- 0:00Speaker 1: The Force will be with you always.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Hello and welcome back to another episode of Star Wars Alliance.
- 0:23Speaker 2: Of course, I'm your host, Clay, and with me of course,
- 0:27Speaker 2: like always is Katie. Katie. How are you doing?
- 0:34Speaker 3: You know, We're doing great. I have accomplished so much
- 0:36Speaker 3: at work this week, and I just found out we
- 0:39Speaker 3: got into a daycare.
- 0:42Speaker 2: Is Oh, that is such an awesome feeling. I remember
- 0:47Speaker 2: when we finally got approved for our daycare that we
- 0:50Speaker 2: went to for a short time, because there's so many
- 0:54Speaker 2: different lists and so many different daycares and the lists
- 0:59Speaker 2: are always like a year out and it's just like,
- 1:01Speaker 2: oh my god, so yeah, I think that is amazing.
- 1:06Speaker 2: I have also had a ton to do at work,
- 1:11Speaker 2: of course, I work for a comic book distributor, and
- 1:16Speaker 2: right now it is New York Comic Con, one of
- 1:19Speaker 2: the biggest cons for comics in general, and it's been
- 1:25Speaker 2: a little hectic. I've unfortunately had to and I can't
- 1:30Speaker 2: say much due to the secrecy of the job and
- 1:32Speaker 2: all of that and NDAs and whatnot, but what I say,
- 1:36Speaker 2: I will say this, guys, if you are looking to
- 1:40Speaker 2: get into the comic industry, make sure that you use
- 1:46Speaker 2: a printer that is not going to be in the
- 1:49Speaker 2: way of any hurricane during hurricane season, because my god,
- 1:56Speaker 2: that has wrecked so many books and schedulings for so
- 2:02Speaker 2: many publishers in the past month. So and it'll have
- 2:09Speaker 2: the effect of like.
- 2:13Speaker 3: The strike on the movie industry, where like everything gets delayed.
- 2:16Speaker 3: It's a domino effect.
- 2:18Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a huge domino effect. It gets books delayed
- 2:21Speaker 2: for months and months and months, and then that gets
- 2:25Speaker 2: like delays for publishers and plans for like initiatives that
- 2:29Speaker 2: they're doing with books and stuff like that. So yeah,
- 2:33Speaker 2: I'm learning a lot about this industry. And I almost
- 2:38Speaker 2: got our job was almost affected by the doc strike
- 2:48Speaker 2: that was happening down south.
- 2:51Speaker 3: Which has been delayed.
- 2:52Speaker 2: It's been delayed, so it's still going to happen. I
- 2:56Speaker 2: from what I heard, they got somewhat of what they wanted,
- 3:00Speaker 2: but not everything. So they're like, okay, yeah, whatever, we
- 3:04Speaker 2: will not do it now, but expect for us to
- 3:07Speaker 2: do it because we haven't had our needs met. So
- 3:11Speaker 2: it could still affect my work a little bit, but
- 3:15Speaker 2: we shall see. And I would just say, hey, billion
- 3:18Speaker 2: dollar companies out there, pay your freaking workers, easy enough,
- 3:24Speaker 2: simple as that.
- 3:25Speaker 3: Yeah, Oh. The other thing was my birthday was Sunday,
- 3:29Speaker 3: so we got to go to my favorite restaurant. Yes
- 3:33Speaker 3: this is literally I had the best dessert ever. It
- 3:37Speaker 3: was a cinnamon torta with roasted apples and toasted marshmallow
- 3:41Speaker 3: ice cream.
- 3:42Speaker 2: Oh my god, that sounds amazing.
- 3:45Speaker 3: Matt and I were sad we didn't get too because,
- 3:48Speaker 3: like typically typically what happens is we go and we
- 3:52Speaker 3: get two different desserts and then we each get a
- 3:55Speaker 3: bite and then if we like the other ones better
- 3:57Speaker 3: than we switch, but like or we split, but like
- 4:00Speaker 3: nine times out of ten, we keep our own. We
- 4:02Speaker 3: were very sad we both didn't get one. But yeah,
- 4:08Speaker 3: so the daycare was a great birthday present to myself.
- 4:12Speaker 3: I guess not technically to myself because like another list opened,
- 4:16Speaker 3: but yeah, I had a great birthday.
- 4:17Speaker 2: So awesome, awesome, awesome. So I will say this, we
- 4:22Speaker 2: do not have a lot of news that has come out.
- 4:28Speaker 2: I think more stuff will come out over the next
- 4:31Speaker 2: few days due to see Star Wars publishing over at
- 4:38Speaker 2: New York Comic Con, so expect us to have a
- 4:41Speaker 2: little bit more news next week. But the stuff that
- 4:45Speaker 2: we can say is I want to go ahead and
- 4:49Speaker 2: give a shout out to I still need to listen
- 4:52Speaker 2: to it. It is on my playlist for a work
- 5:00Speaker 2: parkins top shelf as a interview with George Mann in
- 5:06Speaker 2: regards to, of course, Tiers of the Nameless. So I
- 5:12Speaker 2: didn't get the chance to listen to it yet. It
- 5:14Speaker 2: is on the playlist that is ready to be listened
- 5:16Speaker 2: to soon, but I'm excited to listen to that. We
- 5:21Speaker 2: had a great review of that also, by the way, guys,
- 5:26Speaker 2: go listen to that review. I feel like we did
- 5:29Speaker 2: a pretty good job. But I am more interested in
- 5:32Speaker 2: learning about this interview, more so because of what we
- 5:38Speaker 2: learned at the end of Tiers of the Nameless and
- 5:41Speaker 2: the journey that George Mann himself was going on while
- 5:45Speaker 2: writing the book. So I think that'll be a very
- 5:47Speaker 2: interesting interview to listen to. So I will recommend everybody
- 5:51Speaker 2: go do that.
- 5:53Speaker 3: Yes, but speaking of New York Comic Con, y'all, we
- 5:57Speaker 3: are very sad that we were going to miss this.
- 6:00Speaker 3: But if you stop by the Penguin Random House book
- 6:05Speaker 3: World at Booth thirty twenty one this weekend at New
- 6:10Speaker 3: York Comic Con and tell a staff member the secret message.
- 6:16Speaker 3: Mon Mathma requests your aid, you could potentially get a
- 6:21Speaker 3: copy of Reign of the Empire The Mask of Fear
- 6:25Speaker 3: by Alexander Freed. This book is coming out in February,
- 6:29Speaker 3: so this is a good four months early. Now. I
- 6:33Speaker 3: have to say could because they don't have a ton
- 6:37Speaker 3: of copies. Copies are limited. That's the dis climber on there.
- 6:40Speaker 2: I have a limited amount of copies I was planning on.
- 6:48Speaker 2: The initial plan was to get both of us copies
- 6:53Speaker 2: of the Mace Windoo Class Abyss special cover that I
- 7:00Speaker 2: was released, a special edition with the New York Comic
- 7:03Speaker 2: Con exclusive pen and all of that. And I was like, yeah,
- 7:07Speaker 2: you know, people from my work are gonna be there.
- 7:09Speaker 2: It should be easy enough. And then Katie was like,
- 7:13Speaker 2: new priority, or get the book that we already have.
- 7:18Speaker 2: Let's get this book that we haven't even gotten yet.
- 7:20Speaker 2: And I was like, oh, that's so good, Yes, we
- 7:22Speaker 2: should do it. And then literally the day they were
- 7:26Speaker 2: leaving my work told me that their trip got pushed
- 7:32Speaker 2: to not the whole weekend because they just got there
- 7:36Speaker 2: yesterday and they were gonna be there from Wednesday all
- 7:40Speaker 2: the way to Sunday and then get back on Monday. Instead,
- 7:45Speaker 2: they got there yesterday and they're only staying until like
- 7:53Speaker 2: Friday night and leaving first thing Saturday morning.
- 7:56Speaker 3: I think, so, which is good they get home to
- 7:59Speaker 3: their families and stuff.
- 8:00Speaker 2: But also, dang it, yes, if they had extra time,
- 8:04Speaker 2: and that's what was the deal. I told them, Hey,
- 8:08Speaker 2: I know you guys have a large presentation to do
- 8:11Speaker 2: for our work and bah h huh, so when you
- 8:15Speaker 2: have time, run to this booth give them this message
- 8:20Speaker 2: so you can give me my book. Like that was
- 8:23Speaker 2: that was the whole plan. Unfortunately, due to them no
- 8:27Speaker 2: longer having the quote unquote extra time, we will not
- 8:31Speaker 2: be able to be getting this for ourselves. But it
- 8:35Speaker 2: would be really really cool if one of our listeners
- 8:37Speaker 2: were able to grab one and actually like, no, I please,
- 8:42Speaker 2: if you were listening to this and you get a
- 8:45Speaker 2: copy because of our podcast, go take a picture with
- 8:48Speaker 2: the Bluth and then give us a shout out, like
- 8:50Speaker 2: tell us, hey, I learned about this because of Star
- 8:53Speaker 2: Wars Alliance. Just so, like, I think that would be
- 8:56Speaker 2: like the coolest thing, like yeah, so yeah, uh, we
- 9:02Speaker 2: are excited to get our hands on this book when
- 9:05Speaker 2: it finally does come out. We've talked about how we
- 9:09Speaker 2: think that This is going to be a very intense trilogy,
- 9:13Speaker 2: very politically driven trilogy. And I will say this, due
- 9:18Speaker 2: to the climate of actual real life politics, world politics,
- 9:26Speaker 2: I think this is might actually hit close to home
- 9:29Speaker 2: more than people think.
- 9:31Speaker 3: For sure. It's it, It's it's gonna be interesting. It's
- 9:38Speaker 3: gonna be interesting.
- 9:39Speaker 2: I think it's gonna be very very interesting. But with that,
- 9:43Speaker 2: I think the only other thing we did get a
- 9:48Speaker 2: full summary from the High Republic Tempest Breaker has been revealed.
- 9:55Speaker 2: I'm not gonna go ahead and sit down and read
- 9:57Speaker 2: the entire summary. Some of the key points here. Lorna
- 10:02Speaker 2: d returns to the forefront and is wanted by both
- 10:05Speaker 2: the Jedi and the Nighthill. Of course, it wouldn't be
- 10:09Speaker 2: Lorna D if she wasn't you know. Lorna joins with
- 10:14Speaker 2: the Republic to fight back against the Blight, and she
- 10:18Speaker 2: has a revenge quest against Marcion Row. This is gonna
- 10:25Speaker 2: be interesting. I'm very interested in this. I think they
- 10:28Speaker 2: did an amazing job with Tempest Runner with her story.
- 10:34Speaker 2: It is quite possibly one of my favorite stories of
- 10:37Speaker 2: the first phase. And here it says here wanted by
- 10:42Speaker 2: the Jedi and the night Hill, but then joining the Republic.
- 10:48Speaker 2: That's gonna be because we know with the first book
- 10:52Speaker 2: of Tempest Runner that she did end up having a
- 10:57Speaker 2: small moment of like not being the bad guy. You know,
- 11:02Speaker 2: she was kind of the anti hero of that prison
- 11:07Speaker 2: break and all of that stuff, right, So I think
- 11:12Speaker 2: it is within her nature due to how she was
- 11:15Speaker 2: also raised, that that's going to happen. I wonder if
- 11:21Speaker 2: her past will actually play a part in her joining
- 11:24Speaker 2: the Republic. Yeah, and if, like the if the Republic
- 11:30Speaker 2: convinces her to do so by bringing up her past.
- 11:33Speaker 2: So I think that'll be very very interesting.
- 11:36Speaker 3: Yeah, and I'm curious to see if the Yacomb child
- 11:39Speaker 3: who was in the High Republic Volume one will traverse
- 11:44Speaker 3: into this audio drama ya, So I want to see
- 11:48Speaker 3: how that plays out if you have Marvel Unlimited Issue
- 11:53Speaker 3: through Issue nine is currently up on Marvel Unlimited for
- 11:58Speaker 3: the Higher Public comics, so I am up to date
- 12:00Speaker 3: on that. So that's all I'm gonna say. But we're
- 12:04Speaker 3: gonna be talking the full review for that volume two
- 12:08Speaker 3: next month when the trade comes out, so that's what
- 12:12Speaker 3: you can expect. But I still I'm waiting to see
- 12:16Speaker 3: what more comes from that because I feel like, we're
- 12:18Speaker 3: getting good Learna in the comics, and I need to
- 12:21Speaker 3: see that traverse. I know they have the same writer,
- 12:24Speaker 3: but it needs to traverse the two mediums. All right, y'all,
- 12:29Speaker 3: we are gonna hit our first ad break and we
- 12:31Speaker 3: will be right back in three two one. The other
- 12:36Speaker 3: bit of news that we have is there is a
- 12:42Speaker 3: tenth anniversary comic one shot being released on January twenty ninth,
- 12:51Speaker 3: to celebrate the tenth anniversary of Star Wars comics return
- 12:54Speaker 3: to Marvel. The comic is entitled a New Legacy and
- 13:00Speaker 3: will feature work by Charles Soul, Jason Aaron Kirian Gillen,
- 13:06Speaker 3: Ramon Rosannas, Leonard Kirk, and Salva Aspen. So we've got
- 13:12Speaker 3: Dodger Afra, We've got the Bounty Hunters, We've got oh
- 13:18Speaker 3: my gosh, Black Black Chrisantin. So it should be very interesting.
- 13:24Speaker 3: I'm curious to see where they're gonna get with that.
- 13:26Speaker 3: So that is gonna be out January twenty ninth, and
- 13:29Speaker 3: then really I think the last bit. Oh so the
- 13:33Speaker 3: Star Wars publishing panels. So there's two panels at New
- 13:36Speaker 3: York Comic Con this weekend. One is Friday, October eighteenth,
- 13:42Speaker 3: and it is three thirty two, four thirty PM. I
- 13:49Speaker 3: do not know who, if anybody's going to be live
- 13:52Speaker 3: tweeting it. I'm assuming somebody is, but that's what you
- 13:56Speaker 3: can expect there. And that's specifically Star Wars Publishing. And
- 13:59Speaker 3: then the next one is Saturday, October nineteenth from one
- 14:02Speaker 3: to two forty five, and that is Star Wars Comics
- 14:05Speaker 3: and Dark Horse with Lucas and Lucasfilm Publishing. So and
- 14:12Speaker 3: I'm interested to see about the publishing panel specifically because
- 14:17Speaker 3: I saw that Lydia Kang is going to be present
- 14:20Speaker 3: at the panel.
- 14:21Speaker 2: So I think this will probably be the debut of
- 14:25Speaker 2: the full title of quite possibly because I I know
- 14:32Speaker 2: that Lydia didn't write right. Who is the writer for
- 14:37Speaker 2: the other Acolyte book?
- 14:39Speaker 3: So she wrote.
- 14:41Speaker 2: Cataclysm and she of that phase, by the way, I
- 14:47Speaker 2: want to say.
- 14:48Speaker 3: And she's writing the short stories that are going out
- 14:51Speaker 3: in Star Wars Insider from Phase three, so she's not
- 14:54Speaker 3: writing anything else currently. So Tessa Gratton and Justina Ireland
- 14:58Speaker 3: are writing the two act lites.
- 15:00Speaker 2: That's right, That's right. Do we get a surprise announcement
- 15:07Speaker 2: for Lydia?
- 15:09Speaker 3: I don't know about this phase but is she writing
- 15:15Speaker 3: something else?
- 15:17Speaker 2: I okay, So I would totally be down for her
- 15:20Speaker 2: writing something outside of the High Republic. Inside the High Republic,
- 15:28Speaker 2: that's totally fine too. But we know, just because of
- 15:32Speaker 2: the way they've done this initiative, that that would be
- 15:36Speaker 2: included in Phase three because this is the quote unquote
- 15:40Speaker 2: ending of the High Republic initiative quote unquote. So with
- 15:47Speaker 2: that being said, I would totally be down for her
- 15:53Speaker 2: writing anything, because, like I said, she did write our
- 15:58Speaker 2: favorite book of Phase two. But I would also be
- 16:04Speaker 2: down with like a like, hey, made you look, there's
- 16:08Speaker 2: actually one more book in the Phase three is Lydia King.
- 16:12Speaker 2: And I get like the only reason why I say
- 16:14Speaker 2: that is because of like I know that we kind
- 16:21Speaker 2: of have to just leave these books where they are
- 16:24Speaker 2: in the timeline. That's just how these things go. But
- 16:28Speaker 2: like knowing that Axel was left where he was and
- 16:38Speaker 2: his great great granddaughter was just featured in a book
- 16:44Speaker 2: and we're just gonna sidestep it, like uh, yeah, okay, whatever,
- 16:49Speaker 2: Like that irks me a little bit that it's just like, Okay,
- 16:53Speaker 2: why Jesus, why do it?
- 16:55Speaker 3: Well? Because it's it's the reason they had Phase two
- 16:58Speaker 3: so you could get catches. Yeah, yeahs in phase three.
- 17:02Speaker 3: But what if it's not a book, what if it's
- 17:06Speaker 3: another audio drama.
- 17:10Speaker 2: I would be down for the for an audio drama. Which, also,
- 17:14Speaker 2: by the way, guys, due to our scheduling and the
- 17:20Speaker 2: accidental lack thereof, we are reviewing a comic that we
- 17:27Speaker 2: weren't initially planning to review this soon. But Katie and
- 17:34Speaker 2: I want to acknowledge the elephant in the room. We
- 17:37Speaker 2: do know in fact about the audio drama that just
- 17:41Speaker 2: dropped on Audible like two weeks ago. We will be
- 17:45Speaker 2: getting to that. So I just wanted to mention that
- 17:48Speaker 2: since you just now mentioned audiobooks, I would be okay
- 17:52Speaker 2: with Kang writing an audiobook. I think that it would
- 17:55Speaker 2: be very, very fun, and I think it's very easily
- 17:58Speaker 2: accessible for those who do have Audible. You know, I'm
- 18:02Speaker 2: not usually one to pimp out subscription services, but for
- 18:07Speaker 2: us and the amount of books that we read every
- 18:09Speaker 2: single year, like it's it's saved to be so much money, guys,
- 18:14Speaker 2: Oh my god, And yes I have. I have made
- 18:20Speaker 2: the dummy mistakes sometimes of being like, uh, do I
- 18:23Speaker 2: need to wait for one credit or I could just
- 18:25Speaker 2: buy three on this special right now, Boom, twenty bucks
- 18:28Speaker 2: spent and then have three credits. Yeah, I'm bad with money, guys,
- 18:32Speaker 2: don't listen to me.
- 18:35Speaker 3: You can also use your local library.
- 18:38Speaker 2: You can also use your local library.
- 18:40Speaker 3: But guess what this new one is not?
- 18:45Speaker 2: My local library doesn't have the Rise and Fall to
- 18:48Speaker 2: the Galactic Empire. And I am so mad I have
- 18:54Speaker 2: I think I have to technically request it and then
- 18:56Speaker 2: they go through I guess it would be uh, Penguin
- 19:02Speaker 2: Random House or or who's the publisher on that?
- 19:08Speaker 3: I think it's a d K is it?
- 19:10Speaker 2: K uh? Wait DK like drawn and quarterly.
- 19:16Speaker 3: Kay, let me scroll back to my bookshelf over here
- 19:23Speaker 3: that has it on.
- 19:26Speaker 2: Because hold on, DK not d Q DKA Sorry DK
- 19:41Speaker 2: is DK media.
- 19:48Speaker 3: While you look at that?
- 19:50Speaker 2: Okay, so so it is. It is a part of
- 19:52Speaker 2: Penguin Rangom Mouse. They weren't conjunctionally with Ping and Random House. Okay.
- 19:57Speaker 2: I was like, I knew that somehow I knew that.
- 20:00Speaker 2: See what you learn working through a publisher. But yeah,
- 20:05Speaker 2: it's it's such a good idea to be able to
- 20:10Speaker 2: have access to something like an audible or like we said,
- 20:17Speaker 2: library cards and what what are the two apps it
- 20:22Speaker 2: is hoop Yeah, Hoopla and Libby because I know a
- 20:31Speaker 2: lot of us have jobs that it's super busy and
- 20:33Speaker 2: it's hard to just wander into a library nowadays. Uh,
- 20:37Speaker 2: So it's very convenient just to be able to request
- 20:40Speaker 2: books on your app get them sent to you. Uh.
- 20:44Speaker 2: And the same thing for audiobooks. Some audiobooks go through
- 20:49Speaker 2: the library app as well. So guys, look into it.
- 20:53Speaker 2: It'll it'll save you a lot of money. Uh and
- 20:56Speaker 2: of course, uh give you a lot of fun doing it.
- 21:00Speaker 3: We're gonna go into our second ad break and we'll
- 21:04Speaker 3: be right back.
- 21:05Speaker 2: But yeah, I think it's very fun that we are
- 21:10Speaker 2: going to get a huge announcement here and see. This
- 21:15Speaker 2: is how I know that Katie has changed my life forever.
- 21:20Speaker 2: I see Lucasfilm publishing Star Wars stories from Galaxy Far
- 21:24Speaker 2: Far Away, and then I see Star Wars comics with
- 21:27Speaker 2: Dark Horse and Lucasfilm Publishing, and I'm gravitating more towards
- 21:30Speaker 2: the Lucasfilm Publishing and not the comics. Like this is
- 21:34Speaker 2: how I know Katie has now made me even more
- 21:39Speaker 2: of a nerd than I possibly thought I could be.
- 21:42Speaker 3: You're welcome the last bit of news that we have
- 21:49Speaker 3: left guys. Well, okay, there's two bits. So if you
- 21:55Speaker 3: go to the Industrial Light and Magic website, you can
- 21:59Speaker 3: act look at the concept art for the Acolyte, which
- 22:04Speaker 3: includes for Nestra with her lightwhip.
- 22:08Speaker 2: I don't know if I like that concept art why
- 22:14Speaker 2: it looks okay? So for one, I think I need
- 22:19Speaker 2: to look at it via a computer screen because I
- 22:23Speaker 2: was looking at it its cut off, right, It's cut off? Yes,
- 22:28Speaker 2: So there's that. Okay.
- 22:31Speaker 3: So here's the concept art right.
- 22:32Speaker 2: Here looking through.
- 22:36Speaker 3: So this looks like what they had designed for the
- 22:42Speaker 3: which is on the mountain, like the ceremony in these
- 22:46Speaker 3: images and kind of mm hmmm because there's the twins
- 22:51Speaker 3: right there, So this looks like what they originally designed
- 22:53Speaker 3: for the ceremony.
- 22:56Speaker 2: I like the concept a little bit more than I
- 22:59Speaker 2: do the real thing, and I think more so because
- 23:03Speaker 2: there's just more color to it, like, and I understand, yeah,
- 23:08Speaker 2: the con like the actual like visual that they went
- 23:12Speaker 2: with works very well with the tone that they were
- 23:16Speaker 2: trying to give off comparatively to what the concept art was.
- 23:20Speaker 2: So I totally understand why the shift happened. But I
- 23:23Speaker 2: really like the visual of the concept.
- 23:26Speaker 3: Yeah, I do too. And look, you've got to grow
- 23:28Speaker 3: to him here. How long has it been since we've
- 23:30Speaker 3: seen it to grow to screen? Yes, so there's all that.
- 23:38Speaker 3: There's the twins, I'm assuming right like this is like
- 23:42Speaker 3: right before they go to the ascension. And I love
- 23:45Speaker 3: the little padme amidala head hairdoo that one of the
- 23:50Speaker 3: twins is rocking here. Yes, so there is a lightstaber
- 23:58Speaker 3: being cut in apped. I don't know where this supposed
- 24:00Speaker 3: to go.
- 24:03Speaker 2: I think this was the bleeding of the.
- 24:10Speaker 3: That's the kind of crystal shattering. It's not changing color,
- 24:14Speaker 3: that's true. And I don't remember any lightsabers being cut
- 24:19Speaker 3: in half.
- 24:21Speaker 2: I don't remember any lightsabers being cut in half. But
- 24:24Speaker 2: also green lightsaber. You have to look at green lightsaber.
- 24:30Speaker 2: The only one that showed a green lightsaber Jackie, oh
- 24:36Speaker 2: you know what, Yeah, she did have it. I was
- 24:38Speaker 2: gonna say Master and Dara. Yeah, and that's true.
- 24:44Speaker 3: That could definitely be a Dara.
- 24:46Speaker 2: Master and Dara. Then it was oh shoot, uh Wookie,
- 24:54Speaker 2: Master kal Naka, Yeah, Master kal Naka and Jackie. Those
- 25:00Speaker 2: were the three individuals with green lightsabers. I would have
- 25:05Speaker 2: to go back to see the design of the hilt
- 25:09Speaker 2: for each one.
- 25:10Speaker 3: I want to say this is a Dara.
- 25:12Speaker 2: It might be in Dara's and if that's the case,
- 25:16Speaker 2: I could very much see it as Okay, what is
- 25:19Speaker 2: this because this.
- 25:21Speaker 3: I think this is supposed to be Mandalorian okay acolyte.
- 25:27Speaker 2: And that's why I was like, why is this in here?
- 25:33Speaker 3: Or maybe maybe this is supposed to be like originally
- 25:36Speaker 3: they did like a cortosis best scar blade because the
- 25:41Speaker 3: reason cortosis isn't typically at least this is the way
- 25:46Speaker 3: it was in Legends. Cortosis is not typically made into
- 25:49Speaker 3: a blade in the Legends war because it's a soft material,
- 25:54Speaker 3: so it has to be fused with other ones. And
- 25:57Speaker 3: so that's why a helmets more likely, because a helmet
- 26:02Speaker 3: you don't need as much of a crisp structure to it. So, Okay,
- 26:09Speaker 3: this is still cut off and I can't do on this.
- 26:12Speaker 2: I'm looking at it now with my computer and it
- 26:15Speaker 2: is still cut off. Also, so I don't know who
- 26:19Speaker 2: designed this website and this photo viewer. It's not great,
- 26:26Speaker 2: No I l I can help. I do not like
- 26:33Speaker 2: the like tendrils, ten drools, electricity. I think just the
- 26:43Speaker 2: way that it has been in concept on all the
- 26:47Speaker 2: covers that show it on the High Republic.
- 26:50Speaker 3: It's very stationary. It doesn't have any extra pieces going
- 26:55Speaker 3: off of it, like a whip.
- 26:56Speaker 2: And I think that this is more so for the
- 26:59Speaker 2: wow and the bizazz of it being a live action, right,
- 27:07Speaker 2: but also look at for Nestra's actual lightsaber hilt. It
- 27:14Speaker 2: looks massive, Like.
- 27:20Speaker 3: I don't think so, because I mean she's holding the
- 27:23Speaker 3: very bottom of it, so she gets more motion with
- 27:25Speaker 3: the whip.
- 27:27Speaker 2: Yeah, more so with the whip. But it just looks better.
- 27:29Speaker 2: And so I'm like, ah, and I think I think
- 27:32Speaker 2: I'm just a snob of like now knowing like like
- 27:39Speaker 2: looking at a proper lightsaber and being like, Okay, this
- 27:41Speaker 2: is what it should look like. And this almost just
- 27:44Speaker 2: look looks like it's like cartoonish or comical, you know.
- 27:47Speaker 3: Right, But also like the top of the hilt could
- 27:50Speaker 3: be at the very top, like it could be just
- 27:53Speaker 3: out of you, so it may not be super long. Yeah,
- 27:57Speaker 3: so it looks like this is like Manny's original uniform.
- 28:08Speaker 2: Yeah, it does look like this is like the battle
- 28:11Speaker 2: damaged suits that he had or cloak or whatever robe
- 28:20Speaker 2: you want to use as far as the terminology goes.
- 28:23Speaker 2: Uh when they are fighting. Uh yeah, on you know
- 28:27Speaker 2: in that episode five and six.
- 28:31Speaker 3: Yeah, we've got the Jedi temple spires, the Jedi temple
- 28:37Speaker 3: itself where we've got some Jedi kind of walking through
- 28:40Speaker 3: having conversations.
- 28:42Speaker 2: Uh.
- 28:43Speaker 3: This looks like the prison where maybe like a manless
- 28:46Speaker 3: character is supposed to be here and the Jedi are
- 28:49Speaker 3: interrogating her from there.
- 28:51Speaker 2: M hm.
- 28:54Speaker 3: The meeting room that Vernestra kind of likes to hide
- 28:57Speaker 3: out in. Oh my god, these are the moth bug things.
- 29:03Speaker 2: Yeah, like this and they actually like show you like
- 29:07Speaker 2: how big they are comparatively people on the next page.
- 29:12Speaker 3: Oh my gosh.
- 29:14Speaker 2: Yeah, think's massive. It's huge, Like they did not look
- 29:20Speaker 2: that big when and of course it's the lighting and
- 29:24Speaker 2: all of this stuff, right, and we were seeing them
- 29:28Speaker 2: being just like slaughtered in half and whatnot. But it
- 29:32Speaker 2: took like two or three of them only to uh
- 29:37Speaker 2: lift off Manny's character. Ye. So uh and then we
- 29:43Speaker 2: get a better kind of more tonally what the actual
- 29:50Speaker 2: ceremony should look like.
- 29:53Speaker 3: Uh, I guess the the landscape of the fort that
- 29:59Speaker 3: the which is are in. Uh yeah, here's a more
- 30:03Speaker 3: updated artwork piece. So it probably is like the staged
- 30:08Speaker 3: look we got that looks like where Indara is in
- 30:15Speaker 3: the first episode the Jedi ship. Could this be the
- 30:23Speaker 3: design for the Strangers Island home.
- 30:30Speaker 2: I think that's what that is. Yeah, just with the
- 30:34Speaker 2: way the rock formations are, uh, the kind of cavern
- 30:39Speaker 2: we seep down here, I think, yeah, it's supposed to
- 30:42Speaker 2: be what that is? Yeah, gotcha?
- 30:45Speaker 3: All right, Well that's it from there. And so then
- 30:49Speaker 3: now the last piece of news that we have is
- 30:54Speaker 3: so star Wars dot Com announced yesterday that Mad's michels
- 31:00Speaker 3: And is officially a guest at Star Wars Celebration. And
- 31:02Speaker 3: we're about to jump into our third ad y'all. We
- 31:06Speaker 3: promise we'll be right back, we promise. Japan, twenty twenty five.
- 31:10Speaker 3: I was reading that as January, and I was like,
- 31:12Speaker 3: Star Wars Celebration is never in January, but sorry, And
- 31:17Speaker 3: so in their post for celebrity guests confirmed for Star
- 31:23Speaker 3: Wars Celebration Japan twenty twenty five, I just want to
- 31:26Speaker 3: mention this because this is this is by Star Wars
- 31:29Speaker 3: dot Com team. This does not have a specific author,
- 31:33Speaker 3: but in Manny's part, they have not updated this because
- 31:38Speaker 3: I believe this was the original statement that they had
- 31:41Speaker 3: made when Manny was announced for Star Wars Celebration Japan.
- 31:46Speaker 3: They said many just sent her from the act like
- 31:48Speaker 3: making his second Star Wars Celebration appearance, fresh off the
- 31:52Speaker 3: success of the Disney Plus series It's aw his dark
- 31:54Speaker 3: side character take on the Jedda of the High Republic.
- 31:59Speaker 2: So I, for one, I want this. I just recently,
- 32:12Speaker 2: at the age of thirty two, got my first office job,
- 32:17Speaker 2: my first quote unquote big boy job as some of
- 32:20Speaker 2: the boomers would call it. And I am constantly going
- 32:27Speaker 2: to my superior and saying, Hey, I need you to
- 32:32Speaker 2: proofread this because I don't know how to send a
- 32:37Speaker 2: professional email. Now. My wife would say, oh, just use
- 32:42Speaker 2: chat GP, jet Chat GBT, and I refuse to do it.
- 32:46Speaker 2: I refuse to do it because you. And more so,
- 32:51Speaker 2: like as these months have gone by, like I can
- 32:55Speaker 2: be a little relaxed with some of the people that
- 32:57Speaker 2: I'm constantly emailing with, And that's totally fine in the
- 33:02Speaker 2: workspace that I'm currently in. Uh, but stuff like this,
- 33:08Speaker 2: my other boss is like, hey, he is like a
- 33:13Speaker 2: hawk when it comes to stuff that I'm putting on
- 33:16Speaker 2: our website. And if there's something that is wrong. He
- 33:21Speaker 2: lets me know, Hey, that's wrong.
- 33:25Speaker 3: That's what a good editing team it's for.
- 33:28Speaker 2: Exactly here, we cancel this show because it's doing poorly,
- 33:38Speaker 2: because it was too expensive, because of all of the above,
- 33:44Speaker 2: we were adhering to Nazis and we don't want to
- 33:47Speaker 2: say it cough cough. But then they go around and say, hey,
- 33:56Speaker 2: thrash off the success of this.
- 34:00Speaker 3: And I know it's from when Manny was originally announced, but.
- 34:06Speaker 2: But here's here's the worst case scenario of copy paste
- 34:11Speaker 2: in my opinion, because that's what I feel like happened,
- 34:17Speaker 2: was they copy pasted it from the last time he
- 34:20Speaker 2: was going to a convention, right before the cancelation, and
- 34:25Speaker 2: then they didn't even bad any when they copy pasted
- 34:28Speaker 2: it into this announcement.
- 34:30Speaker 3: Well, it's as updated. So I think this was originally
- 34:33Speaker 3: posted when Alan Tudeck, Manny and Daniel Logan were announced,
- 34:39Speaker 3: and then they just added Matts Michelson to it. So
- 34:44Speaker 3: that brings us to the question the Star Wars Halochron posted.
- 34:49Speaker 3: Could this mean that we see Galen Urso in and
- 34:53Speaker 3: or seasoned it.
- 34:56Speaker 2: I think it does.
- 34:58Speaker 3: I think it does too.
- 35:00Speaker 2: I genuinely think it does, and I think it does
- 35:05Speaker 2: because we just saw the other Michelson in Ahsoka, like
- 35:15Speaker 2: it's and I, and we're seeing all of these other established,
- 35:22Speaker 2: you know, actors jumping onto these shows, and like, I
- 35:28Speaker 2: will always point back to the conversation that I had
- 35:35Speaker 2: with Oh, shoot, what was his name? Played Slade in
- 35:39Speaker 2: the CW.
- 35:42Speaker 3: Oh my gosh, I know who you're talking about.
- 35:47Speaker 2: His his his hold on he Oh my god, come on, Uh,
- 36:03Speaker 2: come on, come on, come on, he's right here. Man
- 36:07Speaker 2: who Bennett Yes at a convention. Uh. And it was
- 36:14Speaker 2: during a Q and A and I kind of like,
- 36:20Speaker 2: very jokingly because everybody was talking about Spartacus. I was like,
- 36:23Speaker 2: I don't know about Spartacus, but I want to ask
- 36:25Speaker 2: these questions about Era and he basically least said, hey, Nerd,
- 36:30Speaker 2: calm down, Spartacus is what made me famous. And he
- 36:35Speaker 2: was like, Yeah, I could definitely go on screen as Destro,
- 36:43Speaker 2: you know, on a movie, but I don't know if
- 36:46Speaker 2: I would want to because you're only going to see
- 36:49Speaker 2: me for ten fifteen minutes of an hour and a
- 36:53Speaker 2: half movie two hour movie, comparatively to you know, hours
- 36:59Speaker 2: an hours and hours of a TV show that goes
- 37:03Speaker 2: for season and season and season. Now. I understand that
- 37:07Speaker 2: this is the final season of and Or, but due
- 37:14Speaker 2: to the amount of money that has been played with
- 37:19Speaker 2: in TV, I think it would be very silly for
- 37:22Speaker 2: any actor to pass up a free check.
- 37:26Speaker 3: Basically, yeah, and considering, oh my gosh, that's not it.
- 37:33Speaker 3: Oh my gosh, what is his name? It's bro Okay,
- 37:36Speaker 3: I'm just gonna look up rug one.
- 37:39Speaker 2: Uh the director orson.
- 37:41Speaker 3: Critic Ben Mendelssohn. For some reason, I had Ben Gleeson
- 37:46Speaker 3: in my head.
- 37:47Speaker 2: Oh yeah, No, Mendelssohn is also returning.
- 37:51Speaker 3: Yeah, Mendelsohn is returning, So it makes complete sense to
- 37:55Speaker 3: have Michelson in return.
- 37:57Speaker 2: So will we Oh, here's a question, here's a fun question. Actually,
- 38:06Speaker 2: will we see the actual like plan that Michelson's character
- 38:18Speaker 2: or so created for the Death Star and Or? Will
- 38:29Speaker 2: we see the recreation of the scene in Rogue one
- 38:39Speaker 2: where he is basically kidnapped or taken taken by the Empire.
- 38:46Speaker 3: So it's too late in the process for that to
- 38:50Speaker 3: happen in my opinion, because this is so this is
- 38:56Speaker 3: zero no, no, yes, it is because they said the
- 38:59Speaker 3: last episode we're going to see Cassie and get on
- 39:02Speaker 3: the ship to go to the planet to meet the
- 39:04Speaker 3: informant who's going to tell them about Galen.
- 39:08Speaker 2: Oh, okay, yeah, you're so.
- 39:10Speaker 3: That's zero A B Y is three episodes one, A
- 39:14Speaker 3: B Y is three episodes two A B Y three
- 39:17Speaker 3: A B Y.
- 39:18Speaker 2: Yeah, you're right, you're right. The timeline of this next
- 39:22Speaker 2: season is going to be a little too wonky to
- 39:25Speaker 2: make it.
- 39:25Speaker 3: Now. You could see you could potentially see Saw because
- 39:31Speaker 3: Saw dumps gin Orso when she's fifteen or sixteen and
- 39:40Speaker 3: makes her fin for her own.
- 39:42Speaker 2: Because yeah, we uh reviewed that book Rebel Rising, Rebel Rising.
- 39:51Speaker 2: That'll be interesting. Actually if we get a younger gen
- 39:55Speaker 2: Urso in h now from correct me if I'm wrong,
- 40:08Speaker 2: But Cassian never worked with did Cassian work with uh
- 40:16Speaker 2: Saw at all previously? No?
- 40:20Speaker 3: Right, no, But Saul makes an appearance in and Or
- 40:26Speaker 3: season one.
- 40:29Speaker 2: Oh that's true. Yeah he does. Yeah, that's right. So God,
- 40:35Speaker 2: I need to watch that season again, Jesus.
- 40:37Speaker 3: We will do a retro before season two comes out,
- 40:39Speaker 3: don't worry, especially because you didn't get to review the
- 40:45Speaker 3: first couple of episodes.
- 40:47Speaker 2: So yeah, that's right, that's right, I didn't. So I
- 40:50Speaker 2: think that it'll be a lot of fun just to
- 40:54Speaker 2: see that happen. And I just I love Michelson as
- 40:59Speaker 2: an actor when he's really able to perform. I know
- 41:05Speaker 2: a lot of people always meme about his MCU appearance
- 41:09Speaker 2: like that is not his best guys, like that was
- 41:13Speaker 2: just a paycheck to him, Like with with Mads and
- 41:20Speaker 2: Ben on screen again, Oh, it's gonna be so good.
- 41:23Speaker 2: Every single scene they're gonna just chew up and it's
- 41:27Speaker 2: gonna be so good. Yeah, I'm I'm I'm really excited
- 41:31Speaker 2: about this season two.
- 41:33Speaker 3: For sure. All right, so shall we dive into the
- 41:38Speaker 3: topic that was decided last night?
- 41:41Speaker 2: Yes, it was decided last night because, like I said, uh,
- 41:46Speaker 2: we uh had a lot of hiccups last week, and
- 41:51Speaker 2: and I think more so, I think we were both
- 41:54Speaker 2: tied last week. Exhausted. We were exhausted and completely sides set.
- 42:01Speaker 2: The fact that we usually meet up at the end
- 42:03Speaker 2: of every show to talk about the next week and
- 42:05Speaker 2: future plans, and we were just good night and we
- 42:10Speaker 2: were out. So yeah, we're gonna be talking about Star
- 42:16Speaker 2: Wars Mace Windle Volume one. Of course, this is going
- 42:19Speaker 2: to be the twenty twenty four volume one.
- 42:24Speaker 3: The mini run specifically, so this one does not have
- 42:27Speaker 3: a continuation. It's just a mini series.
- 42:31Speaker 2: Yes, it is a mini series that I believe only
- 42:34Speaker 2: consisted of four issues.
- 42:37Speaker 3: If I'm correct.
- 42:39Speaker 2: Yeah. Uh, I am going to say it right off
- 42:44Speaker 2: the bat, and this.
- 42:46Speaker 3: Should be our final ad break. So y'all thanks for
- 42:50Speaker 3: bearing with us. We appreciate y'all. We'll be right back.
- 42:54Speaker 2: I was not in love with the writing. I'm with
- 43:00Speaker 2: the story, and I was not a big fan of
- 43:05Speaker 2: the inconsistency in art.
- 43:08Speaker 3: See, we're all in the same boat. I actually enjoyed
- 43:12Speaker 3: the writing and thought the story was decent, which I
- 43:18Speaker 3: think is a first, because didn't he write the Han
- 43:21Speaker 3: solo comic last year?
- 43:25Speaker 2: Uh, Mark Berne Narden Bernardine, I thought Bernadine Bernardin. Yeah,
- 43:35Speaker 2: one of one of these two.
- 43:38Speaker 3: I think he wrote.
- 43:40Speaker 2: My brain is fried from work, guys, I do it.
- 43:44Speaker 3: Okay, I'm gonna find it and confirm, but I'm pretty
- 43:47Speaker 3: sure he wrote that one. And I hated that one.
- 43:49Speaker 2: So it wasn't It wasn't the best and improvement, yes, uh,
- 43:55Speaker 2: definitely an improvement if that was so. But just to
- 44:00Speaker 2: give a gist of what this overall story is about.
- 44:09Speaker 3: He did not write it. It's Han solo in the
- 44:12Speaker 3: Crystal Run, and Googenheim wrote that one.
- 44:17Speaker 2: Oh that's right, yes, yes, So this is.
- 44:20Speaker 3: So not a change from the last one he wrote,
- 44:23Speaker 3: because he didn't write that one I was thinking about
- 44:27Speaker 3: so I was. I really enjoyed the story overall, but
- 44:33Speaker 3: the artwork, the artwork was super weird. It did not
- 44:37Speaker 3: enjoy the artwork.
- 44:39Speaker 2: I did not enjoy the artwork. And I'm gonna say this,
- 44:41Speaker 2: and I might get some backlash from it, but I
- 44:44Speaker 2: think that with the ability that Marvel has been able
- 44:51Speaker 2: to get artists to mimic actors actual faces. Yeah, why
- 45:04Speaker 2: is it that when Mace Windu is the main character,
- 45:10Speaker 2: we cannot get proper art that mimics the face of
- 45:16Speaker 2: Samuel Jackson.
- 45:19Speaker 3: And there's plenty of art out there for it.
- 45:22Speaker 2: Like, Yes, I genuinely believe that this could have been
- 45:26Speaker 2: a home run hitting the park with art because you
- 45:32Speaker 2: look at something like their cover artist for this run.
- 45:37Speaker 3: The cover art is incredible.
- 45:39Speaker 2: I love the cover art, but when it comes to
- 45:42Speaker 2: the action sequences and stuff like that, I understand that
- 45:45Speaker 2: art is hard for those of us who are not
- 45:49Speaker 2: artistically words escape me gifted. Yes, but again, I can
- 46:02Speaker 2: look at almost ten years worth of Marvel comics that
- 46:09Speaker 2: feature Luke Leah and Han Solo and they look exactly
- 46:17Speaker 2: like Harrison Ford, Kerrie Fisher, and Mark Hamill.
- 46:24Speaker 3: Yeah, and it's just it's really disappointing when you look
- 46:28Speaker 3: at it because it's like, and I think it's not
- 46:32Speaker 3: even just like the whole entire face. I think it's
- 46:36Speaker 3: mainly the eyes. So it may be like artistic integrity
- 46:41Speaker 3: that's happening where they do eyes a very specific way
- 46:45Speaker 3: and stuff, but it just doesn't read Samuel L. Jackson.
- 46:48Speaker 3: But even like the additional characters where they have no
- 46:51Speaker 3: background for what this character should look like, the eyes
- 46:56Speaker 3: look mega janky.
- 46:58Speaker 2: It looks off, and there's there is even a I
- 47:02Speaker 2: think it might be In the last issue, you see
- 47:11Speaker 2: Mace is in front of this ship that is the
- 47:16Speaker 2: same model of the Millennium Falcon. I just realized, yeah,
- 47:23Speaker 2: it looks like the exact same model from There's there's
- 47:26Speaker 2: a point when you see it from like a bird's
- 47:29Speaker 2: eye view and it's only like a third of the ship,
- 47:34Speaker 2: but you're like, oh, yeah, that's the same model ship.
- 47:41Speaker 2: But when you turn the page, it's literally the first
- 47:47Speaker 2: page of issue four, his like scowling look with his
- 47:56Speaker 2: mouth partly open. He has a gap in his teeth. Yes,
- 48:02Speaker 2: that right there. I saw this image and I'm like,
- 48:07Speaker 2: who the hell is that?
- 48:10Speaker 3: It's like buck tooth, mace Wind.
- 48:14Speaker 2: It's so weird. It is like there's so many different
- 48:18Speaker 2: faces that you could have had him making this. And again,
- 48:22Speaker 2: if you're reading this digitally, you have that one page
- 48:28Speaker 2: that I'm like, what the hell, But you look at
- 48:30Speaker 2: the page previously and you're like, God damn, that is
- 48:34Speaker 2: such a awesome freaking cover art.
- 48:38Speaker 3: So this one in particular, this is where I'm talking about. Yes,
- 48:43Speaker 3: the eyes are screwing it up.
- 48:46Speaker 2: That's near the end of issue three. It's it's a
- 48:50Speaker 2: spread page, and I think it would have looked very
- 48:54Speaker 2: very nice, but like the portion, the like the proportions
- 48:58Speaker 2: to the head to the body and the eye, it's
- 49:00Speaker 2: like it's all off to me, and it just looks
- 49:03Speaker 2: very very awkward.
- 49:05Speaker 3: So it is not the same model from the sky view.
- 49:10Speaker 3: It's got a different couple of things. But it's probably
- 49:12Speaker 3: a HY model. It's just not a Y thirteen hundred.
- 49:16Speaker 2: Okay, okay, okay, so yes, a YZ model, but not
- 49:20Speaker 2: a thirteen hundred. But we in this story, Mace is
- 49:30Speaker 2: basically going out to find this individual that has the
- 49:37Speaker 2: formula and samples of a new fuel.
- 49:46Speaker 3: Yeah, so it's called Collaxium ultras. It seems solo is
- 49:52Speaker 3: the fuel that runs. I think it's the hyper drives specifically,
- 49:59Speaker 3: so you need that in order to go to light
- 50:02Speaker 3: speed and everything. So this formula is supposed to be
- 50:06Speaker 3: able to increase your capabilities to one hundred and twenty
- 50:09Speaker 3: percent without burning the engine up. And this is a
- 50:13Speaker 3: hot commodity because everybody wants to get everywhere first. So
- 50:18Speaker 3: Mace isn't to retrieve hopefully the spy that found it
- 50:25Speaker 3: or I'm conor a spy, she's a smuggler, and if not,
- 50:30Speaker 3: then retrieve the formula at all costs.
- 50:33Speaker 2: Yeah. And I like how it opened because we just
- 50:39Speaker 2: got done reviewing Glass Abyss, where I'm like he went
- 50:43Speaker 2: undercover and like all this stuff is fun. And like
- 50:46Speaker 2: the very first page that we see him in, I
- 50:49Speaker 2: will say, the model that they have for or the
- 50:53Speaker 2: reference that they had when drawing him in this page
- 50:57Speaker 2: looks really good. Like as soon as he takes off
- 51:00Speaker 2: the helmet or the head piece or whatever it was, like,
- 51:04Speaker 2: it looks good and I really dug this, but like
- 51:07Speaker 2: everything else after that does not look great at all. Yeah,
- 51:12Speaker 2: and it.
- 51:12Speaker 3: Is the same artist team on the issue. You can
- 51:16Speaker 3: go find the artist information. I don't want to name
- 51:19Speaker 3: drop because I don't.
- 51:22Speaker 2: Yeah like that that. Yeah, that interested one thing that
- 51:28Speaker 2: I always say, art is subjective. What you like in
- 51:34Speaker 2: art is something that I may find repulsive, and vice versa.
- 51:40Speaker 2: Everybody has their own tastes. So you know, somebody could
- 51:46Speaker 2: look at this book and be like, it's the most
- 51:48Speaker 2: gorgeous thing I've ever seen. I'm like, cool, that is
- 51:52Speaker 2: for you. You get to enjoy it a lot more
- 51:54Speaker 2: than me, and that is awesome. That's what I like
- 51:58Speaker 2: about the meat of comic books is that, hey, it's
- 52:03Speaker 2: not for everybody. Not everything is for everybody, and that
- 52:07Speaker 2: is okay. So we're not gonna name drop here.
- 52:13Speaker 3: Matt just texted me here that spot. It's like, name drop,
- 52:17Speaker 3: call them out, get the drama traffic. I don't know
- 52:19Speaker 3: what you're talking about. By the way, if anyone was
- 52:27Speaker 3: interested in where this takes place in the timeline, it's
- 52:30Speaker 3: really uncertain where this takes place.
- 52:33Speaker 2: I was gonna ask, because I don't really I couldn't
- 52:40Speaker 2: due to the characters that are at play and everything else.
- 52:44Speaker 2: I can't just be like, oh, that makes it sound
- 52:47Speaker 2: like it's right between this movie or this movie. No.
- 52:50Speaker 3: Yeah, the only characters you know of a Yoda yep.
- 52:58Speaker 3: So Wikipedia has this taking place by forty eight Bby,
- 53:06Speaker 3: So that is sixteen years before the Phantom Menace.
- 53:09Speaker 2: I apologize if you can hear Amberlin screaming bloody murder
- 53:13Speaker 2: right now she doesn't want to go to bed.
- 53:17Speaker 3: I can't hear her.
- 53:18Speaker 4: But yeah, okay, I so you said forty eight Yes,
- 53:25Speaker 4: so this takes place sixteen years before the Phantom Menace
- 53:29Speaker 4: and they have this so Padawan takes place in forty
- 53:32Speaker 4: one Bby.
- 53:34Speaker 3: So this is before Padawan currently in the publishing timeline.
- 53:42Speaker 2: So this is literally the earliest we have seen Mace.
- 53:46Speaker 2: Then if I have.
- 53:49Speaker 3: So, I'm gonna technically you but yes, technically the earliest
- 53:57Speaker 3: was the short comic that we got in Revelations twenty
- 54:01Speaker 3: twenty three.
- 54:05Speaker 2: Yes, yeah, story it introduces the story of his uh.
- 54:11Speaker 3: The prison escape that he does in the beginning. Yeah yeah,
- 54:15Speaker 3: technically no, but yes, because it's the same story.
- 54:19Speaker 2: Yeah, hmm, that's a technicality that is bullshit. No, I'm
- 54:25Speaker 2: jumping out.
- 54:26Speaker 3: So if you credit, I do want.
- 54:30Speaker 2: To ask you this though, yes, due too, and we
- 54:33Speaker 2: won't spoil too much because of course, if you want
- 54:36Speaker 2: to go read The Glass of Byss you can definitely
- 54:38Speaker 2: do that. Yes, we touch base a little bit. Young
- 54:46Speaker 2: makes wind his his origins, his homeworld Katie. Due to
- 54:54Speaker 2: the art, I did not know what this panel was.
- 55:00Speaker 2: I was like, why are they showing me Mace Window's
- 55:02Speaker 2: nipple right now? Do you know what I'm talking about?
- 55:06Speaker 2: You don't know what I'm talking about. So there's a
- 55:09Speaker 2: moment in this book where there is a panel that's
- 55:14Speaker 2: just like really close to another panel, so you can
- 55:19Speaker 2: tell that it's zooming in on something, just because the
- 55:22Speaker 2: way panel progression is. You're like, okay, this is a
- 55:25Speaker 2: zoom in on something. You the writer and artist want
- 55:28Speaker 2: you to notice this thing. And then later the smuggler says, oh,
- 55:36Speaker 2: by the way, maybe such and such from our home world,
- 55:42Speaker 2: and Mace Windows like, oh, well did you know where
- 55:45Speaker 2: I came?
- 55:46Speaker 1: Oh?
- 55:47Speaker 2: Okay, and she she pulls down her shirt and there's
- 55:51Speaker 2: like this little indention into the body. But yeah, when
- 55:57Speaker 2: you look at the panel that actually shows you his mark,
- 56:07Speaker 2: it looks like a nipple, and so I'm like, why
- 56:11Speaker 2: are they showing me Mace Windw's nipple right now? This
- 56:13Speaker 2: is so awkward and there's no context to it whatsoever.
- 56:19Speaker 2: There there's no like signs of her like noticing it
- 56:22Speaker 2: or anything. It just shows it to the reader. And
- 56:26Speaker 2: so I'm like, all right, Mace Window is fighting this worm.
- 56:29Speaker 2: There's his nipple. Let's move on. And then she mentions, oh,
- 56:35Speaker 2: the home world, and I'm like, I don't get it.
- 56:38Speaker 2: And that's when she pulls down her coat and her
- 56:41Speaker 2: jacket and you see it and they explain the whole thing.
- 56:48Speaker 2: How do you feel about the inclusion of the home
- 56:54Speaker 2: world that part of the story? Uh? And was there
- 56:57Speaker 2: a part of you because I kind of rolled my
- 57:00Speaker 2: eyes and I'm glad they didn't do this, But was
- 57:03Speaker 2: there a part of you that was like, oh god,
- 57:05Speaker 2: they're related.
- 57:10Speaker 3: No, I didn't go that far. I was just like, Okay,
- 57:15Speaker 3: this is cool, Like it's cool that he's able to
- 57:18Speaker 3: have that connection to somebody. So other things that I
- 57:27Speaker 3: wanted to highlight from this. I loved the fact that
- 57:31Speaker 3: we got a and I can't remember the species name,
- 57:35Speaker 3: but I wrote olig Babu Frick species character is a
- 57:39Speaker 3: bounty hunter question.
- 57:41Speaker 2: Mark, Oh, yes, his name because he'sous. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 57:49Speaker 2: his name is Yah Yah Shram.
- 57:53Speaker 3: Yes, and he's in there.
- 57:58Speaker 2: He speaks in the in the third perspective and it's
- 58:02Speaker 2: hilarious and like Mace Windu like gets upon his ship
- 58:07Speaker 2: and opens the freaking hatch to the to the pilot's seat.
- 58:10Speaker 2: He's like, oh, you're a small little guy, and like
- 58:14Speaker 2: you could clearly tell that Yaya has like short man syndrome,
- 58:21Speaker 2: and like it gets all high and mighty and puffs's
- 58:24Speaker 2: chest or whatever and then hits the ejection seat. It's like,
- 58:27Speaker 2: this isn't the last you've seen of me? And then
- 58:29Speaker 2: he just like flies off panel and that's the last
- 58:32Speaker 2: you see of them.
- 58:36Speaker 3: The other thing, so I said, learning about Mace's homeworld
- 58:39Speaker 3: was cool.
- 58:41Speaker 5: And then.
- 58:43Speaker 3: The staff weapon that the Shroud monkey dude, not the
- 58:48Speaker 3: last guy, but the one in the beginning, which I
- 58:51Speaker 3: guess technically the Shroud himself uses it as well, which
- 58:55Speaker 3: the Shroud is a former Jedi spoiler alert, Sorry, yeah,
- 59:02Speaker 3: I'm wondering what kind of staff weapon he's using. And
- 59:06Speaker 3: it feels like we're gonna see him again.
- 59:08Speaker 2: With the ending of this comic wit you said in
- 59:11Speaker 2: the beginning of the book, so not.
- 59:13Speaker 3: The beginning of the book, but like at the beginning
- 59:16Speaker 3: of issue for the staff with electricity coming.
- 59:22Speaker 2: Off of Yes, yes, yes, yes, this is a very
- 59:27Speaker 2: interesting weapon. The one thing that I get annoyed with
- 59:34Speaker 2: also when it comes to and this is not just
- 59:37Speaker 2: Star Wars, but just like storytelling in general, is when
- 59:43Speaker 2: moments like this happen, where we know the lightsaber is
- 59:47Speaker 2: like this all encompassing, like invincible weapon that is not
- 59:52Speaker 2: supposed to be beaten. But like, after years and years
- 59:55Speaker 2: and years of Star Wars, we finally see that there
- 59:57Speaker 2: are in fact other weapons that and go up against lightsabers, right,
- 1:00:02Speaker 2: But like this individual is fighting Mace Windu and hits
- 1:00:06Speaker 2: his lightsaber, and Mace goes, how are you hitting my lightsaber?
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: Like and makes it very obvious. It's like, guys, come on, yeah,
- 1:00:16Speaker 2: we've seen this before. This isn't new. You're not surprising
- 1:00:20Speaker 2: anybody except for Mace exactly. I I kind of rolled
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: my eyes at that panel. But I do like the
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: inclusion of newer weapons within the universe. I think that
- 1:00:39Speaker 2: it's very very fun to create things within a universe
- 1:00:46Speaker 2: that you absolutely love so I'll give you, know, kudos
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: to the writer for that. But yeah, I think it's
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: it's it's very cool.
- 1:00:55Speaker 3: Yeah, I think that's about it on this comic though.
- 1:00:59Speaker 3: I did see Tom posted one thing, So, but are
- 1:01:01Speaker 3: you done with the comic stuff? Uh? Yeah, or the
- 1:01:06Speaker 3: comic review. Sorry, I don't know why I said stuff
- 1:01:09Speaker 3: before we say what Tom said? Goldface said, Hey, y'all
- 1:01:12Speaker 3: help all as well, Clay, I need you to send
- 1:01:14Speaker 3: here a Star Wars reading guide again I lost the
- 1:01:16Speaker 3: old one. Yes, I don't know you sent him.
- 1:01:19Speaker 2: But this is Kyle. He is in the geek First discord,
- 1:01:26Speaker 2: which I will say, uh, go join We are all
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: a part of that, and there is actually a section
- 1:01:32Speaker 2: we do have a channel for high Republic spoiler talk.
- 1:01:37Speaker 2: Uh so if anybody wants to join in on the
- 1:01:39Speaker 2: conversations that we have normally for a high republic, you
- 1:01:44Speaker 2: can always join in on that. But yeah, Kyle, I
- 1:01:48Speaker 2: will give you a new reading guide, one for higher
- 1:01:52Speaker 2: republic and then of course one for just overall all
- 1:01:55Speaker 2: timeline stuff.
- 1:01:56Speaker 3: Yes, so Tom at arth interness on the social media
- 1:02:02Speaker 3: uh said in honor of the early drop at New
- 1:02:05Speaker 3: York Comic Con. Here's the quote. Intro for Reign of
- 1:02:10Speaker 3: the Empire The Mask of Fear. Most Star Wars nomals
- 1:02:14Speaker 3: start with a crawl to set the context of the story.
- 1:02:17Speaker 3: We skipped a crawl because one dialogue pairing from episode
- 1:02:21Speaker 3: three sets up this series better than a crawl ever could.
- 1:02:25Speaker 3: And I don't think you'll get all right. I think
- 1:02:28Speaker 3: you'll be able to guess which dialogue pairing this is.
- 1:02:31Speaker 3: Do you know what it is? Or have you already looked?
- 1:02:34Speaker 2: I was gonna look, but go ahead.
- 1:02:37Speaker 3: Do you know what this dialogue pairing is? Do you
- 1:02:38Speaker 3: have a guess? With it being about mad Mathma Bail
- 1:02:44Speaker 3: and the start of the rebellion.
- 1:02:47Speaker 2: It's.
- 1:02:49Speaker 3: Rog one no Episode three.
- 1:02:52Speaker 2: Oh yeah, so this is.
- 1:02:54Speaker 3: A dialogue pairing from episode three for the Mask of Fear,
- 1:02:57Speaker 3: which starts the Elian talk with my Mathma Bail.
- 1:03:04Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, you have a guess for the dialogue pair
- 1:03:10Speaker 2: No brain fart, keep going.
- 1:03:15Speaker 3: So here is the dialogue pairing. The Jedi rebellion has
- 1:03:19Speaker 3: been foiled. The remaining Jedi will be hunted down and defeated.
- 1:03:23Speaker 3: The attempt on my life has left me scarred and deformed,
- 1:03:27Speaker 3: but I assure my result has never been stronger in
- 1:03:31Speaker 3: order to ensure the security and continuing stability, the Republic
- 1:03:36Speaker 3: will be reorganized into the first Galactic Empire for a
- 1:03:41Speaker 3: safe and secure society. Dot dot dot Emperor Palpatine at
- 1:03:47Speaker 3: here's here's the pair. Obviously everybody knows where we're going.
- 1:03:52Speaker 3: But so this is how liberty dies. With thunderous applause
- 1:03:58Speaker 3: pad ma ammadala.
- 1:04:01Speaker 2: This again again again, this hits way too close to
- 1:04:08Speaker 2: home right now. I love it and I hate it
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: all at the same time. But that is very clever,
- 1:04:17Speaker 2: and I think that it is smart because again, when
- 1:04:23Speaker 2: it comes to moments like this, the idea of jumping
- 1:04:31Speaker 2: into a krawl, you're you're always going to have the
- 1:04:35Speaker 2: people that are like, oh the classic, Yes, the crawl,
- 1:04:38Speaker 2: I love it, let's read it, blah blah blah. And
- 1:04:40Speaker 2: then you have the people that are like, Okay, we
- 1:04:43Speaker 2: want something new, how is this new? Like this is
- 1:04:46Speaker 2: not new? Right, So when you do something like this,
- 1:04:49Speaker 2: I think it sets up the tone very well. I
- 1:04:51Speaker 2: think that it gives that feeling of like, yes, this
- 1:04:58Speaker 2: is in fact yeah, so like yeah yeah.
- 1:05:01Speaker 3: Because I mean I am really digging this because I
- 1:05:05Speaker 3: was very I have been. I'm not gonna say I
- 1:05:07Speaker 3: was I'm gonna say I have been very nervous about
- 1:05:11Speaker 3: this one because I don't know how I feel about
- 1:05:15Speaker 3: like the depths of political star wars, Like it's always
- 1:05:21Speaker 3: been something around like like Bloodline, like Bloodline, everybody loves Bloodline,
- 1:05:26Speaker 3: but like, I don't know, I don't like how nitty
- 1:05:27Speaker 3: gritty we get into the politics. Like I crave some
- 1:05:32Speaker 3: action in these books. So I'm like a little nervous.
- 1:05:36Speaker 3: Obviously I'm gonna approach it fresh and everything, but that
- 1:05:40Speaker 3: that that's something to consider. But this kind of makes
- 1:05:44Speaker 3: me feel.
- 1:05:44Speaker 5: Like, ooh, because like Shadow of the Sith did this
- 1:05:49Speaker 5: with the Revenge of the Sith quote at the beginning
- 1:05:53Speaker 5: from the novelization specifically, So I'm all for this with.
- 1:05:58Speaker 2: The with your comment about the politics and how like
- 1:06:04Speaker 2: kind of grimy and uncomfortable and stuff that it can
- 1:06:08Speaker 2: make you. But also, like you said, there's a lot
- 1:06:12Speaker 2: of people that are you know, it's it's almost like
- 1:06:17Speaker 2: its own lightsaber problem within a book. Right, It's like, Okay,
- 1:06:21Speaker 2: I'm craving this action. I want something that's gonna get
- 1:06:24Speaker 2: my adrenaline pumping. With all of this, I will recommend
- 1:06:30Speaker 2: that if people want a sense of like what are
- 1:06:33Speaker 2: they talking about? Go look up some political drama TV shows,
- 1:06:39Speaker 2: and like there is some action in the sense of
- 1:06:44Speaker 2: like debate back and forth, and like it can get intense.
- 1:06:48Speaker 2: And that's what I expect this to be. I think
- 1:06:50Speaker 2: it's going to be a lot of back and forth yelling.
- 1:06:54Speaker 2: Tension is high, like and with this they are at
- 1:06:59Speaker 2: the brink and or the start of war, right, So,
- 1:07:05Speaker 2: like it is gonna be a very intense time. So
- 1:07:09Speaker 2: I'm gonna love this. I think this is gonna be
- 1:07:12Speaker 2: a very I think it'll be a slow burn for sure.
- 1:07:14Speaker 2: For people who are anticipating this to be like a
- 1:07:18Speaker 2: quick read. I do not think that this is gonna
- 1:07:20Speaker 2: be a quick read. I think that you are going
- 1:07:22Speaker 2: to have to sit down with it for a little
- 1:07:23Speaker 2: bit and be like, Okay, let's get through this and
- 1:07:27Speaker 2: see how it goes.
- 1:07:29Speaker 3: Like I've been really struggling to get through books twice,
- 1:07:31Speaker 3: like I typically do when we get the books early
- 1:07:35Speaker 3: before a review, but this one, I'm gonna really have
- 1:07:37Speaker 3: to make sure, like hey, I need to read through
- 1:07:40Speaker 3: to like understand the overall plot, and then I need
- 1:07:43Speaker 3: to read through again to get the nitty gritty. So
- 1:07:47Speaker 3: that's gonna be probably my plan with this one. So yeah, Clay,
- 1:07:53Speaker 3: where can they find you?
- 1:07:55Speaker 2: Yes, of course you can always find me at fanboy Play,
- 1:07:57Speaker 2: on Twitter, and on any other media that you may
- 1:08:02Speaker 2: be following. I've taken a little bit of a break
- 1:08:06Speaker 2: from the Marvel Snap content making. I am constantly playing
- 1:08:10Speaker 2: the game and I actually might be streaming the game
- 1:08:14Speaker 2: this weekend with a new game mode that just came
- 1:08:16Speaker 2: out this today actually, But I will say this, I
- 1:08:21Speaker 2: have been itching to make content for comic books and
- 1:08:26Speaker 2: tiktoks again, so be on the lookout for that. And
- 1:08:31Speaker 2: you may or may not see some Star Wars content
- 1:08:36Speaker 2: in there as well, so be on the lookout for that. Currently,
- 1:08:43Speaker 2: I'm still trying to get a hold of Joe for
- 1:08:46Speaker 2: recording on Ranger Alliance. We things are so busy right
- 1:08:52Speaker 2: now for all three of us at Ranger Alliance, so
- 1:08:57Speaker 2: it might just be taking a small hiatus into next year.
- 1:09:02Speaker 2: We still have to make that decision, but be on
- 1:09:06Speaker 2: the lookout for Ranger Alliance stuff. There has been a
- 1:09:08Speaker 2: lot of Power Rangers drama recently with the auction going on,
- 1:09:15Speaker 2: with all of the Power Ranger memorabilia actors fighting over
- 1:09:20Speaker 2: whether they should have their suits or not, their helmets,
- 1:09:24Speaker 2: their props and all of that stuff. It's very silly
- 1:09:26Speaker 2: and high school ish, but also very funny at times.
- 1:09:30Speaker 2: So we will be getting down to the nitty gritty
- 1:09:33Speaker 2: of that over at Ranger Alliance. But yeah, just be
- 1:09:37Speaker 2: on the lookout for any and all of that, Katie,
- 1:09:40Speaker 2: what about you?
- 1:09:41Speaker 3: Yes, Yeah, can find me on most social media platforms
- 1:09:44Speaker 3: at Place of Katie. I have turned my Twitter onto private,
- 1:09:49Speaker 3: and I might be in the zone of deleting it
- 1:09:51Speaker 3: very soon because I don't like where it's going, and
- 1:09:54Speaker 3: I've blocked some people on the twitters that I don't
- 1:09:57Speaker 3: want following me, and I honestly don't trust the private
- 1:10:00Speaker 3: button anymore.
- 1:10:02Speaker 2: Yeah. I just got the notification when I signed in
- 1:10:06Speaker 2: right before we jumped on here on my actual computer. Uh,
- 1:10:10Speaker 2: and a big thing popped up was like, hey, blocking
- 1:10:13Speaker 2: is changing, and I'm like, uh, crap, that's actually a
- 1:10:15Speaker 2: thing now.
- 1:10:16Speaker 3: Yeah, and it's not a thing that I'm a fan of.
