- 1:55patresecrimble and first of all, you guys, this is our one hundred show.
- 2:02I am so honored to be one hundred, one hundred. Oh my
- 2:06god, me and my podcast sisters and brothers. We've been doing this since
- 2:09I want to stay February and we are already on show one hundred. So
- 2:15tonight is that special Tuesday night when you guys get the meat one of the
- 2:20hopes. So tonight we called her a little bit. We call her a
- 2:23little mini powerhouse. I think she said she's about four foot five maybe five
- 2:30foot, but it is our little bit powerhouse, mister Trevita, and she
- 2:37is the founder of Wings of Transformation. So come on up, girl,
- 2:43Come on up, hey, y'all. I'm gonna tell you right now,
- 2:50we're gonna be giggling all night because all we do is giggle and laugh.
- 2:53That's all we do. But first we gotta be nice, and we're gonna
- 2:57sink we already know you. But just go ahead and the new people who
- 3:02don't know you sitting up here looking like glamor queen, I don't know,
- 3:07look up, she got me looking bad on the shore. Listen, okay,
- 3:12look here. Let me go ahead and tell you I didn't put on
- 3:15any makeup. I just put on a little lip gloss right here. That's
- 3:17it, because I don't know nothing about none of this other stuff. That's
- 3:22it. That's all I got. And then I went in the closet and
- 3:25I was like, let me put this little shawl on, and you know,
- 3:28because I had on my work scrubb shirt, so you know, I
- 3:31was like, I don't want to be in a scrub tip, you know,
- 3:35so let me just you know, throw the song. Be a little
- 3:38presentable. We'll see around here, we're getting ready for the first day of
- 3:40school. So I'm gonna fix my shirt. I had to show them,
- 3:44See, I had to show them cause that makes sense. That makes sense
- 3:50first day. Ya see I listen. I don't envy you with this right
- 3:54now. I don't time to you used to be my friend, see that.
- 4:00I mean, I love you and I'll help with it, but I
- 4:06don't miss it. I don't miss it. Yeah. My baby just turned
- 4:12twenty one last Friday birthday. Yeah, my baby he turned twenty one,
- 4:19and so my gentle giant, so you know. But I'll introduce myself to
- 4:26those who don't know me. And I am Trevida Harris, and I am
- 4:30the host of Believing the Journey podcast, where basically we talk about the journey
- 4:35of life. There's so many different obstacles that we face to get us to
- 4:40the current position that we're in. And I want people to talk to me
- 4:44about that particular journey because I know for me, I've been through some stuff
- 4:50and to get to where I am, there were days I'm like, Lord,
- 4:55look here, I don't I don't know whether you're trying to take me.
- 4:58Yeah, but look here, can we take a detour for a rest
- 5:02break? I ain't got no more energy to go to tomorrow right now,
- 5:09so can we can we just take a break right here, just for a
- 5:13minute. I need to put this weight on my shoulders down for just sick?
- 5:15Can we do that? You know? Can you get the second linement
- 5:19up? Because you know I you know also as we need a break for
- 5:24a second. Listen, that's what it is. You know. He gives
- 5:28us that little break and he's like, all right, get a breathe out
- 5:30here, let's go back, like I've got something else for you to do.
- 5:34But I join them back and tell him come back in and do this
- 5:38real. Wait sir, wait a minute, we didn't discuss this. Wait
- 5:43minutes. Can can we talk just a little bit? Okay, but you
- 5:47know, he like, I I got something for you to do. Come
- 5:50out, come out. But you know you can't say much because you see
- 5:55that blessing. Yeah, you're sitting right then you're like, all right,
- 5:59okay, come on, come on, Jesus, just put it, come
- 6:01on, we can keep on going now, Jesus, I won't go this
- 6:03way. This way it looks easy, but you want me to go this
- 6:05way? Yeah? Prayed for it, and you're like, okay, well,
- 6:12I the prayer that I prayed didn't have all these detours and was in
- 6:16it. Mom was just a straight shot. Like why we got to go
- 6:23like sir, like we're going down in the valley, and then we got
- 6:26to go up the hill, and then we got to go back down in
- 6:29the valley, and then we gotta take two lefts and three rights, like
- 6:32sir, sir, My my destination right around right right over there, oh,
- 6:39like we like to see in Chawston. Why I gotta go behind God
- 6:41back this to meet Jesus. You know what I'm saying. Why I gotta
- 6:46go behind you? Yeah, Okay, we're gonna be good, y'all.
- 6:49We're gonna be good. We're gonna be good. So my sister here,
- 6:55I've had so many people come in my inbox and ask me do you have
- 6:59off the services? Are you a proof reader? Can you help me put
- 7:03a book? And the first poet I tell him is I'm really not an
- 7:08author, but I was told to not say that because I did co author
- 7:13with some other people our last book, which we're gonna get our produced and
- 7:17put some information about that books. Y'all can go ahead and get a copy
- 7:20and still niggas three thirty three or nine ninety nine, y'all, let's no,
- 7:25go ahead and get your copy. But so tell us what type of
- 7:28services that you provide. Okay, well, the services that I provided Wings
- 7:33of Transformation Publishing is basically, I do the proof reading, I do the
- 7:38book editing, I do the formatting. I do the developmental formatting for the
- 7:46book I do. I'll listen. I do so much with it. I
- 7:51put the book together for you. If you don't quite know how you need
- 7:57to put it together, I help what outlines you know. I give a
- 8:00consultation on what it is. Even if you come to me and you just
- 8:03have an idea of a book that you want to do and we go from
- 8:07there. Like my client that I just worked with, she came to me
- 8:13in January and she wanted to do a book about foster parents and it's called
- 8:18You're Just a Foster Parent, Untold Stories of foster parents and their experiences.
- 8:26And she is now number one, number five on the Bestseller's list of new
- 8:30releases. So that is an amazing project and she wants to do another one
- 8:37soon. So you know, I'm grateful for the opportunity to bless her and
- 8:43her co authors that did this anthology book because it was something that you know,
- 8:50I've done for myself and been part of many other anthology books, but
- 8:54never one for someone else, even in the midst of things that I was
- 8:58going on in my personal life. It was a challenge for me. But
- 9:01you know, when she came to me, I said, this is a
- 9:03book that must be done because of the stories that I knew we're gonna come
- 9:09with that. And all I can say is, I'm proud of them.
- 9:13I'm proud of myself for helping her vision come to life. But that's what
- 9:20I do. That is what I do at Wings of Transformation Publishing. So
- 9:24they can contact me at Wings of Transformation Publishing atwritemee dot com and we can
- 9:30get started anytime. All right, then you go, you know, y'all
- 9:35are I can't too many inboxes? And to the point that I even went
- 9:41into our group chat you guys, I'm like, okay, so who does
- 9:43this? Does that? And I remember I was like, oh, you
- 9:48could get this person, and I was like, okay, I would pass
- 9:50the information on. But I do also and I do logos too, so
- 9:56you know you need that. I got yes, because she does all her
- 10:01fliers, y'all, She's she How do you say it's a jack of all
- 10:05trades. We may say saying I try try. So we're on this journey
- 10:13of being a part of the Crew podcast, and I'll signature mind is we
- 10:18are the change we want to see in this world? Yea? What does
- 10:22that mean to you? What that means to me is if you don't accept
- 10:30the change within yourself, you can't expect those around you to change, which
- 10:35means you also have to show up in order for the change to take place.
- 10:39And you get two choices every day. You get a choice and a
- 10:43chance. So what are you gonna do with either one of those? If
- 10:46you're not willing to get up to make a change, then you forfeited your
- 10:50choice, you know. So that's what it means to me. That is
- 10:54true because you guys, we all have our everyday lives, We have our
- 11:00families, and like we were just all chatting, like I'm in the process
- 11:05of getting my little girl ready, but she already knows seven fifteen, seven
- 11:09thirty on one Tuesday night and every other Saturday, all right, I see
- 11:13you in a minute, mommy, and she'll come to the door and peek
- 11:16through like you finish it. I was like, so we have to show
- 11:24up for ourselves and me being on this journey and having you and Angela and
- 11:30LaToya and Alma and Lisa and Tamela and and and Heather guy, all of
- 11:37us. It's it's an opportunity to you're showing up for yourself, but you're
- 11:46doing it as a family, and you have all these people behind you exactly,
- 11:50you know. So since we want to talk about family and all these
- 11:56people behind us, yeah, you don't know, we're gonna talk about it,
- 12:00but we're gonna take a break and we're gonna talk about our new left
- 12:03heavy voice and sing and chills and tables and crossing it up. But we'll
- 12:13be back. You guys join us, Come on back, tuch. They
- 12:18got to go to the front with one with a little touch of late front
- 12:30Lady spir lay spy. All right, so y'all we back. So we're
- 12:48gonna get a little off subject and we're gonna talk about which just happened?
- 12:52Was that Saturday? Saturday? Yeah? Yeah? Yeah, Saturday Saturday?
- 12:58So you guys, I woke up like one. I have a tendency to
- 13:05go to sleep late. Now go to sleep early and wake up like early
- 13:09in the morning. Why did I spend three hours on TikTok last night laughing
- 13:15my butt off and all the means and stuff that they have. There's so
- 13:20many like oh my gosh, so so many, Like I haven't been on
- 13:28TikTok. I haven't been there. But it's just this morning, as I
- 13:35was getting ready for work, I had to put my phone down because I
- 13:37was like, okay, y'all going too far. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 13:41We can't ever really be serious at all us. We just don't we
- 13:50know how to make a joke in the most serious situations. And I'm just
- 13:54like, okay, you know what, we don't invented a whole new signal.
- 13:58Well, now like it's out there, you thought you toss that hat,
- 14:01we come in, so you guys, I'm sorry, Okay, it's
- 14:09okay. I'm trying to be serious you guys, but I'm keeping hearing all
- 14:13the means in my head. But I heard on the news before we got
- 14:16on that they do not want to charge it as a hate crime. Why
- 14:22because they said it did not meet all of the statues for hate crime.
- 14:28Okay, well what would that be? That's what my question would have been,
- 14:33Like, what would have been? Okay, So we normally talk about
- 14:39journeys and we talk about books, so we're gonna bring this into the journeys
- 14:43and the books. What would a title of a book be for this situation
- 14:50that that just happened? Mmmm? I would say she isn't. Another question,
- 15:11who would be the author of the book. I can't say who the
- 15:18author would be, but I would definitely love the narrator to be Samuel L.
- 15:24Jackson for this particular Oh wow, because it just it has to be
- 15:33him. Because but what I would say, the title of this book would
- 15:39have to be you start, I finish. M hmmm mm hmm. Yes,
- 15:50I can see that. H I start, I finish. I can
- 15:54see that. I even had a Patriot come to the library, y'all and
- 15:58how I got this question? And he said the answer, the title of
- 16:04the book will be who let the Dogs Out? I said, why would
- 16:08you say that about? Because all he did was stores head up in the
- 16:11air and all his homeboys and his dogs came off from everywhere. And I
- 16:15was like, oh wow, Yeah, So I'm telling you it says how
- 16:22not to get smacked with a fold. That's a nice one. So what
- 16:32is your thoughts on this situation? My thoughts on this situation. It's a
- 16:38sad, awkward situation. I'm man swim in and all I'm saying, you
- 16:47guys who putting up I would just putting up the titles that people say,
- 16:52and we just got awkwaway, swim in and all. It's sad that were
- 17:00still dealing with this type of thing in this day and time. It's twenty
- 17:03twenty three. And it was a simple request, move your boat so that
- 17:10this boat can got so that the people that are on it can get off,
- 17:12and people knew people can get on. It's a simple request. It
- 17:17did not have to escalate to that. However, if they had been drinking,
- 17:22that was the whole thing. If they were in their right state of
- 17:26mind, that may not have happened. But their emotions took over a situation
- 17:30that led them to attack an innocent person for doing their job. And that's
- 17:34all the balls down to. They he was doing his job, they didn't
- 17:38like what he said, and regardless, have to go that far, but
- 17:49they asked for it, so a look, instant karma was given. You
- 17:56you knocked on the door and it was answered. I mean, did you
- 18:00really think that they were? I mean, were they really thinking that we
- 18:03can beat up this guy? And really and nobody's gonna do anything because this
- 18:10is what we're accustomed to doing. Yeah, there's no consequence to us for
- 18:15doing what we've been doing our whole lives. And so I can slap you
- 18:19if I want to, and there's no one that's gonna do anything. Even
- 18:22your family is not going to come and defend you. However, that this
- 18:29same nineteen twelve, this same nineteen forty five, this ain't that. So
- 18:34with this not being that, they got an answer that they wasn't expected.
- 18:40So yeah, they were campaigning for you know what, and they got it.
- 18:45They got elected real quick. And that's by a landslide. Oh okay,
- 18:52I'm landsflide die. I mean, did you really think that this was
- 18:57not gonna go that way? Everybody? I mean, come on now,
- 19:03No, we do not condone the violence. No, I don't condone it
- 19:07at all. I'll ever met you sit up there and hitting me. Don't
- 19:11don't put your hands on me. There you go, don't put your hands
- 19:14on me. Don't get in my space because this is my space. And
- 19:18then you you putting your hands on me, I have a right to defend
- 19:22myself. And that's basically what he did. And that's exactly what he did.
- 19:26And so his cousins because a lot of those were cool workers. Yes,
- 19:30we had it. And then they took their shirts off, which I
- 19:33happened. That was very smart shirt to see the company and at But I
- 19:37thought about it today when I sat up there and I look at my nephews
- 19:41and my daughter. You hit one of them. Somebody coming back and tell
- 19:47him now I've been hit each other. They go tell it's like somebody else.
- 19:52Oh that they all coming together. So it shook the jar. The
- 19:57jar was fine, yes, but they shop the I see her coming in
- 20:03and yeah, he hit it with the chair. I have some feelings on
- 20:11that. But I did see her hit a male. I don't even understand
- 20:18where the chair came from. Like that That's where I come from. That's
- 20:22that's where I'm still lost. Like I don't watch it a few times and
- 20:26I still can't figure out where the chair came from the only thing I could
- 20:32think of is the chair came off the boat. So that means I had
- 20:36the chair. It had to come out the window or something off the boat.
- 20:41So okay, because I know it wasn't. It wasn't sitting along the
- 20:47pier. It was not there. There were no chairs there, so bless
- 20:52them all because lord ha mercy. Okay, okay, they trying to find
- 20:57the man that had the check. Find him. Sorry, I say,
- 21:04you need to get the little family, lock all them up and leave very
- 21:10black. It was just common that they got it exactly that instant campaigning and
- 21:17they got elected real quickly. You know, they didn't have to do a
- 21:22lot of campaigning thing. They didn't have to go out asking for solicitations or
- 21:26nothing. They got right there and then they were on our landslide and we
- 21:30wasn't even know up for debate or nothing like that. They got what they
- 21:34asked for. So now the new church chair, I've seen ear rings you
- 21:41guys with ear rings of the white church chair in your rings, like we
- 21:49were capitalizes and what we can. But now I want to know when we
- 21:56come to pta meetings like this, now, we still ain't gonna show up
- 22:02like that for that. Are we gonna vote like this? Nah? We
- 22:03ain't gonna do that. So how do we keep this momentum of us coming
- 22:10together into the future. The way that I feel that we should be able
- 22:18to keep this momentum going is to stop focusing so much on the negative and
- 22:25bringing that into the forefront front we got so much more positive stuff that we
- 22:30can actually extend and expand on, but we'd rather exploit all of this foolishness,
- 22:38Like you got so much in front of you that you can feed and
- 22:44fill up off of that is positive, but you rather indulge over indulge in
- 22:52this foolishness like I don't understand, Like I just do not understand. Like
- 22:57it's good for a few good little chuckles. Let's go and get that in
- 23:00there. Get the chuckles in, but show up for your kids. Show
- 23:04up. Don't be getting all out beside yourself because somebody is trying to give
- 23:10your child some direction. Don't be offended when someone is trying to give your
- 23:15child that direction that they need that they're not getting at home. Like I
- 23:21ain't never been that parent to be like A, don't you say nothing to
- 23:25my child. I told the principal to my son that if he show out,
- 23:30gon knock him out. Call me when you do it. I'll come
- 23:33up in and add the extra licks to it. And she was like,
- 23:36I can't do that. I said, why not. I gave you permission
- 23:38to do it. My son's standing right here. He hurt me, he
- 23:41said, Mama, you're gonna let her hit me if you were here showing
- 23:45your behind. Yes I am, I said, So that goes to show.
- 23:48Don't show out if I ain't here, because she got permission to whoop
- 23:52your behind, I said. In anyway, you get home, you know
- 23:55you're gonna get it again, cause I'm not that parent. I don't you
- 23:57see my kid doing something he ain't got no business done. Whoop his tail,
- 24:00Call me and let me know you did it, so I can get
- 24:03him. Want to get home, So do all of that. So then
- 24:07you go, where where's the village, Yeah, where's the village? Showed
- 24:11up Saturday? Now the grandmother's has and everybody showing up at the boat.
- 24:18But now we need to show up at these kids school exactly. And that's
- 24:23one thing I have to admit with me and my sisters and my nephews and
- 24:30my daughter, we show up for these kids. It is not one,
- 24:34it's the other. And even when we have to meet the teachers one one
- 24:41sister can't make it. Oh, they catch it. So it's like when
- 24:47they go to school, it's like the shining boys and the girl m it's
- 24:53how they know the shining boys. And so it's it's that I would love
- 25:02to see us bring that village back. I would love to see us bring
- 25:06that village to the forefront. Because this coming, this past Sunday, I
- 25:11went to my nephew's football team. They'd man been glad. I loved him
- 25:15cause Jesus Christ, the heat, the heat. If y'all think I'm playing,
- 25:19go check my Facebook page I made. I took a picture of the
- 25:22before when I went out there, and the puture after that's told him a
- 25:26better one. The Auntie of the Year award. My bun ahead in the
- 25:32middle of the game, m these two teams started fighting like you had kids.
- 25:37I want to say it was the twelve year olds. You no,
- 25:41it was a twelve year old. Because my nephew's team in the Ario,
- 25:45kids running up on grown men. I never get hurt of the grown man,
- 25:49say let him, let him go, let him go. But then
- 25:53you had parents, don't touch my child, don't touch my child, but
- 25:57your child running up for a grown man. Yep. So the same way
- 26:03we get the laughs and the jokes, and we used to yay to mister
- 26:07Alan Alan I think his name is from swimming across that. It's the same
- 26:11way we need all need to get together for these kids on the first day
- 26:15school, the same way we all need to show up for these poets,
- 26:18the same way we need to sit up here and take time out with homework,
- 26:21take time out with reading, take time out and talk to our young
- 26:23adults about finances, talk to him about dating, talk to him about mental
- 26:29health. So yes, like we have the capabilities of continuing to be the
- 26:36village. So this incident showed us that we can be the village that we
- 26:42talk about. However, you can't be so quick to be offended when someone
- 26:47comes to your defense to help you with their child. Don't wait today thirteen
- 26:52sixteen, and you can't even say nothing to him. It's too late now
- 26:56because when I was trying to talk to you when he was seven, you
- 27:00want me to say nothing or touchet. Now he's seventeen, you can't do
- 27:03nothing with him. I'll tell you the story. I had three little boys
- 27:11that lived across the street from me where I used to live. And when
- 27:15I first met them, like, I met the boys before I met the
- 27:18parents, and they were always at my house. Then I finally met the
- 27:22dad. The dad came over and introduced hisself to me. He said,
- 27:26is it a problem that my boys are at your house all the time?
- 27:27I said, well, let me ask you a question. I said,
- 27:30is it a problem if your your boys come home with a not outside they
- 27:34had or busted lip? He said no, I said, then we found
- 27:38I said, because I don't tolerate disrespectful children in my house. I said,
- 27:42be cause they gonna get treated just like mine. I said, So
- 27:45if you don't have no problems with that, then I don't have no problems
- 27:47with your kids being in my house. I said, because that's just how
- 27:51I roll over here. So let me tell you that that's just how it
- 27:56goes in my house. Like the kids would be there, they be in
- 28:00the living room cracking on each other, and I hear them cracking, but
- 28:03then they use words that do not go with the crack that they're trying to
- 28:07crack. And I'm like, you got to use that word in the sentence,
- 28:11and you're gonna have to spell it for me, Miss Harris, Mama,
- 28:14Ta, we don't even won't do all that. I don't really care
- 28:17if you're gonna be using words that you're gonna crack on somebody, baby,
- 28:19it's got to make sense. In this house. So you're gonna use that
- 28:22words, You're gonna give me a sentence with it, and you're gonna spell
- 28:26it right, because this is how we gonna roll over here. This ain't
- 28:29no optional thing. This is what we're doing. So my nephews, so
- 28:36this is how it go in my house. Like I'm checking everybody's kids.
- 28:40I had like one of the boys he was playing, like he went out
- 28:45for his senior year. He was playing football. So he comes over and
- 28:48he tells me like all summer he's going up to the practices and everything,
- 28:52and I think like after the fourth game, he was like, well,
- 28:56miss Harris, I quit the football team. I said, okay, you
- 29:00quit the football team. Did you tell your coach? He said no,
- 29:03I didn't tell my coach. I said, well, did you tell your
- 29:06aunty that you quick? He said no. I said, okay, Well,
- 29:10this is the problem that I have with that, and this is how
- 29:11you finn to rectify that situation. I said, because your aunt sacrifice her
- 29:15time and her gas to get you there every morning. I said, And
- 29:19therefore you gonna go down to the school tomorrow and you're gonna tell your coaches
- 29:25that you quick. I said, and also, you gonna go outside and
- 29:29you're gonna apologize to your aunty and your mama and your daddy for wasting their
- 29:33time. I said, so if you don't call, if you don't go
- 29:37down to the coach's office, I will call to make sure that you have
- 29:41done that. Mama t why I gotta do all of that, I said,
- 29:45because you're about to enter into adulthood. These are consequences for the decisions
- 29:51that you make. So if you want to be an adult, guess what
- 29:53you're about to make an adult decision and an adult problem right now. I
- 29:57said, So, we're gonna go start by talking to your mom. She
- 30:00outside right now. Let's go talk to so his mom was outside. I
- 30:04said, hey, your son need to tell you something, Miss Harris.
- 30:10I really gotta boy, you better get to talk. And I said,
- 30:14be cause if I gotta talk for you, it's gonna be your problem.
- 30:15So you better go ahead and started explaining what you need to explain. I
- 30:19said, because you was bold to come over here and tell me what you
- 30:22what you just told, I said, go, I don't go. Don't
- 30:25start talking. He didn't quit. He didn't quit, all right, y'all?
- 30:30I told you she was a prouder. You told you were like four
