Transcript
- 0:16Speaker 1: Welcome into a beautiful victory Monday. Here in Duval County.
- 0:20Speaker 1: We love it when the Jaguars get a win. It's
- 0:23Speaker 1: sunny day in Florida, it's warm again. The fair is leaving,
- 0:26Speaker 1: so there's more parking for us in the morning. So personally,
- 0:29Speaker 1: I'm having a great day to start. I met a
- 0:31Speaker 1: lot of Jaguars fans are having a great day today
- 0:34Speaker 1: as well.
- 0:34Speaker 2: Welcome to Jags am.
- 0:35Speaker 1: I'm Kinannie Stevens, Brian Sexton, John Osier with me this morning,
- 0:38Speaker 1: and I don't know how you couldn't be having a
- 0:39Speaker 1: good victory Monday after the beatdown we saw of the
- 0:43Speaker 1: Chargers yesterday at EverBank Stadium. We're gonna start out with
- 0:46Speaker 1: some big things cause it was a good one and
- 0:48Speaker 1: we wanna review all the good stuff from yesterday. So
- 0:50Speaker 1: Big Things Prevented but presented by GEHA Government Employees Health
- 0:54Speaker 1: Association VIC. Thing Number one was a response after that
- 0:57Speaker 1: finish against the Texans. It was a focus all week long.
- 1:00Speaker 1: Liam Cohen wanted to see a response from his team.
- 1:04Speaker 3: You know what, I talk to you guys about it
- 1:05Speaker 3: a little bit the other day.
- 1:06Speaker 4: It was a quieter week.
- 1:07Speaker 3: And I think that was probably because we're pissed off,
- 1:12Speaker 3: you know, at the finish last week, and we played better.
- 1:15Speaker 3: Pissed off we are. We've talked about edge for a
- 1:20Speaker 3: long time now, and when we have an edge and
- 1:23Speaker 3: we play as a team and it's about the team
- 1:26Speaker 3: all the time, good things happen.
- 1:29Speaker 4: Typically for US.
- 1:32Speaker 1: Brian's team was pissed off and they played pissed off
- 1:34Speaker 1: and they definitely took out some frustration on the Chargers yesterday.
- 1:37Speaker 5: Listen, the running game was the star of the show.
- 1:39Speaker 5: Trevor led the eleven and sixteen, played drives, Josh einz Allen,
- 1:43Speaker 5: the pass rush came to life, he got the franchise record,
- 1:45Speaker 5: But the star of the show was Liam Cohen. From
- 1:48Speaker 5: the moment that the game in Houston was over, it
- 1:50Speaker 5: was clear to anybody who's been around this game at all.
- 1:53Speaker 5: With a first year head coach, this was his time.
- 1:55Speaker 5: There was always going to be a tough loss like that.
- 1:58Speaker 5: How he got his team through, how they responded. These
- 2:03Speaker 5: are not those Jaguars. We've been saying it, but they
- 2:06Speaker 5: hadn't born out on the field.
- 2:08Speaker 6: Now. It's entirely his team.
- 2:10Speaker 5: They played his way coming out of a disastrous day
- 2:14Speaker 5: in Houston and it was it was magnificent to watch
- 2:19Speaker 5: how his team responded.
- 2:20Speaker 4: Yeah, I was never overly concerned that they wouldn't try
- 2:25Speaker 4: to respond, and I was never concerned that he didn't
- 2:28Speaker 4: have the locker room. My concern was the injury situation.
- 2:33Speaker 4: Did they have the horses, so to speak, to respond?
- 2:37Speaker 4: And you know, again I ranked this up there. I'll
- 2:41Speaker 4: get into it later in the season. I mean in
- 2:43Speaker 4: the show. It's as good to win as I've seen
- 2:45Speaker 4: this team have since I've been back. Every box checked.
- 2:49Speaker 4: But as Brian said, the story is how this team
- 2:53Speaker 4: responded to that loss, and it was Liam. It was
- 2:56Speaker 4: Liam Cohen's day.
- 2:58Speaker 1: Let's get into how they actually got that win, got
- 3:01Speaker 1: it done. And second big thing today is going to
- 3:03Speaker 1: be run game, because we've been talking about getting the
- 3:05Speaker 1: run game going for a while now. Travis Etn and
- 3:08Speaker 1: Facial toot and kind of split the load there and
- 3:10Speaker 1: they both had about one hundred and fifty yards total
- 3:12Speaker 1: together yesterday on the ground. So that was a great effort. Etn,
- 3:15Speaker 1: though said, it's all because of the O line. I know,
- 3:18Speaker 1: big shoutouts and I was a lineman man, it was
- 3:20Speaker 1: either just moving people and you don't go out there
- 3:22Speaker 1: and run a ball like that without doing so.
- 3:24Speaker 6: Just house off to them.
- 3:25Speaker 2: Man.
- 3:25Speaker 6: They had the moving people just making my reason so easy.
- 3:28Speaker 3: And I just had to keep it in the straight
- 3:29Speaker 3: and and it's just thank.
- 3:31Speaker 2: You for it.
- 3:31Speaker 1: Now, John, we know this team is good when they
- 3:33Speaker 1: established the run early, but the offensive line able to
- 3:36Speaker 1: do as well as they did, and that was without
- 3:38Speaker 1: Brenton Strange and without their starting right tackle on Anton Harrison.
- 3:41Speaker 4: Yeah, it was a really impressive effort in COLVI and
- 3:44Speaker 4: Landon deserves a lot of credit for stepping in playing
- 3:47Speaker 4: a different position the O the week before. You can
- 3:50Speaker 4: almost tell Brian with this team in the first quarter
- 3:55Speaker 4: what kind of day it's going to be. Not where
- 3:56Speaker 4: they're gonna be able to win or lose. But it's
- 3:59Speaker 4: not a team that necessarily overpowers you in the run game.
- 4:03Speaker 4: But when they're getting three four and then sort of
- 4:05Speaker 4: leaning forward, you know you can tell it's sort of
- 4:09Speaker 4: their day. You didn't know they were gonna win that
- 4:11Speaker 4: game in the first quarter on Sunday, but you knew
- 4:14Speaker 4: they were gonna have a shot because they got moving
- 4:16Speaker 4: on the line. And that's what this team is.
- 4:18Speaker 6: Listen, they had defensive tackles.
- 4:19Speaker 5: John pushed three yards off the line of scrims before
- 4:21Speaker 5: the reaching for the linebackers at the second level. They
- 4:25Speaker 5: made it easy for Travis and for basehel to be
- 4:29Speaker 5: able to find holes and run with it. My favorite
- 4:32Speaker 5: moment of the game yesterday, and we'll see this coming
- 4:35Speaker 5: up in highlights, is Etn's second touchdown. I think it
- 4:38Speaker 5: was about thirteen yards and you have Robert Hainsey and
- 4:40Speaker 5: Chuma Ydoga out leading the way and as soon as
- 4:43Speaker 5: they realized he scored.
- 4:44Speaker 6: You see and watch for it in the.
- 4:46Speaker 5: Lower left hand quarter of your sc you see Adoga
- 4:49Speaker 5: jump into the air and Robert Hainsey do this sitting
- 4:52Speaker 5: on the ground. It was just so clear they enjoyed
- 4:54Speaker 5: the moment of playing bully ball and taking a Chargers
- 4:58Speaker 5: defensive front that's pretty good and just driving them into
- 5:01Speaker 5: the ground all day.
- 5:02Speaker 6: It was really cool.
- 5:04Speaker 1: So our final big thing today is gonna be record
- 5:06Speaker 1: day because we have to mention Josh henz Allen passing
- 5:08Speaker 1: Tony Brackens. He's now the sole holder of the franchise
- 5:12Speaker 1: sac record. And Josh Henzellen talked a little bit about
- 5:14Speaker 1: his motivations this year and what the team needs to
- 5:16Speaker 1: focus on going forward.
- 5:19Speaker 7: Like being pissed off was great for us because we
- 5:23Speaker 7: lost in the way we lost, especially to a team,
- 5:26Speaker 7: So like at that current moment, we needed to play
- 5:30Speaker 7: pissed off next week, you know obviously, I mean, what
- 5:34Speaker 7: are we gonna find something to be pissed off about?
- 5:36Speaker 7: I think being pissed off kind of made people focus
- 5:39Speaker 7: on their details, focus on what I have to come
- 5:42Speaker 7: into this building and do. Maybe I have to come
- 5:43Speaker 7: up earlier and get at youra treatment. Maybe you have
- 5:46Speaker 7: to do more study and maybe you have to be
- 5:47Speaker 7: in the playbook a little bit more. Maybe you have
- 5:49Speaker 7: to study something differently. I did something, you know, I
- 5:52Speaker 7: think that put more focus on Everybody has to be
- 5:55Speaker 7: what they need to be. And that's the if that
- 5:57Speaker 7: if that's the focus that we have moving forward, and
- 5:59Speaker 7: we'll be a tough to.
- 6:00Speaker 1: Be Brian the defense he's in that frustration from the
- 6:03Speaker 1: fourth quarter against the Tech at Texans to kind of
- 6:05Speaker 1: refocus obviously they were angry about it, but using it
- 6:08Speaker 1: to refocus get back to what they're good at. Josh
- 6:10Speaker 1: heinzelin stepping up to the challenge that was kind of
- 6:13Speaker 1: laid down this week.
- 6:14Speaker 6: Well, they had to have it listen. I'm confused.
- 6:16Speaker 5: How is it that it gets a backup quarterback where
- 6:19Speaker 5: you have some starters on defense you can't stop him.
- 6:22Speaker 6: But against Justin Herbert, one of the hottest quarterbacks.
- 6:24Speaker 5: In the league, you can lose Greg Newsom, who's your
- 6:26Speaker 5: most seasoned corner and throwing Christian Brasswoll, no problem, right, Well,
- 6:30Speaker 5: the pass rush got that done yesterday. They took the
- 6:33Speaker 5: pressure off of a depleted second And remember, no Travis Hunter,
- 6:37Speaker 5: we found out last week he's gone for the year.
- 6:39Speaker 6: No Jordan Lewis, we don't know when he comes back.
- 6:44Speaker 6: He didn't Newsom.
- 6:45Speaker 5: And then the safety situation has been a problem all year.
- 6:47Speaker 5: And what did he complete? Ten of eighteen passes for
- 6:51Speaker 5: eighty one yards. Ridiculous, incredible effort. Congratulations. We both covered
- 6:56Speaker 5: john Tony Brackens. We know what kind of player he is.
- 7:00Speaker 5: For Josh Allen to be where he's at, and he's
- 7:02Speaker 5: an incredible leader, which totally really wasn't for him to
- 7:06Speaker 5: stand there yesterday and talk about his teammates. I thought
- 7:09Speaker 5: it was a great moment for the franchise.
- 7:10Speaker 4: Yeah, and I think what Josh was getting at more
- 7:13Speaker 4: than anything in the SoundBite yes, they were pissed off
- 7:17Speaker 4: on Sunday. He also knows it's hard to play seventeen
- 7:23Speaker 4: games with that level of what's the word pissed offness?
- 7:28Speaker 4: That so friendly. He's also trying to get across the
- 7:34Speaker 4: message You've got to do guys what you did last
- 7:37Speaker 4: week every week. We have to reach that level and
- 7:40Speaker 4: be more consistent in all this. But to the point
- 7:43Speaker 4: of the segment, unbelievable job. Defensively, they I didn't know
- 7:49Speaker 4: if they could win the key match up. The key
- 7:51Speaker 4: matchup was offensive line, the charges versus defense line of
- 7:54Speaker 4: the Jacks. You knew if they won it they'd have
- 7:56Speaker 4: a chance, and they did it in an incredible way.
- 8:01Speaker 4: I mean, it is a It is a banner day
- 8:04Speaker 4: for this franchise.
- 8:04Speaker 5: A signature win for Liam Cohen in his first year
- 8:07Speaker 5: coming off of that loss.
- 8:10Speaker 6: Incredible.
- 8:11Speaker 1: Stay with us area on Jagsam. We're gonna go over
- 8:13Speaker 1: the highlights from yesterday. There were a lot of them,
- 8:15Speaker 1: so definitely don't want to miss it, Jags fans. If
- 8:22Speaker 1: you want customize Dagwars furniture for your home, check out
- 8:24Speaker 1: zipchare dot com to browse all the customizable options.
- 8:26Speaker 2: Zip Chair is furniture for fans.
- 8:30Speaker 3: I thought it actually really helped us.
- 8:32Speaker 6: We don't you know. We did it for not the whole.
- 8:34Speaker 3: Plan and everything. It was some specific stuff that we
- 8:38Speaker 3: wanted to maybe play a little bit faster and just
- 8:41Speaker 3: have a little bit more tempo in and out of
- 8:42Speaker 3: the huddle, and just more clarity on some of the things.
- 8:46Speaker 3: And I know it definitely helped us for sure. I think.
- 8:48Speaker 3: I think today head.
- 8:50Speaker 1: Coach Liam Cohen weighing in on Trevor Lawrence, who was
- 8:53Speaker 1: seen wearing a wristband which he hadn't been wearing to
- 8:56Speaker 1: start the season, something he's worn in the past. And
- 8:58Speaker 1: I don't know if that's a huge deal in and
- 9:00Speaker 1: of itself, but I do find it interesting and I
- 9:02Speaker 1: appreciate that maybe it wasn't working as well for them,
- 9:06Speaker 1: and so Liam said, Okay, let's try it out for
- 9:08Speaker 1: a little bit and put a couple of the plays
- 9:10Speaker 1: on there. Not go all the way back in and
- 9:11Speaker 1: with every single thing written down, but the ability to
- 9:15Speaker 1: be like, hey, let's pivot a little bit and change
- 9:17Speaker 1: something up, see if that works.
- 9:18Speaker 5: Yeah, And I wonder if maybe having that not only
- 9:21Speaker 5: gave him confidence, but they were smooth, you know, they
- 9:22Speaker 5: held on with one cult penalty yesterday.
- 9:24Speaker 2: Yeah, amazing.
- 9:25Speaker 5: Why No, So we talk all the time about how
- 9:27Speaker 5: complicated the offense is and how many shifts and motions
- 9:29Speaker 5: that Liam likes to use, and how it just hasn't worked.
- 9:32Speaker 5: Perhaps going back a little bit made things smoother. I
- 9:35Speaker 5: don't know whether the correlations there. Will obviously talk to
- 9:37Speaker 5: Liam this week about it, but that's an amazing storyline
- 9:40Speaker 5: that just got lost in everything else.
- 9:41Speaker 4: Yeah. I think people get frustrated in the first year
- 9:46Speaker 4: of a regime because they expect to sort of open
- 9:49Speaker 4: the Christmas package and the toy works right away. Yeah,
- 9:51Speaker 4: and you know, and you're mad at Christmas if like
- 9:54Speaker 4: Da didn't get batteries.
- 9:55Speaker 2: Yeah, you gotta put together.
- 9:57Speaker 4: So sometimes it takes a little time. OTAs and training
- 10:04Speaker 4: camp are great, but real time stuff for an offense
- 10:07Speaker 4: is the only way you really find out if it works.
- 10:10Speaker 4: And it does seem like they are working toward finding
- 10:15Speaker 4: it's going to be a perfection, but their level of
- 10:17Speaker 4: efficiency and it's frustrating because you see it not work
- 10:22Speaker 4: as a fan and think, oh, it's never going to
- 10:24Speaker 4: get there. There have been moments, and speaking to this
- 10:30Speaker 4: a couple of times In the last few weeks, there's
- 10:32Speaker 4: been moments where it's five or six drives in a row.
- 10:35Speaker 4: They're really impressive. I guess it was what three touchdown
- 10:38Speaker 4: drives in a row against the Raiders it was what six? Yeah,
- 10:41Speaker 4: So you can sort of see it coming together. It's
- 10:44Speaker 4: going to be that every week, but you can see
- 10:46Speaker 4: it coming together. We're ten games in. Think about what
- 10:49Speaker 4: it'll be twenty games in.
- 10:50Speaker 5: Well, listen, you're coming off that loss in London to
- 10:52Speaker 5: the m they've scored thirty twenty nine and not.
- 10:55Speaker 6: Thirty five points.
- 10:56Speaker 5: Not all I mean the special teams provided. But you've
- 10:59Speaker 5: got to team that's starting well. I mean, John, how
- 11:03Speaker 5: many years have we seen around here the Jaguars failed
- 11:05Speaker 5: to score twenty five points on this season, you know?
- 11:07Speaker 5: And now all of a sudden many, yeah, many many,
- 11:09Speaker 5: And now all of a sudden they're consistently scoring. At
- 11:13Speaker 5: least the last couple of weeks, they're consistently scoring, right.
- 11:16Speaker 6: Good for them.
- 11:17Speaker 2: Twenty five NFL team, We love it. Let's start out early.
- 11:20Speaker 1: They established the run very early and it was nice
- 11:22Speaker 1: to see both Facial Tutan and etn get involved.
- 11:25Speaker 2: Touton was just John, I think you were.
- 11:27Speaker 1: Talking a little bit about this earlier, and it feels
- 11:28Speaker 1: like that. It really does feel like he's running down
- 11:30Speaker 1: a hill at times, like just the gravity of the
- 11:32Speaker 1: force that he brings and when he's rushing is it's
- 11:36Speaker 1: violent and it's impressive.
- 11:38Speaker 2: It's physical.
- 11:38Speaker 4: Well, and again it sort of speaks to oh I
- 11:42Speaker 4: was talking about earlier. He's a rookie, you know, and
- 11:46Speaker 4: you saw him training camp a like weird combination of
- 11:51Speaker 4: speed and power because all you heard on draft day
- 11:52Speaker 4: was how fast he was. Okay, he's going to be
- 11:54Speaker 4: a fat and then you see how powerful he is. Well,
- 11:58Speaker 4: it takes time to figure out, Okay, where can we
- 12:00Speaker 4: get him in the offense? What does he know? How
- 12:02Speaker 4: much is he ready for? I think you probably saw
- 12:05Speaker 4: yesterday the first day of many, many big days for
- 12:08Speaker 4: this kid, because he's got an unusual skill set in
- 12:12Speaker 4: the speed and power.
- 12:13Speaker 5: If he hadn't had been caught around, you know, and
- 12:16Speaker 5: just tripped up enough to slow him down, we would
- 12:18Speaker 5: have seen the fifty five sixty yard touchdown run.
- 12:20Speaker 6: Mean, people would have seen that.
- 12:21Speaker 4: So before the season, we thought this was gonna I
- 12:24Speaker 4: thought it was going to be a dynamic, big play offense.
- 12:26Speaker 4: One reason is because you saw his speed and you
- 12:29Speaker 4: thought there would be many or not many. It's hard
- 12:31Speaker 4: to do that many times in the NFL, but you
- 12:33Speaker 4: thought to be three or four where he broke it,
- 12:34Speaker 4: and he's getting close.
- 12:36Speaker 1: We talked about Josh heinz Allen and big things, but
- 12:38Speaker 1: finally getting that Zach record. He's passed rushed as a
- 12:41Speaker 1: whole struggle at times this season, but Brian for him
- 12:44Speaker 1: to finally get it and in a big moment in
- 12:46Speaker 1: the game and then also in a big win over
- 12:48Speaker 1: the Chargers, Well.
- 12:49Speaker 5: We've talked about his pressure rate being so high near
- 12:51Speaker 5: the top of the league, but he just hadn't gotten home.
- 12:54Speaker 5: And you could see on this play that Justin Herbert
- 12:57Speaker 5: is trying to slide outside of him and Josh is
- 12:59Speaker 5: falling to the ground, falling forward, and he just reached
- 13:02Speaker 5: out like I am not letting this guy.
- 13:04Speaker 6: Get away from me. That it's the epidity of effort.
- 13:08Speaker 4: Yeah, he also rushed the right way. He didn't get
- 13:10Speaker 4: out of his lane, and he would tell you against
- 13:13Speaker 4: Houston there were a couple of big plays where he
- 13:15Speaker 4: rushed upfield let him go inside. You know, also on
- 13:19Speaker 4: that play, I didn't significant everybody was getting pressure, so
- 13:22Speaker 4: he got flushed to Josh. So pass rushing is usually
- 13:26Speaker 4: a team thing.
- 13:27Speaker 6: It showed up yesterday, and by the way, it showed
- 13:29Speaker 6: up with those two young guys.
- 13:30Speaker 5: Danny Strugaut had a couple of just excellent pass rushes
- 13:33Speaker 5: where he was just slightly off and then of course
- 13:36Speaker 5: bj Green got screwed out of a sack.
- 13:39Speaker 4: Yeah, that's the kind of thing they expect from bj Green,
- 13:42Speaker 4: and I agree. I don't know how he avoids the
- 13:45Speaker 4: penalty on that play and still play the game of football.
- 13:49Speaker 6: He put his head to the side, which is what
- 13:50Speaker 6: they want.
- 13:51Speaker 4: You to do, and he didn't land and he was
- 13:53Speaker 4: come at full speed and Herbert jumped into the air,
- 13:57Speaker 4: which has made avoided it had mid air, he elevated
- 14:03Speaker 4: and not landed on.
- 14:04Speaker 6: Herbert, and by the way, which did a hell of
- 14:05Speaker 6: a play.
- 14:06Speaker 5: Speaking of the hell of play and it impacting the game,
- 14:09Speaker 5: how about Trey Lance when he was about to be
- 14:12Speaker 5: sacked by Dwan Smoot. It felt like Smoot let off
- 14:14Speaker 5: a little bit.
- 14:15Speaker 2: Because he did want to get at right, which is unfortunate.
- 14:18Speaker 4: Becau.
- 14:18Speaker 1: That's exactly what it did, and it also well, let's
- 14:21Speaker 1: take a look at the play actually, so we have
- 14:23Speaker 1: the BJ Green sack and it's tough because it also
- 14:26Speaker 1: came late as well. So we're not going to go
- 14:27Speaker 1: in on the officiating, but I think sometimes when the
- 14:29Speaker 1: quarterback gets hurt, they're a little more.
- 14:33Speaker 2: Apt to throw the flag there.
- 14:34Speaker 1: But as as mentioned, let's just talk a little bit
- 14:38Speaker 1: about the young guys. I think it was great to
- 14:39Speaker 1: get them a little more playing time. We saw Ogboat
- 14:41Speaker 1: didn't dress yesterday, so Beja Green and Strago where both
- 14:44Speaker 1: up and we saw them both impact the game.
- 14:47Speaker 4: I'll talk about the official had little bit I don't
- 14:48Speaker 4: know too. It's not necessarily their fault. It is set
- 14:53Speaker 4: up where like peop always doing to blame the officials,
- 14:55Speaker 4: it is. It is a gray area that's almost impossible
- 14:58Speaker 4: to officiate. It was a bad call, But if I'm
- 15:02Speaker 4: an official, I don't know how else to call this.
- 15:05Speaker 4: But I also don't know how else BJ Green makes
- 15:07Speaker 4: the play. He's playing aggressively. There was clearly if you
- 15:12Speaker 4: put those officials in a room and said, did you
- 15:13Speaker 4: see an intent injur No, But by the letter of
- 15:17Speaker 4: the rule, they feel like they have to call this.
- 15:20Speaker 4: It's a broken area of the league's policy on quarterbacks
- 15:24Speaker 4: right now, and I don't know how to fix it
- 15:26Speaker 4: because they're not going to change it.
- 15:27Speaker 5: Listen, then last week Trayvon Walker, right, you're asking a
- 15:29Speaker 5: guy to be an athlete.
- 15:30Speaker 6: He's chasing a player.
- 15:33Speaker 5: I got to keep my head all the way back
- 15:34Speaker 5: and look up at the sky to make sure that
- 15:36Speaker 5: my head doesn't slide in and somehow make contact with
- 15:38Speaker 5: the helmet.
- 15:39Speaker 6: I mean, you have to be able to judge intent,
- 15:41Speaker 6: right Sam. They'll never do that though. Intent well, it's
- 15:44Speaker 6: kind of like.
- 15:44Speaker 4: The don't never bring intent back to this call. That's unfortunately.
- 15:47Speaker 5: Well, listen, you saw last night, if you saw the
- 15:50Speaker 5: Lions Eagles game, a terrible call on pass interference as well.
- 15:55Speaker 6: We're making these.
- 15:56Speaker 5: Guys make really difficult calls if you can't figure out
- 15:59Speaker 5: the intent.
- 15:59Speaker 4: And it's a little again, this ain't gonna change either.
- 16:02Speaker 4: But it's a little too offense centric right now. But
- 16:06Speaker 4: as I told somebody in the ozone, don't sit around
- 16:09Speaker 4: waiting for the lead to get defensive centric. We're gonna
- 16:12Speaker 4: get very.
- 16:12Speaker 6: Fraud I love the hood. It's a violent game.
- 16:15Speaker 2: We'll go back a little bit.
- 16:16Speaker 1: Take a look at this etn's first touchdown of the day,
- 16:19Speaker 1: a little wildcat touchdown.
- 16:23Speaker 2: We know Liam Kung can be creative.
- 16:24Speaker 1: Sometimes he gets a little hamstrung by penalties or getting
- 16:27Speaker 1: behind the six, and he was able to go into
- 16:30Speaker 1: his full bag of tricks yesterday.
- 16:32Speaker 4: Well, and I think that's really the key. People get
- 16:34Speaker 4: so angry at the offense and they think the offense
- 16:38Speaker 4: stinks when it can't overcome third and twelve and long yardage,
- 16:44Speaker 4: and they think that Liam Cohen is not being creative
- 16:47Speaker 4: when no offensive coordinator can be very creative. When you're
- 16:52Speaker 4: running fifty plays in a game, you've got to get
- 16:54Speaker 4: first down. It's why fans get tired of his harping
- 16:57Speaker 4: on penalties. But the pre stamp penalties for nine games. Oh,
- 17:01Speaker 4: this sucks, This sucks. This sucks a lot. Didn't suck
- 17:04Speaker 4: about the Jaguars offense except that they were in these
- 17:07Speaker 4: situations if they couldn't succeed.
- 17:09Speaker 5: In well and listen, they did what they did on
- 17:11Speaker 5: the ground yesterday to set up some of the creative,
- 17:13Speaker 5: clever play calling. They did it without Breton Strange. They
- 17:16Speaker 5: did it without Brian Thomas Junior, right, I mean they
- 17:19Speaker 5: did it without Anton Harrison and cole Van Landon played
- 17:22Speaker 5: really good football yesterday. Khalil Mack didn't even sniff the quarterback.
- 17:26Speaker 5: They didn't get a sack. That's an offensive line that
- 17:29Speaker 5: gave up what twenty sacks in the four previous games,
- 17:32Speaker 5: and colet Van Landon steps in that they were able
- 17:34Speaker 5: to be so effective with so many key players being down. Yeah,
- 17:40Speaker 5: that's off the Lieb going in his entire coaching staff.
- 17:43Speaker 4: Sacks are so incredibly situational, and the offensive line often
- 17:48Speaker 4: gets blamed for situations they can't control.
- 17:51Speaker 1: Let's look at Trevor's rushing touchdown and then and a
- 17:54Speaker 1: big catch from Jacoby Myers before that. Because Trevor Lawrence
- 17:57Speaker 1: didn't have a crazy good day. I think other than
- 17:58Speaker 1: the interception, he played very smart with the football. But
- 18:01Speaker 1: seeing what Jacoby Myers could be as a target for him,
- 18:04Speaker 1: A just trusted guy over the middle who kind of
- 18:07Speaker 1: sits there, waits for the ball to get to him
- 18:09Speaker 1: a little bit, and I feel like Trevor already has
- 18:11Speaker 1: that innate trust in him.
- 18:12Speaker 5: He was inaccurate in the first half. He was, in fact,
- 18:16Speaker 5: I wrote down on my notes a couple of times he.
- 18:18Speaker 2: Did miss Myers I think early too.
- 18:19Speaker 6: Yeah, Letter Rip and then in the second half he
- 18:21Speaker 6: came out so sharp.
- 18:22Speaker 5: I mean he threw the ball into his own coverage,
- 18:25Speaker 5: you know, whizzing it passed receivers a pardon the defenders helmets.
- 18:29Speaker 5: I mean he was spectacular in the second half with
- 18:32Speaker 5: his ball placement, and because he was, it sets up opportunities.
- 18:35Speaker 1: Like this, Yeah, parting of the sea on that by
- 18:37Speaker 1: the way too, it looked like Alan Amiti in fifty eight.
- 18:40Speaker 4: He stats aside. I thought he had moments yesterday. They
- 18:48Speaker 4: were very significant. He clearly needs timing with receivers right
- 18:55Speaker 4: now in his career to be successful. You saw in
- 18:59Speaker 4: the second half some of the benefits of timing with
- 19:03Speaker 4: Jacobe Myers, timing with the guys that he's getting used
- 19:06Speaker 4: to in this scheme. I thought, three or four drives
- 19:12Speaker 4: when they were hot, it would be easy to overlook
- 19:15Speaker 4: how well he played. Also, look, he's probably a down
- 19:19Speaker 4: and distance quarterback right now. We talked about the offensive
- 19:22Speaker 4: line struggle on early. With the down and distant situation
- 19:24Speaker 4: for nine games a lot of good down and distance,
- 19:27Speaker 4: It's much easier to play quarterback on third and two.
- 19:29Speaker 5: Although he made it look great because that throw that
- 19:31Speaker 5: we just saw to Myers was third and twelve.
- 19:32Speaker 6: Yeah, it was rectacular throw.
- 19:34Speaker 4: You can't live there, but when you have timing of receivers,
- 19:38Speaker 4: you can pick up a few more of those.
- 19:39Speaker 5: Checkers were five of ten on third down yesterday, which
- 19:42Speaker 5: again the Chargers were one of the best teams in
- 19:44Speaker 5: the league on third down percentage, and they were five
- 19:46Speaker 5: of six in the red zone and the only reason
- 19:48Speaker 5: they didn't go six of six was at the end
- 19:50Speaker 5: they slowed it down, but they.
- 19:52Speaker 1: Didn't slow down, they didn't take their foot off the
- 19:53Speaker 1: gas because how about interceptionally And then also we're going
- 19:56Speaker 1: to do that last touchdown for Metian, which this one
- 19:58Speaker 1: we all love the blocking four. But it was nice
- 20:01Speaker 1: to see, especially after how things ended against the Texans. Yes,
- 20:05Speaker 1: this game is well in hand in the fourth quarter,
- 20:07Speaker 1: but no, we're not gonna We're not gonna stop to
- 20:10Speaker 1: what we do.
- 20:10Speaker 5: Great to see Antonio Johnson make a play. They need
- 20:13Speaker 5: him because he's gonna be their starter at safety if
- 20:16Speaker 5: he stays healthy the rest of the year.
- 20:18Speaker 4: Yeah, and so much of interceptions. Again, this is a
- 20:20Speaker 4: bad throw by Herbert, Yes, a little unusual for him,
- 20:24Speaker 4: but you get interceptions in sacks when you force the
- 20:27Speaker 4: other team to do things they don't want to do.
- 20:28Speaker 4: The Chargers didn't want to be thrown every dawn in
- 20:30Speaker 4: that situation. That's usually how you get mistakes by putting
- 20:34Speaker 4: other teams in bad spots.
- 20:35Speaker 6: And credit for youa Luacona that play.
- 20:37Speaker 5: He got the depth which made it hard for Herbert
- 20:40Speaker 5: to figure out where to throw the ball.
- 20:41Speaker 6: Look right, look at Hansey right there. I love it.
- 20:44Speaker 6: I just love the energy that he has.
- 20:46Speaker 4: And I misspoke earlier I said this offensive line doesn't
- 20:49Speaker 4: really drive people off the ball. Sometimes that's what they are.
- 20:53Speaker 4: Yesterday they were driving guys off the ball. So again
- 20:57Speaker 4: big credit to that group. And look at but again,
- 21:00Speaker 4: I think when you're in take dam when you're in
- 21:03Speaker 4: good situation, If this team cannot can reduce the penalties
- 21:07Speaker 4: and pre snap stuff, you're gonna see more of this
- 21:10Speaker 4: than not going forward.
- 21:12Speaker 2: A lot of good stuff from yesterday. I stayed with us.
- 21:13Speaker 1: We're gonna give you our hot takes coming back after
- 21:15Speaker 1: the break. Donate blood and save lives on the Big
- 21:30Speaker 1: Red Bus at the annual Tilgate Blood Drive on November

- 21:35Speaker 1: Jags home game ticket for one For more info, though,
- 21:37Speaker 1: go to one Blood dot org Slash Jaguars. Also, today's
- 21:41Speaker 1: episode of Jags Am brought to you by Firehouse Subs, specifically
- 21:44Speaker 1: bringing you our hot takes today. So we all are
- 21:49Speaker 1: thrilled after that win of course against the Chargers, and
- 21:51Speaker 1: now we're kind of looking ahead a little bit looking back.
- 21:54Speaker 2: What's your hot take for us today, Brian.
- 21:56Speaker 5: This is leam Cold's team, right, I mean, people go,
- 21:58Speaker 5: of course it was. He was hired right back and
- 21:59Speaker 5: give Theebruary. But there's a moment in a first year
- 22:02Speaker 5: head coach's tenure where if he's winning, if he's a
- 22:06Speaker 5: good coach and not a guy that's going to get
- 22:08Speaker 5: fired thirty six three hundred thirty six days in like
- 22:12Speaker 5: the guy that didn't make it in twenty twenty one
- 22:13Speaker 5: here that never became his team, but there's a moment
- 22:16Speaker 5: where it becomes his team. And this was clearly the moment,
- 22:20Speaker 5: coming off the loss a difficult week. He had to
- 22:22Speaker 5: get him focused. The belief level in that locker room
- 22:26Speaker 5: has to be sky high. He reminds me of when
- 22:29Speaker 5: Tom Coughlin took the Jaguars to beat the Broncos in
- 22:33Speaker 5: the playoffs in Denver. He had almost been fired at
- 22:36Speaker 5: one point in that season, right where things where people
- 22:38Speaker 5: were questioning him, and they got through that playoff run
- 22:41Speaker 5: and all of a sudden, it was Tom's team and
- 22:42Speaker 5: they went on that run. It felt like that yesterday
- 22:46Speaker 5: was that resounding win, and no one will question him.
- 22:50Speaker 6: It will be his team.
- 22:52Speaker 5: He can do whatever he wants with these guys because
- 22:54Speaker 5: the belief level is so strong in what they got
- 22:57Speaker 5: accomplished this week coming out of Houston.
- 22:59Speaker 4: Yeah, I can't say it better. It was his day.
- 23:03Speaker 4: I firmly believed it was already his team. I wasn't
- 23:07Speaker 4: surprised how they responded. I was surprised how how well
- 23:10Speaker 4: they played, which leads into my hot take I got
- 23:14Speaker 4: back here in twenty eleven. To me, this is the
- 23:16Speaker 4: most impressive when this team's had. The seventeen win over Pittsburgh,
- 23:23Speaker 4: when they went up there and handled in thirty to nine,
- 23:26Speaker 4: is probably the only one that's in the ballpark, because
- 23:28Speaker 4: I'm taking out any year where they stunk, which is
- 23:34Speaker 4: so considering the circumstance, considering what they needed, considering an
- 23:41Speaker 4: opponent on a three game winning streak, who I think
- 23:43Speaker 4: is still a playoff team considering the opposing quarterback. It
- 23:48Speaker 4: was as impressive and as important a win as I've
- 23:52Speaker 4: seen this team have. And I think also what it
- 23:56Speaker 4: sets you up for Now You've got a win over
- 23:59Speaker 4: the Chiefs, you got to win over the Chargers, You've
- 24:01Speaker 4: got playoff wins, head to head stuff. It was if
- 24:08Speaker 4: you looked at that game yesterday and think this is
- 24:11Speaker 4: anything related to quote same old Jags, you don't know.
- 24:16Speaker 4: You're missing what's going on.
- 24:17Speaker 5: I want to go back to seventeen real quick, because
- 24:19Speaker 5: ironically they lost in Arizona. They came home and they
- 24:22Speaker 5: had back to back to back games against the Colts,
- 24:24Speaker 5: the Texans, and the Seattle Seahawks. That was an incredibly
- 24:28Speaker 5: impressive stretch.
- 24:29Speaker 6: I remember that was the last twenty nine or.
- 24:31Speaker 5: More point win when they beat the Texans forty five
- 24:34Speaker 5: to seven. But they had that run there Kai where
- 24:37Speaker 5: it set them up and pushed them into the playoffs,
- 24:38Speaker 5: pushed them into the division title.
- 24:40Speaker 4: But I don't know that they played a team as
- 24:41Speaker 4: good as this win.
- 24:42Speaker 6: And no, and I'm not trying to say that that is.
- 24:44Speaker 5: But what I'm saying is is that in that really
- 24:47Speaker 5: playing well stretch, they put a couple of games together.
- 24:51Speaker 6: Now you got to go do that because you have
- 24:53Speaker 6: teams the.
- 24:54Speaker 5: Next two weeks in Arizona that's got three wins and
- 24:56Speaker 5: the Titans that have won win Dare I say you
- 24:59Speaker 5: should in these?
- 25:00Speaker 6: Now you have to go do it.
- 25:02Speaker 1: Can't can't let your foot off the gas and can't
- 25:04Speaker 1: play down to your ponment in those.
- 25:05Speaker 4: So you do that, you get to eight and four,
- 25:07Speaker 4: you're not and now you've got a swinger's chance to
- 25:10Speaker 4: get in the division. Yes, this is a uh you
- 25:13Speaker 4: got to build off this. It can't be a one off.
- 25:15Speaker 2: We'll lot of doors open up after that.
- 25:17Speaker 1: For me, I looked back at yesterday, and I know
- 25:20Speaker 1: we talk a lot about star players kind of making
- 25:22Speaker 1: your team, but for me yesterday it wasn't star power.
- 25:24Speaker 2: It felt more like willpower at a little a little
- 25:29Speaker 2: word word play there.
- 25:30Speaker 6: You work with words, right, John, I try.
- 25:32Speaker 1: Every once in a while. For me, there's tons of
- 25:34Speaker 1: injuries coming into this. You know, Brian Tomas Junior, you're
- 25:37Speaker 1: starting right tackles out. We thought Brent Strange was coming back.
- 25:40Speaker 1: He's not quite ready yet for them to come out.
- 25:43Speaker 1: Not be pretty about it. Dominate the run game really early,
- 25:46Speaker 1: it was it was the Cole Van Landon's, it was
- 25:48Speaker 1: the Johnny Months, it was Jacoby Myers who's been here
- 25:51Speaker 1: for maybe two weeks at this point, Antonio Johnson getting
- 25:55Speaker 1: an interception laid. It was your two new pass rushers, rookies,
- 25:59Speaker 1: undrafted agents like those were the names that got you
- 26:03Speaker 1: that win yesterday. And sometimes we put so much on Yeah,
- 26:06Speaker 1: these stars are paid a lot of money and they
- 26:08Speaker 1: need to be the ones making the big plays. Sometimes
- 26:10Speaker 1: it's about the other guys doing their one or two plays,
- 26:15Speaker 1: their part in this, and that's kind of what got
- 26:17Speaker 1: it done for me.
- 26:18Speaker 5: This is Christian Braswell is a great example of it, right,
- 26:20Speaker 5: a guy who's been around here on off the practice squad.
- 26:22Speaker 5: Put him in the lineup and he doesn't let you down.
- 26:25Speaker 5: It just further underscores the Liam Lower of Houston Week
- 26:31Speaker 5: post Houston Week twenty twenty five. I think this is
- 26:33Speaker 5: going to be one of those weeks that we look
- 26:35Speaker 5: back on years from now and say, what an incredible turnaround.
- 26:38Speaker 2: And this is how you build a team.
- 26:40Speaker 1: And when they talk about kind of setting a standard,
- 26:42Speaker 1: it's everybody contributing to that. And I think we saw
- 26:44Speaker 1: it fully for a full four quarters yesterday for the
- 26:47Speaker 1: first time this season.
- 26:48Speaker 6: Now can we get some of those guys back that too.
- 26:50Speaker 2: Right exactly. Now we've got all this handled. Now the
- 26:52Speaker 2: stars can come back.
- 26:53Speaker 4: The guy it's hard to be consistent, just on will power,
- 27:00Speaker 4: the star power to playoff Kay's warder.
- 27:02Speaker 1: Yes, the stars are back now, so we'll do star
- 27:04Speaker 1: power next week. We're hoping stay with us. We will
- 27:06Speaker 1: tell you what's coming up this week in what.
- 27:07Speaker 4: You can expect.
- 27:13Speaker 1: Jags fans on Tuesday, November eighteen, from five to six
- 27:15Speaker 1: had the publics at University Square and University Boulevard to
- 27:18Speaker 1: meet the rookies. Bj Green, Danny Strigau and Facial Tutin
- 27:22Speaker 1: of your Jacksonville Jaguars. Jackson Deville and the members of
- 27:25Speaker 1: the Roar will be there as well for special appearance publics.
- 27:28Speaker 1: We're shopping as a pleasure.
- 27:31Speaker 4: Guys.
- 27:31Speaker 6: Look at this thirty first downs to eight.
- 27:39Speaker 8: One ninety two yards rushing to forty two. Yes, and
- 27:51Speaker 8: we had an unbelievable moment obviously happened for our franchise today.
- 28:01Speaker 8: That's us and let's not forget this feeling, because that
- 28:04Speaker 8: is us.
- 28:06Speaker 6: I know for a fact.
- 28:08Speaker 8: The guys that stepped up today. So many guys stepped
- 28:12Speaker 8: up and impacted that game. And guess what, every single
- 28:15Speaker 8: one of you should be proud of what you see
- 28:17Speaker 8: in the mirror.
- 28:20Speaker 1: Four quarters of football out of the Jaguars makes sense
- 28:22Speaker 1: to have hyped locker room and we love the victory
- 28:24Speaker 1: speeches and a.
- 28:25Speaker 6: Lot of energy in that locker room.
- 28:26Speaker 5: If you looked around and saw different guys showing emotion,
- 28:29Speaker 5: it was it was cool moment.
- 28:31Speaker 2: Absolutely. Jarion Jones actually miked up for that one.
- 28:33Speaker 1: So I don't know what we'll be allowed to publish
- 28:34Speaker 1: because of the way he speaks, but I'm sure what
- 28:37Speaker 1: they do let out will be cool.
- 28:38Speaker 6: Well, they managed to cover up some of the coaches.
- 28:41Speaker 1: Yeah, I think Trent, one of our shooters and editors,
- 28:45Speaker 1: has a has to go through with fine youth comb
- 28:47Speaker 1: before we publish those things.
- 28:49Speaker 6: Animal, let's put it outay.
- 28:50Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a good problem to have. Absolutely, John, we're
- 28:53Speaker 1: looking at this week. We were hoping at Brent's range
- 28:55Speaker 1: back last week. I think we'll hear some more later today,
- 28:57Speaker 1: but hopefully maybe.
- 28:59Speaker 4: Yeah, is they expect him to play on Sunday, but
- 29:05Speaker 4: we're six days away from that, so I don't know
- 29:08Speaker 4: for sure. But not a concern that this is going
- 29:12Speaker 4: to continue.
- 29:13Speaker 2: To Laerage.
- 29:14Speaker 5: You also talk about the potential of Brian Thomas Junior's return.
- 29:17Speaker 5: He was working out hard on the field before the game.
- 29:18Speaker 5: Anton Harrison. I don't know where he's at, but you know,
- 29:21Speaker 5: I don't think that season endings, so hopefully you'll have
- 29:22Speaker 5: him back and maybe Jordan Lewis at some point in
- 29:24Speaker 5: the near future.
- 29:25Speaker 4: I think Eric Murray is two weeks from the like
- 29:29Speaker 4: Eric Murray's possibility to come back and get him some points. So, yeah,
- 29:33Speaker 4: your secondary. We don't know how long Newsom will be out, Yes,
- 29:37Speaker 4: but I haven't heard anything beyond Travis Hunter that makes
- 29:42Speaker 4: me think long term. Can't get back for December. Keep
- 29:45Speaker 4: in it and get these guys back.
- 29:47Speaker 2: All right.
- 29:48Speaker 1: We'll keep an eye on all that stuff and we'll
- 29:49Speaker 1: be back with you guys on Wednesday as we look
- 29:51Speaker 1: forward to trip to Arizona later this week.
- 30:01Speaker 2: Dust
