- 0:00Chapter 6 from the book of Isaiah.
- 0:05Dear Lord, please allow the Holy Spirit to open our eyes, to give
- 0:11us revelation, to give us insight as we read through your
- 0:15word. We ask this in Jesus name, Amen.
- 0:20In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord high and
- 0:27exalted, seated on a throne, and the train of his robe filled the
- 0:32temple. Above him were seraphim, each
- 0:36with six wings. With two wings they covered
- 0:40their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two
- 0:45they were flying, and they were calling to one another.
- 0:49Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty.
- 0:54The whole earth is full of His glory.
- 0:58At the sound of their voices, the door posts and thresholds
- 1:02shook, and the temple was filled with smoke.
- 1:07Woe to me, I cried, I am ruined. This is Isaiah talking, for I am
- 1:14a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean
- 1:19lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the Lord Almighty.
- 1:26Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a live coal in his hand,
- 1:30which he had taken with tongues from the altar.
- 1:34With it he touched my mouth and said, See, this has touched your
- 1:40lips. Your guilt is taken away and
- 1:44your sin atoned. For.
- 1:47I will pause there for a moment and just read the questions and
- 1:52answers that get up to this point from the study Bible
- 1:57because and then I'll talk if there's something that isn't
- 2:01covered here that I wanted to say.
- 2:02So why isn't Isaiah's Commission at the beginning of the book?
- 2:06Isaiah's Commission in the year that King Uzziah died most
- 2:11likely preceded his preaching ministry.
- 2:15In much the same way that a writer establishes context,
- 2:18Isaiah may have delayed this chapter for the sake of impact.
- 2:22The first five chapters of the book clearly established Judah's
- 2:27sinful condition. The people had mocked the Holy
- 2:30One of Israel, and now he has commissioned Isaiah to call them
- 2:35to account. What are seraphim?
- 2:39Seraphim are angelic creatures that seem to serve as a kind of
- 2:45honor guard for God. They are not mentioned
- 2:49elsewhere, but their actions correspond to those of the quote
- 2:54living creatures of Revelation in chapter 4, verses 6 through
- 3:009, each of whom is also said to have 6 wings.
- 3:06From their name, which means burning ones, we assume that
- 3:10they manifest A fiery brilliance.
- 3:14Their main activity appears to be praising God.
- 3:18We see that in Isaiah chapter 6 verse 3 and Revelation chapter 4
- 3:24verse 8. What is the meaning of unclean
- 3:27lips? Unclean lips are sinful since
- 3:30the mouth expresses the sinful intentions of human of the human
- 3:35heart. Recognizing that he himself was
- 3:40a man of unclean lips who was living among a people steeped in
- 3:44this sinful condition helps us better understand the anguish
- 3:49Isaiah felt as he stood before an awesome and holy God.
- 3:55Then it says how valid are visions today?
- 3:58In scripture, God sometimes spoke to people in visions and
- 4:02dreams. You can find that in Numbers
- 4:07chapter 12, verse 6. There's also a lot of other
- 4:09places where this happens. In the book of Daniel, there's a
- 4:14lot of that, actually. All of these prophets had
- 4:18visions and dreams and Joseph in the book of Genesis had dreams
- 4:25and he was, you know, very early on when he dreamed about the 12
- 4:29tribes of Israel actually bowing to him.
- 4:33They're just God used dreams and visions throughout, like most of
- 4:38the prophetic books of the Bible.
- 4:40Anyone who, I mean, he communicated with people that
- 4:44way, people I believe, who were obedient and submitted to God
- 4:49received these these dreams and visions.
- 4:53The Lord commissioned Isaiah to be a prophet through a vision.
- 4:57The apostle Paul received a vision in the night.
- 5:01Peter's vision came to him in a trance.
- 5:04And the Book of Revelation comprises 1 long vision given to
- 5:08the apostle John. So those are all the New
- 5:12Testament ones. But along the Old Testament,
- 5:14it's all over the place. So in his sermon on the day of
- 5:19Pentecost, Peter quoted Joel two in the last days God says I will
- 5:25pour out my spirit on all people.
- 5:29Your sons and daughter will prophecy, your young men will
- 5:33see visions, your old men will dream dreams.
- 5:38You can find that in Acts chapter 2 verse 17 and of course
- 5:43in Joel chapter 2. So Peter certainly viewed the
- 5:47last days as ushered in by Jesus death and resurrection.
- 5:52But we are to take everything Peter said here.
- 5:56But are we to take everything Peter said here literally?
- 6:00Or was he quoting an extended passage from Joel to make a more
- 6:04simple point? Opinions differ on whether God
- 6:07still appears to people in visions.
- 6:10Some people believe that since we have the Bible and the Holy
- 6:12Spirit's guidance, we no longer need visions.
- 6:15Others believe that God continues to speak through
- 6:18dreams and visions, though these occurrences are rare and must be
- 6:21authenticated by what is already revealed in God's Word.
- 6:26If you, I think you've received a vision from God, be sure to
- 6:28discuss it with your pastor or a Christian mentor because
- 6:32cautious about relating or interpreting a vision apart from
- 6:35the guidance of God's Word. And so it gives some.
- 6:39So anyway, this is, I'm curious like when my Bible was written
- 6:43or produced, I know I probably bought it in 2016 or 17.
- 6:49So this was, let's see when it was copyrighted.
- 6:52I'm just curious. Let's see.
- 6:56Copyright 2011. So maybe at that time there
- 7:00weren't a lot, but boy, if you look today, how many people are
- 7:04having dreams and visions? Children, adults, men, women,
- 7:11I'm, I'm going to say thousands, maybe even millions of people
- 7:16are having dreams and visions today.
- 7:19And, and there's, there's no doubt.
- 7:22I mean, like there's a couple of YouTube channels that I've found
- 7:28that do publish people's dreams and I've, I've listened to
- 7:33several of them. Some of them, you know, actually
- 7:36most of them do seem to have the Holy Spirit inspired just by the
- 7:42message that they give aligns with Scripture.
- 7:45There are some that, you know, I, I guess some of them that
- 7:49might be a little bit off, but again, just like you always do
- 7:53is test everything with God, pray about it to God.
- 7:57Does it line up with Scripture? Anything that contradicts
- 8:00Scripture, don't believe it, but it, I, I believe that God does
- 8:06still speak to people in dreams and visions.
- 8:09And probably because that happens to me and it started the
- 8:13night of my baptism and it's continued and I've had over 80
- 8:17dreams since then. And some of the dreams, I would
- 8:21see something in my dream and then later it would that vision
- 8:26that I saw in my dream or that scene, it wasn't a vision
- 8:30because I was sleeping and but that would show up in real life.
- 8:34And this happened numerous times that ended up catching my
- 8:38attention because it was like, OK, this is more than just a
- 8:42dream. There's something more to this.
- 8:44And very often the name of Jesus and the power of the name of
- 8:48Jesus was featured in my dreams. So I have experienced this so
- 8:54that's why it's easy for me to believe this because I know and
- 8:59I know this is this all started when I fully surrendered and
- 9:03didn't want to be a hypocrite anymore about how I was living
- 9:06life and that's when the stuff started happening.
- 9:09Never before did it ever happen. So I I believe there is some
- 9:15correlation between obedience, surrender and decision about
- 9:22following, following Christ and not being a hypocrite.
- 9:27That made a difference. And yeah, so anyway, this isn't
- 9:33about me. This is about chapter 6.
- 9:35So anyway, dreams and visions I think are still happening today.
- 9:38So continuing on in Scripture chapter verse 10, May the heart
- 9:43of this people make the heart of this people.
- 9:48Oh, wait, I jumped around. OK, so I I finished to him being
- 9:54atoned. It was like, OK, so it didn't
- 9:58OK, here it is. Sorry.
- 10:00I'm jumping around because I was looking for this burning coal
- 10:03and seeing if the study Bible had some information on it
- 10:05because I have a thought about it, but I was hoping that the
- 10:08study Bible would have something because it will probably explain
- 10:11it much better than I. So how can a live coal take away
- 10:14guilt burning? Coals were taken inside the Most
- 10:18Holy Place on the Day of Atonement, Leviticus 16, verse
- 10:2412, when the sacrifice was made to atone for sin.
- 10:28The hot coal here symbolizes both God's wrath and His process
- 10:35of purification. In order for sin to be forgiven,
- 10:39God's wrath, which both destroys and purifies, must be released
- 10:44against the sin. Significantly, one of the
- 10:48seraphim, the burning ones is the instrument of purification
- 10:53administered to the prophet Isaiah, administered to the
- 10:57prophet Isaiah may well have learned from this experience
- 11:01that sinful human beings can join in the worship of the
- 11:05burning ones only when a purified only when purified by
- 11:10the fire of God. OK, so I have a little bit of a
- 11:15different, not a different, but an additional understanding or
- 11:20thought about this. So I, I agree with you know,
- 11:26the, the Day of Atonement and the sacrifices and the burnt
- 11:29offerings that were done and those were used for forgiveness
- 11:32of sins. But the atonement was only that
- 11:37you nothing could bring about atonement except for Jesus and
- 11:43for the I guess the, the, yeah, the life for the life.
- 11:47I mean, that was a temporary forgiveness that had to be done
- 11:53annually that God gave to the Israelites as a way of temporary
- 11:59forgiveness. And but that was also symbolic.
- 12:05Those sacrifices were also symbolic of Jesus eventually,
- 12:08because the Lamb of Jesus has referred to metaphorically as
- 12:11the Lamb of God, the sacrifice who takes away the sin of the
- 12:15world. And that's what Jesus does.
- 12:19So obviously this is way before Jesus.
- 12:21This is around 700 BC. So Isaiah is he's prophesying
- 12:28during the times of the kings of Israel.
- 12:30So they already knew about these things.
- 12:32You know, the law had already been given to the Israelites.
- 12:35They weren't really following them, Israelites, Judah, the,
- 12:38you know, the tribes and some were maybe following better than
- 12:43others. But at this point in time, both
- 12:46of them were turning away from God.
- 12:48And Isaiah is basically being commissioned by God to make it
- 12:55known that because they've turned away from God and haven't
- 12:58turned towards him, there was going to be judgment.
- 13:01Now, I do also agree with what the study Bible says, that
- 13:04because it talks about a purification of fire.
- 13:08There's a purification of water and of fire.
- 13:10As you look into Scripture and you know, the water is a couple
- 13:15different things. You know, it may be that
- 13:18purification that happened during Noah's, the flood, the
- 13:22flood of Noah's time where God did purify the earth and got rid
- 13:27of everyone but the eight people that were on Noah's ark, It
- 13:32flooded the world. And God uses the rainbow to tell
- 13:36us that he will never flood the world again.
- 13:38But that is something by water where it was purified.
- 13:43The rituals that were given to them with the priest, they had
- 13:47to cleanse themselves. They had to wash themselves to
- 13:51be ceremonial clean. That's another purification by
- 13:53water and then a purification by water today that we experience
- 13:58is baptism. Baptism is the for the
- 14:02forgiveness of sins. But then there's that other part
- 14:06of it that Jesus talked about that going through a baptism of
- 14:10water and of fire and the fire often this is interesting
- 14:17because when the Holy Spirit came on, the people, on the
- 14:20disciples that were this written about in the book of Acts, it
- 14:24came as like a tongue of fire above their heads, the anointing
- 14:28of the Holy Spirit. So the Holy Spirit is also
- 14:32related to fire or purification. If people don't listen or
- 14:41respond to God's Word, he will put people through fire, not
- 14:46literally, but through a testing period.
- 14:50Often he refers to people as silver and how silver is refined
- 14:55by going through fire. And there was a great
- 14:59description of this or insightfulness about that
- 15:02Scripture that talked about God is the refiner and he's putting
- 15:06the silver into the fire and he has to watch it until it gets to
- 15:10a point where he can see his image.
- 15:14And that's what he does with us. He'll put us if we are not
- 15:17responding to him, he'll put us through the fire.
- 15:20He'll put us through the the challenge so that that that, you
- 15:26know, that testing of us, that, you know, those unfortunate
- 15:30events are there to purify us and and then when we come out,
- 15:35we will become changed and more of a reflection of God.
- 15:40And so that purification by fire happens that way also.
- 15:45So I think there's a lot of different ways.
- 15:47And then, you know, just coming under fire when we don't wake
- 15:50up, when we don't, with all of God's words and his warnings, we
- 15:56can respond to that and perhaps avoid some of the fire of
- 16:01purification. Or we can just say, not right
- 16:05now, I've got other things, I'm busy, I can't do this right now.
- 16:10Then we can probably expect that we're going to get some stronger
- 16:14fire coming into our life that's going to shake us up.
- 16:19And often people will turn to God when everything else is
- 16:23taken away from them, when everything else is destroyed and
- 16:27they have nothing else. And then they finally turn to
- 16:31God when everything's taken away.
- 16:34So if we are stubborn and we don't listen, when things are
- 16:39good in our lives, we can keep on going down the path and have
- 16:43an expectation that at some point God is going to put a
- 16:48little fire in our life because he wants all the purpose of it
- 16:53isn't to harm people. It is to wake people up to have
- 16:57them seek God because it's to seek God, seek him and he will
- 17:00be found. So He wants to encourage us.
- 17:04And when we're very strong headed and stubborn and we don't
- 17:08want to turn to God, then he has to do these things to make our
- 17:12life challenging so that we turn to him.
- 17:16And it's written throughout history.
- 17:18He does this over and over again.
- 17:19When you read through the Bible, you find out this is how God
- 17:22works. So when you're in the middle of
- 17:24testing, that's why Paul says, you know, like, oh gosh, I will
- 17:29find find joy, I guess, in all circumstances, because as we go
- 17:34through hardships, it's actually purifying us.
- 17:36It's creating endurance within us.
- 17:38And and so anyway, that's what I what is written in the study
- 17:46Bible. So then I will go back to verse
- 17:508. Then I heard the voice of the
- 17:53Lord saying, whom shall I send and who will go for us?
- 17:58And I said, here am I send me. So Isaiah's offering to be of
- 18:04service to God, he said go and tell this.
- 18:07So he, the Lord said go and tell this people.
- 18:12So he's talking about Israel, all of Israel, I guess Judah and
- 18:19well, the 10 tribes, I guess, I guess is primarily to the the
- 18:22tribe of Judah. Go and tell this people, be ever
- 18:26hearing, but never understanding, be ever seeing,
- 18:29but never perceiving. Make the hearts of this people
- 18:33calloused, make their ears dull, and close their eyes, otherwise
- 18:37they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand
- 18:41with their hearts, and turn and be healed.
- 18:44Then I said, For how long Lord? And he answered, until the
- 18:49cities lie ruined and without inhabitant, until the houses are
- 18:54left deserted and the fields ruined and ravaged, until the
- 18:58Lord has sent everyone far away and the land is utterly
- 19:03forsaken, and though a 10th remains in the land, it will
- 19:08again be laid waste. So that was interesting to me.
- 19:13I thought again because this was first of all the the kings of
- 19:19Israel were really evil. They ended up losing their
- 19:23capital of Samaria which is modern day West Bank.
- 19:26They lost that first and they were captured by the Assyrians.
- 19:30Then Judah was did the same thing as Israel.
- 19:37It was Judah and Benjamin were the southern tribes and they,
- 19:42they had a mixture of good kings and bad kings, but they were
- 19:46eventually taken over by Babylonia or the Babylonian
- 19:50king. And I think it was
- 19:53Nebuchadnezzar who did that. And so both of the, the
- 19:58groupings of the Kingdom that was divided, they both got
- 20:02conquered. They got conquered because they
- 20:04weren't turned towards God. They were not living according
- 20:07to God's commands and. So we can apply this to our own
- 20:12lives, that we can expect judgement from God if we are not
- 20:17obedient to God's commands. Because God.
- 20:21God says be holy because I am holy.
- 20:25And the commands are guideline, not guidelines.
- 20:28Well, they are, but they're guardrails.
- 20:30They keep us from sin. When we obey that, they keep us
- 20:34from sin. Sin separates us from God.
- 20:38So if we obey the commandments, we are not separated from God.
- 20:43We are also showing God that we love God because Jesus said if
- 20:47you love me, obey my commands. So when we obey the commands,
- 20:51that's when we show God we, we accept you, we love you, we're
- 20:56listening to you. We are your children.
- 20:58We are obedient to what you want.
- 21:00We are respecting God because we are obeying his commands, the 10
- 21:06commandments. So OK, so this was interesting,
- 21:11like I said, because it says although a 10th remains in the
- 21:14land. So God promised a long time ago
- 21:16that he would never ever wipe out Israel, that Israel would
- 21:21become like the stars in the sky, like the sand on the
- 21:25seashore, and that will happen. But they have to go through this
- 21:31refining because they keep turning away from God.
- 21:35And when I say they, they do, you know, but it also applies to
- 21:39us, We do also, we are not any better than Israel.
- 21:44So we don't like the fingers and say, well, gosh, they're really
- 21:47bad. And you know, I see a lot of
- 21:50that happening today where they're being people are turning
- 21:54to, you know, against Israel and pointing out all of Israel's
- 21:58faults. Israel is not unlike any of us
- 22:04that have not perfect lives with God, not living out the way God
- 22:10commands. So we can't, you know, don't
- 22:15point the fingers because it says that if you do that or if
- 22:18you're judging others, you will be judged in the same manner.
- 22:22So if you want to be judged harshly, keep on judging.
- 22:26I don't want to become harshly judged.
- 22:29I don't need any help with, you know, I'd, I'd prefer a softer
- 22:32judgement and hopefully God will be merciful in that.
- 22:37In fact, you know, when we become believers and we accept
- 22:43what Jesus did as his death on the cross for our salvation, we,
- 22:50we won't be subject to God's wrath.
- 22:52That's what I know. So that's going to be a softer
- 22:54judgement. Will we have a certain placement
- 22:58in God's Kingdom according to the way we lived our life?
- 23:01I believe so. I think the Bible does tell us
- 23:04that. So what we do on earth does
- 23:07matter. God does forgive our sins and it
- 23:11says he, he will remember them no more.
- 23:14That's when we have repented of them, when we stop doing them,
- 23:17not when we keep on doing them. So when we stop doing them, He
- 23:21kind of gives us a clean slate. That's kind of being called born
- 23:25again. We become a new creation, not by
- 23:28our own willpower and decision, but by the help of God through
- 23:34the Holy Spirit in our lives. That's how we overcome sin.
- 23:38That's how we begin to become purified.
- 23:41That's how we begin to come become holy like God is holy
- 23:45through the Holy Spirit, not by anything we do, it's through the
- 23:50Holy Spirit. So that's why we have to, you
- 23:53know, say that we have to be thankful for our salvation that
- 23:58is 100% by God and it's 100% because God has mercy on us and
- 24:04it is a gift to us and it came through Jesus's sacrifice on the
- 24:11cross, which I don't atoned for all of our sins.
- 24:15He was the the sacrifice that it, you know, wipes out all of
- 24:22our sins. That's how God can remember our
- 24:24sins no more because of what Jesus did on the cross.
- 24:27But Jesus told us that in addition to his dying on the
- 24:32cross, OK, what there is something that we have to do and
- 24:36a lot of people like to say Jesus plus nothing, but that's
- 24:39not true because why did Jesus say read chapter 3 of the Gospel
- 24:45of John. Jesus said we must be born
- 24:48again. So Jesus dying on the cross is
- 24:52not going to save the entire world unless we repent.
- 24:59Like Jesus said, take up your own cross.
- 25:01So we have to ask for forgiveness and become a new
- 25:06creation. We have to put death to our sin.
- 25:10It is a a cross that we have to pick up.
- 25:12Like it's not easy to do that, but it's something that we have
- 25:16to willingly do. And Jesus will give us the Holy
- 25:20Spirit because that's how we become born again.
- 25:23That's how we become holy. So anyway, that just, that's the
- 25:29message of salvation. That's how it happens.
- 25:32And if you don't believe me, read the Bible carefully.
- 25:35Don't just listen to people talk.
- 25:38Go into the Bible and find support for whatever you believe
- 25:42and read it in total because you can take one sentence out of
- 25:46context and you don't have you don't take it comprehend it in
- 25:51from the front cover to the back cover.
- 25:54And it's so important. You need to understand or know
- 25:57about the entire Bible and and people can read the Bible in a
- 26:01year. So don't let somebody say, oh,
- 26:03that's too big. In fact, because of the Bible
- 26:07apps and because I had a lot of time, I actually read the entire
- 26:11Bible in three months. I played it non-stop, like when
- 26:15I was driving and I was listening to the Bible, which
- 26:18because it could an audible Bible that could read to you
- 26:20while you were doing that. And then I read it wherever I
- 26:23needed to pick up after that point.
- 26:25But I accomplished it in three months.
- 26:27And so it can be done. And you know, most people say do
- 26:33a Bible in a year. There's plenty of study guides
- 26:35out there that show you how you can get through the Bible in one
- 26:38year. So it's worth it, believe me.
- 26:42OK, so God let's a remnant remained and although a 10th
- 26:47remains in the land, it will again be laid waste.
- 26:50When I saw again and I questioned that, I'm like, I
- 26:52wonder if this means like in the future, like will it be laid
- 26:56waste? I know God is going to save
- 26:58Israel, but how far will he let it go before he saves Israel?
- 27:02Because it does talk about the great tribulation, about this
- 27:06distress that has never been seen before in the world and
- 27:10will never be seen again. So it I don't even know what is
- 27:16going to happen during that time, but I believe that that's
- 27:21what Jesus is talking about. If those days had not been cut
- 27:25short, no one would survive. But for the sake of the elect,
- 27:30those days are shortened. So I believe that's when Jesus
- 27:34comes because it just gets so bad.
- 27:36And if he doesn't come, they will be wiped out.
- 27:39So that's why I think that this again, may be may be referring
- 27:44to a future time potentially in our generation, our lifetime.
- 27:49So, but as the terebinth and oak leave stumps when they are cut
- 27:55down, so the holy seed will be the stump in the land.
- 28:00So God is not letting go of his claim to the land.
- 28:06Jerusalem will be where Jesus reigns from.
- 28:09And the holy seed, you know, that's, that's God, that's
- 28:13Jesus. You know, there's, there's going
- 28:15to be, it will remain there. So that's the end of chapter 6.
- 28:20And there's a few more questions and answers for a couple of
- 28:24them. And so I'm going to read that
- 28:27and then probably just conclude so this doesn't get to be too
- 28:29long. Did God want his people to
- 28:32remain unrepentant? In hindsight, we know that all
- 28:36too few in Judah did heed Isaiah's words, and that a long
- 28:41error era of political disasters began during the course of his
- 28:47ministry. But Isaiah himself did not need
- 28:52hindsight at his call. It was made clear to him that
- 28:56his ministry would be remarkably unsuccessful in his own
- 29:02generation, but that the very failure was ordained by God.
- 29:08On the other hand, we are not to suppose that God forced would be
- 29:12obedient Israelites into disobedience.
- 29:16A parallel may be found in Exodus, where the Pharaoh is
- 29:20sometimes said to have had hardened his own heart and other
- 29:24times to have his have had his heart hardened by God.
- 29:30So that is true. And I, I do believe that God
- 29:34gives us free will, but he also allows our free will to be used.
- 29:40So there's, there's a point in time where God just says, let
- 29:45people be the way they are and then he will do it.
- 29:50And he can often, you know, there's this, there's, there is
- 29:53the enemy of God and the enemy, the evil spiritual realm that
- 29:57influences people. God can use that to accomplish
- 30:04his will. So he's upset with Judah because
- 30:08they were warned and they were warned and they were warned and
- 30:10they just didn't heed the warning.
- 30:14And so God is telling. I mean, basically God's saying
- 30:19to Isaiah like this just clarified that, you know,
- 30:23there's going to be a judgement on these people, you know, don't
- 30:25even worry about that anymore. They, they've had, you know, all
- 30:28these opportunities and this is, you know, they're not going to
- 30:32change their ways. They're, you know, it says their
- 30:35hearts are hardened. Basically, they're strong
- 30:38headed. They are not willing to change
- 30:41their actions. We have that in people today.
- 30:44There's a lot of people who don't want to change their ways.
- 30:47They're being hard, hard, hard headed, strong willed and want
- 30:51to do it their way. They don't want to submit to
- 30:53God. Well, God's going to take care
- 30:56of that at some point in that person's life.
- 30:59And, and I guess I, I learned it the hard way.
- 31:04And so I've been through it. He didn't kill me, but he did,
- 31:09you know, destroy a lot in my life.
- 31:11And, and so if we don't listen, that's how it will be for us.
- 31:17And I, I do see other people headed and that same path.
- 31:21And I like to warn them because I'm like, gosh, you know, I went
- 31:25through all this stuff. You could avoid this if you
- 31:27would just listen. But people don't want to listen.
- 31:31They're not going to do what somebody else says.
- 31:33God has to convict them or the Holy Spirit has to convict them
- 31:37personally before they ever are willing to change.
- 31:40So we can make it known to them, but we can't force anybody to
- 31:45change their ways. That has to be a personal
- 31:47decision because it is a personal relationship with God.
- 31:51So everybody has to figure it out on their own.
- 31:54But anybody that I've spoken to should know.
- 31:58And then it's just up to them when they're ready to actually
- 32:01obey God and and then work on their relationship with God
- 32:06again to get back in a good relationship with God.
- 32:10So anyway, going back to what? Why is the holy seed referred to
- 32:15as a stump? This symbolic language is the
- 32:18heart of Isaiah's message. Even a felled tree leaves a
- 32:22stump behind, which may prove to be the seed bed for fresh
- 32:27growth. Though God's punish, or through
- 32:30God's punishment, a small group of people, a remnant would be,
- 32:36would return from exile in Babylon, purified and holy.
- 32:42With this obedient remnant, God would work his plan of
- 32:47redemption. So again, I think that, you
- 32:51know, God did eventually send Babylon to capture the people,
- 32:56and apparently there was a tent that would remain in the land.
- 32:59And I don't know if there's going to be more Scripture that
- 33:02clarifies who they were. I think they were the poor
- 33:04people that got left and then others were taken and they went
- 33:10into exile. And then some of them, Daniel
- 33:13was one of them who remained faithful.
- 33:16And then we also have Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, which were
- 33:21given names. We, we remember those names
- 33:25often they're, they're Babylonian names because their
- 33:28Hebrew names were changed. But those are others who just
- 33:33stays strong in their faith. And they were among the, the
- 33:37wisest, not the wisest, the, you know, the fit.
- 33:41They were, I guess they were like the, the best of the best.
- 33:45They were young men that were sought out and trained in
- 33:49Babylonian ways, but they did not give up their belief and
- 33:55faith in God and they stayed strong.
- 33:58And because of their strength and their faith, they actually
- 34:03showed people that God is real. And actually I think Jesus
- 34:07appears to them when they are going to be burned at one point.
- 34:11But they stayed strong and they were rescued out of this burning
- 34:16incinerator and they didn't even smell like smoke when they came
- 34:20out. So it's just like a huge miracle
- 34:22that that God did because of their faith.
- 34:26So we'll read about that in the future.
- 34:27But Babylon to destroy. And then after Babylon, Assyria
- 34:34apparently came again. Or if this is the future time.
- 34:39And I just wonder like, will this, this final entity be from
- 34:45the land of a Syria that comes against Israel?
- 34:48And Assyria is kind of made-up of, of it's not just Syria, but
- 34:52Syria, Turkey, Iraq, and a portion of Iran are all part of
- 34:59what the land that was called Assyria back in this time, the
- 35:03ancient land. So I believe that God will use
- 35:07those countries against Israel and he has and, but he still
- 35:13will not let Israel be destroyed.
- 35:15And then when we get to this Millennium reign of Christ, when
- 35:19Jesus is ruling on earth, that is this time, I think of
- 35:23restoration, where again Israel will be given the opportunity
- 35:27again to be as numerous as the stars in the sky and as numerous
- 35:33as the sand on the seashore. I think that's kind of the
- 35:36purpose and of the Millennium, like the next thousand years
- 35:40after Jesus starts raining, he gives Israel this opportunity to
- 35:45repopulate and to have more offspring.
- 35:50And these are the holy ones of Israel, the survivors of the
- 35:54wrath because they will have the wrath of God and the wrath of
- 35:57God apparently comes through his his his enemies, like he uses
- 36:03the enemy's desires again, their free will to accomplish his
- 36:07purpose. So very interesting to to read
- 36:12scripture and to learn from it. So hope you subscribe and come
- 36:17back because every day I try to do a different chapter and talk
- 36:22about the things, the insight that I've learned from others
- 36:24and from the study Bible and hopefully it it opens all of our
- 36:29eyes. And sometimes we, I have new
- 36:33thoughts that come to mind that relate to scripture, that my
- 36:37eyes are opened in another way when doing this.
- 36:40And, and I hope that this does the same for you and that it it
- 36:46just encourages your faith and it helps you remain close to
- 36:51God.
