- 0:01Speaker 1: Now seven Wor presents, no Mark Simon Show. Well, we
- 0:08Speaker 1: we'll get to the super Bowl. We'll get to the
- 0:10Speaker 1: Guthrie kidnapping, bring all the latest, We'll get the Washington Post,
- 0:13Speaker 1: We'll get to voter ID, We'll get to the crazy Mayor.
- 0:16Speaker 1: We'll get to Galla. Maxwell testifying today, lots to talk about,
- 0:21Speaker 1: Like you, I probably I don't feel so great. Stomach full,
- 0:24Speaker 1: stomach ache from last eating too much. Super Bowl party,
- 0:27Speaker 1: you know, yesterday, of course, super Bowl Sunday. Today they
- 0:31Speaker 1: call it miswork Monday. A lot of people call in
- 0:35Speaker 1: sick today or plan ahead and take the day off
- 0:37Speaker 1: because of the super Bowl party. So twenty six million,
- 0:41Speaker 1: twenty six million people have taken the day off today.
- 0:47Speaker 1: Maybe I should have too, but no, no, it's better
- 0:50Speaker 1: to work. Super Bowl was possibly the most boring Super
- 0:56Speaker 1: Bowl game ever. It was just a total mis match.
- 1:01Speaker 1: The season, it was a very weird season. Scheduling was
- 1:06Speaker 1: bad because the Patriots, they called it a soft schedule.
- 1:11Speaker 1: They didn't get any really tough games. They got really
- 1:13Speaker 1: easy teams to play, got them to seventeen and three,
- 1:16Speaker 1: which they probably didn't deserve. Then some weird things happened
- 1:20Speaker 1: in the playoffs where the teams that should have gone
- 1:22Speaker 1: to the super Bowl, Denver, the Bills, the Ramp the
- 1:25Speaker 1: teams that should have gone because just the way the
- 1:28Speaker 1: playoffs worked out, they somehow accidentally got eliminated. So you
- 1:31Speaker 1: had the Patriots, who weren't really ready for a super
- 1:34Speaker 1: Bowl against Seattle. So the Patriots not enough offense against
- 1:38Speaker 1: the best defense in the world, and it was a
- 1:41Speaker 1: kind of a dull game. Patriots are going to be great.
- 1:43Speaker 1: They were in the Super Bowl a couple of years
- 1:46Speaker 1: too early. Otherwise it went pretty well. You know, the
- 1:51Speaker 1: commercials were great, they were really well done, but they
- 1:55Speaker 1: didn't have the impact they usually have. A lot of
- 1:58Speaker 1: people not that thrilled with the commercials. I think the
- 2:02Speaker 1: reason is those commercials on the Super Bowl really dazzled you.
- 2:06Speaker 1: But now in the world of AI and Instagram and TikTok,
- 2:12Speaker 1: you see so many unbelievable videos AI videos, so many
- 2:15Speaker 1: unbelievable videos every second, all day long, every day, that
- 2:20Speaker 1: by the time you get to the Super Bowl, it's
- 2:21Speaker 1: nothing I've seen better than that on TikTok all all week.
- 2:24Speaker 1: So that's going to be a problem. I'm I'm gonna
- 2:27Speaker 1: deal with that because those commercials are important. Bad Bunny,
- 2:31Speaker 1: it was pretty good. He was nothing offensive. Look great,
- 2:35Speaker 1: move great. And I don't know what Ally's singing. It's
- 2:37Speaker 1: certainly a snappy, bouncy Now you see a guy like
- 2:42Speaker 1: that can't really be offensive. Nobody knows what the hell
- 2:45Speaker 1: he's saying. What the hell is this guy talking about?
- 2:47Speaker 1: Nobody knows. Well, if you speak Spanish, I guess you
- 2:49Speaker 1: know what the Helly's saying, but most of us don't.
- 2:51Speaker 1: We don't know what the hell he said, but I
- 2:53Speaker 1: don't know. Look, hey, listen, musically, it's it's not Carnegie Hall,
- 2:59Speaker 1: it's the super Bowl. That's good enough for the super Bowl.
- 3:02Speaker 1: You know. The problem is, we'll talk about this later.
- 3:05Speaker 1: It used to be a mainstream artist who everybody knew
- 3:09Speaker 1: would perform at the super Bowl. It'd be Billy Joel,
- 3:11Speaker 1: it'd be the Rolling Stones, it'd be the most mainstream.
- 3:15Speaker 1: Everybody every age knew them, loved them. You can't do
- 3:19Speaker 1: that anymore. We'll talk about this a little later. You
- 3:21Speaker 1: can't come up with any artist that everybody would like
- 3:24Speaker 1: or everybody would know. It's also splintered nowadays. Nancy Guthrie,
- 3:31Speaker 1: the Kidnapping, The Deadline is today at five o'clock for
- 3:35Speaker 1: six million dollars to be delivered in bitcoin. I don't
- 3:39Speaker 1: know what's going to happen at five o'clock today. I'll
- 3:42Speaker 1: just give you all the latest on it over the weekend.
- 3:45Speaker 1: And one reason you're not hearing much. You noticed the
- 3:47Speaker 1: first couple days you heard a lot and that goofy
- 3:50Speaker 1: local sheriff was having a press conference every hour. Every
- 3:53Speaker 1: two hours, there were these press conferences, the statements that
- 3:56Speaker 1: were revealing stuff. All of a sudden, it went quiet
- 3:58Speaker 1: the last four or five days. That's because the FEDS
- 4:01Speaker 1: took over the FBI, and the FEDS took over and
- 4:04Speaker 1: the FBI. Feds are very quiet. They don't reveal things,
- 4:08Speaker 1: they keep it. They keep a lid on everything. So
- 4:11Speaker 1: that's what's been going on for the last few days.
- 4:13Speaker 1: What we can piece together is they believe, they have
- 4:18Speaker 1: reason to believe the kidnappers were in the house a
- 4:21Speaker 1: long time, over a half hour. That's unusual. Now, a
- 4:26Speaker 1: woman in that age who's not mobile, who can't walk
- 4:29Speaker 1: without a cane, it's very hard to move her, and
- 4:32Speaker 1: that might have taken them while. But they believe they
- 4:33Speaker 1: were in the house doing something and that's why they've
- 4:36Speaker 1: been back in the house all weekend. They've been seen
- 4:39Speaker 1: coming in removing suitcases and bags full of stuff, some
- 4:44Speaker 1: sort of evidence. They've even gone through the septic tank
- 4:48Speaker 1: of the house. They believe that while the kidnappers are there,
- 4:51Speaker 1: they might have disposed of evidence, flushed it down the toilet.
- 4:54Speaker 1: That's what they were looking for. They've been back in
- 4:56Speaker 1: the house looking for DNA. They don't believe that it's
- 5:00Speaker 1: possible for kidnappers to be in the house for over
- 5:03Speaker 1: a half hour and not leave something, if not fingerprints, DNA,
- 5:07Speaker 1: something some kind of clues. They've been up on the roof.
- 5:11Speaker 1: It's believed there might have been another camera up on
- 5:13Speaker 1: the roof. But the other reason they were on the
- 5:15Speaker 1: roof is if you've seen the video where it shows
- 5:18Speaker 1: the roof, it's bright white. It's really clean white the roof,
- 5:23Speaker 1: and neighbors have pointed out that when you live in
- 5:26Speaker 1: that area, your roof gets very dirty, it gets grimy,
- 5:28Speaker 1: it gets gray from the elements, and that because it
- 5:33Speaker 1: was so white, it was so new looking. They believe
- 5:35Speaker 1: that she recently had a roof redone and they're looking
- 5:40Speaker 1: at that right now. They believe for various reasons that
- 5:43Speaker 1: the kidnappers were familiar with this woman, familiar with the house,
- 5:48Speaker 1: and that could indicate friends, relatives, but more likely it
- 5:52Speaker 1: could indicate workers, people who were recently in the house
- 5:55Speaker 1: doing work. If there's any kind of servants there, a housekeeper,
- 6:00Speaker 1: an aid or something like that, obviously they've talked to them,
- 6:04Speaker 1: But if she recently had her roof redone, they'll be
- 6:07Speaker 1: talking to those workers. Anybody that's been in the house,
- 6:10Speaker 1: Y're familiar with the situation. So five o'clock today is
- 6:13Speaker 1: the deadline. They want six million dollars in bitcoin. You've
- 6:16Speaker 1: seen the video where Savannah Guthrie and the family say,
- 6:22Speaker 1: we just want our mother back, we want to celebrate
- 6:24Speaker 1: with her. We'll pay. And it's a very very very
- 6:29Speaker 1: carefully scripted statement that she made. The FBI has hostage negotiators,
- 6:34Speaker 1: experts at how to talk to kidnappers, and they've worded
- 6:38Speaker 1: that thing very carefully, with keywords, trigger words, things that
- 6:42Speaker 1: appeal in the right way to kidnappers. So that's why
- 6:45Speaker 1: I was so carefully read. Other than that, we'll just see,
- 6:50Speaker 1: we'll see. It turns out, we find out now when
- 6:54Speaker 1: her mother went missing and she wanted to go to
- 6:57Speaker 1: the police. Savannah Guthrie first called Senator Mark Kelly, the
- 7:01Speaker 1: Arizona Senator spoke to him first and asked him to
- 7:06Speaker 1: call the police. Asked he's the senator from Arizona. Asked
- 7:09Speaker 1: him to call the authorities and get them going. So
- 7:15Speaker 1: that's how it all started. FBI believes this is some
- 7:20Speaker 1: it's not. In other words, they've said it's not a
- 7:22Speaker 1: traditional kidnapping. Something's not traditional here. A they were in
- 7:26Speaker 1: the house way too long. Also, ransom notes go to
- 7:30Speaker 1: the family. In this case, they're sending the ransom notes
- 7:34Speaker 1: to the media. They're sending it to local TV stations.
- 7:38Speaker 1: That's very unusual. That's extremely unusual. They don't quite know
- 7:42Speaker 1: what that means. It might just mean they want it
- 7:45Speaker 1: to go very public for some reason. Otherwise, why wouldn't
- 7:48Speaker 1: you just send it to a family. Usually when a
- 7:50Speaker 1: kidnapping happens, nobody hears about it until it's over because
- 7:53Speaker 1: it's right to the family and they keep it quiet.
- 7:56Speaker 1: But the ransom notes are going to the media, extremely unusual,
- 8:02Speaker 1: so not traditional. Also, they were in the house a
- 8:05Speaker 1: very long time. The neighborhood where she lives, very very
- 8:09Speaker 1: close to the Mexican border. It's just a few miles away.
- 8:12Speaker 1: So they're also thinking that these kidnappers could have come
- 8:15Speaker 1: from Mexico or they could have gone to Mexico. In
- 8:18Speaker 1: one of the ransom demands, it said USD US dollars
- 8:24Speaker 1: instead of just six million dollars six million USD usd.
- 8:29Speaker 1: It's usually a phrase, a term used by foreigners. Americans
- 8:33Speaker 1: don't usually use it. That's another reason they suspect Mexico. So, hey,
- 8:40Speaker 1: Gallaine Maxwell testifies today. She's going to do it from
- 8:44Speaker 1: jail by zoom. It's in front of the Congressional Committee.
- 8:48Speaker 1: She's going to testify in the Epstein stuff. She has
- 8:53Speaker 1: already said she'll take the Fifth Amendment. Now her conviction,
- 8:56Speaker 1: she's gotten appeal coming up. She goes back into a
- 8:59Speaker 1: court to appeal her conviction, so that would justify the
- 9:03Speaker 1: Fifth Amendment. You don't want to do anything to screw
- 9:05Speaker 1: up her upcoming appeal, so you won't hear much of anything.
- 9:08Speaker 1: You'll get to look at her, but don't expect much
- 9:12Speaker 1: to come out of that. I've been reading through the
- 9:13Speaker 1: Epstein files all weekend. It's fascinating. You just google, just
- 9:20Speaker 1: google Epstein files. It'll take you to the Department of
- 9:22Speaker 1: Justice website where they have it's called they call it
- 9:25Speaker 1: the Epstein Library. It has a search bar, so in
- 9:30Speaker 1: there you type whatever name you want. It'll bring you
- 9:33Speaker 1: all the things that are in the Epstein files. Just
- 9:35Speaker 1: for the hell that I type my name. I came
- 9:37Speaker 1: up six times. Nothing bad, nothing bad, all harmless, innocent stuff.
- 9:42Speaker 1: I always kept my distance from Epstein, but he was
- 9:47Speaker 1: going to come to a luncheon where I was the MC.
- 9:50Speaker 1: So that's how one thing got in there. He was
- 9:53Speaker 1: friends with Jackie Martlin, Jackie the joke Man, emailing back
- 9:56Speaker 1: and forth of them, so I got mentioned in one
- 9:58Speaker 1: of those emails. Nothing is totally harmless, innocent stuff, that
- 10:02Speaker 1: kind of stuff. Who else is all through it? But
- 10:05Speaker 1: Woody Allen is all through it now. Woody Allen continued,
- 10:10Speaker 1: You know, after Hollywood got done with him, he continued
- 10:12Speaker 1: to make movies. But to make those movies and they
- 10:15Speaker 1: were low budget movies. All the Woody Allen films, good films,
- 10:17Speaker 1: but low budget. He had to go find wealthy people
- 10:21Speaker 1: to finance the movies outside of Hollywood, so Epstein was
- 10:24Speaker 1: one of them. He got Epstein to finance the movies
- 10:27Speaker 1: and Epstein would pay for his movies. Now. In exchange
- 10:30Speaker 1: for that, Woody Ellen has to keep showing up at
- 10:32Speaker 1: Epstein's house whenever Epstein tells him, please come to my
- 10:35Speaker 1: dinner party. Please come to this party. I'm having lunch
- 10:38Speaker 1: with these people. Please come. So whenever Epstein had a
- 10:41Speaker 1: bunch of CEOs or whoever he was trying to impress,
- 10:44Speaker 1: he'd have Woody Allen come and sit with them at dinner.
- 10:47Speaker 1: That was the price for the financing of his films.
- 10:50Speaker 1: Dick Cavitt shows up in the Epstein files. I guess
- 10:54Speaker 1: Woody Allen's very close to Dick cat. Woody Allen must
- 10:57Speaker 1: have dragged him into this. And Cabot not as much
- 11:01Speaker 1: as what he owned, but he wanted some financing. He
- 11:04Speaker 1: was looking to do a PBS special. You know when
- 11:07Speaker 1: you see those big PBS specials, somebody has to pay
- 11:11Speaker 1: for them. PBS very rarely pays for him. Somebody has
- 11:13Speaker 1: to finance him. So there was going to be an
- 11:17Speaker 1: American Master's profile Attic Cabot. But Cabot had to get
- 11:20Speaker 1: the financing, so Epstein volunteered to pay it. It was
- 11:24Speaker 1: four hundred and eighty thousand dollars now in exchange for that.
- 11:28Speaker 1: You'll see in the emails. He wants Cabot to show
- 11:30Speaker 1: up at this lunch with a bunch of his friends.
- 11:33Speaker 1: He wants Cabot to come to this party he's having.
- 11:35Speaker 1: He wants Cabot to come to this dinner he's having.
- 11:37Speaker 1: So that's the price you pay the most embarrassing one
- 11:41Speaker 1: of these college presidents. Epstein would make big donations to
- 11:45Speaker 1: the colleges, but some of the I don't want to
- 11:48Speaker 1: mention names because some of them I know. But these
- 11:50Speaker 1: college presidents, they would be at his house every week
- 11:54Speaker 1: and constantly calling him and coming to his house every
- 11:57Speaker 1: which way. You got some Steve Tish is in there.
- 12:01Speaker 1: It doesn't look so good, Steve Tish. They're always talking
- 12:03Speaker 1: about women. And there's one email exchange he's trying to
- 12:08Speaker 1: there's some young woman, not underage, but a younger woman,
- 12:11Speaker 1: let's say, in her twenties. Tish is trying to invite
- 12:15Speaker 1: her to Boston for the weekend. And she said, you know,
- 12:18Speaker 1: I'm in school, I go to college. I can't come.
- 12:20Speaker 1: So but I don't think it's not a problem for
- 12:24Speaker 1: Steve Tish. Remember Bob Kraft with the with that little
- 12:29Speaker 1: strip mall massage parlor whatever.
- 12:33Speaker 2: I mean.
- 12:33Speaker 1: If that didn't get him in trouble with the NFL,
- 12:36Speaker 1: the Steve Tish thing won't. Otherwise it's pretty harmless. Hey,
- 12:39Speaker 1: we have a new cardinal began this weekend. His first
- 12:44Speaker 1: service was this Sunday Friday. There was the big luncheon,
- 12:48Speaker 1: you know, to welcome the new cardinal. I noticed it
- 12:52Speaker 1: was not like the other cardinals. It was not like
- 12:55Speaker 1: Dolan O'Connor. I noticed the governor didn't come, the mayor
- 12:58Speaker 1: didn't come. A lot of people didn't come for the
- 13:01Speaker 1: new cardinal, and a lot of people not crazy about
- 13:03Speaker 1: this new cardinal. He's sort of a left wing, woke cardinal.
- 13:09Speaker 1: He doesn't sound great, you know, Dolan, besides being the
- 13:11Speaker 1: most magnificent, wonderful guy you could ever know, and a
- 13:15Speaker 1: great leader, very inspirational. This guy Dolan incredible speaker, makes
- 13:21Speaker 1: amazing speeches. This guy doesn't sound so great. He's not
- 13:25Speaker 1: the great speaker here here he is.
- 13:27Speaker 3: Some folks like to get away, take a holiday from
- 13:31Speaker 3: the neighborhood. I'm in a New York state of mind,
- 13:37Speaker 3: concrete jungles where dreams are made of There's nothing you
- 13:41Speaker 3: can't do now you're in.
- 13:43Speaker 1: New York, all right. Again, not the most impressive speaker
- 13:49Speaker 1: in the world. But he's the new Cardinal. Ronald Hicks
- 13:51Speaker 1: is his name. Maybe he'll get better, Maybe he'll get better.
- 13:56Speaker 1: But you know, we keep saying that about mom, Donnie,
- 13:58Speaker 1: but it's I don't know. We'll get some I'm Donnie,
- 14:00Speaker 1: and why the snow didn't get picked up so fast?
- 14:03Speaker 1: And got a whole lot more to get to. We'll
- 14:05Speaker 1: get to voter ID, we'll get to the Washington Post.
- 14:10Speaker 1: Big mess over there, everybody, you're getting laid off. The
- 14:13Speaker 1: CEO quit resigned. He didn't resign, he got fired. I'll
- 14:20Speaker 1: tell you why later, but he got fired. You know,
- 14:22Speaker 1: he pretended. They allowed him to pretend to quit, and
- 14:26Speaker 1: he put out one of those statements that I'd like
- 14:28Speaker 1: to spend more time with this. I want to spend
- 14:30Speaker 1: more time with my family. Have you seen his family?
- 14:33Speaker 1: Nobody wants to spend more time with them. They always
- 14:36Speaker 1: give you that same crazy excuse. But oh wait, we
- 14:40Speaker 1: got a lot to get to, so we'll get back.
- 14:41Speaker 1: When we'll get to the super Bowl, we'll go over
- 14:43Speaker 1: Bad Bunny and more. In a few minutes, we'll take
- 14:45Speaker 1: some calls next eight hundred three to two one zero
- 14:49Speaker 1: seven ten is the number eight hundred three two one
- 14:53Speaker 1: zero seven to ten. Get hiss in accents to Mark
- 14:57Speaker 1: by setting a freeset in the iHeartRadio app, his live
- 15:00Speaker 1: show and his podcast.
- 15:02Speaker 4: Now back to the month the Moone Show on w
- 15:05Speaker 4: o R.
- 15:09Speaker 1: Hey, let's take some calls. Let's go to Rich and
- 15:11Speaker 1: Myrtle Beach.
- 15:12Speaker 5: Rich, how you doing having surgery tomorrow?
- 15:15Speaker 4: Oh?
- 15:16Speaker 5: Really, we got action for a few days. I'm having
- 15:18Speaker 5: I tore the rotator cuff in my left hip, so there's.
- 15:22Speaker 1: A rotator cuff in there in your hip.
- 15:26Speaker 5: Yeah, you have rotator cuff and both hips and both shoulders. Yeah,
- 15:30Speaker 5: well pretty much what happens. I've pulled the gluten muscle
- 15:32Speaker 5: off the bone, so they got to reattach it.
- 15:34Speaker 1: That's a little too much information, but I think you'll
- 15:36Speaker 1: be fine. I think you're gonna do fine.
- 15:38Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 15:38Speaker 1: Thanks. All you got to do is you'll wake up.
- 15:42Speaker 1: You'll be fine.
- 15:42Speaker 5: That's it. Yeah, take some painkillers and for a couple
- 15:45Speaker 5: of days and it'll be a little better. You know.
- 15:46Speaker 5: So some of my liberal friends are up in arms
- 15:49Speaker 5: about the Voter Registration Act and you have to show
- 15:52Speaker 5: ID and I said, you got to show an ID
- 15:55Speaker 5: to get into the CNN building. You gotta show an
- 15:57Speaker 5: ID to buy booze, buy cigarettes by Latto, by this
- 16:00Speaker 5: buy that. I had to show my driver's license to
- 16:02Speaker 5: pick up some fish supplies I pre ordered at the
- 16:05Speaker 5: local pet store. I mean, and these people just up
- 16:07Speaker 5: and arms. It's all about as much cheating as they
- 16:09Speaker 5: could possibly get away with them.
- 16:10Speaker 1: Yeah, definitely. Well, anyway, good luck tomorrow. You'll be fine.
- 16:14Speaker 1: But good luck with the surgery tomorrow. Let's go to
- 16:17Speaker 1: Tom in Point Pleasant, Tom. How you doing.
- 16:20Speaker 6: Yeah, it's good morning, Mark, Mark. I let ask you
- 16:22Speaker 6: a quick question about the Guthrie kidnapping. Last week, they
- 16:27Speaker 6: said that this Tomaso Sheiani was a prime suspect, and
- 16:30Speaker 6: since then there has been no word about him, and
- 16:32Speaker 6: he's not in any of the videos supporting his wife
- 16:35Speaker 6: and family.
- 16:36Speaker 1: Are you talking about the brother in law? Yes, yeah,
- 16:39Speaker 1: I don't know. Some people got the idea. He didn't
- 16:41Speaker 1: like the way the brother in law looked in the video.
- 16:43Speaker 1: They didn't like he didn't come out he was I
- 16:45Speaker 1: don't know. They were suspicious of the brother in law
- 16:49Speaker 1: that he was somehow involved. I don't know. I mean
- 16:52Speaker 1: you got to figure the family knows him as well
- 16:54Speaker 1: as anybody, and they they are including him in the video.
- 16:57Speaker 1: So I don't know, it's just it's a rumor going
- 16:59Speaker 1: around about the brother in law. Let's go to Mike
- 17:01Speaker 1: and Florida. Mike, how you doing.
- 17:04Speaker 4: Morning, Mark, Yes, Mike, you'll be happy to know.
- 17:07Speaker 5: I'm on my way to go see Marty Supreme.
- 17:09Speaker 1: Oh, you'll love that film. It's a great movie. Because
- 17:12Speaker 1: you live in Florida, nothing else to do during the
- 17:14Speaker 1: day except go to the movies and go to lunch.
- 17:16Speaker 7: Yeah, and I'm taken advantage of one of my DGA perks,
- 17:19Speaker 7: so I get a screening.
- 17:20Speaker 1: Oh, Director's Guild of America. You get a discount. That's
- 17:24Speaker 1: the other thing in Florida. Everybody wants a discount on everything.
- 17:27Speaker 5: Well, that brings me to my point.
- 17:30Speaker 7: One of the things I'm gleaning gleaning from these Epstein
- 17:32Speaker 7: files is none of these rich people like.
- 17:34Speaker 5: To reach into their own pockets.
- 17:36Speaker 7: You mean to tell me that Big Cavic doesn't have
- 17:38Speaker 7: a half a million dollars in the bank that he
- 17:40Speaker 7: could finance his own, you know, his own project with well,
- 17:45Speaker 7: And there's a lot of stories like this.
- 17:47Speaker 5: There there.
- 17:47Speaker 1: No, Well, it's kind of a rule and show business.
- 17:50Speaker 1: You don't finance your own projects. It's no. I like,
- 17:54Speaker 1: if you're doing a Broadway show, if it's Andrew, Lloyd Webber, anybody,
- 17:57Speaker 1: they go out and they raise the money, and the
- 18:00Speaker 1: one or two times I've seen the guy put up
- 18:03Speaker 1: his own money, it's like a jinx and the whole
- 18:05Speaker 1: thing is a disaster and you lose your money.
- 18:08Speaker 5: So it just seems amazing, because.
- 18:10Speaker 7: There's a lot of these stories seem to be they went.
- 18:12Speaker 8: Visited him because they needed money.
- 18:14Speaker 7: So so went to the you know the house way Allen.
- 18:18Speaker 1: You know, No, it's just tradition, even if you're Scorsese,
- 18:20Speaker 1: even if you're whoever you are, Wolfe of Wall Street.
- 18:23Speaker 1: They couldn't get Hollywood money. So they went out and
- 18:25Speaker 1: they found private financing. But you never financial own movie.
- 18:29Speaker 1: It always it's like a curse against that. It always
- 18:32Speaker 1: leads to disaster. Maybe two or three times I've seen
- 18:35Speaker 1: somebody who thought this Broadway show, this movie, it's such
- 18:39Speaker 1: a sure thing, it can't miss. I'll put up my
- 18:42Speaker 1: own money, and then all of a sudden, the bombs
- 18:45Speaker 1: and you just don't ever do it. Let's go to
- 18:48Speaker 1: Vincent and Brooklyn. Vincent, how you doing.
- 18:51Speaker 2: Good morning, Mark, I'm okay, good luck rich tomorrow which
- 18:54Speaker 2: is surgery Mark. When you close your show Friday, you
- 18:57Speaker 2: talked about a great man in the Middle militariat under
- 19:01Speaker 2: the tutelage of Donald Trump catching capturing the SOB who
- 19:05Speaker 2: did the attack on Benghazi. I saw the hit live
- 19:09Speaker 2: that night on Italian TV, which was six hours ahead,
- 19:15Speaker 2: and they had a journalist that I would if you wanted,
- 19:20Speaker 2: I would when we were off Mike, I'll give you
- 19:23Speaker 2: the name of the journalist and everything who was embedded,
- 19:27Speaker 2: and they blindfolded him, brought him to the access roads
- 19:33Speaker 2: to the ambassador's compound. They showed on film the terrorists
- 19:40Speaker 2: put in and raise a wire across the roads. Bob
- 19:43Speaker 2: wire is the roads. And I saw the initial beginning
- 19:48Speaker 2: of the attack. I saw it then when he Chris
- 19:52Speaker 2: Stevens must have had a surrogate. He must had a
- 19:54Speaker 2: corrupt individual embedded with him, because when they got out
- 19:58Speaker 2: of the first the ambassador's residents, they went to a
- 20:02Speaker 2: safe house, and as soon as they got to the
- 20:05Speaker 2: safe house, the terrorists were already there. I saw Tyrone
- 20:11Speaker 2: Woods before he got whacked on the roof. They called
- 20:15Speaker 2: into sackcom for support. Obama never mentioned that because that
- 20:19Speaker 2: would have brought down his second election, and the Obama
- 20:23Speaker 2: administration told him that the jets the support were too
- 20:28Speaker 2: far away in Sicily and that was a bunch of crappic.
- 20:31Speaker 1: There's a little more to it, but that's what you
- 20:34Speaker 1: watched on TV last night.
- 20:36Speaker 2: No, because what happened was was I was trying to
- 20:39Speaker 2: get to the video to Sean Hannity and there must
- 20:45Speaker 2: have been a liberal news director on the Italian station.
- 20:49Speaker 2: When Obama came out with that BS story about the cartoon,
- 20:54Speaker 2: you couldn't find a video. They scrubbed it. Vincent, it
- 20:59Speaker 2: was all Mark. That guy was shut up from the
- 21:02Speaker 2: very beginning.
- 21:03Speaker 1: Good stuff, Vincent, thanks for calling. Yeah, I told it
- 21:07Speaker 1: was a long story about BEng Ghazi.
- 21:08Speaker 2: You know.
- 21:09Speaker 1: The problem is Obama. When they were working on what
- 21:11Speaker 1: to do, it was like twenty guys in the situation
- 21:14Speaker 1: room and Obama left the room. It was about six
- 21:16Speaker 1: seven o'clock at night. He decided that was the end
- 21:18Speaker 1: of the workday and he went up to the residence.
- 21:21Speaker 1: He didn't stay there until something happened, and he said
- 21:25Speaker 1: to all twenty guys, do whatever you need to do
- 21:28Speaker 1: for them and left. It doesn't work that way. You
- 21:31Speaker 1: got to put one guy in charge, because when it's
- 21:33Speaker 1: twenty people, nobody wants to make the decision to send
- 21:36Speaker 1: any troops in. So he should have put some, he
- 21:39Speaker 1: should have stayed. But also just put one person in
- 21:42Speaker 1: charge and tell him it's your decision. But anyway, so
- 21:46Speaker 1: they've captured the Mastermind. He's in custody, in federal custody
- 21:50Speaker 1: in Washington. Hey, when we come back, Roger Friedman, the
- 21:53Speaker 1: Great Entertainment Reporter. All right, we'll go over the super
- 21:55Speaker 1: Bowl last night, bad Bunny, the commercials, everything. We'll get
- 21:59Speaker 1: to all of that coming up next one, and we'll
- 22:01Speaker 1: get to Epstein with him and more coming up on
- 22:04Speaker 1: seven to ten WR. Mister New York. Here's more, Mark
- 22:08Speaker 1: Simone on seven ten WR. Well, Roger Friedman, the Great
- 22:14Speaker 1: Entertainment Reporter. His website showbiz for one one dot com.
- 22:18Speaker 1: You should check it every day. There's always new stuff
- 22:20Speaker 1: up there. Showbiz four one one dot com. Roger Friedman,
- 22:24Speaker 1: how you doing.
- 22:25Speaker 4: I'm great, Good morning, How are you Mark?
- 22:27Speaker 1: I'm good? Little stuffed over eating that super Bowl stuff
- 22:31Speaker 1: that's parties. I know, what do you think? The game
- 22:34Speaker 1: was pretty boring? But what'd you think of the rest
- 22:35Speaker 1: of it?
- 22:36Speaker 9: I thought the Bad Bunny was fabulous. I thought the
- 22:40Speaker 9: show was beautifully produced. I liked all the acts before that.
- 22:45Speaker 9: I thought Green Day was terrific and Brandy Carlisle and
- 22:49Speaker 9: I loved Coco Jones.
- 22:51Speaker 1: You know, it was great. It's the toughest thing to
- 22:54Speaker 1: do national anthem. You know it was great. Was Charlie Pooth,
- 22:56Speaker 1: He was really good.
- 22:57Speaker 9: Charliepooth was excellent. He was excellent. But and I love
- 23:00Speaker 9: to the he set up all that gospel choir.
- 23:03Speaker 1: But what the hell was he wearing that beat up
- 23:06Speaker 1: leather jacket. He looked like a munks in the cab
- 23:08Speaker 1: driver on all in the family. What was he wearing?
- 23:11Speaker 1: That's the Super Bowl? Put a nice jacket on.
- 23:19Speaker 9: Yeah, I don't know. Somebody should have addressed him, but
- 23:22Speaker 9: he did. But musically it was very good, and he
- 23:24Speaker 9: said it was a tribute to Whitney Houston, who did
- 23:26Speaker 9: the best one of all.
- 23:27Speaker 4: So h so that was very nice.
- 23:30Speaker 9: And then Bad Bunny with Lady Gaga was fabulous, and
- 23:35Speaker 9: Ricky Martin was a really nice nod. This Bad Bunny
- 23:38Speaker 9: is such a respecting, respectful guy. And he knows that
- 23:43Speaker 9: Ricky Martin is the biggest star in Puerto Rico. So
- 23:45Speaker 9: he had him on and h and his whole it
- 23:49Speaker 9: was g It was like g rated.
- 23:51Speaker 4: It was so h wholesome.
- 23:54Speaker 1: It was in Spanish. Who knows what he was saying.
- 23:56Speaker 1: But you know what the problem, Well, we.
- 23:58Speaker 4: Can tell it. I know everyone complaining that they were
- 24:00Speaker 4: in subtitles.
- 24:01Speaker 1: Now here's the problem with bad Bunny. In today's world.
- 24:04Speaker 1: This guy's the biggest star in the world, but half
- 24:06Speaker 1: the audience doesn't know who the hell he is.
- 24:09Speaker 9: And you could have I don't know, Mark, he sold
- 24:12Speaker 9: like ten million albums last year.
- 24:13Speaker 1: Yeah, I know. But if you go to people over
- 24:15Speaker 1: forty five, they don't know who he is. Fifty they
- 24:17Speaker 1: don't know who he is. You know, in the good old.
- 24:19Speaker 4: Days forty six, well you know who he is.
- 24:22Speaker 1: No, But in the good old days you have the
- 24:23Speaker 1: Rolling Stones. Everybody loved them, Billy Joel, everybody. There's no
- 24:26Speaker 1: such thing as a mainstream artist anymore. That every demo
- 24:29Speaker 1: everybody knows.
- 24:32Speaker 9: No, that's hard to do. That, that's definitely hard to do.
- 24:36Speaker 9: And you can't get those Listen, these people Bad Bunnies
- 24:40Speaker 9: in his I don't know thirties. You can't get these
- 24:44Speaker 9: eighty year old people to come out and perform at
- 24:46Speaker 9: the halftime. Yeah, but there's no use to start developing
- 24:49Speaker 9: younger acts.
- 24:50Speaker 1: You know, like take where I'm sitting right now here
- 24:53Speaker 1: at iHeart, we got Z one hundred over there, we
- 24:55Speaker 1: got QWO one O four down there the place, Classic
- 24:59Speaker 1: rock we got one O five. There's no artist that
- 25:02Speaker 1: could be played on every station. Each one has their
- 25:04Speaker 1: own music. They're all separate musicow So.
- 25:06Speaker 9: We were growing up when we were growing up in
- 25:09Speaker 9: the radio, we would listen to WABC and they'd play
- 25:13Speaker 9: a country song, an R and B song, a rock song,
- 25:16Speaker 9: a pop song. It was all like but you know,
- 25:19Speaker 9: as you're right, it's splintered into all these different genres.
- 25:24Speaker 9: And it's sort of sad in a way because we
- 25:27Speaker 9: learned a lot about other music when we used to
- 25:29Speaker 9: listen to the radio, and now they can't do that.
- 25:32Speaker 1: But if you go back to like the nineteen sixties
- 25:34Speaker 1: Super Bowls halftime was like Andy Williams, can you imagine?
- 25:38Speaker 1: You can't even picture that.
- 25:41Speaker 9: But now they had al hurt in nineteen sixty seven,
- 25:45Speaker 9: they had al Hurt play the horn.
- 25:47Speaker 1: He was a trumpet player from New Orleans. He had
- 25:49Speaker 1: a couple of hit singles.
- 25:50Speaker 4: So yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 25:54Speaker 1: Here's the other problem. The commercials, which were phenomenal, had
- 25:58Speaker 1: very little impact. I think is in today's world, there's
- 26:01Speaker 1: a million videos, AI videos on TikTok, Instagram, you get it,
- 26:06Speaker 1: thousands of the day. So after all of that, the
- 26:08Speaker 1: commercials don't impression anymore.
- 26:11Speaker 9: The commercials have been diluted, There's no question about it.
- 26:15Speaker 9: And I really could not stand the one with Ben
- 26:17Speaker 9: Affleck sending up Goodwill Hunting, and it's really interesting because
- 26:22Speaker 9: he had all these like weird TV stars in it,
- 26:25Speaker 9: but he didn't have Mac Damon, who was in Goodwill
- 26:28Speaker 9: Hunting with him and they won the Oscar together.
- 26:31Speaker 4: For writing the screenplay. I think Mac Damon.
- 26:33Speaker 9: Said I'll sit this one out because that was a
- 26:37Speaker 9: big mistake and it made Goodwill Hunting is a great movie,
- 26:41Speaker 9: and they made it seem silly, you know, And it's
- 26:44Speaker 9: enough with Ben Affleck and Duck and donuts.
- 26:48Speaker 4: Really enough.
- 26:50Speaker 1: Hey, Roger Friedman, have you been reading through the Epstein files.
- 26:55Speaker 4: I have been reading a lot of the Epstein.
- 26:57Speaker 1: Files there through there.
- 27:01Speaker 9: Well, there's nothing about Woody Allen, nothing bad. The thing
- 27:04Speaker 9: is that nothing bad.
- 27:06Speaker 4: But you know that.
- 27:09Speaker 9: Jack Lynn, who's the French cultural minister, he's in it too.
- 27:14Speaker 9: What Jeffrey Epstein did, which was a terrible thing, as
- 27:18Speaker 9: it turns out, is that he was giving all these
- 27:20Speaker 9: people money and attention and they were taking it and
- 27:24Speaker 9: they didn't know what was going on. They didn't go
- 27:26Speaker 9: to the island, they didn't do any of that stuff.
- 27:28Speaker 9: They didn't know about the girls. But but Jeffrey Epstein
- 27:34Speaker 9: was offering them a chance. As we would say, some
- 27:37Speaker 9: of your listener listeners will know this word snoring. A
- 27:42Speaker 9: lot of these people were schnoring off of Jeffrey Epstein.
- 27:46Speaker 9: He was offering them plane rides and dinners and making
- 27:50Speaker 9: phone call influential phone calls for them, and everybody was
- 27:54Speaker 9: saying yes because they thought, why not, He's not asking
- 27:56Speaker 9: for anything in return. Well, so all he really wanted
- 27:59Speaker 9: was he was sort of he was. What he was
- 28:02Speaker 9: doing was paying everyone to be his influential friends.
- 28:04Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean the only he had do want. If
- 28:07Speaker 1: you're Woody Allen, you had he who would have a
- 28:09Speaker 1: dinner party with a bunch of CEOs. You had to
- 28:11Speaker 1: come to his dinner and sit there and impress everybody
- 28:14Speaker 1: that you were there. Uh, he had to come to
- 28:15Speaker 1: a few lunches that kind of stuff.
- 28:17Speaker 9: Yo, I know what he pretty well, and I know, listen,
- 28:20Speaker 9: what do you and siny? They have no other fault
- 28:24Speaker 9: except that, like everybody in Hollywood, they.
- 28:26Speaker 4: Want a free dinner. Yeah, well, actually in Hollywood wants
- 28:29Speaker 4: a free dinner.
- 28:30Speaker 1: Apparently he's looking for financing for his movies. But you
- 28:32Speaker 1: know in every Broadway show, the way they raised money, Yeah,
- 28:36Speaker 1: they raised money by getting these New Jersey housewives with
- 28:38Speaker 1: money to put in five hundred thousand seven. Oh my god.
- 28:41Speaker 1: And they have to pretend that they're the producers and
- 28:44Speaker 1: listen to these people.
- 28:47Speaker 9: That's I recently went through something like that, or I
- 28:50Speaker 9: listened to people doing that.
- 28:51Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 28:51Speaker 4: So, but you know, but it's all these people.
- 28:55Speaker 9: Uh, there are a lot of people in there who
- 28:57Speaker 9: I think are actually kind of victims. Not the women.
- 29:01Speaker 9: I mean the women thing is serious with the women
- 29:04Speaker 9: who were trafficked, but these other people were sort of
- 29:06Speaker 9: victimized too because they didn't understand what Jeffrey Epstein was
- 29:10Speaker 9: doing to them.
- 29:11Speaker 4: He was really evil.
- 29:12Speaker 1: Yeah. Hey, I made the Epstein files, did your congratulations
- 29:18Speaker 1: nothing bad, nothing bad, just harmless nothing bad.
- 29:21Speaker 6: No?
- 29:22Speaker 1: Now was the other Was he just a fan?
- 29:24Speaker 4: Did he listen to the Shadow?
- 29:26Speaker 2: No?
- 29:26Speaker 1: But apparently there was an email between him and Jackie
- 29:29Speaker 1: Martley talking about listening to this show. And then there
- 29:31Speaker 1: was another one where I was going to come to
- 29:32Speaker 1: a lunch where I was the MC. But that's all, huh.
- 29:37Speaker 9: All he wanted to do is go to parties. Jeffrey Epstein. Yeah,
- 29:40Speaker 9: he wanted to go to parties day and night, and
- 29:42Speaker 9: he didn't care. He was using everyone in town. Howard Rubinstein,
- 29:46Speaker 9: who was like a famous publicist, you know, public relations guy,
- 29:49Speaker 9: was his publicist.
- 29:51Speaker 4: So he was keeping his name of The New York
- 29:53Speaker 4: Post but getting him into things that he wanted to
- 29:55Speaker 4: go to.
- 29:57Speaker 1: Hey, we only got a minute left our talk show dying.
- 30:00Speaker 1: They've just canceled a whole bunch of the top daytime
- 30:02Speaker 1: talk shows. Sherry Shepard, Kelly Clarkson, is that talk show?
- 30:06Speaker 1: Is it?
- 30:07Speaker 4: We're coming to the end of this. We've had it.
- 30:10Speaker 4: We've been seeing them for forty years or fifty years.
- 30:13Speaker 9: And what's happened is with streaming and all the different things,
- 30:17Speaker 9: and you know, they're expensive to produce, and.
- 30:21Speaker 4: Now we're down to really.
- 30:22Speaker 9: Just Jennifer Hudson has her show, Tameron Hall has a show,
- 30:27Speaker 9: and Drew Barrymore.
- 30:28Speaker 4: We used to have, you.
- 30:29Speaker 9: Know, Phil Donahue and Oprah and Sally Jesse, Raphael. We
- 30:33Speaker 9: had tons and tons of these shows, but they're expensive
- 30:36Speaker 9: to produce, and the stations are finding that it's cheaper
- 30:40Speaker 9: just to put on the news all day, just like
- 30:42Speaker 9: see it en. They just put on the news and
- 30:45Speaker 9: they have, you know, a correspondence running around in Queens
- 30:49Speaker 9: telling you what's going on, and it doesn't cost anything.
- 30:52Speaker 9: It's not the same cost as flying in movie stars
- 30:55Speaker 9: and that kind of thing.
- 30:56Speaker 4: So we are seeing sort of the decline of it.
- 30:59Speaker 1: Definitely long way from Merv Griffin and Mike Douglas, but.
- 31:02Speaker 4: Uh oh my, those were the days.
- 31:05Speaker 1: There you go, Well, great stuff, Roger Friedman, thanks for
- 31:08Speaker 1: being with us. Make sure you check out his website
- 31:10Speaker 1: Showbiz four one one dot com and check it every day.
- 31:13Speaker 1: There's always new stuff Showbiz four one one dot com.
- 31:17Speaker 1: Roger Friedman, thanks for being with us. Thank you, take care. Hey,
- 31:22Speaker 1: I don't forget Buck and Clay at noon today. I
- 31:24Speaker 1: love that show every day from noon to three. Then
- 31:26Speaker 1: you got Sean Hannity, the most listened to radio show
- 31:29Speaker 1: in America at three, got Jesse Kelly at six, and
- 31:32Speaker 1: now every night at nine o'clock you can listen to
- 31:34Speaker 1: Jimmy Fayala, great show, very funny every night at nine
- 31:38Speaker 1: on seven to ten wor.
- 31:41Speaker 10: Marmo Show on seven ten WR.
- 31:47Speaker 1: Well, a problem with these Super Bowl parties is a
- 31:50Speaker 1: week later you're hungry again. I Am not going to
- 31:52Speaker 1: eat all day to day, just stuff from nothing but
- 31:56Speaker 1: chunk uh. Anyway, we got a lot to get to
- 31:58Speaker 1: in the next hour. We'll get We'll get to mom
- 32:01Speaker 1: Donnie and how he's been doing. We'll get We'll get
- 32:04Speaker 1: to the Washington Post. Interesting story, we'll get to We'll
- 32:09Speaker 1: get Hey, I forgot to give you the numbers on
- 32:12Speaker 1: last night's Super Bowl and how many turned out tuned
- 32:15Speaker 1: out during the halftime show. We'll get to that and
- 32:17Speaker 1: a whole lot more coming. And Scott Shannon will be
- 32:20Speaker 1: with us in the in the next hour. Mark Simone
- 32:23Speaker 1: here every day ten to noon, or listen anytime you want.
- 32:26Speaker 1: Just get the podcast back right after the news here
- 32:29Speaker 1: on seven ten w.
- 32:32Speaker 4: Mister New York.
- 32:34Speaker 1: Mark Simone wr Well, we all a lot to get
- 32:40Speaker 1: to this hour. It was a pretty bad weekend weatherwise.
- 32:43Speaker 1: I mean, it was probably the worst weekend of the winter,
- 32:45Speaker 1: even worse than those big snowfall weekends that I mean
- 32:49Speaker 1: that it was so cold. You just Saturday, just people
- 32:54Speaker 1: just hibernated all day Friday night, Saturday Saturday. Although I
- 32:58Speaker 1: talked to people that went out, there were people out.
- 33:00Speaker 1: There were people in restaurants and comedy clubs, in Broadway theaters.
- 33:03Speaker 1: And it wasn't easy though. You know, it was actually
- 33:06Speaker 1: colder on Saturday in New York. It was colder than
- 33:10Speaker 1: in Antarctica. It's absolutely true. It was colder here than
- 33:17Speaker 1: it was there for the probably the first time ever.
- 33:19Speaker 1: It was like fifteen below here and something like five
- 33:23Speaker 1: degrees Antarctica. So super Bowl last night, a lot of
- 33:27Speaker 1: people not coming to work today. They call it miswork Monday,
- 33:31Speaker 1: twenty six million people either take the day off or
- 33:35Speaker 1: call in sick because of the super Bowl. There's been
- 33:38Speaker 1: talk of making it an actual holiday, a three day weekend,
- 33:41Speaker 1: making it the Monday a holiday. Here's the problem, though,
- 33:46Speaker 1: if you did it, your super Bowl is you know,
- 33:49Speaker 1: right now in February. If you made this a holiday.
- 33:52Speaker 1: This upcoming weekend, you got another holiday. You got President's Day.
- 33:57Speaker 1: Don't forget this weekend. You got a three day weekend,
- 33:59Speaker 1: so you don't want to do two of those in
- 34:00Speaker 1: a row. The simple answer would be, moved the super
- 34:04Speaker 1: Bowl to Saturday. It's just traditional on Sunday, but move
- 34:11Speaker 1: it to Saturday night. That's really the solution of that.
- 34:15Speaker 1: Restaurants would hate it. A lot of restaurants lose a
- 34:17Speaker 1: lot of money because people stay home super Bowl parties,
- 34:19Speaker 1: that sort of stuff, or if they go out, it's
- 34:22Speaker 1: usually a sports place, not a regular restaurant. But that's
- 34:26Speaker 1: I mean, well that's better on Sunday. It's got to
- 34:30Speaker 1: be Super Bowl Sunday. Football's on Sunday. Super Bowl should
- 34:34Speaker 1: be on Sunday. So Bad Bunny was the halftime performer. Now,
- 34:40Speaker 1: at the so many people did not want Bad Bunny,
- 34:43Speaker 1: or they thought he might get political, or they were
- 34:45Speaker 1: for one reason or another offended by his choice of
- 34:48Speaker 1: Bad Bunny. That the alternative was Kid Rock. You can
- 34:52Speaker 1: watch him online. He did the alternative half point show,
- 34:56Speaker 1: Turning Point USA ran it with Kid Rock. Many people
- 35:00Speaker 1: turned off the super Bowl with Bad Bunny to go
- 35:03Speaker 1: over and watch Kid Rock. Well, it turns out it
- 35:05Speaker 1: was about six million. Numbers still coming in might hit
- 35:08Speaker 1: seven million, but six million. You got to figure how
- 35:12Speaker 1: many people watch the Super Bowl, Big super Bowl sixty million.
- 35:14Speaker 1: Maybe ten percent of the audience turned it off and
- 35:17Speaker 1: went over to watch Kid Rock. It was otherwise a
- 35:20Speaker 1: dull game, a mismatch Seattle. I can't stand Seattle, but
- 35:25Speaker 1: the best defense in football. I like the Patriots, but
- 35:29Speaker 1: this team is too new. They weren't ready for the
- 35:30Speaker 1: Super Bowl. It was a slow, sluggish game, not a
- 35:34Speaker 1: lot of scoring. Thank god it finally ended. That will
- 35:38Speaker 1: do it.
- 35:39Speaker 4: Seattle rains above the ball in the NFL. The Seahawks
- 35:46Speaker 4: super Bowl chickens for the second time.
- 35:49Speaker 1: Here you go. Now here's the other thing, Seattle Seahawks.
- 35:53Speaker 1: They may not exist next year. The Seahawks may have
- 35:56Speaker 1: to move. You know, Seattle, Washington. It's a crazy left
- 35:59Speaker 1: wing state with a woke government. And they want to
- 36:03Speaker 1: impose a tax on the football player, so big tax.
- 36:07Speaker 1: They want to tax them like crazy, not just the
- 36:11Speaker 1: team and the Seattle players, but any visiting team. So
- 36:17Speaker 1: if a team comes to play in Seattle, which of course
- 36:19Speaker 1: will happen all the time, the players will get taxed.
- 36:23Speaker 1: They're going to hit them with this big, like ten
- 36:25Speaker 1: percent tax. Now, remember these guys are getting tens of
- 36:28Speaker 1: millions of dollars, so it's going to be a pretty
- 36:30Speaker 1: big tax. If they go through with this stupid tax,
- 36:33Speaker 1: I would imagine the Seahawks will have to move to
- 36:36Speaker 1: another city. It's ridiculous. Normally, in the past, if you
- 36:41Speaker 1: want to get a football team, you give them a
- 36:43Speaker 1: tax break because they bring in a ton of business revenue,
- 36:47Speaker 1: all sorts of glory and help your city. This crazy
- 36:52Speaker 1: left wing today's Democrats, and the old Democrats knew better.
- 36:56Speaker 1: But today's crazy Democrats think a billionaires, let's just tax
- 36:59Speaker 1: them businesses, let's tax them, and they just move, they leave,
- 37:04Speaker 1: they flee. Your economy suffers, everything suffers, you lose jobs,
- 37:07Speaker 1: you'll lose everything. Then you get states like Florida and Texas.
- 37:11Speaker 1: If you're in Texas, they'll give you nothing but tax
- 37:14Speaker 1: breaks if you're a business. So every major business in
- 37:17Speaker 1: the world moves to Texas and the economy is absolutely booming.
- 37:21Speaker 1: Same thing with Florida. And this is tradition, this is
- 37:25Speaker 1: the way they used to do everything. You know, these
- 37:28Speaker 1: rundown Democrat cities. They're in shambles. If you just called
- 37:32Speaker 1: up every business in the world say if you open
- 37:34Speaker 1: up here, we'll we'll give you, we'll make your tax
- 37:36Speaker 1: free for ten years, every business in the world would
- 37:38Speaker 1: rush to open there. Now, of course, you got mom
- 37:40Speaker 1: Donnie here, who may may do this to New York.
- 37:43Speaker 1: He's talking about imposing new taxes on businesses. Hey. By
- 37:47Speaker 1: the way, remember when Donald Trump tried to putting tariffs
- 37:50Speaker 1: on and the left wing went crazy, How tariffs is
- 37:54Speaker 1: going to ruin everything? Well, these are tariffs. Nobody puts
- 37:57Speaker 1: on more tariffs than the Democrats. They call it corporate tax,
- 38:01Speaker 1: but it's tariffs. And if you got heavy, we have
- 38:05Speaker 1: the highest corporate tax in the world right now. If
- 38:07Speaker 1: you say I'm gonna increase it ten percent, well that's
- 38:09Speaker 1: a tariff. That's a ten percent tariff. Here's mom Donnie.
- 38:13Speaker 10: So the way that this tax works is it applies
- 38:15Speaker 10: to any business doing business here. They could be located
- 38:17Speaker 10: in Miami, but if they're doing business in New York,
- 38:20Speaker 10: it applies to them. And the reason I believe everyone
- 38:22Speaker 10: will keep doing business here is our economy is so
- 38:24Speaker 10: large that if it was a country, it would rival
- 38:26Speaker 10: the top countries in the world.
- 38:28Speaker 1: It don't count on it. You see that. Look at
- 38:30Speaker 1: the logic of this big, big tax. If you come
- 38:32Speaker 1: to New York and open a business, Now, if you're
- 38:35Speaker 1: somewhere else and you sell anything here, you're gonna get
- 38:37Speaker 1: this big, big tax. I mean, it's absolutely insane, Mom, Donnie.
- 38:42Speaker 1: It turns out when it comes to the snow removal,
- 38:44Speaker 1: it's getting better. That might be the weather more than anything,
- 38:48Speaker 1: but it's a and he has picked up the garbage.
- 38:51Speaker 1: It was a little late, but most of the garbage
- 38:52Speaker 1: has gotten picked up. But you still got those snow banks.
- 38:55Speaker 1: But what happened for two weeks that all that snow
- 38:58Speaker 1: was piled up and it was ridiculeds Well, it turns
- 39:02Speaker 1: out Mamdani failed to recruit enough emergency snow shovelers. This
- 39:07Speaker 1: is what you do in a storm like this. You
- 39:09Speaker 1: got a certain amount of shovelers, but when you're going
- 39:11Speaker 1: to get a blizzard like that, you need more. So
- 39:15Speaker 1: as a Tuesday, all he had were nineteen or eighteen hundred,
- 39:18Speaker 1: eighteen hundred shovelers in comparison in previous administration when they
- 39:23Speaker 1: had this. What they do is they go out and
- 39:25Speaker 1: they hire shovelers, They put out ads, they blitze the
- 39:29Speaker 1: community with ads. In the past, for instance, twenty fifteen,
- 39:32Speaker 1: we had sixty five hundred shovelers. Yeah, in fact, the
- 39:40Speaker 1: remember the blizzard back then, they had a big blizzard
- 39:42Speaker 1: thirty three inches. They had thirty five hundred shovelers at
- 39:46Speaker 1: one time, working sixty five hundred total. So we only
- 39:49Speaker 1: got eighteen hundred right now. Again, you got to go
- 39:52Speaker 1: out and you got a massive advertising to hire these shovelers,
- 39:56Speaker 1: these laborers. According to the report or it's mom, Donnie,
- 40:01Speaker 1: made a half hearted outreach effort too late, didn't do
- 40:05Speaker 1: enough and didn't get enough shovelers, and that was the
- 40:08Speaker 1: main problem with all of that. So hey, the Washington Post,
- 40:13Speaker 1: this is a fascinating story. They're laying off hundreds and
- 40:17Speaker 1: hundreds and hundreds of people. They laid off about a
- 40:20Speaker 1: couple hundred before, now three hundred this past week. The
- 40:23Speaker 1: paper is losing a fortune. It's own by Jeff Bezos.
- 40:26Speaker 1: Of course, everybody is up in arms yelling and screaming
- 40:30Speaker 1: about these layoffs. But it was the staff of the
- 40:36Speaker 1: Washington Post, the people running it, that caused the layoffs.
- 40:39Speaker 1: They went crazy left wing, woke Trump bashing like crazy
- 40:45Speaker 1: Trump derangements in Rome was way out. It was so
- 40:47Speaker 1: far to the left. There is an audience for that.
- 40:50Speaker 1: But you're going to lose half the normal people. Half
- 40:52Speaker 1: of America will stop reading. So they basically got rid
- 40:55Speaker 1: of half their readers. And then when you get rid
- 40:59Speaker 1: of your readers, you get rid of half your revenue,
- 41:01Speaker 1: half your income from the subscriptions and all that, and
- 41:05Speaker 1: you got to start laying off people. So they caused
- 41:07Speaker 1: the layoffs. They're yelling and screaming about it. Now, this
- 41:11Speaker 1: paper is such a mess that it loses one hundred
- 41:15Speaker 1: million a year. Do you know that it loses two
- 41:18Speaker 1: million dollars a week? At the end of every week,
- 41:20Speaker 1: they're two million dollars in debt. Jeff Bezos owns it.
- 41:25Speaker 1: So at the end of every week, Jeff Bezos has
- 41:28Speaker 1: to write a check for two million dollars just to
- 41:30Speaker 1: keep this thing going. Now, I know he's a zillionaire,
- 41:33Speaker 1: he's worth hundreds of billions, but every week, at the
- 41:37Speaker 1: end of the week, he's got to write a check
- 41:39Speaker 1: for two million dollars just to keep it going. How
- 41:41Speaker 1: many years do you think he's going to keep that up.
- 41:44Speaker 1: He's a business guy. He's a logical business guy. At
- 41:47Speaker 1: some point he's going to wonder why he used to
- 41:48Speaker 1: keep writing a check for two million every week to
- 41:51Speaker 1: get it to keep it going. So that's why all
- 41:55Speaker 1: the layoffs. Now you heard that the big CEO of
- 41:59Speaker 1: the paper stepped down over the weekend. Apparently he was
- 42:02Speaker 1: told to get out. He was in the middle of
- 42:05Speaker 1: these layoffs. Last week, they laid off three hundred people.
- 42:08Speaker 1: In the middle of that, the CEO was out at
- 42:11Speaker 1: the Super Bowl walking around the red carpet, going to
- 42:13Speaker 1: all the parties. Bezos said, that's the final straw. He
- 42:18Speaker 1: just can't take this guy. He said, that's the last
- 42:20Speaker 1: straw with this guy. And he was basically told to
- 42:22Speaker 1: get the hell out. He lost patience with him. Middle
- 42:25Speaker 1: of all these layoffs. He's out there at the super Bowl.
- 42:28Speaker 1: Absolutely ridiculous. The CEO claims he decided to quit, and
- 42:33Speaker 1: you put out one of those I want to spend
- 42:35Speaker 1: more time with my family. And if you've seen his family,
- 42:39Speaker 1: nobody wants to man more time with him. So that's it.
- 42:42Speaker 2: Now.
- 42:42Speaker 1: I don't know what what Bezos will do with this
- 42:46Speaker 1: Washington Post. It's pretty much hopeless. He could try to
- 42:49Speaker 1: sell it, but nobody wants These people don't read newspapers anymore.
- 42:56Speaker 1: Twenty two million people read newspapers in America now two
- 43:02Speaker 1: one hundred and fifty nine million listening to the radio,
- 43:05Speaker 1: sixty three million listen to AM radio. Newspapers twenty two million.
- 43:09Speaker 1: So it's not much. I don't know how you could
- 43:11Speaker 1: really sell it. The only possible buyers there is some
- 43:17Speaker 1: hint that Bloomberg might want to buy it. In fact,
- 43:20Speaker 1: a couple of years ago, Bloomberg was there kicking the
- 43:23Speaker 1: tires on it, so Bloomberg a possible buyer. It's not
- 43:27Speaker 1: a good business, there's no logical reason to buy it,
- 43:29Speaker 1: but you know, Bloomberg is always trying to create some
- 43:32Speaker 1: sort of media presence, more of a Washington present, so
- 43:35Speaker 1: that's a possibility. The other thing is the Wall Street
- 43:38Speaker 1: Journal might buy it. The Wall Street Journal just looking
- 43:42Speaker 1: to expand their or Washington DC coverage, they might buy it.
- 43:46Speaker 1: Murdoch is about the only guy who's still really interested
- 43:50Speaker 1: in newspapers, so that's a slight, slight possibility. Nancy Guthrie,
- 43:55Speaker 1: it's day nine now, you know she needs all kinds
- 43:58Speaker 1: of medicine heart medicinelood pressure medicine. She got cardiac problems.
- 44:02Speaker 1: I've asked doctors if the kidnappers she has no medicine.
- 44:06Speaker 1: If you're on all these medicines, how long could you go.
- 44:09Speaker 1: It's nine days without her medicine. Well they say it
- 44:13Speaker 1: it's not good, but you could last a couple of
- 44:15Speaker 1: weeks without the medicine. You know. They found a lot
- 44:18Speaker 1: of blood, trail of blood. One of the things she
- 44:22Speaker 1: was probably taking for the heart problems was a blood thinner.
- 44:26Speaker 1: So that's why all the blood. It might not have
- 44:28Speaker 1: been that much of an injury, but the slightest little
- 44:30Speaker 1: cut you can bleed a lot when you're on those
- 44:32Speaker 1: blood thinners. So we'll we'll see. Today at five o'clock
- 44:37Speaker 1: is a deadline, big deadline. Five o'clock today, I'm supposed
- 44:42Speaker 1: to deliver the six million dollar ransom and bitcoin. You know,
- 44:47Speaker 1: the old days, you had to take the money, put
- 44:48Speaker 1: it in a suitcase, They give you a location you
- 44:51Speaker 1: drop it off, which meant the kidnappers had to come
- 44:53Speaker 1: pick up the money physically, come pick it up somewhere.
- 44:57Speaker 1: So that was a way to catch them. With the bitcoin.
- 45:00Speaker 1: I don't know how you catch them I don't know
- 45:01Speaker 1: how you'd ever traced them. They could already be long
- 45:03Speaker 1: gone out of the country. But we'll see what happens
- 45:06Speaker 1: later today. So mayor, Mom, Donnie, and you're saying, why
- 45:14Speaker 1: doesn't he do something? Why doesn't he act? Why doesn't
- 45:16Speaker 1: he Well, he's busy with this is what he was
- 45:19Speaker 1: busy with this weekend.
- 45:20Speaker 11: The story of the Hidra reminds us the prophet Muhammad,
- 45:24Speaker 11: so the ala Ali who was seldom was a stranger too,
- 45:28Speaker 11: who fled Mecca and was welcomed in Medina. Sura Nahal
- 45:32Speaker 11: sixteen forty two tells us as for those who immigrated
- 45:35Speaker 11: in the cause of a law, after being persecuted, we
- 45:38Speaker 11: will surely bless them with a good home in this world.
- 45:41Speaker 11: Or as the prophet Muhammad Sali al'li he was seldom said,
- 45:45Speaker 11: Islam began as something strange and will go back to
- 45:48Speaker 11: being strange. So glad tidings to the strangers.
- 45:51Speaker 1: What the hell are you talking about? Just pick up
- 45:54Speaker 1: the snow, What the hell are you talking about? Pick
- 45:56Speaker 1: up the garbage? What on earth are you saying this? Hey,
- 46:02Speaker 1: you gotta blame I hate to say, you gotta blame
- 46:05Speaker 1: democratic voters. How the hell did you elect this guy?
- 46:08Speaker 1: What on earth were you thinking? What is wrong with you?
- 46:12Speaker 1: The real problem was Andrew Cuomo got in a race,
- 46:14Speaker 1: and everybody hates this guy. Nobody hates Andrew Cuomo more
- 46:17Speaker 1: than the Democrats. So he got in the primary. It
- 46:20Speaker 1: was it was how it was how Mom Donni won.
- 46:24Speaker 1: They just it was a lot of voting against Cuomo.
- 46:27Speaker 1: And they say, you know here, when you win the
- 46:29Speaker 1: Democratic primary, you win the election. Hey, by the way,
- 46:32Speaker 1: Cuomo is now doing a radio show. You should listen
- 46:34Speaker 1: to this. This guy is so far to the left.
- 46:37Speaker 1: Cuomo is so left wing. If you're thinking, yeah, Mam
- 46:41Speaker 1: Donnie is terrible, I wish we had Cuomo listen to
- 46:43Speaker 1: his radio show. Sometimes he is to the left of
- 46:46Speaker 1: Mom Donnie on most issues. This week talking about how
- 46:50Speaker 1: awful Ice is. Ice is so terrible. Ice is a
- 46:53Speaker 1: bunch of fascists. There are a bunch of thugs. I mean,
- 46:55Speaker 1: you can use that language, but that's basically what he
- 46:58Speaker 1: was saying. Hey, well, take some calls next, Scott Shannon.
- 47:00Speaker 1: In a few minutes, we'll talk about the super Bowl,
- 47:03Speaker 1: but we'll take some calls next. Eight hundred three to two,
- 47:06Speaker 1: one zero seven ten is the number eight hundred three
- 47:10Speaker 1: two one zero seven ten. It's the Marks among show
- 47:14Speaker 1: on seven tenor Hey, let's take some calls. Let's go
- 47:20Speaker 1: to Steve, Union City. Steve, how you doing.
- 47:23Speaker 12: I'm doing great, Mark. I wanted to comment on Seattle's
- 47:27Speaker 12: idea of taxing the football players from other cities and
- 47:30Speaker 12: states when they play there.
- 47:31Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 47:32Speaker 12: I'm an actor, a retired actor. Cities and states all
- 47:35Speaker 12: over the country have been doing this to us when
- 47:37Speaker 12: we're on tour for decades. We go into some city
- 47:41Speaker 12: and they decide, oh, we're going to tax you while
- 47:42Speaker 12: you're here for the portion of the money that you
- 47:44Speaker 12: made while you're here. So we're being taxed without representation
- 47:48Speaker 12: and kind of double taxed because we're still paying tax
- 47:50Speaker 12: to the state where we live.
- 47:51Speaker 1: Yeah, it's absolutely ridiculous. And what were you in that
- 47:55Speaker 1: we might have seen?
- 47:56Speaker 12: I was in the Broadway Company of forty second Street
- 47:58Speaker 12: for three and a half years, the National Company of Footloose,
- 48:01Speaker 12: lots of other shows.
- 48:02Speaker 1: Very good, excellent, Well thanks for calling, Steve. Take care.
- 48:05Speaker 1: Let's go to Robert in New Jersey. Robert, how you doing,
- 48:10Speaker 1: Good morning, Mark.
- 48:11Speaker 13: I wanted to make about the alternative halftime show. You know,
- 48:15Speaker 13: it was the big name there was, Kid And the
- 48:19Speaker 13: problem was he didn't even actually come on and perform
- 48:22Speaker 13: and Buck the other halftime show with the game was over,
- 48:25Speaker 13: so everybody went back to watch the game till and
- 48:28Speaker 13: the big the big name for the alternative halftime show.
- 48:30Speaker 8: I don't even think anybody saw it.
- 48:32Speaker 1: Well, actually seven million people saw the alternative show. Seven
- 48:35Speaker 1: million actually twitched over from the super Bowl to watch
- 48:39Speaker 1: the Kid Rock show. Let's go to Bob in Georgia. Bob,
- 48:43Speaker 1: how you doing?
- 48:45Speaker 8: Yeah, hey, hi, Mark. The only thing I could figure
- 48:48Speaker 8: they had a Spanish singer for the halftime show is
- 48:51Speaker 8: maybe they're trying to bring in that demographic. But I
- 48:55Speaker 8: got to tell you, the guys are the Spanish guys
- 48:57Speaker 8: I worked with, and the Spanish people I know like soccer,
- 49:01Speaker 8: So I don't know who he really was playing to.
- 49:04Speaker 8: I guess I guess maybe one of the younger people
- 49:06Speaker 8: or something like that. Anyway, that was my opinion about it.
- 49:08Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, well thanks for calling. The problem is
- 49:10Speaker 1: you could actually argue that he is the biggest and
- 49:12Speaker 1: most successful singer in the world today. But as we
- 49:15Speaker 1: were saying today, you could be the number one selling
- 49:18Speaker 1: artist in the world and only one little demographic nose.
- 49:21Speaker 1: You ulf the half the country's never heard of you.
- 49:25Speaker 1: It's all splintered up right now, Let's go to Sandy
- 49:28Speaker 1: in Long Island. Sandy, how you doing?
- 49:31Speaker 5: How are you?
- 49:32Speaker 12: Mark?
- 49:32Speaker 1: I'm good.
- 49:33Speaker 14: I also have a comment to make about the halftime show.
- 49:37Speaker 14: I don't Roger Friedman must be delusional. How anyone could
- 49:41Speaker 14: stand that show? I can't figure it out.
- 49:44Speaker 1: Well, he was pretty understand he can understanding. But he
- 49:47Speaker 1: was pretty good.
- 49:49Speaker 14: He wasn't good.
- 49:50Speaker 1: He was pretty good.
- 49:52Speaker 14: Oh, give me a break.
- 49:53Speaker 1: No, he looked good. The moves were good. Everything. It
- 49:56Speaker 1: was the choreography, the whole terrific.
- 49:58Speaker 14: It was borderline porn. It to be Witherking and everything
- 50:02Speaker 14: you listen to you you could.
- 50:04Speaker 1: Use a little borderline porn.
- 50:09Speaker 14: Private perhaps put not on TV.
- 50:12Speaker 1: Hey, let me ask you a question. This new study
- 50:13Speaker 1: shows that more women are looking at porn than ever before,
- 50:17Speaker 1: the porn sites that I've never seen this boor what
- 50:19Speaker 1: do you attribute that to?
- 50:21Speaker 14: I have to tell you I don't know, and I
- 50:24Speaker 14: have to question who did the survey?
- 50:27Speaker 1: Well, it's not a survey, it's actual numbers.
- 50:29Speaker 14: It's well, I don't know what to say. I'm certainly
- 50:33Speaker 14: not one of them. All right, if you're happy own,
- 50:36Speaker 14: you don't have to You really don't have to do that.
- 50:38Speaker 1: No, I understand, thanks for calling me. Yeah, it's just interesting. Uh.
- 50:44Speaker 1: Some experts think it's that people. Whatever they used to
- 50:48Speaker 1: do physically in person, they're doing online now. So a
- 50:51Speaker 1: lot a lot of women less actual going out with men,
- 50:54Speaker 1: sex with men, they're just doing it online. It's the
- 50:56Speaker 1: same thing with everything else. You used to go see
- 50:58Speaker 1: people talk to them. Now you text and everything becomes digital.
- 51:02Speaker 1: Let's go to Joe Bergen County. Joe, how you doing?
- 51:06Speaker 6: Good morning, Mark, how you doing?
- 51:07Speaker 1: I want to switch gears here.
- 51:09Speaker 2: Kudos to Vincent.
- 51:10Speaker 6: Uh, where's my cap on my my PSC?
- 51:14Speaker 7: Jal went thirty dollars more?
- 51:17Speaker 5: Where's my cap?
- 51:18Speaker 1: But are you talking about what he's talking about? The energy? Oh?
- 51:24Speaker 4: Electric?
- 51:25Speaker 6: Okay, our energy bills went up even more.
- 51:28Speaker 15: She's supposed to put a cap on it.
- 51:30Speaker 1: Oh yeah, good luck with that. You voted for a Democrat.
- 51:32Speaker 3: No no, no, no, we didn't.
- 51:37Speaker 5: I don't know how she got in. I don't know
- 51:39Speaker 5: where she came from.
- 51:40Speaker 1: I know, but I'm just telling you you elect a Democrat.
- 51:42Speaker 1: Your energy costs go up, everything goes up. Your good
- 51:44Speaker 1: example is New York. You elected Cuomo. He shut down
- 51:48Speaker 1: the nuclear plant Indian Point that was twenty five percent
- 51:51Speaker 1: of our electricity twenty five percent taken off line. That means,
- 51:55Speaker 1: you know, you got to buy it from out of state.
- 51:57Speaker 1: It increases the cost. Absolutelyiculous. One more Michael on the
- 52:01Speaker 1: East Side. Michael, what you want to say sorry?
- 52:13Speaker 16: Garden with Godden.
- 52:17Speaker 1: The same thing, what'd you say? Okay?
- 52:21Speaker 15: With Garden had been Ghazi attack? The John Batchelor Show
- 52:27Speaker 15: had somebody on at the time that really discussed in
- 52:33Speaker 15: depth the true story and why Hillary Clinton would not
- 52:39Speaker 15: send support because that would expose one of her gun
- 52:46Speaker 15: trading operations.
- 52:48Speaker 1: Well, more likely it was Hillary Clinton and the world's
- 52:51Speaker 1: worst manager, didn't know what the hell she was doing.
- 52:53Speaker 1: Left those people there, just left them for dead. It
- 52:56Speaker 1: was awful. Hey. When we come back, speaking of music
- 53:00Speaker 1: and mainstream artists, we'll talk to the greatest living DJ,
- 53:03Speaker 1: the legend himself, Scott Shannon will go over the super
- 53:06Speaker 1: Bowl and more. Coming up next on seven to ten.
- 53:09Speaker 1: Wor set up re said on the iHeartRadio app to
- 53:13Speaker 1: woor to hear Mark Live set.
- 53:16Speaker 4: Another for Mark's podcast to hear him anytime.
- 53:20Speaker 1: Now, back to Mark Simone on woor Well with us
- 53:25Speaker 1: right now, the greatest living DJ, the radio legend himself,
- 53:30Speaker 1: Scott Shannon is with us. Scott Shannon, how you doing?
- 53:34Speaker 16: Coming right at you on miss Work Monday. We're both
- 53:38Speaker 16: working our tales off today. Yeah, kind of put everything
- 53:43Speaker 16: in perspective. I do have. I've been listening to your
- 53:49Speaker 16: radio show this morning, and I gotta tell you, you
- 53:52Speaker 16: and I usually agree, but not this time. My friend,
- 53:57Speaker 16: what that halftime show? It was a business. It was horrible.
- 54:02Speaker 1: Well, visually it looked good and the moves were good,
- 54:05Speaker 1: and the music was bouncy lively.
- 54:09Speaker 16: Let me ask you a question. Back when Prince did it,
- 54:15Speaker 16: when Bruce did it, when Lady Gaga did it, all
- 54:18Speaker 16: the way back to when Up with People did it,
- 54:21Speaker 16: it was all about the music. It was about the
- 54:26Speaker 16: singing to the country, right. Yeah, so you're telling me
- 54:32Speaker 16: it was an entertaining shoke, except you didn't know one
- 54:35Speaker 16: word he was singing.
- 54:36Speaker 1: Yeah. But see, here's the problem that I was going
- 54:39Speaker 1: to ask you. Back then, Bruce Springsteen was a mainstream
- 54:44Speaker 1: artist that everybody knew. The music. Now is so splintered.
- 54:48Speaker 1: Can you name anybody that everybody would know, every demo
- 54:52Speaker 1: everybody would know.
- 54:54Speaker 16: Well, the thing that you're missing, I think is the
- 54:58Speaker 16: fact that most people who speak Spanish are big soccer fans.
- 55:04Speaker 16: I think you mentioned that once this morning. Yeah, and
- 55:08Speaker 16: then he goes on and you know, also people forgot
- 55:12Speaker 16: this was also about the two hundred and fifties anniversary
- 55:15Speaker 16: of our country, where our actual most people in America
- 55:21Speaker 16: speak English. God, you know, I'd have nothing against mister Bunny.
- 55:27Speaker 16: I think he's a fine, fine artist. But here's something
- 55:32Speaker 16: for you when you watch when you turn on one
- 55:34Speaker 16: of the Spanish speaking televisions, do they have an English
- 55:38Speaker 16: show on there?
- 55:40Speaker 1: No?
- 55:41Speaker 16: I don't think so, Mark, of course not so. How
- 55:47Speaker 16: many people do you think started to watch that? Look,
- 55:51Speaker 16: the set was beautiful, the dancers were great, but I
- 55:54Speaker 16: couldn't understand one damn word he was singing. Well, I
- 55:58Speaker 16: don't speak Spanish.
- 56:00Speaker 1: A lot of today's biggest hits I love. I can't
- 56:03Speaker 1: understand one word they're saying either.
- 56:04Speaker 16: So oh, come on, you can understand. You can understand
- 56:09Speaker 16: Taylor Swift when she's singing.
- 56:11Speaker 1: Yeah, But there's a bunch of songs I don't know
- 56:13Speaker 1: what all they're singing, but they're great and I love them.
- 56:15Speaker 16: Well, you know the other thing people aren't. I don't
- 56:20Speaker 16: know if you've talked about this or you realize it,
- 56:24Speaker 16: but you've got to remember Roger Goodell is very clear
- 56:29Speaker 16: with his plans for his league. He thinks he wants
- 56:35Speaker 16: it to be the International Football League, not the NFL,
- 56:39Speaker 16: not the National Football League. He had a games down
- 56:43Speaker 16: in Mexico, he's been in London, he's been in Germany.
- 56:46Speaker 16: They're going I think they're doing one in Italy or France,
- 56:50Speaker 16: I think, and I think this was just part of
- 56:53Speaker 16: that big plan.
- 56:54Speaker 1: Yeah, no, you're absolutely right. Hey, Roger Goodell, who's a
- 56:57Speaker 1: very unpleasant, unlikable sort of guy, but the other guy.
- 57:01Speaker 1: Owners love him because he knows how to make money.
- 57:03Speaker 1: He makes them a ton of money. So you're right,
- 57:06Speaker 1: that's his plan, more international and expand.
- 57:09Speaker 16: Yeah, that ma and this fits right into his plan.
- 57:14Speaker 16: The obvious thing that should have been done it was
- 57:18Speaker 16: they're forgetting about the you know, I know they had
- 57:20Speaker 16: the flyover, but it's a two hundred and fiftieth anniversary
- 57:23Speaker 16: of our country, for God's eight, Then what do you
- 57:26Speaker 16: do for the halftime show. Yeah, I can't that couldn't.
- 57:32Speaker 4: Take it all right.
- 57:33Speaker 1: But the good thing was Charlie Pooth I thought was
- 57:35Speaker 1: absolutely brilliant singing the national anthem. Would you agree?
- 57:41Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 57:41Speaker 16: I thought he did a great job. Yeah, I did,
- 57:43Speaker 16: There's no doubt about that.
- 57:45Speaker 1: I mean, wardrobe wise, he looked ridiculous. He looked like
- 57:48Speaker 1: Marlon Brando in on the Waterfront with that jacket.
- 57:50Speaker 16: But uh, you know, one of the I don't know,
- 57:54Speaker 16: I don't even know if you saw this, but there
- 57:56Speaker 16: was a high, high highs point in the proceedings in
- 58:02Speaker 16: the fourth quarters. It has always happened. Some guy ran
- 58:06Speaker 16: across the field and it was funny too because nobody
- 58:10Speaker 16: could catch him except a guy in a in a
- 58:13Speaker 16: New England uniform and he tackled this so he took
- 58:17Speaker 16: him down on the ten yard line.
- 58:20Speaker 1: Well, I actually missed it, I thought later, but I
- 58:22Speaker 1: was actually eating then buffet.
- 58:25Speaker 16: That was pretty cool.
- 58:26Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 58:26Speaker 16: But and like I said, I thought the sets were
- 58:29Speaker 16: beautiful and Bunny was fine. I mean, he's a great performer.
- 58:34Speaker 16: I just I'd like sometimes I'd like to hear what
- 58:36Speaker 16: there's you know, telepre singing.
- 58:38Speaker 1: Yeah, but again the problem is Prince was like everybody
- 58:43Speaker 1: knew Prince back then. There's no mainstream singers anymore that
- 58:45Speaker 1: everybody knows. There's no such thing, even our You took
- 58:49Speaker 1: our radio stations here on this floor. You got Z
- 58:51Speaker 1: one hundred over there, which you created. You got Power
- 58:54Speaker 1: one O five, you got Q one o four. They
- 58:56Speaker 1: all played different artists. There's no artists that could get
- 58:58Speaker 1: played on all of our stations.
- 59:01Speaker 16: You know what, did you get a chance to pay
- 59:04Speaker 16: much attention to the commercials?
- 59:06Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 59:08Speaker 16: I thought there are some great commercials. This was really
- 59:11Speaker 16: a battery year for commercials. You had that Uh you
- 59:15Speaker 16: had that one.
- 59:16Speaker 1: What was it?
- 59:17Speaker 16: You had bon Jovi in there, Stop living on a prayer? Yeah,
- 59:21Speaker 16: you had the great Budweiser commercials were the best they've
- 59:24Speaker 16: had in a long time. Uh that Clydesdale Orse, that
- 59:29Speaker 16: little baby and the baby Eagle, all that things strong.
- 59:33Speaker 16: And then what about the Goodwill Duncan commercial. Yeah, Film Stiller,
- 59:40Speaker 16: Jennifer Addison, Tom Brady, they're all in that thing.
- 59:44Speaker 1: The only problem is nowadays you watch so much video
- 59:46Speaker 1: AI unbelievable special effects video, all kinds of amazing videos
- 59:50Speaker 1: all day long on TikTok as. After all, that all
- 59:54Speaker 1: day and night. These commercials aren't so dazzling anymore. We're
- 59:57Speaker 1: used to it too much.
- 59:59Speaker 16: Yeah, but I thought these were very entertained. There were
- 1:00:02Speaker 16: a couple of them. There were pretty good commercials, but
- 1:00:04Speaker 16: I couldn't figure.
- 1:00:06Speaker 4: Out what the product was.
- 1:00:08Speaker 16: That's a problem when you spend that kind of money.
- 1:00:10Speaker 16: And oh what did you see the talking toilet seee? Yeah,
- 1:00:15Speaker 16: so yeah, that was pretty funny.
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: They were pretty good. The game itself not very good.
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: The New England got to the Super Bowl a couple
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: of years too early. They're not ready for this yet.
- 1:00:26Speaker 16: Yeah, but that that defense of Seattle was they were incredible.
- 1:00:31Speaker 16: Oh that was that was an amazing game. I mean, yeah,
- 1:00:34Speaker 16: there wasn't much action, I agree, but you know it was.
- 1:00:40Speaker 16: It was good. If you were a big fan.
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: Yeah, you were a.
- 1:00:43Speaker 16: Fan of Seattle. Now what about I know, not everybody's
- 1:00:50Speaker 16: kicked in yet for the Winter Olympics, but at Lindsey
- 1:00:54Speaker 16: von thing was kind of crazy. Yeah, she's forty one
- 1:00:58Speaker 16: years old, she's at and a ruptured or a c
- 1:01:01Speaker 16: A a week ago. And then he's gonna put a bracelet.
- 1:01:05Speaker 16: I'm ready, I'm all set. I'll be fine. That had
- 1:01:08Speaker 16: that had disaster it all over, I thought. And then
- 1:01:12Speaker 16: she she what She hit her shoulder too, didn't she
- 1:01:16Speaker 16: on one of those passer by things you skate. I'm
- 1:01:19Speaker 16: out of skier, so I don't know what I'm talking about.
- 1:01:22Speaker 16: And then they had to rush her off, and I
- 1:01:23Speaker 16: think she broke her leg or something, you.
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: Know, And I can't figure o whut anybody would be
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: a skier. It seems like the dumbest sport in the world.
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: You pay money, go somewhere where it's colder than where
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: you are, you have to wear all those contraptions.
- 1:01:36Speaker 16: It well, it worked all right, worked out all right
- 1:01:39Speaker 16: for Sonny Bono, didn't it.
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: Exactly? You're gonna get you get yourself killed. It's a ridiculous.
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: The same vacation you can go lie on a beach
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: and have nothing but fun. It's crazy.
- 1:01:50Speaker 16: I'm more of it. I'm more of a sun guy myself.
- 1:01:53Speaker 16: I enjoy that. But there was we did win a
- 1:01:56Speaker 16: gold medal.
- 1:01:57Speaker 5: Uh.
- 1:01:57Speaker 16: This alpine skier Breezyjohnson got a gold medal in women's downhill.
- 1:02:04Speaker 16: And then while she's having a press cover, she progradamn
- 1:02:07Speaker 16: gold medal into three pieces accidentally, so she smashed her metal.
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: Yeah, now you bring up a good point se two
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: hundred and fiftieth anniversary of America. You know, coming up
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: in July, there's going to be some amazing concerts, amazing
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: events all summer Washington. They're gonna have and I don't
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: think Democrats are too crazy about this. They're gonna have
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: NASCAR around Washington, IndyCar They're going to have wrestling at
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: the White These are not big Democratic sports, are they.
- 1:02:36Speaker 16: That's not the kind of well I don't think there's
- 1:02:39Speaker 16: a lot of stuff that happens at the White House
- 1:02:41Speaker 16: every year.
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: Yeah. Hey, by the way, everybody, you can listen to
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: Scott Shannon on the True Oldies Channel. Where should they
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: go to get it?
- 1:02:50Speaker 16: Well, what I did was I've always been a fan.
- 1:02:53Speaker 16: That's my hobby.
- 1:02:54Speaker 2: You know.
- 1:02:55Speaker 16: I love music, and that's what got me into the
- 1:02:58Speaker 16: radio business. I love music first, and I think the
- 1:03:03Speaker 16: greatest decade of music was the sixties and the seventies
- 1:03:08Speaker 16: right behind it. Dependent you know on your age and
- 1:03:10Speaker 16: who you are and what your preference is. But I
- 1:03:13Speaker 16: took all the best music from the sixties and seventies
- 1:03:17Speaker 16: and mix them all together and keep the commercials down.
- 1:03:21Speaker 16: You know, if you grew up on WABC, it's a
- 1:03:24Speaker 16: perfect place for you, True Oldiest Channel, or on ninety
- 1:03:27Speaker 16: two three FM h D three, which is Yeah, once
- 1:03:33Speaker 16: you get there, it's beautiful sound. You get it any
- 1:03:37Speaker 16: car in the last ten years, or you can get
- 1:03:39Speaker 16: it on your Alexa. You say, Alexa, play the True
- 1:03:44Speaker 16: Oldiest Channel. It's that simple.
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: And you can listen to Scott Channon show every morning
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: on the True Oldiest Channel.
- 1:03:50Speaker 16: So yeah, yeah, I still do a morning show there. Yeah,
- 1:03:54Speaker 16: I don't have to take I don't take the trip
- 1:03:56Speaker 16: into the city like I did for like thirty thirty years.
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: Yes, much easier now. So but listen to the True
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: Oldies Channel, Scott Channon. Great stuff is always thanks for
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: being with us.
- 1:04:07Speaker 16: Thank you. And by the way, it is it is
- 1:04:11Speaker 16: miss work Monday and we showed up.
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: Thanks for being with us. Take care. Yeah, they want
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: to make this an actual holiday. Hey, coming up Buck
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: and Clay. They do an excellent show. You do not
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: want to miss them. They're on noon to three. They'll
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: be here right after the News of twelve on seven
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: ten WR.
- 1:04:30Speaker 4: On seventen WR. He's more of the Marks Emo show.
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: Well, Hey, a lot of fighting about the voter ID.
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: Chuck Schumer all over the place saying requiring a voter ID.
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: It's like Jim Crow and everybody under sixty going, tell us,
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: Jim Crow, who is he talking about? But this voter
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: I D thing is so ridiculous. Eighty three percent of
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: America wants a voter ID. Eighty three percent. They make
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: up this whole racist, ridiculous stereotype that the minority community, well,
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: they can't they don't have ID, they don't know how
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: to get an ID. With the most awful, stupid stereotype,
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: absolutely ridiculous. You need a photo ID for just about everything.
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: You know, if you want to buy this cough medicine,
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: you got to have a voter IDA and a photo
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: ID in the pharmacy. So on CNN, MSNBC, the ABC
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: Sunday Show yesterday going on and on about how evil
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: and racist and cruel voter photo ID is, while at
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: the same time you have to have photo ID to
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: get into the NBC building, to go to MSNBC, to
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: go to CNN. I've been on all these shows. You
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: got to show your driver's license photo ID just to
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: get in the building. Same thing with ABC, you have
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: to show photo ID. In every major building in New
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: York City, every skyscraper, everything. It's perfectly normal again. Eighty
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: three percent of America wants voter ID photo ID to vote.
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: It's every other country in the world does it. We're
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: the only ones that don't, and it's absolutely ridiculous. Hey,
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: we're out of time, don't go away. Buck and Clay
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: coming up next with great show every day noon to three.
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: I'm here ten to noon every weekday. Or if you
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: can't listen ten to noon, or you miss an hour,
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: or you miss a show, you can always get the podcast.
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: That way. You can hear this show anytime you want,
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: day or night, wherever you get podcasts. So see you tomorrow.
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: Thanks for everything. Marx Simone here seven to ten. Wo
