- 0:00Welcome back to Storytime with Lucky Podcast.
- 0:05Today we're going to read Kipper's Snowy Day.
- 0:10It was a new morning and it was snowy. Huge cotton wool snowflakes were tumbling past Kipper's window.
- 0:18Yes! said Kipper jumping around his basket.
- 0:23Yes! Yes! He grabbed his scarf and wound it around three times around his head. Yes, yes, yes!
- 0:30Kibber was very positive about snow.
- 0:34Kibber rushed outside and the snow laid deep and smooth anew like an empty page
- 0:40waiting to be scribbled on.
- 0:42He made a paw print and then another and then another and then another.
- 0:48And then with a whoop he went charging round and round crisscrossing this way
- 0:54and that way and that until the garden was full of his tracks.
- 1:03Kipper stopped to catch his breath letting the smelling snowflake smell on his
- 1:08tongue then he fell backwards into the snow and laid through,
- 1:14their painting When he stood up, he found that he made perfect Kipper-shaped holes.
- 1:20He tried again, then he tried a different shape and another.
- 1:23I bet Tiger hasn't thought of this, he said, and ran off to his best friend.
- 1:31Kipper found Tiger at the top of the big hill. He was wrapped up in a fat bundle
- 1:37of silly woolly clothes.
- 1:40Kipper plopped a friendly snowball on top of his head.
- 1:46Hello, said Tiger, and Tiger pointed up at the sky, watering some wind seeping
- 1:53through the grey clouds. It won't last, he said.
- 1:57It'll be all gone by tomorrow. There's a warm wind coming.
- 2:01Tiger was like that. He knew things.
- 2:05This was not all that Kipper wanted to hear, so he started throwing snowballs at his friend.
- 2:13And Tag was very easy to hear because the silly woolly clothes were wrapped
- 2:19so tightly around him that he could hardly move.
- 2:26And his own snowballs stuck like little pom-poms to the silly woolly gloves.
- 2:32Look, look at my new game, said Kipper, falling backwards into the snow.
- 2:38You got off very carefully, and there you are. There he was.
- 2:44Or at least the shape of him. Tiger stretched out his arms and fell backwards
- 2:50with a soft, woolly crump.
- 2:53When he tried to get up, he could not. He was too round.
- 2:59He just lay there, waving his arms and legs like a beetle on his back.
- 3:06Tiger heaved himself onto his tummy but,
- 3:11but rolled too high and and found himself on his back again he tried again the
- 3:17same thing happened snow began to stick in thick lumps to the silly woolly clothes,
- 3:23he crossly he sheathed himself over once more this time he rolled over twice three times four times.
- 3:33Slowly at first then a little faster then a lot faster then he started and then
- 3:41very fast indeed he rolled down the hill,
- 3:46and he went and as he went the silly woolly clothes picked up more and more
- 3:51snow so that by the time he reached the bottom and then chased from a small,
- 3:56small dog to a giant snowball the giant snowball fell to pieces,
- 4:04Kipper charged down the hill are you alright Tiger,
- 4:08he punted Tiger pulled off his silly woolly hat a big grin spread across his face again he said,
- 4:20Again! Again! Again! So that's what they did all.
- 4:28Day. Long taking turns to wear the silly woolly clothes.
- 4:35And by the time the sun began to dip towards the hill, making their shadows
- 4:41long and skinny, they had rolled enough snow to the bottom to build a giant snow dog.
- 4:48They watched their shadows lengthen and fade It'll be all gone by tomorrow said
- 4:55Tiger There's a warm wind coming,
- 5:00But for what Tiger was wrong The warm wind stayed away That night another snowman
- 5:09smoothed out of all Kippers,
- 5:12The warm wind stayed away And that night, another snowstorm smoothed out all of,
- 5:21Kipper's paw prints, making the garden like a clean, white, empty page once more.
- 5:27And the snow dog stood at the bottom of the big hill, wearing Tiger's silly, woolly clothes,
- 5:35for almost three whole,
- 5:39weeks. The end, and thank you for listening.
