- 3:25is not a holiday for soldiers, it's a holiday for work.
- 3:29So I hope everybody enjoyed their non work day for Labor
- 3:34Day. How are you?
- 3:35How are you Speedy? How are you, Jabba?
- 3:37Well, I was drafting for two teams I drafted for yours.
- 3:40I well. First of all, let's cut you off
- 3:43over here. I told you when we were going to
- 3:46do this draft that I was not going to pick 53 players on a
- 3:50roster. So I already said it's your turn
- 3:53to do it. I will just play the roster when
- 3:56you pick the team and I don't even want to know my roster
- 3:59until the show is on. No, we're going to.
- 4:00We'll reveal it with a surprise with Chris when he comes on.
- 4:03OK, we'll have a surprise with the old Chris Lombardi.
- 4:07Jabba, how are you? Good, good.
- 4:10We got an overcast day like usually here in good old
- 4:13Nebraska, but other than that, everything's good, man.
- 4:15Just been playing. I got one of those new like
- 4:20desks that you can like raise up and down.
- 4:27You look like a you look like a little fella.
- 4:30I'm not going. To use.
- 4:30I know it's weird like. I'm not going to use the other
- 4:33one. I don't want to get myself in
- 4:34trouble on the show you keep. Going.
- 4:38Now we just see your your small athletic head.
- 4:41As we all know, Jabba lost 30 lbs.
- 4:44Congratulations to Jabba Chamberlain losing 30 lbs.
- 4:47You look damn good man, you really do.
- 4:49Thanks. You look, it's great too,
- 4:50because I got one of those those, I don't know what they're
- 4:55viral, whatever, those walking treadmills too.
- 4:59But you don't need that, you're outside all the time.
- 5:02I know, but like if, if it's raining or something and you got
- 5:04like a meeting or something, it's nice to be able to get all
- 5:07your stuff done, walk and still be able to be productive and oh
- 5:12so get some stuff done. So wait a second.
- 5:14You got a treadmill. So when you're on a meeting
- 5:16call, you're going to be walking the treadmill.
- 5:18That's what you're going to be doing.
- 5:19You're. Just going to be chilling.
- 5:20Out and nobody hears the treadmill in the background.
- 5:25Really, it's quiet. I'm always on a meeting when I'm
- 5:27on the treadmill and people say how could you be on a meeting?
- 5:30I'm at the gym and I have my headsets.
- 5:33That yeah, because you're at the gym.
- 5:34Yeah, but you can't hear anything because it's sound.
- 5:37What do they call it? The sound barrier earphones
- 5:40where you. Reducing or.
- 5:42No, no, no. It's like.
- 5:43AI think that's I think that's a sham because you can still hear
- 5:45stuff. I yeah, probably you can hear
- 5:48stuff, but I can't hear nothing. It's like completely closed up
- 5:53air with nothing coming through those headsets.
- 5:56So I actually love doing those meetings when I'm on the
- 5:59treadmill now and and I've been on the treadmill practically
- 6:02five days a week. I'm going about 2 1/2 three
- 6:05miles a day and I am at 20. I think I said I was at 2:02
- 6:10today. I lost almost 3334 lbs.
- 6:14So at, I think two months ago I was 234, I dropped about 32 lbs.
- 6:20So I'm very happy. I had an A1C that was absolutely
- 6:24horrific and my doctor said I, I was pre diabetic so I had to do
- 6:29something about it. So I had to cut out some sugar
- 6:32drinks. So now I'm just going with the
- 6:34watering meal, ladies and gentlemen.
- 6:36So if you want to go to Walmart and get your meal, get the acai
- 6:40or the acai Berry and go over there.
- 6:43Actually, it's really delicious and it there's no sugar in it,
- 6:46so artificial. What do they call that
- 6:48sweetener? So I.
- 6:50Absolutely, or whatever it is. Yeah, it's sweetener, but my
- 6:53doctor says I could do it and I could take it and I've been
- 6:56doing it. So I've been doing it.
- 6:59Caffeine bot, baby. I I'm not a caffeine drinker.
- 7:02I'm not a coffee drinker. A coffee as the Bostonites or
- 7:07Boston, Boston Ice, as they say, it's coffee, not coffee.
- 7:12I I don't use coffee, by the way.
- 7:14I say coffee. So I try I'm going to correct my
- 7:17spelling in my my English language as fish is the quote on
- 7:21quote teacher on on this quota over here today.
- 7:25So anyways, Pablo Torre on The Athletic podcast Pablo Torre
- 7:30Finds Out, reported a bombshell story earlier on Tuesday
- 7:35suggesting the LA Clippers paid Kawhi Leonard $28 million to
- 7:40work a no show job in order to pay him more than a Max contract
- 7:46allowed by the NBA salary cap when they signed him to an
- 7:51extension before the 2021 and 2022 season.
- 7:56This this situation revolves around the company Aspiration,
- 8:01which Clipper owner Steve Ballmer made a $300 million
- 8:06partnership with in I'm sorry within 2021, including a $50
- 8:12million personal investment. Aspiration went bankrupt and is
- 8:17under federal investigation with their Co founder already
- 8:21pleading guilty to two counts of wire fraud and defrauding
- 8:25investors and lenders of more than $248 million.
- 8:31Ballmer allegedly set up a four year, $28 million deal between
- 8:38between aspirations and Leonard's personal LLCKL two
- 8:43Aspire where he did not have to do anything and get paid, but
- 8:49would be voided if he left the Clippers.
- 8:53The timing and nature of the deal makes it look like Ballmer
- 8:59gave Kawhi an extra $28 million Max contract allowed in order to
- 9:05keep him in LA. The Clippers and Ballmer flatly
- 9:10deny any wrongdoing, but the NBA came out a few hours ago with a
- 9:16statement that the Clippers and this Kawhi Leonard situation are
- 9:21now under an NBA investigation. In 2000, when the Timberwolves
- 9:27were found to skirt the salary cap with Joe Smith, they were
- 9:33stripped of five first round picks, fine 3.5 million, and
- 9:38band coach Kevin McHale and owner Glenn Taylor for the year
- 9:44while avoiding Smith's contract. This is a very, very interesting
- 9:50story. And again, a story that Pablo
- 9:54Torre has come out with. Now when Pablo comes out and he
- 9:58investigates these stories, these stories obviously have
- 10:02some legs and has some back end to the story.
- 10:06Kawhi Leonard to me is one of my favorite players.
- 10:09I've been watching. Kawhi Leonard when he was
- 10:11drafted by the San Antonio Spurs, he won championships with
- 10:15the San Antonio Spurs. Then he went over there to
- 10:17Toronto and won a championship with Toronto and he had to
- 10:22decide where he was going to go. Now he wanted to go back to LA,
- 10:25as we all know, where he went to school.
- 10:28He went to San Diego State and he wanted to go back home and he
- 10:33wanted to be closer to home with his mom and his family.
- 10:36And it was between the LA Lakers and the LA Clippers.
- 10:39He didn't want to go to the Lakers, and one of the main
- 10:41reasons why he didn't want to go to the Lakers was because of
- 10:44LeBron James. So it was the LA Clippers or
- 10:48somewhere else, maybe Golden State because that's another
- 10:50California team. But the fact is he decided to go
- 10:55to the Clippers and a lot of people when he decided to go to
- 10:58Clippers were questioning why would he go to an organization
- 11:01that always loses when they had Doc Rivers and Chris Paul there
- 11:06and Lob City. It didn't work.
- 11:09It never worked, and we could go back in time for the Clippers
- 11:13organization. They were an absolute debacle
- 11:17and you think about Kawhi Leonard, this guy was the best
- 11:19two way player in basketball at the time when he decided to go
- 11:24to LA. Now he had knee problems and
- 11:25before he signed the contract there were questions on why the
- 11:29LA Clippers would give him an extension and give him a
- 11:32contract when they knew after bringing him to the organization
- 11:36he might need knee surgery. But nevertheless, adding a
- 11:40superstar play like Kawhi and the way the organization was now
- 11:44building through owner Steve Ballmer, a fairly new owner, one
- 11:49of the richest owners in professional sports, they needed
- 11:53a way to draw this man to the organization.
- 11:58And knowing that if they can set up some kind of flaw in the
- 12:05contract and create a company, a corporation called Aspiration,
- 12:11they can find a way to give Kawhi Leonard $28 million more
- 12:16where he would accept going to an LA Clipper team that
- 12:20obviously was in a rebuilding stage and obviously was trying
- 12:24to find a way to draw more superstars to come and play
- 12:27there. Kawhi Leonard is a guy that I'm
- 12:32not saying had anything fully to do with this because we don't
- 12:35know the full story, but we all know Steve Ballmer comes from an
- 12:39organization, a very well known organization, a computer
- 12:44organization called Microsoft and Bill Gates.
- 12:48If anybody knows about Bill Gates and his back end story,
- 12:52he's a very smart man, but he stole a lot of people's ideas.
- 12:56That's how he became rich. Now, just because you steal
- 13:00ideas and you bring it to the forefront does not mean you
- 13:03can't make billions of dollars off those deals.
- 13:07And that's what obviously Bill Gates did.
- 13:10But when you hear a story like this and you talk about the past
- 13:14of what the NBA has done to organizations, including, as we
- 13:18said, the Timberwolves, the Minnesota Timberwolves, and what
- 13:22they did to the GM and the owner and Kevin McHale.
- 13:27And I remember it very, very well because Kevin McHale was
- 13:30the one that was in the forefront of drafting Kevin
- 13:34Garnett. Do we remember Kevin Garnett,
- 13:36one of the greatest power forwards of all time and also
- 13:39behind drafting well, making the trade and then drafting Stefan
- 13:44Marbury? If you remember that when you
- 13:47look at the fact of what the NBA did to Kevin McHale ownership in
- 13:54Glenn Taylor over there in Minnesota at the time in 2000,
- 13:58you would honestly believe that If the NBA investigates this
- 14:01story and looks deeper into it, there has to be some kind of
- 14:07hammer being dropped on an organization like the LA
- 14:10Clippers. First of all, that is patent
- 14:12with money. This is an organization is the
- 14:15richest organization and professional basketball.
- 14:18Think about it. The Lakers just sold their
- 14:19organization for what, twelve $13 billion?
- 14:25You talk about the Clippers and you talk about Ballmer.
- 14:29Ballmer is a guy that's very smart.
- 14:31He understands business. He understands how to hide and
- 14:34deliver money to players and people in a business standpoint.
- 14:38Aspirations. I remember the patch that they
- 14:42were wearing on their jersey at the time this was going on.
- 14:46I remember it when Fish told me we were going to get into this
- 14:49story. I remember it very, very well.
- 14:51I didn't even know what aspiration was.
- 14:54I know the Nike sign. I know the Jordan sign, which
- 14:56most NBA teams are wearing on their jerseys now, and now the
- 15:00NBA is allowing teams to use sponsorships to put on their
- 15:05jerseys, which we're going to see in the next two to three
- 15:07years. You're going to see a lot of
- 15:09different things on NBA jerseys. As a matter of fact, if you go
- 15:13to Europe and you see the European jerseys, that's all
- 15:16they do. All their sponsors are promoted
- 15:19on their jerseys. You, you obviously have to
- 15:23understand the way the NBA works.
- 15:25You have to understand how professional sports work.
- 15:29College football has agreed to bring in NIL deals, paying
- 15:34players to play college football, the NBA, and the money
- 15:38that these guys are making. As we as I brought up and what's
- 15:42that smell yesterday, There are players that are making 10s of
- 15:48millions of dollars and never step on the basketball court
- 15:51once in a game. Just think about it.
- 15:56We had a coach, as I brought up yesterday that was making
- 15:59$150,000 playing for the Lakers and riding the bench, and
- 16:04players were saying to that specific coach, Coach, how could
- 16:09you live on $150,000 when the average American don't even
- 16:14break $100,000 a year? Think about it.
- 16:19And now you look at these stories and I'm sure this isn't
- 16:21the first time we've heard this. I'm sure this isn't the first or
- 16:25the last time we're going to hear an owner maneuver some kind
- 16:29of way to deliver more money to a player under the table and try
- 16:33to play like he knew nothing about it.
- 16:37Now, obviously, he has come out and agreed and pleaded guilty to
- 16:42two counts of wire fraud. OK, Just think about that.
- 16:47Wire fraud is a felony. That is a felony.
- 16:53And you also think that if it was me or you, and I'm talking
- 16:57about Speedy, you're not Jabba because Jabba is Jabba
- 16:59Chamberlain. He's a multi millionaire.
- 17:01So we all know who Jabba Chamberlain is.
- 17:03But if it was me or Speedy that does something like that, we're
- 17:06going to jail. We're going to jail for at least
- 17:105 to 10 years at least for two felonies or two felony counts of
- 17:15that magnitude. Ohtani, going back to what we
- 17:19have heard and the stories behind the whole Tony debacle
- 17:23with the condos and the money that was delivered or
- 17:28disappeared as his agent claims that it wasn't these two fellas
- 17:32money divided out when they were trying to build these
- 17:36condominiums. I honestly believe that the NBA
- 17:40will brush this under the rug. I do because the NBA knows that
- 17:44Steve Ballmer is is a very important piece to the growth of
- 17:49the NBA and NBA business sponsorships, advertisements.
- 17:54This is a guy that's a mastermind of understanding how
- 17:57to build businesses around his professional sports team.
- 18:01And I, I do believe that Steve Ballmer with the money that he
- 18:05has behind him as we see money talks and bull, you know, what
- 18:08walks Steve Ballmer is a guy that understands how to figure
- 18:13out how to negotiate things and brush things in places that you
- 18:18will never talk about or find ever again.
- 18:22Now, this isn't David Stern. Now, if it was David Stern that
- 18:27was behind this situation, you know, David Stern will drop the
- 18:31hammer on ownership. You know, David Stern will
- 18:34absolutely press on the Clippers and do what he did in 2000 to
- 18:41the Timberwolves. I think that was his final, I
- 18:43think final two or three years if I'm not mistaken.
- 18:47Yeah, because I know Garnett was just trade to the plastics.
- 18:50It was right around that. David Stern was still running
- 18:53the NBA organization. He gave Adam Silver the reins.
- 18:55I think if I'm not mistaken, it was 2005 or 2006.
- 18:59It was right after Eli Manning was drafted, if I'm not
- 19:02mistaken, when David Stern walked away and gave the reins
- 19:07to Adam Silver. Adam Silver has, and I'm not
- 19:11saying he's ruined the league. I'm not saying that, and I'm not
- 19:14saying that Adam Silver isn't a smart, intelligent man.
- 19:17Adam Silver has let the players control the league.
- 19:21He has let the players decide where and how the league should
- 19:28be run, as we all call it. The LJA on this show, the LeBron
- 19:32James Association, and then, and this is a big league which has
- 19:36become international because of Michael Jordan and now LeBron
- 19:39James. It's big all over the place.
- 19:42We talk about how soccer, European football is big all
- 19:45around the world. Basketball is coming to that
- 19:48point. Basketball is becoming that
- 19:52second international sport. It's not hockey.
- 19:55I know everybody's going to say, well, what about hockey?
- 19:57Hockey's big internationally, but it's not as big as
- 20:00basketball is. Basketball is played in over 200
- 20:06countries. All you need is a basketball.
- 20:08You don't even need sneakers anymore.
- 20:10You could go, you can run up and down a court and shoot a
- 20:14basketball. And with the money that
- 20:16sponsorships and sneaker deals that these players are getting,
- 20:20as we have attacked many different WNBA players,
- 20:23attacking Caitlin Clark on what she's doing for the WNBA, we all
- 20:28know that money does grow on trees for the NBA.
- 20:32And $28 million to an NBA team is nothing.
- 20:37It's pennies. It's nothing to a guy like Steve
- 20:40Ballmer, the amount of money that is being brought in through
- 20:45TV deals and sponsorships. So we all know the NBA knows
- 20:49that $28 million. Oh, we'll just brush this under
- 20:51the rug. Well, we'll give a fine.
- 20:53You're not going to lose draft picks.
- 20:55It's not going to be like it was in 2000 because Adam Silver has
- 20:59allowed ownership and allowed players to control the league,
- 21:03not the commissioner, as the commissioner should be stepping
- 21:07in and saying what he should be saying as a commissioner and
- 21:12attacking ownership and why you should not be paying players
- 21:16onto the table that kind of money when you're giving these
- 21:19guys multi million mega deals. You're talking about Steph
- 21:24Curry, who just got, I'm sorry, not even Steph Curry.
- 21:26Brown from the from the the Celtics just got a $400 million
- 21:30contract. Jason Tatum, I'm Did he just get
- 21:33a contract? Yeah, he got one last.
- 21:34Year. What was it, 500 million?
- 21:36He was low 300. I think his was 310.
- 21:38And then you'll look at Shay this last season, so.
- 21:40I mean, it's ridiculous. These players are making
- 21:42ridiculous amount of money, more than we're going to be talking
- 21:46about basketball players making more than baseball players a
- 21:49year. Just think about that.
- 21:51This is very few players on a basketball team.
- 21:54What is there 1213 guys on a roster?
- 21:56And it's like, I think there's 15 technically, but like.
- 21:59You know what I'm doing, what I'm speaking.
- 22:00To them, there can be, yeah, there can be a total of 14, I
- 22:03think 14 or 15. Yeah, so but you're 13 players
- 22:06usually only play if if depending on a coach, if even
- 22:10Tom Thibodeau only played eight guys.
- 22:11But you know what I mean If if it's a.
- 22:13Certain, but even even that 11th and 12th dudes still getting
- 22:16like a million or two to do nothing.
- 22:18Less no the 11th or 12th guy on an NBA team like it makes more
- 22:22than a lot of second line NHL players.
- 22:24It's ridiculous how much these guys are making.
- 22:26I wonder. I mean.
- 22:29How much do you think though, really?
- 22:31An average guy playing, riding the bench.
- 22:34I know there was a Knick player, a big man that the Knicks gave
- 22:37an extension to and they were paying him if I'm not I'm not
- 22:41mistaken, 8 or 9 million a year and he didn't step on a
- 22:45basketball court once that season.
- 22:48And then the Knicks decided to drop him and pay pay off the
- 22:52contract. I think they signed up to A2
- 22:54year deal worth about 16,000,000.
- 22:56I don't remember the player. It was a big man, 7 foot 7 foot
- 23:00guy. I I I draw a blank on the name
- 23:02too. I think it was in the Phil
- 23:03Jackson era. It was in the Phil Jackson era,
- 23:06and I remember it because, and it was either in a Phil Jackson
- 23:11or Jeff Hornacek, Jerome James, Jerome James, that's who it was.
- 23:16And I remember when the Knicks gave him that big guy.
- 23:17He didn't step on the Court One time when that season, not once.
- 23:22He was terrible. Absolutely, it says the average
- 23:26NBA just bench salary like the minimum contract is between 1.1
- 23:31and 3.3 and it just depends on experience how many years you
- 23:36have but it could be up to 12 point. 4 if.
- 23:39You're a mid level. Think about that.
- 23:42If I was a parent right now and I'm sitting pretty and I say,
- 23:46hey, son, you're athletic. You're about 6 foot 36 foot
- 23:49four. What would you what, what would
- 23:51we put you in? What kind of sport do you enjoy
- 23:54playing? Football's too.
- 23:56It's too much of a contact sport.
- 23:57I don't want you to have CTI, don't want you to have brain
- 24:00trauma in the future. Baseball, you got to go up to
- 24:03single A and AA and AAA. You might never step on a
- 24:06baseball field and you definitely don't want to get
- 24:08paid that rinky dinky money in the minors.
- 24:11And and then you talk about hockey, hockey, there's the AHL,
- 24:17there's junior and then AHL. But are you ever going to step
- 24:20on an NHL ice? And, and if you do, an average
- 24:23player is probably bringing in 500,000.
- 24:26Honestly, the sport that I'm telling my kid to play is
- 24:30basketball. Why?
- 24:32You know, there's no contact whatsoever because if you lay a
- 24:35pinky, they're at the free throw line.
- 24:37And internationally, you go to Europe right now, they're paying
- 24:40guys five $6,000,000 to play international basketball.
- 24:43Ask Stephon Marbury. We have a statue over there of
- 24:46him in China. And then yeah, here in the NBA,
- 24:51if you're a bench player, even if you're AG League player,
- 24:54there are G League players that were not drafted that we're
- 24:58making $500,000 a year. Sometimes before they were
- 25:02drafted. Yeah, 17 years old Mitchell
- 25:04Robinson, if I, if I'm not mistaken, was making like
- 25:07$350,000 playing overseas because he didn't play college
- 25:12ball. He decided that year he was
- 25:14going to go to the NBA drafts, which was a big mistake because
- 25:17he probably was a top ten, top 15 pick if he played for SMUI
- 25:21remember it. And instead, instead he decided,
- 25:24Hey, you know what, I'm going to go play overseas.
- 25:26I don't want to play college ball.
- 25:28I don't want to play if if I'm not miss.
- 25:30It was Larry Brown decided to step down.
- 25:32I I don't know. He was in a scandal, so he had
- 25:34to step down, I think so little before the Arizona scandal.
- 25:37So that's why he probably decided to go overseas.
- 25:39I don't remember the whole story, but the fact is and the
- 25:43NBA and the amount of money these players are bringing in is
- 25:46significant and ownership. I am not surprised that they're
- 25:50paying these players under the under the table and they're
- 25:53going to find ways to create LLC's corporations.
- 25:57And what is $300 million to a guy like Ballmer?
- 26:00It's nothing. This guy is what he's worth
- 26:03about $22 billion, $300 million is like $30 in his pocket.
- 26:09It's not a lot of money. It really isn't.
- 26:12Oh, it's not $30.00, but you know, $30,000 in his pocket.
- 26:15He's not crying about losing 300 million.
- 26:18He added the best player, the best two way player at the point
- 26:21of no return in the NBAI don't care if he had knee problems.
- 26:26This guy was the best two way player and he just come and came
- 26:28off winning a championship with a Toronto Raptor team that
- 26:33honestly had no business winning a championship.
- 26:35That's what I'm saying. So I'm going all in on it. 28
- 26:39million, I'll give you let's let's give you a nice 40
- 26:43million. That's nothing to me. 300
- 26:45million open up a corporation. I'm losing money.
- 26:47Who cares? I'm I'm Steve Ballmer, I'll
- 26:50just, I'll take another billion out and put it in my pocket.
- 26:53Who cares? As we all know, Stevie, Uncle
- 26:55Stevie, he paid, he paid Mr. Juan Soto $768 million and he
- 27:04made a billion dollars the year before that.
- 27:06What is $768 million to a guy that's a hedge fund owner and
- 27:11he's he's bringing in one to $2 billion a year?
- 27:15Honestly speak, and I've made that analogy before, the the
- 27:18Clippers are a lot like the New York Mets.
- 27:20When Steve Cohen bought the Mets.
- 27:22Cohen was involved in scandals at the time that he ended up
- 27:24being wrongly, wrongfully accused of, but still was
- 27:27involved in a lot of stuff like that.
- 27:29Trying to do it with the Mets, trying to, especially when they
- 27:31traded for Lindor at the time. I think that was when the
- 27:33scandal really start to took off more and both those teams are
- 27:37the 2 richest owners in sports. They're both like high profile
- 27:40getting these big name guys and both both teams.
- 27:43Now the Mets finally made the NLCS but before that they were
- 27:45doing nothing in the playoffs and the Clippers forget about
- 27:47it. They did nothing in the playoffs
- 27:48whatsoever even with Kawhi Leonard there.
- 27:51The best series, actually, was when Kawhi Leonard got hurt.
- 27:54They beat Utah and they went to the Western Conference finals
- 27:56before losing to Phoenix. And then you want to be
- 27:59established yourself as a reputation over the Lakers.
- 28:02Kawhi Leonard wanted that image. Oh, I don't want to play with
- 28:04LeBron James. I want to be my own guy.
- 28:06He brings in Paul George, helps the Thunder win a championship
- 28:09with all the draft picks and trading Shay and all that.
- 28:12Other stuff didn't they have to wait a year for Paul George?
- 28:14And if I'm not mistaken, when they made the move for Kawhi
- 28:17Leonard, he was out for 1 1/2 season because of the knee
- 28:20injury. They already knew that he had a
- 28:23knee injury and they still signed him and brought him to
- 28:27the LA Clippers. They didn't care about his knee
- 28:29injury because they got Kawhi Leonard a a champion not for one
- 28:34organization, but two. And how many times did we talk
- 28:37about like all these different Kawhi Leonard trade rumors too
- 28:39that we're going to have? Oh, they lost in 2022.
- 28:43They lost to Dallas, I think at the playoffs.
- 28:45Sorry, their window closing at that point that Kawhi Leonard
- 28:48randomly gets extended out of nowhere.
- 28:49We were talking about Kawhi Leonard, I think the Knicks one
- 28:51offseason as a trade potential. And if it didn't work out with
- 28:55the Clippers over there, then even last year too.
- 28:58The Clippers are getting old. Obviously, Paul George leaves,
- 29:00he goes to Philly and oh, Kawhi Leonard still signs another
- 29:03random extension. All of a sudden now you see.
- 29:05Wait a second. They at one point had Russell
- 29:08West, Westbrook, they had James. Now they have James Harden, they
- 29:11extended James Harden and and again, money is no object to
- 29:14Steve Ballmer, but who wants to go and play for the Clippers?
- 29:17They're the the little brother of the LA Lakers.
- 29:20Say whatever you want. Luke is there.
- 29:22LeBron might not want to be there anymore.
- 29:24The Lakers are Showtime. That's what they are.
- 29:27The Clippers are baby time. Nobody cares about the LA
- 29:30Clippers. Yeah, and they're trying to,
- 29:32like, establish themselves in the weirdest ways by, like,
- 29:35making these special kinds of seats in their arena.
- 29:36Oh, we're going to go separate ourselves from the Staples
- 29:39Center and establish ourselves or something else from the
- 29:42Lakers, too. Meanwhile, the Clippers, if you
- 29:43look at the history of their franchise, I think before the
- 29:45Chris Paul, Blake Griffin era, they were as Putras.
- 29:48Yeah, but think about it. I call it Dock City because
- 29:51that's all it was pretty. They were docking.
- 29:53And then they were Choke City. Alley.
- 29:55That's right, that's right, that's right.
- 29:58They were docking, they were choking and they were dropping
- 30:01at the end. Yeah, dropping with injuries
- 30:04too, because Chris Paul couldn't stay healthy.
- 30:06Now quite a letter to Paul. George Kest, stay healthy.
- 30:08Yeah, that's that's your ownership right there.
- 30:10So So what does Steve Baldwin decide to do?
- 30:12Let's go manipulate by going against the salary cap, which is
- 30:16obviously illegal. Now, I've always had a loosely
- 30:18objection to the way the NBA salary cap works as it is where
- 30:21I think you're right. It's very lenient towards the
- 30:23players where it gives them way too much room to all right,
- 30:25maybe if they trade a contract or two to make it work, but
- 30:27there's no right real salary cap like it is in the NFL type thing
- 30:31and these guys are manipulating it to that.
- 30:33What I don't understand is why create a corporation?
- 30:36And I know it and me and Fish were going back and forth.
- 30:39We were trying to figure that out because it is $28 million.
- 30:42You can't hide $28 million. You're going to have to find a
- 30:45way to claim it. So that's probably why Ballmer
- 30:48had to create a some kind of aspiration corporation.
- 30:52But again, the way he did and the way he set it up, how did he
- 30:55not think that somehow or some way the NBA wasn't going to
- 31:00figure this out and wasn't going to investigate it?
- 31:02That's and, and Steve Ballmer's a very smart man.
- 31:05He is a businessman. So that's why I'm a little
- 31:08turned off on this story on why Ballmer actually thought that
- 31:13there was no way the NBA was going to figure this out.
- 31:15Now, the LJA is completely different from what the NBA was
- 31:20when we had David Stern running the organization.
- 31:23But Adam Silver is a guy that is going to sit back.
- 31:26He's going to sit around the round table and have LeBron
- 31:29James leading that table and say, hey, you know what?
- 31:32It's just $28 million, you know. There's got to there's got to be
- 31:36more to that 28 million. Like, and I don't know if you
- 31:39guys saw it, but Cuban was going back and forth with Pablo and
- 31:43like, you know, come on his show because Cuban, he was on the
- 31:46side of Ballmer, obviously. But you know how they used to
- 31:49get away with it too and not have to create corporations.
- 31:52They used to give it to churches and it was, it was big in
- 31:55college and they could, they could go help the church.
- 31:59And are you really going to come out?
- 32:00Mind you, it wasn't $28 million, but that's the way that they
- 32:04could funnel and hide it where it wasn't a big deal.
- 32:06So the kid would go, you know, to the church and be like, hey,
- 32:09he, you know, he helped, you know, pick up chairs or whatever
- 32:12and picking up chairs got him 5 grand or what?
- 32:14And that's so that's kind of how they did so.
- 32:17But 28 million of of somebody that is a business guy that gets
- 32:23it. Yeah, 2028 mil is probably a
- 32:25throw in the hat, which is is disgusting to even say.
- 32:29But for him it really is. And to show like all of like the
- 32:35debtors and all the other stuff that like went with it.
- 32:37It's there. It there's more to it.
- 32:40I just don't know what angle it it is.
- 32:43So it wasn't his company allegedly, right?
- 32:46He wasn't a founder of the company.
- 32:48The founders went down for wire fraud and in basically running
- 32:52Ponzi scheme type things against with their investors.
- 32:56But one of the investors was Ballmer.
- 32:59Ballmer invested $50 million and then curiously, not even in the
- 33:05middle of the season. He did that right before the
- 33:06season. Around the same time Kawhi
- 33:08Leonard signed his extension with the with the Clippers.
- 33:11If you remember, this is also the year I believe speedy Paul
- 33:14George. So there was a big emphasis on
- 33:16this and it looks like Kawhi and his people who listen, there's a
- 33:20lot of stories about Kawhi's people, they going back to his
- 33:23uncle with not playing with the quad.
- 33:25But we, we know the Kawhi's people might have been like,
- 33:28well, you know, we want a little bit more than the Max.
- 33:31And they were like, all right, fine.
- 33:32I got a company. I know this guy.
- 33:34I'll give him $50 million. He'll give you 28,000,000 / 4
- 33:39years. As long as you stay with us for
- 33:41four years, you keep that extra 28 million, you leave, that's a
- 33:45little sweetener you don't get. And that's like, OK, that's a
- 33:48nice little icing on the deal, now I'm coming.
- 33:51I wonder what Paul George got personally, because if Kawhi got
- 33:55that, what did Paul George get? Because it sounds like that's
- 33:58how he plays, right? This isn't the first time he's
- 34:01done something like that. There's no way.
- 34:04By the way, Fish, before you consider Jamie Lee of the comic
- 34:06Kawhi needs to retire. Yeah, him and Steve Ballmer's
- 34:09funding. Kawhi Leonard and Paul George
- 34:10did not. Play Paul George is a waste of
- 34:12space everywhere he's gone ever since that horrific injury with
- 34:16Team USA, He is, he's still a great player, but he hasn't been
- 34:19the same player when he was with Indiana and and again, going
- 34:23back to the whole Kawhi Leonard situation with Chris Paul and
- 34:27now even James Harden. What did James Harden just get
- 34:29in his extension? He just signed an extension with
- 34:32Ballmer and you know, James Harden all about money.
- 34:34It's always been about money or he would have stayed with OP
- 34:38did. You see his?
- 34:38Did you see his videos today? No, I haven't seen his videos.
- 34:43James Harden, there was a workout video like, oh, he's
- 34:45getting fat. Yeah, we, we called him James
- 34:48Fatten. That's what we called him on
- 34:49this show because he he got fat all the time.
- 34:52And by the way, I remember somebody, an ex NFL player that
- 34:55told me, Eric Coleman told me that he would take James Harden
- 34:59over Allen Iverson of all time, which was an absolute ridiculous
- 35:03statement. I, it was one of the worst, you
- 35:05know, back and forth banter when it came to sports media I've
- 35:09ever had with an ex athlete. And Eric, if you're listening to
- 35:12the show, which I know he's been in tuned to the show a couple of
- 35:15times, especially when I talk about his Atlanta Falcons and
- 35:19his New York Jets. He has come out and told me that
- 35:23I maybe I should do a little bit more investigation on his teams.
- 35:27Well, let me ask you a question. If you really thought that James
- 35:32Fatten was ever as good as AI, well, tell me what year it was
- 35:38because even at the tail end of Allen Iverson's career, Allen
- 35:42Iverson in his bad years was putting up almost 20 points a
- 35:46game and he was still the third or fourth guy that was playing
- 35:50on a very good team. So it made absolutely no sense.
- 35:53And I, and again, Eric Coleman has his own obviously thoughts
- 35:57when it comes to sports and and and basketball, because he says
- 36:01I know basketball just as much as I know football.
- 36:03Well, if you knew basketball as much as you know football, you
- 36:06definitely wouldn't take James Harden over AI.
- 36:09James Harden is not a top ten player of all time.
- 36:12Alan Iverson is so terrible statement, but James Harden, I
- 36:16guarantee you, guarantee you was paid being paid under the under
- 36:21the table because if you look at his contract, the contract is
- 36:25not in a huge extension. I think if I'm not mistaken, he
- 36:28signed a three-year extension and get me the numbers.
- 36:31Does anybody have it? That's something my producer
- 36:34should be doing. What the?
- 36:36The James Harden contract. The most recent?
- 36:37One his new contract that he just signed it.
- 36:41Was like 100 million for three years or something, yeah.
- 36:44Two year, 81 1/2. Yeah, 81 I just had pulled.
- 36:47Out 40 million a year. 40 million so you definitely I
- 36:50definitely believe he was getting paid.
- 36:51He's getting paid under the table at least 11:50 more
- 36:54$1,000,000 because think about. Isn't that what he's doing like?
- 36:58An average star is making every star in the NBA is making 50
- 37:03million or more. If you look at it, if you look
- 37:05at the numbers and it all started with game time.
- 37:08Game time was making. He he got an extension with
- 37:11Portland worth about 60 million a year.
- 37:14Then he went over there to Milwaukee and now he's back with
- 37:17Portland, which makes no sense by the way.
- 37:19But nevertheless, that was when we saw the transition of these
- 37:23extension in these big one year, 2 year contracts that these
- 37:27players are getting. And now the average star in the
- 37:30NBA is making 50 million or more.
- 37:32So you're going to tell me right now James Harden, really,
- 37:35because Kawhi Leonard is back and forth and he's not 100%
- 37:38healthy. James Harden, who is the best
- 37:40player on the Clippers right now, isn't getting 50 million or
- 37:43more. Come on, guys, come on.
- 37:45Especially the way the Clippers love to load manage everything
- 37:47and the way James Harden likes to.
- 37:48Make Ballmer is not cheaping out on this one.
- 37:51No, he's not cheaping out, he's just paying him in different
- 37:53ways to say all right, we have enough cap space to go get a
- 37:56random all washed up old guy again.
- 37:58Well, James Harden. James Harden's Not that.
- 38:00Bad speed. No, he's fine.
- 38:02No, I'm saying who's going to be pairing with James Harden
- 38:04because the Clippers don't develop young players around.
- 38:06He doesn't play any. He doesn't play a lick of
- 38:08defense, but. The guy offense.
- 38:10That's what's happened to him in the last five years is the
- 38:12defense went. He was never a good defensive.
- 38:15Right. But at least he was he was a
- 38:16high effort defensive. Oh yeah, high at times.
- 38:19He'll stop at the foul. Line at times.
- 38:21He'll stop at the foul line and let you run past.
- 38:23Not a game sevens, but at times. Listen.
- 38:26James Sardis has missed 12 threes.
- 38:28He he was like the players were like a ball and he was like with
- 38:32the guy with the red sash. Oh, hey, oh, hey, that's what
- 38:35James Harden would do, play defense.
- 38:37He let you run right past him. It didn't matter to him as long
- 38:40as he get his. 50 The Matador. The matador, that's what it is.
- 38:44That was his name is Strip. Club So here's my problem with
- 38:46all this. If Kawhi Leonard gets a Max
- 38:49contract in the NBA but also receives $28 million on top of
- 38:55it, doesn't that mean the market says that Kawhi Leonard is worth
- 39:00$28 million more than a Max contract?
- 39:03And shouldn't he be allowed to make that money?
- 39:07Because if not, you are intentionally gaming the market
- 39:11to keep players salaries down. That's why people argue against
- 39:15the salary cap. And that's Kawhi Leonard, who is
- 39:17past his prime. Think about what we're, you
- 39:20know, we said when LeBron was at the height of his powers, how
- 39:23much he really should have been getting paid.
- 39:25That guy shouldn't have gotten a Max contract.
- 39:27He should have made been making over $100 million a year for
- 39:30about a decade straight because that's what that guy was really
- 39:34worth if he was out on an open market getting that kind of
- 39:38money. And that's not even including,
- 39:41you know, his side projects and all those things, you know, his
- 39:44movie studio company, you know, you know, that's what happens.
- 39:48His movie studio, his Blaze Pizza Company, I mean,
- 39:52everything. The man owns LA.
- 39:54Red wine. Hyperbaric chambers.
- 39:56He's he's Magic Johnson S Magic Johnson owns everything.
- 40:00He owns movie theaters, he owns sports teams, he owns pizza
- 40:04delivery companies, he owns Uber companies.
- 40:08I mean that guy is is a multi multi multi billionaire by all
- 40:13the companies he has built around his basketball career and
- 40:17LeBron. He's doing the same thing as
- 40:18he's come out and said when he's done with basketball, he's going
- 40:21to own an NBA team, AKA Alex Rodriguez as he owns the
- 40:24Timberwolves. So not surprised when you're
- 40:28hearing stories like this as NBA players are bringing in a brush
- 40:32fire of money. And I'm telling you 50 million,
- 40:35just think about it, $50 million for 82 games.
- 40:39Most of these guys don't even make the playoffs.
- 40:41Think about that. You're you're talking about guys
- 40:44like Trey Young, right? He plays for the Atlanta Hawks.
- 40:48The Atlanta Hawks are not a really good basketball.
- 40:51They're up and down. How many times in the last 7-8
- 40:54years have they made the playoffs?
- 40:553 Just think about it. He's been in the NBA for almost
- 40:597 years. Trey Young Trey Young has made
- 41:01the playoffs for three out of the seven years, if I'm not
- 41:05mistaken. And they, like the all the other
- 41:06years they were a play in team like they weren't even that
- 41:09good. And he's bringing in almost 40
- 41:11something $50 million and the guy hasn't even really got his
- 41:14next extension. It's ridiculous.
- 41:16Steph Curry just signed a $275 million contract.
- 41:20What was it 2 years ago? It's crazy.
- 41:23It's crazy amount of money. This is Monopoly money.
- 41:26The NBA is Monopoly. All they got to do is jump from
- 41:29one place to another, 01 whore to the other as we all know NBA
- 41:33players like to do as Will Chamberlain.
- 41:36I don't know if anyone can top that record 10,000 women as he's
- 41:41come out and say. Sure, it was a round Number of
- 41:4410,000, you know. He said 10,000 women.
- 41:46Right rounded up fish, it's a 10,000.
- 41:47You think he was at 9999? He must have only one more.
- 41:51That's it. I'm done after this one.
- 41:54That's the number I was shooting for.
- 41:56I'm going to stop it. Exactly, he was.
- 41:57Final push Will Chamberlain was counting women who he was
- 42:01sleeping with, and Bill Russell was counting championships.
- 42:04That's the difference. How many rings?
- 42:09Do you think he do you think he counted like because there ain't
- 42:12no chance it was just one at a time?
- 42:14Do you think like if there was like a group of me counted that
- 42:16as one or did he count that as like if there was 4, did he
- 42:20count it as 4? Did he count the stats job?
- 42:22I'm going to. Have.
- 42:23How many days does it take to count that you know, like?
- 42:27First of all, does he have like a clicker?
- 42:28Did he write it down or? Yeah, what do you do?
- 42:30I'm very high. I mean, no computers back then.
- 42:32Maybe a typewriter? Remember that commercial?
- 42:35How many licks does it get to the center of a Tootsie Roll pop
- 42:39and it's 123. I don't know if if he was
- 42:43licking that many times he would get to the end of the Tootsie
- 42:46Roll pop when it came to these women.
- 42:49It said it claimed in a 1991 autobiography, A View From
- 42:54Above, he slept with 20,000 women on.
- 42:57Life, that's even more. Multiplied by two.
- 43:00Still round Number though. Still a round Number.
- 43:03Yeah, you're right. Fish.
- 43:04How did it? How did it not fall off?
- 43:07Well, I mean the man. You know what his nickname was?
- 43:11You know what his nickname was? His nickname was Goliath.
- 43:14Wilt the still? No, it was Goliath.
- 43:16That was his nickname. They called him Goliath, so
- 43:20David and Goliath, you know, he was the biggest man in many
- 43:24different ways. Speeding.
- 43:25You might know I. Would not know, but I'm sure,
- 43:27I'm sure if Nathan, if Nathan has access to time travel, he
- 43:30might want to live that life. You know they say that if that
- 43:34story was true. David, I love Lisa Ann.
- 43:36Throw the rock at like the speed of a bullet, almost with like
- 43:40one of those slingshots. I saw like one of those
- 43:41Mythbusters how fast you could throw a rock like that.
- 43:44Pretty fast. You can throw like through some
- 43:47stuff. It's pretty crazy.
- 43:48I'm not throwing any rocks at Wilt Chamberlain if he was still
- 43:51alive, because I would be afraid he'd grab me with his palm of
- 43:54his hand and take me and throw me 50 miles away.
- 43:57I mean, that guy's hands were bigger than Shaquille O'Neal.
- 44:00Think about that. You.
- 44:02I don't know if anybody's met or seen Shaquille O'Neal in person.
- 44:05His hands are ridiculous. Just think about.
- 44:08He shook my elbow. You shook your elbow.
- 44:12Very specific. Yeah, hey, Jabba, what a nice
- 44:16elbow you have over there. It was unlike he he we stood up
- 44:20and I was like, OK, here we go. And then like shook my hand and
- 44:24I was like whoa. He was so nice though.
- 44:28And then he took off and just walked down the street and went
- 44:30back to his hotel. Whoa, I like that song.
- 44:33Like, whoa. All right, ladies and gentlemen,
- 44:38we're moving on to the next segment as we are getting in to
- 44:42our AFC preview. Duty Dodger.
- 44:49Pass Liquor. All right, let's go, baby.
- 44:51Let's go AFC. All right, we have the division
- 44:55betting odds up for all of the. AFC we already.
- 44:59Talked about the AFC West previously.
- 45:04Well, a lot of us, we're not picking the Kansas City Chiefs
- 45:08to be the favorites, but they are the favorite still at -110
- 45:12in the West. The Broncos sitting at 2nd at
- 45:14plus 280. A lot of us pick them.
- 45:16The Chargers not far behind, plus 340.
- 45:19Pretty loaded division this year.
- 45:20Raiders not much of a chance at plus 1100 like all of us said.
- 45:25So let's begin our talk tonight about the AFC SA, particularly
- 45:33strong division. You got the Titans, the Colts,
- 45:35the Texans and Jaguars. Who do we think is the favorite?
- 45:40The Houston Texans, 100% it's going to be the Houston Texans.
- 45:44CJ Strout and and a guy that his sophomore year wasn't as strong
- 45:49as his freshman year, but it was pretty damn good.
- 45:51CJ Strout is absolutely for real.
- 45:54Nico Collins is one of the best underrated wide receivers in the
- 45:58league. You can see it if you play in
- 46:00fantasy right now. He's one of the top five fantasy
- 46:03guys right now. And, and honestly, when you look
- 46:06at the weapons that they have and, and what they're going to
- 46:08provide this year, they don't have the running game with Joe
- 46:11Mixon, but they added Chubb. I think Chubb is going to give
- 46:14him a significant decent running game.
- 46:16But again, Cesar Shroud is a guy that's not only a pocket present
- 46:20quarterback, he's going to step in, he's going to step out.
- 46:22He's going to use his legs. He's got a tremendous amount of
- 46:25weapons. And and by the way, one of the
- 46:27more underrated defenses in all of football, Top five top 6
- 46:31defenses in football. I love the Texans in this
- 46:35division. I could see them winning 10 or
- 46:3611 games. Yeah, definitely 10 or 11 games
- 46:38has to be the window when you look at the way that they've
- 46:41improved a lot on that front 7. They're one of the best probably
- 46:43pass rushing duos. When you look at Danielle Hunter
- 46:45and Will Anderson, combined with the fact that, like you're
- 46:48saying, even though they have some receivers hurt, they still
- 46:49draft the two of them. The only thing that concerns me
- 46:51a little bit is the offensive line.
- 46:53Obviously losing tonsil in the offseason.
- 46:54They haven't really drafted well at those positions.
- 46:56They have a couple rookies that they're trying to work in, so
- 46:59that might be the only thing holding them back from maybe
- 47:01taking that big leap like we're thinking the Broncos could do.
- 47:03But their defense is very complete, too.
- 47:05Obviously paying Stingley, Jalen Petrie is a very underrated
- 47:07safety as well, and they're a linebacker factory with Tobecca.
- 47:10Ryan's there. I love Ryan's and Ryan's is one
- 47:13of the guys that I think was up for coach of the year last year.
- 47:17Very well deserved to be a top three coach of the year and had
- 47:21a chance again to take his team far into the playoffs again.
- 47:25They they had a lot of injuries last year.
- 47:27They're going into the season with some some losses and their
- 47:31wide receiving core that they thought they were going to have
- 47:34for the next three to four years.
- 47:35They're missing one big name they did have they did add
- 47:39Hollins in the draft. I think Hollins is going to play
- 47:42a big part in their offense. He could be the number 2 on this
- 47:45team with Nico, Nico Collins. We'll see.
- 47:47But I I like the Texans. I think they're going to be
- 47:49explosive and and again, a defense, they can shut you down.
- 47:54Yeah, I think CJ Stroud is just going to get better, too.
- 47:57I think it's always funny when you talk about like coaches of
- 47:59the year, too. And I know it's kind of a side
- 48:00note, but like, what do you think?
- 48:02Like sets, Like he's deserving of coach of the year, but like
- 48:05there's got to be something that sets like him apart.
- 48:07Like the X's and O's are just like what he's he's built with
- 48:11the team. There's There were no
- 48:12expectations for that Texans team in 2023 when they made the
- 48:16playoffs. They were supposed to be.
- 48:18They were the number three pick in the draft.
- 48:19They dropped the Will Anderson. They traded up.
- 48:21They had expectations to improve, but they were never
- 48:24expected to be anywhere close to a playoff team.
- 48:28Don't forget about their special teams being pretty excellent as
- 48:30well. You got Amy Fairbear and one of
- 48:33the bigger legs in the NFL, Townsend, pretty good punter.
- 48:36They were ranked 6th, tied for 6th in the NFL specials as well.
- 48:40It's just a really well coached team with some really good young
- 48:43talent. Expecting them to get better.
- 48:45I love the two Iowa State receivers they took, especially
- 48:48Higgins. I think they're going to both
- 48:50play a big impact with them if that passing game really takes
- 48:53off this year. So they're the favorites, but
- 48:54they're the only favorite in the AFC that you can get it plus
- 48:58money guys. So that might, if you really
- 49:00believe in the Texans, you can get them.
- 49:02Currently on FanDuel at plus 1/15.
- 49:07After that, we got the Jaguars coming in at plus 260 and the
- 49:11Colts at plus 340. Not a lot of faith in Cam Ward
- 49:15in this first year. Titans are sitting in the last
- 49:19+700. Probably not good news for Brian
- 49:21Callahan and the staff over there.
- 49:23Well, I will say this. They have a great defense.
- 49:25This is a defense that was one of the top 10 defenses in the
- 49:28league. Tennessee has Jeffrey Simmons,
- 49:31who's a great pass rusher, one of the best sack leaders when it
- 49:35comes to defensive lines in all of football, and they're going
- 49:38to be able to get at you. The problem with them is
- 49:40offensively, they have a young quarterback in Ward and they do
- 49:44have Ridley. Calvin Ridley is good.
- 49:46They added Tyler Lockett in the offseason and and they do who
- 49:49have a pretty decent running game.
- 49:51The problem with them is are you going to depend on a guy like
- 49:54Tony Pollard all season long who can't stay healthy, is second
- 49:57year coach who almost lost his job in the offseason.
- 50:00So I I don't know if, if if he starts the season very, very
- 50:04slow and he doesn't have, you know, put off at least one or
- 50:08two wins in his first five or six games.
- 50:10Do they fire their head coach? That is the question.
- 50:13And, and like I said over the last last couple of weeks, I've
- 50:16heard he was on the hot seat in the offseason.
- 50:18So very interesting story with the Tennessee Titans.
- 50:21You're right, the defense is definitely strong in the front
- 50:237. They've tended to develop well
- 50:24when it comes to their their pass rush.
- 50:26Obviously losing Harold Landry could hurt, but they've lost him
- 50:29a lot of the 2023 season frables last year and their defense was
- 50:31still very good. Offensive line is still a little
- 50:33questionable. They don't haven't drafted as
- 50:35well as they usually do when it comes to that and that's going
- 50:37to be a big key for Cam Ward. Is he going to be able to extend
- 50:39plays right away? Tony Pollard, you're right, he's
- 50:42kind of an inconsistent runner as a pure runner.
- 50:44And Ty J Spears, he's already heard.
- 50:45Where are they going to get the kind of depth I kind of see like
- 50:47a six win team. They'll improve, but they're not
- 50:49there yet. No, I'm interested to see what
- 50:52Cam Ward does, if he, if he can slow the game down, Obviously
- 50:55the jump from college to NFL to see if he can slow down.
- 50:58Obviously he seems like he has the demeanor throughout all of
- 51:01his interviews and the way he conducts himself.
- 51:03And you know, how he's focused in what he, his preparation for
- 51:07the game and, and how he's talked about it.
- 51:09And yeah, it's, it's always like when you when you're doing these
- 51:12fantasy dresses as we all talk about, it's like, OK, you're
- 51:15going to get certain guys. Pollard's one of those guys.
- 51:16When is he going to get hurt? It's not, it's not if, it's,
- 51:19it's when. And so I think, yeah, probably 5
- 51:22or 6. But I'm interested to see how
- 51:24Cam reacts to the NFL and and makes the adjustment.
- 51:27I think that second best team right now is the Jacksonville
- 51:29Jaguars in the South. I I really do believe that.
- 51:32The question is, is their defense going to be able to hold
- 51:35up? It's been a big problem back and
- 51:37forth over the last two seasons. Liam Cohen is a is a young
- 51:41coach. He's taking over.
- 51:43He's a good, smart coach. But they have multiple running
- 51:46backs and Travis Etienne is not the number one guy anymore.
- 51:50They've got three. They got a triple headed monster
- 51:54and we don't know. And if you're a drafter, you're
- 51:56not drafting any one of these guys because you don't know
- 51:58who's going to start and who's going to finish.
- 52:00And again, Brian Thomas is sensational.
- 52:03I think he's one of the more underrated young wide receivers
- 52:06in the league. And I said it three years from
- 52:08now, this guy's going to be the number one run wide receiver in
- 52:11all the fantasy. This guy is so explosive.
- 52:13Look who was throwing him the ball last year.
- 52:16It wasn't even yes, Mr. Trevor Lawrence, So and, and this guy
- 52:20put on, they had 12 touchdowns or 11 touchdowns and he had over
- 52:231200 yards and he didn't even have him.
- 52:25He had Mac Jones throwing him the ball.
- 52:27Trevor Lawrence has got to stay healthy.
- 52:28This is his chance right now under Liam Cohen to show and
- 52:32prove himself to be a franchise quarterback.
- 52:35And here's another thing that I'm going to say, Travis, AKA
- 52:38Gremlin himself, he needs to show up and play 2 headed the
- 52:45type of football defensively and offensively.
- 52:48Yes, ladies and gentlemen, Travis the Gremlin hunter, the
- 52:52Unicorn, as he calls himself needs to show up week by week
- 52:56depending if he's playing defense or he's playing offense.
- 52:59He has said that he's going to be more of a wide receiver this
- 53:02year than a corner. I think Mr. Liam Cohen should
- 53:05have chose corner over wide receiver.
- 53:08I just don't know if he's going to hold up and he's going to be
- 53:11the player. That didn't come out that he was
- 53:13wide receiver 1 and cornerback 2.
- 53:15Wide receiver Two No. He's wide receiver 2 and he's
- 53:19going to play probably in sub packages in I don't know if he's
- 53:22going to be in the slaughter outside speedy.
- 53:24I would imagine they probably put.
- 53:25Him Jordan Lewis they sign he was the cowboy slot corner so I
- 53:28don't know even he might rotate in some.
- 53:30I think there may be some like they may play some like 425
- 53:34stuff where there's there's a lot of D backs.
- 53:37He's not. A lot of teams are playing a lot
- 53:38of. Are you still thinking like the
- 53:4060, sixty, 70% mark on the defensive side?
- 53:43If he grows, he should. That's what he should be doing.
- 53:47Well, you guys find Thomas, they're everything they're
- 53:49saying is he's #2 receiver, he's going to play more than half the
- 53:52snaps of receiver and he's only going to be in sub packages.
- 53:55So that probably is about 1/3 of the time on on defense.
- 53:59So that add those things up together, you might get to that
- 54:01high 60s Java like you're saying, but his his first year,
- 54:05I don't think they're going to want him to go that high and I
- 54:07don't think they want him to go that high in general.
- 54:10But you know, this guy is a one-of-a-kind guy and he had to
- 54:14say that you're going to do this with him if he was going to go
- 54:16there in the draft, right? So.
- 54:18Brian Thomas is going to be the number one, and Travis, AKA
- 54:22Gremlin Hunter is never going to be the number one over there as
- 54:25long as Brian Thomas is there. This guy is so explosive.
- 54:28He's going to be so fun to watch.
- 54:30Anybody that drafted him in your draft, you're looking and
- 54:34searching for a treat this year. He's your treat.
- 54:37He's a nice ice cream sundae that you can put extra fudge on
- 54:41because this guy's going to have 14 touchdowns if Trevor Lawrence
- 54:44stays healthy. 1415 touchdowns, 14, 1500 yards, and he's going
- 54:50to be up for one of the offensive players of the year.
- 54:52I'm telling you, he's that kind of player, fun to watch and he's
- 54:56going to be able to go out there and put up those numbers.
- 54:58Errol, you mentioned it to the second level talent on this
- 55:00Jaguars team definitely screams like it could be a borderline
- 55:03playoff team. Just the trenches, the
- 55:06defensive. Side to the secondary to you're
- 55:10going to bet the Travis the gremlin hunter is going to be
- 55:13able to play two way football and he's going to have to be
- 55:16your number one corner possibly because your corner play is
- 55:20really there's no depth on that team right really not I like.
- 55:23Tyson Campbell's in #1 corner, but after that they're very
- 55:25questionable. They they signed as as a safety
- 55:28Darnell Savage from Green Bay who's played well, but he's also
- 55:30injury prone. And then their pass rush too.
- 55:32Outside of Josh Allen, Eric Armstead's been injury prone and
- 55:36Trayvon Walker's been a bust of a number one pick.
- 55:38Yeah, absolutely. And then got got a job.
- 55:42No, no, it's just I fishy kind of said it's like, yeah, he may
- 55:48be capable to do it, but do you really want him doing that in
- 55:51his first year? Like, and especially like you
- 55:52said, there's just no depth in in, in what they're going to do.
- 55:55So what I mean, one of your main attractions is obviously to, to
- 55:59your team, but I mean, I'm, I don't think I'm risking, you
- 56:02know, getting 60s, you know, 70% what I mean, we've had guys say
- 56:07it's, it's going to be that 60 to 70% mark that have that have
- 56:09played in the league. So I I don't know.
- 56:12I'm going, I'm putting at the corner position.
- 56:14That's where they need the depth.
- 56:16He is better as a corner than a wide receiver.
- 56:19I think they're making a mistake.
- 56:20I'm telling you, I think they're making a mistake.
- 56:22But hey, I'm not a coach in the NFL.
- 56:24We'll, we'll see what Mr. Cohen's going to do at the end
- 56:27of the season when the media is going to attack him and say,
- 56:30well, I don't know if you should have done it this way.
- 56:32I think he should have went the other route well.
- 56:36You know, Cohen was pretty Dang good with Baker Mayfield, so I
- 56:39I'm willing to give him a shot with that kind of firepower.
- 56:42If Hunter is, you know, maybe not.
- 56:44So was Canalis. What did Canalis do with
- 56:46Carolina last year? Well, I mean, look, you got
- 56:49Brian Thomas, you got toys. You look, they didn't have toys
- 56:52over there, right? They they realize they can kind
- 56:53of use Bryce Young by the end of the season.
- 56:55There's some toys over here. If they can get Trevor Lawrence
- 56:58to play halfway decent, and that's going to be the story of
- 57:01their season. If he can play halfway decent,
- 57:03they get a shot at this division.
- 57:04They really do. And then there's you're
- 57:05absolutely right. And then there's the Colts and
- 57:07the Colts, no Richardson this year, Daniel Dimes, Danny Dimes
- 57:13is now the starting quarterback. And then the question.
- 57:16A lot of Giant fans don't like it, but I think he has an
- 57:19opportunity now with a better coach, a guy that I think will
- 57:22be able to run his offense through Daniel Jones and a great
- 57:26running game. Jonathan Taylor this year is
- 57:28healthy. No contract disputes this guy.
- 57:31It could be up for an MVP. This guy is explosive.
- 57:35He could put up the numbers. He could go out there and
- 57:37absolutely dominate a game and really kill a game.
- 57:40And by the way, Indiana has a very good offensive line.
- 57:45This is a very good often offensive like Quinton Nelson.
- 57:49They've got a tremendous offensive line from the tackles
- 57:52position to the garden center position.
- 57:54So I like it and their defense a little questionable, but I think
- 57:59they're they're running game and they have Pittman.
- 58:01I think they're going to have a a pretty good depth offensively.
- 58:05And Daniel Jones, if he stays healthy, and we might see Riley
- 58:08Leonard this year if he goes down.
- 58:09Hopefully Richardson, we don't see him at all this year.
- 58:12He was an absolute bust. But I think Daniel, Daniel Jones
- 58:15is going to have a better year than people think, yeah.
- 58:17Last year they were very close with a really bad defense and
- 58:20they're trying to make patch things together at both corner
- 58:22and on the defensive line. They bring in Xavion, Howard,
- 58:24Charvarius were trying to reverse Rebirth, some veteran
- 58:26corners and they had. They've had trouble drafting
- 58:29Edge rosters really since they had Frannie and Mathis.
- 58:31It's been a curse for them for a while.
- 58:32They're good linebacker, but you're right that offensive line
- 58:34is top ten in football. Braden Smith's a very good one
- 58:37for an on Ryman who is on my all 22 team.
- 58:39Last year was very good and like you said, Daniel Jones is just a
- 58:42better thrower of the football. So they're going to be a little
- 58:44more efficient than Anthony Richardson.
- 58:46How much more is it going to be the question that'll be the
- 58:47difference in the making the playoffs?
- 58:49And I don't want everybody to jump on this that I think Danny
- 58:51Dimes is going to put up 4000 yards and he's going to run for
- 58:55like 8 touchdowns. All I'm saying is he's going to
- 58:58be efficient. He's going to put up decent
- 59:00numbers. And if you need a quarterback in
- 59:02your fan Tennessee league, if it's 14 or even 16 teams, you
- 59:07can pick up a guy like Danny Dimes and and maybe depend 3000
- 59:10yards or 3200 yards, 8 touchdowns, 7 touchdowns run in
- 59:15and maybe 700 yards when it comes to mobile because he's a
- 59:18mobile quarterback that can make plays in the open field.
- 59:21Giant fans know that. Well, he could before he got
- 59:25hurt, you know, And then he got hurt and then he wasn't as good
- 59:29and not as accurate and he can't hit anybody in the preseason, if
- 59:32you watched any of the games, he doesn't he hit, he misses open
- 59:34receivers like looking like arch man you.
- 59:37Just hate 1 Daniel Jones because he was a.
- 59:40Giant, tell me if I'm wrong. He missed everybody in the
- 59:42preseason. Wide open guys, you hate him.
- 59:44It doesn't matter if he was good, it's preseason, nobody
- 59:48cares. Watched him for a number of
- 59:50years. So he does not know how to run
- 59:53an offense that works in the NFL.
- 59:56I don't expect them. This is how they're going to
- 59:58win. He throws the ball 15 * a game.
- 1:00:02Jonathan Stewart gets 37 carries behind a great offensive line
- 1:00:07and they play 1980s and 1990s football.
- 1:00:10That's the only way they're winning with Daniel Jones
- 1:00:12record. And you're right, Speedy.
- 1:00:13He's better than Anthony Richard.
- 1:00:15Jonathan, but that. Says a lot about Anthony
- 1:00:17Richard. Not retired.
- 1:00:19He's come a long way since you guys interviewed at the Super
- 1:00:21Bowl. He.
- 1:00:21Retired. He was playing, he was walking
- 1:00:24around with his backpack over there.
- 1:00:26Radio raw, that's as close as he's going to get to a football
- 1:00:29field and hopefully he has some footballs in that basketball
- 1:00:32bag. So I honestly Daniel Jones is
- 1:00:35not as bad as you think he is, but hey, only time will tell.
- 1:00:39True that. All right, so let's get to the
- 1:00:41next division. We got and we only got about 8
- 1:00:44minutes for this, so we're going to go a little quicker.
- 1:00:46Right now. We've got the AFC North.
- 1:00:49Everyone knows the Browns are terrible.
- 1:00:51Let's start there. How bad do you think the odds
- 1:00:53are? Let's just guess For the Browns
- 1:00:55to win that division. 1700? No worse.
- 1:00:59Really. Plus 2200.
- 1:01:01Worse. 5. 1000 No 3000 + 3000 for the Browns to win, I'm
- 1:01:09betting on you want to talk about that debacle?
- 1:01:11You want to just move. On No, let's move on.
- 1:01:12I, I think they're going to be really, really bad and, and
- 1:01:15honestly. I think it's obvious.
- 1:01:17I'm interested to see what they're going to do with Jerry
- 1:01:19Judy. If he starts off really strong,
- 1:01:20do they move him at the trade deadline because Jerry Judy
- 1:01:23might? Be a nice He was good because
- 1:01:24Jamis was throwing jump balls to him.
- 1:01:26And let's face it, no, they don't have Jamis throwing to him
- 1:01:29right now. How long before Jamis just goes
- 1:01:31to the media? Like stop trying to be a
- 1:01:34quarterback at this point. I think it's going to be soon
- 1:01:36and I think he's going to be great with the media.
- 1:01:38Joe Flacco is not a bad quarterback, and I think he's
- 1:01:40going to be able to. Get How long is he going to stay
- 1:01:42healthy at age 40, though? That's fine, That's fine.
- 1:01:45I think Jerry Judy is going to have a better year than you
- 1:01:48think he's going to have. I just.
- 1:01:49Don't think it's going to be as good as last year.
- 1:01:51I think if they, if you're hoping that that guy who's never
- 1:01:53shown that he was that good, you know, to do that, I don't know,
- 1:01:56but they got the Steelers at plus 550.
- 1:01:59Not a lot of faith in your boy a Rod Errol after his performance
- 1:02:04in MetLife Stadium last year. I like the kid Johnson that they
- 1:02:07drafted in the third round. The running back.
- 1:02:09I think he I think he's going to be the starting running back.
- 1:02:12I know everybody keeps thinking that it's going to be Warren and
- 1:02:15he's going to run away with the because he could be a three back
- 1:02:18type of running back and that's why they decided to move Naji
- 1:02:20Harris and not bring him back. I think obviously it's going to
- 1:02:24be Johnson. I think he's going to be the
- 1:02:25number one guy and it's going to be Warren again, where you're
- 1:02:27going to be able to move him around.
- 1:02:29He can catch the ball in the backfield.
- 1:02:30The question is who's the number two guy as the wide receiver?
- 1:02:33You know, DK Metcalf is there. We understand that they have two
- 1:02:36tight ends there. Their offensive line is fairly
- 1:02:39good. And Mike Tomlin is this his
- 1:02:41final year? Because I know he's under
- 1:02:43contract. I know he extended his contract,
- 1:02:45but if he has another year where he gets knocked out if they
- 1:02:49don't make the playoffs, but if they make the playoffs and get
- 1:02:51knocked out in the first round, Oh my God, yeah.
- 1:02:54You can't bring them back nine straight years being knocked out
- 1:02:57in the first round. I I just, there's there's no
- 1:02:59depth. They're a good defensive team.
- 1:03:01They're always a great defensive team With TJ Watt there, they're
- 1:03:04going to be explosive on the defensive line.
- 1:03:06And they have very good secretary in Porter as well.
- 1:03:08So I think they're going to be fine.
- 1:03:10And they made that trade for, you know, trading.
- 1:03:13Was it Fitzpatrick in the offseason?
- 1:03:15Yeah. So, Jalen Ramsey, your boy.
- 1:03:17Jalen Ramsey is going to play a big part on the secondary and
- 1:03:20the defensive side of the ball. I think they're going to be a
- 1:03:22prolific top end defense, but offensively are they going to be
- 1:03:26able to do enough? Are they?
- 1:03:27And I think they're structured to just be an all world running
- 1:03:30team. A guy like Aaron Rodgers isn't
- 1:03:33the same guy he was when he was with Green Bay.
- 1:03:35Yeah, it's a bad fit because also DK Metcalf wants to stretch
- 1:03:38the field and he doesn't really have an elaborate route tree
- 1:03:40like the whole thing on different levels and Aaron
- 1:03:43Rodgers needs that type of guy at this point in his career.
- 1:03:46Fish. Well, you were mentioning with
- 1:03:47the tight ends too. I was curious on like, maybe
- 1:03:49they do they go that right? I love Darnell Washington out of
- 1:03:51the draft at the time when they got him, he's been a lot of
- 1:03:53injury issues. He's still got Friar, moved
- 1:03:55there. Now you got John Smith.
- 1:03:56So I see an 8-9 win team. Yeah, I, I don't know if it's
- 1:03:59going to be that that good job. What do you think?
- 1:04:02Yeah, I, I kind of, I kind of just want to see Aaron Rodgers
- 1:04:06go give the big middle finger to everybody, to be honest with
- 1:04:08you, just because I think it'll be hilarious.
- 1:04:11But I, I think they'll probably, he'll find a way to scratch
- 1:04:16probably seven or eight wins. I I don't see any more than
- 1:04:20that. I think it's the last year at
- 1:04:21Tomlin, right this, If they don't get to 500, be the first
- 1:04:25time in his career. I think that's going to happen
- 1:04:27this year. I don't think, I think he's
- 1:04:29going to be the thing he's going to be out.
- 1:04:31But let's move on to the top two teams in this division.
- 1:04:35The Ravens are sitting at -150 at the top of the division with
- 1:04:39the Bengals, I'm assuming with no faith in their defense
- 1:04:42whatsoever, at plus 240, despite the fact Joe Burrow might be a
- 1:04:47guy you can throw 5000 yards this year.
- 1:04:48Derrick Henry has to stay healthy.
- 1:04:50They need Derrick Henry to stay healthy and do not exactly what
- 1:04:53he did last year. But Lamar Jackson, we know what
- 1:04:56he can do offensively, the defense is going to be elite.
- 1:04:59We know they can go at it and they can they can compete with
- 1:05:02anybody offensively and defensively.
- 1:05:04I they're, they're a good running team.
- 1:05:06The question is, and I'll go back to it, the depth of their
- 1:05:10wide receiving corps. Do they have enough?
- 1:05:13They couldn't really show up in the playoffs.
- 1:05:15They haven't showed up in the playoffs back-to-back years.
- 1:05:18As far as the wide receivers are concerned, if they show Bateman
- 1:05:22stays healthy and they can do more on the offensive side of
- 1:05:25the ball with deep throats, Baltimore is going to be the
- 1:05:28best team in the AFCI. Don't think you can argue that.
- 1:05:30They've got everything and Lamar Jackson is by far the best wide,
- 1:05:35the best best quarterback in the NFLI.
- 1:05:37Don't think you could argue that.
- 1:05:39Two way guy that can use mobility and his arm strength to
- 1:05:43dominate a game. Yeah, the defense filled with
- 1:05:45the biggest thing they need and Malachi starts out of the draft.
- 1:05:47They had trouble guarding slot receivers.
- 1:05:49They get more corner depth as well.
- 1:05:50Bringing in Jair Alexander. Receiving depth, I agree with
- 1:05:53you, is a bit of a concern. We'll see what DeAndre Hopkins
- 1:05:55is, but Bateman when he was healthy last year was very good.
- 1:05:57I agree this is the best team in the AFC if they could stay
- 1:05:59healthy. And the Bengals, by the way,
- 1:06:02they got nothing defensively. I have no idea, no idea how
- 1:06:08they're gonna stop any other team.
- 1:06:09They're gonna have to put up 4050 parts, which they can.
- 1:06:12Joe Burrow, Higgins and and obviously Jamar Chase they got,
- 1:06:17I got Chase Brown, who could probably run the ball and he's
- 1:06:20so overrated. I don't know why anybody thinks
- 1:06:23a guy like Chase Brown is one of the elite running backs in the
- 1:06:26league, but nevertheless, the offensive lines and they're
- 1:06:29going to be able to put up points defensively.
- 1:06:31Trey Hendrickson might not even stay there.
- 1:06:33They might be traded at the trade deadline.
- 1:06:35They did extend them. They gave him a one year, $30
- 1:06:37million deal. I, I think he's underpaid for,
- 1:06:40to me, one of the best pass rushers in all the football.
- 1:06:42So that's what I got to say about the Bengals.
- 1:06:44They're not even making the playoffs.
- 1:06:46I I think they fall out, they miss the playoffs.
- 1:06:50Yeah, I mean, I do Before we move on, I do like Lamar Jackson
- 1:06:55being able to address what people said he wasn't great at.
- 1:06:58And he's becoming above average thrower now.
- 1:07:01So hats off to him. To be able to spread the floor,
- 1:07:03the floor spread the field. To be able to not only be 1
- 1:07:07dimensional, but but go and do the yeah floor field.
- 1:07:10Same thing, right? Before we get to the AFC East
- 1:07:14and Errol gets to spend some time on The Jets.
- 1:07:17No, I'm not going to spend too much.
- 1:07:18Time I I have to show you what ChatGPT thinks of the Indiana
- 1:07:23Jones version of Daniel Jones over here coming in with the
- 1:07:28whip into Indy trying to get to the AFC S title all right not
- 1:07:34really here we go guys to the AFC East.
- 1:07:38How bad do you think The Jets are?
- 1:07:40Fate are dogs in this division? I will say this, losing Elijah
- 1:07:45Vera Tucker today for the season definitely hurts the New York
- 1:07:49Jets, especially what they're going to do with Justin Fields
- 1:07:51and running the ball. You expected that this offensive
- 1:07:54line is going to be the strength of this team.
- 1:07:55I still think it's a strength. You didn't lose your tackles.
- 1:07:58But losing a guard of that magnitude, a guy that was
- 1:08:01looking to get a contract in the offseason, this this was his
- 1:08:04fifth year and and The Jets were talking about maybe extending
- 1:08:07them. I don't think they can.
- 1:08:08And now I'm hearing they're moving tipman possibly to the
- 1:08:12guard position and moving Myers as their center.
- 1:08:15I think that works. I think Tippmann's a better
- 1:08:17guard for his size than he is as a center.
- 1:08:20But again, I I thought, I thought that this team was going
- 1:08:24to have that depth. And now as far as the the
- 1:08:26defense, this is going to be an elite defense.
- 1:08:28There's no question. I think will McDonald's going to
- 1:08:31be one of the elite guys in the league when it comes to Sachs.
- 1:08:34I think he's going to go at you and he's going to be able to
- 1:08:36attack. He's got many different ways to
- 1:08:37beat you on the outside added added 15 lbs of muscle in the
- 1:08:41offseason and I now you have Jermaine Johnson whenever he
- 1:08:44comes back this year, is it week 3 or week 4, he's going to add
- 1:08:47that depth as far as the run defense and they added guys they
- 1:08:51made moves before the season in Phillips.
- 1:08:54I think they're going to be able to stop the run this year.
- 1:08:55So if they can get the triple team off of Quinton Williams,
- 1:09:00Quinn Williams can have one of his best seasons.
- 1:09:02I think he right behind the one Dexter Lauren, sexy Dexy, I
- 1:09:05think he's the second best defensive tackle in football.
- 1:09:08So we we want to see more Quinton Williams.
- 1:09:10We want to see what they could do Justin Fields, he can have a
- 1:09:14season. I think Aaron Glenn is the real
- 1:09:16deal. I think he's a great guy.
- 1:09:18I think they're going to be able to run the ball.
- 1:09:19Wide receivers, no depth whatsoever.
- 1:09:22I want to see what Taylor can do all season long.
- 1:09:24Young, Young, a young tight end. It usually takes three years for
- 1:09:28him to develop, but I think he's going to be fun to watch.
- 1:09:31Garrett Wilson will be fun. If you drafted him, he's going
- 1:09:33to put up 1000 yards. He's going to give you about 9
- 1:09:35or 10 touchdowns. But Justin Fields is the secret
- 1:09:38to the success of this offense so.
- 1:09:40Better than the Dolphins? Yes, better than the Dolphins.
- 1:09:44I actually have the opposite better than the Patriots because
- 1:09:46I think the Patriots are a little overhyped this year.
- 1:09:48I think I think they had a lot of free agents that they brought
- 1:09:51in. There's a lot of new all at
- 1:09:52once, especially with a new coaching staff.
- 1:09:53And they overpaid a lot of defensive players in my opinion.
- 1:09:56And their offense maybe got a little better, but I I don't
- 1:09:58know how much better that they got.
- 1:10:00The Jets to me, have a lot more real threats on offense.
- 1:10:02Like Errol saying the offensive line besides the Bills in this
- 1:10:05division is easily way better than the Patriots and the
- 1:10:07Dolphins. I don't think they're a playoff
- 1:10:08team, The Jets, but this reminds me of like the 2022 Lions.
- 1:10:11They're going to be in every game, establish A-Team culture,
- 1:10:14A-78 win team that's going to be very tough to beat.
- 1:10:16If they can get any level of a passing game, like a top 15 type
- 1:10:19passing game, they're a playoff team easily.
- 1:10:24Yeah. I mean, I, I just, I'm going to
- 1:10:25keep a clicker or a tally of of how many times we have to talk
- 1:10:28about The Jets and the good and the bad when when everything
- 1:10:31gets going because we know Errol's going to going to get
- 1:10:34going. But realistically, like Errol,
- 1:10:36like fandom aside and like a fan, like, do you think eight
- 1:10:40wins is realistic for The Jets? No.
- 1:10:42I think The Jets in a good season, 7 wins will be a good
- 1:10:46season for a guy like Aaron Glenn.
- 1:10:48I, I I don't think they get to 8 this year.
- 1:10:51A lot of people think they can win 10 the way the schedule is
- 1:10:53set up for them. I just don't.
- 1:10:55I don't think they have enough wide receivers.
- 1:10:58I think that's what they look in the draft next year.
- 1:11:00They look for a quarterback who probably is the future.
- 1:11:04We were talking about that yesterday with Mr. Booty.
- 1:11:08I expect, I expect that's where The Jets go with that and wide
- 1:11:12receiver. That's what they're missing.
- 1:11:14Maybe they make a trade for Myers if he becomes available or
- 1:11:17maybe Alave because we've heard Alave wants to move and he him
- 1:11:21and Justin Fields and Garrett Wilson are very close.
- 1:11:23So if The Jets could add Alave at some point, then we're
- 1:11:27talking about maybe a borderline 9 win team, but without that
- 1:11:31secondary wide receiver. Now, I I don't see it.
- 1:11:33I don't see it all. I do believe there are top three
- 1:11:35defense though. I do.
- 1:11:39Well guys, we have one obvious favorite in this division is the
- 1:11:43Buffalo Bills sitting at -270 to win the division.
- 1:11:47Very many people think of them as Super Bowl favorites going
- 1:11:51into the season from the AFC, at least to get there right.
- 1:11:55A lot of people picking the Eagles, but that would be pretty
- 1:11:58interesting match up. Josh Allen seems to be
- 1:12:01unstoppable to the the naked eye.
- 1:12:04He was able to beat the Chiefs in that in a snow game during
- 1:12:06the regular season. Couldn't get away with it by
- 1:12:09the, you know, skin of it. Knuckles of Dalton Kincaid not
- 1:12:12being able to make that catch in the post season.
- 1:12:15Pretty close to being a perfect throw as well in a impossible,
- 1:12:19impossible play with Spags with a corner blitz out of nowhere.
- 1:12:23We talked a lot of people at the Super Bowl about that play,
- 1:12:26guys. How good are the Bills and are
- 1:12:28they Super Bowl? Possibly.
- 1:12:30It's all about their defense and again this goes to coaching.
- 1:12:34This is might be the final year of their head coach if this team
- 1:12:37does not go to a Super Bowl and they fall short once again.
- 1:12:40They went to an AFC title game and lost against the same Kansas
- 1:12:44City Chief team. They're better than Kansas City.
- 1:12:46They are still one of the elite, one of the lead teams in the
- 1:12:49AFCI think they're the second best team, right behind
- 1:12:52Baltimore. They have the defense, they have
- 1:12:54the running game. They paid Cook in the offseason.
- 1:12:56I want to see Cook be used important parts of the game.
- 1:13:00They stopped running the ball against Kansas City in the AFC
- 1:13:04title game when they were absolutely killing Kansas City
- 1:13:06in the run game. And and by the way, I want to
- 1:13:09see Coleman actually take that next step as a number one wide
- 1:13:13receiver. They don't really have enough
- 1:13:15depth on the wide receiving. So they got to they got to on
- 1:13:18Kincaid to be that guy and be that guy that's going to be
- 1:13:21consistent, which she was inconsistent last year as the
- 1:13:25number one, I think pass catcher for the Buffalo Bills.
- 1:13:29So I do believe they're for real.
- 1:13:31I think there are 1011 win team. They are a Super Bowl contender.
- 1:13:35Josh Allen gets married. I looks very, very happy Hard
- 1:13:39Knocks. They look like they're fun team
- 1:13:41to watch and but McDermott is on the hot seat.
- 1:13:44But boys and I think if this team, if this team doesn't start
- 1:13:49off strong from the gates, they're going to have a problem.
- 1:13:52Yeah, I'm, well, it's one thing I'm worried about.
- 1:13:54I'll make it quick because our guess is in the secondary is the
- 1:13:56biggest thing because they can't draft corners to save their
- 1:13:58life. Safeties they've had issues
- 1:13:59with. It's weird to think like when
- 1:14:01McDermott started, they had a great secondary.
- 1:14:02Now they have a great pass rush and don't have the secondary.
- 1:14:04So they're going to need a couple of veteran pieces.
- 1:14:06I agree with the Ravens one. Bills 2, Chiefs 3 and Broncos 4
- 1:14:09for me in the AFC. There you go.
- 1:14:11Yeah. Yeah, I agree.
- 1:14:13Go ahead. White looked looked pretty good
- 1:14:16in Hard Knocks. Maybe he's really back from
- 1:14:19that. If that happens and he can play,
- 1:14:21you know, 75 to 85% of what he used to be as an all pro corner,
- 1:14:25that could give them just enough to to be really, really
- 1:14:29dangerous defensively. Guys, that's our AFC preview.
- 1:14:33It's been, it's going to be a real exciting season.
- 1:14:35I don't want to hear. I don't want to hear from Dion
- 1:14:37Dawkins all season. I can't stand the SOP.
- 1:14:40I can't stand that man. All right, So as long as he
- 1:14:44keeps his mouth shut, I'll be very excited.
- 1:14:46And I think Buffalo is definitely the team that beat in
- 1:14:49the AFC East. I don't think that is an
- 1:14:50argument. All right, ladies and gentlemen,
- 1:14:52my deuce of the day, the deuce of the day.
- 1:14:56You log not a log. I don't have a log but.
- 1:15:06Suck my indo. All right, ladies and gentlemen,
- 1:15:08my deuce of the day goes to the New England Patriots, as today
- 1:15:14they've come out and said that they're going to build a statue.
- 1:15:17Of who? Not Tom Brady, because it's
- 1:15:20already there of Bill Belichick. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, he's
- 1:15:25going to have a wonderful statue built over there in Fox.
- 1:15:30I call it Foxwoods because that's all I care about is going
- 1:15:34and making a bet. Ladies and gentlemen, what does
- 1:15:36that smell? It smells like garbage.
- 1:15:38I could care less about Bill Belichick.
- 1:15:40He walked out on the New York Jets 24 hours when he got the
- 1:15:43job. Bill Parcells just screwed up.
- 1:15:45And let me tell you something, Billy.
- 1:15:47Billy Bell, what are you doing over there with North Carolina?
- 1:15:50I'm going to tell you what, when you build the statue, I'll make

- 1:16:10If it wasn't for Bill Belichick leaving and going to your one
- 1:16:13and only New England Patriots, you would have been a New York
- 1:16:16Jet your ass. All right, that's it.
- 1:16:17That's my dues of the day. I had to say that I had to give
- 1:16:21that I could careless if they're building a statue or a nice
- 1:16:24little thumbs up right to Bill Belichick and Tom Brady, thank

- 1:17:18Tush push? That's right, as long as she's
- 1:17:21using dude wipes and taking care of my 2 hole I'm.

- 1:17:29you know, populating the dude, right, dude?
- 1:17:32Dude wipes, by the way. But I'm a little tired.
- 1:17:35It's been a long day for me, a long week for me, but I'm just
- 1:17:37happy. It was really good.
- 1:17:39All the shows were great this week and honestly just getting
- 1:17:43better. I like I'd like to thank all the
- 1:17:45fans really seriously, all the fans that have tuned in and and

- 1:17:52If you're if you're, if you're bored and you're sitting here
- 1:17:54watching the Yankee game or watching the Yankees absolutely
- 1:17:57bomb a game they should have won.
- 1:17:58Well, you should be listening to our show because we would just
- 1:18:01absolutely kill them. Aaron Boone absolutely putrid in
- 1:18:04the 8th inning when it comes to Devin Williams.
- 1:18:07Oh my God, horrible calling that idiot in.
- 1:18:10But anyways, that's it. We'll talk to you next week
- 1:18:13Monday. Who do we have on?
- 1:18:14Nothing yet for Monday, but Wednesday Nathan was able to get
- 1:18:17Jordan Ronan, who's the ESPN NFL Nation reporter for the New York
- 1:18:21Giants. Oh, that'll be.
- 1:18:22Fun 945. Jordan very big when it comes to
- 1:18:25Giants reporting. So getting Jordan on is is
- 1:18:29pretty cool and I'm sure he'll have his take on where he thinks
- 1:18:32the Giants are going to be. And and by the way, the Giants
- 1:18:35will play game number one on Sunday.
- 1:18:37So I'll ask him what he thought about the New York Giants on
- 1:18:41Sunday. So there you go Jabba.
- 1:18:43You have anything to say before we go, buddy?
- 1:18:48No, the Yankees, just when, just when you like them, they do
- 1:18:52this. Yeah.
- 1:18:55Other than that, yeah. Nick, I guess.
- 1:19:00I got enough goody, just just take your pills and go to bed.
- 1:19:05He he lost his mojo when he lost his crown.
- 1:19:08And came to him. Goody was trying to track how
- 1:19:10much the the last pitch Devin Williams threw compared to the
- 1:19:13Comet he was. He tastes himself.
- 1:19:17Stop. That's not true.
- 1:19:18He's just comparing the value of a second edition and a third
- 1:19:21edition. MU 2.
- 1:19:23Actually, actually, I was admiring this man.
- 1:19:26This man spent 33 years alone on an island because he didn't feel
- 1:19:29like talking to anyone. I feel like that right now.
- 1:19:34I'm not doing any freaking tag team.
- 1:19:37All right, ladies and gentlemen, that's it for our show.
- 1:19:39We'll talk to you next week. Good night.
- 1:19:40It is the worldwide sports radio Network.
