- 1:19Speaker 4: we kick it off, and of course some places once
- 1:21Speaker 4: we kick it off, we'll have Roehielosparza coming into four
- 1:24Speaker 4: thirty my book, you dot ag you want to say
- 1:25Speaker 4: thanks to Tyson Robinson and Slat and Shack jumping in
- 1:29Speaker 4: right now, Justin Hunter. He is the offensive coordinator associate
- 1:32Speaker 4: head coach here for the Brandon Bulldogs as he is
- 1:35Speaker 4: doing clean up duty and do coach. You guys do everything?
- 1:38Speaker 4: How are you man?
- 1:39Speaker 5: Just living a dream day by day? Jake?
- 1:40Speaker 4: I appreciate you jumping in. One of the things Rod
- 1:44Speaker 4: told me, he said with Missisippi Sports Medicine, he said,
- 1:47Speaker 4: is it just me or does Tyson look different this
- 1:50Speaker 4: year in a better way? I mean, he's always looked good.
- 1:54Speaker 4: I said, he looks like a big ten running back.
- 1:56Speaker 4: I mean, I don't know what you guys have been doing,
- 1:57Speaker 4: but men, your kids look real good right now.
- 1:59Speaker 5: Yeah, No, he does.
- 2:00Speaker 6: Or he works hard in the weight room obviously you know,
- 2:03Speaker 6: really good trainer who takes care of of him, you know,
- 2:05Speaker 6: and Tyson is one of those, no matter how long
- 2:07Speaker 6: it is at practice or whatever, he's gonna go get
- 2:09Speaker 6: treatment afterwards and just make sure he's taking care of
- 2:11Speaker 6: his body. I mean, he understands, you know that that's
- 2:13Speaker 6: a big part of it.
- 2:14Speaker 5: You know.
- 2:14Speaker 6: I'm sure they've told him about all that when he
- 2:16Speaker 6: was up at Michigan and looked into all that. But
- 2:18Speaker 6: he's one of those that definitely takes care of his body,
- 2:20Speaker 6: not just when he's with us, but twenty four to seven.
- 2:23Speaker 5: And as a result, you see how he looks right now.
- 2:25Speaker 4: Absolutely how important has that become. I mean, you know
- 2:28Speaker 4: that's obviously has been in the NFL for a long time.
- 2:31Speaker 4: Colleges are doing it, but now high school athletes. For
- 2:34Speaker 4: the guys to obviously you want him to practice well,
- 2:36Speaker 4: to work out well, but then to take time after practice.
- 2:39Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, I mean I think it's huge. And Steve,
- 2:41Speaker 6: you know, the trainer here, does a really really phenomenal job.
- 2:44Speaker 6: You know, he makes sure they are not doing what
- 2:46Speaker 6: they're not supposed to be doing as far as coming
- 2:48Speaker 6: to seeing him when we're you know, film or wage
- 2:50Speaker 6: or something, but just as soon as after he stays
- 2:51Speaker 6: as long as they need, you know, they can get
- 2:53Speaker 6: there early and see him, and he has a great
- 2:56Speaker 6: room in there. To set up with anything they could
- 2:57Speaker 6: possibly need. And man, I think he does a phenomenal job.
- 3:00Speaker 6: I think he's top notch.
- 3:01Speaker 4: How obviously spring we talked to you with the Mississippi
- 3:04Speaker 4: Coaches Association Clinic. How has the summer been for you guys?
- 3:07Speaker 5: Man, it's been great. That's great. I think everybody's ready
- 3:09Speaker 5: for to get here. You're just that time.
- 3:10Speaker 6: You know, you're finishing week two of fall camp, you know,
- 3:13Speaker 6: and we actually talked about Warren Central little bit while
- 3:16Speaker 6: to go and a walk through deal because you know,
- 3:17Speaker 6: it's a little too hot to get out today and
- 3:19Speaker 6: we tried it, but it hit us pretty hard. So
- 3:21Speaker 6: when they're kind of introduce some more in Central stuff
- 3:23Speaker 6: and obviously know they're a handful had some really good
- 3:26Speaker 6: battles with with coach Morgan when it was on a
- 3:27Speaker 6: fun earlier talking about that. Just have there's been some
- 3:29Speaker 6: good games and all that. Just hey, this is what
- 3:32Speaker 6: we're going to do in a jambure This is what
- 3:33Speaker 6: y'all gonna do in a jamburee, and just try to
- 3:35Speaker 6: get out there and compete a little bit and stay
- 3:37Speaker 6: healthy for a week.
- 3:38Speaker 4: One his goal, Yeah, what do you look for in
- 3:40Speaker 4: a jamboree. I mean, obviously you don't show your whole
- 3:42Speaker 4: package on offense or defense, but what's you know, kind
- 3:45Speaker 4: of what do you want to see happening in the
- 3:47Speaker 4: goals of those Yeah?
- 3:48Speaker 6: Yeah, I told till the office the day. You know,
- 3:50Speaker 6: I think I didn't tell them this, but I told
- 3:52Speaker 6: them we need to what we wanted to see as
- 3:54Speaker 6: could we be the more physical football team? You know,
- 3:57Speaker 6: how could we get going as sustain drives and finished
- 3:59Speaker 6: foot point pints every time, you.
- 4:01Speaker 4: Know, and start really fast on first down.
- 4:03Speaker 6: The thing I didn't tell them that, you know, us
- 4:04Speaker 6: as coaches want to see is these kids that you know,
- 4:07Speaker 6: maybe this is their first year playing varsity football. You know,
- 4:11Speaker 6: like a like a Tommy Brumfield, who's a tenth grade
- 4:13Speaker 6: receiver with all the talent in the world, Like, how's
- 4:15Speaker 6: he going to do in the bright lights?
- 4:16Speaker 1: You know?
- 4:17Speaker 6: The two offensive linemen that weren't starters last year, how
- 4:19Speaker 6: are they gonna perform?
- 4:20Speaker 7: You know?
- 4:20Speaker 5: We got a h back Wilkes Wallace, who we love.
- 4:22Speaker 5: How's he going? You know what I'm saying. Just the
- 4:24Speaker 5: guys that we hadn't seen the tape.
- 4:25Speaker 6: We've seen tape on Tyson We've seen tape on sleeve,
- 4:28Speaker 6: We've seen tape on Tallon Harvey, Carter Smith, you know
- 4:30Speaker 6: those guys.
- 4:31Speaker 5: But just what about those other guys? Are they ready?
- 4:34Speaker 5: Can they do it? Do we need to get a
- 4:35Speaker 5: backup playing all that kind of stuff?
- 4:36Speaker 6: You know? I think that's I think that's our big thing,
- 4:39Speaker 6: just playing somebody other than ourselves. Visiting with Justin Hunter,
- 4:42Speaker 6: offensive coordinator at Brandon associate head coach Thursday edition of
- 4:45Speaker 6: your program, people have asked, what is this Brandon offense
- 4:50Speaker 6: gonna look like under Justin Hunter?
- 4:51Speaker 1: Now?
- 4:52Speaker 4: I know you from just football obviously, and we've got
- 4:56Speaker 4: I think a great relationship. I know what you've done
- 4:58Speaker 4: in the past. You've put points on the board. I
- 5:00Speaker 4: was over there visit with a Clinton. We were Clinton
- 5:03Speaker 4: a couple of weeks ago, and Hammer Morgan told me
- 5:06Speaker 4: off the air, he said, uh, man, y'all got a
- 5:08Speaker 4: good coach over there. He said, he knows offensive football.
- 5:11Speaker 4: What does printed his offense look like on a Justin Hunter?
- 5:14Speaker 6: I just want us to be I want us to
- 5:16Speaker 6: be efficient. You know, I think it's it's probably the
- 5:18Speaker 6: first word, you know, Uh, talk to him all the time.
- 5:20Speaker 6: We got to be great on first down. You know,
- 5:22Speaker 6: we want to play with with with pretty good tempo,
- 5:24Speaker 6: but you can't play with tempo if you're going three
- 5:25Speaker 6: and out. So we're gonna spend a lot of focus
- 5:28Speaker 6: on first down. Uh, We're gonna try to do what
- 5:29Speaker 6: our players do best.
- 5:30Speaker 5: You know. Obviously you got Tyson and Kingston that we
- 5:34Speaker 5: feel pretty good about. We got shocked that.
- 5:37Speaker 8: You know.
- 5:37Speaker 6: I just love him from maturity and a leadership standpoint. Man,
- 5:40Speaker 6: just a great, great, great kid.
- 5:42Speaker 1: Man.
- 5:42Speaker 6: I'm just I'm just wowed by him every day just
- 5:44Speaker 6: being around him. And not to mention JB get our
- 5:47Speaker 6: next guy line man. Just two kids that you know,
- 5:50Speaker 6: I mean, it is what it is when you have
- 5:52Speaker 6: a play caller and a quarterback. They got to have
- 5:54Speaker 6: a special relationship. Man and I and I I feel
- 5:57Speaker 6: like we are we have that, you know, great great kids.
- 6:01Speaker 6: But again, just be efficient. You know, we can't have
- 6:04Speaker 6: bad penalties and we can't turn the football over, and
- 6:06Speaker 6: we got to finish drives with a kick, preferably an
- 6:08Speaker 6: extra point. You know, but if we have to pump,
- 6:11Speaker 6: we have to pump. We just can't turn the football over.
- 6:13Speaker 6: We can't put our defense in a mind. But we
- 6:15Speaker 6: want to go as fast as we can possibly go,
- 6:18Speaker 6: but again, we can't do that if we're not efficient,
- 6:20Speaker 6: especially on first down.
- 6:21Speaker 4: Yeah, Slayton was referencing. He said, the biggest difference is
- 6:24Speaker 4: the playbook has gotten thicker this year. So obviously, but
- 6:27Speaker 4: how do you know, you could be the best offensive
- 6:30Speaker 4: coordinator or offensive mind in the world, right, regardless of football,
- 6:33Speaker 4: but getting it to what your kids can actually digest
- 6:37Speaker 4: and perform, you know, consistently on the field, correct, right, right.
- 6:41Speaker 6: I think a big benefit we've had is just doing
- 6:43Speaker 6: the morning practices. You know, we go five to forty
- 6:45Speaker 6: five in the morning, we practice, and then they go
- 6:48Speaker 6: shy or we shower, go to school, and then the
- 6:50Speaker 6: last block we get them and we've already watched that film.
- 6:53Speaker 6: We have notes on that film, so we're either walked
- 6:55Speaker 6: through and film or both or whatever. So it's happening
- 6:58Speaker 6: pretty quick as far as hey, this is what it
- 7:00Speaker 6: looked like, this is what we've got, this is what
- 7:01Speaker 6: we did good. This we got to work on, and
- 7:03Speaker 6: then off of that, then you got the next morning script.
- 7:06Speaker 6: So it's just I don't want to say it's like
- 7:07Speaker 6: a college camp, but that's kind of how it's being
- 7:09Speaker 6: in a nutshell, you know. And I think that's I
- 7:12Speaker 6: think that's very beneficial because they're not having to practice
- 7:14Speaker 6: at three, get done at five, and then wait till
- 7:16Speaker 6: the next afternoon. They're getting it pretty quick as far
- 7:18Speaker 6: as feedback and stuff goes. And I think I think
- 7:20Speaker 6: we're picking up on it really really quick. I don't
- 7:22Speaker 6: feel like it's a lot, you know. I feel like it's, uh,
- 7:25Speaker 6: we're throwing a lot of stuff at them. But obviously,
- 7:26Speaker 6: week to week we're not gonna do all that type thing.
- 7:28Speaker 6: But just with the way things are now, with when
- 7:30Speaker 6: you get the summers and then you get these two weeks,
- 7:32Speaker 6: I mean, you've got a lot of time to practice football,
- 7:35Speaker 6: you know. So let's just see what they can do
- 7:36Speaker 6: and what they can't do, and then what we like
- 7:38Speaker 6: we'll keep, and what we don't we.
- 7:39Speaker 4: Want, you know. And it sounds like what you guys
- 7:41Speaker 4: are doing. I haven't heard a lot of schools talk
- 7:43Speaker 4: doing about doing it that way. But it sounds like
- 7:45Speaker 4: a modified to two days of sorts, uh kind of
- 7:50Speaker 4: maybe maybe you know, I say modify it, right, yeah,
- 7:53Speaker 4: but to make sure we say modified, yeah, absolutely absolutely.
- 7:56Speaker 4: Look I'm old enough to remember teams used to do
- 7:57Speaker 4: three days, right. I mean you know you you would
- 8:00Speaker 4: go a Saturday sometimes and you would go morning, you
- 8:03Speaker 4: would go after lunch, and then you'd come back under
- 8:05Speaker 4: the light.
- 8:05Speaker 5: Man and they might put us under the jail. And
- 8:07Speaker 5: we're trying to do that now.
- 8:08Speaker 4: Can't do that, right, can't do that. Visit with Justin Hunter.
- 8:11Speaker 4: He is the officsive coordinator here at Brandon. Thursday edition
- 8:13Speaker 4: of the program, One more question, we'll get you on
- 8:15Speaker 4: your way. How's it been here for you? I know
- 8:17Speaker 4: there's a lot of expectations people excited about you being here.
- 8:20Speaker 6: Well, I appreciate that, I really do. And you know,
- 8:22Speaker 6: we're we're a family that's all in with Brandon right now.
- 8:25Speaker 6: My wife's up there teaching algebra. My daughter is playing
- 8:29Speaker 6: junior high volleyball and junior varsity softball at the boys
- 8:32Speaker 6: in the fourth grade.
- 8:33Speaker 5: And he's telling me about new friends he's making every day.
- 8:35Speaker 5: You know, we was.
- 8:36Speaker 6: Watching volleyball last night here against Madison. Shout out to
- 8:39Speaker 6: the baby Dogs with a big win. Monday night, we
- 8:41Speaker 6: was in Clinton watching volleyball. Was able to beat Clinton.
- 8:44Speaker 6: You know, just was watching the lives from My little
- 8:47Speaker 6: boy had a baseball practice Tuesday, so we wasn't here
- 8:49Speaker 6: to watch the varsity volleyball team.
- 8:51Speaker 5: Was keeping up with my phone, you know.
- 8:52Speaker 6: So I mean it's just, you know, we're just kind
- 8:54Speaker 6: of all in right now, you know, and we're a
- 8:56Speaker 6: family that everywhere ever being we wanted to be all in,
- 8:58Speaker 6: just be big community and and everything.
- 9:00Speaker 5: But we're enjoying every second of it. Man, just can't
- 9:02Speaker 5: wait for Friday nights.
- 9:03Speaker 4: And that volleyball's fun too, it oh man, Yeah they're
- 9:05Speaker 4: pretty good too. Yeah, good how they are? Justin Hunter
- 9:08Speaker 4: on your radio, Coach, thank you so much. I appreciate

- 9:33Speaker 8: Have compassionate people as a part of our family's health journey.
- 9:37Speaker 9: You kind of learn your body at a young age,
- 9:39Speaker 9: and if you want to perform at the best, your
- 9:41Speaker 9: body has to be at the best as well. At
- 9:42Speaker 9: the end of the day, it's my body before a game,

- 10:50Speaker 4: head football coach and athletics director here at Brandon on
- 10:53Speaker 4: your radio, at his Bulldog day on your radio. Coach Clinton,
- 10:55Speaker 4: great to see you, sir. How are you, man? I
- 10:57Speaker 4: am wonderful man. Just living the life. Man, I tell
- 11:00Speaker 4: you what. It's it's hot, but it's fun. This is
- 11:04Speaker 4: the greatest time of year in it.
- 11:05Speaker 1: Man.
- 11:05Speaker 10: You couldn't ask for anything better. Man, football is about
- 11:08Speaker 10: to start. We out here looking at the band working
- 11:11Speaker 10: on the field. You know, it's ninety nine degrees out
- 11:15Speaker 10: there and you're practicing early in the morning. So it's
- 11:19Speaker 10: a great thing.
- 11:19Speaker 3: Man.
- 11:20Speaker 4: Yeah, it's interesting to see how everybody kind of handles
- 11:23Speaker 4: the heat. We were Germantown earlier this week. They were
- 11:25Speaker 4: going at seven at night. You guys are doing everything
- 11:28Speaker 4: what five thirty in the morning.
- 11:30Speaker 10: Yes, sir, five thirty five forty five. We're getting the
- 11:33Speaker 10: guys in here, you know, getting them, you know, running
- 11:35Speaker 10: through the workouts and you know, getting it done. I
- 11:39Speaker 10: think it's best. You know, it teaches discipline as well.
- 11:41Speaker 10: You can get up there early. You know, you get here,
- 11:44Speaker 10: you're ready to go. You gotta focus, you gotta be disciplined.
- 11:48Speaker 4: Did you have any any you know, late entries to
- 11:51Speaker 4: practice early? Maybe some discipline going on with.
- 11:53Speaker 8: That early.
- 11:55Speaker 4: This stadium deters that. You know, what you're saying is
- 12:00Speaker 4: that you come in here late, you're running the stadium.
- 12:03Speaker 10: You said that.
- 12:04Speaker 4: That's right, that's right, that's right. No, that's absolutely right.
- 12:07Speaker 4: I mean if I knew I was going to be
- 12:08Speaker 4: late and then I had to run the stadium. Which
- 12:10Speaker 4: you know, what's interesting is all your stadiums now Bulldog
- 12:13Speaker 4: Stadium is one of them. Two is uh, the home
- 12:15Speaker 4: signs are pretty elevated now. So take us through what
- 12:18Speaker 4: the last two weeks. Coach Hunter, you know, said, you
- 12:20Speaker 4: guys have been obviously getting after it. We'll be visiting
- 12:23Speaker 4: with Michael Turner here later on the program. You're a
- 12:25Speaker 4: defensive coordinator. Take us to what the last few weeks
- 12:27Speaker 4: been like.
- 12:28Speaker 10: The last few weeks, just the learning process, you know,
- 12:31Speaker 10: building team building, you know, camaraderie, building a fellowship with
- 12:35Speaker 10: each other, as well as teaching young men. Like I said, discipline, structure.
- 12:41Speaker 10: Understanding football is more than just the exes and o's,
- 12:46Speaker 10: and so it has a lot to do with everyday
- 12:48Speaker 10: life being disciplined when you need to. And we've been
- 12:52Speaker 10: doing that. That's it's a process. We've been learning and
- 12:56Speaker 10: continuing to grow.
- 12:57Speaker 4: You know, it's interesting to hear you say that, and
- 12:59Speaker 4: of course you and I know each other almost twenty
- 13:01Speaker 4: five years now. It's hard to believe. But Chris Jones,
- 13:03Speaker 4: who we do Hines football here as well, he talks
- 13:07Speaker 4: a lot about that and he you know, it's not
- 13:11Speaker 4: lip service. I mean, Chris is you know, he's a
- 13:13Speaker 4: big you know, camaraderie guy. He's a big culture guy,
- 13:17Speaker 4: and you know culture gets thrown around a lot that
- 13:19Speaker 4: that time. But if you talk to him and then
- 13:22Speaker 4: you go watch him. We were at Heines the other day.
- 13:24Speaker 4: They are lockstep in that, in that kind in unison
- 13:29Speaker 4: and culture, and he says the same thing. Hey, look,
- 13:32Speaker 4: yeah we want to win. Yeah, ex's and o's are
- 13:34Speaker 4: going to come together. But it's way way more building
- 13:37Speaker 4: this team than what we do out there on Thursdays
- 13:39Speaker 4: or Fridays or Saturdays exactly.
- 13:41Speaker 10: You know, anytime I see Chris at a function or something,
- 13:45Speaker 10: I'm always in his ear, you know, just trying to
- 13:47Speaker 10: hear what he has to say, you know, get some
- 13:50Speaker 10: insight from him, because I admire a young man. He's
- 13:53Speaker 10: done a great job and he's built himself up and
- 13:56Speaker 10: what he has and what he does, you know, represents that.
- 14:00Speaker 10: I want to represent discipline, structure, you know, camaraderie, teamwork,
- 14:05Speaker 10: dedication to the craft. And if I can get that
- 14:09Speaker 10: done done, I think we'll be doing the great job here.
- 14:12Speaker 4: Visit with Eugene Clinton had football coach athletics director Brandon
- 14:14Speaker 4: Bulldog's on your radio Thursday edition of the program. We
- 14:17Speaker 4: had Tyson Robinson and Slayton and Shocky in earlier talk
- 14:20Speaker 4: a little bit about what those two men. You know,
- 14:23Speaker 4: what you've seen out of them now is this is
- 14:24Speaker 4: their last run here?
- 14:26Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 14:26Speaker 10: Man, those two young men are. This program loves them,
- 14:32Speaker 10: you know, this community loves them, this school loves them.
- 14:36Speaker 10: Slayton shack Man a leader, A leader. He's out here.
- 14:40Speaker 10: He's the first one out here. When I'm out here
- 14:42Speaker 10: walking in the stadium, he's the first one out here
- 14:45Speaker 10: and he runs his lap, gets set working on warming
- 14:49Speaker 10: up his arm before anybody else does, you know. And
- 14:51Speaker 10: that's what the leader does. The leader leads by example.
- 14:54Speaker 10: He sets the example of getting out here, being first.
- 14:57Speaker 10: You know, Tyson Robinson being more vocal, man, you know,
- 15:01Speaker 10: he's being more vocal. Hey guys, let's go, Hey, Hey,
- 15:04Speaker 10: let's let's make sure we make these blocks. Let's make
- 15:06Speaker 10: sure we're tackling when we're supposed to, Let's make sure
- 15:08Speaker 10: we sit in the edges. I mean, he's he's learning,
- 15:11Speaker 10: he's learned in the game on both sides, and that
- 15:15Speaker 10: that just states exactly how dedicated he is to this
- 15:18Speaker 10: craft as well.
- 15:19Speaker 4: You know, it's it's interesting because talking to both of
- 15:22Speaker 4: those young men about it is and you know this,
- 15:24Speaker 4: you you played your whole life, You've been around this game,
- 15:26Speaker 4: your whole life. Is every year a senior class, some
- 15:30Speaker 4: are really good leaders. Then you get some years room
- 15:33Speaker 4: maybe they're not as good as leaders. And you know,
- 15:35Speaker 4: they both kind of spoke of, hey, what we learned
- 15:38Speaker 4: last year, and I don't want to speak directly for them,
- 15:40Speaker 4: I'm paraphrasing, is we've got to do a better job leading.
- 15:43Speaker 4: And I think that's they're showing that that, hey, now
- 15:46Speaker 4: it's their turn. They want to make sure that you know,
- 15:49Speaker 4: they're not doing it the wrong.
- 15:50Speaker 10: Way exactly exactly. You know, I always tell them, you know, hey,
- 15:54Speaker 10: I can't want it more than you do. You know,
- 15:57Speaker 10: you have to want it as a as a senior,
- 15:59Speaker 10: as a leader, as someone that the community looks up
- 16:02Speaker 10: to and I mean, you know, these little kids look
- 16:05Speaker 10: up to you, so you have to want it more
- 16:06Speaker 10: than we do. And you show that by coming out
- 16:09Speaker 10: here every day dedicating to yourself to hard work, discipline
- 16:13Speaker 10: and you know, structure.
- 16:15Speaker 4: Let me ask you this with you know, next week,
- 16:18Speaker 4: I obviously Warren Sitchral comes in. So you guys are about
- 16:21Speaker 4: to flip if you haven't already kind of the way
- 16:23Speaker 4: you do practice mean, and you're getting close to Hey,
- 16:25Speaker 4: we've got to prepare for another jersey, which the guys
- 16:27Speaker 4: aren't gonna mind that, right right, I mean, you're you're
- 16:29Speaker 4: kind of past the time now where you're tired of
- 16:30Speaker 4: seeing the same you know, red and black jerseys. You're
- 16:32Speaker 4: ready to see another jersey. When you look at this team,
- 16:36Speaker 4: what do you like? And then where do you say?
- 16:37Speaker 1: Hey?
- 16:38Speaker 4: We still and you you're never not evolving, but you say, hey,
- 16:41Speaker 4: today I like this, but we still got to go here?
- 16:44Speaker 10: What is that today? I like the direction that we're going.
- 16:47Speaker 10: I like I like our focus. You know, we we
- 16:50Speaker 10: hadn't got there yet and it's going to take a
- 16:52Speaker 10: little time, but I like our focus. I like I
- 16:55Speaker 10: like our dedication to to wanting to our will to
- 16:59Speaker 10: you know, continue to push on regardless of the situation.
- 17:03Speaker 10: You know, like I said, it takes a lot from
- 17:06Speaker 10: parents and kids to get up. If I be here
- 17:09Speaker 10: and start practice at five forty five, right, not get
- 17:12Speaker 10: here at five forty five, but to start practice at
- 17:14Speaker 10: five forty five. You know, that's dedication. And if you're
- 17:18Speaker 10: willing to do that, you're showing your efforts. You're showing
- 17:21Speaker 10: your your grit and your want to. And that's what
- 17:25Speaker 10: we're looking for. That shows that we're going in the
- 17:27Speaker 10: right direction, because, like I said, football is more than
- 17:30Speaker 10: just excell and the os. It has to deal with life.
- 17:34Speaker 4: So we got a couple of minutes left here with
- 17:36Speaker 4: Eugene Clinton. He's the head football coach here in athletics
- 17:38Speaker 4: director Brandon. You know, you were thrust into this job,
- 17:43Speaker 4: and I've said this on a different scale, kind of
- 17:45Speaker 4: like Pete Golden was at Ovis right. Change you jumped
- 17:49Speaker 4: in we got to win a ball to get to
- 17:50Speaker 4: the playoffs. Then oh, by the way, we got to win,
- 17:52Speaker 4: you know, and went on a run to South State.
- 17:55Speaker 4: How has that helped you become who you are even today?
- 17:59Speaker 4: On just a short window, because you know, if we
- 18:01Speaker 4: were sitting here talking last year, you weren't expected to
- 18:04Speaker 4: be a head coach. Now obviously you are the coach.
- 18:07Speaker 4: How how did that situation maybe help you to where
- 18:10Speaker 4: you even are today?
- 18:11Speaker 10: It gave me a quick insight on on what to
- 18:15Speaker 10: expect things that will pop up. You know, as first
- 18:19Speaker 10: time head coach, you really don't know what to look for. Well,
- 18:22Speaker 10: now I kind of have an idea of what I'm
- 18:24Speaker 10: looking for, what I'm what I expect, How to talk
- 18:26Speaker 10: to the refs, you know, how to manage my team
- 18:29Speaker 10: on the sideline, how to communicate about a coach We're
- 18:34Speaker 10: coming your way. Do you guys have an officer that
- 18:36Speaker 10: they'll meet us at the stop light so we can
- 18:38Speaker 10: come through track. Yeah, all those little things and they
- 18:42Speaker 10: make a difference. And so now I'm understanding and learning
- 18:45Speaker 10: a little bit more on how to deal with certain
- 18:47Speaker 10: things of that aspect.
- 18:48Speaker 4: And of course, you know, knowing who you are and
- 18:51Speaker 4: people that know you coming from you know, ground up,
- 18:54Speaker 4: growing up in someone I believe you told me your
- 18:56Speaker 4: stepfather military kind of a military family. Play for Willie
- 19:00Speaker 4: Collins Provine, Jackie Chryl's early done. You've talked about structure.
- 19:05Speaker 4: You come from structure. You're starting to see that in
- 19:09Speaker 4: your guys too, because teams become who they coach are
- 19:12Speaker 4: and they're becoming as you said, you like our direction today,
- 19:16Speaker 4: they're becoming.
- 19:16Speaker 10: That like, Yes, I love the direction that we're going.
- 19:20Speaker 10: You know, I asks two great coaches to come in.
- 19:23Speaker 10: I think, you know, Justin Hunter and Michael Turner both
- 19:26Speaker 10: have great expectations, great minds. You know, their skill set
- 19:31Speaker 10: is as wonderful that what they do, and I think
- 19:34Speaker 10: they fit well with this program. I think the other
- 19:37Speaker 10: coaches that I have, you know, continue to grow and
- 19:40Speaker 10: continue to push the young men to be better, stronger,
- 19:43Speaker 10: and faster. So that's what That's what I think helps.
- 19:47Speaker 4: Eug and Clinton. He's the head football coach and athletics
- 19:49Speaker 4: director Brandon is meet the Dog's Day for all the
- 19:52Speaker 4: sports here today. They'll have a little scrimmage tonight and
- 19:54Speaker 4: then of course turn the page into a preseason week
- 19:57Speaker 4: next week. Coach, Thank you so much. I appreciate your
- 19:59Speaker 4: time today. Thank you, Jake, I appreciate you. Appreciate it.
- 20:02Speaker 4: Riphylsparzap my bookie dot Eg he'll join us next back
- 20:04Speaker 4: in a bit.
- 20:05Speaker 3: Turning into sports Waitimberley on the afternoon Drive.
- 20:08Speaker 1: One of the last pure pleasures I have left in
- 20:10Speaker 1: my life. Yeah, maybe you ought to get a life first.
- 20:13Speaker 3: Okay, us in one o five point nine in his
- 20:15Speaker 3: own and on line in his own one o five
- 20:18Speaker 3: nine dot com take.
- 21:10Speaker 4: Me through Thursday, Roll to you by my book, he
- 21:13Speaker 4: dot ag Rafaela Sparsa kind of enough to give us
- 21:15Speaker 4: some time? Who's got a jam pack schedule on your radio? Sparsa?
- 21:20Speaker 4: Are you able to breathe this time of year with
- 21:23Speaker 4: everybody getting ready for football?
- 21:26Speaker 7: At that time of year? It's preseason? I mean, I mean,
- 21:28Speaker 7: I love how everyone's jones in about preseason. I can't
- 21:31Speaker 7: believe I heard all day today about it. I can't
- 21:33Speaker 7: believe beck is not playing for Arizona. He's the MVP candidate.
- 21:37Speaker 7: Has he not playing because he's the only quarterback They
- 21:39Speaker 7: had a good game so far? But it is what
- 21:42Speaker 7: it is. Football is King. I always have to accept
- 21:44Speaker 7: it this time of year. But I mean, it's preseason people.
- 21:48Speaker 4: Well, I mean, go wait a minute now, You're not
- 21:49Speaker 4: anti football though, right.
- 21:53Speaker 7: No, I'm not anti football. I'm just anti how we
- 21:57Speaker 7: make it King of all kings, you know me? I
- 21:59Speaker 7: don't don't believe that we should have uh three hundred
- 22:04Speaker 7: and sixty five day NFL show and we have ten
- 22:07Speaker 7: days of the draft combine stuff all over to you.
- 22:11Speaker 7: I mean it's just I mean, come out of people.
- 22:12Speaker 7: It's overkilling.
- 22:13Speaker 4: Well that but that's that's the NFL monetization machine though, right,
- 22:16Speaker 4: I mean that's why they're doing that. I mean it's yes,
- 22:19Speaker 4: it's necessary, you have to have the draft and stuff.
- 22:21Speaker 4: But for the NFL, I mean it's how can we
- 22:23Speaker 4: I say we they how can they turn another dollar?
- 22:26Speaker 4: Because the general public will spend it? Correct?
- 22:29Speaker 7: Correct? But I mean, you know me, I'll take college
- 22:33Speaker 7: football any day of the week in the NFL.
- 22:37Speaker 4: Speaking of college football, let's look at you know, the
- 22:39Speaker 4: AP poll should be out sometime this weekend. I know
- 22:42Speaker 4: it's a preseason poll, and you know, I agree with
- 22:45Speaker 4: We were talking junior college football with one of our
- 22:49Speaker 4: local teams here earlier this week and their athletic directors
- 22:53Speaker 4: that I don't know how we have a preseason poll
- 22:54Speaker 4: when all these teams change over same way with the
- 22:56Speaker 4: with the college ranks. I mean, the teams are are
- 22:59Speaker 4: you know, all different, But when you look at the
- 23:02Speaker 4: players and I'm gonna go buy uh, you know this
- 23:05Speaker 4: this shop I'm looking at here pin Gaming. We can
- 23:07Speaker 4: look at my bookie. I think they're all pretty similar.
- 23:09Speaker 4: Notre Dame, Ohio State at the top along with Texas.
- 23:12Speaker 4: These are national Championship odds Indiana, Oregon, Georgia, Miami, Texas Tech.
- 23:18Speaker 4: It feels like this field might be the most exciting
- 23:21Speaker 4: field that we've seen in a number of years. I
- 23:23Speaker 4: don't know if that's because of the transfer portal, because
- 23:25Speaker 4: the money going into these teams, But I don't know
- 23:28Speaker 4: that one team is better far and away better than
- 23:30Speaker 4: the other, is it?
- 23:33Speaker 8: Well?
- 23:33Speaker 7: I mean, I think some of the top teams have
- 23:36Speaker 7: that the guy that the reason why we're talking about them,
- 23:39Speaker 7: I'm talking okay, Texas has a manning. Oregon's always going
- 23:43Speaker 7: to be up to because their speed. Ohio State is
- 23:46Speaker 7: always going to be up to because who they recruit
- 23:48Speaker 7: and who they pay for the same thing with a
- 23:49Speaker 7: lot of the SEC teams Georgia, LSU, Alabama. Of course,
- 23:53Speaker 7: we're going to talk about those teams, and we're gonna
- 23:56Speaker 7: talk about those teams every year, even if they did
- 23:59Speaker 7: not project it to be. Let's see the national champion
- 24:02Speaker 7: We're always gonna mention as well, but I mean we were.
- 24:05Speaker 7: Indiana is still up there. I think the you is
- 24:08Speaker 7: going to be up there. I feel back for Florida,
- 24:10Speaker 7: the Gators. I think my I think Florida now is
- 24:13Speaker 7: a youth football a state unless for some reasoned the
- 24:18Speaker 7: Gators can turn things around. I love what Miami the
- 24:20Speaker 7: Hurricanes are doing right now. So there's teams in there.
- 24:23Speaker 7: We haven't seen Texas Tech up there in football, but
- 24:26Speaker 7: they're spending a lot of money right now. So I
- 24:29Speaker 7: like the teams that I look up there and I'm like, wow,
- 24:31Speaker 7: we haven't seen those teams in football in college football.
- 24:34Speaker 4: For a while. Does it feel like, you know, we
- 24:37Speaker 4: sometimes overblow this and more so in the NFL with
- 24:39Speaker 4: quarterbacks every year it's so well, this class is going
- 24:41Speaker 4: to be the best quarterbacks class. That's eighty three always
- 24:44Speaker 4: reference eighty three is kind of ground zero this year though.
- 24:48Speaker 4: I mean, when you look at college football quarterback situations
- 24:51Speaker 4: at Notre Dame, Ohio, State, Texas, potentially Indiana, Oregon, Georgia, Ole,
- 24:56Speaker 4: mess and you can I mean, there's there's other quarterbacks
- 24:59Speaker 4: you see. It feels like this is a true year
- 25:03Speaker 4: of the quarterback in college football, some really good ones.
- 25:07Speaker 7: Well, it's really not that hard to say this is
- 25:10Speaker 7: a top quarterback class because what the class we just
- 25:12Speaker 7: went through. But I thought it was one of the
- 25:14Speaker 7: worst classes. I mean, just the top two with the
- 25:18Speaker 7: Manning More Sellers. There's a lot of interesting names, but
- 25:24Speaker 7: that's gonna be up there. But I still think this
- 25:28Speaker 7: draft class we went we went to could be one
- 25:30Speaker 7: of the worst classes, at least for some reason. Mendoza,
- 25:33Speaker 7: let's say pulls a rabbit up his hat and he's
- 25:36Speaker 7: the real deal and he puts the Raiders on the map,
- 25:40Speaker 7: then I think that could change. I think one of
- 25:42Speaker 7: these quarterbacks needs to put their team on their back
- 25:45Speaker 7: and put them in the playoffs. I just don't see
- 25:47Speaker 7: any of those quarterbacks that got drafted to do that.
- 25:49Speaker 4: Raphaelos Spars and my bookie dot Ag get in and
- 25:51Speaker 4: play today as you move forward through this year. All right,
- 25:55Speaker 4: So if we're talking value for national championship picks, and
- 25:58Speaker 4: you know, we talk about value pick, that's a for
- 26:00Speaker 4: those that don't sports game a whole lot. We're talking
- 26:03Speaker 4: you know, what can you pick and then get them
- 26:05Speaker 4: or turning your money in Texas A and M eighteen
- 26:07Speaker 4: to one, Texas Tech sixteen to one, BAMA maybe at
- 26:10Speaker 4: twenty to one, or LSU. Where's your value one or
- 26:13Speaker 4: two that you're looking at right now.
- 26:16Speaker 7: I'll take Texas Tech over A and M. Just the
- 26:19Speaker 7: amount of money they are throwing at the football program,
- 26:23Speaker 7: the quarterbacks that they've been able to provide their offense
- 26:27Speaker 7: in there. So I'll take the Texas Tech, which you
- 26:29Speaker 7: can get anywhere between. I think I've seen them as
- 26:31Speaker 7: high as twenty five to one. Texas Tech up there,
- 26:36Speaker 7: Ole missed there's another one. I know, people, I hope
- 26:39Speaker 7: I'm saying, I hopefull you guys are sitting down. I
- 26:41Speaker 7: did mention an SEC team, but Old Miss. I mean
- 26:44Speaker 7: every only wants to talk about Georgia, but I like
- 26:48Speaker 7: Old Miss. They're chipping their shoulder. Everyone wants to talk
- 26:50Speaker 7: about Kiffin and LSU. But Ole Miss can be one
- 26:53Speaker 7: of those teams that can shock everybody. And I'll throw
- 26:59Speaker 7: I'll throw a rink out there. BYU. I mean they're
- 27:03Speaker 7: a quiet team. We saw them their success last year.
- 27:06Speaker 7: They have a lot of starters coming back on defense.
- 27:09Speaker 7: I mean, I think there are anywhere between ninety to
- 27:11Speaker 7: one to one hundred and one. I'm not saying, oh,
- 27:13Speaker 7: double mortgage your house or ask your wife for a
- 27:16Speaker 7: double allowance so you can put BYU, but they could
- 27:19Speaker 7: be up there just to put them in the mix
- 27:21Speaker 7: where you can hedge off that ticket.
- 27:23Speaker 4: I've won twenty three games last two years. I mean,
- 27:26Speaker 4: that's that's you know, what's interesting about them is when
- 27:28Speaker 4: they left the independent status and jumped into the Big twelve,
- 27:32Speaker 4: they kind of took a dip and then whatever they did.
- 27:35Speaker 4: You know, obviously they've got money because they put rosters together.
- 27:38Speaker 4: We know about the Mormon calls there and the fact
- 27:40Speaker 4: that a lot of their players are older. Whatever they're
- 27:44Speaker 4: doing has worked, and I agree with you. I mean,
- 27:46Speaker 4: outside of Texas Tech, you look at BYU, that they
- 27:48Speaker 4: could be a team that not only wins the Big twelve,
- 27:51Speaker 4: gets in the playoff and maybe makes some noise.
- 27:53Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean that's why. I mean one thing you
- 27:56Speaker 7: mentioned that no one really talks about the their athletes
- 27:58Speaker 7: are I want to say a lot older but mature
- 28:02Speaker 7: because they've gone to their missions and they've probably seen
- 28:05Speaker 7: a lot and done a lot that most people have
- 28:08Speaker 7: never will see in a lifetime. So they when they
- 28:11Speaker 7: come back, they've changed people, and like I said, I
- 28:14Speaker 7: think their age and their leadership in the locker room
- 28:18Speaker 7: needs to be mentioned. I mean their first three games
- 28:22Speaker 7: or there can be three, no they I think. I
- 28:24Speaker 7: know it's Utah Tech, Arizona and Colorado State and then
- 28:28Speaker 7: they have a bye before they go to TCU, So
- 28:32Speaker 7: I mean they can really go into the TCU game
- 28:35Speaker 7: three and oh and anything happens after that. I know
- 28:38Speaker 7: they have to play Notre Dame this year though, too.
- 28:40Speaker 4: Let me ask you about Clemson. I'm looking at their
- 28:42Speaker 4: odds seventy five to one to win the national title.
- 28:44Speaker 4: I don't know if it's been that that low, maybe
- 28:47Speaker 4: since Dabo's first or second year there, and I'd have
- 28:49Speaker 4: to go back and look at you know, historical you
- 28:52Speaker 4: know Vegas data on this or that on this is
- 28:55Speaker 4: the is the luster totally gone off? Fantasy lost it.
- 29:00Speaker 7: We're going to have this conversation September sixth because when
- 29:04Speaker 7: they go when they have to play LSU and they lose,
- 29:08Speaker 7: I think we're going to have that issue because this
- 29:11Speaker 7: is not this is not the same Clemson team because
- 29:14Speaker 7: they won't get with the new college program. Danilo Street,
- 29:18Speaker 7: I don't understand his Tankics. I don't understand why he's
- 29:21Speaker 7: still there. Uh, they lose the LSU, they could go
- 29:24Speaker 7: they could lose the cow. I think their second road game, Oh,
- 29:28Speaker 7: they played what I think they played Georgia Southern uh
- 29:31Speaker 7: and Charleston Southern. They played both of those. Those could
- 29:34Speaker 7: be their only double digit wins. And I think every
- 29:36Speaker 7: other game, I think it's going to be tough. Even
- 29:39Speaker 7: their homecoming game against Metallica Slash spot Tech is going
- 29:44Speaker 7: to be a tough one.
- 29:45Speaker 4: What else is going on this weekend?
- 29:48Speaker 8: Not much.
- 29:48Speaker 7: Just like it's preseason. Anywhere in the country is hot,
- 29:51Speaker 7: so he really can't go outside because it's so hot everywhere,

- 31:40Speaker 4: Also football coach and athletics director Eugene Clinton right now,
- 31:43Speaker 4: head principal in the high school, mister Jacob Vinstra is
- 31:47Speaker 4: on your radio, mister Minster, Thank you, sir. How are you?
- 31:49Speaker 8: I'm good man. I appreciate you letting me be on
- 31:51Speaker 8: for a few minutes.
- 31:52Speaker 4: Oh Man, absolutely, we wouldn't have it any other way.
- 31:54Speaker 4: So you take over for doctor Killen who was here.
- 31:57Speaker 4: We were just talking about Cody and you know thing
- 32:00Speaker 4: you said, he teeds you up here, take us through.
- 32:03Speaker 4: You know when that spot came open, kind of your
- 32:04Speaker 4: decision to say, yeah, I want to I want to
- 32:07Speaker 4: continue to move and I want to lead the high
- 32:08Speaker 4: school here Brandon.
- 32:09Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 32:09Speaker 8: So I've been in administration for this my eighth year,
- 32:13Speaker 8: served Brandon Middle for three years of that, and you
- 32:15Speaker 8: know when the position came open, Initially I thought, you know,
- 32:17Speaker 8: my middle school guy, through and through That's where I've
- 32:19Speaker 8: always been and just had a tugging in my heart
- 32:22Speaker 8: and just felt like it was time to take that
- 32:24Speaker 8: next step. Put in my name for it, met with
- 32:26Speaker 8: mister Stein, mister Sanders, had great conversations about it, and
- 32:29Speaker 8: sat down with Cody and he kind of shared where
- 32:31Speaker 8: his vision was and what he had done to try
- 32:33Speaker 8: and implement a few changes. And the number one thing
- 32:36Speaker 8: he really shared with me was this school has already
- 32:39Speaker 8: got so many phenomenal things. It doesn't need a makeover.
- 32:42Speaker 8: It just needs a little fine tuning. Come in, see
- 32:44Speaker 8: the great things, see where you can help find improvements,
- 32:47Speaker 8: But don't try to change the ship. Just go go
- 32:49Speaker 8: with it, let it keep flowing. And I've taken that advice,
- 32:52Speaker 8: and teachers have been real excited. They've really enjoyed the
- 32:55Speaker 8: small little changes we've made here and there. I think
- 32:57Speaker 8: we're going in the great direction. I really appreciated what
- 32:59Speaker 8: coach Cody Killing did before I came in.
- 33:02Speaker 4: You know, you talk about middle school. The Misisvy High
- 33:04Speaker 4: School Activity Association who we partner with. They were over
- 33:07Speaker 4: at our building today doing some new creatives and stuff
- 33:10Speaker 4: for messaging for twenty six twenty seven, and some of
- 33:12Speaker 4: that messaging was middle school focused. I've got two middle schoolers,
- 33:16Speaker 4: I know, we all got kids. Just the importance and
- 33:20Speaker 4: I'd love to see this. You mentioned it, You've spent
- 33:23Speaker 4: a lot of your career middle school. The focus on
- 33:26Speaker 4: middle school boy that is so important?
- 33:28Speaker 8: Is it? It is to me it's one of the
- 33:30Speaker 8: most multiple moments of a kid's life. In elementary you know,
- 33:34Speaker 8: they're really just there. They're learning so much, their brains
- 33:37Speaker 8: are developing. By the time they get to middle school,
- 33:39Speaker 8: they're trying to figure out who they are. So am
- 33:42Speaker 8: I going to be that person who's in the arts world?
- 33:44Speaker 8: Do I want to be an athlete? Do I want
- 33:46Speaker 8: to be a scholar? And they have no idea. One
- 33:48Speaker 8: day they want to do this, the next day they
- 33:49Speaker 8: want to do that. They're so impressionable that if you're
- 33:52Speaker 8: able to find that right guidance for them to steer
- 33:56Speaker 8: them in a direction that where they're making positive choices,
- 33:58Speaker 8: they're trying to better themselves. They carry that into the
- 34:01Speaker 8: high school. And we've seen that with especially the freshman
- 34:04Speaker 8: and sophomores and juniors. You know, I was their assistant
- 34:06Speaker 8: principal at the middle school. So when they saw me,
- 34:09Speaker 8: they were like, oh, here comes mister Venstra, and I
- 34:11Speaker 8: remember how he was in the middle school, and I
- 34:13Speaker 8: can see with them that those foundational things we did
- 34:16Speaker 8: in middle school and the fruits of it now, because
- 34:19Speaker 8: middle school making ple your hair out, it can be
- 34:22Speaker 8: a frustrating, challenging time. To see the hard work that
- 34:25Speaker 8: I know those teachers are doing, Mister Rain's doings there
- 34:27Speaker 8: and that admin team and seeing the effect of it now,
- 34:30Speaker 8: it just really brings a lot of gratification to know
- 34:33Speaker 8: that what they're doing is working.
- 34:35Speaker 4: He is mister Jacob Vinstra, he is the head principal
- 34:37Speaker 4: here Brandon High School. Thursday edition of your Program. So
- 34:41Speaker 4: you know, we were talking to Rod and we were
- 34:42Speaker 4: talking through with MISSIPI Sports Medicine, the facilities here. We've
- 34:46Speaker 4: visited a lot of campuses with great facilities. You guys
- 34:49Speaker 4: are one of those as well. Just the beautiful football
- 34:51Speaker 4: facility everybody talks about even though you know with the
- 34:54Speaker 4: down the year last year, the Bulldog Stadium experience on
- 34:58Speaker 4: Friday nights, with the firework shows and just the dog
- 35:00Speaker 4: walk and you look over here, the new track that's
- 35:02Speaker 4: finally in service, new buildings, and I know you guys
- 35:05Speaker 4: have a master plan that every school does to continue
- 35:08Speaker 4: to build out. Talk about everything going on here at
- 35:11Speaker 4: Brandon High School.
- 35:12Speaker 8: So it's been really neat to see. We're getting to
- 35:14Speaker 8: host our first track event this year. So the track
- 35:17Speaker 8: was built I think it finalize a year and a
- 35:19Speaker 8: half ago. They've been using it for a practice facility
- 35:22Speaker 8: and a lot of different things, but they haven't been
- 35:24Speaker 8: quite ready to host an event. And here we are,
- 35:26Speaker 8: we're getting to host our first event this year. I
- 35:28Speaker 8: don't know if you've gotten to check out the sand
- 35:30Speaker 8: volleyball court that are right across.
- 35:31Speaker 4: I've heard a lot about it.
- 35:32Speaker 8: That has been a game changer, and not just for volleyball.
- 35:36Speaker 8: I was talking with coach Walker and Coach Clinton, and
- 35:38Speaker 8: the football team is in love with that sand court
- 35:41Speaker 8: because they will go out and they will do all
- 35:43Speaker 8: kinds of aerobic exercising out there, knowing that the damage
- 35:46Speaker 8: and wear and tear on their body is so much
- 35:48Speaker 8: less because they're on a sand court rather than running
- 35:51Speaker 8: on a turf for a grass field. So that's been
- 35:53Speaker 8: awesome to see. We're hoping to get some events hosted
- 35:56Speaker 8: there soon. There's still a few other things we got
- 35:57Speaker 8: to work through to make that happen, just lots of
- 36:00Speaker 8: different things. Sitting with b Club and their ideas of
- 36:03Speaker 8: what they want to try to do, to promote programs
- 36:05Speaker 8: and to build the programs. It's really it's an exciting
- 36:08Speaker 8: time to be here.
- 36:09Speaker 4: You know, I'm so intrigued where you know higher education
- 36:13Speaker 4: is going. And we always like to have I like
- 36:15Speaker 4: to have these conversations with the administrators like yourself, as
- 36:18Speaker 4: you know, with AI and the way things are moving
- 36:21Speaker 4: and how we see it in our business. Every business
- 36:23Speaker 4: is having to deal with it. Education is having to
- 36:25Speaker 4: deal with it. How are you guys handling that? You know,
- 36:30Speaker 4: from a from a higher education standpoint, because technology is
- 36:34Speaker 4: moving at such a rapid base.
- 36:35Speaker 8: Correct, It goes back to utilizing it and teaching them
- 36:39Speaker 8: kids to.
- 36:40Speaker 4: Use it the right way.
- 36:41Speaker 8: So it's real easy as a kid to be I
- 36:44Speaker 8: mean we all did it as kids too. You look
- 36:45Speaker 8: over and you see if you can get a quick
- 36:47Speaker 8: answer to try and get things done right, it happened. Well.
- 36:50Speaker 8: Kids today they can easily just put everything into a
- 36:53Speaker 8: computer program, take a picture of it, and boom, it's
- 36:55Speaker 8: done for them. So how do we know they're learning things?
- 36:58Speaker 8: A lot of it comes into monitor during the teachers
- 37:00Speaker 8: do a phenomenal job especially of trying to make sure
- 37:03Speaker 8: they're they're seeing an actual student's product. But then teaching
- 37:07Speaker 8: the kids. Hey, we've got AI and this a great tool.
- 37:10Speaker 8: How can you actually use it to benefit yourself? So
- 37:12Speaker 8: I saw a teacher the other day. She was teaching
- 37:14Speaker 8: a lesson. The kids were just it was way over
- 37:16Speaker 8: the heads. They had no idea what she was talking about.
- 37:18Speaker 8: She pulled up chat GVT and she said, let me
- 37:20Speaker 8: show you something. She gave the topic. She said, give
- 37:22Speaker 8: it on a twelfth grade level, and it was still confusing.
- 37:25Speaker 8: She said, can you tell me this again. Pretend it
- 37:27Speaker 8: was a glass of second graders explain the exact same
- 37:30Speaker 8: concept in a simpler way, and they clearly understood it
- 37:33Speaker 8: and then progressed through it.
- 37:34Speaker 4: So, just seeing different.
- 37:36Speaker 8: Ways to utilize such a it's a phenomenal resource. I
- 37:39Speaker 8: use it daily in our job. Doctor Daddy, I don't
- 37:42Speaker 8: know if you've met him. Well, he is a tech
- 37:45Speaker 8: guru and he has used Claude and these other platforms
- 37:48Speaker 8: to revamp things that we're utilizing in the school. And
- 37:51Speaker 8: it's just so beneficial. But it still has our creative side.
- 37:55Speaker 8: It still requires our mind. We've trained it to do
- 37:58Speaker 8: what we need it to do rather than just let
- 38:00Speaker 8: and to give us a product and hope we can
- 38:01Speaker 8: figure it out.
- 38:02Speaker 4: Yeah, it's interesting, and you know, I think the biggest
- 38:05Speaker 4: challenge is to make sure and I'm preaching the choir,
- 38:08Speaker 4: is that students, and you kind already said this, they
- 38:10Speaker 4: don't become just dependent on it, like what if we
- 38:13Speaker 4: was a world where if you flip the light switch
- 38:15Speaker 4: and it was gone. You still want them to be
- 38:16Speaker 4: able to think objectively and organically, be able to process information.
- 38:21Speaker 8: And it's really neat kids nowadays. I don't want to
- 38:25Speaker 8: say relationships, but it's almost like a relationship with AI.
- 38:29Speaker 8: It's a friend to them. They have conversations with it,
- 38:32Speaker 8: so they're using it as a social platform rather than
- 38:36Speaker 8: how can I use it as a resource to help
- 38:37Speaker 8: me understand more clearly? And that's something I'm seeing in
- 38:40Speaker 8: a lot of our teachers when they use AI in
- 38:42Speaker 8: the classroom, they're trying to say, let me teach you
- 38:45Speaker 8: how to do it first. Now that you understand how
- 38:47Speaker 8: to do it, let's apply it with this and see
- 38:49Speaker 8: how we can take it to the next level. I
- 38:52Speaker 8: just think AI, if we don't keep a rain on
- 38:54Speaker 8: it and try to keep it from being just over
- 38:56Speaker 8: inclusive and taking over everything, then we can see true
- 39:00Speaker 8: benefit from it. But if we allow it to do
- 39:02Speaker 8: it for us, then we're setting our kids up to
- 39:04Speaker 8: not be successful in the real world.
- 39:05Speaker 4: Got about a minute and a half left here with
- 39:08Speaker 4: mister Jacovinstro. He's the head principal here at Brandon High School.
- 39:10Speaker 4: A lot of energy behind Coach Clinton, and of course
- 39:13Speaker 4: his new staff is here. You can fill the energy
- 39:16Speaker 4: here on campus for football cent.
- 39:18Speaker 8: I was talking with a few guys from MRA the
- 39:20Speaker 8: other night when we had our volleyball game here and
- 39:23Speaker 8: they brought up our new OC and DC and they
- 39:25Speaker 8: just said, man, what home run hires have you brought in?
- 39:28Speaker 8: And I said, well, give credit to Coach Clinton. I
- 39:29Speaker 8: didn't do that. Coach Clinton is a very humble man.
- 39:32Speaker 8: He comes across and you can see him and he's
- 39:35Speaker 8: got a lot of confidence about himself, but he is
- 39:37Speaker 8: very humble and he knew that if I'm going to
- 39:39Speaker 8: guide this program and the way the rection needs to be,
- 39:41Speaker 8: I have a force behind me that is going to
- 39:44Speaker 8: take these kids to the next level. So he sought
- 39:46Speaker 8: out and fought hard to get these guys here, and
- 39:48Speaker 8: we did everything in our power to make sure we
- 39:50Speaker 8: got them here in the way that they interact with
- 39:53Speaker 8: the kids, hearing the things that I'm hearing, the practice,
- 39:55Speaker 8: the competitions. The kids are fired up, they want to
- 39:58Speaker 8: get out on the field. I'm excited to see them
- 40:00Speaker 8: a little bit tonight. I'm sure they won't go full
- 40:02Speaker 8: impact Jamboree next week we'll get a little taste, but man,
- 40:05Speaker 8: that first game of two plow. I'm just am excited
- 40:07Speaker 8: to see what we put on the field, and I
- 40:09Speaker 8: know it's gonna be a great product.
- 40:11Speaker 4: He is the head principal here at Brandon High School.
- 40:13Speaker 4: Mister Jacob, mister Minscher, thank you so much. I appreciate
- 40:16Speaker 4: your time today. Yes, sir, we're getting close to the
