Sixty-three cases of Legionnaires’ disease have been confirmed in the Upper East Side outbreak, with twelve still hospitalized — but no deaths since July 2nd. Health officials warn that the current heatwave creates ideal conditions for the bacteria, which thrives in warm, stagnant water — especially in cooling towers.
