- 1:26Speaker 1: So what's up?
- 1:30Speaker 2: man.
- 1:31Speaker 2: What's up, man it's coming man 10 days.
- 1:38Speaker 1: So hot out, it is so hot.
- 1:41Speaker 1: I love this time of year.
- 1:42Speaker 1: It gets me excited when college football is about to start, but it just gets hotter and hotter every single year.
- 1:51Speaker 2: Imagine Orlando Pre game.
- 1:54Speaker 1: I know it's going to be a scorcher.
- 1:56Speaker 2: Ball soup.
- 1:58Speaker 1: Yeah, man, I can't wait.
- 2:00Speaker 1: It's the big game.
- 2:02Speaker 1: Fowler is going to be doing the game.
- 2:04Speaker 1: He was at practice the other day.
- 2:06Speaker 1: You know.
- 2:08Speaker 1: Have Herb Street, holly Rowe doing the game.
- 2:11Speaker 1: It's the A team man, yeah.
- 2:15Speaker 2: I mean it's probably biggest, the biggest matchup.
- 2:18Speaker 1: Oh, definitely, definitely A battle of preseason top 10 teams.
- 2:22Speaker 1: Where do you have FSU?
- 2:28Speaker 1: I know, I know you're pessimist, but you're just about that chart.
- 2:32Speaker 1: Who do you see starting on that defensive side of the ball for FSU going into this game?
- 2:40Speaker 2: Start with D line.
- 2:41Speaker 2: I mean, I think you know, at tackle I think you have to have Fisk and love it.
- 2:50Speaker 2: You didn't bring Fiske in to not be out there on first down.
- 2:56Speaker 2: You know, just love it.
- 2:59Speaker 2: You know, I don't know how much he's gone this camp, I don't care if he's had a light load and whatever he was out there throwing offensive linemen around today.
- 3:07Speaker 2: So I mean I think those are your two starting tackles, first down, first defensive series, and you got Peyton and Jared verse on each side.
- 3:17Speaker 2: You know I'm assuming they'll come out with a 4-2-5, that they run predominantly.
- 3:23Speaker 2: Right, so you know, back in linebacker you'll have Bethune.
- 3:28Speaker 2: Those are your two starters, I mean.
- 3:30Speaker 2: I think that's pretty much kind of set.
- 3:33Speaker 2: The real question is the back Right, the back five, the secondary.
- 3:37Speaker 2: I'm going to say that they'll probably start at safety Shaheen Brown and Akeem Dent.
- 3:43Speaker 2: I don't think you're going to see one of those young freshmen crack the starting lineup, no matter how impressive they've been, you know.
- 3:50Speaker 2: So corner becomes kind of what do you do there?
- 3:54Speaker 2: And I think that that Renardo green staying at corner and not making the transition to safety, you know, I think that means he's probably gonna be one of your outside guys and I'm I'm thinking, since it's game one, they're gonna go Jerry and Jones on the other outside, just because he has the experience.
- 4:12Speaker 2: He came on at the end of last season.
- 4:14Speaker 2: He's he's been playing your most consistent out of any returning defensive back.
- 4:18Speaker 2: I think those will be your two corners and then with the slot position, I think you're gonna find Cyprus.
- 4:27Speaker 2: But that the thing is is with the secondary man.
- 4:30Speaker 2: I think you're gonna see as much rotation With those defensive backs that you do at defensive tackle, especially like there's gonna be fresh guys out there.
- 4:38Speaker 2: I don't know if it's gonna be like that at the safety position, but you know, at corner I mean, you got guys like Thomas, you got got greedy Vance, you know guys that are that are starter level corners out there.
- 4:50Speaker 2: They're gonna have to get on the field, man.
- 4:51Speaker 2: It's.
- 4:52Speaker 2: It's a good problem to have, but I think they're gonna opt to go with experience With Jones and green on the outside of corners, so that I think that'll be your starting defense, mainly be for a play, and you start seeing other guys come in and just sort of rotate out.
- 5:08Speaker 2: I Like it.
- 5:11Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean it's.
- 5:12Speaker 2: You got experience, you got production pretty much Through in every spot, man.
- 5:18Speaker 2: So it's a it's a good starting 11 and the second area is gonna.
- 5:21Speaker 2: They're gonna need to be on point.
- 5:23Speaker 2: You're gonna have to keep them fresh because they're gonna be running.
- 5:25Speaker 2: You know LSU's got some receivers that can stretch the field who that?
- 5:29Speaker 1: who does LSU have?
- 5:30Speaker 1: How does the LSU match up against this defense?
- 5:33Speaker 1: I?
- 5:34Speaker 2: Mean.
- 5:34Speaker 2: I think they match up extremely well.
- 5:36Speaker 2: You know it's just they, the consistency coming from the quarterback spot.
- 5:41Speaker 2: You know, if you see the Jaden Daniels that that is the good Jaden Daniels it's gonna be a battle man.
- 5:47Speaker 2: You know they have Malik neighbors coming back.
- 5:49Speaker 2: That's their proven returner.
- 5:51Speaker 2: But you also have guys Shelton, samson, aaron Anderson, you know Chris Hilton Jr.
- 5:56Speaker 2: These are guys that are your underclassmen, that are unproven, but they're all top 100 recruits out of the state of Louisiana, all kids that had every sec school, a sec school after them.
- 6:07Speaker 2: You know the the kind of receivers.
- 6:09Speaker 2: You expect LSU to try it out there.
- 6:12Speaker 2: They'll Only thing they haven't done is produced so it.
- 6:16Speaker 2: But hey, you know, they just haven't had the shot.
- 6:19Speaker 2: Man, yeah, it's, it's.
- 6:21Speaker 2: I think that you'll see LSU try to try to throw the ball Most of the game.
- 6:26Speaker 2: Oh, and any kind of run will come, kind of secondary, and obviously you got to watch for Jane Daniels.
- 6:32Speaker 2: The wrapping up and tackling of Daniels is going to be key.
- 6:37Speaker 1: So it's that day gum safety position that you're kind of worries you a little bit.
- 6:42Speaker 2: It does I just it.
- 6:47Speaker 1: Just going to be relying on younger guys.
- 6:50Speaker 2: Yeah, and I've seen too many of Adam Fuller's secondaries get the ball thrown over the top of them.
- 6:56Speaker 2: You know dent is about as reliable as you're going to get Shaheen Brown a lot of athleticism, you know I just that's where LSU is going to be looking to attack.
- 7:10Speaker 2: Yeah, I think both teams are going to try to attack the secondary.
- 7:13Speaker 2: I think that's the on each defense.
- 7:15Speaker 2: The weakest spot, if there is a weakness, is going to be that back end.
- 7:21Speaker 1: Well, who are some names before the season start?
- 7:24Speaker 1: That of the freshmen or guys that haven't played for FSU on defense, that FSU fans are going to all know at the end of the season.
- 7:34Speaker 2: Well, they're going to remember the name Conrad Hussie, just because it's a great name.
- 7:38Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 7:39Speaker 2: I think he's also going to really impress people when he gets on the field.
- 7:42Speaker 2: You know Blake Nicholson.
- 7:44Speaker 2: Just because he's a Cali kid, I mean he may get a shot.
- 7:48Speaker 2: Oh man.
- 7:49Speaker 1: Yeah, the linebacker.
- 7:50Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:50Speaker 1: Yeah, in California.
- 7:51Speaker 2: Yep, ryan Atwood yeah.
- 7:53Speaker 1: Yeah, man, he's going to, he's going to play.
- 7:56Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, he'll be on special teams and you know the depth at linebacker is not not extensive.
- 8:02Speaker 1: I think both of these I was looking at Hussie and Nicholson.
- 8:06Speaker 2: Yeah, and you know Azi Tom I call him Azi Azrae Thomas man.
- 8:11Speaker 2: I think that he has a really good chance at breaking out this season eventually getting into that starting lineup on the outside at corner.
- 8:20Speaker 2: Apparently that the matchups between him and Keon Coleman in practice have been pretty much the only time anybody's been competitive against Keon Coleman man.
- 8:29Speaker 2: I love hearing that.
- 8:30Speaker 2: Yeah, so I think, he just brings something that we don't really have at corner, which is that length and just the strength and athleticism.
- 8:37Speaker 2: So I'm really excited to see him get on the field, even though, even if he's not out there, on down number one he's going to play.
- 8:45Speaker 2: So that those three guys, man, I think you watch for him, you watch for Hussie Nicholson and you know number 20 out there, azrae Thomas, nice with Florida.
- 8:56Speaker 1: All right.
- 8:56Speaker 1: Well, some news on the other side of the ball, as it pertains to LSU, as their star defensive tackle, mason Smith, has been ruled ineligible for this first game.
- 9:09Speaker 2: He's just not going to get to play against FSU ever, is he?
- 9:12Speaker 1: No man, he's just unfortunate man.
- 9:14Speaker 2: It is.
- 9:15Speaker 2: It is.
- 9:15Speaker 2: He's a good player.
- 9:16Speaker 2: He's a really good player.
- 9:17Speaker 1: He's been proved in that play before he injured himself last year.
- 9:21Speaker 2: Yeah, and I mean what they, what was coming out of practice reports and you know on the Internet about him during during camp this past few weeks.
- 9:29Speaker 2: Even at like 75, 80 percent back from that injury, he was still a problem, Like he was still just just disrupting everything for their, their offense.
- 9:39Speaker 2: So it is, it's a blow, but unless you they have defensive linemen.
- 9:44Speaker 2: They've got kids that were blue chips.
- 9:46Speaker 2: You know, Bryce Langston, they got that.
- 9:48Speaker 2: Wingo kid, that is going to be really dangerous coming off the edge.
- 9:52Speaker 2: But yeah, it's, it's a, it's a big blow, man, you know I don't want to say you know I'm not going to thank thankfully for it.
- 10:00Speaker 2: You know it's, it's an injury or not an injury, but it's unfortunate.
- 10:03Speaker 2: But Florida State kind of kind of dodges another bullet there, all right, two years.
- 10:10Speaker 1: Yeah Well, you know I try not to look at this conference realignment stuff, but you know it's.
- 10:17Speaker 1: I keep hearing that Stanford or yeah, Stanford.
- 10:22Speaker 1: Cal SMU are back on the table.
- 10:25Speaker 2: I don't know man no.
- 10:28Speaker 1: I think FSU is going to get out of there.
- 10:30Speaker 2: Can we just get SMU to buy our spot for us?
- 10:33Speaker 2: There you go.
- 10:34Speaker 2: I hear they got these mega donors and hundreds of millions of dollars at their disposal.
- 10:39Speaker 2: Tell you what buy us out of our rights agreement.
- 10:44Speaker 1: That's the elephant in the room.
- 10:45Speaker 1: I wonder if they'll talk about that on the telecast.
- 10:50Speaker 1: That's a good question.
- 10:53Speaker 2: I doubt it.
- 10:53Speaker 2: I mean, I think it would probably have to be a blowout on yeah and you keep it at the game.
- 10:58Speaker 1: It's the game's going to be so good.
- 11:00Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:00Speaker 2: I'm sure there'll be some talk about it, though maybe just like a little headline I do find it funny that people are like oh man, now FSU is going to just get it from the ACC refs.
- 11:11Speaker 2: Well, that's just what's new man?
- 11:15Speaker 2: Business as usual.
- 11:17Speaker 1: Yeah, that's true.
- 11:18Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:19Speaker 1: Hopefully, you know, it won't get it too bad.
- 11:23Speaker 2: Even if it shouldn't matter.
- 11:24Speaker 2: But I don't know.
- 11:26Speaker 2: I just went out of this conference.
- 11:29Speaker 1: It's not.
- 11:29Speaker 1: You know you have to be able to compete.
- 11:31Speaker 1: Florida State's just looking around them.
- 11:33Speaker 1: You know they're looking around them and looking at the money and you can see all the.
- 11:38Speaker 2: I don't see how it doesn't terrify the AD at Miami and the AD at Clemson, and like I don't care that Miami is a private school, that Clemson has a mega church that they can, you know, extort money through.
- 11:49Speaker 2: I don't care about any of that.
- 11:51Speaker 2: Like you're talking about their direct competition making like standing to make hundreds of millions of dollars more and over the next few decades.
- 12:01Speaker 1: Yeah, that's, carolina beat him last year.
- 12:04Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, and it's not just indirect, right.
- 12:08Speaker 1: They're still.
- 12:09Speaker 1: They're still pretty good, like really good, and stuff Like I guess I don't know.
- 12:13Speaker 1: You could see this, as I could see it last year.
- 12:17Speaker 1: I mean, you could see it once the TV deals, you could see it in the making.
- 12:20Speaker 1: It's just, it's going to be a battle between the TV networks.
- 12:24Speaker 2: Fox you can get the best rating Fox versus ABC and fans are fans of the team.
- 12:33Speaker 1: Hope that your teams in one of those super leagues and they want, they want, like the teams to want to get out and they wanted ACC's got to be next on the chopping block.
- 12:46Speaker 2: Yeah, I think they're right now.
- 12:47Speaker 2: They're just like a farm system for that'll be next season.
- 12:50Speaker 2: Sec is going to chop them up.
- 12:52Speaker 2: Take what they want, sell off the parts.
- 12:54Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, unfortunate, but right now the Notre Dame is telling the ACC what to do.
- 13:01Speaker 2: This is what.
- 13:02Speaker 2: That's what Cal and Stanford and all of that is.
- 13:05Speaker 1: So, and they just love being an independent.
- 13:07Speaker 1: They're not getting rid of that.
- 13:09Speaker 2: No no they're not.
- 13:10Speaker 2: They're not.
- 13:11Speaker 2: They're never joining a conference until it becomes more lucrative for them to join a conference in football, which it won't.
- 13:17Speaker 2: I mean it could if everyone joins the SEC or the Big 10.
- 13:21Speaker 2: You know, right but yeah why join a conference when you have your own channel already?
- 13:28Speaker 2: They've had it for decades, man.
- 13:29Speaker 1: I know.
- 13:29Speaker 1: I mean, they have it, they have that tradition.
- 13:33Speaker 1: Why would you want out of it?
- 13:34Speaker 1: And if you want to compete, which I know FSU does, and I know that there are other teams I heard the coach, the infamous North Carolina soccer coach.
- 13:49Speaker 1: Oh yeah yeah, he was really upset about just the idea of it.
- 13:53Speaker 2: I mean he's right, he's right man, yeah, he's right.
- 13:57Speaker 1: I mean, just like you got to send, you got to travel across the country now just to play a soccer game or you know it's and they can use it again.
- 14:04Speaker 1: It's against you and recruiting now because yeah it doesn't make any sense.
- 14:11Speaker 2: Atlantic coast and if you look at the ocean here, if you look at the ocean here, there's a huge land max.
- 14:17Speaker 1: Yeah, you're going to change the name of the of the conference, then yeah, I mean, I don't know they say it's a big.
- 14:23Speaker 1: I mean Big 10.
- 14:24Speaker 1: But I mean where they just big conference.
- 14:26Speaker 1: They want to just be big 12.
- 14:29Speaker 2: Essentially, I think what's going to have to happen is you're going to have to have the football teams at schools play in their own league, not even be part of any kind of conference or anything like that, and you're just gonna have to let the actual university programs, athletic programs like just remain in their conference Because, you're right, no other sport outside of football can logistically you know like, financially survive traveling across the country.
- 14:58Speaker 2: Women's soccer cannot.
- 14:59Speaker 2: Any soccer, you know, baseball can't even, can't even really survive it.
- 15:04Speaker 1: Yeah, so it's just kind of that's definitely Notre Dame pushing that.
- 15:08Speaker 2: Oh yeah, football is pushing academic.
- 15:10Speaker 2: Well, they want it.
- 15:11Speaker 2: They want to have Stanford as a conference game.
- 15:15Speaker 2: Yeah, so they can schedule another big 10 team and get that payout.
- 15:19Speaker 2: It's if Stanford, because they have to play the rival and they got to play a select number of ACC teams.
- 15:25Speaker 2: So if you can kill two birds with one stone and then slide in another bottom feeder big 10 team, that's going to have a huge payout.
- 15:32Speaker 2: Why wouldn't you?
- 15:33Speaker 2: Yeah, that's, that's their move.
- 15:37Speaker 1: Yeah, it's ready for the games.
- 15:41Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, all it is is just stuff to to fill the offseason.
- 15:46Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 15:46Speaker 2: Once the game starts, nobody's going to really be talking about this until you know, right next year.
- 15:53Speaker 1: Well, I'm going to pick my playoff.
- 15:56Speaker 1: I think I did mine.
- 15:58Speaker 1: I have Texas going in.
- 16:01Speaker 2: Oh OK.
- 16:03Speaker 1: Big 12.
- 16:03Speaker 1: Sec champions going to be Georgia.
- 16:07Speaker 1: No surprise there.
- 16:08Speaker 1: Big shock Although they did lose.
- 16:10Speaker 2: They did lose another running back for the year.
- 16:13Speaker 2: Really, yeah, they're getting pretty thin in the running back room.
- 16:16Speaker 2: Hey, yeah.
- 16:19Speaker 1: If there's a weakness Right, we'll see.
- 16:21Speaker 1: I still have them going like because they could be undefeated and lose the SEC championship game.
- 16:28Speaker 1: Still probably go, yeah, yeah If that's the only loss.
- 16:35Speaker 2: Well, that's two of them.
- 16:36Speaker 2: Florida State, there it is.
- 16:39Speaker 1: Boom, there it is 12 and one, 12 and one.
- 16:43Speaker 1: And I told you I just couldn't see FSU Beating Clemson.
- 16:48Speaker 1: I mean I could actually, but up there in Death Valley if something happens, but then they come back.
- 16:55Speaker 2: You think they get another shot?
- 16:55Speaker 2: Oh yeah.
- 16:57Speaker 1: Oh yeah, those are.
- 16:57Speaker 1: Those are the best two teams in the conference.
- 16:59Speaker 1: I could easily see whoever loses that game winning out, and they'll go.
- 17:05Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:05Speaker 1: If it's, if you went out, you're going to go.
- 17:09Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:09Speaker 1: Nobody else beats you and you only lose to Clemson or Clemson only loses to Florida State.
- 17:14Speaker 1: They're going, so I think those two are going to play twice this year.
- 17:19Speaker 1: I think FSU goes one and one in that and wins every other game and will be in the playoff.
- 17:24Speaker 1: How about it, man?
- 17:25Speaker 1: Come on now.
- 17:26Speaker 1: That's three, that's three and the fourth one will be we're going to get another SEC team in there.
- 17:32Speaker 1: No, it's going to be someone from the back 12.
- 17:35Speaker 2: No big 10.
- 17:36Speaker 2: Well, that's going to be the toughie which conference gets less down?
- 17:45Speaker 1: Oh man, I really didn't think about that.
- 17:48Speaker 1: I think I got.
- 17:54Speaker 2: We got to think of the teams, man.
- 17:56Speaker 2: Which one, which one out of, say, michigan or USC, is more likely to go undefeated, given their schedule, given everything?
- 18:07Speaker 1: Well, I just put myself in a corner here by trying to do that, but give me Huskies of Washington.
- 18:17Speaker 2: There you go, I like it.
- 18:18Speaker 2: That's what I'm thinking.
- 18:19Speaker 2: Phoenix getting spicy.
- 18:21Speaker 2: Michael Phoenix, phoenix, phoenix Phoenix, young man who has offered a walk on spot by Willie Taggart.
- 18:29Speaker 1: Incredible, that's right.
- 18:30Speaker 1: There you go.
- 18:33Speaker 2: That kind of stuff Washington.
- 18:34Speaker 1: Texas, florida state and Georgia is my college football.
- 18:39Speaker 2: That's a hell of a playoff right there yeah.
- 18:41Speaker 1: Yeah, it's no way.
- 18:42Speaker 1: That comes to no way, no way.
- 18:46Speaker 1: I just think honestly, if anybody, there's no way anyone gets to the back 12.
- 18:51Speaker 1: I'd be shocked at the big 10 doesn't make it, but you never know they could go from.
- 18:55Speaker 1: That would be two teams in the playoff one year with no teams out.
- 19:00Speaker 1: That would never happen.
- 19:01Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 19:02Speaker 2: So you got Michigan and I mean it gets boring thing Just the other way is just so boring dude.
- 19:08Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 19:09Speaker 2: All right, big 10s back in Michigan, ohio State.
- 19:11Speaker 2: All right, damn it.
- 19:13Speaker 1: Austin TC you last year.
- 19:14Speaker 1: But yeah, I think Texas has the talent.
- 19:18Speaker 1: Well, they have the talent.
- 19:20Speaker 1: Will they be able to get the quarterback play?
- 19:23Speaker 1: Defense is what always Right.
- 19:25Speaker 2: I mean, I'm not trying to offend anybody, but I've always that's my I'm going with Texas defense Defense.
- 19:31Speaker 2: Once you get west of the Mississippi man, it gets soft.
- 19:33Speaker 2: And if they go wrong, I'm going to bash him.
- 19:36Speaker 2: Yeah, that's.
- 19:39Speaker 2: That's what Sarkees is good for man.
- 19:43Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 19:44Speaker 2: Well, uh, oh, nine wins Steve.
- 19:48Speaker 1: Yeah, I know I can't.
- 19:49Speaker 1: Well, that's 12 and one for me, Big time.
- 19:51Speaker 1: No, I'm going undefeated.
- 19:53Speaker 1: We don't?
- 19:55Speaker 2: I mean that's it's going to be.
- 19:56Speaker 2: We don't ask Reno his predictions.
- 19:57Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah we didn't know.
