- 0:00Speaker 1: Well, imagine my shock this morning when I see a
- 0:03Speaker 1: headline where did I see it first? Fox website? I think,
- 0:08Speaker 1: why is Utah on the Worst States to Live in list?
- 0:13Speaker 2: Why?
- 0:13Speaker 1: Indeed it is. It's CNBC's list of the worst States
- 0:19Speaker 1: to Live in. Utah made an appearance and was the
- 0:22Speaker 1: only Western state with that distinction. CNBC set it used
- 0:26Speaker 1: factors such as crime rates, air quality, healthcare to determine
- 0:31Speaker 1: its rankings, along with childcare reproductive rights. Overall, it gave
- 0:36Speaker 1: Utah a quality of life score of ninety five out
- 0:39Speaker 1: of two hundred and ninety points possible, and they wrote
- 0:45Speaker 1: disparagingly of it as well. Let me go to the
- 0:47Speaker 1: complete description here, Utah.
- 0:50Speaker 2: Come on America's most powerful weirdos.
- 0:52Speaker 3: Yes, it's true.
- 0:52Speaker 1: For all its natural beauty, Utah is not the healthiest
- 0:56Speaker 1: place to live, ranking number forty seven for primary care
- 1:00Speaker 1: air providers. Air quality leaves something to be desired with
- 1:04Speaker 1: high ozone levels. According to the American Lung Association, The
- 1:08Speaker 1: Beehive State gets its nickname from the industriousness of its workers,
- 1:12Speaker 1: but the state doesn't do much to make their lives easier.
- 1:16Speaker 1: The minimum wage of seven dollars and twenty five cents
- 1:19Speaker 1: an hour covers just sixteen point five percent of the
- 1:22Speaker 1: cost of living for a family of four, according to
- 1:24Speaker 1: Oxfam America, and Utah has just five hundred and thirteen
- 1:30Speaker 1: This is not true, is it? Utah has just five
- 1:33Speaker 1: hundred and thirteen licensed childcare centers in a state with
- 1:37Speaker 1: three point five million people.
- 1:39Speaker 3: I believe it. That's one of the biggest issues.
- 1:43Speaker 1: What is the strength of the living Utah? Crime is
- 1:45Speaker 1: not bad, but weaknesses health, childcare, worker protections, and air quality.
- 1:53Speaker 1: So the bottom ten the very worst state to live
- 1:59Speaker 1: in is Arkansas and uh then let's see it goes Arkansas, Alabama, Georgia,
- 2:08Speaker 1: so southern states, Indiana, Louisiana, Missouri, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Oh, Tennessee,
- 2:16Speaker 1: it says ranked worst overall.
- 2:20Speaker 3: I believe that.
- 2:21Speaker 1: It's let's see what they say about I've got the
- 2:24Speaker 1: whole red states are the Uh probably, Let's let me
- 2:29Speaker 1: look at it again. Yep, yep, yeah, there's not a
- 2:35Speaker 1: there's not a democratic controlled state on there. How about that?
- 2:40Speaker 3: Do you want to know where the best ones are?
- 2:42Speaker 1: Also not nearly as much fun as the worst ones. Uh,
- 2:47Speaker 1: let's here's Tennessee. Let me do that. First rank the worst. Republicans,
- 2:51Speaker 1: led by Governor Bill Lee, make no apologies for a
- 2:53Speaker 1: rash of state laws targeting lgbt Q plus community, including
- 2:57Speaker 1: a so called bathroom law requiring transgender people to use
- 3:00Speaker 1: facilities to sign for their sex at birth. The state
- 3:03Speaker 1: also explicitly bars localities from adopting their own anti discrimination ordinances.
- 3:08Speaker 1: To underscore the point, we signed a resolution earlier this
- 3:11Speaker 1: year designating June Nuclear family Month h yeah, consisting of
- 3:16Speaker 1: one husband, one wife and any biological, adopted or foster children.
- 3:21Speaker 1: It's God's design for familiar familial structure and has been
- 3:25Speaker 1: the bedrocket Society since the creation of.
- 3:28Speaker 3: The World Family Fun. Utah Fun.
- 3:31Speaker 1: Tennessee also has one of the highest violent crime rates
- 3:34Speaker 1: in the nation, and it has the third highest rate
- 3:37Speaker 1: of drug deaths according to the Utah or the United
- 3:41Speaker 1: Health Foundation.
- 3:42Speaker 2: That childcare thing for Utah, those yes, that should be
- 3:49Speaker 2: you know, for a state that says we care about kids,
- 3:52Speaker 2: we care about well and they should have the best
- 3:53Speaker 2: childcare of.
- 3:54Speaker 1: It And they just pulled all that funding and closed
- 3:57Speaker 1: those centers recently out Yeah, Salt Lake County did.
- 4:02Speaker 3: Yeah, we should have the.
- 4:03Speaker 2: Best quality childcare, affordable childcare available here. I still want
- 4:09Speaker 2: to figure out how New Mexico has done. New Mexico
- 4:12Speaker 2: has free, quality, state sponsored childcare for anybody who wants it.
- 4:18Speaker 2: If they can do it, we should be able to listen.
- 4:20Speaker 1: We've got to give tax breaks to the data centers. Now,
- 4:23Speaker 1: what are the what are the best ones? You have those?
- 4:26Speaker 3: Yeah, let's see.
- 4:27Speaker 2: We have Nebraska, Okay, Massachusetts.
- 4:31Speaker 3: This is counting down to number one. North Dakota. Kind
- 4:36Speaker 3: of surprising, North.
- 4:37Speaker 2: Dakota, Virginia, New Hampshire, Hawaii.
- 4:43Speaker 3: Carrie wants to go to.
- 4:46Speaker 2: Connecticut. Minnesota. Oh, and Donald Trump hates Minnesota. They get
- 4:53Speaker 2: an A for quality of life a rating. New Jersey
- 4:58Speaker 2: kind of surprising. Maine and Vermont. So lots of the
- 5:05Speaker 2: New England state. You know, we're all the liberals. Yeah,
- 5:08Speaker 2: so Maine, Maine gets an A plus read the description.
- 5:12Speaker 2: Maine has America's lowest violent crime rate, with just one
- 5:15Speaker 2: hundred incidents per one hundred thousand people. Maine legislators passed
- 5:20Speaker 2: a series of reforms that earned the state most improved
- 5:22Speaker 2: honors from gun violence Prevention.
- 5:26Speaker 3: The Pine Street Pine Tree.
- 5:27Speaker 2: State's laws offer a wide range of protections against discrimination,
- 5:30Speaker 2: but the state does have some challenges when it comes
- 5:33Speaker 2: to health. My sister in law moved there and she's
- 5:38Speaker 2: had a hard time, like finding a doctor.
- 5:40Speaker 3: They just aren't aren't enough.
- 5:42Speaker 2: But as far as crime inclusiveness, air quality all ranks
- 5:47Speaker 2: a plus.
- 5:47Speaker 1: For those plus you can get a good lobster roll.
- 5:50Speaker 1: Oh yeah, well you can get a good lobster in
- 5:52Speaker 1: Salt Lake, Vermont.
- 5:54Speaker 2: Did I say Maine was topt Vermont is top? People
- 5:56Speaker 2: are feeling good in Vermont. Fifty four percent of Vermonders
- 5:59Speaker 2: survey reported that they were in good or excellent health
- 6:02Speaker 2: more than any other state. Crime is low, They've got
- 6:08Speaker 2: great reproductive rights.
- 6:10Speaker 3: Air quality is great.
- 6:12Speaker 1: So Sketchy Blake of Ogden says, I agree. Once you
- 6:15Speaker 1: guys retire, I will be Sketchy. Blake of Oregon is
- 6:20Speaker 1: Moregon on the best.
- 6:22Speaker 3: Morgan's not.
- 6:25Speaker 1: So. And I've you know, I'm not that familiar with
- 6:30Speaker 1: New England, but I think I'd like to become more
- 6:32Speaker 1: familiar with New England.
- 6:34Speaker 3: It's it's beautiful. They have water, which which is a
- 6:39Speaker 3: good thing.
- 6:40Speaker 2: But yeah, my sister in law, I did say that
- 6:43Speaker 2: one of one of the problems is finding just finding
- 6:47Speaker 2: a doctor, any doctor.
- 6:48Speaker 3: Really, it is difficult. There's just not not a lot
- 6:51Speaker 3: of them.
- 6:52Speaker 1: There Minnesota, who don Donald Trump hats and you know,
- 6:57Speaker 1: sent the National Guard there and Alex pretty and the
- 7:02Speaker 1: Orne Good killed there by ice officials. Minnesota offers among
- 7:06Speaker 1: the nation's strongest guarantees of reproductive rights. While there are
- 7:10Speaker 1: few issues more divisive than abortion, the economics of it
- 7:14Speaker 1: are become increasingly clear cut since the Supreme Court's Dobbs
- 7:18Speaker 1: decision returned jurisdiction to the states. A twenty twenty five
- 7:21Speaker 1: study of the National Bureau of Economic Research found abortion
- 7:24Speaker 1: bands increase net migration outflows, and that the effects are
- 7:29Speaker 1: more prominent for single person households and family households, which
- 7:32Speaker 1: may reflect larger effects on the younger adults.
- 7:35Speaker 2: Remember, Minnesota is where Tim Walls said, yeah, free school
- 7:40Speaker 2: lunch for everybody.
- 7:42Speaker 1: Yeah, but aren't they right?
- 7:44Speaker 3: What again, if you care about children, free school lunch
- 7:48Speaker 3: for everybody?
- 7:49Speaker 1: That does? Say? Here, though, one of the weaknesses of
- 7:51Speaker 1: Minnesota is childcare. They don't have enough childcare. But other
- 7:57Speaker 1: than that, well, okay, why would I go to Utah?
- 8:01Speaker 2: I love booze, caffeine and monogamy.
- 8:06Speaker 3: All right, Well, okay, traffic.
- 8:11Speaker 2: Let's see how traffic is in Utah by the way.
- 8:13Speaker 2: I love living here. I would love to be able
- 8:18Speaker 2: to flip this list and be on the great list
- 8:21Speaker 2: rather than blake, rather than moving. Let's let's try to
- 8:25Speaker 2: make let's try to make Utah great again.
- 8:28Speaker 1: Let that let me say that this about the way
- 8:33Speaker 1: it's described, way Utah has described uh huh. I would
- 8:37Speaker 1: dis any politician in the state of Utah. I would
- 8:41Speaker 1: like you to dispute it. How How what could you
- 8:44Speaker 1: say about that that's not true? How you can't I
- 8:47Speaker 1: don't think you can. Well, I've got some facts and
- 8:50Speaker 1: figures from a made up organization that you know I
- 8:53Speaker 1: can quote. Can't you tell you? Tell me how none
- 8:56Speaker 1: of that is true.
