- 0:12- Welcome
- 0:15- to the divine five one five podcast. Here
- 0:16- is today's prayer.
- 0:23- Hello, and welcome to daily prayers with Valerie
- 0:26- Groeschel.
- 0:28- Today's prayer topic
- 0:30- is going to be dealing with how to
- 0:32- let go of hurt.
- 0:33- Scripture text comes from Psalms one forty seven
- 0:36- three and says, he heals the brokenhearted and
- 0:39- binds up their wounds.
- 0:42- Now I am sure that we would all
- 0:44- agree to some degree
- 0:46- that there are some hurts that don't disappear
- 0:48- simply because time passes.
- 0:51- Whether it's a betrayal or words you still
- 0:54- remember, or maybe it's
- 0:56- someone who walked away that you cared about,
- 1:00- something that happened differently
- 1:02- than you expected.
- 1:05- Maybe you may have continued living, working, serving,
- 1:08- and caring for everyone else while quietly caring
- 1:12- what happened.
- 1:15- And yet still sometimes holding on to hurt
- 1:18- feels safer
- 1:20- than releasing it.
- 1:23- We don't want to minimize what happened.
- 1:26- We don't want the person who hurt us
- 1:28- to somehow get away with it.
- 1:32- But
- 1:33- releasing hurt doesn't mean
- 1:35- saying it didn't matter because it does.
- 1:40- It does mean deciding the pain will no
- 1:42- longer have unlimited access to your heart,
- 1:45- but that is an intentional
- 1:47- choice.
- 1:50- God doesn't ask us to pretend we're not
- 1:52- hurting.
- 1:54- In fact, I would say that that's very
- 1:56- unhealthy
- 1:58- and just compounds the problem.
- 2:02- Rather, he invites us to bring the wound
- 2:04- to him,
- 2:06- and that requires honesty.
- 2:11- Yes, father.
- 2:12- This still hurts.
- 2:15- And then
- 2:17- allow prayer to become the place where you
- 2:19- stop carrying the pain alone.
- 2:22- Remember,
- 2:23- the enemy's biggest thing is to tell you
- 2:26- that you don't need anyone's help. You can
- 2:29- make it on your own.
- 2:32- But the key
- 2:33- to spiritual freedom and deliverance is remembering that
- 2:37- healing
- 2:38- may take some time, and it doesn't necessarily
- 2:40- mean that it won't leave a scar,
- 2:43- but
- 2:44- surrender
- 2:45- can begin today.
- 2:49- That being said,
- 2:50- let's pray about it.
- 2:53- Heavenly father, you know where we've been hurt
- 2:57- and what still affects us.
- 2:59- We bring that pain to you today.
- 3:03- Father, we ask that you heal what is
- 3:05- wounded,
- 3:06- soften what has become hardened,
- 3:08- and help us release what we've been carrying
- 3:12- way too long.
- 3:14- Today, father, we intentionally trust you with our
- 3:18- healing, and we will bless you in Jesus'
- 3:21- name.
- 3:23- You know, you don't have to pretend something
- 3:25- doesn't hurt in order to move forward.
- 3:29- You just have to bring the real hurt
- 3:30- to God.
- 3:32- And if you know someone carrying a quiet
- 3:35- hurt,
- 3:35- share this prayer with them.
- 3:38- Your share may remind them that God still
- 3:40- needs us in wounded places.
- 3:43- And until tomorrow,
- 3:45- put down a little
- 3:46- of the weight and let God meet you
- 3:54- right
- 4:01- there.
