- 0:34Good evening, everyone, and happy Tuesday.
- 0:37Welcome to the Dog Tag Diva podcast.
- 0:40I'm your host, Dog Tag Diva. And with me tonight is my fellow
- 0:43military broadcast radio host with the Moses Amber Dietz.
- 0:48And Amber's podcast is called Into the Weeds.
- 0:51And tonight, we are going to be talking about a really
- 0:55interesting case that is still in the public mainstream of
- 1:00discussion, if you will. We're going to be talking about
- 1:03Gypsy Rose Blanchard this evening and her case and some
- 1:06inside scoop that you may not be aware of and kind of things that
- 1:11are surrounding this really interesting case from multiple
- 1:15perspectives. Welcome, Amber.
- 1:17Thank you for having me. Thank you very much for coming
- 1:20on. I'm always open to new and
- 1:22interesting things and being objective and hearing all sides
- 1:27of the story so that people can form their own opinions.
- 1:30But, you know, this case came to light about 10 years ago, and
- 1:35then it kind of came back into the mainstream as she was doing
- 1:39interviews from prison and then getting out of prison.
- 1:41And now she's out of prison and she's had a, you know, a very
- 1:46tumultuous, if you will, to put it lightly, time since she's got
- 1:52out of prison. But there's a lot of undertones
- 1:54of this story that I'm really interested in talking about with
- 1:57you tonight. OK, well, I'm here.
- 1:59Ask away. I don't know what you know about
- 2:03the case, so why don't we start with that?
- 2:07What do you know about it? Well, so I can remember this
- 2:11story in the news, probably it's, I think it's 10 years ago
- 2:15now, about 2015, this case came out and you know that the mom,
- 2:22Dede Blanchard had been murdered by her daughter and the
- 2:25boyfriend. And that Gypsy, the daughter had
- 2:30spent years thinking that she was quite ill and had all these
- 2:35medical issues from seizures and cancer and etcetera.
- 2:41There was a long list of medical issues that she had and they
- 2:45started out in Louisiana, if I'm remembering correctly.
- 2:49And then mom and dad got divorced and Dee Dee took Gypsy
- 2:56to Missouri. And there was, you know,
- 2:59donations involved and who gave her the house was a Habitat for
- 3:05Humanity that gave her the house.
- 3:06Yeah. So there was a house and
- 3:09wheelchair bound and surgeries and all kinds of things that
- 3:14come along with, you know, have having a child with, you know,
- 3:18multiple chronic illnesses and, you know, trips and clothes and
- 3:23toys and, you know, things that, you know, when you pull at
- 3:28someone's heartstrings, people want to to help.
- 3:31And one of the things that came out at the end of this upon the
- 3:36murder of Dee Dee Blanchard was that Dee Dee had actually lied
- 3:40about all the ailments that Gypsy had and she wasn't ill.
- 3:45And so, yeah, So it's and then, you know, kind of came out that,
- 3:51you know, the Gypsy was involved with the murder of her mom, with
- 3:56the boyfriend that she had met online.
- 3:58And Gypsy wound up going to prison herself for the murder.
- 4:02In addition to the then boyfriend who also went to
- 4:05prison. He is serving a life sentence.
- 4:08And she served. She was sentenced to 10, but I
- 4:12don't believe she did the full 10.
- 4:15No 8 1/2. OK.
- 4:18And then she was released from prison in December of 2023.
- 4:23While she was in prison, she got married and got, you know,
- 4:30released in prison. Husband picks her up.
- 4:32And then they have this tumultuous, you know,
- 4:35continuation of their marriage outside of prison.
- 4:38And then she reconnects with an old boyfriend that she had dated
- 4:41while she was in prison. Or which I don't know how you
- 4:45could consider somebody your boyfriend when you're in prison
- 4:47and you you date, but you don't really date like that.
- 4:50I think we could do a whole another show on women who date
- 4:53men in prison. Pen pal romances in prison.
- 4:58Like the Menendez brothers are married.
- 5:00Like, wait, I know I show for another time.
- 5:05But yeah, she gets married in prison to this one individual
- 5:08and she reconnects with an old boyfriend.
- 5:11She leaves the husband, there's this divorce and then there's
- 5:15then she's pregnant with the new boyfriend.
- 5:17And but there's some weird law in Louisiana that whatever your
- 5:21name is at that time, even if you're divorced, the baby's
- 5:24still going to have that name. So it's a whole thing.
- 5:29Yes. OK.
- 5:33Well, that was a great rundown. So first of all, I would say, so
- 5:42today is actually Nicholas go to John her Co defendant's
- 5:46birthday, his 36th birthday. And I would like everybody to
- 5:53remember that Nicholas is on the spectrum and has autism.
- 5:58And for 2 1/2 years, he was manipulated and he tried very
- 6:04hard to get her not to go along with this plan.
- 6:09And there's a lot of evidence out there showing that he tried
- 6:15to get her to change her mind several times.
- 6:17But also, Gypsy is sick. She has a chromosome deletion
- 6:26disorder or something like that, and it affects a lot of your
- 6:32body. It has given her microcephaly,
- 6:36which is like a small head. Yes.
- 6:40And all kinds of things come along with this medical
- 6:46disorder. And you're a nurse, so do you
- 6:48know anything about that? Not her particular medical, like
- 6:54her chromosomal deletion, but I can say with some semblance of
- 6:58certainty that, you know, when we start, when chromosomes get,
- 7:02you know, messed up for whatever reason, either because we're
- 7:04exposed to something or because we're born with it and it's, you
- 7:07know, a birth defect. It depends on which chromosome
- 7:11is has the issue. And then there may or may not be
- 7:15small or big IT medical issues that will come along with that
- 7:21deletion. And there are so many syndromes
- 7:23out there. I mean, I've been a pediatric
- 7:25nurse, you know, most of my 20th year career as a nurse.
- 7:28And there are some syndromes out there that they don't even have
- 7:31a name for because there's so few people that have it.
- 7:34So, you know, is microcephaly one of those things that can
- 7:37impact, you know, that small head?
- 7:38Yes. And what happens when we have a
- 7:41small head? Will that kind of restricts our
- 7:43brain's ability to grow to its normal potential and capacity?
- 7:48Yeah, so she has a wide range of symptoms.
- 7:53Her eyes are messed up, her digestive system is messed up,
- 7:58and so she is sick. She has been sick her whole
- 8:04life. She was born with it.
- 8:06So up until 2011, she went through multiple doctors and
- 8:14procedures to try and figure out what was wrong with her.
- 8:18And you as a nurse would know. And me as somebody who has been
- 8:24very ill my whole life, sometimes it takes a really long
- 8:29time to get into diagnosis and you have to go through all kinds
- 8:34of medical tests and all kinds of different things in order to
- 8:40diagnose, diagnose the patient. And so that's basically what was
- 8:46happening is that she was going through all of those medical
- 8:49tests to try and figure out what was wrong.
- 8:52And it wasn't until 2011 that they figured out what was wrong.
- 8:58And by 2011 they had pretty much quit going to the doctor as
- 9:05much. So by the time they, yeah, by
- 9:092011, they're kind of backed off from going to the doctor.
- 9:14She's got a feeding tube and she only goes to like the emergency
- 9:20room to actually get it changed. And she doesn't like every six
- 9:24months or something like that. So there's, there's medical
- 9:29evidence showing that they, they backed way off from going to the
- 9:33doctor by 2011. So.
- 9:38Yeah, really interesting. I mean, I just from like my
- 9:41nurse brain has so many questions, you know, and I've
- 9:47been a nurse a long time. I've been a pediatric nurse a
- 9:48long time. I have been around child abusers
- 9:53a long time. I have been around, I believe, 2
- 9:59moms who were Munchausen by proxy and they are a little, you
- 10:05know, they're very good at you. And initially you'll think, wow,
- 10:11they're really on top of their game.
- 10:14They're very medically savvy and they're advocating.
- 10:17And then there's this other side, really OK, They like how
- 10:21much is too much and how, how involved is too involved, you
- 10:26know, and again, I as a pediatric nurse has been around
- 10:29chronically I'll children, it's a variety of syndromes and have
- 10:32had tracheostomies and been on ventilators and had many
- 10:36multiple, you know, medical problems.
- 10:38There's there's a, you know, you, I would be able to tell.
- 10:42Well, I, I would like to think I'd be able to tell with the
- 10:45little minimal exposure that I've had, you know, patients
- 10:48with parents like this, you know, there's a line between,
- 10:52you know, OK, they know a lot and they're savvy and OK, now
- 10:55they know too much and it's getting a little weird, you
- 11:00know, and over time my nursing Spidey sense has kind of
- 11:04developed and sometimes I could just even tell a parent is off
- 11:07just because like my instinct is like something is not right
- 11:09here. But if, you know, she had AG
- 11:13tube and if she was getting fed through the tube, you know, why
- 11:18didn't she have home care? And maybe they declined that
- 11:21which which happens. We've had families that have
- 11:24like, no, we don't need it. We can handle it.
- 11:25This is super simple, you know, if you're, you know, hopping
- 11:29around from doctor to doctor, hospital to hospital, it does
- 11:33make it hard to track some of these things and it makes it
- 11:37hard to pick up on any kind of abuse and neglect situations.
- 11:42You know, 1000 by proxy in and of itself is, you know, it's so
- 11:47like the, the, like the percentage, like the incidence
- 11:51of that. It's really small.
- 11:53Actually, I wrote it down and there's actually so few cases
- 11:57here in the United States, like they can't even quantify it.
- 11:59They actually have to go use statistics from like Ireland and
- 12:02the United Kingdom and things like that nature.
- 12:04So it's really like .5 to 2.8 cases per 100,000 children.
- 12:11Correct and there. Actually was a physician here in
- 12:15Florida who estimate found 15 cases in the state of Florida in
- 12:20one year. And then so nationally that in
- 12:24his mind or her mind, I can't remember, it equates to 262
- 12:28cases in a year in the United States.
- 12:31So that was just one, you know, scientific researcher looking at
- 12:35one state and then kind of extrapolating well based on this
- 12:38incidence in the population and the ratio.
- 12:40This is kind of what we might see here in the United States.
- 12:42But the incidence isn't like it's not a lot.
- 12:46So it in, in a sense it would be hard to pick up on, you know,
- 12:51should you know, especially in this and you know, in this
- 12:54situation. Yeah, but in Munchausen by proxy
- 12:59cases, isn't it correct that the child is usually made sick?
- 13:07They yeah, so they are, you know, and again, there's going
- 13:10to be I'm, you know, as medicine, I always tell people
- 13:13there's always going to be like a one off from like we could say
- 13:15medically, statistically speaking, this is what we see.
- 13:19But I always make room for like, but there's always room for, you
- 13:24know, it it's a rare incidents or a rare case.
- 13:27So, you know, typically they make them sick when they're not
- 13:31sick. But do I think they're you know,
- 13:34it's possible that she was sick and she made her sicker.
- 13:38I that I believe. OK.
- 13:41Yeah. So from everything I have seen
- 13:45and OK, so as I was telling you earlier, most of Gypsy's medical
- 13:53records, especially her time here in Missouri have been
- 13:58released and pretty much everybody has a copy of them
- 14:04that wants them. And I can get you a copy of them
- 14:08if you want them. But what what is shown in the
- 14:13medical records is, is it's more of a malingering more than a, a
- 14:20Munchausen by proxy situation because Gypsy's not being made
- 14:26sick. And if you, if you really look
- 14:29at all of the documents between the medical documents and the
- 14:33court documents, you'll see that a lot of what has been put out
- 14:40there in the media by Gypsy and her team is all false.
- 14:47And so you can't really even go by any of the documentaries or
- 14:52the show or even Gypsy's book, because she has even stated that
- 14:57there are many inaccuracies in the book.
- 15:00And so it's really hard, even with Gypsy herself, to
- 15:07distinguish what's true and what's not.
- 15:11And I believe that in that case, she definitely suffered from
- 15:16abuse by her mom in teaching her how to be like that.
- 15:22You know, the lying, the manipulating, because
- 15:26ultimately, at the end of the day, it was, I believe, in my
- 15:32opinion, I believe Gypsy's mother had a sick child, was a
- 15:38single mother. And it got on that train of
- 15:45getting in with all of the foundations and charities and
- 15:51stuff like that and kind of rolled with it, in my opinion,
- 15:56and took advantage of the system and taught her daughter how to
- 16:03take advantage of the system. And from early on, Gypsy was on
- 16:07stage singing. She was an ambassador for
- 16:12foundations, you know, as a, as a role model for children, even
- 16:16when she was in her 20s. And these people didn't know
- 16:19that, you know, sitting in a wheelchair pretending to be a
- 16:23child that has mental deficiencies.
- 16:29And yeah, it, it, yeah. It was just one long con in my
- 16:34opinion. Yeah, no, I, I kind of, I feel,
- 16:38feel you along along those lines.
- 16:39And you know, typically, you know, they hit a certain age and
- 16:43you can't do it anymore because they they can figure it out,
- 16:46right. So typically we see this in
- 16:48Munchausen and I proxy like in little ones because they don't
- 16:51know any different or better. And you would think that as they
- 16:53age, they kind of figure it out. So how much did her Gypsies
- 16:57chromosomal deletion and the microcephaly, like how much did
- 17:02that play into that? We're going to talk more about
- 17:06the Gypsy Row Blanchard case when we come back right after
- 17:09this break. OK.
- 20:14And we're back and before the break, we were talking about how
- 20:19things unfolded in the Gypsy Rose Blanchard case and Amber
- 20:23and I were talking about how it was kind of 1 long con.
- 20:25And I, I definitely don't disagree with that, you know,
- 20:29and we know that, you know, sometimes you get kind of caught
- 20:32up in that, you know, the, the support and the, the people and
- 20:38how it kind of makes you feel, you know, and being in the
- 20:41limelight. And sometimes people just can't
- 20:44handle being out of it and they want to stay into it.
- 20:46And, you know, like you said, you know, we, we kind of
- 20:49snowball into manipulation and things and then it, you know,
- 20:52before you know it, it's out of control.
- 20:54I mean, we know that, you know, when baby Jessica fell into the
- 20:58well back in the 80s, those of us who were around remember that
- 21:02the gentleman who actually pulled her out of the well
- 21:05actually committed suicide because he, you know, after all
- 21:09the news vans and all the media attention went away.
- 21:11Like he just couldn't live without that spotlight and he
- 21:14actually committed suicide. So I don't.
- 21:17Yeah, I don't disagree that, you know, she kind of got caught up
- 21:20in all of that and kind of was like, OK, well, what do I need
- 21:24to do to keep this up? Because, you know, I kind of
- 21:27like all this attention and all the things that I'm that I'm
- 21:30getting. And the byproduct of that is
- 21:34that Gypsy kind of got caught up in it, you know, and I
- 21:38appreciate you bringing up the fact that, you know, Nicholas
- 21:40Godejean is on the on the spectrum as well, you know, so
- 21:46people are going to ask, you know, and one of the things that
- 21:49I've thought about is why did she, you know, kill her?
- 21:54You know, why didn't she just try to get out?
- 21:57You know, in my mind, as somebody who's the survivor of
- 22:01domestic violence, you don't know how to get out and you're
- 22:04just so afraid. Was that just kind of just she
- 22:07that was the only way she thought to get out?
- 22:09And I'm not condoning it in any way, shape or form, but I
- 22:13almost, you know, it's almost a shame that that was that's what
- 22:17she felt. That was her only way to get
- 22:19away. Because I would have loved to
- 22:21have heard Dee Dee side of the story and in how this whole
- 22:25situation kind of unfolded. Yeah.
- 22:29So I would say that in my opinion, after looking at all of
- 22:39the evidence and all of the court evidence, and I'll
- 22:45actually post it in here, a link to the court documents.
- 22:50There's a link in there to the Google Drive that anybody can
- 22:54access and go through all of the court documents that have been
- 22:58released so far. And we've got more coming out
- 23:02pretty soon. I actually just got an e-mail
- 23:04today from Greene County and they told me that it looks like
- 23:09my files are going to be coming in sooner than I thought.
- 23:13Oh, that's exciting. Yeah.
- 23:15So there's going to be a huge document dump.
- 23:19And I am assuming that it's never been seen before because I
- 23:26when I requested all of this information, I thought all of
- 23:30this information was out, but it turned out it wasn't.
- 23:34So. So I was just kind of asking for
- 23:39it to kind of preserve it for historical purposes because I
- 23:43like history. And so it was more about that
- 23:47for me. But what I'll say is, is that I
- 23:51believe from everything I have seen, Gypsy Gypsy's mother, Dee
- 24:00Dee was extremely sick. She had diabetes, she had gout,
- 24:09she had Parkinson's. If we're to believe what Gypsy
- 24:15says, she was extremely heavy and you could tell the the last
- 24:25video that was released, she was extremely tired and she used
- 24:31that wheelchair, in my opinion, more as a Walker than as a prop,
- 24:41ended up being more like a Walker for her.
- 24:44So she was already, she was extremely sick.
- 24:47And in my opinion, if Gypsy wanted to do something that was
- 24:51painless, like she has said, you know, that she loved her mother
- 24:55and she wanted to do something that was painless, You know, she
- 24:59could have overdosed her on insulin or something like that
- 25:04instead of having her boyfriend stabbed her 17 times.
- 25:10And then also, there's ample evidence to show that Gypsy was
- 25:15online chronically just like she is now back then, and had
- 25:20communication with her dad and her stepmother and had
- 25:24communication with a lot of people and didn't ask for help
- 25:32except for Nicholas. Go to John, the guy who had
- 25:37autism who was easily manipulated.
- 25:41And so I believe that Gypsy wanted to leave, and I'm not
- 25:55sure what her motivation was other than to just get away and
- 26:00live her own life. But if you look at all of the
- 26:04court documents, the life that she describes living with
- 26:07Nicholas is very twisted and evil.
- 26:12And it's not even coming from Nicholas.
- 26:14It's coming from all from Gypsy. And she says some really
- 26:19terrible, vile things in these videos that the police had to
- 26:23watch and these posts and all of this communication back and
- 26:29forth. I mean, extremely vile things
- 26:33and, and it wasn't coming from Nicholas, it was all coming from
- 26:38her. So I don't, I don't know what
- 26:42was going on in the woman's head, but she was a woman.
- 26:44She wasn't a girl. She was 23 years old and.
- 26:52Yeah, You got to wonder, you know, what her life was like up
- 26:56to that point. You know, and I'm, and I'm not
- 27:00judging. I'm, you know, I'm really truly
- 27:02trying to be objective and think, you know, if I was
- 27:04somebody who kind of found out or realized at one point that
- 27:08maybe I'm not really as sick as I'm being made to believe.
- 27:12But she wasn't really exposed to, from the, at least from the
- 27:17outside, exposed to a lot of normalcy in terms of like just
- 27:21getting up, going to school, like she was with her mom all
- 27:25the time. So that relationship was clearly
- 27:28a little dysfunctional. So if she doesn't really have
- 27:32any semblance of what a normal relationship is and then she's
- 27:37seeing she's, you know, basically exposed to, you know,
- 27:41like this the like the Disney and all that kind of stuff and
- 27:45the comic cons and things. But then she's online and she's
- 27:47seeing things. So I'm sure her in her mind, her
- 27:52reality is very different than what all of us experiences.
- 27:56We just going about our day-to-day lives.
- 27:59Again, I'm not excusing her behavior.
- 28:01And I don't think it was right in any way, shape or form.
- 28:04You know, I just kind of wonder, you know, from a psychological
- 28:08standpoint, I find this case fascinating because we never got
- 28:11to hear from Deedee, who clearly had some issues of her own
- 28:14physically and psychologically. And then she has this child
- 28:18who's got, you know, a chronic medical issue that kind of gets
- 28:21compounded. And then, you know, like, so how
- 28:25much does, you know, the chromosomal deletion and the
- 28:28microcephaly and everything else medically wrong with her?
- 28:30How does that all play into this?
- 28:33And, you know, she never has saw, you know, doesn't really
- 28:36remember her parents much. And so, like, she doesn't have
- 28:40examples of healthy relationships.
- 28:43So she was almost kind of set up to fail in a sense.
- 28:47So, you know, am I surprised that this is kind of what she
- 28:52kind of turned into? Not necessarily because we've
- 28:55seen people exposed to less and be worse.
- 28:58And, you know, like, you know, and there's a a documentary on
- 29:01Charles Manson. I can't even watch it.
- 29:03Like, I've gotten through like a couple episodes and I'm like,
- 29:05OK, I'm having nightmares. I have to stop.
- 29:08Yeah, the chaos one. I'm I'm.
- 29:11Stop watching it. It was freaking me out.
- 29:13I had to stop, but you know, so we know that if you don't come
- 29:17from, you know, and but do I know of people who came from,
- 29:21you know, horrible child abuse situations and are completely
- 29:24fine and and functional? Absolutely.
- 29:26So, you know, it's out there. Like the possibility of of
- 29:29normalcy is out there. But you know, do I think she
- 29:34should have gone to prison? Absolutely.
- 29:36Do I think, you know, again, I wasn't in the courtroom and
- 29:41didn't hear all the evidence. So I don't want to pass
- 29:44judgement and say that the punishment was, you know, too
- 29:48harsh or too little. Because again, if I'm not in the
- 29:52courtroom and hearing all the evidence, I find it hard to kind
- 29:55of really have a strong opinion in One Direction or the.
- 29:59Other well, she didn't go to trial.
- 30:01She got a a plea deal. He went to trial.
- 30:05What I will say is as I encourage anybody who actually
- 30:09has questions like that about this whole case to go to that
- 30:13Google Drive, look at the pictures, read the court
- 30:17documents, read the police reports and judge for yourself.
- 30:24Don't, don't take the documentaries, don't take her
- 30:27book, don't take any of that into account.
- 30:30Just read, just read the court documents and you will be
- 30:34shocked. You will be absolutely shocked.
- 30:38And so much to the point that in one of the videos that the one
- 30:45of the detectives watches, Gypsy talks about, I think it's either
- 30:51a video or it's a, a text message something.
- 30:55She talks to Nicholas about how at the age of 6, she had a
- 31:00surgery and she had a major seizure during that surgery and
- 31:08she became like a a paraplegic. And according to her, she
- 31:17pretended not to have feeling and things like that, even to
- 31:25her mom. She was pretending even to her
- 31:28mom, like she was playing up the symptoms and and all of that
- 31:33stuff. So even in the court documents,
- 31:35she talks about how at the age of 6, she made a conscious
- 31:42decision to lie to her mother and everybody else because she
- 31:46was afraid that her mother wouldn't love her and the other
- 31:49people wouldn't love her. And so it's just interesting.
- 31:55I mean, that's just one, one of the things that came out, you
- 31:58know, is like, OK, do we believe, Gypsy, that that's what
- 32:01she did, you know, because it came from her own words or, you
- 32:07know, whatever. So this case is just extremely
- 32:10fascinating when you dig into it.
- 32:12Yeah, I mean, clearly they were codependent on each other and
- 32:17you know, so that's in and of itself.
- 32:20You know, again, I wish she would have just walked away.
- 32:24I mean, she was an adult. She could have just walked away
- 32:28'cause I, you know, I think I would definitely would have
- 32:30liked to have heard Dee Dee side, you know, the good, the
- 32:34bad and the ugly. And then, you know, they could
- 32:38have either said, Hey, we're we can never be around each other
- 32:41again, or they could have worked it out.
- 32:43You know, I do, you know, I, I'm will full on admit that I do
- 32:47watch, you know, their life out of prison.
- 32:49I watched, you know, the, the TV shows Gypsy Rose Blanchard.
- 32:52And do I agree with all the horrible, nasty things that
- 32:57people are saying about her on social media?
- 33:00Absolutely not 'cause I don't think that's right or fair to
- 33:02trash her. When, when again, we don't know
- 33:05the whole story, especially if you haven't seen all the
- 33:07information that's out there and, you know, made it, you
- 33:10know, an educated decision. So I do think it's horrible some
- 33:13of the things that people are saying I do.
- 33:18On that note, so I have a rebuttal to that because
- 33:23unfortunately I have become immersed in the Gypsy verse
- 33:29basically of what it is, and I don't pay near as much attention
- 33:35as most other people do. But there's a lot of really bad
- 33:41toxic stuff going on in the Gypsy verse.
- 33:47And what I mean by that is, is that there's like a whole
- 33:50discord. The Gypsy and her best friend
- 33:54are involved in that run and they dox creators and they dox
- 33:59subscribers. Literally, they're doxing
- 34:03people. Is that the friend that's been
- 34:05that's been on the dock, the show at the?
- 34:08Bree. Bree.
- 34:09Yeah, that's her name. Yep.
- 34:11Yeah, I'm, I saw that one episode.
- 34:13I'm like, if you were really her friend, why are you enabling
- 34:18her? Oh, it's, it's really bad.
- 34:21The woman will be on a live for 16 hours straight defending
- 34:26Gypsy constantly. And then she's got all of these
- 34:30side characters. There's this old woman named
- 34:34Dreamer Craft Corner that is absolutely ridiculous.
- 34:38She's a racist, she's a bigot, she's just an absolutely
- 34:43horrible human being. And there's just all of these
- 34:47side characters that are involved with Gypsy in this
- 34:51Discord and on TikTok that are actually making people's lives
- 34:56miserable. They've got pictures of people's
- 34:58homes, they've got the names of people's kids, all kinds of
- 35:03stuff. It's really bad and I am
- 35:11extremely disappointed in the fact that.
- 35:15So when I heard about Gypsy and I heard that she was in prison
- 35:19with my cousin, my cousin and I initially started praying for
- 35:23her. That's how we initially, that's
- 35:27how I started, went into. The situation, yeah.
- 35:29Yes, I started praying for her. We were concerned about, you
- 35:33know, was she being taken care of?
- 35:35You know, was she being abused again, you know, because people
- 35:40will go into the system and repeatedly get abused.
- 35:44And so we were extremely concerned about that.
- 35:47So my cousin started asking questions, you know, and we
- 35:51didn't really get much before she went out, before she got out
- 35:55of prison. But like 2 days before she got
- 35:58out of prison, she said that she wanted to go see Taylor Swift.
- 36:03And it wasn't a oh, I want to go see Taylor Swift.
- 36:08No, it was I want to go meet Taylor Swift.
- 36:12And in my mind that was just repeating the same thing over
- 36:17and over. You know, she was, she was
- 36:20meeting the cast of Harry Potter, she was meeting Miranda
- 36:23Lambert and all of these famous people and she was up on stage
- 36:27singing. And now she just wants to
- 36:33continue that, but on a larger scale.
- 36:37Yeah, I, I find it, you know, this whole, like you said, this
- 36:40whole thing is fascinating. And you know, if it were me, and
- 36:45again, I'm kind of an A well adjusted, well, well, totally
- 36:49well adjusted adult that you know, you didn't, you know, you
- 36:54married this guy when you were in prison.
- 36:56You got out, you moving together, you it's not what you
- 36:58thought it was going to be. Well, well, no shit.
- 37:00Like you married him in prison and you live in another and
- 37:03you've never lived with a man. So of course there's going to be
- 37:05bumps in the road and you changed your mind.
- 37:06OK, fine. But then the back and forth the
- 37:09two of them have and then she has the baby.
- 37:12Like, can you drive 3 1/2 hours to the hospital to sign this
- 37:16consent form? And like what first of all,
- 37:18block him let your loyals lawyers deal with the shit and
- 37:22be done with it. Like I just the, you know, like
- 37:26you said, like she wants to be have like 1 toe in the pools for
- 37:31the, the pool of drama. Like she's, she never wants to
- 37:35like get herself out of it completely.
- 37:37And like the father and the stepmother like just don't
- 37:41engage and she does it anyway. The father says, Hey, Ken's back
- 37:46in your life, just use protection and she gets knocked
- 37:48up right away. It's like, Oh my God, like give
- 37:51yourself a chance to just be out and be single and like you, you
- 37:58know, you have like a life of neglect and abuse and trauma and
- 38:03then you go to prison. Like you're coming out like you
- 38:05should be hide. Like not that you should be
- 38:07hiding, but just live your life. Do like I want to like who's her
- 38:12therapist? Oh my God, I just want to ask
- 38:14like what did they, he or she doing?
- 38:16Well, and that's the thing. When she was in prison, she
- 38:19swears up and down that she couldn't get therapy because she
- 38:23was too healthy for therapy. But my cousin's in there.
- 38:28She's in a whole wing where it's called women's empowerment, you
- 38:33know, and they focus on codependency and they focus on,
- 38:38you know, being a better person. And Gypsy only took the one
- 38:43class that she was supposed to take, the victim's impact class.
- 38:48And she basically spent her time causing chaos and watching TV
- 38:55while she was in prison, not bettering herself, you know, And
- 38:59she was setting up her life to come out and be an influencer.
- 39:04You know, there was no. Gypsy has never taken the time
- 39:13to figure out who Gypsy is and work on all of her issues.
- 39:20It's always about codependency. And just like with this baby, I
- 39:24mean, she was, she was stealing baby clothes and, and naming
- 39:30babies when she was with Nicholas, you know, and planning
- 39:34on getting pregnant. That was her plan a was to get
- 39:38pregnant by Nicholas. And that's how she would escape
- 39:41her mother. And then when she was with Ryan,
- 39:45she was trying to get pregnant and she was buying baby clothes,
- 39:48you know, and then as soon as she gets with her, with Ken, she
- 39:52gets pregnant, you know, 'cause they said, you know, they were
- 39:55with each other 12 times in four days, you know, so.
- 40:01I mean, and the sister, bless her, it like, you know, who's
- 40:04just graduated, became a nurse, like she initially thinks she's
- 40:08pregnant with Ryan and the sister takes her to the drug
- 40:10store to get Plan B like you. So you knew where you could have
- 40:15gone, you could have bought condoms, you could have gone on
- 40:18birth control. Like that would have made the
- 40:20most sense, right? Like just I'm going to go on
- 40:22birth control because I'm going to be having sex and I need to
- 40:25focus on me and learning who I am without my mother, without
- 40:30the abuse and trauma, not in prison.
- 40:33Like figure out who you are and heal and then do you could still
- 40:39live your life and get the tattoos and dye your hair, but
- 40:43figure out who you are and stand on your own 2 feet.
- 40:46And it it does seem, you know, she's got a bit of her mother in
- 40:50her because, you know, as we kind of alluded to, like the mom
- 40:53got caught up in all the attention and the foundations
- 40:57and the stuff. And then now it seems like she
- 40:59Gypsy is just kind of wanting to keep continue that.
- 41:03Because if it were me, I want to step back in the limelight and
- 41:07get out of the way. And, you know, even, you know,
- 41:10she had that book signing and they had to have security all
- 41:12over the place because people were threatening her and things.
- 41:15And you know they were. Threatening her.
- 41:17So I even watched. OK, so at that book signing, OK,
- 41:27Sir Morbidex is a YouTube and I follow him and he's funny.
- 41:33He's more of like a Howard Stern kind of shock jock type guy.
- 41:37He's, he's really funny, you know, and so he set up that,
- 41:42that whole protest basically, and what it was, was just a
- 41:47couple of people outside. One woman went inside and, and
- 41:52bought a ticket and she wanted to actually, you know, get in
- 41:56line and talk to Gypsy or whatever.
- 41:58That was just one woman. But the rest of them, they're
- 42:02only like 3 or 4 of them that were actually outside.
- 42:05And they just had signs saying Justice for DD.
- 42:08And it was a live stream. The whole thing was live stream.
- 42:11So if anybody wants to go check it out, it's on Sir Morbinex.
- 42:17And that was just, it was it was made to be something bigger than
- 42:20it was. And even that YouTube that drove
- 42:23past her house. Yeah.
- 42:24Well, Gypsy wasn't home when that actually happened and she
- 42:30wasn't calling out Gypsy. She was calling out Gypsy
- 42:33Stepmother. So they they twist the whole,
- 42:40they twist everything. You know, that's just how it's
- 42:43expected to be, but you know it. She brings most of all of this
- 42:50stuff on herself. If she would just have gotten
- 42:54out of prison, gone and lived her life quietly, worked on
- 42:58herself, people would have given her the benefit of the doubt.
- 43:04But because she has come out and tried to literally destroy lives
- 43:11online, you know, I, I can't stand behind her.
- 43:17I can't, I can't give her the benefit of the doubt anymore.
- 43:21And it's unfortunate, but I can't.
- 43:25Yeah. I mean, it's I do think that,
- 43:28you know, the back and forth between her and Ryan I thought
- 43:32was way too much like and, and that's on him too.
- 43:35I mean, the, the two of them again have this codependent
- 43:38relationship and he's like, oh, I still miss her and I still
- 43:41love her. I'm like, dude, get a grip like
- 43:44a grown ass man, get a grip. Go to work.
- 43:47It will be OK like. But she's sending him pictures
- 43:51of her and her baby, and she was swearing online this whole time
- 43:57that he wasn't doing it, or I mean, that she wasn't doing it
- 44:01and that he was reaching out to her.
- 44:04But then all of this evidence comes out that she was actually
- 44:07reaching out to him and sending him pictures of her and her
- 44:10baby. I mean, that's so messed.
- 44:12Up. I know it's.
- 44:14And. A lot of twisted things going
- 44:16on. I'm like, Oh my God, that baby.
- 44:20And the timeline, OK, so usually when you're pregnant, you get
- 44:26your first sonogram around your 4th month usually, because
- 44:30that's when you can start telling, you know, if it's a boy
- 44:33or a girl. And I don't know how it is
- 44:37nowadays, but at least when I had my kids 20 years ago, that's
- 44:41how it was, you know? So by June 5th, Gypsy had
- 44:48already sent a picture of the sonogram to the prison and I
- 44:55found out that she was pregnant. But in her book she says that
- 45:00she found out she was pregnant on June 10th, which is her the
- 45:07day that her mother died. Well, actually her mother died
- 45:09June 9th, but she says June 10th.
- 45:13And so if she found out on June 10th, but I found out on June
- 45:205th that she had already had a sonogram, did she find out she
- 45:25was pregnant with a sonogram? Because that's just weird.
- 45:31So I'm thinking about the timeline, you know what I mean?
- 45:34Yeah. I mean, I will tell you now that
- 45:37nowadays you can have, you know, an ultrasound, you know,
- 45:41earlier, especially if you miss a period, you know, maybe you're
- 45:44having some spotting, maybe there's some concerns.
- 45:48So they can do them earlier. But that's just to give you a
- 45:51guesstimate of how far along you are.
- 45:52And they're, you know, you know, are you, do we see a sack?
- 45:55Do we see things progressing? You know, do they do anatomy
- 45:58scan about 16 to 20 weeks based on, you know, your pregnancy,
- 46:02are you high risk or not? But yeah, I mean, that timeline
- 46:08was, you know, I always, you know, as a medical person, I,
- 46:13that's the thing that I always go to is the timeline.
- 46:17You know, I do kind of feel as though she and Ken should have
- 46:21known better and should have used protection.
- 46:23Like it just came out of prison. You're just reconnecting.
- 46:27Get just buy some frigging condoms at the, you know, at the
- 46:31local, you know, drugstore and like protect yourself like
- 46:35you've been out of prison not even a year.
- 46:38Like this was not the time for that to happen.
- 46:40Things will come in time, but just give again, give yourself
- 46:44that chance for healing and to live your life and figure you
- 46:47out and not throw more drama into it.
- 46:50And you wouldn't have this Ryan last name drama with the baby.
- 46:58It's like watch that episode of Teen Mom.
- 46:59Like dear God. Yeah, no, it it's gotten.
- 47:05So the first season was extremely boring and I
- 47:08completely checked out of it. And then the second season has
- 47:12gotten better, but it's only because they're actually
- 47:16starting to expose her manipulation more.
- 47:20And so it's like, oh, OK, I can, I can see where you're going
- 47:23with that. But unfortunately they didn't do
- 47:25enough. So you know it is what it is.
- 47:30Father and stepmother are well-intentioned individuals.
- 47:36I just want to ask why does he always have his headphones on?
- 47:39Like why can't you take them off for a couple of minutes?
- 47:43So the stepmom is not well-intentioned.
- 47:47She is just as active online, participating in the gossip and
- 47:53the toxicity online. The dad, he's just kind of go
- 47:59with the flow out on the boat, you know, kind of mentality.
- 48:05So yeah, unfortunately the stepmother is immersed in all
- 48:09the drama as well. Super interesting case.
- 48:17It is. So what it Where do you want to
- 48:20see things go, or where do you think they should?
- 48:24What direction do you think they should be heading?
- 48:28So I mean, ideally she's not going to go back to prison
- 48:39unless she messes up within the next few days.
- 48:43I mean, because she gets off of parole I think June 15th or
- 48:46something like that. So ideally, what I would like to
- 48:53see is, is I would like to see her go off and live her life and
- 49:00be productive offline, find, get involved in her community and,
- 49:09you know, make a life for that baby that is out of the
- 49:16spotlight. I mean, she swore that she would
- 49:18never put her baby online, but the baby's online chronically
- 49:22now. So it's like, what the heck?
- 49:26You're just, you're doing exactly what you accused your
- 49:30mother of doing, exploiting you. Yeah, I don't follow her on
- 49:35social media so but I I would have to agree.
- 49:37Like, I wish that she would just kind of just take a step back
- 49:41out of social media, get you, you know, get offline, tell, you
- 49:44know, Bree and you know, anybody else.
- 49:48And same thing with Ryan. Like he should back off too and
- 49:51stay away. Like just stay everybody, go to
- 49:54your corners and live your quiet lives and just take care of that
- 49:58baby 'cause like that's my big concern.
- 50:01You know, especially as a a pediatric nurse who's seen a lot
- 50:04of child abuse and neglect and I've seen a lot of kids die and
- 50:07parents do horrible, horrible things to their children.
- 50:09And I would like Gypsy to take care of herself and find herself
- 50:14so that she can be the best mom that she can be for for Aurora
- 50:20and, you know, so that Aurora doesn't, you know, suffer and
- 50:24get caught in in the crossfire. You know, and can, you know, I
- 50:30something's not right. Like I can't put my finger on
- 50:34it, but I just, well, my friend is tingling with him.
- 50:39I'm like, I don't know what's going on here.
- 50:41Like I don't think he's like bad, but I don't think he's
- 50:44good. Like there's something off.
- 50:46Well, first he wrote a prisoner and then fell in love with her.
- 50:51And not just any ordinary prisoner, but a prisoner who
- 50:54murdered her mother and manipulated somebody into doing
- 50:59it. And she looked like she was, you
- 51:03know, 14 years old and a shaved head and all that stuff.
- 51:08So it's kind of weird, you know, that him and Ryan would write
- 51:13her. So yes, he is definitely weird
- 51:16on that front. I believe that Ken is the only
- 51:20person who's not afraid of her in her life, honestly, 'cause
- 51:27he's the only one that stands up to her.
- 51:30But I don't think that they love each other.
- 51:34I don't think they even like each other half the time.
- 51:38That's just apparent from the show, the way they interact.
- 51:42It's just not ideal at all. Yeah.
- 51:46And I can't. Like I don't want to say he's on
- 51:49the spectrum, but he's close to it in my opinion.
- 51:55Oh, you're the they people just started asking that question
- 51:59recently. Is he?
- 52:02Like I, I'm like he's, but he's, he's got a job.
- 52:05Like he's very obviously he's got a decent car.
- 52:08He drives like he seems like you said, like he seems like he's
- 52:12kind of together, like he's not a hot mess.
- 52:14Yeah, he's a foodie. He even attempted a beef
- 52:17Wellington, which is. He's what?
- 52:24But again, I'm like, I can't. And then you have Ryan, bless
- 52:29his little soul, who's just falling apart from this, and
- 52:33another one who's just, he probably, you know, the
- 52:35codependency is just the whole thing.
- 52:40You know you want. To do a psychological study and
- 52:42codependency, just look at Ryan and Gypsy.
- 52:47Yes, yes, exactly. And I mean, it's it's textbook
- 52:50totally. And with Ken, though, I think he
- 52:55I think he has some anger issues because in the last episode or
- 53:01the episode before that, he was even yelling at his mom, you
- 53:05know, and it's like you're going to yell at your mom on national
- 53:08TV. That's kind of weird, you know,
- 53:11So, And he wasn't even like, he was just saying, you know, I
- 53:16don't care about these people, you know, and they're going to
- 53:19make up everything. But, you know, the way he was
- 53:22speaking to his mom was not OK. So when when you're comfortable
- 53:29speaking to your mom like that on camera, what are you doing
- 53:34when the cameras are off? Right.
- 53:37So do you think as someone who's watched the documentary and
- 53:44you've watched the TV show and you've also got inside
- 53:47information as as someone who is from that area and has seen, you
- 53:52know, additional documents that a lot of people probably haven't
- 53:54seen? Like what do you how accurate is
- 53:58the portrayal of her on the TV show versus what you think is
- 54:03her true personality? So I think you kind of really do
- 54:11see her true personality shine through because she if you
- 54:17listen to the things she says and watch the things she does,
- 54:23you know her, her true personality does shine through.
- 54:26But as far as like the overall media portrayal of Gypsy, it is
- 54:33absolutely inaccurate. It it is so far inaccurate.
- 54:38It's it's sad and it's kind, you know, especially the fact that
- 54:44there is an autistic man in prison for life without parole.
- 54:51You know, he deserves to be there, you know, But at the same
- 54:56time, like you brought up Manson earlier, Manson manipulated
- 55:04people into murdering people. That's essentially what Gypsy
- 55:10did. She manipulated A vulnerable
- 55:15person to commit murder, and Manson manipulated vulnerable
- 55:22people to commit murder. Yeah, I, you know, I do have to
- 55:35wonder and think about, you know, some of the things that,
- 55:39you know, as I was, you know, as I'm watching the show and I'm
- 55:41going, I don't know if I would have done that.
- 55:44Like just you're out of prison, you know, there's a lot of
- 55:49negativity about you in the press and on social media.
- 55:55And is this how we should be handling this?
- 55:58Like, I question, you know, a lot of the things that she does
- 56:02and some of those things being the breeze response and
- 56:06reactions to things. And I'm defending.
- 56:07And listen, I get it. Like I have a couple besties
- 56:10that I would probably die for, but I'm not sure that that's the
- 56:14way to go about join it. And like you said, I just wish
- 56:18she would maybe get off of social media and just go live
- 56:24your life quietly and just be exist and take care of you and
- 56:30your daughter. And you know, it's almost like
- 56:34she needs to be in a relationship because she does
- 56:38not know how to take care of herself and she needs to be
- 56:40cared for. And that's why she married Ryan.
- 56:45And knowing that she would come out of prison and someone would
- 56:47take care of her and then realize, OK, this isn't the
- 56:50right guy. We're not really Jelly and
- 56:52living together and I'm going to go with this guy, but I really
- 56:55want a baby. So I'll have a baby and then I
- 56:58can take care of the baby. But again, who's going to be
- 57:01taking care of her and the baby is still the question.
- 57:03And she needs to figure out how to take care of her Dang self.
- 57:06Yeah, well, I mean, if you even watch the show.
- 57:10So I watch it with other people 'cause they stream it on TikTok
- 57:14on Mondays. Conspiracy.
- 57:18Go check out Conspiracy. She's the one that does that.
- 57:21And yeah, So what you notice is, is that she's got signs all over
- 57:28the house telling her what to do or telling Ken what to do.
- 57:33And it's like signs that are like really weird, like after
- 57:39three minutes burp or whatever, I can't remember everything but
- 57:43it, it's just like a normal person wouldn't do that.
- 57:47Maybe they would make a checklist or something like
- 57:50that, but not put up signs all over the house to remind them
- 57:57about what to do with the baby. It's very odd.
- 58:03So she does not know how to take care of herself, let alone her
- 58:07baby. Yeah, I, I think that, you know,
- 58:09that would be, you know what I would hope for that she learns
- 58:13how to focus, to take care of that baby and do right by that
- 58:17baby because you are in the public eye and it won't take but
- 58:21that quick somebody makes a phone call.
- 58:23Do you know Department of Child Services?
- 58:25And they have. Been.
- 58:27They have been and that's the that's the sad thing too is, is
- 58:32that when it comes to Gypsy, people will call her parole
- 58:37officer or they'll call DCF to the point now where if something
- 58:42really does happen, are they going to take it seriously?
- 58:46Right. And so I wish people would be
- 58:52more responsible, more adults when they're dealing with this
- 58:57situation and try to see it from a logical standpoint, But
- 59:03unfortunately emotions get way crazy when it comes to stuff
- 59:07like this. Right.
- 59:09Well, Gypsy, if you're listening, we will, you know,
- 59:12pray for you and your baby and that you have good health and in
- 59:17your future endeavors. And thank you again, Amber, for
