- 0:02Speaker 2: Until you can be thankful for something that is not enough,
- 0:09Speaker 2: then what you have cannot be multiplied into what is
- 0:14Speaker 2: more than enough. But when you can take it and say, Lord,
- 0:17Speaker 2: I know this is not the job I wanted. I
- 0:19Speaker 2: know this is not the house I want it. I
- 0:21Speaker 2: know this is not the marriage I expected. I know
- 0:25Speaker 2: this child is not living up to my expectation. But
- 0:28Speaker 2: I still lift it up and I thank you for it.

- 0:54Speaker 3: Welcome to the Potter's Touch. I'm your host for today,
- 0:57Speaker 3: Sarah Henson. I've got an incredible message for you. It's
- 1:01Speaker 3: called Save the Scraps. No matter what you're thinking is about,
- 1:05Speaker 3: you're wrong. You have to watch this message for yourself.
- 1:08Speaker 3: Be blessed and take a look.
- 1:11Speaker 2: Understand that Jesus most of his ministry, all of his ministry,
- 1:14Speaker 2: is comprised between the age of thirty and about thirty three,
- 1:18Speaker 2: three years of ministry. Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John are
- 1:22Speaker 2: written about those three years of ministry. Jesus Christ, who
- 1:27Speaker 2: is neither famous nor significant, born with mediocre surroundings, beggarly
- 1:34Speaker 2: almost if you please, the son of a carpenter, does
- 1:39Speaker 2: not step into notoriety. He is not esteemed, he has
- 1:43Speaker 2: not noticed. He is not initially appreciated or respected. He
- 1:48Speaker 2: is born to commoners. He is born in a segment,
- 1:51Speaker 2: in a particular realm of the community that is not
- 1:54Speaker 2: particularly appreciated. The Roman Empire has taken.
- 1:58Speaker 1: Over all of Jerusalem, all of is The Jews.
- 2:00Speaker 2: Are in a position of subsidiary standards and power, and
- 2:04Speaker 2: Jesus is born in the family of people that are
- 2:07Speaker 2: not considered particularly aristocracy. He has no natural leverage that
- 2:14Speaker 2: would cause him to reach prominence, and yet at the
- 2:17Speaker 2: age of thirty he embarks upon the task of ministry.
- 2:22Speaker 2: That ministry is drawn to and extrapolated out of a
- 2:25Speaker 2: divine assignment given him by the Father to be about
- 2:30Speaker 2: his father's business. Are you following what I'm saying? And so,
- 2:35Speaker 2: without the benefit of technology, Jesus begins a ministry that
- 2:40Speaker 2: starts at the marriage of Cana. And we talked about
- 2:42Speaker 2: that a few weeks ago. And he moved from the
- 2:45Speaker 2: marriage of Cana to Nicodemus, stopping by slipping by sneaking
- 2:50Speaker 2: in by night.
- 2:51Speaker 1: To ask him some questions.
- 2:53Speaker 2: Because Nicodemus comes from the Sanhedrin court Pharisee, they were religious,
- 3:00Speaker 2: deeply judicious people who respected the laws of Moses and
- 3:04Speaker 2: were absolute in the fulfillment of the integrities of that law.
- 3:08Speaker 2: And Nicodemus was up under pressure to reject Christ, but
- 3:12Speaker 2: came to Christ by night to say, I perceive something
- 3:15Speaker 2: about you that is distinctive and set apart from other people.
- 3:19Speaker 2: Jesus continues his ministry and stops by the well and
- 3:23Speaker 2: sits down by the well and waits all day at
- 3:26Speaker 2: the well for a woman who comes.
- 3:28Speaker 1: Up at an unusual time.
- 3:30Speaker 2: She does not come down to the well at the
- 3:32Speaker 2: normal hour of watering, when women came early in the morning.
- 3:36Speaker 1: She is not one of.
- 3:37Speaker 2: Those women who benefited from being accepted by other women.
- 3:40Speaker 2: There are some women that women just don't like. Such
- 3:46Speaker 2: what's the case with this woman? In an attempt to
- 3:49Speaker 2: avoid the sociological pressure of being rejected by other women,
- 3:53Speaker 2: born and raised in a misogenic society that does not
- 3:56Speaker 2: appreciate the establishment of women's lips to the well in
- 4:01Speaker 2: the afternoon, and Jesus is sitting at the well waiting
- 4:05Speaker 2: on her to come, and he begins to minister to
- 4:07Speaker 2: her at the well. A conversation ensues that is very
- 4:10Speaker 2: similar to that that he has had with Nicodemus. It
- 4:14Speaker 2: is similar from the perspective, and I begin to study
- 4:17Speaker 2: the two of them, is that neither of them really
- 4:19Speaker 2: understood what Jesus.
- 4:21Speaker 1: Was talking about.
- 4:22Speaker 2: Nicodemus misses it when Jesus says to him, you must
- 4:25Speaker 2: be born again. Nicodemus, thinking natural in the face of
- 4:29Speaker 2: a spiritual Christ, tries to put a natural application to
- 4:32Speaker 2: a spiritual word and says, how can a man, when
- 4:35Speaker 2: he is old enter back into his mother's womb. In
- 4:38Speaker 2: the same struggle to understand where Jesus is coming from,
- 4:42Speaker 2: the woman at the well thinks she really has water
- 4:46Speaker 2: that Christ needs. She understands in her natural mind that
- 4:51Speaker 2: her water quenches thirst. Jesus begins to make her understand, woman,
- 4:55Speaker 2: if you drink of the water that you have, you
- 4:58Speaker 2: will thirst again. But if if you drink of the
- 5:00Speaker 2: water that I have, you will never thirst again. He
- 5:05Speaker 2: is trying to do a comparative analysis between that that
- 5:08Speaker 2: is natural and that.
- 5:09Speaker 1: That is spiritual.
- 5:10Speaker 2: His struggle is is to begin to infiltrate a culture
- 5:14Speaker 2: and a society that thinks so superficially that they cannot
- 5:20Speaker 2: grasp the magnitude of what he has come to see
- 5:24Speaker 2: because Jesus operates on another level, on another plane, and
- 5:28Speaker 2: another dimensions. His thoughts above our thoughts, his ways above
- 5:32Speaker 2: our way, so beyond us that they cannot comprehend the
- 5:35Speaker 2: magnitude of what he is saying. He is beginning his ministry.
- 5:40Speaker 2: He has been baptized in the Jordan River. John has
- 5:43Speaker 2: more prestige than Jesus. John is more notable and more
- 5:47Speaker 2: recognized than Jesus. But the moment that John baptizes Jesus,
- 5:51Speaker 2: he begins to decrease that Christ might increase. Most of
- 5:55Speaker 2: his miracles have occurred within a vacuum, as it were,
- 5:59Speaker 2: within a small matrix, in a house on the side
- 6:02Speaker 2: of the road with one or two people. But even
- 6:05Speaker 2: though he starts in a very mundane environment, he begins
- 6:09Speaker 2: to increase to such magnitude that he has drawn a following. Now,
- 6:14Speaker 2: the Bible says, five thousand men, not to mention the
- 6:18Speaker 2: women and children have gathered to hear Jesus speak. Five
- 6:23Speaker 2: thousand men suggests that there were perhaps at least fifteen
- 6:28Speaker 2: thousand people there. They didn't count the women or the children,
- 6:32Speaker 2: only the men, But five thousand men gathered around the
- 6:37Speaker 2: desert place to hear Jesus, and he spoke with so
- 6:40Speaker 2: much power that the hours had slipped away, and the
- 6:44Speaker 2: time had slipped away, and the people were so hungry
- 6:46Speaker 2: they were about to fate, but they could not resist
- 6:50Speaker 2: hearing Jesus. Might not pause in the prelude of what
- 6:53Speaker 2: I'm saying to you to say how odd I am
- 6:56Speaker 2: by this, because Jesus has a mass, a crowd of
- 7:00Speaker 2: incomprehensible proportion beyond human imagination, in a society that really
- 7:05Speaker 2: doesn't have a lot of people. We have increased in
- 7:08Speaker 2: the world today from in the last one hundred years
- 7:10Speaker 2: from four billion people to about seven billion. People in
- 7:15Speaker 2: the world today were growing at leaps and brown with
- 7:17Speaker 2: in the days of Christ, the world was not that
- 7:19Speaker 2: strongly inhabited in this particular part, with even.
- 7:22Speaker 1: Less to a mass.
- 7:23Speaker 2: Five thousand men not to mention women and children is
- 7:26Speaker 2: quite a feat. Consider with me that Jesus never had
- 7:30Speaker 2: a business card, that he had no websites, he had
- 7:35Speaker 2: no radio ministry, he had no television ministry, he did
- 7:39Speaker 2: not stream over the internet, he did not preach with
- 7:41Speaker 2: a microphone. And yet five thousand men not to mention
- 7:45Speaker 2: women and children have gathered down to hear a man
- 7:48Speaker 2: speak without a microphone. So engrossed and so overwhelmed by
- 7:53Speaker 2: what he said, they stayed all day to hear him
- 7:57Speaker 2: speak with five thousand people. If you were in the back,
- 8:01Speaker 2: you couldn't hardly catch a word. But his words were
- 8:04Speaker 2: so poltent, they were so life giving, they were so
- 8:06Speaker 2: earth shaking, they were so transitional. Thinking that people had
- 8:10Speaker 2: gathered and come away from their background and their religious ideologies,
- 8:14Speaker 2: and their concepts, and their preconceived concepts, just to come
- 8:18Speaker 2: in hopes that the wind might carry his voice to
- 8:21Speaker 2: the back of the crowd to hear what the spirit
- 8:24Speaker 2: of the Lord was saying to the terror and before
- 8:27Speaker 2: they would leave him, they would rather faith of hunger
- 8:31Speaker 2: than to miss a word that proceeded out of his mouth.
- 8:35Speaker 2: For the Bible is quite clear that man shall not
- 8:37Speaker 2: live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth
- 8:41Speaker 2: out of the mouth of God. So given a choice
- 8:43Speaker 2: between the bread and the word, they chose the word.
- 8:47Speaker 2: The young Disciples, his executive board has gathered around him
- 8:51Speaker 2: and says, Pastor, we have a situation. Oh yeah, what's
- 8:54Speaker 2: the problem, He said, You're a long winded pastor. The
- 9:02Speaker 2: people are about to faint of hunger, and we have
- 9:05Speaker 2: no food. We should send them away, and Jesus says
- 9:10Speaker 2: they need not depart. Using this as a teaching moment,
- 9:16Speaker 2: he begins to say, what do you have? Miracles always
- 9:20Speaker 2: begin with the recognition of what you have. If you
- 9:24Speaker 2: don't recognize what you have, you can never multiply what
- 9:30Speaker 2: you have.
- 9:30Speaker 1: Not recognized what do you have?
- 9:33Speaker 2: And you know the story as well as I do
- 9:35Speaker 2: that there is a little boy there with two fish
- 9:38Speaker 2: and five loaves of bread. What was ironic to me
- 9:41Speaker 2: as I thought about it, is that they didn't even
- 9:44Speaker 2: count the women or the children, and yet the one
- 9:48Speaker 2: who wasn't counted was the one who had the miracle.
- 9:54Speaker 2: Isn't it amazing that God uses people that other people
- 9:59Speaker 2: don't don't.
- 10:00Speaker 3: Count still to come on the Potter's touch.
- 10:06Speaker 2: That refuses to be broken, refuses to be blessed.
- 10:13Speaker 1: It is the.
- 10:13Speaker 2: Breaking of life that produces the blessing of life. Now,
- 10:19Speaker 2: I know a lot of you don't understand that because
- 10:21Speaker 2: you yourselves have not been broken. But I have noticed
- 10:24Speaker 2: in my life that the most blessed people I have
- 10:27Speaker 2: ever met in my life have gone through something that
- 10:31Speaker 2: broke them.
- 10:35Speaker 1: The best miracles in your life.
- 10:39Speaker 4: Take time discover your blessing is right around the corner
- 10:42Speaker 4: with Bishop Jake series in between Miracles.
- 10:45Speaker 2: Sometimes you've got to get yourself structured and in order
- 10:48Speaker 2: so that you are ready to receive the magnitude of what.
- 10:51Speaker 1: God has for you.
- 10:52Speaker 2: If the enemy took your stocks, and he took your bonds,
- 10:55Speaker 2: and he took your benefits, and he took your assurance,
- 10:58Speaker 2: and it took your job, and it took the house,
- 11:00Speaker 2: and it took your car, as long as it didn't
- 11:03Speaker 2: take your expectation, you can still get a breakthrough. There's
- 11:07Speaker 2: no shoot way to be pushed. You're gonna have to
- 11:10Speaker 2: go through some tight places. But what is all said
- 11:14Speaker 2: and done, God is going to bat you.
- 11:18Speaker 4: It too.
- 11:20Speaker 1: Off that you have dam off off default.
- 11:24Speaker 4: Don't get discouraged by your circumstances. God has a plan
- 11:28Speaker 4: to bless you. Order this life changing series today. When
- 11:31Speaker 4: you write to us, visit our website. We'll call one
- 11:34Speaker 4: hundred bishop to it.
- 11:36Speaker 2: There are men rebuilding their lives and everybody in their
- 11:40Speaker 2: life is pulling in there. If everything is making a
- 11:42Speaker 2: withdrawal and nothing is making the deposit, after a while,
- 11:45Speaker 2: you become bankrupt when a man becomes bankrupt, he becomes dangerous.
- 11:48Speaker 2: We want to head off that bankruptcy of the soul
- 11:52Speaker 2: and give the men a place where they can get
- 11:54Speaker 2: a deposit. You cannot do it if everything is going
- 11:58Speaker 2: out and nothing is coming here. Manpower, where men talk,
- 12:03Speaker 2: I believe we need to talk. They were so busy
- 12:11Speaker 2: counting who they thought was significant that they didn't count
- 12:15Speaker 2: the very one that God had moved into a position
- 12:18Speaker 2: to release a blessing that was of such paramount importance
- 12:22Speaker 2: that he says, go back and see what you had.
- 12:25Speaker 2: It's not in anything you counted. God will always use
- 12:29Speaker 2: something that was not counted to produce the miracle. You
- 12:34Speaker 2: know the story how the little boy brings his lunch,
- 12:37Speaker 2: no doubt, something his mother had packed for him to
- 12:39Speaker 2: fish and five loads of bread, and Jesus takes the
- 12:43Speaker 2: two fish and five loads of bread, commanding the disciples
- 12:46Speaker 2: to have the crowd set down into groups of fifty
- 12:52Speaker 2: groups of fifty. This took some time for hungry people
- 12:57Speaker 2: five thousand men, not to mention women and children. Estimate
- 13:00Speaker 2: maybe fifteen thousand people have to be coordinated into groups
- 13:03Speaker 2: of fifty, organized, implemented, and placed in the seats and
- 13:07Speaker 2: told to sit down, and they're already about to faint.
- 13:11Speaker 2: But the best miracles in your life take time. Cannot
- 13:17Speaker 2: be driven by hunger or need or necessity. Sometimes you've
- 13:21Speaker 2: got to get yourself structured and in order so that
- 13:24Speaker 2: you are ready to receive the magnitude of what God
- 13:27Speaker 2: has for you. Just because you have a driving need
- 13:31Speaker 2: does not mean that you can disperse with the order
- 13:35Speaker 2: and the time and the structure that it's necessary to
- 13:38Speaker 2: hold the weight of what God is going to do.
- 13:41Speaker 2: Some people are so busy trying to get what God
- 13:44Speaker 2: has that they don't provide the structure that it's necessary
- 13:48Speaker 2: to sustain what they have been given. Or you don't
- 13:51Speaker 2: hear what I'm saying, But the preponderance of time is
- 13:56Speaker 2: spent preparing them for what God is about to do.
- 14:00Speaker 2: And when they were all seated and in place and
- 14:03Speaker 2: had all been counted, went from not counted to count it,
- 14:11Speaker 2: then the miracle begins to occur. And He took it
- 14:16Speaker 2: and he blessed it. I like to talk about that,
- 14:21Speaker 2: because He's blessing something that is not enough. Until you
- 14:33Speaker 2: can be thankful for something that is not enough, then
- 14:45Speaker 2: what you have cannot be multiplied. Into what is more
- 14:50Speaker 2: than enough. But when you can take it and say, Lord,
- 14:53Speaker 2: I know this is not the job I wanted. I
- 14:55Speaker 2: know this is not the house I wanted. I know
- 14:58Speaker 2: this is not the marriage expected. I know this child
- 15:02Speaker 2: is not living up to my expectation. But I still
- 15:05Speaker 2: lift it up and I thank you for it. You'll
- 15:09Speaker 2: never get the multiplication as long as you're ungrateful. But
- 15:13Speaker 2: when you become thankful for what he has done, rather
- 15:17Speaker 2: than waiting on what he is going to do. You
- 15:19Speaker 2: know the story, and he took it and he blessed it.
- 15:29Speaker 2: And when he took it and he blessed it, we
- 15:32Speaker 2: know it was two fish and five loads of bread.
- 15:35Speaker 2: We have a correct inventory. We are certain that he
- 15:38Speaker 2: had two fish and five loads of bread when he
- 15:41Speaker 2: blessed it. As he broke it, that's where we lose count.
- 15:49Speaker 2: You understand then, that the blessing is in the breaking
- 16:01Speaker 2: that refuses to be broken, refuses to be blessed. It
- 16:08Speaker 2: is the breaking of life that produces the blessing of life. Now,
- 16:14Speaker 2: I know a lot of you don't understand that because
- 16:16Speaker 2: you yourselves have not been broken. But I have noticed
- 16:19Speaker 2: in my life that the most blessed people I have
- 16:22Speaker 2: ever met in my life have gone through something that
- 16:26Speaker 2: broke them. Look at the neighbors, say have you ever
- 16:34Speaker 2: been broken? The blessing? The blessing is in the breaking.
- 16:45Speaker 2: And the more he broke it, the more it multiplied.
- 16:49Speaker 2: And we can't keep count of it because every time
- 16:52Speaker 2: he broke it, it multiplied in his hands. Every time.
- 16:58Speaker 2: Can I take a moment and thank God for every
- 17:01Speaker 2: breaking in my life, every every little time he snapped
- 17:08Speaker 2: me and broke me and twisted me and taught me
- 17:12Speaker 2: I thought he was killing me. He wasn't killing me.
- 17:17Speaker 2: He was blessing me. Every time he broke me. Every
- 17:26Speaker 2: time you left me, every time they forsook me, every
- 17:32Speaker 2: time they betrayed me, every time they alienated me. They
- 17:38Speaker 2: thought they were cursing me, but they were wrong. God
- 17:42Speaker 2: was blessing me, and so and so it goes. Look
- 17:54Speaker 2: at the neighbor and say, have you ever been broken?
- 17:59Speaker 1: Have you ever? Have you ever been broken? Home? Broken?
- 18:10Speaker 2: Heart broken, dreams broken, imaginations, broken, hopes broken. The greatest
- 18:21Speaker 2: blessings come in the hardest breakings of your life. He
- 18:29Speaker 2: fed the multitude through the breaking process until all of
- 18:35Speaker 2: them had been served. This is the method whereby he
- 18:39Speaker 2: uses Jesus does not feed them directly. He breaks it,
- 18:44Speaker 2: gives it to the disciples, and then the disciples feed
- 18:49Speaker 2: the people. You have to learn how to eat God's blessing,
- 18:55Speaker 2: even if he brings it at somebody else's hand.
- 19:02Speaker 1: Imagine sitting there with her.
- 19:04Speaker 2: Father talking about I'm not gonna say nobody about Jesus.
- 19:07Speaker 2: If Jesus don't margian it, I'm not eating. It's got
- 19:08Speaker 2: to be the law. You would have starved.
- 19:13Speaker 1: To death. He could have stopped saying.
- 19:22Speaker 2: He knew what they had, he knew where it was,
- 19:26Speaker 2: he knew how many it was. He could have stopped
- 19:29Speaker 2: breaking it at the point the five thousand were fed.
- 19:34Speaker 2: But the real power of the text is not in
- 19:38Speaker 2: what they ate. The real power of the text isn't
- 19:43Speaker 2: what they had left. He purposely designed it so that
- 19:50Speaker 2: there would be leftovers. Now, a real good chef, I'm
- 19:56Speaker 2: not talking about Grandma, A real good chef can get
- 20:01Speaker 2: account of the guests and prepare the food in proportion
- 20:05Speaker 2: to the people.
- 20:08Speaker 1: God never misses.
- 20:10Speaker 2: If he wanted to be precise, he could have been precise.
- 20:15Speaker 2: He chose for them to have overflowed. Don't let people
- 20:28Speaker 2: tell you that God just wants to give you enough.
- 20:35Speaker 2: His name El Shadai means more than enough. Why would
- 20:41Speaker 2: a god whose name means more than enough.
- 20:44Speaker 1: Stop ad enough?
- 20:47Speaker 2: Why would David say, my cup runneth over. Unless you've
- 20:52Speaker 2: got a blind waitress. The waitress can see when the
- 20:56Speaker 2: cup is full and stops pouring in proportion.
- 21:02Speaker 1: To the size of the cup.
- 21:04Speaker 2: But God says, when I pull you out a blessing,
- 21:07Speaker 2: I am not limited to your capacity.
- 21:11Speaker 1: To receive what I have.
- 21:13Speaker 2: I intend for you to have overflow so that your
- 21:17Speaker 2: children and your children's children and your children's children. I
- 21:30Speaker 2: cooked a banana pudding the other day. I didn't want
- 21:36Speaker 2: to do it, but up under duress and cores and
- 21:41Speaker 2: I had to pull my apron out of storage and
- 21:46Speaker 2: fix the banana pudding. I told them banana puddings have
- 21:49Speaker 2: nothing to do with Thanksgiving. I said, that's a summer
- 21:52Speaker 2: dessert with ribs and baked beans and potato salad. They said, well,
- 21:57Speaker 2: it must be summer because we want you to fix
- 22:02Speaker 2: and and and and I learned something or the children
- 22:05Speaker 2: know something that I learned years ago. It's good on
- 22:09Speaker 2: the first day, but if you wanted to really be right,
- 22:26Speaker 2: it's all about those leftovers. On that second day, when
- 22:30Speaker 2: all of those seasonings have become so intertwined that you
- 22:34Speaker 2: can't tell what's what what one from the other where
- 22:38Speaker 2: you can't the wafers have gotten together with the bananas
- 22:42Speaker 2: and mixed all up.
- 22:49Speaker 1: So Jesus says, here's not.
- 22:51Speaker 2: De limit, here's here's my whole case this morning, Jesus
- 22:54Speaker 2: says to them.
- 22:55Speaker 1: When the whole event is over and.
- 22:58Speaker 2: Everybody's about to leave, Jesus speaks to the disciples and says,
- 23:03Speaker 2: gather up the scraps, and the Bible is careful to
- 23:08Speaker 2: give us inventory of how much they had left. Twelve
- 23:13Speaker 2: baskets full left. Now that's overcooking. When you got twelve
- 23:18Speaker 2: baskets full left, you didn't count right, Twelve baskets full
- 23:22Speaker 2: were left, and they loaded them on the boat to leave.
- 23:27Speaker 2: Now here's my dilemma. Why did he have them gather
- 23:33Speaker 2: the scraps? And I would like to think in my
- 23:39Speaker 2: mind that maybe he thought they would get hungry again.
- 23:44Speaker 2: But my problem with that is if they were scraps, fishbones,
- 23:55Speaker 2: half eaten pieces crust off the bread, it doesn't seem
