- 0:00New new podcast right now super excited.
- 0:02We got Brianna the O the OG podcast Co host enjoying her
- 0:07Diamond Head Hawaiian purified water and My Guy Andre, Mr.
- 0:14Privilege to bow Hunter. So folks.
- 0:17Out here and we're at Bushwhacker Archery Club.
- 0:23Fun spot. We did a little battle today.
- 0:25Oh yeah. How'd it go?
- 0:27Break it down. James was looking at my He's
- 0:33looking at my site tape and. Quite a bit.
- 0:37And that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
- 0:39Other than that, I lost first, she lost second, and he clearly
- 0:46won. But what's most important?
- 0:49Most importantly though, we had a whole heck of a lot of fun.
- 0:53And I really like, I mean, you'll see in the video, but I
- 0:56really like the range here. It's got some really unique 3D
- 0:59targets that are custom but yet really good and really cool with
- 1:04very consistent size like scoring rings, which I think is
- 1:07neat because a lot of times those custom targets are kind of
- 1:10hit or miss as far as like the scoring and these were legit so.
- 1:14Yeah, they're, they're geniuses out here.
- 1:16Like Willie is the club president here.
- 1:18He's been running it like before I was shooting and they get a
- 1:24group of guys out here and gals and there's a there's a main
- 1:27couple I'm blanking on their name right now, so please
- 1:29forgive me. They'll sit over here and I'll
- 1:31have a whole working party going, you know, freaking tear
- 1:33off the little canvas that will repack, remake and they make
- 1:36these shapes from scratch. Just their imagination and
- 1:40whatever materials they can find.
- 1:41That's what I was most impressed about.
- 1:43What's the like, the shape of like, the legs and arms?
- 1:47Yeah, that they had like to be able to stretch that fabric or
- 1:54or cut it in a size of what a that it's going to create.
- 1:56You know what looks like a a thigh.
- 1:59He's got a thigh and then he's got a little paw and like they
- 2:03shape them really well for cutting it out of just can't be.
- 2:08Look at the lion with the long freaking tail.
- 2:10Like they put some time and effort into that that I prop.
- 2:15You might have to pack that stuff down into the tail.
- 2:18Like, what do you got a little stick that you're just shoving
- 2:20it down there and. I think they maybe they rolled
- 2:23it I. Don't know.
- 2:27That does take time. So I think they're super cool
- 2:30and the little tiger one was probably my favorite.
- 2:32We didn't even shoot it, but it was very.
- 2:34Target. It was cool, yeah.
- 2:36Little little target was was super neat.
- 2:39Yeah, I liked it didn't happen like the real axis steer
- 2:41antlers, the ranges, you know, beautiful setting.
- 2:45It's it's awesome out here. And we, we haunted one of your,
- 2:50one of your spots that you like to go to and I'll drop the GPS
- 2:54coordinates right here. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. 21
- 2:57degrees 21° N, 157° W There you go.
- 3:01Yeah, talk about some terrain, though.
- 3:04Like I mean harsh terrain, but I enjoy it.
- 3:09I mean, it's probably realistically like the steepest
- 3:12country that I've haunted. Like you're hunting Cliff bands
- 3:16basically. How's that like because you're
- 3:19relatively you were at bow hunting.
- 3:21I mean, you can kind of go through how you got into it when
- 3:24you started, but like to cut your teeth on that stuff is the
- 3:28real deal. Yeah, I mean, it's so super
- 3:32steep. It's not just steep, but it's
- 3:33like steep and dangerous. Like if you slip, if you fall,
- 3:38you're talking in some places it's 2000 foot trop off was.
- 3:43That what you meant when you said like that lava rock is just
- 3:46not stable and I trusted it would be the biggest rock, like
- 3:50a a a small boulder size rock. And that thing is just it's not
- 3:55sticking. They don't weigh a lot at all.
- 3:56Like I probably could have picked, picked up a lot of them
- 3:59that would have normally looked like I could have, I even budged
- 4:03it and could have actually picked it up with two arms.
- 4:07They would just wobble. And then you get into like the
- 4:10small chunks of it that's like shale but bigger.
- 4:13Yeah, but if you just slip. I almost watched like one of my
- 4:19best friends die up there. So I'm at one spot a little bit
- 4:22further uphill and Jaycees. So as we're going, he sees some
- 4:27other goats and he's going to go after him and it looks like a
- 4:30very, very substantial rock. And then it just goes from
- 4:34underneath him and I'm like, Oh my God.
- 4:37Thankfully, Jay Masterson, shout out to you if you're watching.
- 4:40He's part goat. He like figured out a way to do
- 4:44his ninja magic and he he like caught hold of something.
- 4:47But yeah, it, it, it rolled away.
- 4:49So we were, there was a point in time, like you said, cutting my
- 4:53teeth out here. We were up there probably every
- 4:57weekend. We at least if we were like, not
- 5:03if we were not like out of here for work.
- 5:06If we were all in and there was a weekend, we would go up Pokua
- 5:10KR and we would hike and we would hike.
- 5:13We would dodge. We would dodge the bulls, we
- 5:15would dodge the dogs from the dog hunters, whatever other
- 5:19crazies we run into and then we make our way up there.
- 5:22So. Yeah, I mean, dude, the stuffs
- 5:24it's definitely have haunted steep stuff like in Utah and
- 5:29Montana, Arizona, some really steep stuff.
- 5:31But that's just like this. That particular spot is just
- 5:35different with those man's and like we went up after these
- 5:39goats and you don't even like realize really how steep it is
- 5:43until you go to like glass something or like pull your go
- 5:49pack like I'm pointing straight up my arrows bouncing off the
- 5:53rest that almost. And then when you turn around
- 5:56and come down, you're like, well, yeah, this is this is very
- 5:59steep. It's worse coming down.
- 6:01Oh, for sure. Yeah, way worse coming down.
- 6:03Especially all your stabilizing muscles are all tired.
- 6:06But that's why I love like I love living out here in Hawaii
- 6:10and bro, these, these Hawaiians, these locals out here, they are
- 6:14just built. Everybody says build different.
- 6:17Some of these guys will just bound up that mountain like like
- 6:20it's nothing from straight from the truck and they're just
- 6:23moving like 45 minutes. They're up there.
- 6:25Yeah, yeah, it's awesome, dude. 45 minutes.
- 6:30Crazy man. So how so you What year did you
- 6:34get into archery? Do you remember it?
- 6:36Was around like either 15 or 16. 20/15/2016 So you almost say
- 6:41yeah, so like a decade in basically.
- 6:43And then when did you pop your first video up on YouTube?
- 6:47Do you remember? Probably 20/20/2020 it was.
- 6:52It's hidden that video. You will never see it.
- 6:54Yeah. So it was, it was a video and I
- 6:59really only put it up because there was a question that there
- 7:01was something I was trying to figure out.
- 7:03Nobody else said. I couldn't find the answer on
- 7:05the interwebs. So once I figured it out, I just
- 7:08Crystal's holding probably Amari.
- 7:11Yep, baby Amari and she's like kind of cooing in the
- 7:15background. Video is super shaky and
- 7:18unstable and it went up to like 3000 views but no edit, just
- 7:22like straight up raw video upload.
- 7:25And I was like, OK, I think people have the same curiosity,
- 7:28or at least the things that I'm curious about seems to make
- 7:31decent content and just start plugging it in there.
- 7:35That's awesome. Yeah.
- 7:37Did you? I mean I know you haven't posted
- 7:39on YouTube as much recently. I think your last video was like
- 7:427 months ago when I looked. But you've been like you said
- 7:45doing YouTube for a long time and you've done a lot of videos
- 7:48for sure. Do you enjoy the process of
- 7:52actually like filming and editing?
- 7:54Do you like that and your it's into Dollar Tree?
- 7:56I do it's, I say I'm kind of like a Monstars.
- 8:01I like to absorb people's comments.
- 8:02So if I meet you and we spend enough time to you're like
- 8:05really good at editing, I'm going to pick you right.
- 8:08My buddy Chris, he's got a really, really artistic eye.
- 8:12So he would like before he would just like film and he we would
- 8:17edit and then I would just think his brain fig his brain.
- 8:20And then I started making video that video.
- 8:22But yes, yes, I just kind of like the I like to see like a
- 8:28bunch of video clips on my phone that's a jumbled mess because I
- 8:32didn't storyboard it or anything 1st and then turn it into some
- 8:35decent appear. Yeah, I like that too.
- 8:37That's super cool. What's your favorite video that
- 8:40you made? Regardless of like few numbers
- 8:43or anything, you put a specific video that you're like, I'm
- 8:47proud of that one or I really like that one.
- 8:54I don't know, I mean, probably that's kind of, that's kind of
- 9:00hard to say my favorite video because it was just such a good
- 9:03time. Maybe it it wasn't the best
- 9:05video product, but a hunting video that I did on the big
- 9:09aisle with my buddy Arthur. I met this dude online like I
- 9:13met y'all and I went to go and stay at his place.
- 9:17He opened up his home. He didn't have to.
- 9:20It's him, his wife and his three daughters, right.
- 9:23And he after we talked for a while, he trusted me enough to
- 9:25open up his doors to me and it was just a good time just
- 9:28talking story. His students got like a he's
- 9:32completely self-sufficient over there.
- 9:34And that's kind of what I would like to do once I retire.
- 9:37He has the big greenhouse, he has all his vegetables, He's got
- 9:41all the pigs. He can hunt, he can go.
- 9:43He'll go shoot a couple of cows a year like Uncle, I call him
- 9:47Uncle Arthur. He is living like 1 dream.
- 9:49So that's probably my favorite one.
- 9:50It's a it's a go hunt over there.
- 9:52That's hot. Yeah, that is fun.
- 9:54I, we were talking about that on, I think the first day here,
- 9:57we're drive with James had one of Rogan's podcasts up and
- 10:03they're talking about like stats and like the Amish community and
- 10:06whatnot. And I was like, you got to think
- 10:08about it like even if you choose like cut sugars and artificial
- 10:13things out and whatnot, if you're purchasing your chicken
- 10:17from the store, the amount of pesticides that and, and
- 10:22chemicals in that trick, it's food that you are then
- 10:26ingesting. And we like think about the
- 10:28amount of issues that have popped up with like infertility
- 10:31or autism and things like that. And I'm like, that's not just
- 10:34from one generation, that's from multiple generations.
- 10:38I grew up drinking that Michigan one.
- 10:42So it's like I you know, I joke about it with shades all the
- 10:45time, will pass animals or whatnot, and I'll be like can
- 10:47scam chicken capco. It's like not but one day truly
- 10:52that'll be the case. Because like if you can know
- 10:54that your animals ate, you know, just the grass in the yard and
- 10:58or where your eggs are coming from and where your vegetables
- 11:02are and what you're putting on, choosing to put on your
- 11:04vegetables like you can't help but I'm treat it around maybe
- 11:07unless you really take it up and do some to it.
- 11:09But at most like you're getting as close to natural and who said
- 11:14at demos be can to where you you are not being affected by what's
- 11:20in all of the foods out there now was crazy.
- 11:23And they like to me like it's just a wild content of how many
- 11:27generations it wouldn't take to wean back out the issues people
- 11:33now have with like, I mean, what Rogan focused on was like
- 11:37infertility, autism, but not but it's like it would truly take
- 11:41multiple generations of like eating pure foods again before I
- 11:45think you'd see a regress in any of it.
- 11:48So I think it's cool that you guys and you guys had year out
- 11:52for for go to pace out here. So you got a word for him, but.
- 11:58That would have been so lame bowling, so here it just
- 12:01slipped. It just slipped out of my
- 12:02pocket. See that's oh, you got to have
- 12:04this strap on problem is when you take it off that strap and
- 12:08then you you lose it in another state.
- 12:10But you guys, so you cannot goats and pigs year round here
- 12:16on this island, on this island that's got to be kind of over
- 12:21again. You guys talk about that too,
- 12:22Like the amount of tries you could get at things Like you
- 12:26would pick up exponentially faster than someone's who's
- 12:30waiting to like live on drawn tags in the West Coast backfall.
- 12:35Yeah. So I mean, if you live out here,
- 12:37you buy your hunting license and then you go on.
- 12:40There's no tax required. You messed up one weekend.
- 12:43As long as you can get off work like every time.
- 12:46Yeah, it was. I would go and find like 3 or 4
- 12:49times in a week. And I had thank you, Crystal.
- 12:52I said I don't know how she supported this, especially like
- 12:57those first three years. I was hunting at least at least
- 13:0210 * a month for cool year, straight psycho pace.
- 13:07And she would just she wouldn't complain once, like once I
- 13:11started shooting animals, then it would, you know, then it was
- 13:15easier for her to justify. And then, but then, but then the
- 13:20Amazon packages start showing up, right?
- 13:22Because now I shoot something and now I need a meat grinder
- 13:24because OK, and now I need a vacuum sealer.
- 13:26And then and then, and then. And I remember the homies who
- 13:31like taught me how to shoot and taught me how to bow hunt.
- 13:33I was like, man, I can't wait to shoot an animal because I know
- 13:37it's going to be so much cheaper than grocery shopping.
- 13:40And the whole car went crazy laughing.
- 13:41I'm like what that is? In.
- 13:46Everyone jokes like. I think that is maybe one of the
- 13:50most common misconceptions when you're new to it, especially
- 13:57when you're waiting to draw tags and like, like James put in for
- 14:00New Mexico, which is a lottery state.
- 14:03And so you just put in for as much as you want and he always
- 14:06goes in with the idea that maybe you'll draw 1, you know, And I
- 14:12was like, well, shoot, that one's still going to cost me
- 14:15$3000. Like, you know, if you divide
- 14:19that over the course of 12 months or whatever, I mean, your
- 14:26natural meat is not cheap. And that's not including your
- 14:31processing fees if you're taking it to somewhat or the equipment
- 14:34that it cost you to purchase. If you're doing it yourself,
- 14:37your archery equipment that you have to pay for or maintain in
- 14:41order to shoot that animal, you start adding all those things up
- 14:44and it's like, this is not cheaper than Russia shopping,
- 14:49but it's better for you. Since I like hopped into another
- 14:53obsession that I don't spend I haven't spent any money.
- 14:57Like I haven't bought a new arrow.
- 15:00I haven't. I still have plenty of
- 15:02fletchings like app. I realize my obsession with
- 15:06archery is way more expensive than what it actually cost to
- 15:09hunt once I you can buy a $500 setup right?
- 15:14Get you a decent set of bra heads and you could really you
- 15:18can reuse if you wanted to re sharpen.
- 15:21I bet. All in all, 2 grand you could
- 15:24probably go a couple years without spending another time.
- 15:26Oh, he's I think you could even do less than that.
- 15:31I mean, oh dude, because I mean a diamonds edge 320 is a more
- 15:36than capable bow. It'll outshoot anybody.
- 15:38It comes as a kit and it's like you're out the door 500 bucks
- 15:42you go buy a dozen friggin entry level V force victory arrows.
- 15:48You go get shoot, I don't know, Muzzies, some, some sort of
- 15:54entry level broadhead, that stuff will shoot far better than
- 15:57even I am capable of shooting. Or someone who's very good.
- 16:01And then you just shoot stuff. You know what I mean?
- 16:04Like I think you could. It's what I think down the
- 16:07rabbit. Hole, I think with AI think with
- 16:09$1000 you, especially if you're in a state like Hawaii where you
- 16:15can get a license and hunt all the stuff year round.
- 16:18I mean dude, I think $1000 could carry you like years yeah and
- 16:22excluding fuel, you know, things that but but like dude, I think
- 16:26I think hunting I mean, obviously, yes, if you're doing
- 16:29a moose on or a Big Horn sheep hunter, a grizzly bear hunt like
- 16:32you could polar bear like you can definitely drop money
- 16:35hunting. But if you're doing that, it's
- 16:37for obviously, yes, the meat, but also way more of experience,
- 16:42you know, like a life experience, you know, But I do
- 16:47think it's really cool. To your guys point earlier, the
- 16:51amount of opportunity to hunt here because the only place I've
- 16:54haunted like that is in Africa. You know, in Africa you can hunt
- 16:58a lot of big animals at one time with just just going, you know,
- 17:03like, and that's sort of like here.
- 17:06And that's really, really cool. Like if you were a local here
- 17:09and really wanted to become like an excellent bow hunter, you got
- 17:12all the tools at your disposal because you can get so much
- 17:15practice. Yeah, if you're new, this is the
- 17:17best. I don't at this point, like as
- 17:20long as I've been hunting at 10 years in, I don't think that
- 17:24I'll. I don't know how many animals I
- 17:26would have put down if I had to come up on the mainland hunting
- 17:29because I would make a mistake. And literally two days later
- 17:32I'll be right back out there and then or I'll fly to lanai
- 17:35hunting. I'll fly to Lanai hunting axe is
- 17:38there and that next month I'm right back out there chasing.
- 17:42We get and again and again. Then I can't I get to catch them
- 17:45throughout the year when, you know, when they're slick with no
- 17:48headgear, when they're, when they're right before their shed,
- 17:51how they're behaving is just different throughout the year.
- 17:54And I get to catch all of those. I get to catch all of those
- 17:57phases. So just so much data, so many
- 17:59reps You can spot and stalk. You can get in the tree.
- 18:03You can get in the tree. And then you can spot and stalk.
- 18:04Like it's just hard to be for somebody who was never haunted
- 18:08before. There is no better place to to
- 18:10learn to hear. Yeah.
- 18:12So target region. It's awesome.
- 18:13It's really, really cool with also quite a mixture of terrain.
- 18:16I mean, obviously here everything's for the most part
- 18:19pretty big, but like I know some of the other places aren't so
- 18:24gnarly, like so you kind of have a little bit of a, a mix of
- 18:27terrain to hunt as well, which I think is really neat.
- 18:30And then one thing I wanted to, I always like to ask guys who
- 18:35shoot bows a lot, what would you say is like one thing that like,
- 18:41let's say you're in a shooting slump or you're like, OK, I
- 18:43really, what's one thing you always go back to that's like,
- 18:47OK, as long as I think about this, then like my shooting will
- 18:51improve. Like for me, for example, like
- 18:53if I start shooting a little bit trash for like a target or two,
- 18:57I know that if I consciously build extra pressure both front
- 19:02and back into the bow really, really hard, try to break the
- 19:06bow in half, I can usually break out of a slump pretty quick.
- 19:10But just getting back in that. Do you have something like that?
- 19:13I always remind myself to get big.
- 19:16Are you going to start getting here for all myself to get big
- 19:21same thing I like to cut to or take guys.
- 19:23You get a single leg got to step over leg get big, get that leg
- 19:25all the way up there. And so once my if my shoulders
- 19:28are wide when I shoot, it breaks like I don't even think about it
- 19:31once everything starts slumping, especially this wind starts to
- 19:34play tricks on you. So the bows doing all this and
- 19:37you're holding through it. I feel my body just started to
- 19:40to cave over. So just good posturing.
- 19:42That's a. That's not what.
- 19:45That's all. Get big.
- 19:48That's good. Well, it makes a lot of sense
- 19:50too. If you think if you, if you, if
- 19:54you think about get big and what I said, build, build more
- 19:59pressure. Essentially it's the same thing
- 20:01but with two different mindsets. Because I totally agree you when
- 20:05you're holding for the wind a long time, you'll feel your body
- 20:08collapsing before you know what you're like.
- 20:10Before you realize that, you can almost see your elbow here at
- 20:13the corner of your eye. I like that though, because like
- 20:15for some people, they don't understand building pressure,
- 20:17but they might understand getting big.
- 20:19So it's kind of two different ways.
- 20:21What about you? Do you have something like that?
- 20:32Yeah, that's about it. I'm not a yeah, you know, I've
- 20:38been shooting for quite a while and I still I just to prefer to
- 20:44a happy fun phase at that point. So I don't get it to see face
- 20:51and and usually after a little while, I kind of forget that I
- 20:54was caring and so that I can go back to actually trying to like
- 20:59practice shooting good again. And usually I I get back into
- 21:03it. It's when I allow myself to
- 21:06fester in it. So like if you just got to pull
- 21:08back and like for a few targets, just have fun.
- 21:11And like, even if you pull yourself out of not physically
- 21:14out of whatever game you're playing, but like out of the
- 21:16mindset of like, I'm going to get a 12 early, I'm just going
- 21:20to shoot for, but put my pin on it and I'm a hold it, pull
- 21:24through. But that's like just a mindset
- 21:27thing. You just got to talk to yourself
- 21:29while you're shooting. And the conversations that
- 21:33happened afterwards, like don't focus on the shot that just
- 21:35happened. Like, I don't care what I get.
- 21:38I just shot cool. Someone pulled my arrow, so I
- 21:41don't even I don't even need to see it and just boom on.
- 21:43And then after a little while, they kind of forget about her
- 21:46slump and get that to it stops. Bad, No, I think that's good as
- 21:53well. I mean, I definitely, I have
- 21:55seen a trend in competitions especially, but even just friend
- 21:59competitions like today or like a attack or something.
- 22:03I have noticed that a lot of shooters once they have a bad
- 22:06shot or two, forget about it, do their mindset very hard to get
- 22:09out. Oh, yeah, they can't get out.
- 22:11And the good shooters can like make a mistake and just like get
- 22:14back on the trend and like, be good again.
- 22:17That's it. You just got to get back on it,
- 22:19you know? But yeah, man, this is fun.
- 22:23I'm I'm glad we got to link up and, and shoot some sticks and
- 22:27go on a little hike. And we're going to do more while
- 22:30we're here. But what has been you've been
- 22:34out here 15 years in Hawaii, right?
- 22:36A long time. What is your favorite thing
- 22:40about living out here That may be aside, let's let's eliminate
- 22:44the hunting aspect just like more lifestyle.
- 22:46What's your favorite part about living out here that, you know,
- 22:50maybe would surprise people or people wouldn't think of when
- 22:52they think? Why the people are so good, Like
- 22:57I live so I, I've never, it's only been a short time where I
- 23:01lived, like in the military community.
- 23:03I live like we call it out in town, right?
- 23:06I've always lived out in town and I've always been shown so
- 23:09much love. If I had to leave, my neighbors
- 23:12would always look out. They grab a trash can for me.
- 23:15They hit the lawn with the weed wagger if I need it.
- 23:19Like if you show, if you show the people Hawaii love, they
- 23:23will show you so much love. They will feed you until you
- 23:27can't eat anymore. They call everybody's auntie,
- 23:31everybody's uncle. What I like every time I will go
- 23:36back home on leave and if you just hesitate a half second of
- 23:39delight, everybody's laying on a horn.
- 23:41Nobody's doing that here. So just the.
- 23:44Except for when James steps out in the front of traffic at a
- 23:46green light. He looks at the green light and
- 23:51he ranges with fights. And so he steps as soon as he
- 23:54sees the green steps right into the cars that are stopped as
- 23:57they hit the gas, they're like, what are you doing buddy?
- 24:00The white dude just stepping out in front of the locals traffic.
- 24:03I'm like. Well the funny part is they
- 24:05actually didn't even honk till like 45 seconds later.
- 24:08Yeah, it did. It was actually the car after
- 24:11the car that almost hit you that honked.
- 24:13It was really that that is good. No, like like going a lot lanai,
- 24:19my buddy Rick Shane, whatever I need.
- 24:23He just he just freaking hooks it up and the people in like the
- 24:29archery community here, not like just my thing, not just shooting
- 24:32archery, but if you're at like YP or archery range, you happen
- 24:36to leave your vehicle open, you're probably going to be fine
- 24:38there and they're probably going to watch out for you.
- 24:40So it's just a real sense of community.
- 24:43Our churches out here. We we connected with this church
- 24:46right when we got out here because what, 4000 miles away
- 24:50from home? Don't don't kill me in the
- 24:53comments if I'm if I'm completely wrong, but nobody
- 24:56like nobody to watch us. And then having like pastors
- 24:59wife to kind of be adult parents for us out here probably kept
- 25:04our marriage alive too. So, yeah, it's just a big family
- 25:07out here. That's amazing.
- 25:09Yeah. Well.
- 25:09You got to think like you were young, obviously first coming
- 25:14out here and so you're stepping away from any form of family,
- 25:19whether you're close to family or not close to family.
- 25:21Like you just secluded yourself on a small island 2000 miles
- 25:25away from the mainland with just you, your wife and nothing else.
- 25:31And you're like. In a studio apartment.
- 25:33Yeah, hope you enjoy. I'm going to go deploy, find
- 25:36something to do like, you know, finding a sense of any sort of
- 25:40community, you know, be at the church at 1st and then now
- 25:43finding the archery community, like and now the Jiu jitsu
- 25:46community. Like you find your way,
- 25:48especially in the military when you really do seclude yourself
- 25:51at tides unintentionally, but because of work to to find
- 25:56somewhere to make friends and make family, which is vastly
- 26:03important because otherwise, like it's just you, your
- 26:05partner, and you're taking it out on each other.
- 26:08Oh my God, them years and that studio apartment was a while.
- 26:13And the real test of faith. Yo listen fro marriage there
- 26:18from a non fro y'all y'all are. I know you gave up.
- 26:22So I put shorts on the other day for that hike.
- 26:24Literally never put. I got cuts all over my legs and
- 26:28I was sweating. So I'm like, I'm not putting
- 26:29these pants on. So I'm going up there all the
- 26:31way to these goats in these shorts.
- 26:34That is what I did. You know, like having a in that
- 26:37studio apartment, you can't just go in another room and act like
- 26:40the problem isn't there because the kitchen's right here, your
- 26:45bed's right here, everything's right here.
- 26:46So you're like, OK, we might as well look at each other and talk
- 26:49this thing out or else we're just going to be mad.
- 26:51Walk in the apartment. Luckily, I'm with the biggest
- 26:57communicator in the world. He never wants to stop talking.
- 27:02He goes to bed and he's like, I want to go to sleep.
- 27:10Yeah, that is. That's good, though.
- 27:12It's, it's much needed to find places to fit in and, and feel
- 27:18like you can, you know, learn something and then meet people
- 27:22and whatnot. Now my question is like, you're
- 27:27basically a local at this point. You have.
- 27:30Trouble here and. They're like, no, you're, no,
- 27:33you're not. You've been here 15 years,
- 27:35though. That's a long time to be again,
- 27:38thousands miles away from the mainland.
- 27:41Do you feel at a very off topic, kind of like, do you feel like
- 27:46AUS citizen, like living like just on the tiny island?
- 27:50Yeah, yeah. Yeah.
- 27:52I guess the military probably changes a little bit, though.
- 27:55You know, I wonder sometimes for like people who live here, like
- 27:58they're especially like, like, you know, with lots of the
- 28:02hotspot. Let's talk Hawaii, I guess.
- 28:05Like if you never take a flight back and forth from the
- 28:08mainland, it's like do even connect I guess with this whole
- 28:14other entire. So the problems your country, so
- 28:18the problems that everybody has on the mainland, I ain't got
- 28:21none of that stuff here. Like some of the stuff that,
- 28:24like the political stuff, the tensions left, right, like I
- 28:29don't, I'm kind of blinded to all of that out here.
- 28:33That's got to be fantastic, yeah.
- 28:34It's like if it wasn't for social media.
- 28:37That's so different. And you're like, well, OK, this
- 28:41is different from this one, this different, oh, new problem that
- 28:44this one and you get to see it all from state to state and how
- 28:47vastly. Different from that aspect, I
- 28:49am. So I'm so dialed out.
- 28:51Yeah, Yeah, it's nice. Yeah.
- 28:53Well, yeah, I mean, I, I, I see what Brianna's saying.
- 28:56Like obviously Hawaii's part of the US and part of the States
- 29:00and. Everyone but you're proud.
- 29:01Here, but I get what you're saying.
- 29:02It is, it is like a separate thing just because of the not
- 29:06being conjoined. Same with Alaska.
- 29:08You said the same thing about Alaska because it's way up there
- 29:11by Canada. They're like closer to Russia
- 29:13than a lot of US, you know what I mean?
- 29:15Like just kind of like it's, it's just a different thing, you
- 29:19know, but it's still a part of the whole.
- 29:21Speed. But I thought about it, the
- 29:22island time. James knows I'm not like a go,
- 29:26go, go. I love that.
- 29:29I feel like I don't care if it takes you 20 minutes to make my
- 29:32fast food like some people make. I'm a big fan.
- 29:36Like I just like relaxing. Oh, I really.
- 29:39Have enough. James does not.
- 29:41And I'm just like, you know, like you kind of go at your pace
- 29:45and like, it's just calm, I guess.
- 29:48Like nothing is calm. Wait it.
- 29:51Is you do get a lot of traffic here because it's so
- 29:53overpopulated. You got every branch of service.
- 29:56Every branch of service is here on this island.
- 30:00So you can you can tell. If you want to see how
- 30:03fast-paced this place can be, go to Costco.
- 30:09That I feel like it's a Costco standard right there.
- 30:12Sam's Club is probably even worse.
- 30:16Yeah, man, it's it's awesome out here.
- 30:17I'm super, super stoked to be out here.
- 30:20We were just out here a few years ago, but never with the
- 30:23bows. So it's the first time shooting
- 30:24on Hawaii or hunting on Hawaii. I am oh for one on on goats
- 30:29shots so far, but I'm I man how? Close.
- 30:34Did you get? A shot for 61 and it was like.
- 30:37What was the? What was the first like the
- 30:39upper number? I don't remember on that
- 30:42specific shot, but it was so steep that one of them was 122
- 30:47yards. Shoot for 77.
- 30:50That's how steep it was. It was like straight up.
- 30:53So when I drew, I mean, I was so contorted and like, it was just
- 30:57so steep and it was really, really cool and stuff.
- 31:01It's like, and you never really get good footy, Dyke.
- 31:05No, you're not. You're not out here at at the
- 31:07range. Well, OK, all right.
- 31:09I like my back foot slightly ahead.
- 31:12And then they know all of that is out of the window, completely
- 31:16out of the windows, a whole different ball game.
- 31:18And luckily by the time I got that shot, I had really kind of
- 31:21worked for quite a while. I kind of separated from Ria at
- 31:24that point, just kind of got up and and I ended up getting it to
- 31:28where it was. It was still very steep, but not
- 31:32as steep as that one that was 122 to 77.
- 31:36I think this one was like, I want to say maybe like 77 to 61
- 31:40or something along those lines because I had worked kind of up
- 31:44higher and made it to where the shot was kind of for across and
- 31:48up rather than like straight up. And I mean, dude, it was still.
- 31:53It's almost. Straight up you just, you got
- 31:55to, you got to beat them to where they where they're low.
- 31:58This is what I said. So I think, you know, chant is
- 32:02also partly vacationing. I'm attempting to, but I also
- 32:06really want to try to get a goat.
- 32:07And I was like, Nah, I agree with Andre here.
- 32:10We're gonna now I'm not parking my car outside that gate if it's
- 32:13open, so I'll wait till it opens at 6:00.
- 32:16But go through that gate at six, out the door by 6:15 and just
- 32:22try to get as far as possible up the the mountain and just wait
- 32:26and you can. Call a DMN.
- 32:27R. You can hit them up, get the
- 32:29number like the code to the gate and do a test run the day
- 32:33before. See if it if the code works, see
- 32:35if nobody switched here. And then if that works, you then
- 32:38plan to your next morning to get up super early.
- 32:41Because every time I've had success up there, it's always
- 32:45get to where I know they're going to cross and then I'm
- 32:48waiting on them and then here comes the highway.
- 32:50Yeah, that's what I was like. I know he said it.
- 32:52He's done it so many times that I was like, this is the way we
- 32:56have to try at least once, you know, 1 early morning and go up
- 33:00in the dark and you. Go so much better when it's time
- 33:03to finally shoot. Like how did how did y'all's
- 33:05bodies feel? But like getting all wizard
- 33:07time. I know I've been in the shop
- 33:09above and obviously he did but. No, I I felt pretty good.
- 33:14I mean, I I part of the thing hunting with Brianna is that I
- 33:18have to go quite slow for myself, right?
- 33:21Like so I don't I wasn't like crazy fatigued or anything and I
- 33:26felt fine. Like my legs feel good right now
- 33:28when written and ready to do it again.
- 33:30But like I think next time we've kind of talked about it, if
- 33:34they're in that steep stuff again, I'll probably go up solo
- 33:36like I told you in Hagger wake the camera, then I'll blast it
- 33:40in about double the time. So like I'll be, I'll be fine,
- 33:43like my Cardios and I'm not compared to some people, but
- 33:46like for me it's pretty good. So yeah, I'm I'm excited for it.
- 33:52But we found our good little little zone kind of like right
- 33:55below where I got the shot. Oh, it's a bedding.
- 33:57So there's a nice bedding area, like nice set of trees.
- 34:00It's dark. You stop trails in there there.
- 34:03There's a bunch of beds, you can see there was pee all over.
- 34:06Yeah, I would just go up there and sit and like eat a sandwich
- 34:09the way back. Yeah, if you worked up there and
- 34:12just sat there in the morning waiting, like at least then you
- 34:17can more optimally plan because you're already there.
- 34:20Was the grass super tall right there?
- 34:23No, we basically in the jungle. So my first, the first goat that
- 34:27I shot was a nanny over there like we all were talking about.
- 34:33And like I gave up on finding it.
- 34:35I didn't really give up, but I'm like, OK, I'm going to sit down.
- 34:37I'm going to eat and drink some water and get my mind right.
- 34:41Jay, he keeps looking. He comes back, he's like, oh,
- 34:45you found it? I'm like bro, don't play with me
- 34:47right now. What are you talking about?
- 34:48I turn around. The nanny was 7 yards behind me
- 34:52dead in this tall grass, but says he came from over the top.
- 34:55He saw it and that's how we found my first goat.
- 34:58That was insane. No, we were in some stuff that
- 35:01like, I think I may know where you're talking about.
- 35:03So a little bit further to the right, there's like this huge
- 35:07Cliff. Wall GPS This point it's about.
- 35:09Yeah, on X maps. But no, like where we came up
- 35:14was where it starts to curve and like it's just you can't see the
- 35:21rock bands continuing inside of there other than the giant rock
- 35:24that sticks out for you to see. But like you're just in nothing,
- 35:28but you're under trees and and rock and shale.
- 35:32And so like I wasn't gasped per SE because we had stopped a
- 35:36couple times as we had gotten closer and we could hear them so
- 35:40close. And but it got to a point in
- 35:43there where we are hitting like one of the actual rock bands,
- 35:46whether you're either going to have to climb up the rock bands,
- 35:48like rock climb or parallel it and get to the point where you
- 35:53can like curve and come up. And so that's what you today
- 35:56will say hidden behind this kind of go and then work up.
- 35:59And it got to the point there where like he got out in front
- 36:04because I was happy to go so slow, so, so steep to make the
- 36:08right steps because I'm. You don't want to.
- 36:11Die nervous then he is. You don't want to die for £15 if
- 36:14he did. No, no.
- 36:15So I was going slow. We got to that point where I
- 36:18guess he said that he had called me 3 times like whistle did
- 36:22something try to get my attention to just go to film on
- 36:25the phone 'cause he at fault the cameras.
- 36:26At this point, it took the third time for me to even hear him and
- 36:31so I just stopped where I was dropped my bow.
- 36:34Like, you know, they still like this on some rocks and tall
- 36:38grass and pulled my phone out and all my weights on my back
- 36:43leg holding me up the hill. My front arm is holding a
- 36:48boulder to keep some of the way off my back and and the other
- 36:53ones holding the phone. And that's like all I got.
- 36:56And so he shoots and then he's slowly safely trying to make his
- 36:59way back down to me. I'm trying to keep the clip
- 37:01rolling till he walks down to tells me, you know, tells us
- 37:03what happened. And he sits down like, oh good,
- 37:07he sits. OK, so I'm still holding myself
- 37:10on to the and filming. I'm like it meant talking like
- 37:14James that we got to move. This isn't working.
- 37:19I'm my like my leg was starting to shake because all the weight
- 37:22was back there. It remind me of when I did that
- 37:25freaking Mount Peffery shot and like I shot nothing like this
- 37:30uphill, but very uphill and and all my weight just the whole
- 37:34time sitting there holding the bow on my back.
- 37:38And you have not like you have an idea lots of people do not
- 37:42well like what those incline cross hill shots do to you that
- 37:46like when you don't have incline decline, whatever it's when you
- 37:50don't have the footing sound like you're relying on like very
- 37:55specific muscles and a lot. Less you feel your foot like
- 37:58it'll just go like spasmic, just like you're trying to you like
- 38:02what My body's never done this before shooting.
- 38:04I'm not nervous. What is going you're?
- 38:06It's just all spazzing out. Yeah, it is.
- 38:08It's so tough. It is tough stuff here.
- 38:11Like it is not for somebody to like leisurely say, oh, because
- 38:14you can hunt year round. Like let's go for a weekend and
- 38:17hunt goats in Hawaii like. I mean.
- 38:18You can, you can. That doesn't mean you're going
- 38:20to get go. It does not mean it, but yeah,
- 38:24so you also can run dogs out here, which James has never
- 38:29experienced before. I have run dogs.
- 38:33I'm interested to take off hog cutting to the out here.
- 38:36But if you don't, you don't feel like giving your opinion.
- 38:38You don't have to. I I got.
- 38:40It you know be. I personally, just having been a
- 38:45dog runner in the past, I do. I do love it.
- 38:50Yeah, I do. I know the dogs love it.
- 38:52Is what they've been bred for generations to do.
- 38:55So the dogs want to go use their mouses.
- 39:00We would throw GPS because they'd have two.
- 39:03They'd have a backup and the like the GPS.
- 39:05Then we'd have a backup tracker on them.
- 39:07That's more of like this, like satellite thing.
- 39:09You just hold out like it get closer like your Airpod does.
- 39:14But. But we're out there and we've
- 39:20read the sign and it's like, oh, we can't dog run from heavier to
- 39:23July. So like, we won't at least run
- 39:25into any dogs. Oh, I don't know if it would.
- 39:29Why? Would you run into why would you
- 39:30run into dogs in June? Yeah, the sign clearly said no,
- 39:34no, no. It's like gun.
- 39:37Laws Brianna's trying to get me and Andre cancelled right now.
- 39:44To be fair, none of these dogs had collars on them.
- 39:47And so like, no collars at all, period.
- 39:53And which, again, some people are brave enough to do that
- 39:55because could be like some dogs are trained well enough or just
- 40:00are smart enough. Like they'll come back home
- 40:02after they've done run 10 miles. But they could have also been a
- 40:06wild pack of dogs. Yeah, it could have been.
- 40:08But these? It's dogs come up and if you've
- 40:12ever seen dog running out east, we have like normal sized dogs.
- 40:15And then some older people will run beagles because they're
- 40:19small so they're easier to catch.
- 40:21They're like this tall. And when you see a Beagle
- 40:24running a deer and the deer came by like half an hour ago and
- 40:27then you just see this little pack of beagles coming by, it's
- 40:30like, and they're like covering like 2 feet every 10 seconds,
- 40:36but their little legs are they're not catching that deer.
- 40:39But so I'm James waiting for me to come down.
- 40:42He's like filming a clip at me and then all of a sudden you're
- 40:45and just like wild dogs, but they were tiny.
- 40:51So I'm laughing, James, like I'm not about to get eaten by some
- 40:54wild dogs. I'm like, James, I think we
- 40:57could just push them and they'll leave.
- 40:58And they did. They just ran off eventually.
- 41:01Or trotted, really, because they were tiny.
- 41:04They might have been wild like I see a lot of you have y'all been
- 41:07to Guam so Guam's got this thing for.
- 41:09Well, then, they're through the airport.
- 41:10They call them loony dogs, right?
- 41:12And there's literally just wild dogs everywhere.
- 41:16And if one, all it takes, all it takes is one person to feed
- 41:19them. And then they're like, they keep
- 41:20coming back everything. So we tell the guys, well, we
- 41:23head over to Guam, like do not feed the booney dogs.
- 41:26But yeah, they're, they're everywhere.
- 41:28And now, like, I think because of the homeless population has
- 41:32grown so much, they will you will see a lot of homeless folks
- 41:35with dogs out here. I notice that.
- 41:36And so like a lot of places where I would go for a run, I
- 41:39can't even run run that route anymore because it's so many
- 41:42just wild dogs. That's what I think.
- 41:44These ones were just hanging out together, but it was to me,
- 41:48being an am, it was the most adorable thing because you just
- 41:52got these little wild dogs rubbing in a pack together, you
- 41:55know, like the Wild West and and James was like, I don't want to
- 42:01get attacked. I'm like, yo, and all seven of
- 42:04them attacked you. They might get your big toe,
- 42:06but. I feel about that bluff.
- 42:07Charge that was that was interesting, yeah.
- 42:10So let's break it down. So so we're hiking up the hill
- 42:15and there's some cattle. And I'm you very used to awning
- 42:18with cattle, right? Yeah.
- 42:20And these ones, I, I, you know, I whip out the camera, I'm
- 42:25filming a little clip of them. And that sucker bluff charged me
- 42:28from like 10 yards. Notice I kept walking When you
- 42:31stopped, you were like, EW, it's got some interesting ears.
- 42:35I'm like, oh, I wonder how the ears got like that.
- 42:39These cattle fighting out here a lot like they must attack each
- 42:43other. So this thing legit had no ears
- 42:45like a fighting dog, like its ears had been bit off, chewed
- 42:48off, ripped off like by whether it's brush other cattle, who
- 42:53knows, but it had no he. Wanted anything that you were
- 42:56ready to give him. Oh, 100%.
- 42:58Yeah, probably rented to those dogs.
- 42:59How many times? That dude was.
- 43:01That dude was a scrapper. Oh sure.
- 43:03And he was ready to go to your Oh, yeah, he was.
- 43:07He's flexing up on me. He like Peacock in Miami.
- 43:11Like Miami, he will run Jack. Yeah.
- 43:13Ready to go? So we did run into another big,
- 43:16big herd of cattle that day we were out there.
- 43:20And this time, you know, James gave him a wide berth and all
- 43:25the cattle eventually get up and walk off and sewer real slow.
- 43:29We didn't want them to go running.
- 43:31We're trying to make our way to these goats.
- 43:33And one's just sticking in the back, like, like, come on,
- 43:36buddy. And then James is up ahead, so
- 43:39he gets official. He's like, it's the bull.
- 43:44Same one. He no, but it was that he had
- 43:47get a large set on him. And so I think he just really,
- 43:51you know, he wanted to stay in his territory and he did not
- 43:54want to give up. That tail was perked up like he
- 43:56was ready to pee, poop, show us this was his batting ground.
- 44:00And eventually he slowly walked away like with all sense of, you
- 44:06know, this is this is my area. I was getting cocky with it too.
- 44:10I walk up about 100, maybe maybe 60 yards.
- 44:14He's standing there broadside, he not moving.
- 44:16Every once in a while he looking over at me.
- 44:18I go, come on, let's get going, get up there.
- 44:21I start getting cocky with it. I said hey, if he turns, just
- 44:24make sure you keep rolling the foot, keep rolling, keep rolling
- 44:27the footy. And if I got to wear 1, you
- 44:30know, we'll just try to talk and roll baby.
- 44:33But yeah, it is good stuff. So we're excited to get back out
- 44:38there, get a goat, Lord willing, and now have some fun.
- 44:43We got to do some snorkeling, all sorts of fun stuff.
- 44:48So it's been a great trip. We've got some time left, some
- 44:51meat on the bone, as I like to say.
- 44:54And by the way, I love the merch.
- 44:56Are you selling these? Are you a website or just hit
- 45:00you on Instagram? Just hit me on Instagram, I will
- 45:02get it to you and. Instagram's privilege BH.
- 45:05Under score, under score privilege under score BH.
- 45:09A lot of people for some reason cannot spell quiz.
- 45:12Still privileged. OK, PRI.
- 45:18PRIVE. Dope.
- 45:23PRI oh Li Dang it, I want to spell privileged.
- 45:30I found out by taking this YouTube name that's only you
- 45:33cannot spell privilege. That's the same with crazy, same
- 45:35with disciples. Everybody spells it DE instead
- 45:38of DI. That's.
- 45:38Crazy. Read your Bible.
- 45:40Read your Bible. Open up map maybe.
- 45:42Maybe Newton? And a lot of time people will
- 45:44leave out the, a lot of times people will leave out the S or
- 45:47the C. Well yeah, I did that.
- 45:49So fun fact, I ran the podcast logo for over a year.
- 45:54Do it. Yep, it was both Dicapuls for a
- 45:58full year. No one ever noticed it until
- 46:02James did a before and after of the redo, it said.
- 46:06Anybody notice a misspelling in the last logo?
- 46:08Yeah, that logo was trash. Multiple times and I will go
- 46:12back in and redo the graphic. We just I never went back.
- 46:15I did it. Nobody noticed it until after we
- 46:18pointed it out. But yeah, you know, read your
- 46:20Bible to figure out how to spell discycles please.
- 46:24So have you ever gotten to hunt the mainland at all yet since it
- 46:29coming alone? Nope, it's all been away.
- 46:33Been axis deer. I'm waiting for the invite.
- 46:35And somebody can make that happen.
- 46:36Mountain Creek can make that happen.
- 46:37Mountain Peck? How's the javelina sound?
- 46:39I'm down. Yeah, that's one of.
- 46:41My favorites. We'll take him to that fame
- 46:43mountain that mine was on. It's going to be like a cakewalk
- 46:47repair to this for hits like You Fall This Deep.
- 46:49That one's, that one is that 1 is so for sure.
- 46:54But yeah, I would love to get you Avelina there.
- 46:55That's my friggin and favorite. And you can actually, you know,
- 46:59get A tag relatively relatively easily.
- 47:02So that's nice. Yeah, I'm down the the next
- 47:05phase of career like it should be.
- 47:10I should be able to make these trips to the mainland.
- 47:12Nice stop or especially starting next year, I should be able to
- 47:15get over there. I've been my.
- 47:17What's that? I love to hear it.
- 47:20You also, you know, I think he got a rid motorcycles challenge
- 47:24for sure, maybe a total archery challenge, possibly a bit.
- 47:28And yeah, man, it's been a pleasure to hang out and meet
- 47:31you and I love the merge. So definitely go to his
- 47:34Instagram and hit him up for hats.
- 47:37These things are fleeing. Love a good patch hat and
- 47:39Richardson. Can't go wrong.
- 47:41So subscribe to YouTube, you're back in the game, is that right?
- 47:45I'm back in the game. I've been to revitalize IA
- 47:47little bit about me like yeah, I will go down a rabbit hole.
- 47:51And then like was it 2022? I started what?
- 47:55I did a little bit of jujitsu before that, but then I did a
- 47:57tournament in 2022 and no matter how much my kids and my wife
- 48:01were like you got it Daddy. I like I won first match and
- 48:05Gianoki and then I got smoked by the same dude in both and he's
- 48:09just bouncing in the middle of the ring fresh and I'm
- 48:11completely cooked And I needed to get I had to get my lick
- 48:15back. And so I started training once a
- 48:18week, twice a week, three times a week.
- 48:20And now it's at like 6-7 times a week, twice a day.
- 48:23Good Lord, that's a lot. But to come out here, shoot,
- 48:29check out, I made 4 arrows. We were you got the you got the
- 48:35the the the Jimmy down there there she is there she is while
- 48:41he doing this. This podcast is sponsored by
- 48:44Podium archer.com use code pump station to save 10% almost
- 48:49website wide. So go get that up while we get
- 48:52this wind fixed and. Well, you can't fix the wind
- 48:58here. So we're getting the wind
- 49:00blocker Jimmy fix can. Fix that.
- 49:02And you can fix the wind. You just go.
- 49:05You shoot before or after Brianna?
- 49:07Yeah, if you shoot before or after Brianna, you have fixed
- 49:10the wind. You know, at the same time as
- 49:12me, because I swear that'll be, it'll be dead the whole time.
- 49:15It's not like lulls. It's just dead.
- 49:18And then as soon as I pick the foe up, it's like Hurricane
- 49:22Martha is coming through here and the wind gusts.
- 49:28Show show us these bad. I have revitalized.
- 49:30Crystal was like, what are you doing?
- 49:32I was sitting at the table. I brought out my little freaking
- 49:36fletch kit. She's like, why are you building
- 49:38arrows right now? Did you nocturnal?
- 49:41I'm like, so we're about to go and shoot a little 3D challenge
- 49:45in about 45 minutes. So I'll threw these all together
- 49:51and I am back in the game. Quotes Hey, and you know what
- 49:54the best part is? He came with four, he's
- 49:56returning with four. They're all got 11.
- 49:59They're all still money dude. Now let me ask you at the end of
- 50:02those arrows do. You do your field tips have the
- 50:05rubber grommet on them? Yeah, Nope.
- 50:09So they come loose all the time or no?
- 50:11Nah, I think, I don't know, maybe some action between the
- 50:15foot area here kind of helps it to bite, but they I mean they
- 50:19come a little bit. It's not like I'm losing them in
- 50:22the target or. Anything.
- 50:22No, but like they'll rattle on you A.
- 50:24Little bit, yeah. Yeah, I always kind of.
- 50:26Yeah, so they do. There's these field tips that
- 50:29blow my mind, Dude, they have these rubber gaskets in them,
- 50:33and those suckers never come loose.
- 50:35Yeah, ever. I've I want something bad?
- 50:38Yeah, I had some. I bought them from Lancaster a
- 50:41while back. I just had them at 100 grand and
- 50:44I would, you know this, sometimes you go matchy matchy.
- 50:46And so since I had some of the other components, I just went
- 50:50out with their frizzles. Well.
- 50:52Now, are those wraps you have on the end of your arrows there?
- 50:55Those bonings, baby. Yeah, I'm a I'm a I'm a boning
- 50:59rap fan. I've tried a bunch of other
- 51:01wraps. I tried a bunch of other wraps.
- 51:03I've tried different colors, but bonings like straight up white
- 51:08when you're glassing. Trying to see if you made a
- 51:10decent shot. Just seeing that little bit of
- 51:12red on the wrap. Just it gives me a little bit of
- 51:16patience to stay over here and wait before I go and kick up the
- 51:21owl. Do you feel that that wrap like
- 51:25you know what's that? Do you feel that wrap?
- 51:28Does it just out what your your FOC?
- 51:31Is it just out the window because you threw that 6th grain
- 51:34wrap on? The 6th grain wrap kills my FOC.
- 51:37With this 600 grain arrow it's I can't.
- 51:39Yeah, it. Just such an idiot.
- 51:44I love it. It's it's become this meme
- 51:47because for whatever I come from the East Coast, wraps are like a
- 51:52normal thing, you know, like there's no big deal about a
- 51:55wrap. You throw that thing on there.
- 51:56You want some color to be able to find your arrow, see your
- 51:59arrow, like, or you just think it's cool and pretty.
- 52:02If you're a girl, whatever we threw wraps off.
- 52:05I move out West. They're like there's clearly a
- 52:09that rap is going to make or break your shot.
- 52:12Your arrow is just going to hit the ground.
- 52:14Your fock, it's going to be over.
- 52:16It's it's you know, you have lost the right percentage.
- 52:20You'll never be able to gain it back.
- 52:22It's like that six grains. How about you just go from 4:00
- 52:25to 3:00 Fletch and you're just fine there.
- 52:27There's your 6th grades. Back but like the other.
- 52:29Thing what if you already run 3? Then six grains ain't going to
- 52:34kill you, buddy. So this is a, this is a family
- 52:38feud you guys got going on right now.
- 52:40She Brianna thinks it's a feud. For me.
- 52:42It's not a feud. She just, you know.
- 52:44There's just it's now become a thing because I'm not really a W
- 52:47coaster, but now like we be. I've met a lot of West coasters.
- 52:50They all like without fail, they all say the same thing.
- 52:54They think raps are like, they're just like the worst
- 53:00thing you could. I'm like, hey, you're I can't, I
- 53:03can't get behind that. Six strings is going to kill
- 53:05you. I can't do it.
- 53:07Then your setup is not good. Go ahead and drop a comment
- 53:09everyone in the comments and let us know if your team rap or team
- 53:13no rap. Bro if you buy, if they buy all
- 53:16of my bruised bow hunter hats I'll stop using wraps until
- 53:19then. Yeah, shout out to, by the way,
- 53:22shout out to boning. You know, friend of the show.
- 53:25You got to love the Blazers. Good to hear the wraps are nice
- 53:29maybe and they're easy. To take off.
- 53:31Yeah, You know what I mean? Like when it's time to reflex,
- 53:34it's that's just for me, like scraping glue off of the shaft
- 53:38is annoying. I rather just hit us with a hair
- 53:41dryer, pull it off, throw a new one on.
- 53:43I'm clean. That's a good thing.
- 53:44Clean this phantasis not pro Pro tips is full of pro tips because
- 53:49that is a big complaint a lot of people have about wraps is that
- 53:52Oh well, when I got a reflex like it's so much work to sit
- 53:55there and scrape off the wrap. Pro tip, hit it with a hair
- 53:57dryer. And try boning, possibly shut up
- 54:00the boning order. Yeah.
- 54:02So anyway, privileged bow hunter, if you want pro tips
- 54:05like that, this is your guy right here.
- 54:07Pro. Hunk ghosts in Hawaii wear
- 54:09shorts, at least until you know it comes time to maybe put pants
- 54:13on. I do recommend though, it is hot
- 54:15when you hit that brushy jungle stuff.
- 54:17But James is looking like he got mutilated a little bit out here.
- 54:21You're all scratched on. Bro, the problem is is James
- 54:24will not so we have a buddy back home who like he will purposely
- 54:28if there's like a cat claw Bush or whatever, he'll walk around
- 54:32the Bush like he is not walking his COO you material.
- 54:36You may know who I've talked about by now.
- 54:39And his boat through that catcloth, James.
- 54:42Send it. Every time, I mean, we went
- 54:46running after these Javelino this past January, sprinting
- 54:51across the Canyon, down a drainage and back up.
- 54:54And it was, I mean, when you got down there into the thick stuff,
- 55:00James was just like mailing it through there, not stopping.
- 55:03I came out, I thought my strengths were going to call
- 55:05apart him bust because of how much cat claw we ran through.
- 55:09And they didn't look good after that is for sure.
- 55:11But so James could care less. He'll just run through the
- 55:14thickest of bushes, whether it's covered in thorns, whether it's
- 55:18like. It's not your problem is that
- 55:20you get a shower, Yeah. Oh dude, it's actually pretty
- 55:23funny. Like I'll have brands or people
- 55:26go, oh, these these pants right here or these boots like you
- 55:30cannot wear these ones Out I go. I bet within a week, within a
- 55:34week I toasted those suckers. Dude, I bring in boots,
- 55:39especially bro, I'll blow out boots so fast.
- 55:42But I think it's because I hunt a lot of stuff like you have
- 55:44here, rocky, steep and I like will go a lot of mileage for a
- 55:50lot of consecutive days and rock I find we'll just blitz.
- 55:54Side healing That's just going to tear this out of your poop.
- 55:57Forget about it. Yeah.
- 55:59And then pants. Same thing.
- 56:00Like she says. I'm not too.
- 56:01I'll blow right through stuff. So it's fun, but it's what you
- 56:04got to do. It's the price to play, you
- 56:07know? It is.
- 56:08Yeah. It is what it is.
- 56:09Here. My only downside to this trip to
- 56:12Hawaii thus far. My only downside, And it's a
- 56:15small one. It's not a big one, it's very
- 56:16small. Possible.
- 56:17Go right now the only my only. Is the parking is ass?
- 56:25Yeah, parking is. Oh my gosh.
- 56:28But they will tell you of it if you're coming to fly out here
- 56:31and the hotel price is cheaper than the other ones.
- 56:34Check if they don't include. Check if parking is included.
- 56:37Or another protest. Another protest.
- 56:39It is because I was, I was, I was sitting there bantering with
- 56:41someone about it yesterday. I was like, why not just when
- 56:44you rent the hotel? Like I don't even care if it's
- 56:47more expensive. It's just like I don't want to
- 56:49have to worry about an additional cost when I get
- 56:52there. Like I just want to know the all
- 56:53out price or forget it. Oh my gosh, look at that.
- 56:58Is that ADC 10? That thing is huge.
- 57:02I don't know what you thought that 1C3 this.
- 57:05Is C5 or C130? Yeah, I'm not thinking about P3,
- 57:09but that's just bigger than AP. Three, we have a gigantic
- 57:12aircraft flying over. That's all day, every day.
- 57:15That's a wow. They won't hear it on the.
- 57:17No, they won't hear it. I'm just impressed.
- 57:20But you know, we've been at this thing for over an hour.
- 57:23For us is a very long pod, but I'm stoked that we're out here.
- 57:27I've had a blast. Andre is badass, so definitely
- 57:31check out his channel and we're going to link up.
- 57:34We already have plans to link up in the future, so this will not
- 57:36be the last time. And yeah, Javelina would be
- 57:39awesome and then maybe another run across here sometime.
- 57:44But dude bit appreciate the hospitality.
- 57:47Yeah, I won't forget this time. My God is a queen of leaving me
- 57:52hanging. She is she is, and I do have a
- 57:54T-shirt. I I got to get you.
- 57:56So hopefully we'll see you one more time this trip and get that
- 57:58over and and do a little exchange of goods, a little
- 58:02barter, if you will. I love a good old fashioned.
- 58:05Bar have you ever get a big hunt in too for you?
- 58:07Oh, that would be a big hunt. Oh I wouldn't, that seems like
- 58:09something that might be more up my Cape.
- 58:12Yeah. Yeah, we can.
- 58:13We can. I'm still having try for these
- 58:16goats. I'm still going to go up there.
- 58:18Yeah, even if it's steep. My goal is just to get there in
- 58:23the dark. We're in Gray light, you know,
- 58:25or like get up there, sit and then way and start with the OR
- 58:29host. They come right, you know.
- 58:32They got read the right. You get there ahead of time,
- 58:34they're going to read the. Screw well and I I guarantee
- 58:36you, you know, based off our first day of actually hunting,
- 58:40we'll get in on some goats. Definitely that shot was it's a
- 58:43very hard. Shot the go hunting is a
- 58:45fitness. Challenge, not a lot to this.
- 58:47Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. And it was friggin awesome.
- 58:49But like I said, subscribe to the podcast Channel 5 stars on
- 58:52Spotify, Apple, check out Andre once again on Instagram, hit him
- 58:57up for a hat and on YouTube. And yeah, we'll see you again in
- 59:02the next podcast. Appreciate y'all.
