- 2:23we have our first guests that we're gonna talk to today on the business Mixing
- 2:28Podcast right here, we're gonna talk to Coach Tate. I already talked to
- 2:34him and he's got some great, great wisdom, some amazing information that he
- 2:38wants to share with our audience. But first, mister Tate, Coach Tate,
- 2:45I was its coach. Okay, all right now now I'm missing coach.
- 2:47Okay, all right, Coach. First, I want you to give
- 2:51us a couple of words about this business mixing event. Tell us what is
- 2:54your thought about this vision and how they get down Paul and Sylvester they get
- 3:00down out here. It's a great opportunity, especially for small businesses and the
- 3:07mixer they've been around seventeen years. I've been here with them for seventeen years,
- 3:15and it helps me let people know who we are, what we do.
- 3:20At different times. There's children that come through. I got pictures of
- 3:23different functions that we've done. We used to the first eight years being here.
- 3:30I'm from East Palo Alto, California. That's the name of our program,
- 3:32eastpal Auto t Ball Pitchure Machine, which we grew up right across the
- 3:38street from Stanford University, and with that we stress the educational side of life
- 3:45opposed to be the next great baseball player. But by the time you finish,
- 3:50you broke because nobody showed you or taught you how to handle your money,
- 3:54how to handle business, do investments in all of that kind of stuff.
- 3:58But these are things that we take off to youngsters if we get them
- 4:00at four years old, when we start we start talking to them about that.
- 4:04I want to see their report cards, see what they're doing in the
- 4:06classroom. All of those things is to help them. And one of the
- 4:11things that I tell them, I'm trying to help you prepare so when your
- 4:16parents take the key from you, you can take care of yourself. And
- 4:21that's all about getting good grades in school, all about knowing how to communicate
- 4:27with people and those types of things. Nice. Nice, That is awesome,
- 4:31man, you have a heart for the youth. We need people to
- 4:34mentor we need people to pour into our next us generation because we don't know
- 4:41what they go through at night, you know, we don't know what their
- 4:43family life is like. So they need a refuse. They need a place
- 4:46like this. So, yeah, this is coach tate in if I'm correct,
- 4:50you are thus baseball softball. What kind of a coach is baseball baseball
- 4:58I coach. I played baseball all my life and I coached my first little
- 5:04league baseball team in nineteen sixty two, so I've been coaching this for a
- 5:11long time. The program East Palo Alto t Ball Pitch Machine we started in
- 5:16nineteen ninety two in East Palo Alto, California, and I stopped coaching the
- 5:21little league because we were getting kids at eight and nine years old that didn't
- 5:26have a clue what the game of baseball was about. Because they were being
- 5:30raised by either single parent or grandparents. They didn't have time to go out
- 5:34and show them. So come play for me. We're gonna teach you the
- 5:38fundamentals of the game and you progress from there. Nice, Nice, and
- 5:43I love the heart that you have. You don't want to just focus on
- 5:46their athletic ability. You want to develop them their mind, their heart,
- 5:50their body. And it goes in line with what we do. We are
- 5:54a radio network of podcast network, but we first started off as a Christian
- 6:00hip hop club club His Hot and so we brought Christian artists, Christian rap
- 6:04artists. We did live shows, we did live events, and we invited
- 6:11the youth in to come have a good time. Get some clean music,
- 6:14because believe it or not, music can influence, especially the youth, you
- 6:18know what I mean. Music tell you how to feel, tell you how
- 6:21to walk, how to talking, and things like that. So we come
- 6:25we give them positive music, a positive atmosphere. And right now we are
- 6:30looking for a new location and new building so we can start building up.
- 6:33You know, right before COVID we had to shut things down and slow down
- 6:38a little bit. But we're still in here. We're still out here,
- 6:41and we still want to do something for the youth. So maybe we can
- 6:45network, maybe we can come over and do a concert for you guys or
- 6:46something. Yeah. Well, you know, we try to introduce them to
- 6:50some any and all of it, because you never know what might hit a
- 6:56youngster's nerve and point them in a direction that they can do better later in
- 7:00life. If I could give you an example, when the Mirage was still
- 7:06open and they had the dolphins over there, we had a chance to meet
- 7:12the director and he would give us opportunity to bring over a dozen and a
- 7:16half kids at a time. And we went over this one particular Saturday Sunday
- 7:23morning, and one of the young ladies in the organization, she was about
- 7:28twelve years old. She wrote a thank you note that when she gave it
- 7:33to me, I had to send it over to Dave, and Dave looked
- 7:36at it and gave her an opportunity teacher come out on a Saturday and shadow
- 7:42one of his people working with the dolphins. She wanted to go into that
- 7:46type of work, you know, so those we try to put him in
- 7:49situations where they could see something other than the five mile radius that they grew
- 7:55up in. You know, We've taken them to spring training in Phoenix,
- 7:58Arizona. Is it Fort Watuka and Fort Watuka, Arizona and Fort Watuka is
- 8:05the Museum for the Buffalo Soldiers. Twenty seventeen, we took a group of
- 8:11kids to Qbe before a week. The sky is the limit if we really
- 8:16put our hearts and effort into what we're doing. And that's what our program
- 8:22try to do, is to make sure that happens. To date, all
- 8:26of our youngsters that have gone to college have gone academically, even though we
- 8:31are a sports organization. Man, my head's off to you. I believe
- 8:35that is an amazing achievement, an amazing accomplishment. It speaks of the integrity
- 8:41and the heart behind what you're doing. And my hope in prayer is that
- 8:46this program goes on forever because we definitely need something like this. This is
- 8:52amazing that we have this in our community. And can I ask you how
- 8:58can people contact you? Where are you guys located? If there's a website
- 9:01at email address or an address you can share. If some of our listeners
- 9:07want to sign up their youth in your program, what is the process?
- 9:11All right, we're on the field right now. We'll be playing until the
- 9:16end of March. We go back on the field the middle of June and
- 9:18play to the end of July. We play at Doolottle Community Center, which
- 9:24is Lake Meat and Jay. You would come in from the lake Mead side
- 9:28behind the library. That's where we play at on the baseball fields. My
- 9:33name is Coach Tate. Coach Tate twelve at yahoo dot com is my website.
- 9:41Ballcharts dot com. Forward Slash Junior Giants is our website and we have
- 9:48pictures on there from our trip to Cuba, trips that we've made to Birmingham,
- 9:54Alabama. We do golf tournament every year, which is a fundraiser.
- 10:01Our program is free to the youngsters. But the city want money, so
- 10:03we have to raise some money to pay the city buy the uniforms for them
- 10:09and those types of things. So you know, we do different fundraisers try
- 10:11to make it happen. But you know, we love to have your youngsters
- 10:16out. Like I said, it's no cost to it. They can come
- 10:20out and we're gonna teach them fundamentals so that they can go to the next
- 10:24level and play a post to just putting them on the field and say,
- 10:26oh, my team won the championship, but they can't go to the next
- 10:30level and make the team because nobody taught them what they're supposed to be doing
- 10:33and how they're supposed to be doing it. I love it. I love
- 10:37it getting the mentorship, getting the fundamentals down, laying down a strong foundation.
- 10:43So man, that's amazing. I appreciate that. And we're definitely keep
- 10:48in touch. Man, Yes, I sure appreciate you letting them come on
- 10:52your program. Thanks a million, Thank you, sir. All right,

- 18:23right, it's your boy, mister His Hot back at you here at the
- 18:26Santa Fe Hotel. The lvbn M Business Mixer goes down every first Tuesday of
- 18:33the month. I'm telling you, man, this is the spot that you
- 18:37want to be if you are a business owner, if you have an entrepreneur
- 18:41spirit, and I'm right now I'm gonna talk to my boy Laurel, And
- 18:45to be honest, I've been waiting for a minute to tatoo him because he
- 18:48is so young, sixteen years old, and he is in business. He's
- 18:52grinding. He has a catering situation. So we'll let him tell you about
- 18:59that. But before we get into that, my brother say a few words
- 19:03about this business mixer in a shout out to Paula and Sylvester got you yeah,
- 19:07yeah, yeah. So this is an amazing event for any local entrepreneurs.
- 19:11If you got food, if you got clothes, jewey, whatever you're
- 19:15in. This is a great way to network and connect with people. You
- 19:17know, you got a lot of hitting gyms here people may not know,
- 19:19and Paula has a great event going on here every first Tuesday of the month.
- 19:22You guys can meet new people and everything you got, like I said,
- 19:26a wide variety of clothes, food, businesses, community charities, all
- 19:30that stuff. You guys, come out if your local business or just want
- 19:33to kind of see some gems in your community, come out definitely every first
- 19:36Tuesday of the month. LVBN that mixture. This is a great time for
- 19:38y'all. Awesome, awesome, My brother and uh, I'm really impressed with
- 19:44you. You know. Right here, I got my daughter, she's fourteen,
- 19:47she's painting and stuff like that. And my son he's he wants to
- 19:52do snacks and things like that. They both have a business entrepreneur spirit as
- 19:56well. So I love it when the youth when you grab hold of when
- 20:00you're young. You're sixteen years old from one understand man, and I just
- 20:03want to know, man, what got you doing in this direction? Man,
- 20:07you know, at such a young ag most definitely, I'm gonna talk
- 20:11about it all the time. My biggest inspiration and my mentor was my mother
- 20:15from a young age. You know, I always see her working, grinding,
- 20:17hustling. She was an entrepreneur before I was, so she kind of
- 20:19coached me up on a lot of things, not just about food, but
- 20:22being entrepreneur in itself, you know, even the ins and outs. And
- 20:26she really told me the biggest thing was like you have to be dedicated to
- 20:27this, like you have to really want it, because if you want to
- 20:30be an entrepreneur, this is you. You know, you got to make
- 20:33sure you're going to be there for the bad days, the good days,
- 20:36the social days. Every day you have to be there. So she was
- 20:37really my biggest mentor, and she's my driving force for today. And you
- 20:41know, everything I do is to try to, you know, make her
- 20:42proud and keep us going. So definitely her she got me my drive.
- 20:48Awesome, awesome man, you are. I can see you as as a
- 20:51millionaire, you know, multiple millionaires, you know, starting off now.
- 20:55Man, So that's cool, all right, man. We'll tell us about
- 20:57your business, tell us the name of your business and what you do,
- 21:00and then tell people how they can connect with you and you know what I'm
- 21:03saying, and you know, get your services, sir. So my business
- 21:07name is Chili Barkers. We're actually a food truck. We move all over
- 21:11Vegas. We do catering, we do apartment complexes, festivals, anything we
- 21:17can get our hands into. I've been doing it for about four years now.
- 21:19Like I said, with me and my mom, we have a wide
- 21:22variety of chili items, but what I'm most known for is my cornbread bunk
- 21:26cake and all it up on my homemade chili cheese, sour kimo, green
- 21:29onion. And we also have my bacon Toop, Chili dog, my chili
- 21:32chips, and my two drinks my blutbet elimonade in my extream kool Aid.
- 21:34We usually do events based on the weekend because you know, I'm still in
- 21:37school, so I can't I can't do doing a weekenday. But we usually
- 21:41operational from Friday through Sunday unless we have like a special event request like a
- 21:45week in advance. But you know, you still have to kind of book
- 21:48me because I'm in school. So but yeah, we kind of just do
- 21:51that on the weekends. But you can definitely check me out all social media
- 21:52platforms Facebook, Twitter, TikTok At, Chili Barkers c Hi, l Y
- 22:00Barker's b A r K e r S. There you go. Nice nice
- 22:03man and real quick Man. I started a Christian hip hop club back in
- 22:08twenty twelve and we ran pretty strong for like seven years. Right when COVID
- 22:15hit, we had to slow down. But I'm getting ready to get my
- 22:18events back up. Man. We going to the juvenile detention centers. We
- 22:22try to reach the at risk youth, you know what I mean, those
- 22:25who need direction and stuff like that. And my passion is the media,
- 22:29the music. You know, the music there was real powerful, and especially
- 22:33the hip hop. They glorify drugs, disrespect women and violence and stuff like
- 22:37that. And we know how powerful music can be, you know what I'm
- 22:41saying. And so the music we promote is like I said, Christian hip
- 22:45hop, we speak life, we promote life, you know what I mean.
- 22:48We promote positivity, stuff like that. And so the reason why I'm
- 22:53saying that and I'm mentioning that is because when I open up a new spot

- 25:56Mister his Hop on all social media platforms. Close out like I always
- 26:02do, it's not about us, it's all about the Christ in us.
- 26:07Well, y'all know we cannot close out this event without interviewing one of my
- 26:12favorite business owners. I like to see her grow like a like a flower.
- 26:18She has been growing her branches out. She's been spreading out of her
- 26:23she's getting a bus. People are recognizing her art, her talent, and
- 26:29her gifts. And it's been a while since I had her on there,
- 26:32you know, since you know they live with me and stuff. You know,
- 26:34I don't bombard them with the podcast and like that. So I like
- 26:37to spread it out because I want them to give y'all an update on what
- 26:42she's been doing and what she's been able to accomplish and everything. So,
- 26:48last but not least, I got my daughter our money on the high seat.
- 26:52What's up, money baby? I welcome back what is in a minute?
- 27:00Almost I would say a year. I remember when we first started coming
- 27:03out here, we had you on the podcast. So what has happened since
- 27:07you first you found him? Oh, they're in the room the whole time.
- 27:15Okay, all right, that's Paula and she is actually the event founder,
- 27:21one of the co founders, and she was giving us gifts for coming
- 27:25out here. So Paula and Sylvester shot out, so, yeah, talking
- 27:30to our MONI, it's been a minute since we've been coming to this business
- 27:34mixing event. Ken, I want to ask you. Can you remember the
- 27:38first time you came out? No, you can't remember it. No,
- 27:45do you remember did you have a table or did you have to You actually
- 27:49had to share, We had to share a table. Yeah, I had
- 27:53a part of your table and you brought your paintings and stuff like that.
- 27:59Yep, okay, all right, And do you remember the interview I did
- 28:03with you at that time? Somewhat you've grown a little bit and since in
- 28:10you grown up little bit sus In. All right, Well tell us where
- 28:15you at now? How have you progressed just by being at this mixing event,
- 28:22just at the early age of fourteen years old? So how I have
- 28:26progressed from being all this biggest business mixer. At first I have to share
- 28:30a table with you, But now I have my own table in this event.
- 28:34I have my paintings in the front at the stage. I have two
- 28:37tables. So that's good. And I love the progress, getting to connect
- 28:41with people and having more opportunities to show what I do. Come on now,
- 28:48she said, show what she do, y'all. So she's got these
- 28:52amazing paintings. She is an amazing artist. She's starting to get a bus.
- 28:56She's people around the city, like people who come to this mixer.
- 29:02They come and they see what she does, and they actually come back.
- 29:07You had a few people that came back just to buy your paintings, right
- 29:10yep. And so off the top of your head, how many paintings do
- 29:15you think you've sold so far since she started coming out? Oh, I'll
- 29:22just say fifty, Wow, fifty Come on now. So she's she's been
- 29:27doing good. She's been doing good. See you see what you guys are
- 29:30missing when you don't come out get these business mixers. And I want to
- 29:33say that she has her own table today, She's got two tables and we're
- 29:40in the same room with MGM representatives, Caesar's Palace, the Urban Chamber of
- 29:47Commerces out here, these business like these are some big businesses and also small
- 29:52businesses. This is nothing to sneeze at, Like you are really in a
- 29:56prominent place if you know, ity're not at fourteen years old, you know
- 30:00what I mean. So I'm very proud of you of being able to sell
- 30:06getting your name out. And that's the important thing is getting your name out.
- 30:08People getting to know you. They see your face and once they see
- 30:12your paintings and they'll know where they came from. So that's amazing. And
- 30:18I know it's not easy coming out here sometimes and I know it takes a
- 30:22lot of work, but you got to have passion and you got to have
- 30:26a heart. You gotta believe in what you're doing. And you're just starting
- 30:29out. So I say this is good. I wish I had someone when
- 30:32I was fourteen years old to bring me to places like this, you know,
- 30:36and expose me to this. So all right, well we're gonna get
- 30:41get ready to wrap it up and everything. But is there anything else you
- 30:45want to say about just your experience about coming out here and the exposure that
- 30:51you've had so far. I love connecting with people and getting myself out there,
- 30:56and I love that I have a new business partner and yeah, yeah,
- 31:03yeah, yeah, we know who that business partner is. Well,
- 31:06we'll share that with y'all maybe on another show. Who the business partner?
- 31:11And you love making that money? Yep? That's scrilla yep. Yeah,
- 31:15all right, And I want to work it out to where we can start
- 31:18selling some of those online, maybe put them on our website or something in
- 31:22our store. Okay, y'all, well, we're gonna wrap it up for
- 31:26real this time. This is mister his Hot coming at you. You got
- 31:30something to say, bro, Follow his hot, follow his hip. Okay,
- 31:37I love it. I love it. That's that's my silling Royal.
- 31:41You know. I love taking him out here to this business mixer. I
- 31:45love getting them exposure, getting just being able to mix with these, uh,
- 31:51these prominent people in our community. So once again, I want to
- 31:53invite y'all out every first Tuesday of the month at the Santa Fe Hotel,
- 31:57the LV bet in Him Business Mixer. I'm your boy, mister hits Hot.
- 32:05I'm gonna close it out. It's not about us, it's all about
- 32:07the christ in Us,
