- 0:01Speaker 1: Welcome to Dirty Rush, The Truth about Sororiti Life with
- 0:04Speaker 1: your hosts me Gia, Judice.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Daisy Kent, and Jennifer Kessler. Hi, guys, welcome back to
- 0:13Speaker 2: another episode of Dirty Rush. So, before we get into
- 0:17Speaker 2: today's episode, Gia, I just saw something that was a little,
- 0:22Speaker 2: uh frightening. It sounds like you had some kind of
- 0:24Speaker 2: a something happened in attack of maybe a panic attack
- 0:28Speaker 2: or something at BRAVOCN You called nine one one.
- 0:30Speaker 1: Yeah. I've never experienced it to that lengths before, So
- 0:37Speaker 1: I talked all about it in my Gia diaries. But
- 0:39Speaker 1: when I was getting my hair done, it was after
- 0:43Speaker 1: I got my makeup done, so I had been up
- 0:45Speaker 1: for like an hour at this point. Yeah, and I
- 0:49Speaker 1: just literally felt like my chest was closing. My hands
- 0:53Speaker 1: and feet started going numb and tingling, and I just
- 0:57Speaker 1: like didn't know what was going on. I've like experienced
- 0:59Speaker 1: anxiety before, but this was like another level. And so
- 1:04Speaker 1: I looked back at like Christian, my hair and makeup
- 1:07Speaker 1: artist Arianna was in the room with me, and I
- 1:10Speaker 1: was like, I'm sorry, guys, like call nine one one.
- 1:12Speaker 1: I don't know what's going on, and it's scary. Yeah,
- 1:15Speaker 1: it was just like a full blown I think it
- 1:18Speaker 1: was a panic attack, but it makes no sense because
- 1:21Speaker 1: nothing happened to me that like I would be panicking.
- 1:24Speaker 3: Over or you know, like it was nothing.
- 1:27Speaker 1: Nothing happened, and I wasn't drinking, so it was very weird.
- 1:31Speaker 1: And then honestly, I mean, I know in Vegas it's
- 1:34Speaker 1: like higher elevation. I was definitely dehydrated. I definitely wasn't
- 1:38Speaker 1: drinking as much water as I should have been, and
- 1:40Speaker 1: I also just wasn't eating, so it was just probably
- 1:44Speaker 1: come and like lack of sleep.
- 1:46Speaker 2: So was it a panic attack? Is that what I mean?
- 1:49Speaker 1: They they checked all my levels, and my heart rate
- 1:53Speaker 1: and blood pressure were the only things that were elevated.
- 1:56Speaker 1: Everything else was fine, so they were like, if you
- 1:59Speaker 1: go to the host, but although most likely to charge you.
- 2:02Speaker 1: So then I ended up just getting an IV drip
- 2:04Speaker 1: and they did say that it was a panic attack.
- 2:06Speaker 1: It felt like it was an hour, but it probably
- 2:09Speaker 1: only realistically lasted like twenty minutes. But the paramedics it
- 2:13Speaker 1: was I was like holding the paramedics and I was like, oh,
- 2:17Speaker 1: I was like, I was like, you're so calming, like
- 2:19Speaker 1: thank you.
- 2:20Speaker 3: It's scary when that stuff happens. I feel like.
- 2:22Speaker 4: Also, if you like don't feel well and you're like
- 2:25Speaker 4: that like running low on energy, then like and something
- 2:29Speaker 4: starts feeling wrong, then you can like induce a panic
- 2:32Speaker 4: attack because you're like, have you ever attack isn't feeling it?
- 2:36Speaker 3: I have.
- 2:36Speaker 4: I've had a couple, but they were like very weird scenarios.
- 2:42Speaker 4: But yeah I had one actually, Like at the very
- 2:45Speaker 4: end of The Bachelor, I had my first panic attack.
- 2:49Speaker 3: I was like, I need to go home. It's just bad.
- 2:52Speaker 2: I feel like that makes sense. I feel like you're
- 2:54Speaker 2: probably not alone.
- 2:55Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 2:56Speaker 1: I mean when you watch it, literally feel like you're dying.
- 3:00Speaker 1: It's like I thought I was having a heart attack.
- 3:02Speaker 3: Yeah no, it's crazy.
- 3:03Speaker 4: It's like your whole body just like like every part
- 3:06Speaker 4: of your body like freaks out.
- 3:08Speaker 1: Yeah No, that was That was something I've never felt
- 3:11Speaker 1: before and never want to feel again in my life.
- 3:14Speaker 3: I'm sorry that happened. God You're okay though.
- 3:16Speaker 1: No, thank you. Yeah. Once they started breathing with me,
- 3:20Speaker 1: things were better.
- 3:21Speaker 2: But I just I was God listen, Bravo. Kon could
- 3:26Speaker 2: be stress inducing to say the least.
- 3:28Speaker 3: Right, Yeah, it just it's a lot.
- 3:32Speaker 2: It is a lot it is a lot. Well, this
- 3:33Speaker 2: is going to be light and easy and fun. Our
- 3:36Speaker 2: episode is I think going to be a blast because
- 3:39Speaker 2: we're talking about Hollywood Greek life as opposed to the
- 3:44Speaker 2: reality of Greek life. So we're talking let's talk about
- 3:48Speaker 2: some of the movies that have represented Greek life, frats
- 3:53Speaker 2: and sororities and everything sort of in between. Let's like
- 3:57Speaker 2: separate the Greek myths from the truth. And we're going
- 4:02Speaker 2: to start out. You guys, and I am going to
- 4:05Speaker 2: take a wager bet that you've never seen this movie.
- 4:09Speaker 5: Be wrong.
- 4:10Speaker 2: Have you ever seen Animal House?
- 4:12Speaker 1: No, I'm right now and I don't know what this
- 4:15Speaker 1: movie is.
- 4:16Speaker 2: Oh my god, you guys, that is so tragic. I
- 4:19Speaker 2: can't even believe it because it's an.
- 4:21Speaker 1: I do love the old movies though, Like I rather
- 4:24Speaker 1: watch an old movie than you know, some of the
- 4:26Speaker 1: new movies that are out now. But I've never heard of.
- 4:28Speaker 2: This, I can you've never heard of Animal House. I'm
- 4:32Speaker 2: gonna have to like, I'm gonna have to mull that
- 4:34Speaker 2: over later. It's a little depressing, but anyway, Okay, so
- 4:38Speaker 2: Animal House, I want it probably was among the first
- 4:42Speaker 2: in terms of movies about Greek life have ever, Right,
- 4:46Speaker 2: have you ever heard of John Belushi? No, forget it,
- 4:48Speaker 2: you guys are not. Oh my god. Okay, So, so
- 4:53Speaker 2: the movie is about there's like this fictional college what
- 4:58Speaker 2: was the name of it, Uh, I don't know, and
- 5:01Speaker 2: just like a very typical American college, and there was
- 5:04Speaker 2: this frat called the Deltas and it was sort of
- 5:07Speaker 2: like the House of Misfit Toys, right, Like, all the
- 5:12Speaker 2: guys in it were either they were nerds or they
- 5:16Speaker 2: were like or they were like. There was this one
- 5:18Speaker 2: guy that was very handsome and smart, and then there
- 5:20Speaker 2: was the other frat that was what was at the time,
- 5:23Speaker 2: you know, like the typical still typical frat boy frat, right,
- 5:27Speaker 2: And so the two frats hated each other. But it
- 5:33Speaker 2: explored like, of course, you know, sororities and parties and rules,
- 5:42Speaker 2: but it was it went further than you guys would
- 5:45Speaker 2: ever have gone, further than any movie today would probably
- 5:49Speaker 2: have taken it because it was so politically incorrect, Like,
- 5:52Speaker 2: there was so much that went on that was insane.
- 5:54Speaker 2: There was this really there's this scene where so some
- 5:58Speaker 2: of the boys are in rot see and they have like,
- 6:03Speaker 2: I don't know, and one of the like they're hazing everyone, right,
- 6:07Speaker 2: and one of the hazing if you guys ever heard
- 6:08Speaker 2: of the expression, thank you, sir, can I have another? No,
- 6:12Speaker 2: I can't do this forget you guys. I can't do
- 6:14Speaker 2: this with you. I cannot because I'm gonna know the
- 6:17Speaker 2: movies you're talking about. This is just a podic whatever.
- 6:21Speaker 5: So like there's this whole pledge our hazing thing and
- 6:24Speaker 5: where they hit this, they have to bend over and
- 6:27Speaker 5: this guy with a paddle like takes it and like
- 6:29Speaker 5: slams these like this kid like right in the ass
- 6:33Speaker 5: and like the thank you, sir, can I have another?
- 6:35Speaker 2: And he goes back off and it's it's over the top.
- 6:39Speaker 2: And then there's like a toga party, which is iconic.
- 6:41Speaker 2: If you guys had toga parties, yes, yes, yes, I'll
- 6:45Speaker 2: thank God, okay, but this toga party is it's like
- 6:48Speaker 2: at another it took everything and it exaggerated it. There's
- 6:53Speaker 2: one of the one of the guys from Delta asks
- 6:56Speaker 2: this girl at a grocery store out it turns out
- 6:58Speaker 2: she's thirteen. Like that is just you know, it's it's
- 7:02Speaker 2: probably wouldn't have even been in a movie at this
- 7:05Speaker 2: probably wouldn't be in a movie at point there's these
- 7:07Speaker 2: food fights in the cafeteria and it's just it's so funny.
- 7:13Speaker 2: It is. I suggest that you watch it. Maybe don't
- 7:15Speaker 2: tell your moms, but I'm suggesting that. But it's really
- 7:19Speaker 2: it is because it's very politically incorrect, but it is.
- 7:22Speaker 2: It's just the Greek world but exaggerated. And although maybe
- 7:27Speaker 2: I don't know, maybe I'm out of touch at fifty seven,
- 7:29Speaker 2: maybe this stuff does still go down. I mean I
- 7:31Speaker 2: went to you guys know of like a southern school
- 7:35Speaker 2: and things were maybe more proper. This was Greek life
- 7:39Speaker 2: out of control. I don't know if you guys ever
- 7:42Speaker 2: had you know, like there were fights, and there there
- 7:47Speaker 2: were like out of the girls were like the boys
- 7:51Speaker 2: would like fib up the ladder and watch and go
- 7:55Speaker 2: into the windows of the sorority house. And the girls
- 7:58Speaker 2: were like all naked and dance like doing like a
- 8:00Speaker 2: pillow fight with their boobs, with their boobs out. And
- 8:04Speaker 2: then one of the girls starts to masturbate and like
- 8:07Speaker 2: John Belushi falls off his ladder as he's watching her,
- 8:11Speaker 2: or he's sneaking under the bleachers to look up these girls.
- 8:13Speaker 2: The sorty girls panties like that would not fly.
- 8:16Speaker 3: Yeah, this is nuts.
- 8:18Speaker 2: Yeah, this is nutsy.
- 8:19Speaker 1: Again reminds me of like, I mean, not to the extent,
- 8:23Speaker 1: but like Greece when like the one uh, the one
- 8:26Speaker 1: character I forget his name in the movie, but he
- 8:28Speaker 1: went into the bleachery, No it wasn't no, it was
- 8:32Speaker 1: the other one that was he was dating. No, no,
- 8:35Speaker 1: he wasn't numb I forgot who he was dating.
- 8:37Speaker 2: But he would go on to do yes, yes, yes, yes, yes,
- 8:39Speaker 2: yes yes do duty duty dudey, Well, this is this
- 8:45Speaker 2: is not this is not This is waywanchier than Greece
- 8:48Speaker 2: and with no singe.
- 8:50Speaker 1: Like Greece is my favorite movie.
- 8:52Speaker 3: Yeah, Grease is such a good movie.
- 8:54Speaker 4: I would say the thing that you were saying, like
- 8:56Speaker 4: how the fraternity like was like one with like a
- 9:00Speaker 4: bunch of people that were like nerds and like awkward
- 9:03Speaker 4: or whatever. I think at San Diego State, it's definitely
- 9:07Speaker 4: like when I was there, it was like each frat
- 9:09Speaker 4: was like known for something like Pike was like the
- 9:13Speaker 4: smart boys that like did really well in school, and
- 9:15Speaker 4: then like I say, you were like the really like
- 9:18Speaker 4: party party guy.
- 9:20Speaker 1: Pike was the smart boys. Yeah at the time, Oh
- 9:23Speaker 1: my gosh, that's so crazy. I feel like Pike is
- 9:25Speaker 1: like historically known to be like the party frat.
- 9:29Speaker 4: That's so funny. It's so like how it differs from
- 9:32Speaker 4: school to school. It was so interesting.
- 9:35Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, well like at Mine at u t ZBT
- 9:39Speaker 2: that was sort of the cool boys, right, but that's
- 9:41Speaker 2: also like where you got Haze. I want to say,
- 9:43Speaker 2: it might have even gotten hicked off campus because much
- 9:46Speaker 2: less than what they're showing an animal house. But and
- 9:50Speaker 2: then Sammy was sort of like the smart nice boys,
- 9:53Speaker 2: so there is there's always that, yeah, but they were
- 9:55Speaker 2: at war two at Rockers.
- 9:57Speaker 1: Sammy was the smart night nice boys too.
- 10:14Speaker 2: Did you ever see that though? Were there ever like
- 10:15Speaker 2: wars between frats.
- 10:17Speaker 1: If anything, only if like they did something like Pike
- 10:21Speaker 1: for example, would always get kicked off campus. So Pike
- 10:25Speaker 1: would always still try to throw and when they did that,
- 10:29Speaker 1: obviously like the cops would come immediately, because when your
- 10:32Speaker 1: party isn't registered with the campus, the cops can come
- 10:35Speaker 1: and shut it down at any time. So then you
- 10:39Speaker 1: would have like kai kaifi, I don't know, I'm like
- 10:45Speaker 1: so bad. But basically all the other frats which were
- 10:48Speaker 1: like nice, like you know, nice frats and like they
- 10:51Speaker 1: had really nice houses on campus. They always followed the rules,
- 10:54Speaker 1: so they had like the bigger parties on campus, but
- 10:57Speaker 1: like no one would like everyone would want to go,
- 11:00Speaker 1: but like they would also rather go to a Pike
- 11:03Speaker 1: party and than a Sammy party. So it was like
- 11:07Speaker 1: we would go to the Pike party and then go
- 11:10Speaker 1: to Sammy after because they were still registered and the
- 11:13Speaker 1: cops weren't there yet, so right right?
- 11:17Speaker 2: Do you which a quick aside, something did all the
- 11:20Speaker 2: frat like all Greek life just stopped at North Carolina?
- 11:23Speaker 2: Did you guys see this?
- 11:24Speaker 4: Oh?
- 11:24Speaker 3: I didn't see that. Did something happen?
- 11:27Speaker 2: Something happened? We don't have to get into that, I guess,
- 11:28Speaker 2: but like just interestingly enough, I think it was hazing
- 11:31Speaker 2: and they just like basically they shut down. I think
- 11:34Speaker 2: at North Carolina.
- 11:35Speaker 4: I feel like a lot of places that has been
- 11:38Speaker 4: happening in like the last few years.
- 11:39Speaker 3: I know, San Diego State, where I.
- 11:42Speaker 4: Went, I know the Greek life has really like went
- 11:44Speaker 4: down compared to what it usually or what it used
- 11:47Speaker 4: to be, is what I've heard.
- 11:49Speaker 2: Yeah, well, I mean listen again, stuff in the movies
- 11:52Speaker 2: I don't think would fly. Although I don't know I mean,
- 11:54Speaker 2: you guys, tell me what movies do you think compare
- 11:58Speaker 2: it all?
- 12:00Speaker 4: Honestly, I don't really think any movies do. I mean,
- 12:04Speaker 4: they like get the like just behind it, like sorority,
- 12:07Speaker 4: like Sisterhood like bad stuff.
- 12:11Speaker 3: But like the parties and stuff.
- 12:14Speaker 1: I feel like the parties are so exaggerated. Yeah, like
- 12:18Speaker 1: I don't know. The parties were not that.
- 12:19Speaker 4: Fun when I was in school, Okay, My our parties
- 12:22Speaker 4: were actually crazy. I remember we like when there was
- 12:26Speaker 4: one that was called like candy Land. They like all
- 12:28Speaker 4: had different themes so you would dress up for them.
- 12:31Speaker 4: And I was walking into Candyland and this girl that
- 12:35Speaker 4: I knew walked out and she had like blonde hair
- 12:38Speaker 4: and she was just like her hair was like slicked
- 12:41Speaker 4: down her and it looked brown because and then I
- 12:44Speaker 4: walked in and I was like, what just happened? Like
- 12:46Speaker 4: she looked like she was like covered in something. And
- 12:48Speaker 4: I walk in and all the guys had like the
- 12:50Speaker 4: Hershey's chocolate like bottles and were like spraying them like
- 12:54Speaker 4: dumping them on everyone, like they.
- 12:56Speaker 3: Were like these frat houses were destroyed.
- 13:00Speaker 2: My god.
- 13:00Speaker 1: I mean yeah, I felt like mine were very like mediocre,
- 13:04Speaker 1: like they were fun obviously we had a good time,
- 13:06Speaker 1: but like very mediocre. When I look at places like
- 13:10Speaker 1: University of Miami or even some schools like Alabama, like
- 13:14Speaker 1: that is another level.
- 13:17Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 13:17Speaker 2: Yeah, we had big parties at UT there were really
- 13:21Speaker 2: big parties and there were really nice houses. So even
- 13:25Speaker 2: the frat houses were really nice, like big outdoor parties
- 13:29Speaker 2: with there was always a band, everybody was always decked
- 13:33Speaker 2: in whatever theme. There was always like I don't know,
- 13:37Speaker 2: tons of food, tons of alcohol, and like really really
- 13:40Speaker 2: nice big houses. I mean, I don't know how much
- 13:43Speaker 2: of that. I guess probably more in this iide more
- 13:46Speaker 2: down South they do parties like that, I would think.
- 13:49Speaker 1: Yeah, so yeah, a movie that resonates with me, I
- 13:52Speaker 1: feel like is Legally Blonde, although some of the scenes
- 13:55Speaker 1: I think are a bit exaggerated. Obviously, Elwoods is just
- 13:58Speaker 1: so funny. She was the president at Delta New but
- 14:04Speaker 1: that sorority, and Legally Blonde was actually based off of
- 14:08Speaker 1: Delta Gamma at USC so they were trying to like
- 14:12Speaker 1: mimic another sorority, which honestly, when I look at like
- 14:16Speaker 1: Legally Blonde, I think of like Alabama, Like she was
- 14:19Speaker 1: the president of her sorority. She was so proud, took
- 14:22Speaker 1: so much pride, and like she really took it so seriously,
- 14:25Speaker 1: like she was at the top of her game.
- 14:27Speaker 2: She looked apart, right, she like was perfect, like Daisy,
- 14:30Speaker 2: like a gorgeous, blonde, sweet you know, one sorority girl
- 14:37Speaker 2: totally looked for.
- 14:39Speaker 1: So I mean she really, like I feel like, described
- 14:44Speaker 1: what it is to be like, you know, and she
- 14:48Speaker 1: was very ocd like she needed everything organized. It was
- 14:51Speaker 1: very like this, this and that, and that's why she
- 14:55Speaker 1: was the president. I mean, she took it very seriously.
- 14:58Speaker 1: And then there was this one scene where all of
- 14:59Speaker 1: her sorority sisters were like writing her like a letter
- 15:03Speaker 1: basically before she was going on a date with her
- 15:06Speaker 1: boyfriend at the time. They all thought that she was
- 15:09Speaker 1: getting engaged and he was going to law school. She
- 15:13Speaker 1: was gonna, you know, then she had she was going
- 15:15Speaker 1: to go to law school to follow him and ended
- 15:18Speaker 1: up killing it. But she went on this date with
- 15:22Speaker 1: him and he actually ended up breaking up with her.
- 15:25Speaker 1: So just little things like that, Like I don't think
- 15:29Speaker 1: my sorority sisters would have ever written me a note
- 15:32Speaker 1: or a letter before going out on a date, but
- 15:35Speaker 1: I do think that it was It was like a fun,
- 15:39Speaker 1: like corny description of like what a sorority could be
- 15:42Speaker 1: like and what sisterhood should feel like.
- 15:44Speaker 3: I feel, oh for sure.
- 15:46Speaker 4: I also I like getting engaged in college, like leaving
- 15:51Speaker 4: my sorority house.
- 15:52Speaker 3: I'm just like, what that happens?
- 15:55Speaker 1: They thought they yeah, no, they thought that she was
- 15:58Speaker 1: going to get engaged when he actually ended up breaking
- 16:00Speaker 1: up what he dumb her?
- 16:01Speaker 2: Yeah, that was a whole ultimate right, Like she was
- 16:03Speaker 2: going to get engaged and they were so excited for her.
- 16:06Speaker 1: Yes, and they were going to go to Harvard and
- 16:08Speaker 1: go to law school and live out this dream.
- 16:11Speaker 2: Yeah. That was the part that was so unexpected that
- 16:13Speaker 2: all of a sudden she's like that, right, that all
- 16:16Speaker 2: of a sudden she actually, wait a second, I'm brilliant,
- 16:19Speaker 2: Like I'm all things. I'm a gorgeous blonde sorority girl,
- 16:23Speaker 2: but I'm also this badass, you know, brilliant young woman.
- 16:28Speaker 2: Which was I love that part of the movie.
- 16:30Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 16:31Speaker 1: Yeah, And then she ended up going to law school
- 16:34Speaker 1: and she was like top of her class, like she
- 16:36Speaker 1: killed it so right, right, it was It's a really
- 16:40Speaker 1: cute movie.
- 16:41Speaker 3: It is.
- 16:41Speaker 2: It is really love that movie. And there was like,
- 16:44Speaker 2: I I what does she do. She has, oh, what
- 16:46Speaker 2: is the dog's name? She brings the dog with or
- 16:48Speaker 2: wherever she goes.
- 16:49Speaker 1: Everywhere she goes.
- 16:50Speaker 3: That's a little bit everywhere.
- 16:52Speaker 2: Bruiser, Bruiser. She brings brus like Bruiser has, like all
- 16:56Speaker 2: the sorority outphits onto and like she talked. The bruis
- 17:00Speaker 2: were like, it's like a sorority sister.
- 17:02Speaker 1: He's her best friend, tells him everything.
- 17:04Speaker 4: Literally when I was in college, like I could barely
- 17:06Speaker 4: take care of myself.
- 17:07Speaker 3: I don't know, I couldn't have a dog.
- 17:09Speaker 2: Yeah, el was together and she was like spraying perfume
- 17:12Speaker 2: on her resume. Do you guys remember that?
- 17:15Speaker 4: Oh yes, Could you guys have dogs in your sorority house?
- 17:19Speaker 3: Oh yeah, I don't think we couldn't either.
- 17:22Speaker 1: We had a house dog, a house dog. Yeah, so
- 17:25Speaker 1: we had a Golden Retriever house dog because our house
- 17:29Speaker 1: mom had a dog, and so she.
- 17:31Speaker 3: Oh it was like her dog that they let her
- 17:33Speaker 3: keep there. Yeah.
- 17:35Speaker 1: Yeah, Like the sisters didn't like take care of the
- 17:37Speaker 1: dog by any o friends.
- 17:39Speaker 3: It was just there for like emotional support.
- 17:42Speaker 2: I would think a dog would get scared out of
- 17:43Speaker 2: its mind in a sorority house.
- 17:46Speaker 1: Yeah, well she was living with us, so like the
- 17:49Speaker 1: dog was hers and yeah.
- 17:52Speaker 4: Yeah, do all sororities have a house mom? Like I
- 17:55Speaker 4: had a house mom, and I think it's pretty standard.
- 17:59Speaker 2: Yeah I did a million years ago.
- 18:01Speaker 3: She knew everything about us.
- 18:03Speaker 4: We would all come home from like the frat parties
- 18:05Speaker 4: and people would be like crying about boys or like
- 18:08Speaker 4: talking about all this drama.
- 18:09Speaker 3: Like she was in on the tea.
- 18:11Speaker 2: I kind of wonder, like, what you're talking about it?
- 18:14Speaker 2: I think I should have been a house.
- 18:16Speaker 1: My sorority mom just had like a glow up, and
- 18:19Speaker 1: everyone from my sorority was like thinking out about it.
- 18:23Speaker 3: But like we were like, oh, she.
- 18:25Speaker 1: Definitely, you know, maybe got a boob job or what
- 18:27Speaker 1: on no zepic, Like she looks great, like.
- 18:31Speaker 2: Like we do after a Housewives raps. I think it
- 18:36Speaker 2: could be fun to be a house mom, but in reality,
- 18:38Speaker 2: probably for me not at all.
- 18:40Speaker 1: Okay, So I actually want to bring in this next movie.
- 18:43Speaker 1: So I'm going to bring in somebody from our team
- 18:46Speaker 1: to tell us a little bit about it.
- 18:47Speaker 6: House Funny, It's such an iconic movie. Played by Anna Faris.
- 18:52Speaker 6: She essentially is.
- 18:56Speaker 3: An ex playboy.
- 18:57Speaker 6: Bunny and place to live and stumbles across sorority Rogue
- 19:04Speaker 6: Greek Rome, tries to get into five Iota Mew and
- 19:10Speaker 6: then gets rejected. There goes down to Zeta Alpha Zeta
- 19:15Speaker 6: and it's a bunch of weirdos, and so she becomes
- 19:20Speaker 6: their house mom. And I think, what's different about this
- 19:24Speaker 6: Greek movie is that it's not about like parties and
- 19:30Speaker 6: chugging beers. It's kind of like Anna Faris, her character Shelley,
- 19:34Speaker 6: kind of tries to like get these the weird girls outcast,
- 19:38Speaker 6: you know, out into the world and to do the
- 19:40Speaker 6: college things. And it's funny, and Anna Faris is iconic
- 19:45Speaker 6: in it, and she has this monster voice that everyone
- 19:48Speaker 6: always recites. And she actually got lip injections for the part,
- 19:53Speaker 6: which I thought was a painful thing. And it was
- 19:57Speaker 6: making me wonder if everyone, if that's like universal, once
- 20:02Speaker 6: you get into college you should get lip injections.
- 20:04Speaker 2: Is that really?
- 20:05Speaker 3: You guys know it's not universal.
- 20:07Speaker 1: If I got lip injections, I would look like a clown. Yeah, you,
- 20:11Speaker 1: My lips are already so big. I would look like
- 20:13Speaker 1: an actual clown.
- 20:15Speaker 3: I got lip injections like two years ago.
- 20:18Speaker 1: No, but that's different, Daisy, Like, if you if you
- 20:20Speaker 1: actually listen, if you actually have small lips and you
- 20:23Speaker 1: want to like plump them up a little bit. Yeah,
- 20:25Speaker 1: I don't think there's anything wrong with that. I just
- 20:27Speaker 1: hate when people get like completely carried away. Oh Like
- 20:31Speaker 1: I've told my mom a couple of times, maybe we
- 20:33Speaker 1: need to dissolve the lip filler and start over.
- 20:35Speaker 2: She did, didn't she?
- 20:36Speaker 1: Yeah she did started No, yeah she did. She started over.
- 20:40Speaker 1: But you know what, And this is also what I
- 20:42Speaker 1: think sometimes, like because when my mom is no makeup
- 20:45Speaker 1: on her, like, it doesn't nothing looks bad, Like her
- 20:49Speaker 1: lips don't even look that big. It's when you get
- 20:52Speaker 1: your makeup done sometimes or even when you're doing your
- 20:54Speaker 1: makeup and the over lining gets carried away too. So
- 20:59Speaker 1: then you start the overlining, which I feel like kind
- 21:02Speaker 1: of became a thing when we were in college, Daisy,
- 21:04Speaker 1: I mean, at.
- 21:04Speaker 3: Least it did for me.
- 21:06Speaker 1: I feel like that's right when it like yeah, then
- 21:09Speaker 1: it's like you start overlining and it's like, oh my gosh,
- 21:13Speaker 1: like this is too much.
- 21:30Speaker 2: The girls have plastics, like like at that age, nobody
- 21:33Speaker 2: in my sorority had anything like maybe there was a
- 21:35Speaker 2: nose job.
- 21:36Speaker 4: I mean, I know, I know, a few girls that
- 21:38Speaker 4: got boob jobs, and I know a few girls that
- 21:41Speaker 4: got those jobs.
- 21:42Speaker 1: Yeah, I would say bub and those jobs were the
- 21:44Speaker 1: two most common. Like I got my nose done when
- 21:47Speaker 1: I was in college because I didn't want to get
- 21:50Speaker 1: it done when I was in high school because I
- 21:53Speaker 1: just and I also would never get my nose done
- 21:56Speaker 1: done if my no No was still alive. So why
- 22:01Speaker 1: because he said that I had his nose. Ah, So
- 22:06Speaker 1: I felt so guilty, like and I always hated my nose.
- 22:09Speaker 1: But that's why my mom never knew. I hated it
- 22:12Speaker 1: like my no No never knew, like nobody ever knew,
- 22:15Speaker 1: because I felt so guilty, like being like, oh, like, yes,
- 22:20Speaker 1: no No, it looks so cute on you, but I
- 22:23Speaker 1: actually hated so much.
- 22:24Speaker 2: That is the cutest thing I've ever heard. That you
- 22:26Speaker 2: didn't want anyone to know.
- 22:28Speaker 1: No, So then I mean obviously, yeah, I would never
- 22:31Speaker 1: want I would wish for him back instantly, but he
- 22:35Speaker 1: unfortunately passed away during COVID. And then when he passed away,
- 22:40Speaker 1: I told my mom, I was like, Okay, I actually
- 22:43Speaker 1: hate my nose.
- 22:43Speaker 2: And she was like, what, I had no idea gorgeous nose?
- 22:48Speaker 2: So I men remember it before it was gorgeous.
- 22:52Speaker 1: Now it was it was It literally was just a
- 22:55Speaker 1: bigger version of this, Like they just made my old
- 22:58Speaker 1: nose smaller. But I feel like because also I feel
- 23:02Speaker 1: like in college people start to do a little more
- 23:05Speaker 1: because they're out of their hometown and they don't want
- 23:08Speaker 1: to receive the judgment of their hometown, so then they
- 23:11Speaker 1: do it when they're in college, because I feel like
- 23:13Speaker 1: when you're in college, like nobody really gives a shit.
- 23:15Speaker 4: Yeah, I feel like your hometown, Like I love my
- 23:20Speaker 4: hometown and like the people from there, but like it
- 23:23Speaker 4: can be judgmental.
- 23:24Speaker 1: Oh yeah, and especially if like you come back looking
- 23:27Speaker 1: ten times hotter, they're like, oh, what'd she do?
- 23:30Speaker 2: You don't feel like that? And you did feel like
- 23:32Speaker 2: that in your sororities, like it was judgmental.
- 23:35Speaker 1: I don't know. I felt like people didn't really care
- 23:38Speaker 1: too much, yeah, unless like something looked bad. Like I
- 23:43Speaker 1: think if someone got something done, like people obviously talked
- 23:48Speaker 1: about it, but it would suck when they would talk
- 23:50Speaker 1: about it, like if it looked bad. Yeah, But when
- 23:54Speaker 1: I got my nose down, I felt like no one
- 23:56Speaker 1: really talked about me.
- 23:57Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 23:58Speaker 4: I remember when I came back my I think it
- 24:01Speaker 4: was like my sophomore year of college and everyone thought
- 24:06Speaker 4: that I got a boob job, which I didn't. I
- 24:08Speaker 4: just finally got my boobs. But the same things happened
- 24:12Speaker 4: to my sister, Like not until they were like twenty
- 24:15Speaker 4: one did they get boobs. But I was like, everyone
- 24:18Speaker 4: was like, you got a boob job, and I was like,
- 24:19Speaker 4: I did not.
- 24:20Speaker 3: But even if I did, who cares? But I didn't.
- 24:23Speaker 2: You guys feel like like even these movies like talking
- 24:26Speaker 2: about like Hou's funny, how like some sorty houses like
- 24:30Speaker 2: Anna Pharisi said, Emma went in and tried to like
- 24:33Speaker 2: get these girls too, I guess come out of their
- 24:35Speaker 2: shell a little bit. And but like in terms of
- 24:39Speaker 2: just physically was it like that for you? Guys were
- 24:42Speaker 2: like this sorty house is all pretty girls. They all
- 24:44Speaker 2: kind of and then we've talked about this before. The
- 24:48Speaker 2: other houses are maybe you don't have more of the
- 24:50Speaker 2: geeky girls. Yeah, but like physically was always a big difference.
- 24:56Speaker 1: Pretty much, which was sad. I mean, I felt like
- 24:58Speaker 1: when I was rushing, it was very obvious what sororities
- 25:04Speaker 1: were on top and what sororities were lower in tier,
- 25:08Speaker 1: and it was. You know, it's crazy because you don't
- 25:13Speaker 1: realize it, but like how split it is is so obvious. Yeah,
- 25:20Speaker 1: but it's it's not really talked about. But like you
- 25:23Speaker 1: know where the pretty girls are, you know where the
- 25:26Speaker 1: smart girls are? You maybe know where you know, I
- 25:30Speaker 1: don't even know, Like it's just it's very divided.
- 25:33Speaker 3: I feel. Yeah, No, I agree with that, not necessarily
- 25:36Speaker 3: a bad way.
- 25:37Speaker 6: I think some of the division comes from interests, shared interests.
- 25:41Speaker 1: Like No, I agree, I totally agree.
- 25:44Speaker 6: With that, like what Emma, you know, like if some
- 25:50Speaker 6: people are more into working out what or sports, or
- 25:53Speaker 6: some people are more into you know, like we had
- 25:56Speaker 6: some religious sororities on my campus and people that were
- 26:01Speaker 6: really smart and just really focused on studying.
- 26:04Speaker 3: So I think it can be looked at in like
- 26:06Speaker 3: multiple ways.
- 26:07Speaker 1: No, yeah, I don't think it's unnecessarily fully a negative,
- 26:10Speaker 1: but it is obvious like the difference between each sorority.
- 26:14Speaker 1: And I think just based on your personality when you
- 26:17Speaker 1: do walk into a sorority during recruitment, you kind of
- 26:20Speaker 1: know where you want to be. And I just find
- 26:22Speaker 1: it sad where sometimes like when girls want to be
- 26:25Speaker 1: in the top tier sorority and obviously that doesn't work
- 26:28Speaker 1: out for them, So I think it also, you know,
- 26:31Speaker 1: it does have to do with like looks and physical attributes.
- 26:34Speaker 1: But then I also think a big part of it
- 26:36Speaker 1: is obviously what your interests are. And I remember, you know,
- 26:40Speaker 1: walking into some of the sororities during recruitment and it
- 26:43Speaker 1: was like we have study groups every day from three
- 26:45Speaker 1: to five, and I'm like, oh, I don't know if
- 26:47Speaker 1: I could study that much.
- 26:49Speaker 4: Like in your sorority. Did you have to have a
- 26:52Speaker 4: certain gpa to like stan in it? Okay, yeah, mind
- 26:56Speaker 4: to too.
- 26:56Speaker 1: And they gave us like once a week, like a
- 27:00Speaker 1: quiet hour. It was only our freshman year though. Yeah,
- 27:04Speaker 1: our freshman year we had to like go into like
- 27:06Speaker 1: an auditorium like this already would runt out an auditorium
- 27:09Speaker 1: and we would go there for an hour. Like if
- 27:12Speaker 1: there was a party after, we would like bring like
- 27:15Speaker 1: our our what are they called, like hydros yes, hydro yes.
- 27:21Speaker 1: I'm like, wait, what are tumblers? I'm like, what are
- 27:23Speaker 1: those things called?
- 27:25Speaker 2: What are you talking about? What the hell's a hydro?
- 27:28Speaker 3: I'd go to Starbucks, get a refresher dumb some like.
- 27:33Speaker 1: Like our wallas or hydro flasks like what you put
- 27:35Speaker 1: your water in like to drink. You know, I'm talking
- 27:38Speaker 1: about Jen.
- 27:39Speaker 2: I just called that a glass like this, like like
- 27:44Speaker 2: the water. Yeah okay, I have yeah, okay, okay, like
- 27:48Speaker 2: one of the Stanley's or something.
- 27:49Speaker 4: Yes.
- 27:50Speaker 1: Yes, So if we had our study hours, like you
- 27:54Speaker 1: would go and it was mandatory freshman year because they
- 27:57Speaker 1: wanted you to maintain your certain GPA. And but if
- 28:02Speaker 1: there was a partyer because it was always on Thursday,
- 28:04Speaker 1: we would always like fill up our things with vodka
- 28:07Speaker 1: and mixers and we would free game during our study hour.
- 28:12Speaker 2: Oh my god, I remember studying. There's this one girl, Mandy,
- 28:16Speaker 2: who we took a class together. I'll never forget. And
- 28:19Speaker 2: it was it. We just we couldn't stop laughing the
- 28:22Speaker 2: entire night. We were going to stay up the entire night,
- 28:25Speaker 2: and we slept through the exam like both of us.
- 28:29Speaker 2: Like that was sometimes the problem was studying with sorority sisters,
- 28:31Speaker 2: like even in the library, as we just couldn't connect
- 28:34Speaker 2: to whatever we were studying. We made up some messed
- 28:37Speaker 2: up excuse the next day to the professor was very
- 28:41Speaker 2: sweet and bought it like we got like we're in
- 28:42Speaker 2: a car accident. The night before, like something really just horrific,
- 28:47Speaker 2: I remember, But like studying with my sorty and I
- 28:50Speaker 2: just I could never concentrate. I was always barely just
- 28:53Speaker 2: scraping by. But and some of my sisters were really smart,
- 28:57Speaker 2: and then you try to get them to like true
- 29:00Speaker 2: to you a little bit. It just never went well
- 29:02Speaker 2: for me. Like I was not the type that could
- 29:03Speaker 2: go to an auditorium with a bunch of other girls
- 29:05Speaker 2: and study how to be completely alone, or all I
- 29:09Speaker 2: want to do is gossip.
- 29:10Speaker 1: No, yeah, I agree, And I would love when my
- 29:13Speaker 1: sorority sisters would revise my essays for me because I
- 29:18Speaker 1: was a horrible writer.
- 29:19Speaker 2: That's sisterhood. Oh my god, you guys, I feel like
- 29:23Speaker 2: we could just go on forever. So let's just take
- 29:25Speaker 2: a pause and we will be back for more.
