- 0:00Speaker 1: Do you have a toilet plunger? It's very important.
- 0:03Speaker 2: 106.7.
- 0:03Speaker 1: How dare you? Cubby Christine.
- 0:05Speaker 2: It's personal.
- 0:06Speaker 1: Kristen's hanging out. The reason I said that to get
- 0:09Speaker 1: your attention is because we're reading a list of the
- 0:12Speaker 1: best example of things that you should buy before you
- 0:15Speaker 1: need it. Yeah. Because something will happen and you'll be like,
- 0:18Speaker 1: why didn't I have that? And toilet plunger caught my eye.
- 0:21Speaker 2: Right up there at the top.
- 0:22Speaker 1: Do you have one by every toilet?
- 0:24Speaker 2: We have several.
- 0:25Speaker 1: Yeah. Like, Even the small plastic ones you get like
- 0:28Speaker 1: at Marshalls or something.
- 0:29Speaker 2: The junky ones, it doesn't matter. Pass, go to the next.
- 0:32Speaker 1: And you have one good wooden one. I feel like
- 0:33Speaker 1: we all have the one professional one.
- 0:35Speaker 2: That's the one that we can never find when we
- 0:37Speaker 2: need it. Yeah.
- 0:38Speaker 1: So you go with the small one you got at
- 0:39Speaker 1: TJ Maxx.
- 0:40Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly.
- 0:40Speaker 1: All right. So Toilet Plunger is on there. EpiPen is
- 0:43Speaker 1: on there. And feel free, as we mention things, to
- 0:46Speaker 1: text us and add to the list things that you
- 0:48Speaker 1: should have before you need it. You buy it now.
- 0:51Speaker 1: Fire extinguisher, always good to have, right?
- 0:53Speaker 2: Yeah, you're supposed to.
- 0:54Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 0:54Speaker 2: I mean, if you're up to code, too, when you're
- 0:56Speaker 2: selling a house, you've got to have it.
- 0:57Speaker 1: Yes.
- 0:57Speaker 2: And it's in the kitchen. Yeah, didn't I say, Cubby,
- 1:00Speaker 2: this is like adulting.
- 1:01Speaker 1: It really is.
- 1:02Speaker 2: It's a little adulting lesson that these are things we
- 1:04Speaker 2: need around the house that once we start to get,
- 1:07Speaker 2: quote unquote, responsible, you will find that your parents were right.
- 1:11Speaker 1: Yeah. Like, I mean, look, a will. It's always kind
- 1:14Speaker 1: of hard to talk about, but it's very important. And
- 1:17Speaker 1: my wife and I did one before the kids were born.
- 1:20Speaker 2: With instruction.
- 1:21Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:21Speaker 2: Yeah, all that kind of stuff.
- 1:22Speaker 1: And I felt a lot better walking out of there
- 1:24Speaker 1: knowing people were covered.
- 1:26Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:27Speaker 1: It's tough to do again, but boom, it's locked up
- 1:29Speaker 1: in a vault somewhere and we're good.
- 1:31Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:31Speaker 1: Although we might have to tweak it. I think I have.
- 1:34Speaker 2: To start tweaking. I did mine before Eric showed up.
- 1:38Speaker 1: Yeah, so how often do you tweak a will? This
- 1:40Speaker 1: is a whole new conversation.
- 1:41Speaker 2: So Eric's on his own now. I know it.
- 1:43Speaker 1: And you didn't have Archie the last time you did
- 1:45Speaker 1: your will, right? You got to get the cat in
- 1:47Speaker 1: there now.
- 1:48Speaker 2: I did.
- 1:48Speaker 1: We didn't have kids.
- 1:50Speaker 2: I think, yes. I think we all have to go
- 1:51Speaker 2: back to the drawing board.
- 1:53Speaker 1: Flashlight and lots of batteries. Yes. You got to have that.
- 1:56Speaker 1: That's a good example of buy it before you need it.
- 1:58Speaker 2: That is so true. My father always had that stuff.
- 2:01Speaker 2: You don't need them as often anymore because it's kind
- 2:03Speaker 2: of changed with technology, but he always had light bulbs.
- 2:06Speaker 1: And a weather radio.
- 2:07Speaker 2: Oh, a weather radio.
- 2:08Speaker 1: Remember the one radio that would just do weather? And
- 2:11Speaker 1: it would be like an automated voice.
- 2:13Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:14Speaker 1: Yep. Current temperature in Cape May is 52 degrees. Winds.
- 2:18Speaker 1: It was just that. Spare keys for your car and house. Yep.
- 2:23Speaker 2: The wet dry vac. That's a big deal.
- 2:26Speaker 1: We don't have one of those in our home.
- 2:29Speaker 2: You need one of those because it's also on your
- 2:32Speaker 2: water leak detector. So if your hot water heater ever goes.
- 2:37Speaker 1: I have one of those.
- 2:37Speaker 2: Okay. So you have the detector.
- 2:39Speaker 1: It's right by the water heater. So if something happens,
- 2:42Speaker 1: I'll get it.
- 2:42Speaker 2: It'll alert you. That's important. Because once that baby starts
- 2:45Speaker 2: to leak, you can't stop it. And that's like if
- 2:48Speaker 2: you have a wet vac that's going to help you.
- 2:50Speaker 2: I learned you need a bucket and sponges because ours
- 2:54Speaker 2: started leaking. Like really, that's so basic, but you need it.
- 2:57Speaker 1: Wow. Okay. Carbon monoxide detector. I think every home has
- 3:01Speaker 1: them by now, but please get one. First aid kit nearby.
- 3:05Speaker 1: Do you have an emergency phone power bank? Do you remember...
- 3:11Speaker 1: during sandy which is by the way 14 years ago
- 3:14Speaker 1: tomorrow wow do you remember people in the parking lot
- 3:17Speaker 1: in their cars charging their phones yeah like we had
- 3:21Speaker 1: power banks back then but you didn't have power so you.
- 3:23Speaker 2: Couldn't right there was nothing to plug i remember everyone.
- 3:25Speaker 1: Hanging out in their car charging their phone yeah but
- 3:28Speaker 1: now the power banks these days you can charge and
- 3:30Speaker 1: they'll last for a long.
- 3:31Speaker 2: Time i was thinking there was like a hair salon
- 3:34Speaker 2: that we went to because they had power but so
- 3:36Speaker 2: many of us plugged in and they were using hair
- 3:37Speaker 2: dryers that the whole place went oh.
- 3:39Speaker 1: It really blew a few yes Also recommended a password
- 3:43Speaker 1: manager and emergency access setup.
- 3:46Speaker 2: I've never done that. I need to do that.
- 3:48Speaker 1: I don't have that at all.
- 3:49Speaker 2: That's a big grown-up thing. Jumper cables or portable jump
- 3:53Speaker 2: starter in the car. Oh, yeah.
- 3:55Speaker 1: When was the last time you got jumped?
- 3:58Speaker 2: Well, remember Ann and I had the flat tire recently,
- 4:01Speaker 2: so we had to do the donut.
- 4:03Speaker 1: Oh, I do.
- 4:03Speaker 2: But we didn't have the pump you up thingy.
- 4:07Speaker 1: To raise the car?
- 4:08Speaker 2: Yeah, we didn't have that. How did you do it?
- 4:10Speaker 1: You lift it?
- 4:12Speaker 2: Yeah. She and I can lift it. No problem. No,
- 4:14Speaker 2: remember we paid the guy 50 bucks.
- 4:15Speaker 1: Oh, that's right. That was a whole story.
- 4:17Speaker 2: Yeah, that was a whole story.
- 4:17Speaker 1: And we thought that was a good deal.
- 4:19Speaker 2: You thought it was a good deal.
- 4:23Speaker 1: Convenience. So you went to a show, they fixed the tire. Boom,
- 4:25Speaker 1: 50 bucks.
- 4:26Speaker 2: The guys in the parking garage.
- 4:27Speaker 1: Yeah. All right. Hit us up. 44363. Add to the
- 4:31Speaker 1: list here. What's a good example of something you should
- 4:34Speaker 1: buy before you need it?
