- 0:10Speaker 1: Welcome to Girls Gone Hallmark, a Hallmark review podcast. I'm
- 0:13Speaker 1: Megan and I'm a longtime Hallmark fan. I'm Wendy. I'm
- 0:15Speaker 1: a former Homemark hater. We are back to discuss the
- 0:19Speaker 1: season premiere of The Way Home, season four, episode one,
- 0:23Speaker 1: which originally premiered on the Hallmark Channel on Sunday, April nineteenth,
- 0:28Speaker 1: and is currently available to stream on Hallmark Plus. We're back, Wendy,
- 0:33Speaker 1: we are back. I have a mixed feelings about it. Oh,
- 0:37Speaker 1: we talked about it before. I don't want this show
- 0:39Speaker 1: to end. No, I don't want the show to end either,
- 0:40Speaker 1: and having it back, we just talked about another show
- 0:44Speaker 1: where I was like, Oh, it was like my old
- 0:45Speaker 1: friends having them back. I mean I was instantly emotional
- 0:48Speaker 1: in scenes in this episode. Were you. We'll get into
- 0:51Speaker 1: it as a reminder, last year, y'all showed up in
- 0:54Speaker 1: a big way for us in our Way Home recaps
- 0:59Speaker 1: with our listener mail bag episode Yes So Fun. We
- 1:03Speaker 1: had so much feedback that we were doing weekly listener
- 1:05Speaker 1: mail bag episodes and so we'd love to continue that.
- 1:08Speaker 1: The best way to reach us is via email. Hello
- 1:11Speaker 1: at Girlsgone Hallmark dot com. You can also leave us
- 1:13Speaker 1: a voice message nine four nine three two nine eight
- 1:17Speaker 1: zero nine zero with any thoughts you have on these episodes, theories, questions, feedback.
- 1:24Speaker 1: We'd love to hear it all. Yeah, I love it.
- 1:26Speaker 1: Those are such fun to record. I agree, And they
- 1:28Speaker 1: really give me thinking too about things I haven't thought
- 1:31Speaker 1: about and maybe that is a possibility or this way
- 1:35Speaker 1: or whatever. You know. I love it, love it. It
- 1:37Speaker 1: has been a full year since we've seen an episode
- 1:41Speaker 1: of the Way Home. Really, yes, because it started in January. Oh,
- 1:45Speaker 1: you're right, So you and I had said I'm going
- 1:50Speaker 1: to do a full deep dive rewatch. I did not,
- 1:53Speaker 1: and then life got in the way. I didn't either
- 1:56Speaker 1: best laid plans. But I do think it's important that
- 2:00Speaker 1: we start with a little bit of a recup of
- 2:02Speaker 1: where we left off in season three, because they will
- 2:05Speaker 1: no pun intended drop us into the deep end in
- 2:07Speaker 1: this first episode. Yeah, I texted Megan. I was like,
- 2:10Speaker 1: I'm so lost, what is happening here? It was fast
- 2:15Speaker 1: and furious. This is mon series that you can pick
- 2:17Speaker 1: up in season four. Nope, you'll have no idea what's
- 2:20Speaker 1: going on? Who are these people? What are they doing?
- 2:22Speaker 1: Why is Elliott sad? Yeah? So let's run over the
- 2:26Speaker 1: big plot points from the finale. Okay, let's start with
- 2:30Speaker 1: the biggest one of all, the horse No, just kidding,
- 2:36Speaker 1: I'm kitty if you know, you know, the Colton reveal. Yes,
- 2:41Speaker 1: Colton learns who Alice is. Colton learns that Jacob comes home.
- 2:46Speaker 1: Alice and Colton have a beautiful moment on the banks
- 2:50Speaker 1: of the pond. You're telling me like I've heard it
- 2:53Speaker 1: for the first time, Like no, meaning, I'm receiving it
- 2:56Speaker 1: like I've heard it for the first time. You're looking
- 2:58Speaker 1: at me, and I was like, am I wrong? You know,
- 3:00Speaker 1: I'm like, you could be wrong. There're a lot and
- 3:03Speaker 1: I think it's important for viewers of this show because
- 3:07Speaker 1: it's been a year. This is the problem when it's
- 3:08Speaker 1: been a year. You and I watched this show, talked
- 3:12Speaker 1: about this show, recorded feedback on viewers every single week.
- 3:16Speaker 1: And still I'm reading this and I'm going, oh yeah,
- 3:18Speaker 1: oh yeah, oh yeah. So that was the emotional core
- 3:24Speaker 1: of the show. We also, you know, it's so healing
- 3:30Speaker 1: in that moment for Colton to learn these things that
- 3:36Speaker 1: Jacob does come home, even though Colton won't be there
- 3:39Speaker 1: to see it, that he got a chance to meet
- 3:42Speaker 1: and spend time with and get to know his granddaughter.
- 3:45Speaker 1: I just had an epiphany. We're not going to see
- 3:47Speaker 1: Colton at all this season. I think they have closed
- 3:50Speaker 1: a chapter on that. I think so too. We do
- 3:53Speaker 1: not see him in this episode. Yeah, we see a
- 3:55Speaker 1: lot of young Coulton. Hmm. That bums me out. I know.
- 3:59Speaker 1: I love Jefferson Brown so much. I do feel like
- 4:02Speaker 1: we closed the door on the Jefferson Brown of it
- 4:04Speaker 1: all in this final episode of season three. That's so emotional.
- 4:09Speaker 1: I cried when I watched it. I cried when we
- 4:10Speaker 1: talked about it. I get chills talking about it. But
- 4:13Speaker 1: when he says the road we're on leads to you, Alice,
- 4:16Speaker 1: it's just the loveliest, most wonderful, warm. As much as
- 4:20Speaker 1: I would have hated if this season had ended, it
- 4:23Speaker 1: might have been enough. And season three, if YE ended
- 4:25Speaker 1: it there, yeah, it might have been enough. Dell finally
- 4:29Speaker 1: time travels in this right, so she gets to go
- 4:32Speaker 1: back and see her own wedding as she hears Colton's
- 4:36Speaker 1: demo tape. There's been so many secrets between the two
- 4:39Speaker 1: of them, big and small, and it kind of feels
- 4:43Speaker 1: like Dell is a little bit at peace at the
- 4:46Speaker 1: time travel of it, Like she can kind of understand
- 4:50Speaker 1: how it's appealing to her daughter and granddaughter because there
- 4:53Speaker 1: was a time when she said, Alice, don't talk to
- 4:56Speaker 1: me about this. Yeah, she was real close to leave
- 4:58Speaker 1: the past in the past. I don't want to revisit
- 5:01Speaker 1: all of this. Yeah. Well, now I wonder if if
- 5:04Speaker 1: Dell has you know, not closed the chapter on Colton,
- 5:09Speaker 1: but is ready to move on now she's healed. Yeah, yeah,
- 5:14Speaker 1: what else? We find the clock in the wall? Yeah,
- 5:17Speaker 1: do you remember? Do you remember last season? We're like,
- 5:20Speaker 1: because didn't they like find a piece of it and
- 5:22Speaker 1: we're like, what is that piece? What does that go to?
- 5:25Speaker 1: You know? We're like, is this gonna unlock the the
- 5:28Speaker 1: ability to jump forward? Yes? Oh my god, put your
- 5:34Speaker 1: clown suits on. Seriously, we sound crazy. Put a tenfoil
- 5:37Speaker 1: hat on me. My goodness. There is an inscription on
- 5:40Speaker 1: the clock that says time passed and time future and
- 5:43Speaker 1: in between is the still point of now find me there.
- 5:47Speaker 1: The metal piece is a pendulum. It's not a key,
- 5:51Speaker 1: right right. That inscription is a ts Eliott quote. We're like,
- 5:55Speaker 1: what is the clock mean? What does the clock mean?
- 5:57Speaker 1: Season three opened with the baby on the banks of
- 5:59Speaker 1: the Ripo. We spent the entire season saying who baby, Yeah,
- 6:03Speaker 1: is the baby Casey is Jacob the parent? Who's that baby? Well,
- 6:07Speaker 1: the baby's Elliott. The person who left Elliott on the
- 6:10Speaker 1: banks of the river was in fact his mother. His
- 6:12Speaker 1: mother didn't leave in the way that Elliott believed. My
- 6:17Speaker 1: eyes are shifting from side to side because her name
- 6:20Speaker 1: is Tessa, and then we have t s Elliott. I'm
- 6:24Speaker 1: sure there's no correlation there, guys, but this is what
- 6:27Speaker 1: happens when I watch this show. I'm trying to pick
- 6:29Speaker 1: up on every freaking Easter egg and it drives me
- 6:32Speaker 1: bonkers for ten episodes. Yeah, and some of it matters
- 6:36Speaker 1: and some of it doesn't. The horse, the horse, just wait,
- 6:39Speaker 1: I got a little I got a little tidbit for
- 6:42Speaker 1: you later on. I can't wait. Okay, she jumps, Tessa
- 6:46Speaker 1: jumps with a Landry because only Landry's can time travel
- 6:49Speaker 1: via pon. We don't know who that person is. The
- 6:52Speaker 1: baby is delivered by someone in season three, we don't
- 6:55Speaker 1: know who it is to young Dell and Colton. Right.
- 6:59Speaker 1: That episode actually ends in the present day with Sam
- 7:03Speaker 1: standing on the banks of the pond, calling Dell saying
- 7:05Speaker 1: everything's going to be okay, and she says, how do
- 7:08Speaker 1: you know? And he says, I just do. And that's
- 7:11Speaker 1: when it like pulls back and you see him on
- 7:12Speaker 1: the pond and you think, well, he must time travel
- 7:15Speaker 1: if he knows. What does Sam know? I mean, we've
- 7:17Speaker 1: known something's going on with Sam, yeah, but we just
- 7:19Speaker 1: don't know what it is. The whole time Sam has
- 7:21Speaker 1: been sus, the entire Sam's been sus. I will say
- 7:26Speaker 1: no clarity on Sam in this first episode. I have
- 7:30Speaker 1: some prediction. Oh okay. Cat and Elliott again. A common
- 7:35Speaker 1: theme of season three was Tomcat Calliot. If you'll recall
- 7:40Speaker 1: someone's threatened, someone threatened to sue us over an Instagram ple,
- 7:48Speaker 1: y'all should see my face. I do. I do miss
- 7:51Speaker 1: the Tomcat of it all. But in this episode, Cat
- 7:54Speaker 1: and Elliott are in a good place and they kind
- 7:56Speaker 1: of agree almost to start over, to start fresh, to
- 7:59Speaker 1: let go of their perceptions of each other from the past.
- 8:02Speaker 1: Elliot's like, I've been wanting you to be this vision
- 8:06Speaker 1: of who I've seen my entire life, and now I
- 8:08Speaker 1: need to come to know you as you are, and
- 8:11Speaker 1: Kat sees that he has the Augustine ring, Susanna's ring,
- 8:15Speaker 1: and there's a hint like you know in due time,
- 8:18Speaker 1: the proposal is coming in due time. Finally, we have Casey,
- 8:22Speaker 1: who we learn as K period C period. We do
- 8:25Speaker 1: not learn what that stands for. They're a Goodwin. We
- 8:28Speaker 1: do learn that Casey is not the child of Alice.
- 8:31Speaker 1: Alice confronts her, It's like, who are you? Are you
- 8:34Speaker 1: my child? I don't remember that detail, like they're kind
- 8:37Speaker 1: of passing. I remember the scene, but I don't remember
- 8:40Speaker 1: the detail, like does Casey say Casey says no, does
- 8:44Speaker 1: not say who they are or how they're related. Okay,
- 8:47Speaker 1: so that's still a mystery, still a mystery. In that interaction,
- 8:52Speaker 1: there's a wild scene that's almost too rushed. Casey shows
- 8:55Speaker 1: up at the farmhouse. She shows up with Susanna's original
- 8:59Speaker 1: will and apparently Lingermore was originally supposed to be left
- 9:01Speaker 1: to the Landryes. The Goodwin's had illegally changed it, and
- 9:05Speaker 1: this is the leverage that they're going to use to
- 9:09Speaker 1: keep the land Goodwin good Wine from sending Jacob to prison.
- 9:13Speaker 1: Right for Arson, Casey also does slip and mentioned Dell's letters.
- 9:18Speaker 1: They know about the letters that Dell has been receiving,
- 9:21Speaker 1: but we don't know what they know or how they're
- 9:24Speaker 1: involved in those letters, right, Yeah. The line between Alice
- 9:28Speaker 1: and Casey is I'm your mom, Max Goodwin is your dad,
- 9:30Speaker 1: and Casey goes nope, and then that's that's all right,
- 9:34Speaker 1: because I had forgotten that Alice was spinning out thinking
- 9:36Speaker 1: that she ended up with mat Max. Yeah, okay. In
- 9:41Speaker 1: this episode, there's also some insinuation that perhaps Danny was
- 9:47Speaker 1: involved in sending the letters to Dell, because we see
- 9:51Speaker 1: a typewriter at Danny's house and you know our We're like,
- 9:54Speaker 1: there's a day. Yeah. Again, we don't know what this means,
- 9:59Speaker 1: so there are still many many questions. At the end
- 10:02Speaker 1: of season three, Jacob is left, what's going on there?
- 10:06Speaker 1: Sam is hiding something. We still don't know who Casey is,
- 10:10Speaker 1: where they're from. We don't know for sure the providence
- 10:14Speaker 1: of the letters Todell, we don't know what lie necessarily
- 10:17Speaker 1: they're talking about. We assume it's about Jacob, but we
- 10:20Speaker 1: don't one hundred percent know that Fern's whole cryptic sixty
- 10:24Speaker 1: five there they thrive sixty five and twenty five. What's
- 10:27Speaker 1: going on there? Where's Elliott's mom? Who did Elliott's mom
- 10:31Speaker 1: jump with that? Alice, Noah and Max love triangle of
- 10:35Speaker 1: it all? And again the horse. Until I have confirmation
- 10:41Speaker 1: that there is nothing to do with the horse, I
- 10:43Speaker 1: will ride on. Let's take a book break, and we
- 10:46Speaker 1: will come back to discuss Season four, Episode one, show
- 10:50Speaker 1: Me The Way to Go Home? Are you ready to
- 11:01Speaker 1: discuss season four Episode one, show Me the Way Home? Honey? Yeah?
- 11:05Speaker 1: You want a synopsis? Hit me with the details or
- 11:10Speaker 1: lock thereof new journeys and new revelations await the Landry
- 11:14Speaker 1: family across generations and time. That's it. That's all you got.
- 11:18Speaker 1: We will not be doing news and notes in this episode,
- 11:21Speaker 1: but if you like full details, we run it down
- 11:23Speaker 1: many times. You can find them in our show notes
- 11:25Speaker 1: for this episode at Girls Gone Hallmark dot com. You
- 11:27Speaker 1: can click straight through in the podcast player that you
- 11:30Speaker 1: are currently listening in. Why don't you hit me with
- 11:32Speaker 1: the first impression of this episode? I think we're going
- 11:34Speaker 1: to be easy into season four, but we've damaged to
- 11:37Speaker 1: Elliott before the opening credits. Poor Elliott really goes through
- 11:40Speaker 1: it in this episode. My first impression is I felt
- 11:44Speaker 1: much like Elliott and the Ferns all tangled up throughout
- 11:48Speaker 1: this entire episode. I mean, Elliott can't catch a break
- 11:51Speaker 1: in this episode. The pawn walk take me in. Sorry,
- 11:55Speaker 1: I'm no Shade. Evan Williams, no shade. I just thought
- 11:59Speaker 1: that was like so emotional at the end, you know,
- 12:01Speaker 1: he's he was so like holding off his mom the
- 12:04Speaker 1: and you know, I don't want I don't want anything
- 12:06Speaker 1: to do with it. I don't want anything to do
- 12:07Speaker 1: with it. And then finally when he accepts and he
- 12:09Speaker 1: tries to go, and he's like, damn it, the pond
- 12:12Speaker 1: is not going to take you where you want to go.
- 12:14Speaker 1: So I think we need to talk about I think
- 12:16Speaker 1: those first impressions are if you haven't watched this episode,
- 12:20Speaker 1: please know going into this this episode is a lot
- 12:24Speaker 1: and I think it's asking a lot of the viewers.
- 12:26Speaker 1: This is not a casual watching show. This is a
- 12:29Speaker 1: phone's down, eyes up, pay attention. And I think we
- 12:33Speaker 1: just spent eleven minutes going over the details of the
- 12:38Speaker 1: season finale. There's so much we're still dealing with coming
- 12:43Speaker 1: into this episode, and they just don't miss a beat,
- 12:47Speaker 1: not at all. Let me ask you. When this episode opens,
- 12:52Speaker 1: we get text on the screen. This, I feel like
- 12:55Speaker 1: the first time we've gotten text on the screen to
- 12:58Speaker 1: tell us where in time we're at. Ohs like New
- 13:01Speaker 1: Brunswick eighteen twenty four or whatever where you see the
- 13:04Speaker 1: White Witch running through I don't remember. Wow, maybe you
- 13:08Speaker 1: probably are right, but I never I've never seen a
- 13:11Speaker 1: say the future, ever been to the future before. I
- 13:14Speaker 1: thought they couldn't travel to the future. What. Wait, that's
- 13:21Speaker 1: a new revelation. I know. Did anybody else pick up
- 13:25Speaker 1: on that? I know there's a hand thrusting into the pond.
- 13:30Speaker 1: And my notes are like, is a cat? It's Kat,
- 13:32Speaker 1: And we hear Kat say I wish he was here
- 13:35Speaker 1: for this. Oh, my notes say I wish she was
- 13:39Speaker 1: here for this. Oh. I listened twice, and you could
- 13:43Speaker 1: be correct. I did not have captions for this because
- 13:46Speaker 1: I watched on a screener the same. So let's just know.
- 13:51Speaker 1: But I think Dell says he's with us in spirit.
- 13:54Speaker 1: Let's let's pull it out. Let's do it. Let's pull
- 13:58Speaker 1: it up and see. Because I assumed that they were
- 14:01Speaker 1: talking about Tessa. Oh, I thought they were talking about Jacob.
- 14:06Speaker 1: Oh it is he? Who are they talking about? Colton
- 14:15Speaker 1: Jacob Elliott who don't know. Wow, look this, there's so
- 14:20Speaker 1: much about this. There's so much about this first episode
- 14:23Speaker 1: that follows the formula of that first episode. Every first
- 14:28Speaker 1: episode of every season has launched a mystery that we
- 14:30Speaker 1: have to solve. Who's the white Witch? Who's the baby
- 14:33Speaker 1: in the basket? This is once again where are they?
- 14:35Speaker 1: Who is the heat? What is the day? Because again
- 14:39Speaker 1: Alice says, come on, it's almost time for the ideas
- 14:42Speaker 1: and today's going to be the best day. But they
- 14:45Speaker 1: all look like their present day selves. We see lanterns
- 14:49Speaker 1: strung down near the jumping point in the pond. Yeah,
- 14:52Speaker 1: that's a first Yeah, I was like, why are we
- 14:54Speaker 1: decorated all the way down to here? Coming from I
- 14:57Speaker 1: don't know, I don't know. That's kind of our cold open. Wow,
- 15:03Speaker 1: it really has me thinking, now there are many questions intentionally, Okay,
- 15:07Speaker 1: the next thing we have, they're in the present, present
- 15:11Speaker 1: time and we hear Kat in a voice over telling
- 15:14Speaker 1: Elliott that maybe his mom isn't really gone, but she's
- 15:16Speaker 1: time traveling. This must have been a reference to a
- 15:19Speaker 1: conversation last season, don't you think. Yeah, at the end
- 15:22Speaker 1: of the season, right, that was the whole Yeah, Okay,
- 15:25Speaker 1: so She's references the clock and it's message and Elliott's
- 15:31Speaker 1: mom's desire to be found by Elliott. And they're all
- 15:33Speaker 1: getting ready to jump in, and then who's lurking in
- 15:35Speaker 1: the background. Sam, It's kind of shaking his head. I
- 15:39Speaker 1: thought a little bit like, oh, I just saw like
- 15:42Speaker 1: a little like what are these bozos doing? That kind
- 15:45Speaker 1: of vibe? I thought, or maybe like what do you Yeah,
- 15:49Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't I don't know. And then
- 15:52Speaker 1: they jump, and you know, they're under the water, and
- 15:55Speaker 1: that's when you can hear like baby crying and all
- 15:57Speaker 1: kinds of like voices and whatever. Then we get a
- 16:00Speaker 1: flashback scene to the baby on the bank and the
- 16:03Speaker 1: young couple jumping. So now we are to assume that
- 16:06Speaker 1: the young couple is Elliott's mom, Tessa and a Landry.
- 16:11Speaker 1: The question is, who's the Landry with her? Right? Is
- 16:13Speaker 1: it Sam? Is Sam Colton's brother Griffin? Yeah? I don't know.
- 16:18Speaker 1: Have you ever heard about Griffin before we knew about
- 16:20Speaker 1: him last season? Because we kept saying, where's Colton's brother?
- 16:23Speaker 1: I don't remember. There was some theory because don't you
- 16:28Speaker 1: remember Brion Heldman saying, yeah, dell'sman mackint on your brother
- 16:31Speaker 1: the whole time only. Yeah, that's right. Can you imagine
- 16:38Speaker 1: you're Elliott, you come through the pond, there's a baby
- 16:41Speaker 1: on the banks of the pond, and you're like, that's me.
- 16:43Speaker 1: She just left me here. Yeah, that's pretty she just
- 16:46Speaker 1: left me. It would be real hard to take. Yeah,
- 16:50Speaker 1: but we don't know what Tessa's motivation was. I don't
- 16:55Speaker 1: think she was a band. Was she abandoning him? What's that?
- 16:58Speaker 1: Let her say, take care of him? Basically? Okay, Well,
- 17:03Speaker 1: whoever that Landry was that was jumping with her was
- 17:05Speaker 1: probably like, somebody's gonna come along and find this baby.
- 17:07Speaker 1: It's gonna be fine, they hope. Come on, this is
- 17:11Speaker 1: the portal. Somebody's gonna come by here any minute. This
- 17:14Speaker 1: baby will be fine. Here. It's a bus every fifteen
- 17:18Speaker 1: minutes through this pond. I don't know why Elliott's like
- 17:20Speaker 1: so distraught because he lived a life. He didn't He
- 17:25Speaker 1: wasn't left there to die. He lived his story is okay, yes,
- 17:31Speaker 1: so he's like, she love for me to sit for
- 17:33Speaker 1: myself here. Now, you watch Apolla thirteen, you know those
- 17:36Speaker 1: astronauts live and still it's very tense when you think
- 17:39Speaker 1: he assuming got a problem. Yeah, okay, I think Elliot's
- 17:42Speaker 1: just going to continue to butt me this season. Sorry,
- 17:46Speaker 1: don't send your emails. We learned that Cat's the one,
- 17:50Speaker 1: you know. They do try and take the baby back
- 17:52Speaker 1: to Elliot's dad he's gone, which makes Elliott's spiral more.
- 17:55Speaker 1: He's like, my dad was gone on a work trip,
- 17:57Speaker 1: and then my mom left, like she loved me, with
- 18:01Speaker 1: nobody to adult me, adult me, supervise me, take care
- 18:06Speaker 1: of me, parents me, and they drop him at the
- 18:08Speaker 1: Landry Farmhouse and Elliott's like they did anyone seem surprised.
- 18:14Speaker 1: You can't e your Elliott jeez? All right, then I'm
- 18:20Speaker 1: roody for Elliott and Kat. Well then unless Tom comes back?
- 18:24Speaker 1: Then where Tom? Is that his name? Thomas? Yeah? At
- 18:28Speaker 1: the end of season three, we learned that Thomas didn't die.
- 18:31Speaker 1: Cat thought he died. He doesn't die, and Ellie it's like,
- 18:33Speaker 1: oh no, and she's like, it's okay, I choose you.
- 18:36Speaker 1: I think we're moving on. I My prediction is Thomas
- 18:39Speaker 1: does not factor into season four. You think that chapter
- 18:41Speaker 1: is closed too? No, Christopher Holden read no, Jefferson Brown,
- 18:46Speaker 1: and we jump forward seven months and to me that's
- 18:48Speaker 1: when this episode kind of starts. Okay, I have a
- 18:51Speaker 1: question before we get into that part of this episode.
- 18:54Speaker 1: Because this show was canceled or the writers were told
- 19:00Speaker 1: this show was not going to continue after season four
- 19:02Speaker 1: while they were filming this season, do we feel like
- 19:06Speaker 1: these scenes might have been like added in to complete
- 19:10Speaker 1: the circle on some of these stories. I would like
- 19:13Speaker 1: to know the details. My understanding from people who are
- 19:17Speaker 1: deep divers in the Facebook groups is that it's really
- 19:20Speaker 1: only the final two episodes that were adjusted to account
- 19:23Speaker 1: for it. Got it. I don't claim that to be
- 19:26Speaker 1: a fact. That is simply my understanding. Got it. So
- 19:29Speaker 1: we're going to break down the rest of this episode
- 19:31Speaker 1: in terms of some of the main plot points we
- 19:33Speaker 1: have running as opposed to doing it chronologically. First, we
- 19:36Speaker 1: got Alice, and Alice is graduating Fro High School and
- 19:41Speaker 1: she's maybe in a love triangle. A lot about this
- 19:44Speaker 1: episode is reminiscent of episode one. We have her in
- 19:47Speaker 1: a field writing a song. Kay's like, oh, hello, my
- 19:51Speaker 1: little songwriter. Yeah, I don't care about any of that stuff. Really,
- 19:54Speaker 1: do you not think there's like maybe something more to
- 19:57Speaker 1: the fact that she wasn't ready to perform, like she
- 20:01Speaker 1: leaned on Colton song. Oh interesting, or is it simply
- 20:05Speaker 1: that you know because max is max is pushing her.
- 20:11Speaker 1: Let's rewind a little bit. The kids are planning a fundraiser,
- 20:15Speaker 1: some sort of auction to raise money as like their
- 20:17Speaker 1: senior gift to the high school. Right, And as Kat
- 20:19Speaker 1: and Alice are driving there, did you happen to hear
- 20:22Speaker 1: the song that plays in the car that they sing
- 20:25Speaker 1: along with that's from season one, episode one, when they
- 20:30Speaker 1: arrive in Portavin. Oh really, I'm gonna be down by
- 20:33Speaker 1: the way. Yes, And I remember I am heartbroken by
- 20:37Speaker 1: your reaction because I thought that was a stunningly beautiful
- 20:41Speaker 1: scene when they sing together in this episode. Yeah, I
- 20:44Speaker 1: just was like, I thought they were giving too much.
- 20:47Speaker 1: It's a performatives go back to season one. It's a
- 20:51Speaker 1: strong callback to season one. Okay, like that song because
- 20:55Speaker 1: I did actually watch season one episode one. That's why
- 20:57Speaker 1: I recognized got it the song God? And in that
- 21:01Speaker 1: Kat's like, there's a whole other thing well that we'll
- 21:04Speaker 1: talk about. Kat's spinning out and Alice is like maybe
- 21:07Speaker 1: we're the complicated ones with our boyfriends, and Kat's like,
- 21:09Speaker 1: you got a good one. And I was like, who's
- 21:11Speaker 1: Alice's boyfriend? And she walks into the point and Max
- 21:15Speaker 1: and Noah are both standing there, and I was like,
- 21:17Speaker 1: who's it gonna be? Oh, I just assumed it was
- 21:20Speaker 1: gonna be Noah. It's Noah. Both of these dudes are
- 21:23Speaker 1: real cute. She and Max kiss last season. Yes, I
- 21:27Speaker 1: don't remember that. I'm sorry. That's why she thought Kesey
- 21:32Speaker 1: was her kid, right. I was actually kind of disappointed
- 21:34Speaker 1: that she was with Noah, Like Noah's really because I
- 21:37Speaker 1: think there's something between her and Max. Oh. I think
- 21:40Speaker 1: they'll get there eventually. I think they're more similar. I
- 21:43Speaker 1: think he's better for her. We see in this episode
- 21:47Speaker 1: Max is pushing her to be the very best she
- 21:50Speaker 1: can be because she says like, oh, Max helped me study,
- 21:53Speaker 1: and Noah supported me. Noah brought me French fries. And
- 21:58Speaker 1: we also see she calls Max. She's like, we're best friends. Yeah,
- 22:02Speaker 1: she does say best friends. You was my best friend. Yeah. Well,
- 22:06Speaker 1: I was like, oh, I feel like that's accelerated since
- 22:09Speaker 1: we last saw them. That friendship. And even Elliott is
- 22:12Speaker 1: like that poor kid, he loves her. Yeah, Elliot can
- 22:15Speaker 1: see from the outside perspective of like, oh, that's the
- 22:18Speaker 1: dude that's pining for her, and she has fallen for
- 22:21Speaker 1: the guy that is like her dad. Yes, so at
- 22:27Speaker 1: this fundraiser we get there. An Alice is supposed to
- 22:29Speaker 1: sing her original song, and just like season one, episode one,
- 22:32Speaker 1: she freezes on stage instead of running off, this time
- 22:36Speaker 1: she does sing one of her grandfather's songs, which is beautiful.
- 22:39Speaker 1: I love it when Sadie the Flames Note sings. Yeah,
- 22:42Speaker 1: she's got a great voice. It made me wonder, like,
- 22:45Speaker 1: why aren't they releasing this music. I have no idea
- 22:48Speaker 1: they should. But Max later is like, yo, you need
- 22:52Speaker 1: to believe in yourself, Like you got into this incredible school.
- 22:55Speaker 1: It's going to mean nothing if you can't stand on
- 22:57Speaker 1: your own two feet. Basically, she got into NYU. She's
- 23:02Speaker 1: going to tish the other. My question about all of this, though,
- 23:06Speaker 1: is Noah's physically missing throughout much of this episode. He
- 23:11Speaker 1: says like, oh, I'm so sorry, can't be there, and
- 23:12Speaker 1: then they FaceTime him at one point, what like he's
- 23:15Speaker 1: not even at her graduation. Yeah, he had a family reunion,
- 23:19Speaker 1: but what's going on there? Like, is this simply a
- 23:21Speaker 1: filming conflict and he couldn't be there? For like the
- 23:25Speaker 1: actor wasn't available. Why have Noah not physically present? Is
- 23:32Speaker 1: there a story reason or a logistical reason? I don't know.
- 23:36Speaker 1: That's a good question. Maybe they just want to put
- 23:38Speaker 1: more pressure on Max and Alice having a reason to
- 23:42Speaker 1: be together without Noah present. Because at all, I feel
- 23:48Speaker 1: like Noah's been a big question mark throughout all of this,
- 23:52Speaker 1: Like he kind of disappears a lot. Yeah, oh he's
- 23:55Speaker 1: a time traveler. Could you have met? No, he's not
- 23:59Speaker 1: a landry because be weird. So yeah, I don't know,
- 24:05Speaker 1: And I think we should talk about the Brady of
- 24:06Speaker 1: it all. Brady's here, He's kind of still a blowhard.
- 24:10Speaker 1: I know. It's nice though that her dad is present. Sure,
- 24:13Speaker 1: I mean he showed up for the big things. He's
- 24:15Speaker 1: like foot in the wheel. Oh yeah. It was a
- 24:18Speaker 1: real pissing contest between Brady and Elliott. Yeah, like I
- 24:21Speaker 1: arrest I kind of did love. You know. Brady's like, oh,
- 24:25Speaker 1: I'm so glad I could have worked hard to provide this,
- 24:26Speaker 1: and Ellie it's like, oh working hard at generational wealth. Yeah,
- 24:29Speaker 1: look funny they buy a car, dell Cat and Elliott
- 24:34Speaker 1: buy our car. But this is so stupid, Like it's
- 24:35Speaker 1: cute that they buy our a car. I thought the
- 24:37Speaker 1: same thing, and she's like, oh, it's the tie between
- 24:40Speaker 1: you know, your two favorite eras. That's cute, right. They
- 24:42Speaker 1: give her like the Boldwagen Beetle or whatever. Brady's like,
- 24:46Speaker 1: how's she gonna take a car to New York. She's like,
- 24:48Speaker 1: she's not gonna sit here. I'm like, why did you
- 24:50Speaker 1: buy her a car? And so keep it on the
- 24:51Speaker 1: farmhouse so stupid? She could drive it a winter break
- 24:53Speaker 1: in the Port Haven snow. We know the pond freezes. Yeah,
- 24:56Speaker 1: that's not exactly a four wheel drive on the country roads.
- 25:00Speaker 1: Maybe that car is going to be a new travel portal.
- 25:06Speaker 1: Yeah it is the horse. I don't know. Okay, yeah,
- 25:10Speaker 1: I thought that was kind of weird too. It's the
- 25:12Speaker 1: first thing I thought. I was like, why did you
- 25:13Speaker 1: buy a car? She's moving to NYC? Yeah, well, we
- 25:16Speaker 1: gotta go back. Let's talk about Cat and Elliott and
- 25:18Speaker 1: Tessa first. I want to talk about the Cat and
- 25:20Speaker 1: Elliot of at all. I get this sense by your
- 25:23Speaker 1: subtle reactions that you d gaf about the Cat and Elliott.
- 25:28Speaker 1: I'm not tied to their romance. It's like, okay, finely,
- 25:31Speaker 1: do you think it's not going to happen. No, I
- 25:34Speaker 1: think it's going to happen. Yeah, I just I'm not
- 25:37Speaker 1: emotionally invested in them as a couple because I found
- 25:42Speaker 1: Cat and Tom to be super believable, and I found
- 25:46Speaker 1: Cat and Susannah to be equally intriguing. I agree with
- 25:51Speaker 1: both of those points. I do. I think this show
- 25:55Speaker 1: is all in on Cat and Elliott's freaking out. She's like,
- 26:00Speaker 1: why hasn't he asked? But we know that Elliott's plan
- 26:03Speaker 1: is to ask at the end of summer, and I'm
- 26:06Speaker 1: sure Alice knows that. So she's just like, mom, chill,
- 26:09Speaker 1: chill out. Yeah, yeah, yeah, well Dell knows. So yeah.
- 26:12Speaker 1: It's funny because Kat was like pushing Elliott away and
- 26:16Speaker 1: now she's like, all right, I'm all in put a
- 26:18Speaker 1: ring on it. I'm not believable. I don't know. It's
- 26:21Speaker 1: been seven months at this point. We jump forward, I
- 26:23Speaker 1: don't know. I don't have to assume there's a wedding
- 26:25Speaker 1: at the end of the season. Oh my god, that's
- 26:26Speaker 1: how they're going to end a season. That's how this
- 26:29Speaker 1: series is going to end. As their wedding. We're going
- 26:31Speaker 1: to see a new time traveler looking on from the past,
- 26:33Speaker 1: and that they're going to leave this open ended thing
- 26:35Speaker 1: that they never got to wrap up. We learn they
- 26:39Speaker 1: were not supposed to be using the pond. In theory,
- 26:40Speaker 1: they have not been using the pond. Sorry, I just
- 26:42Speaker 1: had a thought. Didn't Herbie the love Bug traveled her time?
- 26:49Speaker 1: I don't know your pictures Alic's driving this book traveling
- 26:55Speaker 1: through the Wait? Am I wrong? I feel like I
- 26:58Speaker 1: feel like you're picturing Ron's magical car in Harry Potter
- 27:07Speaker 1: his flying car. Wait her we all love bug? Do
- 27:11Speaker 1: you remember her? Is this before your time? It's before
- 27:14Speaker 1: your time too. I don't think it flew. It appeared
- 27:17Speaker 1: to Oh it was before my time? I told you.
- 27:20Speaker 1: But did they travel through time with us? I did
- 27:23Speaker 1: Herbie the love Bug time travel? No? Okay, Ron show guys, okay,
- 27:30Speaker 1: but apparent according to you, it flew. And I'm picturing
- 27:34Speaker 1: Harry and Ron driving to Hogwarts. Yes, Ron's flying car. Okay.
- 27:38Speaker 1: They're not supposed to be time traveling. Elliot wants them
- 27:40Speaker 1: to let it go, and so in theory, they haven't
- 27:42Speaker 1: been using the pond. We discovered that Kat keeps trying
- 27:45Speaker 1: to jump and the Pond's not letting her. I'm sure
- 27:48Speaker 1: Kat's gonna do whatever she wants. Do you remember we
- 27:51Speaker 1: have talked for three seasons that you know. Do you
- 27:54Speaker 1: remember we were saying that cripple Yes, and her justification
- 28:03Speaker 1: is Fern told me I go back. She told like,
- 28:05Speaker 1: we hadn't met yet, and we had met before, and
- 28:09Speaker 1: she know, She's like, I know, I gotta I gotta
- 28:10Speaker 1: keep trying. I know, I go back. Elliott has a
- 28:13Speaker 1: weird dream. Yeah, I got Elliott looked real hot when
- 28:16Speaker 1: he woke up from this dream. And so the first
- 28:20Speaker 1: time I saw him in this perspective of him laying down,
- 28:23Speaker 1: I don't know what it was, I was like, oh, hello.
- 28:25Speaker 1: Also no glasses. Also no glasses. Yeah, I don't I
- 28:28Speaker 1: don't know. But yeah, he has this weird dream. He's
- 28:29Speaker 1: chasing presuming that's his mom, and she's running toward. He's
- 28:34Speaker 1: like stop stop, and then he has the sledgehammer and
- 28:38Speaker 1: is breaking it into the wall, like back to his
- 28:40Speaker 1: renovations on his house. Yes, to where he finds the clock, right,
- 28:45Speaker 1: and then he wakes up from the dream, and then
- 28:46Speaker 1: he sets the clock back up, like he pulls the
- 28:49Speaker 1: clock out of the drawer. This is not a dream anymore. Huh,
- 28:53Speaker 1: sets the clock back up, and then when the clock
- 28:56Speaker 1: hits eleven ten, because I watched that class, Oh, it
- 29:02Speaker 1: plays like an alarm a song. The song I'm not
- 29:06Speaker 1: familiar with. It's like a baby malady, isn't it. H Yeah,
- 29:10Speaker 1: And he turns and looks at it like it's the
- 29:12Speaker 1: first time he's ever heard it do that. So I
- 29:16Speaker 1: don't know what's happening there. No, I don't know what's
- 29:18Speaker 1: happening there either. But when he takes the clock out
- 29:22Speaker 1: of wherever he was keeping it, it's wrapped in a blanket.
- 29:24Speaker 1: The blanket that he found the clock in, that's all
- 29:27Speaker 1: the blanket he was wrapped in in a photo that
- 29:30Speaker 1: they'll later find. Yes, there's a whole time capsule element
- 29:34Speaker 1: we'll talk about in a minute, But as part of
- 29:36Speaker 1: Alice's time capsule, she finds a suitcase, and the suitcase
- 29:42Speaker 1: belonged to Tessa, and the suitcase had a photo of
- 29:44Speaker 1: Tessa and Elliott, the only photo Elliott has ever seen
- 29:47Speaker 1: them because his dad, being the monster that he is,
- 29:51Speaker 1: got rid of all of them, right, And that's when
- 29:54Speaker 1: he's like, oh, that's the same blank at the clock
- 29:56Speaker 1: was wrapped in the other thing. It clears up is
- 29:59Speaker 1: Kat was trying to make it case for Tessa being
- 30:01Speaker 1: the sixty five and twenty five for nonsense of it all,
- 30:04Speaker 1: My I just had to tap out all this math
- 30:07Speaker 1: that they were trying to no, and he's like, that
- 30:09Speaker 1: doesn't make sense. She wouldn't be the right age. It
- 30:10Speaker 1: doesn't make sense. They see her driver's license in the
- 30:14Speaker 1: suitcase and it confirms that he was wrong about her
- 30:17Speaker 1: birth year, and in fact, the sixty five and twenty
- 30:20Speaker 1: five math of at all maths out and so at
- 30:22Speaker 1: this point they're like, we gotta go, we gotta go
- 30:25Speaker 1: jump because of some more reasons we'll discuss in a minute.
- 30:27Speaker 1: And they jump, and this is when we get Elliott
- 30:30Speaker 1: left behind, sobbing onto Dell's shoulder. The pond wouldn't let
- 30:34Speaker 1: me go, and I did feel for Elliott in that moment.
- 30:37Speaker 1: It really is Yeah, I mean, either Tessa's gonna come
- 30:40Speaker 1: back or not. I mean we're gonna get Tessa, I
- 30:43Speaker 1: think eventually. All right, before we move on, can I
- 30:47Speaker 1: point out that after that scene, Elliot comes to Dell,
- 30:51Speaker 1: Dell consoles him. Then Dale goes into her room and
- 30:53Speaker 1: she pulls out a picture of nineteen seventy five Dell
- 30:57Speaker 1: with nineteen seventy five Colton and a woman who is
- 31:00Speaker 1: probably Tessa, and then that photo is ripped, like it's
- 31:04Speaker 1: the the other person in the photo is ripped, Yes,
- 31:08Speaker 1: that's right. Why one who's in the photo? We would
- 31:12Speaker 1: assume that maybe it would be Elliott's dad. Yeah, maybe
- 31:16Speaker 1: they just ripped it because he was a bad guy,
- 31:18Speaker 1: or maybe it's because Then the other thing is they
- 31:21Speaker 1: go to Dell and they're like, who could she have
- 31:23Speaker 1: jumped with? You knew her, who could she have jumped with?
- 31:25Speaker 1: And then Elliot's like, it could have been a lander
- 31:28Speaker 1: from any time. You may not have even known who
- 31:30Speaker 1: this person was. It could be Sam. It could be
- 31:34Speaker 1: Sam with Tessa in that picture. No, it could be
- 31:37Speaker 1: well maybe, but it could be Sam whom she jumped with.
- 31:40Speaker 1: Perhaps because I can't I keep coming back to like, oh,
- 31:44Speaker 1: maybe Sam is Elliott's dad, But no, we can't do that.
- 31:47Speaker 1: We can't go down and we're not going down that road. No,
- 31:50Speaker 1: I think Elliott's dad is Elliott's dad, because there would
- 31:52Speaker 1: be like Kat would be like cousins, No, no, no, no,
- 31:56Speaker 1: And then we got a count of this honestly is
- 32:02Speaker 1: my least favorite element of this episode, and it's the
- 32:05Speaker 1: time capsules. Why you say your least favorite, Well, I
- 32:09Speaker 1: thought that was kind of boring, but I think it's
- 32:10Speaker 1: an important purpose. Okay, Dell's like digging, digging, digging. There's
- 32:14Speaker 1: all these whole Eliot trips and balls, and she's like, oh,
- 32:16Speaker 1: I'm looking for something. She's looking for her time capsule
- 32:18Speaker 1: that she and Colton buried prior to the birth of
- 32:22Speaker 1: their first baby. It was originally meant to be opened
- 32:26Speaker 1: on Cat's graduation, but Cat bounced she and Dell were
- 32:29Speaker 1: not in a good place. Cat leavest to be with Brady.
- 32:32Speaker 1: All of this, I think the purpose of this is
- 32:36Speaker 1: to bring some resolution to Cat and Dell's relationship. Finally,
- 32:41Speaker 1: I wrote in my notes, look at that growth. Dell
- 32:44Speaker 1: accepts a lot of responsibility, Cat accepts her apology. Hopefully
- 32:50Speaker 1: we can move on from this. It's been three seasons
- 32:54Speaker 1: of them being at each other's throats and seeing a
- 32:56Speaker 1: little bit of forward progress. And then Dell has to
- 32:59Speaker 1: Dell and kind of, you know the Catherine of it all,
- 33:03Speaker 1: You know that tone that she gets. Tell me what
- 33:06Speaker 1: you thought about the time capsules? Well, we have the
- 33:09Speaker 1: time capsule, the scene where they're getting ready to bury
- 33:13Speaker 1: it and Grandma Fern comes running out and it's like,
- 33:16Speaker 1: you have a letter from your brother, and inside of
- 33:19Speaker 1: it is their wedding and invitation with a note on
- 33:23Speaker 1: the back that says like, hopefully I'll see you. And
- 33:25Speaker 1: then there was a pocket watch sure in there, and
- 33:28Speaker 1: Grandma Feren's like, oh, you should put it in the
- 33:31Speaker 1: time capsule, and Cole at this point is like, this
- 33:34Speaker 1: is for our future child. They won't even know who
- 33:37Speaker 1: my brother is, which I thought it was kind of
- 33:39Speaker 1: weird because why wouldn't their future child know who their
- 33:43Speaker 1: uncle is. Yeah, and I don't know if it was
- 33:47Speaker 1: just in reference because he and Griffin the brother don't
- 33:51Speaker 1: have much of a relationship. Yeah, Griffin's not physically there, right,
- 33:55Speaker 1: But then Cole says, okay, let's do it. Maybe maybe
- 33:59Speaker 1: we'll reconnect, and then that was the end of it.
- 34:02Speaker 1: And I thought, except we do see dell As holding
- 34:07Speaker 1: the pocket watch at the end. Do you think there's
- 34:10Speaker 1: a chance that it's like a Lockett style situation? There's
- 34:14Speaker 1: a photo in there, and she's gonna see young Sam. Oh.
- 34:16Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't know. Either I don't. I
- 34:19Speaker 1: don't know this. We don't know the significance of that.
- 34:20Speaker 1: Yet the clues are leading me to believe that Sam
- 34:24Speaker 1: is Griffin, Sam's name the brother. So, but I still
- 34:28Speaker 1: can't understand why, Like, nobody realizes that, nobody realizes this
- 34:34Speaker 1: is a small town. Nobody goes, pill looks a lot
- 34:37Speaker 1: like Colton the brother. Yeah, what's your name, Griffin, Samuel?
- 34:42Speaker 1: You go by Sam even I don't know is Griffin's
- 34:45Speaker 1: middle name Samuel. I have no idea. I'm just taking
- 34:50Speaker 1: you know. Yeah, what if they open it and there's
- 34:55Speaker 1: an inscription on the inside of the watch that says
- 34:57Speaker 1: Griffin Samuel Landry and she goes, so, Okay, I don't know.
- 35:06Speaker 1: That's all I have to say about the time capsule stuff,
- 35:09Speaker 1: though I agree like it fell a little bit too
- 35:11Speaker 1: on the nose in terms of what you would expect
- 35:15Speaker 1: through time travel. I mean, Alice writes her letter to
- 35:18Speaker 1: my future child, Dear little One, Dear Little which is
- 35:22Speaker 1: the same opening in the letter that Dell writes to
- 35:26Speaker 1: their future child, and is the same opening that Tessa
- 35:29Speaker 1: wrote to Elliott in that note Nice. I don't know
- 35:34Speaker 1: what the correlation between all three of these have to
- 35:36Speaker 1: be okay. But the weird thing about it to me
- 35:39Speaker 1: is Dell is isn't Dell pregnant? No, they're just gonna
- 35:43Speaker 1: get married. They just get pregnant quickly. But they're getting married.
- 35:47Speaker 1: So there is a future child. When Dell writes, dear
- 35:50Speaker 1: little one, Tessa has a baby, Alice is neither married
- 35:55Speaker 1: nor pregnant. She's just assuming the existence of a future child. Caasy.
- 36:00Speaker 1: Maybe I don't know, you know, I paused it and
- 36:03Speaker 1: I read it. There was nothing particularly dynamic about the letter,
- 36:06Speaker 1: in my opinion, other than like I'll roads lead back
- 36:09Speaker 1: to here in family, et cetera. Maybe we'll see that
- 36:13Speaker 1: time capsule come to be important. Or maybe that time
- 36:17Speaker 1: Caunsul was simply a vehicle for us to find Susannah's suitcase. Yes,
- 36:21Speaker 1: we don't know when. When we heard Alice's voiceover, I
- 36:25Speaker 1: thought we were going to see someone reading the letter.
- 36:28Speaker 1: Oh that would have been awesome. But we don't. We
- 36:30Speaker 1: just hear Alice reading the letter over a few scenes
- 36:33Speaker 1: at the end. One final thing about Kat the speech
- 36:37Speaker 1: she gives to Alice at Alice's graduation. I cried. I
- 36:41Speaker 1: cried too, of course, I thought of you oh, thank you.
- 36:44Speaker 1: And now I was like, should I write some of
- 36:46Speaker 1: these notes down because this is great if I give
- 36:47Speaker 1: a speech at my own daughter's crush I thought we didn't.
- 36:51Speaker 1: I didn't give a speech at my son's graduation, and
- 36:54Speaker 1: I am I a terrible parent. No, I got a
- 36:56Speaker 1: second pancake to do that too, right A. Well, I
- 37:00Speaker 1: did love Dell's line. That's the bittersweet gift of mom
- 37:03Speaker 1: loving heart and letting go. I mean, I feel that
- 37:06Speaker 1: I wrote it down because I'm going to try to
- 37:07Speaker 1: say it. I think it's so good. Needle pointed on
- 37:11Speaker 1: a pillow. Totally, that's great. Let's do that. Okay, finally
- 37:16Speaker 1: we have Jacob. I got a question. Okay, is Spencer
- 37:21Speaker 1: McPherson busy another show to work on? I know he's
- 37:24Speaker 1: on that other show, that school Spirit show or whatever.
- 37:27Speaker 1: What the frick are you not going to be around
- 37:29Speaker 1: this season? Is he not going to be around though?
- 37:31Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't know, but he's on the
- 37:34Speaker 1: LAMB right now. He ran away. I do kind of
- 37:37Speaker 1: get it the whole I thought it was kind of okay.
- 37:41Speaker 1: The opening of this episode is fully chaotic. Delle's freaking
- 37:45Speaker 1: out that Jacob's left, Danny shows up. Danny's like I
- 37:47Speaker 1: saw him at the bus stop. And then Danny sees
- 37:49Speaker 1: the letters and he's like, dell, I'm so sorry. I'll
- 37:51Speaker 1: help up with whatever I can. Yeah, it feels guilty
- 37:53Speaker 1: because he wrote those letters, right. And then Sam shows
- 37:58Speaker 1: up and Deale's like, we gotta go get him, and
- 37:59Speaker 1: so like she's like the pull the bus is speed speed,
- 38:06Speaker 1: poor Haven. They stop the bus. Can you imagine Jacob
- 38:09Speaker 1: and your Mommy's like, get off the bus, get it.
- 38:28Speaker 1: He's like wild eyed. I was embarrassed for him. Classical.
- 38:39Speaker 1: I do think Jacob makes a good point. I gotta
- 38:41Speaker 1: make it on my own. I mean, he makes a
- 38:46Speaker 1: good point, you're right, and he's like, look, those letters
- 38:50Speaker 1: are what put y'all in trouble, So I gotta go
- 38:54Speaker 1: like he's trying to protect the family. He's trying to
- 38:56Speaker 1: protect the family. I do think he could make it
- 38:58Speaker 1: on his own import Haven, but maybe not. Maybe there's
- 39:01Speaker 1: too much history. He leaves, we learn that he hasn't
- 39:04Speaker 1: really been in touch, but Cat's been keeping him in
- 39:06Speaker 1: the loop, and you don't you know in that moment,
- 39:09Speaker 1: she's like, all right, I get it. She doesn't like it. Yeah,
- 39:12Speaker 1: what is she gonna do? It's that goes back to
- 39:15Speaker 1: that bitter, sweet, loving blood letting it go. Yeah. Yeah.
- 39:19Speaker 1: In this episode, Alice gets a one I assume is
- 39:22Speaker 1: a graduation gift from Jacob who's in Toronto, and Kat's like,
- 39:25Speaker 1: what's it doing in Toronto? And it's a set of
- 39:28Speaker 1: the Alice in Wonderland books, and he's like, you can
- 39:29Speaker 1: have your own set when you go. Before she leaves
- 39:32Speaker 1: for her graduation, she's like, wait a minute, wait a minute.
- 39:35Speaker 1: It's that like gif with like the numbers floating around
- 39:38Speaker 1: her head. And she pulls out her own Alice in
- 39:41Speaker 1: Wonderland book and it seems like maybe there's something hidden
- 39:43Speaker 1: in the new one, but we don't. Oh, I clocked
- 39:46Speaker 1: it as different, would you clock it? As? She's like
- 39:49Speaker 1: feeling the cover in the new book with his message
- 39:54Speaker 1: written on it. She goes to the old one and
- 39:56Speaker 1: looks at it, and she lifts it up and looks
- 39:58Speaker 1: at it. I think a page has been torn out
- 40:00Speaker 1: old book. Like that same page there's out of the
- 40:05Speaker 1: old book. I don't know why she was feeling it though,
- 40:08Speaker 1: I don't know. She's like, I can maybe she's gonna
- 40:10Speaker 1: rub Pencilia. There's an impression on it. I don't know,
- 40:16Speaker 1: but that that is unresolved. That leaves us with nine
- 40:19Speaker 1: episodes to go. I got a bunch of questions I
- 40:21Speaker 1: do too, Can I start? Yeah? When Alice goes to
- 40:25Speaker 1: the Goodwin's house and Lewis is watching, to talk about that, okay,
- 40:28Speaker 1: go ahead, go ahead ahead. But Alice goes to the
- 40:30Speaker 1: Goodwin's house and Lewis is watching the films that he
- 40:33Speaker 1: had won at the fundraiser, and he explains to Alice, Oh,
- 40:39Speaker 1: these are audition films for a silent movie that are
- 40:43Speaker 1: my ancestors were trying to launch here in Port Heaven,
- 40:47Speaker 1: and the investors pulled out like on the day whatever.
- 40:51Speaker 1: So what we see on screen are like all these
- 40:53Speaker 1: actors and they're like doing their silent film like auditions
- 40:57Speaker 1: or whatever. Lewis leaves the room. Alice then sees a
- 41:02Speaker 1: woman who comes on screen and she holds up a
- 41:04Speaker 1: sign that her name is Fern Landry. So this is
- 41:07Speaker 1: young Fern. And then as she's watching, she sees her mom,
- 41:11Speaker 1: Kat jump into frame and then like they're scared at something, right, Okay,
- 41:15Speaker 1: So this becomes like this through line, this is confirmation
- 41:18Speaker 1: that Kat was in nineteen twenty five. Did you notice
- 41:22Speaker 1: on the sign that Fern held that had her name
- 41:26Speaker 1: on it? It had her character name on it, Cassandra.
- 41:30Speaker 1: And I don't remember a lot of things, a brand
- 41:34Speaker 1: of a goldfish here or whatever the say name is right,
- 41:36Speaker 1: but I remember Cassandra. A name of Cassandra in last season?
- 41:40Speaker 1: Was that the ghost in Lingamore? Remember they would do
- 41:43Speaker 1: the Ouiji board and Evelyn was like, there's a ghost
- 41:46Speaker 1: here named Cassandra m. And then at that time in
- 41:51Speaker 1: last season we were like Cassandra, Cassie Casey, like we're
- 41:55Speaker 1: talking about all this thing. There is a reason why
- 41:58Speaker 1: this character's name is Cassandra. I think you might be correct.
- 42:02Speaker 1: I don't know why. That good job. I don't know
- 42:04Speaker 1: why either. The woman who plays young ferns stunning, stunning,
- 42:08Speaker 1: and I actually think looks like Kyler Lee a little bit. Yeah.
- 42:11Speaker 1: There's a photo of them, a press site photo of
- 42:14Speaker 1: them standing side by side, and their faces are similar.
- 42:18Speaker 1: So crazy to me. In fact, at one point I was, well,
- 42:20Speaker 1: they would be because it's her. Great, yeah, but not
- 42:22Speaker 1: in real life. You know you're right, you're right, But
- 42:26Speaker 1: but I thought I thought for a second, I was like, wait,
- 42:29Speaker 1: is that Kyler? Obviously it's not, it's a different actress.
- 42:32Speaker 1: That was my big like, what does that mean? What
- 42:36Speaker 1: other questions do you have? We know that Tessa has
- 42:39Speaker 1: some connection to Evelyn because in her suitcase there were
- 42:41Speaker 1: two tarot cards that Alice clocks as from Evelyn's deck,
- 42:45Speaker 1: and she's like, do they know each other? And Delle says,
- 42:47Speaker 1: yes they did, But what's the connection there? Don't know.
- 42:52Speaker 1: Will we see Evelyn again this season? I hope so.
- 42:54Speaker 1: At the end of the episode, when Alice jumps into
- 42:57Speaker 1: the pond after Kat jumps in when Elliott couldn't. Oh yeah,
- 43:02Speaker 1: So Alice emerges and she's greeted by old Fern in
- 43:06Speaker 1: nineteen seventy five, I have to presume, and Cat emerges
- 43:09Speaker 1: and she's greeted by young Fern, so in nineteen twenty five.
- 43:12Speaker 1: The pond takes you where you need to go? Why
- 43:14Speaker 1: does Alis need to go back to nineteen seventy five?
- 43:17Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't know. They both say the
- 43:19Speaker 1: same thing, when are you from, Dearie? Yeah? I think
- 43:22Speaker 1: that's so cute. I love it. We knew Fern new
- 43:25Speaker 1: was all knowing? Yeah, right, I just have questions that
- 43:29Speaker 1: are unanswered. Okay, let me hear well, you know, some
- 43:32Speaker 1: of our unanswered questions remain who jumped with Tessa, what
- 43:36Speaker 1: happens to Fern? What scared her in nineteen twenty five?
- 43:39Speaker 1: Her and Kat? Sam? Maybe I don't know? You know,
- 43:43Speaker 1: we don't see Casey in this episode at all. Where
- 43:46Speaker 1: are they? That question remains unanswered. Who are they? Where?
- 43:50Speaker 1: And when are they? Does Elliot time travel again? Or
- 43:54Speaker 1: our Kat now is simply responsible for reuniting him? You know?
- 43:58Speaker 1: Is there more to know about Alice song and her
- 44:01Speaker 1: inability to commit to her own music? Or is that
- 44:05Speaker 1: just you know she's a kid and still finding her
- 44:07Speaker 1: own voice? Oh? The Noah versus Max of it all?
- 44:10Speaker 1: How's that love triangle gonna resolve? I like it? Who
- 44:13Speaker 1: is Sam? And will Jacob return? Good question? You said
- 44:18Speaker 1: you had something to say about a horse. No, I
- 44:20Speaker 1: just think it's funny. Oh you said like I got
- 44:23Speaker 1: a little no I have no no, no. Mine was
- 44:25Speaker 1: the Cassandra God. This has to be coincidence. For all
- 44:32Speaker 1: the seasons, every episode has been named after a song, right,
- 44:35Speaker 1: And the title of this one is Show Me the
- 44:37Speaker 1: Way to Go Home? And I was like, I'm not
- 44:39Speaker 1: familiar with that song, so I googled it. It was
- 44:42Speaker 1: written in nineteen twenty five, oh by Jimmy Campbell and
- 44:48Speaker 1: Red Connolly, but most people remember it from the movie Jaws,
- 44:54Speaker 1: which came out in nineteen seventy five. Wow, that has
- 44:58Speaker 1: to be coincidence, right in her rest. It's got to
- 45:02Speaker 1: be coincidence. Yeah, real, real coincidency though. Yeah. Well, that's
- 45:07Speaker 1: a wrap on this mega episode of the season premiere
- 45:11Speaker 1: of The Way Home Season four. We'll be here all
