- 0:00Speaker 1: This is Mark Simon Show. I'm seventen wr well. Michael
- 0:08Speaker 1: Goodwin the finest columnist in America. You can read his
- 0:11Speaker 1: column every Sunday and every Wednesday in the New York
- 0:15Speaker 1: Post and all his columns a up on the New
- 0:17Speaker 1: York Post website. You should take a look at him.
- 0:19Speaker 1: And he's with us now. Michael Goodwin, how you doing?
- 0:22Speaker 2: Good morning? Mark?
- 0:23Speaker 1: Thank you read the column. You're not a big fan
- 0:26Speaker 1: of the Iran deal, but then most people are not
- 0:30Speaker 1: big fans of the Iran deal. But it's just a
- 0:32Speaker 1: middle chapter, it's not the final chapter.
- 0:35Speaker 2: I think that's a positive way to look at it,
- 0:39Speaker 2: is that, as I say at the he's the bottom
- 0:42Speaker 2: of the column, the president and Vice President have sixty
- 0:46Speaker 2: days to make it better. If they don't, then I
- 0:51Speaker 2: feel that there will be lots of criticisms that the
- 0:55Speaker 2: war was for not and it would be hard for
- 0:59Speaker 2: them to reaject trap.
- 1:01Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, you try to compare it to the people,
- 1:05Speaker 1: try to compare it to the Obama deal. It's a
- 1:07Speaker 1: totally different situation. Obama didn't take out their military, didn't
- 1:10Speaker 1: destroy their nuclear reactor. And I mean, if we have
- 1:16Speaker 1: to go back in, we go back in. But don't
- 1:18Speaker 1: you think, I mean, you do think in the end
- 1:20Speaker 1: six months from that, we'll be very happy with what happened.
- 1:23Speaker 2: You know, Mark, I supported the idea in the beginning.
- 1:27Speaker 2: I think that Trump was absolutely right that Iran was
- 1:31Speaker 2: not going to negotiate on seriously on the three big issues,
- 1:36Speaker 2: the nuclear, the missile programs, and of course the support
- 1:42Speaker 2: for Amas Hezbia on the other terror proxies. That's what
- 1:46Speaker 2: the three reasons he gave for going to war, and
- 1:50Speaker 2: he and Israel made a plan to address each of
- 1:55Speaker 2: those things. And what it's really just pointing to see
- 2:01Speaker 2: the President and the Vice President criticizing Israel for not
- 2:06Speaker 2: being happy with this deal. But one of the things
- 2:10Speaker 2: it does, it leads the missile program intact, what's left
- 2:14Speaker 2: of it. It doesn't really require the end of funding
- 2:18Speaker 2: for Hamas and Hesbela. And it now that basically saying
- 2:25Speaker 2: that if Israel attacks Hesbela, that's a violation of the
- 2:30Speaker 2: cease fire, and then Iran free walkout on the negotiations,
- 2:36Speaker 2: and so America would be penalized by that. So I
- 2:39Speaker 2: think that there are some fundamental issues here that have
- 2:43Speaker 2: to be addressed, and attacking Israel I think is really
- 2:49Speaker 2: the most disappointing part of the President and Vice president's
- 2:53Speaker 2: reaction to the criticism of the deal.
- 2:57Speaker 1: Yeah, but you know, he's been criticized for being too
- 2:59Speaker 1: close to Israel to uh live being the puppet of
- 3:03Speaker 1: net and Yahoo. Maybe this is just for show, just
- 3:05Speaker 1: to make it look like they're not on the same
- 3:07Speaker 1: page at all times.
- 3:09Speaker 2: But that, to me, I think you could be right,
- 3:13Speaker 2: But that to me shows they effectively giving into the left,
- 3:17Speaker 2: which hates is real now and so the Republicans are
- 3:22Speaker 2: the party that is keeping that alliance alive. And so
- 3:27Speaker 2: I think it would be a big step backward if
- 3:30Speaker 2: the Republicans start criticizing Israel the same way the Democrats do,
- 3:36Speaker 2: that everything Israel does is genocide, you know, I mean
- 3:40Speaker 2: that's where the Democrats are.
- 3:43Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a good point. Speaking of these Democrats, this
- 3:46Speaker 1: hating the police, hating Israel, this anti Semitism, how could
- 3:50Speaker 1: they think even it might work in the short term,
- 3:52Speaker 1: How could they think in the long term that a
- 3:54Speaker 1: party can survive like that.
- 3:57Speaker 2: I think, Mark, it's not so much in the heel
- 4:01Speaker 2: to the entire country as it is it's an in
- 4:06Speaker 2: house talking point for the left. And you know one
- 4:09Speaker 2: thing that I think would be informative for most people,
- 4:13Speaker 2: Mark is to sign up for the emails put out
- 4:17Speaker 2: by the Democratic Socialists of America, and you would see
- 4:22Speaker 2: how crazy they are, how much they hate the institutions
- 4:28Speaker 2: of America that stand in their way of complete control
- 4:32Speaker 2: of the government and of society at large. So DSA
- 4:37Speaker 2: sign up, get their emails, and you will realize what's
- 4:41Speaker 2: at stake here with the Mamdani's of the world, with
- 4:45Speaker 2: the elan Omars, the AOC, the Bernie Sanders, these people
- 4:51Speaker 2: are serious threats to our way of life. And here
- 4:55Speaker 2: we are, our two hundred and fiftieth birthday and they
- 4:58Speaker 2: don't like any of it.
- 5:01Speaker 1: Yeah, Democrats don't get too thrilled about this two hundred
- 5:04Speaker 1: and fiftieth birthday, do they.
- 5:05Speaker 2: No, of course not. It's it's it's a reminder of
- 5:10Speaker 2: all the things AA.
- 5:12Speaker 1: Now, Michael Goodwin, let me ask you the question of
- 5:14Speaker 1: the hour. Barack Obama is this guy with great style.
- 5:18Speaker 1: You could see it in the way he dresses. I've
- 5:20Speaker 1: seen pictures of his homes beautifully decorated. This museum that
- 5:23Speaker 1: he built, when they showed him the drawings, How could
- 5:26Speaker 1: he have said, yeah, that looks good, do they What
- 5:30Speaker 1: was he thinking?
- 5:31Speaker 2: It looks like a cement water tower or something like that.
- 5:35Speaker 2: I mean, it's just ugly and it just got this presumptive,
- 5:41Speaker 2: you know, elite arrogance about it. You know, it's like
- 5:45Speaker 2: a like a big religious foundation, their tower and teaching
- 5:51Speaker 2: and and the way he speaks. I mean it's just look,
- 5:56Speaker 2: he's got a lot more in common with Mamdanie than
- 6:00Speaker 2: he does sort of middle Americans. I mean, he's never
- 6:03Speaker 2: overcome that elite obsession with talking down to ordinary people,
- 6:10Speaker 2: and that that is what's grown with the Democratic Party's
- 6:15Speaker 2: never come back from the sharp left turn that he made.
- 6:19Speaker 1: Yeah, that's interesting. Hey, speaking abou Donnie, you and I
- 6:23Speaker 1: both work on Sixth Avenue. He wants to have you
- 6:27Speaker 1: seen this plan. He wants to get put another bus lane,
- 6:30Speaker 1: two bus lanes, two bike lanes. Sixth Avenue be down
- 6:33Speaker 1: to one lane. They're talking about doing this for Park Avenue.
- 6:37Speaker 1: What does he say, you just gridlock the whole city.
- 6:40Speaker 1: What is this guy thinking, Yeah.
- 6:43Speaker 2: They've done that to Marshall Avenue in the Bronx. I
- 6:46Speaker 2: mean he used to be five lanes and hours two.
- 6:50Speaker 2: It's just that is their anti car initiative. Now, they
- 6:54Speaker 2: did not start that. The Bloomberg people did. And it's
- 6:59Speaker 2: all part of assault on life as we know it. Right,
- 7:03Speaker 2: whatever they inherited when they came into office, it's no good. Right,
- 7:09Speaker 2: we have to change everything from day one, from the
- 7:12Speaker 2: tax system to what we're teaching the schools, to the highways,
- 7:16Speaker 2: the roadways, the sidewalks, the garbage scans have to be changed.
- 7:21Speaker 2: I mean, this kind of it's never good. Whatever came
- 7:24Speaker 2: before them has to be destroyed. And of course that
- 7:29Speaker 2: this is the group that they go on taking down
- 7:31Speaker 2: statues of Christopher Columbus and people like that because it
- 7:36Speaker 2: doesn't fit with their warped view of America and even
- 7:41Speaker 2: American history.
- 7:43Speaker 1: Well, that's a very good explanation. I never looked at them,
- 7:46Speaker 1: but you're absolutely right. Michael Goodwin brilliant as always. Everybody
- 7:50Speaker 1: read his column its Sunday's columns in the New York Post.
- 7:53Speaker 1: It's on the New York Post website. All of his
- 7:55Speaker 1: columns are there, and every Sunday and every Wednesday in
- 7:59Speaker 1: the New York Post. Michael Goodwin, thanks for being with us.
- 8:02Speaker 2: Oh it's a pleasure. Thank you. Mark.
- 8:04Speaker 1: All right, take care. Yeah, we'll get into that in
- 8:07Speaker 1: the next hour. This is planned to reduce Sixth Avenue,
- 8:10Speaker 1: so it'll be basically about one lane, two lane. It's preposterous.
- 8:16Speaker 1: I mean, you know, today's supposed to be a good
- 8:17Speaker 1: lack alert day, but wait till he starts doing this
- 8:20Speaker 1: to sixth Avenue Park Avenue. It'll be that every day.
- 8:24Speaker 1: And so again, if you're thinking of coming in Manhattan today,
- 8:26Speaker 1: don't drive in. It's going to be an absolute mess.
- 8:29Speaker 1: Forty Second Street will be closed. This is all World
- 8:31Speaker 1: Cup stuff for you know people, Forty second would just
- 8:37Speaker 1: be nothing but buses closed to traffic. Hey, I know
- 8:40Speaker 1: it's ridiculous, but it's going to be a mess today. Hey, noon,
- 8:43Speaker 1: Today it's Buck Sexton Clay Travis about to celebrate their
- 8:46Speaker 1: fifth anniversary. It's become a very big show. It's about
- 8:50Speaker 1: ten million listeners, hundreds of radio stations, but you can
- 8:54Speaker 1: hear them today noon to three. Then at three o'clock
- 8:56Speaker 1: you got the most listened to radio show in America
- 9:00Speaker 1: on Hannity. He got Jesse Kelly at six. Then at
- 9:03Speaker 1: nine o'clock he got the Great Jimmy Taylor. What a
- 9:05Speaker 1: funny show every night at nine on seven ten WR
