- 0:54[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 0:54[SPEAKER_00]: Well, why I do the camera.
- 0:56[SPEAKER_01]: So I make you a straight man.
- 0:58[SPEAKER_00]: Good.
- 0:59[SPEAKER_00]: It could make me the non straight man in either way.
- 1:01[SPEAKER_00]: I'm the funny one.
- 1:02[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 1:02[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:03[SPEAKER_01]: You keep talking like that.
- 1:04[SPEAKER_01]: On today's episode of cheesy popcorn.
- 1:06[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to talk about our favorite science fiction TV shows of all time.
- 1:11[SPEAKER_01]: And then a big review.
- 1:12[SPEAKER_01]: And I mean, not, I don't know why I can't say that.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_01]: I keep tripping nominated TV show because you weren't.
- 1:18[SPEAKER_00]: I could say it because I was nominated three times.
- 1:21[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh,
- 1:37[SPEAKER_00]: you get a car, you get a car, that's for sure.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_00]: She didn't give away cars either, by the way.
- 1:42[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, Toyota gave the cars.
- 1:44[SPEAKER_01]: Well, whatever, it was on her show and she got credit cards.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_01]: Like when she shows, so like I was watching, this is totally off topic, but I was watching family feud the other day.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_01]: And like,
- 1:56[SPEAKER_01]: one of the things was like TV show people who are famous for giving stuff away or something like that.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_01]: And then like they guessed everybody else and then finally said somebody said Oprah.
- 2:06[SPEAKER_01]: And then they were like, wait a second.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_01]: Why?
- 2:09[SPEAKER_01]: And it was on there.
- 2:10[SPEAKER_01]: And the person was like, you get a car.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_01]: You'll get a car.
- 2:12[SPEAKER_01]: You get me.
- 2:12[SPEAKER_00]: So anyway, whatever.
- 2:13[SPEAKER_00]: She had a mishep when she was doing a presentation.
- 2:17[SPEAKER_00]: She slipped on the stage and fell.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_00]: And you know what she said when she got up?
- 2:21[SPEAKER_00]: No.
- 2:21[SPEAKER_00]: You're getting sued and you're getting sued and you're getting sued and you're getting sued.
- 2:24[SPEAKER_01]: You're welcome.
- 2:25[SPEAKER_01]: Why don't I feel like this is who's on first?
- 2:27[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, that's what it's treatment.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_01]: You're welcome.
- 2:31[SPEAKER_01]: So like I said, we're going to review death by lightning.
- 2:34[SPEAKER_01]: If we ever get to that point, of course, too many tangents here.
- 2:37[SPEAKER_01]: And then let's talk about the movies that are coming out this weekend.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_01]: stuff coming out really because none of these seem good to me at all.
- 2:45[SPEAKER_01]: Jason Statham in the same thing I've seen over and over again for about 20 times.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_01]: Minus the fact that it was Jason Statham.
- 2:52[SPEAKER_01]: Let's talk about the the movie mutiny, right, which basically should just be called under siege.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_01]: Steven's a goal right so let's just be honest with each other.
- 3:00[SPEAKER_01]: It's like the same thing They're basically what a billionaire boss murder what is witnessed and then he's framed for a crime Cole read is the guy that Jason Statham plays he boards a cargo ship on a one-man crusade to have to avenge his boss's death
- 3:17[SPEAKER_01]: Only to discover there's an international conspiracy.
- 3:19[SPEAKER_00]: That's under siege all over again and the two under siege movies We're actually pretty good.
- 3:24[SPEAKER_01]: The only thing we're missing is is what's his dealings?
- 3:26[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, Steven Sagao He's not Steven Sagao anymore.
- 3:29[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, oh, what is he now?
- 3:30[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah, he's like some Hindu guy He's deep in a religion or something.
- 3:35[SPEAKER_01]: He's hair looks painted on well, it always did no, it looks slick back But now it looks painted on it looks like it looked painted on the me back in the day, too
- 3:45[SPEAKER_01]: Up next is a spa week I know what you're not above my law, okay, that's what he says Yeah, in a different movie in a different movie, right, which is called above the law.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, exactly
- 3:57[SPEAKER_01]: spot weekend is up next uh... it's basically three best friends uh... who embark on uh... you know a much needed pampering weekend uh... at a luxury spot in palm springs uh... but it's not the rom-com or anything it's kind of a
- 4:14[SPEAKER_01]: It looks like one of those situational companies, like it just, I shouldn't say situational comedy because that would make it a sitcom, but it just, I don't know, it just, okay, you know what it looks like?
- 4:23[SPEAKER_01]: This is what reminds me of.
- 4:24[SPEAKER_01]: It looks like hot-touch time machine, hot-touch time machine, or couples retreat, all over it.
- 4:29[SPEAKER_01]: So again, this is what I'm saying, none of these movies this week, even in all of these Hollywood.
- 4:34[SPEAKER_01]: That's my point.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_01]: That is totally my point.
- 4:37[SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_01]: And then speaking of things that are gone in Sidious, do we need none of these?
- 4:42[SPEAKER_01]: Seriously?
- 4:44[SPEAKER_01]: Is there any of the end, who's in this?
- 4:46[SPEAKER_01]: Like,
- 4:48[SPEAKER_01]: Lynn Shia, Laura, I mean, I don't even know the people who are in this movie, but it's another insidious movie.
- 4:54[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think that's an insidious, that's an insidious, yeah.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_00]: I think all the A-list actors that do voiceovers for cartoons.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_01]: They must be, it's called the insidious out of the further, so I guess if you're looking for a home movie further, that's not even grammatically correct.
- 5:10[SPEAKER_00]: Hey, you know what, I don't, I don't write these things, I just recite them, okay?
- 5:13[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 5:14[SPEAKER_01]: um... and then uh... let's see the last one at least the magical faraway tree
- 5:20[SPEAKER_00]: magical far away tree.
- 5:23[SPEAKER_01]: It's based on a worldwide bestselling novel.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_01]: It's basically follows a couple of people are mom and dad and their three children as they begin a new life in the remote countryside.
- 5:35[SPEAKER_01]: And then the kids discover a magical tree.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_01]: It near their home.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_01]: And they're walking by a extraordinary residence and swept into a spectacular fantastical land beyond their wildest dreams.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_00]: You know what this sounds like?
- 5:44[SPEAKER_00]: It sounds like the tree has some interesting leaves that they are rolling up.
- 5:48[SPEAKER_01]: No, it
- 5:50[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, okay.
- 5:50[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like the me.
- 5:51[SPEAKER_01]: It sounds like the lion the witch in the wardrobe.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_00]: That's what it sounds like to but three kids go into a wardrobe And a magical tree.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_00]: I think the leaves are probably green We're all muffin up.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_00]: What was that?
- 6:01[SPEAKER_01]: What was that TV show Back in the day where they clearly were smoking pot like the 60s.
- 6:07[SPEAKER_01]: Hufflepuff or something like that
- 6:10[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, hoff and puffer, that's it.
- 6:11[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 6:12[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 6:12[SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
- 6:12[SPEAKER_01]: Because that's all they were doing.
- 6:14[SPEAKER_01]: They weren't like.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, so those are the movies this week.
- 6:18[SPEAKER_01]: I know could care less about any of them, but I know you're going to say, of course you are.
- 6:23[SPEAKER_01]: So you can review that because I won't.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, I'll do mutely.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_01]: I don't say a point in going to go see under siege one and two in the same movie.
- 6:31[SPEAKER_00]: I like Jason.
- 6:33[SPEAKER_01]: I know you do, and he was good the first couple of movies that he was in and then after that I might do it.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_01]: It's the same old stuff.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_00]: I know, but you know what?
- 6:39[SPEAKER_00]: I've got to like about him.
- 6:40[SPEAKER_00]: I like actors to stay in their genre.
- 6:43[SPEAKER_00]: You know, he did do a little bit of a, oh, that's what I was going to say that he did okay in, but if when he stays in his genre, be keeper, working man, the transporter movies, he's just excellent.
- 6:55[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you know, so I watched the mutiny preview.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_01]: It was, it was when I, when I actually, when I went to go see Spider-Man,
- 7:04[SPEAKER_01]: It was one of the previews before and I was like, why does he remind me of like Bruce Willis from back in the day doing the same shit that Bruce Willis used to do over and over Okay, a little different like Bruce Willis see to me.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I just like Jason.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_00]: I think he's he's one of the I'd like to meet him and just see if he's just a nice guy seems like a nice guy
- 7:26[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_00]: After you beat everybody up.
- 7:28[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 7:28[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 7:29[SPEAKER_01]: You'll review that and I'm going to review the new TV series that's on HBO Max called lanterns.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, you do that because I don't have HBO Max.
- 7:35[SPEAKER_00]: I know know that which is what you threw it in my face once more.
- 7:38[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, oh, do you need a tissue?
- 7:40[SPEAKER_01]: Or maybe some cheese to go with the wine, which one is it?
- 7:44[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, exactly.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, look, he's crying folks.
- 7:47[SPEAKER_01]: Oh look at that.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, oh poor baby.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_01]: Oh I'm sure you I'm sure you could fangirl some dollar 90.
- 7:55[SPEAKER_01]: No, you think like you did with not flicks I couldn't you probably just gotta pull off I can't remember to say this you probably just seem to pull out what's that card called when it came no when you're over 50 What does it call when you get the discounts and all that stuff like I think of it because you're not over 50
- 8:13[SPEAKER_00]: I am.
- 8:14[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, then you should have it, but I don't, I don't know why, because I don't, I'm in denial, I'm in chipset.
- 8:21[SPEAKER_00]: AARP, that's it.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_00]: I got that at 50.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_00]: I started using that bad boy right away.
- 8:25[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, okay.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_00]: I'm telling you, it's great.
- 8:28[SPEAKER_00]: I get free membership to do that.
- 8:31[SPEAKER_01]: So maybe you can find an HBO Max membership to your AARP for that, but for other things.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_01]: All right, so there you go.
- 8:38[SPEAKER_01]: So, death by lightning.
- 8:40[SPEAKER_01]: What did you think of the Netflix TV series?
- 8:43[SPEAKER_01]: What was that?
- 8:43[SPEAKER_01]: That was excellent.
- 8:44[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 8:44[SPEAKER_00]: I thought it was actually, and I'd give it a eight and a half.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_00]: I knew Garfield was a president.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_00]: He's also a cat who likes lasagna.
- 8:53[SPEAKER_00]: In this case, we're talking about the president who wasn't president for very long.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_00]: Take it easy, Odie.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_00]: But he, uh, or do I need to call you John?
- 9:02[SPEAKER_00]: I did some research on him too, by the way, before I watched the, the series.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_00]: I watched a four, I watched two one night, two the next night.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_00]: I did some research on him and had he not been assassinated.
- 9:14[SPEAKER_00]: I think that he would have done a lot of really good things.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_01]: He probably would have been as famous as Lincoln, if not more so.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_00]: Pretty, yeah, pretty close.
- 9:25[SPEAKER_00]: Pretty close.
- 9:26[SPEAKER_00]: I thought that the I thought the acting was good the guy who plays gutter Goeter The assassin yeah, I don't know he was in something else.
- 9:38[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, good show.
- 9:39[SPEAKER_00]: He was in something else.
- 9:40[SPEAKER_00]: I can't think of what else he was in if you can find it
- 9:44[SPEAKER_00]: He kind of played because I'm always doing your research for you.
- 9:46[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and I thought he was a little over the top.
- 9:50[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I can't imagine that all of that stuff really transpired.
- 9:53[SPEAKER_00]: I think there's a lot of creative license here, but he played the role well enough to me.
- 10:00[SPEAKER_00]: What I loved about it, man, this first one was filmed in Budapest.
- 10:03[SPEAKER_00]: It was beautiful.
- 10:03[SPEAKER_01]: You think Matthew McFadden was over the top?
- 10:07[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I thought he was.
- 10:09[SPEAKER_01]: Really?
- 10:10[SPEAKER_01]: I thought he was acting as illness to the best of his ability.
- 10:14[SPEAKER_00]: I thought he took it over the top a little bit.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_00]: I thought the guy...
- 10:18[SPEAKER_01]: But think about this, think about the snake oil salesmen from back in the day.
- 10:21[SPEAKER_01]: They were all over the top.
- 10:22[SPEAKER_01]: Oh no, I just...
- 10:23[SPEAKER_01]: But they were all over the top.
- 10:26[SPEAKER_00]: come as are it with their what they were doing there's a 25 cent word wow yeah you were that when it did you reach out to the actor and maybe the director told him to but he just kind of took it over the top of me again film the Budapest beautiful beautiful scenery cinematography was excellent the costume mean was excellent the music was excellent the man
- 10:48[SPEAKER_00]: What a mirror to today showing the corruption with President Grant and the very, very rich.
- 10:52[SPEAKER_01]: Well, the whole, the whole, the whole, the whole, the whole, the whole, the whole, the whole, the whole, the whole, the whole, the whole, the whole, the whole, the whole, the whole, the whole, the whole, the whole, the whole, the whole, the whole, the whole, the whole, the whole, the whole, the whole, the whole, the whole, the whole, the whole, the whole, the whole, the whole, the whole, the whole, the whole, the whole, the whole, the whole, the whole, the whole, the whole, the whole, the whole, the whole, the whole, the whole, the whole, the whole, the whole, the whole, the whole, the whole, the whole, the whole, the whole, the whole, the whole, the whole, the whole, the whole, the whole, the whole, the whole, the whole, the whole,
- 11:11[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not saying I'm not saying that Grant probably didn't go ball.
- 11:14[SPEAKER_00]: I think he was in that conglomerate right.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_00]: Conglomerate was the driving force.
- 11:18[SPEAKER_00]: He was a real guy, I have a seat, but they're over.
- 11:21[SPEAKER_00]: Man, talk about pin pointing the lunacy that is going on today.
- 11:26[SPEAKER_00]: And the parallels to January 6, we're now talking about basically overthrowing everything.
- 11:30[SPEAKER_00]: It's just amazing to me.
- 11:33[SPEAKER_00]: Again, costume sets, absolutely beautiful.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_00]: edition of or the that they had in there when when he was shot that it was an African-American doctor who first treated them then probably would have saved them but that's true right I'm saying probably would have saved them had not been for the white doctor who came in and there were a lot of wrong things white and gave them subsets which is what he really ended up dying from
- 12:03[SPEAKER_00]: Um, Chester Arthur, I looked him up to, um, I like the, that's the guy from Parks and Recreation, um, playing him.
- 12:09[SPEAKER_00]: I thought he, I thought he did a really nice job.
- 12:11[SPEAKER_00]: Nick Offerman.
- 12:12[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you.
- 12:13[SPEAKER_00]: I thought he did a really nice job playing him.
- 12:15[SPEAKER_00]: And, and the, I think he, I think he, the character was right there with him all the way to the end when he kind of does a, a reversal.
- 12:24[SPEAKER_00]: And then I looked him up to and he did some really good things after he took over for Garfield as well.
- 12:31[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm sorry, but it's my pet peeve.
- 12:36[SPEAKER_00]: Nobody was using mother effort in 1881 or the F word.
- 12:43[SPEAKER_00]: And they use it, Franklin uses it all the time.
- 12:46[SPEAKER_00]: There's so much language here that's not, has not been invented yet, that they're using in this series.
- 12:52[SPEAKER_00]: And is it just for shock value?
- 12:54[SPEAKER_00]: I don't understand.
- 12:55[SPEAKER_00]: why they do it, if you're gonna do this kind of a movie, this kind of a series, you have to be authentic.
- 13:04[SPEAKER_00]: Nobody can have a Rolex, nobody can have an iPad, nobody can have a Mac, everything has to be authentic to the period and it was except for the damn language again.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_01]: But I counteract or counter, I counter debate what you're saying, because actually the word fuck,
- 13:24[SPEAKER_01]: Actually the earliest known speaking of the word is 1380.
- 13:28[SPEAKER_00]: That is correct, but not mother at first.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, it doesn't matter But you said no, because you said the F bombs so the F bombs would still was still sadly Okay, but we're talking about politics been used in this I don't think Conklin would have used either of those two words
- 13:45[SPEAKER_00]: There are other words you would have used Bastard.
- 13:47[SPEAKER_00]: It's been around for a long, long time.
- 13:49[SPEAKER_00]: He used that word.
- 13:51[SPEAKER_00]: But this hate when it's just like, I'm like, why do you have to, why, why, why, why, why?
- 13:56[SPEAKER_00]: Like having Betty White unceded in the night life and do
- 14:01[SPEAKER_00]: comedy that says an old lady using words that old people don't normally use.
- 14:05[SPEAKER_00]: When you have this brilliant actress who's had done so much and you can parody the Murray-Talomore show, you can parody golden girls, you can parody password so much and when they finally got around the show they just turned it into here's an old lady saying things you wouldn't normally hear an old lady saying.
- 14:21[SPEAKER_00]: Just it made me so mad I'm such a big fan of hers and when I saw them do that it just made me so mad and that's why I think I'm
- 14:29[SPEAKER_00]: adamant about, if you're going to do a period piece, use the language of the time, and don't just throw them into throw it in because you think he might have said that, or it'll add a little shock value to it.
- 14:44[SPEAKER_00]: Conchlor was a bad guy without any of that.
- 14:47[SPEAKER_00]: Without any of that, the character, the actor to play them did a great job, by the way.
- 14:53[SPEAKER_00]: So he didn't need all of that to carry the character off in my opinion.
- 14:56[SPEAKER_00]: So, but I still give it a day and a half.
- 14:58[SPEAKER_00]: I thought it was very well done.
- 14:59[SPEAKER_00]: I learned a whole lot about Garfield about what was going on back in those times.
- 15:05[SPEAKER_00]: And what he was fighting for, which is, you know, what we've been fighting for ever since you got assassinated, sadly.
- 15:13[SPEAKER_00]: So there you go.
- 15:15[SPEAKER_00]: Top that.
- 15:16[SPEAKER_01]: Top that?
- 15:17[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, good.
- 15:18[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, top that.
- 15:19[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 15:19[SPEAKER_00]: I'll fucking top it, motherfucker.
- 15:21[SPEAKER_01]: How's that?
- 15:24[SPEAKER_01]: So to your point about the M. F. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R. R
- 15:46[SPEAKER_01]: because that came about way earlier than that.
- 15:48[SPEAKER_01]: So, however, where you're going with it, I get where you're going with it, and that's fine.
- 15:53[SPEAKER_01]: But you know, at the same token, this is a piece written to reflect back in the day, but at the same token, it's written by somebody who clearly is alive right now, and it's taking historical fact, and just,
- 16:08[SPEAKER_00]: giving it a little bit of a historical fact is my point.
- 16:11[SPEAKER_00]: Who cares my argument?
- 16:13[SPEAKER_01]: Who cares your if you care 18 years old today and you write that effort or the MF word, no, out of context because it's not, it's not the rest of the story.
- 16:24[SPEAKER_01]: But it has nothing to do with the actual show.
- 16:27[SPEAKER_00]: Then when does this have to guy wear an apple watch?
- 16:30[SPEAKER_01]: And, and say, well, we're just with because that would take away all credibility, however there are nip pickers like you, who like to get on there, who like to get on there, no profanity badwagon, Bill Cosby, and, you know, do whatever.
- 16:46[SPEAKER_01]: It takes absolutely nothing away from the overall experience of the show.
- 16:50[SPEAKER_01]: And all you really have to do is just tell them to do it.
- 16:53[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I'm not sure if you're, and I, you know, I'm repeating it to you.
- 16:56[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to, you're entitled to your opinion.
- 16:58[SPEAKER_00]: Probably I would say 60% of people who watch this series, I'm going to care.
- 17:03[SPEAKER_00]: But the 40 percent, those are the who are a-a-r-p-cons.
- 17:07[SPEAKER_00]: Well, maybe, but we're authentic.
- 17:10[SPEAKER_00]: We want authentic, if you're going to do a period piece, and you know, I told you many times, I love period pieces.
- 17:17[SPEAKER_00]: When they're done right, it's beautiful.
- 17:20[SPEAKER_00]: and and this one was done really really really really this one was probably one of the best done pieces for except for these series and you're entitled to your training I would have given it a nine and a half except see I will give it a nine and a half because I think it's that damn good that's because you're the longer you're standing up for the people who wrote it
- 17:37[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 17:38[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not.
- 17:39[SPEAKER_01]: I'm standing up for myself and how I felt about it.
- 17:41[SPEAKER_01]: So here's the thing number one I'm a Lincoln buff and have been since I was freaking seven years old.
- 17:47[SPEAKER_01]: So the first thing that I did I have the kunskip I have a kunskin cap and I have the old top hat as well too.
- 17:53[SPEAKER_01]: And if I wanted to grow the beard, I would.
- 17:55[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't know that about that.
- 17:56[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, well, and now you do.
- 17:57[SPEAKER_01]: So shut the fuck up, Lincoln was great.
- 18:00[SPEAKER_01]: No, Lincoln was, Lincoln was a great president.
- 18:02[SPEAKER_01]: And honestly, Mr. Garfield would have been just as a public year now, where he still alive today.
- 18:09[SPEAKER_01]: And let's not introduce much sooner.
- 18:11[SPEAKER_01]: I doubt it.
- 18:12[SPEAKER_01]: The design came all way before that.
- 18:14[SPEAKER_01]: But whatever, let's not talk about, let's not go on another tangent that we don't need to, okay?
- 18:19[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, fine, taking off the explatives because clearly we have a, you know, a squeaky cleaner over here, although I've heard some of your jokes.
- 18:26[SPEAKER_00]: So anyway, I don't have a problem with language where when it's where it should be.
- 18:31[SPEAKER_00]: And all it did was just give extra flavor to it.
- 18:34[SPEAKER_01]: It just gave the game extra attitude.
- 18:36[SPEAKER_01]: And it wouldn't have been as impactful to today's audience had they use something like, oh, well, you know, good.
- 18:47[SPEAKER_01]: Dog rapin blah blah blah blah blah it wouldn't know it would it would have been way too many were an accurate oh wow so what would have been accurate uh you want authentic you see you want authentic you're not gonna have Samuel Jackson you want shaft talking like uh Benjamin Franklin
- 19:05[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, but now you're comparing like centuries old stuff to like within the last two decades one doesn't you can't put today's language It would you give me a news please yesterday's language is we just need to hang this all on the way
- 19:21[SPEAKER_01]: Regardless, I still stand by my nine point five.
- 19:24[SPEAKER_01]: It's a great.
- 19:25[SPEAKER_01]: It's a great show.
- 19:27[SPEAKER_01]: The funny thing was is that I was sitting, I was a casual observer because I was it was it was on in my house and I didn't even know about it.
- 19:35[SPEAKER_01]: And I got sucked in like halfway through and I was like damn it, I don't need to get sucked in another one of these period pieces.
- 19:41[SPEAKER_01]: Especially when I'm off tampons.
- 19:42[SPEAKER_01]: But anyway, the point what?
- 19:44[SPEAKER_01]: Huh?
- 19:46[SPEAKER_01]: period piece.
- 19:48[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, they're not funny when you have to explain them anyway.
- 19:52[SPEAKER_01]: So the point is that this is great TV and I really hope that this wins and I mean because it's that damn good.
- 20:01[SPEAKER_00]: I agree.
- 20:01[SPEAKER_01]: And if you haven't seen it, you do yourself a favor and see it.
- 20:04[SPEAKER_01]: I think the Emmys are the end of September.
- 20:06[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 20:07[SPEAKER_01]: Like I think September 23rd if I remember correctly.
- 20:10[SPEAKER_01]: But go see it.
- 20:10[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's got a great cast, a Matthew McFad and Michael
- 20:15[SPEAKER_01]: If you're a Superman fan, you know him as Zod, from a couple of Superman movies, like you said, Nick Offerman's in it, Bradley Whitford's in it.
- 20:25[SPEAKER_01]: It's such a great cast.
- 20:28[SPEAKER_01]: I can't say enough about it.
- 20:29[SPEAKER_01]: Ben Miles is in it as well too, Laura Marcus, and you know, it's one of those
- 20:36[SPEAKER_01]: It's one of those pieces that came out as I will agree with on this.
- 20:40[SPEAKER_01]: It came out at a very pivotal moment in society, as far as things that are going on right now.
- 20:45[SPEAKER_01]: But, and I unfortunately think, this is the only thing I'm gonna say about it.
- 20:50[SPEAKER_01]: Unfortunately, I don't think it's gonna make the impact that it needs to make with today's society about how we should be standing up for the things that are right versus the things that are wrong.
- 21:00[SPEAKER_01]: And unfortunately, I mean, you know,
- 21:03[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's I think that's one of the things that's going to get lost on this this whole the whole thing I get in a lot of promotion either
- 21:11[SPEAKER_01]: I disagree, it's more word of mouth than anything else.
- 21:16[SPEAKER_00]: But that's word of mouth.
- 21:17[SPEAKER_00]: I don't see these people talking about it.
- 21:19[SPEAKER_00]: I'm good morning America, the today show or any of these shows, where they should be because again, the parallels of what would happen there to what's happening today in terms of the corruption that was going on are so immense and it's so important to, you know, they got through that.
- 21:39[SPEAKER_01]: Thank God.
- 21:41[SPEAKER_01]: See, and I disagree with you.
- 21:42[SPEAKER_01]: I think now that it's got an Emmy nomination, I think now it's getting more of the press that it deserves granted.
- 21:47[SPEAKER_01]: This came out over a year ago, so it has been out for a while.
- 21:50[SPEAKER_01]: But, you know, just like I said with that other piece that Netflix came out with that I think is gonna be nominated for an Oscar.
- 21:56[SPEAKER_01]: Come next year.
- 21:57[SPEAKER_01]: That came out like literally like weeks after the Oscars were done and this same thing here came out weeks after the Emmys were done.
- 22:05[SPEAKER_01]: So it's just proof that it's just,
- 22:08[SPEAKER_00]: I hope I am because everybody listening tells them one other person at least or two other people go watch this for sure and then focus on the parallels to what we're trying to what kind of facing today and you'll see that this country is lifted through this before and on my hopes that they will live through it again.
- 22:24[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean and I'm just so I just said a quick search.
- 22:27[SPEAKER_01]: There are articles that are literally six hours old.
- 22:31[SPEAKER_01]: that have been published about the show already.
- 22:34[SPEAKER_01]: So it's still making a buzz.
- 22:36[SPEAKER_01]: You're right.
- 22:36[SPEAKER_01]: It didn't get the send-off in the beginning that it did, but I also think that at that time, if you think about what was going on in November of last year, I don't think it would have made it as much of an impact as it does now, right?
- 22:46[SPEAKER_00]: And the amazes of September 14, by the way.
- 22:48[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, five for get.
- 22:49[SPEAKER_01]: So there we go.
- 22:50[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, so what did you say eight and a half?
- 22:54[SPEAKER_01]: eight and a half for me eight and a half nine and a half for me definitely go see it not go see it definitely go see it yeah because you don't like people who cost when they're not supposed to cost but anyway I don't like uh not authentic take the time to watch it it is for episodes I think they're roughly about an hour long but they move quick I don't think I don't think there was a part in any of them where I felt like it was dragging
- 23:17[SPEAKER_01]: And I agree with you that cinematography, the acting's great, the script is great.
- 23:21[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously, you and I don't agree about some of the dialogue, which is perfectly fine.
- 23:25[SPEAKER_01]: There's nothing bad that I can say about this at all.
- 23:31[SPEAKER_01]: Great peace and something that definitely needs to be watched by a lot of people.
- 23:35[SPEAKER_01]: So death by lightning, it's on Netflix and it is nominated for an Emmy.
- 23:39[SPEAKER_01]: And those are the reviews that you got there.
- 23:42[SPEAKER_01]: Take them or leave them however you want to look at it, but that's the way it is.
- 23:47[SPEAKER_00]: But watch it, forget about what I said about the bad language.
- 23:50[SPEAKER_00]: That is a, that's a pet peeve in mind.
- 23:53[SPEAKER_00]: You need, everybody needs to watch this.
- 23:55[SPEAKER_00]: They really do.
- 23:56[SPEAKER_00]: It's four prime time Emmy Award nominations.
- 24:00[SPEAKER_00]: I'll tell you what they are real quick.
- 24:01[SPEAKER_00]: Cinematography, writing, writing, editing.
- 24:05[SPEAKER_00]: That's so beautiful.
- 24:10[SPEAKER_00]: And, and what's his name?
- 24:17[SPEAKER_00]: Well, that's it for recognizing both acting and creating for it.
- 24:20[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, recognizing it for acting, writing, cinematography, and editing.
- 24:25[SPEAKER_01]: That's good.
- 24:26[SPEAKER_01]: There you go.
- 24:27[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 24:27[SPEAKER_01]: So let's move on.
- 24:29[SPEAKER_01]: Favorite move on science fiction TV shows about time is your is your list ready?
- 24:34[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, you want to go first.
- 24:35[SPEAKER_00]: I won't first last time.
- 24:36[SPEAKER_01]: I will go first because I know you don't like going first because you like to piggyback off of me and interrupt me all the damn time anyway.
- 24:42[SPEAKER_00]: So you go first.
- 24:43[SPEAKER_01]: All right, so I'm going to go super nostalgic and this show got paned a lot But it was one of my favorite TV shows growing up as a kid.
- 24:51[SPEAKER_01]: It's still it's kind of hard to find Because it's not available in most places and honestly, it's a bad TV show I'm just gonna straight up and tell you that it's not great But I just loved it because it was it was so cool and it was Kind of it was AI ahead of its time and I'm talking about max headroom
- 25:11[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I remember Max had a way ahead of it, right?
- 25:15[SPEAKER_01]: Studying in all kinds of stuff.
- 25:16[SPEAKER_01]: Way ahead of it's time.
- 25:17[SPEAKER_01]: That was good.
- 25:18[SPEAKER_01]: It was a great show, but like a lot of people didn't like it, because they thought it was bad.
- 25:22[SPEAKER_00]: That's very long, right?
- 25:23[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I think it lasted two seasons.
- 25:25[SPEAKER_01]: No, it was two seasons at the most.
- 25:26[SPEAKER_01]: I think it had a great, a great cast.
- 25:30[SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, it's just really entertaining.
- 25:32[SPEAKER_01]: Well, the whole Max had room.
- 25:34[SPEAKER_00]: bit was way ahead of it.
- 25:36[SPEAKER_00]: See, there it is.
- 25:36[SPEAKER_00]: And what they were able to do with what they mentioned on mine.
- 25:40[SPEAKER_00]: Crazy.
- 25:41[SPEAKER_00]: What?
- 25:41[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 25:42[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 25:43[SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
- 25:44[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 25:45[SPEAKER_01]: Up next, the older version of battle star Galactica.
- 25:50[SPEAKER_01]: And that's a lot of people are going to look at me like, no, no, Lauren Green.
- 25:53[SPEAKER_00]: Huh?
- 25:53[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 25:54[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 25:55[SPEAKER_01]: The original with Lauren Green.
- 25:57[SPEAKER_01]: uh... why would you not know a long green was was like how many westerns at least a banana yeah at least a banana so of course you know who he is uh... you're surprised that i knew that aren't you anyway which is name in bannance i don't care uh... westerns are not my thing i did just aren't i'm sorry uh... and then uh... so i'm a nerd out here american uh... uh...
- 26:22[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, so on American like saying motherfucker and fuck that's so on American too.
- 26:25[SPEAKER_00]: No.
- 26:26[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, okay.
- 26:26[SPEAKER_00]: Unless you're doing it in the 1881.
- 26:28[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 26:29[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, moving on doctor who.
- 26:31[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 26:32[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to nerd out there and then start trek the next generation.
- 26:37[SPEAKER_00]: Not the original start trek because the one where there's a clean gun is first.
- 26:41[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'm going to say something bad about that too.
- 26:43[SPEAKER_00]: Motherfucker.
- 26:44[SPEAKER_00]: No, it's just run.
- 26:45[SPEAKER_01]: Why is it wrong you can't have a clean gun as a first officer and the start why not if they worked on peace and all kinds of other stuff Would you get off of your 70s TV show crap run exactly not authentic what I want it now You want to talk about something else.
- 26:59[SPEAKER_01]: It's not authentic in like real life and stuff like that get on that soapbox Now too.
- 27:03[SPEAKER_00]: I'm good.
- 27:03[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, all right.
- 27:04[SPEAKER_00]: You're saying that's it.
- 27:06[SPEAKER_01]: I'm done because I'm tired of beginning.
- 27:07[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, stranger things, and that's it
- 27:09[SPEAKER_01]: not because I'm tired of getting interrupted.
- 27:11[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I'm going to start track with the original.
- 27:13[SPEAKER_00]: Of course you are.
- 27:14[SPEAKER_00]: The cheesiest show in the place in the world.
- 27:15[SPEAKER_00]: And we're nearly in a prize on what they were attacking.
- 27:18[SPEAKER_00]: Uh-huh.
- 27:18[SPEAKER_00]: And uh, we'll even show.
- 27:19[SPEAKER_01]: However, oh, I know why you like it because I know why you like it.
- 27:22[SPEAKER_01]: Because one of, because one of the clingsons was actually of Latino descent.
- 27:26[SPEAKER_00]: That's why they probably are where we'd never know for sure.
- 27:29[SPEAKER_00]: Well, but there's a lot of Latinos in Star Trek.
- 27:31[SPEAKER_00]: So we know we're not going to be right there.
- 27:32[SPEAKER_00]: That's not true.
- 27:33[SPEAKER_01]: Who?
- 27:34[SPEAKER_01]: Who played Con?
- 27:36[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, he wasn't a cling-on, was he?
- 27:38[SPEAKER_00]: He was a, well, it wasn't a cling-on.
- 27:41[SPEAKER_01]: I thought he was, but maybe he wasn't.
- 27:43[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, he was Con, but that was not in the TV show.
- 27:46[SPEAKER_00]: He was a movie.
- 27:47[SPEAKER_00]: We're at the Con.
- 27:48[SPEAKER_00]: OK, but who played him?
- 27:49[SPEAKER_00]: What he was a bad guy to begin with?
- 27:51[SPEAKER_01]: Well, Con's always been a bad guy in the start.
- 27:53[SPEAKER_00]: I understand.
- 27:54[SPEAKER_00]: That's him saying, the only Latino ever in the Star Trek was a bad guy.
- 27:59[SPEAKER_00]: And again, William Shattner, only Captain Kirk, ever.
- 28:04[SPEAKER_00]: He kissed a green alien lady who never done that.
- 28:08[SPEAKER_01]: Oh my god, you have never watched any of the newer episodes.
- 28:11[SPEAKER_00]: Outer limits.
- 28:11[SPEAKER_00]: Blue alien.
- 28:12[SPEAKER_00]: Outer limits.
- 28:13[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I do remember each show and I'll bring it forward a little bit.
- 28:16[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, really?
- 28:17[SPEAKER_01]: Because I thought you were going to go.
- 28:18[SPEAKER_01]: I thought you were going to go.
- 28:19[SPEAKER_01]: We're entering a dimension of sight and sound.
- 28:22[SPEAKER_00]: Twilight Zone.
- 28:22[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 28:23[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I don't see that as sci-fi is more.
- 28:25[SPEAKER_00]: I see that as more of a. I've never seen that as sci-fi really.
- 28:29[SPEAKER_00]: I've always seen it as more of a mirror into the human condition.
- 28:34[SPEAKER_00]: Because more of those stories were about the human condition than they were.
- 28:38[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, there weren't a lot of monsters, there's definitely like, like, in outer limits and, and, and Sergeant, and then my final one is, uh, X files.
- 28:47[SPEAKER_00]: X files.
- 28:47[SPEAKER_00]: Love this show.
- 28:48[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 28:49[SPEAKER_00]: So, nothing from today.
- 28:51[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know that.
- 28:52[SPEAKER_00]: I don't, I may have seen any really good sci-fi today, but, um, flash, arrow.
- 28:59[SPEAKER_00]: I don't consider the flash sci-fi, it's, it's, it's comic book hero, it's science fiction.
- 29:05[SPEAKER_00]: It's all about him, it's speeding past the end of the sound barrier.
- 29:10[SPEAKER_01]: But it's not science fiction.
- 29:12[SPEAKER_00]: There is science fiction.
- 29:13[SPEAKER_00]: And it's fiction at sci-fi to me.
- 29:16[SPEAKER_00]: That's me.
- 29:17[SPEAKER_00]: Here we go.
- 29:18[SPEAKER_00]: That's just me.
- 29:19[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 29:19[SPEAKER_00]: We know we we all know it's just you.
- 29:23[SPEAKER_00]: So here's why I say that Twilight Jonah's is not on my list because I don't see this sci-fi the one of the best episodes on that show ever was about a guy who
- 29:36[SPEAKER_00]: worked on the side of banning books this whole last minute and a half is yours so you know as you you need it and burning books and and he gets his wish and he ends up being the last man on earth and he's he's elated he lives alone and it's whole thing is he loves reading books even though he was on the side of banning books and burning books and he goes to the only standing library with
- 30:06[SPEAKER_00]: and as he walks in he trips and he shatters his glasses and he can't read and I'm thinking that's twilight zone, a lot of those were like that.
- 30:22[SPEAKER_00]: They were a lot of that looking mirrors looking back on.
- 30:25[SPEAKER_00]: And people like his whole thing was to get banned and burn books and then he wanted to read them and when he had the opportunity to, he couldn't because he destroyed the one thing that he would need to do it.
- 30:37[SPEAKER_01]: and altered realities are all about science fiction.
- 30:41[SPEAKER_00]: So, anyway, not all.
- 30:42[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, that's good.
- 30:43[SPEAKER_00]: 39 seconds left according to the big clock on the wall.
- 30:45[SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
- 30:46[SPEAKER_00]: I'll give you the last 35.
- 30:47[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, the last 35.
- 30:49[SPEAKER_01]: I see how it is.
- 30:50[SPEAKER_01]: Did you didn't give me the last 35?
- 30:51[SPEAKER_01]: You gave me the last 33, but that's okay.
- 30:53[SPEAKER_01]: That's the episode folks.
- 30:55[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you again.
- 30:57[SPEAKER_00]: Oh my god, now I'm going to call you as little bend.
- 31:00[SPEAKER_01]: Little bend.
- 31:01[SPEAKER_01]: That's going to do it for the episode.
- 31:02[SPEAKER_01]: Folks, thank you again so much for listening and supporting and everything you do.
- 31:05[SPEAKER_01]: Big shout out to BeBear Auto for the wonderful work that you and of course as always more episodes to come and until then, save us some popcorn, cheesy popcorn.
