- 0:00Podcasthero.com. Welcome to The Daily Quote, a
- 0:05podcast designed to kick start your day in a positive way.
- 0:08I'm our host, Andrew McGivern for November 15th.
- 0:11Today is I Love to Write Day, celebrating the act of putting
- 0:15pen to paper and fingers to keyboard and expressing
- 0:17ourselves through words. Founded in 2002 by author John
- 0:21Riddle, this day encourages everyone to write.
- 0:25Not professionally, not perfectly.
- 0:27Just write. Whether it's a journal entry, a
- 0:30letter to a friend, a poem, a story, or random thoughts,
- 0:34writing is for everyone, not just professional writers.
- 0:39What makes this day special is its simplicity.
- 0:41You don't need talent, training, or even a good idea.
- 0:45You just need to start. Write badly.
- 0:47Write honestly. Write whatever comes to mind.
- 0:50The ACT itself is what matters. And that brings us to today's
- 0:54quote from science fiction legend Ray Bradbury, who
- 0:58captured this beautifully when he said you fail only if you
- 1:03stop writing. Bradbury understood that writing
- 1:06isn't about perfection, it's about persistence.
- 1:10Every writer produces terrible first drafts.
- 1:13Every writer has days when the words won't come.
- 1:17Every writer questions whether what they're creating has any
- 1:20value. The difference between someone
- 1:22who writes and someone who doesn't isn't talent, It's
- 1:26whether they keep going. Bradbury wrote something every
- 1:29single day for decades. Not all of it was good, much of
- 1:33it never saw publication. But he kept writing, and in that
- 1:37daily practice he created masterpieces like Fahrenheit 451
- 1:42and The Martian Chronicles. The only real failure is giving
- 1:47up. As long as you keep writing,
- 1:49you're succeeding. So today, write something.
- 1:54Anything. Write a letter to your future
- 1:56self. Write about your day.
- 1:59Write a ridiculous story about your coffee mug gaining
- 2:02sentience. Write three things you're
- 2:06grateful for. Write your frustrations.
- 2:09Write your dreams. Don't edit, don't judge, don't
- 2:13worry about grammar or brilliance.
- 2:16Just write. Because on I Love to Write day,
- 2:20the only rule is Bradbury's rule.
- 2:23Don't stop. Show up.
- 2:25Put words on the page and that's success.
- 2:30That's going to do for today. I'm Andrew McGivern, signing off
- 2:32for now, but I'll be back tomorrow.
- 2:36Same pod time, same pod station with another daily quote.
