- 0:00Speaker 1: All right, guys, here we are. This is our last
- 0:02Speaker 1: break of the day on this Wednesday hump day. Thank
- 0:06Speaker 1: you so much for writing with us every morning. We
- 0:09Speaker 1: appreciate you. Junior. Before we get out of here, you
- 0:11Speaker 1: got a question for Steve.
- 0:13Speaker 2: Yeah, you know you would talk about the midterms and
- 0:16Speaker 2: the importance of us voting in this midterm, but can
- 0:19Speaker 2: you let us younger people know the importance of us
- 0:22Speaker 2: to participate in this process of what we have to
- 0:24Speaker 2: lose and what's that stay for us?
- 0:26Speaker 3: Yeah? You know, it's difficult in these times right here,
- 0:33Speaker 3: because young people seem to take offense to so many things.
- 0:39Speaker 3: And when you try to remind people, because I mean,
- 0:45Speaker 3: these are our closing remarks, right this is where we're
- 0:47Speaker 3: at right now, yes, sir, so okay, so let me
- 0:50Speaker 3: say this. It is difficult when you approach young people
- 0:55Speaker 3: and you go, hey, listen, there are people for who
- 0:58Speaker 3: died for our right to vote. The average young person
- 1:02Speaker 3: don't They don't comprehend that. I talk to them all
- 1:06Speaker 3: the time, man. They don't have a real sense of history.
- 1:10Speaker 3: And if you bring up history, it's this old calamity
- 1:14Speaker 3: that happened some years ago. But see, if you don't
- 1:20Speaker 3: know your history. Ask what's happening right now? History can
- 1:24Speaker 3: repeat itself, and they're doing exactly that. We didn't get
- 1:29Speaker 3: the right to vote without interference, without threats until nineteen
- 1:38Speaker 3: sixty four. I was seven. Sixty four, I was seven.
- 1:43Speaker 3: We didn't get that. And the way we got it,
- 1:46Speaker 3: we didn't burn and loot, We had city ins what
- 1:51Speaker 3: we were beaten by policemen, we had marches where we
- 1:54Speaker 3: were fire holes and a sick dog was on us.
- 1:58Speaker 3: Just an amazing the limit that they have gone to
- 2:03Speaker 3: to prevent us from voting because and now what they're
- 2:07Speaker 3: doing again is they're resinding all of that that was
- 2:11Speaker 3: provided for us in nineteen sixty four, which why was
- 2:15Speaker 3: it even necessary to provide it for us? We should
- 2:19Speaker 3: according to the constitution that your forefathers wrote, we should
- 2:23Speaker 3: have the right to vote, we should have the right
- 2:26Speaker 3: to be counted. But we're in a new administration now. Oh,
- 2:31Speaker 3: these are the creators and makers in our architect of
- 2:33Speaker 3: Projects twenty twenty five. And if you read this thing average,
- 2:37Speaker 3: it's fulfilled with so much hatred and bigotry and taking
- 2:40Speaker 3: it back and going back, and so now look at this.
- 2:44Speaker 3: We got ice, We got abortion laws have been switched.
- 2:49Speaker 3: They want everybody to bow down to the white conservative
- 2:56Speaker 3: Republican movement. And not all whites belong there or fit there,
- 3:02Speaker 3: and they know it. But the ones in power, that's
- 3:07Speaker 3: what they want, the power brokers, And so they don't
- 3:11Speaker 3: want you to vote. If your vote didn't matter, y'all,
- 3:14Speaker 3: why do they keep doing stuff to make sure you
- 3:16Speaker 3: don't vote. Because your vote matters and they know it.
- 3:21Speaker 3: They know it. If we could come together, we could
- 3:25Speaker 3: change anything, if we came together. It's thirty five thirty
- 3:30Speaker 3: six million African Americans in the United States, and all
- 3:33Speaker 3: those are our votes because some of them kids and
- 3:36Speaker 3: stuff like that. So you got to take a lot
- 3:39Speaker 3: of that thirty five thirty seven million away off the
- 3:42Speaker 3: table because they can't vote. They're just young, too young.
- 3:45Speaker 3: But those of us who can vote, I can't even
- 3:48Speaker 3: tell you how important it is. And you have to
- 3:50Speaker 3: pay attention to history. Do you know they just did
- 3:54Speaker 3: this in Alabama yesterday. They redistricted Alabama and took away
- 3:59Speaker 3: the black representation that his job just gone and it
- 4:05Speaker 3: went to the white person who was next door of
- 4:08Speaker 3: that district. They just made that whole black district one
- 4:11Speaker 3: and They put the one with the most votes in
- 4:13Speaker 3: it in power. Who was the white guy? They doing
- 4:15Speaker 3: it everywhere, y'all. Diy do it in Louisiana. They running
- 4:19Speaker 3: rapid with this. They gonna try it in Georgia. They
- 4:21Speaker 3: did it in Texas. They just keep on keeping on.
- 4:25Speaker 3: It's kind of crazy, man. My father, now, my father
- 4:30Speaker 3: was born in the early nineteen hundreds. Do you hear me?
- 4:36Speaker 3: My daddy was born in nineteen fourteen. That's crazy, man.
- 4:43Speaker 3: Do you know that we've already passed twenty fourteen. My
- 4:47Speaker 3: daddy would have been one hundred in twenty fourteen. Now
- 4:51Speaker 3: you add what's that eleven more years and we in
- 4:55Speaker 3: twenty twenty six, twenty twelve, twelve years ago, my dad
- 5:00Speaker 3: would be one hundred and twelve today. He done saw everything.
- 5:03Speaker 3: And my daddy was born in Alabama, in the Deep South,
- 5:08Speaker 3: and we came as far north as West Virginia. I
- 5:11Speaker 3: grew up looking at colored only water fountains, colored only restrooms.
- 5:15Speaker 3: I saw it. I saw this with my own eyes.
- 5:19Speaker 3: But if you bring it up to young people, man,
- 5:20Speaker 3: they have a tendency. God, oh, they don't do that
- 5:22Speaker 3: no more. Yeah, they do, and they finna do it again,
- 5:25Speaker 3: if we don't pay attention, if we don't get registered
- 5:27Speaker 3: to vote, because your vote is powerful. And once again
- 5:30Speaker 3: I'll say this to you. If it wasn't powerful, why
- 5:32Speaker 3: did they keep doing everything and they power to make
- 5:36Speaker 3: sure we can't vote. As long as they can affect
- 5:40Speaker 3: us and get us to sit on the sidelines, they win.
- 5:43Speaker 3: Do not sit on the sidelines. When you sit on
- 5:46Speaker 3: the sidelines something, I ain't going down there because it
- 5:48Speaker 3: don't matter. It matters exactly because when you don't vote
- 5:51Speaker 3: for one of us, it's a vote for one of them.
- 5:54Speaker 3: And let's not be stupid young people. Now, I ain't
- 5:58Speaker 3: mad at you, and I ain't dogging here, but I'm
- 5:59Speaker 3: saying we've got to be a little bit smarter than
- 6:01Speaker 3: this right here. If your vote didn't count, why they
- 6:04Speaker 3: keep trying to take it from you? Think about that.
- 6:06Speaker 3: Let's get registered, Let's get to the post. Those are
- 6:08Speaker 3: my closes from Mark today. Hope you have a great
- 6:11Speaker 3: day today, y'all. I expect God to do great things
