- 0:02Hi listeners. Welcome to the.

- 0:09God's stories. I'm your host.
- 0:12Jamie Elizabeth and I am so glad you are spending time with us
- 0:16today to listen. Hey friend.
- 0:21Welcome, I'm so glad you chose to listen to today's episode.
- 0:25The story. I believe most of us can relate
- 0:29to and that sometimes in life, we are living out, our purpose
- 0:35and calling and then God intervenes to take us in a whole
- 0:40new Direction. I'm here with inspirational
- 0:44speaker, Beatrice Garrett. Hi Jamie.
- 0:47Thank you for inviting me and hi to your listen.
- 0:50So cool, how you reached out to me and talked about how you had
- 0:56this affluent, you know, job here as an attorney and then you
- 1:00thought you're living out your calling and your purpose.
- 1:05And I think so many of us can relate in where we're at in life
- 1:10and then all of a sudden, you know, God comes in and says,
- 1:14okay this is the New Path. I want you to go on and you just
- 1:18think, wow. In a minute I thought this was
- 1:21like you know gonna be my thing for years to come here.
- 1:25So I love that you showed some obedience in that and some
- 1:32surrender and I can't wait for you to share that encouragement
- 1:36with us. Well first off, I would like to
- 1:40tell you that the surrender and the be obedient with a journey.
- 1:45It will ya saying that I did not initially?
- 1:50Side. Okay.
- 1:50Lower. You want to change the direction
- 1:52and trajectory of my life. Okay, I'm down with the plan.
- 1:56It was great. It was a process.
- 1:58And yeah, when I started working at legal aid, I did not have any
- 2:07desire for litigation, so legal aid is one of the largest
- 2:12nonprofit law firms, that represents the marginalized, the
- 2:15poor children. And so, I envision myself as an
- 2:20Need volunteering for organizations like that.
- 2:24Not my dream was to be a business transactional lawyer.
- 2:29I also have an MBA, so I was, I had a pet.
- 2:32I had a path that I have a vision for a, for my life.
- 2:36And so, once I pass the bar went to school, I live in Wisconsin
- 2:39and I went to school law school in Ohio, so when I came back to
- 2:45Wisconsin, move back to Wisconsin.
- 2:47I had to take the bar exam to practice law, so, After I passed
- 2:50the bar exam, I started looking for employment and so I thought
- 2:56well, volunteering is something that is just part of my DNA.
- 3:01I just think that it's a Civic text that iOS living on this
- 3:07planet and giving back is. So that's very important to me
- 3:10to volunteer. So I thought, well, I'm looking
- 3:12for a job, I'll volunteer at legal aid and I learned they'll
- 3:17give me the opportunity to learn Wisconsin law and then More
- 3:20importantly to help people. And so I was looking for a job
- 3:24and nothing started to happen is as soon as I like to sew an
- 3:29opportunity became available at legal aid, the executive
- 3:35director at the time asked me if I would accept this position, I
- 3:37said okay well I'll accept the part time as I still had to my
- 3:40house holding onto my my dream. I made this investment and I was
- 3:44going to I was determined to get a return on that investment.
- 3:48So I Accepted the position and I tell you working there really,
- 3:55it changed my life. I started off representing
- 3:57children. And when you representing
- 3:59children, where do you have a child or not?
- 4:02There is there's just this instant that comes into you that
- 4:05you want to protect them and so that gave me a great opportunity
- 4:10to protect children. And also when I had an
- 4:14opportunity to talk to the to the parents of these children,
- 4:18when they attorney grant me permission, To talk to them.
- 4:21And sometimes I also had an opportunity to encourage them as
- 4:24well, you know, so that you know, just by, you know, helping
- 4:28them to just not wait on someone to do something for them all the
- 4:31time. Just how trying to give them a
- 4:33little bit more, Aspire them to be, take a little bit more
- 4:37initiative that just don't wait for someone to do something for
- 4:40you. And so I just, you know, every
- 4:42moment that God gave me an opportunity to inspire someone
- 4:46that I would do. So, and so there was one story
- 4:49like this. Share with your your listeners.
- 4:52That I was just really one that really just moved my heart.
- 4:56I was assigned the guardianship case and the my client at the
- 5:00time was 17 years old and so his his mother was incarcerated in
- 5:06her friend filed for petition of her of her evaluation of her son
- 5:11and what I like to do in my when I interview my clients are 12
- 5:16with love, I always ask them to questions.
- 5:18I asked him about school and I What I also asking about their
- 5:22dreams and my client told me, he said, well, I'm not in school
- 5:26and I said, oh, I was like, oh, you know, I'm not judgmental
- 5:30said, well, you know, if you were my house, she could, you
- 5:32could live in my house and you did go to school.
- 5:34So I just explained to him the importance of an education and
- 5:38and he also liked to and talking with my learned that he likes to
- 5:41skateboard. And so as rated analogy of maybe
- 5:45one day being a business owner and why it was important for him
- 5:48to have Reasoning skills, being able to ask stop for questions.
- 5:53So, you know, as most typical teenagers he was just there.
- 5:55Listening, no response, no reaction to what I am.
- 5:58Well, that's not it. I'll just take a second
- 6:06appointment. I need to meet with both the
- 6:08petitioner so I met with my client first again, no no
- 6:12response as to what our conversation.
- 6:16Well, Willie was in the conversation.
- 6:17I was just talking, he was listening.
- 6:19So No response. And then when I met with the
- 6:22petitioner, the first question she asked me, she said, did he
- 6:25tell you? And I was at it, I was close.
- 6:27I didn't know what she was talking about.
- 6:30She said, I said no and she said he went to the high school on
- 6:35his own and register for school. Wow.
- 6:42You know what, I just fought God for just bit, you know, being
- 6:47there as long as I was with, he does.
- 6:50It gave me opportunities like that to just to just to go the
- 6:54extra mile and that's just part of my personality just to go the
- 6:57extra mile and I knew that it was important for him to know
- 7:00and understand the importance of getting an education.
- 7:03Now whether you did it or not was just up to him.
- 7:05But I just wanted to let him know how important it is for
- 7:09him. As he grows older being me, I
- 7:11know I had adults that I've met with it, could not read or
- 7:14write, and so, you know, it and and they've signed contracts
- 7:18having no idea what they say. I so that's why I was just
- 7:21explaining to him why it was so important for him to get an
- 7:25education and so so good. Because and it just shows like
- 7:30when we're talking to people, we sometimes, I mean, I've done
- 7:34this, where it's just kind of like, you don't think they're
- 7:37taking what you're saying, and really having it resignate,
- 7:41right? And their heart, and it just
- 7:43shows like, you never know what is going on in the inside.
- 7:48Only God knows. And when an encouragement, you
- 7:51were speaking life to this young man to go back and get a high
- 7:57school education. And speaking through like
- 8:02experience, like you're sharing a story of people that you met
- 8:05that couldn't read or write and we're signing documents that
- 8:09they need even know they were signing and I'm sure that just
- 8:13you know, shook them a little bit.
- 8:14Like I don't want to be that where, I don't know.
- 8:18You know what? I'm Reading or, you know what
- 8:22I'm signing? So I love that.
- 8:25It wasn't just a, you know, a preaching thing but like, hey,
- 8:29this is the what I've encountered, and this is why
- 8:34it's important. So cool.
- 8:36So, you know, as my time there, I kept asking me, I kept asking
- 8:41God you know, you know, why won't you let me put you let me
- 8:45go who you know, I mean there were a couple of colleagues and
- 8:48I we were Two other colleagues that I work with.
- 8:52So we had accountability meetings, we are all looking for
- 8:55new opportunities and nothing happened.
- 8:59And I was really angry with God and so I decided that God was in
- 9:03control and I would just grow up where I was planted and just do
- 9:09good work. And the moment I decide to just
- 9:13allow God to be God and being controlled he made his move and
- 9:18it was so unexpected. I came into work early one
- 9:23morning before that, I was coming in, like, a little, like,
- 9:26mad. A class is really, you know,
- 9:27because I wasn't really like Dad step, two is Matt feeling it
- 9:31last time to move on and like I'm burned out.
- 9:36So, you know, higher. Yeah.
- 9:39You know, and, and so, so I decided, okay, I'll just change
- 9:43term turn to lead and I started, you know, so the day that I
- 9:46decide, okay, I'm turning newly, I came in early, the executive.
- 9:50Our like maybe 15, 20 minutes after I was in the office after.
- 9:53I've completed my morning cast. And so as the executive director
- 9:58came in and asked me to come into the chief staff attorney's
- 10:02office and outside. You know, when you know what you
- 10:05said, coming to the chief staff attorney's office and say well
- 10:07you know, like if the thoughts that were racing through my
- 10:09mind. Right.
- 10:10What could I possibly do? You know, what did I do?
- 10:12I have possibly done and I'm thinking did I make someone
- 10:16magic Cloud? Complain against me?
- 10:17Don't miss a case and you know, they call these I was racing
- 10:20through my mind. And so, once I got into our
- 10:23office and I sat down, they told me that the brat supporting my
- 10:27position. Like most profits, they are
- 10:30really dependent on philanthropy grants and annual fundraising
- 10:35and so they told me, well, the grass is putting her your
- 10:38position. We no longer have funding.
- 10:40And so I was, you know, I wasn't so taken aback because they had
- 10:46previously talked about that for the program.
- 10:49I was a part of Of initiative. Or this is one book for Jesus.
- 10:53We're really, there were a lot of foreclosures and so there was
- 10:56an Initiative Program with a number of Partners within the
- 10:59city of where I live to help homeowners to retain their
- 11:02homes. And so, there was some talk that
- 11:04maybe possibly the funding would not be available, but there was
- 11:08some talk, but nothing that was really solid.
- 11:10And so when they told me I was had a little mixed feelings.
- 11:14I like, okay, well, there's you know, there's it's a big world
- 11:16for. There's new opportunities out
- 11:18there, but I was really mad with Because I had been looking for a
- 11:22job. Nothing came through, no
- 11:25interviews. Just maybe I get a
- 11:29acknowledgement that we save your application will let you
- 11:31know if I'm going to call you in for an interview but nothing
- 11:33really, that would give me some hope that we have.
- 11:36There's an opportunity that's just looming.
- 11:38Is that just can just pursue? And so, that's why I was so mad
- 11:42with God because I didn't have any direction.
- 11:45I didn't know, I knew what I needed to do is fight as an
- 11:48attorney by for other languages. Jobs but I didn't know why God
- 11:54would just say okay you know here you know become unemployed
- 11:58and you know now I have your next opportunity.
- 12:01So I just then that was the journey that was when the
- 12:04journey I started looking at pi/4 legal jobs and I was also
- 12:09also looking for a job. So I live in Milwaukee
- 12:11Wisconsin. So I was really interested in
- 12:14Chicago and do some networking there.
- 12:16And I really like the city, I like the big city feel and I
- 12:20would just commute back and forth networking and just
- 12:24becoming involved in legal community and nothing happened.
- 12:29And every every opportunity that I would pursue guy was like, no,
- 12:33it's not it. So I started even looking for
- 12:35jobs jobs outside of Wang and I would, I really remember this.
- 12:41So clearly, I one morning in prayer.
- 12:44I was just bawling boo-hooing. The guy like why are you doing
- 12:49this? This to me, I thought I was a
- 12:51good person and blob. You know, when we, when we're
- 12:54going through and we, you know, we tell God, why you how we
- 12:57tried to please him. And what we've done, we just
- 12:59kind of a hobby for I'm like, why are you doing this to me?
- 13:03Hey, hey in there, we've all been there and so he said to me
- 13:13so clearly and so distinctly, he said I'm not moved by your
- 13:17tears. I am moved by my room.
- 13:20And so, that was the moment that I decided that I would have a
- 13:24standing appointment with God in the morning and in the evening.
- 13:28And I knew that my like, my I thought, I thought I could just
- 13:32just thinking back, like my relationship.
- 13:34I said with God was so superficial and so it was like I
- 13:38so I started to spend time with him, reading his word and
- 13:42prayer, to learn to hear his voice.
- 13:44And so, when I started to do that and I but I'm still going
- 13:49my My way trying to steal fit the wrong, the circle into the
- 13:54square and Freight. Yeah, it was, yeah, it was more
- 13:58when I was still hitting these robots and there was one
- 14:02opportunity that was really hopeful for I had an interview
- 14:06with with the foundation, they're looking for a lawyer and
- 14:09their philanthropic services. And so the interview went, well,
- 14:13they like me. I like them.
- 14:15And then they asked me for to submit a strategic plan that you
- 14:18know, where the SUV was the tragic plan.
- 14:19They know. That's serious that they I'm
- 14:21really interested and so I did that then I received an email
- 14:27from the human resource assistant and she said told me
- 14:31that the foundation hired agencies that help them with
- 14:36their strategic planning and advise them to freeze hiring.
- 14:42And so, I was so crushed. Yeah, crash and but this But we
- 14:50still maintain an interest in you and so I just continued
- 14:53looking for a job and and then I contacted them back, two months
- 14:58later and she said, no nothing's changed.
- 15:01And so I it was that moment where I said, God I like you.
- 15:05Yeah. I said I Surrender I just raise
- 15:07my hand up and surrender and said have your way and then
- 15:12that's where the journey began. And so I'm trying to figure out
- 15:16really. I had no idea what he wanted me
- 15:18to do. What was Flying.
- 15:20And so it was that time of learning to be still learning to
- 15:24shut down the internal noise so that I could hear and I was so
- 15:29desperate to hear from God. There was minimal TV.
- 15:34Minimum phone contact and I would drive no radio on.
- 15:39And so I did that until I heard the whisper inspirational
- 15:43speaker. And and then when I heard that
- 15:45whisper was like, well how am I going to do this or you know,
- 15:48how many get started? And there again to began the
- 15:51journey. And so what I did is far as the
- 15:54networking for For that, for a legal job was like, okay, well
- 16:00this is the same thing is with Excuse me, finding a job.
- 16:03So it just doing the network reaching out and so I didn't
- 16:06know what my message was with at the time.
- 16:08And as I was reaching out networking, I went to an event
- 16:12with a with with with the Christian Funk was classic
- 16:18Christian Foundation, National Christian Foundation here.
- 16:20And I met with with met with a gentleman the presenter and he
- 16:23connects me with an attorney who also worked or not.
- 16:26Offerings. And she told me about this law
- 16:29Association of Christian lawyers.
- 16:31So their annual Retreat is here Wisconsin, so I two hours away.
- 16:35I went there, I met an attorney, an attorney from Chicago, he
- 16:38told me about National career management.
- 16:41And so, my heart was so moved by this ministry that I want to
- 16:46bring it here to Milwaukee. And I connected with the
- 16:50executive director and I got the ball rolling.
- 16:54And Jamie, I could tell you, I Never experienced God's favor as
- 17:00much as I did in starting this Prayer Ministry and I had no
- 17:04pushback from the port, the facilities management, granted
- 17:08me permission. I sent them an email in the
- 17:10morning and like the next day I had permission to access the the
- 17:16county grounds and set up the table with the other volunteers
- 17:19and everything just went seamlessly.
- 17:21And and so I met with a pastor from the church, two blocks.
- 17:26A way I wanted them to find parking for the volunteers.
- 17:30And so he was telling me the story about a group of nuns, we
- 17:33talked about prayer and he said that they prayed for a broom and
- 17:39God, someone put a broom outside the door and that story was so
- 17:45significant to me. It's like no matter how
- 17:48insignificant we think, are our needs our or concerns,
- 17:53everything matters to God. I mean that he will receive it.
- 17:56A prayer for a broom and so, you know, he granted the permission
- 18:02and the guy told me what talk to this club was a software
- 18:07Association, a club for like professionals he said talk to
- 18:10the parking manager about parking for the volunteers right
- 18:15across the street from the courthouse.
- 18:17And so I did that and then the prayer the property manager, he
- 18:20was a little hesitant at first about, you know, offering
- 18:24Offering some parking parking. And he told me that lawyers that
- 18:28belong to the to the club weren't allowed to park when the
- 18:31businessman. And you know, of course, me
- 18:33being a lawyer, I start advocating for God and then his
- 18:36name was Isaac. I said, you know, your name
- 18:38Isaac this in the Bible, you know, just really just you know
- 18:41just trying to just warm up to the idea but he granted me five
- 18:46spots. And so God just he just unfolded
- 18:50everything but it was when I when I But with when I when I
- 18:56was at The Prayer Ministry that was when the enemy tried to talk
- 19:01me out of it like telling you what you know, you have to look
- 19:04for a job. Can't spend your time doing this
- 19:07and so I just prayed about it. And God told me if you do this,
- 19:12how he's treating next opportunity, okay?
- 19:14Gotta trust. I'll do it.
- 19:15And so once I did that the ministry started, it was well
- 19:18received. And so I started, you know, I
- 19:20went up every morning Monday morning.
- 19:22We were down there at the courthouse.
- 19:24Thanks people. And I, you know, I had to come
- 19:26back up conversations with guys like okay, Lord, I do it.
- 19:30When I told you, I would do it. Like where's this opportunity
- 19:33that you promised me, that you would leave me to?
- 19:35And, and what I learned was that just because God did not respond
- 19:40right away? Didn't mean that.
- 19:42He was not going to beat me to the opportunity.
- 19:45He was testing, he was testing my faithfulness to the process.
- 19:50He was testing my obedience to what he had asked me.
- 19:54Do he was also testing me to whether I trusted him to lead me
- 19:59to the other side. So I would get up every Monday
- 20:03morning as though nothing was happening in my world.
- 20:07And I just remember just people, you know praying for a woman and
- 20:11just say our, you know, our sister was diagnosed with
- 20:13cancer. And after I pray, she says, now
- 20:15I have hope and, you know, although I didn't understand why
- 20:18God was continue to keep me there, but I understood that he
- 20:21was using me to pray for people. And along with the other
- 20:25volunteers. And so I continued on and then
- 20:30continue praying. And then another disruption
- 20:35came, my father became a terminally ill.
- 20:39And and so that was that rock my world.
- 20:43And I said to God, I said why, why now, you know, the job
- 20:47thing, I was a little bit, a little salty that I didn't have
- 20:51a new opportunity, but, you know, I was like, well, I was
- 20:53looking for a job. Anyway, while working, while I
- 20:55was employed there, so I was just Just, I had more time, so I
- 20:58thought it was a gift, but when my father became terminally ill,
- 21:01that's when it really hit me like a ton of bricks, I didn't
- 21:07have much time to to moan and cry because my father was a
- 21:15priority. And so that time really, it was
- 21:19a blessing that I could spend time with my father and with my
- 21:22brothers and my mother and helping to care for him and To
- 21:27sit with him as you transition. And I knew that, you know, we
- 21:33don't always understand God's plan.
- 21:35But when I look back, as you said in the introduction, just
- 21:38having the opportunity to be his Advocate to, you know, to go to
- 21:41the hospital with them and to advocate for him, that was just
- 21:45an opportunity that would not have had if I was working and
- 21:49having, you know, caseload and, you know, working on my cases
- 21:53and so, you know, although we may not understand God's plan.
- 21:57And while we're in the midst of the child, as we get over that
- 22:01song by and by will understand. And so it's like, well, we're
- 22:05enduring through the trial. What is so important for us is
- 22:08to know that God speak tells us in his word that he has plans to
- 22:12prosper as he has, he has good plans for us but we have to
- 22:16learn to be patient. His timing is that our timing
- 22:19and the where we would like to be positioned may not
- 22:23necessarily be where he wants us to be position.
- 22:27We looking back, I realized that being a lawyer being an advocate
- 22:31being passionate, about advocating for my clients going,
- 22:35the extra mile that got equipped me for everything that I needed
- 22:39to do every day. Just about I was in court.
- 22:42So, you know, being a lawyer in court is a very skill.
- 22:46That's invaluable, skill learning to think on your feet,
- 22:50being able to respond to an argument right away.
- 22:53It's such an invaluable skill and being able to relate and
- 22:56just The my clients just coming from various race and ethnic
- 23:01background being able to relate to different people.
- 23:04So that wasn't the self and opportunity that God was using
- 23:07me to be an ambassador at the time.
- 23:11I, you know, I wasn't really, you know, really understanding
- 23:15why God was using me, but I understood that.
- 23:20He knew my heart, he knew that that I would go the extra mile
- 23:26for Will and to talk and to offer encouragement.
- 23:31Where I went, I saw that there was a need to, and, you know,
- 23:35especially when people feel like they've been overlooked or when
- 23:38people have been rushed along, no one.
- 23:41Seriously talks to them Smiles with them, talk to them, with
- 23:46respect with the with dignity. And then when you have someone
- 23:50that, you know, interacted with you, like sometimes people just
- 23:54like, you know, it's kind of caught him off guard a little
- 23:56bit. Bit, you know, but then as they
- 23:58got to know me and just being personal, then that's where the
- 24:01magic happens, that's when they open up.
- 24:03And that's when they the trust begins.
- 24:06When they know that you're genuine and sincere.
- 24:08So you never know when we're meeting people that just, you
- 24:12know, asking God to give us that patients that the understanding
- 24:17that you just never know how he's going to use you.
- 24:20And how I words and what we do for someone can impact their
- 24:25lives and being showing a little - to someone can go a long way
- 24:29and, you know, and your encouragement and not may be
- 24:33giving up or may be feeling. Like there's no one in the world
- 24:37that really cares about them. So, you know, it's just those
- 24:40words that those, you know, that just that little time that we
- 24:43can offer, someone that can be make such a difference in
- 24:47someone's life. So yeah, it's so true and to
- 24:51back up a little bit. I love hearing how intimate you.
- 24:56He came with the Lord during your hardest times and isn't
- 25:01that true when we're going through that desert or the
- 25:04Wilderness and the storms in life, hit us?
- 25:09We are grasping onto what we know is the only hope and that
- 25:15is our lord Jesus, right? And so when we come to God and
- 25:20we're really leaning in pressing in and really wanting to get
- 25:26close to Emmet, that's what he wants.
- 25:29He wants us to get to know him in a relationship, and sometimes
- 25:37he just allows those hardships to happen.
- 25:42He doesn't cause them, but he'll allow them to enter in so that
- 25:47we can learn more of who he is. Learn more about who, you know,
- 25:53we are in Christ and know. Oh that he's the only one that
- 25:58stays the same and everything else and the world changes and
- 26:04we get so dependent. I think on worldly things and
- 26:10you. No.
- 26:11Are you no jobs or income or people and and, you know, he
- 26:17wants to show up and go. No.
- 26:19Like I am your steadfast like I am the one that will never leave
- 26:25you and never change. Change and and it's such a good
- 26:31lesson to for us to know, like our joy isn't dependent on our
- 26:34circumstances and I kind of could pick up when you said you
- 26:39walked into your job that one morning.
- 26:44You felt like you turned to leave and it was almost like you
- 26:49went in there and you went from burnout to oh well I better you
- 26:55know. You kind of had this Joy
- 26:58regardless of going back into that same office, and it was
- 27:04just a change of a heart posture for you.
- 27:07And then that was the day that they said, hey, we gotta let
- 27:11people go and, you know, that surrender and just going, okay?
- 27:16Lord, I don't know what that plan B is so many times.
- 27:21We want to know what that plan B that next step.
- 27:25I mean, we're just human, that's our Last and God.
- 27:29That's where he's got us in that hallway and we're just kind of
- 27:34going. All right, Lord, I'll just be on
- 27:37my knees, right? I mean, prayer until you open
- 27:41that door and has so hard, it's easier to say, or to, you know,
- 27:47maybe express that to somebody else because you've experienced
- 27:50that. But, you know, once somebody
- 27:53experiences that and then sees that open door, it's Like, oh my
- 27:57gosh, my my fate. It's all about that Faith,
- 28:01right? That's what it comes down to is
- 28:03just, you know, faith is being, you know, devoted to God's Will
- 28:09and waits for us to just be in commitment and devoted to his
- 28:14will and then in his timing like you're saying, you know, we just
- 28:18need to be patient and his timing is not going to be ours
- 28:23and he will reveal what that is. But he's waiting for our, our
- 28:28little heart to line up with his and are, you know, character to
- 28:33grow to be more like him and everything else.
- 28:37I would like, share this with your listener, listeners.
- 28:40What I learned. Is that what we think is working
- 28:44against us? Is really working for us.
- 28:47And it says, if we just get out of the complaining and the
- 28:50whining stage and just tell God, this is how it is.
- 28:54I don't like it. You know, just now that acting
- 28:57our circumstances, there's the first thing and and when we can
- 29:00accept it and then once we can accept it, that we don't have to
- 29:04like it. We just need to accept it.
- 29:06We just need to allow God to be God, yeah, to be God.
- 29:10Yeah. And then once we accept it, then
- 29:12the second process is surrendering to it and allowing
- 29:16God to lead you, because the most terrifying thing is to just
- 29:20get up and not know where you going in the morning.
- 29:24How you going to pay your bills and right, well, we Just start
- 29:28to think about who God is. He's giving us the opportunity
- 29:33really to intimately know that he is our provider that he is
- 29:39our way maker and that he always provides a way in the wilderness
- 29:44and the desert Seasons. So God provides a way of Escape
- 29:48but if we can just learn not to panic when it?
- 29:51Oh, and it's even said like it's easier to say than death easier
- 29:56said than I'm done when we have bills to pay, we have children
- 29:59to take care of or or if it's a health or whatever, the issues
- 30:03may be, that we're dealing with, but if we can just allow him to
- 30:08be God and to trust them and then that he knows what we need.
- 30:12And so because he knows I personality, he knows where we
- 30:16are best suited, he knows the relationships that are best for
- 30:19us. He knows the job position that
- 30:23that are that will fit well with our temperament.
- 30:26We can, he can work through us. So it is sometimes letting go of
- 30:32our plans is like what you were saying in the introduction.
- 30:35It really is, is allowing God to show you a grander plan that he
- 30:39has for your life. And that our plans will be.
- 30:42Look at God's plans, they really are little bit small and because
- 30:46he has, he has infinite. He has infinite thoughts about
- 30:50us, and we are so finite and I thought and I capacity but God
- 30:55know better where you are? He I make you skip from the
- 30:57bottom of the line, all the way up.
- 30:59He can Elevate us all the way up to the top of the line.
- 31:03And so when we just say, God, I will just trust you to be God
- 31:08and help me in my unbelief. Help me when I just all I see is
- 31:12the chaos. All I see is a turbulence
- 31:15because I know that you speak peace to the winds and the
- 31:18waves. So if I just stay in the boat, I
- 31:21know you won't let me travel over.
- 31:22I know you won't let the wind. Just take me out of this phone.
- 31:26I'll hold on. You because you're going to
- 31:28leave me, God God knows our in from a beginning, he knew he
- 31:32knows the Book of Life on us. So we're just living it out and
- 31:36what happens to us, it's new to us but to God, yes, you're right
- 31:40onto your right on schedule. I knew.
- 31:42Yes. This was what happened on this
- 31:44day. You know.
- 31:45Go ha ha. I'm not panic about it, you
- 31:47know? And we really feel like God has
- 31:49abandoned us for now, God knew was gonna happen and he just
- 31:53wants to his test is gives me his silence.
- 31:56It is our chance. What will we do?
- 31:59What we panic and what we find is what we say.
- 32:02Thank you, Lord, although I may not see what you taking me but I
- 32:06know because you're leading me. I know I can't get lost and and
- 32:10when that and we were in that and that site, when he got is
- 32:13not moving seemingly in our life, that women can learn to
- 32:17praise them and we can learn to worship him.
- 32:19And I I really understood how when we appraising on, we're
- 32:24going through the most terrible in tough times of Miser?
- 32:27What we just give it all to God and we can soar above our
- 32:31problems in in prayer and worship is like there's no other
- 32:35high. When you come down for you feel
- 32:37fortify you can just shake it off the doubt the fear because
- 32:41you know that God does not mean anything to harm has.
- 32:45He has plans for our good we can trust him.
- 32:49He's not like not like humans where he will lie.
- 32:52He's not he's not man he will not change his mind.
- 32:55So what we just Say God just help me to just trust.
- 32:59You a walk with me. Holy spirit, let me be obedient
- 33:02to your instructions. And when we are obedient to the
- 33:05instructions, we won't find ourselves in the pit.
- 33:08We will find ourselves going into the Roblox and the, the
- 33:12winding roads are finding ourselves going in circles,
- 33:15because we're Allowing God, to lead us.
- 33:18The one who has our plans. And when we do that, I can tell
- 33:23you that from my experience. I've never imagined that I would
- 33:26be an inspirational speaker. I never imagined that God would
- 33:29give me a download for the chapters of a book, what I
- 33:32understood. And what I wrote A Little Love
- 33:34Letter in my book to the region is that it was through my, my
- 33:38trials and do my portrayals, it was through the vicissitudes of
- 33:43life, that brought me to my knees.
- 33:46And I learned the power of brand and I learned that God's plans
- 33:50are so much grander than our own.
- 33:53And if we can just Chop trust him during that, that middle
- 33:57part that messy middle that the Gap.
- 34:00Well, that what we we've already, we've gone through
- 34:03that, the end of that season of disruption, we're trying to get
- 34:07on the other side of it, but if we can trust them during that
- 34:10period, that bridge that takes us over to the blessings to the
- 34:15break room. And while we're going over
- 34:18through that process, that's what we can let go of those
- 34:21variants. That's what we can.
- 34:23Let go of the hurt. But those that people that may
- 34:27have betrayed us, we can let all of that go in that little middle
- 34:32space of the cap. It come out better, come out
- 34:35wiser, come out fortified in our faith.
- 34:39The braking is not comfortable, it hurts is painful, it is and I
- 34:48would love what you said about praising God in that pain.
- 34:53I mean, I went through a really dark time Over the summer and
- 34:57all I did was praised him. Even if I didn't feel like it, I
- 35:02took what David did and I Just Praise them and it just that's
- 35:09that's the remedy. That's the medicine right there.
- 35:12I mean that yeah, that's fill me up so much and then I just kept
- 35:17doing it again and oh well, this is why King David did this, you
- 35:21know. Like this is why you know, it's
- 35:23in the Psalms is that If this actually does work and I love
- 35:28that you mentioned, praise because its power prayer and and
- 35:32praise. And sometimes we miss that preys
- 35:36part and it really does work. It brings us that that Joy back
- 35:41into our soul, it does. And, you know, it brings us and
- 35:45it brings brings the joy in our soul and then it reminds us who
- 35:49we are. We have the privilege of going
- 35:52into God's, cause we have the Privilege of thanking him and
- 35:56allowing him that he will, we can, we are praising him.
- 36:00We can take out that Garment of heavy and put on that Garment of
- 36:04Praise. And then we think about how
- 36:06faithful he is then how he has never left us.
- 36:09That he will see past our faults.
- 36:12And see I'm means and he will you know he will get even when
- 36:16we are Unfaithful. He was still blessed and that
- 36:19Mercy that he has for us the grace that he is stands for us.
- 36:23And so when we, when we I recognize what all we are are
- 36:28two when we are in his presence that just gives us a little bit
- 36:32more Authority and boldness to tackle whatever it is and then
- 36:36we're less likely to allow the enemy to start playing those
- 36:39Seasons out to letting us know that although it may have been a
- 36:43long time where you may have been a doing this but the trial
- 36:46of the Season that you're in for a while.
- 36:48But we know we have a certainty with God even though the what
- 36:52we're going through it may seem uncertain but there's still Gee
- 36:55whiz past. He hasn't been affected in, he
- 36:57has a plan for us so we just have to have that confidence and
- 37:02trust that while we're going through, we're not we're going
- 37:05through to something, to get to something better.
- 37:07God has a reason for it and that when we were going through the
- 37:12difficulty, there's a cost that we pay.
- 37:15There is a cause that was Associated that caused this pain
- 37:18that cost may be losing ourselves to find ourselves.
- 37:22It may be able to find God in a new away and a new life.
- 37:26And so there's so many benefits that we we definitely will
- 37:32receive when we're going through.
- 37:34But we can't see it as we're going through because all we can
- 37:37see is well why is God doing this to me?
- 37:41Is he punishing you? Why did this spouse?
- 37:43Leave me? Or why is this diagnosis in we
- 37:47you know, to on the Mountaintop experiences of life.
- 37:50We really don't need gap because everything is going fairly well.
- 37:55But as well weird in the background while we're walking
- 37:58through and we don't even know how we're going to make it then
- 38:01God shows up that week. He gets the glory.
- 38:04We see a physical manifestation of his glory of his spirit with
- 38:09the healing for breakthrough or whatever, we are believing him
- 38:12for. And so if we can just allow
- 38:15ourselves to just this allow God to just take this.
- 38:20On this journey, I like to call it an invitation that just
- 38:23accept this invitation, you know, there are some there are
- 38:27some little fine print that, you know, we don't know how long
- 38:30that will this. This, this journey will will
- 38:33last nor do we know if it'll get worse before it gets better but
- 38:38it's an invitation to go on a journey.
- 38:41Yes. Oh God.
- 38:43All right. Well, I think those were like
- 38:45ten takeaways here, but I know that the end.
- 38:48I like to voice. Hey, leave.
- 38:50What's the takeaway? So if you just have a few words
- 38:53here, we'll finish up with a takeaway and then let us know
- 38:58where we can connect with you. And the book you mentioned to
- 39:02anyone who is, who is experiencing disruption right
- 39:05now, you may not understand. You may not like it.
- 39:09But what I would like to say to you is to just accept what guys
- 39:13allowing in your life right now that he's not trying to punish
- 39:16you was not trying to hurt you. That there is an expected in for
- 39:21you. God has the wow factor, he will
- 39:24blow your mind. Just trust him, allow him to be
- 39:27God, allow him to lead you and just trust and have confidence
- 39:32in his plan and also trust yourself and have confidence in
- 39:37yourself. You'll have to know the answers.
- 39:39The holy spirit will give you what you need to get through.
