- 0:11Speaker 1: Good morning everyone. This is Michelle Hughes from Ageless and Timeless.
- 0:15Speaker 1: You're a wonderful podcast that always tries to feature the
- 0:19Speaker 1: very best in the best of the best in their field,
- 0:22Speaker 1: and today I haves no exception. I have Alex Jamal
- 0:25Speaker 1: who is a big well celebrity trainer, but you know
- 0:29Speaker 1: trainer and nutritionist in Los Angeles, and he was introduced
- 0:33Speaker 1: to me by my good friend Rob Fletcher, who had
- 0:37Speaker 1: his own fitness facility for many years in Florida. So, actually, Alex,
- 0:42Speaker 1: good morning, And how did you and Rob know each other?
- 0:44Speaker 2: Just curious?
- 0:46Speaker 3: Good morning, I've done the Rob for many years. Actually
- 0:52Speaker 3: we met first time the ISSN International Society for Sports
- 0:57Speaker 3: Nutrition Conference.
- 0:59Speaker 2: Uh huh years ago? How many years ago was that?
- 1:05Speaker 3: You know what? No, the first time I met Rob,
- 1:09Speaker 3: I just remembered exactly. I was sitting in front row
- 1:12Speaker 3: at the VIP section the mister Olympia and he was
- 1:15Speaker 3: sitting next to me. He was all dressed. We were
- 1:19Speaker 3: almost maybe second droll, you know, in front of us
- 1:23Speaker 3: with Arnold Schwarzenegger and other mister Olympias. So then he
- 1:29Speaker 3: handed me his card and we just stayed a little
- 1:31Speaker 3: bit in contact and the next thing. Maybe two months later,
- 1:36Speaker 3: I see him in the iss and Conference Sports and
- 1:41Speaker 3: Nutrition Conference. That was twelve years ago.
- 1:44Speaker 2: Oh wow, wow, Well both of you have evolved since then.
- 1:48Speaker 3: Right, thank you. Yeah, it's been it's been a journey.
- 1:53Speaker 2: So tell me about you. Tell us about your journey.
- 1:56Speaker 1: I'm sure my audience wants to know how did you
- 1:58Speaker 1: go from there to there to hear? So give us
- 2:02Speaker 1: a quick thumbnail about how are where you are?
- 2:06Speaker 2: Today?
- 2:09Speaker 3: Well, quickly, like, I've always loved sports since I was
- 2:13Speaker 3: a kid, and I always wanted to be that that
- 2:18Speaker 3: either like a professional athlete that his passion will make
- 2:22Speaker 3: him money and live out of it, or be like
- 2:25Speaker 3: a champion and the same thing like sport would be
- 2:29Speaker 3: in every aspect of his life. And with that mindset,
- 2:34Speaker 3: every day since then, since I was maybe twelve, I've
- 2:37Speaker 3: always like trying to, you know, prove myself and excel
- 2:44Speaker 3: in life. So later on I decided to study nutrition,
- 2:49Speaker 3: and unfortunately I couldn't do it like the way I wanted,
- 2:54Speaker 3: so then I had to change my major at the
- 2:56Speaker 3: beginning and just have a degree in the business in business.
- 3:00Speaker 3: But on the side, I was working out, as you know,
- 3:05Speaker 3: I was in the basketball team and so on, and
- 3:07Speaker 3: then I got my certificates as a person trainer and nutritionists.
- 3:13Speaker 3: That was the first, like I was like maybe twenty
- 3:17Speaker 3: two years old, and then from there I started, you know,
- 3:23Speaker 3: getting side jobs, having like a part time job as
- 3:29Speaker 3: a trainer, and I kept excelling and then of course
- 3:33Speaker 3: developing my body because you know, to be able to
- 3:37Speaker 3: become the fitness champion that I wanted, it would take
- 3:40Speaker 3: many years, so maybe ten years after training or I
- 3:46Speaker 3: want to say maybe nine years something like that. That's
- 3:49Speaker 3: when I start, when I first competed, and then I
- 3:54Speaker 3: became mister Lebanon Beyruda, and then after that I traveled
- 3:58Speaker 3: to the world. And I was very fortunate in my
- 4:02Speaker 3: whole career because it's like it's like a blessing. I
- 4:06Speaker 3: have to say. I was always I don't know how,
- 4:10Speaker 3: but in a way or another. Of course I I
- 4:12Speaker 3: has it for it. But I would be either around
- 4:18Speaker 3: mister Olympia, around the celebrity around Sylvester Stone, Frank stallone,
- 4:22Speaker 3: around here, around in la in London in some way
- 4:27Speaker 3: some way. But I always had the mindset in my
- 4:30Speaker 3: head like I gotta you know, I want this. I
- 4:33Speaker 3: pursued it. But you know, I always liked you know,
- 4:39Speaker 3: I believe in in in in education. So for your listeners,
- 4:44Speaker 3: education is very important. You have to go to seven hours,
- 4:47Speaker 3: you have to. I mean recently, I I'm thinking to
- 4:53Speaker 3: get another it's a very prestigious degree from Duke University.
- 4:58Speaker 3: Although I don't really needed, but I just like, you know,
- 5:01Speaker 3: maybe this will add one percent of me. So the
- 5:06Speaker 3: mindset of of always always studying to be better, that's
- 5:11Speaker 3: that's that's my whole life and it carried me to
- 5:14Speaker 3: to to become the person I am now where I
- 5:17Speaker 3: own my own business and I have a small nice
- 5:21Speaker 3: studio for some celebrities that come train with me or
- 5:25Speaker 3: either my clients. I you know, I do public speaking.
- 5:29Speaker 3: I lecture about entire aging, about working out, must have lost,
- 5:32Speaker 3: stuff like that, everything that has to do with the
- 5:37Speaker 3: human body and exercise science. So uh pretty much.
- 5:42Speaker 1: That's so, where exactly is your studio?
- 5:47Speaker 3: I am located in Culver City, which is in uh.
- 5:54Speaker 1: I lived in I spent here in Marina del Rey.
- 5:59Speaker 1: I had a condo, have.
- 6:01Speaker 3: Many clients from Marina. I have many lines that come
- 6:04Speaker 3: from I'm not that far. It's only like five miles
- 6:07Speaker 3: from Marina, Right, oh.
- 6:09Speaker 2: I saw your address, actually, says Marina del Rey.
- 6:15Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 6:17Speaker 1: So all right, well let's let's let's dive in a
- 6:19Speaker 1: little bit, because people are very curious about fitness and nutrition,
- 6:24Speaker 1: and particularly today with all the rage about g LP
- 6:28Speaker 1: ones and people's weight loss being so dramatic. So I'm
- 6:33Speaker 1: just going to try to go methodically with first and foremost,
- 6:38Speaker 1: what is what do you think is the biggest misconception
- 6:41Speaker 1: people have about getting in.
- 6:43Speaker 3: Shape that they want to get they will get in
- 6:50Speaker 3: shape the next day off signing up.
- 6:54Speaker 2: In other words, impatience, very impatient. It's timetables.
- 7:01Speaker 4: Yeah, it's so many, so many, you know, And that's
- 7:06Speaker 4: actually why you'd see many gyms and even like gyms
- 7:10Speaker 4: and people like you know, you go and check, they
- 7:15Speaker 4: sign up and they only come for a day or
- 7:17Speaker 4: two and then the rest of the year.
- 7:19Speaker 3: They're paying the membership, but they're not they're not showing
- 7:22Speaker 3: up to work out.
- 7:23Speaker 1: I know, I know, I think I've read somewhere the
- 7:25Speaker 1: percentages of people that sign up for gym memberships that
- 7:28Speaker 1: actually ever fulfill like attending the gym is it's an
- 7:34Speaker 1: abysmal number.
- 7:36Speaker 2: I mean, you know, and people always like in.
- 7:37Speaker 1: The beginning of the year, they have their New Year's
- 7:39Speaker 1: resolutions and oh, I'm going to join a gym, and
- 7:42Speaker 1: then you know, a month later, they're not even they're paying,
- 7:46Speaker 1: but they're not going so so all right, so so
- 7:50Speaker 1: in patience or belief that they can make a transformation transformation.
- 7:55Speaker 2: Much more quickly.
- 7:56Speaker 1: So what's your step by step approach to effect change
- 8:01Speaker 1: positive change?
- 8:04Speaker 3: Well, first, you know, from the beginning, you have to
- 8:12Speaker 3: have to like have this mindset of Okay, I'm joining
- 8:15Speaker 3: the gym, for example, or I'm hiring a person trainer,
- 8:19Speaker 3: or I'm jumping on this although I don't like that thing.
- 8:24Speaker 3: We talk about it later, I'll be on this diet. Well,
- 8:28Speaker 3: you have to start with the mentality of you know,
- 8:30Speaker 3: I'm gonna be this time. I know it's going to
- 8:34Speaker 3: be hard, but I'm not gonna quit the first thing
- 8:38Speaker 3: hits me. I'm not gonna say, oh it's too hard,
- 8:41Speaker 3: I can't do it. So you have to start with
- 8:44Speaker 3: the with the mental state where I will push every day,
- 8:48Speaker 3: I would push this time I have I have the
- 8:52Speaker 3: ability to do it. That's where you any person has
- 8:56Speaker 3: to start, you know, and not what the first thing,
- 9:00Speaker 3: Oh I get hungry right away, then I go eat.
- 9:03Speaker 3: You're supposed to get hungry if your goal is to
- 9:06Speaker 3: lose some fat. R And and of course picking, picking, picking,
- 9:13Speaker 3: or like hiring someone. I mean, not everyone can afford everything,
- 9:17Speaker 3: but I'm just saying, like hiring someone around you, around
- 9:22Speaker 3: your radius where you it's not very hard to go
- 9:25Speaker 3: to the gym or who's really has a course of success,
- 9:31Speaker 3: because that person will really play a good role in
- 9:36Speaker 3: keeping you on at least at the beginning when you
- 9:39Speaker 3: because then you know, the beginning is always a little hard.
- 9:42Speaker 3: Then you break the bad habits, and then you get
- 9:44Speaker 3: most of the people after that. It's like a train.
- 9:47Speaker 3: They stick on the same route unless you know something
- 9:51Speaker 3: happened and they could, so majorly the mindset. Second, having
- 9:57Speaker 3: someone who can really support you. Third, trying to create,
- 10:01Speaker 3: like you know, a support system around you. Like if
- 10:04Speaker 3: you're in a relationship, your partner has to be like
- 10:08Speaker 3: understanding what's happening your kids, same thing, like oh you know,
- 10:12Speaker 3: come on, mom, it's okay, you can eat it us
- 10:14Speaker 3: this time. Let's have them. But if you are i mean,
- 10:18Speaker 3: if you're every time you going to have an exception,
- 10:20Speaker 3: then you're not really stigging that a plan so that
- 10:25Speaker 3: you have again you have to work on it from
- 10:29Speaker 3: the beginning with your mind.
- 10:31Speaker 1: Healthy circulation is foundational to overall wellness, and nitric oxide
- 10:36Speaker 1: plays a critical role in how the body delivers oxygen
- 10:40Speaker 1: and nutrients where they're needed. Most N one oh one
- 10:44Speaker 1: focuses on supporting nitric oxide production as a pathway to
- 10:49Speaker 1: better cardiovascular health, energy, and performance. This is an area
- 10:55Speaker 1: of health that often gets overlooked, yet it impacts everything
- 10:59Speaker 1: from brain functions into endurance and recovery. N one oh
- 11:02Speaker 1: one's work brings important attention to a system that truly
- 11:07Speaker 1: affects whole body vitality. You can learn more about N
- 11:11Speaker 1: one oh one and doctor Nathan Bryan and their approach
- 11:15Speaker 1: by visiting the link in the show notes or by
- 11:18Speaker 1: using the code ageless ten for ten percent off of
- 11:22Speaker 1: all their products. So alix, do you interview a new
- 11:30Speaker 1: client before you accept them in order to test some
- 11:34Speaker 1: of those parameters that you just described and so that
- 11:38Speaker 1: you're not going to get programmed for failure because you
- 11:42Speaker 1: will only want those.
- 11:43Speaker 3: Who are I do I. Actually, you know one of
- 11:48Speaker 3: my guys I have on the walls of my studio
- 11:53Speaker 3: is mindset is everything. And I've always been known even
- 11:56Speaker 3: on my website, it's like it's the mind you have
- 11:59Speaker 3: to you know from the beginning. I you know, because
- 12:03Speaker 3: I I've had a great success with beginners a lot
- 12:06Speaker 3: from the beginning. You have to like make those people
- 12:12Speaker 3: understand what what are they getting getting into? You know,
- 12:17Speaker 3: let's face it with me, working out is not like
- 12:20Speaker 3: a fun thing, you know, and then but we need it.
- 12:24Speaker 3: It's very important. It's the best thing as an antire
- 12:28Speaker 3: aging is the best thing that will keep you away
- 12:31Speaker 3: from seeing doctors and taking medicine. So I explained to
- 12:37Speaker 3: to to to the two people who sign up with me, like, Okay,
- 12:41Speaker 3: look first, I'll try my best to make things easy
- 12:47Speaker 3: for you. But it's also you are accountable, so we're
- 12:51Speaker 3: gonna work together. I know sometimes when you're away from me,
- 12:55Speaker 3: like oh you're going to be you know, you go
- 12:58Speaker 3: to the weekend and you know, Sandree's is a place
- 13:01Speaker 3: whereas most of the time the weather is okay, you
- 13:04Speaker 3: got to go out or something. You have to start
- 13:07Speaker 3: from there. You have to start the good. You know.
- 13:10Speaker 3: We're not I'm not going to get off my routine.
- 13:13Speaker 3: I don't want to drink. I don't want to be
- 13:16Speaker 3: eating extra you know, I would make healthy choices. Like example,
- 13:22Speaker 3: I have a new clients. From the beginning, he from
- 13:26Speaker 3: the first session, all what I heard was all the excuses.
- 13:29Speaker 3: I said, Okay, hold on, Anthony, we're going to stop here,
- 13:32Speaker 3: talk about it a little bit. And he's like, oh, well,
- 13:35Speaker 3: what I'm going to do and get hungry? I said,
- 13:37Speaker 3: you're supposed to get hungry. If someone told you you're
- 13:40Speaker 3: not going to get hungry and you're going to lose
- 13:42Speaker 3: some fat, and then that's not applicable. You know, you
- 13:46Speaker 3: have to put your you have to put your body
- 13:48Speaker 3: in a key. You say, you have to put your
- 13:51Speaker 3: body in a place where let's start using your storage.
- 13:54Speaker 3: And he's like, oh, he became silent. He's like, yeah,
- 13:58Speaker 3: you need that goal. You have to work for it.
- 14:00Speaker 3: So we work. We work a lot other than okay,
- 14:04Speaker 3: this form, try to do this, try to do that,
- 14:07Speaker 3: you know, go deeper in this, for example, so it's
- 14:12Speaker 3: all in here, because then when you control your thoughts
- 14:15Speaker 3: and what's going in your mind and the rest will
- 14:17Speaker 3: flow well.
- 14:20Speaker 1: So so that's you know, you're talking about someone who
- 14:24Speaker 1: needed some help. I mean psychologically, you have to be
- 14:27Speaker 1: a part part psychologist as well as a nutrition.
- 14:30Speaker 2: Do right because you need to.
- 14:33Speaker 1: And if you don't have a positive a p M
- 14:35Speaker 1: A a positive mental attitude about your routines, you're.
- 14:39Speaker 2: Not going to make it. You're going to quit because
- 14:41Speaker 2: it's it's you.
- 14:42Speaker 1: Know, you're being You're going to challenge them, and particularly
- 14:46Speaker 1: when they have to do some dramatic changes. So well,
- 14:49Speaker 1: let's take let's take an example of a very disciplined person, someone.
- 14:53Speaker 2: Who's already far along in the.
- 14:55Speaker 1: Journey of wellness, longevity, fitness.
- 14:59Speaker 2: What what do you find that people like that get wrong?
- 15:03Speaker 3: The discipline types that they will always show up like
- 15:08Speaker 3: Frank Frank for example, Frankstone a little bit joined my
- 15:12Speaker 3: two lines there there no matter what you know, rain
- 15:16Speaker 3: or shine, as you say they, I know we're going
- 15:19Speaker 3: to work out, so I I know she like she's
- 15:23Speaker 3: going to come the next week and uh sorry, the
- 15:26Speaker 3: next week she did. She did her own homework on
- 15:29Speaker 3: the weekend. I know for sure. So so and that
- 15:33Speaker 3: actually was it was what was it very well? Or
- 15:37Speaker 3: is a very important aspect in their life for their
- 15:40Speaker 3: That's why they're more successful than others because discipline actually
- 15:44Speaker 3: in your in your in your own lifestyle is what
- 15:48Speaker 3: you're is what you will make you a successful business
- 15:50Speaker 3: woman or man. And you know, if you know, I
- 15:54Speaker 3: always use this term. You know, if you apply what
- 15:58Speaker 3: what you know in odd building is very hard. It's
- 16:02Speaker 3: very hard, right because I'm not talking about just competitive
- 16:06Speaker 3: body and I'm talking about, like you know, being on
- 16:09Speaker 3: everything on point, and that requires discipline. And if you
- 16:13Speaker 3: use the same mentality and the same way you're applying
- 16:18Speaker 3: that of dieting and exercise, waking up early and or
- 16:23Speaker 3: maybe not very well, going to bed without going out
- 16:27Speaker 3: and for no reason, if there's no networking, if if
- 16:30Speaker 3: there's nothing important, then it's it's important for you to
- 16:34Speaker 3: sleep because the next day will you need to perform
- 16:36Speaker 3: very well in your job, whatever the your job is.
- 16:39Speaker 3: So if you use these these keys, uh and apply
- 16:43Speaker 3: them in your in your in your in your life,
- 16:46Speaker 3: then then you're already you become really successful. Actually, it
- 16:51Speaker 3: gives you more time to be creative, and creativity creates
- 16:56Speaker 3: a lot of things.
- 16:57Speaker 1: Yeah, So do.
- 16:58Speaker 2: They do you learn from them as much as.
- 17:00Speaker 1: They learn from you in terms of the little tricks
- 17:04Speaker 1: that they're using for that discipline? Is there anything that
- 17:08Speaker 1: you've learned and you can share with us today that
- 17:12Speaker 1: you've observed by being around people like Frank Stallone and
- 17:17Speaker 1: who is Elizabeth.
- 17:22Speaker 3: Yeah, she's one of the producer She's a she's a producer.
- 17:26Speaker 3: Good good Yeah. So yeah, of course, you know there
- 17:33Speaker 3: are days that I would really just want to enjoy
- 17:37Speaker 3: myself after all these years of working hard, and then
- 17:41Speaker 3: or like, sometimes I don't want to work out because
- 17:43Speaker 3: I've I've competed for ten years around the world. I mean,
- 17:48Speaker 3: so then'm like, no, let me, let me do it
- 17:51Speaker 3: and get it done and then I'll see how the
- 17:54Speaker 3: day goes and I'll see how things will will be.
- 17:56Speaker 3: So that that really, you know, it was really helpful
- 18:01Speaker 3: to push in the days that you know, you feel like,
- 18:06Speaker 3: you know, I don't want to do it.
- 18:09Speaker 1: Right, So sometimes they're pushing you as much as you're them.
- 18:13Speaker 3: So I'll get I get the text like come on,
- 18:17Speaker 3: let's go yeah yeah, or where are you something like that.
- 18:22Speaker 1: So, Alex, what actually changes in our metabolism as we
- 18:26Speaker 1: get older that causes it to become more difficult to
- 18:32Speaker 1: go through and have success in programs like yours.
- 18:37Speaker 3: Well, if for someone who doesn't work out, it's it's
- 18:42Speaker 3: a problem because you know, as we age, as we
- 18:45Speaker 3: age every ten years, we lose muscles, right, we lose
- 18:49Speaker 3: between between three to ten percent depends, Okay, and that
- 18:55Speaker 3: and that you don't you don't want to. You don't
- 18:57Speaker 3: want to face this because you know, the first of
- 19:00Speaker 3: or are hard to get and it's not easy to
- 19:03Speaker 3: maintain them. But it's not impossible as well. For but
- 19:07Speaker 3: message are going to protect you, protect your joint, keep
- 19:09Speaker 3: you strong, keep you okay going up and down the stairs.
- 19:13Speaker 3: I mean your daily your daily activities. I'm not saying
- 19:18Speaker 3: like more than that. So that actually is very important
- 19:21Speaker 3: to prevent disease and and and injuries. And then if
- 19:26Speaker 3: you want to and then and then comes the aspect
- 19:30Speaker 3: of you know, as you age, your hormones will decline
- 19:34Speaker 3: if and if you're not if you're not always you know,
- 19:37Speaker 3: I like doing my physicals every six months to check
- 19:41Speaker 3: everything in my body. That's me. But I also recommend
- 19:45Speaker 3: that to my clients or people I know, I mean,
- 19:47Speaker 3: if if you can't do that every six month, it's
- 19:50Speaker 3: much better. I get a detailed blood work with your
- 19:54Speaker 3: hormones and everything else. Uh, and just you know, keep
- 19:58Speaker 3: and keep keep track of what's happening, and if there's
- 20:02Speaker 3: something that appears a little often, then right away tackle it.
- 20:07Speaker 3: So as we age, those will start changing for for
- 20:12Speaker 3: many you know, for men sometimes the testaster will go
- 20:17Speaker 3: down if you're in some and for women, you know,
- 20:20Speaker 3: before I think the average American women by fifty she
- 20:24Speaker 3: hits menopause. That's the average for eight fifty. So that's
- 20:28Speaker 3: also another big hit for a woman, you know, pre
- 20:33Speaker 3: momopause mamble, so that that it changes the metabolism big time,
- 20:37Speaker 3: and the best and you can you probably know it,
- 20:41Speaker 3: but every you you read it in every recommendation, the
- 20:45Speaker 3: best thing for a woman is to work out. First
- 20:48Speaker 3: thing is to work out.
- 20:49Speaker 1: You know, well yeah, because well that's why I mentioned
- 20:51Speaker 1: the GLP once because that they're you know, infamous for charcopinia.
- 20:57Speaker 1: If if people are using them incorrectly or not supplementing
- 21:04Speaker 1: with the proper protein.
- 21:06Speaker 2: Or so, you know, that's that's kind of a new
- 21:09Speaker 2: challenge for you.
- 21:10Speaker 1: Because people have had many many people have had dramatic
- 21:13Speaker 1: weight loss, but that weight loss comes with a price,
- 21:17Speaker 1: and so.
- 21:18Speaker 2: You might be happier with the way your body.
- 21:21Speaker 1: Looks, but your health has can deteriorate if you don't
- 21:26Speaker 1: offset it with a proper diet. So that's a that's
- 21:30Speaker 1: an important news.
- 21:31Speaker 3: Yeah, anyone on GENP wants to be working out, it's
- 21:36Speaker 3: way better. Yeah, because because the product there is losing everything,
- 21:41Speaker 3: and you don't want to lose the muscle and muscles.
- 21:43Speaker 3: Like I said, it's hard to keep and maintain as
- 21:46Speaker 3: you as you get older.
- 21:49Speaker 2: That's right.
- 21:50Speaker 1: So, so what are some of the non negotiables for
- 21:54Speaker 1: people that reach that midlife? Obviously the muscle loss is
- 21:59Speaker 1: the on the hormones you mentioned is too. So I
- 22:04Speaker 1: assume you tell all your clients to get their hormones tested,
- 22:07Speaker 1: which a lot of allopathic medicine doctors don't even ask you.
- 22:12Speaker 1: They just take your you know CBC.
- 22:14Speaker 3: And you know, if you're not going to ask your
- 22:17Speaker 3: doctor about it, they're not going to do it. They're
- 22:19Speaker 3: not going to add.
- 22:21Speaker 1: At least the allopath the functional medicine doctors like my
- 22:25Speaker 1: doctor in Beverly Hills.
- 22:26Speaker 2: I mean, that's the first thing she would say is.
- 22:28Speaker 1: You need to test hormones along with everything else. But
- 22:33Speaker 1: not all doctors are like that because they're much more
- 22:36Speaker 1: traditionally educated. They don't even and they don't even really
- 22:39Speaker 1: understand women's health. And you know more, even even with men,
- 22:44Speaker 1: they don't test their testosterone and thyroid and stuff.
- 22:47Speaker 3: But yeah, which is worth Yeah, but now I think
- 22:52Speaker 3: you know now a little but a little bit individually.
- 22:57Speaker 3: I mean I've sense it with people like that, they're
- 23:00Speaker 3: a little bit more aware of that. But not everyone,
- 23:03Speaker 3: not everyone, I have to say. Yeah, but again, yeah,
- 23:07Speaker 3: if you don't ask your doctor about it, they're not
- 23:09Speaker 3: gonna do it for you. So you have to either
- 23:13Speaker 3: go to a specialized functional doctor like yours, or or
- 23:17Speaker 3: you have to ask the doctor, can you please add
- 23:19Speaker 3: that on the panet so we can I know it's happening,
- 23:23Speaker 3: or if there's something I'm not feeling okay, I'm feeling down,
- 23:26Speaker 3: I'm not feeling uh, you know, recover there's yeah.
- 23:31Speaker 1: Well it's interesting that you know, even with hormone testing,
- 23:35Speaker 1: like like the thy word is probably the one most
- 23:37Speaker 1: underdiagnosed condition people go through.
- 23:40Speaker 2: They oh, the thyroid's normal.
- 23:42Speaker 1: Well that's because the doctors are only testing for t
- 23:45Speaker 1: s H, which isn't even.
- 23:46Speaker 2: The thyroid hormone. It's a pituitary hormone.
- 23:49Speaker 1: But they don't go any further to the T three
- 23:51Speaker 1: and the reverse T three and the T four and
- 23:54Speaker 1: all that. So people come away say, I don't feel
- 23:57Speaker 1: well and my hands and my hands and feeder, I'm
- 24:00Speaker 1: gaining weight, I.
- 24:01Speaker 2: Feel tired and lethogeny, but yet my thyroid.
- 24:04Speaker 1: Because they only test this one measurement doesn't tell you
- 24:08Speaker 1: the whole story. And so then they walk away from
- 24:11Speaker 1: the doctor's fifteen minute interview with them to post laboratory analysis,
- 24:17Speaker 1: and they think, what's wrong with me? You know that
- 24:20Speaker 1: I don't feel well, and yet my thigh word allegedly
- 24:24Speaker 1: my thyghroid is normal, but it's actually because it wasn't
- 24:26Speaker 1: thoroughly tested. But so those non negotiables, you know, so
- 24:33Speaker 1: give us another.
- 24:34Speaker 2: Okay, we know protein, we.
- 24:36Speaker 1: Know physical fitness, we know hormone testing. Are there any
- 24:42Speaker 1: others that come of sleep?
- 24:46Speaker 3: Yeah? But protein is a big as a big subject
- 24:49Speaker 3: because you know, oftentimes people think they got they got enough,
- 24:54Speaker 3: or they don't know what type of good of good
- 24:57Speaker 3: proteins they're eating. So you really we need to you know,
- 25:01Speaker 3: not all meat are equal, by the way, and there's
- 25:04Speaker 3: some meat you shouldn't be eating at all. And so
- 25:07Speaker 3: and so I would I would, I would, I would
- 25:12Speaker 3: be more like, you know, focus on that because you
- 25:16Speaker 3: know from protein comes amino acid and amino acid helping
- 25:20Speaker 3: the anti aging process of everything. And it's not just
- 25:23Speaker 3: protein for the muscles. People think it's just like, oh
- 25:26Speaker 3: I'm eating that, I'm gonna have you. No, you need
- 25:29Speaker 3: protein for everything in your bodies a lot of organs
- 25:31Speaker 3: they you know, it's and it keeps you, it keeps
- 25:34Speaker 3: you young, it keeps you good. So focusing on every
- 25:39Speaker 3: meal that at least to have forty grams of fleam
- 25:42Speaker 3: protein and then the rest would come with it. But
- 25:47Speaker 3: you know, controlling and understanding the carrieres, where are coming
- 25:50Speaker 3: from and what what am I eating? What am I
- 25:52Speaker 3: putting in my body? I mean just not just like
- 25:55Speaker 3: oh I'm gonna carry, defist or carry or I'm eating
- 26:00Speaker 3: to gain more. That also is very important to h
- 26:05Speaker 3: to sit with the certified nutrition or dietician and have
- 26:08Speaker 3: them understand, you know, teach you those major principles or
- 26:14Speaker 3: major things that will you know that will help you
- 26:19Speaker 3: when you are by yourself to know what to eat
- 26:22Speaker 3: and what choices to make. If you go out with
- 26:24Speaker 3: your friends, you know, you need to know what you
- 26:27Speaker 3: to order. You don't want to just order everything. You know,
- 26:31Speaker 3: so many restaurants also use those bad oils. You have
- 26:34Speaker 3: to be aware of that.
- 26:36Speaker 2: The see the seat oils.
- 26:38Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 26:38Speaker 1: But so the good news one stop shop with you
- 26:42Speaker 1: is that you're both a fitness trainer and the certified
- 26:45Speaker 1: nutrition so they get kind of the you know, the
- 26:48Speaker 1: the full.
- 26:52Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 26:52Speaker 1: So that's a big, just a big advantage of coming
- 26:55Speaker 1: to train with you.
- 26:57Speaker 2: So okay, so let's talk.
- 26:58Speaker 1: Let's drive a little deeper into protein because a lot
- 27:01Speaker 1: of misunderstandings about protein. So how do you teach somebody
- 27:06Speaker 1: to select the right protein and the protein that's going
- 27:11Speaker 1: to nourish their bodies and not hurt their bodies because
- 27:14Speaker 1: there's so many you know, you don't want.
- 27:16Speaker 2: To be eating regular.
- 27:20Speaker 1: Cows, for example, steaks that are not grass fed and
- 27:24Speaker 1: organic because you're now you're adding in all those grains
- 27:28Speaker 1: and the hormones that are you know. So you and
- 27:31Speaker 1: I know all about this, but a lot of people
- 27:33Speaker 1: are not aware and they go out and buy what
- 27:36Speaker 1: they think is a great steak at Costco, but it
- 27:39Speaker 1: can be or even the salmon. They've been showing recently
- 27:42Speaker 1: on the internet that a lot of the salmon that
- 27:45Speaker 1: you get at Costco has worms in it because it's
- 27:48Speaker 1: not it's farm raised, and it's it's not. So let's
- 27:54Speaker 1: let's let's give a little lesson, a little tutorial to
- 27:57Speaker 1: our viewers about selecting the right protein.
- 28:02Speaker 3: Well first, uh, first, all is you know, for example,
- 28:07Speaker 3: it comes to fish, anything farm raise, just just stay
- 28:14Speaker 3: away from it, no matter you know the Norwegian No,
- 28:18Speaker 3: I don't, I don't know. It has to it has
- 28:20Speaker 3: to be wild caught. It has to be a natural.
- 28:23Speaker 3: Then uh uh, it depends where you live. But most
- 28:27Speaker 3: of them, you know, to check the freshness, how how
- 28:30Speaker 3: long you can ask, hey, how long this has been here?
- 28:33Speaker 3: You know, that's that's important. Uh, majorly people. I mean
- 28:39Speaker 3: I think the most two sold salmon and telapia, and
- 28:43Speaker 3: you bet it's very important to get those wild. And
- 28:47Speaker 3: then if you if you see the videos how they
- 28:50Speaker 3: raise those fish farms, I guarantee you most people will
- 28:54Speaker 3: stop beating because it's really even you.
- 28:57Speaker 2: Wouldn't even want to eat it knowing what they.
- 28:59Speaker 3: Said, Yeah, it's kind of worse than the chicken for Yeah,
- 29:05Speaker 3: so that's one, you know. And then for example, like
- 29:10Speaker 3: read the label, make sure there's no gh no hormones,
- 29:13Speaker 3: no it doesn't have to be always just saying that
- 29:16Speaker 3: the label of organ has to be more everything is
- 29:20Speaker 3: more natural, like because some you know, sometimes you hear
- 29:25Speaker 3: of a lawsuits like oh they only say oh they
- 29:28Speaker 3: said it's natural, but sorry organic, but they don't specify much,
- 29:32Speaker 3: so we gotta be careful. I like you saida approved.
- 29:36Speaker 3: As for the red meat itself, uh, it's better to
- 29:41Speaker 3: pick the lean meat, okay, I mean unless you are
- 29:45Speaker 3: more on a Kito state, so you can get some
- 29:48Speaker 3: good New York steak or something. But of course controlling
- 29:52Speaker 3: that amount of fat entering your body is important. And
- 29:55Speaker 3: understanding that you got some fat from that media, so
- 29:59Speaker 3: you have to cut later the rest of your of
- 30:01Speaker 3: your calories always. You know, I prefer everyone measure. They
- 30:07Speaker 3: have a scale and they measure their food. You have
- 30:09Speaker 3: to measure your food. You have to know how much Okay,
- 30:13Speaker 3: I'm eating two hundred grams of chicken breast, you know,
- 30:17Speaker 3: so and so you have to know how much you're
- 30:20Speaker 3: getting from each and the way the way is you
- 30:25Speaker 3: either write them down or you have an app. Nowadays
- 30:28Speaker 3: they like apps, but you can always you can easily
- 30:30Speaker 3: memorize those after maybe a day or two because you're
- 30:33Speaker 3: going to be using them every day. So how much
- 30:36Speaker 3: protein is in two hundred grams of chicken? How much
- 30:39Speaker 3: protein is in a good lean steak. I say to everyone,
- 30:44Speaker 3: stay away from any sausages, pork, bacon that is not
- 30:50Speaker 3: good for your body, no matter there's many studies, there's
- 30:54Speaker 3: many everyone knows those are not healthy and they're they're
- 30:57Speaker 3: not gonna They're not gonna be good for you. And
- 31:02Speaker 3: if you really want to, if you are a person,
- 31:05Speaker 3: I mean, there's nothing like if you sorry, nothing wrong
- 31:08Speaker 3: eating some chicken legs everyone in a while, but again,
- 31:12Speaker 3: pick the free range, no hormone, no gh no, no
- 31:19Speaker 3: additives for the chicken, and measure it before cooking and
- 31:25Speaker 3: know how much you're going to eat on this plate.
- 31:28Speaker 3: For example, if you're outside ordering, ask the ask the
- 31:35Speaker 3: the waiter how much chicken is it? They tell you
- 31:40Speaker 3: six ounces? Eight ounces? Then you know, okay, eight ounces
- 31:43Speaker 3: has sixty grams of protein, because every two hundred grams
- 31:47Speaker 3: of meat has around sixty grams of protein. So that
- 31:52Speaker 3: you'll add and candy. So it's important. And if you're
- 31:56Speaker 3: a person, difference from one person to another another thing
- 31:59Speaker 3: I want to say, like some people do very good
- 32:01Speaker 3: with red meat. So they can eat it around three
- 32:04Speaker 3: times a week, there's no problem. I am a person
- 32:07Speaker 3: who doesn't do well with red meat. I only eat
- 32:09Speaker 3: it once a week, meaning I don't I don't feel
- 32:14Speaker 3: it's makes me feel a little bit uncomfortable. I also
- 32:19Speaker 3: tend to I tend to accumulate a body fat on it,
- 32:22Speaker 3: so it depends so I do. My body does better
- 32:29Speaker 3: with with with more like white meat, like white fish.
- 32:33Speaker 3: You know, chicken breast, turkey breast. Turkey breast is the
- 32:38Speaker 3: leanest and the highest in protein.
- 32:41Speaker 2: I always like to buy turkey fresh, not turkey, not ground.
- 32:44Speaker 3: Turkey, No exactly, I was just gonna say that, not ground,
- 32:50Speaker 3: I mentioned quickly, you know, even though I would say
- 32:53Speaker 3: sometimes okay, it's ninety percent or ten percent on the
- 32:56Speaker 3: label of the ground. I don't like the ground the
- 32:59Speaker 3: way they do it in big industrial stuff because they
- 33:02Speaker 3: put many.
- 33:04Speaker 2: It's more processed. And that chicken, though it puts a chicken.
- 33:10Speaker 1: Excuse me for interrupting, but I just don't want to
- 33:12Speaker 1: forget to say this, but with the chicken, you know,
- 33:15Speaker 1: I go to.
- 33:17Speaker 2: Like Whole Foods as an example, and I get.
- 33:19Speaker 1: The air chilled Mary's Mary's Organic air chilled chicken. It's
- 33:25Speaker 1: a little more expensive, but you are getting air chilled,
- 33:29Speaker 1: and that means they haven't dunk dunked it in chlorine,
- 33:33Speaker 1: which is you know sometimes a lot of these meats
- 33:37Speaker 1: are put into some chemicals to preserve them, but the
- 33:41Speaker 1: air chilled it, you know, prevents that. So that would
- 33:44Speaker 1: be my tip to everyone is if you're going to
- 33:46Speaker 1: buy chicken, you know, the best one is the white meat,
- 33:49Speaker 1: the chicken breast and or I always sometimes I buy
- 33:53Speaker 1: the whole chicken and then I make bone broth.
- 33:56Speaker 2: By you know, using the chickens.
- 33:59Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, that's that's that's a great way. That's how
- 34:03Speaker 3: you know, my grandma and my mom would do it,
- 34:05Speaker 3: you know, and they would buy the chicken, take the bars,
- 34:08Speaker 3: and then the US will make it soup or especially
- 34:12Speaker 3: you know you can tell yeah, because the chicken is
- 34:15Speaker 3: not that big, right, right.
- 34:19Speaker 2: I mean, you can buy bone broth without doing it
- 34:22Speaker 2: the old.
- 34:23Speaker 1: Fashioned way, but it's not nearly as efficacious as doing
- 34:27Speaker 1: it right from the actual chicken instead of buying it
- 34:31Speaker 1: after somebody.
- 34:31Speaker 3: It's more fresh, more fresh if you did yourself. Yeah.
- 34:36Speaker 1: So okay, So what why is it that some people
- 34:40Speaker 1: no matter what they do, they think they're doing everything right,
- 34:44Speaker 1: but they still can't change your body composition. What's what's happening?
- 34:49Speaker 1: Is this a hormonal thing? What what do you think
- 34:51Speaker 1: is happening that causes people to get stuck even though
- 34:55Speaker 1: they're doing everything you tell them to do, but they
- 34:59Speaker 1: don't seem to, you know, be able to make.
- 35:03Speaker 2: Progress at least not to their satisfaction.
- 35:07Speaker 3: Uh. I mean if if they're really eating on point,
- 35:11Speaker 3: I don't think I don't think it would be a problem.
- 35:14Speaker 3: But sometimes again it would be back to I would say,
- 35:20Speaker 3: good sleep is very important. You know, people underestimate sleep,
- 35:25Speaker 3: but sleep is where your body hormones or you know, badness,
- 35:31Speaker 3: you know, one of the best. You know.
- 35:34Speaker 1: Another thing to Alex that related to sleep is stress
- 35:39Speaker 1: and a lot of people have trouble sleeping because.
- 35:41Speaker 2: They're under so much stress.
- 35:43Speaker 1: But but stress is you know, created creates cortisol, and
- 35:47Speaker 1: cortisol is the fat hormone. So of course you're going
- 35:51Speaker 1: to have trouble losing changing your body comp if you're
- 35:55Speaker 1: if you're constantly uh stressed.
- 35:58Speaker 2: So and then what about you.
- 36:00Speaker 1: Know, let's just say substance abuse. What about alcohol or
- 36:03Speaker 1: pharmaceutical drives.
- 36:04Speaker 3: Oh yeah, no, no, that that that from the beginning,
- 36:09Speaker 3: you gotta you gotta. Alcoholism will not be your friend
- 36:13Speaker 3: if you're if you if you're looking for results no
- 36:17Speaker 3: matter what it is, even if you drink once a week.
- 36:19Speaker 3: If you want to be always like, if you seeking
- 36:24Speaker 3: really seeking the results you want and you want to
- 36:28Speaker 3: keep them and maintain them and maintain your life and healthy,
- 36:31Speaker 3: healthy state, you have to stay you have to stay
- 36:34Speaker 3: away from alcohol. And it's very like you can read
- 36:38Speaker 3: so many successful stories from all the celebrities that people
- 36:44Speaker 3: would follow and like and have their like, you know,
- 36:46Speaker 3: as the influence in their life. Most of them or
- 36:49Speaker 3: all of them, they don't drink. They may go and
- 36:52Speaker 3: socialize and stay like they would have sparkling drink or
- 36:55Speaker 3: whatever standing by people, but they don't drink.
- 36:58Speaker 2: And I yea, And what about sugar? Sugar? Sugar is
- 37:03Speaker 2: the big.
- 37:05Speaker 3: Depends It depends you know, you know, okay, processed sugar,
- 37:09Speaker 3: refine sugars, that's that you don't that is like you know,
- 37:16Speaker 3: it's like you're putting you put it, yeah, exactly, process
- 37:21Speaker 3: refine refine food that you know, there's a lot of
- 37:25Speaker 3: of of those hidden in the food. So that's why
- 37:28Speaker 3: you need I tell my client, you got to read
- 37:30Speaker 3: the label. You gotta be careful and aware always, you know,
- 37:34Speaker 3: stay with withdraw withraw like food as it as it is,
- 37:38Speaker 3: like not more than three four ingredients in your plate
- 37:42Speaker 3: or buying. But you know, if you if you're someone
- 37:47Speaker 3: who is asking you, you know some like I need,
- 37:50Speaker 3: for example, extra amount of carries in a day or
- 37:55Speaker 3: in this certain day, So you have to be aware,
- 37:58Speaker 3: like okay, how much I'm putting in my body and
- 38:02Speaker 3: and you know where am I getting them from? I
- 38:05Speaker 3: prefer if you stick to fruits and simple things that
- 38:09Speaker 3: you know. You know, because pizza it's good to eat
- 38:12Speaker 3: it every once in a while, no problem, but nowhere
- 38:14Speaker 3: where is it? What is it done? How is you know?
- 38:18Speaker 3: Go to a good chef somewhere where you know. I
- 38:21Speaker 3: was recently in Italy and I was doing so I
- 38:26Speaker 3: so there the food is. You know, you need to
- 38:29Speaker 3: be discared, but you know you have to eat the pizza.
- 38:31Speaker 3: You cannot not eat it, but then that you have
- 38:34Speaker 3: to calculate with the rest of your of your calories.
- 38:39Speaker 2: Right.
- 38:40Speaker 1: But yet it's interesting to me that these people who
- 38:43Speaker 1: have celiac or you know some you know gluten, they're
- 38:48Speaker 1: all having to be gluten free here in the US.
- 38:50Speaker 1: And then they go over to Europe where the wheat
- 38:53Speaker 1: is not sprayed with life to say it, and uh,
- 38:56Speaker 1: you know other horrible chemicals, and somehow there there weak
- 39:02Speaker 1: intolerance disappears. And so there is something to be said
- 39:07Speaker 1: about Italy, like you said, where you can eat the
- 39:10Speaker 1: pasta or eat the pizza and not have the same
- 39:14Speaker 1: reaction as you would hear where these carbohydrates are are
- 39:21Speaker 1: sprayed or you.
- 39:23Speaker 3: Know, well, there is some truth to that, but I
- 39:27Speaker 3: would say not that much. You know, there's some truth
- 39:30Speaker 3: to that, but people over exaggerated. I think people here
- 39:33Speaker 3: don't know. Most of them, they either don't know what
- 39:36Speaker 3: they're doing, they don't know what they're eating. Just they
- 39:40Speaker 3: follow they follow Instagrams and YouTubers whatever they tell, Oh,
- 39:43Speaker 3: I have glutens, I don't have to. So I say,
- 39:47Speaker 3: you know, nowadays you don't guess. You test. You know,
- 39:50Speaker 3: you're able to test many things in your body, gene tests,
- 39:55Speaker 3: food sensitivity, and then there's one thing, okay, if you can't.
- 39:59Speaker 3: If you can't that as a certain type of food,
- 40:01Speaker 3: and you really would like to eat it. Then there's
- 40:03Speaker 3: digestive enzymes, so you use digestive inzymes. I guarantee you
- 40:08Speaker 3: fifty percent of the people they think they're gluten in
- 40:11Speaker 3: TOI and they're they're okay, but they're not. They just
- 40:14Speaker 3: don't know what they're doing, you know, And I'm sorry.
- 40:17Speaker 3: It's very like the same thing with others. Oh there
- 40:20Speaker 3: is not good says who you heard it somewhere? But
- 40:24Speaker 3: you did, you did you really test yourself if you're
- 40:27Speaker 3: okay with it or not? So not that much, you know,
- 40:33Speaker 3: you know, carriers are carries. You know you have if
- 40:37Speaker 3: you but where they are coming from, how is the
- 40:40Speaker 3: food being done? That's you need them to go four
- 40:43Speaker 3: years of nutrition and university then you can know. But
- 40:46Speaker 3: of course having someone in your corner, like a certified
- 40:49Speaker 3: dietition nutrition will help you understand stuff and you know,
- 40:53Speaker 3: be aware of what you want to eat or what's
- 40:57Speaker 3: out there. That's very important you have, but not not
- 41:00Speaker 3: the all sugars are the way they say, Oh, then
- 41:03Speaker 3: you end up so many people don't don't know what
- 41:06Speaker 3: they're even they like, they don't know what they want
- 41:10Speaker 3: to eat. In the end, you know, no, it's major
- 41:17Speaker 3: and carbodies are are very major in nutrition. That's very important.
- 41:23Speaker 3: You're not going to be able to have that much
- 41:26Speaker 3: amount of energy if you're not eating that.
- 41:30Speaker 2: So I mean the brain. The brain is a good example.
- 41:34Speaker 2: You know, it needs carbohydrates and fat.
- 41:38Speaker 1: And people you know who are on these fat free
- 41:41Speaker 1: diets or are starving their their brains. Tell me quickly,
- 41:47Speaker 1: tell me quickly what you think of the keto diet
- 41:50Speaker 1: and whether you use that yourself with for yourself and
- 41:54Speaker 1: for your clients.
- 41:56Speaker 3: You know, kido diet as you know from from a
- 41:59Speaker 3: body building aspect. We used to do it way before
- 42:01Speaker 3: it became known as kito. You know, we we we
- 42:05Speaker 3: as we do like high protein, very minimum of fat
- 42:11Speaker 3: the last couple of weeks and then sorry, very minimum
- 42:14Speaker 3: of carboy drate and and decent amount of fat the
- 42:18Speaker 3: last couple of weeks, so we can really help our
- 42:22Speaker 3: body tap into whatever left so you can get to it. So,
- 42:25Speaker 3: but you know, lately, over the last ten years or whatever,
- 42:29Speaker 3: it is the kid that I gained more more like
- 42:34Speaker 3: you know, attention and became more famous because of whatever
- 42:41Speaker 3: algorithm at that time was. So it has its place.
- 42:46Speaker 3: You have to know how to get into kito and
- 42:48Speaker 3: get out of kito some people. You know, if you
- 42:51Speaker 3: really don't want to get out of it, you have
- 42:53Speaker 3: to just understand that you're allowed to eat around ten
- 42:57Speaker 3: percent of your daily care from car boy. It's not
- 43:00Speaker 3: wrong to eat it, but always keeping keeping like I
- 43:06Speaker 3: said important, you have to know how to get into
- 43:09Speaker 3: it and get in your place where you will be like, okay,
- 43:12Speaker 3: now I'm putting my body in Kostosi's state. But I
- 43:17Speaker 3: think it's amazing for people who want to lose weight.
- 43:21Speaker 3: But keep keep track of your blood, you know, because
- 43:25Speaker 3: some people will at the beginning the drug restaurant will
- 43:29Speaker 3: shoot up. So then the doctor will freak out and
- 43:32Speaker 3: the doctor is not aware, Oh what are you doing?
- 43:35Speaker 3: No take this so I like it. It's no, there's
- 43:40Speaker 3: nothing wrong with it. If you, if you, if you,
- 43:43Speaker 3: if you digest very well and you're okay with it. Now,
- 43:46Speaker 3: how long do you want to stay with it? That's
- 43:47Speaker 3: your's and go back to the it can.
- 43:54Speaker 1: It can affect the kidneys to and you know, some
- 43:57Speaker 1: people overdo it. And then there again, like as you
- 43:59Speaker 1: said earlier, we need carbohydrates. So when you go on
- 44:04Speaker 1: like an all or nothing and you're eating mostly fat.
- 44:08Speaker 1: You're now you know you're imbalancing, You're going to be balanced.
- 44:14Speaker 3: That's why, that's why the Mediterranean diet is the best
- 44:18Speaker 3: diet forever, yeah, most of the people, because it's a
- 44:23Speaker 3: balanced one, you know, you get your good Yeah.
- 44:31Speaker 1: No, I think the Mediterranean diet is the most balanced.
- 44:36Speaker 1: And of course, you know, you look over to Greece
- 44:38Speaker 1: and the you know, the Blue zones Acaria and Greece,
- 44:43Speaker 1: and you know, these people eat a lot of olive oil,
- 44:47Speaker 1: you know, obviously a lot of very authentic beef and
- 44:52Speaker 1: other fish, lots and lots of fish, of course because
- 44:55Speaker 1: they get it fresh.
- 44:57Speaker 2: And then but they do eat carbohydrates, you.
- 45:00Speaker 5: Know, and I natural stuff, you know, all the Mediterrane, Italy, Lebanon, Grease,
- 45:08Speaker 5: uh playing, the Morocco, Tunisia.
- 45:12Speaker 3: They have the best olive oil in Tunisia. So all that.
- 45:16Speaker 3: But you know when I when I immigrated here years
- 45:19Speaker 3: and years ago, i'm i'm I was. Of course I
- 45:24Speaker 3: was already here like in fitness, but I only eat like,
- 45:28Speaker 3: you know, simple stuff like this is how we like.
- 45:31Speaker 3: We eat, like one tooth rice and chicken, some beef
- 45:35Speaker 3: and side of side of a good cell with olive oil,
- 45:39Speaker 3: like simple stuff. But and then I remember, you know,
- 45:43Speaker 3: I get hungry here over there, I go grab the
- 45:45Speaker 3: sand you go grab the thing, and all of a
- 45:47Speaker 3: sudden I look on my scale. I'm like, wow, that's
- 45:50Speaker 3: another I've gained seven pounds, which is I wasn't able
- 45:53Speaker 3: to read it. But are these reading mustards. There's no way.
- 45:57Speaker 3: There's something weird here. But but the sandwich itself. Here,
- 46:02Speaker 3: you get a sandwich, you will have so many layers
- 46:05Speaker 3: of whatever they put in it, like cheese and this
- 46:07Speaker 3: and that, and then the salary will be like a
- 46:10Speaker 3: thousand one sandary is a thousand carrier plus, and then
- 46:14Speaker 3: you want to eat something on the side as another
- 46:16Speaker 3: two hundred car so you end up with one meal
- 46:19Speaker 3: getting twelve twelve hundred to fifteen hundred calories, and that's
- 46:24Speaker 3: one mede and the end of our you end the
- 46:25Speaker 3: day by five thousand carriages. And you and you wonder
- 46:28Speaker 3: why we're on a bee's nation, because because of everything
- 46:33Speaker 3: is extra extra here, extra there, extra big, extra carrier.
- 46:37Speaker 3: It's always like it's much better to stick to simple
- 46:47Speaker 3: food like one, one, two three and that's it, and
- 46:50Speaker 3: then wait for your body to digest it. And then
- 46:54Speaker 3: maybe five five hours later you eat another and that's it.
- 46:58Speaker 3: You're not supposed to be eating so much every day. Actually,
- 47:01Speaker 3: you're over. You're over.
- 47:04Speaker 1: That's a that's an American thing too, that you know,
- 47:07Speaker 1: we snack, whereas in Europe, you know, they you know,
- 47:11Speaker 1: three times maybe and.
- 47:14Speaker 2: And it's maybe they don't eat between meals.
- 47:19Speaker 3: No snacking is Snacking actually makes your insulin always most
- 47:24Speaker 3: of the time, you know, it makes your body less
- 47:27Speaker 3: insert sensitive and makes your insert always high because every
- 47:30Speaker 3: time you're eating, you're making your body digest that hormones
- 47:33Speaker 3: are always affected. So you're almost putting yourself in a
- 47:36Speaker 3: non fat burning state as well. You need to to
- 47:39Speaker 3: just give your body food, let it digest. And that
- 47:42Speaker 3: time probably you're moving, you're working, you're you're studying, so
- 47:46Speaker 3: that you give your body time to work on what
- 47:50Speaker 3: you put in it. Right, So, but getting a snack
- 47:55Speaker 3: here and there, and also it's better if you really
- 47:58Speaker 3: want a snack, snack with some natural of like here,
- 48:01Speaker 3: take a green apple, take some strawberry. Not like, okay,
- 48:04Speaker 3: let me take a protein, but that will have even
- 48:07Speaker 3: not the proteinma let me take some some doughnut or something,
- 48:11Speaker 3: and that has refined stuff or like we eat here
- 48:14Speaker 3: and there, chips and all those things are accumulated in
- 48:18Speaker 3: the body and eventually they catch up either fast for
- 48:22Speaker 3: you or they would cause you some some trouble. And
- 48:25Speaker 3: when you age and and.
- 48:28Speaker 1: Alice, do you approach nutrition differently if you have different goals,
- 48:32Speaker 1: Like let's just say if you had fat loss versus
- 48:36Speaker 1: performance versus you have those.
- 48:40Speaker 2: Let's say those are three possible goals.
- 48:45Speaker 3: Of course you have to you know, every every every
- 48:48Speaker 3: individual has to like it will have to be for
- 48:51Speaker 3: for them exactly. And and how how how many days
- 48:55Speaker 3: a week they can perform or exercise, how's their sleep?
- 49:00Speaker 3: How many meals they are normally eating? Before we fix that,
- 49:05Speaker 3: it should be like, you know, a better way for
- 49:08Speaker 3: their body. I like to if there can my clients,
- 49:12Speaker 3: I ask them for tests because once I get the
- 49:16Speaker 3: test result, it's way better to minimize the margin of
- 49:21Speaker 3: gene tests and blood tests and know what's happening. And Okay, I'm.
- 49:25Speaker 1: So happy that you said genetics tests because a lot
- 49:27Speaker 1: of people forget that the foundation of knowledge for your
- 49:31Speaker 1: health is to first understand your genetics, not to say
- 49:35Speaker 1: that that's a death sentence. Let's just say you have
- 49:37Speaker 1: the APO for you know, Alzheimer's gene. That doesn't mean
- 49:41Speaker 1: you're going to get Alzheimer's.
- 49:42Speaker 2: But it's really important to have. Like I always call
- 49:45Speaker 2: it like.
- 49:46Speaker 1: Building the foundation of the house. You wouldn't build a
- 49:49Speaker 1: house without a foundation. Well, your genetics are your foundational parameters,
- 49:56Speaker 1: so you get to know a little bit about what
- 49:58Speaker 1: you're predisposed whether are you meth later do you need
- 50:02Speaker 1: methalated envitamins?
- 50:03Speaker 2: And are you allergic to dairy as an example, you.
- 50:08Speaker 3: Know that's yeah, and you know also that it gives
- 50:13Speaker 3: you what's what workouts are good for you. I remember
- 50:16Speaker 3: I almost knew what it is but my workout, but
- 50:19Speaker 3: that was after twelve years of guessing versus going and
- 50:23Speaker 3: doing them. Like I got the resultant, it makes sense.
- 50:26Speaker 3: I feel better doing what I was doing lately versus
- 50:29Speaker 3: what I was doing two three body parts a day
- 50:32Speaker 3: and then again repeat. And so for example, my test
- 50:36Speaker 3: came like, okay, you should be doing three times a
- 50:39Speaker 3: week AWAIT training which was not more than fifteen minutes
- 50:43Speaker 3: DA DA, and then the next day focus on more
- 50:46Speaker 3: and doing and stuff. So it will really give you
- 50:49Speaker 3: almost a game plan for life and if you really
- 50:52Speaker 3: apply those and stay away from what like, for example,
- 50:56Speaker 3: food that makes you feel uncomfortable, and then you really
- 50:59Speaker 3: will be in a place where you're feeling very good
- 51:03Speaker 3: and feeling good then like I said in the beginning,
- 51:06Speaker 3: you'll be able to perform and be creative and what's
- 51:09Speaker 3: better you want?
- 51:11Speaker 1: So I think you just answered that question and really
- 51:14Speaker 1: the difference of performance, longevity, and fat loss those three
- 51:19Speaker 1: I was just using those as three three legged stool
- 51:22Speaker 1: of fitness.
- 51:24Speaker 2: If you had those three and.
- 51:27Speaker 1: You know you were trying to separate them out, that
- 51:30Speaker 1: they really don't separate.
- 51:31Speaker 2: They're really like it's a collective that you.
- 51:33Speaker 1: Will do all the same things for all three end
- 51:36Speaker 1: results and you'll get them if you follow those instructions.
- 51:41Speaker 1: So okay, so let's let's talk a little bit about peptides.
- 51:47Speaker 1: Because you're in the bodybuilding business. You've been in it
- 51:51Speaker 1: for many, many years. I mean bodybuilders were using peptides
- 51:55Speaker 1: and growth hormone and all that, you know, long before.
- 51:58Speaker 2: The even knew what a peptide was.
- 52:02Speaker 1: So how how have you used pep guides to improve
- 52:07Speaker 1: your overall fitness or have you ah?
- 52:13Speaker 3: To be honest, I would be.
- 52:17Speaker 2: You know.
- 52:19Speaker 3: I only would do that if if if, if, if
- 52:21Speaker 3: the doctor would, if my doctor would say, okay, you
- 52:24Speaker 3: can I have some you know what do you You'll
- 52:28Speaker 3: be able to do simple stuff. But I wouldn't just
- 52:31Speaker 3: go online and buy whatever I've read somewhere, like for example,
- 52:37Speaker 3: you know now there may be less because the government
- 52:39Speaker 3: is tackling them like SARMs. Those are very bad. You
- 52:42Speaker 3: don't know what in it. I don't recommend nobody to
- 52:45Speaker 3: use them, even when I'm asked about as I stay
- 52:47Speaker 3: away from it. As far as for the peptize, there's
- 52:52Speaker 3: only few that really uh, you know, kind of like
- 52:56Speaker 3: F the A. I want to say, like maybe not
- 52:59Speaker 3: have they approved, but there's maybe two R but the
- 53:02Speaker 3: rest are really anti aging. And if if you're working
- 53:05Speaker 3: with her, you can always have a consultation with an
- 53:08Speaker 3: anti aging doctor and they can tell you okay this
- 53:12Speaker 3: and that is always good for you. Like some moreland,
- 53:16Speaker 3: I put moreland. Uh. I will be honest with you.
- 53:21Speaker 3: Back in the days when I wasn't, like you know,
- 53:24Speaker 3: one of my friends is a mister olympy said you
- 53:27Speaker 3: got to take this so you can eat more, and
- 53:31Speaker 3: like I don't want to take it. They're don take it,
- 53:33Speaker 3: take it. You can eat more ats. So I took it.
- 53:35Speaker 3: I couldn't stop eating. That was the I think the
- 53:38Speaker 3: CGH that was the only time CG C. I think
- 53:44Speaker 3: that was so I didn't buy it, he gave it
- 53:47Speaker 3: to me. But yeah, they have a great way of
- 53:51Speaker 3: keeping you like you know, keep you your body. Lets uh,
- 53:57Speaker 3: I want to say, like recover better and kind of
- 54:00Speaker 3: like feeling feeling younger in a way. There's nothing wrong
- 54:06Speaker 3: of using nothing wrong using them under the recommendation of
- 54:11Speaker 3: an of an endochronology.
- 54:15Speaker 2: Yeah, because so many people today, because it's become the
- 54:18Speaker 2: wild wild well, so many people are buying these things
- 54:21Speaker 2: from China and not being supervised by medical even here.
- 54:26Speaker 3: I mean, you don't know, you don't know where they're
- 54:29Speaker 3: making them, like you know those trainers or whatever influencers
- 54:33Speaker 3: they're selling from website that they approach them, but oh
- 54:38Speaker 3: use my code or this, And I mean I I've
- 54:40Speaker 3: been approached maybe five six times with these companies. I'm like,
- 54:43Speaker 3: there's no way I would go. And endorsets think, are
- 54:46Speaker 3: you crazy? Yeah, and trust me, I'll say something quickly.
- 54:50Speaker 3: Trust me. The government is going to come after those Actually,
- 54:53Speaker 3: if you are someone who's saying in mass you are
- 54:56Speaker 3: you are in trouble. But if you are a user,
- 54:59Speaker 3: not much. That's why I stay under the recommendation of
- 55:03Speaker 3: a doctor.
- 55:04Speaker 2: But the good news is with Robert F.
- 55:06Speaker 1: Kennedy, he's letting fourteen of the nineteen that we're taking
- 55:11Speaker 1: off the market for compounding pharmacies.
- 55:13Speaker 2: He's let he's letting. By the end of the year,
- 55:15Speaker 2: they'll be back and legally able to Yeah.
- 55:18Speaker 3: I heard that. Yeah, that would changed like.
- 55:21Speaker 1: The landscape, because that will reduce the number of those
- 55:25Speaker 1: counterfeit types that are just going to make a book,
- 55:29Speaker 1: and it will put it back where it's scientifically much better.
- 55:35Speaker 3: It's much better to be this way then, rather than
- 55:38Speaker 3: being like the wild widress like you said. Actually, g
- 55:41Speaker 3: LP one is a peptide, you know, so if we
- 55:43Speaker 3: are selling that, why don't we let people use also
- 55:47Speaker 3: ipomorians some moreland and you know there's there's there's another
- 55:52Speaker 3: It can help you with your your sorry, your skin,
- 55:56Speaker 3: keep your colleage.
- 55:58Speaker 1: G HK c U.
- 55:59Speaker 3: Yeah, Yeah, that's that's really I mean, of course there's not.
- 56:04Speaker 3: The thing is no one's started a study on it,
- 56:07Speaker 3: like a long study because it costs money and stuff.
- 56:10Speaker 3: But that is a great peptide for example.
- 56:14Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure. And then testimoraland is the other one.
- 56:18Speaker 2: And then of course you have the immune.
- 56:21Speaker 1: Modulators of thymus and l for one, which helps your
- 56:25Speaker 1: immune system to be stronger. You know, people should understand
- 56:28Speaker 1: the peptides are signaling molecules, so they are amino acids.
- 56:35Speaker 3: Yeah, so they're not even the even even the gh
- 56:38Speaker 3: is one nine. It's a compound of amino acids, a
- 56:43Speaker 3: lot of am I mean, one of one of the
- 56:46Speaker 3: things that command my clients, you know what, get eas
- 56:50Speaker 3: and get on the side, get an argent orthene and
- 56:55Speaker 3: take them take a lot of those every day and
- 56:57Speaker 3: see how your body is going to be total friend
- 57:01Speaker 3: and said, so what about creating.
- 57:04Speaker 2: That's the one that we haven't talked about yet.
- 57:06Speaker 1: But how do you how do you dose creating with
- 57:10Speaker 1: your clients and and what do you tell them about
- 57:13Speaker 1: which one to buy?
- 57:15Speaker 3: I love how much creating became famous all finally, you know,
- 57:19Speaker 3: you know, during the pandemic, I got this phone called
- 57:22Speaker 3: because I'm having involved in the sports industry and I
- 57:25Speaker 3: work in it and on the side, and I used
- 57:28Speaker 3: to work for opt Nutrition and I'll tell you quickly.
- 57:30Speaker 3: I got this phone called and look, I need an
- 57:33Speaker 3: order for four million dollars? Can you get it for me?
- 57:35Speaker 3: I said, what you want? It's like four million dollars
- 57:37Speaker 3: of creating. What am I going to get you that?
- 57:40Speaker 3: During the pandemic? So it was it was like, you know,
- 57:45Speaker 3: it's good that people now that they're all about creating, creating.
- 57:48Speaker 3: I always do. I would say, get it creating from
- 57:51Speaker 3: Creer Pure. It's a it's a pattern that it's actually
- 57:55Speaker 3: a German company. They're creating monohydrate is pure and it
- 58:00Speaker 3: then it comes from good sources. That's where you want
- 58:03Speaker 3: what you want now, if you're eating enough, if you're
- 58:06Speaker 3: eating the cray A pure el.
- 58:11Speaker 2: What was the name of that company? I could I
- 58:13Speaker 2: couldn't catch.
- 58:13Speaker 3: Up crap Pure from Germany.
- 58:19Speaker 1: It's okay, okay, I want to I just want to
- 58:23Speaker 1: have my assistant put that in the show notes because
- 58:25Speaker 1: people may do you can.
- 58:26Speaker 2: You buy it here locally or do you have to
- 58:28Speaker 2: go to Germany together?
- 58:29Speaker 3: No? No, no, it's it's it's actually the one of
- 58:32Speaker 3: the biggest manufacturing companies for creating. So they Crepure, for example,
- 58:38Speaker 3: sells op To nutrition or muscle tech or all these
- 58:42Speaker 3: brands that so when you buy a creating you see
- 58:46Speaker 3: on the label and small it's pure. That's a trademark,
- 58:51Speaker 3: so they have to say it. Yeah, I'd say stick,
- 58:56Speaker 3: I say stick to creating monohydrate. You don't have to
- 59:00Speaker 3: go with that. And but you know, for that to
- 59:02Speaker 3: be able to for your body to be able to
- 59:04Speaker 3: absorb it, it has to be mixed with either your
- 59:07Speaker 3: protein or a little bit of sugar and water for
- 59:09Speaker 3: the absorption. Otherwise, if you just mix it with water,
- 59:13Speaker 3: it's not going to be absorbed. So it takes some honey.
- 59:17Speaker 3: Take it, everybody.
- 59:19Speaker 1: Yeah, what I've been doing is I take cocao, you know,
- 59:24Speaker 1: the real organic good cocao, and then I take my
- 59:28Speaker 1: perfect aminos, a scoop of the perfect aminos, a scoop
- 59:32Speaker 1: of creatine.
- 59:34Speaker 2: Whatever the little scoop is it comes up.
- 59:36Speaker 1: I buy the thorn, the one thorn, and then I
- 59:41Speaker 1: put some collagen in, you know, just in an other
- 59:44Speaker 1: Wise I try to make like a protein drink. That's
- 59:47Speaker 1: but it tastes like a chocolate, you know, like a
- 59:50Speaker 1: chocolate like you're drinking cocoa, but it has all that
- 59:55Speaker 1: good protein in it. So and that's like you can
- 59:57Speaker 1: do that, you know, instead of having breakfas, you're getting
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: all that wonderful protein and the creating.
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: So well, he just.
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: Our producer just flagged me that we're running out of time.
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: So let me ask you how people can reach you
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: if they wanted to come and do a session. And
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: do you do any like preliminary trials with people where
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: they get to come and experience you the first time,
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: or how does it work?
- 1:00:27Speaker 2: How does your program work?
- 1:00:29Speaker 3: Well? You can find me online by on Instagram The
- 1:00:35Speaker 3: trainer Alex, The Trainer Alex. My website is Fitness Results
- 1:00:40Speaker 3: okay okay, and my website is Fitness Results Coaches, Fitness
- 1:00:44Speaker 3: Results Coach. Even if you google my name Alex Jamal,
- 1:00:48Speaker 3: you'll be able to have a contact of me. I
- 1:00:53Speaker 3: mean I do online training, I do in person training.
- 1:00:55Speaker 3: If you're nearby me and you'd like to come and
- 1:00:58Speaker 3: see me. So I have a nice private studio. I
- 1:01:04Speaker 3: work with the client one on one, no interruption, there's
- 1:01:08Speaker 3: nothing that will affect our workout. And uh yeah, pretty much.
- 1:01:14Speaker 3: I mean they can have a we have a quick
- 1:01:16Speaker 3: phone call consultation before and then from there we will
- 1:01:20Speaker 3: see how it goes and take it to a session.
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: So if you were to give one piece of advice
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: to someone who wants to improve their their fitness level
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: and whether.
- 1:01:37Speaker 2: They work with you or not, that you wanted to
- 1:01:39Speaker 2: give them one little secret.
- 1:01:42Speaker 3: Chip chip, what.
- 1:01:43Speaker 2: Would that be?
- 1:01:47Speaker 3: Okay, I'll list them quickly and but make think about it.
- 1:01:51Speaker 3: It's one. Never stop exercising and never go three days
- 1:01:56Speaker 3: without exercising. Sleep well, stay away from alcohol and refined sugar,
- 1:02:03Speaker 3: be very well hydrated. Hydration is under estimated. It is
- 1:02:06Speaker 3: very important.
- 1:02:07Speaker 2: That's it. That's very well. That's sit in a nutshell
- 1:02:12Speaker 2: and you probably want to add stress to reduce your.
- 1:02:17Speaker 3: Sleep will help you reduce that. So exercise and sleep
- 1:02:21Speaker 3: is the best for lowering stress and depression. So once
- 1:02:24Speaker 3: you get those good that's why I said stay away
- 1:02:27Speaker 3: from refined you and alcohol because that will affect your system.
- 1:02:31Speaker 3: Then you'll be fine for the rest of that.
- 1:02:34Speaker 2: So so like for me, I work out at the gym.
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: I have a gym in my house, but I do
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: only it's mostly aerobic, you know, said stationary bike.
- 1:02:43Speaker 2: I have a power play how they.
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: Uh what it called?
- 1:02:51Speaker 2: I forgot the name of that one anyway, So I
- 1:02:55Speaker 2: have a few pieces of.
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: Equipment, but then I go to the big I call
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: it the big gym, and I go there usually three
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: times a week.
- 1:03:03Speaker 2: So is that enough every other day for that great weights?
- 1:03:07Speaker 2: And then and then every day and then I try
- 1:03:10Speaker 2: to hike.
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: And you know, when it's warmer weather like now, so
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: I add to my thirty minutes of let's say the
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: stationary bike, I would add another forty five minutes of hiking.
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: And then on those three days of the week, there's
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: a third leg, which is the physical the weights. So
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: but when I do the weights, I'm probably not nearly
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: as experienced about how to do them, but I just
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: use as much just as as as.
- 1:03:40Speaker 2: A female executive who is always in a hurry.
- 1:03:43Speaker 3: I use the machines.
- 1:03:45Speaker 2: I kind of cheat. I just use the machines. I
- 1:03:48Speaker 2: know that I can go use the freeways. Is that okay?
- 1:03:51Speaker 3: I mean that's okay because you're you're hitting more than
- 1:03:55Speaker 3: the minimum of of what's needed to exist side as
- 1:03:58Speaker 3: long as you resist you're feeling like you're chattnging your
- 1:04:01Speaker 3: body when you're lifting, then that counts. And then for
- 1:04:05Speaker 3: the rest of the days you're doing your cardiovuscatin. That's great.
- 1:04:09Speaker 3: So that's that's if you just maintain that, then you'll
- 1:04:13Speaker 3: be fine.
- 1:04:14Speaker 2: Okay, good. You know, Alex.
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: There's a company I met when I was at a
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: four a m in December and Las Vegas. It's called Shapescale,
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: and they happen to be located right here.
- 1:04:26Speaker 2: In San Francisco. But they do it's like an advanced
- 1:04:30Speaker 2: in body for your body.
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: Comp But they do a thing where they do you
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: get on a machine and it does it takes your
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: whole body and you know, instead of just being static
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: like the embody and so and then it tells you
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: your biological age, your fitness age.
- 1:04:49Speaker 2: It's really quite quite interesting.
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: You might want to look look them up. The CEO's
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: name is Alex. Another Alex. But you're right here in
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: San Francisco, so you know you can they and I
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: think they have a facility in La So it might
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: be one that would complement.
- 1:05:06Speaker 2: What you do if your clients were interested. And so
- 1:05:09Speaker 2: it's yes, Shapescale.
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: Thank you. You have been a great guest. It's been
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: a pleasure having you on the show and sharing the
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: conversation with our audience. We appreciate your time and your
