Speaker 1: Thanks Mike. We're back with cracking Head coach Lane Lambert
• 0:03
Speaker 1: Lane following a couple of months ago in Washington, d C.
• 0:06
Speaker 1: In the second game of that back to back, Just
• 0:07
Speaker 1: take us through those thoughts, your thoughts on that game
• 0:10
Speaker 1: in a game in which you said you didn't quite
• 0:13
Speaker 1: like how the Kraken played, but you still do like
• 0:15
Speaker 1: how this team is buying into the system that you're
• 0:18
Speaker 1: trying to develop here.
• 0:20
Speaker 2: Yeah, I didn't like the way we played at all.
• 0:22
Speaker 2: You know, I thought there was a lot of things
• 0:26
Speaker 2: that we have been working on from day one that
• 0:29
Speaker 2: we didn't do, and you can't pick and choose when
• 0:38
Speaker 2: you're going to do them, and so I thought the
• 0:42
Speaker 2: game wasn't good, and I thought it was an opportunity
• 0:45
Speaker 2: and should be an opportunity for us to learn and
• 0:48
Speaker 2: grow from that. You know, we expect to win every game,
• 0:53
Speaker 2: and we can't win if we don't buy into the
• 0:57
Speaker 2: way we're you know, the way we want to play.
• 1:00
Speaker 2: We've done a really good job of it for the
• 1:01
Speaker 2: most part. And you know that was that was a
• 1:06
Speaker 2: game where for me, certain certain areas of that game
• 1:11
  Speaker 2: were completely unacceptable.
• 1:12
Speaker 1: With it being the second game of a back to back,
• 1:15
Speaker 1: your first back to back this season. Do you feel
• 1:17
Speaker 1: that that situation played any role into that effort for
• 1:21
  Speaker 1: your team?
• 1:23
  Speaker 2: I don't care if it's back to back, it can't
• 1:27
Speaker 2: And again, this was you know, this is a good
• 1:30
Speaker 2: learning experience for a hockey team.
• 1:32
Speaker 1: Berkeley Catton two games in a row, he's been on
• 1:34
Speaker 1: that top line, and Matty Benier's earlier today has said
• 1:37
Speaker 1: that he's liked his game and he's doing a lot
• 1:40
Speaker 1: of positive things that have gotten him to this level.
• 1:43
Speaker 1: What are your thoughts on Katon's first two games in
• 1:45
  Speaker 1: the NHL.
• 1:45
  Speaker 2: Yeah, I thought I thought he's been I thought he's
• 1:48
Speaker 2: been pretty good. You know, the always the I guess
• 1:54
Speaker 2: challenge with a young player coming in is you know,
• 1:57
Speaker 2: where is he positionally, because you know, in the National
• 2:00
Speaker 2: High con League, if you're three feet out of position,
• 2:03
Speaker 2: it's gonna hurt you. It just happens so fast. And
• 2:07
Speaker 2: I think for the most part, he's done a pretty
• 2:09
Speaker 2: good job of that. And I've really you know, I've
• 2:13
Speaker 2: really liked the way he you know, he's made some
• 2:15
Speaker 2: good plays. He's he's on the puck. He wants the puck,
• 2:19
Speaker 2: and that's a quality that you can't teach and good
• 2:23
Speaker 2: on him to be that way. You know, he made
• 2:25
Speaker 2: a great play to Everley after we made it three
• 2:28
Speaker 2: to one, which you know, could have made it three
• 2:31
Speaker 2: to two, and then you know we had a push coming.
• 2:34
Speaker 2: But certainly he's he's made a few plays.
• 2:37
Speaker 1: How would you assess the first five games of this
• 2:39
Speaker 1: road trip. There's been some good, there's been some areas
• 2:41
Speaker 1: that you feel this team needs to work on. Where
• 2:43
Speaker 1: do you see this team now going into tonight and
• 2:46
Speaker 1: then ultimately finally back home for the next two weeks.
• 2:49
Speaker 2: Well, if you look at the trip as a whole,
• 2:51
Speaker 2: you know, you can always you know, you sort of
• 2:54
Speaker 2: gotta you gotta look back to the start of it.
• 2:56
Speaker 2: I thought, I thought we played well in Montreal. I
• 2:59
Speaker 2: thought we played you know well in Ottawa. I had
• 3:02
Speaker 2: opportunities to win those games, you know, got a point
• 3:06
Speaker 2: out of them. I thought we were really good in
• 3:08
Speaker 2: Toronto and not as good in Philadelphia, and certainly not
• 3:12
Speaker 2: good in Washington. So overall I assess the trip is,
• 3:15
Speaker 2: you know, if we if we come out and play
• 3:18
Speaker 2: the way we play tonight and win this hockey game.
• 3:21
Speaker 2: You know, a five hundred road trip on an extremely
• 3:25
Speaker 2: long road trip by the way, you know, to me,
• 3:29
Speaker 2: that'll be a positive for us, and you know, and
• 3:34
Speaker 2: we'll go from there. I think there's been way more
• 3:37
Speaker 2: positive on this road trip than there has been negative.
• 3:40
Speaker 2: And we have to remember that, you know, you've got
• 3:42
Speaker 2: to you got to also understand that, you know, it
• 3:45
Speaker 2: is a five game block, and you know the last
• 3:50
Speaker 2: game you can't you know, it's in the back of
• 3:52
Speaker 2: your mind. It wasn't very good. But certainly there's been
• 3:54
Speaker 2: some good things happening for this hockey team.
• 3:57
Speaker 1: Looking at tonight, you take on Winnipeg, They've won five
• 3:59
Speaker 1: games in a row. Like Washington, they returned the bulk
• 4:02
Speaker 1: of their team from last season, so not a whole
• 4:04
Speaker 1: lot of holes in their lineup. What type of issues
• 4:07
Speaker 1: do you see the crack and having to overcome tonight.
• 4:11
Speaker 2: Well, you know, they're a good hockey team, like you said,
• 4:14
Speaker 2: top tier team. You know, they won thirty games at
• 4:18
Speaker 2: home last last year, you know, lost seven. They're big.
• 4:25
Speaker 2: You know, they're a veteran group that understands the importance
• 4:29
Speaker 2: of certain situations. And you know they're going to be
• 4:33
Speaker 2: a challenge for us because we're we're gonna have to play,
• 4:36
Speaker 2: We're gonna have to be at the top of our game,
• 4:39
Speaker 2: and we're gonna have to be prepared to battle and
• 4:44
Speaker 2: win battles against the team that you know is accustomed
• 4:47
Speaker 2: to doing that. So I want us to play fast.
• 4:52
Speaker 2: I think we're faster than there, and I think that
• 4:57
Speaker 2: if we use our speed to our advantage, that'll give
• 5:00
  Speaker 2: us a leg.
• 5:02
Speaker 1: Any friendly family wagers on with you and your nephew
• 5:06
Speaker 1: Brad playing across the.
• 5:08
Speaker 2: Way, No, we never, we never. We had dinner last
• 5:12
Speaker 2: night over at my brother's house with you know, with
• 5:14
Speaker 2: my mothers in town from Saskatchewan and all that, so
• 5:17
Speaker 2: it was nice and good to see him, you know, playing.
• 5:22
Speaker 2: You know, we'll but no wagers, just we just want
• 5:25
Speaker 2: to win the hockey game. Awesome, all right,
