Rogers Flea Market today, and we
- 36:51Speaker 16: had a good day getting signatures and picked up six circulators.
- 36:54Speaker 16: I had packets ready for anyone who wanted to be
- 36:56Speaker 16: a circulator, and I'm going to do that at the Canfield.
- 36:58Speaker 3: Fair as well.
- 37:00Speaker 16: So if you signed at the fair already, if you
- 37:02Speaker 16: want to stop in the tent and get a packet,
- 37:04Speaker 16: you could circulate a little bit among people you know.
- 37:07Speaker 16: I was at the Ashtabula County Fair last weekend, which
- 37:11Speaker 16: was my first time there. Very small fair, but we
- 37:14Speaker 16: did great. We got like 500 signatures over the course
- 37:16Speaker 16: of the fair.
- 37:18Speaker 4: So that's really.
- 37:18Speaker 16: Good for a small fair. Brian Massey has a new
- 37:22Speaker 16: hat out, Axe Ohio Tax Hat.
- 37:24Speaker 13: It's black.
- 37:25Speaker 16: It's got white lettering and red lettering on it. He
- 37:28Speaker 16: wants to know if you want me to get you
- 37:30Speaker 16: a copy. Would you like a hat from Axe Ohio Tax?
- 37:34Speaker 1: Anything Brian Massey is willing to do, I'm 100% for.
- 37:38Speaker 1: He is a great, he is really, first of all,
- 37:41Speaker 1: I got a world of respect for all you are doing.
- 37:43Speaker 1: I mean, you are just giving it your all. And
- 37:47Speaker 1: you represent everything great about citizens getting involved to try
- 37:51Speaker 1: to make a change. giving up so much of your
- 37:54Speaker 1: free time. It's just so admirable. And Becky, in your
- 37:57Speaker 1: entire organization, and Brian Massey. And anytime I talk with Pleschnik,
- 38:02Speaker 1: it is just, every time I talk with Commissioner John
- 38:04Speaker 1: Pleschnik from Lake County, whenever I end that conversation, I
- 38:08Speaker 1: just think that is a smart man.
- 38:11Speaker 17: Oh, yeah.
- 38:12Speaker 15: Yeah.
- 38:12Speaker 16: He was good on the show. I heard it the
- 38:15Speaker 16: last time he was on your show a couple weeks ago.
- 38:17Speaker 17: He's really good.
- 38:17Speaker 16: He helped our movement a lot.
- 38:19Speaker 1: Oh, he's so smart.
- 38:21Speaker 16: He's very dynamic.
- 38:22Speaker 1: I would love to see a guy like that actually
- 38:24Speaker 1: become governor of the state. I genuinely would with his philosophy.
- 38:28Speaker 1: The state would be much better off. So the fair
- 38:30Speaker 1: is September 2nd through Labor Day. So let's see. So
- 38:34Speaker 1: that's about a couple weeks away.
- 38:37Speaker 15: Oh, yeah.
- 38:37Speaker 16: We'll be collecting all days of the fair. So come
- 38:40Speaker 16: see us. We're sort of on the corner of Smith
- 38:43Speaker 16: and Poland streets once you're inside the fair.
- 38:46Speaker 1: I really think you should think about getting like a
- 38:48Speaker 1: lemon shake stand and also take signatures. There's no reason, Denise,
- 38:52Speaker 1: you can't make a buck or two while you're out
- 38:55Speaker 1: there and maybe cook some fries, maybe a kielbasa sandwich.
- 39:01Speaker 1: And in addition to getting signatures, it could be a
- 39:03Speaker 1: whole new career for you. Let's do it this way.
- 39:07Speaker 1: Becky could be making the lemon shakes and the fries.
- 39:11Speaker 1: You could be collecting the signatures.
- 39:13Speaker 16: Frank could be drilling some stuff, yeah.
- 39:16Speaker 3: Yes.
- 39:16Speaker 1: I think it all worked together. It's time to get
- 39:19Speaker 1: yourself a trailer and begin that carny life that you
- 39:23Speaker 1: so desire.
- 39:24Speaker 17: Well, what I'm.
- 39:25Speaker 16: Hoping is we're so busy taking signatures, we would have
- 39:28Speaker 16: no time to do that.
- 39:29Speaker 1: Well, I don't.
- 39:30Speaker 18: My plan.
- 39:30Speaker 1: There's three of you. Somebody could be doing the fries
- 39:33Speaker 1: and lemon shakes. The other two could be getting signatures.
- 39:35Speaker 16: Listen, I got 20 volunteers lined up to help me.
- 39:38Speaker 19: 20 people.
- 39:40Speaker 16: And I got people coming in from Lake, from Portage,
- 39:42Speaker 16: and from Stark.
- 39:43Speaker 4: To work a couple shifts.
- 39:45Speaker 1: Really?
- 39:45Speaker 16: We're hopefully going to.
- 39:46Speaker 1: Stand by. Stand by.
- 39:48Speaker 5: Stand by.
- 39:48Speaker 1: Back with Denise and more in a minute. Stay tuned.
- 39:55Speaker 11: Your one stop for advertising? Call 844-844-IHEART.
- 40:00Speaker 1: Monday's just got better at Springfield Grill. Enjoy half price
- 40:04Speaker 1: wine all day long. Great food, amazing value. Cheers to Monday.
- 40:09Speaker 20: No required subscriptions, no trial periods, no surprise charges, no
- 40:13Speaker 20: monthly fees.
- 40:14Speaker 11: I Heart Radio is different.
- 40:15Speaker 1: It's 100% free.
- 40:17Speaker 11: Download the I Heart Radio app now. I'm not great
- 40:20Speaker 11: with words after a fight.
- 40:21Speaker 1: WKBN. All right, it's 3.54 in the afternoon. Go ahead, Denise.
- 40:27Speaker 16: Yeah, so again, if people want to sign at the
- 40:29Speaker 16: fair or if they've already signed and they want to
- 40:31Speaker 16: come out and get a packet, I'll give them a
- 40:33Speaker 16: packet so they can circulate. It'll have instructions and petitions
- 40:36Speaker 16: in there. You know, even if you get 10 or 20,
- 40:38Speaker 16: that's really what we need people to do across the
- 40:41Speaker 16: state of Ohio. We should just get a sum, and
- 40:44Speaker 16: then the rest of us, you know, we're just doing
- 40:45Speaker 16: as much as we can out.
- 40:46Speaker 7: There, so..
- 40:48Speaker 1: Well, if you don't want to do, like, a stand
- 40:50Speaker 1: in addition to get the signatures, what about, like, the
- 40:53Speaker 1: balloons and darts? And if you, you know, hit four balloons,
- 40:56Speaker 1: you get a teddy bear. It's something I'm trying to do.
- 40:58Speaker 16: Juan, you're giving me more work.
- 40:59Speaker 21: I don't need more work.
- 41:00Speaker 1: I'm trying to have it so you can get signatures
- 41:04Speaker 1: and make a buck as well. You give all your
- 41:06Speaker 1: time for free, and you're doing all of this, and
- 41:08Speaker 1: we all benefit from it. I'm just trying to get
- 41:11Speaker 1: some money in your pockets.
- 41:12Speaker 3: Okay.
- 41:14Speaker 1: You might enjoy the car.
- 41:15Speaker 16: The money in my pocket is going to be when
- 41:16Speaker 16: this passes.
- 41:17Speaker 1: Yeah, but you were at the Ashtabula Fair. You're at, obviously,
- 41:21Speaker 1: the Canfield Fair. You can make the rounds of the fair.
- 41:23Speaker 1: You might as well make a couple of bucks. You
- 41:26Speaker 1: and Becky there.
- 41:26Speaker 5: All right.
- 41:27Speaker 1: Thank you, Denise. Appreciate it. You're on the air.
- 41:30Speaker 21: It's 10 times.
- 41:35Speaker 1: Maybe you should be out there with Denise and Becky
- 41:38Speaker 1: when they're collecting signatures just.
- 41:41Speaker 2: To make an appearance.
- 41:45Speaker 1: You should be there making an appearance. Say, here's J.J.
- 41:49Speaker 1: the Trumpster, formerly J.J.
- 41:50Speaker 12: The Liberal.
- 41:51Speaker 21: It'd be like, well, who's asking for the signature?
- 41:57Speaker 7: Yes.
- 41:58Speaker 21: She's bringing in hired guns now. She's getting people from outside.
- 42:02Speaker 21: She's just doing some wonderful work.
- 42:04Speaker 3: She really was.
- 42:05Speaker 21: She was a real pleasant person when I met her.
- 42:07Speaker 21: She was very receptive.
- 42:09Speaker 1: Do you go to the fair? JJ, do you attend
- 42:12Speaker 1: the fair?
- 42:13Speaker 17: Pardon me?
- 42:14Speaker 1: Do you go to the Canfield Fair?
- 42:17Speaker 21: I go one time with, you know, because my... My
- 42:20Speaker 21: son's a little sensitive to noise and crowds, and he
- 42:23Speaker 21: tries to go in the evening.
- 42:24Speaker 1: I mean, you could always leave him home and go
- 42:28Speaker 1: by yourself. I mean, it is possible. I mean, sometimes
- 42:34Speaker 1: you get strayed out by yourself. By the way, let's
- 42:36Speaker 1: get an update, an important update. How's the destruction of
- 42:39Speaker 1: the Rite Aid doing in Cornersburg? Live, my cub reporter
- 42:44Speaker 1: live from Cornersburg on the destruction of the Rite Aid
- 42:48Speaker 1: where they're going to be building a sheet station across
- 42:50Speaker 1: from the Walgreens, which is about, what, five places from
- 42:56Speaker 1: your headquarters. What do you see? What's going on down there?
- 43:00Speaker 17: Well, Ron, this is J.J.
- 43:01Speaker 3: On the spot.
- 43:02Speaker 5: Yes.
- 43:02Speaker 21: I'm out here, and I'm observing the teardown of the
- 43:06Speaker 21: old Rite Aid, and they're going to be the creation
- 43:09Speaker 21: of the new sheets, I believe it is, or.
- 43:11Speaker 3: The seaway that we spoke of.
- 43:13Speaker 1: It's the sheets.
- 43:14Speaker 21: And they're getting it lowered there, and we'll be expecting
- 43:17Speaker 21: probably a christening or a ribbon cutting here probably in
- 43:21Speaker 21: the beginning of next year. And so it looks like we're...
- 43:25Speaker 21: Let's get a hold of one of these people. Nobody
- 43:27Speaker 21: wants to speak to me as they're going by here,
- 43:29Speaker 21: but it's coming along.
- 43:30Speaker 5: It's not as.
- 43:33Speaker 21: Bad as it is, but I just noticed again, you
- 43:35Speaker 21: wondered why I was so, not against it, but a
- 43:38Speaker 21: little bit apprehensive. I came to the garage today and
- 43:43Speaker 21: put my son playing the pool and that, and there's
- 43:45Speaker 21: people that are just racing down the street, which is, the.
- 43:49Speaker 3: Speed limit's 25 at best.
- 43:52Speaker 21: And, you know, what they do is they cut through
- 43:55Speaker 21: because they don't want to hit the light. They're coming
- 43:57Speaker 21: up from tip of canoe from Boardman. So they go
- 44:00Speaker 21: down that little lower part and they come up over
- 44:02Speaker 21: the little crest of the hill there.
- 44:03Speaker 1: Now, wait a minute. I'm trying to get my bearings.
- 44:07Speaker 1: You would be coming up..
- 44:10Speaker 21: You're coming from Boardman on Kippa Canoe.
- 44:12Speaker 1: Yeah, and that takes you right to the light.
- 44:14Speaker 21: You're coming toward Cornersburg.
- 44:17Speaker 1: Standby, standby, standby. Back with my cub reporter on the scene,
- 44:22Speaker 1: JJ reporting live. And I'm going to try to get
- 44:24Speaker 1: my bearings after this.
- 44:26Speaker 7: The Money Talks investment coach, John Arnold Studios. This is
- 44:31Speaker 7: 570 WKBN Youngstown.
- 44:33Speaker 11: An iHeartRadio station. Guaranteed. Human. The president can keep building
- 44:40Speaker 11: the ballroom.
- 44:41Speaker 22: I'm Carmen Roberts, Fox News. That's the temporary ruling from
- 44:44Speaker 22: the Supreme Court as justices continue weighing his emergency appeal.
- 44:49Speaker 23: Chief Justice John Roberts issued the temporary order, which prevents
- 44:52Speaker 23: a lower court order from taking effect that would have
- 44:55Speaker 23: stopped above ground construction on the ballroom. The Supreme Court
- 44:58Speaker 23: will now consider lawsuits aimed at stopping the project. The
- 45:02Speaker 23: order state today was based on the argument that President
- 45:05Speaker 23: Trump did not have congressional approval. The administration has argued
- 45:09Speaker 23: that the president has the right to renovate the White
- 45:11Speaker 23: House and other federal buildings as necessary.
- 45:14Speaker 1: Kevin Uretsky, Fox News.
- 45:16Speaker 22: In a speech today, President Trump said it's better to
- 45:19Speaker 22: end the war with Iran now because the U.S. has
- 45:21Speaker 22: decimated the country and he's getting ready to unleash financial
- 45:25Speaker 22: punishment with his economic D-Day.
- 45:27Speaker 24: But Iran is not backing down and saying it will
- 45:31Speaker 24: fight and will withstand.
- 45:33Speaker 11: The economic pressure.
- 45:34Speaker 24: Iran's parliamentary speaker saying we must make plans to deal
- 45:38Speaker 24: with the unjust sanctions so that we can overcome them.
- 45:43Speaker 22: Fox's Jonathan Hunt in Tel Aviv. The defense team for
- 45:46Speaker 22: Lindsay Clancy, who is on trial for the murder of
- 45:49Speaker 22: her three children in Massachusetts, rusted its case today.
- 45:53Speaker 25: The defense closed with forensic psychiatrist Dr. Philip Resnick. He
- 45:57Speaker 25: is the leading expert in cases in which parents... kill
- 46:00Speaker 25: their children, testifying via Zoom that Lindsay Clancy delusionally followed
- 46:05Speaker 25: a male voice commanding her to kill, believing it was
- 46:08Speaker 25: morally right. Resnick also testified that Clancy is not faking
- 46:13Speaker 25: her symptoms. But in a tense moment on cross-examination, prosecutors
- 46:17Speaker 25: pointed out Clancy's medical records never showed homicidal thoughts.
- 46:22Speaker 22: Fox's Brian Yannis reporting from Plymouth. Closing arguments could begin
- 46:26Speaker 22: on Monday. America's listening to Fox News.
- 46:36Speaker 11: Hello, everyone. This is Ainsley Earhart.

- 47:35Speaker 1: A to Z. Ron Verb on News Radio 570 WKBN. Well, hidey-ho,
- 47:42Speaker 1: 4.05 in the afternoon, News Radio 570 WKBN. Boys and girls,
- 47:46Speaker 1: Ron Verb from the Kingdom of Mahoning on Friday, August
- 47:49Speaker 1: 21st with 82 Degrees. Where's my cub reporter? J.J., are
- 47:52Speaker 1: you there?
- 47:52Speaker 3: Hello?
- 47:54Speaker 1: Oh, hang on. J.J., are you there?
- 47:57Speaker 21: Yes, Ron. Yes, I'm here on Canfield Road.
- 48:00Speaker 27: On location.
- 48:00Speaker 1: I'm observing them now.
- 48:02Speaker 16: Yes, yes.
- 48:03Speaker 1: Okay, JJ.
- 48:04Speaker 21: You're breaking in and out there, Ron. I'm trying to
- 48:06Speaker 21: keep a... All right.
- 48:09Speaker 1: I mean, JJ's out there on location where they've ripped
- 48:12Speaker 1: down the Rite Aid, where they're going to put up
- 48:14Speaker 1: a sheet. You have on, like on the war zones,
- 48:17Speaker 1: you have on a bulletproof vest that says press and
- 48:19Speaker 1: a helmet, right? That's out there that says press as
- 48:23Speaker 1: you're standing there on the sidewalk observing. Now, from your observation,
- 48:28Speaker 1: most of the work down there, the building has pretty
- 48:31Speaker 1: well been torn down. And from my observation point, do
- 48:35Speaker 1: you see that the building is pretty well ripped down
- 48:38Speaker 1: as far as the former Rite Aid, J.J.? Flat as
- 48:40Speaker 1: a pancake, Ron. Flat as a pancake.
- 48:45Speaker 3: Right.
- 48:45Speaker 1: Flat as a pancake. Are there large dumpsters there, J.J.,
- 48:49Speaker 1: that they seem to be putting in recycled material and
- 48:51Speaker 1: things like that?
- 48:52Speaker 21: No, they have the dump trucks coming in and out.
- 48:54Speaker 3: I actually got a hold of it.
- 48:55Speaker 21: I talked to one of the drivers, and he's enjoying himself,
- 48:59Speaker 21: making a little overtime here. And since Trump's no tax
- 49:03Speaker 21: on overtime, that's actually working very, very good for him today.
- 49:07Speaker 21: So he's quite happy here.
- 49:10Speaker 1: So he's making overtime. Now you were talking about some
- 49:12Speaker 1: of your concern, J.J., our cub reporter on the scene
- 49:17Speaker 1: here in Cornersburg, where they ripped down Rite Aid to
- 49:19Speaker 1: build a sheet store. Your concern was– I'm trying to
- 49:23Speaker 1: get the bearings. Meridian Road, you're not talking Meridian Road
- 49:26Speaker 1: where they're talking.
- 49:27Speaker 21: No, I'm on the– the Boardman side of, as soon
- 49:32Speaker 21: as you hit Canfield Road, once you pass over Canfield,
- 49:35Speaker 21: where the spark was, you're going toward Mahoning Avenue, that's
- 49:41Speaker 21: Austin Town, where I'm at right now is on the
- 49:44Speaker 21: Boardman side. But when you're coming down, say, Tipper Canoe
- 49:47Speaker 21: from Boardman, and you're going down it, you come to
- 49:50Speaker 21: that little lip area, it kind of rises up, and
- 49:54Speaker 21: then you cross to the... where the Walgreens is at,
- 50:00Speaker 21: the people are going to the light, and then if
- 50:03Speaker 21: they make a right to go on Campbell Road toward
- 50:06Speaker 21: the park, they make that cut on Sunnybrook.
- 50:10Speaker 3: Yes.
- 50:10Speaker 17: And we live.
- 50:11Speaker 28: On Sunnybrook, and they make that right right there, and
- 50:14Speaker 28: they just don't realize that it's really a community right
- 50:16Speaker 28: here where there's some children And even if you're not,
- 50:20Speaker 28: if you're out there cutting the grass, you can get
- 50:23Speaker 28: by a pancake, you know, like a pancake.
- 50:24Speaker 21: In fact, I'm kind of hungry for pancakes.
- 50:26Speaker 1: I detected that you were hungry for pancakes because you've
- 50:28Speaker 1: mentioned them now twice, but you're concerned about speeders. You're
- 50:34Speaker 1: concerned about speeders on Sunnybrook. So you're doing more than
- 50:37Speaker 1: just covering the tearing down of Rite Aid. You're also
- 50:41Speaker 1: giving traffic reports.
- 50:42Speaker 2: I mean, And so I'm also setting.
- 50:44Speaker 21: Up my dinner for tonight, too. So actually, I'll be
- 50:47Speaker 21: doing a little. I'm multitasking.
- 50:51Speaker 13: You're wrong.
- 50:51Speaker 21: I'm multitasking.
- 50:52Speaker 1: In your phone call, you've accomplished four things, folks. Let's
- 50:55Speaker 1: review the four things. He's done a live report on
- 50:58Speaker 1: the destruction of Rite Aid for the sheets. He's updated
- 51:01Speaker 1: all of us. He's reported on speeding in the area
- 51:04Speaker 1: as well. He's done that. He's also become J.J. the
- 51:09Speaker 1: Trumpster in reminding the dump truck driver how he's making
- 51:12Speaker 1: overtime and there's no tax on overtime. And also he's
- 51:17Speaker 1: planned his dinner because he mentioned pancakes and he is
- 51:20Speaker 1: going to go get some pancakes tonight.
- 51:22Speaker 3: Right.
- 51:23Speaker 21: I got breakfast on the mind for dinner, and so
- 51:25Speaker 21: I mean, if I go out there and I hop there,
- 51:28Speaker 21: you never know, I might be able to take care
- 51:30Speaker 21: of all the things. But that's the thing I get
- 51:32Speaker 21: my concern is.
- 51:34Speaker 1: Do you have a mask on? I mean, I don't
- 51:36Speaker 1: know how much dust there is in the area from
- 51:38Speaker 1: the destruction of where the building is down, but there
- 51:41Speaker 1: could be dust lingering. I don't want you to get
- 51:43Speaker 1: any type of diseases from the construction debris.
- 51:47Speaker 13: Just a little bit.
- 51:50Speaker 21: Just a little bit. I think I might have to
- 51:55Speaker 21: just depart from the area here.
- 51:56Speaker 3: So, listen, Ron, have a great.
- 51:58Speaker 1: Weekend, my friend. All right, there you go, live on
- 52:01Speaker 1: the scene, J.J. My cub reporter, as he reports live
- 52:06Speaker 1: on location where they ripped down the Rite Aid to
- 52:09Speaker 1: put up a sheet store in Cornersburg and talking about
- 52:15Speaker 1: speeding cars. All right, you're on the air.
- 52:18Speaker 12: He also doxxed himself pretty good, too.
- 52:21Speaker 1: I think it was just– he is really– actually, J.J.
- 52:25Speaker 1: has got a great sense of humor. He does. He
- 52:28Speaker 1: might be one of the best actors on radio since,
- 52:31Speaker 1: you know, the old days. You know, Horses Gallop. You
- 52:34Speaker 1: know how they did those old shows on radio? I
- 52:37Speaker 1: think J.J. encompasses all of that. I could picture him
- 52:40Speaker 1: out there on the corner, though, couldn't you, with the
- 52:43Speaker 1: press vest on, you know, the bulletproof vest like they
- 52:45Speaker 1: were in a war zone, the helmet?
- 52:47Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 52:48Speaker 1: That says press as he's out there by the right
- 52:50Speaker 1: aid that is no more. All right, so Miguel.
- 52:55Speaker 12: Except I keep picturing Winnie the Pooh. I wish I
- 52:58Speaker 12: knew what he looked like, so I wouldn't keep thinking
- 53:01Speaker 12: of Winnie Pooh.
- 53:02Speaker 1: I think people say he sounds more like Tigger when
- 53:05Speaker 1: he laughs, not Winnie the Pooh.
- 53:07Speaker 12: Yeah, sorry, sorry, sorry.
- 53:08Speaker 1: It's more like when he laughs, it's more like.
- 53:12Speaker 12: Oh, wow, you did that.
- 53:13Speaker 3: Great.
- 53:13Speaker 1: It's more like Tigger. Now we switch from the Cornersburg
- 53:17Speaker 1: area to go to the guru of Gerard. Come in. Over.
- 53:22Speaker 3: Hey.
- 53:22Speaker 12: Oh, one other thing as I was listening. I'm sorry
- 53:26Speaker 12: I forgot the woman's first name that's collecting all the signatures.
- 53:28Speaker 1: Denise. Denise.
- 53:29Speaker 12: Denise, sorry.
- 53:30Speaker 1: And don't forget her helper. Denise and her helper, the nephew.
- 53:36Speaker 3: Okay.
- 53:40Speaker 12: So, Denise, by next week, hopefully, I'll give this to
- 53:45Speaker 12: Ron and he'll give it to you, but you'll be
- 53:47Speaker 12: able to check if a voter is registered before they
- 53:51Speaker 12: sign your petition. Right from your phone. Because of Mike
- 53:57Speaker 12: the Guru. Really? Yeah, I sent you an email, Ron,
- 54:02Speaker 12: that has the link to it. I did just for
- 54:04Speaker 12: Trouble County. It's really cool. I remember about my goal,
- 54:07Speaker 12: my mission, is to reduce taxes by more efficient processing.
- 54:14Speaker 1: Yeah, but whenever I click on that link, all I
- 54:16Speaker 1: see is you flexing with your shirt off. Is that
- 54:20Speaker 1: the link you meant.
- 54:20Speaker 12: To send me? Oh, you got the porn link?
- 54:24Speaker 1: It's you standing there with your shirt off, flexing your muscles.
- 54:28Speaker 1: And I don't know that I want to look at that.
- 54:32Speaker 12: Well, they are getting bigger, you know, with all that
- 54:34Speaker 12: brickwork I'm doing up front there.
- 54:35Speaker 5: I can feel it, man.
- 54:36Speaker 12: It's like it's working out. Yeah, yeah.
- 54:38Speaker 1: There's nothing worse than a guy your age with his
- 54:40Speaker 1: shirt off.
- 54:42Speaker 12: Oh, I have to, though. When it was so hot, like,
- 54:45Speaker 12: I know.
- 54:45Speaker 1: Here's the first tip I have for anyone. Once you're
- 54:48Speaker 1: over 60 years of age... Do not take your T-shirt
- 54:52Speaker 1: off when you're working in the yard or anywhere else
- 54:55Speaker 1: as a man. It's disgusting, okay? I mean, that's just–
- 55:00Speaker 1: and I'm saying that from personal experience. Things just change
- 55:04Speaker 1: as you get older. Once you're beyond 60, keep your
- 55:07Speaker 1: T-shirt on for the love of God.
- 55:10Speaker 12: Especially after you've been under the knife a bunch of times.
- 55:13Speaker 1: Oh, like you. That would be– oh, that would almost– yeah,
- 55:16Speaker 1: it would be disgusting to look at all those scars
- 55:18Speaker 1: and everything like that.
- 55:19Speaker 12: Yeah, I'm like a patchwork railroad.
- 55:22Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, that would really be very disturbing. Very frightening
- 55:26Speaker 1: to children in the neighborhood. Yeah.
- 55:30Speaker 12: You know, I like my neighborhood now. We're starting to
- 55:33Speaker 12: get some good kids that are out playing. Many of
- 55:37Speaker 12: them have the e-bikes too much, you know? Like, they
- 55:40Speaker 12: don't have the same reason I do. But they're all,
- 55:43Speaker 12: there's kind of a bunch of good kids.
- 55:45Speaker 1: How old are you now? 63.
- 55:49Speaker 12: How old?
- 55:52Speaker 1: 63.
- 55:52Speaker 3: 63.
- 55:52Speaker 12: Okay.
- 55:53Speaker 1: Well, you're lucky you made it to 63 with all
- 55:56Speaker 1: the health problems you've had.
- 55:58Speaker 11: I know.
- 56:00Speaker 12: And I, I, you know, every day for me is
- 56:02Speaker 12: like a good day, you know, because now I just
- 56:05Speaker 12: appreciate it. That's why I'm, why, why am I doing
- 56:08Speaker 12: all this stuff? Like, you know, the auditor function for
- 56:10Speaker 12: the entire state of Ohio and because I can't, because
- 56:13Speaker 12: I want to like make a difference. I don't have
- 56:14Speaker 12: anything else to do in life.
- 56:16Speaker 1: So, Well, don't you think you've made a difference? See,
- 56:18Speaker 1: this is what disturbs me about people like you when
- 56:20Speaker 1: you say, well, I want to make a difference. Well,
- 56:23Speaker 1: don't you think you made a difference? You went to work.
- 56:26Speaker 1: You paid your taxes. You got a wonderful wife, and
- 56:30Speaker 1: you lived a good life.
- 56:31Speaker 12: I've created two wonderful children that.
- 56:33Speaker 1: Are successful in this world. Don't you think that that is–
- 56:39Speaker 1: Your greatest accomplishment. I mean, when you sit back and
- 56:42Speaker 1: reflect on your life, don't you say probably the most
- 56:46Speaker 1: important decisions you made in your life was when you
- 56:49Speaker 1: got married and when you brought those beautiful children into
- 56:52Speaker 1: the world and obviously being able to provide for them,
- 56:55Speaker 1: that that is really what life is all about. Everything
- 56:58Speaker 1: else is just bullcrap. Would you not agree?
- 57:03Speaker 12: I do not say it's bull crap. I would say
- 57:05Speaker 12: that those.
- 57:06Speaker 1: Are more important than some things.
- 57:07Speaker 12: But they're still important things.
- 57:10Speaker 1: I'd like to be a.
- 57:11Speaker 12: Productive member of society for as many days as I'm here.
- 57:16Speaker 12: And this is my goal. I mean, you know it yourself, Ron.
- 57:23Speaker 12: The status quo is not working.
- 57:25Speaker 1: No, it is not. I agree.
- 57:27Speaker 12: We are paying way too much for way too little.
- 57:30Speaker 1: Let me put it this way to you. When you
- 57:33Speaker 1: talk about the status quo, like I've been doing some
- 57:37Speaker 1: prerecorded interviews that I've been doing of some of the
- 57:39Speaker 1: local politicians. We'll be running them at some point. But
- 57:45Speaker 1: we have some impressive results. guys on the, on the
- 57:48Speaker 1: local fronts. I, I did, uh, I did a brief
- 57:51Speaker 1: interview with Tex Fisher the other day and I got
- 57:55Speaker 1: to tell you, he's a fairly impressive guy. I mean,
- 57:57Speaker 1: he's an impressive young man. Well, that was my impression.
- 58:00Speaker 1: I thought Tex Fisher was an impressive young man and
- 58:03Speaker 1: I think he's got a bright future in front of him. Uh, I, I, uh,
- 58:07Speaker 1: was talking with, um, Mark DiApolito the other day, and
- 58:12Speaker 1: I think he's an impressive younger man. And I think
- 58:17Speaker 1: he's got a bright future in front of him, a
- 58:19Speaker 1: very bright attorney and a real good– he's just got
- 58:24Speaker 1: a very calming, pleasant way about him. And he's an
- 58:28Speaker 1: attorney and seems to be a very nice guy to me.
- 58:31Speaker 1: I mean, so, you know, I kind of reflect on
- 58:35Speaker 1: all of that. I mean, there's some good people out there.
- 58:40Speaker 12: I'll tell you what, the guy that you talked to,
- 58:43Speaker 12: James Clark from Girard, if you remember.
- 58:47Speaker 1: Oh, I talked to him one time. When you're talking
- 58:49Speaker 1: about people I talked to from Girard, there's one person
- 58:52Speaker 1: I talked to from Girard. Well, there's actually two. There's you,
- 58:58Speaker 1: the guru of Girard, and then there's, of course, on
- 59:01Speaker 1: The Legal Show, attorney James Melfi, who's a pretty damn
- 59:05Speaker 1: good attorney. Yeah, I mean, he's– I mean, attorney Melfi,
- 59:10Speaker 1: he's not only a damn good attorney, but he has
- 59:12Speaker 1: really got a great sense of humor.
- 59:15Speaker 3: Yes.
- 59:16Speaker 12: What was the one he did last night? I actually
- 59:21Speaker 12: sent that– I sent that to his dad. What does
- 59:25Speaker 12: it say?
- 59:28Speaker 1: Can you believe this?
- 59:30Speaker 12: Factory of Sadness.
- 59:32Speaker 1: Yeah, Factory of Sadness.
- 59:35Speaker 12: New Brown Stadium.
- 59:37Speaker 1: Is that what he called it, the Factory of Sadness?
- 59:42Speaker 12: Why would I want to give any money to the
- 59:44Speaker 12: Factory of Sadness? I would give it to schools.
- 59:48Speaker 1: Cracking up. That was a great line, man. The factory
- 59:51Speaker 1: of sadness.
- 59:51Speaker 3: It was.
- 59:52Speaker 1: How about when I was talking to Attorney Melfi on
- 59:55Speaker 1: The Legal Show? This was a classic, I thought. So
- 59:58Speaker 1: I'm talking to Attorney James Melfi, whose dad was mayor
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: a long time of Girard. 24 years. Yeah. And I said,
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: your dad and I are the same age. I think
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: it was his dad's birthday, if I'm not mistaken. It
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: was his dad's birthday.
- 1:00:16Speaker 6: Okay.
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: And I said, well, your dad's this old? He said, no,
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: I don't think he's that old. Now, this is his dad.
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: He said, I don't think he's that old. No, I said,
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: I know he's that old. He's born, him and I
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: are the same age.
- 1:00:32Speaker 12: He guessed him as seven.
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: No, he guessed him, I think he guessed him younger.
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: He didn't. And so I was arguing with the son
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: over his father's age. And guess who was right? Me.
- 1:00:45Speaker 3: You were. Yes.
- 1:00:46Speaker 12: Yes, I knew that.
- 1:00:47Speaker 5: Yes.
- 1:00:48Speaker 12: You guys are the same age.
- 1:00:49Speaker 5: Yes.
- 1:00:50Speaker 12: You and my brother and Jim are all the same age.
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: Yeah. We're all senior citizens. And we couldn't be happier
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: about that.
- 1:01:02Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:01:03Speaker 12: I'm catching up, Ron.
- 1:01:05Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:01:06Speaker 12: Every day I'm alive. I get a little closer.
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: Hey, listen, in all seriousness, you're lucky to be around
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: with all the health issues you've had. I mean, technology
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: is a beautiful thing with some of the great doctors
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: that we have in our area to keep you going.
- 1:01:25Speaker 12: Yeah, I mean, I go back when you go through
- 1:01:28Speaker 12: the cancer treatment stuff, like you've got to get scans
- 1:01:31Speaker 12: and everything. So I keep going through and get scans.
- 1:01:33Speaker 12: And every time I go and I talk to the doctor,
- 1:01:35Speaker 12: I tell her, other things that I've done with the
- 1:01:37Speaker 12: time that she has allotted me.
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: And what does she say? I've got to see another patient.
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: See you later.
- 1:01:44Speaker 12: No, she thinks it's pretty amazing, actually. I mean, if
- 1:01:48Speaker 12: you follow it, I've done a few things since. that happened,
- 1:01:52Speaker 12: you know, and they're just things like, okay, yeah, I just,
- 1:01:55Speaker 12: where am I.
- 1:01:56Speaker 3: Going to do?
- 1:01:56Speaker 13: I'm here.
- 1:01:56Speaker 12: I got to do something. I'm not just sitting around.
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: How did, now, how did all of your, your bout
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: with cancer and having a lung, part of a lung removed,
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: change your life, change your philosophy? How did it change it?
- 1:02:10Speaker 12: Well, I think I told you this, like, I don't
- 1:02:11Speaker 12: have time to fight. I don't, I don't have time
- 1:02:15Speaker 12: for bad feelings. I, every day I ask myself, what
- 1:02:20Speaker 12: am I going to do? Like, let's change the world
- 1:02:22Speaker 12: today in some way. And I'm totally serious. You know,
- 1:02:25Speaker 12: a lot of people say that. I'm not running for office.
- 1:02:28Speaker 2: So, I mean, this is true.
- 1:02:30Speaker 12: It's just, it's made me, I find myself, like, communicating
- 1:02:38Speaker 12: with the soul of my mother and the guy who
- 1:02:41Speaker 12: built this house years ago. And just, I don't know, like,
- 1:02:45Speaker 12: just communicating, like, you know, with those people, like, hey,
- 1:02:49Speaker 12: I want to make a difference. give me a good
- 1:02:52Speaker 12: word from up there. You know, I mean, just, I
- 1:02:53Speaker 12: don't know. Things like that. I don't, every day above
- 1:02:57Speaker 12: ground is a good day. And, and I think, and
- 1:03:02Speaker 12: no matter, you know what, here's what a lot of
- 1:03:05Speaker 12: people don't realize. You know, I went through this, a
- 1:03:07Speaker 12: ton of people went through this. By the way, I
- 1:03:08Speaker 12: think the COVID vaccine had something to do with it.
- 1:03:10Speaker 12: But anyway, a bunch of people go through this, right?
- 1:03:15Speaker 12: And you, it does change your life and it should,
- 1:03:19Speaker 12: but But everybody should feel this way. You just don't
- 1:03:22Speaker 12: realize it until something like that happens.
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: Right. Until you have a health situation and you realize
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: how precious life really is.
- 1:03:36Speaker 12: Yeah, you know, this doesn't have to be. You know,
- 1:03:38Speaker 12: I mean, a lot of people will complain. The guy
- 1:03:39Speaker 12: that calls in says everybody's complaining about things. Yeah, you know,
- 1:03:44Speaker 12: I mean, a lot of people do complain. They don't realize, like,
- 1:03:48Speaker 12: it doesn't have to be. You know, something could happen.
- 1:03:52Speaker 12: You could walk out in the street.
- 1:03:53Speaker 5: Boom.
- 1:03:54Speaker 12: And now what are your complaints?
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: It's it's it's interesting that you mentioned that, you know,
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: I like there's two there's two things that I had
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: been thinking about lately. One today, I was genuinely saddened
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: to see the passing of Bob Bush, who was the
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: police former police chief in Youngstown and. a lawyer, and
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: as I say, a gunner on a helicopter in Vietnam.
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: He's just a hell of a guy. I mean, I've
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: talked to him over the years, God rest his soul,
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: and really enjoyed his company. And I always thought he
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: was a hell of a guy. And then, and then,
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: stand by. Stand by. Bang in there. It's the Guru
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: of Gerard, News Radio 570 WKBN, and Ron Verp from
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: the Kingdom of Mahoning. Ron Verb, it's always a pleasure
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: to check in with Mike Leonard out of Bernard Daniels.
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: There are 250 railroad streets in Canfield, folks. It's one
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: of those places where you just have to go because
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: you never know what bargains that they get in. And
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: can I tell you something? If you're looking for lumber, 2x4, 2x6, plywood,
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: anything you want, they store it the right way in
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: pole barns. They load it for you. You don't have
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: to sort through a pile looking for a straight one.
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: Let's start with what you're known for. Great lumber, right, Mike?
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: Great lumber. We store it properly.
- 1:05:07Speaker 29: We order good material. If you're in a project, need
- 1:05:11Speaker 29: good stuff, you've got to stop and check it out.
- 1:05:13Speaker 29: And that's the key thing, Ron. You've got to visit
- 1:05:15Speaker 29: us here. You've got to come in, walk around. Inventory's
- 1:05:18Speaker 29: always changing. We have everything you need.
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: Absolutely. Whether that's composite decking, whether that's Anderson windows, whether
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: that's Silver Creek cabinets, from top to bottom, where are
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: you located and what's your phone number?
- 1:05:30Speaker 29: We're at 250 Railroad Street in Canfield. Phone number 330-533-2211.
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: Bernard Daniels, right there on Railroad Street in Canfield. Power
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: isn't a luxury. It's a CN. So the Guru to Gerard.
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: So I've been reflecting on that today because I read about,
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: as I said, Bob Bush's passing. And I'm saddened by it.
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: You follow me? Because it's like, to quote Paul Anka,
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: the times of your life. And then it was probably
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: a week ago, and it really kind of set me
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: back and– It really set me back, and I just
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: reflected for a bit. For the longest period of time
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: that I've been in Youngstown, I knew Nick Levinsky. He
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: was on the Boardman Police Department for a long time,
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: and he was a sergeant on the Boardman Police Department.
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: Got to know him over the years when I was
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: much younger and he was much younger, as a matter
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: of fact. And he would sometimes be on duty and
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: stop by when we'd be doing remotes on location and
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: that kind of stuff. And I remember seeing Nick come in,
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: and he worked for the Board of the Police Department,
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: and he would have on his uniform. And it would
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: be wintertime, and he had on the police, you know,
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: the leather jackets that they would wear and looking sharp
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: and that kind of stuff. And I always thought he
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: was just a really good guy and really enjoyed life.
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: his friendship and talking to him over the years. And
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: he was a hell of a woodmaker. I would see
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: him at the Shaker Woods Festival with my wife from
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: time to time. But I saw that he had passed
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: away and he was like, I think 71. He had
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: pancreatic cancer. And that really saddened me. I was really
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: saddened that Nick Levinsky passed away just from my over
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: the years running into him and knowing him and talking
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: to him as I was with Bob Bush. And I
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: was saddened by the passing of both of those gentlemen.
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: It's like Paul Anka said, it's like the times of
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: your life right in front of your eyes. These people
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: that you've had good friendships with who seem to vanish
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: before they really... And time is precious, let's put it
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: that way.
- 1:07:42Speaker 13: Yeah, it is.
- 1:07:43Speaker 12: You know, you asked me that, but all I've done
- 1:07:47Speaker 12: is realize it more because, you know, your life kind
- 1:07:50Speaker 12: of flashes in front of your eyes sometimes. When you're
- 1:07:52Speaker 12: going through something like that, because it doesn't have to be.
- 1:07:55Speaker 12: And then if you wake up and you say, okay,
- 1:07:57Speaker 12: I got more days, what can we do with them?
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: What can we do? Well, enjoy them and relax. This idea..
- 1:08:04Speaker 12: What if I enjoy the work I'm doing?
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: Well, that's okay. Then if you do, I'm all for it.
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: But this idea that you've got to change the world? No,
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: you should enjoy your time while you have it. It's
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: very limited.
- 1:08:20Speaker 26: Well, I am.
- 1:08:21Speaker 12: That's why I'm doing all these projects that I don't
- 1:08:23Speaker 12: really need to do, but I want to do.
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: So you're enjoying painting that barn? You're enjoying... fixing those
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: yes those okay well that's that's good you get a
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: sense of accomplishment out of it i would agree with
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: you i would i get it you don't have to
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: explain it to me i totally get it but i
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: mean you know you you definitely would get that firsthand
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: because obviously you had a brush with death and uh
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: so it should change you uh but as you get
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: older and you look around and that that it was
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: it was those three there was one there was a
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: third one there was a girl that passed away in
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: my high school class that was posted. And I thought, boy,
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: that's sad because I remember her and I was sad
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: by her passing as well. Oh, well, let's let's move along.
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: You're depressing me.
- 1:09:13Speaker 12: Hey, you started this.
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: You're depressing me.
- 1:09:18Speaker 12: I was positive. I wanted to change the world and
- 1:09:21Speaker 12: all that. You're talking about death.
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. You'll change the world. All right, Michael. Appreciate it.
- 1:09:27Speaker 12: I see you. Have a good weekend.
- 1:09:28Speaker 3: You too.
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: You're in here. Hello.
- 1:09:35Speaker 3: Hello, Rob. Yes. Just two quick points. When previous callers
- 1:09:42Speaker 3: said that Interest was now the largest expense. Well, I
- 1:09:47Speaker 3: just Googled it. It's nowhere near the largest expense. Social
- 1:09:51Speaker 3: Security is still number one by far, and interest is
- 1:09:57Speaker 3: number two, but not even close.
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: Yeah, but I believe I was reading a news story.
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: Was it yesterday or something? If it's not there, it's
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: very close to. I thought I read the same news
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: story somewhere where it is the largest expense. But if not,
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: it is. It has been the second largest expense, which
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: is ridiculous. I don't care if it's one or two.
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: That's insanity to spend that much money on just servicing
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: the debt, paying the interest, wasted tax dollars.
- 1:10:26Speaker 3: Oh, I agree. But it's. a half a trillion dollars
- 1:10:30Speaker 3: away from being the largest expense. Now, what it is,
- 1:10:33Speaker 3: is the fastest-growing expense.
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: Yeah, that's probably true. And as interest rates go up,
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: and as a... Stand by for me. Stand by for
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: a minute. I want to talk to him some more.
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: We'll get back to him and take more of your calls.
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: Ron Verb from the Kingdom of Mahoning on a Friday.
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: NewsRadio 570 WKBN. News Radio 570 WKVN. Vice President J.D.
- 1:10:58Speaker 6: Vance-Returner is hometown of Middletown Friday to celebrate a $ 1
- 1:11:01Speaker 6: million investment in Cleveland Cliffs Middletown Works Steel Plant. The
- 1:11:05Speaker 6: project includes $ 500 million in support from the U.S. Department
- 1:11:07Speaker 6: of Energy... and he's suspected to employ more than 1,500
- 1:11:10Speaker 6: workers during peak construction. Vance highlighted his grandfather's 40 years
- 1:11:14Speaker 6: as a welder at the plant, saying it was a
- 1:11:16Speaker 6: great day for Middletown in southwest Ohio. He also praised
- 1:11:19Speaker 6: the Trump administration's efforts to bring manufacturing jobs back to
- 1:11:22Speaker 6: the U.S. while attacking Democratic policies and urging support for
- 1:11:27Speaker 6: Ohio Republican candidates this coming November. And in the meantime,
- 1:11:30Speaker 6: a Wooden County man is facing charges for allegedly assaulting
- 1:11:33Speaker 6: a woman. David Kinsley of Perrysburg is accused of attacking
- 1:11:36Speaker 6: a woman in late June, pushing her to the ground,
- 1:11:39Speaker 6: throwing her head first through a wall, and holding a
- 1:11:41Speaker 6: knife to her head. The victim suffered major injuries, including
- 1:11:44Speaker 6: a fractured vertebrae. I'm Brady Hopkins.
- 1:11:47Speaker 10: Listen on the free iHeartRadio app for all your music, news, talk,
- 1:11:51Speaker 10: and sports radio.
- 1:11:52Speaker 13: Podcasts, too.
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: Download the app. Free never sounded so good. Now, Ron
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: Verb on NewsRadio 570 WKBN. And back to a NewsRadio 570.
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: It is sad, though, whether it's second or first, how
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: much money. I mean, when you sit back and reflect
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: on it, caller, that we're spending so much money today
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: that we're strapping future generations for, and we're just paying
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: this huge amount of our tax dollars just for the interest.
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: It's a crime. It really is.
- 1:12:29Speaker 3: Well, the huge difference between Social Security and interest payments,
- 1:12:33Speaker 3: you're getting something for Social Security. For the $ 1 trillion
- 1:12:37Speaker 3: you're spending in interest payments, you might as well burn
- 1:12:40Speaker 3: it in the middle of your house during the winter.
- 1:12:42Speaker 3: At least it'll throw off some heat. Right now, we're
- 1:12:44Speaker 3: getting nothing for it.
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: Yeah, it's like a wasted tax dollars. You don't get
- 1:12:51Speaker 1: a damn thing for it, and you're not lowering the...
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: The amount that you owe, you're just paying this huge
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: sum of money to service the debt. And what happens
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: if interest rates go up or even if they don't
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: go up as we continue to add to it at
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: an alarming rate?
- 1:13:07Speaker 3: Yeah, interest rates can remain the same. We keep adding
- 1:13:10Speaker 3: to the debt, so therefore it will keep going up
- 1:13:13Speaker 3: because we borrow the money we spend now.
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: And I don't see a serious effort by Republicans or
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: Democrats over the years, and I do mean years, to
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: ever do a damn thing about it. And I'm not
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: optimistic that they will. I believe the crap is getting
- 1:13:28Speaker 1: closer every day to hitting the fan, and they'll get
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: their pensions, and the people that put us in this
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: position won't be affected by it. But I can assure
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: you everybody else will. I don't care whether you're in
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: the market or on Social Security or on welfare.
- 1:13:45Speaker 3: Well, the reality is I know you have children, I
- 1:13:48Speaker 3: have children, and granted that, he's going to pay the price.
- 1:13:52Speaker 3: I mean, I'm 72, so do I believe I will suffer?
- 1:13:57Speaker 3: Probably not. Do I believe my children will? Absolutely. At
- 1:14:00Speaker 3: some point. They're in their 30s or 40s.
- 1:14:04Speaker 1: Right.
- 1:14:07Speaker 3: And I just have one more comment. I was listening
- 1:14:09Speaker 3: to your, I'll call it a debate the other day
- 1:14:12Speaker 3: with G2.
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: Yes, my debate.
- 1:14:15Speaker 3: It sounded fascinating because, I don't want to sound nerdish,
- 1:14:22Speaker 3: but G2 is talking macro. He's talking big numbers, you know,
- 1:14:28Speaker 3: and his numbers are correct. The numbers he was discussing.
- 1:14:32Speaker 3: You know, the rate of increase is dramatically down as
- 1:14:37Speaker 3: compared to the Biden era. You're talking micro. You're talking
- 1:14:41Speaker 3: that person who goes to Giant Eagle and goes to
- 1:14:45Speaker 3: Meijer and is paying so much more for a loaf
- 1:14:48Speaker 3: of bread or a pound of meat. You know, and
- 1:14:50Speaker 3: that person's not saying, well, that darn Joe Biden.
- 1:14:54Speaker 12: Right.
- 1:14:54Speaker 3: He's saying that darn Donald Trump, because that's who's in office.
- 1:14:58Speaker 12: Right.
- 1:14:59Speaker 3: So you guys, you know, I don't want to sound nerdish,
- 1:15:02Speaker 3: but it reminds me of the parable. We have six
- 1:15:03Speaker 3: guys feeling an elephant, and one touches the trunk and says, wow,
- 1:15:08Speaker 3: that's a hose. Another one touches the body and says,
- 1:15:11Speaker 3: that's a wall. Another one touches the tail and says,
- 1:15:13Speaker 3: that's a rope. One touches the leg and says it's
- 1:15:17Speaker 3: a tree. You're both talking about the same thing, but
- 1:15:20Speaker 3: you're never going to agree that it's an elephant. Right.
- 1:15:25Speaker 3: So you and G2 are arguing. I don't want to
- 1:15:27Speaker 3: say arguing. Debating. And neither one was going to change
- 1:15:31Speaker 3: your point because, to some degree, both of you were right.
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: It is the reality of today that the thing on
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: just about everybody's mind is the gas price. Gas and groceries,
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: you cannot negate inflation. Obviously, inflation, the big chunk of
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: it started under, well, frankly, it started under COVID. As
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: I would always say to people, you know, how stupid
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: was this? COVID was there. Everything was shut down. And
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: we give people all this money. So we create a
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: demand when things aren't being produced, which creates inflation. And
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: we keep pumping out all these dollars that the government makes,
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: which lessens the value of existing dollars, supply and demand.
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: So government creates this inflation that's going on during COVID.
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: And then Biden adds to it tremendously. Then Trump. seemed
- 1:16:24Speaker 1: to be going on the right path before this war situation,
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: because gas was about $ 2. 50, and we were drill, baby, drill,
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: and the goal to bring prices down, because we're an
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: energy-driven economy, and it seemed to be going in that direction. Literally,
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: in a blink of an eye, it's reversed and created
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: a worldwide problem, not just on oil, but on chemicals
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: as well, and with no end in sight. And I'm deeply,
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: I mean, I'm genuinely deeply concerned with the economics of
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: our country and even to a certain extent, the globe.
- 1:16:59Speaker 3: Well, I'm probably like most people who, when I watch TV,
- 1:17:03Speaker 3: I'm starting to see the commercials and they talk about affordability,
- 1:17:08Speaker 3: but maybe I've missed it. Have you seen any politician
- 1:17:12Speaker 3: anywhere who's come up with a solution other than say
- 1:17:16Speaker 3: affordability is an issue?
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: The only politicians that I would put forward who come
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: up with a solution, I would say two come to
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: my mind, Ron DeSantis and Dave Thomas, the state rep
- 1:17:33Speaker 1: that I have on, because they say as politicians, from
- 1:17:37Speaker 1: their aspect, what we can do is try to become
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: like DeSantis. Every year they're spending less money than the
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: year before, not adjusted for inflation. That is making it
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: so people can keep more of their money and they're
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: trying to do away with property taxes or significantly reduce them.
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: As DeSantis says, that's what we can do in government
- 1:17:59Speaker 1: to make your life better, easier, and that's what we
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: can do. And I think that's what Dave Thomas is
- 1:18:04Speaker 1: doing locally. But from a federal level– No. From a
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: federal level, I was optimistic about Trump. I mean, I
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: do think Trump made some differences in many ways. Unfortunately,
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: they're only for three years. Like, for example, no tax
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: on tips, no tax on overtime, and by upping the
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: deduction on Social Security. All of those things help you
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: keep more of your money in the tax breaks. So
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: I would throw him into that mix, but he's gotten
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: off course.
- 1:18:38Speaker 3: Yeah, I was thinking more in terms of, do you
- 1:18:41Speaker 3: know what the Democratic platform is for affordability or the
- 1:18:44Speaker 3: Republican platform for affordability?
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: I know the Democrat one. It's social. apparently. We take
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: it from you and give it to the guy over here.
- 1:18:55Speaker 3: And the Republicans, what's their plan? Because I haven't seen it.
- 1:19:01Speaker 3: I'm a Trump supporter. You know, I think he's made
- 1:19:04Speaker 3: some mistakes. You know, the war, I think, is a
- 1:19:07Speaker 3: horrible mistake. But I'm like you. I'm waiting for somebody
- 1:19:13Speaker 3: to give me a solution, not to sit there identifying
- 1:19:16Speaker 3: the problem. Yep, affordability is a real issue. Well, what
- 1:19:19Speaker 3: are you going to do about it? Well, affordability is
- 1:19:22Speaker 3: a real issue. And then they go on to the
- 1:19:24Speaker 3: next thing.
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: Hey, did you know this, Colin? Affordability is a real issue, though.
- 1:19:30Speaker 5: You're kidding.
- 1:19:31Speaker 3: I didn't know that.
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: Well, now has it... What did you say? You're 71
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: years old, did you say?
- 1:19:38Speaker 3: 72.
- 1:19:38Speaker 7: 72. 72.
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: Are you doing okay? I mean, you're on a fixed income,
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: I would assume.
- 1:19:47Speaker 3: Well, I was very fortunate. I'm somewhat similar to your
- 1:19:52Speaker 3: first caller.
- 1:19:54Speaker 16: Oh, yeah.
- 1:19:55Speaker 3: Several years ago, I invested in three stocks. Apple, because
- 1:20:01Speaker 3: I have an iPhone, and I have an iPad.
- 1:20:03Speaker 7: Okay.
- 1:20:05Speaker 3: Google because I use it, and Amazon because I use it.
- 1:20:09Speaker 3: Those are the only three stocks I bought.
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: And this is way back in the day or early on.
- 1:20:14Speaker 3: This is back in the day, and I don't sell.
- 1:20:17Speaker 3: I don't trade. Well, I do trade. I have a
- 1:20:19Speaker 3: margin account. I assume you're familiar with that.
- 1:20:22Speaker 1: Yes.
- 1:20:23Speaker 18: Yeah.
- 1:20:23Speaker 3: So whenever I would get way ahead of my margin account,
- 1:20:26Speaker 3: I would just keep buying more of those three stocks.
- 1:20:29Speaker 3: And that's all I own. I don't trade. I don't
- 1:20:32Speaker 3: watch the market. And let's just say I've.
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: Done very well. Do you take money out of it, though,
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: to supplement your Social Security and your retirement, I would assume?
- 1:20:46Speaker 3: Because of the dividends and some of the other things
- 1:20:49Speaker 3: I get on those, whenever I have a major expense,
- 1:20:52Speaker 3: I will take it out of that margin account. But otherwise,
- 1:20:55Speaker 3: I leave it alone. And the reality is, Ron, I'm
- 1:20:58Speaker 3: sort of like you. I live in Youngstown, Ohio. I
- 1:21:02Speaker 3: could probably live anywhere I want.
- 1:21:04Speaker 13: Right.
- 1:21:05Speaker 3: But I have a I have a wonderful life here.
- 1:21:08Speaker 3: I think I don't have, you know, 12 big cars or,
- 1:21:13Speaker 3: you know, we live in a lovely area of Boardman.
- 1:21:15Speaker 3: You know, I look at some of the homes on Kensington,
- 1:21:18Speaker 3: for example, you know, the McMansions. Yes. And probably probably
- 1:21:23Speaker 3: I could afford one.
- 1:21:24Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 1:21:24Speaker 3: Why would I?
- 1:21:24Speaker 15: Right.
- 1:21:25Speaker 3: I like where I like my neighbors. I like the
- 1:21:28Speaker 3: car I drive. I like the neighborhood. Why would I move?
- 1:21:31Speaker 3: I mean, how much can you spend? I mean, when
- 1:21:34Speaker 3: we vacation, we vacation very well. But other than that,
- 1:21:41Speaker 3: it's much harder to be extravagant in Boardman, Ohio, than
- 1:21:44Speaker 3: it probably is in Beverly Hills, California.
- 1:21:47Speaker 1: You know what you've discovered? How to be happy in life.
- 1:21:53Speaker 1: I mean, in all seriousness, how to be content and happy.
- 1:21:57Speaker 1: The people who think happiness is, oh, I got to
- 1:21:59Speaker 1: have this particular car or I got to have this
- 1:22:01Speaker 1: particular house or whatever. And I think what you've described,
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: I'm sitting here listening to you and I'm enjoying everything
- 1:22:09Speaker 1: that you said about it. You know, I mean, I sit,
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: I enjoy my neighborhood. I enjoy the home I live in.
- 1:22:20Speaker 1: This community, obviously we've got some issues that we have
- 1:22:24Speaker 1: to deal with, but this community, it's really a nice
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: place to live. Traffic-wise, expense-wise, even weather-wise, it's not horrible.
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: I mean, spring, fall, and summer. I mean, you know,
- 1:22:40Speaker 1: those few winter months. And you can always go to
- 1:22:42Speaker 1: Florida if you want to do something like that. I mean,
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: I'm listening to you talking, man. You make a lot
- 1:22:47Speaker 1: of sense to me.
- 1:22:49Speaker 3: Well, Ron, to show you our level of contentment, my
- 1:22:53Speaker 3: wife and I were talking. Do you remember when it
- 1:22:54Speaker 3: was Lotto or Powerball? One of them went up to
- 1:22:57Speaker 3: a billion dollars.
- 1:22:58Speaker 1: Right.
- 1:23:00Speaker 3: And my wife and I were talking, and we said,
- 1:23:02Speaker 3: how significantly would our lifestyle change at this point if
- 1:23:05Speaker 3: we were to win that? And we're trying to think
- 1:23:08Speaker 3: of what we would do. Now, our kids' lifestyle would
- 1:23:12Speaker 3: change dramatically. But as far as our lifestyle, well, Ron,
- 1:23:17Speaker 3: you're probably better off financially than you were 10 years ago.
- 1:23:20Speaker 3: Has your lifestyle changed dramatically over those 10 years?
- 1:23:23Speaker 1: No.
- 1:23:25Speaker 3: No.
- 1:23:26Speaker 1: I don't. I'm like you. I don't really get. Listen,
- 1:23:31Speaker 1: I want reliable. I don't want a rust bucket. I
- 1:23:35Speaker 1: want reliable transportation. I never longed for a Mercedes Benz
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: or BMW. I could care less about it. I mean,
- 1:23:41Speaker 1: I get in it, I drive it here and get
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: out of it. I drive home. It's transportation to me.
- 1:23:46Speaker 1: I never got caught up in the, in the, in
- 1:23:49Speaker 1: the nameplates like some people do. And, uh, I have
- 1:23:53Speaker 1: a 2,400 square foot house. That's how much, how much
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: bigger do you need? I mean, it's, it's been a
- 1:23:59Speaker 1: wonderful home in a great neighborhood.
- 1:24:02Speaker 3: And, uh, Now, if somebody offered you a 3,500-square-foot home,
- 1:24:07Speaker 3: I don't want to pick on Kensington. Let's say Firestone.
- 1:24:12Speaker 3: Would you move?
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: No, I would not.
- 1:24:15Speaker 3: Neither would I.
- 1:24:17Speaker 1: Neither would I. I would absolutely not move at all.
- 1:24:23Speaker 1: I wouldn't want the headaches of that. I wouldn't want
- 1:24:26Speaker 1: the expense involved in that kind of stuff at all.
- 1:24:31Speaker 3: You're like me. You've reached a point of contentment in
- 1:24:34Speaker 3: your life. And, you know, we listen to you more
- 1:24:38Speaker 3: than most, you know, listen to a lot of issues,
- 1:24:42Speaker 3: you know, which can at some point, I'm surprised, doesn't
- 1:24:44Speaker 3: make you absolutely crazy. I don't know what when you
- 1:24:49Speaker 3: go to bed, how you clear your mind is absolutely
- 1:24:52Speaker 3: beyond me. Listening to all you hear in a given day. But,
- 1:24:58Speaker 3: you know, you and I are at an age where
- 1:24:59Speaker 3: we're content with our lives, and there's nothing wrong with that.
- 1:25:02Speaker 3: You know, money isn't going to buy you much more
- 1:25:04Speaker 3: contentment at a certain point in your life.
- 1:25:06Speaker 1: It's not going to buy you more time, and it's
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: not going to buy you– it's just not– you and
- 1:25:11Speaker 1: I probably worry about two of the most important things,
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: staying healthy and staying alive. Would you not agree?
- 1:25:17Speaker 3: Staying healthy, staying alive, and our kids and wives.
- 1:25:21Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. Yeah, hoping that your kids have– good health
- 1:25:27Speaker 1: and a good life as well as you watch them
- 1:25:31Speaker 1: grow up. It's hard to imagine as you get closer
- 1:25:34Speaker 1: to the end, the thing that you probably will miss
- 1:25:36Speaker 1: most is being able to watch them grow. Uh-huh.
- 1:25:40Speaker 3: And it's so easy to do in Youngstown, Ohio. You know, Boardman, Canfield,
- 1:25:45Speaker 3: Boston Town. It's just, it's an easy place to live
- 1:25:49Speaker 3: from the perspective of traffic and just all the things
- 1:25:52Speaker 3: that you see in major cities. I mean, I'm sure
- 1:25:55Speaker 3: you drive other places. And when you go to Florida,
- 1:25:58Speaker 3: Florida is lunacy. I-4? There's never a good time.
- 1:26:03Speaker 1: To go on I-4. Boy, are you a spot on.
- 1:26:08Speaker 1: It is damn right. It's frightening. I mean, make no mistake.
- 1:26:11Speaker 1: I love Kissimmee and where my daughter is. And we
- 1:26:15Speaker 1: go there quite often. And it's very enjoyable and relaxing.
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: I love every minute of it. My brothers are both
- 1:26:21Speaker 1: in Florida. And I enjoy it tremendously. But I'm going
- 1:26:25Speaker 1: to tell you, the I-4 is enough to make me
- 1:26:29Speaker 1: wet myself.
- 1:26:32Speaker 3: And it's like that all the time. It's not 5
- 1:26:35Speaker 3: o'clock at night. It's 10 o'clock at night, 9 o'clock
- 1:26:37Speaker 3: in the morning. It doesn't matter. You're on I-4. It's
- 1:26:40Speaker 3: a disaster. And people do that every day.
- 1:26:44Speaker 1: Well, my daughter, you can see your life in front
- 1:26:46Speaker 1: of your very eyes when you get on there.
- 1:26:49Speaker 3: She travels I-4 every day.
- 1:26:50Speaker 1: Yeah, she goes from Kissimmee to Orlando and back. Well,
- 1:26:58Speaker 1: a few days. Some days she can work from home.
- 1:27:00Speaker 1: But it is a nightmare. Nightmare trip. But there's an
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: excitement about Florida when you go down there, though, if
- 1:27:06Speaker 1: you ever go down for the winter or whatever. My
- 1:27:10Speaker 1: brothers say the sunshine in the wintertime makes you live longer.
- 1:27:13Speaker 1: You get out, you walk, you enjoy. Something about the
- 1:27:16Speaker 1: sunshine is.
- 1:27:17Speaker 3: A good thing.
- 1:27:19Speaker 7: We do.
- 1:27:19Speaker 3: We go down for four months. People go, well, four months,
- 1:27:24Speaker 3: it's cold here for four months, and it's warm there.
- 1:27:28Speaker 3: You're going to spend four months somewhere where it's uncomfortable.
- 1:27:31Speaker 3: I would not want to be in Florida August, January, well, July, August, September,
- 1:27:37Speaker 3: and even May. You know, there's four months there where
- 1:27:41Speaker 3: it's unbearable. There's four months here where it's ridiculous. So
- 1:27:44Speaker 3: just trade your four months. We go down to Naples
- 1:27:52Speaker 3: for four months. We have a condo down there.
- 1:27:55Speaker 1: They call that Little Youngstown, don't they, Naples? Yes, they do.
- 1:27:59Speaker 3: You're going to run into somebody you know if you
- 1:28:02Speaker 3: go to Naples. For four months, I'd rather be there
- 1:28:06Speaker 3: than four months. Trust me, Ron, you've gone down there
- 1:28:09Speaker 3: in the summer. You know what it's like in Florida
- 1:28:12Speaker 3: during the summer.
- 1:28:14Speaker 1: You've got to come over to Osceola County.
- 1:28:16Speaker 3: Yes.
- 1:28:18Speaker 1: You've got to stray out of Naples and come down
- 1:28:20Speaker 1: to Kissimmee, and we'll have lunch.
- 1:28:23Speaker 9: I have.
- 1:28:24Speaker 3: That's why the I-4 comment. We have gone in that area. Well,
- 1:28:30Speaker 3: it's a pleasure talking to you.
- 1:28:32Speaker 1: I enjoyed your insight. Your insight is refreshing, and I'm
- 1:28:37Speaker 1: in tune with everything you say. hit home with me.
- 1:28:42Speaker 1: And you know what? You have discovered, in my opinion,
- 1:28:45Speaker 1: a secret to life. And I thank you for sharing it.
- 1:28:48Speaker 1: And I enjoyed every word you had to say. And
- 1:28:50Speaker 1: I appreciate it.
- 1:28:51Speaker 3: Well, thank you. It appears you're there, too. And that's
- 1:28:53Speaker 3: what's wonderful.
- 1:28:55Speaker 1: You got it. Thank you, my friend. What an absolute
- 1:28:58Speaker 1: great caller. I mean, what a terrific caller as I
- 1:29:02Speaker 1: listen to him talk. And, you know, like I say,
- 1:29:09Speaker 1: you reflect on it. I'm reflected on it because of,
- 1:29:11Speaker 1: like I say, the passing of Bob Bush, who was
- 1:29:15Speaker 1: the police chief in Youngstown, a lawyer, gunner on a
- 1:29:19Speaker 1: helicopter in Vietnam, and then Nick Levinsky. who's with the
- 1:29:23Speaker 1: Board of Police Department. I've known him for a long,
- 1:29:26Speaker 1: long time, and I was really saddened by his passing.
- 1:29:29Speaker 1: News Radio 570 WKBN and Ron Verbaugh.
- 1:29:33Speaker 11: I'll be right back.
- 1:29:36Speaker 1: I can't tell you how much I enjoyed that last
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: gentleman's conversation. It just kind of put you at ease.
- 1:29:45Speaker 1: You're on the air.
- 1:29:47Speaker 30: I'm glad he called before me. That was really nice.
- 1:29:50Speaker 1: I mean, when you listen to him talk, I'm telling you,
- 1:29:53Speaker 1: there was monumental words of wisdom that came out of
- 1:29:56Speaker 1: that man's mouth and everything he said I could relate to.
- 1:30:01Speaker 1: And he has, in my opinion, really discovered the true
- 1:30:04Speaker 1: meaning of life and happiness. He's content.
- 1:30:06Speaker 3: It is.
- 1:30:07Speaker 30: And once your bills are paid, usually happiness is very
- 1:30:11Speaker 30: marginal past that. That's part of why I wanted to
- 1:30:15Speaker 30: call in today, and he's right. You can only buy
- 1:30:17Speaker 30: so much, but you can never buy more time. That's
- 1:30:21Speaker 30: why you've got to use your money for time. Time
- 1:30:24Speaker 30: is money, and mostly what I wanted to call about today.
- 1:30:29Speaker 1: All right, so let me hear it. I'm paying attention.
- 1:30:33Speaker 30: Well, you know, we've been talking about these interest rates
- 1:30:35Speaker 30: and everything, and what happened the other day with the
- 1:30:39Speaker 30: Treasury Secretary saying that he's going to increase interest rates,
- 1:30:44Speaker 30: or not increase them, but increase the buybacks from $ 2
- 1:30:46Speaker 30: billion to $ 4 billion, which on a $ 4 trillion budget
- 1:30:49Speaker 30: and $ 40 trillion debt is really just a rounding error.
- 1:30:53Speaker 30: So what happened with the market and the bonds? You know,
- 1:30:55Speaker 30: I heard the options guy call first thing today, and
- 1:30:59Speaker 30: he didn't really understand it, and Frank was kind of
- 1:31:01Speaker 30: talking about it, but It didn't really change anything because
- 1:31:05Speaker 30: the interest rates came down and then went right back
- 1:31:08Speaker 30: up the next day even higher than when he initiated
- 1:31:10Speaker 30: this buyback. So the signaling was the biggest thing. We
- 1:31:15Speaker 30: must have gotten to the point where it's actually a problem.
- 1:31:18Speaker 30: So I've always said, I don't know when the poo-poo
- 1:31:20Speaker 30: hits the fan, but there's this rate, and I think
- 1:31:23Speaker 30: we're at it right now, where things start to go
- 1:31:25Speaker 30: in the wrong direction if they let rates keep going higher.
- 1:31:28Speaker 30: And Rates are, you know, we always talk about the
- 1:31:31Speaker 30: Fed and the Fed, you know, lowering or increasing interest rates. Well,
- 1:31:34Speaker 30: that's just the overnight rate. It's the market that determines,
- 1:31:38Speaker 30: you know, 10-year, 20-year, and 30-year bonds. So if the
- 1:31:42Speaker 30: price of the bond keeps going down because people don't
- 1:31:45Speaker 30: want to buy it, that means the interest rate has
- 1:31:47Speaker 30: to go up. So if you have a $ 100 bond
- 1:31:50Speaker 30: and you get a 5% interest rate on it, well,
- 1:31:53Speaker 30: if nobody wants it and you can only sell it
- 1:31:55Speaker 30: for $ 90... Nobody's going to buy it for that unless
- 1:31:58Speaker 30: the interest rate on it is higher. So it's not
- 1:32:00Speaker 30: that the rates keep going up. It's just nobody wants
- 1:32:02Speaker 30: to keep buying our bonds. Is it because they know
- 1:32:05Speaker 30: Japan's going to be selling a huge tranche of them
- 1:32:08Speaker 30: because they're wrecked?
- 1:32:09Speaker 13: I don't know.
- 1:32:10Speaker 30: Is it because we keep printing money into oblivion and
- 1:32:12Speaker 30: nobody thinks they're going to be able to get the
- 1:32:14Speaker 30: same nominal rate of return 30 years from now for
- 1:32:17Speaker 30: a 30-year treasury? So I think this is finally the
- 1:32:21Speaker 30: point where things have..
- 1:32:23Speaker 1: Stand by. Hang on. Back with Alec in a minute.

- 1:33:47Speaker 31: Go ahead and build it.
- 1:33:48Speaker 22: I'm Carmen Roberts, Fox News. Chief Justice John Roberts ruled
- 1:33:54Speaker 22: today that the Trump administration can keep building the $ 400
- 1:33:58Speaker 22: million White House ballroom, at least for now. He signed
- 1:34:01Speaker 22: a temporary order today to allow the work, as the
- 1:34:04Speaker 22: high court considers the Trump administration's appeal, of a lower
- 1:34:07Speaker 22: court ruling halting the project. As President Trump prepares to
- 1:34:11Speaker 22: unleash what he calls an economic D-Day on Iran, Tehran
- 1:34:15Speaker 22: is vowing a devastating response.
- 1:34:17Speaker 31: Iran's leaders haven't detailed what those responses to sanctions would be,
- 1:34:21Speaker 31: but the parliament chief, one of the country's top negotiators,
- 1:34:24Speaker 31: is reportedly admitting Iran is no match for the U.S.
- 1:34:27Speaker 1: Military.
- 1:34:30Speaker 22: Fox says Evan Brown reporting. Meantime, Vice President J.D. Vance
- 1:34:33Speaker 22: took the administration's economic campaign message today to his hometown
- 1:34:37Speaker 22: of Middletown, Ohio, and spoke to a crowd at the
- 1:34:40Speaker 22: steel plant where his grandfather once worked.
- 1:34:42Speaker 27: I'm not saying it's going to be easy or it's
- 1:34:44Speaker 27: all going to happen overnight, but in just 18 months,
- 1:34:47Speaker 27: we have seen an explosion of rebuilding in the American heartland.
- 1:34:51Speaker 27: We have seen trillions, with a T, trillions of new
- 1:34:55Speaker 27: dollars of investment pour into the United States of America.
- 1:34:59Speaker 22: Vance highlighted the Cleveland Cliffs is moving ahead with a
- 1:35:02Speaker 22: $ 1 billion modernization of Middletown Works steel plant. Environmental critics
- 1:35:07Speaker 22: have objected to the redirecting of $ 500 million in federal
- 1:35:10Speaker 22: funds from a Biden-era clean energy project to the steel mill.
- 1:35:16Speaker 22: The Pentagon fires its editor-in-chief of the Stars and Stripes
- 1:35:20Speaker 22: and the publisher and a reporter. Editor Eric Slavin says
- 1:35:24Speaker 22: he was dismissed for insubordination after saying that a censorship
- 1:35:27Speaker 22: is a red line. Firings come amid the Trump administration's
- 1:35:31Speaker 22: escalating pressure on news organizations and restrictions on Pentagon press access.
- 1:35:36Speaker 22: The Stars and Stripes is partially funded by the Pentagon

- 1:36:44Speaker 1: A to Z dependent. Now, Ron Verb on NewsRadio 570 WKVN.
- 1:36:51Speaker 1: Welcome 505 NewsRadio 570 WKVN and Ron Verb, 83 degrees
- 1:36:55Speaker 1: on this Friday, August 21st. We're always glad when the
- 1:36:59Speaker 1: weekend is here. All right, Alec, go ahead with your conversation.
- 1:37:04Speaker 30: Well, what I'm saying is if they're buying longer term
- 1:37:07Speaker 30: debt back, they got to do something. So they're issuing
- 1:37:10Speaker 30: shorter term debt. It's the Treasury doing it now, when
- 1:37:14Speaker 30: we always thought about quantitative easing or money printing, where
- 1:37:17Speaker 30: the Fed would.
- 1:37:17Speaker 17: Usually do it.
- 1:37:18Speaker 30: Now, Scott Besson, the Treasury Secretary, and the new Federal
- 1:37:22Speaker 30: Reserve Chairman were both picked by Donald Trump. So I'm
- 1:37:25Speaker 30: sure they're on the same page as each other, but
- 1:37:28Speaker 30: we haven't seen the Treasury do things like this in
- 1:37:30Speaker 30: quite some time. It's just, how are they going to
- 1:37:32Speaker 30: do anything with all this shorter-term debt? And I know
- 1:37:35Speaker 30: I've said this before, and people always ask, well, how
- 1:37:38Speaker 30: are they going to fix this, or what are they
- 1:37:39Speaker 30: going to do? One of the things that the Treasury
- 1:37:41Speaker 30: Secretary said when they were doing this change in the
- 1:37:43Speaker 30: buybacks is that they don't see the national debt going
- 1:37:47Speaker 30: any higher. Now, are those just talking points? What's he
- 1:37:51Speaker 30: going to say? I see it going to $ 50 trillion,
- 1:37:53Speaker 30: $ 60 trillion. But if they buy back all the long-term
- 1:37:57Speaker 30: debt and build new short-term debt, they're going to have
- 1:38:00Speaker 30: to sell that to somebody. And that's where these stable
- 1:38:03Speaker 30: coins are coming in. And I know you don't like
- 1:38:05Speaker 30: to hear about it, but I just want to be
- 1:38:06Speaker 30: on record that because I think this is going to
- 1:38:07Speaker 30: happen extremely quickly, too, where the short-term interest, you know,
- 1:38:12Speaker 30: our short-dated bonds are going to need to be sold
- 1:38:16Speaker 30: to somebody. And the only way they could sell them
- 1:38:18Speaker 30: are through the stable coins because they're backed one-to-one. Everybody
- 1:38:22Speaker 30: in the entire world is going to want to use
- 1:38:24Speaker 30: these stable coins because they're U.S. dollars, and that's how
- 1:38:27Speaker 30: they're going to fix the problem. I don't know how
- 1:38:29Speaker 30: long that going to be the fix for. But it's
- 1:38:31Speaker 30: going to happen quickly because stable coins are a law
- 1:38:35Speaker 30: passed last year, the Genius Act, September 15th at 2
- 1:38:39Speaker 30: o'clock is a big day because the Senate will vote
- 1:38:42Speaker 30: on the next bill, which is the Clarity Act. And
- 1:38:45Speaker 30: if that goes through, the stable coins are going to
- 1:38:47Speaker 30: just take off. And that's how they're going to fix
- 1:38:49Speaker 30: that debt problem.
- 1:38:51Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, if you really look at some of
- 1:38:56Speaker 1: the economic news, I mean, it is troubling, would you
- 1:39:00Speaker 1: not agree, when you take a look at the situation
- 1:39:02Speaker 1: in Japan and what you're talking with, with the buyback
- 1:39:05Speaker 1: and where was I with this stuff with Walmart?
- 1:39:09Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:39:10Speaker 30: And I mean, those are, you know, I'm, I'm zooming
- 1:39:13Speaker 30: way out, you know, from all that.
- 1:39:15Speaker 1: No, I know. I got what you're saying. You're looking
- 1:39:17Speaker 1: at the long game as they say.
- 1:39:19Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:39:19Speaker 30: And I mean, there's no solutions. There's only trade-offs for
- 1:39:22Speaker 30: all this moving forward, but it's just, it's interesting how
- 1:39:26Speaker 30: quickly a lot of these things are moving and changing
- 1:39:28Speaker 30: and and nobody really notices because, like you said, you know,
- 1:39:33Speaker 30: we live our lives, and what are you supposed to do?
- 1:39:35Speaker 30: But my generation is trying to be the one who
- 1:39:37Speaker 30: goes to Florida for four months in the winter, you know,
- 1:39:40Speaker 30: and it's getting harder and harder to do that. We
- 1:39:43Speaker 30: talked about that before, and I just don't know where
- 1:39:46Speaker 30: the solution is going to come from. I'm hoping that,
- 1:39:48Speaker 30: you know, something happens, something gets fixed, but I just
- 1:39:51Speaker 30: don't think it's going to happen without some kind of
- 1:39:53Speaker 30: calamity moving forward.
- 1:39:56Speaker 1: I would agree with you when you say calamity. As
- 1:39:59Speaker 1: I was reading here, Walmart is implementing temporary price cuts,
- 1:40:04Speaker 1: speedy e-commerce offerings, and expanded meal solutions to attract customers.
- 1:40:09Speaker 1: A Q2 comps growth. Let's see. Basically, business was down
- 1:40:17Speaker 1: is what they're saying. So it's the lowest growth. So,
- 1:40:20Speaker 1: I mean, when Walmart's got some issues, you know things
- 1:40:24Speaker 1: aren't going good for Joe Bagadones.
- 1:40:26Speaker 2: It's just not.
- 1:40:28Speaker 30: I mean, when you get right to it, Walmart's pretty
- 1:40:30Speaker 30: much a branch of the government. I mean, if they
- 1:40:32Speaker 30: didn't take, you know, government subsidies from SNAP benefits, you know,
- 1:40:36Speaker 30: basically welfare, if you couldn't go in there and use your,
- 1:40:38Speaker 30: you know, basically your food stamps, I mean, grocery there
- 1:40:42Speaker 30: would just plummet. I mean, most of the people buying
- 1:40:45Speaker 30: stuff on there... are not typically buying the essentials. Most
- 1:40:50Speaker 30: of the people going in there are buying Doritos, Mountain Dew,
- 1:40:54Speaker 30: all those things. So if you couldn't get government benefits
- 1:40:57Speaker 30: to buy those things, the Walmart sales would just plummet
- 1:41:02Speaker 30: if they didn't have that backing.
- 1:41:05Speaker 1: You know, my wife bought a bag of Doritos the
- 1:41:07Speaker 1: other day, and I forget which flavor it was, but God,
- 1:41:09Speaker 1: it's addictive. Don't be making fun of it. Have you
- 1:41:12Speaker 1: had the naked Doritos?
- 1:41:13Speaker 8: No.
- 1:41:13Speaker 26: No.
- 1:41:16Speaker 30: No, if you look at the ingredients, there's like three ingredients.
- 1:41:21Speaker 30: And it makes you think to yourself, why did they
- 1:41:22Speaker 30: make the other Doritos? It's because they're chemically designed so
- 1:41:26Speaker 30: that when you put it in your mouth, the flavor
- 1:41:27Speaker 30: goes away quickly, so you want to put another chip
- 1:41:30Speaker 30: in your mouth.
- 1:41:32Speaker 1: You are spot on on that. The ones she bought
- 1:41:36Speaker 1: were in a blue bag.
- 1:41:37Speaker 17: Yeah, you probably ate half the bag.
- 1:41:39Speaker 30: And when I mean half the bag, the entire bag,
- 1:41:42Speaker 30: because half of it is there.
- 1:41:43Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:41:44Speaker 1: Yeah. You start on those damn things. You are 100% right.
- 1:41:49Speaker 1: Let's say you grab a handful and put them on
- 1:41:51Speaker 1: your plate. And then when you're done with it, you
- 1:41:54Speaker 1: do want to grab more because you're right. The taste
- 1:41:57Speaker 1: is so good and it goes away so fast.
- 1:42:00Speaker 25: Yeah.
- 1:42:00Speaker 12: Damn.
- 1:42:01Speaker 17: That's been engineered.
- 1:42:02Speaker 30: That's American ingenuity right there. Now, Ron, going back to
- 1:42:06Speaker 30: these flock cameras, I actually found somebody who is in
- 1:42:10Speaker 30: agreement with you.
- 1:42:12Speaker 1: You really? I'm shocked.
- 1:42:13Speaker 15: Yes.
- 1:42:14Speaker 12: Did you see the video?
- 1:42:15Speaker 3: Yeah, Darth Vader.
- 1:42:16Speaker 30: The guy goes to the township meeting because everybody's there
- 1:42:22Speaker 30: saying that they don't want the flock cameras in their town.
- 1:42:24Speaker 30: And the guy goes up, and he's dressed as Darth
- 1:42:27Speaker 30: Vader and gives a great speech on why he wants
- 1:42:29Speaker 30: more flock cameras.
- 1:42:31Speaker 1: I'm all for him. I really am.
- 1:42:34Speaker 3: It's... Ron Vader.
- 1:42:37Speaker 1: I'm Ron Vader. And I tell you, my... Son of
- 1:42:43Speaker 1: a police officer says some of this stuff people are
- 1:42:47Speaker 1: saying is just so damn ridiculous, he says. I mean,
- 1:42:51Speaker 1: it is really a tool for law enforcement. And there
- 1:42:53Speaker 1: are a lot of bad people that are out there
- 1:42:55Speaker 1: that are on the run or committed serious crimes that
- 1:42:59Speaker 1: can be coming into your community and things. They don't
- 1:43:02Speaker 1: have time to deal with whether or not you're going
- 1:43:04Speaker 1: to Walmart or going to Five. They could care less
- 1:43:06Speaker 1: about that. I mean, it's ridiculous.
- 1:43:09Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:43:10Speaker 1: All right. So we shall see what happens with the economy.
- 1:43:16Speaker 1: I'm not optimistic at all right now. Do you know
- 1:43:23Speaker 1: in the last couple of days, do you know how
- 1:43:25Speaker 1: many people outside of this broadcast? That I've talked to
- 1:43:29Speaker 1: have said the same thing to me about filling up
- 1:43:33Speaker 1: their vehicle and how much it costs. You know, when
- 1:43:35Speaker 1: people want to act like, well, a gas prices, it's
- 1:43:37Speaker 1: not just gas prices. Well, it's not just gas prices,
- 1:43:40Speaker 1: but it is because I've heard from just in the
- 1:43:44Speaker 1: last three or four days, people call and say, Jesus,
- 1:43:47Speaker 1: I put this gas in. The car, and it was
- 1:43:50Speaker 1: $ 72 or $ 73. And just the sticker shock from that.
- 1:43:55Speaker 1: And then people are starting to say, you know, those
- 1:43:57Speaker 1: stickers where they put Biden on the pump. I did this. Now,
- 1:44:00Speaker 1: I guess they're starting to produce the Trump image with
- 1:44:04Speaker 1: I did that. You know what I mean? As far
- 1:44:06Speaker 1: as the gas prices go. But the Democrats.
- 1:44:09Speaker 30: Are smarter with their stickers. Have you ever seen a Trump,
- 1:44:11Speaker 30: I did this sticker? If you try to peel it off,
- 1:44:14Speaker 30: it peels away from Trump's picture and him saying, I
- 1:44:17Speaker 30: did this. There's a little perforation around it, so it's
- 1:44:19Speaker 30: harder to take off.
- 1:44:23Speaker 17: Yeah.
- 1:44:24Speaker 1: All right, Alec. You have a wonderful weekend. I appreciate you.
- 1:44:27Speaker 13: You got it.
- 1:44:28Speaker 4: All right.
- 1:44:30Speaker 1: Hello?
- 1:44:31Speaker 13: Good evening, Ron.
- 1:44:32Speaker 17: How are you?
- 1:44:33Speaker 3: Well..
- 1:44:35Speaker 1: I'm glad it's Friday. Let me put it that way. Boy,
- 1:44:40Speaker 1: all these people with our spirited debates. Oh, boy, am
- 1:44:44Speaker 1: I getting a lot of feedback on that. How about that?
- 1:44:47Speaker 5: Oh, good.
- 1:44:48Speaker 17: Well, good, because, I mean, it's great that people are
- 1:44:50Speaker 17: paying attention, and I think we've got to have these
- 1:44:52Speaker 17: debates because... On some of this stuff, you're just wrong.
- 1:44:57Speaker 1: But I think on some of this stuff, you know
- 1:44:59Speaker 1: what I think? On some of this stuff, you're wrong.
- 1:45:01Speaker 17: Wait a minute. That's not right.
- 1:45:04Speaker 1: I know. Because you're wrong. But, you know, folks, really,
- 1:45:08Speaker 1: that's what makes America spin to a large extent. But
- 1:45:13Speaker 1: these are major problems that need to be solved. And
- 1:45:17Speaker 1: I'm telling you, like I will say as we begin
- 1:45:20Speaker 1: our conversation, and I'll say it again, folks, I don't
- 1:45:22Speaker 1: see a quick way or an easy way out of
- 1:45:25Speaker 1: this situation in Iran. I mean, it wasn't that long
- 1:45:30Speaker 1: ago he's talking about bombing them, the smithereens, and we're
- 1:45:32Speaker 1: going to keep bombing them and all this stuff. Well,
- 1:45:34Speaker 1: now we've given up on that. We stopped that. Now
- 1:45:36Speaker 1: we're going to destroy them. Now we're on the economic
- 1:45:39Speaker 1: D-Day or whatever he said the other day, and it's like,
- 1:45:43Speaker 1: I've been through the– they won an agreement. We're close
- 1:45:46Speaker 1: to an agreement. Time after time after time after– we
- 1:45:49Speaker 1: got this ceasefire and they won an agreement. Now we
- 1:45:53Speaker 1: got another ceasefire. Now we're going to go back to
- 1:45:55Speaker 1: bombing them. We're going to bomb them forever. Now we're
- 1:45:57Speaker 1: on this economic thing. And I tell you, I think
- 1:46:00Speaker 1: the patience of the American people is wearing very thin
- 1:46:04Speaker 1: on this mess that he did create, that he created.
- 1:46:08Speaker 1: Let's give him the credit for doing it. Because he'll
- 1:46:11Speaker 1: take the credit if it turns around all of a sudden.
- 1:46:15Speaker 1: But he also gets the blame.
- 1:46:17Speaker 17: Well, it's interesting. I talked to somebody today who said
- 1:46:20Speaker 17: they're happy to pay more for gasoline if it means
- 1:46:23Speaker 17: that we end up permanently ending this.
- 1:46:27Speaker 1: I have not talked to many people that say that
- 1:46:29Speaker 1: at all. I'm just going to tell you right off
- 1:46:32Speaker 1: the bat.
- 1:46:32Speaker 17: This is the first one. I haven't had this with
- 1:46:34Speaker 17: more than one or two people since the beginning of
- 1:46:36Speaker 17: this war. But I was surprised this far in to
- 1:46:39Speaker 17: hear it. But the position is, you know, I'm happy
- 1:46:42Speaker 17: to pay because this threat was real. And, you know,
- 1:46:45Speaker 17: and it just it's there's a very small segment of
- 1:46:47Speaker 17: the population that believes that still. And and I don't
- 1:46:52Speaker 17: understand the reality of it, which is what we talked
- 1:46:55Speaker 17: about back in March.
- 1:46:56Speaker 1: I don't believe you believed it. I don't believe you
- 1:46:58Speaker 1: believe it to this day, because, you know, if I
- 1:47:01Speaker 1: remember my conversation when you're talking about Telsey and what
- 1:47:04Speaker 1: our own intelligence was saying at the time.
- 1:47:08Speaker 17: Right now, that This Russian, I'm sorry, I was going
- 1:47:12Speaker 17: back to the Ukraine thing. No, no, this is absolutely,
- 1:47:17Speaker 17: I do not believe a word of it. I don't
- 1:47:18Speaker 17: think we had a pressing nuclear threat. I think, as
- 1:47:22Speaker 17: we talked about extensively last year, a year ago, you know,
- 1:47:26Speaker 17: Iran's military and police capabilities are really predominantly faced internally.
- 1:47:30Speaker 17: When they had a chance to go after Israel, they
- 1:47:32Speaker 17: sent missiles, but they really didn't do that much damage. And,
- 1:47:37Speaker 17: you know, they just I don't believe they were a
- 1:47:38Speaker 17: real threat. I think this was a mistake to go
- 1:47:41Speaker 17: into this war. And, yeah, that hasn't changed. I haven't
- 1:47:43Speaker 17: shifted positions on that one bit.
- 1:47:46Speaker 1: What's the exit ramp, though, for for him? I mean,
- 1:47:50Speaker 1: I mean, he has kept changing everything from we're going
- 1:47:53Speaker 1: back to bombing. Now we're off to bombing. We're going
- 1:47:55Speaker 1: to this economic D-Day. And and of course, people are saying, well,
- 1:47:59Speaker 1: wait a minute, what's. What's the out here? This can
- 1:48:04Speaker 1: get a lot worse economically for not just the United
- 1:48:08Speaker 1: States and oil prices, but there's chemicals involved in this.
- 1:48:12Speaker 1: I got an email from a manufacturing guy that was
- 1:48:14Speaker 1: saying they weren't able to get something that they needed
- 1:48:16Speaker 1: in their business and the effect that this is going
- 1:48:19Speaker 1: to have. on business is productivity, not being able to
- 1:48:22Speaker 1: get some of these chemicals.
- 1:48:26Speaker 12: It's a real problem.
- 1:48:27Speaker 1: And it's getting worse, not better, is what this guy
- 1:48:29Speaker 1: is saying.
- 1:48:31Speaker 17: Here's the thing, though. A lot like going through the
- 1:48:34Speaker 17: negotiations on the tariffs. You know, when you're going, you're
- 1:48:37Speaker 17: taking the whole world through these negotiations. And Trump's the
- 1:48:40Speaker 17: most transparent guy ever. He does it on social media.
- 1:48:43Speaker 17: So we're all going down this, you know, incredible, you know,
- 1:48:48Speaker 17: thrust Perry, thrust Perry negotiation with this country. And we
- 1:48:53Speaker 17: talked about this extensively. This is not a homogenous country
- 1:48:56Speaker 17: where everybody is the same and believes the same. It
- 1:48:59Speaker 17: is a country with its own stresses. different groups, some
- 1:49:02Speaker 17: that would absolutely fight this thing to the last Iranian,
- 1:49:05Speaker 17: and others that would like to cut a deal. We
- 1:49:07Speaker 17: know all that. But the American people are accustomed to
- 1:49:10Speaker 17: getting packaged news that comes to them sanitized and false.
- 1:49:15Speaker 17: They're very accustomed to being lied to. And here it's
- 1:49:17Speaker 17: just being blasted out right through the process. So I
- 1:49:20Speaker 17: understand the frustration. And remember, the American people sat by
- 1:49:24Speaker 17: and watched 20 years of war, fought in the Middle
- 1:49:27Speaker 17: East on false pretenses, and didn't care a whip because
- 1:49:31Speaker 17: their gas price didn't go up. So the reality is
- 1:49:34Speaker 17: we have very little patience when, in fact, we're being
- 1:49:38Speaker 17: directly affected by these wars that we've been running through
- 1:49:40Speaker 17: your entire life. But, you know, post-World War II, Vietnam
- 1:49:44Speaker 17: was a bit of a.
- 1:49:45Speaker 3: Price, right?
- 1:49:46Speaker 17: People knew people who died in Vietnam. But since then,
- 1:49:48Speaker 17: we haven't known people who've died, and we aren't paying
- 1:49:50Speaker 17: a price for it. We just put it on a
- 1:49:51Speaker 17: credit card, say, hey, let the grandkids worry about it.
- 1:49:55Speaker 17: and we just keep going to the Outer Banks for vacation. So,
- 1:49:58Speaker 17: you know, this is one where the bill came right away,
- 1:50:01Speaker 17: so suddenly people are impatient and alarmed. Look, I'm not
- 1:50:05Speaker 17: happy with this gas price. I'm not happy that he
- 1:50:08Speaker 17: started this war, but we are now in it. And
- 1:50:11Speaker 17: this point you made earlier about the economic side, that's
- 1:50:15Speaker 17: not new. We have been going after them economically since
- 1:50:19Speaker 17: before the war started and more intensely during the war.
- 1:50:22Speaker 17: And with the blockade, as we talked about extensively, that
- 1:50:26Speaker 17: took that economic battle to a fever pitch. Because when
- 1:50:30Speaker 17: we took $ 400 million or $ 500 million a day.
- 1:50:32Speaker 3: Out of their system..
- 1:50:36Speaker 17: We put a tremendous amount of pressure on Iran, and
- 1:50:38Speaker 17: now they've got hyperinflation. They can't make payroll. I mean,
- 1:50:43Speaker 17: this thing is getting really rough inside. Now, you take
- 1:50:46Speaker 17: somebody like Besant, and if you listen to what he said,
- 1:50:49Speaker 17: that guy scares me. I mean, he is absolutely just clear,
- 1:50:56Speaker 17: and he's going to do what he says he's going
- 1:50:58Speaker 17: to do. He is absolutely going to throw every lever
- 1:51:01Speaker 17: he can throw, whether it be a direct economic... attack
- 1:51:05Speaker 17: on them or whether it be working to stop others
- 1:51:08Speaker 17: from helping them. He's going to throw every lever he
- 1:51:10Speaker 17: can throw to put even more economic pressure on Iran.
- 1:51:14Speaker 17: And we always think about this as if it's Afghanistan.
- 1:51:16Speaker 17: You know, a bunch of people living in caves, caves,
- 1:51:18Speaker 17: herding goats and old mud huts. That's not what this is.
- 1:51:21Speaker 17: This is a sophisticated police state and tyranny is expensive.
- 1:51:25Speaker 17: They need the money. They're not paying some of their police.
- 1:51:28Speaker 17: They're not paying government workers. I mean, they're in trouble.
- 1:51:31Speaker 17: And so we pretend that every time we bomb them,
- 1:51:35Speaker 17: they get stronger. Every time we stop a shipment of oil,
- 1:51:39Speaker 17: it makes them stronger. When we deny them economic success,
- 1:51:43Speaker 17: it makes them stronger. This is the craziest thing I've
- 1:51:45Speaker 17: ever seen American people get duped into, this every day
- 1:51:48Speaker 17: they get stronger idea.
- 1:51:49Speaker 3: It's ridiculous.
- 1:51:51Speaker 17: You know, if that's the case, they should want us
- 1:51:52Speaker 17: to bomb them 13,000 more times. Now, I think... that
- 1:51:57Speaker 17: what hasn't laid out is a smart strategy not to
- 1:52:00Speaker 17: begin the economic war but the ramp up the economic
- 1:52:03Speaker 17: war however I still think we should be doing everything
- 1:52:08Speaker 17: possible on the eastern side of the country, not the
- 1:52:11Speaker 17: Gulf side, but the other side, to make sure that
- 1:52:13Speaker 17: all those rail lines and roadways are shut down, because
- 1:52:16Speaker 17: it's not enough to support the economy, but they could
- 1:52:19Speaker 17: still ship in and out materials, including oil, on that
- 1:52:22Speaker 17: back side, on that eastern side, into those adjoining nations.
- 1:52:25Speaker 17: And nothing should be moving on the Caspian Sea, nothing
- 1:52:29Speaker 17: through that sort of northeast area. This should all be
- 1:52:34Speaker 17: locked down as hard as it can be. So I'm
- 1:52:36Speaker 17: not particularly happy that we are holding off on the
- 1:52:39Speaker 17: kinetic side again.
- 1:52:41Speaker 3: However..
- 1:52:42Speaker 17: They have this incredible arsenal, and this is one of
- 1:52:45Speaker 17: the most, this has been a fantastic execution by the
- 1:52:48Speaker 17: United States. You've got to, you know, putting in the blockade,
- 1:52:51Speaker 17: stopping all the shipments, bombing the 13,000 targets, taking complete
- 1:52:55Speaker 17: control of the airspace and water. It's a remarkable execution.
- 1:52:59Speaker 17: I don't understand why people keep saying it's not. It's
- 1:53:01Speaker 17: been incredible. and resisting the push of the neocons and
- 1:53:06Speaker 17: the Zionists to put troops on the ground, which is
- 1:53:09Speaker 17: a massive fight. To not deploy U.S. forces into that
- 1:53:13Speaker 17: country is a major stroke of, I don't know, excellent leadership.
- 1:53:17Speaker 17: The fact that Trump is standing up now and saying, listen,
- 1:53:19Speaker 17: you know, I started this thing for you, but I'm
- 1:53:21Speaker 17: not putting our boys in that country because we will
- 1:53:24Speaker 17: incur massive costs, massive losses, and our military is not
- 1:53:28Speaker 17: positioned well. to go into a ground war in Iran.
- 1:53:31Speaker 17: We are not there. It would take us a long
- 1:53:34Speaker 17: time to get there.
- 1:53:57Speaker 1: This tactic will be, I'm telling you, if this drags
- 1:54:02Speaker 1: on and drags on and drags on, nothing good is
- 1:54:05Speaker 1: going to come from it.
- 1:54:07Speaker 17: Well, no, they've got to solve it as fast as
- 1:54:09Speaker 17: they can. But, you know, as we often say, the
- 1:54:12Speaker 17: eggs are broken, now we need to make the omelet. And,
- 1:54:15Speaker 17: you know, there are just a few strategic options here, right?
- 1:54:17Speaker 17: One is to simply walk away. Well, that carries with
- 1:54:20Speaker 17: it a certain set of problems that we may not
- 1:54:22Speaker 17: want to face. So, you know, of course, other people
- 1:54:26Speaker 17: are saying, and I heard it today, we should put
- 1:54:29Speaker 17: an end to this, this is ridiculous, let's nuke them.
- 1:54:34Speaker 1: I would not support that at all, or that philosophy.
- 1:54:38Speaker 17: No, but I'm hearing people, this started with Mark Levin about,
- 1:54:41Speaker 17: I don't know, a couple months ago.
- 1:54:43Speaker 1: He's crazy.
- 1:54:44Speaker 17: I'm hearing people now, oh, he's out of his mind.
- 1:54:46Speaker 17: I'm hearing people saying, listen, we've got to bring this
- 1:54:48Speaker 17: to an end, and look what we did to win
- 1:54:50Speaker 17: in Japan. I'm like, whoa, wait a minute, we killed..
- 1:54:53Speaker 15: No.
- 1:54:54Speaker 17: And you and I had that conversation in March in
- 1:54:58Speaker 17: detail about Germany and Japan and the Bolsheviks raping all
- 1:55:00Speaker 17: those women and all the people we killed in Hamburg
- 1:55:03Speaker 17: and Tokyo and the bombs. This country is not in
- 1:55:07Speaker 17: any position to be doing that right now, and this
- 1:55:09Speaker 17: war does not warrant it. So that's off the table.
- 1:55:13Speaker 17: So I think from my perspective, we're sort of stuck
- 1:55:16Speaker 17: where we are, which is they've got to do exactly what.
- 1:55:19Speaker 12: Bessette was saying.
- 1:55:20Speaker 17: I was extremely happy to hear what he's saying. I
- 1:55:23Speaker 17: just hope they keep enough of the kinetic side, enough
- 1:55:26Speaker 17: of the warfare going, to make sure that they aren't
- 1:55:29Speaker 17: rebuilding supply chains that they can use in other avenues
- 1:55:33Speaker 17: than the Persian Gulf. They've got to try to shut up.
- 1:55:35Speaker 17: This is a massive piece of ground. It is not
- 1:55:38Speaker 17: a simple place to deal with, and it is a
- 1:55:40Speaker 17: sophisticated country. Now, here's the irony, though. We're shooting these
- 1:55:47Speaker 17: 1,000 Tomahawk missiles that cost $ 2.
- 1:55:49Speaker 12: 25 million apiece.
- 1:55:51Speaker 17: They will take us years to rebuild this.
- 1:55:53Speaker 3: Thing, right?
- 1:55:54Speaker 17: And all we're hearing about is how Ukraine is destroying
- 1:55:57Speaker 17: the Russian energy infrastructure and how Iran is able to
- 1:56:01Speaker 17: do all the things that it's doing with very inexpensive
- 1:56:04Speaker 17: short-range missiles and drones. And these are real weapons. The
- 1:56:08Speaker 17: fact that they aren't the most sophisticated weapons on the planet,
- 1:56:11Speaker 17: like a Tomahawk, yes, they're not a Tomahawk. They also
- 1:56:15Speaker 17: don't cost $ 2. 25 million. They cost $ 20, 000. And they're making
- 1:56:19Speaker 17: them inside Iran. You do not need sophisticated supply chains.
- 1:56:22Speaker 17: And here's the crime. The crime is that this nation
- 1:56:25Speaker 17: is trapped in the clutches of a military-industrial complex that
- 1:56:30Speaker 17: refuses to allow us to go make cheap weapons that
- 1:56:33Speaker 17: are effective. We should be raining cheap missiles and drones.
- 1:56:38Speaker 17: down on these the on any supply chains that they
- 1:56:42Speaker 17: have that are still running uh... in in any anywhere
- 1:56:45Speaker 17: in that country and we can't do it because we
- 1:56:47Speaker 17: don't build that kind of thing because they don't cost
- 1:56:50Speaker 17: two point two five million dollars this is this has
- 1:56:53Speaker 17: got to change this is again the idiocy of government
- 1:56:56Speaker 17: you know you mentioned walmart a minute ago just a
- 1:56:58Speaker 17: shift into that per second estimate that walmart earnings would
- 1:57:03Speaker 17: have been zero point eight percent higher which is a
- 1:57:05Speaker 17: significant number of our company that side but for the
- 1:57:09Speaker 17: repricing policy on pharmaceuticals. Now, wait a minute. Once again,
- 1:57:15Speaker 17: it's lower earnings because government decided so. The government is
- 1:57:20Speaker 17: involved in everything we're doing, and they make bad decisions,
- 1:57:23Speaker 17: and a very bad decision is forcing us to continue
- 1:57:26Speaker 17: paying All this money for expensive weaponry when we're fighting
- 1:57:30Speaker 17: people who are just simply using the cheapest, most effective
- 1:57:33Speaker 17: tool available to get the job done. If we shifted
- 1:57:37Speaker 17: into drones, remember when we started making all those lung-blasting
- 1:57:40Speaker 17: ventilators that they decided not to use because they were
- 1:57:43Speaker 17: killing everybody.
- 1:57:44Speaker 13: Once we got them?
- 1:57:46Speaker 21: Look how fast that happened.
- 1:57:48Speaker 17: Trump got every manufacturer that could put a motherboard in
- 1:57:50Speaker 17: a machine to get those things made. We should be
- 1:57:53Speaker 17: making these missiles and drones at a pace that is frightening.
- 1:57:57Speaker 17: And we're not, because they don't cost $ 2. 25 million, and
- 1:58:00Speaker 17: no general gets a board seat for buying a $ 20, 000 drone.
- 1:58:04Speaker 17: So we have a serious problem that has to get rectified,
- 1:58:07Speaker 17: and I'm very concerned about that. So I think that
- 1:58:11Speaker 17: is the course. I think what Besant said is smart.
- 1:58:13Speaker 17: It's the best path forward. I think on the kinetic side,
- 1:58:16Speaker 17: they've got to maintain this blockade, let everybody else's ships
- 1:58:19Speaker 17: out but Iran's, but maintain the blockade, and absolutely under
- 1:58:23Speaker 17: no circumstances go in with ground forces or Or do these,
- 1:58:27Speaker 17: you know, firebombing cities, destroying water supply energy and nuking them.
- 1:58:31Speaker 17: We just can't do that. We don't have cause and
- 1:58:34Speaker 17: we don't have the national will to do so. It
- 1:58:36Speaker 17: will rip the country apart.
- 1:58:38Speaker 3: Our country.
- 1:58:40Speaker 1: Yeah, Trump's in a catch-22. He's definitely created a mess.
- 1:58:43Speaker 1: And look how long, incidentally, the Ukraine war has gone
- 1:58:47Speaker 1: on and on and on and on as well. Stand by.
- 1:58:51Speaker 1: We'll take some calls after this. NewsRadio 570 WKBN. News
- 1:58:55Speaker 1: Radio 570 WKVN. Vice President J.D.
- 1:59:01Speaker 6: Vance returned to his hometown of Middletown Friday to celebrate
- 1:59:04Speaker 6: a $ 1 million investment in Cleveland Cliffs Middletown Works Steel Plant.
- 1:59:08Speaker 6: The project includes $ 500 million in support from the U.S.
- 1:59:11Speaker 6: Department of Energy and is expected to employ more than
- 1:59:14Speaker 6: 1,500 workers during peak construction. Vance highlighted his grandfather's 40
- 1:59:18Speaker 6: years as a welder at the plant, saying it was
- 1:59:20Speaker 6: a great day for Middletown in southwest Ohio. He also
- 1:59:23Speaker 6: praised the Trump administration's efforts to bring manufacturing jobs back
- 1:59:26Speaker 6: to the U.S. while attacking Democratic policies and urging support
- 1:59:30Speaker 6: for Ohio Republican candidates this coming November. And in the meantime,
- 1:59:34Speaker 6: a Wooden County man is facing charges for allegedly assaulting
- 1:59:37Speaker 6: a woman. David Kensley of Perrysburg is accused of attacking
- 1:59:40Speaker 6: a woman in late June, pushing her to the ground,
- 1:59:42Speaker 6: throwing her head first through a wall, and holding a
- 1:59:44Speaker 6: knife to her head. The victim suffered major injuries, including
- 1:59:48Speaker 6: a fractured vertebrae. I'm Brady Hopkins.

- 2:00:01Speaker 1: A to Z, Ron Verb. On NewsRadio 570, WKBN. Well, hidey-ho,
- 2:00:08Speaker 1: NewsRadio 570, WKBN, Ron Ferb, G2. Oops, wait a second here.
- 2:00:13Speaker 1: Hang on a second. Let me do that. Let me
- 2:00:15Speaker 1: do this. All right, now let me do this. All right,
- 2:00:19Speaker 1: let me take some calls here, see what awaits us.
- 2:00:22Speaker 1: You're on the air.
- 2:00:24Speaker 3: Ronnie.
- 2:00:26Speaker 1: It's Vince from Austintown. Vincent.
- 2:00:29Speaker 15: One of your oldest and above-ground friends.
- 2:00:34Speaker 1: It seems to be the case these days. Well, at
- 2:00:37Speaker 1: least for now.
- 2:00:42Speaker 15: And I want to tell people how great you and
- 2:00:45Speaker 15: little Eric was the other day after we were pushing
- 2:00:48Speaker 15: the lawnmower down the street to my buddy's house.
- 2:00:54Speaker 1: You were spotted by myself and my adult son. He's
- 2:01:00Speaker 1: not little Eric. He's 30-something years old. But anyway..
- 2:01:04Speaker 15: And then you said, hey, do you guys need a hand?
- 2:01:08Speaker 1: No, I don't remember that at all. Here's how I
- 2:01:11Speaker 1: remember it. You're pushing this lawnmower that you borrowed from
- 2:01:13Speaker 1: your neighbor down the street because your mower broke. And
- 2:01:17Speaker 1: I remember my son calling your phone saying, are you
- 2:01:22Speaker 1: stealing that or what are you doing?
- 2:01:26Speaker 15: And I said, no.
- 2:01:30Speaker 1: You said, no, I don't. And goodbye, never call me again. Well,
- 2:01:36Speaker 1: you know, it was pretty pathetic. I mean, at your age, really,
- 2:01:42Speaker 1: with the heart issues you have, it's probably best to just, well..
- 2:01:47Speaker 15: The issues I have were taken care of by Dr.
- 2:01:50Speaker 15: Henn and his staff. So I'm okay on that end.
- 2:01:56Speaker 1: That's what they all say. Okay, go ahead.
- 2:01:59Speaker 15: Have you seen any... Amy at their positive commercials. We've
- 2:02:06Speaker 15: seen everything that Rivette has thrown out there about she
- 2:02:11Speaker 15: was on drugs and couldn't use the remote. Have you
- 2:02:15Speaker 15: seen any Amy positive commercials, or did they, the Democratic Party..
- 2:02:25Speaker 1: No, I don't think– believe me, the Democratic Party is
- 2:02:29Speaker 1: not going to give up this area. It's still a
- 2:02:33Speaker 1: 50-50 area. And as far as Amy Acton is concerned– Well,
- 2:02:39Speaker 1: they say that if you believe the polls, it's neck
- 2:02:42Speaker 1: and neck or she's got a slight lead in the polls,
- 2:02:45Speaker 1: which is a possibility. She's I said it early on
- 2:02:49Speaker 1: when she did when Tim Ryan said he wasn't going
- 2:02:51Speaker 1: to run. I said they picked the Democrat Party should
- 2:02:55Speaker 1: stick with her because they picked a better candidate than
- 2:02:57Speaker 1: Tim Ryan. She's a woman and a lot of women
- 2:02:59Speaker 1: will vote for because she's a woman. A lot of
- 2:03:02Speaker 1: people know her when COVID was going on. And she
- 2:03:06Speaker 1: has a very likable way when she comes across at
- 2:03:08Speaker 1: these conversations, these get-togethers that she has. But what she
- 2:03:16Speaker 1: stands for is God-awful. But there's people that don't... So
- 2:03:23Speaker 1: I hope Vivek wins. I genuinely do. I would never
- 2:03:27Speaker 1: vote for Amy Acton.
- 2:03:28Speaker 17: They're not slowing down. I'm getting regular texts from the
- 2:03:30Speaker 17: Amy Acton campaign asking for campaign donations and advertising her positions.
- 2:03:36Speaker 17: I mean, they're working it hard. They're not backing off. And,
- 2:03:40Speaker 17: you know, you're right. She's completely unqualified. But if you
- 2:03:44Speaker 17: don't look at the qualifications... Why not? And her performance
- 2:03:48Speaker 17: during COVID was a disaster.
- 2:03:50Speaker 1: But she could win.
- 2:03:50Speaker 17: How many people really understand that?
- 2:03:52Speaker 1: Yeah, she could definitely win.
- 2:03:54Speaker 3: She can win.
- 2:03:55Speaker 17: She's a threat.
- 2:03:56Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:03:57Speaker 17: A threat.
- 2:03:57Speaker 3: All right.
- 2:03:58Speaker 19: I'll buy you.
- 2:03:59Speaker 17: Hey, here's one point on Amy Acton, if you would.
- 2:04:02Speaker 17: You know, a lot of people are saying, hey, listen,
- 2:04:04Speaker 17: let's not vote for Vivek because of the H-1B thing.
- 2:04:07Speaker 17: And I got to tell you, you know, you've heard
- 2:04:09Speaker 17: me scream about these things for years now. I agree
- 2:04:11Speaker 17: the H-1B thing is bad, and he seems to be
- 2:04:14Speaker 17: maybe leaning that way. But then they say, well, let's
- 2:04:16Speaker 17: get acting. Even though everything she stands for is horrible,
- 2:04:20Speaker 17: we'll then have the majority in the state legislature that
- 2:04:24Speaker 17: can stop her from implementing her policies. Well, that's kind
- 2:04:28Speaker 17: of crazy, isn't it? Why wouldn't you go with Vivek,
- 2:04:30Speaker 17: who you agree with on 9 out of 10 issues,
- 2:04:33Speaker 17: and use that legislature to stop him on the H-1Bs?
- 2:04:36Speaker 17: Because I'll tell you this, if you think she is
- 2:04:38Speaker 17: going to oppose H-1B visas... That is not consistent with
- 2:04:42Speaker 17: her party's agenda and execution. So you're going to get
- 2:04:45Speaker 17: the H-1B support at some level either way. But at
- 2:04:49Speaker 17: least with Vivek Ramaswamy, you're probably going to get intelligent
- 2:04:52Speaker 17: economic policies, and hopefully he can start shifting this Mike
- 2:04:57Speaker 17: DeWine problem into a real, more conservative, more active, more
- 2:05:02Speaker 17: better policy position for a Republican governorship.
- 2:05:05Speaker 1: All right, Vince, go ahead. What?
- 2:05:08Speaker 15: When the Vex Barber came out for him, that won
- 2:05:10Speaker 15: me over.
- 2:05:11Speaker 1: When who?
- 2:05:13Speaker 13: The Vex Barber.
- 2:05:14Speaker 15: Don't you ever see the commercial?
- 2:05:16Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 2:05:18Speaker 17: Great ad.
- 2:05:19Speaker 1: Yeah, there you go. All right, Vince.
- 2:05:21Speaker 17: It's a great ad.
- 2:05:22Speaker 4: Thanks.
- 2:05:22Speaker 1: Appreciate it. I'm happy to report the U.S. Supreme Court
- 2:05:25Speaker 1: Chief Justice John Roberts temporarily allowed above-ground construction of Trump's
- 2:05:30Speaker 1: White House ballroom to continue Friday. issuing a stay of
- 2:05:34Speaker 1: a lower court injunction that would block the work. Roberts
- 2:05:37Speaker 1: issued an administrative stay of a preliminary injunction entered April
- 2:05:43Speaker 1: 16th by the U.S. District Court of putting the injunction
- 2:05:47Speaker 1: on hold pending further order from Roberts or the Supreme Court.
- 2:05:50Speaker 1: The move puts the case in a temporary holding pattern
- 2:05:53Speaker 1: while the Supreme Court considers whether the Constitution can continue
- 2:05:57Speaker 1: or construction can continue and the underlying legal battle plays out.
- 2:06:01Speaker 1: Above-ground construction can continue for now. We're all happy about that,
- 2:06:05Speaker 1: that the ballroom construction will continue. I've been tossing and
- 2:06:09Speaker 1: turning all night over that, incidentally. I've been very concerned
- 2:06:12Speaker 1: about it.
- 2:06:13Speaker 17: The fact that the United States Supreme Court is involved
- 2:06:15Speaker 17: in a construction project is utterly ridiculous and is a
- 2:06:18Speaker 17: sign of a nation in distress.
- 2:06:21Speaker 1: And I'm also happy to report WNBA commissioner. Do you
- 2:06:23Speaker 1: know the WNBA commissioner is G2? Do you have any idea?
- 2:06:29Speaker 17: I'm not sure who it.
- 2:06:30Speaker 12: Is, no.
- 2:06:31Speaker 1: I'm going to show you an easy way to remember it,
- 2:06:33Speaker 1: all right? I'm going to give you an easy way
- 2:06:34Speaker 1: to remember it because if anyone says, hey, G2, who's
- 2:06:37Speaker 1: the WNBA commissioner, okay? Now, here's how you're going to
- 2:06:41Speaker 1: remember it. Remember there's a singer named Engelbert Humperdinck. Remember him?
- 2:06:47Speaker 3: Yes, I do.
- 2:06:48Speaker 1: All right, so Engelbert Humperdinck, and the NBA commissioner's name
- 2:06:53Speaker 1: is Kathy Engelbert.
- 2:06:57Speaker 3: Ah, okay.
- 2:06:58Speaker 17: Well, I will tell you, I'm standing by with bated breath,
- 2:07:01Speaker 17: because if Roycinda White gets to play, I will begin
- 2:07:05Speaker 17: watching WNBA games. I don't even watch NBA games, but
- 2:07:09Speaker 17: if Roycinda is playing, I'm watching.
- 2:07:12Speaker 1: Here's the problem, though. I'm afraid, folks, I confused G2.
- 2:07:15Speaker 1: He'll think the WNBA commissioner is Engelbert Humperdinck. No, I
- 2:07:19Speaker 1: said it's Kathy Engelbert, okay? I'm helping you understand that.
- 2:07:24Speaker 1: Put that in your head. She denounced those she claims
- 2:07:27Speaker 1: are using the league to sow divisiveness over the topic
- 2:07:31Speaker 1: of transgender athletes. Engelbert commented on the matter in Dallas
- 2:07:36Speaker 1: on Thursday, a week after the league issued a statement
- 2:07:38Speaker 1: criticizing concerns about transgender participants in WNBA. People are trying
- 2:07:44Speaker 1: to use the league to create divisiveness, Engelbert said, while
- 2:07:48Speaker 1: standing next to Wings CEO and managing partner Greg Bibb.
- 2:07:53Speaker 1: We're being the center of political football for people who
- 2:07:56Speaker 1: have never watched the WNBA, never written about the WNBA
- 2:07:59Speaker 1: or reported on the WNBA. For background, various WNBA players
- 2:08:03Speaker 1: and media members condone fever star Sophie Cunningham for stating
- 2:08:08Speaker 1: in an ESPN profile last month that the effort should
- 2:08:11Speaker 1: be made to protect little girls from competing against biological males.
- 2:08:17Speaker 1: The backlash within the WNBA to Cunningham's remark prompted former
- 2:08:21Speaker 1: NBA players to ask how women in the league would
- 2:08:25Speaker 1: feel about having to compete against men to fight out.
- 2:08:29Speaker 1: Freedom and White declared themselves eligible for the WNBA draft,
- 2:08:33Speaker 1: saying they identify as women. This is ridiculous, isn't it?
- 2:08:38Speaker 17: Well, I didn't realize that Karen Humperdick is a transphobe.
- 2:08:43Speaker 17: I thought she would welcome Royce into the league. and
- 2:08:47Speaker 17: recognize Roy Cinder's womanhood. This is offensive to me, that
- 2:08:50Speaker 17: the commissioner of the WNBA is a transphobe. I had
- 2:08:55Speaker 17: no idea.
- 2:08:56Speaker 1: Let's see. The league's collective bargaining agreement states that only
- 2:09:01Speaker 1: players who are women are eligible to play in the WNBA.
- 2:09:05Speaker 1: The agreement does not include any more specific language about
- 2:09:08Speaker 1: men who identify as women. Clearly, Engelbert... the people have
- 2:09:14Speaker 1: turned to the WNBA. The last thing I want to
- 2:09:17Speaker 1: see is men who declare themselves women playing in the WNBA.
- 2:09:23Speaker 1: As a matter of fact, I don't even want to
- 2:09:25Speaker 1: think about that.
- 2:09:27Speaker 17: I think it'll be hilarious. It'll be a great time.
- 2:09:29Speaker 17: It'll make the sport more profitable and famous. It'll be
- 2:09:34Speaker 17: even more effective than this fake fight between all these
- 2:09:36Speaker 17: players now. We're supposed to believe that somehow The league
- 2:09:40Speaker 17: can't get the refs to enforce the rules and stop
- 2:09:43Speaker 17: the fighting. Of course they can. But it's the drama
- 2:09:46Speaker 17: of the fighting that's drawing people to the WNBA and
- 2:09:48Speaker 17: has people talking about it. Imagine what happens when those
- 2:09:52Speaker 17: four giant women, those four previous dudes, those four giant
- 2:09:57Speaker 17: women walk out on the basketball court and start dribbling.
- 2:10:01Speaker 17: It is going to be epic, and everyone in the
- 2:10:03Speaker 17: world is going to watch. They will make millions.
- 2:10:07Speaker 1: Were there ever any transgender athletes on your favorite basketball team,
- 2:10:11Speaker 1: the Harlem Globetrotters?
- 2:10:13Speaker 17: You know, I never really gave it any thought because
- 2:10:18Speaker 17: I personally am not transphobic.
- 2:10:20Speaker 1: I see. Okay. All right. You're on the air. Hello.
- 2:10:26Speaker 3: Ron.
- 2:10:26Speaker 15: I enjoyed what G2 said, but I'm like you.
- 2:10:32Speaker 3: This is..
- 2:10:35Speaker 5: Amy acted.
- 2:10:36Speaker 3: I don't know how she would, you know, with DeWine.
- 2:10:40Speaker 12: I just don't think.
- 2:10:41Speaker 1: It would be a good situation.
- 2:10:43Speaker 5: You're right.
- 2:10:45Speaker 13: It's getting kind of bad around, isn't it? Kind of bad.
- 2:10:48Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 2:10:48Speaker 17: You know?
- 2:10:49Speaker 1: Thank you, Dick, from Dayton. It is getting kind of bad.
- 2:10:51Speaker 1: You're on the air.
- 2:10:52Speaker 17: He's right.
- 2:10:54Speaker 1: Hello.
- 2:10:54Speaker 4: Hello.
- 2:10:55Speaker 3: Hi, good afternoon.
- 2:10:56Speaker 14: This is Christine Bode. A friend of mine was just
- 2:10:59Speaker 14: driving home from Shaker Woods, where she's a vendor, and
- 2:11:03Speaker 14: she called me because my fiancé, Nick Levinsky, passed away
- 2:11:06Speaker 14: a week ago today.
- 2:11:07Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 2:11:07Speaker 1: Go ahead, I'm sorry. She said she.
- 2:11:10Speaker 14: Heard his name on the radio, that you were speaking
- 2:11:12Speaker 14: about him, and I was wondering how I could catch
- 2:11:14Speaker 14: a recording of the podcast to keep for my own,
- 2:11:17Speaker 14: you know.
- 2:11:18Speaker 1: Well, they usually post it when the program is done.
- 2:11:21Speaker 1: I have nothing to do. iHeart does that. They usually
- 2:11:24Speaker 1: post the program afterwards. I would say to you my condolences.
- 2:11:28Speaker 1: I mean, I knew Nick Levinsky for a long, long time.
- 2:11:32Speaker 1: Him and I were both much younger back in the day,
- 2:11:35Speaker 1: and we would talk quite regularly. I would see him
- 2:11:38Speaker 1: quite often in the parking lot here. We would talk
- 2:11:41Speaker 1: after the program and that kind of stuff when he
- 2:11:42Speaker 1: was a police officer and boardman. He would stop by
- 2:11:45Speaker 1: numerous remotes that I would be at. Are you ready
- 2:11:50Speaker 1: for this? I once arm wrestled Nick Levinsky. I forget,
- 2:11:54Speaker 1: I was on 224. And this was when I was
- 2:11:58Speaker 1: doing some serious physical work. And are you ready for this?
- 2:12:02Speaker 1: I actually beat Nick.
- 2:12:03Speaker 5: Yes.
- 2:12:03Speaker 1: I beat Nick.
- 2:12:04Speaker 5: Did you?
- 2:12:04Speaker 26: Yes.
- 2:12:05Speaker 1: And I mean, we were looking at each other.
- 2:12:08Speaker 14: You never shared that with me, Mr.
- 2:12:10Speaker 8: Verb.
- 2:12:10Speaker 1: He was probably hiding it. But I always enjoyed Nick
- 2:12:14Speaker 1: showing up in his police. He wore this beautiful leather,
- 2:12:19Speaker 1: you know, the police leather jacket. And he... He was
- 2:12:22Speaker 1: very proud of being a Boardman police officer and just
- 2:12:24Speaker 1: was a genuinely– I just thought he was a really
- 2:12:27Speaker 1: good guy, a very, very good guy. And I was
- 2:12:30Speaker 1: deeply saddened when I read about his passing because of–
- 2:12:35Speaker 1: I mentioned earlier Bob Bush passed away and I was
- 2:12:40Speaker 1: saddened by that. That happened today. And then that's on
- 2:12:44Speaker 1: the heels of Nick Levinsky and I was very shocked
- 2:12:47Speaker 1: by that and saddened by that. How long had he
- 2:12:49Speaker 1: had pancreatic cancer?
- 2:12:51Speaker 14: He was diagnosed in late May of 2025. And he
- 2:12:55Speaker 14: went through chemo. Then he went to the Cleveland Clinic
- 2:12:58Speaker 14: last October for a Whipple surgery, which has something to
- 2:13:01Speaker 14: do with taking it out of the pancreas and the
- 2:13:03Speaker 14: lymph nodes that affected. He did more chemo. He was
- 2:13:06Speaker 14: a rock star. I mean, we were going to Menards
- 2:13:08Speaker 14: after chemo up in Howland. And, I mean, he was,
- 2:13:12Speaker 14: you know, the neighbors didn't even realize he had cancer.
- 2:13:15Speaker 14: Then he did radiation in the spring. He had a
- 2:13:18Speaker 14: CAT scan done. June 8th, it was clear, no concerns.
- 2:13:22Speaker 14: By July 21st, he wasn't feeling good all through July.
- 2:13:26Speaker 14: You know, the doctors kept saying it's the radiation affecting him.
- 2:13:29Speaker 14: You know, it's a high dose. Well, then July 21st,
- 2:13:33Speaker 14: I said enough of this. You know, something's not right.
- 2:13:35Speaker 14: Took him for another CAT scan, and it had already
- 2:13:38Speaker 14: metastasized to his stomach, liver, and a peritoneal cavity.
- 2:13:43Speaker 3: And, yeah.
- 2:13:47Speaker 14: But it was full circle, though, Ron, because we would
- 2:13:50Speaker 14: listen to your show in the afternoons. And even if
- 2:13:53Speaker 14: I was driving and randomly forgot to put on AM,
- 2:13:56Speaker 14: he would say put on verb, you know, even with
- 2:13:58Speaker 14: the polling library stuff this summer and the tax and
- 2:14:02Speaker 14: the court of elections relocation. He was very it's almost
- 2:14:06Speaker 14: full circle that his name was mentioned today by his
- 2:14:09Speaker 14: neighbor who he was neighbors and friends with at Shaker
- 2:14:12Speaker 14: Woods for.
- 2:14:12Speaker 4: 30 some years.
- 2:14:14Speaker 14: And she was leaving Shaker Woods today and called me
- 2:14:17Speaker 14: and said, you know, I heard his name just now
- 2:14:19Speaker 14: when I turned on my radio.
- 2:14:20Speaker 1: Well, I can't tell you how sad I was to
- 2:14:24Speaker 1: hear it. I mean, it deeply saddened me when I
- 2:14:30Speaker 1: heard this just because of knowing him over the years
- 2:14:34Speaker 1: and enjoying his company. And I always thought he was
- 2:14:38Speaker 1: just a really good guy. I mean, I just thought
- 2:14:43Speaker 1: the world of him. And then I was just set
- 2:14:46Speaker 1: back because he was only, I think, 71 years old. Seventy.
- 2:14:51Speaker 2: Seventy, yeah.
- 2:14:52Speaker 1: And I didn't know that he was ill. He was
- 2:14:53Speaker 1: always a picture of health. And a Whipple surgery, as
- 2:14:56Speaker 1: you described, is a very extensive surgery, to say the least,
- 2:15:03Speaker 1: to go through all of that. And then he just
- 2:15:04Speaker 1: took a turn for the worse, you're saying.
- 2:15:06Speaker 3: I mean, it.
- 2:15:08Speaker 1: Had spread. Yeah. I'm just deeply saddened by it is
- 2:15:13Speaker 1: all I can say to everybody on it. I would occasionally,
- 2:15:16Speaker 1: when my wife would drive me to Shaker Woods, I
- 2:15:19Speaker 1: would see him down there. and enjoy my conversations with
- 2:15:28Speaker 1: him down there. I can tell you how many times
- 2:15:31Speaker 1: I would get done with the broadcast and I'd come
- 2:15:34Speaker 1: walking out and there he would be in my parking lot.
- 2:15:38Speaker 1: Of course, him and I work similar hours and we
- 2:15:41Speaker 1: just enjoy talking to each other. Let's put it that way.
- 2:15:45Speaker 14: Well, he enjoyed your show and the last few years
- 2:15:48Speaker 14: especially and would always have it on even at his shop. Or,
- 2:15:52Speaker 14: like I said, in the vehicle, he'd always remind me,
- 2:15:55Speaker 14: turn it on. And I could not speak while you
- 2:15:58Speaker 14: were in the show until I had to wait for
- 2:16:01Speaker 14: a commercial to say something.
- 2:16:02Speaker 1: Now, how long had you and Nick been together? I mean,
- 2:16:06Speaker 1: I'm glad that he found happiness. Yeah, nine years.
- 2:16:08Speaker 14: Nine years we've lived together.
- 2:16:10Speaker 3: I live with him.
- 2:16:13Speaker 1: I mean, that makes me feel good. And he was
- 2:16:17Speaker 1: a hell of a talented woodworker. I mean, very, very
- 2:16:21Speaker 1: talented man. And it's just phenomenal. It's really sad. Life
- 2:16:27Speaker 1: is very precious is what you learn from that, you know,
- 2:16:30Speaker 1: with his passing and Bob Bush's passing as well.
- 2:16:33Speaker 17: Yes.
- 2:16:34Speaker 1: Well, my condolences to you. And I'm deeply moved by
- 2:16:40Speaker 1: his passing. And I thank you for calling.
- 2:16:42Speaker 14: Thank you. You're welcome. All right.
- 2:16:44Speaker 5: Thank you.
- 2:16:45Speaker 3: All right.
- 2:16:46Speaker 1: Appreciate it. News Radio 570 WKBN and Ron Verbaugh come
- 2:16:49Speaker 1: back right after this.
- 2:16:56Speaker 11: IDWKBN.
- 2:16:57Speaker 1: She reminds me of that. I always saw Nick Levinsky.
- 2:17:00Speaker 1: He was a sergeant on the Board of the Police Department.
- 2:17:02Speaker 1: I always thought if you had to mold somebody to
- 2:17:05Speaker 1: look like a policeman, I mean, he's just a good-looking guy,
- 2:17:09Speaker 1: wore the uniform well, and just it was sad. It's
- 2:17:14Speaker 1: interesting that when you read some of that stuff, it's
- 2:17:16Speaker 1: just when I should have said to her, when I
- 2:17:19Speaker 1: read that, I was at home, and I just paused
- 2:17:21Speaker 1: and thought about that for quite a while. All right,
- 2:17:23Speaker 1: so with more calls for G2, let me see. You're
- 2:17:27Speaker 1: on the air.
- 2:17:28Speaker 5: Hello.
- 2:17:29Speaker 19: Yeah, my thoughts and respects out to Levinsky's and the
- 2:17:32Speaker 19: Bush family.
- 2:17:33Speaker 1: All right, now.
- 2:17:34Speaker 19: And Denny Lieber's family. I just learned that last week
- 2:17:36Speaker 19: on your radio station. I always liked Denny Lieber. But anyhow, G2, trans-vo,
- 2:17:43Speaker 19: or vo or bo, I never heard that term before. Now,
- 2:17:47Speaker 19: how many X's and Y's... in that genetic makeup?
- 2:17:54Speaker 17: Well, in a transphobe, I mean, like X, X, and X, Y,
- 2:17:57Speaker 17: and anything. I can't keep track of more than two genders.
- 2:18:04Speaker 17: Just can't do it.
- 2:18:05Speaker 1: You just can't do it. All right.
- 2:18:07Speaker 19: Okay, there's X.
- 2:18:09Speaker 1: Now, wait a second. Wait a second. Just so you understand, G2.
- 2:18:13Speaker 1: Denny from Rock Creek is fascinated with Maria Bartiromo. Yeah,
- 2:18:18Speaker 1: she's been off for over a week.
- 2:18:20Speaker 17: What's the matter with her?
- 2:18:21Speaker 19: Is she okay?
- 2:18:22Speaker 1: I'm worried about her. All of a sudden, he calls
- 2:18:26Speaker 1: me out of the blue, and he's now got a
- 2:18:28Speaker 1: fascination with this woman on the WNBA, this Cunningham player.
- 2:18:32Speaker 19: Sophie Cunningham, yes. Just in my dreams, you know.
- 2:18:37Speaker 17: She's no Maria Bartiromo.
- 2:18:40Speaker 1: She's no Maria Bartiromo, though.
- 2:18:44Speaker 17: And I guarantee that you remember the night Maria Bartiromo
- 2:18:47Speaker 17: was at the White House press corps dinner wearing the
- 2:18:49Speaker 17: long gloves.
- 2:18:51Speaker 4: Oh, I did.
- 2:18:52Speaker 19: You know, she fell off her bicycle and it bruised
- 2:18:55Speaker 19: up her arm. She got contusion. So she needed a
- 2:18:58Speaker 19: long glove to cover up the contusion on her arm.
- 2:19:02Speaker 19: And they were welder gloves. They were white welder gloves.
- 2:19:06Speaker 19: I didn't even know welder gloves came in white.
- 2:19:09Speaker 3: I didn't know.
- 2:19:09Speaker 17: Welder gloves came in white, and I've never seen a
- 2:19:12Speaker 17: welder wear them the way she did that night. She
- 2:19:14Speaker 17: looked fantastic.
- 2:19:16Speaker 19: Well, if I was a welder today, I would buy
- 2:19:18Speaker 19: white welder gloves.
- 2:19:21Speaker 1: So you'd be dressing like a woman is what you're saying? No. No,
- 2:19:25Speaker 1: you just said it. Don't deny it. You just said
- 2:19:28Speaker 1: you'd be cross-dressing.
- 2:19:29Speaker 19: You're always trying to turn the table here. Every time
- 2:19:32Speaker 19: I call, you try to.
- 2:19:33Speaker 1: Twist the table. No, it's what you said. So is
- 2:19:39Speaker 1: that interesting? Cunningham and Maria Bartiromo, he's really... All right,
- 2:19:44Speaker 1: we better end it at that.
- 2:19:46Speaker 19: I think so.
- 2:19:46Speaker 5: Have a good day.
- 2:19:47Speaker 1: You're on the air with G2.
- 2:19:49Speaker 12: Hey, Ted, Colin, first-time caller.
- 2:19:52Speaker 1: Yeah, go ahead.
- 2:19:54Speaker 3: I would just like to say that the program is
- 2:19:55Speaker 3: much better when you two guys are arguing and disagreeing.
- 2:19:59Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 2:19:59Speaker 3: So, how's that?
- 2:20:02Speaker 1: Okay, we'll try to do more of it.
- 2:20:03Speaker 17: Wait till we get into flock cameras. Wait till we
- 2:20:05Speaker 17: finally get a window to hit flock cameras. It's going
- 2:20:07Speaker 17: to be epic.
- 2:20:08Speaker 1: All right. Okay. Maybe Monday.
- 2:20:10Speaker 3: Hey, you guys have a good weekend.
- 2:20:11Speaker 1: Thank you. You too. You're on the air.
- 2:20:15Speaker 2: Hello, Ron.
- 2:20:16Speaker 1: Hi, Mayor. Got about 20 seconds.
- 2:20:19Speaker 2: No, I just wanted to express my condolences to the
- 2:20:23Speaker 2: Bush family. Bob was just, he was not only a
- 2:20:27Speaker 2: good policeman, a good lawyer, but he was.
- 2:20:28Speaker 12: A great guy.
- 2:20:29Speaker 7: Yes.
- 2:20:30Speaker 1: He was great. He was a wonderful human being. He
- 2:20:33Speaker 1: really was.
- 2:20:35Speaker 2: It showed in the way he treated people. We need
- 2:20:38Speaker 2: more people like him, especially more police chiefs like Bob Bush.
- 2:20:42Speaker 1: Thank you, Mayor McKelvey. You're the best. G2, thank you
- 2:20:46Speaker 1: as well. Have a great weekend.
- 2:20:47Speaker 17: And thank you.
- 2:20:48Speaker 12: Have a great weekend.
- 2:20:49Speaker 4: Bye-bye.
