- 0:06Speaker 1: Hey, it's Mark Simone here, 710WOR. Let's take some calls.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Let's go to Jennifer in Paramus. Jennifer, how are you doing?
- 0:14Speaker 2: Hey, Mark, first-time caller. I just wanted to add to
- 0:18Speaker 2: your story about the guy in the plane. I heard
- 0:20Speaker 2: the guy who was sitting next to him is an
- 0:22Speaker 2: author of a religious book. He had the book out.
- 0:26Speaker 2: It just came out. He did a whole interview, and
- 0:28Speaker 2: the guy did flip out over the religion conversation and
- 0:33Speaker 2: And the fact that he just wrote a book. He
- 0:35Speaker 2: has many books, this guy. I heard him on an interview.
- 0:38Speaker 3: Really?
- 0:38Speaker 1: So when you're sitting on a plane, you don't talk
- 0:41Speaker 1: to the person next to you, do you?
- 0:44Speaker 4: God, no.
- 0:44Speaker 1: No, that's what they make headphones for. They pretend you're
- 0:48Speaker 1: listening to something.
- 0:49Speaker 2: I'd rather sit next to a golden retriever.
- 0:52Speaker 1: Absolutely. And where are you in New Jersey? Oh, Paramus.
- 0:56Speaker 2: Paramus.
- 0:56Speaker 1: All right. Very good, Jennifer. Thanks for calling. Take care.
- 1:00Speaker 1: Let's go to... Let's go to Cynthia in Canada. Cynthia,
- 1:05Speaker 1: how you doing?
- 1:06Speaker 5: Hi, Mark. I'm laughing now. I'm in Canada now. I'm
- 1:12Speaker 5: a New Yorker.
- 1:13Speaker 1: Oh, good. You're not one of those Canadians, are you?
- 1:17Speaker 5: Well, I was born here, but I am now an
- 1:20Speaker 5: American citizen for quite a long time. But I have
- 1:23Speaker 5: to take care of my mom in Canada. Okay, something
- 1:27Speaker 5: really funny. I just received an email from my mom's
- 1:32Speaker 5: bank manager. He ended it with, sincerely, William Chang, he, him.
- 1:42Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, you've got to put your pronouns in there, he, him.
- 1:48Speaker 1: I assume you're a she, her, right?
- 1:52Speaker 5: Well, it was a he, him. William Chang, he, him.
- 1:56Speaker 1: Okay. Yeah, whenever the banker says sincerely, you're a... Sincerely
- 2:01Speaker 1: and banker? Doesn't go together. All right, thanks for calling. Yeah,
- 2:05Speaker 1: these stupid pronouns everywhere. Let's go to Howard in Long Island. Howard,
- 2:09Speaker 1: how are you doing?
- 2:11Speaker 3: Hi, how are you?
- 2:12Speaker 4: Good.
- 2:12Speaker 3: First time caller.
- 2:13Speaker 1: I can tell.
- 2:14Speaker 3: I'll tell you why I'm calling. Yes. You know, you
- 2:16Speaker 3: talk about the Abdul El-Sayed and everything like that. There
- 2:20Speaker 3: is information about his mother, that his mother worked for
- 2:23Speaker 3: fundraising and everything for Al-Qaeda, Hamas, Hezbollah. No one ever
- 2:28Speaker 3: brings that down to the newsrooms, and I don't know why.
- 2:31Speaker 3: I think that's kind of important for someone that could
- 2:34Speaker 3: hold a seat in the Washington, D.C.
- 2:36Speaker 4: Senate.
- 2:36Speaker 1: Very good point. We'll look into it. All right, I'll
- 2:40Speaker 1: look into that. I'll check it out. Let's go to
- 2:45Speaker 1: Teddy in Nutley. Teddy, how are you doing?
- 2:49Speaker 6: I'm doing great. I have a scoop for you on
- 2:53Speaker 6: the guy in the airplane who attacked, okay?
- 2:57Speaker 1: Uh-huh.
- 2:58Speaker 6: The man he attacked was a pastor. A friend of
- 3:01Speaker 6: mine used to attend his services down in the Florida area.
- 3:05Speaker 6: He was on his laptop looking at doing his work.
- 3:10Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 3:11Speaker 6: The man engaged him in a conversation. It was very
- 3:14Speaker 6: pleasant at first. This is right from the pastor himself.
- 3:18Speaker 6: This is from him.
- 3:19Speaker 1: Yeah, so we engaged him. As we just heard, a
- 3:22Speaker 1: pastor who's written books on religion and all that. Listen,
- 3:24Speaker 1: this is what they make headphones for. You ever see, see,
- 3:27Speaker 1: I have these little Apple earbuds, but you ever see
- 3:30Speaker 1: some people buy the big Apple ones, those big, big, big,
- 3:34Speaker 1: big headphones, and you say, well, why would you want
- 3:37Speaker 1: to have those big, heavy headphones? This is what it's for.
- 3:41Speaker 1: for air travel. Put the big ones over your ears
- 3:45Speaker 1: so when anybody looks at you, they know you can't
- 3:47Speaker 1: hear them. They don't even try to talk to you. Perfect.
- 3:51Speaker 1: Let's go to Brad in White Plains. Brad, how you doing?
- 3:55Speaker 7: Morning, Mark. Love the program. I know it's not good
- 3:58Speaker 7: for you, but I'm so happy.
- 3:59Speaker 1: You come on at night.
- 4:03Speaker 7: Real quickly, Miranda Vine's column the other day about the
- 4:06Speaker 7: assassination attempt on Trump in Pennsylvania. Can you give me
- 4:10Speaker 7: your thoughts on how or what kind of cover-up we
- 4:14Speaker 7: got going here? Because they mentioned that a shooter's body
- 4:18Speaker 7: was cremated by somebody anonymously.
- 4:20Speaker 2: Paying for it.
- 4:21Speaker 1: Yeah, the whole thing is very suspicious. Good point, Brad.
- 4:24Speaker 1: You know, whenever there's an assassination, whether it's Lee Harvey Oswald,
- 4:27Speaker 1: from that moment on, all you do is read profiles, articles.
- 4:30Speaker 1: They dig into the background. Here's the history of Lee
- 4:32Speaker 1: Harvey Oswald. Here's his wife, Marina Oswald. Here's an interview
- 4:36Speaker 1: with his mother. There's a 60 Minutes piece. Who is
- 4:39Speaker 1: this guy? This was the first assassination where, shh, no, nothing, nothing.
- 4:45Speaker 1: Nobody wants to look at him. Nobody wants to know
- 4:47Speaker 1: who put him there, where he came from. Trump administration
- 4:52Speaker 1: now going through the FBI hidden files to see what
- 4:55Speaker 1: they can find. There are some FBI files showing the
- 4:58Speaker 1: kid was obviously crazy from birth, totally emotionless, became fascinated
- 5:04Speaker 1: with rifles and guns, trained himself to be a sharpshooter
- 5:09Speaker 1: But the fact that there was no news organization ever
- 5:14Speaker 1: that wanted to look at who the assassin was, wanted
- 5:16Speaker 1: to do anything, investigate anything, fascinating. Go check Miranda Devine's column.
- 5:22Speaker 1: You'll see. Let's go to Vincent in Brooklyn. Vincent, how
- 5:25Speaker 1: are you doing?
- 5:26Speaker 4: Good morning, Mark. Mark, you said the magical words that
- 5:29Speaker 4: the other day it was reported that the kid was
- 5:31Speaker 4: emotionalistic and cried. He made, whoever got to this kid,
- 5:37Speaker 4: he made the perfect Manchurian candidate. Everybody should look at
- 5:41Speaker 4: that movie with Sinatra, if I'm not mistaken. Right, Mark?
- 5:44Speaker 1: Yeah, it's about recruiting some lunatic to be your assassin.
- 5:49Speaker 6: Exactly.
- 5:51Speaker 4: Mark, I heard you speak about the city's latest bonehead
- 5:55Speaker 4: idea of destroying beautiful Park Avenue. Well, given the fact
- 6:00Speaker 4: that so many wealthy people live on Park Avenue, I
- 6:04Speaker 4: hope they pool all their money and get the best
- 6:07Speaker 4: lawyer and sue the city to stop that.
- 6:10Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, but here's the problem. They're doing the section
- 6:13Speaker 1: of Park Avenue where nobody lives. It's all office buildings.
- 6:16Speaker 1: It's all corporations.
- 6:17Speaker 4: Yeah, you have all the homeless people sleeping in the
- 6:20Speaker 4: middle of the median over there. You have every bum
- 6:23Speaker 4: in the city setting up a homeless camp. Oh, yeah,
- 6:25Speaker 4: that's right.
- 6:26Speaker 1: That's right. It'll be a homeless camp.
- 6:28Speaker 4: Mark, you probably heard another boneheaded idea that the transit
- 6:33Speaker 4: authority wants to do. They want to put green spaces
- 6:36Speaker 4: on top of the bus kiosks. in Bedford-Stuyvesant. That's got
- 6:42Speaker 4: to be the dumbest thing in the world because that's
- 6:44Speaker 4: a lawsuit waiting to happen. What happens when a flower
- 6:50Speaker 4: pot or a window box on top of these stupid
- 6:53Speaker 4: kiosks falls down, hits a pedestrian, hits somebody going on
- 6:58Speaker 4: the bus? Gee, or maybe somebody will even go over there, hint, hint, hint,
- 7:03Speaker 4: and feign an accident.
- 7:05Speaker 1: Good point, Vincent. Excellent call. Yeah, excellent. So, yeah, that
- 7:09Speaker 1: part of Park Avenue they want to screw up. It's
- 7:10Speaker 1: all office buildings, all big corporations. Problem is it's tough
- 7:14Speaker 1: for them to sue the city because they need to
- 7:16Speaker 1: do business with the city all the time. Hey, when
- 7:19Speaker 1: we come back, the great entertainment reporter, Roger Friedman, lots
- 7:23Speaker 1: to talk to him about next on 710WOR.
