- 0:01Speaker 1: Goo Goo Dolls and Iris. Pay your taxes or in
- 0:04Speaker 1: April the Iris come after you.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Is this talk like a pirate day or what?
- 0:10Speaker 1: The Iris. The Iris. All right. It's 106.7 Light FM. Cubby, Christine,
- 0:16Speaker 1: producer Kristen is here. I did have a good dad
- 0:18Speaker 1: joke real quick. Okay. Somebody texted me because the whole
- 0:21Speaker 1: Iris thing made me think of the dad joke.
- 0:24Speaker 3: Let's see. I have a buddy of mine.
- 0:25Speaker 1: We do dad jokes together. Oh, here we go.
- 0:28Speaker 3: Lee Majors. Is not a fan of summer. He's a
- 0:33Speaker 3: fall guy.
- 0:36Speaker 4: Lee Majors.
- 0:37Speaker 2: Okay. What year was that show? For that dad joke
- 0:43Speaker 2: right there.
- 0:44Speaker 1: Lee Majors, of course, was a $ 6 million man.
- 0:47Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 0:47Speaker 3: And then he did that show in the 80s called
- 0:49Speaker 3: Fall Guy.
- 0:49Speaker 1: Oh, the 80s.
- 0:50Speaker 2: Yes.
- 0:50Speaker 3: Yes, going back to the 80s.
- 0:51Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah.
- 0:52Speaker 1: Is he still alive?
- 0:54Speaker 2: You know.
- 0:55Speaker 1: Wow, okay. Lee Majors, ladies and gentlemen, is still with us.
- 0:59Speaker 1: Very good.
- 0:59Speaker 3: And 87 years young.
- 1:02Speaker 1: Good. Amazing.
- 1:02Speaker 3: Six million dollar man and the fall guy.
- 1:05Speaker 2: I'm sure he loves that joke.
- 1:07Speaker 1: It doesn't feel like fall. Well, maybe today it will.
- 1:10Speaker 1: Yesterday it sure didn't. We were dealing with 80 degree temps.
- 1:14Speaker 2: Oh, it was weird yesterday.
- 1:15Speaker 1: Producer Kristen, she was off chaperoning a kid's field trip.
- 1:19Speaker 1: And she said they had thunder and lightning near the
- 1:21Speaker 1: end of the field trip. It was kind of a
- 1:23Speaker 1: wild weather day.
- 1:24Speaker 2: I know. It rained and then it was worse yesterday.
- 1:27Speaker 1: Right.
- 1:27Speaker 2: It was like hot and soupy again.
- 1:29Speaker 4: And humid.
- 1:29Speaker 3: It felt like July.
- 1:30Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:31Speaker 1: But we're in the Halloween spirit around here. In fact,
- 1:34Speaker 1: I believe you did some Halloween things. I did.
- 1:37Speaker 2: I went to Walmart yesterday with my sister-in-law, Barbara, and
- 1:40Speaker 2: we got our Halloween candy. And this was like a
- 1:43Speaker 2: huge discussion in the store, Cubby, because it was Barbara,
- 1:47Speaker 2: it was me, it was a couple of ladies.
- 1:48Speaker 3: Getting ready for trick-or-treaters, right?
- 1:50Speaker 2: We're getting ready and we're all kind of like Do
- 1:52Speaker 2: we buy this now or are we going to eat it?
- 1:56Speaker 2: So we decided it's close enough. Like if we don't
- 2:00Speaker 2: buy it now, then you're not going to get the
- 2:01Speaker 2: ones that you like maybe. And they're going to get
- 2:04Speaker 2: more expensive as we get closer. And I was telling Barbara,
- 2:07Speaker 2: I'm like, I feel so bad for the kids because
- 2:09Speaker 2: those they're not even snack size. Snack size are small.
- 2:13Speaker 2: They're like bite size.
- 2:15Speaker 3: Have they gotten smaller over the years?
- 2:16Speaker 2: They're so small.
- 2:18Speaker 3: You're right. It used to be like an index finger.
- 2:20Speaker 1: Right. And now it's like half of an index finger.
- 2:22Speaker 2: A little square.
- 2:22Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 2:23Speaker 2: Just a little square of something. So I ended up
- 2:25Speaker 2: buying so much candy to make up for it because
- 2:28Speaker 2: I figured they have to grab a few.
- 2:29Speaker 4: Right.
- 2:30Speaker 2: You know, not just one. I got some snack size ones.
- 2:33Speaker 2: But if you get the bags that have a mix,
- 2:35Speaker 2: they give you all those little minis.
- 2:37Speaker 4: Right.
- 2:38Speaker 1: So did you manage to keep the bag closed?
- 2:41Speaker 4: So.
- 2:43Speaker 2: They were exchanging tips, Barbara and this lady, and Barbara
- 2:47Speaker 2: was telling her, put the Reese's pumpkins in the freezer
- 2:51Speaker 2: and they'll taste better. And the lady was like, no,
- 2:52Speaker 2: don't help me. Don't do that. You know, they're like,
- 2:55Speaker 2: we just need this candy to make it to Halloween.
- 3:00Speaker 2: We did not make it home. Barbara opened her candy
- 3:03Speaker 2: in the car. Light at them.
- 3:05Speaker 1: Oh, sorry. I was going to play this. I had this.
- 3:07Speaker 3: Here we go.
- 3:09Speaker 1: She ate the candy. There we go.
- 3:10Speaker 4: Yes. Yes.
- 3:12Speaker 1: I applaud that.
- 3:13Speaker 2: I even told her, I was like, do you want
- 3:14Speaker 2: to put it in the trunk? She goes, no, I'll
- 3:16Speaker 2: hold it because I'm going to be getting out of
- 3:17Speaker 2: the car first. I'm like, okay, you hold it. The
- 3:20Speaker 2: whole way home. And it's a lot of work because
- 3:22Speaker 2: they are so tiny.
- 3:23Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:24Speaker 2: And she wanted candy.
- 3:25Speaker 1: Are there wrappers all over your phone board?
- 3:26Speaker 2: She had to open like 40 of them just for
- 3:29Speaker 2: a snack.
- 3:29Speaker 3: So you have to go back for more now? Or
- 3:31Speaker 3: do you have enough for all the trick-or-treaters?
- 3:32Speaker 2: She probably has to get more.
- 3:33Speaker 1: Do you get a lot of trick-or-treaters? I think you
- 3:35Speaker 1: probably do. Yeah, we do.
- 3:36Speaker 2: We have a lot of kids in our neighborhood.
- 3:37Speaker 4: Yeah. Yeah.
- 3:38Speaker 3: So, well.
- 3:39Speaker 2: So and anything that's left over, I'm going to bring here, guys.
- 3:43Speaker 1: We really because I think you said earlier you're debating
- 3:46Speaker 1: it because other people bring so much.
- 3:48Speaker 2: I know everybody else does. And you're going to look
- 3:49Speaker 2: at me like, no, not more candy.
- 3:51Speaker 3: No, please bring it in. OK.
- 3:53Speaker 1: All right.
- 3:54Speaker 3: Happy Halloween, by the way, in advance.
- 3:56Speaker 1: You too. We got two pretty cool things coming up.
- 3:58Speaker 1: We got some tricks. We got some treats.
- 3:59Speaker 3: It's Light FM.
- 4:01Speaker 5: More Covey and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 4:04Speaker 2: Next on Light FM.
- 4:06Speaker 4: Okay.
- 4:07Speaker 2: I need to tell you two things.
- 4:09Speaker 1: Covey and Christine's.
- 4:11Speaker 2: Two pretty cool things.
- 4:13Speaker 1: Christine, do you ever walk past a building in New
- 4:16Speaker 1: York and wonder what's inside? Of course. Well, this weekend,
- 4:20Speaker 1: you might actually get to find out. Open House New
- 4:22Speaker 1: York runs... Tomorrow through Sunday, October 16th.
- 4:26Speaker 3: I'm sorry. It starts tomorrow. It goes through the 18th.
- 4:30Speaker 1: And opening around 300 locations for tours and exploring. And
- 4:34Speaker 1: most are free. And many let you just drop in.
- 4:38Speaker 1: Consider it permission to be a curious New Yorker. They'll
- 4:41Speaker 1: probably have a little open house sign out front. But
- 4:44Speaker 1: over 300 locations.
- 4:45Speaker 2: Oh, that's fun.
- 4:46Speaker 1: And who knows? Maybe our building is a part of it.
- 4:48Speaker 1: You can walk in and take over Light FM this weekend.
- 4:52Speaker 1: Play whatever you want.
- 4:52Speaker 2: See what goes on.
- 4:53Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 4:54Speaker 3: What's your cool thing, Christine?
- 4:56Speaker 2: Well, I love this, Cubby. Celine Dion is getting her
- 4:59Speaker 2: own Barbie signature doll.
- 5:01Speaker 3: Now, that's cool.
- 5:01Speaker 1: Yeah, it is.
- 5:02Speaker 2: You know, she's been this triumphant comeback after these health issues.
- 5:07Speaker 2: She's been doing a show in Paris and looking and
- 5:10Speaker 2: sounding stunning. And the doll looks really beautiful. So it's
- 5:14Speaker 2: based on her Oscar dress from 1998.
- 5:16Speaker 4: Yes.
- 5:18Speaker 2: You know, and it reflects like 1997 Titanic. My heart
- 5:22Speaker 2: will go on. She's wearing that, the heart necklace, the
- 5:25Speaker 2: blue heart necklace.
- 5:26Speaker 3: Oh, the one they were looking for?
- 5:27Speaker 2: Heart of the Ocean.
- 5:28Speaker 1: Yes.
- 5:29Speaker 2: The doll is wearing it because Celine Dion wore it
- 5:32Speaker 2: for the Oscars. It's the same hairstyle, the same look.
- 5:34Speaker 2: It's really, really pretty. So it's the Celine Dion signature doll.
- 5:39Speaker 2: It's available through Mattel Creations for $ 60.
- 5:43Speaker 1: All right.
- 5:43Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 5:44Speaker 1: Two pretty cool things right there. 106.7 Light FM. We'll
- 5:47Speaker 1: take you back to 1990 next.
- 5:49Speaker 5: More Cubby and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 5:53Speaker 5: Next on Light FM.
- 5:54Speaker 3: We're definitely going to get a memo. I know we are.
- 5:56Speaker 1: There's going to be an email later at least saying
- 5:59Speaker 1: no more drinks.
- 5:59Speaker 3: In the studio.
- 6:01Speaker 2: Well, you're outing me.
- 6:02Speaker 1: Light FM.
- 6:03Speaker 3: That's it.
- 6:04Speaker 1: We're going on the air about it. Cubby, Christine, producer Kristen.
- 6:07Speaker 1: Literally four minutes ago. we're talking and I'm hanging out
- 6:11Speaker 1: on your side of the studio and you're standing. I
- 6:14Speaker 1: was standing, Kristen was standing and I was showing you
- 6:17Speaker 1: my new microphone.
- 6:17Speaker 2: I got my phone, your fuzzy mic.
- 6:20Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 6:20Speaker 1: Yeah. And that you backed in, I think to sit
- 6:22Speaker 1: back down.
- 6:23Speaker 3: And then all we heard was.
- 6:28Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:28Speaker 3: And that would be your coffee spilling.
- 6:30Speaker 2: That is a very precious cup of coffee, by the way,
- 6:33Speaker 2: because I had barely gotten started and I, I, I
- 6:36Speaker 2: need that coffee.
- 6:37Speaker 1: I'm fairly certain, though, you ruined a chair. I don't
- 6:39Speaker 1: know if that chair... We had to put the chair outside.
- 6:41Speaker 1: There's so much coffee on it. Yeah. So it has
- 6:43Speaker 1: to air dry up there. But better than equipment.
- 6:46Speaker 4: I know.
- 6:46Speaker 3: It didn't go into any buttons or anything.
- 6:47Speaker 2: So if engineering is listening, it did not touch any equipment.
- 6:52Speaker 2: The coffee did not hurt the equipment. Basically, I'm down
- 6:57Speaker 2: one chair and a very, very crucial cup of coffee.
- 7:02Speaker 3: That's your main concern.
- 7:03Speaker 2: That was my main concern, yes.
- 7:05Speaker 3: You have no coffee right now.
- 7:06Speaker 1: Yeah. And you're not a big fan of the coffee in-house.
- 7:10Speaker 1: You have to have like a coffee.
- 7:11Speaker 2: I can't do it.
- 7:11Speaker 1: You want a coffee cart guy.
- 7:13Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:13Speaker 3: Or gal.
- 7:14Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:15Speaker 1: If you happen to listen to us somewhere in Manhattan
- 7:18Speaker 1: and you're a coffee cart person and you have Light
- 7:20Speaker 1: FM on, can you text us?
- 7:22Speaker 3: Seriously, we'll come pick up some coffee.
- 7:24Speaker 4: Okay.
- 7:24Speaker 3: We'll pay for it.
- 7:25Speaker 1: Okay. But we'll get you.
- 7:26Speaker 3: You want the blue cup. You want the famous cart coffee.
- 7:28Speaker 2: I just need really good, strong coffee with just a
- 7:32Speaker 2: little extra half and half.
- 7:33Speaker 1: Text us at 44363.
- 7:34Speaker 2: Don't go crazy with the half and half.
- 7:36Speaker 1: Sorry.
- 7:36Speaker 3: Sorry.
- 7:36Speaker 2: Just a little extra half.
- 7:38Speaker 1: A little half and half.
- 7:38Speaker 2: Remember we talked about this one day?
- 7:40Speaker 3: Yep.
- 7:40Speaker 2: Yes.
- 7:40Speaker 3: It's very important.
- 7:41Speaker 2: It's really important.
- 7:43Speaker 3: So, seriously, we're not kidding.
- 7:44Speaker 1: If you could text us, say, hey, I'm a coffee
- 7:46Speaker 1: cart guy or a gal, and here's where I'm located.
- 7:50Speaker 1: And if you're close enough to us, heck, we'll make
- 7:52Speaker 1: a quick run.
- 7:52Speaker 2: Maybe I can run out.
- 7:53Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 7:54Speaker 2: 44363.
- 7:55Speaker 1: So, anyway, we'll see how this chair dries out. I
- 7:58Speaker 1: know it's going to smell great.
- 7:59Speaker 2: Because there's half and half in there. I'm so sorry.
- 8:02Speaker 1: No, I think the coffee smells more than that. I
- 8:04Speaker 1: don't know.
- 8:05Speaker 3: Well, you smell the half and half.
- 8:06Speaker 1: After.
- 8:07Speaker 2: Give it the dry down.
- 8:07Speaker 3: Oh, when the coffee dries?
- 8:08Speaker 2: Yeah. Like, I don't mind if things smell like coffee,
- 8:10Speaker 2: but the half and half can smell sour. So what
- 8:14Speaker 2: can I clean that with? What am I supposed to
- 8:15Speaker 2: do now?
- 8:16Speaker 1: Oh, how about.
- 8:17Speaker 2: Like Febreze?
- 8:18Speaker 1: Karen could probably help. Oh, yes.
- 8:20Speaker 3: Karen is.
- 8:21Speaker 2: Your friends.
- 8:22Speaker 1: She's awesome.
- 8:23Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:23Speaker 1: And she starts actually right about now until about 3
- 8:26Speaker 1: o'clock in the afternoon. And she does everything around iHeart.
- 8:30Speaker 1: She cleans.
- 8:31Speaker 3: She dusts.
- 8:32Speaker 1: She takes the trash out. She cleans our kitchen down.
- 8:34Speaker 1: She might be the person that really helps.
- 8:36Speaker 2: Us out with that chair.
- 8:37Speaker 1: She may know what to do.
- 8:37Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:37Speaker 3: Because she keeps us running here.
- 8:39Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 8:39Speaker 2: She's got to save the day.
- 8:40Speaker 4: Please.
- 8:41Speaker 1: All right.
- 8:41Speaker 3: I tell you what.
- 8:42Speaker 2: I'm really sorry.
- 8:42Speaker 1: We're up against it. We've got to take a short break.
- 8:44Speaker 1: But coming up next, we're going to tell you how
- 8:47Speaker 1: you can have Thanksgiving dinner for a family of how many?
- 8:49Speaker 4: Ten.
- 8:50Speaker 3: For $ 39.
- 8:51Speaker 2: That's right.
- 8:52Speaker 1: We'll explain that coming up next.
- 8:53Speaker 5: More Covey and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 8:57Speaker 2: Next on Light FM.
- 8:58Speaker 1: So if you want to feed a big old family,
- 9:01Speaker 1: like up to 10 people for Thanksgiving, you can do
- 9:03Speaker 1: it for $ 39 apparently.
- 9:04Speaker 3: And that's all I know.
- 9:06Speaker 1: Where do I go?
- 9:06Speaker 2: You go to Aldi's.
- 9:08Speaker 3: Okay.
- 9:08Speaker 1: Okay.
- 9:08Speaker 2: So they're talking about this right now. They have a
- 9:11Speaker 2: 16-pound turkey for you, six sides like stuffing sweet potatoes
- 9:16Speaker 2: and dinner rolls, pumpkin pie ingredients. All for under $ 39. Now,
- 9:22Speaker 2: this is.
- 9:22Speaker 3: Not a commercial, by the way.
- 9:23Speaker 1: Right. This is just such a good price. It's kind
- 9:26Speaker 1: of making news.
- 9:27Speaker 2: I feel like they did something similar last year, too.
- 9:30Speaker 2: And they said they want to make it easy for
- 9:31Speaker 2: you when you go to the store. They just announced this.
- 9:35Speaker 2: It's their Thanksgiving meal deal. And they will have a
- 9:38Speaker 2: turkey logo on the shelves, like, to make it easy. Okay. Like, oh, here,
- 9:43Speaker 2: you need this, you need this, you need that. So
- 9:45Speaker 2: you get your turkey, stuffing, you get a veggie tray.
- 9:48Speaker 2: With peeled baby carrots and celery, cranberries, sweet potatoes.
- 9:53Speaker 1: Wait, this is all included in that $ 39? Yep.
- 9:56Speaker 2: Love and Fresh Hawaiian Sweet Rolls. You have frozen. peas,
- 10:01Speaker 2: baker's corner pumpkin pie mix. And they give you a
- 10:04Speaker 2: pumpkin pie crust that you can buy. Friendly Farms whole
- 10:07Speaker 2: milk and Friendly Farms whipping cream. And that's how you
- 10:11Speaker 2: put it all together. And they said that Thanksgiving shouldn't
- 10:15Speaker 2: require a calculator or coupon strategy. Aldi just wants to
- 10:18Speaker 2: make it easy for you.
- 10:19Speaker 1: Look, we'll probably do this topic in about a month
- 10:21Speaker 1: right before Thanksgiving, but I'm thinking about it now because
- 10:23Speaker 1: you're talking about this. When it comes to all the
- 10:25Speaker 1: food that comes with Thanksgiving, what's the one you just
- 10:28Speaker 1: are not into?
- 10:30Speaker 2: Oh, that I'm not into?
- 10:31Speaker 3: Not into. Like meat, cranberries. I don't know why the cranberries.
- 10:34Speaker 2: Oh, I like it.
- 10:37Speaker 1: I'm not a big fan. I still like the- I
- 10:38Speaker 1: want my turkey.
- 10:39Speaker 3: I want my stuffing.
- 10:40Speaker 2: Cranberry sauce from the can. It's got to be the bloop.
- 10:43Speaker 2: It's got to plop out of the can and you
- 10:46Speaker 2: slice it up. I'm not, like, really big into sweet potatoes. Like,
- 10:49Speaker 2: some people do sweet potatoes with, like, marshmallows. Like, that's
- 10:52Speaker 2: not my thing.
- 10:53Speaker 3: You could take it or leave it.
- 10:54Speaker 1: Or leave it.
- 10:55Speaker 2: Or just leave it.
- 10:55Speaker 3: Just leave it.
- 10:56Speaker 2: Just leave it, yeah. Like, save room for the stuffing.
- 10:59Speaker 3: Oh, see, that's the thing, man.
- 11:00Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 11:01Speaker 3: I could eat stuff in nonstop.
- 11:02Speaker 2: I think we all could.
- 11:04Speaker 5: I know.
- 11:05Speaker 3: It's so good.
- 11:05Speaker 2: But we're balancing out with the protein of the turkey,
- 11:08Speaker 2: so it's okay.
- 11:09Speaker 3: All right, that's coming up. I gotta tell you, it's
- 11:11Speaker 3: just flying by here.
- 11:12Speaker 1: Gonna get through Halloween.
- 11:13Speaker 2: Well, this goes on sale November 4th.
- 11:14Speaker 1: By the way, at Aldi's.
- 11:15Speaker 3: Oh, so we have some time.
- 11:16Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 11:16Speaker 1: Okay, so after all the Halloween candy's gone, then you
- 11:19Speaker 1: stock up for Thanksgiving.
- 11:20Speaker 2: Move on.
- 11:21Speaker 5: More Cubby and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 11:24Speaker 5: Next on Light FM.
- 11:26Speaker 1: 6.58 Thursday morning. Christine has everything you need to know.
- 11:29Speaker 1: Good morning, Christine.
- 11:30Speaker 2: Good morning, Cubby. Well, Pope Leo continues to recover from
- 11:33Speaker 2: lung cancer surgery at Rome's Gemelli Hospital. Vatican officials say
- 11:39Speaker 2: that he's progressing normally. They're doing blood tests. chest x-ray,
- 11:42Speaker 2: getting the expected results. He is eating. He's beginning to
- 11:46Speaker 2: walk around. He's canceled public appearances through October 20th. He's
- 11:50Speaker 2: scheduled to travel to South America next month. Let's see
- 11:54Speaker 2: what he's up for. That's a lot. Social Security recipients
- 11:58Speaker 2: will see the biggest cost of living adjustment in three years.
- 12:01Speaker 2: The Social Security Administration says benefits will increase by 3.6%
- 12:04Speaker 2: in January. That's an average of $ 75 more per month.
- 12:10Speaker 2: The morning commute through the Lincoln Tunnel is about to
- 12:12Speaker 2: get even tougher. I know it already is. You may
- 12:15Speaker 2: be feeling it this morning because they started it. Port
- 12:17Speaker 2: Authority officials say drivers and bus riders should expect more
- 12:21Speaker 2: traffic and a longer ride starting today because of new
- 12:25Speaker 2: temporary routes that are set up around construction for the
- 12:28Speaker 2: new Midtown bus terminal. That will be in action for years,
- 12:33Speaker 2: by the way.
- 12:33Speaker 1: Not just one year, not two. They're saying maybe... Maybe 10.
- 12:37Speaker 1: That's the rumor.
- 12:38Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 12:38Speaker 2: Let's hope that's an exaggeration.
- 12:40Speaker 1: How about, you know what? Construction will never go away, guys. Yes.
- 12:44Speaker 1: Wherever you go.
- 12:45Speaker 2: It's always here.
- 12:46Speaker 3: It's for the rest of our lives.
- 12:47Speaker 2: This one is pretty intense.
- 12:49Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 12:49Speaker 2: For women's health, a new study shows ovaries still play
- 12:52Speaker 2: an important role after menopause. A woman's ovaries stop releasing
- 12:57Speaker 2: eggs after menopause. They don't stop working. It's kind of
- 13:01Speaker 2: like their roles change, according to the studies from doctors.
- 13:05Speaker 2: This was published on Wednesday in the medical journal Aging Cell.
- 13:09Speaker 2: It shows ovaries get busy maintaining tissue and cell structure,
- 13:13Speaker 2: lipid metabolism, immunity, and inflammation. So researchers say it turns
- 13:17Speaker 2: out that for ovaries, menopause is more like a career
- 13:21Speaker 2: change than retirement. In sports, the locals are off tonight,
- 13:25Speaker 2: but we have Thursday night football. Seahawks play the Broncos
- 13:27Speaker 2: at 8.15. And, uh-oh, we're not supposed to take naps
- 13:31Speaker 2: in the afternoon.
- 13:32Speaker 3: Oh, that's a good thing.
- 13:32Speaker 1: I thought it was going to be a bad thing
- 13:34Speaker 1: because I don't take naps.
- 13:35Speaker 2: You don't have time. So it's actually better for you.
- 13:38Speaker 2: A new study tracked 1,000 older Americans for up to
- 13:41Speaker 2: a decade. They found that people who nap most days
- 13:43Speaker 2: or every day had a 48% higher risk of developing
- 13:47Speaker 2: dementia than people who rarely or never napped. Well, now what?
- 13:53Speaker 2: That doesn't sound good.
- 13:54Speaker 1: Well, you have to wait till next week when the
- 13:56Speaker 1: story comes out that napping is great for you.
- 13:59Speaker 2: Yeah, because sleep deprivation is harmful.
- 14:02Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 14:02Speaker 1: I think we're in a different boat because we don't
- 14:04Speaker 1: sleep much at night. And I don't nap just because, like,
- 14:07Speaker 1: the kids and all that. But would I like to nap? Absolutely.
- 14:11Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 14:12Speaker 5: More Cubby and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 14:15Speaker 5: Next on Light FM.
- 14:16Speaker 3: Light FM. We're talking babies.
- 14:19Speaker 1: Baby, baby. Apparently, baby name trends are going to be
- 14:27Speaker 1: switching up in 2027, right, Christine? Yes. Getting a little
- 14:30Speaker 1: nutty out there?
- 14:31Speaker 2: A little more is better approach happening for 2027. People
- 14:35Speaker 2: want unique baby names.
- 14:36Speaker 1: So if you're pregnant and you're thinking about what to
- 14:39Speaker 1: name your baby, this is what 2027 has in store.
- 14:43Speaker 2: Name maxing is in. Like blending two names together, combining
- 14:48Speaker 2: Maeve and Avery into Mavery. They're calling that trend maxing.
- 14:52Speaker 4: Okay.
- 14:52Speaker 1: And by the way, we're getting this from a website
- 14:54Speaker 1: called Nameberry. They put out a list of all the trends,
- 14:58Speaker 1: all the forecasts that parents are embracing. And so name
- 15:02Speaker 1: maxing is one of them. There's like 10 of them
- 15:04Speaker 1: on here. Number two is the Odyssey names. So that's
- 15:09Speaker 1: the movie, right? Yes.
- 15:11Speaker 2: Right. Based on the book.
- 15:13Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 15:13Speaker 1: So names like Ajax, Calypso, even Homer making a comeback.
- 15:20Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 15:20Speaker 3: Could you imagine holding a little baby, two days old.
- 15:25Speaker 1: And going, hey, Homer.
- 15:26Speaker 2: Aw, little baby Homer.
- 15:28Speaker 1: It just seems silly, but it's kind of a cool
- 15:30Speaker 1: name at the same time. It is.
- 15:32Speaker 2: Lunar names like Alara or Moon. Okay.
- 15:36Speaker 1: World Cup names. That really inspired people. Like Baby Holland.
- 15:41Speaker 2: Mm-hmm.
- 15:42Speaker 3: Is that how you do it? Like with two A's?
- 15:44Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 15:44Speaker 1: Holland.
- 15:45Speaker 3: And there's Alara.
- 15:46Speaker 1: Alara.
- 15:47Speaker 3: Or Mu, oh, no, I'm sorry.
- 15:48Speaker 2: Those are my lunar names.
- 15:49Speaker 3: Yeah, those are lunar names. Baby Enzo is a World
- 15:51Speaker 3: Cup name. Baby Enzo.
- 15:53Speaker 2: Names ending in Omi, like O-M-I, like Tomi, Iomi, Ziomi.
- 15:59Speaker 3: I have a daughter named Naomi.
- 16:00Speaker 2: Naomi, yes.
- 16:02Speaker 3: She's back in the day, though, 2020.
- 16:04Speaker 2: She was setting the trends.
- 16:06Speaker 1: These are 2027 trends. So, what, opulent names?
- 16:12Speaker 4: Opulent.
- 16:12Speaker 3: Opulent.
- 16:13Speaker 2: Oh, my gosh.
- 16:15Speaker 3: Opulent names. Like Cashmere, Golden, Hampton, and Trust. Naming a
- 16:20Speaker 3: baby Trust?
- 16:22Speaker 2: Like Trust Fund Baby. It's good.
- 16:24Speaker 1: It's a good thing.
- 16:25Speaker 3: If your last name is Fun, that'd be kind of cool.
- 16:27Speaker 2: Trust Fund Baby is a good thing. You get to
- 16:28Speaker 2: go to school, yeah. Medieval names like Agnes, Winifred, and Archibald.
- 16:34Speaker 3: Hey, you know an Archibald.
- 16:35Speaker 2: I know. Archibald Von Nagy. Yes.
- 16:38Speaker 1: There's coastal baby names like Clifton, Cove, Fisher, Reef.
- 16:45Speaker 3: And Tide. Mm-hmm.
- 16:47Speaker 1: I'm sorry. Seriously? Name that kid Tide?
- 16:52Speaker 2: Like Coastal, though. The Tide comes in and goes out.
- 16:56Speaker 2: Not like Tide, the laundry detergent.
- 16:58Speaker 3: What are you thinking? Okay.
- 17:00Speaker 1: Because producer Kristen, what are you thinking? Middle name Pod? Tide?
- 17:06Speaker 1: Tide Pod?
- 17:08Speaker 2: What about the 1890s nicknames? And here we go again.
- 17:11Speaker 2: Archie from my Archibald. That's his name, Archie. Ernie and Ozzy.
- 17:16Speaker 2: And by the way, my Archie's a cat, but he
- 17:19Speaker 2: also is a trendsetter, apparently, with the names.
- 17:22Speaker 3: Absolutely.
- 17:22Speaker 1: Interesting, though. 1890s, they were considered nicknames. Ernie, Archie, and Ozzy.
- 17:28Speaker 1: But those are cool names, too. And then what's the
- 17:30Speaker 1: final one?
- 17:31Speaker 2: The European place names, like Florence, Marbella, Oslo, Roma.
- 17:36Speaker 1: Roma. Roma.
- 17:37Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:38Speaker 1: So there you go. The baby turn names.
- 17:40Speaker 3: What's that?
- 17:41Speaker 2: Baby Vienna.
- 17:42Speaker 1: That's actually kind of pretty.
- 17:43Speaker 2: That would be pretty. You have a friend who has
- 17:45Speaker 2: baby Vienna? Producer Kristen is saying, yeah, I think that
- 17:48Speaker 2: is pretty. It just works.
- 17:49Speaker 1: Baby Vienna.
- 17:50Speaker 2: How about baby Budapest? Not as much. You can't go wrong, actually.
- 17:56Speaker 3: What else?
- 17:56Speaker 1: Baby Norway?
- 17:58Speaker 2: Baby Prague.
- 18:00Speaker 3: Baby Shark.
- 18:03Speaker 2: Oh, I hear a hit tune.
- 18:05Speaker 3: Yeah, we should work on something like that.
- 18:06Speaker 5: More Cubby and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 18:10Speaker 5: Next on Light FM.
- 18:12Speaker 3: Cubby, Christine, and producer Kristen.
- 18:14Speaker 1: Christine, what do you have now?
- 18:16Speaker 2: I just want to reassure people who may have some
- 18:18Speaker 2: clutter in their homes. Hi, it's me. I'm the problem.
- 18:21Speaker 2: It's me. Because it can be disorienting and it can
- 18:25Speaker 2: be upsetting, Cubby, and we want to clear it out.
- 18:27Speaker 1: But.
- 18:28Speaker 2: According to psychologists, it's okay for some people. Because they
- 18:33Speaker 2: say the world is divided into two camps. There are
- 18:35Speaker 2: neat freaks who happily... And there are people who happily
- 18:39Speaker 2: say yes to the mess. A cluttered home can sometimes
- 18:42Speaker 2: signal stress, feeling overwhelmed, even depression.
- 18:45Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 18:45Speaker 2: This is what I'm understanding.
- 18:46Speaker 3: Because you feel like you're just behind it and you
- 18:48Speaker 3: can't catch up.
- 18:48Speaker 2: I just can't tackle it.
- 18:49Speaker 3: Right.
- 18:50Speaker 1: Right.
- 18:50Speaker 2: It feels overwhelming. But there are the type B personalities
- 18:55Speaker 2: who are considered more laid back. And these people... care
- 18:58Speaker 2: less about the perfect organization and more about creativities, ideas, experiences.
- 19:04Speaker 2: Researchers found tidy spaces tend to encourage people to follow
- 19:07Speaker 2: the rules and do what's expected. Messier spaces may actually
- 19:11Speaker 2: help people think more creatively and break away from convention.
- 19:15Speaker 2: So before you judge that pile of laundry on the chair,
- 19:17Speaker 2: remember it might not be clutter, it might be innovation.
- 19:21Speaker 2: Or as one famous psychoanalyst supposedly said, don't clean up
- 19:24Speaker 2: the mess, I know exactly where everything is. Which is
- 19:27Speaker 2: very true, by the way.
- 19:28Speaker 3: It's like people with a really bad desk.
- 19:29Speaker 1: Yes. They know where everything is.
- 19:30Speaker 2: Don't move anything. It's my mess. I know where everything is.
- 19:33Speaker 1: It's so funny you're talking about this because my wife
- 19:36Speaker 1: and I plan on doing the garage today.
- 19:37Speaker 3: We've been talking about it since Monday.
- 19:39Speaker 1: Oh, that's exciting. It's been warm lately. Yeah. So we're
- 19:42Speaker 1: like that first cool day this week. We're going to
- 19:44Speaker 1: open both garage doors and organize the garage. Okay.
- 19:47Speaker 3: Today's the day.
- 19:48Speaker 1: All right.
- 19:48Speaker 3: So wish us luck.
- 19:49Speaker 2: I do wish you luck. Report back because maybe this
- 19:52Speaker 2: will inspire Eric and me to do the same.
- 19:55Speaker 1: It's a great day for cleaning out the garage. Sunshine
- 19:58Speaker 1: and a high of 68. Let's open the phones and
- 20:01Speaker 1: do a trivia battle. 1-800-222-1067.
- 20:04Speaker 3: What's our prize?
- 20:05Speaker 2: We've got tickets to see Carly Rae Jepsen Saturday, May
- 20:08Speaker 2: 15th at Madison Square Garden. Tickets are on sale now
- 20:11Speaker 2: at Ticketmaster.com. or you can give us a call.
- 20:14Speaker 3: We need two people to play. Good luck.
- 20:16Speaker 5: More Cubby and Christine and the great music variety you
- 20:19Speaker 5: expect next on Light FM.
- 20:22Speaker 1: You pretty good at trivia?
- 20:23Speaker 5: Light FM's Trivia Battle.
- 20:26Speaker 1: Thursday morning, middle of the month. Happy October 15th. Cubby
- 20:29Speaker 1: and Christine in time for a trivia battle. And on
- 20:32Speaker 1: Team Cubby today is John from Brooklyn. John, what gets
- 20:36Speaker 1: you up so early this morning?
- 20:38Speaker 4: Well, usually just work and taking my daughter to school.
- 20:42Speaker 3: And you're doing that right now? Yes, I am.
- 20:44Speaker 4: All right.
- 20:45Speaker 3: What do you do for a living?
- 20:46Speaker 4: I'm a VP of accounting at Bodine on Associates.
- 20:49Speaker 3: All right.
- 20:50Speaker 1: Well, best of luck. Bring home a victory for Team Cubby.
- 20:53Speaker 1: And who's John's competition, Christine?
- 20:55Speaker 2: Let's meet Tanya from Queens. Hi, Tanya.
- 20:57Speaker 1: Good morning.
- 20:59Speaker 2: Good morning. Are you commuting right now? Yes, I'm taking
- 21:02Speaker 2: my daughter to school.
- 21:04Speaker 1: Okay.
- 21:04Speaker 2: We have a theme.
- 21:05Speaker 1: A lot of Ubers and Lyfts going around.
- 21:07Speaker 2: That's right.
- 21:08Speaker 3: Well, Best of luck to you both. John, you'll get
- 21:11Speaker 3: three questions. Tanya, you'll get three questions. Best out of
- 21:14Speaker 3: three wins our trivia battle. All right, John, question number
- 21:16Speaker 3: one for you.
- 21:18Speaker 1: Season 11 of Love is Blind is now streaming on Netflix.
- 21:22Speaker 1: What city are the contestants based out of? A, Boston, B, Atlanta,
- 21:27Speaker 1: or C, Philadelphia?
- 21:29Speaker 4: Oh, my gosh. I know my wife watches this, but
- 21:32Speaker 4: I have no idea. Love is Blind. Philadelphia? Philadelphia?
- 21:38Speaker 1: Philadelphia. You're off by a few miles. Boston is the answer. Boston,
- 21:43Speaker 1: a lot of people are watching the show. All right,
- 21:46Speaker 1: so over to Tanya.
- 21:48Speaker 2: Okay, Tanya, which HBO series will Lena Dunham revive for
- 21:52Speaker 2: five more episodes? A, Sex and the City, B, Girls, C, Euphoria.
- 21:59Speaker 1: I believe that's Girls.
- 22:02Speaker 2: Yes, it is. You got it.
- 22:04Speaker 1: One, nothing, Tanya. Hey, John, I don't know if you
- 22:08Speaker 1: heard this story or not, but this is really cool.
- 22:09Speaker 1: An Idaho man and his 13-year-old niece just broke the
- 22:13Speaker 1: Guinness World Record for the most paper airplanes caught in
- 22:17Speaker 1: a mouth in one minute. Now, do you know how
- 22:20Speaker 1: many they caught? Is it A, 15, B, 20, or C, 25?
- 22:24Speaker 4: Oh, my God. I'm just going to have to take
- 22:29Speaker 4: a guess on this one. I didn't even hear this.
- 22:31Speaker 4: I'm going to say 15.
- 22:34Speaker 1: 15. No, actually, 20 paper airplanes caught in a mouth
- 22:40Speaker 1: in one minute. And, Christine, we'll be breaking that record
- 22:42Speaker 1: next hour. Tune in for this, okay?
- 22:46Speaker 2: All right.
- 22:46Speaker 1: All right, so Tanya now for the win.
- 22:48Speaker 2: Yes. Okay, Tanya, which of these teams has a huge
- 22:51Speaker 2: lead in Major League Soccer's East Division right now? Is
- 22:55Speaker 2: it A, Nashville Soccer Club, B, DC United, C, Columbus Crew?
- 23:01Speaker 2: I have no idea. Okay, my daughter's Columbus. I don't know.
- 23:07Speaker 4: Columbus?
- 23:07Speaker 2: She said Columbus? No, I'm sorry, it's Nashville.
- 23:11Speaker 1: All right.
- 23:12Speaker 2: No, sorry.
- 23:13Speaker 3: Let me see if I'm right here.
- 23:15Speaker 1: I have a one-nothing lead for Tanya. Okay, so John,
- 23:18Speaker 1: you can tie it right now with this question. We're
- 23:21Speaker 1: going back to the 80s. In which 1980s sitcom featuring
- 23:26Speaker 1: a group of teenagers was Charlie Moore a leading character?
- 23:32Speaker 1: Is it A, Growing Pains, B, 21 Jump Street, or C,
- 23:35Speaker 1: Head of the Class?
- 23:39Speaker 4: Head of the Class?
- 23:40Speaker 1: And boom, we're tied up, but it's not over.
- 23:44Speaker 2: Nope, Tanya, you can still win if you get this one.
- 23:48Speaker 2: Which show featured the following characters, Blair, Joe, Natalie, Tootie,
- 23:53Speaker 2: and Mrs.
- 23:53Speaker 1: Garrett?
- 23:54Speaker 2: Was it A, Different Strokes, B, Charles in Charge, or C,
- 23:58Speaker 2: The Facts of Life?
- 24:00Speaker 1: No, I got it.
- 24:01Speaker 4: It's the fact of life.
- 24:02Speaker 2: You do have it.
- 24:04Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 24:04Speaker 2: You got it, Tanya.
- 24:05Speaker 1: Congratulations.
- 24:07Speaker 4: Congratulations, Tanya.
- 24:08Speaker 1: John, thank you for being a gracious loser. I know
- 24:10Speaker 1: you've won before, so thank you for playing again, John.
- 24:14Speaker 2: And you can play again.
- 24:15Speaker 4: Have a great day, guys. Congratulations again. That was a
- 24:19Speaker 4: good one.
- 24:19Speaker 2: Thank you. Thank you, John. Tanya, congrats. You're going to
- 24:23Speaker 2: see Carly Rae Jepsen Saturday, May 15th at Madison Square Garden.
- 24:27Speaker 4: Thank you so much.
- 24:28Speaker 5: More Cubby and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 24:32Speaker 2: Next on Light FM.
- 24:33Speaker 3: Well, well, well, Christine. It's Thursday.
- 24:36Speaker 1: That means we have an NFL football game tonight. Yes. Therefore,
- 24:41Speaker 1: we have to get to our picks. On 6.7 Light FM, Cubby, Christine,
- 24:45Speaker 1: producer Kristen. And if you haven't been listening the last
- 24:48Speaker 1: few days, we've let producer Kristen... Back into our NFL
- 24:53Speaker 1: survivor pool.
- 24:54Speaker 2: Very good choice, Covey, yes.
- 24:55Speaker 3: You know, it was just no fun without her.
- 24:56Speaker 1: I know. So she was technically out.
- 25:00Speaker 2: Because you did two strikes and you're out this year
- 25:02Speaker 2: as opposed to last year, three strikes and you're out.
- 25:04Speaker 2: So we're back up to three strikes and you're out.
- 25:07Speaker 1: So what do we all have now?
- 25:09Speaker 3: So she's, Kristen, you're back in.
- 25:11Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 25:12Speaker 3: With one strike. No, you have two.
- 25:14Speaker 1: She has two.
- 25:14Speaker 3: So if you're wrong on something this weekend, you're back out.
- 25:17Speaker 4: She's out again.
- 25:17Speaker 2: She's out again. Okay.
- 25:18Speaker 4: Okay.
- 25:19Speaker 3: And then we have, we can miss two more.
- 25:21Speaker 1: One strike apiece.
- 25:22Speaker 3: One strike apiece?
- 25:23Speaker 1: Mm-hmm. All right, we'll just play it, you know, as
- 25:25Speaker 1: the weekend rolls on here.
- 25:26Speaker 4: Okay.
- 25:26Speaker 3: I'm a little confused, to be honest with you. But
- 25:28Speaker 3: am I out if I miss something? No, I'm not.
- 25:30Speaker 2: No, we can screw up two more times.
- 25:33Speaker 4: Okay.
- 25:34Speaker 3: Well, so no one's picking a game tonight.
- 25:36Speaker 1: So I believe we got, tonight we got the Broncos
- 25:39Speaker 1: versus the Seahawks.
- 25:41Speaker 3: No one's touching that game.
- 25:42Speaker 2: They're on their own.
- 25:43Speaker 3: Christine, I'd like for you to go first, if you
- 25:45Speaker 3: don't mind.
- 25:45Speaker 4: Okay.
- 25:46Speaker 3: What game are you going with this week?
- 25:47Speaker 2: Cubby, I'm going to choose the Colts over the Titans.
- 25:52Speaker 2: It serves me better if I stick with animals.
- 25:55Speaker 1: Yeah, and it's a pretty good pick overall.
- 25:58Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 25:58Speaker 1: So I like your pick. Colts over Titans.
- 26:03Speaker 2: Yes.
- 26:03Speaker 1: The winless Titans, by the way. They've yet to win
- 26:06Speaker 1: a game, so I think it's a good call.
- 26:07Speaker 2: Oh.
- 26:09Speaker 3: Good one. Producer Kristen, what are you picking? Can you
- 26:11Speaker 3: yell it? Because you're not allowed to talk on the mic.
- 26:13Speaker 1: Patriots. Patriots.
- 26:18Speaker 3: Over the Jets. Patriots over Jets.
- 26:21Speaker 2: I think she's going to win.
- 26:22Speaker 1: Well, no, I think I'm going to win, too. I'm
- 26:24Speaker 1: pretty much a shoe-in, to be honest with you. I'm
- 26:25Speaker 1: picking the Monday night game. The San Francisco 49ers are
- 26:29Speaker 1: taking on the Washington Commanders. 49ers are undefeated, and the
- 26:33Speaker 1: Commanders are 1-3-1. And San Francisco at home. I think
- 26:40Speaker 1: we're all winning. And you can't pick them, right, Kristen?
- 26:42Speaker 2: Yes, because she already.
- 26:43Speaker 1: That's why you stayed away from that game?
- 26:45Speaker 3: You've used the 49ers already, and I haven't.
- 26:47Speaker 2: There's been some upsets this year, though, but, you know,
- 26:49Speaker 2: just saying.
- 26:50Speaker 1: And props to producer Kristen for keeping track of all this,
- 26:53Speaker 1: because I can't remember who I picked.
- 26:55Speaker 3: And she tells me who I've picked and who I
- 26:57Speaker 3: haven't picked.
- 26:57Speaker 2: Oh, as of Monday, we'll have no idea what we picked.
- 27:00Speaker 3: Look at her computer.
- 27:02Speaker 2: She has a spreadsheet.
- 27:03Speaker 1: Wow.
- 27:04Speaker 2: Very nice. Thank you, Kristen. Thank you.
- 27:06Speaker 1: All right, we have a giveaway right now. Looking for
