- 0:00There's a lot of noise around Bitcoin prices, predictions,
- 0:04opinions. Discovery usually happens in the
- 0:07quiet moments. Hard Block keeps things simple.
- 0:11Flat fees, no spreads, and a calm place to learn at
- 0:15learn.hardblock.com dot AU. Yeah, I see the world through an
- 0:20entirely different lens. It doesn't just give you
- 0:24confidence, but it gives you hope, I think like.
- 0:29We're squandering our energy, our life force.
- 0:31So Bitcoin is changing that. For me, Bitcoin is like it's
- 0:36healing energy. It gives you a kind of of a Zen
- 0:42feeling, right? Deep and deep and deep.
- 0:47And the immortal words of the doors, The time to hesitate us
- 0:51through. Discovering.
- 1:18Hello. What's going on, man?
- 1:20DJ how are you doing brother? Good to have you or good to
- 1:23have? Good to be here rather.
- 1:24Yeah, man, it's a it's a pleasure.
- 1:26I, I like to scroll through your feed and you know, it.
- 1:32It gives me a sense of calm, but also a mild anxiety in that
- 1:37these are sorts of things that I should have sorted out maybe
- 1:40when I was a little younger before I had commitments with
- 1:43family and stuff. Or just, you know, maybe I
- 1:47should just say fuck it and just move the whole damn family to
- 1:50where you are because you seem to be having a good time man.
- 1:55For sure, it's been a journey, but you know, I feel like I
- 1:58finally found a place that I really loved, so it's really
- 2:01special, you know? Yeah, you, you found the best
- 2:04rock in town. Just the other day I was looking
- 2:07at that rock and I was thinking to myself, that's that's the
- 2:10rock I want to sit on. You know, I've got a couple of
- 2:13rocks similar to where I am. But yeah, that looked like a
- 2:17nice rock. It's perfect because it was like
- 2:2090% covered by water, but the last 10% was just calling me to
- 2:24sit there. And it was so magical because
- 2:25the sun was shining down this like beautiful.
- 2:29Like kind of like a valley in a Creek.
- 2:30I don't know how to describe it, but like, yeah, it was just like
- 2:33a bunch of trees and the sun was just pointing right through.
- 2:35And it was, it was super perfect.
- 2:37So yeah, glad you saw that post. You like living the transcendent
- 2:41Bitcoin life? It's it's nuts, man.
- 2:44A dig. A dig.
- 2:47Should we get down to it? Let's do it.
- 2:50How did you discover Bitcoin? Well, it was January 2017 and I
- 2:57was six months removed from College in my first job.
- 3:02And I was a math major in college and was really good at
- 3:05math my whole life. But my people skills are kind of
- 3:08lacking. And I felt this call to like do
- 3:12a sales job and just try it out out of college, knowing that,
- 3:16you know, if I don't like it, I can always go back to math and
- 3:19it'll help me get some people skills.
- 3:20And I've heard, you know, I was hearing back then how important
- 3:22sales is just as a skill. And, you know, it was like 6
- 3:28months into my job, I was wearing like slacks and a
- 3:30collared shirt every day in, in Los Angeles.
- 3:33And I was just feeling like a bit hopeless, honestly.
- 3:38And I think because my, yeah, I just wasn't really feeling
- 3:43connected to my work and to the product I was selling.
- 3:47I suppose I was doing inside sales at a tech company, a big
- 3:49tech company. We had like 130,000 employees.
- 3:52And yeah, I just wasn't really feeling connected to my boss.
- 3:56And I forget exactly the day, but I remember the price was
- 3:58$900 and I discovered it came across Bitcoin and I was like,
- 4:04Hon, this is kind of interesting.
- 4:06And just kind of like it kind of just clicked right away.
- 4:09I don't know, I don't know exactly what specifically, but
- 4:11maybe just like the fact that it's trustless, permissionless,
- 4:15decentralized, etcetera. And I kind of kept an eye on it
- 4:19for a few months and I just had this feeling it would, it would
- 4:21go up in price. Like I was telling a friend,
- 4:23like a couple weeks later, I think it might go to $2000.
- 4:26And sure enough, I think it took like two or three months and it
- 4:28went to $2000 And I was like, whoa, like this thing maybe
- 4:32could be what I think it is. And it was super powerful and it
- 4:35just gave me like a lot of confidence to like, I think
- 4:37trust my intuition. And even though I didn't have
- 4:39any money that year to like, really, really buy a good
- 4:42amount, you know, it, it, it gave me hope.
- 4:46And in that same year, I went down like the poker rabbit hole.
- 4:50And I had been interested in poker for a long time.
- 4:52Like I kind of discovered it when I was 12.
- 4:54Like my dad and my grandpa would play online together and I would
- 4:57watch and I would play in high school and stuff.
- 4:59And I kind of discovered this guy's content on YouTube.
- 5:02He was reviewing poker hands and he was a top professional at the
- 5:05time. He was just like talking about
- 5:06like what people should have done.
- 5:07And I think Bitcoin, like seeing the price go from $900 to like
- 5:1219,000 that year, like really gave me a lot of confidence to
- 5:15trust my intuition on poker and like, really pursue it and with
- 5:20with more like aggression and like, kind of like get out of
- 5:23that job that I didn't like. So yeah, like, go to the casinos
- 5:27on the weekends in 2017 and just play for fun.
- 5:29And I'd really like, you know, I realized how kind of I wasn't
- 5:32like good at poker, but I just had this deep passion for it.
- 5:35And IN2018I in the, in the first month of 2018, the, the Bitcoin
- 5:39price had already peaked, but I had just entered this
- 5:42tournament. I think it was like a $250 buy
- 5:45in and I had tied for first for like $52,000 in January 2018.
- 5:50So it completely changed my life that tournament.
- 5:53It gave me so much confidence to like drop my job and, and pursue
- 5:56poker full time. And it was good timing because
- 5:59Bitcoin started to to pull back. And so if, if there was any
- 6:03confidence that was being shaking in Bitcoin, it was being
- 6:07gained in poker. And yeah, just pretty much like
- 6:10was able to essentially have this 6 1/2 year poker career
- 6:15since pretty much that point. And it, I would say, kind of
- 6:18changed my life forever. That's nuts man.
- 6:21If I had had told like anyone that I was going to like pursue
- 6:28a career in poker like that all call me a degenerate and be like
- 6:33right over good luck. I'm probably nowhere near as
- 6:37good as math at math as you are. Does that help?
- 6:40Like you there, There's there's there is a skill to poker like
- 6:45it's more than just luck. Yeah, I mean, to be fair, I've
- 6:50got called, I, I was told many times I would be homeless.
- 6:53This is not the, this is not a job, etcetera, etcetera.
- 6:56But I knew deep down, like I I just knew that like there was a
- 6:59way to play correctly because you're ultimately, I mean, you
- 7:03could be the 9th best poker player in the world, but if
- 7:05you're planning it's eight guys better than you, then you're not
- 7:07going to win. And just this this guy's hands I
- 7:10was reviewing on YouTube were connecting so deep with me and I
- 7:13was really understanding the strategy at a deep level.
- 7:16So basically like, yeah, there, there is a lot of strategy to
- 7:18it. And when you, when you get belt
- 7:202 cards, you're getting belt one combination out of 13126
- 7:24possible. And from there you can just make
- 7:27different like the game tree, you can just go grow so big.
- 7:30But pretty much there's nine positions at the poker table and
- 7:33there's just various ways to play each position and each,
- 7:36each player type. Like if someone's loose,
- 7:39aggressive or very tight and passive, you know, they're just
- 7:41different strategies to counter all of it, similar to chess or
- 7:45jiu jitsu in a way. So yeah, it, it was just, it
- 7:48just became essentially it was just a passion of mine that I
- 7:51was able to just take what I was really strong at, which was
- 7:56math, which was math and risk analysis, and ultimately just
- 8:01get out of that job that really was like, I think making me
- 8:05deeply miserable and depressed having to.
- 8:08Yeah, just go there and help on calls and.
- 8:09And yeah, sell a product I didn't even know really.
- 8:12I didn't even really know that that well or believe in it.
- 8:15So see ya. Yeah, right.
- 8:18I mean, so there's there is this, this, this, this skill.
- 8:23But the the thing that was calling, or rather this impulse
- 8:27inside was the intuition of like this, this sales gig is not my
- 8:31jam. Putting on these this, this
- 8:33uniform, this outfit, going to talking to these people.
- 8:37I just wasn't feeding your soul, I guess.
- 8:39It just it seems like you were craving something a bit more
- 8:43real. When you're playing poker, do
- 8:46you get into like a flow state? Is it possible to to feel almost
- 8:52meditative? Absolutely.
- 8:55Yeah, absolutely. I've had a few sessions that
- 9:00were over 20 hours long. I took breaks, but, yeah, like,
- 9:04my average session would be like, between 8:00 and 12:00
- 9:05hours. And it's a long time to sit in a
- 9:08chair and to like, you know, keep your emotions more or less
- 9:11suppressed and just, you know, really not let anything bother
- 9:13you. You're like, you know, I think a
- 9:14good poker player is almost like, kind of robotic in his
- 9:18emotions and his personality. And he's just very, like, even
- 9:20keeled and flat. And I think that is ultimately
- 9:25what led to my downfall in poker.
- 9:27And as far as, like, wanting to pursue it longer.
- 9:29But you know, at the time, I was just so sure that I wanted to do
- 9:33this and I was so ready to do anything to get out of that
- 9:36sales job. And I was like, you know what,
- 9:37I, I can become the best. And I was so sure that I'll be
- 9:40the best at it. And, you know, just have this,
- 9:42have this ultimate belief in myself.
- 9:44And I really think that the Bitcoin bull run in 2017, like
- 9:48really helped me so much. Like give me that confidence to
- 9:52trust my own self and my own skill set in that.
- 9:57This sort of meditative draw, do you think it wasn't so much the
- 10:02poker and maybe the material wealth it lay at the end of that
- 10:06game, but more so that, that sense of presence and I don't
- 10:12know, like it was, it was almost like a, it was like what you
- 10:15needed to, to do like that. That was what you're actually
- 10:18craving as a, as an experience that, that peak experience in
- 10:23that moment, 812 hour session, focus on the task at hand,
- 10:27present in the moment. That was the thing that was
- 10:30maybe drawing you, even though you may not have realized that
- 10:33at the time. It was kind of, it wasn't so
- 10:36much about the poker. It was more about the presence,
- 10:39so to speak. Yeah, maybe.
- 10:42I mean, I did love feeling like such a deep connection to the
- 10:47game and like really understanding that it's just a
- 10:49puzzle ultimately. Like, you know, this guy gets
- 10:51dealt 2 cards and I get dealt 2 cards and we're both entering
- 10:54the pot and the flop comes, you know, whatever it comes Queen
- 10:56Jack 7 and it's just like, you know, it's just a game to figure
- 10:59out. It's his hand better than mine,
- 11:00you know, and I really just honestly, genuinely enjoyed
- 11:03that, that like puzzle in my mind.
- 11:05So even though like poker is so directly tied to money, 'cause
- 11:09you're betting chips and losing money and winning money every
- 11:12few minutes, basically, if you're, if you're in a hand, the
- 11:16I didn't really get into it for the money.
- 11:18I, I just got into it because I loved it so much and it was
- 11:20just, it was just another way to like do life other than that,
- 11:25that sales job, so. Yeah, well, Maslow talks about,
- 11:32you know, Maslow's hierarchy of needs.
- 11:34He he has this concept called peak experiences.
- 11:39And basically like the TLDR is they're kind of like these
- 11:45profound, intense moments of like joy and ecstasy, self
- 11:50transcendence kind of thing. Like they're, they're like
- 11:52getting into a flow state. It's kind of like I was watching
- 11:55this documentary the other night about Stax, the record label out
- 11:59of Memphis. And one of the the singers, I
- 12:04think it was Isaac Hayes. He was just talking about like
- 12:06the first time he got up on stage and he never, he never
- 12:09knew just how wonderful a feeling that could be.
- 12:13And he describes this sort of sense of being at one with
- 12:17everything, like one with the crowd, one with the musicians
- 12:21behind him, you know, one with the sound, all this sort of
- 12:24stuff. And I was like sitting there
- 12:26going, oh, that's like a peak experience.
- 12:27Now I'm trying to like, because I was trying to frame up what
- 12:31Maslow's talking about with this peak experience.
- 12:33And then while you were talking just now with sitting at the
- 12:35poker table, like you get into this moment of of like intense
- 12:40presence and oneness, I suppose. And it sounds silly to sort of
- 12:45frame it within a, a poker context maybe, but I don't know.
- 12:49I think that's what human beings ultimately crave is are those
- 12:56sorts of peak experiences. It could be riding on the back
- 12:58of a motorcycle, you know, with, with the wind in your hair and
- 13:02you just like salt, salty air and it's just like a thrill,
- 13:06right? And you kind of so present it
- 13:10could be just, you know, making a awesome putt, whatever it is,
- 13:14could be writing and you just like you're just down and you're
- 13:17just getting it out and you just, you know, these are the
- 13:20things that human beings it's like getting high basically,
- 13:24that's why people dig and getting high comes in many
- 13:28forms. And you know, Bitcoin does like
- 13:32have elements of that, that, you know, that euphoric element when
- 13:36it rips and, and the price goes up and when the price crashes
- 13:40too, that can affect your mood and your psychology and all
- 13:44these things. And maybe you just weren't
- 13:46getting that in the sales gig. I don't know that's but
- 13:50obviously you just were like, all right, eventually boost that
- 13:54and, and focus on the poker. And then Bitcoin was kind of
- 13:58complementary to that, right? Yeah, I mean, I want to comment
- 14:03on the flow state thing because now that you say that with the
- 14:06singer and stuff like the singers in a flow state and he's
- 14:09just vibe with the crowd and they're all one.
- 14:11And the thing I think is different with poker that I've
- 14:14come to realize now is when you're singing, you're you're
- 14:18helping so many people like become more joyous, more happy,
- 14:21more excited, like you're making a big impact on their life.
- 14:24And I think in poker, like, although I was in a meditative
- 14:27state and I actually wouldn't meditate during my sessions, I
- 14:30would go play this like 10 minute recording where this guy
- 14:33would take me behind a poker library, you know, have all my
- 14:36all my knowledge there able to access whenever I want, which is
- 14:39a big reason of my success in poker was because I was like
- 14:42meditating and and doing these things to help me become like
- 14:45emotionally stable and stuff. But the, the key thing that I
- 14:49think why poker didn't last for me is because although I was in
- 14:53a flow state, like I really honestly didn't enjoy winning
- 14:56because I was like doing well. And obviously not every day was
- 15:01not every day I won. But essentially like what I was
- 15:05basically doing was when I would win, I would watch someone else
- 15:08right in front of me lose and I would play in person only.
- 15:10I never played online. So it, it honestly, throughout
- 15:13the years, I started to become quite, I don't know, I just
- 15:19started to feel bad for people, to be honest.
- 15:21And I started to see like their, their degenerate habits and how
- 15:24I'm contributing to that and how, I don't know, I just
- 15:27started to feel like a deep disconnection to the work over
- 15:30over 6 1/2 years. And when I think back to my
- 15:33poker career, like, yes, there are so many great moments all on
- 15:36the journey and the journey I think is pretty much all we have
- 15:38in life. So you have to enjoy each day.
- 15:40But the, the thing I'm most proud of is helping two guys who
- 15:45are like a few years younger than me, a few years behind me.
- 15:48Like I really changed your life through my like poker coaching
- 15:50and, and just like watching them develop and watching them grow
- 15:53into like their own poker player, like help, like watching
- 15:57their dreams become true or helping them their dreams, yeah,
- 15:59become true was like the most fulfilling thing that I had done
- 16:04at that point in my life. And luckily, I guess, yeah,
- 16:08Bitcoin is in a bear market for like most of the time during my
- 16:11poker career. So that was cool.
- 16:12I was able to like, you know, slowly DCA into Bitcoin.
- 16:14But The thing is with you play poker, you're going to need,
- 16:17you're going to need a good amount of Fiat because you can't
- 16:20work without money. So and you're not, you're not,
- 16:22you're not playing with Sats on the table unfortunately so.
- 16:26Yeah, I guess it was because that that exchange in the poker
- 16:31sense, in that poker context as opposed to like the musical
- 16:35context as it was kind of a one way exchange.
- 16:38A lot of the energy was you're kind of sucking it up if you're
- 16:41winning, right and you're sucking it up from other people.
- 16:43And there's not like an exchange where you're, you're giving and
- 16:46then as you described those young cohort coming through,
- 16:50you're able to give and offload some of that energy, some of
- 16:53that skill set you'd acquired some of that knowledge to help
- 16:58help them. I guess that's maybe the the
- 17:00part that was missing. Maybe in that poker context,
- 17:04like it's a, it's a, you're one with everything as one
- 17:08individual, but there's not really a lot of energy exchange
- 17:11like you can imagine. I mean, you see it all the time,
- 17:13musicians, singers, whatever they're, they're on stage,
- 17:16they're jamming, they're all in the present moment feeling that,
- 17:21that, that, that beat that soul. And there's a, a real transfer
- 17:26of energy between everybody. Whereas at a poker table, I
- 17:29suppose, you know, it's not like you, you, you're getting juice
- 17:33from the, the dealer, right? Or the other players, you know,
- 17:37they're, they're holding back their energy because they're
- 17:39like, fuck you, man, I want to beat you, you know, maybe.
- 17:45We can all like smile, laugh at the poker table, but at the end
- 17:47of the day, like we're, we're all there for one reason.
- 17:49And it's just, it's just a win, you know, and I guess other guys
- 17:52could be there for entertainment and for fun and whatnot.
- 17:54And that's true. But they still want to win too.
- 17:56And they, they are trying their best.
- 17:58So, yeah, in the, in the music scene, you know, I see it as
- 18:00like a net positive where people are, you know, the, the singers
- 18:03uplifting others to become more joyous, more excited.
- 18:07And in poker, you know, ultimately, like a lot of it is
- 18:09built on a on a really unstable foundation where your
- 18:14friendships like aren't ever you, you know, you're kind of
- 18:16incentivized to lie to some of the some of the guys you play
- 18:18with because you don't really want them to know how you think.
- 18:21And, and what I discovered in my life was like my relationships
- 18:24at that point were, were not great.
- 18:26And that was like kind of my main, one of my main, I guess,
- 18:32not concerns, but just like one of the things that kind of woke
- 18:35me up was like realizing how I was doing well in my job.
- 18:37And I thought this would be the solution to the sales job thing.
- 18:40But ultimately I still felt a bit empty and depressed.
- 18:42And I wasn't, yeah. I wasn't really feeling very
- 18:45vibrant in my body. I was staying up every day until
- 18:47like 3:00 AM working and waking up at 11 or noon and just
- 18:51drinking coffee right away and, and sitting all day.
- 18:54So I felt very stiff in my body. And my my relationships were,
- 18:57were pretty bad in general. Like didn't really have any deep
- 19:00connections to people other than those two students.
- 19:02But at the end of the day, it was still like a business
- 19:03relationship where we just trained poker all day pretty
- 19:06much. And yeah, like I, I ultimately
- 19:09realized that like, you know, acquiring money just for the
- 19:14sake of it and acquiring Bitcoin as well, I guess like didn't
- 19:18really bring me the fulfillment I wanted to.
- 19:20And that's kind of why I don't really talk about Bitcoin on my
- 19:22page because what changed my life was actually community was
- 19:25actually nature was meditation, yoga, like being being
- 19:30surrounded by Bitcoiners was, was super life changing to me.
- 19:33Not, not that was like, yeah, something I'll never forget.
- 19:37You know, it's like when I actually discovered, like these
- 19:40people actually want me to do well, or the better, the more
- 19:43knowledge I have, the more people want me around, right?
- 19:45Whereas in poker, like the more knowledge you have, the less
- 19:47anyone wants you there, to be honest.
- 19:49And you're just, you're not like looked at with like kind of like
- 19:51an evil eye, like people want you to leave, you know, And I
- 19:54really feel like that kind of led to like a deep depression I
- 19:56was in, you know, during COVID and after COVID and kind of like
- 20:01realizing all these, all these facts about my career.
- 20:04Bitcoin doesn't announce itself. It reveals itself.
- 20:07Not in the moment you buy, but in the moment you stop thinking
- 20:10of it as a trade, start sensing it as a discovery.

- 20:54hardblock.com dot AU. So what was the impulse to like
- 21:00you obviously shifted away from that.
- 21:02And, you know, I'm not sure what the journey was to get to where
- 21:06you are now, but you mentioned before about trusting your
- 21:11intuition and and and it was a lesson, you know, that that OK,
- 21:14you can that that impulse, that that feeling in your gut, listen
- 21:19to it, follow it, see where it leads.
- 21:24A lot of people don't do that. You know, Stana talks about
- 21:28intuitive thinking as a, as a, as a path to spiritual
- 21:31awakening. Effectively, they, they actually
- 21:35changed the name of the book and one of his major works is called
- 21:40philosophy of freedom. And the subtext, the subtitle
- 21:43rather is yeah, intuitive thinking as a spiritual path.
- 21:47And that's, that kind of says everything I think you need to
- 21:50know is like, if, if you want to move towards where you're going
- 21:56to be best balanced and, and, and feeling at peace, it's like
- 22:02tapping into that intuition, you know?
- 22:06100% And yeah, that intuition led me to a retreat in Costa
- 22:10Rica. I had spent about like 30 years
- 22:14more or less in California and I was playing nearby my hometown
- 22:18poker or I, I'd gone to college a few hours away, but I came
- 22:21back to my hometown pretty much. And, and yeah, I was just like
- 22:24in my hometown and wasn't really feeling too connected to my
- 22:26friends there. And no one really understood me
- 22:28as a poker player. And I also didn't want to talk
- 22:30about like the kinds of money I was making and losing because it
- 22:33was just like it was some nights were very volatile and it just,
- 22:36I don't know, I feel like people didn't connect to it.
- 22:38And which is fair, you know, and like some of the nights got to
- 22:43be quite, quite large on both sides.
- 22:46And yeah, just like, it was like a very lonely journey,
- 22:48ultimately playing poker. And I pretty much just felt
- 22:51called to like going like a health retreat in Costa Rica.
- 22:55There's one retreat that called me that was like basically for
- 22:58people who are into, who are entrepreneurs and content
- 23:01creators to like try out yoga, meditation, breathwork, nature
- 23:06immersion, waterfalls, business masterminds, ecstatic dance.
- 23:11And it was in the Bitcoin jungle.
- 23:12And we got to experiment like with, you know, Bitcoin at the
- 23:15commerce market and stuff. And and yeah, I was like, you
- 23:17know what, like this is going to be a bit risky because I don't
- 23:19really feel super confident in my social skills outside of
- 23:21poker. But this is this is I think what
- 23:25I need. And my goal going into the
- 23:27retreat was just to like get some rejuvenation, restoration,
- 23:31maybe some like adventure, meet some new people and and then
- 23:34like feel better in my body so I can come back and play more
- 23:36poker. But I showed it to the retreat
- 23:38and I was like, you know, just like observing everyone and how
- 23:41like joyous they were and peaceful and like just making
- 23:44new friends. And I was like, wow, like these
- 23:46people are like just in, I don't know, they're like they're
- 23:49taking care of themselves. I feel in some ways in their
- 23:51health, in their, in their mind. And I felt this like deep peace
- 23:54when I went to Costa Rica, this deep like connection to the, to
- 23:58the land there. I don't know what it was, but
- 24:01essentially I, on the, the 5th or 6th day of the retreat, I had
- 24:05this like epiphany that I should like that I was deeply
- 24:07depressed. And poker was like the big
- 24:11reason for that. And, you know, me putting myself
- 24:14in that environment all day, spending time in the casino for,
- 24:17you know, 40 to 60 hours a week was it was just so draining and
- 24:21just being around those guys. But yeah, I pretty much had a
- 24:26rock bottom with my health, with my mood, with, with, with hope,
- 24:30I suppose. And that retreat was like one of
- 24:32the biggest rejuvenating things I could have ever done.
- 24:35And it kind of set me on this quest to like, figure out like,
- 24:37what is life all about? So, yeah, I ended up moving to
- 24:41Mexico for like a few months after that.
- 24:42And then I went back to Costa Rica on a second retreat and
- 24:46traveled to Bali last year in Australia and back to Bali.
- 24:49And now I'm back in Costa Rica and I've just been on this
- 24:52journey and I've, it's been so much fun and I've met so many
- 24:55cool people. And yeah, I have just realized
- 25:00like what's changed my life. And it's community meditation,
- 25:03It's yoga. So I've been just finished like
- 25:06a yoga teacher training a few months ago and a meditation
- 25:08teacher training. And I'm teaching this, this
- 25:10class in town here, a meditation class.
- 25:12So it's like, it's just so epic, all these practices that have
- 25:15changed my life. And yeah, 2 days ago, like two
- 25:18people were crying at the end of my class.
- 25:20And it's just so honestly, it's just so fulfilling to like see
- 25:23the impact that like I can have on someone and just like have
- 25:26them connect deeply to, to their inner self, you know,
- 25:30cultivating more peace, more gratitude for life.
- 25:32And just like ultimately, yeah, being more present because when
- 25:35we're not present, we're, we're in our mind, we're in the past,
- 25:38we're in the future, we're anywhere else but the here and
- 25:40now, which I feel is where life is, is really meant to be lived.
- 25:44And it's the beauty of life, you know, just truly just being
- 25:46present. Yeah, Amen.
- 25:50Widening that, that width, that thickness of the presence is, is
- 25:56so crucial and it's such a, such a, a process to learn.
- 26:02And it's something certainly that I've been learning over the
- 26:03last couple of years and really trying to, to be here now
- 26:10basically like that. Rhonda said it and like, that's
- 26:13one of the best mantras I think I could, I could think of.
- 26:16I just love, I love saying that and reminding myself of that on
- 26:22the daily as many times as I can because it's so fleeting.
- 26:28Time. Time used to fuck me up as a
- 26:30kid, You know, I'd be like, Oh, it was a week ago that I was
- 26:33having fun with my friends doing something, something, or it was
- 26:36always like this, this, or I'm looking forward to something in
- 26:39the future and I was never focused on the past and sorry on
- 26:43the present. And, and you'd just be sort of
- 26:46trapped looking forward to the next thing or like lamenting on
- 26:51the on the thing that had just gone, you know, like I, I don't
- 26:55know, I wouldn't speak for you in the in the sales gig, but I
- 26:58used to, to work a role and you know, it was, you'd look forward
- 27:02to the weekend because it would just, it sort of signified you,
- 27:06you could do what you want. You're free, you had the weekend
- 27:09and do whatever you want. Ultimately, you probably just
- 27:11fuck around spending money on alcohol and, and pissing it up
- 27:17at the wall and then sleeping it off on Sunday.
- 27:21You know, that was my experience.
- 27:23And look, we had some good times.
- 27:25It was good, but you know, that shit's not sustainable.
- 27:30But once you I, I guess that comes with a a sense of maturity
- 27:35as well as you as you get older. Maybe some people are fortunate
- 27:39enough to tap into that like super early and be exposed to
- 27:43that super early, which which is cool.
- 27:45Everyone's on their own journey and there's no right or wrong
- 27:47path. But when you can tap into that
- 27:51concept of be here now, like the whole world opens up, It's it's
- 27:57the coolest thing. You no longer lament the past.
- 28:00You no longer sort of concern yourself too much with the
- 28:03outcomes of the future. Because if you're constantly
- 28:07here in the present, well, then that's just what you're doing.
- 28:11And then people are like, well, but what about like the meeting
- 28:13in two weeks that you've got and you're like, whoa, I'll deal
- 28:15with it then. You know, I'll deal with the
- 28:18booking of the meeting now and then I'll do the meeting now
- 28:23when the meeting is now, like you know you can.
- 28:27Focus until now staying calm on doing my work and, you know,
- 28:31being centered in myself and just.
- 28:32Yeah. And it's crazy because once you
- 28:34realize that life is in the here and now, you realize that the
- 28:37past is all perfect because it it literally got you to
- 28:40understand exactly what you know now.
- 28:42And you're in this exact moment and this exact moment is
- 28:45perfect. And even, Yeah, like you said,
- 28:47you know, those those late nights drinking alcohol on the
- 28:49weekends, you know, after getting off work from 9:00 to
- 28:515:00. And and I used to do the same
- 28:52thing because ultimately I was just looking for an escape
- 28:54because I didn't like the the reality I was living in.
- 28:57And yeah, but but I don't look back with any like, regret
- 29:02because I know that it all brought me to, to, to who I am
- 29:04today and to like, yeah, that I suppose like more, more mature
- 29:07version than me that is more stable and understands more
- 29:10about the world and understands more about myself.
- 29:12So I just feel ultimately super grateful for all those times,
- 29:15including poker, including the sales job, including the late
- 29:18nights, you know, in LA and sleeping off and and yeah, I
- 29:23just feel like a deep sense of gratitude now for the beauty of
- 29:26life and for the sunrises, the sunsets.
- 29:30Yeah. So it's it's all like, it's all
- 29:32perfect. Ultimately, that's the attitude,
- 29:35man, 100%. When you're doing, when you're
- 29:38teaching meditation, what what's the, the sort of the method, the
- 29:42technique that you tend to focus on?
- 29:45Do you do guided? Are you talking about like
- 29:47focusing on the breath? Yeah.
- 29:51So I usually do a few styles. Basically I start my my classes
- 29:54off like a little Dharma talk and then I guide them through
- 29:57like a few minutes, few units of movement because movement helps
- 30:01us sit longer if we're able to open up some of the channels in
- 30:04our body. And then I typically do like a
- 30:06centering breath practice for about 3 to 5 minutes.
- 30:10And then I guide people through a seat of meditation for about
- 30:1415 minutes. We do, typically, we change off
- 30:18various styles, like there's Zaza and there's anaphana.
- 30:21You can gaze into your third eye chakra or I'm going to do one on
- 30:25Saturday that's for the root chakra.
- 30:27And then I typically people, yeah, I can only really sit
- 30:31about 15 minutes comfortably. And so I like to switch them
- 30:33down to laying down meditation, about 15 or 20 minutes.
- 30:37There's a style like to teach called yoga nidra, Super
- 30:40powerful, really restorative. It helps you get into like the
- 30:42Theta brain wave state and it's just deeply healing.
- 30:45And that's all completely guided.
- 30:46And then I like to end my classes with meta loving
- 30:50kindness meditation. It's pretty much like what's
- 30:52changed my life, connecting more to my heart center and that's
- 30:56seated. So yeah, super powerful.
- 30:58You pretty much end up sending your awareness, your your loving
- 31:01awareness around the world one step at a time and just connect
- 31:04to your heart 'cause ultimately I feel, you know, life is just a
- 31:08journey from your head to your heart. 18 inches and for me, I
- 31:13spent so many years like over analyzing everything like in my
- 31:16thoughts, like trying to figure out every single player I was
- 31:18playing against in poker and like just different strategies
- 31:20and different concepts. And I would like merge together
- 31:23like 3 or 4 professional players I like and like kind of make it
- 31:26my own strategy. Ultimately just various concepts
- 31:29I had. And essentially I was just in my
- 31:31head all day is is the idea. And the more that I'd be able to
- 31:35tap my heart center, my heartbeat, the feeling of
- 31:38gratitude, like more into my body, like the honesty and more
- 31:41peace and like more calmness and less stress, I've been able to
- 31:44feel my day-to-day life. And it's been super powerful and
- 31:48really impactful all my life. And yeah, it's really, really
- 31:51epic to like share these practices because like I said,
- 31:53it brings people a deep sense of emotion, which is what I've
- 31:57suppressed for such a long time playing poker.
- 32:00And yeah, it's, it's just really powerful.
- 32:02So that's kind of like the theme by my class.
- 32:06The the head heart connection is such an underrated connection.
- 32:14I don't know, there's this, there's this Rhonda's meditation
- 32:17that I do fairly frequently where you sort of breathe in
- 32:22through your heart, send that energy up into your head and out
- 32:26the top. And then you breathe down from
- 32:29the top of your head, through the top of your head, and then
- 32:32out through your heart. And it's this connection of
- 32:35between the form and the formless.
- 32:37And you do that by going, you know, through into the heart,
- 32:42out to the head, back into the head, out to the heart.
- 32:45And after it, there is just such a sense of peacefulness because
- 32:53the mind is it like the brain is not really your friend.
- 32:58Let's be honest. The mind is the mind is an
- 33:01asshole really. And it, it, it talks you out of
- 33:06things or it gets you swound up about stuff.
- 33:10It gets you thinking about things that you literally cannot
- 33:12do anything about because it's in the past.
- 33:16And it always comes like the, the, the, some of the worst
- 33:20moments, like when you're about to go to sleep, for instance,
- 33:23your brain's like, oh, you know, and, and, and then you, it gets
- 33:28exacerbated by this fucking phone.
- 33:32I noticed you posted, you know, you, you sort of drop in your
- 33:36phone between, was it 8:00 PM and 8:00 AM?
- 33:39I'm completely failing at that at the moment, unfortunately.
- 33:43I was trying to do it, but it like this, this thing compounds
- 33:48that monkey mind so much and pulls you out of that present
- 33:53moment because it it'll show you things again that you can't
- 33:57control, that you can't do anything about.
- 33:59And that's the general state of play for most people.
- 34:03And it's such a powerful like it's a superpower.
- 34:05If you can, you can, if you can extract yourself out of that
- 34:10through some sort of medicine practice, some sort of
- 34:14acknowledgement of presence, you know, because that's where the
- 34:18world spins out of control in this in this widening guy or
- 34:21just attention seeking bullshit. And yeah, the brain, the brain
- 34:27at at like at worst is I mean, without the phone is going to,
- 34:32is going to give you a hard time, you know?
- 34:36Yeah, and that's why I feel it's so important for me, you know,
- 34:38to have that new rule of 8:00 PM to 8:00 AM because like you, I
- 34:42mean, at least I can speak from my experience.
- 34:43Like I sleep so much better when I just turn it off at 8 and able
- 34:47to wind down with like some therapeutic music, maybe some
- 34:50yen yoga to open up my hips. And then in the morning, like
- 34:53waking up and just like going outside and just like breathing
- 34:56and and feeling a sense of gratitude for the day, doing
- 34:58some stretching like that is just.
- 35:00So I just feel like my day is way better that way when I, when
- 35:03I structured that way versus waking up doom scrolling.
- 35:07I've done that obviously several times and, and my breath I've
- 35:10noticed gets way shorter when I scroll.
- 35:11And, and just getting all these people's opinions and there's so
- 35:14many different things kind of trying to get your attention on
- 35:17the phone. And apps are super addictive
- 35:18nowadays, obviously. And that's why I like obviously
- 35:20using NASA and Primal because it doesn't have that addictive
- 35:24feature. But yeah, I mean the mind is,
- 35:27the mind is insane. And we think like 50 to 60,000
- 35:30thoughts per day and the mind will drift every 5 to 6 seconds.
- 35:33So if you're not doing those daily practices, some sort of
- 35:37breath work, meditation, movement, going outside to just
- 35:41like clear the air, you know, it's, it's got to be you're
- 35:45going to have more of a stressful day.
- 35:46And that was my experience being a bitcoiner for so many years.
- 35:50Like, you know, immediately dooms going when I woke up and
- 35:53trying to figure, oh, is there where should I play poker today?
- 35:56Go there, that guy come in. You know, it's just like
- 35:58non-stop, like nervous system hijacked, honestly, like, and I
- 36:02did it to myself. So there's nothing, no one to
- 36:04blame but me. But yeah, I mean, it's, it's
- 36:08just insane once you start doing some of these practices because
- 36:11you realize how you, you, you don't even know in the moment.
- 36:15I couldn't even know. I couldn't even tell you.
- 36:17Like I was sick when I was playing poker or I was depressed
- 36:19or miserable or feeling a bit low.
- 36:21Like, I mean, I can kind of tell you, yeah, I'm not super
- 36:22vibrant. But now that I'm doing these
- 36:24practices and like teaching the things I'm teaching and, and
- 36:27like going down this other journey, like I can tell you for
- 36:29sure, like back then I was, I was in a lot of pain and yeah,
- 36:34my mind was just going crazy. It's your mind can tell you,
- 36:37Your mind will tell you, you need to check the price of
- 36:39Bitcoin 52 times in a day. And it's just like you don't
- 36:42need to check the price of Bitcoin that many times.
- 36:43You don't need to open Instagram 57 times in a row.
- 36:46You know, like, like it's crazy what the mind can do, can do,
- 36:50you know, And yeah, it's powerful.
- 36:52Once you take a step back from these things and start to
- 36:53observe your mind, start to witness your thoughts, start to
- 36:56just like almost watch yourself in like a third party and like,
- 36:59huh, Like why, why does my mind tell me I need pizza right now?
- 37:02Like I don't, you know, like, yeah, it's just, it's, it's
- 37:06super interesting stuff. It's cool that you do those
- 37:07meditations and and are seeing the the impact it's having on
- 37:11you. Yeah, it's, it's, it's one of
- 37:14the things is like, and I, I will say this because I listen
- 37:18to, I listen to podcasts all the time and I'm like, yeah, bro,
- 37:20but like, like, I, I don't know, I think you, you might be down
- 37:24in the jungle with Paul Saldano. But anyway, the point, the point
- 37:28is like, I'll watch these videos and, and then I go, yeah, but
- 37:32like, like if you got kids getting up at like 5:30 in the
- 37:35morning, 6:00 like, and they're like, let's do this.
- 37:39And that used to wind me up a lot because I'd be like, well, I
- 37:41want to do those things, but I can't because like, I'm, I'm in
- 37:45this present moment and, and I'd start to feel slightly
- 37:49resentful. And then I was like, well, hang
- 37:51on, that's not their fault. Like, and just because you'd
- 37:53like, you know, so listening to to Ramdas, he would say in some
- 37:59of these lectures, you know, that's, that's your Dharma.
- 38:03Do that, that's your practice. Be present in whatever that is.
- 38:07So if the kids are up and they need something to eat or, you
- 38:11know, whatever else, yeah, OK, you might not be able to get out
- 38:14onto the grass and soak up some of the sun, but maybe you can
- 38:17maybe take them out for a minute and then like that, that just
- 38:19let them run around, you know, spend a couple of minutes doing
- 38:23that or be present in that moment of, you know, making them
- 38:27breakfast or whatever the case is.
- 38:29As soon as I sort of reframed the, the, the action, it was
- 38:35like, oh, you can just do this anytime you want.
- 38:37I could do this while I'm at work.
- 38:38I could do this while I'm driving.
- 38:40I can do this while I'm like going to pick up some groceries.
- 38:44Like this is this is constantly here.
- 38:46It's just like a thing that I can tap into.
- 38:50So it's not even about like fully leaning into the whole
- 38:53lifestyle of it. It's literally a change of
- 38:55mindset in whatever environment you're in and bringing that
- 39:02sense of peace just for that fleeting moment and and maybe
- 39:05trying to hold onto it for longer and longer periods each
- 39:08time you kind of bring it back. But yeah, that's been like
- 39:11revelatory, I think, for me anyway.
- 39:15Yeah, and that's powerful. And even if you can even just do
- 39:18like 3 deep breaths with the kids on the grass and just maybe
- 39:22ask them like 3 things we're grateful for today.
- 39:23And just like have like a few minutes to center and just like
- 39:26start the morning from like a place of calmness with them.
- 39:29Even though maybe they want to run around but and maybe they
- 39:31can run around after. But I think, yeah, just having
- 39:33that like that deep presence of like, OK, I'm connected to my
- 39:37breath. I will be calm and centered
- 39:39today. And you know, I know that maybe
- 39:42can't do the full 30 minute thing, but that's OK because I
- 39:45can, I can just do my best with this moment and, and play, yeah,
- 39:50play with your kids in what? In the mood they're in.
- 39:51Maybe they're in a more playful mood so you can go play and
- 39:53whatnot. But yeah, that's really cool to
- 39:56reframe that as like less of a victim and more of a creator, I
- 39:59think for you and as a parent. So good stuff.
- 40:02Yeah, man, it's just it's a lifestyle choice.
- 40:06You got to, you got to, yeah, you got to lean in.
- 40:08Quick break. Just to say, if you're enjoying
- 40:10the show and digging what you hear, please consider supporting

- 40:18If you're listening via podcasting 2 point O apps such
- 40:21as Fountain, Pod Verse or Breeze, it's easier done than
- 40:25said. All you got to do is tap the
- 40:27boost button or set an amount of sats to stream per minute while
- 40:31you're listening. Alternatively, if you want to
- 40:34ZAP me direct via lightning address, please send snaps and
- 40:38sats or zaps of sats in support of the show to Discovering
- 40:43Bitcoin at primal.net. Thank you for listening and
- 40:47thank you for your support. How has discovering Bitcoin
- 40:52changed you? I feel like it's really gives me
- 41:02a lot of hope for the future and it really gives individuals more
- 41:08power and more sense of control in their day-to-day life.
- 41:14Obviously it's, you know, an amazing way to store energy over
- 41:19long periods of time. And your time is energy.
- 41:22And yeah, back when I was working that sales job, I was,
- 41:26I'll get 2 paychecks a month and one of my paychecks would go
- 41:28directly towards rent and my rent would was raising, you
- 41:30know, like, so it was just like I felt completely hopeless, like
- 41:33knowing that I would spend half the month to just make money to
- 41:37pay rent And I was like what? I'm paying rent so I can work at
- 41:40the job. And then it was just this crazy
- 41:42loop I was in. But yeah, it's changed my life
- 41:45in so many ways. It's not me to the Bitcoin
- 41:48jungle. And I'm close friends with Paul,
- 41:51Paul in the jungle who's super cool guy, obviously big on
- 41:54primal. And yeah, you just connect over
- 41:57like health and Bitcoin and, and just met so many cool people
- 42:00honestly, like out here in the markets and even at my my, my
- 42:03meditation class, there's these people that come from England
- 42:05and they've they connected here through Bitcoin and other their
- 42:08I'm guiding them the meditations and it's just so powerful,
- 42:11honestly, like the the people I've been able to meet because
- 42:14yeah, I wasn't really feeling connected to our hometown
- 42:17anymore in California, mainly because of the community and
- 42:21just yeah, people I don't know, I just didn't feel like deep
- 42:25connection to them. But yeah, out here in Costa Rica
- 42:27and Bitcoin jungle, like there's so many cool bit corners around.
- 42:29And I think that's what really makes this way special is the is
- 42:32the community aspect of it. So ultimately Bitcoin changed my
- 42:36life in in many ways. But but yeah, I think the main
- 42:40thing is just giving me hope for the future and then giving me
- 42:42like confidence to follow my intuition and ultimately
- 42:45community. And then from there, like, you
- 42:47know, I need to go into health and friendships and ultimately,
- 42:52you know, doing retreats, teaching meditation, teaching
- 42:54yoga, like helping Bitcoiners get healthy and helping them
- 42:57connect to other Bitcoiners. Ultimately, that's kind of like
- 42:59that's like my purpose. What's cool is that you can do
- 43:04all those things without Bitcoin.
- 43:07But yeah, with Bitcoin, it's a much firmer foundation on which
- 43:16to do those things. And you can walk into those
- 43:20moments, you know, those situations, into that
- 43:23marketplace, into that community, into that friendship
- 43:27with a lot more assurance and less anxiety that you're going
- 43:33to be pulled back out. And you have to go back and do
- 43:36more Fiat things in order to maintain that and get back to
- 43:43that kind of, you know, again, it's like chasing those sorts of
- 43:45peak experiences. You can get a peak experience at
- 43:48the markets. I mean, I do it every week.
- 43:50I love going down to the markets and seeing the same familiar
- 43:55faces, buying the same delicious stuff as characters, all the
- 43:59stuff. It's it's such a joyful thing to
- 44:02experience and to do. And particularly, you know, not
- 44:05even like I could just bring my family.
- 44:07It's it's the coolest thing. What I find super interesting
- 44:10is, yeah, so you can do those things without Bitcoin, but it's
- 44:14kind of amplifies it all. And, you know, you hang out with
- 44:18other Bitcoiners, they're all very highly motivated,
- 44:22intuitive, joyful people. Net, net, you know, And so then
- 44:27that has like A and a compounding effect, I suppose.
- 44:32And then they all encourage each other to kind of be better in
- 44:36whatever capacity, you know, and it's, it's, it's kind of this
- 44:40paradox because Bitcoin exists on the Internet as like this,
- 44:44you know, it's peer-to-peer electronic cash and yet you
- 44:49interact with it in meat space, with other people in meat space
- 44:52and it has this transcendent outcome.
- 44:55It's fucking strange, man. I don't, I can't.
- 44:58It's, it's we're 100 and almost 160 episodes in and like, I'm
- 45:02still grappling with this. How does, how does this digital
- 45:06virtual thing affect me so physiologically and
- 45:10psychologically? I just, I can't, you know?
- 45:16Yeah, there's a power to it. Like I was reading exact number
- 45:20of hours you need to be friends with someone.
- 45:21But I think it's like for adults, like you need like
- 45:23between 70 and 200 hours, like really with someone to be kind
- 45:26of like be their friend or have this deep, you know, deep
- 45:28relationship with them. But I feel like when you meet
- 45:31someone who's a Bitcoiner, you have that almost like expedites
- 45:34the process by a fair amount because you guys have these
- 45:36shared values and you guys almost like are mirrors for each
- 45:40other. And like it's a really profound
- 45:41way where you see some of yourself and this other person
- 45:44and they see some of themselves in you.
- 45:46And like, there's just like, I don't know, this deep connection
- 45:48there that you can start to just talk about like quick things
- 45:52like, oh, like, how do you know, like what parts of Bitcoin
- 45:54excite you? And there's, I think there's
- 45:56like what 10 ways or more that you can like talk about, you
- 45:58know, between price and freedom and etcetera.
- 46:03There's a million ways you can connect with someone over
- 46:04Bitcoin, But like you get to understand like why that person
- 46:07in the Bitcoin and then why you're in the Bitcoin and just
- 46:09connect on maybe the shared sharedness of it.
- 46:11And there's just so many other questions that can lead from
- 46:14there that can, you guys can get essentially kind of deep pretty
- 46:18quickly as far as like yourselves and, and what you're
- 46:23interested in, you know, way quicker than the 70 or 200 hours
- 46:27that I think makes it really special.
- 46:28And yeah, it's, it's just so magical 'cause I don't know,
- 46:34people are, people are into so many things.
- 46:35But yeah, if they're into meditation, yoga and surfing,
- 46:38like it's like, wow, like, you know, there, it's like a
- 46:40gorgeous 2 peas and a pot at that point.
- 46:42And we're just out here having fun, you know, like we're, we
- 46:44don't even really talk about Bitcoin past the first couple
- 46:46days, but yeah, yeah, we just like into health and into like,
- 46:50you know, having fun and, and sharing our gifts with the world
- 46:53ultimately. Well, how many friends have you
- 46:56made as an adult before Bitcoin? And how many friends have you
- 47:01made as an adult after Bitcoin? I think playing poker had a had
- 47:08a big part to do with the low number before, but yeah, it
- 47:11it's, it's I would guess like 5 to 20X more after Bitcoin for
- 47:17sure. I mean minimum.
- 47:19Like, yeah, almost all the friends I've met now have been
- 47:21from like retreats and from just meeting here locally.
- 47:25Like, you know, it's so powerful, just even going to
- 47:27like exotic dance or going to the markets, you know, just, I
- 47:31don't know, you see the same people over and over and you
- 47:33eventually get in a conversation with them.
- 47:35And yeah, it's honestly wild. Like I, I can't even really
- 47:39describe the power when you like meet other big corners and, and
- 47:42just connect with them like it's, it changes your life.
- 47:45Yeah, I, I have like 3 high school buddies which we're close
- 47:51and we get along, you know, and we've been around for like, you
- 47:55know, a long time and that's kind of it.
- 47:59And then, you know, just, I've got, I've got close Bitcoin
- 48:04friends, which I'm probably even closer with.
- 48:06And it's fucked up because I hardly ever see them in real
- 48:09life. But there's like, I remember
- 48:12this one guy, I literally met him and like, I don't know, he's
- 48:16he's just, he's just a dude. And like you could, I could
- 48:20never picture that happening as an adult because because like
- 48:24you to make friends as an adult, it's always this fucking awkward
- 48:27thing. But even like pre-existing
- 48:28relationships that I've had with other other people have become
- 48:32stronger because we've kind of both discovered this Bitcoin
- 48:36thing and it's just, I don't know, maybe I'm ascribing too
- 48:40much outcome and output from to to Bitcoin and I should be
- 48:45cautious of that. But it's, it's almost like it
- 48:48just it, as you said, like you cut through all of that bullshit
- 48:51and you can expedite to the heart of it so much faster, you
- 48:57know, and then if you're hanging around all day and usually the
- 49:01Bitcoin thing just drops completely off and you just
- 49:03don't like whatever. Like we can just start talking
- 49:06about like infinitely more interesting things and and
- 49:09Bitcoins is an infinitely interesting thing, but you know
- 49:11that. Is true.
- 49:13But it. Also, it's like an introduction
- 49:15to so many other rabbit holes. You know about life and you've
- 49:18had some powerful conversations. I was going to say something
- 49:22else, but yeah, I'll, I'll, I'll let you keep going.
- 49:25No, I was, well, I mean, you talk about the rabbit holes.
- 49:27I mean, gosh, I didn't think I would have bothered with the
- 49:32like a podcast. I don't think I would have
- 49:35bothered with learning about so many things.
- 49:39I mean, fuck economics and really, definitely interested me
- 49:42because it was always so esoteric on the news.
- 49:45And yet it's not. It's like the most easiest thing
- 49:48you can ever think. I'm just going to do the work to
- 49:51read those books. Yeah.
- 49:52I mean, it just, it just opens up a whole new world of if
- 49:57you're a curious person, I mean, this is the playground. 100%,
- 50:03yeah. And like, I think a lot of bit
- 50:04corners kind of can maybe, and I'm speaking from my own
- 50:07experience here, but like we kind of like the black sheeps of
- 50:09our family per SE. And like we're kind of maybe
- 50:11thought of like the oddballs and the unique ones.
- 50:13And I think we all kind of like maybe can resonate and of those
- 50:15over those shared values of like feeling a bit misunderstood, but
- 50:18also feeling understood within each other because we we see the
- 50:21problem and we know there's a solution that is so elegant and
- 50:25has worked so well, you know, to this point.
- 50:27So yeah, it's, it's, it's honestly epic and excited to, to
- 50:32see where it goes from here. I mean, obviously we're in a
- 50:34deep fair market right now, it seems like.
- 50:36But you know, ultimately just it's, it's, it's, it's all a
- 50:41gift. It's all, it's all perfect and
- 50:42it's all happening at the right speed.
- 50:43And and yeah, people are waking up slowly each day, so I'm
- 50:47grateful. Yeah, that is a powerful thing
- 50:50to say, particularly in the face of of like price action where
- 50:55you know, it, it it is, it just is man.
- 50:57Like what are you going to do about it?
- 50:58Like deal with it. People get themselves wound up
- 51:03so much, you know, on on online trying to predict this, say that
- 51:09whatever else. And and like, and it's all
- 51:11fugazi, it's all distraction. It's like the price will go up,
- 51:13price will go down, whatever, it's all it's all good.
- 51:16And I guess like being in the Bitcoin jungle, maybe can you
- 51:21just maybe give us a paint a bit of a picture there?
- 51:24You know, we see, I see glimpses, you know, through like
- 51:29a noster through Noster or through through sometimes
- 51:32Tutruta. And it just, it just seems like
- 51:36it's cool, man. Like to be able to just go to a
- 51:38market and buy all this fresh fruit and delicious food and pay
- 51:42him Bitcoin. Like that's got to be just as a
- 51:45normal thing. It's not even a novelty anymore.
- 51:47It just must be like a day-to-day.
- 51:50Honestly, yeah, it's crazy and no one even talked about the
- 51:53price of Bitcoin ever. Like never.
- 51:55It's never even talked about in in real life here.
- 51:57I had never even heard it. Any merchant, any local merchant
- 52:00talk about the price. They're all just like, Yep, OK,
- 52:02sure you want to pay Bitcoin. You don't whatever.
- 52:04You know, it's cool. Like they're they're they're
- 52:06detached. It's like, I'll give you, I'll
- 52:07take USD colonis Bitcoin, but yeah, it's just so cool because
- 52:11people are just it's just so integrated now and I think and
- 52:13it's been going for like I think four years or so maybe Bitcoin
- 52:16jungle. Yeah, it's it's really powerful.
- 52:19I know the egg guy. He's like bought a car with his
- 52:22gains in Bitcoin. He just sells eggs every week
- 52:24for like 5 or 10 bucks for like 3060 eggs, whatever it is.
- 52:28And yeah, he's just seen appreciation since 2022.
- 52:32So yeah, it's really powerful. What was the other question you
- 52:36asked? Like the life here?
- 52:38Yeah, just like a picture, a glimpse in the I mean, the the
- 52:41fact that old mate has just bought a car selling eggs like
- 52:45that would never happen in the local market in like a Fiat
- 52:50predominant country and which is most places, certainly here.
- 52:54I just can't imagine it. I've I've been chatting to some
- 52:56of the local vendors, you know, each week hassling them a little
- 53:00bit. Price action is not helping.
- 53:02But like they, I'm trying to articulate look, but you know,
- 53:07if, if you, if you swept this in you, you could like, you hear
- 53:11the Popusa lady over in El Salvador, she's been able to
- 53:15scale up to buy a truck, right? And, and, and scale her business
- 53:18a little bit. This is what you can do.
- 53:21It's not about getting rich. It's about just making your life
- 53:24slightly easier. And, or you can still
- 53:27concentrate on your craft, which is selling eggs or whatever it
- 53:30is. You know, like, imagine telling
- 53:32someone you can, you can buy a car just by selling eggs and you
- 53:36don't have to go into debt or anything like that, that that's
- 53:40totally antithetical to how most people live.
- 53:43Exactly. And it really just helps, I
- 53:45think people change their time preference because ultimately,
- 53:48yeah, like if you're in Fiat land, your, your, your time
- 53:50preferences has to be high by default because it's if it's
- 53:53not, you're going to get, you know, wiped away through
- 53:55inflation and through just the melting of yeah, the melting of
- 53:59Fiat essentially slowly, you know, 7% a year or whatever it
- 54:01is. And yeah, it really starts you
- 54:04it when you start saving your Bitcoin, it starts to help you
- 54:06think about your time preference and really building products
- 54:11that are really strong. And maybe this guy has better,
- 54:13you know, these are just chickens with, with better feed
- 54:16now or whatever, whatever he does to continue to like make
- 54:19sure he has the best eggs in the market.
- 54:20And yeah, it's really powerful when when, when you're starting
- 54:24to save in Bitcoin and seeing the power of it.
- 54:26Obviously, like I said, you know, now we're in a bear
- 54:27market, so it's a little bit different, but, but still like,
- 54:30you know, like you're, you're getting double the SAT's for the
- 54:32same eggs like that guy right now.
- 54:34And he's eventually going to see the the reward of that, you
- 54:36know, and, and however long. But yeah, it's about just
- 54:39staying patient, staying humble, staying focused on your on your
- 54:45purpose. And I think bear markets are
- 54:47great for building great for, yeah, just working on your craft
- 54:51and being better at your gifts so you can continue to help
- 54:55other people and, and change their life.
- 54:56And that's what's really changed my life is instead of going from
- 55:00poker, you know, ultimately like coming out here and, and, and
- 55:03changing people's life from the inside out, you know, helping
- 55:05them become more peaceful, more grateful, more connected to
- 55:08their bodies and their hearts and, and to their community.
- 55:11And yeah, it's just like a magical place out here in
- 55:14Bitcoin jungle. I love it.
- 55:15Yeah, it's more, it's more contributive rather than
- 55:18extractive. I guess is the is the kind of
- 55:21key there? Exactly.
- 55:23And I think that's like the key to life, honestly, like be more
- 55:25like figured out a way to contribute your gift to the
- 55:27world. And you will become, not only
- 55:29will you, will you make money, but you'll become more fulfilled
- 55:31that way because you're helping others and seeing the impact of
- 55:35your work on them. And that's it.
- 55:36That's going to want to make you keep doing it.
- 55:38And you're in this like now you're in this positive loop of
- 55:42service, which is so powerful. Yeah, Jurassic Five have a line
- 55:47in one of their songs. If you're a part of the problem
- 55:50or a part of the solution, what's your contribution to
- 55:52life? I love that.
- 55:54I love that, yeah. What do you wish more people
- 55:57knew about Bitcoin? That is not volatile.
- 56:08Your Bitcoin itself is, is producing a block every 10
- 56:12minutes. And the, the supply schedule is
- 56:14very stable where if we're looking at it through a Fiat
- 56:17lens, you're going to see that it's, you're going to think it's
- 56:20volatile, but it's actually Fiat is volatile.
- 56:24The Fiat system is, is very unstable I would say.
- 56:26And you don't know when the next Fed rate cut will be with the
- 56:30next president will be, you know, what if they're going to
- 56:32do QE or QT or whatever, you know, fancy dragon you want to
- 56:36sit here and talk about like the, the legacy system, the Fiat
- 56:40system is actually quite, quite volatile.
- 56:43And Bitcoin itself is, is not volatile.
- 56:46And once people start looking at it that way, I think their
- 56:49perception of it will change because I don't think many
- 56:52people understand how the legacy system works.
- 56:54And I think that could be on could be by design.
- 56:56But yeah, I think I think if you start seeing Bitcoin, it's like,
- 57:00wow, things very stable. It's producing a new block every
- 57:0210 minutes. It's just, you know, block by
- 57:06block, whatever the sayings are a pick block next block thing.
- 57:09You start to just become more calm when it drops and you start
- 57:13to realize it's just an opportunity to build, to buy
- 57:16more, to get get better at your craft so you can stack and reap
- 57:21the rewards. You know, when the price does
- 57:23eventually rise and people start to figure it out that the price
- 57:25that is on sale. So yeah, that's what I would.
- 57:28That's what I would say. Right on, right on.
- 57:31What does Bitcoin mean to you? Hope, liberation, truth,
- 57:42independence and sovereignty. Nailed it.
- 57:49The full suite. It's a full house.
- 57:51It's a full house. It, it really is, yeah.
- 57:54It's powerful, powerful stuff. I mean, I've just seen it change
- 57:56people's lives. And even though I feel like
- 57:59other things have changed my life more like the health stuff,
- 58:02but it, it all started with Bitcoin, you know, and I'm just
- 58:05so grateful for the for finding it and really giving me that
- 58:08confidence to like go pursue my, my actual dreams in life.
- 58:11Is that the end of the day, Bitcoin is just money, you know,
- 58:13and it's just going to amplify. The more Bitcoin you have, let's
- 58:16say, you know, it's just going to more amplify how you already
- 58:18feel about yourself deep inside. So if you're feeling depressed,
- 58:20it's going to, my opinion, make you feel a lot more.
- 58:23And that was kind of my experience.
- 58:25So when I was able to actually change my Interstate through
- 58:29daily practices like meditation, breath work, yoga, nature,
- 58:32emerging waterfalls, surfing community, etcetera, like and
- 58:36surrounding myself with the corners and going to like the
- 58:38right retreats, that was when I was able to like actually shift
- 58:42my life in a positive way. So, yeah, just know it's not,
- 58:47it's not going to like, yeah, there's more to life than just
- 58:50money ultimately. And true wealth is, is health,
- 58:54family, freedom, et cetera and, and purpose and mission, you
- 58:58know, having, having a mission that's bigger than you.
- 59:01So yeah. Right on, Bo Bo, thank you so
- 59:06much for spending some scarce time finding energy telling us
- 59:08the tale of how you discovered Bitcoin.
- 59:10It's been a very pleasurable conversation, man.
- 59:13I am much obliged and eternally grateful.
- 59:17Thank you. Thank you DJ for helping
- 59:19brother. Keep up the good work and much
- 59:21love.
