- 3:30Speaker 5: Humane Association. I do want to spend some time talking
- 3:34Speaker 5: about high school football tonight. Uh oh, there's a problem.
- 3:37Speaker 5: There is no high school football tonight. Chris Lawrence, who
- 3:40Speaker 5: normally would be rare and rre to go to cover
- 3:43Speaker 5: the hurricane Hurricane. Did I just say hurricane? I live
- 3:47Speaker 5: in Hurricane and I just called it hurricane. Chris Lawrence
- 3:50Speaker 5: is here. Good morning, sir, Good morning.
- 3:51Speaker 7: How are you.
- 3:52Speaker 5: I'm doing fine, And other than the fact I can't
- 3:54Speaker 5: apparently pronounce the town that I live in and Tom Bragg,
- 3:58Speaker 5: who would be doing the Herbert Hoover game tonight, is here.
- 4:01Speaker 5: How are you, sir? Good morning Dave. All right, So
- 4:03Speaker 5: what are you guys gonna do tonight? You're just gonna
- 4:05Speaker 5: hang out?
- 4:05Speaker 7: Or I think I'm gonna take my wife to dinner
- 4:09Speaker 7: for the first time this fall, Son first Friday night
- 4:12Speaker 7: free in a while, KFC here, come to Lawrence. Now,
- 4:17Speaker 7: that's actually that's actually a Thursday night tradition there.
- 4:20Speaker 5: So all right, I got you. I guess what about you, Tom?
- 4:22Speaker 8: I might watch the Tyson fight tonight, so okay, And
- 4:26Speaker 8: it was as a spectacle not to watch it for
- 4:28Speaker 8: the boxing, because I'm I.
- 4:30Speaker 5: Was a big boxing fan growing up. I just kind
- 4:31Speaker 5: of got out of it at one point. And this
- 4:33Speaker 5: logan Paul, I mean, I guess he's a YouTube guy
- 4:36Speaker 5: or something.
- 4:37Speaker 8: I guess some sort of internet celebrity, social media personality.
- 4:41Speaker 7: He's been a bit of everywhere. He didn't really fit
- 4:43Speaker 7: the mold of a YouTube guy. When I heard that,
- 4:45Speaker 7: I was like, that guy's a YouTube.
- 4:47Speaker 5: He looks like somebody. He looked like a two year
- 4:49Speaker 5: old just took a marker all over himself, you know.
- 4:51Speaker 5: And uh, but but anyway, what's gonna happen in the
- 4:55Speaker 5: fight tonight? Guys? I don't know Mike.
- 4:58Speaker 8: Tyson's an old man now, but watching some of those
- 5:01Speaker 8: training videos, I wouldn't want to get hit by him
- 5:03Speaker 8: right now.
- 5:03Speaker 7: Yeah, I was saying the same thing. Jev and I
- 5:05Speaker 7: were talking about that in the morning News. I didn't
- 5:08Speaker 7: really when I heard that Card, I was like, well,
- 5:11Speaker 7: Tyson's gonna walk away with that thing. He'll knock him
- 5:13Speaker 7: out one round. It didn't really dawn him until I
- 5:15Speaker 7: heard Weekly breaking it down with his fight guy yesterday
- 5:19Speaker 7: that Tyson's fifty eight. I was like, well, okay, that
- 5:21Speaker 7: does make a difference because I'm fifty six and I
- 5:24Speaker 7: ain't what I was in the eighties. But Tyson's a
- 5:27Speaker 7: different deal man. He's still he's still ripped, and he's.
- 5:31Speaker 5: As good as he once was once. Yeah, and he's
- 5:35Speaker 5: an actual crazy person. I would get in the ring he.
- 5:37Speaker 9: Is, you know.
- 5:38Speaker 5: Yeah, all right, let's talk high school football. We have
- 5:41Speaker 5: no playoff action, and I have had Fred on every
- 5:44Speaker 5: day this week and in the nine to fifty slots
- 5:46Speaker 5: talk about it. He is not a toty mistake. Could
- 5:49Speaker 5: have the day off. Then I find out he's on Hopy.
- 5:51Speaker 5: You know, it's gooding up this morning. So anything new
- 5:54Speaker 5: in the last twenty four hours, Chris, I'll start with you.
- 5:56Speaker 7: Well, they they have submitted the case to the Supreme Court.
- 6:00Speaker 7: The SSAC has appealed the two competing injunctions from Wood
- 6:05Speaker 7: and Mason Counties, and then they folded in. Fred told
- 6:07Speaker 7: me this morning that they had added the one from
- 6:10Speaker 7: Berkeley County that restored the winds of spring Mills, which
- 6:15Speaker 7: all have an impact on what the final standings will be.
- 6:18Speaker 7: And I guess at this point it comes down. It
- 6:21Speaker 7: boils down to the the SSAC needs to be told
- 6:26Speaker 7: by the Supreme Court which set of rankings they need
- 6:30Speaker 7: to use to set the playoffs. The ones that were
- 6:32Speaker 7: set at the beginning of the season are the ones
- 6:35Speaker 7: that were set by the Wood County judges ruling at
- 6:38Speaker 7: the end of the season, and that will determine, hopefully
- 6:43Speaker 7: the end of this. And I guess they'll have to
- 6:45Speaker 7: figure out did spring Mills play an ineligible player or
- 6:51Speaker 7: as the lower court judge ruled, sided with the spring
- 6:55Speaker 7: Mills people, that this this guy that was in it
- 6:59Speaker 7: was declared in l but the SSAC should have been
- 7:03Speaker 7: eligible because he was a homeless person and there was
- 7:06Speaker 7: an act that a federal law that says you have
- 7:08Speaker 7: to remove barriers for homeless kids to get an educational
- 7:13Speaker 7: opportunity and that includes extra curricular So that's what they
- 7:16Speaker 7: were standing on, which, uh, and I guess that's just
- 7:19Speaker 7: a judgment call.
- 7:20Speaker 10: And if.
- 7:22Speaker 7: Spring Mills, if the appeal is not granted and the
- 7:26Speaker 7: lower court's ruling is upheld, the spring Mills will be
- 7:29Speaker 7: nine and one, and that will change the Quad A
- 7:31Speaker 7: standings and the Quad A postseason schedule. Everybody will have
- 7:35Speaker 7: a different team they're gonna have to play even from
- 7:37Speaker 7: the first two the first two sets of regulation or
- 7:41Speaker 7: of A pairings. So hopefully, and I don't think there's
- 7:45Speaker 7: any anything been said yet, but hopefully we'll get a
- 7:47Speaker 7: ruling on that sometime today. And if that's the case,
- 7:51Speaker 7: we'll have some we'll have some predictability about what's going
- 7:54Speaker 7: to happen, and we can get ready to play next weekend.
- 7:57Speaker 5: So, Tom, how do you fix this a time machine?
- 8:01Speaker 8: I think you go back, and I think the first
- 8:03Speaker 8: little domino is several years ago when the powers that
- 8:07Speaker 8: be sort of cave to the people that were complaining
- 8:08Speaker 8: about the Catholic schools or went in too many basketball tournaments.
- 8:11Speaker 8: We got to go to four classes. We got to
- 8:12Speaker 8: give these smaller schools a chance, and basketball worked. It
- 8:16Speaker 8: wasn't ideal, but it worked with four classes in the
- 8:19Speaker 8: time period they did it. I think football and some
- 8:21Speaker 8: of the other sports could have even worked in the
- 8:23Speaker 8: expanding classes. But the big mistake this year, I think
- 8:26Speaker 8: was back in August when they moved everybody around right
- 8:28Speaker 8: before the season started. Schedules were already made, and you
- 8:31Speaker 8: run into this problem with bonus points. Teams are coming
- 8:33Speaker 8: down from Quada into Triple A. The MSAC is full
- 8:36Speaker 8: of those. If you Huntingdon High or Hurricane as an example,
- 8:39Speaker 8: you've got Capital in your schedule, they went down. You've
- 8:41Speaker 8: got South Charleston on your schedule. Well they went down
- 8:44Speaker 8: and the points just aren't there. That's really where they
- 8:47Speaker 8: messed this up. My time machine would go back to
- 8:48Speaker 8: August and just say, just get through this season. Maybe
- 8:51Speaker 8: we can figure it out at the end. And it
- 8:54Speaker 8: wasn't like people didn't see this coming in August when
- 8:56Speaker 8: they made this change. It's been kind of the talk
- 8:58Speaker 8: throughout the season. It's like, oh, well, we might get
- 9:01Speaker 8: through the regular season, but the playoffs are going to
- 9:02Speaker 8: be a mess, and and here we are in the
- 9:04Speaker 8: playoffs are a mess.
- 9:05Speaker 5: Indeed they are.
- 9:06Speaker 11: Can I interject here?
- 9:07Speaker 5: Yeah, Matt Murphy here.
- 9:09Speaker 11: Tom brag just made a really good point. Here's kind
- 9:11Speaker 11: of my issue with all of this, though, all these
- 9:13Speaker 11: folks that filed these injunctions, why didn't they do this
- 9:16Speaker 11: back in August when they first decided that they were
- 9:19Speaker 11: going to change the points system.
- 9:20Speaker 5: And the classes, and because many of them didn't realize
- 9:22Speaker 5: they were going to be out of the playoffs.
- 9:24Speaker 10: Well see I butN.
- 9:24Speaker 11: That's the thing. It's like you get to the end
- 9:27Speaker 11: of the season and you're like, oh, well we could
- 9:29Speaker 11: maybe be in there. We're going to take this to
- 9:31Speaker 11: the court. You know, hindsight is twenty twenty. Why didn't
- 9:35Speaker 11: they If they had an issue with that, they should
- 9:37Speaker 11: have done it from the very beginning.
- 9:39Speaker 5: In my opinion, yeah, I would one agree that we
- 9:42Speaker 5: are doing though high school game night tonight. I told
- 9:45Speaker 5: Fred yesterday, they're going to go back in the time
- 9:47Speaker 5: machine this week in nineteen seventy eight in the playoffs.
- 9:50Speaker 5: That's what they're going to do, and that's what they're
- 9:52Speaker 5: going to do tonight, but that's going to air with
- 9:53Speaker 5: Fred and Dave at seven thirty to night. We had
- 9:56Speaker 5: a tech I mean, I'm sorry, nine to thirty. We
- 9:58Speaker 5: have a text here and said, is anyone going to
- 9:59Speaker 5: BROADCA has the high school playoff games tomorrow radio or television?
- 10:02Speaker 5: I mean, well, we're not.
- 10:06Speaker 7: I gave it some thought, but we have Mountaineer coverage
- 10:09Speaker 7: on and that would come right in the middle of it.
- 10:11Speaker 7: And it's there's just too many unknowns there. We can't
- 10:15Speaker 7: really plan for that if we are not certain that
- 10:17Speaker 7: they're going to be played exactly. And I'm not certain
- 10:19Speaker 7: that they're going to be played I'm not either, and
- 10:22Speaker 7: and I can't. I can't really commit the station to
- 10:25Speaker 7: something like that when it's potentially gonna get canceled.
- 10:29Speaker 5: Right, and you know, the Mountaineers are going to play
- 10:30Speaker 5: exactly now.
- 10:32Speaker 7: Now, had it had we gone ahead with what we
- 10:34Speaker 7: had last week, yes, we would have moved the Mountaineers
- 10:36Speaker 7: over to another station and we would have put the
- 10:38Speaker 7: Hurricane game on Saturday afternoon on w c CHS. But
- 10:43Speaker 7: that would that would be because we had certainty there
- 10:45Speaker 7: and we have done all those games. This one's just
- 10:48Speaker 7: kind of been sprung on us, and could we do it, probably,
- 10:50Speaker 7: but it would not be easy to manipulate things around
- 10:54Speaker 7: here to get it to that point. And since I
- 10:56Speaker 7: don't have any certainty that we're going to play that game,
- 10:58Speaker 7: I can't.
- 10:59Speaker 5: Well, hopefully by this time next week, when I have
- 11:01Speaker 5: you two here, we'll be talking about what Hoover's going
- 11:04Speaker 5: to be doing and what Hurricane is going to be
- 11:05Speaker 5: doing in the playoffs. That's that's that's all right, Chris.
- 11:08Speaker 5: What do you got on West Virginia out Doors tomorrow one, Well,
- 11:10Speaker 5: it's we're two weeks away from the open buck season.
- 11:12Speaker 5: I'll have on the h the head of the Deer Project,
- 11:16Speaker 5: Brett Skelley from the West Virginia DNR, and we'll pick
- 11:19Speaker 5: his brain about his forecast for the upcoming season. And
- 11:21Speaker 5: I got another cool story about a big buck killed
- 11:24Speaker 5: on public land in Webster County, and it was a
- 11:27Speaker 5: monster buck. And you don't hear about a ton of those.
- 11:30Speaker 5: But there's still some big bucks up in that National
- 11:32Speaker 5: Forest if you're if you get back in there deep enough,
- 11:35Speaker 5: you can find them. So we'll talk about that, all right.
- 11:37Speaker 5: Chris will be listening tomorrow morning. Enjoy you, Enjoy the
- 11:39Speaker 5: dinner with the wife tonight. I we'll do that. Indeed,
- 11:42Speaker 5: all right, Tom sticking, I'll let you hang out with
- 11:44Speaker 5: me a little bit because we're going to try to
- 11:45Speaker 5: give away a dog. Via Dave Alan Show on five
- 11:47Speaker 5: eighty Live is Brown two part by Morgan to Morgan,
- 11:49Speaker 5: America's largest injury law firm. Let's bring in Hannah Gardner
- 11:52Speaker 5: now from the Caneage Charleston, New Maine Association with this
- 11:55Speaker 5: week's Adopt Me Please Pet of the Week. Hannah, Good morning,
- 12:00Speaker 5: Good morning, how are you fine? Ive got Tom Bragg
- 12:03Speaker 5: here with me as well. We are going to tell
- 12:05Speaker 5: you a story of a dog by the name of Barnabas.
- 12:09Speaker 5: And as always, Barnabas or our pet of the week's
- 12:12Speaker 5: picture posted to Dave Allen Radio and Facebook and at
- 12:14Speaker 5: Dave A seventy on Twitter. Tell Tom myself and all
- 12:18Speaker 5: the listeners about Barnabas.
- 12:21Speaker 9: All right, Well, Barnabas is an eleven month old man.
- 12:25Speaker 9: He is very, very very sweet. He's very laid back,
- 12:29Speaker 9: and he does walk well in the leash. From what
- 12:33Speaker 9: we do know, I think that he was a straight
- 12:37Speaker 9: up I think we ended up finding out like stuff
- 12:39Speaker 9: about him and his past and everything. I don't know
- 12:43Speaker 9: if we have like official documents of anything, but we
- 12:47Speaker 9: were told that he has a registered Japanese akita. We
- 12:51Speaker 9: may have those papers, however, I'm not sure if we
- 12:54Speaker 9: actually do or not. I'll have to double check on
- 12:57Speaker 9: that because I'm not exactly sure where that came from.
- 13:01Speaker 9: But I do know that we know who's a Japanese akida.
- 13:05Speaker 9: He is very, very good. He's best with gentler dogs
- 13:09Speaker 9: as friends, as he's not a very hyperactive man himself,
- 13:13Speaker 9: so he likes somebody has a friend who if there's
- 13:16Speaker 9: other animals in the house, who is going to be
- 13:19Speaker 9: more laid back, might play a little bit, but he's
- 13:21Speaker 9: he's laid back himself. Even though he's eleven months old.
- 13:25Speaker 9: He is around fifty eight pounds, and he, like I said,
- 13:30Speaker 9: he prefers comer dogs. But of course we always advos
- 13:33Speaker 9: caution when introducing them to other animals, kids, anything like that,
- 13:39Speaker 9: and we have noticed in our care that he seems
- 13:42Speaker 9: to be okay with kids. However, again, always advised caution.
- 13:47Speaker 9: I always say that you should be able to teach
- 13:49Speaker 9: your kids man It's just the same as you should
- 13:51Speaker 9: be able to teach your dogs manners. Vice versa. So
- 13:55Speaker 9: just definitely be cautious of that, regardless of who you're
- 13:58Speaker 9: introducing them to. Very very good boy, and he's not
- 14:01Speaker 9: fixed yet, but he will be. So if you come
- 14:04Speaker 9: to adopt, or if you come to foster, or however
- 14:06Speaker 9: you come up to see any of the dogs, then
- 14:10Speaker 9: come on up and take him out for a walk
- 14:13Speaker 9: or anything like that and take him home because he
- 14:15Speaker 9: is a good, good boy.
- 14:16Speaker 5: He's a good looking dog.
- 14:17Speaker 8: Tom Oh, Yeah, Barnabas is a great looking dog and
- 14:20Speaker 8: a great name too. I love that name, Barne.
- 14:23Speaker 5: I want to talk a little bit about that breed
- 14:26Speaker 5: because I was talking to Leah of who's my office
- 14:28Speaker 5: made upstairs, and Lee and I were talking about the
- 14:30Speaker 5: Japanese Akida. We're not trying to scare people away from
- 14:33Speaker 5: those dogs, but they are. And I don't know a
- 14:34Speaker 5: whole lot about him. It's a specific kind of person
- 14:37Speaker 5: that can have those dogs. I mean, because they have
- 14:39Speaker 5: a a little bit of a different temperament from what
- 14:42Speaker 5: I understand. Hannah, you're the expert, but they have a
- 14:44Speaker 5: little bit of a different temperament than what the average
- 14:46Speaker 5: dog does.
- 14:46Speaker 9: Is that right, Yes, they very much do. I encourage
- 14:49Speaker 9: anyone who wants to come and visit with him or
- 14:52Speaker 9: even ask questions about him. To do your research before
- 14:57Speaker 9: you come up and look at him or adopt him
- 15:00Speaker 9: or anything like that, because you definitely got to know
- 15:04Speaker 9: your breeds, especially when they are bigger breeds like that
- 15:08Speaker 9: that need more energy, need more attention, need more care,
- 15:11Speaker 9: stuff like that. So definitely do your research before you
- 15:13Speaker 9: come up. I personally am not the best person to
- 15:16Speaker 9: ask about Akida's because I personally do not know much
- 15:20Speaker 9: about them. But we do have an animal behaviorist up
- 15:22Speaker 9: at the shelter. Her name is Julie, who would be
- 15:25Speaker 9: more than willing and more than happy to give you
- 15:27Speaker 9: any information that she does know and any handouts their

- 15:35Speaker 5: So again, you can go over to my Facebook page
- 15:37Speaker 5: Dave Allen Radio or at Dave Seviti on X and
- 15:39Speaker 5: check out the picture of Barnabas. I know we're running
- 15:42Speaker 5: short on time here. I did want to bring up
- 15:44Speaker 5: the number of animals that you have there are good friends.
- 15:46Speaker 5: I think over WWK thirteen to a story on it.
- 15:49Speaker 5: You guys are just absolutely Hannah just overloaded with animals
- 15:54Speaker 5: right now.
- 15:56Speaker 9: Yes, we absolutely are. I believe we have close to
- 16:01Speaker 9: or at four hundred animals and our care that is
- 16:04Speaker 9: in our shelter, in foster home all together, like that
- 16:08Speaker 9: is everything.
- 16:09Speaker 12: It is a.
- 16:10Speaker 9: Lot because a lot of people don't think that we
- 16:13Speaker 9: also provide the care for foster animals. A lot of
- 16:15Speaker 9: people think that they get that on their own. But
- 16:18Speaker 9: we do provide the care for the foster animals. So
- 16:21Speaker 9: it's they might be in a home, but we're still
- 16:23Speaker 9: providing that care and the food and anything that they
- 16:25Speaker 9: may need. So definitely come up if you want to foster,
- 16:29Speaker 9: adopt anything like that. I encourage it. I also encourage
- 16:31Speaker 9: you to come on out and volunteer because we act
- 16:35Speaker 9: really really need the help right now. And then of
- 16:37Speaker 9: course we are still rocking with our veterans say Special,
- 16:40Speaker 9: So eleven dollars for dogs over six months old or
- 16:44Speaker 9: free if you have your military idea and can show
- 16:46Speaker 9: that to us.
- 16:47Speaker 5: All right, And I was about to mention that, but
- 16:49Speaker 5: you jumped ahead of me, and that's good because I
- 16:51Speaker 5: appreciate you mentioned that. Because we're a little bit short
- 16:54Speaker 5: on time that veteran stay Special is going to end.
- 16:57Speaker 5: When did you say it ended?
- 17:00Speaker 9: I think today, I think that's.
- 17:02Speaker 5: What I thought, all right, And there's more information available
- 17:04Speaker 5: on your social media. Hannah. We'll talk to you next week.
- 17:06Speaker 5: Thanks a lot, all right, thank you, Uh Hannah Gardener

- 17:15Speaker 8: Japanese Akidas are beautiful dogs, but like you said, the
- 17:17Speaker 8: would absolutely do your research. Their a particular breed. You
- 17:20Speaker 8: got to know what you're dealing with. Not bad breed necessarily.
- 17:23Speaker 8: They're just a little bit different. Yeah, just a little
- 17:24Speaker 8: bit different than than your West Virginia brown dog exactly.
- 17:28Speaker 5: Barnabas is the dog's name. He is eleven months old.
- 17:31Speaker 5: He is housebroken, registered Japanese Akda, very laid back, loves
- 17:35Speaker 5: other general dogs. Please do your research. Those we've been
- 17:38Speaker 5: saying walks well on a leash, not fixed, but we'll

- 17:48Speaker 5: Tom Tex says it was premature to go to court
- 17:52Speaker 5: over the playoff issue. Courts can't make decisions on issues
- 17:54Speaker 5: that may happen. The schools couldn't make any claim that
- 17:58Speaker 5: their seating was incorrect until the playoff schedule was known. Otherwise,
- 18:01Speaker 5: you're asking the court to decide something that may never happen.
- 18:05Speaker 8: I suppose, but they just again my time machine theory, though,
- 18:09Speaker 8: Let's just go back and not make any of the
- 18:11Speaker 8: changes in August and I think we're fine. I think
- 18:13Speaker 8: we're playing games tonight.
- 18:14Speaker 5: Well, hopefully we're going to be playing games next week
- 18:17Speaker 5: in front of the Supreme Court, and.
- 18:18Speaker 8: So hopefully and at this point, yeah, I just hope
- 18:21Speaker 8: that we're playing games this time next week.
- 18:23Speaker 5: Let's just get it done, guys. I hope we don't
- 18:25Speaker 5: just have you and Chris in here talking about well

- 22:11Speaker 5: mister Reel and I get together, there's always fun and
- 22:14Speaker 5: hilarity to ensue. So we'll talk to Rob a little
- 22:18Speaker 5: bit later on. Speaking of fun, Doctor Casey sachs Bridge
- 22:20Speaker 5: Valley's here. How are you, Good morning, Dave.
- 22:22Speaker 13: Great to see you.
- 22:23Speaker 5: I'm wonderful, welcome to our new studio.
- 22:25Speaker 13: It's nice, Digs.
- 22:26Speaker 5: I keep throwing this out every time. I even said
- 22:29Speaker 5: this to Shelley Moore Capita the other day. I said,
- 22:31Speaker 5: you know, it's kind of custom when you go to
- 22:33Speaker 5: somebody's new home that you bring a gift, you know,
- 22:36Speaker 5: like a fruit basket, bottle of wine.
- 22:37Speaker 12: I never drink the coffee I bring it.
- 22:40Speaker 5: Yes, I do. Of course I drink the But of
- 22:42Speaker 5: course I drink the coffee. I've never turned down coffee
- 22:44Speaker 5: in my life. Are you kidding me? But hopefully somebody
- 22:47Speaker 5: will eventually bring us a gift. You're looking for flowers,
- 22:50Speaker 5: how about a box of wine? Just just a box
- 22:52Speaker 5: of wine, flowers, flowers will So tonight big night at
- 22:58Speaker 5: the Bridge Valley doing purse raffle, Purse purse raffle.
- 23:02Speaker 13: Are you coming?
- 23:03Speaker 5: Possibly crazy? You never know where I'll show up? Well,
- 23:06Speaker 5: is there food?
- 23:07Speaker 13: There will be food?
- 23:08Speaker 5: Got food?
- 23:08Speaker 7: You got it?
- 23:09Speaker 12: Looks like heavy Appetizers and Alcohol.
- 23:12Speaker 5: Actually that was the name of my third album, Heavy
- 23:15Speaker 5: Appetizers and Alcohol. Yeah, that's or maybe that'll be my autobiography.
- 23:18Speaker 13: Sounds like fun.
- 23:19Speaker 5: So what's going on here tonight?
- 23:22Speaker 12: So tonight we're doing a purse raffle for our foundation.
- 23:25Speaker 12: We are raising money for our Student Opportunity Fund. One
- 23:28Speaker 12: of the things that we've seen is that we have
- 23:30Speaker 12: students in the community who could be one flat tire
- 23:33Speaker 12: away from having to drop out of college, and so
- 23:34Speaker 12: it's really important to us that we're able to help
- 23:37Speaker 12: our students who need support for things like flat tires
- 23:40Speaker 12: so that they can stay in school. We know that
- 23:42Speaker 12: that's the best way to help people complete credentials and
- 23:45Speaker 12: then get them into the workforce so that they don't
- 23:47Speaker 12: need a Student Opportunity Fund anymore. And so we're raising
- 23:50Speaker 12: money tonight with a purse raffle. We've gotten fifteen purses
- 23:54Speaker 12: donated to us that are all kinds of things, from
- 23:57Speaker 12: Kate Spade to Valentino to Louis Vuitton on and it
- 24:01Speaker 12: looks like it'll be just a.
- 24:02Speaker 13: Lot of fun.
- 24:03Speaker 5: My wife, by the way, is not going to be
- 24:05Speaker 5: allowed to come. Well, I hope she decides that you're wrong,
- 24:08Speaker 5: Like I could tell my wife what she's going to do. Anyway,
- 24:10Speaker 5: if you know my wife, you'll know that's not gonna happen.
- 24:13Speaker 5: But uh uh, but it does sound like a great time.
- 24:16Speaker 5: Uh and uh uh and and the cause is great.
- 24:19Speaker 5: I mean, you're you know, because I don't think sometimes people,
- 24:21Speaker 5: you know, a lot of the a lot of students
- 24:23Speaker 5: at various universities and the institutions of higher learning have
- 24:27Speaker 5: had to scratch and crawl their way to get there anyway.
- 24:30Speaker 5: And you folks at Bridge Valley, they'll do a great
- 24:32Speaker 5: job in making it possible for pretty much any student
- 24:36Speaker 5: of any age that wants to have an education beyond
- 24:39Speaker 5: high school, uh to get it. But some of these,
- 24:43Speaker 5: some of these folks really really struggle to get there.
- 24:45Speaker 12: Yeah, we've been so fortunate in West Virginia. The state
- 24:48Speaker 12: has some very generous financial aid for community college students.
- 24:52Speaker 12: For a lot of our students, all the tuition and
- 24:54Speaker 12: fees end up being paid and they're just asked to
- 24:56Speaker 12: pay for books, and that's incredibly helpful for so many families.
- 25:00Speaker 12: It means we're very affordable, and that's something we're very
- 25:03Speaker 12: proud of and really want to keep being able to do.
- 25:05Speaker 12: But that doesn't mean that stuff doesn't still happen. And
- 25:08Speaker 12: so if you're working at a hospital full time to
- 25:11Speaker 12: get your clinical hours and going to school full time
- 25:13Speaker 12: and you still have kids and you might be working
- 25:15Speaker 12: the night shift somewhere so that you can feed them,
- 25:18Speaker 12: I mean, emergencies happen, and we've all been there, and
- 25:21Speaker 12: so it's just really great to see our community rally
- 25:24Speaker 12: around students and really want to do everything they can
- 25:26Speaker 12: to help keep them in school.
- 25:27Speaker 5: We're talking with the doctor Casey Sacksvibridge Valley. What else
- 25:30Speaker 5: is new?
- 25:31Speaker 13: Oh my gosh, so many things are new.
- 25:33Speaker 12: I think the fun stuff that's going on right now
- 25:35Speaker 12: is that we're just getting geared up for grant season,
- 25:38Speaker 12: so different deans are working there.
- 25:40Speaker 5: When you said grant season, I've just had the same
- 25:42Speaker 5: age of Elmer Fudd wabbit season.
- 25:44Speaker 13: Yeah, it's a lot like hunting seas but for money.
- 25:47Speaker 5: Well without all the camo.
- 25:48Speaker 13: And deer p I mean we could wear camo.
- 25:50Speaker 5: Okay, I've got my orange vest. It is West Virginia, right,
- 25:53Speaker 5: it is West Virginia, So tell me about grant season.
- 25:55Speaker 12: So grant season it means that all of the different
- 25:57Speaker 12: deans on campus start prioritizing things that would make our
- 26:01Speaker 12: programs better. So, for example, we've been starting a rad
- 26:05Speaker 12: tech program in partnership with the WVU Medicine Thomas Hospitals,
- 26:08Speaker 12: which is a fabulous partnership because the students will be
- 26:11Speaker 12: doing all their rad tech clinical training at the hospital.
- 26:15Speaker 12: So instead of having to buy all the really expensive
- 26:18Speaker 12: X ray equipment, for example, and have it housed then
- 26:20Speaker 12: on campus where it only gets used a few days
- 26:23Speaker 12: a week by students in classes will actually use the
- 26:26Speaker 12: real equipment that they'll be working on once they get
- 26:28Speaker 12: hired by the hospital. So it's terrific in terms of
- 26:31Speaker 12: space use. But we've seen that there are some things
- 26:34Speaker 12: that we want to have. We don't want the first
- 26:36Speaker 12: time they do an X ray to be if you
- 26:38Speaker 12: happen to fall off a ladder and break your leg.
- 26:40Speaker 12: We want them to have that experience up front. Yeah,
- 26:42Speaker 12: so there's some stuff that we've recognized that's expensive and
- 26:45Speaker 12: we want to buy that isn't a regular operating expense.
- 26:48Speaker 13: So that's when we look to grants.
- 26:50Speaker 5: Talking again with doctor Casey Sachsebridge Valley, but Dave allen
- 26:53Speaker 5: Chow and five Ady Lie brought to you a part
- 26:54Speaker 5: by Pinnacle Consultants. Poor indoor air quality can cause a
- 26:57Speaker 5: whole bunch of health issues, including analogy, respiratory problems, and more.
- 27:01Speaker 5: Pinnacle offers specialized indoor air quality services or residential, commercial
- 27:05Speaker 5: and industrial type settings visa Pinnacle Corp dot net. Because
- 27:08Speaker 5: what you don't know can hurt you. And as we
- 27:11Speaker 5: are starting to get into the holiday season, what does
- 27:14Speaker 5: that mean at Bridge Valley.
- 27:15Speaker 12: Well, for us back to student support. One of the
- 27:18Speaker 12: things that we're doing for Thanksgiving, that's one of my
- 27:20Speaker 12: favorite events every year, is we do something that's called
- 27:23Speaker 12: Project Thankful, and so students who have families who need
- 27:26Speaker 12: a little bit of extra support sign up. This year,
- 27:28Speaker 12: we've had thirty seven different families sign up, and then
- 27:31Speaker 12: my team adopts families and we provide all of the
- 27:34Speaker 12: things for a Thanksgiving banquet for those families.
- 27:37Speaker 13: So they buy.
- 27:38Speaker 12: Turkeys and stuffing and potatoes and put together giant baskets
- 27:41Speaker 12: and then give them to the students who have said
- 27:42Speaker 12: that they need a little bit of extra help.
- 27:44Speaker 5: And that's pretty good stuff right there. I mean, and
- 27:46Speaker 5: any of these things that we do, I've talked about
- 27:48Speaker 5: our turkey drop that we're doing next week. None of
- 27:51Speaker 5: these things are possible without input from the community. And
- 27:54Speaker 5: i know you said that your staff kind of helps them,
- 27:56Speaker 5: but I'm sure you would welcome in some outside help
- 27:58Speaker 5: as well.
- 27:58Speaker 12: Talking aboutout that love, really anyone who wants to support students.
- 28:03Speaker 12: We adopt families both at Thanksgiving and at Christmas. The
- 28:06Speaker 12: Christmas drives become really fun because the kids, the little
- 28:11Speaker 12: kids who are family members of our students will make
- 28:15Speaker 12: lists and then you'll get the list of here's what
- 28:17Speaker 12: everybody in the family's hoping for, and I know when
- 28:20Speaker 12: I've shopped for those before. I really like being able
- 28:22Speaker 12: to go to the toy store. I don't have too
- 28:24Speaker 12: many little kids in my life, so it's fun to
- 28:26Speaker 12: get to know what's the latest toy, what does somebody want?
- 28:29Speaker 12: And then it gets delivered and it's anonymous, so I
- 28:31Speaker 12: don't even know the family that I've bought presents for.
- 28:35Speaker 12: But we would love for community members to come in
- 28:37Speaker 12: and sponsors.
- 28:37Speaker 5: Would be a great opportunity for we have a business
- 28:40Speaker 5: out there, it's out there, a church or whatever. I mean,
- 28:42Speaker 5: you're welcome help from all, right.
- 28:44Speaker 12: Absolutely, we love having community support.
- 28:46Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, and the things that you do out
- 28:48Speaker 5: there at Bridge Valley are just amazing for the community.
- 28:50Speaker 5: I mean, obviously you're all about educating minds and we
- 28:54Speaker 5: appreciate that and hopefully getting to stay in West Virginia
- 28:58Speaker 5: because that's one of the big things the valley does,
- 29:01Speaker 5: but also just helping out of the community, whether I mean,
- 29:04Speaker 5: you guys are everywhere, you guys are doing everything.
- 29:07Speaker 12: Really everybody really is trying and I think the idea
- 29:10Speaker 12: for us is it's not just the education, it's tying
- 29:13Speaker 12: the education to a job. And the part of what
- 29:16Speaker 12: helps keep people in West Virginia is that we pay
- 29:18Speaker 12: a lot of attention to what our local employers say
- 29:20Speaker 12: they want, and then we're trying to educate people so
- 29:23Speaker 12: that they're ready for those jobs that actually exist here.
- 29:26Speaker 5: And when they come to you. That's one of the
- 29:28Speaker 5: things is I say, every time you're on here, doctors,
- 29:30Speaker 5: anytime that an employer comes to you, it's kind of
- 29:34Speaker 5: reversed of what it used to be. Now employers are
- 29:36Speaker 5: coming to you and saying, Okay, here's what we need.
- 29:40Speaker 5: We need students, we need people with this skill set.
- 29:44Speaker 5: And then you take your curriculum and you kind of,
- 29:47Speaker 5: in a roundabout way, you just kind of, you know,
- 29:50Speaker 5: design it based on what the employers say that they need.
- 29:53Speaker 12: That's right, And I would tell students the same thing.
- 29:55Speaker 12: I was just talking to a young man in the
- 29:57Speaker 12: green room who was saying he might be ready for retirement.
- 30:00Speaker 12: Could he do some manufacturing in his retirement, And so
- 30:02Speaker 12: I said, start with the employer who you want to
- 30:04Speaker 12: go work with? And he said, what about service Wire?
- 30:06Speaker 12: I said, great, service Wire is a fabulous employer. Go
- 30:09Speaker 12: talk to them at service Wire, figure out what skills
- 30:12Speaker 12: they want you to have, and then come to us
- 30:14Speaker 12: to get those skills, and then you can go do
- 30:16Speaker 12: that job as your retirement job. And he he was like, oh,
- 30:19Speaker 12: that means I would think to go to school first,
- 30:22Speaker 12: and that is where you would get the training. But
- 30:24Speaker 12: you really want to start with the end in mind.
- 30:26Speaker 12: And that's why talking to employers and talking about what
- 30:28Speaker 12: is the job becomes so important.
- 30:30Speaker 5: Well, and in any workplace, the more things you can do,
- 30:33Speaker 5: the more valuable you are. But at that having been said,
- 30:36Speaker 5: you don't want to I don't want to say waste
- 30:38Speaker 5: your time. That's not the correct word, but you don't
- 30:39Speaker 5: want to not spend your time wisely, you know, by
- 30:43Speaker 5: studying or maybe a bunch of things that you really
- 30:46Speaker 5: that's not what that employer needs. You can do that
- 30:48Speaker 5: on your own, but if you're trying to get this job,
- 30:50Speaker 5: this is what they need.
- 30:51Speaker 15: Right.
- 30:51Speaker 12: You're never sorry for knowing something like I love Old
- 30:54Speaker 12: English literature, but I definitely didn't do that in college
- 30:57Speaker 12: because it wouldn't have helped me get a job.
- 30:59Speaker 5: Yeah, exactly, all right, So let's get back to tonight,

- 34:12Speaker 5: to have Delicate Crause on the show, but she has
- 34:13Speaker 5: a particularly amazing story to tell, sort of a project
- 34:17Speaker 5: that she's working on. I'll let her go over all
- 34:19Speaker 5: the details on Monday. But they found a purple heart
- 34:24Speaker 5: in Putnam County. It's a great story and we're hoping
- 34:28Speaker 5: he'll have a happy ending. And I got some information
- 34:31Speaker 5: about earlier this week and immediately reached out to Delicate Crasse.
- 34:34Speaker 5: I said, you got to come on the show and
- 34:35Speaker 5: talk about it. So she's going to be on the
- 34:37Speaker 5: show on Monday. Also, Tony Hodge, who is the vice
- 34:39Speaker 5: chair of the State Republican Party, will be on the
- 34:42Speaker 5: show Monday as well. Rob Reeal from her sister station
- 34:46Speaker 5: ninety six one KWS is here, Sir Roberts, good morning,
- 34:49Speaker 5: Good morning, sir. How are you?
- 34:50Speaker 18: It just dawned on me. I don't know where my
- 34:52Speaker 18: purple heart is.
- 34:54Speaker 5: Well, maybe did you lose it in in a railroad
- 34:57Speaker 5: track in Putnham County, because that's where this was found.
- 34:59Speaker 5: I didn't.
- 35:00Speaker 18: I mean it's boxed somewhere, but I have no idea
- 35:04Speaker 18: where that box is what else might be in that.
- 35:08Speaker 5: Rob, I have a ribbon that I got in the
- 35:11Speaker 5: Social studies fair in fourth grade. Surely, to God, my friend,
- 35:15Speaker 5: you can come up and find out where your purple
- 35:17Speaker 5: heart is. First of all, don't call me surely okay. Yes.
- 35:20Speaker 18: Secondly, without going too deep, too dark, too quickly, the
- 35:27Speaker 18: closing that chapter in my life was very important to
- 35:31Speaker 18: me when I separated from the United States Marine Corps
- 35:34Speaker 18: in nineteen ninety six. That is not to say that
- 35:37Speaker 18: I had a bad experience. My experience was neither good
- 35:41Speaker 18: nor bad. There's nothing either good or bad. Only thinking
- 35:44Speaker 18: makes it so. But at that time in my life,
- 35:46Speaker 18: I very much needed to close that chapter, and so
- 35:50Speaker 18: everything was packed away. The ribbon portion of my purple
- 35:55Speaker 18: heart I know exactly where it is. It is affixed
- 35:58Speaker 18: to the one uniform into which I can still squeeze
- 36:01Speaker 18: because on occasion I will, I will don the dress
- 36:05Speaker 18: blues and participate in some parades and color guard and that,
- 36:10Speaker 18: because that's mostly what I did. Uh. So I know
- 36:12Speaker 18: where the ribbon portion is, but I don't know the
- 36:14Speaker 18: actual purple heart itself, the dangly one. I have no
- 36:18Speaker 18: idea where that is. All right, well, maybe that'll be
- 36:20Speaker 18: your next big walk. You walk to find rob Reel's
- 36:23Speaker 18: Purple Heart walk to the Pentagon.
- 36:25Speaker 5: It's out there. It's out there somewhere, all right. So
- 36:28Speaker 5: speaking of this walk, I wanted to give you a
- 36:30Speaker 5: couple of weeks to kind of catch yourself and make
- 36:32Speaker 5: you make sure that your calves weren't still blazing. So
- 36:36Speaker 5: for those who may not remember, because it was all
- 36:38Speaker 5: of two three weeks ago, and we had an election
- 36:40Speaker 5: since then, and so everything's, you know, been wrapped up
- 36:43Speaker 5: in that. The short term memory of a goldfishes, all right.
- 36:45Speaker 5: So we did our Radiothon for WVU Children's and you
- 36:51Speaker 5: had told our listeners that if they got to a
- 36:53Speaker 5: certain level, because we were a little bit lagging a
- 36:56Speaker 5: little bit.
- 36:56Speaker 18: Behind, you're being kind. I shot my mouth off because
- 36:59Speaker 18: because I was little, it was cranky. The second morning
- 37:03Speaker 18: of our of our cares for Kids Radiothon, it was
- 37:08Speaker 18: cold up in the Hosteler Center, that's the tenth floor
- 37:10Speaker 18: of WVU Medicine Children's. I had not had ample caffeine yet,
- 37:14Speaker 18: I had not slept in my own bed because sting
- 37:15Speaker 18: in Morgantown to do the radiothon, and I just I
- 37:18Speaker 18: looked at the day one numbers and for I don't.
- 37:21Speaker 5: Know what possessed me, but I was. I was a
- 37:23Speaker 5: little fired up about it.
- 37:24Speaker 18: And I'm like, y'all, if you come through and you
- 37:27Speaker 18: beat last year's total, because we're always trying to do better,
- 37:29Speaker 18: sure to be last year's total. I will walk the
- 37:32Speaker 18: check from the Charleston office to Morgantown. I will walk
- 37:36Speaker 18: it back here. And I am I am pleasantly. I
- 37:41Speaker 18: am humbled but not surprised that West Virginians came through
- 37:44Speaker 18: once again for kids here and smashed last year's total.
- 37:49Speaker 18: And so if nothing else, I'm a man of my word.
- 37:51Speaker 18: My integrity means everything. I so respect the people who
- 37:55Speaker 18: may have even been digging in their couch cushions and
- 37:57Speaker 18: their cup holders to make those donations because come superstar
- 38:00Speaker 18: miracle makers.
- 38:01Speaker 5: That I wanted to keep my word.
- 38:03Speaker 18: And so I walked my happy self one hundred and
- 38:06Speaker 18: seventy two miles from here to eleven eleven Virginia Street
- 38:09Speaker 18: East to one Medical Plaza in Morgantown.
- 38:12Speaker 5: And I checked in with you on the show every day.
- 38:14Speaker 5: You were blessed, my friend, by fantastic weather and all
- 38:18Speaker 5: of Autumn's finery in West Virginia Mountain Mama showed off.
- 38:22Speaker 5: She gave me great weather the entire two weeks. Too hot,
- 38:25Speaker 5: not too cold. I think you said you had a
- 38:27Speaker 5: couple of rain drops, maybe like for an hour or so,
- 38:29Speaker 5: even like six rain drops.
- 38:30Speaker 18: Yeah, and I you know, hyperbole is the best thing ever,
- 38:33Speaker 18: but I'm not exaggerating by much.
- 38:35Speaker 5: There was.
- 38:36Speaker 18: There was one day where it was like drip and I,
- 38:38Speaker 18: you know, walk another one hundred yards, drip, walk another.
- 38:42Speaker 5: Hunt and that was it.
- 38:44Speaker 18: Most days temperatures were either in the seventies or the
- 38:47Speaker 18: low eighties. Very comfortable, specially dressing in layers. The colors
- 38:51Speaker 18: were absolutely gorgeous. If you want to go back and
- 38:54Speaker 18: just see that, even if you don't want to recap
- 38:56Speaker 18: the whole journey, the ninety six to one KWS facebook
- 38:59Speaker 18: page or Instagram, you can just see.
- 39:01Speaker 5: Some of the things I got to see.
- 39:03Speaker 18: And fall has fallen on us now, not that I'm
- 39:06Speaker 18: complaining about, you know, leftover showers in fifty seven today,
- 39:10Speaker 18: but that's what it's supposed to be. In mid November
- 39:14Speaker 18: and the last two weeks of October, I got the
- 39:17Speaker 18: classic Are we still allowed to call it Indian summer?
- 39:19Speaker 18: I don't care the language police wants to come after me.
- 39:21Speaker 18: It's Indian summer whatever. I think it's indigen in summer now.
- 39:26Speaker 5: Yes, first people's summer. I don't know. I'm not mocking
- 39:29Speaker 5: political correctness.
- 39:30Speaker 18: It's I learned certain things, certain ways, and I don't
- 39:33Speaker 18: want to change. Just it was gorgeous weather, a wonderful
- 39:38Speaker 18: reception when I got there on Halloween afternoon. This may
- 39:42Speaker 18: seem silly after walking one hundred and seventy two miles.
- 39:44Speaker 18: What did you do when you got to the hospital, Rob,
- 39:46Speaker 18: I went on the staff costume parade with reverse trigger
- 39:51Speaker 18: treating with the kids. Since many of them can't get
- 39:53Speaker 18: up and get out of their beds, we would go
- 39:55Speaker 18: to them and so we brought little trinkets and toys
- 39:58Speaker 18: and showed off our costumes and had some fun. So, yeah,
- 40:00Speaker 18: after walking one hundred and seventy two miles, what did
- 40:02Speaker 18: I do?
- 40:02Speaker 5: I want some more? I mean, what's another you know floor?
- 40:05Speaker 5: What's another floor?
- 40:06Speaker 9: Yeah?
- 40:07Speaker 5: Yeah, especially Rob, when you could and look, you and
- 40:11Speaker 5: I are great friends, but you know one, what you
- 40:15Speaker 5: did was miraculous. But let's be honest. What those kids
- 40:20Speaker 5: are doing puts what you did to Shane's and I
- 40:23Speaker 5: know that you will admit that.
- 40:24Speaker 18: Yeah, oh, I'm the first to say that while I
- 40:26Speaker 18: did a thing that is extraordinary and that not many
- 40:30Speaker 18: folks could, would or should do that sort of thing,
- 40:33Speaker 18: it pales in comparison to what those kids are going through,
- 40:37Speaker 18: what their parents are going through, and what the staff
- 40:41Speaker 18: at WVU Medicine Children's does every day putting their their
- 40:44Speaker 18: hearts on the line for these kids.
- 40:47Speaker 5: So I was.
- 40:50Speaker 18: For as tough as it may have been, I think
- 40:52Speaker 18: I was the one most blessed by what I got
- 40:55Speaker 18: to do. And anytime it got hard, that two hundred
- 40:59Speaker 18: yards wretch of overhill if you know downtown Morgantown, if
- 41:02Speaker 18: you know Campus, you know exactly what I'm talking about.
- 41:05Speaker 18: On it it's straight up for two hundred yards, And
- 41:09Speaker 18: as difficult as that may have been, the thing, it's
- 41:11Speaker 18: it's nothing compared to, you know, like a six year
- 41:13Speaker 18: old going through chemotherapy and eight year old having to
- 41:16Speaker 18: be on a Berlin heart because you know, through just
- 41:20Speaker 18: the way the dice rolled some weird genetic defect. You know,
- 41:24Speaker 18: I I bristle it the word miraculous, I recoil from
- 41:28Speaker 18: it because I'm just to do with a big mouth
- 41:31Speaker 18: and a big microphone who gets to shout about the
- 41:33Speaker 18: big things they do every day At WVU Medicine Children's
- 41:37Speaker 18: I'm so, I'm talking to Robria from a sister station
- 41:39Speaker 18: ninety six one KWS. The Dave Allen Showing five. Anie
- 41:41Speaker 18: Live is brought to part by Live Healthy West Virginia.

- 41:58Speaker 18: By the way, in your absence while you were gone
- 42:02Speaker 18: for that, you know that a couple of weeks whatever,
- 42:03Speaker 18: we we were planning what we're going to have you
- 42:05Speaker 18: do next year. Just so you know, we had an
- 42:08Speaker 18: informal meeting. Uh, you weren't invited, uh, And and myself
- 42:13Speaker 18: and Crash for ninety six one KWS and Ashley and
- 42:16Speaker 18: so we sat around and we said what can we
- 42:18Speaker 18: make him do next year?
- 42:20Speaker 5: And so you with me, I was married to somebody
- 42:23Speaker 5: who had that. And with you and I, you know,
- 42:27Speaker 5: we were always like kind of me and you and
- 42:29Speaker 5: animal are always kind of going at each other on
- 42:30Speaker 5: different things whatever, and uh uh, you know, I got
- 42:33Speaker 5: all kinds of plans for you next year.
- 42:35Speaker 18: So let's talk about meetings for a second. Okay, a
- 42:38Speaker 18: long time ago to radio station far far away. Actually,
- 42:40Speaker 18: at several of them, I have been in management, and
- 42:43Speaker 18: a couple of places I have been the very tip
- 42:45Speaker 18: top of management, where the irony of that is I
- 42:48Speaker 18: abhorror meetings. And so not only was I having to
- 42:52Speaker 18: do all the meetings, but they were my meetings most
- 42:55Speaker 18: of the time. So one of the one of the
- 42:57Speaker 18: great things about where you and I are here at
- 42:59Speaker 18: WVRC meeting is we don't end up in a lot
- 43:01Speaker 18: of meetings, and the few meetings we end up in
- 43:03Speaker 18: are very informal.
- 43:04Speaker 5: And impromptu sometimes.
- 43:06Speaker 18: And one of them was yesterday. It was we got
- 43:09Speaker 18: to talking about Christmas parades, all the holiday stuff coming
- 43:12Speaker 18: up and kind of organizing a battle plan, and I
- 43:16Speaker 18: particularly enjoyed we talked about the Ripley Christmas Parade, and
- 43:21Speaker 18: I've not done that one before. I did not do
- 43:24Speaker 18: that one last year. I did not do it the
- 43:25Speaker 18: first time I was here. So you were kind of
- 43:28Speaker 18: filling me and crash in on the layout of the
- 43:32Speaker 18: Ripley Christmas Parade, and he says to me, it looks right.
- 43:37Speaker 18: It says, well, you know we started the Krogers. Is
- 43:40Speaker 18: we started at the Krogers and we end up the
- 43:42Speaker 18: high school? Or is it the other way around?
- 43:43Speaker 5: The way around? That's why it was okay, Yeah.
- 43:45Speaker 18: So start at the high school and then you get
- 43:47Speaker 18: to town and you end up at the Krogers. As
- 43:49Speaker 18: if we say back home, and he looks right at me,
- 43:51Speaker 18: he says, I don't know, it's you know, it's about
- 43:53Speaker 18: a mile from the high school before you ever get
- 43:54Speaker 18: to the main road. He says to the guy who
- 43:57Speaker 18: just walked one hundred and seventy two miles.
- 43:59Speaker 5: I'm mainly known for my looks and not not for
- 44:03Speaker 5: my intelligence, and I'm not known for that either, so
- 44:06Speaker 5: pretty bless. Yeah, I was thinking about it. I actually
- 44:09Speaker 5: talked to Mayor Raider, who's one of my favorite mayors
- 44:11Speaker 5: in the world of I got to know her when
- 44:13Speaker 5: I work for in state government. And Mayor Carolyn Raider,
- 44:15Speaker 5: she's been on the show in the past week. I
- 44:16Speaker 5: actually talked to her before the show this morning, and
- 44:18Speaker 5: she's opening up with open arms for us uh to
- 44:22Speaker 5: come up there. And but but it's good because I
- 44:25Speaker 5: have open mouth. Yes, yes you do, as we've already proven.
- 44:28Speaker 5: So it's the route's actually going to be, she tells me,
- 44:31Speaker 5: a little bit different. It's going to be a little
- 44:32Speaker 5: bit shorter this year. Yeah, because make we would want
- 44:36Speaker 5: you to walk, you know, anymore than once you have
- 44:38Speaker 5: to do. But we're looking forward to being a lot
- 44:39Speaker 5: of these Christmas parades. I know, off the top of
- 44:41Speaker 5: my head, I know we're doing Charleston, We're doing Saint Albans,
- 44:44Speaker 5: We're doing Dunbar, We're doing Winfield, We're doing Hurricane uhle
- 44:48Speaker 5: South Charles, please South Charleston.
- 44:50Speaker 12: Uh.
- 44:51Speaker 5: And it will be a combination of myself of you know,
- 44:54Speaker 5: Matt Murphy will be involved, Animal will be involved. Wood
- 44:58Speaker 5: he will be and so Stephen Jenny will be in
- 45:00Speaker 5: some Logan will be in. So so we're going to
- 45:01Speaker 5: be all over with either.
- 45:04Speaker 18: We love we love doing this, by the way, there,
- 45:06Speaker 18: I love it as as great as these palatial new
- 45:09Speaker 18: studios are. And I hear that y'all might be moving
- 45:14Speaker 18: back across the breezeway here before too long. And the
- 45:17Speaker 18: new digs and then I think I'll be in here
- 45:19Speaker 18: or or where Matt Guitar Murphy is for a while
- 45:22Speaker 18: when they redo mine. As much as we love these
- 45:26Speaker 18: new studios, we love being out gripping and grin and
- 45:29Speaker 18: kissing hands and shaking babies.
- 45:30Speaker 5: I think that's how that goes with folks.
- 45:35Speaker 18: If we wanted to hide in the studio and not
- 45:37Speaker 18: do nothing and just fouring out the door, we would
- 45:41Speaker 18: have done something else.
- 45:42Speaker 5: Yeah, we love doing this well and sometimes and I've
- 45:44Speaker 5: been doing this for thirty six years. You've been doing
- 45:46Speaker 5: it for around learn around that time. You you you
- 45:50Speaker 5: sit inside a box and you talk and you don't
- 45:53Speaker 5: see anyone other than I have the man in the box. Well,
- 45:57Speaker 5: I have the luxury of having more guests than what
- 46:00Speaker 5: do you guys? You have a lot, but I normally
- 46:02Speaker 5: have two or three a show, and so I get
- 46:03Speaker 5: to interact with people. But you forget there are people
- 46:06Speaker 5: actually listening to this thing.
- 46:08Speaker 18: Yes, you know, Yeah, I'm lucky to have two or
- 46:09Speaker 18: three a month. Ben Selango was in this morning. We
- 46:12Speaker 18: talked about Selango Law Last the Night, which is beautiful.
- 46:14Speaker 5: By the way, I'm going to talk about that as
- 46:16Speaker 5: a matter of fact with you because I know you
- 46:17Speaker 5: were there.
- 46:18Speaker 18: Yeah, I snuck my way into the VI preview, and
- 46:23Speaker 18: I don't know that I'm all that important, but I
- 46:24Speaker 18: got to go in and look around and see the
- 46:27Speaker 18: ice skating and the train and the carnival rides. And
- 46:31Speaker 18: of course, if you thought it was if you thought
- 46:34Speaker 18: it was spectacular last year and it was, there are
- 46:37Speaker 18: it's unblinking believable. I think it's the way I put it,
- 46:41Speaker 18: because there are it looks like infinitely more lights.
- 46:44Speaker 5: I think they doubled the light total. I think they did. Yeah,
- 46:48Speaker 5: that's what Silango and I had Andy Shay on the.
- 46:49Speaker 18: Show, yes, in saying the food is good, the hot
- 46:52Speaker 18: chocolate was fantastic, unletted of course.
- 46:56Speaker 5: As far as you know, as far as I know, uh,
- 46:58Speaker 5: but but yeah, it officially opened to the public tonight, Yes,
- 47:01Speaker 5: and goes through New Year's Night, and it's brilliant.
- 47:03Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 47:03Speaker 5: And I'll say this. I was watching our good friends
- 47:05Speaker 5: over at thirteen this morning before I came into the studio,
- 47:08Speaker 5: and they were doing a live shot as they called it,
- 47:10Speaker 5: with Brian Hughes and also with Ben Selango County Commissioner
- 47:14Speaker 5: and the namesake of the Selango Law Lot that he's
- 47:16Speaker 5: law firm has that and Andy Shay who's the owner
- 47:19Speaker 5: of the Dirty Birds. And Andy Shay was rocking this
- 47:22Speaker 5: Rick Flair esque Santa Claus robe kind of a thing,
- 47:28Speaker 5: and I took a picture of it and literally took
- 47:30Speaker 5: a picture of my TV and texted it to Selango
- 47:33Speaker 5: and to Brian Hughes and to Andy and said, I
- 47:35Speaker 5: want someone to look at me the way that Ben
- 47:37Speaker 5: Selango was looking at Andy's robe, because it was just
- 47:41Speaker 5: something to be old. But all right, we got to
- 47:43Speaker 5: take a break and I got some texts. I got
- 47:45Speaker 5: to get to about you, sir. They found you. They
- 47:48Speaker 5: found you. You're the court of the Courts of Value.

- 50:55Speaker 5: this our.
- 50:56Speaker 18: Second annual WVRC Media drive through Turkey drop. Yes, it
- 51:00Speaker 18: is based on the idea turkeys away from WKRP in Cincinnati,
- 51:03Speaker 18: which was based on a real radio station doing a
- 51:05Speaker 18: real promotion. I digress seven o'clock Thursday morning, until six
- 51:09Speaker 18: in the evening. It's another chance to help out our
- 51:12Speaker 18: friends and neighbors. Everybody deserves, every family to have a
- 51:15Speaker 18: turkey on the table for Thanksgiving. So we have teamed
- 51:17Speaker 18: up with Mountain Mission and a whole bunch of other
- 51:19Speaker 18: folks for an opportunity for you to drop off a

- 51:43Speaker 18: give some folding money, which always works, and Mountain Mission
- 51:47Speaker 18: will get it into the hands of the folks who
- 51:49Speaker 18: need it so that everybody can hopefully have a happy holiday.
- 51:52Speaker 5: And I know all the stations have like other sponsors
- 51:55Speaker 5: that are helping out for us. Here at CCHS, it's
- 51:56Speaker 5: the folks of Cosmo Express. So we want to give
- 51:58Speaker 5: a big shout out to to them. Well, and you know,

- 52:07Speaker 5: idea too. And we were out there and it was cold,
- 52:10Speaker 5: it had snowed a couple of days before. We were
- 52:12Speaker 5: in between those two snowstorms, and the WVRC media listeners
- 52:15Speaker 5: of your stations and all the others here in the
- 52:17Speaker 5: building really really showed out for that.
- 52:19Speaker 18: Again, I am humbled, but not surprised at the way
