Latest / The Mark Simone Show / Hour 3: Mamdani's new ad for Hochul.
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Mr.
- 0:00Speaker 2: New York, Mark Simone, now three hours every weekday from
- 0:05Speaker 2: 9 till noon on 710WOR.
- 0:10Speaker 1: Well, hey, it's the third and final hour. Remember, it's
- 0:13Speaker 1: three hours every day, 9 till noon, three hours every day. So,
- 0:19Speaker 1: Bruce Blakeman. had the debate Tuesday night versus Kathy Hochul.
- 0:24Speaker 1: He was phenomenal in the debate. He just crushed her
- 0:26Speaker 1: in the debate. Now, if you're a crazy Democrat, you'll
- 0:29Speaker 1: think Hochul won, but normal people don't think she won.
- 0:34Speaker 1: It was bad. In fact, Blakeman fundraising has been up
- 0:38Speaker 1: dramatically since the debate. Money is pouring in. People were
- 0:43Speaker 1: very impressed. Now, Kathy Hochul started with a huge war chest,
- 0:48Speaker 1: about $ 35 million. And she did not take matching funds,
- 0:54Speaker 1: public matching funds. So she's not obligated to debate. She
- 1:00Speaker 1: turned down all the major debates, Channel 2, Channel 4,
- 1:03Speaker 1: Channel 5, Channel 7, Channel 9. She refused all these debates.
- 1:08Speaker 1: She agreed to one. This is what Democrats do when
- 1:10Speaker 1: they're really scared. They'll agree only to New York 1
- 1:13Speaker 1: because it's tiny. Nobody sees New York 1. And it's
- 1:17Speaker 1: very biased, very left wing. You'll notice their moderators kept
- 1:22Speaker 1: cutting Blakeman off every time he was getting a good point.
- 1:25Speaker 3: We have to move on.
- 1:26Speaker 1: We have to move on. We have to move on.
- 1:29Speaker 1: Why do you have to move on? You can take
- 1:32Speaker 1: all the time you want. It's New York One. You
- 1:35Speaker 1: don't really have much of a schedule. You could do
- 1:37Speaker 1: whatever you want. And then they do those yes or
- 1:39Speaker 1: no gotcha questions. So when you try to answer the question,
- 1:43Speaker 1: try to really give some substance, they'll jump in. It's
- 1:46Speaker 1: a yes or no question. Just one word, yes or no.
- 1:48Speaker 1: We can't let you talk. One of those kinds of debates,
- 1:51Speaker 1: but Blakeman fundraising, very, very big. Mom, Donnie has jumped
- 1:55Speaker 1: into the race actively. Now mom, Donnie now has a commercial,
- 1:59Speaker 1: a video TV commercials. Don't mean much of anything anymore
- 2:03Speaker 1: that he, uh, you want to reach people. You do
- 2:05Speaker 1: it on online social media videos. Mom, Donnie has put
- 2:09Speaker 1: out his attack video on Blakeman.
- 2:12Speaker 4: Actually fights for working families in New York when Bruce
- 2:14Speaker 4: was busy. Or actually, Bruce wasn't that busy. Governor Hochul
- 2:18Speaker 4: was helping us close a $ 12 billion budget deficit here
- 2:21Speaker 4: in New York City. And when New York City needed
- 2:22Speaker 4: a partner in delivering free universal childcare, Governor Hochul didn't
- 2:25Speaker 4: just help us deliver 2,000 new seats for two-year-olds this year.
- 2:29Speaker 4: She worked with us so we could deliver 10,000 more
- 2:31Speaker 4: seats next January. That's why I'm voting for Governor Hochul.
- 2:34Speaker 4: Because she's the real deal for New Yorkers. Bruce Blakeman?
- 2:38Speaker 4: He's a bad apple.
- 2:40Speaker 1: Okay, now. Analyze that. What do they accuse Blakeman of?
- 2:45Speaker 1: They did a hell of a lot of opposition research.
- 2:47Speaker 1: What do they accuse him of? He's not there? Well,
- 2:50Speaker 1: that's ridiculous. The guy works day and night. I mean,
- 2:53Speaker 1: I know this for a fact. He's got a schedule
- 2:55Speaker 1: that's like 6 a.m. to midnight. He just works and
- 2:58Speaker 1: works and works, not to mention crisscrossing the state, not
- 3:02Speaker 1: to mention going to every event of importance that he
- 3:04Speaker 1: needs to be at. So it's a false accusation. If
- 3:08Speaker 1: they have to lie, that's quite a compliment to Blakeman.
- 3:12Speaker 1: And this childcare, daycare, I think there's something they're not
- 3:17Speaker 1: telling you about with this daycare. The same thing with
- 3:20Speaker 1: Mamdani and his daycare here in the city. When it
- 3:25Speaker 1: comes to this daycare, you know it's only until about
- 3:28Speaker 1: 2 p.m. The idea of the daycare is you can
- 3:32Speaker 1: put your kid there if you're a single parent or
- 3:35Speaker 1: you don't have anybody to stay home or both parents
- 3:38Speaker 1: are working. You have daycare to put the child in. Well,
- 3:42Speaker 1: it's only till 2 p.m. Do you know anybody who
- 3:44Speaker 1: has a job that ends at 2 p.m.? Not you guys.
- 3:50Speaker 1: I'm talking about normal office work. Yeah, most people work
- 3:55Speaker 1: 9 to 5 or more. So what is the point
- 3:59Speaker 1: of the daycare if it's only till 2 p.m.? And
- 4:02Speaker 1: by the way, it's not there in the summer. It's
- 4:05Speaker 1: only in the school year. So if you're working, there's
- 4:08Speaker 1: no daycare for you. So Mamdani never quite pointing that
- 4:12Speaker 1: out to people. Blakeman looks real good now. He's got
- 4:16Speaker 1: money pouring in left and right. Last night, there was
- 4:20Speaker 1: a huge fundraiser for Blakeman at Madison Square Garden. James Dolan,
- 4:25Speaker 1: a garden owner, hosted this big fundraiser. So there'll be
- 4:28Speaker 1: a ton of money for Blakeman to spend 18 days
- 4:32Speaker 1: until the election, just 18 days, two and a half weeks.
- 4:35Speaker 1: And that's where it really counts, you know, all the
- 4:37Speaker 1: money and everything. That's where you want to blitz in
- 4:40Speaker 1: the last couple of weeks. So it'll be quite a finish. Now, remember,
- 4:44Speaker 1: Blakeman has this pattern. You saw it in Long Island
- 4:47Speaker 1: in his two elections. He starts off way behind. He's 15,
- 4:51Speaker 1: 20 points behind. And then he's 10 points behind. Then
- 4:55Speaker 1: he's five points behind. Then he's caught up. And then
- 4:58Speaker 1: he always wins. So you'll see him most likely win
- 5:02Speaker 1: in 18 days. President Trump, he He's got an AI
- 5:09Speaker 1: director now. Do you remember our U.S. attorney here, Jay Clayton?
- 5:14Speaker 1: He was a fine U.S. attorney. He was a really
- 5:16Speaker 1: good guy, very smart guy. Everybody likes Jay Clayton. So
- 5:19Speaker 1: President Trump made him the director of national intelligence. That's
- 5:24Speaker 1: a huge job in Washington. And before he was the U.S.
- 5:28Speaker 1: attorney here, he had quite a resume. He was the
- 5:30Speaker 1: head of the SEC. He's done a lot of stuff.
- 5:33Speaker 1: So he's the national intelligence director. Now, President Trump also
- 5:37Speaker 1: just appointed him AI czar. He's the AI czar. And
- 5:42Speaker 1: the president has asked him, he's given him 120 days
- 5:46Speaker 1: to come back and report on the pros and cons
- 5:49Speaker 1: of AI. And Clayton will oversee a superintelligence task force,
- 5:56Speaker 1: which is being formed to put all the smartest people
- 5:58Speaker 1: on it, make sure the leaders in AI, they're calling
- 6:02Speaker 1: it superintelligence, and that the interest of the American people
- 6:06Speaker 1: are put first. Clayton predicted that over time there will
- 6:09Speaker 1: be stronger mechanisms to mitigate risks and identify opportunities with AI.
- 6:18Speaker 1: Task force not fully formed. On it will definitely be J.D. Vance,
- 6:22Speaker 1: Scott Besson, Pete Hegsiff, Deputy Chief of Staff Richard Waters,
- 6:29Speaker 1: former AI czar David Sachs. So, You've got to remember,
- 6:34Speaker 1: the important part of this is, if it's true that
- 6:39Speaker 1: AI is so powerful it could take over the whole world, well,
- 6:44Speaker 1: then it's absolutely essential that we be in the lead,
- 6:48Speaker 1: not China, that we not let China get control of it.
- 6:51Speaker 1: If it's that deadly, if it's that powerful, we can't
- 6:54Speaker 1: let China have control of it. We've got to stay
- 6:56Speaker 1: way ahead of them. So that's the reason to keep going. Now, remember,
- 7:00Speaker 1: with the data centers... All the problems are slowly but
- 7:04Speaker 1: surely going away. The electricity problem is being solved. They
- 7:07Speaker 1: can use different things to solve that. The water problem,
- 7:11Speaker 1: they've learned how to recycle the water. The only problem,
- 7:15Speaker 1: the noise, the awful noise from those turbines that make
- 7:19Speaker 1: it impossible to live within a half mile, even a
- 7:22Speaker 1: mile of a data center. Well, Elon Musk is working
- 7:25Speaker 1: on a new type of turbine that'll cut down the
- 7:27Speaker 1: noise and the vibration. The size, the massive size of
- 7:31Speaker 1: the data centers, well, they're going to start to get smaller.
- 7:35Speaker 1: You've got to remember it's the same thing with the computer.
- 7:38Speaker 1: If you go back to the 70s, a computer was enormous.
- 7:42Speaker 1: It was the size of a football field, an IBM computer. Now,
- 7:46Speaker 1: this little iPhone in my hand is more powerful than
- 7:49Speaker 1: that thing. So they'll get the data centers smaller and
- 7:51Speaker 1: smaller and smaller. Speaking of Jay Clayton, remember we mentioned
- 7:58Speaker 1: yesterday susie wiles the chief of staff white house chief
- 8:01Speaker 1: of staff is most likely on her way out the
- 8:05Speaker 1: president looking at removing her as chief of staff now
- 8:09Speaker 1: she's been quite a part of his campaign and in
- 8:12Speaker 1: the four years he was out of office she came
- 8:14Speaker 1: in organized things ran things helped keep that campaign right
- 8:19Speaker 1: on track who knows what would have happened without her
- 8:22Speaker 1: and she's been great but there's uh i don't know
- 8:24Speaker 1: there's there's friction there there's problems Her daughter is apparently
- 8:28Speaker 1: running around making money off the Trump administration overseas, and
- 8:33Speaker 1: they don't like some of that. There's things they don't like,
- 8:35Speaker 1: but I know he's been asking everybody about removing her,
- 8:39Speaker 1: getting opinions from everybody. And there's talk of who would
- 8:44Speaker 1: replace her. Stephen Miller is on the list. Randy Levine,
- 8:47Speaker 1: New York Yankee president. President Trump loves him. Very smart guy.
- 8:51Speaker 1: Steve Witkoff. But you know who's now on the list?
- 8:53Speaker 1: Jay Clayton. He's come to really love and respect and
- 8:57Speaker 1: trust Jay Clayton. So he's the director of national security.
- 9:02Speaker 1: He's the AI czar, but now being looked at as
- 9:05Speaker 1: possibly the next chief of staff for the White House. Hey,
- 9:10Speaker 1: Tiger Woods is working on, this is a new thing now.
- 9:14Speaker 1: He's going to build golf courses with gated communities around them.
- 9:20Speaker 1: This is what you do when you're old, when you
- 9:23Speaker 1: get old in golf. First thing is you go on
- 9:27Speaker 1: the senior tour. Instead of the regular PGA Tour, you're
- 9:30Speaker 1: on the senior tour. And then when you're getting really old,
- 9:34Speaker 1: you can't even play on the senior tour. You become a... Well,
- 9:37Speaker 1: it's actually a bunch of real estate developers and builders.
- 9:40Speaker 1: They do all the stuff. They hire you to pretend
- 9:42Speaker 1: you're the guy. And they build golf courses. You know,
- 9:45Speaker 1: there's a Jack Nicklaus golf course everywhere. The Jack Nicklaus
- 9:49Speaker 1: golf course with resorts and houses all around the golf course.
- 9:53Speaker 1: Real estate developers do this. So apparently... Tiger Woods is
- 9:56Speaker 1: getting into this business. Blue Jack Ranch. is the follow-up
- 10:01Speaker 1: to Blue Jack National. This is the name I guess
- 10:03Speaker 1: they're using. And their golf course is designed by Tiger Woods.
- 10:07Speaker 1: They're private clubs, gated communities with homes starting at a
- 10:11Speaker 1: million dollars around them. And really nice homes. Here's a Actually,
- 10:18Speaker 1: they're spending about $ 3 billion on this whole deal. So
- 10:22Speaker 1: Tiger Woods will get a huge chunk of that. But
- 10:25Speaker 1: some of the homes on there, but 20,000 square foot mansion,
- 10:29Speaker 1: pretty good looking stuff. But that's what Tiger's up to now. Now,
- 10:34Speaker 1: a lot of people be coming to New York now. It's,
- 10:37Speaker 1: what's the date today? October 16th.
- 10:41Speaker 3: All right.
- 10:41Speaker 1: It's going to start right after Halloween, the tourist season.
- 10:45Speaker 1: We get a lot of them in the summer. But
- 10:47Speaker 1: it really gets bad in November and December. They come
- 10:49Speaker 1: here for Thanksgiving. They come here for the parade. They
- 10:52Speaker 1: come here for the tree. We have a lot of
- 10:56Speaker 1: listeners around the country. You know, when you talk to
- 10:58Speaker 1: somebody around the country and they'll talk about the New York, oh,
- 11:01Speaker 1: I'd love to come see the tree. This is a
- 11:04Speaker 1: big deal. They'll actually come here, spend thousands of dollars
- 11:07Speaker 1: staying here to go look at this tree. The tree's
- 11:11Speaker 1: right over there. It's like six blocks away. We walk
- 11:13Speaker 1: by this thing every day. It's nice, but it's just
- 11:16Speaker 1: a tree. It's a big Christmas. You know, actually, if
- 11:19Speaker 1: you go around New York, there's a lot of better
- 11:21Speaker 1: Christmas trees with better decorations on them than the Rockefeller
- 11:24Speaker 1: Center one. Now, the other thing is they go to
- 11:26Speaker 1: Radio City, the Rockettes. The Radio City Rockettes say it'll
- 11:31Speaker 1: be a different type of show this year. It'll be
- 11:34Speaker 1: more high-tech. AI's taking over there. It's the 101st birthday
- 11:40Speaker 1: of the Rockettes. The technology gets better and better every year.
- 11:45Speaker 1: You know now, They have microphones in their shoes. Their
- 11:49Speaker 1: tap shoes also have microphones in them. So you can
- 11:52Speaker 1: hear the taps. They're actually all mic'd up. There's new
- 11:56Speaker 1: overhead cameras. It'll show you the precision. There's all sorts
- 11:59Speaker 1: of new technology innovation coming in. But they say it'll
- 12:03Speaker 1: be a darker show this year. Darker, moodier. Who the
- 12:08Speaker 1: hell wants that? Why would you want the Rockettes to
- 12:10Speaker 1: get darker and moodier? It's supposed to be a fun
- 12:12Speaker 1: type show. New data. New study coming out. Marriage, less
- 12:18Speaker 1: and less and less and less. Fewer than 25% of
- 12:23Speaker 1: households with children have married couples in them. You know,
- 12:28Speaker 1: it used to be a long time ago if your
- 12:31Speaker 1: parents were divorced and you were a kid that you
- 12:33Speaker 1: went to school, you know, they would tease you about
- 12:36Speaker 1: your parents being divorced. That was a problem. Now, if
- 12:40Speaker 1: you go to school and your parents aren't divorced, you
- 12:42Speaker 1: get teased about that. Everybody's divorced. It's highly unusual for
- 12:46Speaker 1: a kid to go to school and have both parents
- 12:48Speaker 1: living with them. In fact, it looks like, here's one city,
- 12:54Speaker 1: only 13% of kids have married parents. Only 13%. But overall,
- 13:00Speaker 1: the whole country, it's 25%. Only 25% of kids have
- 13:05Speaker 1: married parents. Now, it's different in the suburbs. It's a
- 13:09Speaker 1: higher rate out in the suburbs. A lot less in
- 13:12Speaker 1: the cities. But one major city, it's only 13%. Hey, remember,
- 13:16Speaker 1: it was a week ago, Saturday Night Live, Shane Gillis
- 13:19Speaker 1: did the monologue where he did those jokes about women
- 13:23Speaker 1: dressing really trashy in the gym, how they look like
- 13:26Speaker 1: whores or whatever. So everybody's been trying to cancel him.
- 13:30Speaker 1: The crazy left-wingers have been trying to bring back cancel
- 13:33Speaker 1: culture and cancel him for being misogynist. It's not working, though.
- 13:38Speaker 1: Nothing's happened so far. People are defending him. Even Travis
- 13:41Speaker 1: Kelsey came out to defend him. Other comedians coming out
- 13:45Speaker 1: to defend him. So it was an attempt to bring
- 13:48Speaker 1: back cancel culture. And it looks like a week later
- 13:52Speaker 1: it is failing and will fail. So that's good news. Hey,
- 13:55Speaker 1: we'll take some calls next. 800-321-0710 is the number. Give
- 14:02Speaker 1: us a call, especially if you're a new caller. We
- 14:03Speaker 1: always like to hear from new callers. The number is 800-321-0710.
- 14:08Speaker 5: 800-321-0710. 800-321-0710.
- 14:09Speaker 1: Reset on the iHeartRadio.
- 14:15Speaker 2: App to WOR to hear Mark live. Set another for
- 14:19Speaker 2: Mark's podcast to hear him anytime. Now back to Mark
- 14:23Speaker 2: Simone on WOR.
- 14:27Speaker 1: Hey, let's take some calls. 800-321-0710 is the number. Let's
- 14:32Speaker 1: go to Jamie in New Jersey. Jamie, how you doing?
- 14:37Speaker 6: Hey, Mark.
- 14:37Speaker 7: Great show as always. I was going to tell you
- 14:41Speaker 7: two things. The first thing is, you know, the Libs
- 14:44Speaker 7: keep forgetting that it took JFK Jr. like three or
- 14:47Speaker 7: four times to pass the flag.
- 14:49Speaker 1: Well, it was three times, and the third time his
- 14:51Speaker 1: mother had to make some special arrangements for him to pass.
- 14:55Speaker 7: Oh, was that the West?
- 14:58Speaker 1: Yeah. Listen, he was a friend of mine. He was
- 15:00Speaker 1: a nice guy. He was not the brightest guy in
- 15:02Speaker 1: the world.
- 15:04Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 15:05Speaker 7: And the second thing is, did you ever really think about, like,
- 15:09Speaker 7: penning a biography or something? Because between, you know, knowing, like,
- 15:14Speaker 7: Sinatra and, you know, all the.
- 15:18Speaker 1: Well, I actually have about 12 book deals I've had
- 15:22Speaker 1: through the years, but I can never force myself to
- 15:24Speaker 1: sit down and start writing. I know, I got to
- 15:26Speaker 1: do it. I got to do it.
- 15:28Speaker 7: I mean, it would just be incredible. I mean, the
- 15:31Speaker 7: people that you've known.
- 15:32Speaker 1: All right, let's calm down. It won't be war and peace,
- 15:34Speaker 1: but you're right. I should do it. I should do it.
- 15:36Speaker 1: I got to force myself.
- 15:37Speaker 7: You know, it definitely would be some great reading. And again,
- 15:42Speaker 7: you know, it's just, it would be something to look
- 15:45Speaker 7: forward to.
- 15:46Speaker 1: All right, thanks. I'll start working on it. I'll start
- 15:49Speaker 1: sitting down and actually writing. Let's go to John in Bayville. John,
- 15:54Speaker 1: how are you doing?
- 15:55Speaker 5: Okay, Mark.
- 15:56Speaker 6: How are you?
- 15:56Speaker 7: Good.
- 15:57Speaker 1: What are you, in the trunk of a car?
- 15:59Speaker 6: I'm in my car. I'm driving.
- 16:00Speaker 1: Oh, okay.
- 16:03Speaker 6: My question to you, has anybody in all our presidents
- 16:07Speaker 6: in Congress ever decided to come out with an amendment
- 16:10Speaker 6: against having non-born or people born abroad running for office,
- 16:16Speaker 6: any office in our country?
- 16:18Speaker 1: Well, people People have talked about it. Nobody's proposed it. Yeah,
- 16:22Speaker 1: the problem is there's a lot of people in Congress
- 16:26Speaker 1: that weren't born in the United States. You've got to
- 16:28Speaker 1: be born in the United States to be president. We
- 16:30Speaker 1: can understand that because you're leading. You might be leading
- 16:35Speaker 1: us in a war or something. But banning people that
- 16:42Speaker 1: weren't born in the country from even running for Congress,
- 16:44Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't know. That's stretching it a bit.
- 16:48Speaker 1: Let's go to, uh, Nick in Mount Vernon. Nick, how
- 16:51Speaker 1: you doing?
- 16:52Speaker 2: Good, Mark.
- 16:53Speaker 5: Good to love your show.
- 16:55Speaker 1: Thanks.
- 16:55Speaker 5: What's the story with daylight saving time? Is he going
- 16:58Speaker 5: to eliminate it?
- 16:59Speaker 1: Yeah, probably. It's not going to happen this time. Cause
- 17:01Speaker 1: like in two weeks, you got to set your clock, uh,
- 17:04Speaker 1: back an hour, but, uh, it got knocked out. Um,
- 17:10Speaker 1: the almost got it done, but there were a couple
- 17:12Speaker 1: of States opposing it. One was, it was at Arkansas where, uh,
- 17:17Speaker 1: So the problem is a time zone is big. Like
- 17:22Speaker 1: if you're in New York and it's getting dark at
- 17:26Speaker 1: six o'clock, if you're all the way at the end
- 17:29Speaker 1: of the time zone, like in Michigan, it's not getting
- 17:32Speaker 1: dark till seven o'clock. There's a one hour difference from
- 17:35Speaker 1: the beginning of the time zone to the end as
- 17:37Speaker 1: far as the darkness and the daylight. So the problem is,
- 17:41Speaker 1: I think the state was Arkansas. They're at the end
- 17:44Speaker 1: of a time zone. They're on the cusp of a
- 17:46Speaker 1: time zone. So it would stay dark here until about 7.30. Well,
- 17:52Speaker 1: in that state, in the winter, it'll stay dark until 8.30.
- 17:55Speaker 1: So they pretty much blocked it. Well, we'll get this
- 17:57Speaker 1: permanent daylight saving time. Not in time for this year,
- 18:00Speaker 1: but we'll get it eventually. Let's go to Pam in
- 18:02Speaker 1: New Jersey. Pam, how are you doing?
- 18:06Speaker 8: Hi.
- 18:06Speaker 3: You asked how did New England become so liberal. It's
- 18:10Speaker 3: Started a lot of the time, not totally, but during
- 18:14Speaker 3: the Vietnam War when liberal artists went up there on
- 18:17Speaker 3: their way to Canada, but some of them stopped short
- 18:20Speaker 3: and went out in the woods and did their art
- 18:22Speaker 3: thing and formed enclaves of liberalism. There's still enclaves in Canada, too,
- 18:29Speaker 3: of these groups.
- 18:30Speaker 1: Yeah, that was the beginning, the liberals moving up there.
- 18:33Speaker 1: But then it really sped up in the 70s, 80s,
- 18:35Speaker 1: like a lot of.
- 18:38Speaker 1: New Yorkers, Brooklynites, Bernie Sanders, all those people, they went
- 18:41Speaker 1: up to Vermont and they took over the whole state.
- 18:44Speaker 1: The old Vermont guard didn't know what the hell hit
- 18:46Speaker 1: him when these tough guys from Brooklyn came and took over.
- 18:49Speaker 1: But it's been happening everywhere. Maine, especially during the pandemic,
- 18:53Speaker 1: a lot of the left-wingers, real left-wingers out of Massachusetts,
- 18:57Speaker 1: all during that pandemic were moving up to Maine. Doesn't
- 19:00Speaker 1: take a lot of people to change the demographic makeup.
- 19:03Speaker 1: Maine's got a small population and they did change it.
- 19:07Speaker 1: Let's go to Bob in Florida. Bob, how are you doing?
- 19:10Speaker 2: I'm hanging in there.
- 19:11Speaker 7: You know, I'm day-to-day mostly, but I'm calling about the
- 19:14Speaker 7: horse carriage caper.
- 19:16Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 19:17Speaker 4: But how it relates to the.
- 19:20Speaker 7: Fake news being, like, off the charts. With every story
- 19:25Speaker 7: that would appeal to some, you know, left-wing group.
- 19:29Speaker 6: Yeah, it's just cheap virtue signaling.
- 19:32Speaker 1: It's cheap virtue signaling. The problem, a death caused by
- 19:35Speaker 1: the horse and carriage is one. in 100 years, death
- 19:39Speaker 1: by e-bikes, 133 in seven years. Just seven years.
- 19:43Speaker 4: Yeah, with Oscar Belgal and Mayor Mondami demanding that ICE
- 19:49Speaker 4: be removed.
- 19:50Speaker 5: From the city.
- 19:50Speaker 6: Oh, come on.
- 19:51Speaker 5: All he's trying to do is.
- 19:52Speaker 1: No, it's another good point. Listen, these shootings are awful
- 19:56Speaker 1: when they happen. ICE has had three of these shootings,
- 20:00Speaker 1: but that's out of 600,000 arrests. That's a pretty good
- 20:03Speaker 1: track record. 600,000 arrests and only three had problems like that.
- 20:08Speaker 1: Let's go to... Vincent in Brooklyn. Vincent, how you doing?
- 20:12Speaker 5: Good morning, Mark. Mark, I'm okay. Mayor Mondami's always grousing
- 20:16Speaker 5: and complaining about the cost of daycare. Well, hello, Mondami.
- 20:21Speaker 5: Years ago, it wasn't necessary for two people in a family,
- 20:26Speaker 5: the husband and the wife, to go out and work.
- 20:29Speaker 5: It's only because your ilk, Mondami, Kathy Hochul, and all
- 20:35Speaker 5: of the Democrats in the city legislature and the state legislature,
- 20:39Speaker 5: because when I was a kid... My mother only worked
- 20:43Speaker 5: four hours a day. My mother was a cook in
- 20:46Speaker 5: an Italian restaurant that had largely a lunch trade. So
- 20:50Speaker 5: after we went off to school, my mother went to
- 20:53Speaker 5: work in the kitchen and everything. And before school let
- 20:56Speaker 5: out at 2.30, a quarter to 3.00, My mother was
- 21:01Speaker 5: pretty much finished. It was only because of, over the years,
- 21:05Speaker 5: the cost of living, mainly the taxes, the fees, and
- 21:10Speaker 5: the regulations going up, that where it made it necessary
- 21:14Speaker 5: for two people in a family to have to work.
- 21:18Speaker 5: That's on you, Democrats. That's on you, Mondami. But on
- 21:22Speaker 5: a lighter note, Mark, you were speaking about great Christmas trees.
- 21:27Speaker 5: Everybody listen to this.
- 21:28Speaker 1: All right, we only got a few seconds.
- 21:29Speaker 5: Go ahead. At the end of Montague Street on Brooklyn Heights,
- 21:33Speaker 5: right where the promenade begins, right before Thanksgiving, they set
- 21:39Speaker 5: up a massive, beautiful Christmas tree. And on one side
- 21:43Speaker 5: is the house where Linda Blair did the exorcist. But
- 21:47Speaker 5: right beyond it, still in view, is the lower harbor
- 21:50Speaker 5: all lit up. It's beautiful.
- 21:52Speaker 2: Yeah, I've seen it.
- 21:53Speaker 1: Really nice. Well, Vincent, great call. Thanks for calling. Hey,
- 21:56Speaker 1: when we come back, one of the best pollsters around,
- 21:59Speaker 1: Matt Towery, he's got a great new book out. So
- 22:02Speaker 1: we'll get some insight into the upcoming election. And also,
- 22:06Speaker 1: this is a fascinating book about the mirages created by
- 22:11Speaker 1: liberal media, liberal colleges. It's fascinating stuff. We'll get to
- 22:14Speaker 1: that next on 710WOR.
- 22:17Speaker 2: Welcome back to The Mark Simone Show. Live from the
- 22:21Speaker 2: WOR LifeVac studios.
- 22:25Speaker 1: Well, Matt Towery is one of the great pollsters in America.
- 22:29Speaker 1: I mean, a real pollster, not the not those fake
- 22:32Speaker 1: polls you see publicly. But Matt Towery, great pollster. But
- 22:34Speaker 1: he's got a book out that's very important. We want
- 22:37Speaker 1: you to read. The new book is called The Mirage Machine.
- 22:41Speaker 1: And it's all about how this whole fake media academic
- 22:45Speaker 1: government complex got started and what it's doing. And we'll
- 22:48Speaker 1: get to that with the great Matt Towery. Matt, how
- 22:51Speaker 1: you doing?
- 22:52Speaker 8: Mark, so happy to be with you. And let everybody
- 22:55Speaker 8: know the first part of that title is The Honoring
- 22:58Speaker 8: of Ignorance. The Honoring of Ignorance. And let me tell you,
- 23:01Speaker 8: we've got more honoring of ignorance going on in this
- 23:03Speaker 8: election season than I can count. And I'm so happy
- 23:06Speaker 8: to have a chance to sort of share my thoughts
- 23:09Speaker 8: with your listeners today.
- 23:10Speaker 1: Yeah. We'll get to the book in a second. Let
- 23:12Speaker 1: me just ask you, it's 18 days till the midterms.
- 23:14Speaker 1: What's going to happen? How does it look right now?
- 23:17Speaker 8: You know, we get this every time, Mark. You're so
- 23:19Speaker 8: used to it. We get these polls that come out
- 23:22Speaker 8: and show the Democrats are always way ahead and the
- 23:24Speaker 8: Republicans are way down. And then somebody like a Nate
- 23:27Speaker 8: Silver or 538 before they shuttered that bunch comes out
- 23:30Speaker 8: and says, oh, it's over. You know, give up. And
- 23:33Speaker 8: then all of a sudden, the Republicans, you know it.
- 23:36Speaker 8: And so all of a sudden, the Republicans start to
- 23:38Speaker 8: inch their way back in. And now all of a sudden,
- 23:41Speaker 8: people are nervous. And I'll tell you a reason they are.
- 23:44Speaker 8: they're nervous because there is a massive turnout of older voters.
- 23:49Speaker 8: Like I've never seen before. I've been polling for 26 years.
- 23:51Speaker 8: I've been in politics forever and I have never seen
- 23:54Speaker 8: seniors voting at the level they are now. In fact,
- 23:57Speaker 8: in Georgia, which is my bellwether state, because it could
- 24:00Speaker 8: go 50, 50, either way in Georgia, 80% of the
- 24:03Speaker 8: votes in early votes as of yesterday, we're 55 and
- 24:07Speaker 8: over and they vote Republican. Wow. And isn't that something?
- 24:11Speaker 1: Yeah. Um, So the fake polls that are supposed to
- 24:16Speaker 1: discourage people, the fake news trying to convince Republicans to
- 24:19Speaker 1: stay home, it's not working? Is that what we're saying?
- 24:22Speaker 8: Yeah, it never has worked. You know, I predicted Trump
- 24:26Speaker 8: would win in 2016. Everybody thought it was crazy. In 2020,
- 24:29Speaker 8: you know, we knew that Trump was, you know, with
- 24:33Speaker 8: the pandemic, it.
- 24:33Speaker 7: Really hurt him.
- 24:34Speaker 8: But he did very well. He didn't win, at least
- 24:39Speaker 8: by the count. Um, but he was much closer than
- 24:42Speaker 8: the pollsters had it in 2024. They all said he
- 24:45Speaker 8: was going to lose that also. And he beat Harris handily.
- 24:49Speaker 8: So I think we're looking at another one of these
- 24:51Speaker 8: mirage machines where what they do is the media harps
- 24:54Speaker 8: on a certain issue. This time it's gas prices. They
- 24:57Speaker 8: don't tell anybody that gas prices were just as high
- 25:00Speaker 8: under Joe Biden. And that inflation was 8.5% versus 3.7%.
- 25:04Speaker 8: Now that you don't hear that, do you? No, they
- 25:07Speaker 8: keep that from us. And, and instead they, They want
- 25:10Speaker 8: to focus on the one thing that makes everybody feel
- 25:12Speaker 8: like they're so miserable and they're not doing well. And
- 25:15Speaker 8: I don't think the public's buying it.
- 25:17Speaker 1: Yeah. So a lot of criticism of the Republicans didn't
- 25:21Speaker 1: do the right messaging. They didn't get their message out.
- 25:24Speaker 1: What did they do wrong, if anything?
- 25:27Speaker 8: Well, I think the only thing they could have done,
- 25:30Speaker 8: which I wish they had, is to leapfrog over this
- 25:35Speaker 8: biased mirage machine media. and put out ads earlier letting
- 25:41Speaker 8: people know that we have the lowest unemployment since the
- 25:43Speaker 8: 1960s the economy is expanding the GDP is up that
- 25:48Speaker 8: we have more disposable income because of the tax cuts
- 25:52Speaker 8: and that more people were traveling during labor day this
- 25:55Speaker 8: last holiday we had more people flew and drove than
- 25:58Speaker 8: any other time in the history of our country does
- 25:59Speaker 8: that sound like a country that's in recession no and
- 26:03Speaker 8: I think that message could have gotten out there sooner
- 26:05Speaker 8: but boy, Donald Trump, he is working his rear end off,
- 26:09Speaker 8: going everywhere he can, because turnout is what midterms are about,
- 26:12Speaker 8: and he is turning people out to the polls.
- 26:15Speaker 1: All right, Matt Towery, but here's the problem, which brings
- 26:17Speaker 1: us to your book, The Honoring of Ignorance, this mirage machine.
- 26:21Speaker 1: What you're talking about is the media, the pollsters, academia, everything,
- 26:26Speaker 1: creating these mirages. Explain how the book came about.
- 26:31Speaker 8: Oh, it's funny, Mark. I was at the University of
- 26:34Speaker 8: Georgia I dropped out to work for a guy named
- 26:37Speaker 8: Newt Gingrich and another guy named Mack Mattingly. Gingrich was
- 26:40Speaker 8: in his first term in Congress and Mattingly was running
- 26:43Speaker 8: for the U.S. Senate.
- 26:44Speaker 6: He got elected.
- 26:44Speaker 8: I went to D.C. So I left Georgia and ended
- 26:47Speaker 8: up at Cambridge University in England, which is where I
- 26:50Speaker 8: took my degree. When I was there, I started working
- 26:53Speaker 8: on a book called The Honoring of Ignorance. I got
- 26:55Speaker 8: a literary agent, Ann Elmo, who's well known. She's passed
- 26:58Speaker 8: away since then. And they pitched the book to all
- 27:01Speaker 8: these publishers. They all said, we love it, but he's
- 27:03Speaker 8: too young to say this. And now I'm 67 years old,
- 27:07Speaker 8: and I'm afraid people are going to say he's too
- 27:08Speaker 8: old to say this. But it's still the same thesis.
- 27:12Speaker 8: It's just changed a lot with the Internet and with
- 27:14Speaker 8: cable television and all the things that have happened since
- 27:17Speaker 8: 40 years ago. And we have one big mirage machine. Basically,
- 27:22Speaker 8: we have a media that they exclude. things. They make
- 27:27Speaker 8: sure you don't see things that are possible about President Trump.
- 27:30Speaker 8: They make sure they harp on the things that are negative.
- 27:33Speaker 8: They then get the pollsters to go out there and
- 27:34Speaker 8: tell you, boy, he is so unpopular. And then they
- 27:36Speaker 8: get the fact checkers who come and fact check them
- 27:39Speaker 8: and say, oh, everything they're saying is right. Why did
- 27:42Speaker 8: a fact check our polling company? And it was Snopes.
- 27:46Speaker 8: And the woman who wrote it, she said, we don't
- 27:48Speaker 8: know anything about this polling firm, and we can't vouch
- 27:51Speaker 8: for whether they're credible. You know that we polled for
- 27:54Speaker 8: the Fox affiliates around the country, owned and operated for
- 27:57Speaker 8: like eight, ten years for Politico, for Newsmax, anybody you
- 28:03Speaker 8: can think of. Yet somehow she couldn't find out anything
- 28:06Speaker 8: about us. So she wrote this terrible review. Great fact checker, huh?
- 28:11Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 28:11Speaker 1: So here's the problem. Obviously, you got, you know, the
- 28:14Speaker 1: universities are all left wing indoctrination camps. But then the
- 28:19Speaker 1: news media goes total fake news. The fact-checkers got totally corrupted.
- 28:25Speaker 1: They're all left-wing, slanted people running these fact-checking sites, which
- 28:30Speaker 1: is what you call the mirage machine. But what on
- 28:33Speaker 1: earth can you do about it? Is it too late?
- 28:36Speaker 8: Well, there are two things. I say at the conclusion
- 28:38Speaker 8: of the book that we're going to go one of
- 28:40Speaker 8: two directions. We're either going to end up with a
- 28:42Speaker 8: country where the blue states have compacts with one another,
- 28:45Speaker 8: and they have their own laws they follow, and the
- 28:47Speaker 8: red states do the same with their own states. Or
- 28:51Speaker 8: we're going to learn as conservatives or Republicans, people just
- 28:55Speaker 8: want to get the truth out, to start every week
- 28:58Speaker 8: putting ads out to say in case you've missed it.
- 29:01Speaker 8: And don't quote the conservative stuff by itself. Quote NBC
- 29:06Speaker 8: News and CNN because they actually have to put up
- 29:09Speaker 8: this good news of what Trump is doing, but they
- 29:11Speaker 8: try to hide it. So instead of hiding it, get
- 29:15Speaker 8: it out there so the public is not so ill-informed.
- 29:19Speaker 8: going into an election. That's the most critical thing, I think,
- 29:22Speaker 8: advice I would give the Republicans and conservatives going into
- 29:26Speaker 8: the future.
- 29:26Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a great book. You should get this new book.
- 29:29Speaker 1: It's called The Honoring of Ignorance. It's all about the
- 29:32Speaker 1: mirage machine. It's Matt Towery, The Honoring of Ignorance. So uh,
- 29:37Speaker 1: if you're a young guy and you just got out
- 29:39Speaker 1: of college, you've been totally indoctrinated into the left. You're
- 29:42Speaker 1: watching left-wing crazy media, reading left-wing fact checkers. Is that
- 29:46Speaker 1: how it's now possible for really nutty candidates, Mamdani or
- 29:51Speaker 1: El Sayed to be elected? Is that how that happened?
- 29:54Speaker 8: That's exactly what has happened. Um, We've had a whole
- 29:58Speaker 8: generation of people who went to school where, for example,
- 30:02Speaker 8: with socialism, one of the reasons that the seniors are
- 30:04Speaker 8: turning out like they are is because they remember the
- 30:06Speaker 8: old Soviet Union. They know what Cuba was about. They
- 30:09Speaker 8: saw the fall of communism in Eastern Europe. They're not
- 30:13Speaker 8: taught about this stuff now, both in secondary schools and
- 30:17Speaker 8: at universities. They're told a completely different story. So they
- 30:21Speaker 8: have no idea about the truth. Now, that doesn't make
- 30:24Speaker 8: these people stupid. It makes them ignorant. That's different. Ignorance
- 30:28Speaker 8: means you just don't know. Doesn't mean you can't learn.
- 30:31Speaker 8: So we've got to make sure that we teach people
- 30:34Speaker 8: the truth and get the truth out there. In fact,
- 30:38Speaker 8: get this book and go to Thanksgiving dinner where I
- 30:41Speaker 8: know half the room is liberal and half is conservative.
- 30:43Speaker 8: Nobody's talking to each other. Give them the book. Tell
- 30:45Speaker 8: them to read it and see if they can come
- 30:47Speaker 8: back and debate you the next week. I guarantee you
- 30:50Speaker 8: they won't be able to beat you. You'll beat them.
- 30:52Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 30:53Speaker 1: So what do you do? How would you ever take
- 30:55Speaker 1: back the universities? You'd have to get rid of the faculty,
- 30:57Speaker 1: the board of trustees and even if you did, wouldn't
- 31:01Speaker 1: it be generations before it helped?
- 31:04Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 31:05Speaker 8: And Mark, what has to happen is the late Charlie
- 31:08Speaker 8: Kirk was a great example. You've got to go to
- 31:10Speaker 8: these places and you've got to tell them the truth.
- 31:13Speaker 8: And Charlie lost his life for doing that. But it
- 31:15Speaker 8: was a great life that he had. I had the
- 31:19Speaker 8: pleasure of knowing him a bit, being on TV with
- 31:21Speaker 8: him on Fox and But we need more people like
- 31:24Speaker 8: him out there. And we also need to get, like
- 31:27Speaker 8: I said, into the mainstream media. Conservative media is only 25%
- 31:32Speaker 8: of what people watch. Most of the news they get
- 31:34Speaker 8: is from Google and Apple and on social media. The
- 31:39Speaker 8: conservatives had to get their story out on those platforms.
- 31:42Speaker 8: And by the way, it would be a good idea
- 31:43Speaker 8: if they created one or two fact-checkers that would check
- 31:46Speaker 8: things right instead of the ones that pick on us
- 31:49Speaker 8: all the time. I'm sure you get picked on. I
- 31:50Speaker 8: know I do. And by the way, I'm retiring as
- 31:53Speaker 8: a pollster, Mark. So I don't have, I have nothing
- 31:57Speaker 8: to lose. This is my last year. All right.
- 32:01Speaker 1: Well, good luck with this. I don't know. It's going
- 32:04Speaker 1: to take a million years to turn things around, but
- 32:06Speaker 1: if you want to, you know, it's, it's doable.
- 32:09Speaker 8: I live in the free state of Florida and this state,
- 32:11Speaker 8: when I went to law school here was as democratic
- 32:14Speaker 8: as it could be. I went back to Atlanta and
- 32:17Speaker 8: had a career there. I came back home to Florida.
- 32:19Speaker 8: And it's as Republican as can be. And they're changing
- 32:22Speaker 8: the universities. They don't let them teach all this nonsense.
- 32:25Speaker 8: It will happen. At some point, the truth and freedom
- 32:28Speaker 8: end up winning.
- 32:29Speaker 1: Hey, everybody get this book. You're going to love this book.
- 32:32Speaker 1: It's called The Honoring of Ignorance about the Mirage Machine.
- 32:36Speaker 1: It's Matt Towery's new book, The Honoring of Ignorance. Go
- 32:39Speaker 1: to Amazon or wherever you get your books and get
- 32:42Speaker 1: the book. Matt Towery, great stuff. Thanks for being with us.
- 32:45Speaker 8: Mark, thank you so much for having me on. I
- 32:47Speaker 8: appreciate it.
- 32:47Speaker 6: All right.
- 32:48Speaker 1: Take care. Hey, don't forget, coming up at noon, Buck
- 32:51Speaker 1: Sexton and Clay Travis. They do a great show every day,

- 33:01Speaker 1: got Jesse Kelly at 6. Every night at 9, you've
- 33:04Speaker 1: got to start listening to this. It's a wonderful show.
- 33:06Speaker 1: Jimmy Fallon, 9 to midnight. Very funny, very, very smart show,
- 33:11Speaker 1: 9 to midnight. Then, of course, I'm here, 3 hours now.
- 33:15Speaker 1: 3 hours every day, 9 to noon. And before I
- 33:19Speaker 1: come on, it's Curtis Lewa and Larry Mendte every morning,
- 33:21Speaker 1: 6 to 9. That's all here on 710WOR.
- 33:26Speaker 2: Mark Simone. Now 9 till noon weekdays. On 710WOR.
- 33:33Speaker 1: Well, hey, President Trump today travels to Georgia this afternoon.
- 33:38Speaker 1: He's on a massive campaign swing. He's got 18 days
- 33:42Speaker 1: left until the midterms. 18 days left. He'll be traveling constantly,
- 33:47Speaker 1: doing rallies in states all over the country. So he
- 33:49Speaker 1: goes to Georgia. Big rally today. And then from there,
- 33:53Speaker 1: he goes to Palm Beach for the first time this season,
- 33:58Speaker 1: for the first time since May. It's been many, many months.
- 34:03Speaker 1: So for the first time, he'll be at Mar-a-Lago. Now,
- 34:06Speaker 1: it's not open yet. It doesn't open until Halloween. But
- 34:10Speaker 1: they're going to have a big dinner there tomorrow night,
- 34:13Speaker 1: big fundraiser, a MAGA something, RNC, a lot of donors.
- 34:18Speaker 1: So big event there tomorrow night. He'll be there for that. Hey,
- 34:20Speaker 1: we're out of time. Don't forget, it's three hours every day.
- 34:23Speaker 1: Now I'm here nine to noon, nine to noon, three
- 34:26Speaker 1: hours a day. And if you can't listen live, you
- 34:29Speaker 1: can listen anytime you want, day or night, just get
