- 0:00[SPEAKER_01]: Hello friend, Michael McCurray here with Bible Tract Echoes.
- 0:03[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you so much for listening today.
- 0:06[SPEAKER_01]: You know, there was a thought yesterday on the broadcast that I realized came and went before I could even kind of form words around it.
- 0:15[SPEAKER_01]: And so I'm going to remind you of it yesterday.
- 0:17[SPEAKER_01]: It was something that Paul Levine said I wrote it down because I wanted to make sure I held on to it for today's broadcast.
- 0:24[SPEAKER_01]: He said this, what a thought this is.
- 0:27[SPEAKER_01]: He said, we are Paul Avine speaking in 1979.
- 0:32[SPEAKER_01]: It's not even the topic of the message, but it just got me.
- 0:35[SPEAKER_01]: He said this, we are only as good a Christians as we are at home.
- 0:42[SPEAKER_01]: Let me pause for you just a moment here.
- 0:44[SPEAKER_01]: I know this isn't the thought, the theme or really of the entirety of this week, but can you just pause for a second and think about this?
- 0:53[SPEAKER_01]: It struck me right between the eyes.
- 0:54[SPEAKER_01]: I hope it does you as well.
- 0:57[SPEAKER_01]: We are only as good
- 1:06[SPEAKER_01]: husbands, what kind of Christian would your wife truly say you are?
- 1:12[SPEAKER_01]: I'm asking a question for myself as well.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not just asking you my listener.
- 1:17[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, what if our children could get this microphone and talk to the 100 plus radio stations that this program plays on?
- 1:27[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I've had my daughters, Emmy and Lucy on this program before, as I stop and think about that.
- 1:34[SPEAKER_01]: If I just gave them unrestricted and unfiltered access and asked them questions about their daddy about me, what would they say?
- 1:44[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's a legitimate question for me to ask you and for you to ask me.
- 1:49[SPEAKER_01]: Friends, let's be very careful about how much chaff we exhibit in our home.
- 1:55[SPEAKER_01]: Those that know us best know us at our worst, don't they?
- 2:00[SPEAKER_01]: Let's be very careful of that.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_01]: Today on the broadcast, Dr. Paul begins with an illustration about the man of God and the Bible.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_01]: First King's chapter 17 is our first introduction to him, but a man named Elijah.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_01]: He's gonna talk about some circumstances that Elijah dealt with in his life that I want you to think about and maybe apply to your life as well.
- 2:27[SPEAKER_01]: Today we're listening to a broadcast from Dr. Paul Avine from all the way back in 1979.
- 2:34[SPEAKER_01]: He was preaching to a large group of teenagers, but I believe what he says will apply to you and me today.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_01]: The title is this.
- 2:45[SPEAKER_01]: Peter in the sifter.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_01]: Peter in the sifter.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_01]: What does that mean?
- 2:51[SPEAKER_01]: Well, you're going to listen to learn about that.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_01]: But the theme, the thought that I want you to grab on to today is this.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_01]: There's no telling.
- 3:00[SPEAKER_01]: what you might do.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_01]: There is no telling what you might do under the right or should I say, the wrong circumstances.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_01]: Listen today, as Dr. Paul Levine preaches to us for just these next few moments, lend him your ears.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you so much for listening.
- 3:20[SPEAKER_01]: Now, Dr. Paul Levine.
- 3:23[SPEAKER_02]: You know, but that will never let's up.
- 3:25[SPEAKER_02]: If you
- 3:30[SPEAKER_02]: Leave it or not, but there's coming a day when you are going to learn like a scared rabbit from a woman.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_02]: He laughed at you.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_02]: You see, isn't that true again?
- 3:41[SPEAKER_02]: Well, yeah, I don't think I heard it right.
- 3:44[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, if you just run it through again.
- 3:46[SPEAKER_02]: The day's going to come when you Elijah, you the brave man Elijah, you are going to run like a scared geck rabbit from one woman.
- 4:00[SPEAKER_02]: Oh sir, I'm not afraid of any women.
- 4:02[SPEAKER_02]: That is, I'm not afraid of any men.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_02]: And he wasn't.
- 4:06[SPEAKER_02]: He chopped the heads of a fool off of 450 of them, as we learned yesterday.
- 4:10[SPEAKER_02]: But after that, after chopping the heads off of 450 prophets of them, then he finds out that the one woman Jezebel is after he's high.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_02]: Did he run, did he run, or did he run?
- 4:24[SPEAKER_02]: He ran, and he couldn't run anymore.
- 4:27[SPEAKER_02]: When he couldn't run anymore, he said, oh no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
- 4:57[SPEAKER_02]: and he did run from a woman.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_02]: I wonder if that tells us something.
- 5:00[SPEAKER_02]: I wonder if that means it if you get one real mean woman after you.
- 5:03[SPEAKER_02]: That's worse than having 450 men.
- 5:09[SPEAKER_02]: That one woman scared him more than those 450 men did.
- 5:13[SPEAKER_02]: The devil, here's what the devil does.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_02]: The devil will attack you not at your weak point but at your strong point and if he can get you failed at your strong
- 5:23[SPEAKER_02]: What was this?
- 5:23[SPEAKER_02]: What was I saying about old Elijah?
- 5:26[SPEAKER_02]: It was bravery.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_02]: It was courage.
- 5:27[SPEAKER_02]: It was manhood.
- 5:28[SPEAKER_02]: It was strengths.
- 5:31[SPEAKER_02]: And the devil got into run from one wolf, but he'd never believed me.
- 5:35[SPEAKER_02]: If you told him ahead of time.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I'm trying to say it.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_02]: No kind of what you might do or I might do if we don't stay in fellowship with God.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_02]: Because the devil's ought to destroy your testimony is ought to destroy mine.
- 5:46[SPEAKER_02]: By the way.
- 5:48[SPEAKER_02]: Do you remember that it says, I believe it's number chapter 12, that Moses was the meekest man on earth, isn't it something to say about a leader, a boss man, a man heading up between two and three million people, and leading them from Egypt, towards the Promised Land, and the Bible says he's a meekest man in the world.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_02]: He must have been a firm man, strong man, but he was meek, he didn't blow his top
- 6:18[SPEAKER_02]: You know, John, we're heading for Moses, and heading for the promised land.
- 6:23[SPEAKER_02]: You need no one's people?
- 6:24[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, we're going to promised land.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_02]: I'll join you next year.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_02]: They're all not very long.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to promised land.
- 6:28[SPEAKER_02]: Got God's plans, going to promised land.
- 6:30[SPEAKER_02]: Moses, you're not going to land.
- 6:33[SPEAKER_02]: What?
- 6:35[SPEAKER_02]: You say, I'm not going to make it to the promised land.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_02]: That's right.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_02]: You are not going to make it to the promised land.
- 6:40[SPEAKER_02]: He's proud, you're leading.
- 6:42[SPEAKER_02]: They're not going to make it easier, except just a few.
- 6:47[SPEAKER_02]: and Joshua, they're going to make it.
- 6:49[SPEAKER_02]: If you're not going to make it, the people aren't going to make it.
- 6:51[SPEAKER_02]: And Moses, you weren't telling me why I'm not going to make it in the Promised Land, and guess what the man says.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_02]: Because you, Moses, are going to blow your top in a bit of anger.
- 7:02[SPEAKER_02]: Ha ha, Moses, Moses would say you, have you ever read the Book of Numbers chapter 12?
- 7:12[SPEAKER_02]: Well, yes, what is the saying in the number chapter 12?
- 7:15[SPEAKER_02]: And Moses would say, in number chapter 12, God says, on the weakest man in the world, what do you mean I'm going to get mad and blow my stack?
- 7:24[SPEAKER_02]: What you're going to do?
- 7:25[SPEAKER_02]: You're going to get mad and blow your stack and because you blow your top, you are not going to get down into the prime of land.
- 7:34[SPEAKER_02]: And Moses says, don't you know, I'm very weak.
- 7:43[SPEAKER_02]: No, they didn't have one.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_02]: I wonder what the people of Israel saw when they saw Moses' glory stacked at that day.
- 7:49[SPEAKER_02]: What are people think when they see Christians getting mad and stumper on like little kids in yelling, hollering, screaming, cuss, and they're like a fool, because they got no control over their temper.
- 7:58[SPEAKER_02]: I've heard people brag about their temper, or if you've got a temper that explodes, and your wife's scared to death of you, and your kids are scared to death of you, because you explode with a violent, ungovernable, unholy, wicked temper don't brag about that, we pull them.
- 8:15[SPEAKER_02]: Here's the meekest man in the world, and how did the devil attack him on a strong point?
- 8:22[SPEAKER_02]: And he got into the blow and he stabbed.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_02]: You remember how it happened, don't you?
- 8:24[SPEAKER_02]: He was...
- 8:25[SPEAKER_02]: He was told to smite the rock and he got water out of it and they did and later on they need water again and the next time God said don't smite the rock the second time because when you smote the rock the first time that was a picture of Jesus Christ being smitten on the cross and the Lord Jesus only one of the dying ones on the cross so don't smite that rock the second time that will be just the same as the Jesus going to be crucified twice.
- 8:47[SPEAKER_02]: So that's time Moses, yes speak to the rock but Moses was
- 8:51[SPEAKER_02]: Angry, he got mad, and in a thinner manner, he just obeyed God, and he smoked the rock.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_02]: They got the water all right, but he didn't get in the canes.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_02]: That's very sad, Benus.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_02]: And Benny and Maine have been destroyed right there.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I don't know anything about you.
- 9:10[SPEAKER_02]: You don't know anything about me.
- 9:11[SPEAKER_02]: You don't know how hot it is.
- 9:13[SPEAKER_02]: I've headed on my feet, and I don't know how hot it is.
- 9:16[SPEAKER_02]: You are with your wife, no one's.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_02]: You get mad.
- 9:22[SPEAKER_02]: The moral would start.
- 9:25[SPEAKER_02]: Our battery is dead.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_02]: When it rains, when you're going to go fishing, something else goes wrong.
- 9:32[SPEAKER_02]: The sea sees the chair.
- 9:35[SPEAKER_02]: Or does sea say, My husband says, God, my husband doesn't blow his stack.
- 9:39[SPEAKER_02]: And by the way, doesn't do a lot of good does.
- 9:41[SPEAKER_02]: Get mad if the weather's not right.
- 9:44[SPEAKER_02]: or the car is the tires flat, what does it do to get man?
- 9:47[SPEAKER_02]: What does it work in the world, what does it do to what can kick your tire?
- 9:53[SPEAKER_02]: Have you ever seen big strong men who ought to have some sense getting mad and kick a car?
- 9:58[SPEAKER_02]: I heard about him in one time, got so mad.
- 10:00[SPEAKER_02]: He lived enough there's a punty.
- 10:01[SPEAKER_02]: He got so mad.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_02]: They tell him there's no one's working right.
- 10:04[SPEAKER_02]: He think the television sent me he declared on the steps.
- 10:08[SPEAKER_02]: Now, you know what?
- 10:09[SPEAKER_02]: That's baby stuff.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_02]: And I don't know if that ends the professing Christian and others might be sure to remove a lot of chaff right there.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_02]: But you see how the devil didn't know.
- 10:18[SPEAKER_02]: I wonder what all those people saw when Moses disobeyed God and hit that rock.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_01]: I've got to ask, friend, I referenced this at the beginning of the program today.
- 10:29[SPEAKER_01]: But how much chaff does your family see in your life?
- 10:35[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's worth considering.
- 10:37[SPEAKER_01]: You know, to harken back to something and that came up yesterday that I want to really double down on for just a moment, I'm going to ask you to pray for us, pray for our ministry.
- 10:48[SPEAKER_01]: Because there's no telling what the devil might want to do to Bible tracks incorporated.
- 10:53[SPEAKER_01]: Do you think the devil is happy about the fact that we print, produce, and distribute millions of gospel tracks and put them around the world every year?
- 11:01[SPEAKER_01]: I highly doubt it.
- 11:02[SPEAKER_01]: You know, we do, here at BTI, we take special precautions.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_01]: You say that stuff, all its old fashioned friend, you do it you want.
- 11:11[SPEAKER_01]: But we have cameras up in our building.
- 11:14[SPEAKER_01]: We have specific rules and regulations about one man and one woman being in our building at the same time.
- 11:21[SPEAKER_01]: You say, oh, what an old fogey that you folks are, they're over there at BTI.
- 11:27[SPEAKER_01]: Friend, I don't want to be sifted.
- 11:29[SPEAKER_01]: I don't want to be unusable.
- 11:32[SPEAKER_01]: I don't want to be let astray by the temptations of the flesh or by the devil.
- 11:37[SPEAKER_01]: Can I tell you that God wants to use you too?
- 11:40[SPEAKER_01]: the devil though he wants to make you unusable.
- 11:43[SPEAKER_01]: Satan, he doesn't need you to be completely dirty and completely wrecked and completely made shipwreck up.
- 11:50[SPEAKER_01]: No, he doesn't care as long as you're not in the center of God's will.
- 11:56[SPEAKER_01]: You may be flirting with God's will.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_01]: You may be on the outskirts of God's will, but as long as you're not in the middle of God's will,
- 12:04[SPEAKER_01]: Satan couldn't care less.
- 12:06[SPEAKER_01]: Now does he want you to do a grieges and grossen and just a massive sin?
- 12:11[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I'm sure he would make him pleased.
- 12:13[SPEAKER_01]: But can I tell you, friend, that Satan desires to have you as sift you as wheat as Jesus told Peter in the book of Luke.
- 12:21[SPEAKER_01]: Join us for the remainder of this week as we continue to dive into and are led into this subject by Dr. Paul.
- 12:29[SPEAKER_01]: I believe what we talk about for the last two days of this broadcast could and would and should be a help to you.
- 12:37[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you so much for listening.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_01]: My prayer is that you have a great day for his glory.
