- 0:00Speaker 1: Hether, chapter ten. And it came to pass that Chez,
- 0:04Speaker 1: who was a descendant of Hath, for Hath had perished
- 0:07Speaker 1: by the famine, and all his household save it were Chez.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Wherefore Chez began to build up again a broken people.
- 0:15Speaker 1: And it came to pass that Chez did remember the
- 0:17Speaker 1: destruction of his fathers, and he did build up a
- 0:20Speaker 1: righteous kingdom, for he remembered what the Lord had done
- 0:23Speaker 1: in bringing Jared and his brother across the deep, and
- 0:27Speaker 1: he did walk in the ways of the Lord, and
- 0:29Speaker 1: he begat sons and daughters, and his eldest son, whose
- 0:33Speaker 1: name was Chez, did rebel against him. Nevertheless, Chez was
- 0:37Speaker 1: smitten by the hand of a robber because of his
- 0:39Speaker 1: exceeding riches, which brought peace again unto his father. And
- 0:44Speaker 1: it came to pass that his father did build up
- 0:46Speaker 1: many cities upon the face of the land, and the
- 0:48Speaker 1: people began again to spread over all the face of
- 0:51Speaker 1: the land. And Chez did live to an exceedingly old age,
- 0:55Speaker 1: and he begat Ripleykish, and he died, and Ripleykish reigned
- 0:59Speaker 1: in his stead. And it came to pass that Riplikish
- 1:02Speaker 1: did not do that which was right in the sight
- 1:04Speaker 1: of the Lord. For he did have many wives and concubines,
- 1:08Speaker 1: and did lay that upon men's shoulders, which was grievous
- 1:11Speaker 1: to be borne. Yea, he did tax them with heavy taxes.
- 1:15Speaker 1: And with the taxes he did build many spacious buildings,
- 1:19Speaker 1: and he did erect him an exceedingly beautiful throne. And
- 1:22Speaker 1: he did build many prisons. And whoso would not be
- 1:25Speaker 1: subject unto taxes, he did cast into prison, and whoso
- 1:29Speaker 1: was not able to pay taxes, he did cast into prison.
- 1:32Speaker 1: And he did cause that they should labor continually for
- 1:35Speaker 1: their support. And whoso refused to labor, he did cause
- 1:38Speaker 1: to be put to death. Wherefore he did obtain all
- 1:42Speaker 1: his fine work Yea, even his fine gold, he did
- 1:45Speaker 1: cause to be refined in prison, and all manner of
- 1:48Speaker 1: fine workmanship he did cause to be wrought in prison.
- 1:51Speaker 1: And it came to pass that he did afflict the
- 1:53Speaker 1: people with his hortems and abominations. And when he had
- 1:57Speaker 1: reigned for the space of forty and two years, the
- 2:00Speaker 1: people did rise up in rebellion against him, and there
- 2:03Speaker 1: began to be war again in the land, insomuch that
- 2:05Speaker 1: ripley Kish was killed and his descendants were driven out
- 2:09Speaker 1: of the land, and it came to pass after the
- 2:12Speaker 1: space of many years, Morianton, he being a descendant of
- 2:16Speaker 1: ripley Kish, gathered together an army of outcasts and went
- 2:20Speaker 1: forth and gave battle unto the people, and he gained
- 2:23Speaker 1: power over many cities, and the war became exceedingly sore,
- 2:27Speaker 1: and did last for the space of many years. And
- 2:30Speaker 1: he did gain power over all the land, and did
- 2:32Speaker 1: establish himself king over all the land. And after that
- 2:36Speaker 1: he had established himself king, he did ease the burden
- 2:39Speaker 1: of the people, by which he did gain favor in
- 2:42Speaker 1: the eyes of the people, and they did anoint him
- 2:45Speaker 1: to be their king. And he did do justice unto
- 2:48Speaker 1: the people, but not unto himself, because of his many hortems,
- 2:52Speaker 1: wherefore he was cut off from the presence of the Lord.
- 2:56Speaker 1: And it came to pass that Moriantin built up many cities,
- 2:59Speaker 1: and the people both became exceedingly rich under his reign,
- 3:02Speaker 1: both in buildings and in gold and silver, and in
- 3:05Speaker 1: raising grain, and in flocks and herds and such things
- 3:09Speaker 1: which had been restored unto them. And mari Anton did
- 3:13Speaker 1: live to an exceedingly great age. And then he begat Kim,
- 3:17Speaker 1: and Kim did reign in the stead of his father,
- 3:20Speaker 1: and he did reign eight years, and his father died,
- 3:23Speaker 1: and it came to pass that Kim did not reign
- 3:25Speaker 1: in righteousness, wherefore he was not favored of the Lord.
- 3:29Speaker 1: And his brother did rise up in rebellion against him,
- 3:32Speaker 1: by which he did bring him into captivity. And he
- 3:36Speaker 1: did remain in captivity all his days, and he begat
- 3:39Speaker 1: sons and daughters in captivity, and in his old age
- 3:42Speaker 1: he begat Levi, and he died, and it came to
- 3:46Speaker 1: pass that Levi did serve in captivity after the death
- 3:49Speaker 1: of his father, for the space of forty and two years,
- 3:52Speaker 1: and he did make war against the king of the land,
- 3:55Speaker 1: by which he did obtain unto himself the kingdom. And
- 3:59Speaker 1: after he had obtained unto himself the kingdom, he did
- 4:02Speaker 1: that which was right in the side of the Lord.
- 4:04Speaker 1: And the people did prosper in the land. And he
- 4:07Speaker 1: did live to a good old age and begat sons
- 4:09Speaker 1: and daughters. And he also begat Koram, whom he anointed
- 4:13Speaker 1: king in his stead. And it came to pass that
- 4:16Speaker 1: Koram did that which was good in the sight of
- 4:19Speaker 1: the Lord all his days, and he begat many sons
- 4:21Speaker 1: and daughters. And after he had seen many days, he
- 4:24Speaker 1: did pass away, even like unto the rest of the earth.
- 4:28Speaker 1: And Kish reigned in his dead. And it came to
- 4:31Speaker 1: pass that Kish passed away also, and Lib reigned in
- 4:34Speaker 1: his stead. And it came to pass that Lib also
- 4:37Speaker 1: did that which was good in the sight of the Lord.
- 4:40Speaker 1: And in the days of Lib, the poisonous serpents were destroyed.
- 4:43Speaker 1: Wherefore they did go into the land southward to hunt
- 4:46Speaker 1: food for the people of the land, for the land
- 4:49Speaker 1: was covered with animals of the forest. And Lib also
- 4:52Speaker 1: himself became a great hunter. And they built a great
- 4:56Speaker 1: city by the narrow neck of land, by the place
- 4:59Speaker 1: where the sea divine the land. And they did preserve
- 5:02Speaker 1: the land southward for a wilderness to get game. And
- 5:05Speaker 1: the whole face of the land northward was covered with inhabitants.
- 5:09Speaker 1: And they were exceedingly industrious. And they did buy and
- 5:13Speaker 1: sell and traffic one with another that they might get gain.
- 5:16Speaker 1: And they did work in all manner of ore, and
- 5:19Speaker 1: they did make gold and silver, and iron and brass,
- 5:22Speaker 1: and all manner of metals, and they did dig it
- 5:25Speaker 1: out of the earth. Wherefore they did cast up mighty
- 5:28Speaker 1: heaps of earth to get ore of gold and of silver,
- 5:31Speaker 1: and of iron and of copper. And they did work
- 5:34Speaker 1: all manner of fine work, and they did have silks
- 5:38Speaker 1: and fine twined linen, and they did work all manner
- 5:41Speaker 1: of cloth, that they might clothe themselves from their nakedness.
- 5:45Speaker 1: And they did make all manner of tools to till
- 5:48Speaker 1: the earth, both to plow and to sow, to reap
- 5:51Speaker 1: and to hoe, and also to thrash. And they did
- 5:54Speaker 1: make all manner of tools with which they did work
- 5:56Speaker 1: their beasts. And they did make all manner of weapons
- 5:59Speaker 1: of war, and they did work all manner of work,
- 6:02Speaker 1: of exceedingly curious workmanship. And never could be a people
- 6:06Speaker 1: more blessed than were they, and more prospered by the
- 6:09Speaker 1: hand of the Lord. And they were in a land
- 6:12Speaker 1: that was choice above all lands, for the Lord had
- 6:15Speaker 1: spoken it. And it came to pass that lib did
- 6:18Speaker 1: live many years and begat sons and daughters, and he
- 6:22Speaker 1: also begat he Artham. And it came to pass that
- 6:25Speaker 1: hi Artham reigned in the stead of his father. And
- 6:28Speaker 1: when h Artham had reigned twenty and four years, behold
- 6:31Speaker 1: the kingdom was taken away from him, and he served
- 6:34Speaker 1: many years in captivity, yea, even all the remainder of
- 6:37Speaker 1: his days. And he begat Heth, and Heth lived in
- 6:41Speaker 1: captivity all his days, and Heth begat Erin, and Erin
- 6:46Speaker 1: dwelt in captivity all his days, and he begat Amnagada.
- 6:50Speaker 1: And Amnagada also dwelt in captivity all his days, and
- 6:53Speaker 1: he begat Kriantum, and Kriantum dwelt in captivity all his days,
- 6:58Speaker 1: and he begat Combe. And it came to pass that
- 7:01Speaker 1: Coombe drew away the half of the kingdom, and he
- 7:05Speaker 1: reigned over the half of the kingdom forty and two years.
- 7:08Speaker 1: And he went to battle against the king Amgd, and
- 7:12Speaker 1: they fought for the space of many years, during which
- 7:14Speaker 1: time Coomb gained power over Amgd and obtained power over
- 7:19Speaker 1: the remainder of the kingdom. And in the days of
- 7:22Speaker 1: Comb there began to be robbers in the land, and
- 7:25Speaker 1: they adopted the old plans and administered oaths after the
- 7:29Speaker 1: manner of the ancients, and sought again to destroy the kingdom.
- 7:34Speaker 1: Now Coomb did fight against them much. Nevertheless, he did
- 7:38Speaker 1: not prevail against them ether chapter eleven. And there came
- 7:44Speaker 1: also in the days of Coombe, many prophets and prophesied
- 7:47Speaker 1: of the destruction of that great people, except they should
- 7:50Speaker 1: repent and turn unto the Lord and forsake their murders
- 7:52Speaker 1: in wickedness. And it came to pass that the prophets
- 7:55Speaker 1: were rejected by the people, and they fled unto Coomb
- 7:58Speaker 1: for protection, for the people sought to destroy them. And
- 8:02Speaker 1: they prophesied unto comb many things. And he was blessed
- 8:05Speaker 1: in all the remainder of his days, and he lived
- 8:09Speaker 1: to a good old age, and Begat Shiblam, and Shiblam
- 8:12Speaker 1: reigned in his stead, and the brother of Shiblam rebelled
- 8:16Speaker 1: against him, and there began to be an exceedingly great
- 8:19Speaker 1: war in all the land. And it came to pass
- 8:22Speaker 1: that the brother of Shiblam caused that all the prophets
- 8:26Speaker 1: who prophesied of the destruction of the people should be
- 8:29Speaker 1: put to death. And there was great calamity in all
- 8:32Speaker 1: the land, for they had testified that a great curse
- 8:35Speaker 1: should come upon the land and also upon the people,
- 8:38Speaker 1: and that there should be a great destruction among them,
- 8:41Speaker 1: such an one as never had been upon the face
- 8:44Speaker 1: of the earth, and their bones should become as heaps
- 8:47Speaker 1: of earth upon the face of the land, except they
- 8:49Speaker 1: should repent of their wickedness. And they hearkened not unto
- 8:54Speaker 1: the voice of the Lord, because of their wicked combinations.
- 8:57Speaker 1: Wherefore there began to be wars and content in all
- 9:00Speaker 1: the land, and also many famines and pestilences, insomuch that
- 9:04Speaker 1: there was a great destruction, such an one as never
- 9:07Speaker 1: had been known upon the face of the earth. And
- 9:11Speaker 1: all this came to pass in the days of Shiblam,
- 9:14Speaker 1: and the people began to repent of their iniquity, and
- 9:17Speaker 1: inasmuch as they did, the Lord did have mercy on them.
- 9:22Speaker 1: And it came to pass that Shiblam was slain, and
- 9:24Speaker 1: Seth was brought into captivity, and did dwell in captivity
- 9:28Speaker 1: all his days. And it came to pass that Aha
- 9:31Speaker 1: his son, did obtain the kingdom, and he did reign
- 9:34Speaker 1: over the people all his days, and he did do
- 9:37Speaker 1: all manner of iniquity in his days, by which he
- 9:39Speaker 1: did cause the shedding of much blood. And few were
- 9:42Speaker 1: his days. And Etham, being a descendant of Aha, did
- 9:46Speaker 1: obtain the kingdom, and he also did do that which
- 9:49Speaker 1: was wicked in his days. And it came to pass
- 9:52Speaker 1: that in the days of Ethim, there came many prophets
- 9:56Speaker 1: and prophesied again unto the people. Yea, they did prophesy
- 9:59Speaker 1: that the Lord Lord would utterly destroy them from off
- 10:01Speaker 1: the face of the earth, except they repented of their iniquities.
- 10:06Speaker 1: And it came to pass that the people hardened their
- 10:08Speaker 1: hearts and would not hearken unto their words. And the
- 10:12Speaker 1: prophets mourned and withdrew from among the people. And it
- 10:16Speaker 1: came to pass that Ethan did execute judgment and wickedness
- 10:19Speaker 1: all his days, and he begat Morun. And it came
- 10:21Speaker 1: to pass that Morn did reign in his stead, and
- 10:24Speaker 1: Morun did that which was wicked before the Lord. And
- 10:26Speaker 1: it came to pass that there arose a rebellion among
- 10:29Speaker 1: the people because of that secret combination which was built
- 10:32Speaker 1: up to get power and gain. And there arose a
- 10:34Speaker 1: mighty man among them in iniquity and gave battle unto
- 10:37Speaker 1: Morn in the which he did overthrow the half of
- 10:40Speaker 1: the kingdom. And he did maintain the half of the
- 10:43Speaker 1: kingdom for many years. And it came to pass that
- 10:46Speaker 1: Morn did overthrow him and did obtain the kingdom again.
- 10:50Speaker 1: And it came to pass that there arose another mighty man,
- 10:53Speaker 1: and he was a descendant of the brother of Jared,
- 10:56Speaker 1: And it came to pass that he did overthrow Morn
- 10:59Speaker 1: and obtain the king kingdom. Wherefore Morum dwelt in captivity
- 11:03Speaker 1: all the remainder of his days, and he begat Corianter.
- 11:08Speaker 1: And it came to pass that Corianer dwelt in captivity
- 11:10Speaker 1: all his days. And in the days of Corianer, there
- 11:13Speaker 1: also came many prophets and prophesied of great and marvelous things,
- 11:18Speaker 1: and cried repentance unto the people, And except they should repent,
- 11:22Speaker 1: the Lord God would execute judgment against them, to their
- 11:25Speaker 1: utter destruction, and that the Lord God would send or
- 11:28Speaker 1: bring forth another people to possess the land by his power,
- 11:32Speaker 1: after the manner by which he brought their fathers. And
- 11:35Speaker 1: they did reject all the words of the prophets because
- 11:38Speaker 1: of their secret society and wicked abominations. And it came
- 11:42Speaker 1: to pass that Corianter begat Ether, and he died, having
- 11:46Speaker 1: dwelt in captivity all his days. Ether chapter twelve. And
- 11:52Speaker 1: it came to pass that the days of Ether were
- 11:54Speaker 1: in the days of Koreantemer, and Kriantomer was king over
- 11:58Speaker 1: all the land, and there was a prophet of the Lord.
- 12:02Speaker 1: Wherefore Ether came forth in the days of Coriantomer and
- 12:05Speaker 1: began to prophesy unto the people, For he could not
- 12:08Speaker 1: be restrained because of the spirit of the Lord which
- 12:10Speaker 1: was in him. For he did cry from the morning
- 12:14Speaker 1: even until the going down of the sun, exhorting the
- 12:17Speaker 1: people to believe in God, unto repentance, lest they should
- 12:20Speaker 1: be destroyed, saying unto them that by faith all things
- 12:23Speaker 1: are fulfilled. Wherefore whoso believeth in God might with surety
- 12:28Speaker 1: hope for a better world. Yea even a place at
- 12:31Speaker 1: the right hand of God, which hope cometh. Of faith
- 12:35Speaker 1: maketh an anchor to the souls of men, which would
- 12:38Speaker 1: make them sure and steadfast, always abounding in good works,
- 12:43Speaker 1: being led to glorify God. And it came to pass
- 12:46Speaker 1: that Ether did prophesy great and marvelous things unto the people,
- 12:51Speaker 1: which they did not believe, because they saw them not.
- 12:54Speaker 1: And now I Maroni would speak somewhat concerning these things.
- 12:59Speaker 1: I would show and the world that faith is things
- 13:02Speaker 1: which are hoped for and not seen. Wherefore dispute not
- 13:05Speaker 1: because ye see not, for ye received no witness until
- 13:09Speaker 1: after the trial of your faith. For it was by
- 13:12Speaker 1: faith that Christ showed himself unto our fathers after he
- 13:16Speaker 1: had risen from the dead, And he showed not himself
- 13:19Speaker 1: unto them until after they had faith in him. Wherefore
- 13:22Speaker 1: it must needs be that some had faith in him.
- 13:26Speaker 1: For he showed himself not unto the world, but because
- 13:29Speaker 1: of the faith of men. He has shown himself unto
- 13:32Speaker 1: the world, and glorified the name of the Father, and
- 13:35Speaker 1: prepared a way that thereby others might be partakers of
- 13:38Speaker 1: the heavenly gift, that they might hope for those things
- 13:41Speaker 1: which they have not seen. Wherefore ye may also have
- 13:45Speaker 1: hope and be partakers of the gift, if ye will
- 13:49Speaker 1: but have faith. Behold, it was by faith that they
- 13:52Speaker 1: of old were called after the holy order of God.
- 13:55Speaker 1: Wherefore by faith was the law of Moses given. But
- 13:59Speaker 1: in the gift of his son hath God prepared a
- 14:02Speaker 1: more excellent way. And it is by faith that it
- 14:06Speaker 1: hath been fulfilled. For if there be no faith among
- 14:09Speaker 1: the children of men, God can do no miracle among them.
- 14:12Speaker 1: Wherefore he showed nought himself until after their faith. Behold,
- 14:17Speaker 1: it was the faith of Alma and Amulek that caused
- 14:20Speaker 1: the prison to tumble to the earth. Behold, it was
- 14:23Speaker 1: the faith of Nephi and Lehi that wrought the change
- 14:26Speaker 1: upon the Lamanites, that they were baptized with fire and
- 14:29Speaker 1: with the Holy Ghost. Behold, it was the faith of
- 14:32Speaker 1: Ammon and his brethren which brought so great a miracle
- 14:36Speaker 1: among the Lamanites. Yea, and even all they who wrought
- 14:40Speaker 1: miracles wrought them by faith, even those who were before Christ,
- 14:45Speaker 1: and also those who were after. And it was by
- 14:48Speaker 1: faith that the three disciples obtained a promise that they
- 14:51Speaker 1: should not taste of death. And they obtained not the
- 14:54Speaker 1: promise until after their faith. And neither at any time
- 14:58Speaker 1: hath any wrought miracles until after their faith. Wherefore they
- 15:04Speaker 1: first believed in the Son of God. And there were
- 15:08Speaker 1: many whose faith was so exceedingly strong even before Christ came,
- 15:12Speaker 1: who could not be kept from within the veil, but
- 15:15Speaker 1: truly saw with their eyes the things which they had
- 15:18Speaker 1: beheld with an eye of faith, and they were glad.
- 15:22Speaker 1: And behold, we have seen in this record that one
- 15:24Speaker 1: of these was the brother of Jared, For so great
- 15:28Speaker 1: was his faith in God, that when God put forth
- 15:30Speaker 1: his finger, he could not hide it from the sight
- 15:33Speaker 1: of the brother of Jared, because of his word which
- 15:35Speaker 1: he had spoken unto him, which word he had obtained
- 15:38Speaker 1: by faith. And after the brother of Jared had beheld
- 15:41Speaker 1: the finger of the Lord, because of the promise which
- 15:44Speaker 1: the brother of Jared had obtained by faith, the Lord
- 15:47Speaker 1: could not withhold anything from his sight. Therefore he showed
- 15:51Speaker 1: him all things, for he could no longer be kept
- 15:55Speaker 1: without the veil. And it is by faith that my
- 15:58Speaker 1: fathers have obtained the promise that these things should come
- 16:01Speaker 1: unto their brethren through the Gentiles. Therefore the Lord hath
- 16:05Speaker 1: commanded me, yea even Jesus Christ, And I said, unto him, Lord,
- 16:11Speaker 1: the gentiles will mock at these things because of our
- 16:15Speaker 1: weakness in writing. For Lord, thou hast made us mighty
- 16:18Speaker 1: in word by faith, but thou hast not made us
- 16:21Speaker 1: mighty in writing. For thou hast made all this people
- 16:24Speaker 1: that they could speak much because of the holy ghost
- 16:26Speaker 1: which thou hast given them, And thou hast made us
- 16:30Speaker 1: that we could write but little because of the awkwardness
- 16:32Speaker 1: of our hands. Behold, thou hast not made us mighty
- 16:36Speaker 1: in writing, like unto the brother of Jared. For thou
- 16:39Speaker 1: madest him that the things which he wrote were mighty,
- 16:42Speaker 1: even as thou art unto the overpowering of man to
- 16:45Speaker 1: read them. Thou hast also made our words powerful and great,
- 16:50Speaker 1: even that we cannot write them. Wherefore, when we write,
- 16:54Speaker 1: we behold our weakness and stumble because of the place
- 16:57Speaker 1: in of our words. And I fear lest the gentiles
- 17:00Speaker 1: shall mock at our words. And when I had said this,
- 17:04Speaker 1: the Lord spake unto me, saying, fools mock, but they
- 17:08Speaker 1: shall mourn. And my grace is sufficient for the meek,
- 17:12Speaker 1: that they shall take no advantage of your weakness. And
- 17:15Speaker 1: if men come unto me, I will show unto them
- 17:18Speaker 1: their weakness. I give unto men weakness that they may
- 17:22Speaker 1: be humble. And my grace is sufficient for all men
- 17:26Speaker 1: that humble themselves before me. For if they humble themselves
- 17:30Speaker 1: before me and have faith in me, then will I
- 17:33Speaker 1: make weak things become strong unto them. Behold, I will
- 17:37Speaker 1: show unto the gentiles their weakness, and I will show
- 17:40Speaker 1: unto them that faith, hope, and charity bringeth unto me
- 17:45Speaker 1: the fountain of all righteousness. And I Maron, I, having
- 17:49Speaker 1: heard these words, was comforted and said, O Lord, thy
- 17:53Speaker 1: righteous will be done. For I know that thou workest
- 17:56Speaker 1: unto the children of men according to their faith. For
- 17:59Speaker 1: the brother of Jared said, unto the mountain Zarin, remove,
- 18:03Speaker 1: and it was removed. And if he had not had faith,
- 18:06Speaker 1: it would not have moved. Wherefore thou workest after men
- 18:10Speaker 1: have faith. For thus didst thou manifest thyself unto thy disciples.
- 18:15Speaker 1: For after they had faith and did speak in thy name,
- 18:19Speaker 1: Thou didst show thyself unto them in great power. And
- 18:22Speaker 1: I also remember that thou hast said that thou hast
- 18:25Speaker 1: prepared a house for man, yea even among the mansions
- 18:29Speaker 1: of my father, in which man might have a more
- 18:32Speaker 1: excellent hope. Wherefore man must hope or he cannot receive
- 18:37Speaker 1: an inheritance in the place which thou hast prepared. And
- 18:40Speaker 1: again I remember that thou hast said that thou hast
- 18:43Speaker 1: loved the world even unto the lane down of thy life,
- 18:46Speaker 1: for the world, that thou mightest take it again to
- 18:49Speaker 1: prepare a place for the children of men. And now
- 18:53Speaker 1: I know that this love which thou hast had for
- 18:55Speaker 1: the children of men is charity. Wherefore, except men shall
- 18:59Speaker 1: have charity, they cannot inherit that place which thou hast
- 19:02Speaker 1: prepared in the mansions of thy father. Wherefore I know
- 19:06Speaker 1: by this thing which thou hast said, that if the
- 19:08Speaker 1: gentiles have not charity because of our weakness, that thou
- 19:12Speaker 1: wilt prove them and take away their talent yea, even
- 19:16Speaker 1: that which they have received, and give unto them who
- 19:18Speaker 1: shall have more abundantly. And it came to pass that
- 19:22Speaker 1: I prayed unto the Lord that he would give unto
- 19:24Speaker 1: the gentiles grace, that they might have charity. And it
- 19:28Speaker 1: came to pass that the Lord said, unto me, if
- 19:32Speaker 1: they have not charity, it mattereth not unto thee thou
- 19:35Speaker 1: hast been faithful. Wherefore thy garments shall be made clean.
- 19:40Speaker 1: And because thou hast seen thy weakness, thou shalt be
- 19:44Speaker 1: made strong, even unto the sitting down in the place
- 19:47Speaker 1: which I have prepared in the mansions of my father.
- 19:51Speaker 1: And now I, Marona, bid farewell unto the gentiles, yea,
- 19:54Speaker 1: and also unto my brethren, whom I love, until we
- 19:58Speaker 1: shall meet before the judgment seat of Christ, where all
- 20:01Speaker 1: men shall know that my garments are not spotted with
- 20:04Speaker 1: your blood. And then shall we know that I have
- 20:08Speaker 1: seen Jesus, and that he hath talked with me face
- 20:12Speaker 1: to face, and that he told me in plain humility,
- 20:16Speaker 1: even as a man telleth another in mine own language,
- 20:18Speaker 1: concerning these things. And only a few have I written,
- 20:22Speaker 1: because of my weakness in writing. And now I would
- 20:26Speaker 1: commend you to seek this Jesus, of whom the prophets
- 20:29Speaker 1: and apostles have written, that the grace of God the Father,
- 20:32Speaker 1: and also the Lord Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost
- 20:35Speaker 1: which beareth record of them, may be and abide in
- 20:38Speaker 1: you forever, Amen, Ether chapter thirteen. And now I, Marona,
- 20:46Speaker 1: I proceed to finish my record concerning the destruction of
- 20:49Speaker 1: the people of whom I have been writing. For Behold,
- 20:52Speaker 1: they rejected all the words of Ether, for he truly
- 20:56Speaker 1: told them of all things from the beginning of man,
- 20:59Speaker 1: and that after the waters had receded from off the
- 21:01Speaker 1: face of this land, it became a choice land above
- 21:04Speaker 1: all other lands, a chosen land of the Lord. Wherefore
- 21:08Speaker 1: the Lord would have that all men should serve him
- 21:10Speaker 1: who dwell upon the face thereof, And that it was
- 21:13Speaker 1: the place of the new Jerusalem, which should come down
- 21:16Speaker 1: out of Heaven, and the holy sanctuary of the Lord. Behold,
- 21:21Speaker 1: ether saw the days of Christ, and he spake concerning
- 21:24Speaker 1: a new Jerusalem upon this land. And he spake also
- 21:27Speaker 1: concerning the House of Israel and the Jerusalem from whence
- 21:31Speaker 1: Lehigh should come. After it should be destroyed, it should
- 21:35Speaker 1: be built up again a holy city unto the Lord.
- 21:38Speaker 1: Wherefore it could not be a new Jerusalem, for it
- 21:41Speaker 1: had been in a time of old. But it should
- 21:43Speaker 1: be built up again and become a holy city of
- 21:46Speaker 1: the Lord. And it should be built unto the House
- 21:49Speaker 1: of Israel. And that a new Jerusalem should be built
- 21:52Speaker 1: upon this land unto the remnant of the Seed of Joseph,
- 21:56Speaker 1: for which things there has been a type. For as
- 22:00Speaker 1: Joseph brought his father down into the land of Egypt,
- 22:04Speaker 1: even so he died there. Wherefore the Lord brought a
- 22:08Speaker 1: remnant of the seed of Joseph out of the land
- 22:10Speaker 1: of Jerusalem, that he might be merciful, and to the
- 22:13Speaker 1: seed of Joseph, that they should perish, not, even as
- 22:17Speaker 1: he was merciful unto the father of Joseph, that he
- 22:20Speaker 1: should perish. Not. Wherefore the remnant of the House of
- 22:23Speaker 1: Joseph shall be built upon this land, and it shall
- 22:26Speaker 1: be a land of their inheritance. And they shall build
- 22:29Speaker 1: up a holy city unto the Lord, like unto the
- 22:32Speaker 1: Jerusalem of old. And they shall no more be confounded
- 22:36Speaker 1: until the end come, when the earth shall pass away,
- 22:39Speaker 1: and there shall be a new Heaven and a new Earth,
- 22:43Speaker 1: and they shall be like unto the Old, save the
- 22:45Speaker 1: Old have passed away, and all things have become new.
- 22:49Speaker 1: And then cometh the New Jerusalem. And blest are they
- 22:52Speaker 1: who dwell therein, For it is they whose garments are
- 22:56Speaker 1: white through the blood of the Lamb. And they are
- 22:59Speaker 1: they who are numbered among the remnant of the Seat
- 23:01Speaker 1: of Joseph, who were of the House of Israel. And
- 23:05Speaker 1: then also cometh the Jerusalem of Old, and the inhabitants
- 23:08Speaker 1: thereof Blessed are they, for they have been washed in
- 23:11Speaker 1: the blood of the Lamb. And they are they who
- 23:13Speaker 1: were scattered and gathered in from the four quarters of
- 23:16Speaker 1: the earth and from the north countries, and are partakers
- 23:20Speaker 1: of the fulfilling of the covenant which God made with
- 23:22Speaker 1: their father Abraham. And when these things come, bringeth to
- 23:26Speaker 1: pass the scripture which saith. There are they who were first,
- 23:30Speaker 1: who shall be last. And there are they who were last,
- 23:33Speaker 1: who shall be first. And I was about to write more,
- 23:37Speaker 1: but I am forbidden. But great and marvelous were the
- 23:40Speaker 1: prophecies of ether. But they esteemed him as not and
- 23:44Speaker 1: cast him out. And he hid himself in the cavity
- 23:47Speaker 1: of a rock by day, and by night he went forth,
- 23:50Speaker 1: viewing the things which should come upon the people. And
- 23:53Speaker 1: as he dwelt in the cavity of a rock, he
- 23:55Speaker 1: made the remainder of his record, viewing the destructions which
- 23:58Speaker 1: came upon the people by night. And it came to
- 24:02Speaker 1: pass that in that same year in which he was
- 24:04Speaker 1: cast out from among the people, there began to be
- 24:07Speaker 1: a great war among the people. For there were many
- 24:09Speaker 1: who rose up, who were mighty men, and sought to
- 24:12Speaker 1: destroy Kriantomer by their secret plans of wickedness, of which
- 24:17Speaker 1: hath been spoken. And now Koreantomer, having studied himself in
- 24:21Speaker 1: all the arts of war and all the cunning of
- 24:24Speaker 1: the world, wherefore he gave battle unto them who sought
- 24:27Speaker 1: to destroy him. But he repented not neither his fair
- 24:32Speaker 1: sons nor daughters, neither the fair sons and daughters of Kohor,
- 24:36Speaker 1: neither the fair sons and daughters of Korihor. And in
- 24:40Speaker 1: fine there were none of the fair sons and daughters
- 24:43Speaker 1: upon the face of the whole earth who repented of
- 24:45Speaker 1: their sins. Wherefore it came to pass that in the
- 24:49Speaker 1: first year that Ether dwelt in the cavity of a rock,
- 24:52Speaker 1: there were many people who were slain by the sword
- 24:55Speaker 1: of those secret combinations fighting against Koreantomer that they might
- 24:59Speaker 1: obtain the kingdom. And it came to pass that the
- 25:02Speaker 1: sons of Coriantomer fought much and bled much. And in
- 25:06Speaker 1: the second year the word of the Lord came to
- 25:09Speaker 1: Ether that he should go and prophesy unto Coriantomer, that
- 25:12Speaker 1: if he would repent and all his household, the Lord
- 25:15Speaker 1: would give unto him his kingdom and spare the people.
- 25:19Speaker 1: Otherwise they should be destroyed, and all his household save
- 25:23Speaker 1: it were himself, and he should only live to see
- 25:27Speaker 1: the fulfilling of the prophecies which had been spoken concerning
- 25:30Speaker 1: another people receiving the land for their inheritance, and Coriantomer
- 25:34Speaker 1: should receive a burial by them, and every soul should
- 25:37Speaker 1: be destroyed save it were Choriantomer. And it came to
- 25:41Speaker 1: pass that Koreantomer repented not neither his household, neither the people,
- 25:46Speaker 1: and the wars ceased not, and they sought to kill Ether,
- 25:50Speaker 1: but he fled from before them and hid again in
- 25:53Speaker 1: the cavity of the rock. And it came to pass
- 25:56Speaker 1: that there arose up Shrid, and he also gave battle
- 25:59Speaker 1: unto Koreantema, and he did beat him insomuch that in
- 26:02Speaker 1: the third year he did bring him into captivity. And
- 26:06Speaker 1: the son of Kriantemer, in the fourth year, did beat
- 26:09Speaker 1: Shard and did obtain the kingdom again unto their father.
- 26:13Speaker 1: Now there began to be a war upon all the
- 26:15Speaker 1: face of the land, every man with his band, fighting
- 26:18Speaker 1: for that which he desired. And there were robbers and
- 26:21Speaker 1: in fine all manner of wickedness upon all the face
- 26:24Speaker 1: of the land. And it came to pass that Kriantimer
- 26:27Speaker 1: was exceedingly angry with Shared, and he went against him
- 26:30Speaker 1: with his armies to battle. And they did meet in
- 26:33Speaker 1: great anger, and they did meet in the valley of Gilgal,
- 26:37Speaker 1: and the battle became exceedingly sore, and it came to
- 26:40Speaker 1: pass that Shard fought against him for the space of
- 26:43Speaker 1: three days, and it came to pass that Korantemer beat
- 26:47Speaker 1: him and did pursue him until he came to the
- 26:49Speaker 1: plains of Heshlon, And it came to pass that Shard
- 26:52Speaker 1: gave him battle again upon the plains, and behold, he
- 26:56Speaker 1: did beat Kriantemer and drove him back again to the
- 26:59Speaker 1: valley of Guildelgall. And Coriantomer gave shared battle again in
- 27:02Speaker 1: the valley of Gilgal, in which he beat Shard and
- 27:05Speaker 1: slew him, and Shrid wounded Coriantemer in his thigh, that
- 27:10Speaker 1: he did not go to battle again for the space
- 27:13Speaker 1: of two years, in which time all the people upon
- 27:16Speaker 1: the face of the land were shedding blood, and there
- 27:19Speaker 1: was none to restrain them. And of Ether Chapters ten
- 27:24Speaker 1: through thirteen,
