- 0:00Speaker 1: You know, normally we wait to bring on the VIP guests,
- 0:05Speaker 1: but I just have to jump right in. I am
- 0:07Speaker 1: so taken by how ridiculously breathtaking you are in this episode.
- 0:13Speaker 2: Thank you so much.
- 0:14Speaker 1: I'm not gonna lie Donald. I texted her while I
- 0:16Speaker 1: was watching it and said, you know, I don't mean.
- 0:19Speaker 3: To keep it classic, keep it, keep it class now.
- 0:22Speaker 1: I'm not gonna get in trouble with Bill. I just
- 0:24Speaker 1: want to say I am not to be superficial and
- 0:26Speaker 1: just talk about looks. She's also a very, very very
- 0:29Speaker 1: funny woman. But holy crap, are you beautiful in this episode.
- 0:33Speaker 1: And I can say that because you're being sexual and
- 0:36Speaker 1: luring Johnny C into the bedroom, so I'm allowed to
- 0:38Speaker 1: comment on that, Donald.
- 0:40Speaker 3: But she's doing it in such a that's the way
- 0:42Speaker 3: it's supposed to be. When your booty calling with your
- 0:45Speaker 3: ex right right it comes over, she says, Yo, let's
- 0:48Speaker 3: do this, and you say, yeah, let's do this, and
- 0:50Speaker 3: then that's it.
- 0:52Speaker 2: That's the rule.
- 0:53Speaker 3: Them By the way, Krista, I used to say that
- 0:56Speaker 3: all the time to Casey when I would have her
- 0:59Speaker 3: come over at like, you know, ten thirty at night.
- 1:01Speaker 3: Them's the rules of the booty call baby. I used
- 1:04Speaker 3: to say that shit to her all the time. Really, yeah, absolutely.
- 1:08Speaker 1: Christ I love how in control Jordan is. She just
- 1:12Speaker 1: And I think it's a good I mean not that
- 1:14Speaker 1: we were the first show to ever do this, but
- 1:16Speaker 1: I think it was a good message for women. It
- 1:18Speaker 1: was kind of like, hey, you can be if you
- 1:20Speaker 1: want sex, like, no shame, go get yours, Go be
- 1:23Speaker 1: in charge of the booty call.
- 1:25Speaker 4: Go get yours, make it happen, Make make it happen
- 1:28Speaker 4: for yourself.
- 1:29Speaker 2: I always tell my friends this.
- 1:30Speaker 4: On a different note, you know, know how to make
- 1:33Speaker 4: it happen for yourself and follow through.
- 1:36Speaker 2: Yeah, do want you taking shit off anyone?
- 1:40Speaker 1: Yeah? And Jordan was like, you know, I don't want
- 1:43Speaker 1: to hear you talk, like, just shut up, take your
- 1:45Speaker 1: fucking clothes off.
- 1:46Speaker 5: First of all, how are you sorry?
- 1:48Speaker 1: How are you? I got excited. I was just watching
- 1:50Speaker 1: an episode. I got excited.
- 1:51Speaker 2: I miss you.
- 1:52Speaker 4: And it was so sweet to hear from you guys
- 1:55Speaker 4: for my birthday.
- 1:56Speaker 2: So I really appreciate it.
- 1:57Speaker 3: Thank you, no doubt. How's your corn taming going?
- 2:01Speaker 2: You know it's my web dream to be quarantined.
- 2:06Speaker 1: There's people like Chris I know, and I'm sure if
- 2:09Speaker 1: you're listening, you know who, Like, wait, you're telling me
- 2:11Speaker 1: I don't have to leave the house and no one
- 2:13Speaker 1: will give me a ship.
- 2:17Speaker 4: I mean, you know, it's it's not as easy for
- 2:22Speaker 4: your friend Bill Lawrence, who wants to be around people
- 2:25Speaker 4: all the time.
- 2:26Speaker 1: Yeah, you know.
- 2:27Speaker 2: Does he tell you that I put him downstairs?
- 2:29Speaker 1: Yeah? Tell us about that. He told us that. You said,
- 2:31Speaker 1: that's your office. What's that story.
- 2:33Speaker 4: Well, I anticipated that quarantine would be a disaster for
- 2:37Speaker 4: our marriage and we would ultimately end up divorced if
- 2:40Speaker 4: there weren't certain rules followed. And because Bill left his
- 2:45Speaker 4: own devices, would follow me around the house all day,
- 2:48Speaker 4: want to see what I'm doing, you know, feign interest
- 2:52Speaker 4: in things he wasn't interested in.
- 2:54Speaker 2: And so I put him.
- 2:57Speaker 4: I put a desk in our downstairs guest bedroom. I said,
- 3:01Speaker 4: it all up. Make sure there's a big TV in there.
- 3:04Speaker 4: I set it up as a little pieda tear, like
- 3:07Speaker 4: one might have a little studio apartment in New York.
- 3:10Speaker 2: Yeah, and he is. He can come out for lunch.
- 3:21Speaker 1: By the way, he's so By the way, Bill is
- 3:23Speaker 1: so afraid of Christa. This is a funny thing that
- 3:26Speaker 1: Donald and I have witnessed, like when we did this
- 3:28Speaker 1: show for nine years, Bill was the boss and he
- 3:30Speaker 1: was the big brother, and he could be scary at times,
- 3:33Speaker 1: and then the second he was around Christa, it automatically
- 3:35Speaker 1: switched and he was like yes, Crystal, yes, ch and
- 3:38Speaker 1: Bill was like this isn't a joke. Bill's like, no, no,
- 3:40Speaker 1: I have to go to the office. I'm like, what
- 3:42Speaker 1: do you mean we're in quarantine. He's like no, no,
- 3:43Speaker 1: Krista made an office for me and I have to go.
- 3:50Speaker 3: It's very much It's very much like uh, Cox and Jordan.
- 3:55Speaker 3: I've never seen Cox slump his shoulders like that, like
- 4:00Speaker 3: like he does at the end of the episode sad.
- 4:03Speaker 3: I know, yes, sad body right, You've never see that
- 4:06Speaker 3: in the show. But here comes Jordan and he's like uh.
- 4:10Speaker 3: And Bill walks around and his chest is all out,
- 4:13Speaker 3: and Krista comes around and he sinks down like okay,
- 4:16Speaker 3: you got it.
- 4:17Speaker 5: He submits.
- 4:18Speaker 1: I think that's very healthy for your relationship. I'm sure
- 4:21Speaker 1: you do too, Christa. But like a guy, I mean
- 4:24Speaker 1: talk about that because I think a guy like Bill,
- 4:27Speaker 1: and I know other men and probably women and vice
- 4:29Speaker 1: versa like this when they're at work, they're kind of
- 4:31Speaker 1: the boss. They're the alpha, and they come home and
- 4:34Speaker 1: they need the ying yang of someone be like, no,
- 4:36Speaker 1: you're not the fucking boss anymore. Okay, there's your room,
- 4:38Speaker 1: go to your room.
- 4:39Speaker 4: Yeah I don't I don't work for you, but I
- 4:47Speaker 4: will say this at work because I think Bill is
- 4:51Speaker 4: so talented at his job, and he takes on jokes
- 4:58Speaker 4: and how they should be on is so spun on.
- 5:02Speaker 4: He also has the quality, as you guys know, is
- 5:04Speaker 4: that if you say I want to try it this way,
- 5:07Speaker 4: he'll say try it. If your ways better, He'll say,
- 5:10Speaker 4: you're right, your ways better. So I have a lot
- 5:12Speaker 4: of trusted him so work, actually I was quite You
- 5:15Speaker 4: guys didn't notice it, but that for me was deferential
- 5:19Speaker 4: to Bill.
- 5:19Speaker 2: What you could.
- 5:21Speaker 1: I saw it when you switched to work mode. You
- 5:23Speaker 1: were always like, hey, can I try it this way?
- 5:26Speaker 1: Or you know you you you totally switch. But I
- 5:28Speaker 1: just love because I'm so close with you guys, and
- 5:30Speaker 1: I spent so much time with you at your home.
- 5:33Speaker 1: It's it was always fun from you. I mean now
- 5:35Speaker 1: we're all best friends, but back in the day when
- 5:37Speaker 1: I didn't know you as well, it was always so
- 5:39Speaker 1: much fun for me to see Bill under Christen's thumb.
- 5:44Speaker 4: Wait, Zach has witnessed you. I don't know if you
- 5:46Speaker 4: want to talk about now the stop hug.
- 5:48Speaker 1: I want to Donald's Bill is so pussy whipped. If
- 5:54Speaker 1: I can say that, christ I hope it's not too jarring.
- 6:00Speaker 1: Well they go on to Howard Stern all the time,
- 6:02Speaker 1: these two, and you can say, so everything is going
- 6:05Speaker 1: to be tame compared to what these two talk about
- 6:07Speaker 1: on Howard Stern together. But I Bill is so pussy whipped.
- 6:11Speaker 1: But Christy, you tell the story. But I feel it's
- 6:13Speaker 1: so adorable and my heart goes out for him.
- 6:16Speaker 2: But no, but you you were on my side by
- 6:19Speaker 2: the end of the summer.
- 6:21Speaker 1: No, I never was. I love you, but I felt
- 6:23Speaker 1: the guy, just the guy, just the guy just wants
- 6:26Speaker 1: to hug his wife. The poor guy just wants the
- 6:29Speaker 1: hug his wife.
- 6:29Speaker 4: Maybe I'll have Donald, So Donald, what happens is, I
- 6:34Speaker 4: am I'm the way to be doing something. I'm I'm working,
- 6:38Speaker 4: I'm organizing, I'm writing, and Bill and or I'll have
- 6:42Speaker 4: my hands full of things.
- 6:43Speaker 2: And Bill goes stop hug.
- 6:46Speaker 5: And he.
- 6:52Speaker 2: And he needs to stop hug. And I I would.
- 6:57Speaker 4: Say to Zach decent, it's at you're not explaining it.
- 7:01Speaker 1: Stop hugg stop huggmant that she would have to put
- 7:03Speaker 1: her things down, no matter what was happening and give
- 7:05Speaker 1: him a long, tight embrace. And Christa we were staying
- 7:08Speaker 1: in on Long Island together and Chris, She's like, no,
- 7:11Speaker 1: what the fuck are you talking about? We're not stop
- 7:12Speaker 1: hugging right now.
- 7:14Speaker 4: I'd be we'd be out of the boat and I'm I'm,
- 7:17Speaker 4: you know, tying up the boat or trying to get
- 7:20Speaker 4: the anchor up.
- 7:21Speaker 2: And Bill be like, stop hug No, No.
- 7:26Speaker 1: It's so fun for Donald and I because I mean, it.
- 7:30Speaker 3: Didn't hug us know how long it took for him
- 7:32Speaker 3: to hug us.
- 7:33Speaker 1: He couldn't even hug us. We had to now he's
- 7:35Speaker 1: a hugger. We took it. Took a decade, but we
- 7:38Speaker 1: turned him into a mail On Maile hugger. But in
- 7:40Speaker 1: the beginning, he'd be like, high five, we're huggers. Hit you.
- 7:44Speaker 3: He would tap you on the show.
- 7:45Speaker 4: Hey buddy, Yeah, hey buddy.
- 7:49Speaker 2: No, he would.
- 7:50Speaker 4: He will say, now I'm not speaking out of school,
- 7:53Speaker 4: that he would like to have an adult baby.
- 7:56Speaker 2: Beorn for me to climb into wear me around the
- 8:04Speaker 2: house during quarantine. That's why I had to get him
- 8:07Speaker 2: the office.
- 8:08Speaker 3: But by the way I have today, that sounds amazing.
- 8:12Speaker 1: There are so many husbands and wives. How long have
- 8:15Speaker 1: you been marry twenty years? There are so many husbands
- 8:18Speaker 1: and wives who are so over each other sadly after
- 8:20Speaker 1: twenty years. And Bill is so incredibly in love with you.
- 8:25Speaker 1: I mean it has not turned down one cell from
- 8:28Speaker 1: the day you met. And I think that's so sweet.
- 8:30Speaker 1: So my heart always goes out to him sometimes when
- 8:32Speaker 1: you're like, Bill, go to your fucking office. No, stop hugs, right, Zach,
- 8:38Speaker 1: you have to watch that?
- 8:39Speaker 4: Yeah, No, I love him so much. He gets plenty
- 8:43Speaker 4: of sex, he gets plenty of cuddles.
- 8:45Speaker 2: Enough's enough.
- 8:46Speaker 4: I mean you feel sorry for someone who gets a
- 8:49Speaker 4: lot of things.
- 8:50Speaker 1: That's a lot of attention.
- 8:51Speaker 5: Yeah, well, listen, I forgot this thing.
- 8:54Speaker 3: By the way I was about to say, I was
- 8:55Speaker 3: about to say, that's a great way to start the show.
- 8:57Speaker 1: Yeah, Bill gets Bill Lawrence gets plenty of sex. Everybody.
- 9:03Speaker 5: I'm not sure we made about a bunch of said
- 9:10Speaker 5: he's a story.
- 9:15Speaker 2: So.
- 9:25Speaker 1: Christa, we got to go back to the beginning. And
- 9:27Speaker 1: now that we've sung ourselves. Tell us Donald, no, Donald,
- 9:31Speaker 1: I'm gonna lead.
- 9:32Speaker 3: I was, okay, go ahead, man, I.
- 9:33Speaker 1: Know you're excited.
- 9:34Speaker 5: I turned.
- 9:35Speaker 1: I was told to turn the game down on my mic.
- 9:37Speaker 1: I was so excited by Dan. Dan had an intervention
- 9:40Speaker 1: and said, turn down your mic. You're too giddy. Christa,
- 9:44Speaker 1: tell us we're gonna go way back to the beginning.
- 9:45Speaker 1: Whenever we have us our co stars on, we like
- 9:48Speaker 1: to start the beginning. Even before you met Bill, you
- 9:52Speaker 1: were in New York. You grew up in Manhattan, and
- 9:55Speaker 1: tell us about being going from modeling to acting, like
- 9:58Speaker 1: that section of your life where it was working as
- 10:00Speaker 1: a model and then into Drew Carey Well.
- 10:03Speaker 2: I always I went to acting class at night. In
- 10:06Speaker 2: high school.
- 10:07Speaker 4: I went to American Academy of Dramatic Arts and then
- 10:10Speaker 4: the neighborhood playoffs, and I would ride my bike.
- 10:12Speaker 2: I had a ten speed bike in New York.
- 10:14Speaker 4: I would go to school and then I would play
- 10:17Speaker 4: in some varsity sport that I was in, like basketball
- 10:20Speaker 4: or volleyball, and then I would ride my bike down
- 10:22Speaker 4: to the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and take acting classes.
- 10:26Speaker 4: I always wanted to be an actor and modeling was
- 10:31Speaker 4: just a way to make money. And I originally came
- 10:36Speaker 4: out here because I got an audition for a League
- 10:42Speaker 4: of their Own when David Ansbrod was first directing it.
- 10:46Speaker 4: And when he was doing it, you had to pass,
- 10:49Speaker 4: and they knew I was. You had to be a
- 10:51Speaker 4: real baseball player, So you had to go down with
- 10:54Speaker 4: one of the head coach for one of the baseball
- 11:00Speaker 4: teams for like this three hour baseball audition before you
- 11:04Speaker 4: were even allowed to read. And so I did that.
- 11:10Speaker 4: I got the part. David Outspot ultimately got fired from
- 11:15Speaker 4: the movie and Penny Marshall took over and I ended
- 11:19Speaker 4: up dating him, but staying out here and starting with,
- 11:25Speaker 4: you know, doing acting, and what happens is I got
- 11:28Speaker 4: an episode of The Fresh.
- 11:30Speaker 2: Prince of bel Air.
- 11:31Speaker 1: That was your first job.
- 11:33Speaker 4: No, it wasn't my first job, but I it was
- 11:37Speaker 4: one of the first few ones.
- 11:39Speaker 2: And it was so fun. Will Smith would he did this.
- 11:44Speaker 4: First of all, there's loud music playing anytime they cut,
- 11:48Speaker 4: loud music playing on stage. He was so lovely and
- 11:52Speaker 4: he would do these speed throughs with everybody and just
- 11:57Speaker 4: it was such a fun thing, and I thought, why
- 11:59Speaker 4: am I doing this drama?
- 12:03Speaker 2: Painful memories of childhood.
- 12:06Speaker 4: I don't want to do it, and that was what
- 12:07Speaker 4: got me started to want to do comedy.
- 12:09Speaker 1: Well, and also, you're funny, and I think that one
- 12:13Speaker 1: thing that Hollywood really embraces. You know, there's there's there's
- 12:17Speaker 1: plenty of pretty people, but a pretty person who can
- 12:19Speaker 1: be hilarious like you can be. It was no doubt
- 12:22Speaker 1: that you were gonna have a big career.
- 12:23Speaker 3: Well, I was gonna say, I was gonna I was
- 12:25Speaker 3: gonna say later on in the conversation, but I think
- 12:28Speaker 3: I want to say it now. We uh, like, we
- 12:32Speaker 3: we watched this bat we watched this show back, and
- 12:34Speaker 3: it's been such a long time since we've seen the
- 12:36Speaker 3: show that we tend to forget a lot of things.
- 12:39Speaker 3: And one thing that I forgot was how funny you are. Christa, Like,
- 12:44Speaker 3: every one of your jokes lands every time, and the
- 12:48Speaker 3: sarcasm and the sass, it all shines through. And so
- 12:51Speaker 3: when I'm watching these episodes, I'm like, in my mind,
- 12:54Speaker 3: I'm like, of course they get back together. They mirror
- 12:57Speaker 3: each other, so well, you know what I mean. And
- 13:00Speaker 3: you know John C's characters put into the show to
- 13:04Speaker 3: be you know this sarcastic mentor for JD. It's only
- 13:09Speaker 3: right that he has a sarcastic wife, you know, or
- 13:14Speaker 3: ex wife or love interest on the show. And so
- 13:17Speaker 3: when when watching this, it's like it's like you guys
- 13:20Speaker 3: are playing tennis, you know what I mean, and he's
- 13:23Speaker 3: hitting it to you and you're spiking it back, and
- 13:25Speaker 3: he's like, oh shit, let me spike it back, you
- 13:28Speaker 3: know what I mean. It's so great to watch.
- 13:30Speaker 1: It's a lot like the banter of Bill and Christa.
- 13:32Speaker 1: I mean, they they do that sparring back and forth
- 13:35Speaker 1: and the sarcasm back and forth and can be quite biting.
- 13:40Speaker 1: I once said to them, did you guys meet it mean? Camp?
- 13:44Speaker 2: Donald? That's so sweet of you to say, thank you.
- 13:46Speaker 4: You know, when I watch my boys have been watching,
- 13:50Speaker 4: going through and watching Scrubs, all the episodes. Anytime I
- 13:53Speaker 4: go in the kitchen, all watch and I think, see
- 13:56Speaker 4: how good you guys are, and you see how like
- 13:59Speaker 4: every show shoh, you guys get more and more in
- 14:03Speaker 4: the groove better and and and Donald, your physical comedy
- 14:09Speaker 4: is so strong and you allow it.
- 14:12Speaker 2: You know.
- 14:12Speaker 4: I think it was maybe because it was in a
- 14:14Speaker 4: hospital and everyone was there together.
- 14:16Speaker 2: It was like this very safe place to.
- 14:19Speaker 4: Like kind of bring your a game, right, That's what
- 14:23Speaker 4: I felt on that show. You would step in and
- 14:26Speaker 4: also that you would want to be friends with everybody,
- 14:30Speaker 4: you know, from the crew to the cat to everyone
- 14:34Speaker 4: that was there. But you just step in and you're
- 14:35Speaker 4: in a safe place to do that.
- 14:38Speaker 1: You know that the show would not have worked at
- 14:41Speaker 1: all if there wasn't this environment of there's no wrong answer, right.
- 14:46Speaker 1: You know, actors can were so neurotic. You can get
- 14:48Speaker 1: in your head and go, oh, I'm not making anyone
- 14:49Speaker 1: laugh or I don't want to do that because it's
- 14:51Speaker 1: if it's they don't laugh, I feel stupid. Bill and
- 14:54Speaker 1: the crew and everyone and us. We created this environment
- 14:58Speaker 1: where like go nuts, like there there is no wrong answer,
- 15:01Speaker 1: like if you if you go too far, don't worry.
- 15:04Speaker 1: We'll choose a take that that's that isn't as broad,
- 15:07Speaker 1: but like it gave all of us the freedom to
- 15:09Speaker 1: just fucking go for.
- 15:10Speaker 3: It right and doing and doing this rewatch right now.
- 15:13Speaker 3: It's really it's really fun to watch. Is how when
- 15:17Speaker 3: we first started, how tight we all were, you know
- 15:19Speaker 3: what I mean, we were all so tight, and now
- 15:21Speaker 3: we're starting, we're what is this episode one what uh
- 15:26Speaker 3: seventeen eighteen eighteen one eighteen. We're all starting to really
- 15:31Speaker 3: loosen up now, you know what I mean, And everybody's
- 15:34Speaker 3: starting to spread out and you can feel that the
- 15:36Speaker 3: nervous energy is gone and we're starting to play on
- 15:39Speaker 3: camera and uh yeah, but well here's my point. My
- 15:42Speaker 3: point was when you came in, you were already there,
- 15:45Speaker 3: you were all ready to play, already ready to play.
- 15:48Speaker 3: And I think that has a lot to do with
- 15:49Speaker 3: you doing Drew Carrey at the time, and being on
- 15:51Speaker 3: television for what it was like seven years at this point,
- 15:54Speaker 3: eight years at this point.
- 15:55Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 15:56Speaker 4: Well, also because it's a live audience, so you're you're
- 15:58Speaker 4: used to but I wasn't.
- 15:59Speaker 2: I wasn't.
- 16:00Speaker 4: I was tight because I wasn't used to the medium
- 16:06Speaker 4: of single camera comedy, which is different, you know than
- 16:10Speaker 4: doing a sitcom. But I remember Bill said to me,
- 16:14Speaker 4: and it might have been on this episode, he said,
- 16:17Speaker 4: you know, when it's not your coverage, And I don't
- 16:20Speaker 4: know if you want to explain.
- 16:21Speaker 2: You know, when the camera's not on.
- 16:23Speaker 4: You, you're doing broad, funny, crazy things, and I want
- 16:30Speaker 4: you to do at least two of those takes when
- 16:34Speaker 4: it's when the camera's on you, right, And I was like, oh,
- 16:37Speaker 4: I am having a disconnect. I'm so much freer and
- 16:40Speaker 4: looser when the cameras.
- 16:43Speaker 1: Mean you're doing off camera, you're.
- 16:47Speaker 2: Doing Genia Ship off camera. You might want to you
- 16:49Speaker 2: might want to meld the two.
- 16:51Speaker 1: So Donald Donald just brought just talk about Drew for
- 16:53Speaker 1: a second, because it was a big chunk of your life.
- 16:55Speaker 1: You're one of the you're one of the lucky actors
- 16:59Speaker 1: in the in the world of Hollywood that can go
- 17:01Speaker 1: from one successful show to another. We talked about how
- 17:05Speaker 1: Neil Flynn did that after Scrubs, he then went and
- 17:07Speaker 1: starred on the Middle for forever.
- 17:09Speaker 3: Yeah, eleven years or some shit like that.
- 17:11Speaker 1: Yeah, So what was the obviously just a reminding audience
- 17:14Speaker 1: that don't know the difference. Sitcoms are filmed like a play.
- 17:17Speaker 1: They're done in front of a live audience. That's why
- 17:19Speaker 1: you hear the laughs, and you know, they set up
- 17:22Speaker 1: four or five cameras and they and they shoot it
- 17:24Speaker 1: like a play and they cut in between them. Whereas
- 17:26Speaker 1: when we shoot Scrubs, there's no audience. We're shooting it
- 17:28Speaker 1: like a movie with one angle at a time or
- 17:31Speaker 1: two angles at a time. So talk a little bit
- 17:34Speaker 1: about Drew Krista and what that experience was like and
- 17:37Speaker 1: again transitioning to scrubs from that.
- 17:40Speaker 4: You know, it was so unusual. I mean, you know
- 17:43Speaker 4: this that you're not working and then you're all of
- 17:48Speaker 4: a sudden you're.
- 17:48Speaker 2: On a show.
- 17:50Speaker 4: You know, it was just and doing twenty six episodes
- 17:53Speaker 4: and you're on this big show.
- 17:56Speaker 2: And I had so much fun, And it was.
- 17:59Speaker 4: Also a great learning experience because it is it was
- 18:02Speaker 4: so foreign to me that particular medium of doing it
- 18:07Speaker 4: like that, because you realize, you know, when you're doing
- 18:10Speaker 4: a sitcom, the audience and we've all done them, the
- 18:14Speaker 4: audience becomes on show night, another character in the scene.
- 18:19Speaker 2: And so it's really.
- 18:20Speaker 4: About listening and being able to change your jokes and
- 18:24Speaker 4: not being married to a joke that you might have
- 18:27Speaker 4: done funny in the table reader sometime during the week.
- 18:30Speaker 4: It's really about listening and being organic, because if you're not,
- 18:33Speaker 4: you're going to get stuck.
- 18:34Speaker 2: It's just everything's going to be flat.
- 18:37Speaker 1: They also give you such a high, though, don't they
- 18:39Speaker 1: Like you.
- 18:40Speaker 4: Could never go to sleep, I would come home, I
- 18:42Speaker 4: would take a bath, I would do you have to
- 18:44Speaker 4: do everything, talk about booty calls after shown.
- 18:50Speaker 3: So nice, what you're doing.
- 18:52Speaker 5: What you're doing?
- 18:52Speaker 3: Well, I just finished the show.
- 18:54Speaker 5: I know what that means.
- 19:00Speaker 2: Yeah, because you can't go to sleep.
- 19:03Speaker 3: Yeah, I remember I did. I did the excess for
- 19:08Speaker 3: three four years after Scrubs, and uh, I remember. Show
- 19:13Speaker 3: nights were the hardest nights to go to sleep. Every
- 19:16Speaker 3: other night you could pass out, no problem, but you're
- 19:18Speaker 3: just so high from doing the show, and you know,
- 19:22Speaker 3: and it's hard to come down when, especially when the
- 19:24Speaker 3: show felt like it went good and like you said,
- 19:26Speaker 3: the audience gives you all of this energy and you
- 19:29Speaker 3: could be tired going into the show, but then after
- 19:31Speaker 3: you're like, dude, where are we going?
- 19:33Speaker 5: What are we doing?
- 19:34Speaker 2: No?
- 19:35Speaker 4: I have a good I can I can mix Drew
- 19:38Speaker 4: Carrey and Scrubs in a story.
- 19:42Speaker 2: So Drew got into improv, yeah, which I think is
- 19:46Speaker 2: the work of the devil. And I.
- 19:50Speaker 4: Don't like doing improv and I don't like watching improv.
- 19:54Speaker 4: So Drew wanted to do these and Brian did improv
- 19:58Speaker 4: and you know, blah blah blah. So he want to
- 20:00Speaker 4: do these episodes live one a year on Drew.
- 20:03Speaker 2: That would be a live.
- 20:04Speaker 4: Episode already, which would be nerve wracking because it's live.
- 20:08Speaker 2: And then secondly have it be improv so while.
- 20:11Speaker 4: You were doing the show, they would press a button
- 20:16Speaker 4: and then you would have to change the line.
- 20:19Speaker 3: Oh god, okay, so I was.
- 20:24Speaker 1: Hearing about it.
- 20:24Speaker 4: Yeah, so I was like, fuck that noise, because I
- 20:27Speaker 4: don't I'm not a writer.
- 20:29Speaker 2: I don't want to do it.
- 20:30Speaker 4: So this became the most fun thing ever that we
- 20:33Speaker 4: would go. We would I would take my script into
- 20:36Speaker 4: the Scrubs writer's room because it started when when we
- 20:39Speaker 4: were at Scrubs and every line I had all the
- 20:43Speaker 4: Scrubs writers and it would they would we would stop
- 20:46Speaker 4: for the day and they would write.
- 20:49Speaker 2: They would write all the all jokes that.
- 20:53Speaker 4: Were really funny, Like they're no better writers ever than this,
- 20:58Speaker 4: that Scrubs writers, Right, so they're writing the funniest all jokes.
- 21:03Speaker 2: But Drew didn't know. And so then on show night.
- 21:06Speaker 4: I remember this one particular night, all the Scrubs writers
- 21:10Speaker 4: came and they were sitting with Bill and they're all
- 21:13Speaker 4: excited because they know the button's going to be passed,
- 21:15Speaker 4: and I'm going to say one of their jokes that
- 21:17Speaker 4: I've memorized.
- 21:19Speaker 2: So it's not anything improv about it. You have to
- 21:22Speaker 2: watch I'm.
- 21:23Speaker 4: Gonna have to send you that this one show because
- 21:25Speaker 4: you'll die laughing. So I am doing it and Drew's
- 21:29Speaker 4: getting so mad that he keeps pressing the button for
- 21:34Speaker 4: me to do.
- 21:35Speaker 3: But I have locked and loaded.
- 21:40Speaker 4: I got I got so many locked and loaded that
- 21:44Speaker 4: I had an applause break on my jokes and Drew
- 21:48Speaker 4: a bit.
- 21:49Speaker 3: He was so mad.
- 21:50Speaker 2: He's like, but that's not really improv.
- 21:52Speaker 4: I'm like, but I'm I don't do improv, So what
- 21:56Speaker 4: difference does it make? And I sold it to you
- 21:57Speaker 4: know how you can sell improv like your luck like
- 22:00Speaker 4: you're yeah.
- 22:04Speaker 2: You do the little shit? Oh look up?
- 22:08Speaker 1: Yeah, you gotta sell it to the audience.
- 22:12Speaker 3: What episode is this? Because maybe our listeners want to
- 22:15Speaker 3: go to Our listeners.
- 22:16Speaker 1: Are going to want to check.
- 22:18Speaker 2: I know I will. I have to find out.
- 22:20Speaker 1: I'm sure if you google uh Drew Carey improvisational episodes,
- 22:25Speaker 1: they'll find it.
- 22:26Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 22:26Speaker 1: And so did Drew know that? I mean he must
- 22:28Speaker 1: have known that Bill was because he Bill was a
- 22:30Speaker 1: famous TV writers.
- 22:32Speaker 2: Well yeah, well.
- 22:33Speaker 4: He knew when he saw all the and also, you
- 22:35Speaker 4: know when writers hear their own jokes they're.
- 22:37Speaker 2: Hysterical, right, they go crazy, right, So I.
- 22:40Speaker 4: Had already sold it by looking up like on his coming,
- 22:43Speaker 4: and then then it would be this huge laugh, which
- 22:45Speaker 4: I would have never gotten because I'm not that funny
- 22:47Speaker 4: on my feet live.
- 22:49Speaker 3: I'm here to tell you, well, okay, I've seen you
- 22:51Speaker 3: live before and you're wonderful.
- 22:53Speaker 2: Donald. I love you, thank you.
- 22:55Speaker 4: So yeah, they were all hysterical, like just more hysterical
- 23:00Speaker 4: than normal people.
- 23:01Speaker 2: So Drew just knew. He just knew it was.
- 23:05Speaker 4: All the Scrubs writers, and I had memorized one hundred jokes.
- 23:09Speaker 1: Drew looks up and he's like, why is the entire
- 23:11Speaker 1: Scrubs writers right here at an improv at an improv
- 23:15Speaker 1: d being of Drew carry I've never really I've done
- 23:22Speaker 1: a guest on on Donald's Diit com and I've we
- 23:24Speaker 1: did our Scrubs one, but I've never really had a
- 23:27Speaker 1: role on one. And what I always love is going
- 23:30Speaker 1: and standing next to people like Bill because when a
- 23:33Speaker 1: joke for those of you who don't know, when a
- 23:34Speaker 1: joke doesn't work or it doesn't get a big laugh,
- 23:37Speaker 1: then all the writers sort of huddle up on a
- 23:40Speaker 1: non on a traditional one, not on an improblem, like
- 23:42Speaker 1: like Chris is talking about, and then they kind of
- 23:44Speaker 1: come up with a better or an all joke. And
- 23:46Speaker 1: I've had times where it's so much fun. Rob whispering
- 23:48Speaker 1: Bill's ear like a joke pitch, and then some actor
- 23:52Speaker 1: I've never met before says the line gets a huge laugh,
- 23:56Speaker 1: and I'm just like celebrated, like, well, that was more
- 23:58Speaker 1: fun than anything I've ever done.
- 24:00Speaker 4: But didn't you used to do that a lot? Sack
- 24:02Speaker 4: come into un Datable and be Bill. It was always
- 24:05Speaker 4: as you said, I'm wanting Zach to come down.
- 24:07Speaker 1: I did it on John Datable, I did it on
- 24:09Speaker 1: some of his other ones, and I would come on
- 24:11Speaker 1: show night just for that fun, because I love pitching
- 24:14Speaker 1: jokes and when yours gets on and it gets a laugh,
- 24:16Speaker 1: and especially when I've never even met the person saying
- 24:18Speaker 1: it and they get it and they kill I'm like,
- 24:20Speaker 1: that sounds good. It's like broadcast news. Remember when he
- 24:23Speaker 1: when Albert Brooks calls Holly Hunter and he says, I
- 24:26Speaker 1: say it here, it comes out there, And it was
- 24:29Speaker 1: just like whispering into Bill's ear. And then all of
- 24:31Speaker 1: a sudden, some random not random, but an actor on
- 24:33Speaker 1: the show I'd never met, says it. It was a
- 24:35Speaker 1: good feeling.
- 24:36Speaker 3: Yeah, well, when you came on to Ex's I remember
- 24:38Speaker 3: that happened too, Like they had a whole different idea
- 24:41Speaker 3: for what they wanted you to do, and you were like, no,
- 24:42Speaker 3: you know, guys, don't you think it would be funny
- 24:44Speaker 3: if I came in and I just wanted to fuck Bache?
- 24:48Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 24:49Speaker 5: Yeah, funny episode, man.
- 24:51Speaker 1: I try and Alwa's balanced. I don't want to be
- 24:53Speaker 1: the guy who's like trying to write too many of
- 24:55Speaker 1: my jokes. But if there's if they give me a
- 24:57Speaker 1: little bit of rope, I'm like, all right, well, I'm
- 24:59Speaker 1: gonna change the character. Now my character wants that sex
- 25:02Speaker 1: with that guy.
- 25:05Speaker 3: That was I remember. I remember being like, holy cow, dude,
- 25:09Speaker 3: we're actually gonna make an entire episode about how Zach
- 25:12Speaker 3: Braff's character wants to bang David Allen Bash. And it
- 25:15Speaker 3: all came from you going up to the creator of
- 25:18Speaker 3: that show saying, dude, yeah, that's funny, But wouldn't it
- 25:21Speaker 3: be funnier if I tried to fuck this dude.
- 25:24Speaker 1: Yeah, it'd be way funnier if I was trying to
- 25:26Speaker 1: bang one of the leads of the show. It was great.
- 25:28Speaker 1: It's a good episode.
- 25:29Speaker 5: Great guys, to.
- 25:30Speaker 1: Check that out. Check out me guest starring on the
- 25:32Speaker 1: Xes with the legendary Donald Faison. So wait, Chris to
- 25:37Speaker 1: talk a little bit. We're gonna get into the show,
- 25:39Speaker 1: but we just have I feel like we could do
- 25:40Speaker 1: an hour and a half.
- 25:41Speaker 3: We could do an hour just on asking questions. Right,
- 25:43Speaker 3: thank you.
- 25:44Speaker 1: I want to know about you meeting Bill Lawrence.
- 25:47Speaker 3: Well, I wanted to know that too.
- 25:48Speaker 1: How but I want to know how. I mean, I've
- 25:51Speaker 1: heard versions of.
- 25:52Speaker 3: This, but I want to heat I've never heard this before.
- 25:54Speaker 1: Listen. The guy was a swinging bachelor in Manhattan. He
- 25:57Speaker 1: had a hit show, Spin City. They didn't shoot a
- 26:00Speaker 1: lot of shows in New York at the time, and
- 26:02Speaker 1: so Bill was a big deal and he was feeling himself.
- 26:05Speaker 1: I think he had leech blonde hair for a while.
- 26:08Speaker 1: And I want to know how is his game? How
- 26:09Speaker 1: did he hit on you? How did he land a beautiful,
- 26:12Speaker 1: talented woman like you?
- 26:13Speaker 2: Well? Do you want to hear?
- 26:14Speaker 4: The weirdest thing is that you know Bill was married before? Yeah,
- 26:18Speaker 4: and his ex wife had one line on Drew Carey
- 26:24Speaker 4: as a bartender. When we first started the show, and
- 26:26Speaker 4: I remember that she had the most beautiful engagement ring on.
- 26:31Speaker 4: And then one day, this very handsome man came to
- 26:36Speaker 4: visit her and I was like, I couldn't understand it
- 26:39Speaker 4: that she had this handsome husband, and I was just like,
- 26:43Speaker 4: full career, you know, I was so far away from
- 26:46Speaker 4: I was only booty calls. I was just like on
- 26:49Speaker 4: the career thing anyway. And that was Bill and that
- 26:54Speaker 4: was his ex wife. But I didn't know it then.
- 26:56Speaker 4: So I went to New York. You know they do
- 26:59Speaker 4: the upfront to New York where they announced all the shows.
- 27:02Speaker 1: Yeah, we've told that's what We've told, the famous story
- 27:04Speaker 1: of Donald nugging Jeff Zucker to the people, right.
- 27:07Speaker 4: So I went to go to the upfronts and I was
- 27:10Speaker 4: dating someone at the time who had some beef with ABC,
- 27:15Speaker 4: an actor, but he flew with me to the upfronts
- 27:19Speaker 4: and then he didn't want to oh, and then I
- 27:22Speaker 4: happened to go on Howard Stern with Drew Carrey and
- 27:26Speaker 4: they made fun of this actor on Howard Stern, And
- 27:33Speaker 4: at that time with Howard Stern, they had the it
- 27:35Speaker 4: was on E so you were also on camera. And
- 27:39Speaker 4: what they did is put up a picture of this
- 27:42Speaker 4: actor that I was dotingugh.
- 27:44Speaker 1: I mean, I feel bad for the guy. That's horrible, But.
- 27:47Speaker 4: Also I was now I'm on Howard, Who's Howard supersedes everybody.
- 27:51Speaker 4: So I was laughing, right, and they broke the picture
- 27:55Speaker 4: and then they cut to me and Drew is laughing
- 27:57Speaker 4: so hard that he's pounding. He has what he laughs
- 27:59Speaker 4: really hard to gets the high pitch laugh, which is
- 28:01Speaker 4: so contagious.
- 28:02Speaker 2: He's pounding the desk and I'm laughing.
- 28:05Speaker 4: I came home and this particular actor was nowhere to
- 28:08Speaker 4: be found.
- 28:10Speaker 3: He was on the plane back to La home.
- 28:12Speaker 1: But I mean, in his defense, imagine your your girlfriends
- 28:16Speaker 1: on Howard Stern and they're all making fun of you.
- 28:20Speaker 4: Well, he had made a bad choice, but in career,
- 28:23Speaker 4: but anyway, so he declined that night to come with
- 28:28Speaker 4: me to the ABC party.
- 28:31Speaker 1: I'm not and that's not going, and that's not going.
- 28:34Speaker 1: And that decision changed the course of his life and
- 28:38Speaker 1: your life forever.
- 28:39Speaker 5: Yep.
- 28:40Speaker 2: So, and I remember it was pouring rain.
- 28:42Speaker 4: I was like, and they started late and Jamie Tarsis
- 28:46Speaker 4: was throwing it. My friend Jamie Tarsis, because she was
- 28:48Speaker 4: the present of ABC at the time, and I had
- 28:52Speaker 4: to go down to this party at the Merciall Hotel
- 28:55Speaker 4: by myself.
- 28:56Speaker 1: And horrible mistake on this boy friends hard don't leave
- 29:01Speaker 1: your beautiful girlfriend to go to a fancy party alone
- 29:06Speaker 1: because you're pouting. I mean, that's a recipe for.
- 29:08Speaker 2: Disaster, recipe for disasters.
- 29:10Speaker 1: This is like a Catherine Heigel movie plot. I mean,
- 29:12Speaker 1: I've seen this movie.
- 29:13Speaker 4: Yeah, So I walk in. It gets better. And this
- 29:17Speaker 4: actor's friend was friends with Alan Ruck. I knew Alan
- 29:21Speaker 4: Ruck because of this actor boyfriend that I had. And
- 29:27Speaker 4: Alan Ruck stood up and said, Krista, Hi, come meet
- 29:32Speaker 4: everybody on my show.
- 29:34Speaker 1: So Alan Ruck was one of the stars of Spin City. Yes,
- 29:37Speaker 1: he was also Cameron from Faris Beeler's Day.
- 29:39Speaker 4: Off Right, a very funny actor, lovely man. So I
- 29:44Speaker 4: walked over to the their section Spin City section and
- 29:48Speaker 4: Bill Lawrence stood up in a really cute suit right
- 29:53Speaker 4: away and said, Hi, nice to meet you. And my
- 29:55Speaker 4: first thing is, I was like, what am I doing
- 29:57Speaker 4: with this stupid actor when there's people like this in
- 30:01Speaker 4: the world.
- 30:01Speaker 2: There's guys like this that are so cute.
- 30:04Speaker 1: And did he ask for a stop hug? Did he
- 30:09Speaker 1: ask for a stop hug?
- 30:10Speaker 5: No?
- 30:11Speaker 4: But so I ended up, I think, just hanging with
- 30:14Speaker 4: them the whole time.
- 30:15Speaker 2: And then Bill said, I just bought this loft. Do
- 30:17Speaker 2: you want to go see it? Now I had grown
- 30:18Speaker 2: up in New York.
- 30:19Speaker 1: And I was like, oh the way, there's no more
- 30:20Speaker 1: power move in the world than do you want to
- 30:22Speaker 1: come see this loft?
- 30:23Speaker 2: I just bought a new loft. Do you want to
- 30:25Speaker 2: see it?
- 30:25Speaker 4: And I of course was like a loft, sure, Like
- 30:29Speaker 4: I had never seen one.
- 30:31Speaker 1: What's that?
- 30:32Speaker 2: What's that? A loft? But this is where it went
- 30:35Speaker 2: bad a little.
- 30:36Speaker 4: So we to his go to his apartment, and there
- 30:39Speaker 4: was a girl that came over. It was like six
- 30:42Speaker 4: of us, and I said to her, I didn't unbeknownst
- 30:46Speaker 4: to me, she had a crush on him.
- 30:48Speaker 2: And I said to her, who's this Bill Lawrence.
- 30:52Speaker 4: He's pretty cute and she said, oh, he's a player.
- 30:57Speaker 3: Oh yeah.
- 30:58Speaker 4: And so and then when we went up because we
- 31:01Speaker 4: went up to his apartment and because it was the upfronts,
- 31:03Speaker 4: he had had a party in his loft the night before,
- 31:05Speaker 4: so there was like cigarettes and it was just he
- 31:08Speaker 4: had a whole party, was boo And I thought, oh, oh,
- 31:12Speaker 4: he's just a player. He's trying to get on, you know,
- 31:15Speaker 4: forget it. And when I was leaving, Bill said, can
- 31:18Speaker 4: I get your number?
- 31:18Speaker 2: Can I call you? And I was like, if you
- 31:19Speaker 2: can find me, you can call me, which he did.
- 31:22Speaker 4: And that was in May, and then we didn't start
- 31:26Speaker 4: dating until because he was in New York and I
- 31:30Speaker 4: was in la We spoke on the phone. And then Thanksgiving,
- 31:33Speaker 4: I was back in New York and I was walking
- 31:35Speaker 4: by his apartment. I thought, I wonder how that cute
- 31:37Speaker 4: Bill Lawrence is And I called him and he didn't
- 31:41Speaker 4: call me back, but he called me back two days later,
- 31:43Speaker 4: and he was in Jamaica, but I didn't know this,
- 31:47Speaker 4: and he called me back and said you better.
- 31:50Speaker 2: Be single, and I said.
- 31:51Speaker 4: I am and he said, oh yeah, I'm going to
- 31:53Speaker 4: fly out on Saturday and take you to dinner. Wow.
- 31:58Speaker 1: No, Laurence, Bill Donald and I never got to wit.
- 32:03Speaker 1: And we love this guy. He's so important to us,
- 32:06Speaker 1: and we never got to see the legendary single version
- 32:09Speaker 1: of him. We've heard tales, but what a what a
- 32:12Speaker 1: good technique. I'm gonna fly out to take you on
- 32:15Speaker 1: a date Donald right.
- 32:16Speaker 3: That listen, Man, if I had the books, that's exactly
- 32:21Speaker 3: what I would do too.
- 32:23Speaker 1: On that note, we're gonna go to a quick commercial break.
- 32:25Speaker 1: We'll be right back with Christa Miller. Should we get
- 32:36Speaker 1: into the episode, you.
- 32:37Speaker 3: Guys, I think we should at some point. I you know,
- 32:41Speaker 3: I would, I wouldn't.
- 32:42Speaker 5: I mean, I could.
- 32:42Speaker 1: Literally do a full show just on Krista Miller.
- 32:45Speaker 2: But I love you guys are making my year.
- 32:49Speaker 3: Well, I think you're a great guest, and so you
- 32:51Speaker 3: have a lot of things that we wanted to talk about. One, yeah,
- 32:55Speaker 3: because you have are the creator of the show that
- 32:59Speaker 3: we both became very famous on, You Have His Heart.
- 33:03Speaker 3: We love to hear insight about him and how you
- 33:06Speaker 3: guys met and everything like that, and so forgive us.
- 33:10Speaker 1: Especially things that are mildly embarrassing, like stop, yeah, like wait,
- 33:13Speaker 1: but is.
- 33:14Speaker 4: The funniest should we have you told this story yet?
- 33:16Speaker 4: On this that how Bill used to say to you guys.
- 33:20Speaker 1: Christ didn't like, oh no, I haven't told that story.
- 33:24Speaker 3: Oh god, yeah, not joke by Krista, And she was like, it's.
- 33:29Speaker 1: Not the director first, you know, the director first does
- 33:31Speaker 1: a cut of the episode, and then I would show
- 33:34Speaker 1: it to Bill and I and I'd choose a let's
- 33:36Speaker 1: say a particular joke that maybe was improv or something
- 33:39Speaker 1: and that I thought was hilarious, and and I'd put
- 33:41Speaker 1: in my cut and Bill be like And then I'd
- 33:44Speaker 1: see Bill's cut, and as the director, I'd be like, oh,
- 33:46Speaker 1: why did you take out that moment? That was so funny?
- 33:48Speaker 1: Why did you do that? And he go, what are
- 33:50Speaker 1: you talking about? No one understands that joke, And I'd
- 33:53Speaker 1: be like, really, I mean we were all cracking up
- 33:55Speaker 1: in the edit room, and he'd go, yeah, I showed
- 33:57Speaker 1: it to Christa and she was like, what the hell.
- 34:03Speaker 2: Don't understand it.
- 34:04Speaker 1: Then I'd see Christa and I'd be like, Christy, you
- 34:07Speaker 1: didn't think that joke is funny? And she'd be like, Zach,
- 34:09Speaker 1: do you really think that I'm watching rough cuts?
- 34:16Speaker 2: In what world?
- 34:19Speaker 1: He was such a fucking liar.
- 34:22Speaker 4: Yeah, but he would do that also with the music too,
- 34:24Speaker 4: Like I remember him telling you, came up to you
- 34:26Speaker 4: one time and said this.
- 34:28Speaker 2: Song would work perfectly here.
- 34:30Speaker 4: Why can't you let me do this one song here perfectly?
- 34:33Speaker 4: I was like, I don't even know what you're talking about.
- 34:37Speaker 4: I don't even know you.
- 34:38Speaker 1: You have no idea? How often I'm sure not just
- 34:40Speaker 1: with me but with all the entire staff, how often
- 34:42Speaker 1: you were used as bad cop? Yeah, you know, I
- 34:48Speaker 1: just showed it to Christa and she just didn't like it,
- 34:50Speaker 1: and she didn't get it, or she didn't like it.
- 34:52Speaker 1: She didn't get it, she hated it.
- 34:54Speaker 3: And then everybody would drop it right then and there,
- 34:56Speaker 3: and it'd be like, oh, okay, all.
- 34:58Speaker 1: Right, yeah, well how can you you know Chris didn't
- 35:01Speaker 1: like it? He did that. He did that all the time.
- 35:06Speaker 1: Another funny Bill thing the technique that I've since stolen
- 35:09Speaker 1: a couple of one for you aspiring directors out there.
- 35:13Speaker 1: It's considered bad form for a director to tell an
- 35:17Speaker 1: actor how to say a line. It's called giving them
- 35:20Speaker 1: a line reading. And and you're supposed to use your
- 35:24Speaker 1: skills and your communication and your articulation to get to
- 35:27Speaker 1: steer them to say the line the way you want
- 35:29Speaker 1: to say it. But sometimes they're just not doing it
- 35:32Speaker 1: the way you envisioned or the writer envisioned. And this
- 35:34Speaker 1: can be frustrating. And Bill had a way around it
- 35:37Speaker 1: where he would go, he'd go, you know, he would say,
- 35:41Speaker 1: let's say, to a guest star all makeup named Tim,
- 35:44Speaker 1: he'd go, Tim, you know, at the table read You
- 35:47Speaker 1: did it so funny. You have me laughing so hard.
- 35:50Speaker 1: You did it just like this. You were like, we
- 35:51Speaker 1: got to get out of here and whatever. And the guy,
- 35:54Speaker 1: the actor would be like, I did that? Is that
- 35:57Speaker 1: is funny? I did it like that. He'd be like, yeah,
- 35:59Speaker 1: that's what you did at the table reading was hilarious,
- 36:01Speaker 1: and the actor's ego is all glowing and like, Okay,
- 36:04Speaker 1: I'll do it just like that, And the actor had
- 36:06Speaker 1: never done it like that. Bill totally made that ship
- 36:10Speaker 1: up right, Christa.
- 36:12Speaker 2: Oh, he does it all the time.
- 36:13Speaker 4: But I also love that that we all got because
- 36:16Speaker 4: when we and whenever one started on Scrubs, you'd be like,
- 36:20Speaker 4: I don't you can't get be line readings.
- 36:22Speaker 2: That's not what you're supposed to do.
- 36:24Speaker 4: And then by season three everyone's like, Bill, just tell
- 36:29Speaker 4: me how you want.
- 36:29Speaker 3: To How do you want me to say it? Dude,
- 36:33Speaker 3: I'll tell you.
- 36:34Speaker 1: Yeah. I love it. As the director, I love it
- 36:36Speaker 1: when people do that because you're like, you're just trying
- 36:37Speaker 1: to be so tactful and if someone's just like, just
- 36:39Speaker 1: tell me, you want to say, like, oh my god,
- 36:42Speaker 1: another trick tick Bill will do in the same Vein
- 36:44Speaker 1: would go He got it in his head that if
- 36:46Speaker 1: you didn't say words, it wasn't technically giving a line reading.
- 36:50Speaker 1: So if it was like if the line was like
- 36:51Speaker 1: we gotta get out of here, and he wanted it
- 36:53Speaker 1: like that, he'd be like, you know, could you do it?
- 36:55Speaker 1: Like yeah, We're like, well, you're just giving a line
- 36:59Speaker 1: reading with noise?
- 37:00Speaker 5: Is now? You know?
- 37:03Speaker 2: Like that? I remember also Bill gets so mad.
- 37:07Speaker 4: Well, he got the most man over the first time
- 37:10Speaker 4: that Zach directed.
- 37:11Speaker 2: It was the first time Zach directed.
- 37:13Speaker 4: And I came home like the third day and I said, Bill,
- 37:15Speaker 4: Oh my god.
- 37:16Speaker 2: With Zach directed, it's like being on a movie set.
- 37:20Speaker 4: Yeah, he's so good and his training as a as
- 37:24Speaker 4: a you know, as an actor and direct his direction
- 37:29Speaker 4: is so incredible.
- 37:30Speaker 2: It's so amazing.
- 37:31Speaker 4: And he's like, really, is is it like being on
- 37:34Speaker 4: a movie set when Jack is there?
- 37:36Speaker 1: You have to understand that Bill and I my relationship
- 37:39Speaker 1: was so big brother, little brother. And whenever Christa I mean,
- 37:43Speaker 1: I mean the compliments were genuine, I think and thank you,
- 37:46Speaker 1: But whenever Christa would compliment me in front of Bill,
- 37:49Speaker 1: I would be like, oh god, this is it was
- 37:50Speaker 1: just like JD and Coxs. I'd be like, oh God,
- 37:52Speaker 1: this is not going to be good for me. You really,
- 37:55Speaker 1: you really need to stop complimenting me. It's in front
- 37:57Speaker 1: of him, please, because something was gonna happened to me.
- 38:02Speaker 5: You know.
- 38:02Speaker 4: It's funny though, I will say this, because Bill showed
- 38:05Speaker 4: me everyone's audition tapes for Scrubs, and with every single
- 38:11Speaker 4: one of you, I was like, oh, well that's the person.
- 38:14Speaker 4: That's the person that has to do it. And I
- 38:16Speaker 4: remember the whole Bill's the rest of the time was
- 38:20Speaker 4: finessing and that's what he's so good at to make
- 38:23Speaker 4: sure that he got to pick. And there was a
- 38:26Speaker 4: whole math equation of how to do it, of like
- 38:28Speaker 4: I'm going to bring in these other two people, you know,
- 38:32Speaker 4: because I really want Donald or Zach or with everyone
- 38:37Speaker 4: and it was but.
- 38:38Speaker 1: You, guys, well, if you don't know getting your choice,
- 38:41Speaker 1: even if you're the showrunner of the show through to
- 38:44Speaker 1: a network, there's a strategy to it. You can't just
- 38:47Speaker 1: go in and say I want Donald Faison and Zach
- 38:49Speaker 1: braf Thanks, guys, because and Bill is very good at that.
- 38:53Speaker 1: He's like, well, if I want Zach and Donald, I
- 38:55Speaker 1: have to say this, I have to act like this.
- 38:58Speaker 1: I can't be too excited about it. You know, it's
- 38:59Speaker 1: a whole Yeah, there's a whole strategy to it. I've
- 39:02Speaker 1: experienced it and as a director and not gotten the
- 39:05Speaker 1: person I thought was clearly the best. But then you
- 39:07Speaker 1: got to go shoot the pilot, and you're shooting the
- 39:10Speaker 1: pilot with someone you think is good and talented, but
- 39:12Speaker 1: not necessarily as good as the other person. And it's
- 39:16Speaker 1: you know, you only you don't always get who you want,
- 39:18Speaker 1: you know. And and Bill was a really skill that
- 39:20Speaker 1: at knowing the strategy, like, oh, if I I'm gonna
- 39:23Speaker 1: get you know, he gave us a couple extra jokes,
- 39:25Speaker 1: and he would, you know, when we came.
- 39:27Speaker 5: In the room.
- 39:28Speaker 1: You know, it's so intimidating. He would make all these
- 39:30Speaker 1: jokes to make everyone already start laughing. So by the
- 39:32Speaker 1: time he's like a warm up comic. By the time
- 39:34Speaker 1: time for your audition, they're already giggling. You know.
- 39:37Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 39:37Speaker 4: But it's also interesting because sometimes in a pilot, I
- 39:40Speaker 4: remember with scrubs, Sometimes in a pilot, you go on
- 39:43Speaker 4: this part, I'll give in, I'll let them choose, or
- 39:47Speaker 4: you give in on that so you can have the
- 39:49Speaker 4: other people that you like and on Scrubs, Bill wasn't
- 39:52Speaker 4: willing to budge on anyone, you know, he really knew
- 39:55Speaker 4: who he wanted, and so he had to do that
- 39:58Speaker 4: with all of you guys.
- 39:59Speaker 2: But it is It is also a good lesson in.
- 40:02Speaker 4: Casting or if you're up for a role, you guys
- 40:05Speaker 4: right at the beginning, because I saw the producer sessions,
- 40:09Speaker 4: you know, so I wasn't even watching to the network tests,
- 40:12Speaker 4: which where you guys were really on a role by then,
- 40:15Speaker 4: it was so clear that all of you should have
- 40:19Speaker 4: those parts, you know, and it's.
- 40:22Speaker 3: Just wanted it. So I remember wanting it so bad.
- 40:25Speaker 3: I wanted it so bad. It was like, and I've
- 40:28Speaker 3: said the story before. I went up against my friends
- 40:30Speaker 3: that day and some friends of mine, and I remember
- 40:35Speaker 3: I remember being like, they don't want it as bad
- 40:36Speaker 3: as I do, Dude, nobody wants it as bad.
- 40:39Speaker 2: So what was your story? Have you talked about? Like?
- 40:41Speaker 1: Did you?
- 40:41Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 40:41Speaker 3: Absolutely, we talked about. We've told it before.
- 40:45Speaker 2: But so haven't you read the script? Can you tell
- 40:48Speaker 2: me quickly?
- 40:49Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 40:49Speaker 3: I hadn't read the script. I just auditioned for. It's me.
- 40:54Speaker 3: I just had auditioned for. I remember auditioning for Bill
- 40:58Speaker 3: and Danny Rose. That's what I really for some reason,
- 41:01Speaker 3: Danny Rose was in the room. Yeah, and I remember
- 41:07Speaker 3: Bill laughing at everything, and so my confidence was through
- 41:10Speaker 3: the roof. And he was like, all right, let's meet again.
- 41:13Speaker 5: You know.
- 41:13Speaker 3: My agents were like, you got a call back for it,
- 41:15Speaker 3: and I went in the callback and it was Bill
- 41:18Speaker 3: once again, and he was like, so, I'm gonna bring
- 41:21Speaker 3: you in front of the.
- 41:23Speaker 5: Network and everything.
- 41:24Speaker 3: You're going to test for this, but I just wanted
- 41:26Speaker 3: to rehearse this with you, so you had so you
- 41:30Speaker 3: were ready to go when we go into the audition.
- 41:33Speaker 3: And I did, and we rehearsed it and I went
- 41:36Speaker 3: in on the audition and I blew the audition and
- 41:39Speaker 3: never in my life has anybody ever come up to me,
- 41:43Speaker 3: like within the half hour that were all there testing
- 41:46Speaker 3: after everybody went in, I never had anyone come up
- 41:49Speaker 3: to me. After he called me out in front of everybody,
- 41:52Speaker 3: like Donald, come on, come here, let me talk to you.
- 41:54Speaker 3: And I remember all of them making faces like, oh shit,
- 41:58Speaker 3: I guess he got the part. But I was thinking, thinking,
- 42:00Speaker 3: oh shit, I'm the first one going home.
- 42:03Speaker 5: And he takes me.
- 42:03Speaker 3: Into the hallway and he says, uh, you blew the audition.
- 42:07Speaker 5: You know you fucked up.
- 42:08Speaker 1: The audition, right, you do know you fucked up right?
- 42:12Speaker 3: Right? It was it was sincerely, it was clearly. It
- 42:14Speaker 3: was just like Bill Duke in Minister Society when he's
- 42:18Speaker 3: talking to a dude at the police station. See, now
- 42:20Speaker 3: you know you're gone fucked up now, right, And I said,
- 42:23Speaker 3: I said I did, And he said, yeah, you know,
- 42:25Speaker 3: you were very big and very you know, I needed
- 42:28Speaker 3: to come in there and do it like you've been
- 42:31Speaker 3: doing it before. All of the stuff that you talked about, Zach,
- 42:34Speaker 3: you know you did it at the table read you
- 42:35Speaker 3: know you did it at the rehearsal this way. Yeah,
- 42:37Speaker 3: you know what I mean, everything that you guys just
- 42:39Speaker 3: talked about.
- 42:40Speaker 1: But you actually had in this instance, he had made
- 42:44Speaker 1: you progress so far because you were doing what he loved.
- 42:47Speaker 1: And when Bill told this story, he said, you know,
- 42:50Speaker 1: he gave you some bit of direction and you were
- 42:52Speaker 1: nervous and it made you go just to volume eleven
- 42:54Speaker 1: and he was like, bro, bro, bring it down, bring
- 42:56Speaker 1: it down there.
- 42:57Speaker 3: Well, yeah, you know when somebody says, make sure you're
- 42:59Speaker 3: talking to the back of the room when you're doing
- 43:01Speaker 3: your stuff, don't tell me that. Don't tell me that.
- 43:06Speaker 1: Mann Dohnny had a similar tale.
- 43:09Speaker 2: Wait wait so with Donald, So then you went in
- 43:11Speaker 2: and did you kill it?
- 43:14Speaker 3: I don't know if I killed it, but I definitely
- 43:16Speaker 3: got the part. I'll tell you that. Like I know
- 43:18Speaker 3: that Bill, whatever they were thinking about me, Bill convinced
- 43:22Speaker 3: them that I was the right person for the part,
- 43:24Speaker 3: you know what I mean. And I know that because
- 43:26Speaker 3: after the audition, you know, the call came in and
- 43:29Speaker 3: I got it. But I remember leaving and not necessarily
- 43:32Speaker 3: feeling like I got the part, even though they sent
- 43:34Speaker 3: everybody home and Sarah and I and this other dude
- 43:37Speaker 3: were there, uh you know we you know, Sarah said
- 43:42Speaker 3: something like, well, I guess we all got the I
- 43:43Speaker 3: guess we got the part. In my heart, I was like,
- 43:45Speaker 3: I didn't get the part, dude, I kind of fucked up.
- 43:47Speaker 5: And he told me I fucked up, you know what
- 43:49Speaker 5: I mean.
- 43:50Speaker 3: And then when I got when my agent called and
- 43:52Speaker 3: told me that I got the part, that's when I
- 43:54Speaker 3: was like, oh shit, he somehow made this happen. Like
- 43:58Speaker 3: if he wants it to happen for you, he's going
- 44:00Speaker 3: to make it happen. And he's done it. Several times before.
- 44:02Speaker 3: You know, there's times where you know, I've I've done
- 44:06Speaker 3: pilots with Bill, like I was. I did the pilot
- 44:08Speaker 3: for Undtable, you know what I mean. He was like, Donald,
- 44:10Speaker 3: come in, there's a role. I want you to do it.
- 44:14Speaker 3: The network doesn't NBC doesn't know that you're coming in.
- 44:17Speaker 3: You come in and you just read with Crystalia and
- 44:20Speaker 3: I was like, all right, Bet, and I did it.
- 44:22Speaker 3: They were like, we can't have Donald Faison, who was
- 44:25Speaker 3: just on your last show in your next show. Dude,
- 44:27Speaker 3: that's impossible.
- 44:29Speaker 5: We can't do that.
- 44:29Speaker 3: But you know, it was great to see him. And
- 44:32Speaker 3: then you know, he did another pilot call spaced Out,
- 44:36Speaker 3: and at the time I wasn't working, and he was like, Donald,
- 44:39Speaker 3: I got a role for you, then why don't you
- 44:41Speaker 3: come in, you know, play this role on spaced Out.
- 44:43Speaker 3: So like when he and I didn't have to test.
- 44:46Speaker 3: I didn't have to do anything for that one. And
- 44:48Speaker 3: this was this was one of the stars of the show.
- 44:50Speaker 3: And so when Bill wants it to happen, if he
- 44:53Speaker 3: if he wants you to be in something, he's going
- 44:55Speaker 3: to do everything that he can to get you into that.
- 44:58Speaker 1: Yeah, and to get you into series. I think it's
- 45:00Speaker 1: safe to say that he's a big fan of Donald Faison.
- 45:03Speaker 5: I agree.
- 45:03Speaker 3: I agree.
- 45:04Speaker 2: He loves all you guys.
- 45:04Speaker 4: I mean, I think all you guys are going to
- 45:06Speaker 4: be having to work with Bill for the rest of
- 45:09Speaker 4: your lives.
- 45:10Speaker 1: Well, I love it.
- 45:10Speaker 5: You know.
- 45:10Speaker 1: I went and directed his new show that he's doing
- 45:13Speaker 1: with Jason Sedakis when I was in London, and I
- 45:17Speaker 1: had an amazing time with working with him. I missed it.
- 45:20Speaker 1: We fell back into this groove of just sitting next
- 45:24Speaker 1: to the monitors and pitching jokes and coming up with
- 45:26Speaker 1: cool stuff. And I really, I really love collaborating with
- 45:30Speaker 1: him so much.
- 45:31Speaker 3: All right, let's get to that episode.
- 45:32Speaker 5: I know.
- 45:32Speaker 1: But now you took us down in nostalgia lane and
- 45:34Speaker 1: I'm feeling all like like like my heart is.
- 45:37Speaker 3: We've been talking for forty nine minutes, and we know we.
- 45:39Speaker 1: Have a legendary Christa Miller. Bro chill up.
- 45:42Speaker 3: Like I said, we could talk for days about a.
- 45:44Speaker 1: Lot of people on my Instagram, right, Zach stops saying
- 45:48Speaker 1: that we that you're going too long. We love it,
- 45:51Speaker 1: and that's that's fine. I just there might be other
- 45:54Speaker 1: people who are like bro. My run is an hour
- 45:56Speaker 1: and a half. Keep it to an hour and a half.
- 45:59Speaker 3: Somebody, you know, somebody told me that I told you this,
- 46:01Speaker 3: that they didn't like me do an Oprah voice.
- 46:04Speaker 1: Yeah, but I told you that. That's like someone saying
- 46:07Speaker 1: they don't like you know, Caddie Shack, Like, shut the
- 46:10Speaker 1: fuck up, it's.
- 46:11Speaker 4: Jesus, thank you, we've got I was hoping Krista would
- 46:19Speaker 4: get her her Oprah voice.
- 46:21Speaker 1: All right, all right, so we start the episode with,
- 46:24Speaker 1: uh now A, JD and Elliott are friends again. That
- 46:27Speaker 1: was a pretty quick bout of a couple not talking
- 46:30Speaker 1: to each other, right, they're just back into like being
- 46:32Speaker 1: BFFs again.
- 46:34Speaker 3: Well, I think after what happened in the episode where
- 46:36Speaker 3: your teacher died, things changed. We're two episodes at and
- 46:41Speaker 3: after that, aren't we.
- 46:43Speaker 1: I don't know. I was just both. I had this
- 46:44Speaker 1: first reaction after introducing the Hay number one he number
- 46:47Speaker 1: two guy, that like, wow, we're just bantering like we're
- 46:51Speaker 1: all buddies. There's no there's no awkward, awkward blood between us.
- 46:54Speaker 5: Now.
- 46:55Speaker 3: I remember the number one Hay number two guy. Do
- 46:57Speaker 3: you remember his name? Because we hung out with that
- 46:59Speaker 3: guy after work one night, just just you, me and him.
- 47:03Speaker 1: I looked it up. We did.
- 47:05Speaker 5: Yeah, remember, I.
- 47:06Speaker 3: Don't remember, and I remember that was the first I
- 47:08Speaker 3: remember that was one of the first people that guest
- 47:10Speaker 3: starred on the show that we hung out with.
- 47:13Speaker 1: His name is I don't know. I hope I'm pronouncing
- 47:15Speaker 1: it right, Eric Sait s A I E. T. And
- 47:20Speaker 1: he did a fantastic job, by the way, with a
- 47:22Speaker 1: tricky part. I think you know it's it's can be
- 47:24Speaker 1: very cringey if someone is playing a handicapped person and
- 47:28Speaker 1: doing it in an awkward or disrespectful way. I remember
- 47:32Speaker 1: thinking at the time, this is tricky. You want to
- 47:35Speaker 1: do justice to someone who's mentally handicapped. But also this
- 47:38Speaker 1: guy has jokes and uh. And I remember thinking, even
- 47:42Speaker 1: at the time and even watching it now, that he
- 47:44Speaker 1: did a really, really good job.
- 47:45Speaker 5: Anythink, yeah, yeah, do.
- 47:47Speaker 2: You know what that story is from now?
- 47:49Speaker 1: I do remember that it was some some real life story.
- 47:52Speaker 5: Do you remember?
- 47:52Speaker 2: Yeah? Yeah, I do.
- 47:54Speaker 1: So don't sit too far away from your mic though, Darling.
- 47:56Speaker 2: Sorry sorry.
- 47:57Speaker 4: Bill was married before and his when he went to
- 48:05Speaker 4: meet his new wife's family, his new wife had an
- 48:10Speaker 4: older brother who had special needs, and his name was Bill,
- 48:15Speaker 4: and he was so bummed that Bill was coming in
- 48:21Speaker 4: and that there were two bills.
- 48:22Speaker 2: He didn't want to talk to Bill. It was whole thing.
- 48:24Speaker 4: And Bill said to him, how about you'll be Bill
- 48:27Speaker 4: number one because you're the main, and I'll just be
- 48:29Speaker 4: Bill number two. And Bill said, which was great. He
- 48:32Speaker 4: thought he was the hero. Was fabulous.
- 48:34Speaker 2: He goes.
- 48:34Speaker 4: But then from then on, every eight seconds, hey number one,
- 48:41Speaker 4: and Bill wild say hey, hey number two.
- 48:43Speaker 1: Yeah, eventually it's like.
- 48:45Speaker 2: Number hey number two. But it's so sweet.
- 48:49Speaker 4: I don't know how you get but at the end
- 48:50Speaker 4: when you make up with him, it's so sweet.
- 48:53Speaker 1: When you go in, it's very sweet. And and and
- 48:56Speaker 1: again I think he did a I would be I
- 48:59Speaker 1: would want to do that part because I were, I
- 49:01Speaker 1: would just be in my head that I wouldn't do
- 49:03Speaker 1: a justice. And I thought that Eric. Eric did a
- 49:05Speaker 1: great job at fifty eight seconds. A couple of things.
- 49:09Speaker 1: Not only is there another janitor which you've in the background, which.
- 49:12Speaker 3: You very saw that. I saw that.
- 49:14Speaker 1: Not only that he's in a different color uniform he's tan,
- 49:17Speaker 1: Yeah it's tan. And did you notice that he's sweeping
- 49:19Speaker 1: the air?
- 49:21Speaker 3: I did not notice that very often.
- 49:23Speaker 1: For those of you who don't know, and background performers are
- 49:25Speaker 1: doing their thing. They don't want them to make any noise,
- 49:28Speaker 1: which can be tricky if you if you're if you're
- 49:30Speaker 1: tasked with sweeping.
- 49:31Speaker 3: Did you see this or did you get this from
- 49:33Speaker 3: scrubs wiki?
- 49:34Speaker 1: No, I got I got some other good stuff from
- 49:36Speaker 1: scrubs wiki. But this, dude, if you stop, if everyone
- 49:38Speaker 1: wants to appreciate this. At fifty eight seconds, this gentleman
- 49:41Speaker 1: is sweeping the air. Maybe the air was dirty. But
- 49:49Speaker 1: I didn't know. I didn't know what was going on
- 49:51Speaker 1: with that guy. He I don't know who put him
- 49:53Speaker 1: in bait? Did you? We're if we know one thing,
- 49:56Speaker 1: we know that the janitorial staff. Where's Gray?
- 49:58Speaker 5: Gray?
- 50:00Speaker 3: I wonder how that happened. I wonder if they were like,
- 50:02Speaker 3: we don't have we we don't have Neil today and
- 50:05Speaker 3: we need somebody in the background sweeping, Like whose idea
- 50:08Speaker 3: was it? Because Neil's always dressed up as the janitor
- 50:12Speaker 3: in the show, and.
- 50:13Speaker 1: You never and you never ever saw I don't remember
- 50:17Speaker 1: ever seeing janitorial staff in the background that weren't Neil.
- 50:22Speaker 5: Do you No, I don't know.
- 50:24Speaker 1: Maybe I'm wrong.
- 50:25Speaker 3: Very interesting, that's the scrub that's the Scrubs Wiki question.
- 50:28Speaker 1: So Christa, we have a new thing now where you know,
- 50:30Speaker 1: we do the ask Bill thing and Bill will audio
- 50:34Speaker 1: tape him self answering the question. But now there's a
- 50:37Speaker 1: guy who runs a Scrubs Wiki fan page that just
- 50:40Speaker 1: knows every single little bit of Scrubs trivia, and he's
- 50:43Speaker 1: down with us asking him random trivia questions when we
- 50:46Speaker 1: don't know them.
- 50:47Speaker 5: I wonder if we'll ever get to stump him.
- 50:49Speaker 1: Oh, we're gonna stop him. That's gonna be one of
- 50:50Speaker 1: our tasks.
- 50:51Speaker 3: I wonder if we'll Yeah, we should.
- 50:53Speaker 1: We should think of what the sound effect is going
- 50:54Speaker 1: to be. There should be like a siren or a bell,
- 50:57Speaker 1: some sort of prize noise if we stump Scrubs Wiki guy,
- 51:00Speaker 1: how about then, Look Judy gives it one thirteen when
- 51:03Speaker 1: a guy calls her nurse Fahida. Yeah, Judy's look is
- 51:11Speaker 1: so fucking funny. She just does a slow turn like
- 51:14Speaker 1: I I will fucking kill you. But you know, yeah,
- 51:21Speaker 1: go ahead, go ahead, man, who un there's a whole
- 51:24Speaker 1: runner on this show. I'll kill you by the wait,
- 51:26Speaker 1: This delay is not that bad. We were on the
- 51:28Speaker 1: view for this podcast and the delay. I worry we
- 51:32Speaker 1: fucked up because the delay was like a solid second
- 51:35Speaker 1: and a half and it's very hard to be funny
- 51:37Speaker 1: and talk with people when there's a serious delay. We
- 51:40Speaker 1: have a slight one on the zoom thing. But but
- 51:42Speaker 1: we Donald and I did our best. But we were
- 51:44Speaker 1: on the view. Everyone's going, well, no, no, no, well
- 51:47Speaker 1: you go oh sorry, right, but Donald's mom finally watched.
- 51:51Speaker 1: She doesn't listen to the podcast, but she doesn't love it.
- 51:53Speaker 3: She was like, your energy on the view, you guys,
- 51:56Speaker 3: you guys interview very well.
- 51:57Speaker 1: By the way, we finally got Donald's mom that we
- 52:00Speaker 1: finally got surely to pay attention to us, and all
- 52:02Speaker 1: we have to do is go on the view.
- 52:04Speaker 3: Yeah, all right.
- 52:07Speaker 1: What I was gonna say is that there's this sub
- 52:10Speaker 1: there's this plot of this episode, which I'm sure is
- 52:13Speaker 1: a very real thing for medical professionals, when what happens
- 52:16Speaker 1: when your patient is a fucking dick and you still
- 52:19Speaker 1: have to give them the same level of attention and
- 52:23Speaker 1: affection and uh and and commitment and uh and JD
- 52:27Speaker 1: and and Carla are both trying to to take care
- 52:30Speaker 1: of this guy, but he's racist and he's a jerk
- 52:33Speaker 1: and uh and JD is. Really they're both challenged with
- 52:36Speaker 1: how do we do our best with a guy who's
- 52:38Speaker 1: saying shit like Nurse Fahida.
- 52:40Speaker 3: Yeah, that's a that's a tough one.
- 52:42Speaker 5: You know.
- 52:43Speaker 3: I hate racism, and I hate racists, and I hate bigots,
- 52:45Speaker 3: and I hate you know, I hate all of that.
- 52:47Speaker 3: Ship to watch something like this and to still have
- 52:51Speaker 3: to like it would suck to go to work and
- 52:54Speaker 3: have somebody say things to me that made me that
- 52:58Speaker 3: made me so angry that I wanted to explode. And
- 53:03Speaker 3: I imagine for people that work in the hospital, whose
- 53:07Speaker 3: jobs where all it is, your job is to take
- 53:10Speaker 3: care of the patient and save lives, and you get
- 53:13Speaker 3: that one person who is just you know, who's like
- 53:19Speaker 3: this guy is, how do you how do you commit
- 53:23Speaker 3: to doing your best at that moment in time for
- 53:25Speaker 3: that person.
- 53:26Speaker 1: I'm sure sometimes you have to bury y. I'm sure
- 53:29Speaker 1: sometimes you have to bite your fist. My mom used
- 53:32Speaker 1: to be a the the listen to this, the night nurse,
- 53:36Speaker 1: the head night nurse on the mental health ward of
- 53:42Speaker 1: a VA hospital in East Orange, New Jersey. Wow, and
- 53:46Speaker 1: she had the most insane stories. Now, granted, these these
- 53:50Speaker 1: these these men and women are are are very mentally ill,
- 53:54Speaker 1: some of them, and and and it was always her
- 53:56Speaker 1: job to not take it personally and to take it
- 53:59Speaker 1: to you breath and to give them the best care
- 54:02Speaker 1: that she could. And my mom was an incredible, incredible nurse.
- 54:05Speaker 1: But this story made me think of that that you
- 54:07Speaker 1: can imagine some of the treatments she had to endure,
- 54:12Speaker 1: and and and she had to always suck it up
- 54:15Speaker 1: and let it just wash off her back.
- 54:18Speaker 3: Right, But you're going to.
- 54:19Speaker 4: Get extra good attention if you're lovely as a patient.
- 54:24Speaker 3: I would imagine, Yes, absolutely.
- 54:28Speaker 5: You are.
- 54:29Speaker 4: I mean, my father was a surgeon, so I know,
- 54:30Speaker 4: but I mean, you just are going to get that
- 54:32Speaker 4: extra attention.
- 54:34Speaker 2: Why people aren't savvy enough to my father?
- 54:38Speaker 1: My father was when my father was dying, he was
- 54:40Speaker 1: in the hospital and he used every technique.
- 54:42Speaker 5: Guy.
- 54:43Speaker 1: I mean, he he was the most you guys know,
- 54:44Speaker 1: he's the loveliest, He was the loveliest, most charming guy.
- 54:46Speaker 1: But he was also the biggest Scrubs fan in the world.
- 54:48Speaker 1: So anyone who came in, whether it was the janitor
- 54:51Speaker 1: cleaning the garbage, can be like, hey, my son, Zach
- 54:53Speaker 1: Brath Scrubs the morning, I must have signed a scrubs
- 54:58Speaker 1: headshot for every single person in the New Jersey healthcare system.
- 55:02Speaker 4: Oh, Bill drops scrubs pretty much instantaneously, you know, on
- 55:07Speaker 4: doing anything. You just had to get a root canal thing.
- 55:11Speaker 4: He was talking about scrubs.
- 55:13Speaker 3: I was it all the time, Like, I use it all.
- 55:16Speaker 3: I use it all the time whenever we have like
- 55:18Speaker 3: where we take our kids into you know, urgent care
- 55:21Speaker 3: or something like that, or the kids. Peter Tristan does
- 55:24Speaker 3: a lot of golf tournaments and stuff like that for charity,
- 55:27Speaker 3: and I'm always using my scrubs, uh, just to and
- 55:33Speaker 3: and and playing golf obviously too.
- 55:34Speaker 1: But I love it. You started, he started. He started
- 55:40Speaker 1: out to make sure his kids got good healthcare, and
- 55:43Speaker 1: then it became to play golf with fans golfers.
- 55:46Speaker 3: Well there's that. There's that too, but for for sure,
- 55:50Speaker 3: man like I just know, I just know that, you know, you,
- 55:55Speaker 3: especially in that professional, treat somebody like you want to
- 55:57Speaker 3: be treated. It's like the same thing when you go
- 55:59Speaker 3: to a restaurant. What asshole sits there and says, you
- 56:02Speaker 3: know what, I'm gonna treat this waiter like shit and
- 56:05Speaker 3: doesn't expect their food to get fucking spit on or.
- 56:10Speaker 1: I was a waiter and I and I I never
- 56:14Speaker 1: understood the people that were assholes, because there are plenty
- 56:17Speaker 1: of people that would fuck with your ship and do not.
- 56:21Speaker 3: It's when I leave this area, I'm gonna go and
- 56:25Speaker 3: tell all these people what a dick you are. So
- 56:30Speaker 3: when watching this show and this guy saying all these things,
- 56:32Speaker 3: I'm like, this dude wants to die. He must want
- 56:35Speaker 3: to die. Or there's no way that you could be
- 56:39Speaker 3: that insensitive. Go get me my fucking thing. Go do
- 56:42Speaker 3: this for me. Shut the fuck up you. I don't
- 56:44Speaker 3: understand how you do it.
- 56:46Speaker 1: Yeah, Nurse Fahida, I mean, come on, nurse, come on,
- 56:48Speaker 1: you're gonna get punched. Yeah, listen. How about Kelly Williams
- 56:52Speaker 1: as Kristin Murphy sucking on her finger in a in
- 56:56Speaker 1: a manner similar to fillatio in order to lure Johnny
- 57:01Speaker 1: c over to her house.
- 57:03Speaker 3: But I was.
- 57:03Speaker 4: Watching it, I gotta say, I don't like being I
- 57:06Speaker 4: wouldn't want someone sucking their finger and then touching my face.
- 57:15Speaker 3: Yuck.
- 57:16Speaker 1: That didn't work. To turn you on, Crystal.
- 57:20Speaker 2: To smell like spit, you can smell like you know.
- 57:25Speaker 1: What's crazy is that there's no way that was written.
- 57:27Speaker 1: So I'm just trying to figure out how that came about,
- 57:30Speaker 1: Like did Kelly, she must have improved that. There's no
- 57:32Speaker 1: way it's said in the script. And then she sucks
- 57:36Speaker 1: her pointer finger as a in a seductive manner and
- 57:40Speaker 1: touches his nose. I really want to know how that
- 57:45Speaker 1: came about.
- 57:47Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 57:48Speaker 1: Really resists that woman. She she comes on so strong.
- 57:53Speaker 3: It says a lot of that's what she said, jokes
- 57:55Speaker 3: and everything. It's like it's like a It's like a
- 57:57Speaker 3: single man's wet dream right there, dude, Right she's giving
- 58:01Speaker 3: you all of this energy. And he wants to go
- 58:04Speaker 3: lift a dresser with Carla.
- 58:07Speaker 1: By the way, I had totally forgotten I know he's
- 58:09Speaker 1: talking about this. I am totally forgotten how fucking obsessed
- 58:12Speaker 1: he is with Carla, and this episode like brought it
- 58:15Speaker 1: to a new level. He's got this beautiful woman sucking
- 58:18Speaker 1: on her finger telling him that she's coming over, and
- 58:22Speaker 1: and and and.
- 58:22Speaker 3: She said, she said to him, she said to him,
- 58:26Speaker 3: you're gonna be He said, he said, you gotta slow down,
- 58:30Speaker 3: And she said to him, you're gonna be saying that tonight.
- 58:33Speaker 2: Dude, dude, just pause for a second.
- 58:37Speaker 4: Does any did anyone notice how adorable I look in
- 58:40Speaker 4: this episode.
- 58:41Speaker 1: Of Getting She doesn't.
- 58:44Speaker 2: Doesn't He doesn't care about Kelly Williams.
- 58:47Speaker 1: I love is like, guys, yeah, guys, I don't want
- 58:51Speaker 1: to I don't want to be say the obvious reason,
- 58:55Speaker 1: right right.
- 58:57Speaker 3: Right.
- 58:58Speaker 1: But Chris, now this is before you come into the picture.
- 59:00Speaker 4: But he knows that there's a possibility that I'm coming over.
- 59:05Speaker 3: You texted him earlier like what you're doing?
- 59:07Speaker 2: Yeah, what you're doing?
- 59:08Speaker 5: You get off?
- 59:09Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 59:11Speaker 2: He is Finis Carrey Show.
- 59:15Speaker 3: Let's go so.
- 59:17Speaker 1: But he so pee whipped that he's gonna help Judy
- 59:21Speaker 1: Carla move a dresser and uh and in his Porsche
- 59:24Speaker 1: by the way, which is not a very good card
- 59:26Speaker 1: for moving and dresser. They're gonna strap it to the roof.
- 59:28Speaker 1: Who would ever strap up dresser of the roof of
- 59:30Speaker 1: their port.
- 59:32Speaker 3: But somebody who's desperate for that for that Uh anyway, go.
- 59:37Speaker 1: On, yeah, all right, our guest is here. We're so behind.
- 59:42Speaker 1: We we're three minutes in and our guest is here.
- 59:44Speaker 1: So we're do a break and then we're gonna come
- 59:46Speaker 1: back with more fun.
- 59:48Speaker 5: Uh.
- 59:48Speaker 1: And we're gonna hear Chris to talk about how she
- 59:52Speaker 1: seduces men, including Johnny and Bill Lawrence. Right back, No, we're.
- 1:00:04Speaker 3: Bull what's that man?
- 1:00:06Speaker 5: How you doing?
- 1:00:06Speaker 3: How do you say your name?
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: Oh?
- 1:00:08Speaker 5: It's just Austin.
- 1:00:09Speaker 3: It's awesome. It said something different on your screen five
- 1:00:11Speaker 3: seconds ago.
- 1:00:12Speaker 5: Dude. Yeah, that's that's because I usually used him to
- 1:00:15Speaker 5: play D and D. So it's my dn.
- 1:00:17Speaker 3: D name.
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: Is becoming a running theme on this podcast for getting Donald.
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: You're not going to go off on some crazy long
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: dice tanging.
- 1:00:26Speaker 3: No no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no no,
- 1:00:28Speaker 3: I will.
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: Well, don't you steal Donald's Oprah voice, but introduce Austin
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: to us.
- 1:00:33Speaker 6: Hey, guys, we've got Austin in the house.
- 1:00:35Speaker 2: Big fan.
- 1:00:36Speaker 6: Austin, you want to tell the guys a little bit
- 1:00:39Speaker 6: about why you're a fan of Scrubs.
- 1:00:41Speaker 5: Yeah, sure, So I got into Scrubs when I was
- 1:00:44Speaker 5: a kid. I'm only like twenty nine.
- 1:00:48Speaker 3: And I was only twenty nine.
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: You don't I don't think you're allowed to say twenty
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: nine and only in the same set way. I think
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: only is sort of done at twenty. Yeah, I'm only
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: forty five and I'm just uh.
- 1:01:06Speaker 5: Sorry, no, no, it's super chill. But my mom was
- 1:01:10Speaker 5: a big fan of the show. My mom was into
- 1:01:12Speaker 5: a bunch of the doctor shows. So I just watched
- 1:01:14Speaker 5: it all the time with my mom and I got
- 1:01:18Speaker 5: really into it, kept watching it forever.
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: Well.
- 1:01:21Speaker 3: Great, Wait, you got your headset on you a game
- 1:01:23Speaker 3: or two?
- 1:01:24Speaker 5: I am, I'm a gamer and I like stream and junk.
- 1:01:27Speaker 5: So I got these like big, big big, they are big.
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: And what do you play? What do you what do
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: you stream and or play the most? Because Donald's a
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: gamer and uh or ec us TV before he had kids,
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: so many kids deal with kids. But what do you play?
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: Donald will probably know what it is.
- 1:01:45Speaker 5: Uh the game? So I mean right now where I
- 1:01:47Speaker 5: play the most?
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: Okay, I don't know anything about animal crossing. Christy, your
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: kids probably play animal crossing.
- 1:01:53Speaker 2: I don't know from video games.
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: Okay, but what can you Donald? Do you know animal crossing?
- 1:01:59Speaker 3: I have no idea.
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: What often can you tell us what? What the basic
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: idea of animal crossing is?
- 1:02:03Speaker 5: Yeah? So the basic gave of animal crossing is you're
- 1:02:06Speaker 5: a human and you have a bunch of antipromofic animal
- 1:02:09Speaker 5: friends and you all live on this this game. It's
- 1:02:12Speaker 5: an island. Sometimes it's a town. They tsk you the
- 1:02:16Speaker 5: human of like making the town nice, and that's kind
- 1:02:20Speaker 5: of it. You just you design this like town to
- 1:02:23Speaker 5: look how you want, and you just like invite friends.
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: Yeah, it's like it's like the Sims. But you can
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: invite can't you go visit people and really talk to strangers?
- 1:02:34Speaker 5: You can if you want to. You can invite friends over.
- 1:02:37Speaker 5: You can go to other people's eyelands. It's it's really
- 1:02:39Speaker 5: like it's a lot like the Sims, but like if
- 1:02:41Speaker 5: you wanted to, let like a six year old play
- 1:02:43Speaker 5: the Sims on supervised, Like animal crossing is a pretty
- 1:02:47Speaker 5: safe bet. They can't get into too much like weirdness.
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: Yeah. I remember when my sim died. I got really upset.
- 1:02:55Speaker 5: You don't an animal crossing things?
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: Yeah, see, you can kill your sim. I don't know
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: if you guys have killed sim.
- 1:03:01Speaker 3: I've never killed. I've never killed. Did they build the
- 1:03:03Speaker 3: graveyard in the backyard. That's what the graveyards are for.
- 1:03:05Speaker 3: That's what the graveyards are.
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: Joelle, you're smiling. Have you ever killed a Sim?
- 1:03:09Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 1:03:09Speaker 6: Actually, instead of getting animal crossings, my brothers and I
- 1:03:11Speaker 6: have been obsessively playing SIMS four, and he built a
- 1:03:15Speaker 6: basement that they could not get.
- 1:03:16Speaker 3: Out of.
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: The great sad. I thought. I was, I was shocked.
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: I was like, you can kill a sim. Yeah, you
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: can kill your sim. Don't walk him in the basement.
- 1:03:30Speaker 3: Austin, where are you where you call it from?
- 1:03:31Speaker 6: Man?
- 1:03:32Speaker 5: I am in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
- 1:03:34Speaker 3: Oh, Michigan, in the house.
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: Right on, Austin, Do you have a question for the
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: legendary Donald Faison or Krista Miller or Zach or you
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: can ask me to.
- 1:03:43Speaker 5: I do have a question for Zach and Donald. I
- 1:03:47Speaker 5: was just curious, like what y'all missed the most about
- 1:03:51Speaker 5: not being on Scrubs anymore, Like not being on a
- 1:03:54Speaker 5: project together. That's like in person filming all the time.
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: This what you're hearing, Austin. It's the easiest question to answer,
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: and it's this. It's like if you just you weren't
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: on before, but just sitting around with Christa and Donald
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: and cracking up, that's what we would do every day,
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: and just so happened that we'd also be making a
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: TV show. But we were just like it was our
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: group of friends, not just the cast, but the crew
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: and the writers, and I don't know they'll ever be
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: lucky enough to have a job where the assignment is
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: to go and laugh your ass off all day. Yeah,
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: we really I really missed that. It was like a
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: natural drug. It was like an all natural drug that
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: is gone from my life. I mean, just cracking up
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: five days a week.
- 1:04:36Speaker 3: And because because we get the opportunity to do this podcast,
- 1:04:40Speaker 3: we get to relive it all again, you know what
- 1:04:41Speaker 3: I mean, And it's really awesome. We were before you
- 1:04:44Speaker 3: came on, Austome. We were talking to Christa about things
- 1:04:47Speaker 3: that had nothing to do with the show, and we're
- 1:04:49Speaker 3: just pretty much catching up. Even though I've talked to
- 1:04:52Speaker 3: we talked to Christa like recently, we're still on you know,
- 1:04:55Speaker 3: now that we have mics in our face, We're like,
- 1:04:57Speaker 3: let's let's just let's talk some more. Let's talk about
- 1:05:00Speaker 3: some the great times we had.
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: So don't you miss that, Krista giggling.
- 1:05:04Speaker 2: I could do this.
- 1:05:07Speaker 4: Podcasts every day.
- 1:05:12Speaker 3: You guys ives you're the christ is the first guest
- 1:05:16Speaker 3: in Fake Doctor's Real Friend's History that's been was booked twice.
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: Before she even before she's gonna she and Bill Lawrence
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: are going to be on the finale of season one
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: together and I predict mayhem. I hope that Bill lasts
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: for a stop hug during the show, Oh he will.
- 1:05:35Speaker 2: You know, you know what it was is that Scrubs.
- 1:05:37Speaker 4: Also, I don't know if that I worked on a
- 1:05:39Speaker 4: job before where we were.
- 1:05:42Speaker 2: Truly friends, yes, and truly friends.
- 1:05:46Speaker 4: You're all in this hospital and and you're not seeing
- 1:05:52Speaker 4: any other people, so you're in it. You're doing this
- 1:05:55Speaker 4: funny work, which you know when you're doing it is
- 1:05:58Speaker 4: really funny, right, and and.
- 1:06:02Speaker 2: All the people around are funny.
- 1:06:03Speaker 4: All the writers were talented, all the actors are talented,
- 1:06:06Speaker 4: and you could go and be stupid if it didn't
- 1:06:09Speaker 4: work out, that was fine because everyone was doing it.
- 1:06:12Speaker 2: And I just felt like my.
- 1:06:15Speaker 4: Work got so much better every time I would work
- 1:06:18Speaker 4: on that show because everyone would elevate you. You know,
- 1:06:21Speaker 4: there wasn't like the weak link that you didn't you know,
- 1:06:26Speaker 4: want to be with, and it was it was such
- 1:06:29Speaker 4: a special time.
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: We would we would finish the show and then hang
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: out on weekends like, no, when has that ever happened? Again?
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: I don't know. I mean maybe if you're on location
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: somewhere with someone, but but yeah, it was. It was
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: it was just a it was just a once in
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: a lifetime I hope it's not a once in a
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: lifetime experience. I hope I get to experience something especially again.
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: But I just can't imagine that I'll ever have such
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: a group as we did.
- 1:06:53Speaker 3: Yeah, we were very lucky, awesome, well, and the.
- 1:06:56Speaker 4: Tone was of like camaraderie and support if anyone did something,
- 1:07:01Speaker 4: you know what it was. It wasn't the person there
- 1:07:03Speaker 4: that wanted to have all the jokes or was trying
- 1:07:06Speaker 4: to steal focused or doing all Everyone was happy for
- 1:07:09Speaker 4: everyone else to be funny.
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: Yeah, and you got a sense like this is this
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: person's time to shine, Like don't get in their way,
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: let them, let them crush it. And we were like
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: rooting each other on.
- 1:07:19Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: I got another question, my friend.
- 1:07:23Speaker 5: I do have another question. This one's from my mom, because,
- 1:07:26Speaker 5: like I said, you got me into the show. So
- 1:07:28Speaker 5: when I found out, I had to give her a.
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: Call because a mom's boy is Donald and I are.
- 1:07:35Speaker 5: My mom. Just wanted to know what was everybody's favorite
- 1:07:38Speaker 5: episode of film.
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: Christy, you want to go first as our special guest.
- 1:07:46Speaker 2: Favorite episode.
- 1:07:51Speaker 4: I loved that scene that I tell everyone off and
- 1:07:57Speaker 4: ruin everybody's life.
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: And everybody's big monologue, just destroy everybody.
- 1:08:02Speaker 4: Yeah, and then I tell her, but I also will
- 1:08:04Speaker 4: say this the moment that I wish I could do overs.
- 1:08:08Speaker 4: I don't feel like I took a good advantage of
- 1:08:12Speaker 4: being able to have a proper makeout session with Zach Brath.
- 1:08:16Speaker 3: Oh my god, you know what I mean, Like, I
- 1:08:18Speaker 3: just it just got really uncomfortable.
- 1:08:21Speaker 4: I just feel like I didn't investigate that as thoroughly
- 1:08:25Speaker 4: as I wanted to.
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: Oh my god, by the way she says this ship
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: in front of Bill. Can you imagine how dear listeners,
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: imagine how awkward it is when she says this ship
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: in front of Bill and she She'll be We'll be
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: standing there. It will be like a dinner, and she'll
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: be like, you know, Bill, I just I wish I
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: just didn't save her the time the making scenes.
- 1:08:44Speaker 4: I didn't save her. I didn't say one more take.
- 1:08:46Speaker 4: I didn't like get into it.
- 1:08:48Speaker 3: I didn't, you know, I should have said one more take.
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: And Bill's and Bill and Bill's just saying and just
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: Bill's just standing there shaking his head, and I'm like,
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: shut the fuck up.
- 1:08:58Speaker 4: And I was like, Zach was a little nervous. Maybe
- 1:09:00Speaker 4: we could revisit it now, Yeah.
- 1:09:02Speaker 2: We do.
- 1:09:04Speaker 3: Oh, I got it so awkward right now?
- 1:09:06Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: Could you guys get off the zoom call for my Donald?
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: Do you want to go? I know what my show is.
- 1:09:13Speaker 3: My favorite episode to shoot was the musical episode. I
- 1:09:16Speaker 3: really enjoyed that. There are a bunch of things that
- 1:09:19Speaker 3: I got to do on this show that were bucket
- 1:09:23Speaker 3: list type things like I wanted I've always wanted to
- 1:09:25Speaker 3: be in a Star Wars and I got to do
- 1:09:28Speaker 3: that very early on in this show. One of my
- 1:09:31Speaker 3: favorite actors in the Whole Wide World is well, I
- 1:09:35Speaker 3: should say characters in the Whole Wide World are characters
- 1:09:39Speaker 3: that Harrison Ford has played, and Indiana Jones was one
- 1:09:43Speaker 3: of them, and I got the opportunity to do that
- 1:09:45Speaker 3: as well. But I really, most most of all, I
- 1:09:50Speaker 3: enjoyed doing the musical episode and having to dance and sing.
- 1:09:53Speaker 3: You know, I front like I tell it. People ask me,
- 1:09:56Speaker 3: are you a fan of musical theater? And I'll lie
- 1:09:58Speaker 3: and I'll say to them, absolutely not. I hate musical theater.
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: You don't show that anymore.
- 1:10:03Speaker 3: I still say that to people. I'll be like, why why,
- 1:10:06Speaker 3: I say that a lot.
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: Yes, Donald get in his car without his kids and
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: play Frozen.
- 1:10:12Speaker 3: I will do I would do that, not only Frozen,
- 1:10:14Speaker 3: I'll play like. I'll play I play les Miss in
- 1:10:17Speaker 3: the car. I play five guys named Mo in the
- 1:10:20Speaker 3: car like I go all in. But I really enjoyed
- 1:10:24Speaker 3: dancing and singing and uh with with with these guys.
- 1:10:30Speaker 5: It was a lot of fun.
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: My favorite episode is the one we've mentioned before. It
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: was my first episode directing, and it was one of
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: the most epic episodes we've ever shot because Bill wanted
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: to give me something that was quite literally impossible to
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: execute in five days. But I was living my dream.
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: I was working on the show that I was so
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: proud of and excited about. The episode was huge. It's
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: the one where Donald and I go on a quest
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: over the course of one night to find Heather Graham's
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: character Molly to give her the permission slip from Sarah
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: that says I'm allowed to have sex with her. And
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: Johnny's storyline is that he has to go to a
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: ride with in an ambulance as part of his training,
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: and Molly Shannon was the guest star and I don't know,
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: I just really it turned out really great, and as
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: Donald's reminded me at some point, said, do you say it?
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: I was treated by a kyo?
- 1:11:30Speaker 3: Donald, I was treated by a kyo. Where you've been?
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: I was treed by a coyote?
- 1:11:36Speaker 3: No, I go, I go, I go, I go to you?
- 1:11:37Speaker 3: How the hell did you get up there? I was
- 1:11:40Speaker 3: treed by a kyot.
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: I love it when Donald does his Woody Allen. I
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: was treated by I was treed. So that was a
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: really great episode and I just felt really proud of
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: it and I pulled it off, and it was one
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: of those things where it's one of my favorite episodes.
- 1:11:57Speaker 5: We'll give you one more question if you haven't. Yeah,
- 1:12:02Speaker 5: well that was just thank you.
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: No, we didn't tell the guy he was going to
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: have three.
- 1:12:10Speaker 5: How are people staying sane in this pandemic?
- 1:12:14Speaker 3: You know, this is an escape for us, to be
- 1:12:16Speaker 3: honest with you, This is this If I didn't have
- 1:12:20Speaker 3: this outlet, you know. My wife said to me actually
- 1:12:24Speaker 3: this morning, she was like, you don't understand, man. You
- 1:12:28Speaker 3: have an outlet. You get to talk to your best friend,
- 1:12:31Speaker 3: and you get to talk to the people that you
- 1:12:33Speaker 3: worked with for over ten you know, for ten years.
- 1:12:37Speaker 3: You get to talk to them once or twice a week.
- 1:12:41Speaker 3: I don't have an outlet like that. So she's going
- 1:12:43Speaker 3: insane right now, you know what I mean. And she's
- 1:12:46Speaker 3: with the kids while I'm doing this right now. But
- 1:12:48Speaker 3: this is an escape for me, and I wish I
- 1:12:50Speaker 3: could bring my wife up in here so she could
- 1:12:53Speaker 3: enjoy this too, because she would have such a great.
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: Time she come on one day. I just realized she
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: would love to come on. Hilarious and so funny.
- 1:13:01Speaker 3: She would also embarrass the shot out of me too
- 1:13:04Speaker 3: by talking about me, uh, talking about things that I want.
- 1:13:07Speaker 5: We're gonna have to do.
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: We should one day, like if we keep doing this,
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: we should do like the significant others.
- 1:13:13Speaker 3: Guests go right right and how they dealt with.
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: We'll test it out with Bill and Christa on the
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: on the season one finale and see how it comes.
- 1:13:21Speaker 3: But awesome. That's how I stay saying, me.
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: Too, me too. I'm the same way, man. I look
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: so forward to this, and especially seeing the reaction to
- 1:13:28Speaker 1: it and people loving it so much. It's just it's
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: mind boggling to us. And so it is. It's like therapy.
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: We come here and me we laugh and giggle and
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: act stupid and I'm really loving it. Chris Sane, how
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: are you staying scene over there?
- 1:13:42Speaker 2: I've been writing with someone. I've been.
- 1:13:47Speaker 4: You know, all my kids are here. It's you know,
- 1:13:50Speaker 4: in La. We have a good setup. You know, we
- 1:13:52Speaker 4: have croquet in the backyard. We played croquet every afternoon.
- 1:13:57Speaker 4: We had a very rousing game of code names last night,
- 1:14:00Speaker 4: which was very fun. You know, I'm happy just doing
- 1:14:04Speaker 4: my thing.
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: By the way, as we started the show, Austin, you
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: weren't here. But there are certain people that are so happy,
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: you know that they don't that the world has given
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: them permission to not have to leave their house. And
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: christ is one of those. She's like, oh, no one,
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: no one gets to tell me that I have to
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: go do things. I'm fine, thank you.
- 1:14:22Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm totally fine.
- 1:14:24Speaker 3: What about you, Austin? How are you staying sane?
- 1:14:27Speaker 5: You know a lot of video games, a lot of
- 1:14:30Speaker 5: I picked up, like a bunch of extra tabletop gaming
- 1:14:33Speaker 5: besides D and D since this all started.
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: What's one you can recommend to our listeners. That's not
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: too hard because I know some of these tabletop games
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: are very complicated, like D and D. But if someone
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: if someone who's listening, including myself, wanted to kind of
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: get into the world of tabletop gaming. What it is
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: one or two that you recommend?
- 1:14:53Speaker 5: Uh one I really coommend is bubble Gum Shoe.
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: I'm running that down.
- 1:14:59Speaker 5: It is. Kids can't play it. You play as a
- 1:15:02Speaker 5: teenage detective. Okay, so you're a teen detective and the
- 1:15:08Speaker 5: rules are pretty simple. The character sheet I have mind
- 1:15:11Speaker 5: right here, it's like a single page. There's not a
- 1:15:14Speaker 5: bunch of complex rules you have to remember a bunch
- 1:15:16Speaker 5: of math you gotta do.
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: So there's that one. What about another one, bubble Gum Show.
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: I wrote that down.
- 1:15:23Speaker 5: Another one is uh no, thank you Evil.
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: I believe it's the name, Thank you Evil.
- 1:15:29Speaker 3: Can my kids play that too?
- 1:15:31Speaker 5: Your kids can't play that one too. It is an
- 1:15:33Speaker 5: all ages tabletop RPG game that scales the rules depending
- 1:15:37Speaker 5: on how old the kid is.
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: So s you should be writing this down because Donald
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: could have like forty players at his house.
- 1:15:48Speaker 5: Oh cool, you man, All right, there's not that many
- 1:15:51Speaker 5: of us.
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: Listen, Casey got pregnant, like while we were on this podcast. Listen,
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: what about Settlers of Katan? I hear about that. It
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: feels like that's the most famous for us non board
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: game people. That's the most famous one you hear about.
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: Do you like that one?
- 1:16:09Speaker 5: I don't like Settlers of Catan. Nothing against the artists
- 1:16:12Speaker 5: who worked on it or the team who made.
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: Sorry, I started to interrupt, but holy, both of our producers.
- 1:16:20Speaker 1: I want you to know that both of our producers
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: sometimes have their cameras off. They both flipped their cameras
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: on to show how fucking limits coming back, Dan, you
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: gotta come back and walked away. Joel almost fell off
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: her chair. Danny, I'm just.
- 1:16:37Speaker 5: A humble fan. I mean, I love Settlers.
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: No, it's fine. I just want you to know you
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: gave both of our producers a heart attack.
- 1:16:47Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm not a big fan of Settlers of God against.
- 1:16:54Speaker 1: I know now that the show Joelle just Joelle just
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: left the room. She had to get off.
- 1:17:01Speaker 5: Yeah, that that big on Settlers.
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: All right, well, listen, I'm here to tell you. I'm
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: here to tell you everyone. I don't know sellers with can,
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: but I can tell you that are very strong opinions
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: on both sides of loving or hating Austin. We got
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: to go because we've already run so long. Thank you
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: so much, for coming, thanks for being a fan, and
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: uh and uh and and thanks for the recommendations on
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: the games.
- 1:17:22Speaker 5: Yeah, thanks so much for having me.
- 1:17:24Speaker 2: Do you want to mention your Twitch stream?
- 1:17:26Speaker 5: Oh sure, yeah, I stream with Welcome to the Party
- 1:17:31Speaker 5: RPG every Saturday at eight pm Eastern Standard time. Uh,
- 1:17:35Speaker 5: where you can watch you play Bubble Gum Shoe.
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: Well, there you go, guys. I think Krista will be
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: definitely tuning in and yes and uh no, but I'd
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: love to watch you play. And I can't wait to
- 1:17:48Speaker 1: tune in to watch you and Joel and Dan play
- 1:17:50Speaker 1: Sellers of Catan and have them have them change your
- 1:17:54Speaker 1: mind off.
- 1:17:55Speaker 5: Thank you everybody. You'll have a lovely day.
- 1:17:59Speaker 1: Wow, I've not We've been doing this for eighteen episodes.
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: I've never seen Joel or Dan get that worked up
- 1:18:04Speaker 1: about anything.
- 1:18:05Speaker 3: They got very worked up just now. Joelle gets worked
- 1:18:07Speaker 3: up when we talk Star Wars.
- 1:18:09Speaker 1: I know, but I gotta tell you that was the
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: best adverseillers of Good Tan I've ever seen ever in
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: the history. I know, but we're gonna get them as
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: an advertiser now because our producers flipped out, all right.
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: When the janitor says this, stethoscope is mine, and then
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: he says into the stethoscope, it's getting hot, Redbird pull
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: me out. That shit was funny, I'll laugh.
- 1:18:29Speaker 3: I left at that too.
- 1:18:30Speaker 1: That's clearly a Neil improv because there's no way that
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: was written into the scrip.
- 1:18:35Speaker 3: I like the I do.
- 1:18:37Speaker 4: I did love the c story because I of Donald
- 1:18:40Speaker 4: and Sarah, of finding out about Ken Jenkins musical past.
- 1:18:46Speaker 4: But I do love Donald and Sarah together. The chemistry
- 1:18:52Speaker 4: with the two of them is very.
- 1:18:54Speaker 3: Unique, I wrote, I wrote at the end of this,
- 1:18:56Speaker 3: I wrote, I've really enjoyed watching Sarah and I together.
- 1:19:02Speaker 3: Uh and and we didn't get to do a lot.
- 1:19:04Speaker 3: I don't recall us doing a lot together while making
- 1:19:09Speaker 3: the show. So going back and seeing this, it was like,
- 1:19:11Speaker 3: holy shit, we had a good little dynamic duo thing going.
- 1:19:17Speaker 2: Yeah, and it's a it's a it's kind of an
- 1:19:19Speaker 2: unusual chemistry.
- 1:19:21Speaker 4: It's it's definitely different in a way, like you're both
- 1:19:24Speaker 4: kind of silly, Like there's some bumbling element to it
- 1:19:30Speaker 4: that's very funny, Like you have a line reading when
- 1:19:32Speaker 4: you're you're still holding onto her finger because she swore
- 1:19:35Speaker 4: to you that she wasn't going to do it and then.
- 1:19:39Speaker 2: In a second she sees Ken she's She says, I
- 1:19:42Speaker 2: heard you did the music and you went you you swore.
- 1:19:47Speaker 1: I didn't notice that they were still touching pinky Yeah, we're.
- 1:19:50Speaker 2: Still holding each other's pinkies.
- 1:19:52Speaker 5: And then I pulled away. You sa.
- 1:19:56Speaker 3: Like, I enjoyed that a lot as going back in
- 1:20:00Speaker 3: looking at this, who knew Ken Jenkins was that good
- 1:20:04Speaker 3: of a guitar player, Dude.
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: I know, I knew we had a great voice. I
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: forgot that he could play the guitar like that.
- 1:20:10Speaker 3: Dude, it sounded like he was he was blusing out, man,
- 1:20:13Speaker 3: he was going hard. Was that actually him playing yeah?
- 1:20:17Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 1:20:17Speaker 1: Yeah? Clearly him playing yeah yeah.
- 1:20:20Speaker 3: Oh my gosh.
- 1:20:22Speaker 1: You know it's funny. Most of the cast, with the
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: exception of Sarah when we did the musical, could really sing.
- 1:20:29Speaker 3: Yeah, had had some form of musical talent. Although Sarah
- 1:20:32Speaker 3: does dance in this episode.
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: Sarah can dance. For dancing this episode is very adorable.
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: Yeah I told her, I told you so, dance.
- 1:20:38Speaker 5: Yeah, I told you so.
- 1:20:40Speaker 3: But I remember that went that went a lot further,
- 1:20:43Speaker 3: but they cut it for the episode. Like she gets
- 1:20:46Speaker 3: into the full splits when and when we would play
- 1:20:50Speaker 3: the the gag reel and they let that thing go.
- 1:20:54Speaker 3: At one point she got all the way down into
- 1:20:56Speaker 3: a full split, but I guess for the show they
- 1:20:58Speaker 3: felt they was going on.
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: Oh really, So if you're into did you guys can
- 1:21:01Speaker 1: watch the Blueberr slash gag reel of season one and
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: there's probably video of Sarah doing extending that dance for
- 1:21:07Speaker 1: a long time.
- 1:21:07Speaker 3: Told you so, I told you all the way down
- 1:21:09Speaker 3: to the split.
- 1:21:10Speaker 1: Yeah, she's so adorable when she dances.
- 1:21:12Speaker 2: Yeah, she's so adorable in general.
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: I know I miss her, I really know she We
- 1:21:18Speaker 1: don't get to see Sarah that much because she's often
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: in Canada. But when when the world's not closed down,
- 1:21:23Speaker 1: you know, we see Christa and Bill and obviously Donald
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: and I see each other. We don't ever see Chalky
- 1:21:30Speaker 1: as we call her.
- 1:21:31Speaker 3: Yeah, I do miss her.
- 1:21:34Speaker 4: You know what?
- 1:21:34Speaker 3: You know what I missed this year was the Easter.
- 1:21:37Speaker 1: Yeah that you guys do has a beautiful Easter party
- 1:21:42Speaker 1: with bunnies, with bunnies, bunnies.
- 1:21:44Speaker 4: Every everyone was sad and I thought we would do
- 1:21:48Speaker 4: it this summer, like, but we can't.
- 1:21:50Speaker 2: So we're just gonna have to wait till next year,
- 1:21:52Speaker 2: and the Easter.
- 1:21:53Speaker 4: Book this year is amazing, and I have I was
- 1:21:57Speaker 4: just thinking as I was talking to you, guys, I
- 1:21:58Speaker 4: have to send you some of the pictures because I
- 1:22:00Speaker 4: have pictures of you and Zach and John c that
- 1:22:04Speaker 4: are so sweet, like you just have your arms, like
- 1:22:07Speaker 4: really sweet pictures.
- 1:22:08Speaker 1: I love that party you have, and every year that
- 1:22:11Speaker 1: I'm going, I'm like a little kid because I'm like,
- 1:22:12Speaker 1: I'm excited to see everyone. But then in my head,
- 1:22:14Speaker 1: I'm like, bunnies.
- 1:22:16Speaker 3: Yeah, my kids love that party so much. They can't
- 1:22:19Speaker 3: you know, there's an Easter egg hunt. There's you know,
- 1:22:23Speaker 3: there are there are bunnies, there are goats, there are
- 1:22:26Speaker 3: a bunch of different animals, baskets. Oh my gosh.
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: They for the love and for the adults. Alcohol.
- 1:22:33Speaker 2: Yeah, alcohol, but also everyone knows each other. It's kind
- 1:22:37Speaker 2: of a great group. Yeah, Ross comes, it's just all good.
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: You guys throw a really good party. I think when
- 1:22:43Speaker 1: the world opens up, you should throw a bash.
- 1:22:46Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, Bill.
- 1:22:50Speaker 1: So Krista Miller Booty Call is at seven thirty five. Yeah,
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: it's a great entrance. Christa, you walk, you walk right in.
- 1:22:56Speaker 1: You're like, you don't even knock on the door. You're like,
- 1:22:59Speaker 1: let's do that.
- 1:23:00Speaker 3: Hey, honey, honey, I'm home. That's what she says, Honey,
- 1:23:03Speaker 3: I'm home.
- 1:23:05Speaker 1: She goes right to the bar starts pouring herself a drink, and.
- 1:23:08Speaker 3: He says something stupid. She's like, if you're going to
- 1:23:10Speaker 3: talk like that, I need to pour me a bigger drink. Yeah.
- 1:23:12Speaker 2: Oh my god, it's so boring, so boring.
- 1:23:16Speaker 1: You know, we never learned about Jordan's other love interests.
- 1:23:20Speaker 1: I mean, clearly Jordan was I'm sure not solely using
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: doctor Cox as a booty call, or maybe she was.
- 1:23:27Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 1:23:27Speaker 3: What do you think.
- 1:23:27Speaker 2: I don't think so.
- 1:23:28Speaker 5: No, No, you do you think you do what we
- 1:23:32Speaker 5: saw you?
- 1:23:33Speaker 2: You were one of the booty calls.
- 1:23:35Speaker 1: No, I was never your booty call. Well, yeah, that's true.
- 1:23:38Speaker 4: You are.
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: Sorry, Sorry, sorry I was, I was. I was. Yeah.
- 1:23:42Speaker 1: So I think she's having her way with lots of men,
- 1:23:44Speaker 1: probably right.
- 1:23:45Speaker 5: Yeah, But think in the back of her mind.
- 1:23:48Speaker 3: Did Jordan think in the back of her mind that
- 1:23:49Speaker 3: she was going to get back with Cox eventually?
- 1:23:53Speaker 2: Uh? I don't.
- 1:23:57Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 1:24:00Speaker 1: It's crazy people that get divorced and then get remarried.
- 1:24:03Speaker 1: That's such a that's also and.
- 1:24:04Speaker 4: Johnny C also have like four or five visectames and
- 1:24:08Speaker 4: then reverse vasectomies too for.
- 1:24:10Speaker 1: You though, yeah for me, yeah yeah, can you really
- 1:24:14Speaker 1: reverse a vasectomy with I mean.
- 1:24:17Speaker 3: You can, right, That's what the doctor said when he
- 1:24:19Speaker 3: did mine. He told me, don't worry, we can reverse
- 1:24:21Speaker 3: this shit really. Oh yeah, and anytime and when Casey
- 1:24:25Speaker 3: starts getting itchy again, we might have to do it.
- 1:24:28Speaker 3: That's all I know.
- 1:24:31Speaker 5: Now, bullshite, We're not gonna have no more kids. Crazy.
- 1:24:34Speaker 1: It's a shame that you snipped yourself. Donald. You make
- 1:24:37Speaker 1: such beautiful children.
- 1:24:38Speaker 2: They're so beautiful.
- 1:24:40Speaker 3: Thank you very very much.
- 1:24:41Speaker 1: And I know it's expensive, but you know, next time
- 1:24:44Speaker 1: you get some big ass job, you're gonna be like,
- 1:24:46Speaker 1: I need to plant my seed.
- 1:24:49Speaker 2: Now, Donald, how many kids you have?
- 1:24:51Speaker 1: Like fortune seven? Yeah?
- 1:24:53Speaker 5: I love that.
- 1:24:53Speaker 3: Yeah, it's up there now.
- 1:24:55Speaker 2: I mean I see like twelve of them at Easter,
- 1:24:58Speaker 2: which makes me happy.
- 1:25:00Speaker 3: Yeah, and then the other and then the other the
- 1:25:02Speaker 3: other thirty something.
- 1:25:04Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:25:05Speaker 1: Yeah, Donald, tell us about Holy son of a Cracker, because.
- 1:25:09Speaker 3: That that that I remember when I had to say that.
- 1:25:12Speaker 3: And you know who gave me that was Bill Lawrence.
- 1:25:14Speaker 3: Bill Lawrence. Yeah, there's no way.
- 1:25:16Speaker 1: Bill wrote holy son of a Cracker.
- 1:25:17Speaker 3: Bill Lawrence on set came to me and said, say,
- 1:25:20Speaker 3: holy son of a cracker.
- 1:25:21Speaker 5: I was like, what.
- 1:25:24Speaker 3: Say, holy son of a cracker?
- 1:25:25Speaker 1: I was like, George Jefferson used to say cracker all
- 1:25:27Speaker 1: the time.
- 1:25:28Speaker 3: Yeah, man, it's it derocker, you know. Okay, So look
- 1:25:31Speaker 3: for those of you who don't know, and then cracker
- 1:25:33Speaker 3: doesn't mean anything when somebody says a cracker is somebody
- 1:25:37Speaker 3: of the opposite race who cracks a whip on black people.
- 1:25:42Speaker 5: That's where a cracker is from.
- 1:25:43Speaker 3: That's where cracker comes from. You and and and you
- 1:25:47Speaker 3: are below other white people because all you are is
- 1:25:51Speaker 3: a whip cracker.
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: I see. So that's what you're calling JD JD.
- 1:25:56Speaker 2: Is called.
- 1:26:01Speaker 1: Just checking that. That's calling your best friend.
- 1:26:03Speaker 3: I'm just putting out there. So when Bill said that shit,
- 1:26:07Speaker 3: I was like, really, he was like, say it. I
- 1:26:09Speaker 3: was like, okay, but don't.
- 1:26:12Speaker 4: You think isn't it the fun the most fun part
- 1:26:15Speaker 4: in Scrubs When Bill would you'd be doing a joke
- 1:26:19Speaker 4: and Bill whispers something in your ear and he'd say,
- 1:26:21Speaker 4: don't say anything. So you haven't told anyone that you're
- 1:26:23Speaker 4: going to change the queue line for them, and then
- 1:26:26Speaker 4: you say something like son of a Cracker and then
- 1:26:29Speaker 4: everyone laughs.
- 1:26:30Speaker 2: It's the it's the best, it's.
- 1:26:32Speaker 3: The best feeling.
- 1:26:33Speaker 1: You know.
- 1:26:33Speaker 3: Who would never laugh though, is fucking Neil Flynn. You
- 1:26:37Speaker 3: could never say anything where he'd be like, I didn't
- 1:26:41Speaker 3: think that was fun. You caught me off guard. Yeah,
- 1:26:43Speaker 3: he would always be right away ready to go again. Christa,
- 1:26:48Speaker 3: was it Stuff or Maxim Magazine that you were on
- 1:26:50Speaker 3: the cover of.
- 1:26:51Speaker 2: I was the first Maxim magazine cover girl.
- 1:26:55Speaker 5: Okay, that is awesome. That's amazing.
- 1:26:59Speaker 3: Bill said. He used to walk around town holding the
- 1:27:02Speaker 3: magazine talking about this is my my girlfriend. Have you
- 1:27:05Speaker 3: seen a new Maximi my girlfriend?
- 1:27:11Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 1:27:12Speaker 2: It was. That was really fun and cool.
- 1:27:14Speaker 3: Yeah, so holy son of a Cracker. And I remember
- 1:27:17Speaker 3: also that day you were there. We were doing the
- 1:27:20Speaker 3: scene and we tried to convince Lawrence Trilling to who
- 1:27:25Speaker 3: directed this episode, to put lotion on the side of
- 1:27:28Speaker 3: the bed. So when Turk rolls over and says to Carla, hey,
- 1:27:32Speaker 3: so you know, since we're up, and she goes no, no, no.
- 1:27:36Speaker 3: Instead of him going back to sleep, we tried to
- 1:27:39Speaker 3: make it so that I rolled over and then squeezed
- 1:27:41Speaker 3: lotion and.
- 1:27:43Speaker 1: We definitely shot that shot that.
- 1:27:45Speaker 3: Yeah, we definitely shot that didn't That was hilarious. That
- 1:27:50Speaker 3: was one of those things where he was like, you know,
- 1:27:52Speaker 3: I showed it to Krista and she was like, yeah.
- 1:27:57Speaker 1: Christ didn't like masturbation. So, speaking of that ten twenty three,
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: when I come in and my my parents are playing Wheelbarrow,
- 1:28:07Speaker 1: and that's that's me, the voice of my own father, like,
- 1:28:13Speaker 1: go back to bed. I'm fixing mommy's back.
- 1:28:17Speaker 3: Which is very interesting because the very next episode, John Ridd.
- 1:28:21Speaker 1: Yes, John Ridder, It's such a shame that we can't.
- 1:28:26Speaker 1: I didn't even know who to have on. I actually
- 1:28:28Speaker 1: thought about having his son on, but then I thought,
- 1:28:30Speaker 1: I don't know if Jason even watched an episode of Scrubs,
- 1:28:33Speaker 1: but we're gonna have to turn that episode of into
- 1:28:34Speaker 1: just a beautiful memorial Christa in bed with Johnny C.
- 1:28:39Speaker 1: He's ripped Christa. So if you're gonna have a scene partner,
- 1:28:42Speaker 1: at least you get the very muscular Johnny C.
- 1:28:45Speaker 3: Yes, and I imagine this was one of those days
- 1:28:47Speaker 3: where you're like, dude, if you put all of that
- 1:28:49Speaker 3: fucking grease on your body, I'm gonna kill you.
- 1:28:53Speaker 2: I can't do that.
- 1:28:55Speaker 1: He would also do lots of push ups right, yes, yeah,
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: One secret for you young actors out there is that
- 1:29:02Speaker 1: if you do lots of push ups right before you're seen,
- 1:29:04Speaker 1: at least makes you look a little bit more ripped.
- 1:29:07Speaker 1: But not that Johnny needed to help. He's pretty damn ripped.
- 1:29:09Speaker 1: But Johnny would always bang out a whole bunch of
- 1:29:11Speaker 1: push ups.
- 1:29:11Speaker 3: But I did notice that this is one of those
- 1:29:13Speaker 3: episodes where the Crisco was light. It was light, it
- 1:29:15Speaker 3: was light. Light on.
- 1:29:19Speaker 4: You guys, will have to have me on when you
- 1:29:22Speaker 4: when we when you get far way farther down in seasons,
- 1:29:25Speaker 4: when I had to come in after giving birth to
- 1:29:27Speaker 4: Will two weeks after giving birth to Will and roll
- 1:29:31Speaker 4: slide around with Johnny c in bed with just looped up,
- 1:29:38Speaker 4: another show.
- 1:29:41Speaker 1: So he would just he would make his muscles glisten
- 1:29:44Speaker 1: or no, I think he was supposed to be post sex. It'
- 1:29:45Speaker 1: supposed to be sweaty, right.
- 1:29:47Speaker 3: No, it didn't his muscles glisten.
- 1:29:49Speaker 5: Dude, that was his thing, all right.
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: Well, he man likes to listen. If you have those
- 1:29:53Speaker 1: pectoralis majors, shine him up.
- 1:29:55Speaker 2: Yeah, let's see it.
- 1:29:57Speaker 1: Donald, I laughed when you said, have you guys ever
- 1:29:59Speaker 1: stopped at think that maybe Bunny is just a real bunny?
- 1:30:04Speaker 3: Turk is so dumb.
- 1:30:07Speaker 5: Dum. That was like a todd Yeah, he's so dumb.
- 1:30:11Speaker 5: I remember watching that.
- 1:30:14Speaker 1: I was like, what, so, Christa, do you think that
- 1:30:17Speaker 1: she was jealous? But then was the last thing in
- 1:30:20Speaker 1: the world she was gonna do is let him think
- 1:30:22Speaker 1: that she was jealous?
- 1:30:23Speaker 2: Of course, Well, this is my motto in life.
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: Also, so that was sort of method acting. Yes, it was.
- 1:30:32Speaker 5: Right.
- 1:30:33Speaker 1: That's so funny. And also speaking of very cristal things,
- 1:30:36Speaker 1: when you're in the cafeteria at sixteen oh nine and
- 1:30:38Speaker 1: they get in a fight and you go, I should leave.
- 1:30:41Speaker 1: And then when when Christy hears a good bit of
- 1:30:45Speaker 1: gossip like kiss her fingers like it like she's licking
- 1:30:48Speaker 1: off the juices. She'll do this face donal when you
- 1:30:55Speaker 1: put your fingers And I literally wrote down, I literally
- 1:31:02Speaker 1: went out on my notes. That is so Christa being
- 1:31:04Speaker 1: like I should leave.
- 1:31:05Speaker 2: But not leaving, not leaving at all.
- 1:31:08Speaker 5: All right, how did they do the sweat thing on you? Dude?
- 1:31:11Speaker 1: There was like a little hidden hose, tiny little hose
- 1:31:15Speaker 1: in my hairline, and I think that's how it was done.
- 1:31:18Speaker 1: And then it just drips it. Just open it up
- 1:31:21Speaker 1: and face.
- 1:31:23Speaker 3: That was crazy.
- 1:31:24Speaker 1: That was well done.
- 1:31:25Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:31:26Speaker 3: Also, when you got on the elevator, this is an
- 1:31:29Speaker 3: argument in Bill's favor where maybe the janitor is in
- 1:31:35Speaker 3: JD's mind, because I think this is the this is
- 1:31:38Speaker 3: the one time where he gets, hey, hey, killer, how
- 1:31:40Speaker 3: you doing after you're very very uh destruct because you
- 1:31:46Speaker 3: feel like you didn't do enough for the patient who
- 1:31:48Speaker 3: just died, right, and you walk onto the elevator and
- 1:31:50Speaker 3: the janitor is there and he's like, hey, killer, and
- 1:31:54Speaker 3: may it sent you even further?
- 1:31:56Speaker 5: Right?
- 1:31:57Speaker 3: And that that too, and then you walk out, See
- 1:32:00Speaker 3: you later, killer.
- 1:32:01Speaker 1: That's true. Christa makes a good point. How would he
- 1:32:03Speaker 1: even know that I lost the patience? He just knows everything.
- 1:32:05Speaker 1: He's all knowing that channel. He's yeah, but but you've
- 1:32:10Speaker 1: already proven that time and time again.
- 1:32:12Speaker 3: Donald. I'm just saying this is one of those moments
- 1:32:14Speaker 3: where this is one of those moments where.
- 1:32:17Speaker 1: Bill doesn't even have defenses anymore. He just yells five
- 1:32:19Speaker 1: to six, seven, eight, right, Christah. I don't know if
- 1:32:23Speaker 1: you know this, because I don't know how much you're
- 1:32:24Speaker 1: listening to this. But Bill yelling five to six seven
- 1:32:27Speaker 1: eight to start our theme song has become a fan
- 1:32:29Speaker 1: favorite joke on my Instagram. Every other comment is just
- 1:32:33Speaker 1: five to six seven eight, which is a shout out
- 1:32:35Speaker 1: to your husband.
- 1:32:36Speaker 2: He wanted me to do that today and I said, no.
- 1:32:39Speaker 1: We made a rule. We made a rule. You're allowed
- 1:32:42Speaker 1: to count and I think he should count in when
- 1:32:44Speaker 1: we're done with the show. We decided. In the world
- 1:32:46Speaker 1: of the podcast, Bill is the only one, because he's
- 1:32:49Speaker 1: the creator of the show, with the power to start
- 1:32:51Speaker 1: the theme song without our permission, right.
- 1:32:54Speaker 3: Donald, Yeah, he's the only one. Like I don't even
- 1:32:57Speaker 3: get the power to do that unless it's for the show.
- 1:32:59Speaker 1: Right and and yes if it's not the Yeah, Bill,
- 1:33:03Speaker 1: Bill has magical powers. You can always start the thing.
- 1:33:05Speaker 5: He's the only one that can do that.
- 1:33:07Speaker 3: That didn't look like a firing squad either, but that
- 1:33:09Speaker 3: joke was hilarious as fuck. Uh okay, I'm okay, I'm okay, okay,
- 1:33:15Speaker 3: I'm okay, I'm okay, I'm okay. And then they catch
- 1:33:18Speaker 3: it the firing squad, you know, the putting the blindfold.
- 1:33:21Speaker 3: It looked like a comedy club. The spotlight on you
- 1:33:24Speaker 3: and everything. And so when you go, I'm okay, that
- 1:33:27Speaker 3: shit had me. I laughed so fucking heart at that. Dude.
- 1:33:29Speaker 3: That was very funny.
- 1:33:30Speaker 5: I'm okay, was.
- 1:33:33Speaker 1: A mistake, because you're right, it looked like a comedy club.
- 1:33:36Speaker 1: You need a different backdrop for the for the I
- 1:33:39Speaker 1: don't know what the correct for firing squad is, but
- 1:33:43Speaker 1: brick wall is not it.
- 1:33:45Speaker 3: No, I don't think so or whatever, but I thought
- 1:33:48Speaker 3: that was hilarious.
- 1:33:49Speaker 1: So then Ken sings and it's very beautiful and and he's.
- 1:33:54Speaker 3: The song of the He's the song of the episode
- 1:33:56Speaker 3: in this.
- 1:33:56Speaker 1: I don't know if that song is a is a
- 1:33:59Speaker 1: made up song. This might be a good question for
- 1:34:01Speaker 1: should ask have Chris to ask Bill? He's not gonna remember,
- 1:34:05Speaker 1: He's just gonna say five to six, seven eight, But
- 1:34:06Speaker 1: should we We want to be fun with Chris to
- 1:34:08Speaker 1: ask Bill a question?
- 1:34:09Speaker 3: Do you have me to?
- 1:34:10Speaker 2: I can intercom him in his office.
- 1:34:12Speaker 1: Oh yeah, let's see if he'll answer in his pheto tear.
- 1:34:15Speaker 2: Here we go, all right, let me see what is
- 1:34:18Speaker 2: it called?
- 1:34:21Speaker 1: Just let me scroll down. My mansion billiards, billiards, indoor pool,
- 1:34:28Speaker 1: outdoor pool.
- 1:34:30Speaker 2: We have a question for you.
- 1:34:31Speaker 1: We're on the podcast. We're on the podcast right now.
- 1:34:34Speaker 2: You're on the podcast.
- 1:34:35Speaker 4: What the song that Ken Jenkins sings at the end
- 1:34:39Speaker 4: of one eighteen Is that a made up song?
- 1:34:42Speaker 2: Or is that a song?
- 1:34:44Speaker 1: A heart?
- 1:34:47Speaker 2: Yeah, we're taping you now. Tusk Gluke's heart Heart.
- 1:34:51Speaker 1: It was a made up song and we were just
- 1:34:56Speaker 1: goofing around with it, and he helped us come up
- 1:34:59Speaker 1: with it. He always just to fit on his guitar
- 1:35:01Speaker 1: and as a Broadway thing, and the second that I
- 1:35:04Speaker 1: asked him to do it, He's like, should be something
- 1:35:08Speaker 1: like this, and they went, hang up.
- 1:35:16Speaker 5: Off.
- 1:35:19Speaker 1: No matter what you do, no matter keep.
- 1:35:23Speaker 5: Keep giving.
- 1:35:24Speaker 1: How many chances can we give him? How many chances?
- 1:35:28Speaker 1: You know what? I feel like, It's like Lucy and
- 1:35:30Speaker 1: Peanuts with the football. I mean, how many chances are
- 1:35:33Speaker 1: we going to give this? Never learn We never learned,
- 1:35:35Speaker 1: We never learned. A great episode, great episode. I did
- 1:35:40Speaker 1: find it funny that Johnny c has just had sex
- 1:35:42Speaker 1: with Jordan twice and then he's looking for boobs on TV.
- 1:35:47Speaker 1: I mean I didn't.
- 1:35:48Speaker 2: Understand that either, like boobs like I didn't understand that I.
- 1:35:53Speaker 1: Was supposed to say that he's lonesome and that he's
- 1:35:55Speaker 1: that he's this booty calls you, but you guys aren't
- 1:35:57Speaker 1: getting back together, and so he you've sabotaged his chances
- 1:36:02Speaker 1: with this woman and now he is just back on
- 1:36:04Speaker 1: his couch alone, trying to look for boobs on TV.
- 1:36:07Speaker 1: But my brain went like, dude, you just had sex
- 1:36:09Speaker 1: twice with Jordan, who's such a babe, and you're like,
- 1:36:12Speaker 1: now you're on your couch looking for boobs on TV.
