Transcript
- This is the New Realm Compliance Brief, Volume One, Edition Sixty Three, for Thursday, October Fifteenth. Our top story: Georgia retailers are preparing to pull most hemp-derived THC products from shelves ahead of the federal total THC standard that takes effect December eleventh. Mehrnush Saadat, founder of the Atlanta-area bottle shop Soberish, said nearly her entire inventory would become unsellable under the new definition, and said she expects customers to stock up in advance. Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr has previously supported federal restrictions on intoxicating hemp THC products. At the federal level, an alert from the Vicente law firm lays out the two-step hemp timeline. The ban on synthetic cannabinoids takes effect November twelfth, while the total THC standard and the zero point four milligram per container cap arrive December eleventh. Formulation reviews need to clear the synthetic cannabinoid test first, even though total THC compliance has another month. And at the National Beer Wholesalers Association convention in Orlando, chief executive Craig Purser said clarification and collaboration are needed as beverage alcohol category lines blur. Around the states: Minnesota liquor retailers say they will keep selling hemp THC drinks under state law after the federal deadline. Top Ten Liquors owner Jon Halper said, we will be in the category on December twelfth, though the chain would stop accepting credit cards for those products. In Pennsylvania, Senator Dawn Keefer introduced a hemp bill with a twenty-one plus purchase age, testing, and labeling rules. And in Michigan, Great Lakes Wine and Spirits and partners moved to acquire R N D C's Michigan businesses, pending bankruptcy court approval, with closings targeted between October thirtieth and November fifteenth. On the radar: November twelfth, the federal synthetic cannabinoid ban takes effect. December eleventh, the total THC changeover. And December seventh, comments are due to the Tax and Trade Bureau on sixteen information collections. Full details and source links are in today's email.
