- 0:04SPEAKER_00: Hello and welcome to the Reborn Podcast where we dive deep into personal and spiritual development, explore the ins and outs of entrepreneurship, and unlock the secrets of effective leadership.
- 0:16SPEAKER_00: I'm your host, Tony Boosters, and I'm thrilled to have you with us today.
- 0:20SPEAKER_00: In this episode, we're going to explore a universal truth that ties together the worlds of fitness, life, spirituality, and business, the ebb and flow of good and bad days.
- 0:33SPEAKER_00: We'll discover how these experiences can teach us resilience and the important importance of staying grounded through life's inevitable ups and downs downs.
- 0:44SPEAKER_00: So whether you're lifting weights or lifting your business or lifting your family, whatever you are lifting, let's dive right in.
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: Let's start with the gym.
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: It's a place where many of us seek strength, both physically and mentally.
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: However, not every workout is a PR or a personal best.
- 1:05SPEAKER_00: And not every day do we feel like champions.
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: Some days we walk into the gym feeling invincible.
- 1:10SPEAKER_00: And other days it feels like every weight is twice as heavy.
- 1:15SPEAKER_00: This inconsistency might seem frustrating, but it's actually a powerful teacher.
- 1:20SPEAKER_00: Here are two lessons you can learn from this.
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: The first lesson is resilience.
- 1:26SPEAKER_00: On the tough days when the last thing you did, when the last thing you want to do is pick up that dumbbell, you learn resilience.
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: You show up and you push through.
- 1:35SPEAKER_00: Even when the progress seems invisible, this teaches us that success isn't about how you perform on your best days, but how you manage the worst ones.
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: And the second lesson you can learn here is in permanence.
- 1:48SPEAKER_00: The good news and the bad news is that nothing, nothing lasts forever other than Jesus.
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: The high from an incredible workout will fade just as the struggle of a tough session will pass.
- 2:02SPEAKER_00: Understanding that both good and bad times are temporary helps us maintain perspective and balance.
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: Now moving from the gym to the business world, we encounter a similar rhythm.
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: Business like fitness is full of highs and lows.
- 2:17SPEAKER_00: Some days your company is thriving and everything is falling into place.
- 2:22SPEAKER_00: Other days it might feel like nothing is working out.
- 2:25SPEAKER_00: In business, the ability to adapt.
- 2:28SPEAKER_00: And in one of the first lessons, there's another two lessons you can learn.
- 2:32SPEAKER_00: One of the first ones is adaptability.
- 2:35SPEAKER_00: In business, the ability to adapt is crucial.
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: Just like adjusting your workout routine to overcome a plateau, you must pivot and innovate in your business strategies to overcome challenges.
- 2:47SPEAKER_00: This flexibility is often the difference between a company that survives and one that thrives.
- 2:54SPEAKER_00: Now, I don't know about you, but I want to I want to be the leader of a company that not only survives, but you know, I would love for it to survive, but I also want it to thrive.
- 3:06SPEAKER_00: And the ability to adapt is crucial if you want to lead a business, a ministry, a nonprofit, a family.
- 3:17SPEAKER_00: If you want to lead, you must be willing and able to adapt.
- 3:24SPEAKER_00: Now, the second lesson you can learn here is long-term vision.
- 3:27SPEAKER_00: In both business and fitness, it's vital to keep your eye on a long-term goal.
- 3:33SPEAKER_00: The daily fluctuations are less daunting when you remember your ultimate vision.
- 3:38SPEAKER_00: This perspective is allowed perspective allows you to make decisions that align with your core values and long-term objectives rather than reacting impulsively to temporary setbacks.
- 3:49SPEAKER_00: Now, there's a few things I unpack here.
- 3:51SPEAKER_00: The first thing uh that's on my mind is this perspective allows you to make decisions that align with your core values and long-term objectives.
- 4:00SPEAKER_00: If you do not have core values and long-term objectives, what I have struggled with in the past was setting a goal for 50 years out, 10 years out, several, several, several years out, so seemingly so far away.
- 4:17SPEAKER_00: And that is not gonna wake you up in the morning with excitement because I'm here.
- 4:24SPEAKER_00: Let's say I have a million dollar a year business and I want to make a billion-dollar a year business.
- 4:30SPEAKER_00: Okay, I'm not gonna wake up excited because I get to go make a million billion dollars because I'm so far from that.
- 4:36SPEAKER_00: I'm$999 million away.
- 4:38SPEAKER_00: I'm literally 99.99% away from my goal.
- 4:42SPEAKER_00: So instead, what you want to do is you want to reverse engineer that.
- 4:46SPEAKER_00: And okay, this is 10 years.
- 4:47SPEAKER_00: What do I want to do in 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1?
- 4:50SPEAKER_00: And then months and days and even to the hour.
- 4:53SPEAKER_00: That's when you start having a daily planner.
- 4:55SPEAKER_00: What am I going to achieve today?
- 4:57SPEAKER_00: One of the things I love about John Maxwell is uh, I'm sorry, and this is not John Maxwell, it's um Keller Williams, uh, the the founder of Keller Williams, Gary Keller.
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: Uh, he has a thing.
- 5:08SPEAKER_00: It's called what is your one thing?
- 5:10SPEAKER_00: What is the one thing I can achieve today that will set everything else to be much easier or unnecessary entirely?
- 5:19SPEAKER_00: What is the one thing today that will get me one step closer to this ultimate goal that I've set for 10 years out?
- 5:29SPEAKER_00: And then how am I gonna uh do these tasks day to day, uh week to week, month to month, and then so on while aligning with my core values?
- 5:40SPEAKER_00: So you also need to have a set of core values.
- 5:42SPEAKER_00: I'm not gonna tell you how many to have.
- 5:44SPEAKER_00: Uh, some people say three, some people say five.
- 5:46SPEAKER_00: Uh, I personally have, I believe, eight in my company.
- 5:50SPEAKER_00: And, you know, some people are probably gonna say that's that's excessive, that's a lot.
- 5:54SPEAKER_00: And, you know, to each road, I think it definitely is, it is quite a few.
- 5:58SPEAKER_00: So I can I can definitely see where you're coming from with that.
- 6:01SPEAKER_00: But uh the way my company implements them and goes over them, reviews them, talks about them is how we're able to ingrain them uh in our company and how we operate day to day.
- 6:13SPEAKER_00: Uh and so make sure you have core values, make sure you have long-term objectives and not only long-term objectives, but again, reverse engineer those into short-term objectives.
- 6:25SPEAKER_00: So, two lessons you can learn uh here are adaptability and long-term vision.
- 6:31SPEAKER_00: Now, uh now that we've explored the parallels between gym life and business, let's talk about how we can integrate these uh these lessons into our daily routines.
- 6:41SPEAKER_00: So, the first way is daily reflection.
- 6:44SPEAKER_00: Spend a few minutes each day reflecting on both this, uh both your successes and your challenges.
- 6:50SPEAKER_00: Acknowledge that both are essential parts of growth.
- 6:52SPEAKER_00: Now, different people are gonna have different ways that they do this.
- 6:55SPEAKER_00: One of uh Alex Hermosy, he he does a thing where he talks to himself, he sets a meeting for himself with himself for I believe one hour or his future self.
- 7:04SPEAKER_00: Uh I can't remember what he calls him, but talks to him future self uh who's accomplished all that he wants to accomplish, you know, at 80 years old or whatever.
- 7:13SPEAKER_00: And so that could be your way you do it.
- 7:15SPEAKER_00: This is that's once a week.
- 7:16SPEAKER_00: Uh, and ideally you want to try and do it once a day if possible.
- 7:20SPEAKER_00: Uh some other people, like myself, they're gonna pray, they're gonna spend time with God, reflecting on both your successes and your challenges.
- 7:27SPEAKER_00: Some people you might just journal.
- 7:29SPEAKER_00: I've also uh I'm also a journaler and I like to write things down.
- 7:33SPEAKER_00: I what I've found, and uh this is I believe backed by science uh and studies, is that you ingrain, you remember the things that you write down on physical paper uh more than the things that you just write down in your notes on a on a computer.
- 7:52SPEAKER_00: And so I try to get a physical uh notepad and pen, and that helps me.
- 7:59SPEAKER_00: So uh that's one that's one way.
- 8:01SPEAKER_00: The second way is mindfulness practices.
- 8:03SPEAKER_00: Incorporate mindfulness techniques such as meditation or, like I said, journaling to help you stay grounded and focused on your goals.
- 8:11SPEAKER_00: Now, for me, again, my primary mindfulness practice is prayer.
- 8:17SPEAKER_00: I want to be in touch with the Holy Spirit, I want to make sure that I'm doing God's will and not my own, because I know that God's will is far superior to my own, and that he has a plan for my life.
- 8:34SPEAKER_00: And so even if I have this long-term objectives, if it's not aligned with his will, then I don't want it.
- 8:40SPEAKER_00: Okay, so that's another thing.
- 8:42SPEAKER_00: Uh, is prayer, meditation, journaling.
- 8:45SPEAKER_00: It'll help you stay grounded and help you stay focused on your goals.
- 8:50SPEAKER_00: The third way to integrate this is celebrate small wins.
- 8:55SPEAKER_00: Don't wait for monumental achievements to celebrate, recognize, and appreciate small victories to maintain motivation.
- 9:00SPEAKER_00: One of the biggest issues I've had is having again these massive goals.
- 9:07SPEAKER_00: I want to build a billion plus dollar thing, and I know when I get you a billion, it's gonna be 10 billion and a hundred and so on.
- 9:14SPEAKER_00: And when I compare myself to my future self, I feel tiny.
- 9:20SPEAKER_00: I feel like, man, I'm so far from where I want to be.
- 9:22SPEAKER_00: But if I compare myself to who I was a year ago, six months ago, three months ago, I'm like, man, I have grown so far, and and my company, God willing, will be at least at six figures a month uh in revenue here by the end of the year.
- 9:41SPEAKER_00: We're right right there knocking on a door.
- 9:43SPEAKER_00: So uh praying for that to happen here soon, and and we'll see if it is God's will uh and if it will be.
- 9:51SPEAKER_00: Um but that's one thing, and trying to get to 250 by Q1.
- 9:56SPEAKER_00: So we have some lofty uh or seemingly lofty goals, but then I compare them to, I'm like, man, I want to build a billion-dollar thing.
- 10:03SPEAKER_00: If I'm doing$250,000 a month, that's$3 million, I believe.
- 10:09SPEAKER_00: Is that right?
- 10:10SPEAKER_00: $3 million.
- 10:11SPEAKER_00: So it seems small.
- 10:13SPEAKER_00: It's like, okay, I'm still$997 million away.
- 10:16SPEAKER_00: How do I get to this billion-dollar thing?
- 10:19SPEAKER_00: And but but I think it's crucial to celebrate and appreciate your small victories, to maintain motivation, main make sure your mental health is in in check.
- 10:30SPEAKER_00: I think one of the most important things, if not the most important thing, other than uh Christ in spirituality, is your mental health.
- 10:39SPEAKER_00: Your mental health will make your workouts better, your mental health will make your business better, your mental health will make your relationships better, it'll make your life better.
- 10:47SPEAKER_00: And so make sure you are doing what you can to keep up your mental health, otherwise, it's gonna uh negatively impact all areas of your life.
- 10:59SPEAKER_00: Now, the fourth way is to seek support.
- 11:02SPEAKER_00: Now, whether it's a gym buddy or a business mentor, surround yourself with people who uplift you and challenge you.
- 11:08SPEAKER_00: One of the most cliche things you'll hear on the internet is the five people you surround yourself with are the equivalent of who you will become.
- 11:20SPEAKER_00: And what I've found is that it's exactly true.
- 11:22SPEAKER_00: I'm I used to in high school I would hang out with people who were drinking and smoking and kind of throwing their lives away.
- 11:30SPEAKER_00: God, you know, God had his hand in that, and and for me, I never actually gave in to the to the substances, but I still I wasn't living a life I wanted to live by being around these people.
- 11:41SPEAKER_00: Now, today I'm around people who uh have a great relationship with Christ, they have a great relationship with their family, their wives, their children.
- 11:50SPEAKER_00: Uh they have a great business or a great you know, a great calling, God's calling on to not all of them are business owners.
- 11:58SPEAKER_00: Uh, and by being around these people, I've been able to grow at an exponential rate.
- 12:06SPEAKER_00: What I've uh been telling a lot of people recently is other than God Himself, obviously God comes first and God is first, but other than God Himself, what's been most pivotal for my personal, personal growth, spiritual growth, professional, and so on, has been a the gym, but two, uh and and probably more importantly, is uh my community, my brotherhood, my uh you know, my sisters in Christ, my my mentors, my coaches, and some of these people have paid to you know to coach me, and and I'm fine with that.
- 12:44SPEAKER_00: Some of these people I have been paid by, and again, I'm fine with that.
- 12:51SPEAKER_00: But that doesn't mean that now because we changed uh finances, you're just all of a sudden in a in a transactional relationship.
- 13:03SPEAKER_00: So I strongly encourage you to find Jim Buddy is great.
- 13:07SPEAKER_00: I think I personally work out by myself, but I definitely found when I end with a buddy, it's much easier to push that last ounce of strength you have.
- 13:16SPEAKER_00: Uh and definitely if you are in business or leadership, or again, if you even want to have a family, find someone who has done what you want to do.
- 13:28SPEAKER_00: So I'm blessed with people who are successful in business and they're successful, you know, they have uh a great family and they have a great relationship with Christ.
- 13:36SPEAKER_00: And so I'm blessed to have all these people kind of in one person.
- 13:40SPEAKER_00: Uh, but for you, it might be different.
- 13:42SPEAKER_00: You might have to find here's my business coach, here's my uh my life coach, and here is uh my my you know my pastor, right?
- 13:50SPEAKER_00: And so that's another thing.
- 13:52SPEAKER_00: But uh now let's move on to some questions uh from our listeners and just people that I've spoken with here briefly.
- 13:59SPEAKER_00: And one of the uh one of the questions that I've been come coming up with a lot because I'm very outgoing and uh I'm I'm always kind of high energy, and I don't get down on myself.
- 14:12SPEAKER_00: And so one of the questions I receive pretty often is how do you stay motivated on bad days?
- 14:18SPEAKER_00: And that's a fantastic question.
- 14:20SPEAKER_00: On bad days, I remind myself of my why.
- 14:24SPEAKER_00: I think about my goals and the reasons I started my journey.
- 14:29SPEAKER_00: Uh, sometimes I also take a step back to reassess my approach and give myself a break when needed.
- 14:36SPEAKER_00: Motivation can wane, but commitment keeps you going.
- 14:40SPEAKER_00: Now, again, there's a couple things I want to unpack there.
- 14:43SPEAKER_00: First of which is my why, right?
- 14:47SPEAKER_00: And my why is because of in large part my path of not fitting in, of not having community, of of having very poor mental and physical health, and being in and out of uh therapy, intensive therapy, being a high school dropout, uh, and and and all these things, but ultimately my why and my purpose is to serve the Lord our God and and build his kingdom.
- 15:13SPEAKER_00: And so that's a that's a pretty powerful why.
- 15:16SPEAKER_00: You know, that's a that's that's a why that I think can keep anyone going uh strong for a very, very, very long time.
- 15:25SPEAKER_00: And now uh back to the reasons I started my journey.
- 15:29SPEAKER_00: Again, I was uh, you know, uh there's a there's a phrase I've been hearing a lot recently, which is God prefers to choose the ones who are not qualified, the ones who did come from some sense of abuse, the ones who did come from porn addition, the one that the ones that did come from uh you know, I don't know, they were a murderer.
- 15:53SPEAKER_00: Like you look at the Bible and you're like, man, how did this guy get chosen by God after what he did in his past?
- 16:01SPEAKER_00: And what I found is even for me, like uh I I think of the story Abram, or actually, I one of the stories I relate to the most in the Bible is Simon Peter.
- 16:13SPEAKER_00: And you know, his name was Simon, and God or Jesus changed it to Peter.
- 16:18SPEAKER_00: And I use my legal name as Antonio.
- 16:21SPEAKER_00: I went by that my entire you know, 18 and a half years of my life, but somehow recently I started going by Tony a couple years ago, and I didn't realize until maybe a couple months ago that hey, that was probably a God thing.
- 16:34SPEAKER_00: That like when people call me Antonio anymore, it doesn't feel it just like that's not my name, right?
- 16:41SPEAKER_00: And so that's one thing is is remembering why I started and and my why is to serve the Lord uh and build uh his kingdom and and disciple and and so on.
- 16:55SPEAKER_00: And um again taking a step back to reassess my approach and give myself a break when needed.
- 17:02SPEAKER_00: Um what I like to do tangibly if I'm getting kind of you know to a point where I'm not being productive in my work, like throughout the day, I like to switch from fit uh from mental to physical energy.
- 17:18SPEAKER_00: So I'll go on a walk, uh, depending on what my day looks like.
- 17:22SPEAKER_00: If I have time, I'll go to the gym like uh just in the middle of the day, and then I'll finish my day uh after the gym, and that can really re-up my energy.
- 17:32SPEAKER_00: Uh, and so that's one tangible item you can take away from this.
- 17:37SPEAKER_00: Now, the second question is what do you do when your business is in a slum?
- 17:43SPEAKER_00: So, what I say to this is when business isn't going well, I focus on the fundamentals.
- 17:49SPEAKER_00: To me, for me, there are pretty much two move two major moving parts in my business.
- 17:56SPEAKER_00: And so I analyze what's working and what's not, and I lean into the aspects of the business that are still strong.
- 18:02SPEAKER_00: Now, ideally, uh, depending on where you are in your business, especially uh the further along you get, you want to be tracking metrics, you want to have KPIs, uh, key performance indicators, and you want to be able to measure, okay, this is not working objectively.
- 18:19SPEAKER_00: The numbers show this is not working.
- 18:22SPEAKER_00: Okay, so what am I gonna do?
- 18:23SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna do what works based off the numbers, not based off my feelings.
- 18:28SPEAKER_00: Uh, and then additionally, seeking feedback from customers and team members can provide new insights and solutions.
- 18:35SPEAKER_00: So I talk to my team, I'm like, hey, why is this not working?
- 18:40SPEAKER_00: And it's okay, needs you know more rehab than we thought.
- 18:43SPEAKER_00: It needs uh the ARV is lower.
- 18:46SPEAKER_00: The you know, and these are just you know a few different numbers from you know the type of business I'm in at as a real estate investor, but uh obviously it's gonna change from business to business.
- 18:57SPEAKER_00: So uh that is pretty much it.
- 18:59SPEAKER_00: Uh when business is not going well, I focus on the fundamentals, make sure the fundamentals are are working.
- 19:08SPEAKER_00: And you know, I think of you always hear people say you know, you see these athletes or whatever that want to be fancy, right?
- 19:19SPEAKER_00: And great.
- 19:21SPEAKER_00: Uh I think of uh Lance Stevenson, but where are the fundamentals?
- 19:26SPEAKER_00: Because Jordan can also be can also be flashy, can also be uh fancy with how he's dribbling or passing the ball or shooting the ball or doing a layup or whatever.
- 19:35SPEAKER_00: But he also has the fundamentals, and so the fundamentals are where everything starts, the fundamentals are your foundation.
- 19:42SPEAKER_00: Uh so with that said, thank you so much for tuning into this episode of the Reborn Podcast.
- 19:49SPEAKER_00: I hope these insights inspire you to embrace the highs and lows in your personal and professional life.
- 19:55SPEAKER_00: Uh remember, it's not about avoiding the bad days because that is not possible.
- 20:02SPEAKER_00: Statistically, 50% of your days are gonna be below average.
- 20:10SPEAKER_00: Okay, so you cannot avoid the bad days, but learning from them should create a stronger, more resilient version of yourself.
- 20:19SPEAKER_00: Do not avoid them.
- 20:21SPEAKER_00: Use them.
- 20:22SPEAKER_00: If you enjoyed today's episode, please subscribe and leave a review.
