- 0:00It's been a really fun journey. You know, this show offers us the
- 0:05opportunity to make really engaging, enlightening, helpful friendships with people in the most
- 0:17unique ways. Because one of our research assistants, who's a dear friend,
- 0:25Rob, we got introduced to something called the bee line and you can find
- 0:32it at bline blogger dot blogspot dot com and it's the work of Scott Beacon.
- 0:39And I started referencing a lot of Scott's research digging kind of number crunching,
- 0:47and next thing, you know, we get introduced to Scott and I
- 0:53look forward to having him be at least a monthly visitor on the program.
- 0:58And we welcome back Scott b. And right now, Scott, how are
- 1:00you, sir Preston. I'm doing great and a fantastic back with you and
- 1:06your listeners today. How's the golf game? It could be better? But
- 1:11isn't that always the case? Yes, it is, everybody except Scottie Scheffler
- 1:15saying that right about now exactly, You've written a lot of great content and
- 1:23I want to focus on three recent blogs you've pushed out. Let's start with
- 1:27the kind of the dynamics of what's going on in the lead up to the
- 1:32twenty four election, because there's a shift that you've noted, especially with younger
- 1:37voters. Tell us what you've learned. Well. I enjoy looking at the
- 1:42polls, you know, I think there's voice questions about how accurate they are,
- 1:46sure, but I think they show some trends. And I think one
- 1:49of the interesting trends that I'm noticing is that the support of younger voters,
- 1:53particularly those eighteen to twenty nine, appears to be eroding for Biden. And
- 2:00I think it's very interesting looking at the data. For example, he won
- 2:05that demographic by some twenty four points in twenty twenty. Compare that to Hillary
- 2:12only won that demographic by nineteen in twenty sixteen, but a recent NBC poll
- 2:20shows him only up by eight over Trump in that demographic, and a Fox
- 2:23News poll actually showed Trump up by eighteen. So whether you believe those polls
- 2:30or not, and they're probably both inaccurate, but you look at the broader
- 2:35trend and it clearly shows a disillusionment of the young with Biden. Whether they'll
- 2:42move to Trump as a question, but I think that's an interesting trend to
- 2:46keep an eye on. You know, one of the things we noted.
- 2:49We came across a story back a couple of weeks ago where a Democrat operative,
- 2:54a guy who is really highly thought of as a consultant inside the Democrats,
- 3:00were he was screaming at the top of his loans to party insiders to
- 3:06stop registering kids to vote on college campuses. He said, you're registering Trump
- 3:13voters. They're swinging. Yeah, very interesting, very interesting. Now,
- 3:20just on the other side of that is the thing that's a little concerning for
- 3:23the Trump supporters is we're seeing older voters who have kind of been a lynch
- 3:29pan of support for the Republican Party over a number of years, seem to
- 3:34be moving away from Trump. So that's going to be interesting to see both
- 3:38camps how they try to bring each of those groups back into the fold.
- 3:43But you know, those that don't believe this younger voter moving, I mean,
- 3:46just look at what Biden is doing with regard to student loans. I
- 3:51mean, he's already been told clearly by the Supreme Court that it's unconstitutional right
- 3:55to try to forgive these loans, and yet here he is out hitting that
- 4:00again and again. And I think that shows you how concerned they are about
- 4:04the young voters. I don't think it can be viewed in any other way
- 4:08other than he's trying to buy votes and he's doing it in the only way
- 4:12he's got available to him, even if it is illegal. Right. Well,
- 4:15it's very unfortunate too, because you know, they know that any court
- 4:20action is not going to be done until well after the election. So it's
- 4:26really sad to see how they're trying to use young voters this way, because
- 4:30clearly this is unconstitutional and it will be shown again, I think after the
- 4:35election, but at that point it's going to be too late for the young
- 4:39voters. Good morning, and welcome to the Morning Show with Preston Scott.
- 4:46Scott Beacon my guest this morning. Scott, you weighed in on the Iran
- 4:48Israel. I don't know what we would call it where we are with that
- 4:54right now. It seems like every side has a spin to what's happening there.
- 4:59I know where I side, My allegiance is always going to be with
- 5:01Israel. That said, your observations, well, I think where we are
- 5:09right now is trying to figure out what the next move is for Israel.
- 5:15I mean, they're in a tough spot here they're obviously getting a lot of
- 5:16pressure from from the Biden administration to not do anything more, just to kind
- 5:23of take this and leave it and not up the ante, so to speak.
- 5:29But you know, I think you've got to put some of this in
- 5:30context. You know, they had the Israel had three hundred and thirty one
- 5:35projectiles at their territories from Iran, you know, came in Saturday night,
- 5:44you know, sixty tons of ordinance. Now to put that in perspective,
- 5:47you know, we talk about the Moab bomb that the US has has dropped
- 5:51in Afghanistan. That's for propective, that's eleven tons. So what was coming
- 5:57to them was almost equal to six mo Ab bombs when you put all those
- 6:01three hundred and thirty one missiles and drones coming at them. So to ask
- 6:08them to stand down, I think it's a big ask with regard to to
- 6:12Israel, and it's going to be interesting to see, you know, where
- 6:15they go with this. You Know. The other thing I think it's been
- 6:16interesting is how the mainstream medium plays this and even what Iran's position has been.
- 6:23Well, they were just retaliating because their embassy was attacked. But if
- 6:27you really look at what was going on. Their embassy was fully intact.
- 6:30It was a building neck to their embassy which they claimed to be a consulate.
- 6:33But that constance so happened to have the head commander of the KODS force
- 6:39there along with six other high level commanders. So what it begs the question
- 6:45is that really a diplomatic mission or was that really harboring you know, some
- 6:49terrorist forces with regard to the IRGC, that really sows a lot of terrorism
- 6:56throughout the Middle East. Well, I made the argument that is real intelligence
- 7:00is about generally, I mean, everyone makes mistakes, but generally is about
- 7:03as good as it gets. They clearly, I you know, authored a
- 7:09very precise strike at a very precise target, and it was meant to do
- 7:14what it did. It was meant to send a message, and it was
- 7:16meant to target people that they believed and had intelligence were responsible for some of
- 7:21what has been going on in the region. Scott, I've been making the
- 7:25argument, if you start the fight, you don't get to dictate the terms
- 7:29on how it ends exactly. And you know, the sad thing is is
- 7:34the Iranian people in all of this. You know, I had a note
- 7:38in my in my blog post it was kind of interesting that if you go
- 7:42back to nineteen seventy eight, when the Shaw was still in power, it
- 7:46took seventy one realls to equal one dollar. That's now six hundred and sixty
- 7:51five thousand reawlls. I mean, it's an incredible amount of suffering economically that
- 7:59the Iranian people have taken with the Mullos and charge there. So, yeah,
- 8:03the endgame here, I don't know where the endgame is, but it
- 8:07wouldn't it be poetic justice if out of all this we ended up with a
- 8:11regime of Iran coming down and the Iranian people could be free. That would
- 8:18be marvelous. Scott standby. I want to ask one more question relative to
- 8:22Iran and Israel and kind of broaden it into the problem this country's facing with
- 8:26regard to oil and where Iran fits into all of that. And then we're
- 8:31going to talk about something else that we mentioned briefly, and to look into
- 8:37the world of Coco, a product that my life just cannot live without in
- 8:41its various forms WSLA on your phone with the iHeart radio app, and on
- 8:46hundreds of devices like Alexa, Google Home, Xbox, and Sonos. So
- 8:50here we go in ihearts radio season visiting with Scott Beacon. He's the Bline
- 9:03Blogger. It's Bline Blogger dot blogspot dot com. And you can subscribe to
- 9:07the newsletters and trust me, you will really really like the content. It's
- 9:15well researched, thoughtful, and it prods just enough get you thinking past what
- 9:24you might read in the mainstream media out there. Scott, I want to
- 9:28just put a bow on the topic of Israel and Iran. Clearly, one
- 9:31of the first things Joe Biden did when he took office was hurt our energy
- 9:37independence. In fact, pretty much end it. What happens if Israel targets
- 9:41Iran's only source of revenue, which would be it's oil, Well, you
- 9:48know, I think we live on oil. I mean that's the way it
- 9:54is. I mean a lot of people don't want to believe that right now,
- 9:56but that is the reality in the world today. And you know,
- 10:00I was around in the Arab oil crisis back in the mid seventies. We
- 10:05had gas lines that would extend for miles. And you know, if things
- 10:09get disrupted over there, either whether Israel attacks the oil facilities or you can
- 10:15see Iran, it takes retaliation and tries to do something with the straits or
- 10:18moves or whatever. We can have a major disruption in oil, and obviously
- 10:22the biggest problem we have right now is we prepare for that eventuality with the
- 10:26strategic patrollum reserve. But Joe Biden has drained half of that off in the
- 10:31last over the last year, and we really don't have the reserves that we
- 10:37did at one time if we have a real disruption in oil. He's kind
- 10:41of used it for political purposes, which is concerning. And that's a big
- 10:45concern that I've had. I've written about several times in bline. You know,
- 10:48what do we do if we have a true disruption, a true emergency
- 10:52and not a political emergency, which is how he's basically used it. Yeah,
- 10:56it's been problematic. We've noted it as well, and and it certainly
- 11:01hasn't fallen under the category that we've defined as the purpose of having the strategic
- 11:05reserves. But it is what it is and where it is right now.
- 11:09You wrote another piece back earlier this month, just about six seven days ago
- 11:13in fact, dealing with chocolate, and I think a lot of people,
- 11:18you know, they look at what they spend at the grocery store right now.
- 11:22And buried within these prices are these subplots, and one of them is
- 11:28coco. Share what you've written about, Well, now we're into something really
- 11:33important. I think, so the chocolate, that's right, And this is
- 11:39how I kind of write sometimes, you know, you kind of get these
- 11:41nuggets that you aren't aware of. And I have no idea. I happened
- 11:45to see something that the price of cocoa had risen to over ten thousand dollars
- 11:50a ton. So that doesn't mean much if you don't have context, right,
- 11:54But the thing that really amazed me was that it now is more expensive
- 12:00to buy a ton of cocoa than it is to buy a ton of copper.
- 12:03And we see these stories every day where people are stealing copper off of
- 12:09houses and going into infrastructure to sell it to recycle it because the price of
- 12:13you know, copper has risen as well. But to think that coco is
- 12:18now more expensive than copper, you better lock up your chocolate because someone might
- 12:26be coming for it in the near future. Now, the other interesting subplot
- 12:31about this is, you know, I always want to delve in, well
- 12:33why is that? How could the price which has normally been about two thousand
- 12:37dollars a done. How did it all of a sudden rise ten thousand dollars
- 12:39a ton, right, And it appears that it goes back to three quarters
- 12:43of the production of cocoa in the world is going on in Africa, and
- 12:48a lot of those are done by small farmers over there, and they've had
- 12:52three consecutive years of yields where they've got met the production they've seen in the
- 12:58past, and so immediate at least. The other interesting subplot in this,
- 13:01you know, the climate alarm must come out and say, well, it's
- 13:03due to climate change. Obviously due to climate change, and you kind of
- 13:07look further at that and say, well, it's really not climate change.
- 13:11The real reason is these farmers who are poor, and we remember with a
- 13:16fertilizer price was really high in twenty one and twenty two, they couldn't afford
- 13:22to fertilize their trees and a lot of the trees are older, so the
- 13:26yields drop because they didn't fertilize the trees. And why was the price of
- 13:31fertilizer high, Well, that's because we had the natural gas fight, you
- 13:35know, coming up, which that evil fossil fuel. So it's kind of
- 13:39interesting the way all these things kind of work, and sometimes it's completely contrary
- 13:45to the narrative you hear. But I think eventually this will pass. I
- 13:50mean, you've got short cellars, You've got a lot of that transportation goes
- 13:52to the Red Sea with the Hoothys, so there's a lot of things going
- 13:56into this thing. But right now coco is more expensive than copper in the
- 14:01world commodity markets. That's incredible. We could talk for a very long time,
- 14:07my friend. I'll settle for having you come on next month. I
- 14:11appreciate your time, Okay, I always enjoyed Preston. Thank you, sir,
- 14:16Scott Beacon with us and again the website bline Blogger dot blogspot dot com.
- 14:26It's one of the best newsletters you'll subscribe to because you're just going to
- 14:30get data, observations and questions, but you're going to get lots of data.
- 14:37Twenty seven minutes after the hour
