- 0:06Hello. What's your least favorite scary
- 0:08movie? Welcome to ancient Wizards can
- 0:16do me the podcast, right? Talk about the good, the bad,
- 0:20the ugly, and the Absurd, and all our favorite, and least,
- 0:23favorite scary movie, because we believe every horror movie
- 0:26rightfully, has its fanbase, even if we don't always get it.
- 0:29My name is Travis. My name is Jessie.
- 0:32And today, we are talking the campy ass 80s movie, slasher,
- 0:37the mutilator, and or as Jesse would like for you to call Fall
- 0:42break, literally nowhere in the entire movie.
- 0:46Is it indicated that I was called the mutilator?
- 0:48That is true and never does. They never once say the word
- 0:52mutilate, you know, enter mutilated mutilates.
- 0:56Mutilating they say, fall Brickell.
- 0:58What they say fall break that. It's there's a whole theme song
- 1:01and we do get a title card that reads fall break.
- 1:05So I think I win I think you do and then I think you don't you
- 1:10know what I will have. Stories to tell about this here
- 1:13in the coming episode, very hopeful that you have.
- 1:18The reasoning but I didn't name change.
- 1:19I absolutely have the reason behind, but yes, we are going to
- 1:23be talking this movie today. But before we get into any
- 1:26discussion, Jessie, do you have any announcements this past
- 1:29Sunday? We released our first ever to be
- 1:31or not to be bonus episode where we covered a movie from, to
- 1:36that. We found on TV, that neither of
- 1:37us had ever seen before something, that sounded
- 1:42interesting like something, we'd be into and we decided to watch
- 1:45it and see if it was something that We were into so that is on
- 1:50a regular stream, is something that we want to do about once a
- 1:52month. That's a nice little like
- 1:54spin-off series that we're doing.
- 1:56Yeah, we're still finding our groove with it, but I think it
- 1:59was fun. We have like five brain cells
- 2:04left collectively between the two of us after Double featuring
- 2:07that movie with this movie. Yeah.
- 2:10And we're recording these episodes back-to-back, so things
- 2:13might get a little weird today. Yeah, we had an interesting
- 2:17strategy. G for this.
- 2:18We watched both movies back to back and then immediately jumped
- 2:21into back-to-back recordings of both of them.
- 2:23Yeah, so weird place, mentally really are.
- 2:27It's strange and probably going to go watch Twilight after this,
- 2:30too. Just to keep the weird Vibes
- 2:32going, we've got a lot of stuff on the plate.
- 2:34We do we have, you know, so many movies is our anniversary
- 2:36weekend and we just been watching all of our favorites
- 2:39because that's what you do. That's what you do.
- 2:41Yeah, last night. Let's see, we watch the first
- 2:43Twilight movie and then we watched X, and then we watched
- 2:46role, too. We still need to watch
- 2:49hereditary at some point because our how's it shaking?
- 2:52Not scared. They have a 3D printer.
- 2:54They made Travis. Yes of pavings crown.
- 2:58It did. That was so cool of them.
- 3:00You guys are awesome. I can't thank you enough.
- 3:03I will repay you. Yeah they wouldn't take payment
- 3:07but guess what jokes on them? I'm going to subscribe to their
- 3:09patreon. So high that was the long con
- 3:12this genuinely nice people. Yeah, it was awesome.
- 3:19So that's on our list and also Sleepaway Camp three because one
- 3:23we watch Sleepaway Camp to last weekend, or was it earlier this
- 3:27weekend has been a four-day weekend?
- 3:29We watched alas. Oh, man.
- 3:31And then also the blonde guy and this movie makes me think Bobby.
- 3:35The class presidents is a so your underprivileged cone.
- 3:39Yeah. He's got the same like him.
- 3:41Both lives to him. Yes.
- 3:44Yeah. That was a lot of announcements
- 3:46to really say, nothing wasn't real.
- 3:47Any announcements we were just like, oh yeah, we want to be
- 3:49watching this tonight. We might be, we did a bonus
- 3:52episode. I know, I know that was yes,
- 3:55that was that was part of the announcement.
- 3:57Hey I have another announcement Travis well, fuck you.
- 4:01Okay. Well I'm glad that that's we
- 4:03should end on that and on the good one there.
- 4:05Yeah. All right, well, I will talk
- 4:09about the pole for lasting screaming as you guys remember.
- 4:12We had a very special episode in honor of our anniversary.
- 4:15We talked about what Of our favorite movies?
- 4:18Yes, this is the n. And the question that we asked
- 4:22everybody is, how would you spend your time during the
- 4:24apocalypse? Notice how we didn't ask if
- 4:26anybody agreed with us that it's were comedy because it's not a
- 4:30baby really is working. Yeah, we're not that this seem
- 4:33too obvious for discussion. Yeah, since you obviously didn't
- 4:36want to do that so I wanted to find out what you guys wanted to
- 4:40do and So 20% on Twitter said that they would form a gang of
- 4:45cannibals. Nice.
- 4:47Thirty percent say that they would dehydrate for
- 4:50masturbation. If you've seen the movie, you
- 4:52understand it. I don't know if that's a
- 4:54legitimate thing, but and 50% says that they would make movies
- 4:59with their Pals, on Instagram 14% with form.
- 5:05A group with the cannibals, 57%, with dehydrate, for masturbation
- 5:1129% would make movies with their fries, the yellow on Instagram,
- 5:15Instagram, Scott, the horny people that I just Pictures.
- 5:19They would be jacking off all to the Instagram pictures.
- 5:22Twitter's more about literature. Yeah, you read that shit.
- 5:26Some people are into that. Yeah, that's the pole.
- 5:29Well, it's tough. All right, so let's talk about
- 5:33fall break. Aka the mutilator?
- 5:35It, is that better. Does that work for you?
- 5:37Are you happy? Are you fucking happy?
- 5:39I am okay, because I don't want any more of that bullshit from
- 5:42you, the rest of this episode 0, you will get bullshit and you
- 5:45will like it sir. So this movie released in 1984,
- 5:52on his first release this movie has multiple releases.
- 5:55Oh my God, is it like fucking What's the movie that we love so
- 6:00much? The Thanksgiving 11, right?
- 6:02Yeah. Thank you.
- 6:03Yeah. You know what, in all honesty
- 6:05this movie has a very similar story that blood rage had its
- 6:09directed by directed and written by Buddy.
- 6:12Cooper, nice name. It is.
- 6:14This is his one and only movie he made this movie and then he
- 6:21okay, oh I guess our theme today is just hit and runs this guy.
- 6:25Okay. Well first of all, There is
- 6:28going to be a mutilator 2. Says who wins says him this year
- 6:34last month. He tweeted that they finished
- 6:37filming. They announced that they were
- 6:38going to start filming in December last year.
- 6:41There is a sequel. Oh, my God.
- 6:43So I'll get into the story about that when we get to the budget
- 6:46in the gross and all that stuff, but came out October 5th 1984.
- 6:51So this movie, originally had an X rating when it released.
- 6:56So, it always shit. How much got cut from it?
- 7:00What we saw was the X-rated version.
- 7:02What? Yes, what was x-rated about it.
- 7:06The it was a lot of the kills they had to like, cut down the
- 7:09cables. Okay.
- 7:11I will say Gap through the vag. Yes, that's pretty intense.
- 7:15Yes, that is one of the major ones.
- 7:16That's like the most iconic, killing the whole movie.
- 7:18But this movie. Yeah.
- 7:20So it came out in 84 in New York City.
- 7:24And it had a pretty good little opening, you know what?
- 7:28Let's just go ahead and get the budget out of the way, is a
- 7:30budget or bucks, head back Ted. Okay.
- 7:33How bad we booked a gig? Do you think because between 3
- 7:36and 5mil? Wow, no way off, there's not
- 7:40even like a queer estimation of how much this movie costs but it
- 7:45ranges from 450 thousand to a million.
- 7:48Wow. That's like honestly, I said
- 7:50that because of the effects of the can do really?
- 7:51Yeah, the effects are pretty interesting.
- 7:55They're just impressive honestly, considering the budget
- 7:57that they had a, I think they got lucky kind of like, with
- 8:01blood rage, you know, very cheap movie, very good effects and it
- 8:04wasn't cranberry sauce, it was not cranberry sauce.
- 8:08So yeah, it came out in New York, it's made about 500
- 8:12thousand dollars in its opening weekend.
- 8:14It charted at number 13 in the weekly charts at its best, but
- 8:18it could not get a very wide release because of the X rating
- 8:22anytime that they would contact movie theaters.
- 8:23They Not do any promotions because they don't want to
- 8:26promote it. An X rating.
- 8:27It was very much associated with pornography so which is ironic
- 8:35because we see two TTS. Yeah, that's it.
- 8:39Yeah. There's not a lot of boobs in
- 8:41this movie. Yeah.
- 8:42We see Linda's tatas. Are we see makes mentat has it
- 8:50was see, a couple of other men's I thought.
- 8:52Yeah. Like Ralph houses like keep
- 8:53filming. Science.
- 8:55Yeah, one point he does I believe Ed does as well.
- 8:59Yeah, I think he does. They all you get, you know what
- 9:02I'm in? It was out there, but okay, so
- 9:04they're also released in La as an x-rated film.
- 9:07But yeah, they couldn't get that wide release, those crazy
- 9:10liberals out, west. I know they're gonna allowed
- 9:13x-ray. So, they decided that this movie
- 9:18needed to have a new cut to be able to distribute out into the
- 9:25wild. So they cut away the kills down
- 9:28by, what I Like this movie is 86 minutes as is.
- 9:32And I really like, I mean, some of the tools are graphic that I
- 9:35can't imagine how much they could afford to cut.
- 9:39They just cut a lot of the blood.
- 9:40I think it's what it was. I mean, like the kills, that's
- 9:43it. I think it's a testament to the
- 9:45effects in this movie because the facts are the Highlight
- 9:48here. I feel like this is almost like
- 9:50a glorified real for and effects artists honestly, but so they
- 9:55did that also, I think before this This.
- 9:59So it was originally created as fall break, but whenever they
- 10:05had the movie ready, he brought it to the Distribution Company
- 10:09is like okay, we're ready to Market this thing.
- 10:10We've got the radio spots. A TV spots were ready to go.
- 10:13He showed it to all of them, the head of the places like this is
- 10:16all bullshit. This all sucks.
- 10:18We have to do a major overhaul on all of this.
- 10:21So they know what some people in New York and came up with a
- 10:23whole new name for the mutilator.
- 10:26That's what stuck they redid. The boxart The posterior all
- 10:30that stuff. So, they had a straight-up
- 10:32rebranded because fall break wasn't really, what was enticing
- 10:38as like a movie, which thoughts on that?
- 10:40When we get to it, they had a whole plan to do sequels with
- 10:44this like the sequel to. This was going to be spring
- 10:48break, but they, they had already.
- 10:52There was already a movie release called spring break, so
- 10:54they're like, yeah, that's already kind of like, fall
- 10:56through, so yeah. Yeah, let's go on with the cast
- 11:00and crew here. Okay.
- 11:01I do, you want to throw this out there that if you were not in
- 11:05New York or LA in 1984, because it is, in fact, the year of Our
- 11:10Lord 2022, you can watch the x-rated version of this movie on
- 11:16Daddy shutter. That's true.
- 11:18You can also stream it through to be another one of our
- 11:21favorites. YouTube TV Prime sling TV prime
- 11:25or prime prime 0, not prime premium, which would be shot.
- 11:29Yeah. Yeah.
- 11:31Or you can rent it through YouTube or Google Play.
- 11:33Yeah. There's a lot of options.
- 11:34You can watch it for free like, you know, fucking do it man.
- 11:37It's it is obscure. But is entertaining enough.
- 11:42Yeah, I'll share my thoughts on a second.
- 11:45Okay, so let me get through the rest of the details here, so
- 11:47cast and crew. All right, so special effects on
- 11:49this. The guy that did that
- 11:51responsible for us, his name is Mark, showst room.
- 11:54The music is by somebody named Michael, I'm gonna say Minyard.
- 11:59But it also looks like it could be pronounced Menard.
- 12:01Nice, we have the cast here. So Matt Miller, he plays Eddie
- 12:05jr. The son of the killer, in this
- 12:07movie, I loved it. Sounded bad that I should have
- 12:12been his name in this. Everybody should refer to him as
- 12:14son of. Honestly, here's the thing that
- 12:16fucked me up. Is he looks like a Ralph and
- 12:19there's another character named Ralph and yeah, it fucked with
- 12:22me the entire time he's moving. I think Eddie jr.
- 12:25Is probably my favorite character in his whole movie.
- 12:27I think he's the best actor. Out of all of them, we have Ruth
- 12:32Martinez play, spam, which is at Juniors love interest.
- 12:37We have emphasis on interest. Yes, it's very much a one-sided.
- 12:43Well, almost one-sided relationship.
- 12:47We have Bill Hitchcock, who plays Ralph there's your Ralph
- 12:49right there. Wow.
- 12:51Ralph is the comedian. He likes to joke around with
- 12:53people. He is pretty obnoxious.
- 12:55Fuck that guy, we have Connie Rogers.
- 12:58Who plays Sue which is Ralph's girlfriend.
- 13:02We have Francis Reigns who plays Glinda and morio Lampley.
- 13:07Boys mic, which is the guy that you keep thinking is the guy
- 13:11from Slumber Party Massacre 3 Sleepaway Camp 3.
- 13:15Wee boy came three. That's right.
- 13:17The was to RTC easily, interchangeable.
- 13:20No, not entitle wise way better than the other though.
- 13:22That's true. And last but not least, we have
- 13:24Jack Chatham as bigger. That's the same in this movie is
- 13:29bigger because he's referred to that one time.
- 13:32So he's credited as big at. That's I'm not gonna lie, that's
- 13:36how I referred to Um in my notes so it is.
- 13:38Okay cool. Alright well I mean I guess they
- 13:41got across. All right, so kind of like blood
- 13:44rage, this movie was very obscure for the most part.
- 13:48It's just now had like a Reawakening with a lot of
- 13:50people. It was very big in the home,
- 13:54like the video, rental stores in the 80s, especially because the
- 13:59Box are driven. A lot of people I saw so many
- 14:01reviews from people online saying, like, I grew up seeing
- 14:04this in the stores all the time, I could see that.
- 14:07Yeah, I mean the poster is like great like yeah if I were a kid
- 14:10and I saw this, I would be interested.
- 14:11I don't think it was really around whenever we were old
- 14:16enough like in the 90s or whatever.
- 14:18What I remember in the 90s, the the horror box art that stood
- 14:23out to me, was Jack crossed that stood out to me also Puppet
- 14:26Master I just, I remember the video rental store that we would
- 14:30go to as a little ways down the road.
- 14:32It was up on big hill. I think it might have also been
- 14:36a convenience store, I'm not sure.
- 14:38Yeah, but yeah, they had a big display and I swear Jack Frost
- 14:42was up there year round. That was the best one because I
- 14:45had the holographic cover where he's like happy and then you get
- 14:47on the other side. He's all evil.
- 14:49Yeah, well, it was only the evil one hour.
- 14:51I remember like sitting on a rack of my mom's car like and
- 14:55staring at it through the window and having Evil snowman.
- 14:59Stare back at me. Then we watched it and it's a
- 15:02fucking serious movie ever I. Yeah.
- 15:05But for this one, it kind of became lost in relevancy of
- 15:12because it never got ported over to DVD.
- 15:16So a whole generation of horror fans like us right here.
- 15:19We never had that going until Daddy shutter for us.
- 15:25That's where we first, watched it?
- 15:27Yes. Yes.
- 15:27But the real people who save the day Arrow because as they do
- 15:33they take obscure, should they take things that you don't even
- 15:36know you want to see and then they restore it in the fullest
- 15:39quality that they can do and they loaded this year with so
- 15:43many extras. They have, they created a full
- 15:46feature length, documentary for this movie, where they like,
- 15:49went about the creation of it, they have like, the guy that
- 15:52made the movie, buddy, Cooper, He's like super involved in it
- 15:56guys seem super He has think about these types of movies.
- 15:59This guy's like a big movie nerd.
- 16:02Yeah, just the name Buddy. Cooper makes me feel like I
- 16:05would like the guy, which I know that's a stupid thing to choose
- 16:08but like, I don't know. Everything you're saying about
- 16:11them. Like, I like, I like the cut of
- 16:13his cloth. You know what I mean?
- 16:15He's super Southern good. Yeah, it's kind of cool.
- 16:19I mean, this movie is like very it's in like the movie in North
- 16:24Carolina and it was filmed in North Carolina, like, and less.
- 16:27And I know You all to understand that my Southern comes out in
- 16:31certain circumstances, that's a little bit right now, partially,
- 16:35because we watch this movie partially because we've had a
- 16:39couple of drinks. Again, it's our anniversary
- 16:41weekend. But if you would hurt me last
- 16:44night, when we had gone out to eat, got like nice cocktails
- 16:49where the Hibachi Grill. So we did a sec.
- 16:51You suck you suck, you suck. Yes.
- 16:53And then we watched X, And like my twang was palatable and went
- 17:01for the rest night. Yes.
- 17:03Yeah. So I was want you all to
- 17:06understand and acknowledge that people have just been very
- 17:09pretty country to because they had a lot of local people, all
- 17:12the cast's, these are all can hear it and all them.
- 17:15And like, it's a very specific type of southern accent.
- 17:18I didn't even have to when I saw the North Carolina plates on the
- 17:21car, I was like, yep, tracks. They're all students.
- 17:25They're all postgrads, they're all like recent grads and then
- 17:29they're all like underclassmen so they like had like a local
- 17:32University nearby and then they just kind of like grab local
- 17:36talent from there. It's kind of cool.
- 17:38One of the people that worked on this movie also like work at the
- 17:42motel that's in the town there that I think Buddy, Cooper owns
- 17:45and some of the other people that worked on own to.
- 17:49Yeah. So I forgot to mention though.
- 17:52Whenever they did that the re cutting of this Whenever it was
- 17:56like an X to R rating, the people that distributed or vest
- 18:00run. And they gave them a 250
- 18:03thousand dollar Advanced to do that because they knew that that
- 18:06was going to be like they're going to potentially lose money
- 18:09on it. They did that test, run went
- 18:12bankrupt and they ended up not even being able to pay the full
- 18:16amount. Oh, shit.
- 18:17So yeah, this movie lived, pretty much in like the home
- 18:22rental stuff because it made two versions of it on VHS that at,
- 18:25for distribution, you could get the x-rated version immediately
- 18:28or you could get the R-rated version.
- 18:30But once they made that recap, like, it was doing well at
- 18:33first. And then all interest was a wasp
- 18:35because if you don't have the kills in this movie, you don't
- 18:39have much of a movie. It's just kind of how it is
- 18:42unfortunately but that's pretty much all that I have for the
- 18:48background and you know facts and stuff like that for now.
- 18:52So I want to know, what did you think of this movie?
- 18:58All right, so I'm going to say, first and foremost This month,
- 19:04our whole lineup is movies that I have very strong opinions
- 19:08about both ways and it's a five Thursday month.
- 19:13So we got a lot of big hitters on the plate.
- 19:16Yeah, this is one that I don't necessarily feel super strongly
- 19:21about in favor of it however I do not know if it was.
- 19:32To the detriment or benefit of this movie that we watched it
- 19:35right after six plots. Yeah because I like it better on
- 19:41the second viewing of it. I was not when you said you
- 19:44wanted to cover this, I like I've been dreading it seriously.
- 19:46Did you know that it was coming out?
- 19:49You boy, you said it last week. Oh well, I remember.
- 19:52When were you first pitched? The podcast to me?
- 19:54This is one of the first movies that came to mind was like, we
- 19:57need to talk about that at some point because yeah, like its I
- 20:04appreciate its absurdity is a lot more this time I think
- 20:09partially, it's because I knew what I was getting going into it
- 20:13and then again, I think partially it's because we watch
- 20:16six plots beforehand. Which the title of that movie,
- 20:20lived up to its name. It had six plots going on.
- 20:24No, it's not up. That was resolved, there were
- 20:25not successful as it was one dumbass bar.
- 20:29So it like, This at least made more sense, even though I feel
- 20:33like there's absolutely nothing going on but I appreciated some
- 20:37of the absurdity of it. I like that it feels like an a
- 20:40cheesy 80s sitcom. Like it's got like Facts of Life
- 20:45Energy at times almost like, you know, we got the whole theme
- 20:49song to it. Yeah.
- 20:51The little friendly Montage. Have that weird moment with
- 20:56Ralph moving and triple speed because he's horny.
- 21:01Like there's a little moments like that.
- 21:03I love the bloody effects. I like the reasonable
- 21:09expectation of whether alone on the island like all of that.
- 21:13There's some absolutely absurd stuff going on. but I just also
- 21:19feel like there's a lot of it's a lot of wandering back and
- 21:24forth and back and forth for no real reason and like teasing
- 21:27things and we don't get full resolution on it.
- 21:30So like I don't know, this is one that like I'm gonna start
- 21:34off giving it a four and a half. Wow.
- 21:36But I do think I could be easily swayed in our discussion.
- 21:42Okay, curious to see how I feel after we've dissected it some.
- 21:46Yeah. Okay, sure.
- 21:47So it's just it's I remember what the first time we've seen a
- 21:53total of two times. Now, first time we watched it,
- 21:57you were so excited for it and I hated it.
- 22:01I don't hate it anymore after this time, but I also like it's
- 22:09one of those movies that simultaneously, like it's only
- 22:1186 minutes but like, oh my God, it's 86 minutes.
- 22:15You know what I mean? Okay, I got you.
- 22:18So that's kind of where I'm at with it right now.
- 22:19Okay. So 4.5 to start off with, all
- 22:22right? Okay.
- 22:23So I did forget the movies that came out the same year.
- 22:27I'm gonna end with that. And with that, yeah, give your
- 22:30thoughts first. Let's have this flow of this
- 22:32conversation and then we'll compare it to other movies that
- 22:35came out in 84. So I also did not enjoy this.
- 22:37We very much whenever we first watched that I had hype myself
- 22:41up in my head that this was going to be an amazing movie
- 22:44because one, the name is incredible.
- 22:46I didn't know about the fall break shit beforehand.
- 22:49But, you know, it's very much like the going into the movie
- 22:53store types. Your I saw the poster, I read
- 22:55the description. I was totally on board and I
- 23:00remember like, I watched like a part of it, but it was streaming
- 23:05on like the shutter Channel like this.
- 23:07Streaming Channel TV. Yeah we're like /x or something.
- 23:11Probably but I remember like I saw that I was like I need to
- 23:15save this I gotta watch this with Jesse.
- 23:18This is going to be amazing. This like has the recipe of a
- 23:21movie that we would love to watch it to the ex very similar
- 23:27stuff you want. Maybe we'll talk about that one
- 23:29some day to maybe that one will benefit from a re-watch,
- 23:32although we never finished the first watch because we rage quit
- 23:35it. That's true.
- 23:36However, this one I do agree that it is a lot of likes clonus
- 23:41to it, but I feel like there's like a lot of like It feels more
- 23:45genuine to me this time and Ernest, I'd we've, we've gone
- 23:51through and this is like only been like two years since we
- 23:54watched it, but we've watched so many low-budget movies that
- 23:59sometimes you see that has hard. And sometimes you don't.
- 24:01And this is one that I feel like the heart in the movie actually
- 24:04shines through like, they genuinely wanted to make a good
- 24:07movie. They had a pretty solid idea,
- 24:11they have generally solid execution, but When it came to
- 24:15forming the story, they didn't really know how to make this
- 24:18thing. Stretch into a full feature
- 24:20length movie. Yeah, I have a single page of
- 24:22notes which is rare form, that's incredibly rare for you.
- 24:25Yeah. But if that tells you guys what
- 24:29little happens in it, well what it does.
- 24:31Well, it does. Well, you know, I feel like
- 24:35where it shines. It definitely picks up the slack
- 24:38for the parts where it doesn't and are to be or not, to be
- 24:42episode. You asked me if that was a movie
- 24:43that I feel like Like you would want to have on my casually,
- 24:47we're like, in the background, this is a movie that I feel
- 24:49like, has that thing because as I described them, if you have a
- 24:55movie like that, where I want it to just kind of like casually,
- 24:57put it on, I have to have moments in the movie that stand
- 25:00out and in between all of this slowness and just like, working
- 25:06around and nothing happening in the movie.
- 25:08When things actually happen. It's interesting.
- 25:10And it's like, it's I feel like that's when it's It but any
- 25:16other time, it's not that great of a movie.
- 25:19So I think that I'm gonna, I'm gonna keep it at like gonna put
- 25:23a 6 because I think that's enough to get it past the
- 25:28halfway point for me, like where it's bright points but yeah,
- 25:32those will points really drag it.
- 25:34Okay, so we're starting off with an average of five point two
- 25:36five, which is not bad for us about explain what I expected
- 25:41going into it today. I agree.
- 25:43Okay, no. Now, let me get the movies that
- 25:45came out in 1984 along with it. Yeah, it's just for reference.
- 25:49Like we know that this is a little budget, even for a horror
- 25:51movie and even for a horror movie in 1984, but it's always
- 25:55good to have like a gauge of where it's nails.
- 25:58When I remember I'm doing this, I like to try and pick movies
- 26:01that I think are very like similar to yeah.
- 26:04So the first movie I pick for this one is another.
- 26:07Whoa, budget horror movie. This one is very successful
- 26:11though. I practice 13th not.
- 26:14This one. Okay, this one is the Toxic
- 26:17Avenger. Oh shit, that's probably like
- 26:20troma's biggest hit. It is, and it was popular enough
- 26:24to spawn, like, an animated series for kids.
- 26:27It has a remake coming out this year Dinklage, but Peter
- 26:31Dinklage. That's going to be interesting.
- 26:33I feel like we gotta watch those movies soon.
- 26:35And what I want to see it before.
- 26:36We talk to Lloyd Kaufman. It scare fest, exactly.
- 26:40But that movie, guess what had pretty much the exact same
- 26:44budget. It don't make sense estimated
- 26:46trauma. It makes sense.
- 26:47Yeah. Estimated at four hundred and
- 26:48seventy-five thousand dollars. Gross.
- 26:52I couldn't get much of a gross. I don't know if this thing did
- 26:55a, why in the theaters? This might have been one of
- 26:57those home releases where that's where they make their money.
- 27:01Yeah, but I saw an estimation of like eight hundred thousand
- 27:04dollars at the theaters, but again not super accurate, okay?
- 27:09And the second movie I picked this one is a Friday, the 13th
- 27:12movie and it is it part? You know, there's a part 3.
- 27:16No, the first one. No.
- 27:19Okay, but it's 1984. I feel like it has to be one of
- 27:21the first three part for really that was that really the first
- 27:25one came out in 88. It's like a yearly serious
- 27:28back-to-back-to-back, okay. So yeah, Friday 13th, the final
- 27:33chapter and liar. Of course, these are all going
- 27:38to be bug Ted, but this one isn't quite as bug.
- 27:42Ted as the rest of them. It's great.
- 27:44Yeah. Okay.
- 27:44Baby boy. Crispin Glover in it it does
- 27:47before he was like Crispin Glover, you know.
- 27:50Like with that little bit of like he's very much Crispin
- 27:53Glover in this movie. He was a dead.
- 27:55Fuck, who can't dance. Okay.
- 27:57It was very much crisp and go. Well, I don't, I don't know.
- 28:00Crispin Glover himself as a dead fuck, but his dance moves were
- 28:03his as you will recall when we covered that movie.
- 28:07If not, don't go astray because we have talked about this but
- 28:10this one had a budget or bug tenets of 2.6 million.
- 28:15Okay, that's pretty good. Considering, yeah, compared to
- 28:17these two. Yeah, and it made a gross
- 28:21thirty. Two point, nine million.
- 28:23Well, yeah, so very successful. Yeah.
- 28:25Very successful man. Success for me.
- 28:28I just so that's kind of like in this era of horror movies.
- 28:35So yeah, this one could have been a Toxic Avenger but it
- 28:39didn't quite live up to. It didn't have the money or the
- 28:42recognition to be a Friday the 13th.
- 28:44I have one more. Very important question.
- 28:46What, what is the tagline for this movie?
- 28:49Free tackle? It's okay.
- 28:50The first one is this one is as fall break before.
- 28:55It became okay. The mutilator a vacation that
- 28:59became a nightmare factual. Yeah.
- 29:02Alright the second one is there. Horrifying vacation was no day
- 29:07at the beach, love the pain of it but it's less factual than
- 29:12the first one because they were literally on the beach scene.
- 29:14Or time. And they were there a day,
- 29:16that's true. So yeah, two out of ten for
- 29:20accuracy on that tag. Like, the third one is my
- 29:22favorite. This is the one that's on the
- 29:24poster. Yes, I was hoping that would be
- 29:25one of them by pick, by acts by sword.
- 29:29Bye-bye, it's so dumb. And it fits the tone of the
- 29:33movie. I know that one's great.
- 29:35I'm glad that they stuck with that one.
- 29:37Fucking amazing. That's how you do a tagline
- 29:39people there. Right there.
- 29:41Learn from that shit growling. I don't know what your tone is.
- 29:44Is. Yeah, you gotta stick to it.
- 29:47Yeah, I don't know if this movie took itself.
- 29:48Seriously, I don't think it did. Yeah, it doesn't feel like it
- 29:51did. He wanted to make a horror movie
- 29:54that? Because he's a fan of the genre,
- 29:57but he also wanted to make something that you would be able
- 29:59to like financially recuperate from which it took a long time
- 30:02to apparently. But, you know, it is what it is.
- 30:05And that's why he was afraid to make another movie into, I think
- 30:08the recent successful mutilated and now he's making mutilator
- 30:11to, but okay. Now let's see.
- 30:14Should get into the discussion of mutilator.
- 30:16Okay, the opening. I'm not gonna lie.
- 30:20The opening gives me like the same Vibes is like the opening
- 30:24of pieces. Yes, it does.
- 30:25It does. It's very much like that because
- 30:26it's like the little kid there and the mom and the mom dies.
- 30:31Okay. Except in pieces, he
- 30:33intentionally kills his mom. He died.
- 30:35Well, how do we not know? Okay, this.
- 30:37Okay, sorry, this one opens with the kid.
- 30:40It's the dad's birthday. Yeah, the mom is making him a
- 30:44birthday cake. It's very well-decorated.
- 30:46I'm really proud of her piping. Littering is difficult.
- 30:49So the Did hangs a sign up on his dad's gun cabinet.
- 30:53That says, happy birthday. Daddy cleaned by me or something
- 30:56like that. So, here's the thing, there is
- 30:58so much bad gun safety going on that.
- 31:02That gun cabinet is not locked, which it should be with a child
- 31:05in the house. This kid has clearly been
- 31:08involved in cleaning the guns at some point but does not know
- 31:11good gun safety because he's like point in his own.
- 31:14I at one point and you do have to pull the trigger while you're
- 31:18cleaning it but there are several Well safety steps.
- 31:20Yeah, there are several safety steps that you're supposed to go
- 31:23through. You're not supposed to just
- 31:24like, you know, fucking cock the whole thing and shoot through
- 31:28the wall and kill your mom. Have you clean the gun before?
- 31:31No, I read a lot of books man. So they go.
- 31:34You read books where they actually go into detail about
- 31:36how they clean a gun. Yeah, I've also read books that
- 31:39detail how to make mess. Wow, super interesting stuff.
- 31:43Both by the same author. Fuck that guy.
- 31:46That guy's. Whoa, why?
- 31:49It's like writing about just all this shit.
- 31:52Well no. Okay, so here's the fucked-up
- 31:53thing, and it's unfortunately, relevant in.
- 31:56Today's news is the blue book. I'm thinking of is talking about
- 32:00a school shooting. Oh, and like the kid like when
- 32:04he was a kid, he would go hunting with his dad and his dad
- 32:06taught him like gun safety protocol, but like, he's
- 32:09stressed it. A lot more than big Ed.
- 32:12We don't know if big didn't stress this stuff.
- 32:14We just need didn't lock his gun cabinet party.
- 32:18I feel like he failed. I think that's fair.
- 32:22This kid fucking shoots, dude. He's yours.
- 32:25Okay, I'll wait to see. I want this to be light-hearted
- 32:27here. This is fucking silly as fuck,
- 32:30even though his tragic. But he goes in there, looks at
- 32:32his mom's chest bursts open. Like, she was part of alien and
- 32:40he goes, mama, mama. And he sounds like fucking Bob
- 32:45from house at the cemetery. And if you don't know, Laughs
- 32:48sounds like you're very lucky, but if you do, you know what
- 32:53we're talking about? I still recommend watching cast
- 32:56by the cemetery, then the dad comes in, and he silently beats
- 33:00the shit out of this kid. Everything actually beats,
- 33:03should all right. He shoves him to the ground.
- 33:05I'm not condoning. Any of that behavior in this
- 33:07movie? I want to be 100% clear.
- 33:09I'm not, I'm not saying that shooting.
- 33:12His mom is fine. I'm not shooting that him
- 33:14shooting or shoving. His kids down on the ground is
- 33:16fine. I'm Just saying that it isn't.
- 33:21It feels so fucking silly to me. It's so is this like this movie
- 33:26is doing shit? That I don't condone in real
- 33:28world but I fucking I don't condone murder in real world.
- 33:31Ocean is not endorsement exactly.
- 33:33Like this is I laughed when I saw him shove his kid down to
- 33:36the ground because it was so half-hearted and then it's
- 33:39silent. Like, he doesn't say anything.
- 33:42And then he like drags his wife's body over to his dry bar
- 33:47and for himself. Drink while he waits to the cops
- 33:49and he takes the sign off the gun cabinet and puts it on.
- 33:52He pours her drink and then pours it down her mouth.
- 33:56I would hope. Oh, same for me if I was shot
- 33:59and killed. Although yesterday you said you
- 34:01would make me coffee even though I was about to fall asleep.
- 34:04But I was like, just pour it in my mouth and then I woke up and
- 34:06you know what you had for dinner and coffee in my mouth and it's
- 34:09very rude. I did you didn't you just slept
- 34:12through it. I woke up and you're like, hmm,
- 34:13this new coffee that you bought and had delivered to us tastes
- 34:17really good. Glad I could drink it without
- 34:19you. We cut to a bar.
- 34:25We have this group of friends, they're all complaining about
- 34:29what to do. Open.
- 34:32I think would make a really great short film, they just by
- 34:35itself, like that cold, open, with the kid and everything.
- 34:38I think of you really like, every one of those on YouTube,
- 34:41like how we like to look up horror short, sometimes we're in
- 34:43a weird mood, when I feel like that's the type of thing that
- 34:46we'd find and we like this weird sort, of course what?
- 34:48It's like a drama. There's something horrific.
- 34:51Like there's nothing like horror about that to me like that,
- 34:54right there screams drama movie, I could trying to shine a gun
- 34:57for his dad Queen and for him accidentally kills the mother
- 35:01that comes back and is abusive towards the sun about it.
- 35:03Cause the cops, you know, when you put it like that, it sounds
- 35:06like it belongs on Lifetime. Exactly.
- 35:08That's what I'm saying. Like this.
- 35:09Not a were movie. Sure.
- 35:10That's like a drama right there. I'm sorry.
- 35:13That manslaughter is not horrifying enough for you.
- 35:16Travis no. Not in this movie and this
- 35:19movie, all the Water is entertaining.
- 35:22All right, so they are at the bar.
- 35:24We get our first clip of fall break.
- 35:27Hold On music plays. I'm sorry, I wrote fall break in
- 35:30all caps. Every time the song played, it's
- 35:32in the radio I think there was something to it on the radio.
- 35:34They're all right so they're all there.
- 35:37They're complaining about not having anything to do on fall
- 35:40break as usual. They never have any plans for
- 35:42fall break except for just sitting around on campus just
- 35:46doing whatever then Ed Junior gets a call.
- 35:50From somebody at the bar and then he goes over there to talk
- 35:53about it while they're doing this.
- 35:55Pam, who is his love interest. As we said before, it starts to
- 35:59share his whole back story about him, killing his mom to his
- 36:02friend group which seems very jarring to me.
- 36:05Like these people knew him for so long and then suddenly in
- 36:08like, Oh I thought his dad actually know that he killed his
- 36:11mom, actually whenever he was a kid.
- 36:13So what's really great about this is I will talk about this
- 36:18later because you all know I relate really Hard to this.
- 36:21I've talked about it before, he is so casual with his childhood
- 36:24trauma later on, just like talking about it, like it's
- 36:27normal stores, like haha, like I had a dog named Rover and I also
- 36:31killed my mom. You know what I mean?
- 36:34It's like it's weird that they don't know this backstory.
- 36:36So, Pam lays it out for him that I think really, that was
- 36:39probably just thrown in, so the audience knows like, hey, this
- 36:42is murder child or manslaughter child.
- 36:45Yeah, I mean, yeah, yeah, because otherwise, you're not
- 36:48really going to have the context because they didn't provide A
- 36:50name and a flashback or anything like that.
- 36:52No, yeah. There's like no names or
- 36:53anything. So what happens is he ends up.
- 36:57Having his dad, left him a message to call him.
- 36:59He calls his dad back, his dad wants him to go back to the
- 37:03condo, you know, the condo yeah. In North Carolina to go close it
- 37:08up for the winner. So the friend group takes it
- 37:13upon himself to invite themselves there and because
- 37:15that's what they're going to do for fall break this year.
- 37:17So there's a couple of great things about this.
- 37:20In that reads, very true to life for me.
- 37:22Hmm. Which is one the friend group
- 37:25not taking seriously. How shitty his dad was to him
- 37:28like they completely dick because they're like why do you
- 37:32hate your dad so much? He's your dad.
- 37:34Just go do this thing for him completely like that's 100%
- 37:38accurate was somebody would say to you.
- 37:40Uh-huh. And then them just deciding that
- 37:43they're going to invite themselves and like kind of
- 37:46making it sound like they'll help but also really, they want
- 37:48a free vacation. That's a Yeah, and then I have a
- 37:51question. I don't think that you can
- 37:55really poor antifreeze down Plumbing.
- 37:58I realize that's not a question but that's one of the steps is
- 38:02hope to do. Yeah.
- 38:04I don't know. His dad proud, are you gonna
- 38:06trust his dad to like know how this shit actually works on
- 38:09them? Yeah but Ed's basically like hey
- 38:12fuck big Ed. He was abusive to me, I had a
- 38:15fucked-up childhood, he didn't get me therapy, he didn't get
- 38:18himself therapy. We don't need to be in each
- 38:20other's lives anymore, he can close.
- 38:22His own damn condo and his friend group a once a free
- 38:27vacation and be has not experienced that kind of stuff
- 38:33in their lives and they don't understand how messed up that
- 38:36Dynamic is but like you said, he is super casual about it.
- 38:40So I keep smiling like saying I'm an like this guy.
- 38:42Fucking he was the worst to me, he's just like, yeah, I fucking
- 38:45hate my dad. He's wanting me to do this shade
- 38:47but the waist like, delivering, all of his 12 is just like my
- 38:51dad, he's just wanted me to go. They're in close up for the
- 38:53weekend, you know. Like from get, I completely get
- 38:57where he's coming from, sure you get it.
- 38:58It's just, yeah. It's just anyways, he is very
- 39:04easily encouraged into doing this.
- 39:06So they all decide that they're going to go down there for fall
- 39:08break, call Brick. I guess we can basically skip
- 39:11the whole forehand thing where they go to pick up Ralph and
- 39:15it's sooo. Yeah, well, that's where we
- 39:18established that Ralph is a prankster and also doesn't seem
- 39:22like He really wants to go. I don't understand, I think he's
- 39:25just trying to prank honestly, because like whenever he first
- 39:29is introduced, he's like, he's still an ad Junior, he's like,
- 39:31hey, your dad's on the phone, like you have a phone call here
- 39:33at the bar. And then whenever it's actually,
- 39:36she was like, wow, what do you know?
- 39:37Ralph actually said something honest for once.
- 39:41I was going to say, Fuck Ralph because they stopped at a gas
- 39:44station and he goes in there and he sees there's a Senior
- 39:48Citizens Discount and he tells this older black man in the
- 39:52South that this is discrimination.
- 39:56Yeah, but The store owner gets the last laugh because it
- 40:01happened is Ralph ends of actually buying two six-packs
- 40:04because he's like, tell you what, give me the discount and
- 40:06I'll go buy a second. It is expect.
- 40:09Yeah, he's struck like a fucking amazing deal.
- 40:11But no, but I love that the store owner and I don't know if
- 40:16she also works in the store she thinks wife.
- 40:18Yeah, situation is what she's like, she's like these college
- 40:22kids fall for it every time. I'm like good for them.
- 40:25They're gaming the system. They told me that people
- 40:27actually come up with that same bullshit excuse every time.
- 40:31People love to tell people from other groups that have faced
- 40:35actual discrimination. How hard their lives have been?
- 40:38I'm just saying I'm not buying it that this many college kids
- 40:42Ryo. I will get 2 for 10 percent
- 40:45discount. Okay, listen, when we worked in
- 40:49the fast food restaurants together, you were back of
- 40:54house. So you don't realize how many
- 40:56people came in and got mad that we didn't have the discounts
- 40:58they wanted. So many times out of people come
- 41:01in they be like yo veterans discount.
- 41:04You Cedars Citizens. Discount.
- 41:06Do you EMT discount one time? This man came in with a dozen
- 41:10coupons for free cookie that were all a week expired and I
- 41:13was like I can't take these because they're expired.
- 41:15Tired and he's like why I've been saving these up for months.
- 41:18I was like sir sir sir. You have had time then to see
- 41:22that these were expiring before. Now let's see if I just don't
- 41:25care. So I fully believe that this is
- 41:28not the first time this man has heard this bullshit from some
- 41:31nearby college student. Well, you know what?
- 41:35We I'm surprised you. This is the appropriate time to
- 41:38mention and this is when we're getting the fall break theme
- 41:40song. Well, yeah, it's right after
- 41:42this. No, it's right before this
- 41:43happens in the middle of it, there's so many bikes in the
- 41:46middle but it starts off, they get the size, they drive off, we
- 41:49get the fall break title card. We get the nice little Jam here
- 41:54that they wrote themselves and perform.
- 41:56It has all of the absurdity and uncanny - of like too many
- 42:02cooks. You know what?
- 42:05Doing it, right? No.
- 42:08Have a good time went on. Alright.
- 42:21So that was just like, that's a taste of it right there.
- 42:24But I like there's this one thing that he did whenever was
- 42:28promoting this movie that I think is an amazing idea and
- 42:31cities were the movie would be playing.
- 42:34He would, He actually has like vinyls press of this song.
- 42:38He would send it to radio stations and they would play in
- 42:40the city that it was actually showing that we can.
- 42:43So you get the theme song, you get like a movie fall break.
- 42:47Fucking go. See that shit out of me.
- 42:49Yeah. Honestly, I'd say this song pops
- 42:53into my head randomly, at least. Once a month, sometimes more,
- 42:57it's going to be. You're going to hear me singing
- 42:59it. A lot over the next week or so
- 43:01I've already heard. Yeah.
- 43:02My know, exactly. And it's day one.
- 43:05Exactly, you know, it's just one of those, it's great.
- 43:09You all know I love a montage. Like at one point, they pull
- 43:14over. So Ralph can pee in some like
- 43:17waist high grass and I said, that's how you get tix and then
- 43:20Travis said, I thought you said that's how you get tips and I
- 43:23said that is, but I said it wasn't what I said but, you
- 43:26know, we had a fun moment with it hahaha.
- 43:30So they get to the condo And Ed chest toss, Ralph the keys.
- 43:36Since we offer is the first one up the stairs and he goes don't
- 43:39eat on place is wide open and I'd goes haha.
- 43:43That's fine. Yeah.
- 43:45They're not at all burned by the fact that the door is wide.
- 43:48Yeah, the only one concerned as Pam.
- 43:51This is the name of this movie. Yeah, she is yeah she is the
- 43:54only one in the whole time. He was like hey something's
- 43:57weird here and everybody's like, shut up Pam, shut up, Pam fall
- 44:00break. She's like, I don't want to
- 44:04drink, I don't want to fuck. I want to call the police
- 44:07because there might be a murderer in the house which I
- 44:11mean, okay. I kind of get that.
- 44:15But then at the same time, like, come on man, you're being a
- 44:18fucking party pooper. Like this guy, the guy that
- 44:21knows the guy that lives here is being like, Oh, it's all fine.
- 44:23Don't worry about it. She's like, no, there's
- 44:25definitely something Shady going on here.
- 44:27We gotta call the cops but who's right.
- 44:29Well, we know who's, right, but I would trust the guy that is
- 44:32Yeah, this is my dad. He's an abusive piece of shit.
- 44:35He watched me. Shoot my mom.
- 44:36Whenever I was a kid. He's psychologically fucked up.
- 44:39He didn't want to be here in the first place and they forced him
- 44:42and he's like, you know, I yeah my dad probably is waiting to
- 44:44kill all of us and I told everybody I didn't want to come
- 44:47here. So this is what they deserve.
- 44:49Do you know what? He's a good host.
- 44:51So he goes into the house there and there's a lot of there's
- 44:55obvious partying going on here. There's like bottles all over
- 44:57the place but he's like pointing out all of these trophies that
- 45:01he has. He said yeah, my dad was a Big
- 45:03Game Hunter. He said The only person he
- 45:04wouldn't Hunt is man, he casually unloads.
- 45:07His childhood trauma on his friends, who are starting to
- 45:10realize the depths of what Ed has gone through in his language
- 45:14in. Will ya like that?
- 45:15You can see like gradually, they're all getting more
- 45:18uncomfortable with each story. It's so much.
- 45:22I think the best one was there. Like, what about this guy?
- 45:24And they show a framed photo of a man?
- 45:30Almost dead like very bloody bodies dead, right?
- 45:34And they said well if your dad doesn't hunt men who is this guy
- 45:38and he was like oh that's just somebody he accidentally hit
- 45:41with his ski though and I was like, why did you frame it big?
- 45:46Yeah, well, I honestly, I'm kind of at a loss of words here,
- 45:50personally, I don't really know what the fuck that is but I mean
- 45:56he I think that that is like a sign, like this guy is actually
- 45:59fucked up, I think That was an actual dead body that though.
- 46:03Do you know who that was? Who can you guess?
- 46:06No, just a good guess Frank, hen water?
- 46:10I don't know what, think that was just the first name that
- 46:11popped into my head. So it's Buddy, Cooper.
- 46:15Yeah. He's the picture of the dead
- 46:16body. Good for him.
- 46:18Yeah, that's the thing. He should be proud of this
- 46:20movie, not dead. So good for him for being alive.
- 46:24Fine. Sure.
- 46:26That's what I said. You ever you on your birthday.
- 46:28Yeah, good. Good for you for being a Alive.
- 46:30Yeah, I literally do say that to you that you don't.
- 46:33I say thank you for being alive. So thanks for not dying.
- 46:36Mostly to say that. Yeah.
- 46:39Yeah. Because I'm fucking romantic.
- 46:42Yeah. Okay, told y'all this is gonna
- 46:46get weird, is it? Sorry.
- 46:48It's been weird a long time ago. So they notice that there is one
- 46:52thing that is missing within the condo and that's fucking battle
- 46:56axe. He's so casual about it, it's
- 46:58gone, he's like, oh I'm, you know, my dad likes to bring his
- 47:01toys with them. Sometimes he likes to get drunk
- 47:03and grab his weapons off the wall.
- 47:04It's fine sign. Number one that this guy's a
- 47:06fucking psycho. He called it a toy like it's not
- 47:09a toy. It's a fucking battle axe, that
- 47:12shit's Dangerous. But anyways, that's what
- 47:16everybody gets super uncomfortable in their like oh,
- 47:19where are we staying? Like where our room?
- 47:21Yeah. And then meanwhile, we see
- 47:24underneath the house. A man, Big Ed.
- 47:29Listening in on everything. We also see him dreaming of
- 47:33killing Ed. He's sleeping in the closet of
- 47:37his garage. Tell me that's not a man.
- 47:40They got fucked up the night before and passed out in his
- 47:43garage because he was doing some weird shit in the middle of the
- 47:45night. He's like one of my favorite
- 47:49moments and King of the Hill where Hank and Peggy get really
- 47:54drunk on their wedding anniversary.
- 47:56And they fight and She goes into it, like they're finding out, so
- 48:03she's throwing stuff away. It goes, don't throw that away.
- 48:06You put me in here and he gets into the garbage can and then
- 48:10she's like not without me. And then the trash can Falls
- 48:13over and they wake up in the garage in the trash.
- 48:15Can the next morning, I think it would be hilarious if he was
- 48:19actually in a trash can down there right now.
- 48:21Like my he could be. He's cuddling up with his
- 48:24battle-axe. It's like a stuffed toy.
- 48:27I guess kind of like hugging me. Like Talia hugs her bunny.
- 48:30Yeah. Like when she's sleeping on the
- 48:32couch you just called it a toy that was a toy that this is toy
- 48:38thought. It was a red flag for end to
- 48:39refer to it as a toy. That's a weapon.
- 48:41Bunny is not a weapon. Bunny is a toy for Talia.
- 48:44High isn't weapon. Tie is a weapon but you know,
- 48:48I'm gonna acknowledge that as what it is.
- 48:51But yeah, so he wakes up. Yeah.
- 48:53That's that's the streaming is killing add like and very
- 48:56graphic ways. Yeah, I do.
- 48:59Understand why these to have a relationship at all.
- 49:02Here's the thing. Here's dreaming of killing Ed,
- 49:05but he had so many opportunities when Ed was smaller and weaker,
- 49:10like, why did he wait all of these years to kill him?
- 49:13I'm not condoning it. I'm just saying, I know a
- 49:16murderer like, you know, work smarter not harder.
- 49:20Do you think this guy was a murderer before?
- 49:22Or was I like an event that triggered him to just like,
- 49:26like, he's like gonna start killing people now, I mean he
- 49:30hunted supposedly everything. Except for man.
- 49:33So he ran over a man with his so yeah.
- 49:37I think that was some testing the waters there.
- 49:40He was like I want to see what manslaughter is like, maybe I'll
- 49:43like murder even better. That's probably what happened
- 49:45and he's like, all right, you know what?
- 49:47I'm ready to invited Junior down here now so.
- 49:50Okay, so Mike and Linda who at this point had not been named
- 49:55and it was driving me crazy, and I will judge it.
- 49:57Emily thought we were not going to get their names for the Rest
- 49:59of the movie. Because, like everybody else had
- 50:01been named and I couldn't get their names, and I just kept
- 50:04referring to them as the horny couple.
- 50:06I mean, that's pretty much it. Like there's even one point
- 50:09where they're like, okay, so the duty list tonight, me and Ed,
- 50:14will clean the kitchen and then tomorrow it will be Su and Ralph
- 50:19and so on. It's a good to whom it.
- 50:23There they may be hadn't even come up with names yet.
- 50:26Yeah point. But we do eventually learn their
- 50:28name Mike and Melinda. They go down to the garage and
- 50:32Big Ed is in the shed in the garage.
- 50:34I like I know it's a closet but it feels more if my shed because
- 50:37it's a project. I don't know.
- 50:38No, yes. So leg, they're giving him all
- 50:46kinds of ideas on how to kill them, like they're playing with
- 50:49all kinds of tools and weapons, and talking about things and
- 50:52giving them opportunities. And almost feels like farcical
- 50:57at one point, Mike grabs a pair of pliers and unzips Linda's
- 51:02jacket, which but whatever. But what pissed me off was then
- 51:07he was like supposedly unbuttoning her shirt with the
- 51:10pliers, right? And I would be so fucking
- 51:13pissed, I think it's hilarious. That that's what he goes
- 51:16through. Like this guy is so desperate to
- 51:17doing get some shit going right here.
- 51:19He's like oh he look at this pliers let's turn this into a
- 51:22sex toy so he's just like I'm doing her shirt like so
- 51:26Readiness to go out of all of The women, they're like, out of
- 51:30all the couplings, they're the ones that are like, yes.
- 51:33Let's fuck right here right now, they never do.
- 51:38Are you kidding me? They do a full-on Madman moment
- 51:42in a pool later. Fuck there.
- 51:45That we see, it doesn't happen my again, Linda, I like, so
- 51:51after dinner and I'm Pam are cleaning.
- 51:53Ralph ensue are in the living room and then Mike and Linda
- 51:57just saw, they're going to go down to the Beach and we just
- 52:02don't see them for a while. Because then you know, when Ed
- 52:05and Pam are done cleaning, they play some Monopoly with Ralph
- 52:08ensue. Yeah.
- 52:09And then they're like, we need to take a break because they're
- 52:11all getting angry because that's what happens with Monopoly.
- 52:14What are people playing Monopoly, if they don't, nobody
- 52:17seems ever enjoy playing that game.
- 52:21It's a game that isn't really good to play if you're
- 52:24competitive. Well, also, I think bankruptcy
- 52:28is a very real thing and it like it kind of kills the mood.
- 52:33Not sure these college kids. Nobody here knows what the fuck
- 52:36bankruptcy is. Um and then my note here, just
- 52:41as that Mike has herpes oh God. Okay so they are okay my
- 52:47goodness they are wandering through the beach that we get a
- 52:50lot of shots of them. Just kind of like running around
- 52:52playing on the beach. Yeah.
- 52:53But they make it to a pool and when they get there they noticed
- 52:58that the pool is all cloudy and then Mike is like, oh, it's
- 53:02probably from the coronation and she said oh, is it safe to swim
- 53:05in that? And he says, yeah, I think it
- 53:07keeps you from getting hurt. Peace.
- 53:09And then she's like, do I need to worry about that?
- 53:11He's like, ha ha. He doesn't answer his.
- 53:16She's to me. That seems kind of malicious,
- 53:23they have had sex before, but then I, he's like, oh, dropping
- 53:27this bomb money right now. And, and then I wrote after
- 53:32that, this pool scene needs a sing-along referencing madman.
- 53:37Yeah, It's all like they're doing the same like circling
- 53:41each other get in the water that they do in Mad me.
- 53:43Which if you haven't seen that, man, it's very similar to this
- 53:48movie in a lot of ways, but different in a lot of ways as
- 53:51well. But there's a scene where two
- 53:54can't counselors are naked in a hot tub and the guy is singing a
- 54:00song like not Diana, it's not diegetic but like the guy that
- 54:04is actually playing the character in the hot tub is
- 54:06actually singing the song. Yeah.
- 54:09It's just watch that fucking movie to that's a great movie.
- 54:12Yeah. So yeah they're swimming around
- 54:15in the pool. They're having a good time so a
- 54:17lot of shots of them swimming again.
- 54:19Patting time the other four are out on the beach and we are
- 54:25really beating a dead horse. At the fact that Pam is a virgin
- 54:28which means that Ralph is not having sex currently.
- 54:31Which like look no Ralph is VIP. Looks like a rough Ed Is not
- 54:38having sex with Pam, however, Ralph giving them a hard time.
- 54:43He's very invested in this which I don't understand why he gives
- 54:47that much of a fuck about her being a virgin at this point.
- 54:50Like he has a girlfriend like I'd has complained about it a
- 54:54lot more than he's letting on to Pam.
- 54:57He is not. Yes.
- 54:59He's like the type of guy where he's like, no, don't worry.
- 55:01Take your time. He goes to run me.
- 55:05Yeah you know it's a I guarantee you that's Probably what happens
- 55:09here. Yeah.
- 55:09Which like, okay, I'm not gonna judge Pete link.
- 55:12Again, we are 95% sex-positive here at.
- 55:15What's your least favorite scary movie?
- 55:17I am curious how long they've been together, what her decision
- 55:20is because she's not making it sound like it's a waiting till
- 55:23marriage thing like but she's just because she just keeps
- 55:26saying like we're not doing it tonight buddy.
- 55:28Like did they just start dating like I'm so confused if that's
- 55:32the case. Isn't a little bit weird that
- 55:34he's already been like I shot my mom you know?
- 55:38Like if they have just been dating that long as you don't
- 55:41give that detail that early on, that's whatever, this some
- 55:44commitment pity. Fuck is getting desperate like
- 55:49just like share some sense of this happened to your passes.
- 55:52I've got a lot of that okay my life is super fucked up.
- 55:56Yeah let's go with the one that's about my mom because you
- 56:00know she's a woman. She all right.
- 56:05Oh man. Okay so we could Except for and
- 56:11Linda gets pulled underwater. Okay?
- 56:13So this scene was supposed. Hey do you have something you
- 56:15must say about this first I'm gonna go into some detail about
- 56:19the scene. Okay yeah so after he pulls our
- 56:22underwater we see him carrying her out of the hole and dragging
- 56:25her up the ladder and I need to point out the fact that big Ed
- 56:29apparently also got naked. He's committed this murder.
- 56:33He hath committed to joining them but then he is like this.
- 56:38Is gonna get freaky one way or another.
- 56:40It's either gonna be a threesome or is going to be murder, maybe
- 56:43those somebody's getting off. He's like, I'm not, I'm not
- 56:47discounting any of the possibilities, you know what, if
- 56:50Mike and Linda had just I invited him to join in.
- 56:55Maybe he went to murdered anybody.
- 56:57I think he was hoping that they would notice.
- 56:59Maybe he has the same Perpetual fresh like penned up frustrated
- 57:04horniness. That Ed jr.
- 57:06Has dude. Maybe this is like a theme going
- 57:10on here. This probably going to be
- 57:12mutilator to is Junior, being the Killer and jr.
- 57:16Finally, learns how to masturbate?
- 57:18Yeah, sure. Okay.
- 57:21Anyways, so the way that this He was originally supposed to go,
- 57:27Linda was supposed to be, okay, so it's going to be in the pool
- 57:30still and window was going to be like speared through the chest
- 57:37underwater. The spear was going to come up
- 57:40here sir all the way through and then it was going to grab her
- 57:43and pour down underwater but they tried Like repeatedly to
- 57:50get the shot to work and then they realize like this isn't
- 57:53happening. It was already getting sewn up
- 57:56which you can tell. If you've why pack if you're
- 57:57watching this movie you can see the sun is kind of rising here
- 58:00at this point. So they, they're like, fuck it.
- 58:04We're just going to like do something different.
- 58:06They wink that and I all right. He's just going to give the
- 58:08water. He's going to pull our
- 58:08underwater. Both of them, kind of ridiculous
- 58:11if you ask me because it's quiet in there.
- 58:15And I think you'd be able to notice if somebody else hopped
- 58:18in the pool, Because pools are allowed and they're like they're
- 58:22playing a game of like hide and seek like Marco Polo type thing
- 58:26where they're like going underwater and popping back up
- 58:29trying to find each other. Well that also makes it seem
- 58:32like reasonable then because you just hear splashing around when
- 58:35you're doing Marco Polo. I guess is probably when he
- 58:38entered but still like I don't know.
- 58:41I feel like you can differentiate between one person
- 58:44splashing into people. But, yeah, so, anyways, it's
- 58:49what happens. So she's dead.
- 58:52She, he carries her out of the pool, and he also steals all of
- 58:56the quotes there, too. And then he leaves a sexy Trail
- 59:02for Mike to follow like he leaves the trail of clothes.
- 59:05I might close it all the way back to the condo and heels.
- 59:08Like this is super fucking hot. I'm going to see you naked and
- 59:12I'm like my you literally just had like pelvic burning sex in
- 59:20the pool. You know there's they had sex,
- 59:22there is no way her vagina is not massively irritated if they
- 59:26had pool sex with that much chlorine in the There, there's
- 59:28no way that she's like, not burning from chlorine, and or
- 59:33herpes, you know what I mean? It's probably natural because
- 59:37he's like, yeah, this is like, this is just how your, your
- 59:40private parts feel like it's normal.
- 59:44It's supposed to hurt when you pee.
- 59:46Yeah. Like have all that weird shit.
- 59:50So anyways, he notices that there's a brother on the ground
- 59:53whenever he makes it back to the garage at the condo and then he
- 59:56notices a pair of panties. And I hate that fucking rude.
- 1:00:01Okay. Underwear until he notices a
- 1:00:03pair of underwear on the knob and he opens up the door and
- 1:00:07then suddenly big at is there I think it's the motor.
- 1:00:13I've my note is Mike gets motorboated nice because I think
- 1:00:18they pointed out before they were like exploring down there.
- 1:00:21Like I think this is the one that he killed the guy with.
- 1:00:23I wrote pressure washer question mark and I think that's because
- 1:00:27our neighbor It was pressure washing this porch, the other
- 1:00:30day and it also makes me think of the fact that like as much as
- 1:00:33I want or pressure washer because I feel like I would love
- 1:00:36it. I also Have that weird like
- 1:00:42intrusive thought of like, stick your hand in the Stream and the
- 1:00:47type of person that shouldn't be allowed to have a pressure
- 1:00:49washer noted. If we ever get one, I won't be
- 1:00:53doing all the pressure washing. It was kind of like when we go
- 1:00:55hiking and Red River Gorge and I'm like, oh that looks like a
- 1:00:58balance beam and you all are always like no, don't go walk on
- 1:01:01that. You will literally fall a
- 1:01:03hundred feet to your death. We shouldn't be having the tell
- 1:01:06you these things but we do forbidden, balance beam.
- 1:01:09Mmmmm forbidden water stream, you know, but I will say this is
- 1:01:15probably our best like our first like really gory kill.
- 1:01:18I mean, the mom could was kind of gory but yeah, first one
- 1:01:22quick. Yeah, it was, but it lingers on
- 1:01:24the shot of his cut like a special effects.
- 1:01:27Get their moment to shine, right?
- 1:01:28Yeah. Like we see layers of skin and
- 1:01:31muscle peeled back. It's pretty gnarly.
- 1:01:33Yeah. And this is why I know that this
- 1:01:34is the unrated car right here because like it lingers on that
- 1:01:38shot of him being Ripped open. So the quartet is still on the
- 1:01:42beach and a patrol officer stops them kind of suspicious that
- 1:01:47they're, they're probably also thinks they're drunk in public.
- 1:01:50They are and they're like, yeah, no.
- 1:01:53We're at my father's condo and Pam's like, yeah.
- 1:01:56By the way, we think it was broken into and they all look at
- 1:01:59her like she's a fucking narc. Yeah.
- 1:02:01Me, establish, before that, they were going to call in the
- 1:02:03morning. If big ad, he's going to cause
- 1:02:06his dad and be like, all right, do you have the battle ax?
- 1:02:09That if you do that's fine. If not, we're going to call the
- 1:02:12quick, here's the thing, part of the reason he said that is
- 1:02:14because on the island there on, there are no cops, they're all
- 1:02:18Mainland. There's also no phone in the
- 1:02:20condo. So he's like, yeah, we will find
- 1:02:23a phone tomorrow, I will call my dad and then we can call the
- 1:02:25cops right? Okay.
- 1:02:27So I can see Pam's reasoning that like, oh, here's a cop
- 1:02:31right here. I'm just going to tell them
- 1:02:33also, Mike and Linda have been gone for hours now.
- 1:02:36I see where she's coming from but they are the horny.
- 1:02:39People. And I feel like this is average
- 1:02:41Behavior. Okay, but we have watched enough
- 1:02:43horror movies to know that when the horny couple goes off alone,
- 1:02:46they are first to die. We have have they I mean, that's
- 1:02:50why I don't think since Ed life up until this point has been a
- 1:02:54horror movie, that's true. So that's true.
- 1:02:58I don't know how much of a horny horror movie.
- 1:03:01It is, I mean he's horny but like him.
- 1:03:03It's not a whore is so horny. Did you just say, Horner.
- 1:03:08It's like horny Horner. Yeah.
- 1:03:11Okay, so yeah, he they're like, yeah, we're just, we'll call it
- 1:03:16will call me go report tomorrow if I can't get ahold of my dad.
- 1:03:20And obviously like yeah that's good.
- 1:03:21And then he like calls and he's like I'm an investigative
- 1:03:23possible 10:38. Yeah he goes and does it
- 1:03:25anyways. Yeah which I mean yeah he's
- 1:03:27doing his fucking job. You have a good for him and also
- 1:03:30like if he doesn't know if he hadn't called it in then Pam and
- 1:03:34Edward died. At the end, the cops won't do
- 1:03:36anything. At the end of this movie.
- 1:03:38They get fucked up. Even more.
- 1:03:41Yeah. But like Pam wouldn't have been
- 1:03:43able to call an ambulance. You know what I mean?
- 1:03:45Okay, okay, well we'll get to that because that's an
- 1:03:51interesting ending to the movie. But yeah, but he's looking
- 1:03:53around and he ends up getting stabbed in the head and then his
- 1:03:56cabin gets to Tainted. Yeah, gets stabbed in the head.
- 1:04:02I was like, I can't fully make it out but I think it's like a
- 1:04:06piece of wood like a two-by-four.
- 1:04:07Yeah. Which stop some pretty intense.
- 1:04:09Yeah, I do. Know how you stab somebody
- 1:04:11through the face with that. But it happened again.
- 1:04:14Has been working out and also drinking a lot, so he's got very
- 1:04:16little inhibition. I feel like you have to have
- 1:04:19some decent strength to be able to carry around a battle, axis
- 1:04:22like comfortably as he does because those things can be
- 1:04:25white, but anyways. Okay, so they all make it back
- 1:04:29to the house or the condo and they decided that they want to
- 1:04:32play something else other than Monopoly because they want to
- 1:04:35actually have fun with the game on this is after Pam.
- 1:04:37Also beats up Ralph Oh, yes, because Ralph is again, being
- 1:04:43kind of an asshole about her being a virgin.
- 1:04:45Yeah, she like fucking throws him to the ground and she's
- 1:04:48ready to beat him up. And then they're like, let's
- 1:04:50play Blind Man's Bluff, which is basically adult hide-and-go-seek
- 1:04:54with alcohol. Yeah, the rules are so one
- 1:04:57person is and they stay in the house.
- 1:05:00Turn out all the Y's everybody, grabs a beer, they go outside,
- 1:05:04drink a whole beer, and then they come inside.
- 1:05:07And then they have to find the person every person that Finds
- 1:05:10the person that's hiding, can't say anything or announced that
- 1:05:13they just kind of, like, Crouch down and hide with them, until
- 1:05:16there's one person left. Yeah, so, sue is a terrible
- 1:05:20Hyder. She literally sits on the table
- 1:05:22in the kitchen and put the cooler in front of her Pam finds
- 1:05:25her first hides underneath. The table Ralph comes in finds
- 1:05:28her groups or hi Zanna table, tries to grope pan, but she beat
- 1:05:34him up again. Big Ed is in the house at this
- 1:05:37point to. He's also lurking around again.
- 1:05:40It's like with the Marco Polo where you hear people creeping
- 1:05:43around silently and you assume that it's the person playing the
- 1:05:46game with you. This one, this scene right here,
- 1:05:48I think is an actual like, this is like a school moment, but I
- 1:05:52think that, this is one actually uses tension really well,
- 1:05:54because I like, it's a good setup for seem like this.
- 1:05:58They are in the dark, they don't know who's there.
- 1:06:00They assume that that said, Junior.
- 1:06:02But then they like see like this guy walking from under the table
- 1:06:06and like, it's them like, I mean, it seemed like, actually
- 1:06:09looking for them. Yeah, and then he hears at
- 1:06:12Junior, come downstairs. A starts to follow him, and he's
- 1:06:15going to kill him, but then he goes over to the fridge and
- 1:06:19announces like, okay? And you guys want to be here
- 1:06:21because he has figured out that they're all there in the corner.
- 1:06:23Yeah, they get ready to go to bed and I made the note that Pam
- 1:06:27keeps wasting beer and she's pissing me off.
- 1:06:28She does do she just course it out like outside?
- 1:06:32Yeah, when there are waiting to play and they're supposed to be
- 1:06:34drinking their beer, she just pours out the side and then when
- 1:06:37they go upstairs, like egg comes in He's like, who wants a beer?
- 1:06:41They all take a beer and they're like, let's go to bed and she
- 1:06:43just says her full fucking bigger on the counter wasteful.
- 1:06:47Well, that's how I know she's not a broke college student.
- 1:06:50She doesn't appreciate the fact that she got this alcohol.
- 1:06:53Oh yeah, she's definitely giving off like a rich girl yassir but
- 1:06:56at least Ralph finishes it off here in a little bit.
- 1:06:59Yeah. But they all go upstairs and is
- 1:07:03Ralph and Sue's night to walk up for the night and before they
- 1:07:09have any Any business to insist that he go out and at least look
- 1:07:14for Mike and Linda one last time before they walk up the whole
- 1:07:17place and walk them out overnight, which is fair.
- 1:07:19But then, again, I also think it's fair to assume they've
- 1:07:22already kind of given up that by being gone for hours if they
- 1:07:27honestly are like, not dead. I mean, like at that point
- 1:07:30though, you just kind of accept that they're out wherever and
- 1:07:34you'll just get woken up when they beat on exactly.
- 1:07:36Yeah. So anyways, he was out there.
- 1:07:39Yeah, we have In the end, you know everybody makes it back
- 1:07:42fine. Yeah.
- 1:07:43But they Ralph Ralph is encouraged to do so because she
- 1:07:50hints that they will have sex Ralph speeds up a comedic
- 1:07:55amount. He get they speed up the display
- 1:07:58Yakety. Sax they do ya like the footage
- 1:08:01speeds up just a tad. And yeah, he like even shuts the
- 1:08:04door, opens the door. Just like the little like tip
- 1:08:07your cap type thing and he liked courses the door back.
- 1:08:09Its It's kind of weird. Fucking see and like, it's kind
- 1:08:12of jarring almost. So when he's out there, he's
- 1:08:16looking around, he finds the underwear in the shed, like he's
- 1:08:20about to, like nail them into the closet, for their safety,
- 1:08:25the safety. And then he's like, even I'm not
- 1:08:27the center of an asshole, son, he goes to open the door to get
- 1:08:30them out and when he doesn't get picked for to the throat, does
- 1:08:34any gets like pinned up against the door to?
- 1:08:36It's pretty gnarly this. Oh and by the way at All of the
- 1:08:42bodies in this. Yeah, he's got the hooks in
- 1:08:44there. He's just kind of like hanging
- 1:08:45everybody up one by one, my note for that was big and has a
- 1:08:48trophy shed, those kind of his trophy shed.
- 1:08:51Right there actually is senior green.
- 1:08:53Now that it's a shed and on closet, it's yeah, you got me
- 1:08:56the rider rides, right here. It does.
- 1:08:58So he falls apart without that. So much of the world can be
- 1:09:01saved with Rhymes. That's why poetry has been a
- 1:09:04thing for centuries. Yes.
- 1:09:08So Sue gets worried and starts to try and look for him.
- 1:09:15Pam is feel like she's got a spice and something's wrong.
- 1:09:18So she's kind of like peeking around Pam goes to get Ed and
- 1:09:23like she said, he tried so many times where you come up.
- 1:09:25She finally wakes him up and he's like, you go look for you
- 1:09:28deal with it. She goes, no.
- 1:09:29And she like, basically, like snacks and just like, get up.
- 1:09:32Yeah, he's like not sleeping with me is one thing but not
- 1:09:35sleeping at all, is a whole other thing.
- 1:09:37He was definitely trying to sleep about his pants on, he
- 1:09:40will, is he He's trying to get like like, did he bring pajamas?
- 1:09:46This is got like, no, because the Simpsons jeans after that
- 1:09:49like didn't bring any clothes. Yeah, like the ones for this
- 1:09:54allows a fall break. If they're all just gonna like
- 1:09:56be wearing the same shit the entire week in there going.
- 1:09:59Yeah. No bad smell.
- 1:10:00Like ocean water and sand and be, oh yeah, they're a small.
- 1:10:06Like that special kind of sweat that you get when you drink a
- 1:10:08little bit more than you should and you're like sweat.
- 1:10:11It out the next day. Yeah.
- 1:10:13External fall breaks obviously that's them out.
- 1:10:15They're going to be drinking. So while they're looking they
- 1:10:19run into Sue. They're getting very, very weird
- 1:10:23Vibes and they're like okay we need to just leave and she's
- 1:10:27like I'm not leaving without Ralph so they split up.
- 1:10:31Which is Scooby-Doo has taught us.
- 1:10:34Anything never split up. Yeah.
- 1:10:38You don't split up unless you're prepared for somebody at a time.
- 1:10:42And what happens is that sued, ex she gets grabbed and she is
- 1:10:46very noisily put on the workbench in the garage.
- 1:10:51This is the one that got me out of all of the things that make
- 1:10:54noise that people should have registered.
- 1:10:56The one house on the street that has people in it, is this house.
- 1:11:01The three kids are looking specifically for their friend
- 1:11:05and then this Ruckus of cans and tools and equipment get none.
- 1:11:11Knocked off the workbench onto the concrete.
- 1:11:14Garage floor is going to be loud as fuck.
- 1:11:19That's a mentioned screams and screams and then this is the,
- 1:11:25the vag Gaff moment. Yeah.
- 1:11:28So apparently a large fishing hook is called a gas.
- 1:11:31We have never guessed that by and large.
- 1:11:33We mean like the size of a person.
- 1:11:35Yeah, I guess gigantic and he literally like skewers her like
- 1:11:40Okay. So We were waiting in line after
- 1:11:44a show on Friday and like, we should I say, you know, how this
- 1:11:48is relevant to this and we're making random conversation with
- 1:11:51the people behind us. Like they said something about
- 1:11:54something, I forget what it was. So we just ended up like talking
- 1:11:56to them because we're the line was long.
- 1:11:57A shit anyway, to get some merch table and meet the band and
- 1:12:00stuff and somehow, because it was like a group of a few women,
- 1:12:05and a couple of dudes, like, we're all chit-chatting.
- 1:12:07And the topic of Gynecology visits naturally naturally as
- 1:12:13all brief conversations with strangers to.
- 1:12:16But I was talking about my gynecologist, feeling my
- 1:12:20ovaries. And my last visit and it is very
- 1:12:23much like this kind of like up through there, and then you
- 1:12:26touch it the top. And that's kind of what this
- 1:12:28makes me think of is like, big head goes through there and then
- 1:12:32he comes right out through her uterus.
- 1:12:34Yeah, it's weird. Like the size of the hook.
- 1:12:37I thought he would have gone up to her.
- 1:12:39Or so. But no.
- 1:12:40You like very specifically aims for that whole area.
- 1:12:43Yeah, yeah, and it's very gruesome.
- 1:12:45This is the most notorious killer Republican because he
- 1:12:49doesn't give a shit about this woman's uterus.
- 1:12:51You know, you nailed it. Right.
- 1:12:56Exactly. So anyways, she's dead and Pam
- 1:13:05and Ed jr. Finally, make their way to the
- 1:13:07garage as everybody in this movie has, which is Is where all
- 1:13:10of the killing is happening. Pretty much just in the garage,
- 1:13:13it makes, it's the easiest cleanup, but he doesn't even try
- 1:13:16and clean her up, so they see her body on the table there.
- 1:13:20And then Ed Junior, takes it upon himself to walk Pam in the
- 1:13:24shed, which is a strange decision.
- 1:13:27Like, why are you considering the fact that once he starts
- 1:13:29fighting Big Ed, he gets knocked the fuck out.
- 1:13:32So she a Sitting Duck but she manages to break out with Pam is
- 1:13:37getting shit done in this movie. And is the actual hero of this
- 1:13:41movie. Yeah.
- 1:13:42She's even when they actually gets results in this and she's
- 1:13:45yeah, she are in this because she was actually skeptical of
- 1:13:48the entire thing to begin with. But anyways, she knocks him
- 1:13:53down. She takes like the little, in
- 1:13:57the first scene whenever they first arrived there and edging.
- 1:14:00He was like, showing himself. He had like a thing, like a
- 1:14:03framed achievement that big-ass head where he like through this
- 1:14:08kind of like, Pointed object, I'm not entirely sure what it
- 1:14:11is. They don't even think it kind of
- 1:14:13gloss over what it makes me, think of.
- 1:14:15So, if you've ever seen can pout enter the fist.
- 1:14:18Yeah, it's yeah. It's like the nipple thing.
- 1:14:22The nipple things that he liked, he can't get because, yeah, it's
- 1:14:25a metal pyramid. Yeah, that's what it is
- 1:14:27basically. But like he apparently, like,
- 1:14:30through it in a wall and framed the thing in the wall.
- 1:14:34Anyway, she found one of those and throws it in his head, which
- 1:14:37I have to think is like a huge blow to his Office seem because
- 1:14:40she did it first try to his head.
- 1:14:43Looking good for her. Yeah, I love that.
- 1:14:46Pam is not here for anybody's bullshit.
- 1:14:49Yeah, she fucking takes care of business here but she only tcb's
- 1:14:53to soubise that's how you do it right there.
- 1:14:56She grabbed said, Junior, they get into the car.
- 1:14:58The car is just as we had seen before is bad at starting.
- 1:15:02So my car battery died. It's been a whole Adventure this
- 1:15:06weekend. Apparently my battery is also
- 1:15:08backwards so we Almost completely shorted, the fucking
- 1:15:11thing. It's been nothing but listening
- 1:15:13to the car sputters. I was like, oh yeah.
- 1:15:15Same fill it and get it. Yeah, I really love this moment
- 1:15:20to because Ed is getting frustrated because he's like now
- 1:15:24you flooded the engine and she was like, and he was like,
- 1:15:28sorry, very stressed. Right now, like I get both of
- 1:15:31their emotions in this moment. Yeah.
- 1:15:33Yeah. I love it.
- 1:15:34Yeah. I understand to like, I mean,
- 1:15:36no, they have to sit there that kind of like sitting ducks.
- 1:15:38He can't move because He's injured.
- 1:15:41Yeah, like, his femoral artery is cut, it looks like.
- 1:15:45Yeah, he got cut in the leg pretty bad, but the battle at
- 1:15:47this point. She's like, all right, well, we
- 1:15:49have to wait a minute to try and start the car again.
- 1:15:52So I'm going to like, give you a tourniquet.
- 1:15:54Well, yeah, so they do that. And then he's like, all right,
- 1:15:56turn on the headlights. So they turn on the headlights,
- 1:16:00big ads gone. And then we see, we cut to the
- 1:16:03front of the car, like our Viewpoint.
- 1:16:06And we see big Ed climbing up from behind.
- 1:16:09Now this Is a convertible and they put the top up but it's not
- 1:16:12a hard top convertible saw. So he thank you, Travis.
- 1:16:16Yes. That is that.
- 1:16:17It's just so everybody knows. But yeah.
- 1:16:22So he like, cuts through the roof and he like grabs ad, and
- 1:16:27they do this whole clumsy thing where they're trying to get the
- 1:16:30lighter out of the car, which were movies.
- 1:16:33Have convinced me that we need to have the built-in Liars.
- 1:16:35Still very useful. Nothing else other than
- 1:16:38self-defense. Yeah.
- 1:16:41So it's enough to like distract him at this moment, the cops
- 1:16:44pull up. And they're like, oh wait,
- 1:16:46what's happening? And then the car finally starts
- 1:16:50and Pam tcb's yet again and like we're versus at top speed into a
- 1:16:56retaining wall. In it chops.
- 1:17:00Big Ed in fucking half but not before again, like pieces.
- 1:17:06So the cop comes over seas. Big Ed's dead.
- 1:17:09Body. And he's like yep he's dead
- 1:17:12except big add hops up for one more second and cuts.
- 1:17:15The cops legs. Yeah.
- 1:17:16He like the cops don't do anything.
- 1:17:18They show up. And even when he's like in half,
- 1:17:21he grabs, his battle-axe and chops off, this guy's leg.
- 1:17:24Like it's so crazy. Like I like the ending their
- 1:17:28good because like, you don't expect that.
- 1:17:30I had forgotten all about that. Honestly, I was like, okay no,
- 1:17:33he's dead. Yep.
- 1:17:35And then we see Ed and Pam and the hospital.
- 1:17:39And then we get closing credits with fabric, all right, and I
- 1:17:45want one final detail. This movie was originally
- 1:17:48supposed to end differently. Okay, how was it supposed to
- 1:17:50end? It was going in with him being
- 1:17:53cut in half by a drawbridge. That's terrifying.
- 1:17:58It is and they the only reason they didn't shoot it is because
- 1:18:02they reached out to like the town.
- 1:18:06Like, all right. Do you guys have a good
- 1:18:07drawbridge that we can use for the scene and then people like
- 1:18:11whenever they heard their intentions for that guy?
- 1:18:13Yeah, I don't know for a comfortable with doing that
- 1:18:17endorsement the city needs right now.
- 1:18:18Yeah, I mean, especially for a guy that has never made a movie
- 1:18:21before. He said, yeah, making him a very
- 1:18:22first movie. I want to cut a guy in half with
- 1:18:24her your drawbridge No, I don't know if I would be bored.
- 1:18:29Yeah I mean I like the idea but I think that they do good with
- 1:18:33the ending that they have here to works just as well.
- 1:18:35He gets cut in half still. Yeah.
- 1:18:37So yeah. But yeah, that's the end of the
- 1:18:39movie. Okay.
- 1:18:41Have I done anything to persuade you into bumping?
- 1:18:44This up any I think I will bump it up to 5.5.
- 1:18:47I did have fun talking about this.
- 1:18:50I will give it slightly above average scores I still think You
- 1:18:57know, like like a McDonald's hamburger like there's not a lot
- 1:19:02to it, but it's classic simple. It hits.
- 1:19:04When you need it to there's a Nostalgia factor to it, you
- 1:19:10know, I like I'm not going to call it a complete, nothing
- 1:19:13Burger. There is more to it than I
- 1:19:14thought. There would be when we talk
- 1:19:16about it. I did not expect this episode to
- 1:19:18be an hour and a half and it is. Yeah.
- 1:19:21So I like and I have fun talking about it.
- 1:19:24We're good time. And honestly that is That will
- 1:19:28sway me a lot of the times if we can enjoy talking about.
- 1:19:31Yeah I mean that's how I feel too this movie.
- 1:19:34I think I'm going to put mine up a little bit to think I'm going
- 1:19:36to give it a six and a half not by much but you know like that's
- 1:19:43getting pretty good. I think that I mean kind of like
- 1:19:46what I said before like the highlights are very fun movies,
- 1:19:50very slow in some parts. Not know what happens but it's
- 1:19:54fun man. Whenever you see those skills,
- 1:19:57some of these characters are like super over the top and
- 1:19:59ridiculous. But in a fun way kind of?
- 1:20:02Yeah, I mean it's a type of movie that I think like you can
- 1:20:07watch repeatedly and like have like, I think this is one that
- 1:20:10grows on you. The more you wash it, I would
- 1:20:12definitely agree with that. Like there's a thing.
- 1:20:15Well bunch of charm is a thing, I think more.
- 1:20:17So with these older movies because even the low-budget ones
- 1:20:21Roi way better than today, will budget, because anybody can make
- 1:20:26a movie now About like the barrier for entry for this stuff
- 1:20:29before was like, you had to have like a couple thousand dollars
- 1:20:35at least to get equipment to do it.
- 1:20:38Yeah, pretty digital film. Looks nice.
- 1:20:41No matter what. So you have to try really hard
- 1:20:44to make it look like shit, but yeah, have fun.
- 1:20:48Having a fun with this movie but there's a lot that could do
- 1:20:52better. Okay, Talia got really mad at
- 1:20:56the song of them. Beginning when she barked, she
- 1:20:58was not a fan of the song and then she had to go out at 19
- 1:21:02minutes and 29 seconds, but she watched the rest of this movie.
- 1:21:05So I feel like she's sold Lea five.
- 1:21:07Like it's very middle of the road for her.
- 1:21:09Yeah, I think she feels. I mean, she likes the title.
- 1:21:12Mutilator The yes, yeah, Zoe did.
- 1:21:15Watch it with us. She was on the couch the whole
- 1:21:17time. So he was there.
- 1:21:20Do you want to know my changes? Yeah, go ahead.
- 1:21:24So I think the biggest thing that I would change is just
- 1:21:27Like, have a little bit more. Something to their time there,
- 1:21:33it's almost there but it definitely has that sense of
- 1:21:36like or filling time. There's a couple really good
- 1:21:40tense moments like with the Blind Man's buff.
- 1:21:43I want to see more of that. Yeah I agree with that.
- 1:21:45Like there's a lot of potential for tense moments and they only
- 1:21:52have one really good 10 seen, everything else.
- 1:21:54Kind of Falls flat. Yeah, probably could have made.
- 1:21:57The policy more sense? If you know if we'd known he was
- 1:21:59there the whole time. Yeah, like I mean you see his
- 1:22:01silhouette outside but you never like he's suddenly in the pool
- 1:22:05underwater. Like, okay cool.
- 1:22:07Yeah. Just you know, be a little bit
- 1:22:10better about it. Oh, Captain Sherman, use it.
- 1:22:13All right, so we did the call for views pretty early on this.
- 1:22:17So I don't have any listener use, but not really, but we do
- 1:22:22the kind of weight. Like, it's not even been a full
- 1:22:24day's. Well, yeah, because again, we
- 1:22:26were dealing with Dead car battery yesterday when we
- 1:22:29normally would have put out the call for these.
- 1:22:31So yeah. But okay.
- 1:22:33I think I got a pretty fun little user review on IMDb.
- 1:22:37Okay? So this is by somebody that
- 1:22:39review this back in 2005, okay? Before it had a DVD releases,
- 1:22:44it's like somebody. I was still watching shit on
- 1:22:46VHS. Give her them.
- 1:22:47All right Ritz it are you going to read that whole thing?
- 1:22:51Well we have it's not that big we all have with Surya.
- 1:22:54So whatever went along, reviews Fun.
- 1:22:57Okay plus I love with this Stars.
- 1:23:01Okay so it's titled one of the best slashers period here yet.
- 1:23:07It begins. Okay, picky pants.
- 1:23:10Which slasher flick has a good play acting script?
- 1:23:13Well I'm waiting. Yeah that's what I thought.
- 1:23:17This is a straight-up old-school stock and / entry with imagined
- 1:23:23child-killing under repentant nastiness bad.
- 1:23:27And all of those things that made 80 / Fest so bad, they were
- 1:23:31good. This didn't have the budget of
- 1:23:34the burning or the per hour, but it is an impressive effort.
- 1:23:37Nonetheless, also didn't have Tom motherfuckin savini, which
- 1:23:41both those movies did somebody mention.
- 1:23:43I compared it to savini effects in.
- 1:23:45Like, another thing that I was reading to, which, I agree, it's
- 1:23:48very similar. All right, quintessentially
- 1:23:51American by the number slasher that delivers the gore Goods.
- 1:23:55All Let's get that right there because he's just asking for
- 1:24:00people to release it on DVD which not relevant anymore.
- 1:24:04We're going on a fall break. Parentheses fall break.
- 1:24:08Thank you. Psy.
- 1:24:09Do they go swimming in a pool in the ocean is right there.
- 1:24:12Who cares? The mutilator roles?
- 1:24:15You know what? I like this guy's energy about
- 1:24:17it. I like how passionate he is.
- 1:24:19So of the I like that. He understands how absurd it is
- 1:24:24and he just has fun with it. Anyway.
- 1:24:26And this is the I for shit, like we say that, we like to talk
- 1:24:29about the good, the bad, the ugly, and the Absurd, and all of
- 1:24:31our favorite horror movies. And this guy gets it.
- 1:24:33Yeah, that means he's straight up early.
- 1:24:35All right. It's not great.
- 1:24:36But like okay, mr. Picky pan.
- 1:24:38And maybe we're not at the same level as him with it, but I
- 1:24:41appreciate his enthusiasm for it.
- 1:24:42He gets it like he gets it. Yeah.
- 1:24:45I mean in that he even explains like which car is the correct
- 1:24:48kind. Yeah.
- 1:24:49If you know you're watching the unrated which according to him
- 1:24:52is if it's the scene with The Gap, if it's more than like two
- 1:24:56seconds. You're watching the unrated
- 1:24:58version. Okay which we did.
- 1:24:59That was a very extended shy of that that we saw.
- 1:25:03Yeah I like his energy to like I you know I agree not all movies
- 1:25:08in to be these perfect. Perfect pop rivet characters.
- 1:25:11As long as it's fun and enjoyable, that's all that
- 1:25:13matters. Like I said I had more fun with
- 1:25:15it this time than I did the first time.
- 1:25:17And after talking about it I do think it's just the movie itself
- 1:25:21that I had more fun with. I know at the beginning I
- 1:25:24couldn't tell if it was just because it came right after the
- 1:25:27It hot and nonsense. That was six plots.
- 1:25:31But yeah. So so you it's enjoyable.
- 1:25:35I'm coming around on it. You can you can do a re-watch of
- 1:25:38it. I could do it every watch on it.
- 1:25:39All right. Cool.
- 1:25:40Well, I might buy this movie is some point because, yeah, I know
- 1:25:43II as soon as you talk about all the special effects Arrow had, I
- 1:25:46knew that it was going to be like arriving at her house at
- 1:25:48some point. Maybe so undecided, but me the
- 1:25:52leader to will be out very soon. What is your what is your hope
- 1:25:56for that? We're talking about illiteracy
- 1:25:58equal. Okay yeah let's anticipate what
- 1:26:01the sequel from you. L too will be Ed.
- 1:26:03Finally has sex him and Pam have been married and she's not just
- 1:26:10like after marriage. She's like after like 15 years
- 1:26:13of marriage, like I really want to be sure before I do this, and
- 1:26:17he has this pent-up horniest, the entire time.
- 1:26:22And then his kid kills her. No.
- 1:26:25They finally have sex. Yeah, and he comes so hard.
- 1:26:30It bursts her chest. Oh yes.
- 1:26:32Like his mom. Yeah.
- 1:26:35Oh my God. Yes.
- 1:26:37And it sounds like it triggered something.
- 1:26:39Yeah, like he's history. Yeah, it's like, oh wow.
- 1:26:42Yeah, that's perfect man. Buddy, Cooper.
- 1:26:45I know you've already finished filming, but go do some rewrites
- 1:26:47because I guarantee you didn't cannot come up with shit as
- 1:26:50beautiful as that as long as the tone is, right.
- 1:26:52You're not taking this shit? Seriously, I think that that
- 1:26:54would be like It'd be an amazing way to set the tone for the
- 1:26:58movie. Like fuck, yes.
- 1:26:59Is going to be stupid shit. He hasn't got to eat this up.
- 1:27:02It's going to be amazing. The waiter to.
- 1:27:06What's the subtitle like is it fall break, or is it spring
- 1:27:10break? Do do spring break?
- 1:27:15Summer break. I don't have a good one for you.
- 1:27:17It's got to be a season. It's got to be brakes on some
- 1:27:20season. Break me off a piece of that
- 1:27:23Kit, Kat bar. That's the one.
- 1:27:24There we go. We got it right there.
- 1:27:26All right, buddy. Cooper, you write this shit
- 1:27:29down. Call us have your people call RV
- 1:27:31every right, that shit. Where were you needing this
- 1:27:33thing? Like we renamed fall break?
- 1:27:38All right, that's it. No.
- 1:27:40Who did you relate to? I related to It's kind of weird,
- 1:27:50man. I know these people are
- 1:27:53incredibly relatable. I related to the cop who just
- 1:27:57does his fucking job. I'll tell him the teenagers.
- 1:28:00He's going to do what they ask is like.
- 1:28:01Yeah sure know whatever. And then he just goes and does
- 1:28:03this fucking job because that's his job.
- 1:28:05I really did that guy. Okay.
- 1:28:09Responsible older gentleman. You are.
- 1:28:15I think I'm going to relate to, I don't know, man.
- 1:28:23This is a tough one. I'm going to relate to the cop
- 1:28:26that gets us collect chopped off fucking man.
- 1:28:29Just if I can't lead anybody, I'm gonna like, what something?
- 1:28:33I'm going to relate to somebody that didn't deserve any shit to
- 1:28:35happen to them. All right?
- 1:28:36Now, that's it for this week, okay?

- 1:30:50I want to hear what people think about it.

- 1:30:58like, a legitimately good movie. Yeah.
- 1:31:00Are you a mr. Picky pants.
